Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
• 0:04
  Speaker 1: your hosts me.
• 0:05
Speaker 2: Gia Judice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
• 0:13
Speaker 3: Hey guys, and welcome back to another week of Dirty Rush.
• 0:16
Speaker 3: I am currently here in Vegas, and I know a
• 0:19
Speaker 3: lot of sororities and fraternities come here for fall break,
• 0:23
Speaker 3: do formals out here in day parties. This is definitely
• 0:26
Speaker 3: the place to have some fun. But sometimes fun comes
• 0:30
Speaker 3: with trouble. So I'm excited to be here in Vegas.
• 0:34
Speaker 3: The vibes are hi.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: Vegas has me thinking about all of the scandals that
• 0:38
Speaker 1: come with sorority life. So I'm going to tell you
• 0:41
Speaker 1: of my little story. I think it's more risky than scandalous.
• 0:45
  Speaker 4: I don't know. I didn't do anything that's scandalous in
• 0:47
  Speaker 4: my life.
• 0:48
Speaker 3: And here's some stories from some other people as well.
• 0:52
Speaker 5: Hi Jiung Hi, how are you good?
• 0:54
Speaker 4: How are you good?
• 0:55
Speaker 6: Excited to be in Vegas, but it has me thinking
• 0:59
Speaker 6: of a crazy easy story. It's not my story, but
• 1:03
Speaker 6: I have permission to tell it from my sister, so
• 1:08
Speaker 6: we can just jump in. Let's go okay, So essentially,
• 1:12
Speaker 6: my sister took a trip to Vegas with her sorority sisters.
• 1:16
Speaker 6: They were all having a grand old time running around
• 1:19
Speaker 6: the strip, but they weren't twenty one yet, which clearly
• 1:23
Speaker 6: is an issue being down here. So they were definitely
• 1:27
Speaker 6: testing their limits with the fake IDs. I'm shocked that
• 1:31
Speaker 6: they were able to get in anywhere, or.
• 1:34
Speaker 3: Do any I mean, honestly, I've heard recently they of
• 1:38
Speaker 3: some people you know that are underage getting in with
• 1:40
  Speaker 3: the fake IDs.
• 1:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess they have a good one.
• 1:43
Speaker 4: If you have a dupe.
• 1:44
Speaker 3: If you have a good one, like if you literally
• 1:46
Speaker 3: have somebody else's old license and that person really looks
• 1:49
Speaker 3: like you, it's a little more manageable than buying a
• 1:52
Speaker 3: fake idea off the black market. But things have definitely,
• 1:56
Speaker 3: I think gotten more lenient.
• 1:57
  Speaker 4: For sure.
• 1:58
Speaker 6: I think so. And I think that ideas just have
• 2:00
Speaker 6: gotten better and better. So anyways, they're running around, testing
• 2:04
Speaker 6: their limits with the fake IDs, having a fun time,
• 2:07
Speaker 6: and they find themselves at the blackjack tables.
• 2:11
  Speaker 4: Oh my god.
• 2:12
Speaker 6: So they start playing and not thinking anything about it,
• 2:17
Speaker 6: and my sister's sorority sisters were not doing too well.
• 2:22
Speaker 6: They're kind of wanting to opt out, but they're having
• 2:24
Speaker 6: fun at the table. They made friends with some people
• 2:26
Speaker 6: around there, and all of a sudden, my sister starts
• 2:29
Speaker 6: doing really, really well and she has no idea where
• 2:33
Speaker 6: this burst of luck came from. But long story short,
• 2:37
Speaker 6: she ends up getting up to four thousand dollars of money.
• 2:42
Speaker 6: One at the stage hit she hit the jackpot somehow.
• 2:46
Speaker 3: And she was four thousand dollars randomly just getting that
• 2:49
Speaker 3: on a random day, especially as a college student. Though
• 2:53
Speaker 3: as a nineteen year old, that is like, that's that's iconic.
• 2:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, this is helping me for the rest of
• 3:01
  Speaker 4: the semester.
• 3:02
Speaker 6: Absolutely, absolutely, So she is on top of the world.
• 3:05
Speaker 6: But she gets to a point where she's kind of
• 3:07
Speaker 6: scared and she's like, I need to take this money
• 3:09
Speaker 6: and like not place my bets any long year. I'm done.
• 3:13
Speaker 6: I need to cut it off. So they say goodbye
• 3:15
Speaker 6: to everybody at the table. They take her chips to
• 3:18
Speaker 6: go cash in, and although her ID worked at the
• 3:21
Speaker 6: table to play, her ID was not working when she
• 3:25
Speaker 6: was trying to cash out, So this woman behind the
• 3:28
Speaker 6: counter is scanning her ID. Her sorority sisters are standing
• 3:32
Speaker 6: behind her. They're freaking out. They're so scared, trying to
• 3:35
Speaker 6: hold their composure. All of their faces are beat red,
• 3:38
Speaker 6: I'm sure, and they are kind of going back and
• 3:43
Speaker 6: forth with this woman. She's trying to make calls to
• 3:45
Speaker 6: the table to verify that she was at that table,
• 3:48
Speaker 6: and she's like, I'm going to get arrested.
• 3:51
  Speaker 5: She's terrified.
• 3:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, And by the grace of God, somehow this man
• 3:57
Speaker 6: who was at their table walks over and dap her up,
• 4:00
Speaker 6: pots her on the back, is like, congratulations, was amazing
• 4:04
Speaker 6: win and he saved the day because he was able
• 4:07
Speaker 6: to like verify to this woman and he was at
• 4:10
  Speaker 6: the table.
• 4:10
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 4:11
Speaker 6: And so this woman, without her idea even scanning, handed
• 4:15
Speaker 6: over the four thousand dollars to my sister and she
• 4:18
  Speaker 6: was freaking Wow.
• 4:20
Speaker 4: She had a lucky night.
• 4:21
Speaker 5: She had a lucky night.
• 4:22
Speaker 3: Sometimes, you know, Vegas can be trouble, but sometimes it
• 4:25
Speaker 3: could also be a whole lot of fun.
• 4:28
Speaker 6: And absolutely it always I mean, I mean, it always brings.
• 4:33
Speaker 3: This place to gandle I mean gamble scanned, I said,
• 4:37
Speaker 3: I said scandal and gamble at the same time. I
• 4:40
Speaker 3: guess this is the place to gamble. So yeah, she
• 4:43
Speaker 3: definitely hit the jackpot, and I she pulled it off.
• 4:46
Speaker 6: I know, I feel like it is one of the
• 4:49
Speaker 6: more legendary sorority Vegas stories that I've ever heard, So
• 4:53
Speaker 6: I wanted to jump into the chair.
• 4:55
Speaker 3: Underage, I wouldn't recommend doing this, absolutely.
• 4:58
  Speaker 4: Wouldn't do this.
• 5:00
Speaker 5: It was like one in a million.
• 5:01
Speaker 3: When I didn't go anywhere until I was twenty one,
• 5:04
  Speaker 3: Like I didn't first time I was in Vegas, I
• 5:06
Speaker 3: was actually twenty four, So yeah, I didn't, or.
• 5:10
Speaker 4: No, I was twenty three.
• 5:11
Speaker 3: I was twenty three, but didn't go out into the
• 5:14
Speaker 3: bars like until I was twenty one. I was just
• 5:17
Speaker 3: always so nervous, especially being in the being a public figure.
• 5:21
Speaker 3: I did go to clubs in New York though underage
• 5:23
Speaker 3: that was always easy, but like you knew to never
• 5:27
Speaker 3: go to like Hoboken or down the shore bars in
• 5:30
Speaker 3: Jersey with a fake ID, because it was always risky Vegas,
• 5:34
Speaker 3: I would never ever have.
• 5:35
  Speaker 6: I can't believe she tried. I don't think I would either.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: But I mean, good luck to your sister. That's awesome.
• 5:45
Speaker 6: I know it was a good one.
• 5:46
Speaker 4: Well, thank you so much for telling that story.
• 5:48
Speaker 3: Absolutely, and now I have a little, I guess scandalous story.
• 5:53
Speaker 3: Maybe I was just like breaking the rules at a
• 5:55
Speaker 3: date party. But we had a date party in New York.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: Rutgers didn't really do date parties where we traveled or.
• 6:02
Speaker 4: Did anything like that.
• 6:03
Speaker 3: I know some schools would go to Nashville or New
• 6:05
Speaker 3: Orleans or even Vegas and go to really cool places.
• 6:10
Speaker 4: We didn't really do that.
• 6:11
Speaker 3: We stayed in the New Jersey or New York area
• 6:14
Speaker 3: was the furthest we went. But we had a date
• 6:16
Speaker 3: party in New York City and I wanted to go
• 6:19
Speaker 3: out after so a couple of my friends and I
• 6:23
Speaker 3: decided to ditch the party bus on the way home
• 6:26
Speaker 3: back to Rutgers, and that wasn't allowed. But no one
• 6:30
Speaker 3: ever snitched on me, so I never got in trouble.
• 6:32
Speaker 3: We partied at the club till like four am and
• 6:36
Speaker 3: went back to Rutgers, but I never got in trouble
• 6:38
  Speaker 3: for it.
• 6:39
Speaker 4: But usually you are.
• 6:40
Speaker 3: Not allowed to do that because they obviously are accountable
• 6:43
Speaker 3: for you and it's a liability issue and stuff like that.
• 6:47
Speaker 3: But I ended up finessing. No one snitched, Thank you
• 6:50
Speaker 3: Zada sisters, And yeah, that was my scandalous story. Though
• 6:55
Speaker 3: I guess I was just being a little risky that night.
• 6:57
Speaker 3: I just I never really did anything that bad. It
• 7:00
Speaker 3: was never really liked bad kid.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: You had Vegas energy that night. Yeah, I had Vegas
• 7:06
Speaker 1: energy that night. I had Vegas energy for sure. So
• 7:10
Speaker 1: just wanted to be out all night. And yeah that
• 7:14
Speaker 1: was fun. And now we're on with Stacy. She has
• 7:32
Speaker 1: a scandalous story from sorority college life.
• 7:37
  Speaker 7: Hi Jia, Hi.
• 7:38
Speaker 4: Stacy, how are you good? How are you good?
• 7:42
  Speaker 8: Oh?
• 7:42
Speaker 3: I'm in Vegas right now, so I think your story
• 7:45
  Speaker 3: pertains to Vegas.
• 7:47
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 7:47
Speaker 8: I could see a lot of people in Vegas acting
• 7:51
Speaker 8: the way this fraternity boy did in my incident.
• 7:54
Speaker 4: Oh wow, okay, I'm excited to hear it. Yeah.
• 7:58
Speaker 8: It's been like, oh gosh, how many years is like
• 8:00
Speaker 8: seven years or so since I graduated college and I
• 8:04
Speaker 8: was really involved in my sorority.
• 8:06
Speaker 7: I was social chair. And I don't know about where you.
• 8:09
Speaker 8: Went to school, but social chair usually like plans all
• 8:11
Speaker 8: the formals and date dashes.
• 8:13
Speaker 4: Yeah I did. I was special chair of events.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: So oh yeah, so some of like certain things, yeah exactly.
• 8:19
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 8:20
Speaker 8: So we had a formal like in December before we
• 8:23
Speaker 8: went on a winter break, and I'm checking people in
• 8:27
Speaker 8: and if people were too drunk their date or themselves,
• 8:30
Speaker 8: like my sorority sisters the security guard would tell me,
• 8:33
Speaker 8: and I was supposed to be the one to say, like, sorry.
• 8:35
Speaker 7: You can't come to the form right. Was that the
• 8:39
  Speaker 7: same for you.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: Too, basically, like if you were like blacked out, like
• 8:43
Speaker 3: you couldn't write right.
• 8:45
Speaker 7: So I was checking everyone in and one of my.
• 8:48
Speaker 8: Sorority sisters, who I was actually really friendly with, had
• 8:51
Speaker 8: her crazy boyfriend who was in another fraternity on campus,
• 8:56
Speaker 8: and the security guard and I fully look at each
• 8:58
  Speaker 8: other because.
• 8:59
Speaker 2: He was very drunk.
• 9:01
Speaker 8: So it was very clear that it would be a
• 9:03
Speaker 8: liability if he went to the formal, so I had
• 9:06
Speaker 8: to be the one to tell him, I'm sorry, you
• 9:07
Speaker 8: guys can't come, and they obviously freaked out but walked away.
• 9:11
Speaker 7: So I thought that's the end of it. So we
• 9:15
Speaker 7: go on the party bus.
• 9:17
Speaker 8: Everything was perfect, and then I get back to the
• 9:21
Speaker 8: sorority and get off.
• 9:22
Speaker 7: The party bus and the house.
• 9:25
Speaker 8: Mom of my sorority and the president were like, Hi, Stacy,
• 9:28
Speaker 8: we need to show you something, and I was like,
• 9:30
Speaker 8: oh gosh, what happened? And I walk over to my
• 9:33
Speaker 8: car in the parking lot because I drove to the sorority.
• 9:36
  Speaker 7: I didn't live in a sorty, but I had to
• 9:37
Speaker 7: like unload things for.
• 9:38
Speaker 8: The party and whatnot, and the fraternity boy basically took
• 9:44
Speaker 8: a soroc bottle to my entire windshield and glass from
• 9:49
Speaker 8: the front of my car and stomped on my car
• 9:51
Speaker 8: and just completely keyed the side of it, just totally
• 9:55
  Speaker 8: ruined it.
• 9:57
Speaker 7: Because I didn't let him in, yes, and.
• 10:00
Speaker 8: I didn't know who it was right away, so I
• 10:02
Speaker 8: was like bowing crying.
• 10:03
Speaker 7: I'm like, are you kidding me? That they knew? It
• 10:06
Speaker 7: was like someone on campus?
• 10:08
Speaker 3: Okay, that's just like so od And it wasn't even
• 10:11
Speaker 3: his date party, like it was your sororities Like I
• 10:14
Speaker 3: would get it. I understand if he was maybe so
• 10:17
Speaker 3: mad that he couldn't get into his own date party,
• 10:19
Speaker 3: but the fact that he did it to you and it.
• 10:22
Speaker 4: Was like it was your sorority date party, like they.
• 10:24
Speaker 3: Could have gone out afterwards to like a bar at
• 10:27
Speaker 3: school or like done something else, and especially if they
• 10:30
Speaker 3: were dating, like just enjoy your night with your girlfriend
• 10:33
Speaker 3: then at that point, or just like go to bed.
• 10:35
Speaker 3: The fact that he did that afterwards is insane. Like
• 10:38
Speaker 3: I think like mental asylum, Like I don't even think
• 10:41
Speaker 3: that that's normal, right, Like you have issues.
• 10:45
Speaker 8: And she ended up getting dropped from a sorority and
• 10:47
Speaker 8: he got a dropped from his fraternity because Panaltik found out.
• 10:50
Speaker 3: And it was just like that worth No, I mean,
• 10:53
Speaker 3: you completely vandalized and ruined someone's car, like definitely, like.
• 10:59
Speaker 4: Meant institute vibes exactly. He's admitted. I wonder where he's
• 11:05
  Speaker 4: at now.
• 11:06
Speaker 7: I don't know. He had to pay me back. I'm like,
• 11:08
Speaker 7: are you kidding me?
• 11:09
Speaker 4: Like, oh my god, he had to pay you back. Yeah,
• 11:12
  Speaker 4: I mean I.
• 11:12
Speaker 7: Had to get my car fixed. I wasn't even drivable.
• 11:15
  Speaker 4: Oh my god.
• 11:16
  Speaker 9: Wow.
• 11:17
Speaker 4: So I'm sure that was a pretty penny too.
• 11:20
Speaker 8: Yeah, And you know, I was starred after that. I
• 11:22
Speaker 8: didn't want to be social show anymore. I didn't think
• 11:25
Speaker 8: people would act like that.
• 11:27
  Speaker 3: I mean, of course, I mean that's just not that's
• 11:29
Speaker 3: just not a normal way to act.
• 11:30
  Speaker 4: But it's you.
• 11:31
Speaker 3: Know, it's I feel like, especially with guys, they get
• 11:35
Speaker 3: a little carried away sometimes when they're drinking and they
• 11:37
Speaker 3: get that like macho masculine vibe and just want to
• 11:41
Speaker 3: you know, dominate and show their dominance.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: And that was his way of doing it.
• 11:46
Speaker 3: I mean, I thought you were going to go with
• 11:47
Speaker 3: this story telling me that they ended up ubering to
• 11:50
Speaker 3: the venue of the day party and tried to like
• 11:52
Speaker 3: sneak in, but then it really.
• 11:54
Speaker 7: Took a turn that would be better.
• 11:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I thought they were just going to
• 11:58
Speaker 3: like really try to make their way into the state party.
• 12:02
Speaker 4: Wow, that's crazy. I'm so sorry about that.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: But I'm happy, Like I'm happier okay now, And I'm
• 12:10
Speaker 3: happy he paid for your car and got kicked out
• 12:13
Speaker 3: of his fraternity well deserved.
• 12:15
Speaker 8: Yeah, well deserved. And everyone just completely blacklisted them. So
• 12:19
Speaker 8: they did it for themselves. But I will never forget that.
• 12:24
Speaker 4: I would not either.
• 12:26
Speaker 3: That is crazy. Oh, Stacy, Well, I'm so sorry. That
• 12:30
Speaker 3: would definitely scar me too. But that is a crazy story.
• 12:35
  Speaker 3: I wish I had a story like that that I
• 12:37
  Speaker 3: could tell, but I I don't. But I'm so sorry
• 12:41
Speaker 3: that happened to you, Sdacy.
• 12:43
Speaker 8: I'm sure you experienced crazy fraternity boys.
• 12:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely experienced crazy fraternity boys. I mean yeah, I
• 12:52
Speaker 3: mean this one guy was dating my best friend and
• 12:58
Speaker 3: he was definitely aggressive with her, not the best boyfriend,
• 13:04
Speaker 3: And it happened at the frat house.
• 13:08
Speaker 4: And I literally saw red because.
• 13:12
Speaker 3: I kind of went through something similar through one instinct,
• 13:16
Speaker 3: like in one time of my life.
• 13:18
Speaker 4: So I literally saw red.
• 13:21
Speaker 3: And I ran up to my friend's ex boyfriend and
• 13:25
Speaker 3: literally like punched him in the face.
• 13:26
Speaker 4: And like all of my all of my friends, like all.
• 13:29
Speaker 3: My guy friends in the fraternity were like she had
• 13:33
Speaker 3: Like they were like hold.
• 13:34
Speaker 4: And I was like, guys, I'm fine.
• 13:36
Speaker 3: I feel good now, like I did that, like he
• 13:38
Speaker 3: can leave, like and then we obviously had to like
• 13:41
Speaker 3: call the cops and my friend never spoke to this
• 13:45
Speaker 3: man again because I'm like, dude, I literally punched someone.
• 13:48
Speaker 4: For you, Like, You're never speaking to this guy again.
• 13:51
Speaker 7: Your friend wasn't mad at you.
• 13:53
Speaker 4: No, oh my god, no, like she no, she knew
• 13:57
Speaker 4: that I did. And they were like on the like
• 13:59
Speaker 4: on the cusp of like breaking up, like it was right.
• 14:02
Speaker 3: It was very bad, but but yeah, this was like
• 14:06
Speaker 3: the icing on the cake. And that was the worst
• 14:08
Speaker 3: encounter I've ever had with a FRAP brother. But like
• 14:11
Speaker 3: all of my guy friends in the fraternity were.
• 14:13
Speaker 4: Like, gee, yah, are you are you crazy?
• 14:17
Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I'm not crazy, Like he
• 14:20
Speaker 3: just like put his hands on my friend.
• 14:22
Speaker 4: I'm not crazy at all.
• 14:24
Speaker 7: But I'm glad you did that. You have to stand
• 14:26
Speaker 7: up for your friends.
• 14:27
Speaker 3: No, yeah, but they were you know, I think no
• 14:31
Speaker 3: frap boy would ever mess with me again, No, or
• 14:33
Speaker 3: my friends for that matter.
• 14:35
Speaker 7: But whoever listens to this no is not the mess
• 14:37
Speaker 7: with you. Oh my gosh. Yeah.
• 14:41
Speaker 8: Well, anyone out there who's a social chair, just be
• 14:44
Speaker 8: careful because you never know.
• 14:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely be careful.
• 14:47
Speaker 3: That's crazy, you crazy, You deal with some crazy people, exactly.
• 14:52
Speaker 7: Yeah, drinking doesn't help.
• 14:54
Speaker 3: No, drinking doesn't help. And for some odd reason, I
• 14:56
Speaker 3: think it just really esque. It's men's testosterones to another level.
• 15:03
Speaker 8: So right, they have to just act cool in front
• 15:06
Speaker 8: of their fraternity brothers and then now.
• 15:08
Speaker 3: And for whatever reason, like violence is always the answer,
• 15:13
Speaker 3: whether it's like getting into a fight outside the bar
• 15:17
Speaker 3: or like doing something completely out of line and inappropriate.
• 15:22
Speaker 4: Like boys always result.
• 15:24
Speaker 3: To violence when they're drinking. Yeah, most most boys, I
• 15:29
Speaker 3: should not say all boys, but most right.
• 15:33
Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, No, people would always head butt in my college,
• 15:35
Speaker 8: like like get in fights, like things were just weird.
• 15:39
Speaker 8: Not my not my cup, no, not my cup a.
• 15:41
Speaker 4: D No, definitely not.
• 15:43
Speaker 3: Well, Stacey, I'm glad you're okay now, thank you for
• 15:46
Speaker 3: sharing your story. And yeah, social chairs. Definitely be careful.
• 15:50
Speaker 3: Maybe you have maybe you have security on backup.
• 15:53
Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, for sure. Well, thank you, Gia, thank you.
• 16:12
Speaker 2: Hi guys, it's Daisy and I have one of my
• 16:15
Speaker 2: producers here with me.
• 16:16
  Speaker 5: Hi, guys.
• 16:17
Speaker 2: We're so excited and being in Vegas. It kind of
• 16:20
Speaker 2: got me thinking back to my first time I came
• 16:23
Speaker 2: to Vegas. It was actually for a frat formal with Pike,
• 16:29
Speaker 2: and that was the first time I had been there.
• 16:31
  Speaker 6: That is crazy.
• 16:32
Speaker 5: How old were you?
• 16:33
Speaker 2: I was nineteen. It was my freshman year, so I
• 16:36
Speaker 2: feel like you're still figuring out college. I mean, you
• 16:38
  Speaker 2: can't even age.
• 16:40
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 16:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, but we were like doing the college thing, so yeah,
• 16:44
Speaker 2: we were finding ways to everyone have fake IDs. But
• 16:51
Speaker 2: my first time in Vegas, so one of my best
• 16:54
Speaker 2: friend Christy, who I talk about pretty often, but we
• 16:56
Speaker 2: were freshman roommates. We weren't best friends until moved in,
• 17:00
Speaker 2: but anyway, we had a really good friend Joseph, and
• 17:05
Speaker 2: like a week before they did their formal, his date
• 17:09
Speaker 2: like ditched him, so he didn't have a date and
• 17:11
Speaker 2: he was like venting to us about it. Me and
• 17:13
Speaker 2: Chrissy were like, well, we'll go with you, but you
• 17:15
Speaker 2: have to bring both of us. He was like, I
• 17:17
Speaker 2: don't know if I can do that, and so he
• 17:19
Speaker 2: reached out to his like fraternity whatever. He was also
• 17:23
Speaker 2: a freshman, and they were like, sure, you can bring
• 17:25
Speaker 2: them both. So we both went to Vegas and that
• 17:29
Speaker 2: was my first time coming here, and we did like
• 17:32
Speaker 2: all the things. Where was that movie filmed? What's that casino?
• 17:37
Speaker 2: Or not the casino? It's like a hotel they filmed
• 17:39
Speaker 2: a movie in. Is it The Hangover?
• 17:42
  Speaker 9: Oh?
• 17:42
Speaker 6: Is it The Hangover? Caesar's Palace?
• 17:45
  Speaker 2: Yes, okay palace?
• 17:47
Speaker 5: Yeah? And stay the Break That is a crazy place.
• 17:52
Speaker 2: And so Pike like rented out that like area or whatever,
• 17:58
Speaker 2: and so we were all in there like hanging out
• 18:00
Speaker 2: a lot of people like weren't twenty one, and if
• 18:02
Speaker 2: you're twenty one, using in fake in Vegas like it
• 18:04
Speaker 2: doesn't really work. So we were just kind of doing
• 18:06
Speaker 2: what we could, you know. Yeah. But then one night
• 18:09
Speaker 2: we were walking back on the strip and I mean,
• 18:12
Speaker 2: you see all this like craziness on the strip, and
• 18:15
Speaker 2: this guy comes up to us and he's like, do
• 18:16
Speaker 2: you guys want to get in a limo? He's like
• 18:19
Speaker 2: a promoter, He says, do you want to get in
• 18:21
Speaker 2: this limo to go to this club. Everything is free,
• 18:24
Speaker 2: and we were like nineteen, We're like, okay, yeah, let's
• 18:28
  Speaker 2: do it.
• 18:28
Speaker 5: It's terrifying. You were just no hesitation gone in the car.
• 18:32
  Speaker 2: I don't know, that's what I'm saying, Like nineteen year
• 18:33
Speaker 2: old me, she was crazy. But so we were with
• 18:38
Speaker 2: me and Chrissy, were with Joseph and a couple other
• 18:41
Speaker 2: of like the guys, and so we got in this
• 18:43
Speaker 2: limo and we're like, okay, this is awesome. There's alcohol
• 18:47
Speaker 2: in the limo. The driver's like in a suit. Never
• 18:50
Speaker 2: been to Vegas before, thought we were going to this club.
• 18:53
Speaker 2: We pull up to the said club and we walk
• 18:59
Speaker 2: inside and first of all, all they said we didn't
• 19:00
Speaker 2: have to pay anything. Me and Christy could go in,
• 19:02
Speaker 2: but the guys had to pay. We walk in and
• 19:05
Speaker 2: there's like a wrestling match of people in like a
• 19:08
  Speaker 2: boxing ring.
• 19:09
Speaker 5: All these men like boxing ring in the middle of
• 19:12
  Speaker 5: the club.
• 19:12
Speaker 2: Yes, like in these crazy outfits. And then it was
• 19:16
Speaker 2: like looking a little strange in their like wasn't giving
• 19:18
Speaker 2: club vibes. And then all of a sudden, all these
• 19:21
Speaker 2: strippers walk out and we were at a strip club.
• 19:24
Speaker 5: And you had no idea walking in there?
• 19:27
Speaker 2: What did I want?
• 19:28
Speaker 5: You had no idea, no idea.
• 19:29
Speaker 2: When we walked in, it was like the wrestling match going,
• 19:31
Speaker 2: so I don't know why that was there. And then
• 19:35
Speaker 2: it was strippers. I had never been to a strip
• 19:36
Speaker 2: club before. This is unreal bedroom and then we were
• 19:43
Speaker 2: like at there and of course it's like a bunch
• 19:45
Speaker 2: of nineteen year old guys with us, like they're they're
• 19:48
Speaker 2: having the time of their life. Okay, first time in Vegas.
• 19:51
  Speaker 2: They're at a strip club, like that's that's the high
• 19:54
Speaker 2: of their year. And then me and Christy are like, okay,
• 19:59
Speaker 2: let's find the bar and get it drink and we
• 20:00
Speaker 2: go and it's a no alcohol place, like they don't
• 20:03
Speaker 2: have alcohol, and we were like this is something like what,
• 20:07
Speaker 2: I don't know. It was just it was like the
• 20:09
Speaker 2: craziest thing, though, that.
• 20:11
Speaker 6: Is insanely counterintuitive to not have alcohol. Out of places,
• 20:16
Speaker 6: we have a wrestling match, we're on the strip, right,
• 20:19
  Speaker 6: no alcohol.
• 20:20
Speaker 2: I was like, honestly, it was a great first time
• 20:22
Speaker 2: in Vegas because I was like, I was such a
• 20:25
Speaker 2: good story and I'm like, okay, that's like that's what
• 20:28
Speaker 2: happens in Vegas, you know what. I mean I remember
• 20:31
Speaker 2: getting back when we like left and I was like, Okay,
• 20:34
Speaker 2: I feel like so gross, I feel so dirty. I
• 20:38
Speaker 2: need to go to church.
• 20:39
Speaker 6: It's also like, how do you explain that to someone else?
• 20:43
Speaker 5: Like I feel like they.
• 20:44
  Speaker 2: Woult you can't.
• 20:46
Speaker 6: I know, it's nuts. And the fact that that was
• 20:49
Speaker 6: your sorority or your first fraternity for that, that was what
• 20:52
Speaker 6: woever Yeah too traveled for.
• 20:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was my first. So I've been to other
• 20:57
Speaker 2: fraternity foremost before that, but that was my first, like
• 21:00
Speaker 2: ain one. Yeah, and it was in Vegas. Tons we
• 21:04
  Speaker 2: were all nineteen.
• 21:07
Speaker 4: What a story. I love it.
• 21:09
Speaker 6: So you're nineteen years old, you're gearing up for Vegas.
• 21:15
Speaker 6: How are you getting to Vegas? Did everyone road trip?
• 21:17
Speaker 6: Were there are buses? Because I've heard of fraternity formals
• 21:21
Speaker 6: that take kids on buses and it's a whole organized thing.
• 21:24
Speaker 5: But was it structured like that?
• 21:26
Speaker 2: So sometimes we had ones like that, but this one wasn't.
• 21:29
Speaker 2: It was kind of like everybody like get in a
• 21:32
Speaker 2: car and bring your day because it was it was
• 21:34
Speaker 2: some like weird break in school or no, it was
• 21:37
Speaker 2: Easter weekend, so it was like a weird break. So people, Yeah,
• 21:40
Speaker 2: we were at the strip club Saturday night on Sunday
• 21:44
  Speaker 2: the next day.
• 21:45
  Speaker 5: Awesome, awesome.
• 21:46
Speaker 6: That is so wild.
• 21:48
Speaker 5: And so when people go on.
• 21:50
Speaker 6: These trips, yeah, like I know, if you're in the
• 21:53
Speaker 6: sorority house, you have like how small like where how small?
• 21:56
Speaker 5: Is there any supervisious?
• 21:58
  Speaker 2: So I think sororities, like am I experience, they're a
• 22:00
Speaker 2: lot more like I don't know what the word is,
• 22:05
Speaker 2: like careful or like they have like you have like risk,
• 22:07
Speaker 2: like management or whatever. So it's like some people are
• 22:10
Speaker 2: like sober the whole time and making sure everyone's like okay.
• 22:13
Speaker 2: But I feel like frats from my experience, are more
• 22:16
Speaker 2: of like a free for all and it's just like
• 22:19
Speaker 2: like we were just like you're just having the timing
• 22:23
Speaker 2: of your life and you're nineteen years old. Yeah, I
• 22:25
Speaker 2: mean there's upperclassmen, but like how old are they? Like
• 22:27
  Speaker 2: twenty two?
• 22:28
  Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean.
• 22:31
Speaker 2: Like you're an adult, but like you're not, you know
• 22:33
  Speaker 2: what I mean?
• 22:33
  Speaker 4: Yeah?
• 22:34
Speaker 6: That is so wild. Yeah, And how many people do
• 22:37
Speaker 6: you think went on this trip?
• 22:38
Speaker 2: I think there's probably like one twenty And then they
• 22:40
Speaker 2: all bring a date. Yeah, and then they all bring
• 22:42
Speaker 2: a date that's in our days case, he brought two dates.
• 22:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, so who knows how many people snuck onto this trip?
• 22:49
Speaker 5: Yeah, I love it.
• 22:50
Speaker 6: So post all of this happening. Yes, but did we
• 22:53
Speaker 6: ever see this promoter again? How did we get home?
• 22:56
Speaker 2: Like, so I believe we just took we took uber home, okay,
• 23:01
Speaker 2: and then but no, we never saw the promoter again.
• 23:04
Speaker 6: Sad, I feel like you deserved to thank you know.
• 23:06
Speaker 2: For something literally. And then it was funny though, because
• 23:11
Speaker 2: so all of like the upper classmen, they're like twenty one,
• 23:14
Speaker 2: so they were all like at the actual like club,
• 23:18
Speaker 2: but we can get into the actual club. So we
• 23:21
Speaker 2: were at a strip club, I guess, but I remember
• 23:24
Speaker 2: the next day they were like all like jerried about
• 23:28
Speaker 2: their nights, like, well we ended up at the strip club,
• 23:31
Speaker 2: and all the upper classmen were like wait.
• 23:33
Speaker 6: What I bet because they probably thought they had the
• 23:38
Speaker 6: craziest night. Yeah, able to get into all the places. Yeah,
• 23:41
Speaker 6: you're like a story for you.
• 23:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were like, no, the freshmen had the craziest night.
• 23:45
Speaker 6: Yeah. So while you're at the strip club, yeah, people
• 23:49
Speaker 6: taking out singles, Like what was going on? How was
• 23:52
Speaker 6: everybody reacting to being in this environment?
• 23:55
Speaker 2: I mean yeah, all the guys were like throwing money
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: for sure.
• 23:58
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 23:59
Speaker 2: I was kind of like and I was like, what
• 24:01
Speaker 2: is happening? It was like almost like like you don't
• 24:03
Speaker 2: like you're like, is this real life?
• 24:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, it actually happening.
• 24:09
Speaker 2: It's also like I'm nineteen years old from the middle
• 24:12
Speaker 2: of nowhere, Minnesota, like a town of like under two
• 24:15
Speaker 2: thousand people, Like this is absurd to me, Like this
• 24:18
Speaker 2: is nothing I've ever seen before.
• 24:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, and how was that drive back to San Diego?
• 24:24
  Speaker 5: Brutal?
• 24:25
Speaker 2: I'm sure brutal and kind of like questioning, like what
• 24:30
Speaker 2: I just everything I just experienced. Okay, guys, we have
• 24:48
Speaker 2: a caller that just called in. Her name is Lauren Hi.
• 24:51
Speaker 2: Lauren Hi, Hi, How are you good? How are you
• 24:55
  Speaker 2: doing great?
• 24:56
  Speaker 9: Thanks?
• 24:57
Speaker 2: Thanks for coming on Dirty Rush. So I heard that
• 25:01
Speaker 2: you have a crazy story about Vegas.
• 25:04
Speaker 9: Yeah. So when I was in college, we had something
• 25:08
Speaker 9: called an airport party, which I had never heard of
• 25:12
Speaker 9: before getting to college. And I don't know how many
• 25:15
Speaker 9: hurders stay there around for So this is probably nineteen
• 25:19
Speaker 9: ninety three, and I went to cal in Berkeley.
• 25:24
  Speaker 2: Oh, fun.
• 25:25
Speaker 9: So what it consisted of? You went to a fraternity
• 25:29
Speaker 9: Actually it started with I went with my best friend's
• 25:33
Speaker 9: brother who was a good friend of mine, and he
• 25:36
Speaker 9: showed up at my sorority. He brought me a chia pet,
• 25:39
Speaker 9: which was a unique gift, I guess, instead of flowers,
• 25:44
Speaker 9: and picked me up and then we went back to
• 25:48
Speaker 9: his fraternity, had a bunch of cocktails for an hour
• 25:53
Speaker 9: or so, and then we went hopped on a bus
• 25:57
Speaker 9: and drove to the Oakland Airport and everyone got off
• 26:03
Speaker 9: the bus and it was you know, pre nine eleven,
• 26:06
Speaker 9: so very little security. We went straight into the terminal
• 26:11
Speaker 9: and they drew a name out of a hat and
• 26:16
Speaker 9: that person was going to win a trip to Vegas.
• 26:21
Speaker 9: And I did not pack a bag. I had no
• 26:25
Speaker 9: intention of going going to I had my formal the
• 26:29
Speaker 9: next night, and I had a boyfriend that I was going,
• 26:34
Speaker 9: you know with to my formal, So wasn't planning on going. Yeah,
• 26:39
Speaker 9: I guess all of the cocktails and a lot of coaxing,
• 26:45
Speaker 9: we decided we were going to go. So someone gave
• 26:47
Speaker 9: me like their hair brush, and I don't know what
• 26:50
Speaker 9: else they had in their bag.
• 26:52
Speaker 2: You're like, who has something I can take with me
• 26:54
Speaker 2: to Vegas? Because I'm like.
• 26:55
Speaker 9: Okay, so I'm gonna have a hair brush and that's it.
• 26:58
Speaker 9: I have no clothes, nothing, and so we left everyone.
• 27:02
Speaker 9: I don't know where the rest of the party went,
• 27:05
Speaker 9: but we boarded the flight. It was a Southwest flight
• 27:09
Speaker 9: and in those days they had the phones on the
• 27:13
Speaker 9: back of the airplane seats. And my Day and I
• 27:19
Speaker 9: our parents grew up together. They went to cal together,
• 27:22
Speaker 9: really good friends in each other's weddings, and so we
• 27:26
Speaker 9: decided to call our parents. I think it was probably
• 27:28
Speaker 9: like eleven thirty, I'm sure we woke them both up
• 27:32
Speaker 9: and said, you know, we're going to Vegas. We won
• 27:34
Speaker 9: this trip, and they didn't quite grasp what we were doing,
• 27:38
Speaker 9: but they just you two, just the two of us.
• 27:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, what did your boyfriend think of that?
• 27:44
Speaker 9: Well, he was not that happy. I mean, I don't
• 27:48
Speaker 9: think he was like threatened that I was going with
• 27:50
Speaker 9: my friend, but I think he was like, you're going
• 27:52
Speaker 9: to be super hungover for your formal that I'm coming
• 27:56
Speaker 9: out for. He was out of college and older, so yeah,
• 28:02
Speaker 9: I mean, he wasn't thrilled, but whatever, it was fine
• 28:05
Speaker 9: and we you know, fly there, get off the plane.
• 28:11
Speaker 9: By this point it was like seemed like maybe a
• 28:14
Speaker 9: good idea. And then by the time we got there,
• 28:17
Speaker 9: we were both like super tired and wondering why we
• 28:21
Speaker 9: agreed to this. But we go to the fancy Luxor Hotel,
• 28:26
Speaker 9: which I'm not sure if that's even still there anymore,
• 28:28
Speaker 9: but it was like that weird pyramid hotel in Vegas.
• 28:31
Speaker 2: Oh okay, I know what you're talking about.
• 28:33
  Speaker 5: Yeah, And.
• 28:35
Speaker 9: He went up to the check in and said that
• 28:39
Speaker 9: it was our honeymoon and that we needed to be
• 28:42
Speaker 9: upgraded to the honeymoon's suite, and he just kept going
• 28:45
Speaker 9: back and forth with them. They're like, no, no, no,
• 28:48
Speaker 9: that's not what it was booked for. And he just
• 28:52
Speaker 9: kept saying, well, we're going to have a baby tonight.
• 28:54
Speaker 9: We're going to conceive a baby, and it needs to
• 28:56
Speaker 9: be in the honeymoon suite. And I'm like, oh my god,
• 28:58
Speaker 9: I just want to go to bed. So anyway, they
• 29:01
Speaker 9: gave us the honeymoons we which at the Luxor is
• 29:04
Speaker 9: nothing fancy, and it reeked of smoke, and we just
• 29:10
Speaker 9: went to bed. Like by that point, I don't even
• 29:13
Speaker 9: think we gambled. If we did, I don't remember us
• 29:16
Speaker 9: to sleep, Yeah, just like fly all the way there
• 29:20
Speaker 9: and go to sleep. We woke up super early. We
• 29:26
Speaker 9: reeked of smoke. I was in my clothes from the
• 29:28
Speaker 9: night before, and we just decided that we were ready
• 29:33
Speaker 9: to go home. So we literally probably got there at
• 29:36
Speaker 9: one in the morning, and I think we were on
• 29:39
Speaker 9: like a seven am flight, right, And so that's hilarious.
• 29:44
Speaker 9: I think all that came out of it was a
• 29:46
  Speaker 9: good story.
• 29:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, how are you for your formal?
• 29:49
Speaker 9: Then I was hungover, but my boyfriend did come and
• 29:54
Speaker 9: he didn't get me a chia pet, so that was
• 29:56
Speaker 9: kind of a bummer. I was really hoping for two
• 29:58
Speaker 9: in one weekend, and yeah, that was kind of it.
• 30:01
Speaker 9: Like it was super you know, fun story. I don't
• 30:05
Speaker 9: know that if like I felt great when I was
• 30:08
Speaker 9: doing it, but it was fun.
• 30:11
Speaker 2: It's like one of those things where you're like, oh,
• 30:12
Speaker 2: this is so awesome. I'm like this is great, and
• 30:14
Speaker 2: then you get there and you're like, wait.
• 30:17
Speaker 9: Yeah, why am I here? Why am I here? But yeah,
• 30:20
Speaker 9: I mean I guess if thirty years later I can
• 30:22
Speaker 9: tell the story and it's a little fits my daughter
• 30:25
Speaker 9: hearing it, then I guess it was worth it.
• 30:28
Speaker 2: It's crazy to think about like airports, like back then
• 30:30
Speaker 2: you could just like walk in yeah, and like you
• 30:34
Speaker 2: fully just had like a full like fraternity party in
• 30:38
  Speaker 2: the airport.
• 30:39
Speaker 9: Yeah, and I think you could just go up to
• 30:43
Speaker 9: the ticket counter and just buy a ticket right then
• 30:46
Speaker 9: and there, or I don't know if they had already
• 30:48
Speaker 9: bought tickets and then they just put our names on them.
• 30:51
Speaker 9: Oh okay, because they didn't know until they drew the
• 30:54
Speaker 9: name who was going.
• 30:56
  Speaker 2: That is crazy.
• 30:57
Speaker 9: Oh, we were the lucky winners.
• 30:59
Speaker 2: I wonder they still do that.
• 31:01
  Speaker 9: I don't think so. I don't think so. I've never
• 31:05
Speaker 9: heard of anyone, and actually i've had I asked a
• 31:07
Speaker 9: couple of people today who went to cal who are
• 31:11
Speaker 9: a little bit older. I'm like, did you guys ever
• 31:12
Speaker 9: go to an airport party? And they're like, I have
• 31:14
Speaker 9: no idea what you're talking about.
• 31:15
Speaker 2: Honestly, someone should bring that back. But you just draw
• 31:18
Speaker 2: the name at the fraternity and then that person in
• 31:21
Speaker 2: their date. I have to send it to Vegas like
• 31:23
  Speaker 2: twenty four hours.
• 31:25
Speaker 9: I think it'd be great. So do you even do
• 31:27
Speaker 9: you know what a chia pet is? Have you heard
• 31:30
  Speaker 9: of them? No?
• 31:30
  Speaker 2: I don't even train like a stuffed animal, like a
• 31:32
  Speaker 2: weird stuffed animal.
• 31:34
Speaker 9: No, it's actually I think it was like made of
• 31:37
Speaker 9: clay and they came in different shapes. I think this
• 31:42
Speaker 9: was like I don't know, maybe a cow or a pig,
• 31:45
Speaker 9: and then you watered it.
• 31:48
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, green grass or grows out of it. Okay,
• 31:54
Speaker 2: now I know what you're talking about.
• 31:55
  Speaker 5: That, sir.
• 31:57
Speaker 9: I bet you they still sell them. I don't think
• 32:00
Speaker 9: think it was a common thing that they gave people for,
• 32:02
Speaker 9: you know, us date gifts. But I do think you
• 32:05
Speaker 9: could probably find one. It's like a mister potato head
• 32:08
Speaker 9: kind of you know, like, yeah, it's timeless.
• 32:11
Speaker 2: Well did your chia pet? Did it grow? It's grass hair?
• 32:15
  Speaker 9: I think it grew. I don't know how long I
• 32:17
Speaker 9: kept it. I feel like my room was really small
• 32:19
Speaker 9: and it was going to take up some much needed space.
• 32:23
