- PlayBetter: The Forsyth GC2 is back. Same name as the 2010 original, but this time it's an all-new $1,699 two-camera, ball data only launch monitor. And it arrives alongside a complete software overhaul that moves everything to subscriptions. The hardware is excellent. The subscription math is tricky. Let's sort it all out. This is Golf Tech Weekly presented by PlayBetter. Welcome in everybody. I'm Mark Shaforjan. He's Daniel Fitzpatrick. A reminder to everybody to use code GTW at playbetter.com for the best pricing on qualifying products. And to please like, subscribe, and comment. Let us know what you think about the new GC2, the new software that Foresight is rolling out, and of course the controversial new pricing tiers that mostly involve subscriptions. We'd love to hear your thoughts. So we've got two stories today. ⁓ the GC2, really the product that put Foresight Sports on the map originally is back in an entirely new form, brand new product. ⁓ and then along with it, ⁓ Foresight's full software and subscription overhaul. So, Daniel, a lot to uncover. Where do we even begin? Yeah, definitely ⁓ informational packed. ⁓ episode that we've got today. ⁓ definitely first most exciting I think of of everything today and and even this week as the as the launch rolls out is the new ⁓ and updated GC2 ⁓ hardware device. ⁓ I mean man, this like you said, Mark, I mean, this is what really made Foresight who Foresight is. man, back when I was ⁓ a teen and and growing into my college years, you know, every Golf Galaxy or every fitting studio seemed to use a GC2 for club fitting back in the day, at least where I lived. ⁓ and to see them kind of rejuvenate, make the device new and upcoming, and add some nice impressive updates to it, especially with the the new software platform. It's really exciting. ⁓ I'm excited to kind of digest ⁓ and and get your thoughts on it. ⁓ for the audience's ⁓ full disclosure. We've both tested this unit already and and had some time with it. So Really excited to see if we're kind of on the same page or if we have different ⁓ thoughts regarding how this device will evolve and and how it'll do in the market. Let's walk through kind of the ⁓ the nuts and bolts of what this is, the GC2 that is. So it's a sixteen sixteen ninety-nine indoor-outdoor sit beside the ball photometric launch monitor. It has two cameras. The form factor of it is ⁓ essentially identical to a GC3 or a Bushnell Launch Pro, except for it now has two cameras. So it doesn't have the third middle camera that you would see in the GC three in the Launch Pro. ⁓ and as such, it is only capable of reading ball data. So you're getting ball speed, launch angle, launch direction, total spin, backspin, side spin, tilt axis, and carry distance. ⁓ Now, the big key thing here, and really Foresight's whole pitch is that all of that data is directly measured. So it is not employing an algorithm. There is no inferring or guessing. And so what they're ⁓ coming out strong with here is saying that listen, we're bringing to the table unassailable, perfectly accurate, the highest quality ball data, and we're doing it at a price that allows somebody to access that data. for less money than it used to cost them if they had to pay up for a GC three or a launch pro. ⁓ of course what you're leaving on the table is all of the club data. So ⁓ this device cannot capture club data. ⁓ there is no subscription unlock that would get it to the club data side of things. It's it's physically impossible for it to ⁓ read club data. So for for as long as you own it, this is always going to be a ball data only device. ⁓ They're not marketing this as a mini GC quad. This is simply foresight accuracy at the lowest foresight price. ⁓ And ⁓ it's a much ⁓ sleeker, smarter, faster processing unit than the old original GC2. ⁓ certainly, you know, that unit by comparison looked kind of Frankenstein almost. This is a ⁓ this is a much more modern looking. Pretty device in a proven form factor, just like the GC3 or the Launch Pro. It has that kind of molded neck that kind of doubles as a carrying case. And then a big one here is for the first time, we've got a color screen ⁓ on the GC2. So ⁓ that's different than than the display we get on the GC3 or the Launch Pro. ⁓ It's crisp, it pops, it works great in direct sunlight. ⁓ It is a little bit smaller. ⁓ and it is not a touch screen, whereas those other devices were touch screen. This is not this is not touchscreen. You've got two ⁓ two screens that cycle through. You can kind of customize the tiles that you want to see on your screen ⁓ in the app. ⁓ but that built-in display, just the same as on those other devices, means that you can use this device as a standalone. If you don't want to interact with a a a phone, a tablet, a computer. ⁓ if you don't want to pay a subscription and you're happy to just get the numbers off of the unit, you can use this as a standalone device. they're listing the battery life as of now at four to six hours. ⁓ I did not directly measure that, so no confirmation there. And another point I'll make is that there is no carrying case included. ⁓ Daniel, hit me with your ⁓ kind of your first impressions of seeing the unit physically, and then let's start talking about ⁓ Plugging it in and ⁓ ripping some shots. Certainly, yeah. So like right from the jump, ⁓ you certainly feel the quality and you know, the foresight brand a little bit when you're unboxing everything. ⁓ you know, everything is so so precisely packaged and even the the build quality of the actual G C two device. I mean, if you've if you've had the ability to hold a G C three or a G C quad, like there's really not a a drop off in the way the devices feel. ⁓ in my opinion. I noticed too, it looks like the exact same cameras that they use on like a GC three. So I don't think that there's like a discounted technology inside the device whatsoever. ⁓ you know I overall like it it really blew me away. I I actually when we first heard that this device was coming, I was pretty critical, honestly. Like I I really didn't think that this device would be worth investing in. I didn't find it to be useful for today's golfers with launch monitors. But then once I took it out of the box, I used it at the range. I used it a little bit off natural grass, playing on a couple holes around the course. And it quickly changed my mind. Like having the built-in screen, that the built-in handle on the back of it, I find is honestly perfect. It it obviously is just like the quad, the quad max, or the the GC3 in that regard. But it makes it ⁓ one of the most easily portable devices that's out there. And honestly, for someone who's looking for basic data with the highest level accuracy that's out there. Like this this is the device. I mean, it it really did ⁓ flip the script for me from my initial knee-jerk probably reaction to hearing about the product to actually using it. Like it was a great experience. Like I yeah zero flaws, really zero criticism in in the packaging, unboxing and even like the connection and actual use of the device. Like everything was smooth, ⁓ which is something to say because as you and me both know like new products, they they sometimes they have their boundaries and and their issues that some things don't work very well when you take them out of the box or maybe they we've even seen things misspelled on boxes of different of different companies. So overall like came away very impressed and like I said it it really did kind of change my mind on if this product would be worthwhile. Yeah. So I think I'm what I'm hearing you describing there is the the build quality, the setup. And the accuracy. And I I I'm exactly right there with you. Those are the kind of the the three pillars that jump to mind to me also in terms of the overall first impressions. Just as you said, you pull this thing out, it is exactly what you expect from Foresight. This is a this is a brand, ⁓ actually more than any that I know that is committed to the utmost engineering and the utmost highest quality components. ⁓ and and the products reflect that. So ⁓ you know, I've been through their their facility and and seen what their quality control process includes. ⁓ it's incredibly ex incredibly impressive. I mean, they're they're firing 8,000 volts at these things. They're they're baking them, they're freezing them, they're pelting them with golf balls, all all in the with the kind of idea of seeing how this product will hold up, not just right off the line, but but down the road. ⁓ that includes just as you mentioned, those ⁓ camera lenses. ⁓ they shared with me that initially the housing that those lenses includes had some plastic in them that they realized that under direct sunlight over time had the potential to melt and just very slightly alter the position of the of the camera lens. We're talking a fraction of a millimeter. That was unacceptable to them. So they developed their own. They they built their own. And so that's That's exactly the type of company we're talking about. And I think as we get into ⁓ comparing it to some other other products here in just a second, ⁓ that's a very big thing to keep in mind. ⁓ accuracy. Daniel, ⁓ I know you and I talked offline. We both were were pretty much blown away by how spot on the ball data accuracy was. Did you have any moments where you questioned ⁓ any of the numbers? I I actually didn't have any. I had a couple maybe on the driving range, but our our driving range ball is our hit or miss, so it could have just been very, very poor, insufficient dimples on the golf ball. I kind of just threw those out. Yeah. ⁓ using it with a premium golf ball into a net and and on the course a little bit. It it was spot on. I even measured off a few of the distances for for full disclosure. I I live at like one foot above sea level, if that. ⁓ and we had no wind. on the day I was testing where I was hitting on the actual course. So it I literally walked off the distances. It it was very, very impressive. which I thought there was going to be a little bit of a drop off to be honest. Without collecting any type of club data, I thought that maybe there was going to be a maybe some inconsistencies in the data captured, but I really didn't see that at all. Honestly, it it was really, really impressive. ⁓ course I didn't I didn't test directly next to another launch monitor. ⁓ but ⁓ you mean as much as we play golf, you know, I I was very, very impressed by the numbers I was getting off of the device itself. Yeah, it my knee-jerk reaction as well. And then I did test it side by side against a G C three. ⁓ the way I was able to position those two units units right next to each other, ⁓ with the ⁓ GC two ⁓ and then the G C three three positioned immediately to its left as you're facing the devices. The G C three's larger ⁓ hitting area. ⁓ allows me to place a ball in the GC2 hitting zone and still be in the well comfortably in the GC three hitting zone as well. So I was able to test shots simultaneously. ⁓ they were literally identical or close enough to identical to call them identical. I'm talking about ⁓ you know, if if it if it reported a ⁓ a carry distance on the the GC two of 127, ⁓ the GC three might read that the carry distance was You know, 126.6 or whatever. It was spot on. RPMs ⁓ within a couple of hundred typically or much less ⁓ launch angle within a degree. ⁓ and I'm talking shot after shot after shot. I tested outdoors, I tested indoors, I tested on multiple different days, I tested in different lighting conditions, ⁓ and that was I walked away. convinced that the ball data that you're getting out of the GC two is exactly the same as the ball data you're getting out of a GC three. ⁓ I'm comfortable calling that a fact. ⁓ Now a couple of points of difference between those two devices that I noticed. ⁓ One, the screen on the new GC two is considerably smaller. Yes, it is color. No it is not a touch screen, whereas it is on the GC three. The touch screen side of things doesn't really bother me that much, quite honestly. ⁓ The smaller display size, ⁓ it's noticeable. ⁓ in the color, for as nice as it is, ⁓ it's just polish. There's no actual real tangible benefit or or gain here that we're making because none of the information that's being presented on that screen is anything that you need color to interpret any of that information. ⁓ it's simply an aesthetic ⁓ polish, but a nice one. ⁓ the hitting zone, you and I both noted that the hitting zone. was ⁓ considerably smaller on the G C two and also oddly shaped. ⁓ you brought this up. We were we were texting back and forth, just sharing our initial reactions, and you said it's like a like a trapezoid shape on the G C two, which it is. So ⁓ I know you measured it and and it was four inches at the top of the zone, closest to the unit, thirteen inches along the sides and then fourteen inches at the bottom of the zone. So ⁓ as you're You know, you're standing there, you're you you you have a very kind of tight window to place the ball when you're closest to the unit. It expands a bit as you're coming away from the unit. The f the GC three, on the other hand, is rec is a rectangle and a and a much larger one. And so it's a lot easier to get the ball in the zone with the GC three. I don't know that this is a critical knock on the GC two. It just is what it is. ⁓ but it's what it's something worth noting. And when I was using it outdoors, as you're following your divot pattern and as you're moving around, ⁓ I did find that I had to reposition more frequently with the G C two than I did with the G C three, 'cause I just physically was running out of space, ⁓ to to get into the hitting zone. ⁓ any other ⁓ any other comments or or observations that you want to throw in there, Daniel? Yeah, I mean, I I used it a lot with the ⁓ with the mobile app, ⁓ when I was trying to collect some session stuff and I found like that connection process was like probably one of the easiest I've ever done in my life. Like literally push the power button on the G C two and push tap one button in the top right corner of the of the app once you're locked even if you're not logged in, I think you can connect to it too. It it was literally like within ten seconds. I was connected. I never once had a connection drop. ⁓ if you're going the PC route, you can get Ethernet connection or a wireless connection. ⁓ so that is something certainly that's advantageous for some people who really prefer that that corded connection to the launch monitor. ⁓ but overall, yeah. I mean, I I had a very similar experience, like kind of playing around with the ⁓ with the hitting zone. And like we kind of talked and forth, ⁓ talked back and forth a little bit. And I don't think you you covered this a few minutes ago, but ⁓ You if you have a five by five hitting mat, it might seriously dictate how you position that G C two, whether that needs to be off the mat or and this is really any foresight product, I I think. ⁓ but once you get into those longer clubs, it's gonna be tough to stand on a five by five hitting mat and use the G C two. So, ⁓ may have to look at that in certain types of setups and it might change a little bit about setup type. ⁓ but just something to be aware of. You know, I d I don't think that's something that's that's you know, being critical with the device. I think that's just the device's constraints. And like you said, yeah, it's a smaller hitting area, but you know, it's still pretty good size. It's still pretty much in the norm for for most launch monitors. I mean, most launch monitors are kind of like a one foot diameter circle. That's kind of the accepted range. ⁓ but overall, yeah, I mean I'm I'm really impressed and ⁓ you know, really eager to kind of try it with with PC software stuff. ⁓ Yeah. You know, especially with the new stuff that they've got coming forward. And maybe that's a good time to kind of push into that portion of our episode too. Certainly. well I'll just ⁓ just ⁓ kind of transition to that point. ⁓ piggying back ⁓ piggybacking off of your point of the ease of connection to the app, which I agree, it could not be easier. ⁓ the same exact thing connecting to the PC software. So I went ahead and did it wirelessly. ⁓ the G C two emits a Wi Fi signal that you you simply hop on that network on your on your PC and it is s stupid simple. I mean it's ⁓ not only that but then every time thereafter, ⁓ it as soon as you you get onto that ⁓ network, of course if you set it to remember the password, ⁓ it's the connection happens automatically. ⁓ everything happens automatically. You launch the software and you're and you're rolling. That that part of it ⁓ really does go ⁓ very, very smooth. ⁓ Now, as far as that that software, ⁓ the first comment that I have is so so Foresight's rolling out what they call Foresight ⁓ Premiere. And this is ⁓ an entirely new sim platform. This includes all of their practice features, their virtual driving ranges, their challenges, their ⁓ their drills, but then also all of their their simulated courses. And this is replacing what used to be kind of a ⁓ hodgepodge of multiple pieces of software that all kind of worked in concert. ⁓ so you had FSX play, you had FSX twenty twenty, you had FSX Pro. ⁓ all of those things led to a lot of consumer confusion and and a little bit of frustration as you're jumping around ⁓ between the those pieces of software. They very smartly have consolidated everything into Foresight Premier and I have to say, aesthetically in a s and usability wise, and especially these golf courses that they have, ⁓ it's stunning. The golf courses, especially what they're calling the remastered courses, ⁓ and these are some of the biggest name courses, are graphically just gorgeous. ⁓ now, full disclosure for me, ⁓ there was a known glitch, we were testing this of course before the launch, ⁓ where I could I could launch the software and I could look around, And I could pan around on the first T-Box and I could do a first wall flyover. ⁓ when I connected to the GC2, I was not able to, interestingly, I was not able to play on the golf courses. I could still use the virtual ranges, all the drills, all the other things in the software. So that was a little interesting and kind of frustrating. Contacted Foresight, they acknowledged that they were aware that this was an issue. They've they were encountering that themselves. I'm sure all of that will be smoothed over for the initial user. ⁓ so I don't think that's something to bring up as a concern, ⁓ but just as a disclosure that I could not play the golf courses. But what I could do is see the golf courses and I was blown away. ⁓ Daniel, I know you also got a a a good look at that stuff when they teased it at the PGA show. ⁓ what were your impressions? Yeah, so we we actually got a play ⁓ a hole at Pebble Beach ⁓ during the PGA show. They they were kind of like you said, they were teasing this software and and expecting it to come out later ⁓ in 2026, which we're now in that time frame. but like it it was really impressive. Not only aesthetically pleasing, but also like just the ball physics and the feel of how the golf ball was flying through the air felt more realistic even just as simple as the ball like landing on the green out of hit maybe even hitting out of a sand trap or chipping on finesse shots around the green, the way the golf ball reacted to the green felt way more realistic than probably any software that I've used. ⁓ now obviously settings are important and and how you set the golf course up and and the firmness and everything are obviously play into that even with other softwares. ⁓ but for me, I I really found it to be one of the most realistic and impressive softwares that we've We've seen. we tested it with the Falcon. They had it hooked up with a Falcon. but even so, like all of ⁓ everything being pushed into one app is is super impressive. It does still it's gonna be, you know, a gaming PC to run this type of software. It's not gonna be tablet capable. If you just want the driving range stuff, totally tablet capable. I mean, you could still use the Foresight app to to get into the driving range and ⁓ and get those sessions for when you're outdoors. But course play wise, like Man, it's it's so impressively visually pleasing, like you said. It it really does kind of just take make you take a step back and say, okay, we've got a real competitor now, I think, ⁓ for GS Pro or even like the trackman performance software. I think like now these three are kind of like your big players as far as as the best software that's out there. Right. And also another kind of point on that, you know, FSX play was a great ⁓ was great software in some of those courses. ⁓ look really outstanding and include a lot of detail. But you also notice that there's a big difference between their their kind of premium courses and their more run of the mill courses. And ⁓ when it comes to detail and just graphic fidelity, ⁓ what I was noticing in looking through these these new premiere courses is that the remastered courses, the big show pieces, the the Pebble Beach, the ⁓ the Royal Troon, the Beth Page Black, ⁓ Quail Hollow, some of those courses, ⁓ were stunning. And I mean, I'm talking all of the details down to the cart barn and the carts parked outside of it and and just the what's going on around the perimeter of the clubhouse, all of those details ⁓ were really, really impressive. But what I also noticed was I fired up just for the curiosity, ⁓ some relatively speaking no name courses. Like I pulled up a course ⁓ near and dear to your ⁓ your native Iowa Hearts and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ⁓ just to see what it might look like. And I have to say, I was like, wow, if this is the the the non kind of frontline golf course experience, this is pretty outstanding. It's it's very outstanding. So ⁓ you know, there's a lot to be really, really excited about. ⁓ I think we're going to end up talking here about maybe ⁓ as we get into subscriptions, how this all plays into ⁓ comparing to things like GS Pro and the pros and cons. But the point here is that the new software, aside from the price of it, which we're gonna get to in a moment, the software itself I found to be very, very impressive. I will say that in my experience, the practice tools that are available to you, they're nice and there's some good stuff there. You've got a really nice shot tracer, you've got a really nice looking virtual range, you've got some nice drills, they're customizable. You know, I can choose kind of how I want to practice with a certain club relative to carry distance and and and setting up targets and those kinds of things, ladder drills, those kinds of things. It's nice, but I do think that for a brand new product, brand new software product, the practice side of it to me is a little bit thin when I compare it to something like the SkyTrack ⁓ ecosystem that just includes so many options to gamify your practice, or something like the awesome golf software, which I know is more cartoonish, ⁓ but Still, again, just so many gamifying options, just kind of many much more creative than this is. This is a lot more straightforward. So in my estimation, here the golf courses are the star of the show, and the practice side of this software is more of the supporting act. But overall, I rate the new software, the premiere software, as a huge win and a big step forward for Foresight, and also a nice simplification of everything. Now we're under one. ⁓ one under one roof under one umbrella. Now that said, ⁓ that's not how everybody's receiving this. ⁓ because the problem with all of this is that ⁓ Foresight is changing their entire pricing model. And ⁓ a company that had been no subscriptions, then dabbled in subscriptions for a brief while with the GC3S and then went back to no subscriptions is now going all subscriptions. ⁓ Daniel, let's get into that. ⁓ I know this has been ⁓ frustrating for a lot of people and I think we both agree that people have good reason. ⁓ current owners or people that had bought into this ecosystem previously, they have good reason ⁓ to to be a little bit miffed and a little bit frustrated. Let's let's kind of walk into some of that. Yeah, totally. ⁓ and it's it's just pr you know feedback that we've received here at Play Better, it's feedback we've seen online through user forums and stuff. And, you know, honestly, the initial reaction is ⁓ you know, frustrating for certain users. ⁓ you know, they they maybe purchase a device they thought they'd never pay a subscription on. Things change, things evolve. one important thing to note that is if if you are a current Foresight owner, ⁓ and you have the FSX play, FSX Pro, you know, those software, basically the FSX ecosystem, you'll still be able to continue using that. So they're not shutting the doors. They're not turning the servers off or any of that stuff. Now that software is unlikely to do any further advancement. You know, they're not going to keep doing, you know, software updates and adding courses and things like that to that that side of the software. But it's still there. So you can still use it. So if you're a foresight owner and you have no interest in this premium software and paying subscriptions, you're not going to be required to. So that's I think that's something to be important there. They're not forcing you to do this. ⁓ But if you want to, you're gonna have to pay for a subscription. ⁓ and you're gonna have to pay for a few of them if you want to play golf courses. So ⁓ they've basically separated their subscription opportunities. So they still have ⁓ what's called their gold and silver packages, and this is through their Foresight Plus subscription. So the silver package basically gets you into the ecosystem, right? It allows you to buy the separate. Course package subscription. ⁓ it allows you to get into some access of the software, and then they have the gold subscription, which is now going to unlock third again, unlock third party access. It's gonna unlock all of the capabilities basically within the devices. That previously was $4.99 a year. Now that's $599 a year for the gold subscription. ⁓ the silver package. is still $199 a year. That's going to get you the unlimited data history, dispersion on the screen, ⁓ drills, challenges, eligibility for course pass, like we said. If you want the gold, that's where you get into club comparisons, advanced and analytics, ⁓ third party integration, and then the ability to capture a swing video ⁓ with with your swings. So ⁓ once you kind of decide beside ⁓ you know silver or gold, Then you have to choose your course subscription. So previously you would get courses with those gold and silver subscriptions. I believe the silver subscription was five courses and the gold was like 35 plus. There's a few rotating in there here and there. Now by the way, and just quick interruption, Danielle, we were talking about Launch Pro customers there, right? I mean, so ⁓ GC three customers. Right. Yep. Just to clarify. Yep. Yes, sorry. So yeah, this this will apply to GC two owners basically. ⁓ GC three owners ⁓ previously never had to pay this. Right. Now you're gonna be required to pay this Foresight Plus subscription. And then you'll also be required if you want to play in the in the new F ⁓ the Foresight Premier software, you'll also need a course pass subscription. Okay. So there's two separate course pass subscriptions. ⁓ There is the standard CoursePass, which has 35 courses. It's $295 a year. You then have the CoursePass Pro, which is $595 a year, and their full current library of 111 courses. So that means as a GC3, as a GC quad, Falcon, ⁓ Bushnell Launch Pro, realistically moving forward, anybody who uses the Foresight platform. Your annual fees are now going to be anywhere between four hundred and ninety-four dollars up to almost twelve hundred dollars, ⁓ depending what you want out of the system. So this has, in my opinion, really turned into, you know, maybe what some people would call a rich man's game. But from my understanding, Foresight is really leaning into being a premier product and being no pun intended there ⁓ with the software name. ⁓ but just being more of a ⁓ premium level product and a premium level subscription. ⁓ and it feels like they're kind of just drawing a line in the sand and saying, you know, we have great products. We now have really great software. And there's just going to be some cost associated with that, which is going to rub rub some people the wrong way. But I think it's also going to excite some people who are current users as well as prospective ones that, you know, this is really maybe, maybe the best of the best that could be out there once it's all said and done. Yeah. Yeah, great breakdown. ⁓ I'm with you. It it it starts to feel a little bit steep. ⁓ you know, when we when we talk about first of all, stacking subscriptions, having two subscriptions on top of each other, that's just gonna piss people off right off the bat. And and it has. ⁓ you know, current users, ⁓ w we feel, yeah, I mean that that that's ⁓ feels it can feel a little bit like a bait and switch. ⁓ as Daniel pointed out, you do still get all of the access that you had already, but let's face it. That's no longer gonna be improved. ⁓ we're we hope at best that it's gonna continue to be ⁓ supported and debugged, ⁓ that you'll still be able to enjoy using that software. ⁓ if you do want to access this new software, which you don't have to, ⁓ but if you did want to, you get a what they're calling a loyalty deal where you get a a three 30-day free trial, and then I believe you get fifty percent off of ⁓ two years ⁓ of of the new subscription model. So you get a ⁓ you get half price for a couple of years. ⁓ maybe that's maybe that's a appealing to some people, maybe other people that just kind of further pokes their their ire on this. ⁓ I don't know. I I do think that GC3 buyers who paid for something that they felt was going to be a lifetime of no subscriptions and a unit that was built to last. That one of the reasons they bought it was they knew that physically this thing was gonna hold up. I I I'm just gonna go all in on it and be done once. I'm paying a premium price, but I'm gonna have it for years and years and be able to enjoy this. And as they continue to make improvements, I'll have access to that as well. ⁓ they have a fair grievance. They have a fair grievance. ⁓ on the other hand, ⁓ companies do evolve and things do change and nothing is forever. ⁓ and so it's a it's a tough one. ⁓ Yeah. You know, and I think I think the as we look at the price to this, ⁓ I do feel that the software, the course the courses that you're getting here ⁓ are outstanding enough. ⁓ the practice features ⁓ and the graphic fidelity of all of it and the usability of all of it is good enough to be very comfortable living exclusively in this ecosystem. The problem is is that so many sim golfers want access to GS Pro. It's just undeniably the most popular of the platforms. It has the most the most golf courses, ⁓ far more than than ⁓ than what this list includes. ⁓ but now to access it via a Foresight device, you're looking at a minimum of eight hundred and fifty dollars a year. ⁓ because you're going to have to pay for that silver subscription, or excuse me, the gold subscription at six hundred, and then you're gonna have to pay the two hundred and fifty dollars a year to ⁓ GS Pro. ⁓ You know, that's gonna be a turn off for a lot of people and a reason that a lot of people choose a different device. ⁓ what about Daniel existing G C three owners who already had access to third party like GS Pro? What happens to them? Yeah, so there there is, you know, like you said, there there is some ⁓ you know, leniency baked in here a little bit for current owners. ⁓ and it's not just GC three, it's really anybody who had unlocked access to FSX ecosystem. So basically anybody who bought an unlocked GC three, a GC quad, a quad max, a Falcon, even ⁓ previous models, I believe, even all the way back to maybe like a GC Hawk, ⁓ could potentially be in this as well. ⁓ but basically if you've already had the unlocked FSX ecosystem, You are still gonna be able to get that third-party access without buying an additional subscription. So if you own a GC three and you bought the GC three so that way you could play GS Pro for just the $250 a year, you're gonna continue to be able to do that. They're they're not gonna charge you the Foresight Plus membership. New buyers, however, are gonna are gonna see that basically that hurdle they have to jump to get into it. So There is still a little bit of ⁓ difference between when you bought the product and and who knows. I mean, these things could they they could change how this is this is done too. ⁓ you never know. I mean, thing things could change and they could change it next year to something different. That's kind of the the beauty and the beast of paying software subscriptions is that it it's never ⁓ it's never constant. It it could evolve, it could change, it could bit get better, it could get, you know, more expensive, you know. So there that's kind of just the The situation with software subscriptions. But overall, they have thought of existing users. They've they've they've added some options there. Now, not every customer has been accepting of that. ⁓ you know, we've fielded some calls of people wanting to maybe even potentially change devices ⁓ because they don't want that steep yearly fee, which I totally understand. ⁓ there's been a lot of calls of people calling in just simply confused on. on what's going on here. So ⁓ I think our biggest message here is that ⁓ you know, we we try to break this down as best we can. But if you still have questions, give us a call. ⁓ give Foresight a call. You know, we're all here to help you and help break it down. So that way it's not confusing. I mean, we've even had Skytrack customers because they have the Foresight course play thinking, ⁓ my gosh, I'm gonna be get charged all these special fees. Like this this is only pertaining to Foresight and Bushnell Launch Pro customers. So If you are a Sky Track owner, please don't panic. ⁓ you're not you're not gonna have a huge influx of of change of subscription from Foresight here. ⁓ but just to kind of maybe make everyone aware, like this has had ripples throughout ⁓ everybody who owns a Foresight device or even has it attached there, that if you're confused, you're not alone, you know, give give us a call. We can we can help break it down for you so that way you don't feel like like it is such a an overwhelming change of of options here. The other thing I think that we need to mention too, which I don't think we did, ⁓ for those Bushnell Launch Pro users who are out there and you do have an active gold subscription, maybe it did maybe you just renewed it a couple months ago or eight months ago, you've already been transitioned into the new gold subscription. You're not charged anything additional, they've transitioned you to the new gold subscription when you're up for renewal. It is likely to be that new membership price. Maybe they've given you a a a legacy deal within that. ⁓ again, something that you can you can look into, but just know that because they change in the middle of your subscription, you're not getting charged more right now, but you're getting all of the new features already. Yeah. Very well said. Awesome breakdown. I think you're I think you nailed it. I think the the biggest pain point here for a lot of people, ⁓ certainly for us as well initially, was is just confusion. You know, trying to And that's been a problem for Foresight and Bushnell for a long time now, really, to be fair about it, is a lot of moving pieces, a lot of continuous adjustment to the pricing, ⁓ a lot of ⁓ start and stop on what these products are and how they relate to each other. And so I do think that we're now working towards a little bit more stability. ⁓ and that ultimately is going to be a good thing. ⁓ but it's gonna ruffle some feathers along the way, that's for sure. ⁓ Let's jump back to the hardware to close it out. the GC2, kind of the focal point of what we're talking about today, the real piece of news here, ⁓ the brand new product from Foresight. ⁓ the obvious comparison, Daniel, to me, just when we look at the price, $16.99 ⁓ for the new GC2, ⁓ what jumps to mind for a lot of us is the Square Omni. ⁓ let's briefly kind of walk through who might buy a GC2. versus an omni. Your thoughts? Yeah, I think it kind of ties both of our conversations together a little bit today. ⁓ you know, when you pair GC two and the and the new premier software, like if you're okay with the annual fees, man, it's i I still find it I would probably find it tough to pick the omni because the software is just so impressive in comparison. now when you peel back the layers and really look at things and if you're a person who really wants club data and wants impact location and maybe wants to be a little more analytical. the GC2 is going to be a really tough choice with really any launch monitor that's capable of simulation under the $2,000 price point. ⁓ because virtually almost every device ⁓ under that price is ⁓ is club data capable and has some club data with it. so I do think the target market here is pretty small. But yeah, obviously the the biggest comparison is definitely Square Golf. ⁓ I think like you said, you have to factor in the software. You have to factor in if you're gonna be a GS Pro person. If you're a if you're like, hey, I'm buying this solely for GS Pro, then I I think it's a no brainer. You kind of go square omni or maybe something a little better integrated. but overall, yeah, I I think they're very comparable devices and I'm kind of interested to see how they they jockey for position. I also think you could look at even though they're indoor only options. Like I think the GC two is a really good comparison to the Unicore i Mini and even the i Mini Core. We don't sell that one, but it's it's a lighter even device that it's mostly ball data only. So I think like those are really good comparisons as far as camera data goes. I don't know what your thoughts are on on that type of comparison too. Yeah. I I guess I wanted to drill down more on the Omni. I think that is a great comparison to compare it to the I to the i mini light, to the ⁓ the Bushnell LPI, ⁓ some of those other comparisons. When I look though at the price and I see $16.99, I think Square and Omni, and I think, boy, the Omni gives you four cameras. There are no subscriptions. ⁓ and just like you just said, if you're if your your plan is to use GS Pro exclusively, you might not care about the native Square software. You know, and so you might be con content to do all of your practicing and playing within GS Pro. Well, now you've got a one-time cost with the Omni and then just $250 a year to pay into GS Pro. ⁓ that compared to the elaborate pricing that we just mentioned to get to the SIM golf level via the GC2. However, a couple of points to to throw in there. ⁓ again, hearkening back to the build quality and the known quantity and known track record of foresight. The GC2, I'm I'm damn well willing to bet that that thing is gonna be working and working strong in five years, potentially in 10 years. ⁓ the Square Omni, that is much more of a question mark to me. ⁓ especially if you are keeping it out in more extreme conditions, if you are bringing it out to direct sunlight. ⁓ I don't know that they've made their own camera ⁓ lens housing. I don't know if they've ⁓ gone through that kind of stringent ⁓ QC process to make sure that this thing is essentially bulletproof. ⁓ I do know that about the GC two. And so if you want to remove the doubt and you want to remove any of the anxiety about the quality of the product that you're buying, there I think is where the Foresight GC two becomes very, very attractive. And that goes hand in hand with the type of user that might be interested in it, the person that really wants the utmost quality and wants To never have to doubt the data. They don't want to doubt the numbers. With the GC2, I don't think you're ever going to have to doubt the numbers. And with the Square Omni, ⁓ I think that it's extremely accurate. I just wonder how how accurate it will continue to be down the road. We don't yet know. ⁓ and then of course the other thing would be availability. So, you know, that an omni is is a much harder to get. Now, ⁓ the GC2, I think, is initially going to be allocated to ⁓ the retailers retailers that are going to sell it. So there may be some initial period where ⁓ not everybody can get it immediately. ⁓ but I think it's fair to say ⁓ and easy to predict that it's going to be much easier to get a GC2 and you're going to have to wait a lot less time than if you want to square Omni. And so those are just ⁓ those are just points to points to consider. But the Omni consid continues to be a huge disruptor not just for Foresight but for the entire industry. ⁓ for them to bring a sub-2,000 ⁓ photometric launch monitor that does all the club data that is four cameras, ⁓ people are having a hard time competing against that. ⁓ and so ⁓ that's probably gonna continue to be the case. And so if you're somebody that's willing to take a shot on a little something a little lesser known, ⁓ that represents a really, really good deal. ⁓ Daniel, let's ⁓ let's boil it down to ⁓ if you had one specific type of golfer that you could recommend the GC two, who would that be? I I think it's somebody who wants a golf simulator that's insanely accurate without a ton of maybe upfront costs, ⁓ doesn't care about annual fees and they they just want the best software that they can probably get with the best accuracy. ⁓ then th this is probably the product for them. ⁓ like I said, I I was I was pretty against the product, honestly. When I first saw it and heard about it, I thought, man, there's nothing you can do with a ball data only device, you know. And once I carried it around and used it and saw how portable it was, it was kinda like, okay, I c I can see where there there's definitely some target market here. And ⁓ so I I totally think it's it's definitely gonna be a a popular option for people getting their first golf sim. They want it that tour level accuracy with the foresight product. and and wanting that new premier software. So if you want to get into premier software, this is going to be the easiest way to get into it. ⁓ if again, if you're not a data head. And honestly, we didn't mention this at all, but if you hate club stickers, you don't have to use club stickers with this one. ⁓ because you don't get any club data. But yeah ⁓ something just to keep in mind. And Daniel also I just don't want to pick your brain very quickly on this point. Ball data only. So obviously that's very limited and that strikes people initially as like, well, whoa, I'm missing all the club data. I don't know the face angle. I don't know the club path. Let's just talk very quickly about what core data really is and how really at the end of the day, even though this is limited to eight metrics, are these the most important eight metrics for most amateur golfers? Yeah, they probably are. ⁓ especially when we're talking about just understanding ⁓ distance, launch, and spin. ⁓ I mean that that's enough to to fit people for certain golf clubs in its own. So yeah, yeah, I mean, people fall in love with face and path. ⁓ that's kind of the the narrative of launch monitors in maybe the last four or five years is getting a monitor that has face and path because I have to know face and path. Most people don't even hit the golf ball in the center of the club face, so they shouldn't even be worrying about face or path to begin with. ⁓ so I yeah, I think it's totally the core data that you really need to work on your golf game. ⁓ is it for a golf instructor? Probably not. ⁓ is it for ⁓ an actual club fitter? Probably not. ⁓ but for a user who wants a a super accurate ⁓ simulator and then the ability to take that to the range and and get carry distances and launch angles and spin rates, I mean it's it's perfect. It's I mean you you want that tour trusted device and you don't want to pay a premium for that exact device. Th this is the perfect device for you. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I think there's a lot of users that even if they think they want all the club data, they probably aren't paying attention to it even if they have it, or they may have a hard time understanding it, or they're not consistently looking at it, or just as you said, they can't repeatedly hit the shots consistently enough. I know I'm one of those that ⁓ to take full advantage of the bit the full picture, even if they did have it. ⁓ not to mention that this data here is all you need to be able to play simulator golf. That's giving the ⁓ sim software all the information it needs to replicate the ball flight. And so again, if you want the unassailable, the irrefutable, ⁓ best data quality with the most important numbers, well this becomes the least expensive way to get it. And the problem remains that to get everything, to play sim golf with it and to have the full experience, ⁓ for some people there's going to be some sticker shock. And I think that's a very fair reaction. So anything ⁓ that we haven't covered, Danielle, before we jump out of here? I don't think so. ⁓ you know, I like it, like we've talked about, I think it's you know, while there's some frustration, ⁓ and maybe some some ⁓ ripping the band aid off type of feel. overall it's a really exciting week for for the Foresight team and for us at Play Better. ⁓ new hardware, new software. again, it it's just an exciting time. And I think overall, like Once the initial shock, I think, wears off of the cost of the software, I think that it's gonna end up being wildly successful for him. Cause like you and me have experienced, like it it really is one of the most visually appealing and one of the the best feel of playing a round of golf on a golf simulator that I've personally had. So I I do think that overall, like both of these are gonna be successful. It's just gonna take some time to maybe wear the shock of the pricing of everything off of everybody is all. Great summary. Let us know what you think. Drop us a comment. Love it, hate it. More questions about it. ⁓ We want to know the GC2, the new software for those who have had a chance to use it, and of course, the pricing models. Let us know what you think.
