- 0:26Speaker 1: It is time to leave your warriors outside and laugh
- 0:30Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:33Speaker 1: Trade Trendhome and Jerry calledwell, today is Wednesday, October second,
- 0:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. I actually forgot to even mention it
- 0:45Speaker 1: yesterday on the show, but damn, it's already October. We
- 0:51Speaker 1: feel like we just started September. But here we are
- 0:54Speaker 1: at the beginning of October. It is no longer too
- 0:56Speaker 1: soon to put up your Halloween decorations. Get him out,
- 0:58Speaker 1: get him on, let your freak flag fly.
- 1:05Speaker 2: If you haven't bought any, you better go get them
- 1:07Speaker 2: this week because they're already starting to put Christmas decorations out.
- 1:11Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:12Speaker 1: For as much as we make fun of the Halloween
- 1:15Speaker 1: decorations starting to make appearances in the middle of this summer,
- 1:19Speaker 1: like I think we started seeing them in July, make
- 1:22Speaker 1: fun of it all you want, but that's actually the
- 1:24Speaker 1: time you got to buy them, because if you don't.
- 1:26Speaker 1: The early birds, like Tara and I used to be,
- 1:31Speaker 1: we will buy that stuff immediately because we know we
- 1:34Speaker 1: can't wait because other people will buy them and then
- 1:36Speaker 1: we won't have anything left to have new in the yard.
- 1:40Speaker 2: So the best time to buy decorations is actually at
- 1:45Speaker 2: the end of the right, Like in a couple of weeks,
- 1:50Speaker 2: you can go to Home Depot like a bunch of
- 1:52Speaker 2: different stores that sell that stuff, and now it's on clearance,
- 1:56Speaker 2: so you're just buying for the next year.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And that is absolutely the best time to do it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The downside is all the really cool things are already gone,
- 2:04Speaker 1: like the twelve foot skeletons. When those first came out,
- 2:06Speaker 1: I don't even think they made it into September. They
- 2:09Speaker 1: were sold out. They were sold out the following year
- 2:12Speaker 1: online they didn't even even make it into the stores.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But every year, especially at Home Depot and Lows, will
- 2:19Speaker 1: have those new animatronic things. There's always a new handful
- 2:22Speaker 1: each year at Spirit Halloween as well. Anytime the Eagle
- 2:28Speaker 1: feels like coming back from a previous format, there's a
- 2:33Speaker 1: Spirit Halloween just waiting outside anyway. But you've got to
- 2:41Speaker 1: be early because those cool things are gone early. At
- 2:45Speaker 1: the end, though, there are some good deals to be found.
- 2:47Speaker 1: That's where you can pick up some extra skeletons, lights,
- 2:50Speaker 1: things like that, so you can get a good deal
- 2:52Speaker 1: on those for the next year.
- 2:53Speaker 3: But you guys, decorate a lot out there on the
- 2:56Speaker 3: island for Halloween just a little bit.
- 2:59Speaker 1: We do have our house in Saint Thomas. Has Tray's
- 3:03Speaker 1: been there so he knows when you're coming up our
- 3:05Speaker 1: very steep hill because it's mountainous there. There's this rock
- 3:09Speaker 1: wall that is just beneath our driveway that our house
- 3:12Speaker 1: sits on because it's on the side of it, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: mountain basically, and it's like a two level, a two
- 3:18Speaker 1: tiered rock wall. On the first tier is technically where
- 3:23Speaker 1: the cistern is I'm sorry, not the cistern, but the
- 3:27Speaker 1: poopy tank is over there, and then next to the road,
- 3:31Speaker 1: it's just a level area. That's where we put these
- 3:33Speaker 1: skeletons in the folding chairs in front of like a
- 3:37Speaker 1: little campfire kind of thing. And so I think this
- 3:39Speaker 1: year we're putting up maybe like a spider and a
- 3:42Speaker 1: spider red behind there. Nothing to the extent that we
- 3:45Speaker 1: did when we've lived in North Texas. No competition there. Well,
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's you just don't get as much stuff because we
- 3:52Speaker 1: do have a home depot and they have some animatronics
- 3:55Speaker 1: running power and stuff like. That's kind of a pain,
- 3:58Speaker 1: especially when our power situation isn't so good. So we
- 4:01Speaker 1: have a tendency to go more rustic with the decorations,
- 4:04Speaker 1: so less on the lighting, less on the electrical pole,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and more just you know, skeleton kind of things. Anyway,
- 4:12Speaker 1: it is time to put up here Halloween decorations if
- 4:15Speaker 1: you are so inclined. And when we lived in North Texas,
- 4:19Speaker 1: we started I think it was mid September. We would
- 4:22Speaker 1: start putting stuff out just because it kind of ramp
- 4:26Speaker 1: it up because we had a lot of stuff, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: then we'd pretty much be done by the beginning of
- 4:32Speaker 1: October and it'll be up for the month. Anyway, get
- 4:34Speaker 1: that done and no one's going to look at you
- 4:37Speaker 1: sideways now. Although we did drive through Highland Park the
- 4:40Speaker 1: other day and did see the dual twelve foot skeletons
- 4:44Speaker 1: in somebody's front yard off of Mockingbird.
- 4:46Speaker 3: That was.
- 4:48Speaker 1: As if Highland Park doesn't flex enough as it is.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Were they the animatronic type of course motion activated? Were
- 4:57Speaker 3: they like talking to each other?
- 4:59Speaker 1: That I don't And it was actually they were that type,
- 5:02Speaker 1: but I didn't see them in action. It was the
- 5:04Speaker 1: middle of the day and I'm not even sure if
- 5:05Speaker 1: they were plugged in, but they were they were just
- 5:07Speaker 1: watching traffic, just watching traffic go bye. Yeah, So it's
- 5:10Speaker 1: out there. We did see some decorations start popping up
- 5:13Speaker 1: early here and there, and then occasionally you think, are
- 5:16Speaker 1: come on, it's too early for that. But it depends
- 5:19Speaker 1: on how much you're going to put up. If you're
- 5:21Speaker 1: putting up a lot, then you need to get ahead
- 5:22Speaker 1: start because it can be time consuming. And I don't
- 5:27Speaker 1: think Trey, you're not a big Halloween person, so I
- 5:30Speaker 1: think the most Halloween decoration you're doing is just that
- 5:32Speaker 1: black backdrop behind you.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right, quick question. This really isn't an addition of verses,
- 5:42Speaker 1: but I guess now that I'm thinking about it, maybe
- 5:44Speaker 1: it wouldn't be a bad one. You guys want to
- 5:47Speaker 1: do a quick opening show versus?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Sure, Sure, there we go. What's versus?
- 5:53Speaker 1: It's a great question, Jerry, Welcome to Verses where I
- 5:58Speaker 1: the host of verses. I'm going to, well, well can
- 6:00Speaker 1: you Jerry and Trey as contestant number one and contest
- 6:02Speaker 1: number two to verses where inside the treehouse, I will
- 6:05Speaker 1: ask you a question and you have to it'll be
- 6:08Speaker 1: of competing nature versus. Okay, and you have to give
- 6:12Speaker 1: me your answer? Are you ready sure? Would you rather
- 6:18Speaker 1: be single in Dallas or Fort Worth? Would you rather?
- 6:24Speaker 1: This is versus? Would you rather be single in Dallas
- 6:28Speaker 1: or Fort Worth? I'll give you a moment to think
- 6:30Speaker 1: about your answer. By the way, if you're curious, fetish
- 6:37Speaker 1: Finder are the very kind people behind this survey of
- 6:42Speaker 1: the best and worst cities for dating in North America. So, Trey,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I will start with you, would you rather be single
- 6:52Speaker 1: in Dallas or Fort Worth?
- 6:56Speaker 2: Well, being single in Dallas for decades has gotten me
- 7:00Speaker 2: Jack squad. I'm gonna go fort Worth.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You know what. I There is no right or wrong
- 7:06Speaker 1: answer on versus. It's more of just a conversation starter.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But honestly, you you earned the bell. There's that's excellent
- 7:14Speaker 1: logic on your part. Jerry. What about you? If you
- 7:17Speaker 1: had to be single in Dallas or Fort Worth? Which
- 7:21Speaker 1: city are you going to be single in?
- 7:24Speaker 3: Absolutely? Dallas?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Really?
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yes?
- 7:27Speaker 1: And why is that?
- 7:29Speaker 3: There's more of my kind of people here? They're you know,
- 7:36Speaker 3: you know, if you've got fetishes, Dallas as a much
- 7:37Speaker 3: better place to go.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I'm glad you bring that up because fetish Finder did
- 7:44Speaker 1: the survey and found the top ten best cities to
- 7:48Speaker 1: be single and the top ten worst cities to be single.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Where do you think Dallas and fort Worth fell a
- 7:57Speaker 1: worse on either list?
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I don't think Dallas is so far down on the
- 8:04Speaker 3: list fort Worth. I bet you fort Worth is up
- 8:08Speaker 3: there as far as good or bad.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Oh on the on the bad list. Oh, actually that
- 8:15Speaker 1: is correct. As far as the worst cities in the
- 8:20Speaker 1: United States for dating, according to Fetish Finder, fort Worth
- 8:24Speaker 1: ranked sixth number one New York, number two, Los Angeles,
- 8:28Speaker 1: number three, Philadelphia, for Chicago five, San Antonio six, fort Worth.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Uh. You was surprised by all of those except fort Worth.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was interesting how the fort Worth. You never
- 8:44Speaker 1: see fort Worth on lists for anything when it comes
- 8:47Speaker 1: to cities ever, So I feel sorry for fort Worth
- 8:51Speaker 1: that they got kind of dumped on on this one.
- 8:53Speaker 1: The survey sites low likelihoods of marriage and high divorce rates. Honestly,
- 8:58Speaker 1: when the force rates, I would have assumed Dallas would
- 9:02Speaker 1: I was up there. But it turns out that Dallas
- 9:08Speaker 1: is the third best city for dating in the United States,
- 9:12Speaker 1: despite the poor track record of our very own trade.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Trenhme, what are one and two? What are they? What
- 9:17Speaker 2: do they say the best two what beat out Dallas?
- 9:21Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear this.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Number two was Denver and number one is Seattle. Is yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: by fetish finding Now, I don't think they they they
- 9:34Speaker 1: didn't rank this stuff by fetishes unless.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I'm I'm sure they're surveying their members, though.
- 9:42Speaker 1: They're probably are, look having just spent a lot of
- 9:45Speaker 1: time in Seattle. If you have a super roof fetish,
- 9:47Speaker 1: that really would be the top city to go to,
- 9:53Speaker 1: or if you're a lesbian.
- 9:56Speaker 3: You can you can be.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Both at the same time as as well as you
- 9:58Speaker 1: got a super roo.
- 10:04Speaker 4: If you're listening to the Treehouse, visit us online a

- 10:38Speaker 1: you deal with fairleas you never even have to go
- 10:41Speaker 1: to them. They bring everything to you, They bring the

- 11:07Speaker 1: works and do it in a way that you'll understand it.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I know that because they did it for me. So
- 11:12Speaker 1: you want a new car, it's time to start leasing

- 11:40Speaker 1: That first segment was brought to you by Fairleas. The
- 11:42Speaker 1: treehouse is driven by Fairleast five days a week may
- 11:45Speaker 1: possible by Fairleas. Go to fairlease dot org to save
- 11:48Speaker 1: time and money on your next new vehicle. That is
- 11:50Speaker 1: fairlease dot org. Jerry, You're you're pruising the Fetish Finder website, now.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I am, And what have you found? Well? It is
- 12:02Speaker 3: a website apparently where you can create, sell, view, and
- 12:07Speaker 3: purchase fetish videos and pictures. Oh and I was just
- 12:14Speaker 3: scrolling here through their categories and right up at the
- 12:17Speaker 3: top twelve toes, six toes, nine toes.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Are you interested or are you thinking you just found
- 12:28Speaker 1: a new income stream?
- 12:31Speaker 3: It's an unusual amount of toes. I'm sort of taken
- 12:34Speaker 3: aback by. It's like, are we looking for people that
- 12:38Speaker 3: only have twelve total toes or twelve toes on one foot?
- 12:47Speaker 3: It is?
- 12:47Speaker 1: Actually the website is called fetish Finders. Maybe that's one
- 12:50Speaker 1: of those. Instead of you going to the website to
- 12:52Speaker 1: find your fetish that you already have, what if, in fact,
- 12:56Speaker 1: it pairs you with the fetish after a short survey.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I just sent you all a text. That's not something
- 13:03Speaker 2: I can say on the on the broadcast, but.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I would agree with that. I I think I think
- 13:13Speaker 1: he does have an account. I think you just put
- 13:17Speaker 1: in the right keyword and yeah, he'll he'll pop right up.
- 13:21Speaker 3: And I just want to say, under this twelve toes category,
- 13:24Speaker 3: everybody here has the normal amount of toes.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of a let down. That's advertising. What
- 13:32Speaker 1: is sexual about having twelve toes? Clearly I may be
- 13:36Speaker 1: asking the wrong room here, but.
- 13:38Speaker 2: What's sexual about toes in general?
- 13:40Speaker 3: All right?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Solid point?
- 13:41Speaker 3: I mean never mind.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Like some people just see it as if it's
- 13:47Speaker 1: an appendent. No matter how big or small it's, it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: it should be licked.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I guess that needs to be on a T shirt.
- 13:56Speaker 3: We could sell those on fetish Finder.
- 14:00Speaker 1: These twelve toes won't lick themselves.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I've tried, and you can get pictures of that too.
- 14:11Speaker 1: All right, so we just so. Fetish Finder did the
- 14:13Speaker 1: survey the best and worst cities in the United States
- 14:16Speaker 1: to be single. In the criteria that they used, how
- 14:20Speaker 1: many single people live there, how likely is marriage, what
- 14:23Speaker 1: the divorce rate is, how many people are actively seeking
- 14:26Speaker 1: a relationship. And then there's the more mundane criteria, what's
- 14:30Speaker 1: the quality of life the cost of living. The study
- 14:32Speaker 1: also used data from the Census Bureau, Very Sexy, Google,
- 14:36Speaker 1: keyword Planner, and Numbio. The best city was, in fact Seattle.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Dallas ranked third. The worst cities for dating New York
- 14:46Speaker 1: was number one, and our very own. Fort Worth cracked
- 14:50Speaker 1: the top ten at number six worst city to be
- 14:54Speaker 1: single in according to Fetish Finder in San Antonio two.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I think san Antonio just sucks for a lot of
- 15:02Speaker 1: reasons for people. I mean, I've enjoyed my time there,
- 15:04Speaker 1: my wife and gauge there. I like San Antonio, but
- 15:07Speaker 1: some reason it's I don't know if it's the water
- 15:09Speaker 1: or what, but it always seems to get pooped on
- 15:11Speaker 1: in this date I will I am curious about this.
- 15:16Speaker 1: When you guys were like, because Trey, you're still single, Jerry,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you're in a relationship. It's been a long time since
- 15:23Speaker 1: since I've dated, and I know things have changed a
- 15:25Speaker 1: lot in that decade and a half. I know, as
- 15:28Speaker 1: Southerners there are certain dates that do not apply to
- 15:31Speaker 1: us that will occasionally see in movies and television, and
- 15:36Speaker 1: maybe you know somebody from up north where they'll have
- 15:39Speaker 1: different date ideas, one of which is apple picking. I
- 15:43Speaker 1: remember this. I think it was in an episode of
- 15:46Speaker 1: Friends and I've when we were in Seattle and also
- 15:50Speaker 1: in Michigan at times. I remember seeing signs for places
- 15:56Speaker 1: you can go and pick your own apples, which some
- 15:59Speaker 1: people think that sounds fun to me, that sounds kind
- 16:03Speaker 1: of awful, but like, just in general, let alone as
- 16:07Speaker 1: a date idea, and someone actually put together an impressive
- 16:13Speaker 1: list of why they say apple picking is the worst
- 16:16Speaker 1: fall activity. But if you guys ever done anything like
- 16:19Speaker 1: that on dates?
- 16:21Speaker 5: Is that?
- 16:21Speaker 1: What did you ever say, Hey, let's go to Michigan
- 16:24Speaker 1: and pick apples?
- 16:26Speaker 3: Mmm?
- 16:26Speaker 1: No, yeah, I didn't think so. But here you have
- 16:32Speaker 1: eleven reasons apple picking is not actually a fun activity.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Number one, you're doing work. There's a reason people get
- 16:36Speaker 1: paid to do it. Number two, there's ritting fruit all
- 16:38Speaker 1: over the ground. Yeah. Number three the bugs. Number four
- 16:40Speaker 1: you'll get lost. Orchards have massive apple mases. That's kind
- 16:44Speaker 1: of funny. You could actually maybe instead of a date
- 16:47Speaker 1: at an apple orchard, that's where you could break up
- 16:50Speaker 1: with someone and just leave them there.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Get them up on the ladder while you're holding it
- 16:54Speaker 3: down on the ground and be like, you know what
- 16:56Speaker 3: we're done, I'm out.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I'm really sick of you. Number five, the more apples
- 17:01Speaker 1: you pick, the harder it gets, so that makes sense.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Number six mud if it's rained in the past twenty
- 17:06Speaker 1: four hours, you don't want to do that. Number seven
- 17:08Speaker 1: the crowds. Number eight, the photos are really not that great.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Number nine. You'll end up with more apples, then you'll
- 17:13Speaker 1: know what to do. At number ten, every grocery store
- 17:15Speaker 1: has apples, so why are you making it a whole thing?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Number eleven, The store out front is the best part
- 17:20Speaker 1: as opposed to actually going in and picking them. I've
- 17:24Speaker 1: never wanted to do manual labor as any part of
- 17:28Speaker 1: a fun activity.
- 17:30Speaker 2: No, and I just it didn't work for Adam, It's
- 17:33Speaker 2: not gonna work for me.
- 17:36Speaker 1: That's an excellent point. I also think that, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 1: apple picking is an absolute northern thing because the Southern
- 17:44Speaker 1: version is not going to be is widely accepted because
- 17:48Speaker 1: we don't have apples here, we do have cotton, and
- 17:54Speaker 1: I don't think anyone wants a fun activity to be
- 17:57Speaker 1: told to them is like, hey, you want to go
- 17:59Speaker 1: from Carton.
- 18:01Speaker 3: That totally took a turn for me. That is nut
- 18:03Speaker 3: where I was expecting that one to go.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Well, you know, sometimes you grab the steering wheel and
- 18:07Speaker 1: you make things happen. And by describing that, what I
- 18:13Speaker 1: mean is the treehouse is currently not being driven by
- 18:16Speaker 1: fair least, but in fact being driven by toutsist.

- 20:24Speaker 1: but we talked quite a bit about the Titan sub
- 20:26Speaker 1: last year after it imploded, and then over the last
- 20:29Speaker 1: week plus the Coastguard has been holding hearings trying to
- 20:34Speaker 1: figure out, trying to get to the bottom of what
- 20:39Speaker 1: exactly happened to Ocean Gates Titan submersible as it made
- 20:42Speaker 1: its two mile journey to the bottom of the Atlantic
- 20:45Speaker 1: trying to look at the tight trying to look at
- 20:49Speaker 1: the Titanic wreckage, and instead became its own wrecking site.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We've learned over the last year that it was piloted
- 20:57Speaker 1: by a game controller. We also we learned last week
- 21:02Speaker 1: that one of the contractors that was removed from the
- 21:06Speaker 1: Ocean Gate team had basically had some whistleblower situation going
- 21:12Speaker 1: on because they had said, hey, this is not a
- 21:14Speaker 1: this is not a safe thing. You shouldn't be doing this.
- 21:16Speaker 1: There are certain things that you're doing that you should
- 21:18Speaker 1: not be doing. And then through some of these other
- 21:21Speaker 1: hearings were also finding out other interesting facts about the
- 21:25Speaker 1: Titan sub from Oceangate. For example, one ocean Gate whistleblower
- 21:29Speaker 1: said he had no confidence in the development of the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Titan sub. Well, okay, now, the implosion happened in twenty
- 21:38Speaker 1: twenty three. This is David Lockridge. He's the former director
- 21:41Speaker 1: of Marine operations for Oceangate. He said he was known
- 21:45Speaker 1: as a trouble maker in the tourism and expedition company
- 21:48Speaker 1: because he was so outspoken about his safety concerns. In
- 21:55Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, that's when he was hired to work in
- 21:59Speaker 1: the operations for Titan. Ultimately not involved in the development.
- 22:02Speaker 1: He said he was phased out after butting heads with
- 22:04Speaker 1: the ocean Gate CEO Stockton Rush, one of the five
- 22:08Speaker 1: people who died in the implosion. When asked by the
- 22:12Speaker 1: Marine Board of Investigation for the US Coast Guard if
- 22:15Speaker 1: he had confidence in the way that Titan was being
- 22:17Speaker 1: built in twenty seventeen, Lockard said no confidence whatsoever, and
- 22:21Speaker 1: I was very vocal about that, and I still am.
- 22:25Speaker 1: One of the things he had concerned about was the
- 22:27Speaker 1: submersibles carbon fiber hull, including imperfections. After he said, the
- 22:31Speaker 1: CEO asked him to inspect it. We also found out,
- 22:36Speaker 1: according to this guy, that the CEO of Oceangate liked
- 22:38Speaker 1: to do things on the cheap and had the desire
- 22:40Speaker 1: to get the tight and had the desire to get
- 22:42Speaker 1: to the Titanic as quickly as they could to start
- 22:45Speaker 1: making a profit. He said a lot of steps were
- 22:49Speaker 1: missing along the way, and at one point the CEO
- 22:54Speaker 1: through the game controller at this guy's head.
- 23:00Speaker 3: That's a gamer for you.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And then there was This is one of my favorite
- 23:08Speaker 1: headlines to come out of these hearings about the Ocean
- 23:11Speaker 1: Gate titan sub. Years before the implosion, the CEO told
- 23:15Speaker 1: passengers to brace themselves during a time. Sorry, he told
- 23:22Speaker 1: them to brace themselves for a loud noise. It's not
- 23:24Speaker 1: just brace themselves in general. But still, it's just amazing
- 23:28Speaker 1: all the red flags that are coming out about this
- 23:31Speaker 1: thing in this hearing that everything points to why in
- 23:37Speaker 1: the hell would you get in that sub? And not
- 23:39Speaker 1: only that, as soon as you spent two hundred and
- 23:43Speaker 1: fifty thousand dollars for this trip to the bottom of
- 23:46Speaker 1: the ocean, and you see just a few of these things,
- 23:50Speaker 1: how the hell do you think you're getting what you
- 23:52Speaker 1: paid for?
- 23:55Speaker 2: I just always go I just always go back to
- 23:57Speaker 2: this little factoid. The United States military a submarine probably
- 24:05Speaker 2: costs about a billion dollars. Okay, we have like four
- 24:09Speaker 2: types of subclasses. One of them is called the Sea
- 24:12Speaker 2: Wolf class. It it goes the deepest, and depending on
- 24:16Speaker 2: who you ask, but generally it'll only go to about
- 24:19Speaker 2: twenty five hundred feet oh okay before a billion dollar
- 24:25Speaker 2: sub and then after that you're you're nearing crush depth.
- 24:28Speaker 2: This thing was going to what twelve thousand feet?
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, something like that. Six times six times deeper,
- 24:37Speaker 1: yeah than that.
- 24:38Speaker 2: A nuclear US military nuclear submarine probably not safe.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Just that out there, and you said that's the Sea
- 24:46Speaker 1: Wolf class. Uh huh, Yeah. I don't feel comfortable if
- 24:50Speaker 1: you're trying to tell me that you're going to take
- 24:52Speaker 1: your Xbox class submersible deeper than a US Navy Sea
- 24:56Speaker 1: Wolf class nuclear submarine.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I'm not getting on that f and sub especially when
- 25:02Speaker 3: their navigation charts were an Excel spreadsheet.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And depending paper. Don't forget about that, Jared, Sorry, pen
- 25:08Speaker 1: and paper and the Excel spreadsheet. Guess I'm guessing because
- 25:12Speaker 1: they couldn't get word to update. It doesn't even sound
- 25:19Speaker 1: like they even bothered with a power point.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Too costly, right.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Actually, from some of what we're reading about these hearings,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I think you may be right. But yeah, according according
- 25:34Speaker 1: to these hearings, in a dive that took place years
- 25:36Speaker 1: before the titan subs doomed voyage of the Titanic, the
- 25:39Speaker 1: CEO warned that there would be loud noises, according to
- 25:42Speaker 1: one of the passengers, and to brace themselves for them,
- 25:46Speaker 1: she said. He told us to be prepared for noises.
- 25:49Speaker 1: He had recently done a solo dive in his own
- 25:51Speaker 1: and basically just said, this is gonna make noise, so
- 25:54Speaker 1: brace yourselves. I don't really want my sub making a
- 25:57Speaker 1: lot of noises.
- 25:58Speaker 3: No, that's a nope. And that's not just because I
- 26:02Speaker 3: saw a hunt for Red October a bunch. You gotta
- 26:07Speaker 3: wonder what their brochures looked like. I think it was.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I think it had clippy the clip art in the
- 26:14Speaker 1: lower reded corner.
- 26:17Speaker 2: It was probably like City of Dallas where they just
- 26:19Speaker 2: had the wrong thing. They probably had a picture of
- 26:21Speaker 2: a boat on it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and it is pretty bad, like if you're right
- 26:26Speaker 1: right when you're about to get in the sub as
- 26:29Speaker 1: part of the safety demonstration, the CEO the only thing
- 26:32Speaker 1: they have is part of the safety demonstration is just
- 26:35Speaker 1: looking at everyone and signing the waiver that simply says
- 26:38Speaker 1: just brace yourselves. If they got go ahead tray, well, just.
- 26:49Speaker 2: And the fact that they had I think one or
- 26:50Speaker 2: two people who had originally and these aren't these aren't
- 26:56Speaker 2: normal people. These are billionaires with a lot of money
- 26:58Speaker 2: who are adventure seekers and you already had a couple
- 27:01Speaker 2: of them who were big time adventure seekers. Are like,
- 27:03Speaker 2: uh uh yo, get our money back please, this is
- 27:07Speaker 2: not safe.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because if if, if, if billionaires and uber the
- 27:13Speaker 1: uber wealthy are your clientele. They expect the Louis Vaton,
- 27:18Speaker 1: They expect the Gucci submarine, not the not the the
- 27:23Speaker 1: the gooty submarine, not not the Lewis Vutton sub They
- 27:30Speaker 1: want the real deal. They want luxury and class. They
- 27:36Speaker 1: don't want to be told that the only way you
- 27:37Speaker 1: get out of this thing is by knocking on the
- 27:39Speaker 1: whole and if we can find you and unlock it
- 27:42Speaker 1: from the outside, and yes.
- 27:46Speaker 3: They is that duct tape.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Honestly, I would have felt better getting into the sub
- 27:54Speaker 1: sealed with duct tape than it was being piloted by
- 27:56Speaker 1: an Xbox controller.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, mm hmmm. Have you seen the pictures of
- 28:01Speaker 3: it on the ocean floor.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I have, and it is pretty sad to think that
- 28:07Speaker 1: the sub itself is in a better state than the
- 28:09Speaker 1: people that were inside of it.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, one of them was the child of one
- 28:15Speaker 3: of the billionaires. Yep. Yeah. They wouldn't even want to go.
- 28:19Speaker 3: He was like, I don't want to do this is dumb.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I know you guys go. He's like, no, you're coming
- 28:23Speaker 3: with me.
- 28:23Speaker 1: You know what He learned a valuable lesson that day
- 28:25Speaker 1: that sometimes it hurts to be right.

- 29:28Speaker 1: of the ocean. The super yacht that sank a while back,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I believe it was the the tech and billionaires. It
- 29:35Speaker 1: was the the forty million dollars super yacht that sank
- 29:39Speaker 1: off sicily last month, killing seven people, including British tech
- 29:41Speaker 1: tycoon Mike Lynch. The recovery efforts have gotten really, really
- 29:48Speaker 1: interesting because they've asked for heightened security to guard the
- 29:52Speaker 1: vessel over concerns that sensitive data locked in its safes
- 29:56Speaker 1: may interest foreign nationals. They think that this yacht, the Beijian,
- 30:03Speaker 1: if I'm saying that right, may contain highly sensitive data
- 30:07Speaker 1: tied to a number of Western intelligence services. That's according
- 30:10Speaker 1: to four sources. Similar with the investigation and salvage operation.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Lynch was associated with British, American and other intelligence services.
- 30:17Speaker 1: There was various companies, including the cyber security company he founded,
- 30:22Speaker 1: dark Trace. So now they think that foreign governments like
- 30:27Speaker 1: Russia and China may also be trying to get to
- 30:32Speaker 1: the safes held within this super yacht wreckage to get
- 30:37Speaker 1: dirt on Western countries and correct me if I'm wrong.
- 30:41Speaker 1: But isn't this early similar to the plot of Powerball
- 30:44Speaker 1: with James Bond. That's where they Yeah, that's where they
- 30:48Speaker 1: had the epic spear gun battle underwater.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Sounds like a dirt pit novel to me.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Wait, is that an actual book or is that just
- 31:00Speaker 1: one you're working on or is that just your diary?
- 31:05Speaker 3: Good? But no, that's the Clive Cussler hero in his books.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Oh gotcha? Okay. The sunken vessel, lying on the sea
- 31:14Speaker 1: bed at the depth of some fifty meters, which, according
- 31:17Speaker 1: to US translation one hundred and sixty four feet, is
- 31:20Speaker 1: thought to have watertight safes containing two super encrypted hard
- 31:23Speaker 1: drives that hold highly classified information, including pass codes and
- 31:27Speaker 1: other sensitive data. That's according to an official asked not
- 31:31Speaker 1: to be named. Specialist divers with remote cameras have searched
- 31:35Speaker 1: the boat extensively. Initially, law enforcement feared that would be
- 31:39Speaker 1: thieves might try to reach the records to find expensive
- 31:41Speaker 1: jewelry and other objects of value still on board the yacht.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Thieves pardon me, salvage crews.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, one's official ones less than official. What is it, Trey?
- 31:55Speaker 2: What are we doing?
- 31:58Speaker 1: Well?
- 31:58Speaker 2: What do you mean? I mean, with all the problems
- 32:03Speaker 2: in the world somehow M I five, am I whatever?
- 32:10Speaker 2: And the CIA. You know, I have secrets on you know,
- 32:14Speaker 2: some playboy billionaire's yacht.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Dude, I'm with you. When I when I saw that,
- 32:20Speaker 1: I was like, why are we trusting playboy billionaire types
- 32:23Speaker 1: with all this sensitive information? Or is this something that
- 32:26Speaker 1: again this sounds like something out of a movie. Was
- 32:28Speaker 1: was he holding onto this information out of fear because
- 32:31Speaker 1: if he had it then he knew he would be safe.
- 32:33Speaker 1: That being said, he's at the bottom of the ocean.
- 32:35Speaker 3: He's dead now, Yeah, it was one of them, a
- 32:39Speaker 3: masked vigilante by night. I just I try him kind
- 32:44Speaker 3: of with.
- 32:44Speaker 1: There's lots of problems in the world, but you know what,
- 32:46Speaker 1: we as humans are still enamored by some good old
- 32:48Speaker 1: fashioned sunken treasure, even if it's in the form of
- 32:51Speaker 1: you know, highly sensitive data like like like like the
- 32:55Speaker 1: password for the White House in Turtle Surfers, when we
- 33:00Speaker 1: all know, given the administrations, given the recent administrations in
- 33:03Speaker 1: the White House, you know that password is one, two, three,
- 33:06Speaker 1: four or five, and.
- 33:09Speaker 2: The giant vacuum is gonna come down and the atmosphere,
- 33:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 33:15Speaker 1: What, I welcome, I welcome the giant robot vacuum to
- 33:20Speaker 1: suck us all up, because I feel like that's what
- 33:23Speaker 1: we deserve. She's gone from blow up. I'm just gonna
- 33:37Speaker 1: welcome it with open arms and enjoy the show. All right,
- 33:43Speaker 1: thanks for hanging out with us inside the treehouse today.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Just wait for that great big robot in the sky
- 33:52Speaker 1: to come suck us. That's pretty good. That's impressive. And
- 33:56Speaker 1: you can take spaceballs and thunderball in one segment and combine.
- 34:01Speaker 3: That's right.
- 34:03Speaker 1: All right, We will see you guys tomorrow.
- 34:09Speaker 3: M
