- 0:00Speaker 1: What an honor one a moment, the first American champion
- 0:03Speaker 1: in a decade, the youngest to do it since two
- 0:06Speaker 1: thousand and two. Cocoa golf is the role on garreage
- 0:09Speaker 1: champions to honor this moment. And now that you're twenty one,
- 0:15Speaker 1: we do want to celebrate.
- 0:16Speaker 2: You want to you want to pop.
- 0:18Speaker 3: A bottle or pop to him. But Taylor helped me.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Do you need guidance?
- 0:24Speaker 2: All right, so unscrew that.
- 0:26Speaker 1: We're I'm gonna protect Chrissy.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I'm kind of scared.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You've never done the shaw. Okay, now you take that
- 0:31Speaker 1: off the cage all right, Okay, amazing, Oh boy, Okay,
- 0:35Speaker 1: Now you're gonna aim it that way Okay, and you're
- 0:38Speaker 1: just gonna push it.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yes, that's it. That's way with nails, nails.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It's a little bit tougher.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Oh god, I think I'm a great man to get
- 0:47Speaker 4: in there.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yees arazy.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I did a waterfall guy the lights out there? Now
- 1:02Speaker 3: that's actually not too bad?
- 1:03Speaker 5: Should report?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yeah, celebrate, cheers, goodness as Chrissy, Ever, this is not.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Gonna go well because I eat anything since the fruit
- 1:12Speaker 3: on court.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So it's gonna go great.
- 1:14Speaker 4: The most simple question that exists.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Can you believe it?
- 1:18Speaker 3: You did it? How does it feel? Yeah, it's like
- 1:21Speaker 3: it feels crazy. I couldn't believe it, especially like the
- 1:24Speaker 3: way the match was. It was just so windy, it
- 1:26Speaker 3: was so hard to play tennis. And then after that
- 1:30Speaker 3: first match point, I was like, come on now, just
- 1:32Speaker 3: give me one, and then yeah, it feels crazy. Honestly,
- 1:36Speaker 3: you know, regardless of how many matchpoints you have, when
- 1:39Speaker 3: it's finally over, that reaction is just so natural. I
- 1:42Speaker 3: always thought on TV like they were faking it, but
- 1:45Speaker 3: they're not.
- 1:46Speaker 6: So falling and getting in the play it.
- 1:49Speaker 4: That was what happened.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I told myself I would never fall at French Open
- 1:52Speaker 3: because I didn't want claim I hear, and I literally
- 1:54Speaker 3: said that before the match. I was Yeah, before the match,
- 1:57Speaker 3: I said I was gonna go on my knees and
- 2:01Speaker 3: if I were to win, I would fall on my knees.
- 2:04Speaker 3: But then I was just so happy.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Didn't you end up the other way too?
- 2:09Speaker 3: I don't on your stomach.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Probably we saw your dad when you went up afterwards
- 2:13Speaker 2: into your box to greet every When your dad took
- 2:15Speaker 2: the towel and kind of.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Went he was looking out for me. Usually That's something
- 2:20Speaker 3: my mom would do. So I'm glad he paid attention.
- 2:23Speaker 1: To you such a big because.
- 2:29Speaker 4: First first year.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Cool please go oh no, no, no, no, You're so emotional.
- 2:39Speaker 5: You look so surprised, Like did you really not think
- 2:42Speaker 5: that you could win that match?
- 2:44Speaker 3: I did obviously before going into it, and then you
- 2:47Speaker 3: go down then break in the first set, and then
- 2:49Speaker 3: after losing like the set like that. Yeah, and you're
- 2:52Speaker 3: playing Irena, so it's like she's obviously the best player
- 2:55Speaker 3: in the world and playing great tennis, so it really
- 2:58Speaker 3: doesn't feel real. And and I've only had Grand Slam
- 3:02Speaker 3: finals against Ego and Arina, which is the best players
- 3:05Speaker 3: on the court, so it doesn't really feel real into
- 3:07Speaker 3: it's over.
- 3:07Speaker 5: But after that first set, did that discourage you or
- 3:10Speaker 5: were you even more determined to win the match?
- 3:14Speaker 3: I was more determined. I think it did discourage me,
- 3:17Speaker 3: just because I was up in that tie breaker and
- 3:18Speaker 3: playing against Madison. I was up four two as well,
- 3:21Speaker 3: and I was telling myself not to let the same
- 3:23Speaker 3: thing happen, and it did. But overall, I think I
- 3:26Speaker 3: when I went to the bathroom and used the bathroom
- 3:28Speaker 3: and then just told myself, I just got to give
- 3:31Speaker 3: it my all and give myself the best shot to win.
- 3:33Speaker 4: When you're in that final game and you're that close
- 3:37Speaker 4: to achieving something so special, you look so calm to us.
- 3:41Speaker 4: What's going on behind the mask.
- 3:43Speaker 3: It's so tough. Like first I was thinking about the wind,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and I was like, oh my gosh, this side is
- 3:47Speaker 3: the worst side to serve on. I was like, please,
- 3:49Speaker 3: why can I feel the other side of the court.
- 3:52Speaker 3: And then I was just like, I just got to
- 3:54Speaker 3: go for my shots. And I was just telling myself
- 3:56Speaker 3: high toss, keep my left arm up, and just trying
- 3:59Speaker 3: my to be honest. And I was definitely super nervous
- 4:02Speaker 3: that last game, but I knew I had to kind
- 4:05Speaker 3: of take it from her and not give it to
- 4:07Speaker 3: her because she would take it from me.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Speaking of the wind, it just poured round rain out here.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You went into the match, you knew it was going
- 4:13Speaker 2: to be windy and swirly. You both probably maybe didn't
- 4:15Speaker 2: play your cleanest match you've ever played. Now, did you
- 4:18Speaker 2: consciously go into the match telling yourself, hey, let's not
- 4:21Speaker 2: outwardly show frustration toward the wind, because every time the
- 4:23Speaker 2: camera was on you, boom, you looked like nothing was
- 4:26Speaker 2: bothering you.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I told myself like that before the match. I
- 4:30Speaker 3: was like, I just can't show anything. I a plus
- 4:33Speaker 3: with that, Yeah, thank you. I didn't know it was
- 4:35Speaker 3: going to be so windy, to be honest, just because
- 4:38Speaker 3: we practiced with the roof closed and they weren't sure
- 4:40Speaker 3: if the roof was going to be open or not,
- 4:42Speaker 3: so and I knew it was going to be a
- 4:44Speaker 3: little bit windy just from being outside. But that was
- 4:46Speaker 3: the worst. I think it reminded me of my first
- 4:48Speaker 3: round and I won that match too, and two. But
- 4:50Speaker 3: I feel like I played literally the same today. It
- 4:52Speaker 3: felt so awful, But you know that's what just outdoor tennis.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Being from Florida. Literally in the warm up when it
- 4:58Speaker 3: was windy, I was like, all right, this this is
- 5:00Speaker 3: gonna be one of those Florida practice days that you
- 5:02Speaker 3: just don't feel good, but you kind of have to
- 5:03Speaker 3: grind out.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You just posted on social media a pretty I think
- 5:08Speaker 1: you may be prescient. You can see into the future
- 5:11Speaker 1: four years ago A note. I had a dream last
- 5:14Speaker 1: night that I will win the French Open. I don't
- 5:15Speaker 1: know if it's true, if it is this year's frendsh Open,
- 5:18Speaker 1: but I had to dream about it.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yes, what was did you think of this immediately.
- 5:22Speaker 1: After you won?
- 5:23Speaker 3: I remember last night that I wrote that in my notes.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I obviously forgot about it, and for some reason the
- 5:28Speaker 3: thought came up last night. And I don't know. I
- 5:31Speaker 3: just feel like when something happens in my dreams, I
- 5:33Speaker 3: feel like it's gonna come true. And I remember like
- 5:35Speaker 3: the moment happening, and it just felt so real when
- 5:39Speaker 3: I was dreaming. I woke up and it kind of
- 5:40Speaker 3: felt disappointed and it wasn't real. So I was just like,
- 5:43Speaker 3: I gotta strive to make that. And that's the only
- 5:45Speaker 3: time I've had a dream about winning any tournament or anything.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Was there any similarities when you looked around? Can you
- 5:51Speaker 1: remember was it that vivid of a dream?
- 5:53Speaker 3: You know? I was wearing blue, and the dream obviously
- 5:56Speaker 3: wasn't that exact outfit or anything, but I remember it
- 5:58Speaker 3: being blue in a skirt in a top and yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 3: and then I had like a deja vu moment when
- 6:03Speaker 3: I was having a TV moment after the match, and
- 6:05Speaker 3: I was like, I felt like I've been here before.
- 6:06Speaker 3: It's so freaky, but yeah, it's just weird. And that
- 6:09Speaker 3: was the only time that I've felt like that with
- 6:12Speaker 3: with want or dreamt a tournament win or anything anything
- 6:15Speaker 3: with tennis. To be honest, I don't really have that
- 6:16Speaker 3: many dreams. And that's why when I lost that final
- 6:18Speaker 3: against Ega, I was like, did I just ruin the dream?
- 6:21Speaker 3: So I've always felt like this was a tournament that
- 6:22Speaker 3: I just had to win.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Amazing.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I'm going to talk about your game a little bit because,
- 6:27Speaker 5: and I've told you this before, I've been following your forehand.
- 6:31Speaker 5: That is the one stroke that everybody was really exposing.
- 6:36Speaker 5: You were having a lot of crosscore forehand rallies. People
- 6:38Speaker 5: thought you were going to maybe mishit it or break
- 6:40Speaker 5: it down. It's not happening anymore. You've changed something. What
- 6:44Speaker 5: have you changed on your forehand?
- 6:46Speaker 3: Well, I think when everybody plays you the same way,
- 6:48Speaker 3: you kind of practice it and you naturally get better,
- 6:51Speaker 3: and so just having it happen and so many times
- 6:54Speaker 3: like breaking down or feeling like it's not there. So
- 6:58Speaker 3: I just like I told myself just to accept and
- 7:00Speaker 3: I feel like when I accelerate on it the most
- 7:02Speaker 3: is when I do the best. And I knew today
- 7:03Speaker 3: that I kind of had to change the rhythm, like
- 7:06Speaker 3: with her anyways, Like regardless, I knew I couldn't stay
- 7:08Speaker 3: in too many back ind rallies with her or too
- 7:10Speaker 3: many foreign and I just had to keep changing it.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So that was a game plan going in today. And
- 7:13Speaker 3: I think just having so many people playing me the
- 7:15Speaker 3: same way because everyone placed me the same way, to
- 7:18Speaker 3: be honest, So you just get better. I just got
- 7:20Speaker 3: used to it. Yeah, you just get better.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I think you're stepping into it more and yeah, I mean.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I've definitely worked on the footwork on it, and
- 7:27Speaker 3: I still think it has a lot more improvement that
- 7:29Speaker 3: I need to improve on. It's nowhere near where I
- 7:32Speaker 3: would like it to be. But I did improve the
- 7:34Speaker 3: footwork and kind of acceleration and trying to prepare early
- 7:37Speaker 3: and be less tight on it. So yeah, I look great,
- 7:40Speaker 3: Thank you great.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Did look great. And we were listening into your press
- 7:43Speaker 4: conference too, and you know you spent some time in
- 7:45Speaker 4: France right at the Moroudical lou Academy, and you were
- 7:48Speaker 4: talking about how you were considering maybe saying some words
- 7:51Speaker 4: in French to the crowd, and you did you chicken out?
- 7:54Speaker 4: Would you like to say some French?
- 7:56Speaker 3: No, you're definitely not. You don't want to do it though, No,
- 7:58Speaker 3: I need to write it down. There's not thing I
- 8:00Speaker 3: had to write it down, And then last night I
- 8:02Speaker 3: thought about it. But I'll say, I don't want a jinxus.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I'm not going to write anything down. So yeah, maybe
- 8:07Speaker 3: next time, if I ever get that, I'll write it
- 8:09Speaker 3: down and just think here, Yeah, maybe you're but no,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I'm not too confident. Honestly, I've been slacking really bad.
- 8:17Speaker 3: But I always had the vision that I would speak
- 8:19Speaker 3: French if I won this tournament. And since I was ten,
- 8:22Speaker 3: being spending so much time at Moronsickle Academy, everybody's made
- 8:26Speaker 3: that joke to me and I should have.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You know, it's okay, well you spoke French and your
- 8:30Speaker 1: second franchial you'll get out.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Okay, your second one, the second one, okay, so second one.
- 8:36Speaker 3: If I went second one, I'll say something might not
- 8:38Speaker 3: be the whole speech, just a smidge, just a smidge, yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 3: with a taste.
- 8:43Speaker 4: We know that you were campaign.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You were superstitious. You didn't want to do that. I
- 8:46Speaker 1: know your dad gets very superstitious. He also dropped a
- 8:50Speaker 1: bar afterwards, so take a listen to what he said
- 8:53Speaker 1: when he interviewed about his shirt choice today.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Oh god, your shirt it's got a lion.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I can't be coincidence.
- 9:00Speaker 6: No. Once you won US Open, I bought a shirt
- 9:04Speaker 6: early on that's hid imagine, and I picked it out
- 9:08Speaker 6: before the tournament to wear it. And then I bought
- 9:09Speaker 6: this shirt. Initially it was because I'm a Leo. It's
- 9:11Speaker 6: a lion. And then I told I told Candid before
- 9:14Speaker 6: the show, I said, look, they bringing the tigers, so
- 9:16Speaker 6: we don't have to bring a lion.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I thought it was a tiger. When I saw him after,
- 9:23Speaker 3: I was like, he's like, I wore a lion. I
- 9:25Speaker 3: was like, this is tiger and you know it's Tyger Seal.
- 9:28Speaker 6: So I was like, who are you?
- 9:30Speaker 2: But they know it's a lion.
- 9:31Speaker 3: So I mean, you know my dad he picked out,
- 9:34Speaker 3: he picks, he does stuff, and yeah, I mean.
- 9:37Speaker 1: That was a bar in addition to all of us.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I can see the joy you're bringing to them. It's
- 9:42Speaker 2: really special.
- 9:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I think they just put so much years into this
- 9:46Speaker 3: learning and really supporting me, and I think just having
- 9:49Speaker 3: people support you more on the emotional side and and
- 9:52Speaker 3: being happy, I think it's the most important and the
- 9:54Speaker 3: game come. So just having those people protect me from
- 9:57Speaker 3: other people who maybe want other alterio motive. It means
- 10:01Speaker 3: a lot, and I'm grateful that, you know, God blessed
- 10:03Speaker 3: me with parents like that have and you.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Have blessed us with an incredible action. Thank you for everyone.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Hearing took very much.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe your first bottle.
- 10:13Speaker 6: I know.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Let's go, don't go go, Let's.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Cheers sus
