- 0:03MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 0:06channel by watching and listening.
- 0:11Welcome to Veteran Talk with Magic Mike, where what's
- 0:14important to you is important to us.
- 0:18Let's talk. I'm your host, Magic Mike, and
- 0:21today we're diving deep into something close to my heart, how
- 0:26sharing your story and getting behind the mic can be a powerful
- 0:29form of rehabilitation. Whether you're fresh out of
- 0:32service, years into civilian life, or somewhere in between,
- 0:36We've got a space for you here because everyone has a story,
- 0:39and broadcasting is how we tell it.
- 0:44Hey everybody, welcome to Veterans Talk on military
- 0:47broadcast radio with yours truly DJ Magic Mic.
- 0:49I am absolutely in awe over what's been going on the last
- 0:56couple weeks with the whole Take Care of Veterans Act and in the
- 1:01lack of understanding. I guess, you know, here I am
- 1:06just a regular old veteran who is a combat injured veteran.
- 1:09And I took the last week and a half to two weeks to actually
- 1:16dive into it and figure it out and figure out what they were
- 1:19talking about. And it's just a common sense,
- 1:21Bill. It really is.
- 1:22So, but before we get in that and dig in, I just like to thank
- 1:25everybody out there that's watching me, everybody who is
- 1:28listening to me. I appreciate each and everyone
- 1:30of you. And I know this is going to be a
- 1:32long journey, but if you have any questions or anything, feel
- 1:35free to call in at 720-619-0627 or you can hit us on the live
- 1:41stream or in the chat or Facebook or wherever else that
- 1:45I'm at TikTok or whatever be it. I know that this has been a very
- 1:49difficult time for everybody and it is very, very, very, very
- 1:54confusing what is going on. So I am going to dive in and
- 1:58talk about the Major Richard Starr Act, the Love Lives On and
- 2:02all these other different things were all kind of put into this
- 2:05big beautiful bill called Take Care of Veterans Act.
- 2:09Now before I dive in, a big shout out to H train.
- 2:13I know he's under the weather. So I love you, brother.
- 2:16I hope you're feeling better. Battle buddy check, check on
- 2:19your battle buddies when you guys are out there and and stuff
- 2:22like that. And to everybody else, you know,
- 2:23John, and on on the radio show and everybody else who's helped
- 2:28me to perfect this, I guess, and who's out there listening and,
- 2:32and taking care of me, I, I again, I appreciate it.
- 2:35So without further ado, I just wanted to jump in.
- 2:38So if you guys haven't heard already, the take care of
- 2:40veterans Act was unanimously yade.
- 2:45So the Democrats and Republicans both 155 to 147 votes, all said
- 2:50yes, that's 303 to move it forward, right?
- 2:54So the next part of that and how that works is that the bill is
- 2:58then pushed on to to a possible vote to move forward for a vote.
- 3:03But Mike Johnson, who is the speaker of the House, said,
- 3:08let's put a pause on that. There's too much going on and
- 3:11too many people don't understand the bill and let's send it back.
- 3:15I don't think you guys realize what was done when when that
- 3:20happened. I mean, it is catastrophically
- 3:22by far one of the most horrible things that we could have done
- 3:27to our veterans. So I'm going to put my
- 3:28headphones on because I feel like there might be an echo, but
- 3:31I'd really like to hear your thoughts and stuff.
- 3:33So, so here we are. So one of the things that really
- 3:37bothers me with this is the Take care of Veterans Act, right?
- 3:41What is it? And we'll dive into that right
- 3:43away almost and see what that is all about and what it, what it
- 3:46entails and, and who it entails and what who it benefits, right?
- 3:50Here's something that is really, really heartbreaking and
- 3:53nerving. And I'll just tell you just just
- 3:55off the top of the head where it came from, right?
- 3:58So where we're at rather. And then we'll kind of digest
- 4:00into the actual HR 9237, which is the Taking Care of Veterans
- 4:05Act and Section one O 8, which everybody's just hell bent on
- 4:09about tinnitus and sleep apnea. And we'll just dive in.
- 4:14Listen, this is not a reflection of MBR military broadcast radio
- 4:17or anybody at MBR. This is only my personal view as
- 4:21a combat veteran who this bill takes care of one, just one of
- 4:26the people this bill took care would have taken care of had it
- 4:28been passed. So the House actually sidelined
- 4:32the bill today. So because of the controversy of
- 4:35the VFW against the American, I mean, these are organizations
- 4:38that have been around for a while, right?
- 4:40And you're supposed to have the best interest of the veterans,
- 4:43right? So it says I, I guess the
- 4:47biggest way, and I'm just so hyped on this and everything is
- 4:50everybody's acting like they're taking money away from veterans.
- 4:53OK, First and foremost, nobody's taking any money away from
- 4:55veterans. Nobody there.
- 4:57There's nobody going back and going, well, if you have sleep
- 4:59apnea, we're going to take that away from you.
- 5:00If you have tonight as we're going to take that away.
- 5:02That is a misconception that is misleading and that is totally a
- 5:05false narrative that every single one of your organizations
- 5:08that are preaching that IVA, VFW, all of you guys that are
- 5:12preaching that, oh, it's going to take away from veterans.
- 5:14You guys are horrible, horrible. I think each and every one of
- 5:17you should lose your positions immediately.
- 5:19I mean, I, I've never seen so much just just misinformation
- 5:26dealt out. It's unbelievable.
- 5:28So anyways, the the House House Republicans they just pulled,
- 5:34they pulled a controversial veterans measure after it
- 5:37narrowly defeated a Democrat LED effort to force massive
- 5:40revisions to the proposal. So Speaker Mike Johnson blamed
- 5:43the misinformation about Take Care of Veterans Act for the
- 5:46decision and said the measure will be delayed for several
- 5:48weeks while leadership considers next steps.
- 5:51The Republicans defeated a motion to recommit the bill by a
- 5:55211 to 210 vote after lobbying Republican defectors for nearly
- 6:0030 minutes. So a heated conversation
- 6:03unfolded in the speaker's ceremonial office as GOP leaders
- 6:07try to whip with whip holdouts on the bill, according to four
- 6:12people with direct knowledge of the matter.
- 6:13Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:14OK, so there's a lot of people fighting about this, right?
- 6:18So if you go online, you'll see that there is fighting that's
- 6:21going on between the VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars and the
- 6:30I I got I got H train in here trying to fix my camera.
- 6:33Try to fix it again, buddy. I have no idea what I'm doing.
- 6:38He said I'm trying I'm trying to fix your camera but I can't.
- 6:40All right, so I got H train in here trying to fix my camera.
- 6:43If you can hear me H train trying to fix my camera again,
- 6:46please. But I sound good.
- 6:50Fix my camera man. Come back and fix my camera.
- 6:52Anyway, I got H train saying that he tried to fix my camera
- 6:54but it didn't work. So I don't I don't know what's
- 6:56going on anyway, I don't think my camera looks pretty good to
- 7:01me anyway. Maybe I just look bad for the
- 7:03camera. So anyways, back to what I was
- 7:07saying. So one of the important things
- 7:09is, is that in the taking care of Veterans Act, right?
- 7:14It is truly one of the most comprehensive bills.
- 7:19It's it's almost a bill that that would have taken care of
- 7:23veterans. It is all the way across the
- 7:25board. So to dive in a little bit of
- 7:28the taking care of veterans Act. And what the big deal is is that
- 7:31the VFW is so hell bent and the IVA, which is Iraq and
- 7:35Afghanistan Veterans of America. Thanks H Train for fixing my
- 7:37camera. So the take care of of a
- 7:41veterans act that the VFW veterans of foreign wars and the
- 7:47and shame on you guys, man, shame on you.
- 7:49I've I've watched your statements.
- 7:51It's it's so it's so ignorant of you guys to sit here and and say
- 7:56that this bill would take take away stuff from from veterans.
- 8:00So I want to slow it down a little bit.
- 8:03We'll talk about the bill. We'll talk about my opinion.
- 8:05I'll talk about what I dove deep in.
- 8:07This is going to be a long show, guys, so stay with me.
- 8:10I hope that I can I can make it all fit and it makes sense
- 8:13somewhat. So what the bill does was part
- 8:18of the bill would have included the Major Richard Starr Act.
- 8:22So if you've ever followed my show, you know that I talked
- 8:24about the Major Richard Starr Act and how important that is.
- 8:28What is the Major Richard Starr Act?
- 8:29So just to recap on that, that is a bill that has unanimous
- 8:34bipartisan support, but it can't pass because they don't know
- 8:37where they're going to get the money from.
- 8:39And what it does is it reinstates the offset or the
- 8:42combat tax. Now, this is for combat veterans
- 8:45only. If a veteran was injured in
- 8:47combat and was forced to retire from the military under Chapter
- 8:5061. Again, if they were forced to
- 8:54retire before 20 years under Chapter 61 in the military and
- 8:59were injured during combat. So if they receive a CRSC, which
- 9:02is a combat related specialty compensation, which is peanuts
- 9:05by the way, it's usually 600 to 1000.
- 9:07I think it's the Max I've ever seen.
- 9:11They would then this bill would then wipe away that tax, as they
- 9:14call it, a veteran's combat tax, and they would get their
- 9:17retirement, which I think is only fair, right?
- 9:20I mean, if somebody serves in combat like the Jed Morgan, I
- 9:22always put him out there. I'm pretty sure he's tired of me
- 9:24talking about Jed Morgan. Was a Marine, served in the
- 9:27Marine Corps, stepped on a pressure plate, lost both his
- 9:29legs. OK.
- 9:31What is not to say that Jed Morgan was going to do 2025,
- 9:34thirty years in the Marine Corps.
- 9:35What is to say he wasn't? But because he lost both of his
- 9:38legs, he was severely injured. He is now medically retired from
- 9:42the military, right? They forced him out of the
- 9:44military to retire. He is retiree.
- 9:46So what does he get? He gets his ID card, he gets his
- 9:49Tricare for life, but he doesn't get his retirement.
- 9:52You're talking about 2200 bucks, 2300 bucks, something like that,
- 9:56right? I'm just saying for number sake,
- 9:58right? He does not get that money
- 10:00because he didn't do a full 20. Now, now listen up.
- 10:04If you're in the military for 20 years or more and you retire and
- 10:09you go to the VA and you say, hey, I'm injured, I hurt my back
- 10:12from airborne school or my knees are shot or whatever be it, and
- 10:15you are now 100% permanent in total.
- 10:18We'll just, we'll use 100% 'cause I like using that number.
- 10:21If you're 100% permanent in total, you now get both of them.
- 10:24You get your retirement, which is like 29, three thousand,
- 10:275000, whatever it is your rank is that you retired at and you
- 10:31get your 4000 and whatever, whatever money from the VA you
- 10:34get both of them. Hold on.
- 10:36It gets even worse or better if you are the spouse of a loved
- 10:40one that was killed on active duty.
- 10:43It doesn't matter if it was combat.
- 10:45It doesn't matter if it was a traffic accident, doesn't matter
- 10:47if they were on a motorcycle accident.
- 10:48If you are the spouse, husband, wife of somebody who died while
- 10:54on active duty, you get both their retirement and a portion
- 10:58of their VA disability. I'll say that again, if you do
- 11:0320 years in the military and retire and are disabled through
- 11:10the VA, you get both of them, you get both your retirement.
- 11:12So why would you not give that to a combat injured veteran?
- 11:17I'm sorry that that just makes no sense to me.
- 11:20You asked them to go before in a combat zone and they were
- 11:25severely injured and forced to retire.
- 11:27Not at their choice. They didn't say, oh I'd like to
- 11:29retire now. They were forced out of the
- 11:31military to retire. Why would you not give them
- 11:34their retirement? So, so that's what the Major
- 11:38Richard Star Act would do is wipe that away.
- 11:40Now, we had the opportunity to roll the Major Richard Star.
- 11:45And by the way, Major Richard Star Act has been going on for
- 11:47like 5 years. So we had the opportunity to put
- 11:51the Major Richard Star Act into this.
- 11:55I call it the Big beautiful veterans Bill, we'll call it
- 11:58that. I know you guys hate me right
- 11:59now. So we're going to call it the
- 12:00big beautiful veterans bill, right?
- 12:02The big, big, big beautiful bill, the big beautiful veterans
- 12:05bill. They said we're going to put
- 12:07that in there. So they were going to put the
- 12:10Major Richard Starry act, the Love lives on Act, which by the
- 12:15way, that is so important because I have no idea why I
- 12:18don't know who in the right mind even thought of this being being
- 12:22a a law. But the law, the way it's
- 12:24written right now is that if a spouse, husband or wife gets
- 12:30killed while on active duty, they cannot remarry until the
- 12:33age of 55 or 57. If they do, they lose all their
- 12:38benefits. They lose their retirement.
- 12:39The the retirement money they get, the, the Tricare they get
- 12:42and everything they lose all of that, all of that goes away.
- 12:45So you're telling me that a 22 year old whose husband goes off
- 12:50to combat or a 25 year old who's wife goes off to combat, who
- 12:55gets killed in a roadside bomb or gets killed by a mortar
- 13:00attack can never remarry again? Because if they do, they lose
- 13:04all their benefits. So you can never love again.
- 13:06You can never get remarried again, never fall in love again
- 13:09and never start a new family again Because if you do, we're
- 13:12going to take your money away. That's ignorant.
- 13:16So, so, so now we have the Major Richard Starr act, the Love
- 13:20Lives on Act mental health. Listen, I mean, you guys really
- 13:28need to dive deep into this and, and look at this.
- 13:31I mean, this is crazy, absolutely crazy.
- 13:33The amount of stuff that was in this taking care of veterans act
- 13:37was huge. It is so huge.
- 13:40I mean, it, it's bigger than huge.
- 13:41It has to do with mental health. Love lives on extension of
- 13:47increased dependency in in in indemnity compensation.
- 13:52So those people who lost a loved one while on activity, they'll
- 13:55get more money. The last time that was checked
- 13:57was in the 1960s. OK, the Sherry really and Eric
- 14:04Edmondson Veteran Benefit Expansion Act of 2026 claims
- 14:09prohibit Oh OK, claims that are denied solely for certain
- 14:19reasons improve efficiency of adjudications and appeals and do
- 14:23a report on causes of death among veterans.
- 14:27Listen VFW, you should be ashamed of yourself.
- 14:31Seriously, you, you need to worry about all your posts that
- 14:33are closing right now and what you're doing then worrying about
- 14:36this one little one O 8 here. Reforms related to the
- 14:40Department of Federal Affairs, disability raids.
- 14:42That's what you guys, you IVA, Iraq and Afghanistan, veterans
- 14:46of America, the DAV and by the way, I'm a member of all you
- 14:49knuckleheads. I am a life member of each and
- 14:51everyone of you knuckleheads. And you guys sat there and you
- 14:55fought against this bill because of one O 8, section one O 8.
- 14:58And I'll go into details later on into the show about what
- 15:01section one O 8 is, but you guys literally sat there and fought
- 15:04against one section of this bill, negating everything else
- 15:09that was in there. The major richest star act, the
- 15:11Love Lives On Act, the extension of increased dependency DIC is
- 15:14what they call it. OK for short, the Eric Edmondson
- 15:19Veterans Benefit Expansion Act annual report on causes of death
- 15:23among veterans, which I think is absolutely important.
- 15:27Absolutely important. Improvements to temporary
- 15:29licensure requirements for contract healthcare
- 15:32professionals who perform medical disability examinations
- 15:35for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- 15:38Improves, I mean, disability examination study on access in
- 15:41rural areas. Improvements to processing and
- 15:44outreach regarding claims involving military sexual
- 15:47trauma. I'll know you got listen, I read
- 15:49about that one, the sexual trauma, VFW, IVA, all you
- 15:54knuckleheads out there, you guys didn't touch anything on there,
- 15:57but you guys are crying. Tinnitus, Oh my God, sleep
- 16:00apnea. Oh my God, You're going to take
- 16:02that away? Nobody's taking anything away.
- 16:05But you didn't want to talk about the, the, the, the sexual
- 16:07trauma, right? Commander of the VFW.
- 16:10You should be ashamed of yourself.
- 16:11You're a nurse. You are a nurse.
- 16:13And you should know better than this.
- 16:15You guys are shameful. Seriously shameful.
- 16:18Independent assessment of notices that the Secretary of
- 16:21Veterans Affairs sends to claimants.
- 16:23Independent assessments of forms that the Secretary of Veterans
- 16:26Affairs sentence to claimants. Education economic
- 16:29opportunities. This is all in that bill that's
- 16:32Opportunity Act improves the process for making payments to
- 16:35automobile sellers for automobiles purchase for certain
- 16:38disabled veterans. Really.
- 16:42Monthly housing stipend under the post 9/11 Educational
- 16:44Assistance Program for individuals who pursue summer
- 16:48programs of education solely through distant learning.
- 16:52And it goes on and on. Clarification regarding
- 16:54inclusion of medically necessary automobile adaptations, digital
- 16:59communications, improvements to transition assistance programs,
- 17:03transition assistance programs, presentations, I mean listen.
- 17:06Elimination of requirement that on campus education and
- 17:11vocational counseling is provided.
- 17:13Expansion of entitlement for payment for licensing or
- 17:16certification tests for veterans entitled to education
- 17:19assistance. So somebody who wants to go get
- 17:20their license to be a mechanic, all of that, that was all that
- 17:23was that's all in this taking care of veterans act veterans
- 17:27caregiver Act veterans TBI breakthrough exploration of
- 17:32adaptive care opportunities nationwide.
- 17:34Department of Veterans Affairs assessment for travel physicians
- 17:37to serve territories that are like likely not frequented,
- 17:42right? So if you live out in the middle
- 17:44of nowhere, inclusion of adaptive prosthetics,
- 17:47modifications and reauthorization.
- 17:49Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant
- 17:51Program. Oh, but you guys didn't talk
- 17:55about that. A commander VFW.
- 17:56Yeah, you didn't talk about that.
- 17:58You're a nurse, right? I'm a nurse and I serve and I'm
- 18:01a combat veteran. But you didn't talk about that.
- 18:04You didn't talk about the suicide prevention that's
- 18:05written in there. All you cared about was the
- 18:07tinnitus and the sleep apnea, right?
- 18:09For future veterans for people who are still serving in the
- 18:12military are going to serve in the military.
- 18:14That's what you were worried about.
- 18:15You guys killed this bill on was that and we're going to dive
- 18:19into that Furnishing of certain health services to veterans in
- 18:23their freely associated states. Modification of precision
- 18:27medicine for veteran reporting on suicide by veterans and and
- 18:32and members of the armed forces. I mean this is there's so much
- 18:36in this bill pilot program implementation of a report
- 18:39efforts for the Veterans Affairs appointment scheduling research
- 18:43related to menopause pre menopause and midlife Women's
- 18:47Health women. You guys should be all upset
- 18:49over this. I'm seriously veterans spinal
- 18:51trauma, access to new devices, bow and bladder authorization of
- 18:56appropriation of office of information establishment under
- 18:59the secretary of management and chief financial officer.
- 19:01It goes on listen, the the list is goes on and on and on and on
- 19:06and on and on and on. Listen, I could sit here all day
- 19:09and talk about what was in this beautiful bill.
- 19:12Seriously, I could I could talk about everything that was in
- 19:15this bill. But you know what, you guys want
- 19:18to sit there and shoot it down. The VFW literally a long with
- 19:24the DAV and IVA and other organizations that are that are
- 19:28out there literally fought this bill and said it's taken away
- 19:31from veterans, taken away from veterans.
- 19:37So we're going to talk about that.
- 19:39What would it be or what would mislead or lead somebody to
- 19:42listen, the VFW is a huge organization.
- 19:44So is DAV and IVA, right? They're they're, they're big
- 19:47organization. Well, Iva's kind of whatever.
- 19:50Paul, I know you're, you probably never watch this
- 19:52because you never get off your couch anymore, but I, I really
- 19:55don't care. Listen, I, I've met you one time
- 19:57long time ago and you guys were like, whatever.
- 20:00Listen, I got it. These organizations are out
- 20:02there supposed to be helping veterans.
- 20:04Really, if you want to help a veteran, why don't you guys go
- 20:06against the veterans are sitting there and saying.
- 20:09We can help you get 100% VA pension.
- 20:16Pension and compensation is not a welfare system.
- 20:21Stop treating it like that because that's exactly what you
- 20:24guys are doing. You're treating it as a welfare
- 20:26system. It was never meant to be a a
- 20:29free money. Veterans deserve everything they
- 20:34get. You're absolutely right.
- 20:35I'm a veteran, I know combat veteran, I know 100% permanent
- 20:38total. I get it.
- 20:42But listen to me and listen to me on this permanent and total
- 20:48pension and compensation from the VA.
- 20:50Money is not a free service. You have literally military
- 20:56personnel right now. They're still serving in the
- 20:57military. They have a year left, two years
- 20:59left, and they're already 100% before they even get out of the
- 21:03military. You guys are going to bankrupt
- 21:07the VA. You're going to bankrupt this
- 21:08country? Seriously, it's stupid.
- 21:11Oh, but veterans deserve everything they get.
- 21:14OK, so let me ask you a question.
- 21:16They serve four years in an office position, never once see
- 21:20the field, never wore a Kevlar except for when they qualify on
- 21:22the range with a weapon, never been to combat are are non
- 21:26deployable. They get out and they're 100%
- 21:28permanent total because they have carpal tunnel from writing
- 21:31with their pencil. I I know I'm going to catch a
- 21:34lot of Flack for this, but do you think that that's fair?
- 21:39Do you think that that's fair? Because you see, the VA
- 21:42compensation and pension was designed to offset a veteran who
- 21:48gets injured. And I'm going to give you, I'm
- 21:50going to give you a, a, a very generic example.
- 21:54A veteran hurts their back while they're in the military.
- 21:57Doesn't matter how they hurt it. Jump off of a freaking track
- 21:59vehicle, whatever be it play football on active duty, I don't
- 22:03care. They hurt their back airborne.
- 22:05Perfect example. They jump out of an airplane,
- 22:06jump down, they hurt their back, compress their disc, and now
- 22:09they're screwed, right? They get out and they cannot
- 22:14have a normal civilian job, right?
- 22:16They can't be a police officer, they can't be a firefighter,
- 22:19they can't be whatever it is, right?
- 22:21Because they have a compressed disk and they've had operation
- 22:23after operation. They can barely get around and
- 22:25stuff like that, right? The pension and compensation was
- 22:28made for that individual, that veteran to help take care of
- 22:32them because they could not find a, a, a, a, a, a career, if you
- 22:38will. That's what it's designed for.
- 22:41It's not designed for Bob or Josie or whoever it is that gets
- 22:45out of the military and goes, oh, I got a extra $4600 a month
- 22:49and I'm going to go work for the government making $130,000.
- 22:53That is not what it's made for. It is not a welfare.
- 22:58It is not meant for every veteran.
- 23:02Now, let's back this up one step.
- 23:04Medical, absolutely. I think if a veteran serves his
- 23:08obligation in the military, whether it's 2-3 or four years,
- 23:12I think they should get medical no matter what.
- 23:15Ingrown toenail, absolutely. Hernia, absolutely.
- 23:19Nosebleed, 100%. Menopause, 100%.
- 23:22They want to get their freaking tubes tied or whatever, be it.
- 23:24Absolutely. I should say, I think, I think
- 23:25it should be paid for. But compensation and pension or
- 23:29money, Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
- 23:32I think that we're giving that away so quick and so freely.
- 23:35It is making my head spin right now.
- 23:38And because we are becoming a society and I think that this is
- 23:42really important to listen to is that we have become a society
- 23:46now. And if you look at it, you see
- 23:48all, listen, I cannot go 5 seconds on TikTok or Instagram
- 23:53or whatever it is on social media without getting somebody
- 23:56saying, are you 50%? Well, we guarantee you we can
- 23:59get you your 100%. Those people all need to be out
- 24:03of there. Are you serious right now?
- 24:06I mean, you're just as bad as these lawyers saying, oh, you've
- 24:08been in a car accident. I can get you money.
- 24:10Hey, you've been you've been hit by a rock, rock flew, broke your
- 24:13windshield. We can get you money.
- 24:16What are we doing as a society? Our morals are piss poor.
- 24:21Veterans. Veterans used to stand for
- 24:24something. There is no veteran.
- 24:27Listen, in my my era, there's no veteran that stood there and
- 24:29said, man, I can't wait to get out because man, the VA is going
- 24:31to pay me. Nobody ever did that.
- 24:36Nobody did that. There is no veteran that did
- 24:38that. I'm telling you we are live in a
- 24:42society where everything seems like it's pre regulated and free
- 24:46and it's not. We are not free.
- 24:49We have no more morals anymore it seems.
- 24:52Yeah, I read this one post and I'll read it later on from
- 24:55Facebook and it was I, I, I told the guy I go absolutely agree
- 24:57with you 100%. A, a veteran doesn't sit there
- 25:01and go, you owe it to me. No, we took that oath and raised
- 25:05our right hand. It was a volunteer position that
- 25:07we took. Now, nobody knew you were going
- 25:10to get hurt in Iraq or Afghanistan or Djubadi or
- 25:14Djibouti or whatever it is. But for God's sake, you can get
- 25:17PTSD now through the VA 100% from doing war games on a
- 25:24computer because it because it might, it seems so real.
- 25:28You could get PTSD from it. Are you out of your flipping
- 25:30minds? What is going on?
- 25:35I, I'm just at a loss. I, I really am.
- 25:37I'm at a loss. So again, if you're just now
- 25:39joining me, we're talking about the Take Care of Veterans Act
- 25:42that was just shot down completely by organizations.
- 25:45And it, it literally everybody was pit saying that it was
- 25:48pinning veterans against veterans.
- 25:49And listen, first of all, look up the word veteran.
- 25:52What it means if you're on active duty right now, you are
- 25:56not a veteran, you're on active duty.
- 25:59You are a soldier, a Marine, a sailor, a airman, a space force,
- 26:03a Coast Guard, whatever it is, you're on active duty.
- 26:06Look up the word veteran. Look it up.
- 26:10These guys are literally getting out of the military.
- 26:13Listen, I, I belong to a Facebook group called 100%
- 26:16permanent total everyday. Hey, I'm getting ready to get
- 26:19out of the Army. I'm already 100%.
- 26:22What was that? Probably took me 14 years to get
- 26:25100%. Fourteen years.
- 26:29I know people, it took them 35 years to get 100%.
- 26:33These these people are getting out of the military now with
- 26:36100%. Is that good?
- 26:41I'm just confused. I'm really confused on how this
- 26:44is possible. I really AM.
- 26:48I'm going to take a short break, literally a short, short break.
- 26:50We're going to come back. We're going to talk more about
- 26:52the taking care of veterans act on Veterans talk, military
- 26:55broadcast radio ears to GJ Magic Mike and I am going to dive in
- 27:00over the biggest controversy that the VFW and IVA seem to
- 27:04think is like, Oh my God, it's so important you're taking away
- 27:07from veterans and they're just, they are so, so, so lame for
- 27:13saying this, but we'll be right back.
- 27:15We'll take a quick video break. I just, we need to dive into
- 27:19this and we'll be right back. Whenever things get rough or it
- 30:25feels like you're at the edge, remember this storms pass.
- 30:31Tough times don't last, but tough people do.
- 30:40All right, everybody back with yours truly magic on the radio
- 30:44here at military broadcast radio veterans talk and we're talking
- 30:46about the Taking Care of veterans Act that was just
- 30:50absolutely hijacked by the DAV, by IVA, by VFW.
- 30:55And I'm diving deep into it because I, I, I want everybody
- 30:58to understand what, what, what transpired.
- 31:03I mean really, truly what transpired.
- 31:05And I just want to read you guys some some things that that just
- 31:09blow my mind. So one, one of the biggest
- 31:15things is the misconception of what they're arguing about with
- 31:19tinnitus. They're saying you're taking
- 31:21from future veterans. First of all, you're not taking
- 31:26anything away from future veterans.
- 31:27Read the freaking bill as it was written.
- 31:30Read the bill as it was written. And I'm going to dive into that
- 31:32real quick. And then we're going to talk
- 31:33about what it exactly is. OK, so this is the actual HHR
- 31:389237 hundred and 19th Congress, right?
- 31:41This is the actual bill. Take care of veterans, right?
- 31:43And in section one O 8, which is everybody's complaining about,
- 31:47right, We'll go to one O 8 right here on the bill.
- 31:50I, I, I mean, I, I can't make this any clearer.
- 31:52This is, this is like, this is like childish man.
- 31:56This is like juvenile. I'm not even a lawyer man.
- 31:58And I can read this bill and figure out what it is.
- 32:01So in, in in section one O 8 of the HR 9237, which is the, you
- 32:07know, Veterans Act, it says about, well, let's let's start
- 32:14off here, compensation one O 1 Major Richard Star act,
- 32:17concurrent recipient general section, right?
- 32:20And then we'll just go down. And then it goes to the love
- 32:23lives on Act. There is the extension of
- 32:26increased DIC what I talked about, right?
- 32:29These are all the things that are in this this bill.
- 32:32And then when you get to One O 8, it sits here and it says, I
- 32:36got to find it again. I'm sorry about that.
- 32:38I had it. And then I took a break and I
- 32:39started reading something else. So I got a little ADHD here.
- 32:42But and, and, and, and just to be clear on it, section One O 8
- 32:47is literally like this big. It, it's tiny.
- 32:51It is so tiny. Let's see here.
- 32:54Annual report notice of avoidable deferrals of claims.
- 32:58One O 6's annual report of causes of death among veterans,
- 33:01Right. So then you go to One O 8, OK,
- 33:04one O 7 is even big. One O 8 is literally one
- 33:07paragraph. That's it.
- 33:09But this is what the VFW Veterans of Foreign War and DAV
- 33:13and IVA and whatever the other, that other freaking VSO, I've
- 33:17never even heard of them is, is complaining about reforms
- 33:21related to the Department of Veterans Affairs disability
- 33:24ratings. This is this is what's killing
- 33:26the bill. This is what is keeping all that
- 33:28good stuff in the bill from moving forward, right?
- 33:32Because these people are misinformed.
- 33:34And I think it's negligence for the VFW commander to stand there
- 33:38as a nurse and say, oh, but this is unfair for future claimants.
- 33:42No, it's not. Explain to me and the rest of us
- 33:45veterans how this is taking money away from future veterans.
- 33:49And, and I'm going to read it. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's
- 33:51very simple radius for sleep apnea because that's, that's
- 33:54what everybody's complaining about, sleep apnea, tinnitus,
- 33:57right? Radius for sleep apnea in
- 33:59general. The Secretary of Veterans
- 34:00Affairs shall revise the schedule for rating disabilities
- 34:04adopted and applied under section 1155 of Title 38.
- 34:10Timeout. What is section 1155 of Title
- 34:1438? Well, section 1155 of the Title
- 34:1730 of the United States Code authorizes the Department of
- 34:19Veterans Affairs to maintain and apply a schedule of radiance for
- 34:24reducing earning capacity from specific service member service
- 34:28connected injuries. This law requires that the
- 34:30schedule to be based disability payments strictly on the average
- 34:35impairments of earning capacity in civil occupations using
- 34:39exactly 10 grades of disability from 10% to 100.
- 34:44Now I picked that apart with ChatGPT with all kinds of AIS
- 34:47and everything like that. Section 155 of Title 38 says
- 34:53that the US Department of Veterans Affairs right that's
- 34:57that's the VA has the ability to reduce earning capacity from
- 35:01specific service connected injuries.
- 35:05OK so let's break this down a little bit more.
- 35:08What does that mean in layman's terms?
- 35:09Because it's all like numbers and everything like that.
- 35:12If you have athlete's foot, we'll use that one because that
- 35:19was talked about by the VFW knuckleheads.
- 35:22If you have athlete's foot, right, because you are not able
- 35:27to change your boots like a normal civilian, right?
- 35:29You're in combat or whatever, be it, you can't change your your
- 35:31shoes, whatever. You get athlete's foot and it
- 35:33turns into really bad athlete's foot and you can't get it cured.
- 35:36And then all of a sudden they give you a pill or medicine or
- 35:39creams, whatever, and that goes away.
- 35:41Do you think that that person should still be paid and
- 35:43compensated for athlete's foot? If you say, yeah, just just just
- 35:48go put, just go put gasoline in your eyes.
- 35:50Seriously, just just do something stupid because you're
- 35:53stupid because there's no reason for that.
- 35:56There's no reason for that. So do you think that somebody
- 35:59who loses their job, because we're not talking about veterans
- 36:02right now, we're going to talk about regular civilians?
- 36:04So you think that somebody loses their job that gets
- 36:06unemployment, should continue to get unemployment when they find
- 36:09a new job? Oh, that's what I thought.
- 36:17Crickets, right? Absolutely not.
- 36:20So why would we compensate somebody with money if they're
- 36:23fixed? Because it might come back.
- 36:26Well, when it comes back, we'll pay them again.
- 36:28It's, it's that simple. But, but seriously, why would we
- 36:31do that? First and foremost, nobody's
- 36:35taking away sleep apnea or tinnitus.
- 36:36If you have it and you're 100% or 50% for sleep, 100% for sleep
- 36:40apnea is almost unheard of. So most people are 50% for sleep
- 36:43apnea because they have AC PAP, that's the machine deal.
- 36:46But it sounds like Darth Vader. So if you have sleep apnea now
- 36:50moving forward that that's you, you have sleep apnea, Nobody's
- 36:54going to take that away. That was a big misconception
- 36:56when the when the Take Care of Veterans Act first came out,
- 36:59everybody, Oh, but they're going to take away sleep.
- 37:00Nobody's taking away anything. Nobody's taking anything away.
- 37:04OK, So this is what they wrote in the bill.
- 37:08They wrote in the bill, I'm sorry, I have to keep going back
- 37:11and forth because I'm sure that, you know, I'm going to get all
- 37:13kinds of people commenting and and saying, hey, knucklehead,
- 37:16this and that. So here's what they wrote in the
- 37:20bill, OK? They wrote in the bill that
- 37:25under that section right of HR 9237, that in general, the
- 37:33Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall revise the schedule rating
- 37:37of disabilities adapted and applied under section 111 up the
- 37:40United States called as follows as follows.
- 37:42A grade of disability of 0% shall be assigned for sleep
- 37:45apnea syndrome when the syndrome is asymptomatic.
- 37:49For you guys that are not really medically inclined out there,
- 37:52and I had to look this up because I'm like, I thought that
- 37:55meant one thing and it does. It means exactly what I thought
- 37:57it was. A grade of disability of 0%
- 38:00shall be assigned for sleep apnea syndrome when the syndrome
- 38:04is a symptomatic with or without treatment.
- 38:08OK, just for you guys out there, break this down Barney style.
- 38:12Hold your hand like a small child.
- 38:14Asymptomatic means they're not there anymore, right?
- 38:18So if you had sleep apnea and all of a sudden you don't have
- 38:21it with or without treatment, then it's a zero.
- 38:25That's a no brainer. You shouldn't get anything for
- 38:28it. Why would you get, why would you
- 38:30get 10% for sleep apnea just because it somebody said, oh,
- 38:33you got sleep apnea, Do you need a machine?
- 38:35No, you don't need a machine. You don't need anything.
- 38:37It goes away on its own or it's treatable with maybe a little
- 38:40bit of loss of weight. We'll just say I'm just putting
- 38:44that out there, right? A greater disability of 10%
- 38:47shall be assigned for sleep apnea syndrome when treatment
- 38:50yields incomplete relief. Incomplete relief.
- 38:54So you go and you say you have sleep apnea because you're
- 38:59overweight and you lose that weight and you still have sleep
- 39:04apnea. They're going to give you 10%.
- 39:06I think that's perfectly fair. I don't understand where the
- 39:08problem is here. A grade of disability of 50%
- 39:12shall be assigned for sleep apnea syndrome only if treatment
- 39:16is either ineffective or the veteran is unable to use
- 39:19prescribed treatment. Just throwing this out there
- 39:22guys. Again, hold your hand like a
- 39:25small child breakdown Barney style Sesame Street.
- 39:29A grade of disability of 50% shall be assigned for sleep
- 39:33apnea syndrome only if treatment is either ineffective or
- 39:36veterans unable to use prescribed treatment.
- 39:39So let's just say you're diagnosed with sleep apnea and
- 39:44they go, here's AC PAP machine or a PAP machine, one of the
- 39:46machines that makes you look like Darth Vader and you go I'm
- 39:48claustrophobic. I can't freaking use that shit.
- 39:52Well, you're 50% now, congratulations.
- 39:56But if you use it and you're able to get some good sleep and
- 39:59you start eating healthy and dieting and etcetera, etcetera,
- 40:03because that's 'cause I'm just saying if that is your cause,
- 40:05like sleep apnea can be caused by PTSD.
- 40:08It can be caused by a million things, right?
- 40:09So, so stress, I mean, right, I mean, just a lot of things,
- 40:14right? Sleep apnea isn't just
- 40:15overweight. I'm just picking on overweight
- 40:17because I'm overweight. If you.
- 40:23Are better. Why would you get paid?
- 40:28I don't understand the problem with this.
- 40:29This is only sleep apnea and this is what everybody's so
- 40:31hoping about this taking care of veterans act.
- 40:33Oh, it's unfair. It's unfair to future claimants.
- 40:36It's unfair to future claimants. Why do you know the last time,
- 40:41the last time that the VA did an adjustment to their ratings
- 40:49right was 2017 and before that was 1940s.
- 40:56So since 1940s they've always had the same ratings.
- 41:00Don't you think that medical or medicine advanced since then?
- 41:05I, I do right? Listen, if they had a chip that
- 41:09they can implant my brain right now that says you no longer have
- 41:12a TBIPTSD and don't suffer from this and this and this I'm good
- 41:17I'm good with you taking my money away.
- 41:18I'm absolutely 100% good with that.
- 41:22If there is a pill, magic pill or magic drink that I could
- 41:25drink that would take away all my ailments of not being able to
- 41:30breathe, scarring of my lungs, cancer, the kidneys, whatever be
- 41:34it, I would take that gladly. And you can take my money.
- 41:37You can have the pill or the money.
- 41:39I take the pill all day everyday and I guarantee you those
- 41:41veterans that are out there would still, most veterans out
- 41:44there would still do that. They would take that pill, that
- 41:46magic pill, make it all go away and you can keep the money.
- 41:50Absolutely. So here it is, the breakdown of
- 41:54the Take Care of Veterans Act VFW, IVA and DAV are crying over
- 42:01sleep apnea. Oh, but it won't wait.
- 42:03Stand on, have a seat there young 1.
- 42:07It gets way worse. So then we move on to tinnitus.
- 42:11So those of you don't know what tinnitus is and, and by the way,
- 42:14if you don't know what sleep apnea is, Google search, I'm not
- 42:16going to break it down Barney style, but sleep apnea is just
- 42:18sleep disturbances, tinnitus. If you don't know what tinnitus
- 42:23is, that's a ringing in your ears.
- 42:25If you don't know what that is, go sit in a quiet spot where you
- 42:28don't hear anything, no traffic, no nothing.
- 42:30Take a long drive out into the woods and just sit there for a
- 42:34little bit. If you've ever had a hearing
- 42:36test and you sat in that booth that was completely soundproof,
- 42:39you had tinnitus. I don't I don't care who you
- 42:41are. You've had some kind of
- 42:42tinnitus. It's a ringing in the ears.
- 42:45OK. And this is what they're saying
- 42:47about tinnitus. And again, this is something
- 42:49they were crying about. It says when it comes to
- 42:51tinnitus ratings for tonight as the Secretary of the Army shall
- 42:53revise and schedule of rating of disabilities and adopt, adopt
- 42:59and apply under Section 1155 of Title 38.
- 43:02Again, we read that except as provided in paragraph 2,
- 43:07tinnitus may not be assigned as a separate compensable
- 43:14disability rating. I agree with that totally.
- 43:17I don't see anything wrong with that.
- 43:18I have tinnitus. I don't see anything wrong with
- 43:20that. So.
- 43:22So I had tinnitus when I was 12 years old from listening to
- 43:25music. Walkman came out, I used to and
- 43:27then listen to my music loud so I had tinnitus.
- 43:30What they're saying is that you have to have some kind of proof
- 43:33that this was military related. I'm perfectly OK with that.
- 43:38I, I don't, again, I don't understand what VFW and, and,
- 43:42and, and DAV and Ivan, all these other people are crying about.
- 43:47I, I, I totally, I totally agree with that.
- 43:51And, and there's a lot of people out here.
- 43:52Listen, I, I've, I've sat there and listened to veterans, I've
- 43:55talked to veterans. I went out and walked the walk
- 43:57with veterans. This is something that is like
- 43:59there, it's, it's common sense. If you have tinnitus, you have
- 44:03to prove that it came from the military.
- 44:05Guess what? If you're a machinist, probably
- 44:07have tinnitus, you're a combat engineer, probably have
- 44:10tinnitus. Infantry men probably have
- 44:11tinnitus. If you were sitting in the S1
- 44:14giving out awards, probably don't have tinnitus.
- 44:17Maybe you do from going to the range.
- 44:19I'm just saying you have to prove it has to be documented
- 44:22like everything else has to be documented.
- 44:24This has not been changed since 2:00.
- 44:27I'm sorry. The last time it was changed, I
- 44:28think it was 1940. Something I read online was the
- 44:31last time that sleep apnea and all this other stuff was looked
- 44:34at, but this is something that came from the Joe Biden
- 44:38presidency era. They said, hey, we need to
- 44:39revisit this. 1.5 million people, I'm sorry, 1.5 million
- 44:46veterans claim sleep apnea. 1.5 million.
- 44:51Do you have any claim PTSD less than that?
- 44:56I'm just saying I'm just putting that out there.
- 44:59Just put that out there. So what they're saying is
- 45:01tonight of has to be presumptive, has to have another
- 45:03under underlining thing. It's not a it's not a disability
- 45:07on its own. A grave disability of 10% shall
- 45:10be assigned for tinnitus only when tinnitus is diagnosed as
- 45:13associated with service connected as defined in section
- 45:16one O 116 of Title 38. Everything has to fall under
- 45:20there. I can't sit there and go and
- 45:22say, hey, yeah, I was in a car accident when I was 13 and I got
- 45:29a pin in my leg, but y'all let me in the Army.
- 45:31And because that pin in my leg is bothering me now, is, is is
- 45:34is is going to be service connected?
- 45:38No, that's not how this works in general.
- 45:41The revision to the schedule for rating disabilities adopted and
- 45:43applied under section blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 45:45protection of existing ratings. This is where the VFW and IVA
- 45:50and all those groups really ticked me off because it says
- 45:52here protection of existing ratings.
- 45:55The revision to the schedule for rating disabilities may pursue
- 45:58it to this section may not serve as the basis for reduction.
- 46:04That means if you already have tinnitus, already have it in
- 46:06your, in your, in your, in your VA rating disability or sleep
- 46:12apnea, they cannot take it away. It says right here protection of
- 46:15existing ratings, the revision to the schedule for the rating
- 46:18disabilities made pursuant to this section may not may not
- 46:22that means not not going to happen serve as the basis for
- 46:25reducing, discontinuing or otherwise adversely affecting
- 46:29compensation that was in effect on the day before the date of
- 46:33the enactment of this Act. You guys, man, listen, I, I, I,
- 46:39I am disappointed as a combat veteran.
- 46:42I'm disappointed at you, Madam Commander of the VFW.
- 46:46I'm disappointed at you at the DAV.
- 46:48I'm disappointed at IVA and every other organization that
- 46:51pinned veteran against veteran. Because these two stupid things
- 46:55that you sit there and say it's taking money away from future
- 46:58veterans. No, it's not.
- 47:01How do you figure no more rating for PTSD that might be taking
- 47:07money away from future veterans, No more raining for back, back
- 47:11trouble, for knee, for eyes, for dislocated shoulders or carpal.
- 47:18What do they call that? Arthritis, Degenerate arthritis
- 47:23of the shoulder. Something that I'm seeing more
- 47:25and more and more and, and, and, and diving into all this that
- 47:28I'm seeing more and more at the VA that would be taking money
- 47:33from future claims, something that's almost a guaranteed.
- 47:36But tinnitus is not a guarantee. Sleep only, not a guarantee.
- 47:40And stop using the VA compensation and pension as a
- 47:43form of social welfare, for goodness sake.
- 47:47That's not what it's meant to be.
- 47:50That's not what it's meant to be.
- 47:51Every Tom, Dick and Harry that gets out of the VA, out of the
- 47:53military now is going to be 100 percent, 50% or something like
- 47:57that. What what was going on?
- 48:00If you never went in the military and you went to work
- 48:02for the Police Department, would that fly carrying all that
- 48:08bulletproof vests and the gun belt and all that firefighter,
- 48:11firefighter has to wear all that gear, the bunk out gear and all
- 48:13that stuff. Would that fly for them?
- 48:16If they retire from the military or from the from the fire
- 48:19department or, or the Police Department or whatever be it and
- 48:22they get out? What about a doctor?
- 48:24What about a doctor that walks all day on his feet or a nurse,
- 48:29blood borne pathogens and all the stress that they see?
- 48:31Do they have that opportunity? I'm just putting that out there.
- 48:37Listen, it's it's pathetic. It really is.
- 48:39It's gotten to be where I just don't even know what to say
- 48:42anymore. I appreciate it, Charles, man, I
- 48:49hope you're doing but better, buddy.
- 48:51Charles just got out of surgery. So y'all keep him and his family
- 48:54in your prayers. But yeah, it's this is just so
- 48:59disheartening, the fact that that you as a as a organization
- 49:05that's been around for years, the VFW as an organization
- 49:08that's been around for years, the DAV and organization is
- 49:11supposed to be helping veterans. You did a disservice.
- 49:15You really did. IVA DAVVFW, you have pinned
- 49:20veteran against veteran now, and I'm getting a lot of backlash.
- 49:24Trust me. I'm I'm looking at my, my
- 49:26comments and stuff like that. I'm not sharing with you.
- 49:27It's like, oh, you're only saying that because the major,
- 49:30major star act was it Yeah, yeah.
- 49:32It, it, it, it would have directed.
- 49:33It would have affected me directly.
- 49:35Absolutely. But that's not the only reason
- 49:37I'm talking about it. That's not the only reason I'm
- 49:41talking about it. I cannot believe that you stood
- 49:43there on Capitol Hill and cried and pinned a veteran against
- 49:47veterans saying that the Take Care of Veterans Act was not
- 49:50good because these two little things in there, it's featured
- 49:54claims for veterans. No, they're not.
- 49:56Nothing is guaranteed. Nothing is guaranteed.
- 50:00As a veteran, you being alive and coming home from combat, you
- 50:04should know that as the commander of the VFWI was a
- 50:07nurse that served in combat. Good.
- 50:09We're proud of you. We love our female veterans.
- 50:12We love our nurses. Has nothing to do with that.
- 50:15But you should know that even coming home is not guaranteed
- 50:18for a veteran. So why would you sit there and
- 50:22make this bogus thing and say that it's because of future
- 50:28claims? Future claims, you're taking the
- 50:31money away from future veterans. There's no money being taken
- 50:34away from future veterans. Listen, I am, I am so just over
- 50:41this whole thing with the Take Care of Veterans Act.
- 50:45There were so many good things to come out of that bill and now
- 50:48it's been tabled. I mean, listen, the the Major
- 50:54Richard Starr act and Major Richard Starr in his self Google
- 50:57search it. That man was him and his wife
- 50:59both passed away. He he, he was the one that that
- 51:03that pushed this and you guys took that off the table.
- 51:07Love lives on act love lives on act you guys, you, you, you guys
- 51:13screw that up. Thanks, VFW.
- 51:14Thanks, DMV. Thanks, IVA.
- 51:16All because of your selfishness because you want to get your
- 51:18name out there, IVA, we haven't heard from you since since 2009,
- 51:222010, bro, sit back. Take a freaking Rd.
- 51:26Seriously, I, I mean, it's, it's just aggravating.
- 51:32Aggravating. We're going to take another real
- 51:34quick break and I'm going to get something to drink because my
- 51:36throat is sore is crazy. But we come back, we're going to
- 51:38talk a little bit more about taking care of Veterans Act and
- 51:40then I want to pinpoint a couple things with the VFWDAV and Ivan,
- 51:44all those organizations and, and why were they pinning?
- 51:48Why were they doing that? Why were they pinning veteran
- 51:50against veteran? I mean, it just it makes no
- 51:52sense. We'll be right back.
- 51:54You're listening to veterans talk with yours truly, Magic
- 51:56Mike, on military broadcast radio.
- 51:59We are a radio station that gives our veterans a voice.
- 52:01And listen, if you're joining me for the first time, if you're
- 52:03out there listening to me, I need to ask you guys a favor.
- 52:09Military broadcast radio is for the veterans.
- 52:12It's gives veterans a voice. It is a nonprofit organization.
- 52:16Everything that we take in is used for the stream yard service
- 52:20for teaching veterans. We have teachers that teach the
- 52:24veterans how to podcast, how to be on the radio.
- 52:27I'm not, I'm, I'm not just on YouTube or, or Facebook or
- 52:31Spotify or whatever, be it Kik, right?
- 52:36I'm also on Roku television, right?
- 52:38And, and, and I'm learning so much with Canva and all this
- 52:40stuff. And this is my therapy.
- 52:43This is really my therapy. A gentleman by the name of H
- 52:46Train, Joel Hunt, who who has the H Train show literally is
- 52:50the kind of brainstorm behind this organization.
- 52:54If you can, will donate to A5O13C5O1C3.
- 53:04I know I'm saying all kinds of backwards military broadcast
- 53:07radio would Love, love, love, love your help.
- 53:10Again, it's very expensive to be on stream yard and all this
- 53:13equipment you see is all paid for by military broadcast radio.
- 53:19The headset that you see I'm wearing, the microphone, there's
- 53:21like a whole board here and all this stuff.
- 53:23This is all paid for by them. It is a amazing thing.
- 53:27Unfortunately, we are following short of our gold and we're just
- 53:33looking for a little bit of a hand up, not a handout.
- 53:36So if you could, if you could generously donate a dollar,
- 53:39dollar, $52 or whatever to military broadcast rate.
- 53:42Remember it is a tax write off and it will help a veteran.
- 53:45It helps a veteran to really get in here and be able to do what
- 53:51he wants to do and needs to do. Seriously.
- 53:57I just got told that I need to adjust my camera during the
- 54:00break. Make sure top camera is touching
- 54:03your head. You have a lot of space.
- 54:06I like I like my space. I don't listen up H train.
- 54:09I don't like my body. My body's fat down here, but
- 54:13I'll adjust my camera. We're going to take a quick
- 54:14short break. We'll be right back with you
- 54:16guys here on Veterans Talk military broadcast radio.
- 54:19If you're joining me for the first time, we're talking about
- 54:21the take care of Veterans Act and what it means and how it was
- 54:26hijacked by the VFW, IVA and DAV.
- 54:29And again, we'll be right back on this radio station.
- 57:30And we're back with veterans talk with your truly DJ Magic
- 57:33Mike. And we're talking about the
- 57:37Taking Care of Veterans Act that was just absolutely just
- 57:40hijacked by the that sorry about that.
- 57:48The Taking Care of Veterans Act. It was hijacked by the VFW and
- 57:53the DAV and IVA and it was shelved.
- 57:56It was basically shelved by the Speaker of the House, Mike
- 58:00Johnson. He was just like, look, there's
- 58:02too much going on here. Listen, everybody is voting for
- 58:05it, Everybody wants it, but there's too much too many
- 58:07organizations getting involved here and too many people.
- 58:11And and I guess it's written without understanding, I guess
- 58:15is, is what the what the problem is right to be safe.
- 58:19So I ran it through Tratchy PT. So thanks H train.
- 58:28I'm trying to see. He says there's a lot of space,
- 58:30man. It's just I'm just dude, it's
- 58:33just it's hard. I don't know.
- 58:34Is that better? There we go.
- 58:36I hope that's better anyway. Yeah, it's it's just it's it's
- 58:41pretty difficult to really understand, I guess is the best
- 58:47way to say it. But if I can break it down for
- 58:50you guys, the main reasons was because of section one O 8 of
- 58:56taking Care of Veterans Act, which was the tinnitus in the
- 58:58sleep apnea. And we we went over that and
- 59:00it's just absolutely crazy what happened and what they're saying
- 59:03about it. It doesn't matter.
- 59:05Nothing is going to happen as far as veterans benefits for a
- 59:08while. August recess, we have August
- 59:10recess, which is true elections and then no one will care.
- 59:14It's true because, because right now it's like all elections and
- 59:16everything like that. Everybody's all yeah, take care
- 59:18of veterans and everything. And then when the election dies,
- 59:20obviously, you know, whatever, right?
- 59:24Somebody wrote. I encourage veterans to stop all
- 59:26this fighting amongst our ranks. Absolutely true.
- 59:29I mean, this is you have the VFW against the American Legion 2
- 59:32prestigious organizations have been around for years.
- 59:35Listen up if I can give you any advice, VFW, concentrate on all
- 59:38your posts that you're closing. I'm just saying concentrate on
- 59:45everything that you're closing down left, right and center.
- 59:48It seems like American Legion's doing something right, right.
- 59:50They're in the community and everything like that.
- 59:52You are a prestigious organization because you are
- 59:54veterans of foreign war. Not everybody can get into your
- 59:56post. Not everybody can join your
- 59:58organization. They have to have a combat
- 1:00:00ribbon or some kind of a deployment ribbon, Armed Forces
- 1:00:03Service Medal, whatever be it. In order to join your ranks.
- 1:00:05American Legion just have to have served and honorably
- 1:00:08discharged, that's all. But they seem to be doing
- 1:00:11something right. Why would you go against another
- 1:00:14organization like that? Sit down, break bread with them
- 1:00:17and figure it out and say, hey, listen, we don't like this.
- 1:00:19How about that? The DAV?
- 1:00:21Listen, I'm disappointed. As a lifelong member of the DAV,
- 1:00:31Disabled American Veterans, I'm, I'm, I'm just, I'm sad.
- 1:00:36I'm sad. Go out there and get busy
- 1:00:40helping each other, man. I couldn't say that better.
- 1:00:42You know, as a member of both American Legion and DAV, why
- 1:00:45does the Legion support this legislation while the DAV
- 1:00:48opposes it? It's so true.
- 1:00:49You have two great organs. The three great, 4 great.
- 1:00:52All these organizations are great, but they're against each
- 1:00:54other. Why?
- 1:00:55I, I, it makes no sense. It, it, I'm sorry.
- 1:01:00DAV needs to provide the full set of facts in the future, not
- 1:01:03just a portion of the facts, Right?
- 1:01:05And that's so true. It's so true man, I mean these
- 1:01:08people are all just commenting on it and stuff like that and
- 1:01:11the government can't figure out how to take care of veterans.
- 1:01:14Then maybe they should just stop having them fight.
- 1:01:18Powerful Wounded Warrior missing a limb rated 30%.
- 1:01:21Fat vet with snoring issues rated at 30%.
- 1:01:24Seems fair. I love that one.
- 1:01:26That one right there. That post right there is coming
- 1:01:29from Jonathan Michael Brouillette.
- 1:01:32Wounded Warrior missing a limb rated at 30%.
- 1:01:34Absolutely true. I know a female who was an
- 1:01:37amputee and she was rated at 30% for that amputation, but a fat
- 1:01:44vet was rated at 50%. It's fair.
- 1:01:47I love it that that is too funny.
- 1:01:49That is too funny. It's pretty simple really.
- 1:01:52As long as the Blue Falcons keep giving away our tax money to
- 1:01:56foreign countries. Zero cuts.
- 1:01:58I mean, it's so true, man. I mean, I can sit here all day
- 1:02:01and everybody knows that I don't talk really about politics or
- 1:02:04anything like that. But this is something that got
- 1:02:06me going and I was just so ticked off, so angry at at
- 1:02:12everything that just went on. So my producer is telling me
- 1:02:17it's time. He wants me to shut up and just
- 1:02:19go away. Be quiet into the weeds podcast.
- 1:02:24Don't forget trade surrounds all the great shows on military
- 1:02:29broadcast radio. It is five O 3 Eastern Center
- 1:02:35time. Thank everybody for joining my
- 1:02:37show. If you have any comments or
