- 0:39Well, howdy ho, Everybody in the Brewery Underground podcast is
- 0:44saying howdy ho to you out there in podcast land.
- 0:46And I'm Steve, and he's Scott. Still, you're still Steve, and
- 0:51I'm still Scott. That's right.
- 0:53Sometimes people still don't know who the heck we are.
- 0:56Are you Steve? Are you Scott?
- 0:58Believe it or not, we get that. We get that every once in a
- 1:01while. Yes, it's gotten better.
- 1:03That's right. That's right.
- 1:04Well, we're definitely excited today because we have a, a
- 1:09fantastic episode, all of our fantastic.
- 1:12This one is going to be just as well because we have Amy Parks
- 1:15on. She is Vice President of
- 1:17business development for Craft Taps.
- 1:21Hello, hello, hello. Hello, welcome, welcome.
- 1:24Thanks for joining us. Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:27Yeah. Yeah, excited to talk to the two
- 1:30of you. Amy, what's going on in
- 1:33Nashville here? Yes.
- 1:35And, and around the country because you're, you're tapped
- 1:37in, if I may say, yes, we are. So you came across our radar.
- 1:41Steve actually sent me this. I think you the shared the the
- 1:45social media link or something when you guys announced coming
- 1:48to Tennessee when you were in Tennessee.
- 1:52And yes, go ahead, sorry. I was going to say the reason
- 1:56he's I go, it's 499. You look at the perks and you're
- 1:59like, it's the one thing pays for itself.
- 2:02So we could dive more into that. But the reason you're on it and
- 2:05you came across our radar was because of that 499 for two
- 2:08years and the first buy one, get one free.
- 2:10We got paid for. Pay for 100%, wait for.
- 2:14It you can't pass it up. You can't pass it up.
- 2:17And Amy, we know obviously we're in Nashville and you are.
- 2:20Where is your destination today? Minneapolis, MN.
- 2:25All. Right, Yep, Yep.
- 2:26That's where that's where we're headquartered.
- 2:29We're we're basically we are a company of five.
- 2:32So you know, big old company, but yeah, we're in Minnesota.
- 2:35This is where we launched at. So I'm coming to you from lovely
- 2:39fall day in Minnesota. Well, and I know, you know, what
- 2:42we try to do is each podcast we're usually drinking
- 2:47something. Oh, yeah.
- 2:48And we know that you are. So ladies first tonight, Amy,
- 2:51what is it that you're drinking? Well, tonight I decided I'm
- 2:54going. You know, it's kind of fall and
- 2:56I'm, we're sort of falling into the different beers, but I
- 2:58actually chose a cider from a partner place.
- 3:01I've got a nice wild state cider here.
- 3:03It's Peach Basil. They're from Duluth, MN.
- 3:07They're phenomenal ciders. You know, I do.
- 3:09I am, I have to say I'm a pretty big wine drinker.
- 3:12I love my wine and so there's a lot of really nice dry ciders
- 3:15out there as well that really mimic, you know, sort of the
- 3:17wine flavor but kind of doesn't give you the headache as much as
- 3:21wine does sometimes. But got to support my partners.
- 3:24So y'all doing the wine or doing the cider tonight?
- 3:27So. Not up.
- 3:28We're cider fans as well. Yeah, and I was, hey, being the
- 3:31fact that fall season is here and it's probably maybe, maybe a
- 3:34little more up there than is for Nashville right now, it's
- 3:37probably starting to feel fallish, huh?
- 3:40It's going to be 38° tonight. Overnight yellow.
- 3:46Yeah, I think it's like 62° right now.
- 3:49So perfect, you know, outdoor fire weather hoodie.
- 3:52That's what I was thinking, yeah.
- 3:53They're all changing. It's beautiful.
- 3:56So we're embracing it until, you know, the crazy winter comes.
- 3:59So. Yeah.
- 4:02That's when I'm going to come visit you guys.
- 4:03Winter. Time.
- 4:05I'm like, oh, I need a business trip to Nashville right now.
- 4:10We'll show you all over the place.
- 4:13We'll. Show you.
- 4:15So great one. 100% Steve, what do you have?
- 4:18Well, I, I have from our friends from Stoke House, the Reserve
- 4:24right here, Little West Coast IPA and Stoke House.
- 4:29Amy, for your information, they are a new brewery here in
- 4:32Nashville. We love the fact that a new
- 4:34breweries open up in Nashville and they opened up about a
- 4:37month, month and a half ago and we know the owners there and
- 4:41they are. They are already killing it.
- 4:44Just put them on the list. Put them on your list.
- 4:47Yes, for. Sure, you like the craft beer
- 4:49and they also do some fantastic BBQ as well.
- 4:53Perfect. That would be.
- 4:54That would be one of your, one of your destinations.
- 4:58Oh yeah, for sure. That'd be great.
- 5:00You know, I always love it when the venue has the food, right,
- 5:03Because it just obviously not everyone can, you know, has a
- 5:05kitchen and have the food. But right, it keeps people there
- 5:08a lot longer. If you got you got food to
- 5:10offers. And it's it's wonderful.
- 5:12We've heard already in the last week or two people just talking
- 5:14about it's the best barbecue in Nashville and they've been open
- 5:17a month. It is amazing.
- 5:19Does she wait? Truck, they got the food truck
- 5:22fired up in the parking lot and man, they just, they're out
- 5:25there killing it every day. Yeah, and it's, it's a food
- 5:28shop, but it's their own. So they, you know, they instead
- 5:30of doing the kitchen, it's their own.
- 5:31So it stays on premises. They they cook everything.
- 5:33Oh, it's so good. That's so nice.
- 5:35OK, All right, mark it down. Let's go.
- 5:37Yes. Now what I've got is I've got
- 5:40Nashville Brewing Company Fest beer.
- 5:43Nice. Yeah, I had several of these
- 5:45left. And as a backup, because I'll
- 5:47need it. Steve, Same.
- 5:48I've got the Stokehouse original.
- 5:51They're Tennessee Logger. So just to show you Amy, this is
- 5:54how good they are. We we keep it on, we keep it on
- 5:56hand at all times. Oh, man, a good logger or
- 5:59pilsner, bring it on on, you know, absolutely right.
- 6:03Go to beer always. So I'm loving because right now
- 6:05I'm, you know, as we're hunkering down here in the fall,
- 6:08you know, the darker beers. Come on.
- 6:10I'm a Porter fan massively. I love stouts and of course all
- 6:14the Oktoberfest beers are out right now.
- 6:15But bring me a great like chocolate peanut butter Porter.
- 6:19I'm just happy girl, right? We all like nesting here.
- 6:22It's getting cooler. We want our red wines, we want
- 6:25our darker beers, you know? So yeah, yeah, that looks great.
- 6:28But yeah, always the go to is the logger or the pilsner.
- 6:31So I'm going just as a sidebar, I'm going to Denver going
- 6:34tomorrow morning. I'm going to Great American beer
- 6:36fan. Yeah.
- 6:39And the reason I mentioned it is because the weather is probably
- 6:41similar to what you've got. I'm seeing the highs are kind
- 6:44of, you know, low 70s and the and the lows are going to be,
- 6:46you know, high 30s or something. So it's going to be parallel to
- 6:49what you're experiencing. It's going to be great beer
- 6:53drinking weather. I looked up what's in Denver.
- 6:56So you had told me the only reason I'm pausing because I
- 6:59want to, I don't want to go ahead.
- 7:00But you had told me that you can use Craft tapped across multiple
- 7:03states. Correct.
- 7:05And one of the reasons I pause is because I messed up a few
- 7:07weeks ago when I went to Knoxville because I had it, but
- 7:11I was just thinking Nashville. Meanwhile, I was in Knoxville
- 7:14and hit several places and I could have taken advantage of it
- 7:17there. So, you know, before I go any
- 7:18further, talk to that. Some talk about that.
- 7:20It's it's multiple states. And then when you're within
- 7:22those states, it's all across the state and the different
- 7:25cities and whatnot. That's what's so unique and
- 7:27special about, you know, our platform and our company is, you
- 7:31know, it's not just so, you know, Minnesota, I buy my, you
- 7:35know, so my membership here in Minnesota, great.
- 7:37I can use it all here in Minnesota, but we can you can
- 7:39use it in any of the 17 states that we're in.
- 7:42We really want to promote, you know, this is a community, not
- 7:45just like, oh, go get your free beer.
- 7:47It's a, you know, brewery brewery.
- 7:48It's more of a community and getting to know not only the
- 7:51venues, but the people, right? So we really, really, really
- 7:55stress atmosphere and the experience that you have.
- 7:58So anytime you're traveling, you need to open up your app because
- 8:01it will geolocate you. There's an app, there's a, I'm
- 8:04sorry, there's a map on the app that will ping you exactly where
- 8:07you're at and it will tell you the closest partner you are
- 8:10within X amount of miles. So super fun.
- 8:13We get members from all of the United States.
- 8:16They'll post, they'll, you know, put a review and they'll say, Oh
- 8:20my gosh, you know, they're Florida folks and they're going
- 8:23to see their kids or something in, in Colorado.
- 8:25They're like, we stopped in Missouri, we stopped in Kansas,
- 8:27we stopped in Colorado. It's so fun for the brewery if
- 8:31they, you know, tag them and then tag us obviously as well.
- 8:35So Yep, always open it up, check it out, see if there's a place
- 8:39nearby you. Amy, have you been with Crap Tap
- 8:43from the beginning? I have, I've been with the gosh,
- 8:46we started it over 10 years ago, I want to say.
- 8:49So the concept came to us. We had a big brewery boom here
- 8:52in Minnesota, kind of like I, I feel like a lot of places,
- 8:55Colorado, Florida, etcetera. We had a massive brewery boom.
- 8:59And then the guy who came up with the concept in our company,
- 9:02obviously he had lived in San Diego for a long time and he
- 9:05moved here and he was like, he noticed as well as us all the
- 9:09different breweries that were opening.
- 9:10But we need to come up with something.
- 9:12This this is, this is crazy. There's so many breweries coming
- 9:14up. I mean, it was massive.
- 9:16And so we came up with the idea and the concept, funny enough.
- 9:19So we did not have an app obviously right out of the gate,
- 9:22because, you know, you got to have money for that, right?
- 9:23And apps, I don't know, 10 years ago how, I mean, apps were on
- 9:27the apps were out there on the table, but you know, they were
- 9:30really expensive back then. It was like, right.
- 9:32So what we are doing is sort of a Groupon style like and we were
- 9:36only in Minnesota and it was all right.
- 9:39The members had to print out their they had to print out
- 9:42their Groupon, sorry, print out their voucher for Kraft hat,
- 9:47hand it in when they would go to the partner place.
- 9:50And then I would zip around and pick up once a month these
- 9:53vouchers from all these places. I mean archaic or what?
- 9:57But hey, you know, right, there's also I get one-on-one, I
- 10:00get to meet everybody and you know, really, you know, create
- 10:02that that great relationship and special bond.
- 10:05I mean, wow, right. So then we obviously evolved and
- 10:08were able to, you know, get an which has been the blessing.
- 10:13Obviously so much better with technology.
- 10:15But yeah, I've been with the company for over 10 years.
- 10:18We started in Minnesota and then we've branched out.
- 10:20Now we are in 17 different states.
- 10:22So that's. Good.
- 10:24Almost sounds like it was kind of a perfect storm for you guys.
- 10:27Where not only are breweries starting to become a big deal,
- 10:30back when you were doing this, apps were too.
- 10:33So it was like a marriage of them both. 100% because, you
- 10:37know, so I've been in marketing for a long time.
- 10:39You know, when apps first came out, it was, oh, we're going to
- 10:42develop and it was a ton of money.
- 10:44And then as everyone started to really get to know apps and, and
- 10:47the design aspect and you got to actually kind of repurpose
- 10:51blueprints for apps. So it was a lot less expensive,
- 10:54you know, for companies to like, oh, I can get an app now
- 10:57because, you know, everyone's got to jump on the bandwagon,
- 10:59but we don't have 50 grand to toss down for, you know, a new,
- 11:02totally new platforms. Luckily, you know, we were able
- 11:05to get that and we really, we recognize well, we're going to
- 11:08expand. You can't.
- 11:09I'm not flying. I'm not scooting down to Iowa or
- 11:12over to Wisconsin, you know, once a month to to go pick up
- 11:15those vouchers, right kind of deal.
- 11:17So yeah, the app has been a blessing.
- 11:19It's really fun, it's super intuitive, and obviously you
- 11:22guys play around with it, you have it.
- 11:23But yeah, the app has been a massive obviously for our
- 11:27outreach and you know, us growing our business, the app
- 11:29has been amazing. We we mentioned or I mentioned
- 11:32Nashville in in Tennessee and I think you've got four in
- 11:35Nashville. I didn't count any were not so
- 11:37like the ones that I missed a bunch of but and and and not.
- 11:41You don't have to give details or names or anything, but I
- 11:43assume you're always looking to grow, right?
- 11:45Probably looking to grow more in Nashville in the whole state
- 11:47because is, is Tennessee the newest, the state that you're
- 11:50in? Yes, Tennessee, you know, so
- 11:52interesting enough we for some reason, we got a couple of just
- 11:57orphan partners, you know, here and there a long time ago.
- 12:01I want to say new heights has been around for a long time and
- 12:03Lily Pat like they've been around for a long time.
- 12:05So just kind of 1 offs and it's I'm the only one, I'm the one
- 12:09just doing all the new business development.
- 12:11So I've got 17 states that I cover and I don't know, I don't,
- 12:14we don't know why. I think we tried to bust into
- 12:17the Tennessee District and it's just been, it's been difficult
- 12:21and I'm not sure why, but maybe we just haven't put enough time
- 12:23or effort and we haven't had you guys, right?
- 12:25So things ebb and flow, right? And you, you go to where like
- 12:30this territory is hot, right? So for example, Florida, you
- 12:34know, COVID 2020 Minnesota, we shut down, there's no patios in
- 12:40the middle of winter for us to go into.
- 12:41And we're thinking like, all right, how are we going to
- 12:43sustain our business, right? So what we, what we end up doing
- 12:46is really just pushing and helping everybody with to go
- 12:48sales on the app social. And then we noticed, hey,
- 12:53Florida is still pretty open because Gee, they have patios to
- 12:57go out onto, right? And the beer scene, which little
- 13:00did I know, had exploded. So we used to vacation in
- 13:05Florida when I was younger all the time and when my kids were
- 13:07younger, but obviously I wasn't going out to breweries.
- 13:10They have a massive scene for breweries down there.
- 13:13So that was our next week. All right, here we go.
- 13:16We're going to go explore Florida.
- 13:17And it, it went off like gangbusters.
- 13:19So I'm like, all right, we're going more South now.
- 13:22We need to, we need to get into Tennessee here, right?
- 13:26And I guess like that makes me a little nervous because I feel
- 13:29like, gosh, nobody, they don't, nobody in Nashville wants to
- 13:32come on because it's busy, busy, busy, right?
- 13:34But the way we look at it is like more eggs in the basket,
- 13:36right? Let's get your brand out there.
- 13:39And with saturation and the way the market is right now, any
- 13:42help? I think people can get where we
- 13:44are willing to do that. So we are going to get people
- 13:46through the doors, butts on the seats.
- 13:49And we can help that with social media marketing and whatnot and
- 13:52getting getting people's brands out there.
- 13:53So Nashville is next on my radar.
- 13:56I mean, I'm working on it definitely.
- 13:59Well, I know when, when I saw you all on social media, I think
- 14:02it was I, I, it was probably either on Facebook or Instagram
- 14:04because I'm on both of those. And I remember looking at it and
- 14:07I'm like, what is this? And I said, and, you know, I was
- 14:10like, maybe we could get them on.
- 14:12And, you know, I know he reached out and yeah, in fact, I, I just
- 14:17saw a post the other day that you all have welcoming broadcast
- 14:21brewing. Yes.
- 14:24So excited. Yes, very.
- 14:26I'm really excited about those guys.
- 14:27So bring it on. Let's like get, let's get people
- 14:31there. They're fairly new, aren't they?
- 14:33Are they? Yeah, OK, good.
- 14:36So we, that's our whole goal is we want to support our partners
- 14:40as much as we can. We want to get awareness out
- 14:42there, people again, people through the door and butts on
- 14:44the seats. And if we can do that through
- 14:46e-mail, through content, we do, we do content ads for our
- 14:50partners. So that's part of our brand
- 14:51promise. When a new partner comes on, we
- 14:54will post content pieces for them on Instagram, on Facebook.
- 14:59We don't charge anything to be a partner.
- 15:01Sorry, that's my dog's. That's all right.
- 15:06Sorry. You know, we don't Oh my God,
- 15:08you're right. There we go here.
- 15:10Yeah. We don't charge anything to the
- 15:11to the brewery or again, and we don't just we don't discriminate
- 15:15in breweries. We do, we do the craft beverage
- 15:17now. So we've expanded our umbrella
- 15:19too. We've cideries, distilleries,
- 15:22breweries, wineries. We have a hard kombucha place in
- 15:24Michigan, which is super fun. So spreading the love here.
- 15:28But anyways, there's no contract for people to be our partner
- 15:31and, and no fee. So we're not an untapped or
- 15:34anything. We don't update people's, you
- 15:36know, beer list. We do on the app.
- 15:38If you notice, we do create links that, you know, as a
- 15:40member you're scrolling through and maybe you're interested in
- 15:43like, oh, what's this place? We'll create links in that that
- 15:45they can click on and it sends them to that partner's website
- 15:48or social pages. So we just want to send all
- 15:51traffic back to them. That way we don't have that
- 15:54overhead cost and administration cost of like, well, we have to
- 15:57charge you because we're doing all this stuff right?
- 15:59Like they want to know what the beer list is.
- 16:00They can just scoot over to their website, but you know,
- 16:04part of our other, you know, our brand promise again, is we do
- 16:07the marketing for them as much as we can.
- 16:09You know, obviously it's we're not going to announce tappings
- 16:12for every single beer, but if someone's got an A big event
- 16:15going on, we will happily put that out there.
- 16:17We'll put it on social if it we'll send emails because we
- 16:21want them to succeed, right? The venue succeeds, we succeed,
- 16:24right? It's sort of a reciprocal thing,
- 16:26right? They do good.
- 16:28The the members are happy. We're happy.
- 16:30It's a kumbaya of like, let's all work together and we want
- 16:34them to succeed so and we want our our members to be happy.
- 16:37Have you found, and I know you're, you're working on
- 16:39Nashville still, but have you found in other cities where like
- 16:41it starts to catch fire? Like you get a couple partners
- 16:45signed up and they're like, oh, what are, what are these guys
- 16:47doing? What is this thing?
- 16:48And it catches fire? And the guy across the streets,
- 16:50like I would need to be a part of that.
- 16:51Have you seen that in a lot of cities?
- 16:53Yeah, well, Florida was Florida was like that.
- 16:56It was insane. It was completely crazy.
- 16:58So that happened. And of course, like Wisconsin
- 17:01was great and easy. That was Wisconsin's been great.
- 17:04Like it's interesting because we've got, you know, we've got
- 17:07Hudson, which is right on the border of Minnesota and
- 17:10Wisconsin. And then you got Madison and
- 17:12then you have Milwaukee and Milwaukee's just like we have
- 17:15ton of great partners there and that has exploded, which is
- 17:19great. We do happy hours there and
- 17:20stuff. So we really try to keep, keep
- 17:22the messaging going and keep, like I said, keep the fire
- 17:24going. So another new territory that
- 17:26we're exploring is Virginia. So Richmond, VA is ripe with
- 17:31breweries. So that's another area that
- 17:33we're really trying to explore. And you know, you got to really
- 17:36look sick. All right, tourist season, when,
- 17:38when is it up and when it's down, right?
- 17:39So tourist season, nobody's going to come on and join a new
- 17:43program because they're really busy, right?
- 17:45So we have to figure out, all right, but to look and see, all
- 17:48right, when, when do they dip? You know, Florida, when they
- 17:51dip, middle summer, nobody's there.
- 17:53It's too hot, right? It's too hot.
- 17:55Yeah. But that's kind of another cool
- 17:58thing about, you know, like the whole idea of when you can use
- 18:02that, you can use your membership in any of the states.
- 18:05Florida gets a ton of snowbirds from up in Minnesota, Wisconsin
- 18:10and so six months, you know, in the Midwest and then they scoot
- 18:13down there for the winter and they use their craft act right.
- 18:16And there's some they always post about it and we we roll
- 18:19happy hours down there like Tampa, Saint Pete, Orlando area
- 18:22and they're so excited like we're from Minnesota, you know,
- 18:25so yeah, it's another great benefit of, you know, being a
- 18:29craft shop partners, remember is you can use it anywhere.
- 18:32I love that you're. Involved like in each breweries
- 18:36like you just posted something about broadcast.
- 18:38Like you said, you're still you're involved in the
- 18:40individual thing too at the same time, which is can't be easy to
- 18:44do. You're trying to I'm looking at
- 18:45your map that's I keep looking over at the screen because I'm
- 18:47looking at this map and I'm like, I moved down to Florida
- 18:50like the country's littered with it.
- 18:51It's littered. It's.
- 18:52Really exciting. It's it's really exciting.
- 18:55I mean, I wish I could call myself because I want to be in
- 18:57so many places. I'm, I'm actually heading to
- 19:00Arizona next week, going to Phoenix.
- 19:02I'm actually going with my daughter.
- 19:04It's a MAMEA thingy and my son goes to college down there.
- 19:07However, when I'm there, I'm going to host a happy hour at
- 19:10one of our places. So I'm like boom, boom, right?
- 19:12It's the best of both worlds for me.
- 19:13I get to see my kid and I get to host a happy hour at one of our
- 19:17partner places. Super fun.
- 19:19We did one when I was there moving him in the end of August.
- 19:22People are so excited about it. I wish I could.
- 19:26I wanna expand into Southern California and California is
- 19:30monster. So we're like, yeah, that's like
- 19:34a full time job for somebody. So California is massive, but I
- 19:37wanna get Portland trying to really Oregon.
- 19:39We're trying to explore more in Oregon because we have a good
- 19:43solid base out there, but we want to get more obviously,
- 19:46because it's like ripe Portland and, you know, Washington,
- 19:50Oregon. Great.
- 19:51Obviously beer out there, right. So, so that's kind of a
- 19:54territory for us too. Yeah, Yeah.
- 19:56That was going to be one of my. Questions about how many crap
- 19:59tap events you do? You know, in various cities has
- 20:03it, has it been quite a bit? So what?
- 20:05We try to do is we have been hosting happy hours monthly at
- 20:09the states that we have the most partners at and the most members
- 20:13at. And so currently we have about,
- 20:15I want to say, I want to say there's like 6 or seven of the
- 20:19states that that I manage with a team of brand ambassadors that
- 20:23live in the state. They're members craft House
- 20:26members of ours. They love craft house so much
- 20:28that they work the events for us.
- 20:30It's great. So I don't have to fly down,
- 20:32yada yada. They're massive, amazing brand
- 20:35ambassadors. And then we just, you know, pick
- 20:37a brewery or the breweries reach out to us and say we want to
- 20:40host, you know, a happy hour. And so we'll set up a like
- 20:43midweek usually because, you know, usually it's usually it's
- 20:46quiet midweek, right? So we'll do like from 5:00 to
- 20:498:00, we invite our members to come out, we'll hold raffles,
- 20:53we'll purchase gift cards to the brewery.
- 20:55And then, you know, we, yeah, we buy it, we buy the gift cards.
- 20:59And then it's just a great time to like, if people haven't been
- 21:02to that place, it pushes them through the door.
- 21:04They're like, Oh my gosh, this is so fun.
- 21:06Or if they've been there, they're back.
- 21:08They're loving it. And then we really want to try
- 21:10to create the sense of community.
- 21:12So I know I've mentioned this before, but the happy hours are
- 21:14more about like, it's just community.
- 21:16Like in Milwaukee, we everyone wants to buy AT shirt of us.
- 21:19So everyone's showing up now with their craft tap T-shirts.
- 21:22It's so fun. In Orlando, we've got a group
- 21:25that they've got a trivia group. It's the craft tappers, it's
- 21:28their trivia group and they go around to the breweries.
- 21:30So to us, it's more important than what I think differentiates
- 21:33us from other like beer passport programs and whatnot, is we
- 21:37really try to push the sense of community that's like, yeah,
- 21:39it's huge. It's.
- 21:40Absolutely. Yeah, Go ahead, Steve.
- 21:42Yeah, well, I said I'm. Going to say not to interrupt,
- 21:43but Scott can touch on this too, because we've been doing this
- 21:46podcast for about two years and it's one of the big things that
- 21:50we have noticed across the board with breweries is that they're
- 21:54trying to bring everybody in. You know, you talk about
- 21:57community and Scott continue on with that because I, I, I think
- 22:01that's a really important thing that we, we really have tried to
- 22:04highlight and focus on this podcast here.
- 22:06Absolutely. And Amy?
- 22:07You mentioned it too butts and seats, right?
- 22:09You're getting people out into the place, you know?
- 22:13And Steve? And I ultimately are consumers.
- 22:15We have the podcast because we're consumers like we, we
- 22:18started as that. So we like to see that.
- 22:20And we again, when Steve sent me that thing, it was 499 consumer
- 22:23first. Absolutely.
- 22:24That's a great deal. Yes, let's do it.
- 22:27We're going to go here. Anyway, let's get a little deal
- 22:29out of it. So yeah.
- 22:33No, I kept thinking with Broadcast Brewing, you know, we
- 22:37know Mike, the owner, we had him.
- 22:39We were at a crab beer festival a couple of weeks ago and he
- 22:42came on. We did a collab with some other
- 22:45guys with the Cromie Heads and he was there.
- 22:47So we had him on and it's like, you know, maybe we need to get
- 22:51Mike and maybe Mike like a little happy hour, you know, and
- 22:55that'd be. A fun Yeah, he's a.
- 22:57Really good guy and MM. Preaches community in his
- 22:59brewery as well. And he wants that.
- 23:02He wants people to come and talk to each other.
- 23:04And if if you're a reason that happens, that's a great thing.
- 23:07I'm telling you like. Today, like we as a society, we
- 23:12need to mingle more, right? It's just the way stuff's going
- 23:16down lately. We just like, we have got to all
- 23:19come together and what better than beer, beer and like, and
- 23:24that's why our our people who come to all of our happy hours
- 23:27like it's a lot of the same people.
- 23:29And luckily they're pulling in new people and folks are like,
- 23:32oh, what's going on over there? So we get new members by having
- 23:35them there as well. And it's just, it's continual.
- 23:37People look forward to this. OK, where's the next one?
- 23:40Where's the next one? It's a sense of community that
- 23:42we all really need to come back to. 100% believe that yeah,
- 23:46yeah. As to.
- 23:47Steven, I've met so many people just at a brewery with the
- 23:50podcast or not, it's just sitting around and talking to
- 23:52someone, or you talk to the person next to you and you never
- 23:55know who that person playing some cards.
- 23:57You know, you have your dog with you with, like, any people I
- 24:00think are just craving human interaction and, you know,
- 24:04friendship and relationships and community.
- 24:06Yeah. Totally.
- 24:08Let's drink to that. That's.
- 24:09All drink. You know what I'm just about?
- 24:12Drink. Almost drop mine there.
- 24:16It happens. So.
- 24:18It happens. If there's no.
- 24:19Investment for the for the partner or the vendor, what are
- 24:24some reasons that people give you or if they give you any at
- 24:26all for not signing up or they just kind of don't respond?
- 24:29I think the. Okay, the biggest, sometimes the
- 24:33biggest things that we get from people are why would I want to
- 24:36give away free beer for you to make money off of us?
- 24:39And I'm like, well, that's OK, I hear you.
- 24:41I hear what you're saying. I want you to see the larger
- 24:44picture. It's like we are not
- 24:45millionaires making, you know, money off 499 a year kind of
- 24:49right. So, right, it's this is
- 24:52definitely a passion project. We love what we do and we see
- 24:55that this is 100% that this, this works and this brings
- 24:59people together. And I think sometimes it's just
- 25:01especially right now with the economy being kind of crazy
- 25:04right now. I have had, we've had probably
- 25:07in the last year, the most breweries closing that I've ever
- 25:10had in the 10 years that we, and a lot of it could be is like our
- 25:15lease is up and the landlord they're jacking up rent prices
- 25:19or it's just they don't know what costs are going to be.
- 25:22So nobody is really wanting to jump on and sign on to something
- 25:25new right now. So that's, you know, the biggest
- 25:28thing is like people just don't kind of know what's happening
- 25:30right now. When I hear somebody say like,
- 25:32well, why would I want to give away free beer?
- 25:34You know, I, that hurts my heart because as somebody who's been
- 25:38in marketing for 20 plus years, I'm like, wait, I need you to
- 25:41think the bigger picture. I, I don't stop at that.
- 25:43I will try to talk them into not talk them in, try to help them
- 25:47see the light as it don't think about it as giving away a free
- 25:50beer because we all know like what making a pint of beer is
- 25:53like what, 607080 cents a pint, right?
- 25:56So you're buying a pint for seven, 8-9 dollars, giving one
- 26:00away, but potentially creating a lifelong new customer and
- 26:04bringing hopefully other people in.
- 26:06So that's, you know, we can't give anybody guarantees like,
- 26:09hey, we're going to bring into the our hope is that we can get
- 26:13people through the door and then you need to hand it off and do
- 26:16your job, right. So that only isn't about here.
- 26:19It's the experience, right? If you're going to get terrible
- 26:22service, you're going to get somebody who is having a bad day
- 26:25who's they're giving you that. That's hard because you want to,
- 26:28they want to, people want to walk away with such a great warm
- 26:31fuzzy feeling about the place that they're in, they're
- 26:34spending their money at. So, yeah.
- 26:35So, Steven I. Again, Yeah, No, Yeah, it's,
- 26:39yeah. Again, as consumers, we go in,
- 26:41we go to events like I, I used, I used craft tapped at Marble
- 26:45Fox, but I was going there anyway.
- 26:46He'd go to events that have free beer and things.
- 26:48But guess what? We're we're going to stay.
- 26:50We're going to, yeah. We're.
- 26:52Going to now we're going to get the food we're going to order
- 26:54some more beer like you said we might bring several people with
- 26:58us Hey get you got your craft tapped app let's all go and then
- 27:01we'll stick around and spend two or three or four hours right
- 27:03that's that's the premise yeah that's a big.
- 27:05Thing that stands out of my mind when you were talking about one
- 27:08of the events in Florida and you know how many people are coming
- 27:11in they're hanging out on the patio and they're like I'm here
- 27:14because of you know, because of you all and and you 100% it
- 27:19shows up right. So you know, you show proof to
- 27:21the brewery owners that, but it's there.
- 27:24I mean, you've got the up. No people.
- 27:26Are members literally we have testimonial of them saying we
- 27:30decide where we're going to go based upon who's on the app.
- 27:33They whip open the apps. Where have we not been?
- 27:35Where do we want to go? So the people I say to people,
- 27:38hey, listen, you don't want to be a partner, That's fine.
- 27:41What I'm going to tell you is that our members say, let's see
- 27:44if there's two breweries next to each other and that's a partner
- 27:47and that's not a partner. We're going to go to the other
- 27:49partners. So, and with the no contract,
- 27:51I'm always like, try, just try us out if you don't like it.
- 27:55Here's another kind of cool aspect that I mean, there's so
- 27:57many cool things about Craft have on, you know, that's why I
- 28:00still work for him for 10 years. We do also share our member data
- 28:03with folks with our partners. So if you've come in, you've
- 28:06checked in on the app, we collect that data and we do
- 28:09share that information with our partners.
- 28:12Now we don't share people's names.
- 28:13We just share the e-mail address and when they came in because
- 28:16for them, it's great for them to see month by month, OK, does
- 28:19this also, you know, lock into what we saw for our sales on the
- 28:23POS for craft tap, yada, yada. But it's also great for them to
- 28:26be able to do additional outreach.
- 28:28Like if they came in, they should be able to reach back out
- 28:30to you. Add them to your CRM system, put
- 28:33them on, you know, an E blast. If they don't want to receive
- 28:36your stuff, they'll hit unsubscribe.
- 28:38But that is one of our also like as a partner of ours, we want to
- 28:42help you. We're going to give you data.
- 28:44So we not only do we put content ads out there, but we give data
- 28:48again. Why wouldn't you sign up for
- 28:49crash as a new partner, right? I know so so with.
- 28:54That data tell us some success stories from your partners, like
- 28:57with they received this data and they're like, hey, we're up X
- 29:01amount or whatever those things are. 100% we have conducted
- 29:05surveys throughout the years as well.
- 29:07And so it's fun to share that information with our partners.
- 29:10We reach out to our members and we're like, Hey, you know, how
- 29:13often do you, do you order another beer after you use your
- 29:17BOGO? Do you bring in, you know, non
- 29:19craft hat members? Do you purchase merch?
- 29:21Do you purchase food? So it's great to have those
- 29:24stats and statistics that when I'm talking to somebody who
- 29:27potentially is a new partner, you know, it's great to be able
- 29:29to, I love data. So it's obviously like, let's
- 29:31present some data because it's tangible, like, right.
- 29:34And that's also another like you should be part of us.
- 29:36But again, if people don't, if they don't want to be, if they
- 29:38don't want to be on it, we do not hold our, our partners feet
- 29:42to the fire because we don't want to burn any bridges.
- 29:44We want you to be part of our family, our craft hat family.
- 29:47My message first to people are like, welcome to the craft hat
- 29:50family. When we have new partners, come
- 29:52on, I say welcome to our family because it is a family.
- 29:55And I want our partners to feel supported.
- 29:58I want them to feel like they're getting something out of being
- 30:01with us, you know? Amy I.
- 30:02Feel like this comes up almost almost every episode.
- 30:06Scott, you would you would probably agree with this almost
- 30:08every episode that we have, we talk so much about the expansion
- 30:13of breweries. You're drinking cider tonight.
- 30:15So many breweries that are selling ciders and they're
- 30:18selling seltzers and they've moved into other drinks as well.
- 30:22And that's all part of the on your app because all these
- 30:25people that are coming in now and they're also going to the
- 30:29breweries where there's a lot more offerings now for everybody
- 30:33100%. That really obviously expands
- 30:36the demographic, expands the outreach.
- 30:39You've got a lot of people who are maybe they're a couple and
- 30:42you know, he loves his IP as and she doesn't like to drink beer.
- 30:45Well, guess what? There's cider on tap or some of
- 30:47them even have wine. But then they're having the
- 30:49seltzers is key. Like everyone for me too, like
- 30:52I'll drink a beer and then I'm like, so I'll drink a seltzer
- 30:55after that because sometimes you just don't want another beer and
- 30:58you're full or something. Now, I don't know about you
- 31:00guys, but in Minnesota, the breweries up here make now THC
- 31:04drinks. Yeah.
- 31:05Do you guys do that down there? We're seeing a lot.
- 31:07Of that, yeah, what I mean. It's fantastic.
- 31:10I'm a love that they have cuz they're bringing in a whole
- 31:13other different again, demographic of people that maybe
- 31:17they're not beer drinkers, but people love the whole atmosphere
- 31:21of a brewery, right? You've got dogs, you got kids.
- 31:24I do yoga every Sunday at one of our partner breweries and it's
- 31:28and it's yoga and a pint. You do your yoga, the beer
- 31:30garden for an hour, gorgeous. And then you get a pint.
- 31:33It's 15 bucks. You're like, I'm so happy.
- 31:35Guess what? We all stay longer than one
- 31:37pint, right? So and then there's the food
- 31:39truck and then we're watching football and I mean, it's just,
- 31:42it's really breweries are have taken over a lot of the
- 31:46restaurants because it's really the place to be.
- 31:48It's a gathering, social gathering, family gathering,
- 31:51dogs can be there, bike races, yoga, like everything.
- 31:55And then and of course. Now that breweries have a lot of
- 31:57light loggers, you're going hey, I could do yoga and then I feel
- 32:00OK cuz go have. I worked it all off I feel.
- 32:06Great. Exactly we you were just talking
- 32:11about. Experiences in in breweries.
- 32:14We, we just went to East Nashville Beer works in Lebanon
- 32:17and did a, a recording there a week or two ago and we actually
- 32:21brought this up to Anthony Davis, who's the owner.
- 32:23The first point I'm making is the place is beautiful.
- 32:26The whole, the place is amazing. Like it's we'd have to take you
- 32:29if you came to Nashville. We take it because it's amazing.
- 32:31I'm in multiple floor. They have a dog.
- 32:34Park a dog. Park Steve's favorite thing
- 32:36about the place? I think it's as funny as they
- 32:40go. We they have a big mezzanine
- 32:42that we were sitting on doing the podcast episode and there's
- 32:46a big, you know, there's a big old area downstairs, open area
- 32:51for kids and everything else. And he looks over there.
- 32:53There's a big dog park and there's big TV's, wide screen
- 32:57TV's to watch sporting. Events.
- 32:58I mean, they really have thought of everything.
- 33:00Families. Kids, dogs, and then it like as
- 33:03an adult you can go upstairs and be away from the like the kids
- 33:07part, you know, if you're from the dog.
- 33:08Yeah, he's kind of figured out the place is amazing.
- 33:11It's kind of okay. We're going, we're going, we're
- 33:14going there upstairs. Has to be accompanied by an
- 33:17adult, but I have to be. A company, they don't let me up
- 33:21there by myself, right? They're like I need some ID and
- 33:26where's your supervisor? And they look at they.
- 33:28Look at Steve and say, is he with you?
- 33:29And see he's like, no, I don't know that guy.
- 33:31No who? Was that guy I'll be the dog?
- 33:34For you guys, I was just. I was come shopping for dogs
- 33:38that got left. You're right.
- 33:39Hey, yeah, you know the Brewers do all those adoptions and I'm
- 33:42like I cannot go, I already have two dogs, I cannot go.
- 33:45I will totally suckered into getting another dog.
- 33:48There's no way I've not attempted to have a partner.
- 33:51I'm sorry. We have a partner here also in
- 33:53the suburbs that has the same thing.
- 33:55They built a huge dog park. Like, that's a great idea.
- 33:58So many people wanna bring their dogs and it's like well behaved
- 34:02dogs, but they let them take off and run loose while they're
- 34:05having their beer. I love it.
- 34:07Yeah, it's a great. Thing for everyone.
- 34:10In regards. To East national beer work so we
- 34:12did bring this up to Anthony Davis specifically who's the
- 34:15owner and we asked him about craft hat specifically.
- 34:18There's another one that we were fans of and and promote here is
- 34:21national brew pass. You know, they've got the
- 34:23passport around and we asked him that question about how do you
- 34:27feel about things like that and he said exactly what you said.
- 34:29He he loves it. He's pro that because he's not
- 34:32giving up anything. He's getting getting people in
- 34:36the building and that's what they're looking for.
- 34:37If I got to give away a beer, who cares?
- 34:39You know he's a smart. To me, that's, that's forward
- 34:42thinking. That's not tunnel vision.
- 34:44You're thinking, all right, what's the bigger picture?
- 34:47I'm bringing in people at 100%. So hopefully we're bringing them
- 34:52in. I give away a free beer, they
- 34:54buy one. Hopefully they're bringing other
- 34:55people who are going to drink it and they're going to come back
- 34:57before the next month. So I have a local place here at
- 35:01Loose Line Brewing very close to me.
- 35:03I mean, yeah, I use my BOGO there, but I go there probably
- 35:052-3 more times before the next month is up, you know, because I
- 35:08like their beer and I love the atmosphere.
- 35:10It's close. Bring some cards, you know, hang
- 35:12out, we'll have activities. So yeah, you're, it's our place
- 35:16is going to have the person who comes in and gets their BOGO one
- 35:20and done by and, and doesn't come in for the next month. 100%
- 35:23they're going to, but it's very minimal, minimal part and
- 35:27population of our membership, you know, you're always going to
- 35:30have the Ding Dongs who've never been in the service industry,
- 35:33who've never worked in a restaurant, who don't understand
- 35:36about, you know, tipping and you're going to have that.
- 35:38But the more majority of people are amazing and they're going to
- 35:42tip on the fact that I got 2 beers, one was free, I'm going
- 35:45to tip on what I would have paid and I'm going to buy more and
- 35:48I'm going to bring friends in. So yeah, 100% and.
- 35:51Like you said earlier, it might introduce someone to a place
- 35:54they've never been to before. And you're like, Oh my God, how
- 35:56have I missed this? Now I'm going to come back.
- 35:57You've got to like long costume, potentially 100%. 100% and
- 36:01they're going to remember because what I say sometimes
- 36:03when people say, well, you know, when I'm approaching the the
- 36:06aspect of maybe a potential new partner and they're like, well,
- 36:09you know, we don't like the fact that, you know, it's a monthly
- 36:12deal. Like we do like the idea of it,
- 36:14you know, once a year kind of deal.
- 36:15And I think, OK, I respect that. I hear what you're saying there.
- 36:20Here's what we go to is how do you recognize and remember a
- 36:24brand? You know, how do you recognize
- 36:25like Target or Nike? It's repetition, repetition,
- 36:28repetition, repetition. That's how you are going to
- 36:30create that lifelong loyal customer is coming.
- 36:33And that and that's why we feel our program works with the once
- 36:36a month offering is you know what, I have a craft trip.
- 36:39I can go back there, I can go back there.
- 36:41It's the it's the brand repetition.
- 36:42So and nothing against getting somebody is getting somebody in
- 36:46so great wonderful so but that's just what works for us for craft
- 36:51out yeah and I think it's. Also important to point out that
- 36:54not only are you involved with breweries, but you're also
- 36:58involved in other aspects, cideries and distilleries and
- 37:01even restaurants as well. Yep.
- 37:03Absolutely, But we do love to work with anyone who's gonna or
- 37:07craft beer or cider whatnot. So we have a lot of restaurant
- 37:11partners and what we love to do with the restaurants, because
- 37:13obviously they're overhead is a lot more of, you know, buying
- 37:16the kegs and not making the beers.
- 37:17A lot of times, like we will have them tack on a you have to
- 37:21buy a certain amount of food to get your BOGO because, you know,
- 37:24restaurant more so is like that's going to be a destination
- 37:27place for a member. Like, hey, we're going to the
- 37:29restaurant, we're probably going to get food anyways, right, So
- 37:32it's a plus plus. So it's not, you know, again,
- 37:35like with a brewery, the cost, it's so minimal for them to do a
- 37:38BOGO. The restaurant they're buying
- 37:40the Keg, there's a lot more overhead.
- 37:42So it makes it more enticing for restaurants to come on board.
- 37:45We don't want to discriminate. So, right, there's great
- 37:49distillery in Northeast Minneapolis, phenomenal.
- 37:53Earl Giles, amazing, amazing cocktails, great spirits.
- 37:57They have phenomenal food. And the offer basically is buy a
- 38:00pizza and you get a BOGO cocktail.
- 38:03I mean, I'm sorry. That's a phenomenal deal, right?
- 38:05It is a great deal. They do really well.
- 38:09The pizzas are amazing, the food's awesome.
- 38:11And usually people are getting more than one drink.
- 38:14So, you know, you're like, wow, this is really good.
- 38:16I'll get another or let me try the gin.
- 38:19Yeah, we do not discriminate if Steve and I were.
- 38:21Vendors or potential vendors? What?
- 38:25What would be the process of us getting set up with you to say
- 38:29yes, we want to be a part of this 100%?
- 38:31That's all you have to say right there, and then I'll take it
- 38:33from there. You just take care of the.
- 38:35Rest. You know what we do have there
- 38:39is there is a tab on our website that says request more
- 38:42information to become a partner and you can fill that out.
- 38:45We'll get an e-mail and then I am automatically reach out to
- 38:48you. I explained, Hey, here's the
- 38:50features and benefits of being our partner.
- 38:52We're going to get you set up. We do everything for our
- 38:55partners. We we create the web page.
- 38:58The web page will live on our website.
- 38:59It will live on our app. And that's all the information
- 39:02about a little cute little about us, about the brewery or cider
- 39:05winery. It's going to have the offer,
- 39:07the craft tab offer, it will have your hours, your address,
- 39:11and then again, those live links we create that they can go back
- 39:14to either their website or any social pages.
- 39:17So we set all that up on our end.
- 39:20You don't have to just go onto the website though.
- 39:22If we are communicating on a telephone call or an e-mail and
- 39:25you say, all right, cool, let's do it.
- 39:27That's all I need. I just need somewhere that says
- 39:30let's do it. We take it from there.
- 39:33Then we send that to you guys. Y'all look at it, make sure it's
- 39:36OK, download your staff all of oh here's another thing we can
- 39:40talk about. So as a partner of ours, all
- 39:43their staff members get 6 month free craft out memberships.
- 39:46So we give all well. What?
- 39:49Like what? Yes.
- 39:50Yes, yes, we need some employees.
- 39:52To use so they can get that, yeah.
- 39:54And work for us for free, I know.
- 39:56So what we do is it's a great training tool.
- 39:59If you have the app on your phone, it's less like.
- 40:01That you're going to turn someone away with like, oh,
- 40:04what's craft have? I don't know what this is,
- 40:06right, but it's our way of saying thank you so much for
- 40:08being our partner, putting your faith in US.
- 40:10And here here's a gift that you can give to your staff and
- 40:13again, alleviates hopefully less emails to us from frustrated
- 40:17customers going they don't know what it is, you know, could be
- 40:20new staff or whatnot. So that's a brand promise on our
- 40:23part. So we give we give that to all,
- 40:25you know, our new partners. So they download staff once they
- 40:28say like, all right, everything looks good.
- 40:30We then go live and we make the announcements on our social
- 40:33media pages. So there's a lot of like social
- 40:36for our partners. We really try to get, I mean.
- 40:41That's I know. I know, right?
- 40:43Like what is everyone waiting for?
- 40:46It's like, I mean if. If the people, if the employees
- 40:48that got it for free utilized it, it's like, man, that is just
- 40:51nice. I mean, I can just go I go to
- 40:53this place anyway and get a couple.
- 40:54I guess if I will get one free here and here.
- 40:56Oh my God, it's such a nice little perk, especially if we're
- 40:58going somewhere anyway. They love it.
- 41:00They. Love it.
- 41:00A lot of times it's fun for it's fun for the new, the new
- 41:04partners because maybe it's around a special time or they'll
- 41:06sometimes they'll tell me like, oh, we're going to run like a
- 41:08contest and you know, you're, they're going to give out the
- 41:10membership to the employees at some point.
- 41:12But they're like, let's run a let's run a contest tonight.
- 41:14Like who's gonna sell the most or who's gonna, you know, clean
- 41:17our who's gonna roll the most napkins or, you know, whatever
- 41:20it is or if it's a fun holiday, what a fun thing to give to
- 41:23your, you know, employees like, hey, guess what?
- 41:26We just signed off this program and now you guys all have this
- 41:29free 6 month craft hat membership.
- 41:30So please go out and use that. I would love that.
- 41:34A Christmas gift. They're like, hey, come.
- 41:37On listen like. Friday and Christmas we sell a
- 41:40lot of memberships to folks because they could have.
- 41:44Already we got a lot of gift. Cards, we run a lot of specials
- 41:48and I mean we do phenomenal because it's a great gift to
- 41:52give somebody like hey, lover, lover, whatever.
- 41:56It's a great gift to give somebody as a gift card.
- 41:58So one of the biggest features. I like is with the app is cuz
- 42:02guess what this comes everywhere with it's gonna be with.
- 42:05You just gotta remember you got the app like maybe in Knoxville.
- 42:07I just forgot to use it, but I had the phone.
- 42:11Yeah, I know. I got back to Nashville and I
- 42:14got on the app and I was like, what is wrong with me?
- 42:17Like Dang it now. You gotta go back there.
- 42:20Rookie mistake. It was a.
- 42:21Rookie mistake. I'm already going to make up for
- 42:23it. Denver again when I go.
- 42:24Yes, but now I know, I know. And here.
- 42:26I expect to see, like, some fun photos in Denver next week.
- 42:30So you will and. As a matter of fact, we've got a
- 42:33group text for the people going and I sent a text to them
- 42:36yesterday and said, guys, because I was looking at the,
- 42:39the Colorado area in the Denver area and I was like, get, get
- 42:42this thing. If you're, you live in
- 42:43Tennessee, everybody's coming from Tennessee.
- 42:45It's 499 for two years. Like it's, you're literally it's
- 42:48499 and you're getting the second year free.
- 42:49So it's 4:00 to 9:00 for two years.
- 42:51Exactly. Guys, we go.
- 42:52One place and use it. You've already got it.
- 42:55It's fun. It's going crazy.
- 42:57So it's yeah, it's amazing. So again, consumers first US, we
- 43:02love this stuff. So me.
- 43:04Too me too I love it. That's why that's why when I
- 43:06heard about the concept the you know the original, the the
- 43:10majority owner I am actually one of the owners he came to me and
- 43:13was like hey, so I have this idea we've got this idea.
- 43:17Let me show you the business plan and he because he knew I
- 43:19was a marketer and I was like sign me up right let's do this
- 43:22so I started part time with him. I had a full time other job with
- 43:26ad agency and whatnot and funny story, OK, so this owner, he
- 43:30went to high school and graduated with my older brother
- 43:33and I graduated high school with his younger sister.
- 43:35So we've known each other for a very, very long time.
- 43:38So when he came to me, I was like, all right, this is solid.
- 43:41He's a business owner. I know this isn't like a weird,
- 43:43you know, janky thing. So I knew that, you know, this
- 43:45was some this was going to go somewhere.
- 43:47And so I actually worked with them part time while working
- 43:50another full time job because I knew this was going to go
- 43:53somewhere. I I got I wanted to stick with
- 43:55this. This is a great idea.
- 43:56This is great concept. This is right up my wheelhouse
- 43:59where I feel most comfortable talking to people, you know,
- 44:02bringing people into the light, right?
- 44:05So, yeah, so luckily were able to bring me on full time and,
- 44:08and give me a little baby chunk of the business.
- 44:09So I'm I'm I'm in there, I'm in it in it to win it.
- 44:13Let's go Tennessee. We're saying yes.
- 44:15Come on, Tennessee, we're gonna do our part over here and we're
- 44:18gonna keep, we're gonna keep promoting it and just keep
- 44:20pushing it, even just amongst friends.
- 44:22It's like, guys, you're missing out if you don't do if you don't
- 44:24do this thing I've mentioned. Our our whole thing is like feet
- 44:28on the street gruel marketing. It's like we gotta get our
- 44:30tribe, you know, going and talking about us because
- 44:33obviously marketing is expensive, but you need
- 44:35marketing. But we're a little baby company
- 44:37and so we need advocates and people like you guys to be like,
- 44:40this is great. You guys should we appreciate it
- 44:43100% we're. Gonna we're gonna preach it
- 44:47because we use it and feel good about it.
- 44:49We we're gonna use it. We, we use it.
- 44:51I mean, it's our feet on the street.
- 44:53We literally are, yes. Cool.
- 44:56We, you know, it's really so we really it's craft hat.
- 44:59We really try to there's another way we really try to support our
- 45:02partners is we always let them know, hey, if you guys are
- 45:05holding any sort of like charity events and you need silent
- 45:09auction items, we happily will donate gift card for silent
- 45:13auction items. They just have to reach out and
- 45:15ask us. We just ran some really cool
- 45:18promotional cross promotional things with like the memorial
- 45:21blood drive. So we did it in Minnesota and
- 45:24Kansas City and it was give a pint, get a pint, get a pint.
- 45:28So if they gave a pint of blood, they got a free three month
- 45:31craft type membership from us. So we really try to put our
- 45:35brand behind, you know, great, you know, ideas and other brands
- 45:40and you know, good for the community kind of deal.
- 45:42We're working with a thing called brewery running series.
- 45:44If you guys, I think you guys have that in Tennessee, the
- 45:46brewery running series. So it's basically folks can sign
- 45:50up, they can purchase like a race and they meet at a brewery,
- 45:54they do a 5K, you get the race and then you get, you know, the
- 45:57beer after and again, a sense of community.
- 45:59So we're partnering with them, you know, kind of and they're in
- 46:01like 16 different states around around the country.
- 46:06We're working with like triathlon places, race day
- 46:09events and you know, any, any way that we can get our brand
- 46:11up, It's obviously like health focus.
- 46:13But I really love the idea of like, you know, the memorial
- 46:15blood. They're low on, you know,
- 46:17they're low on blood donors. So like, let's go anything that
- 46:20we can do. But again, charity stuff, if any
- 46:23of our partners are needing, you know, they're supporting these
- 46:26sort of charities, we're always happy to donate, you know, gift
- 46:28cards because it's it's good for them, right?
- 46:31It's for them, good for us. Yeah.
- 46:33And I mean, I want to point that out.
- 46:34It's very important to point out, by the way, that on your
- 46:36website you have a pretty big list of the charities that you
- 46:41work with. So for people that are really
- 46:43interested in saying, hey, maybe I want to get involved in a
- 46:45charity, you know, you can go on your website, Wiz in the
- 46:50website. Tap.com page on.
- 46:54There. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:56There are dozens of. Names on this list too, yeah.
- 46:59You know, like I just, my daughter just had a soccer
- 47:01banquet and they had a cancer benefit game and chair anything.
- 47:07And we donated gift cards to the baskets for that.
- 47:11So for us, it's like the more the merrier.
- 47:14Let's get our name out there. Let's get our anyone who wants
- 47:16to try to partner with us, let's talk about it.
- 47:19And it's good for them, good for us, right.
- 47:21We're just everyone needs to drink beer.
- 47:24Yeah, that's. And if you don't?
- 47:27Drink beer though, too, though. How do you how much do you love
- 47:31the, the NA space right now too? So I have plenty of people in my
- 47:36life that are do not drink. They're NA drinkers.
- 47:39And the NA beer out there is phenomena.
- 47:41I have a case of like NA Corona here at the house just just to
- 47:44have just sometimes, you know, it's Taco Tuesday and I don't
- 47:46really feel I don't want to have the boozy alcohol, but it tastes
- 47:49exactly like a Corona and it's so good.
- 47:53So what what's going on in that area?
- 47:55And a lot of these breweries now, you know, they carry the
- 47:57NA, which is great. Again, a new demographic, you
- 47:59know, broadening that for people.
- 48:02And I think there's places that are really trying to actually
- 48:05brew it and have it on tap. But you know, that goes into a
- 48:07whole like cost, you know, cost thing with how expensive is that
- 48:11going to be for them and what not sure.
- 48:13I love that whole new space too, yeah.
- 48:16It's it's almost a necessity for a lot of again, if they don't
- 48:18brew it, they're going to have something on tap for the most
- 48:20part. We've seen it a million times.
- 48:22Or in cans they're. Going to have in cans kind of
- 48:24yeah so they. So they have that option for
- 48:26people. Yep, Yep, and.
- 48:27That's really great to have. Again, that just says that says
- 48:30that speaks miles for, you know, that company and that venue that
- 48:33they're really thinking about everybody and they want to
- 48:36create that space for everybody to come in.
- 48:38You know, E National beer Work says that that dog park dogs
- 48:41can't drink beer, but maybe they could have some non alcoholic
- 48:43beer or something. I don't look for dogs, maybe
- 48:48some. Non.
- 48:51Profit, those things do. Exist we had when somebody gave
- 48:55us a gift for our dog and it was a non alcohol, but it wasn't a
- 48:57real non alcoholic beer. It was a dog beer.
- 48:59It was non alcoholic, but it was like a dog beer in a can.
- 49:02Yeah, it was like head like juices and stuff in it.
- 49:05Oh my dogs. Would love that.
- 49:06Are you kidding me? Well, my dog, she doesn't.
- 49:10I. Don't give her the beer, but she
- 49:11loves to lick the bottom of the cans or the OR the bottles, so I
- 49:14think she felt like she was getting one.
- 49:18Well, actually get what's in the can.
- 49:20Thanks Jeff for. Sharing.
- 49:20Yeah, Yeah. I'll share.
- 49:22This one, yeah, right. Yeah, I mentioned 4. 99 is the
- 49:26introductory price into Tennessee multiple times.
- 49:30And we got ours. We're locked in for two years.
- 49:33And if you're in a Tennessee and if you listen to this in
- 49:36Tennessee, just go ahead and get it.
- 49:38Even if you don't think you're going to use it for 499, My God,
- 49:40you use it once, get it. What is the normal price kind of
- 49:44in every other state? So none of you thinks it's just
- 49:47499, it's going to make some money, right?
- 49:50You know. Yeah.
- 49:51So what we try to do is when we were launching in a new state or
- 49:54we're really trying to build up that state, we obviously offer a
- 49:57very low price because it's not about again, we're not trying to
- 50:00make a gazillion dollars. We're trying to get our name out
- 50:02there. We're trying to get brand
- 50:03awareness and and you really get it out there and word of mouth
- 50:06more so, right, more important to like us get our our name out
- 50:09there and hey, what is this right?
- 50:11You guys are like what we're going to talk about it now in
- 50:13Minnesota. It is, I want to say for years
- 50:17it's $68 for the year maybe I can't remember, I don't, that's
- 50:22not my area, but I want I want to say it's like $68 for the
- 50:25year. You can get a six month, you can
- 50:27get a year. It really is different tiers all
- 50:29across the country and it's based upon how long we've been
- 50:32there, how many partners we have, how many members, members
- 50:35do we have kind of deal. So that's sort of how we
- 50:38qualify. All right, what's the pricing on
- 50:40it? So some places are 1999, some
- 50:42are 2599 worth $68, could be $40.
- 50:46It just really depends on the area, how many partners, how
- 50:49long we've been there, how many members that we have.
- 50:51Obviously Tennessee, we are growing.
- 50:54It's a huge market. We're going to grow there.
- 50:56We we don't want to be charging $50 and you're like, well, you
- 50:59only have 12 partners here. Like what Right.
- 51:01It hasn't any sense for us, right Yep.
- 51:03So that really did just what the cool thing again is you got it
- 51:07for that, but you can use it anywhere in the holy name where
- 51:10that's it's like. It's almost like you cheating a
- 51:13little bit. Like I got it to 499, but I'm
- 51:15going to Denver and I'm going to get $100 worth of freak, you
- 51:18know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
- 51:21Yeah. So basically like everyone's
- 51:23like, oh, can I buy it in a different state?
- 51:25Well, you have to basically where you buy it is where you
- 51:27where you live in the zip code that you know.
- 51:29So you know that's you got to be honest.
- 51:33Yeah, but. But again, if you but even if
- 51:35you bought it for 68 bucks and I'm going to there, I'm going to
- 51:37get I'm getting it back. I'm good if you go.
- 51:39Out once a month or twice a month.
- 51:41You you're getting your money's worth for sure.
- 51:44Well the like in Minnesota, we do actually try to do like 2
- 51:48happy hours a month. So we're doing even more because
- 51:50we have more people, we have more partners, we have more
- 51:52availabilities of people to work it.
- 51:54So you could potentially get, you know, a gift card to the
- 51:58place or some free merch or whatever as well.
- 52:00And the sense of community. So I feel like our our members,
- 52:04really our members are fierce and they have been with us for a
- 52:06very, very, very long time. Yeah, that's awesome.
- 52:09I love them so much. They're so good.
- 52:12I'd love to. See that here?
- 52:13I'd love to see a little community, you know?
- 52:15Let's go. Come on.
- 52:18Nashville, I think we. Can.
- 52:20I think we can. I think we can do.
- 52:21We're going to put it out there. It's going to happen.
- 52:24Steve and I are going to. Lead the way.
- 52:24We're going to lead that effort here in Tennessee.
- 52:27We're we can be your ambassadors.
- 52:29If you need ambassadors, we're we.
- 52:31Will be your. Ambassadors here, Happy to do
- 52:33it. Happy to do it.
- 52:34Do you know by any chance about roughly how many members that
- 52:38you have at this point on your app across the whole United?
- 52:40States, sure, yeah, I think we're around 45,000 members
- 52:45across 35,000 no, for 17 States. And it's funny because I've
- 52:50always been saying 16, but I think Scott, you said, I think
- 52:54it's 17 because I always forget, sorry.
- 52:56Nebraska, we're in there because we have like 1 partner in Omaha
- 52:59or like across the border. It's like always sorry,
- 53:04Nebraska. Yeah, we're, you know, the 17
- 53:07States and we're it's, it's phenomenal how it's, it
- 53:11continues to grow. Funny enough, I don't know if I
- 53:13told you guys this. So a few years ago we had a
- 53:16couple who. Woman is from here, her
- 53:19husband's from Australia. They're here.
- 53:21They were craft tap members. They moved back to Australia
- 53:24where he was from and they actually franchised craft tap in
- 53:28Australia. Yep.
- 53:29It's no longer happening, which really sucks because how fun
- 53:32would it be? Like I'm using my craft tap in
- 53:34Australia, right. But you know, they had a good
- 53:37run of it. They had it up and running for a
- 53:38few years and then they just, I don't know if it was too much
- 53:41work for him or whatnot, but they had a lot of partners on.
- 53:44And so that was phenomenal. I thought we are global.
- 53:51I was looking. At that data was cool.
- 53:54Well, that data. Was coming back to you guys.
- 53:55I bet that was cool, right? Just seeing it internationally.
- 53:59That was really cool. I got to talk to them, train
- 54:02them, kind of give them, you know, sort of the sales
- 54:04materials, all the blueprints. But again, I was like, I really
- 54:07need to probably go there and really give them the low down.
- 54:10But they weren't the other owners were not buying that.
- 54:13So OK, fine, yes, that was fun. I mean, I wish we could really,
- 54:18it would be great if we could get that going, be great if we
- 54:21could get that going in Canada. You know, I mean, honestly it it
- 54:24could be a global thing, but obviously there's works to do.
- 54:27But yeah, that was a really fun fact that we were actually craft
- 54:30hat Australia. I love that.
- 54:32That is cool. Yeah.
- 54:35Do you guys do? You know, was it documented who
- 54:38your very first partner was that signed up with you guys?
- 54:41Who? Was our first partner boy that's
- 54:46a really great question that's a really great I I need to know
- 54:49that answer now that yeah like they could be the.
- 54:52OK, wait. OK, I hear like the.
- 54:54Jeopardy theme music in my head, right?
- 54:56I know. OK, so fun fact here, fun fact
- 55:00here in 1990490394 I helped open Rock Bottom Brewery in
- 55:07Minneapolis. So yes, obviously, you know,
- 55:10Brock Bunny breweries, Denver Chop House, all that good stuff,
- 55:13right, Obviously pared down a little bit.
- 55:15What's where I really got my big love of of craft beers.
- 55:19Like we at the time, you had to know how beer was made because
- 55:22we would give brewery tours to our to our customers.
- 55:26So I was a server. If they want a brewery tours
- 55:28like let's go and we could actually take them through the
- 55:30brewery, talk about it, tell them how it was made.
- 55:33We had to know how it was made. And so I got that whole, but
- 55:37they never sign out as a partner through that, though.
- 55:40I knew a ton of people through the food and food and food and
- 55:44beverage industry, you know, managers who went on and that's
- 55:47how I connected. And I want to say, gosh, I want
- 55:49to say it's called it was been through Steelery Brewing Company
- 55:53and distillery there in Roseburg.
- 55:54They recently just shut down, but they've I think we're
- 55:58they've been with us really the whole time until like a year
- 56:01ago. So, yeah, yeah, you guys, you
- 56:04guys have Summit down there, Summit Brewing Company if surly,
- 56:07I don't think so, no. I don't know them those.
- 56:10Are they're national? So you know, I just was right,
- 56:13but those are those guys are on. But I want to say it was Ben
- 56:15Bruce Tillery. So I'm going to need to double
- 56:17check that. But we did.
- 56:19We would not actually launch and go live until we had at least 10
- 56:23partners as a go and committed because obviously our commitment
- 56:28is you get 10 credits in your account.
- 56:29So we don't want to sell a membership if we don't even have
- 56:3210 partners listed. We I.
- 56:35Had to get those 10 first partners and then it was like,
- 56:38and then once that started, everyone's like, oh, well, what
- 56:40you know, you got to get when you're in a new territory, it's
- 56:43tough because you got to get those first couple people to
- 56:46just give you in good faith, like, all right, I'm going to
- 56:49jump into this pool with you. Just trust me.
- 56:52You know, history shows we can get these states going.
- 56:55We can get, you know, the territory growing, but we have
- 56:58to have those few that are like, OK, we're going to be the first.
- 57:01We're going to be the flagship for you and we're going to bump
- 57:03in into the into the pond. You're into the pool, the deep
- 57:06end of the pool with you and go. Thankfully, we've had so many
- 57:09amazing places in each of the different states.
- 57:12I'd say, OK, all right, let's try this, let's do it, let's go.
- 57:15So and you guys don't? Have to.
- 57:17There's no taxes or anything. You guys have to navigate
- 57:19between different states, right? None of that stuff matters,
- 57:21right? Different laws between or
- 57:24anything. We are not in certain states
- 57:26because there's, you know, places that have very strict
- 57:29liquor, liquor laws. So we're not in the Carolinas
- 57:31because there is no giving away alcohol whatsoever just because
- 57:35of their laws. You know, they can give away
- 57:37like, you know, food. So I think a hot passport, which
- 57:40is a competitor of ours, but we love those guys.
- 57:42They are in the Carolinas as in like, like with a food offering
- 57:46instead of, you know, beer offering or drink offerings
- 57:48because Carolinas are locked down tight, which is too bad
- 57:51because they're such great, great beer, right, Asheville.
- 57:54North Carolina. Oh my gosh.
- 57:56Right. I don't know if it's the
- 57:58municipalities or what it is, but they are locked down.
- 58:00You can't do it. We're not in like Kentucky,
- 58:02we're not in Ohio, we're not in Indiana because they have very,
- 58:05very tight liquor laws. So and you know, places like
- 58:09Michigan, Arizona, Iowa, Washington, you have to be very
- 58:13careful with the wording. They cannot give away free beer.
- 58:16So that's why sometimes on our offers by two pints at 50% off,
- 58:20so it's basically a BOGO, but you can't say you're giving
- 58:22away, you know a free, OK. That's wow A.
- 58:27Lot of these states are, they're locked down.
- 58:28So we're just like, OK, you know what, We're not even going to
- 58:30touch it. We're not going to go there.
- 58:32Let's just focus on the places that, you know, like Tennessee
- 58:35is ready to go. You know, Florida, Atlanta,
- 58:37Atlanta, like Georgia would be a great, you know, great, great
- 58:40territory to go into as well. So there's so many great states
- 58:44out there that we need to like, get into.
- 58:46Yeah, yeah. You remind me of North Carolina
- 58:50and it's been in the last year or two.
- 58:51And I was, I saw this and I couldn't believe it.
- 58:54One of their laws was they had just approved a happy hour.
- 58:57You could not have a happy hour in North Carolina because just
- 59:00what you're talking about, if you had a happy hour, the price
- 59:02had to be the same all day long. It couldn't be just for a period
- 59:05of time that's recently just changed in like the last year or
- 59:08two. It makes no sense.
- 59:10What's up? Isn't that crazy?
- 59:12It's like you're just listening. How do you not have a happy
- 59:14hour? I don't meant to make any sense.
- 59:15We used to not be. Able to buy alcohol on Sundays
- 59:18here in Minnesota. I was like, what are you are?
- 59:21You I'm from Ohio and I moved here in 1998 and it was, I think
- 59:25it was, I wasn't that that way in Tennessee before the Titans
- 59:28got. Here, Yeah, monster.
- 59:31Football change and. Play on something.
- 59:32And like the grocery stores. I think, like, Kroger didn't
- 59:36listen. Yeah.
- 59:37Like the grocery stores weren't able to sell wine up a few years
- 59:40ago. Yeah, yeah.
- 59:42Yeah, a lot of change here. Yeah, we can't they.
- 59:45We can't buy alcohol out of out of grocery stores at all.
- 59:47It has to be a separate entrance.
- 59:49Yeah. So like, like the Targets here,
- 59:52the Targets have a liquor store. You have to walk out of the door
- 59:55and go into a different door. So.
- 59:57But they're like kidding me. It's a Sunday.
- 59:59All right, fine. We're driving 30 minutes over
- 1:00:01here to Hudson, WI and buying all of our alcohol.
- 1:00:04Does this make sense, anyone? No it does not.
- 1:00:08We had that too. They they relax that too.
- 1:00:10We're still one. We don't have great laws, but
- 1:00:12they're better. They they've relaxed in, say,
- 1:00:13the last 10 years by a lot. Yeah.
- 1:00:16You guys being here, you know. Yes.
- 1:00:19Well, yeah. I'm pretty sure.
- 1:00:22Remember the first time we talked to Eric Latham?
- 1:00:24Steve and he talked about poking the beer?
- 1:00:26Remember poking the beer? I'm pretty sure it started, he
- 1:00:30told us it was in Minnesota. Have you heard of poking the
- 1:00:33beer? Oh.
- 1:00:34Yeah, with the hot poker. What the smoking?
- 1:00:38Yep, Really. And I'm pretty sure so there's
- 1:00:41a, there's a brewery in Johnson City, TN.
- 1:00:44It's, it's Far East of us, it's past Knoxville.
- 1:00:47And they do that event a couple times a year, poking the beer.
- 1:00:49We had never heard about it until he came on this podcast.
- 1:00:52And I'm pretty sure where he said it originated, or one of
- 1:00:54the places is Minnesota, if I recall.
- 1:00:57Is that a big deal up there? Yes, yeah.
- 1:00:59So have you all are like Shells Brewing Company is extremely old
- 1:01:04brewery. It's down in New Ulm, MN it's
- 1:01:07about an two hours South of us. They're a partner of ours and
- 1:01:11they, I mean, they have a phenomenal, they do a massive
- 1:01:15Oktoberfest, like like real Oktoberfest, great brewery
- 1:01:18tours. The old, old stills, the old.
- 1:01:22I mean, they do the poking down there for sure.
- 1:01:25I don't know where it came from, but I wouldn't be surprised if
- 1:01:28that was because like you guys, look at them, it's SHESCHELLS
- 1:01:34Shells Brewing Company, very, very old.
- 1:01:37I'm trying to think of how old when they got established.
- 1:01:39But anyways, super great. I want to say the poking may
- 1:01:42have may have started there, yeah.
- 1:01:45And apparently goes back to like the Vikings days and stuff.
- 1:01:47And then it just kind of picked up it.
- 1:01:49I thought it was the coolest. I've still not experienced it
- 1:01:52and I threatened to do it here. I need to go find somewhere.
- 1:01:54Can we come in a Minnesota? Ever.
- 1:01:56I'm taking you guys around. I'm telling you, yes, I want to.
- 1:01:58Do poking the beer mini apples is.
- 1:02:01So much fun you guys. Mini apples is so fun.
- 1:02:03Definitely in the warmer. Weather you guys get cold up
- 1:02:05that way yeah you know 1. Before and then after like April
- 1:02:10on, hey, we have what's called habitat trails around here.
- 1:02:17So downtown Minneapolis has sky. They have the total skyways and
- 1:02:22it literally connects all the buildings above like a right
- 1:02:25above the so you don't have to go outside ever.
- 1:02:27You don't have to go outside in the winter.
- 1:02:30That way you can. Still get out, right?
- 1:02:32Otherwise you'd get in their house.
- 1:02:35You know you're doing your Maya walk at lunch and we call them
- 1:02:37the Habitat Trails. Love it.
- 1:02:41I lived in upstate New York in the Syracuse area, and I was
- 1:02:44kind of born up that way. And I wish we'd had that because
- 1:02:46it's so cold snow and it's that would be ideal.
- 1:02:49And aren't some of your sidewalks heated too well I.
- 1:02:52Don't know if that's the case, but you know.
- 1:02:55I guess if you're indoors, you know.
- 1:02:57Oh yeah, yeah. I.
- 1:02:57Did go to college up even further north in Duluth, MN.
- 1:03:01Beautiful town. Lake Superior.
- 1:03:03Yep. University of Minnesota Duluth.
- 1:03:05And we actually had, I mean, like underground tunnels
- 1:03:08together from like the dorms to, you know, the class.
- 1:03:13You don't have to go outside because it is cold up there.
- 1:03:17Yeah, exactly. You don't want me to get the?
- 1:03:21Class. Exactly.
- 1:03:22Which is why the beer. Scene is so good up that way
- 1:03:24because it's cold. Right.
- 1:03:27Yeah, I wasn't drinking beer at the time.
- 1:03:30It was a lot of Leinenkugel from Wisconsin because it was.
- 1:03:33We go right across the bridge when Minnesota shut down.
- 1:03:36Let's just travel across the bridge and go get our linies in
- 1:03:39the picture. We get picture for like $3 or
- 1:03:44something. It was amazing.
- 1:03:46Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's great.
- 1:03:50We'll see if you got anything else for Amy just to say.
- 1:03:52Thank you because we get you you coming on today and hopefully we
- 1:03:58can get you to Nashville and please couple of months and show
- 1:04:03you around and you guys here into the Tennessee area more.
- 1:04:07Is there anything? Yeah.
- 1:04:09Is there anything we didn't talk about or you would like to
- 1:04:11summarize or anything that we didn't cover?
- 1:04:13The floor is yours. I mean, no, you guys.
- 1:04:15Have been fantastic. Again, thank you so much for
- 1:04:18having me on and and sharing the enthusiasm about Craft app as
- 1:04:24much as I have. It's so fun to see, you know,
- 1:04:27new people excited and discovered us because I wouldn't
- 1:04:31be with this company for 10 years if I really didn't truly
- 1:04:33believe in it and believe in like again, the power of
- 1:04:36community because that's really what we just want to get for.
- 1:04:39We're not just a beer program or you know, like a freebie da da
- 1:04:42da. We literally want to create that
- 1:04:44sense of community because that's really what it's all
- 1:04:46about. We need to all keep connecting.
- 1:04:48We need to mingle and we need to get together and hang out and
- 1:04:52spend time with each other. So we really, I really
- 1:04:54appreciate it on behalf of Kraftad, thank you so much for
- 1:04:57having us on. You're welcome you.
- 1:04:58Definitely got the point across about community and stuff and
- 1:05:01that you're more than just a BOGO like you said.
- 1:05:04And we love your energy, which when I talked to you the first
- 1:05:07time on the phone, I was like, Oh yeah, this is going to be
- 1:05:09great. I can't.
- 1:05:10See you, I think my first. Text is 3.
- 1:05:11Quarter rounds. Thank you.
- 1:05:16At least see she's going to be. This will be easy.
- 1:05:20And you know your stuff, and it's.
- 1:05:21I don't think this is going to be perfect.
- 1:05:23I could already see it. Yeah.
- 1:05:24You know when. You, you believe in a brand, you
- 1:05:26believe in your company and I know it, you know, inside out.
- 1:05:29And I, I live it, I breathe it, I talk about it, I, I truly
- 1:05:32believe in it. And so it's really easy to sell
- 1:05:35something that you love and believe in, right?
- 1:05:37Yeah, kind of 1/1. Final thing, I just thought of
- 1:05:40your day. How's your day?
- 1:05:41Split up because you're always looking for new partners, right,
- 1:05:45To get on. But like I said earlier, you
- 1:05:47take really good care of the ones you have to.
- 1:05:50How is your time divided during the days of 5050?
- 1:05:53You pick different days or is it just kind of yeah, it ebbs?
- 1:05:56And flow isn't obviously lucky for me.
- 1:05:58I don't have to get on any early morning calls because no but and
- 1:06:01the Brewers want to talk to me or owners want to talk to me at
- 1:06:038/9, 10:00 in the morning. You know nobody.
- 1:06:07People, sometimes people aren't even open till noon, one 2/3,
- 1:06:104:00 in the afternoon and then you've got the time zones.
- 1:06:13But I am still up early. I have a freshman in high
- 1:06:15school, so she's up early. But you know, a lot of times
- 1:06:18it's just getting on my emails, seeing if anybody's responded,
- 1:06:21doing my follow-ups, really following a lot of social
- 1:06:24because that's where we find out like, oh crap, somebody is,
- 1:06:27somebody is closing or oh, this fun event is going on or shoot,
- 1:06:31they open a second location like let's get that on.
- 1:06:34So it is unfortunately a lot of me combing through the socials,
- 1:06:37doing a lot of follow-ups, emails, phone calls, setting up
- 1:06:41events, checking in with my team.
- 1:06:43So my day, like I, you know, it's 7:00 at night here, but I
- 1:06:47work with people on the West Coast.
- 1:06:48So I've got Washington, I've got, you know, Oregon.
- 1:06:51And sometimes I'm having calls at 6:00 my time, which is 4:00
- 1:06:54their time, which is like perfect for them, right?
- 1:06:56And so I mean, I really do work seven days a week because I'm
- 1:06:59always, we're, we're getting stuff in on our, you know, our
- 1:07:01info like maybe from members, our members are great.
- 1:07:04They will let us know, hey, did you know this place closed down
- 1:07:07or hey, they're not taking and it could be that they have new
- 1:07:10staff on and they didn't let that staff member know.
- 1:07:13Well, we're part of Craft Half, so you know, we're always
- 1:07:15monitoring that stuff. So my day is really fluid.
- 1:07:17It ebbs and flows just as to really what's going on.
- 1:07:21But luckily there's no early morning phone calls.
- 1:07:25That's that's your efficient time, I would imagine, right.
- 1:07:27Just if you can really do good, yeah.
- 1:07:29I'm, I'm also heading to, so I'm heading to, I'm heading to
- 1:07:33Phoenix next week, so we'll hold a happy hour there.
- 1:07:35And then I am also heading to Kansas City.
- 1:07:38We're part of the Missouri Brewers Guild, so a lot of times
- 1:07:41we like to join the guilds in the different states.
- 1:07:44If we have a large presence, we'll join the Guild as an
- 1:07:46allied trade member. We like to put money back into
- 1:07:48the economy of the state. We also then can kind of keep a
- 1:07:51possum. Well, what's going on?
- 1:07:52What's happening? How can we be involved?
- 1:07:55Can we donate? Can we sponsor something?
- 1:07:57Well, I'm going to the conference, so I'm really
- 1:07:59excited. It's going to be a Blvd.
- 1:08:01Brewing Company who's not a partner yet, but it'll be two
- 1:08:05days of breakout sessions, you know, addressing in all the
- 1:08:09members get to meet a ton of the owners of the Brewers from the
- 1:08:13different breweries. So I'll get to see a lot of my
- 1:08:15partners that I've never met, but talk to him on the phone and
- 1:08:18then a lot of folks who hopefully you know, we can talk
- 1:08:21to with possibly coming on. But so that's going to be mid
- 1:08:24November. So I'm excited for that.
- 1:08:26I love Kansas City, KS, City's a fun place to be, so never a dull
- 1:08:30moment. In your world, it's never a dull
- 1:08:31moment. It's.
- 1:08:32Fun January. I want to come down there in
- 1:08:35January. You come in here.
- 1:08:36You come on it down. We will make time.
- 1:08:38I want you. I'm pushing it's, yeah. 1.
- 1:08:41Let's go. We will.
- 1:08:43Take you to the good spots. I would love it.
- 1:08:47We look forward to it. Yeah.
