- 0:58Speaker 6: and owner of College Match Pros, educational technology company that
- 1:03Speaker 6: lets kids take towards put it on virtual reality headsets
- 1:06Speaker 6: as if they're actually there on campus.

- 1:20Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. Anyway, please continue, gentlemen.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely so. I met Bachi a few years ago.
- 1:27Speaker 6: I've been in education space over eighteen years, and I
- 1:30Speaker 6: had a tagline, brilliance to spread out equally. Opportunity is
- 1:34Speaker 6: not God, the missing nobody with brilliance, but opportunity.
- 1:37Speaker 7: There was that disparity.
- 1:39Speaker 6: So being in a public school system and executive director,
- 1:42Speaker 6: nonprofit organization, everything that had to deal with youth and education,
- 1:47Speaker 6: it was a disparity from the haves and the have nots,
- 1:50Speaker 6: and it was like, what can we do to try
- 1:52Speaker 6: to close this this gap as far as access.
- 1:56Speaker 7: And I just had a.
- 1:57Speaker 6: Wild vision one day and it was how can we
- 2:00Speaker 6: bring well? One exposing kids to careers, because you can't
- 2:04Speaker 6: be what you don't know exists. So that was number one.
- 2:07Speaker 6: So you can't be what you don't know exists. So
- 2:11Speaker 6: to that end, we all have different gifts and talents
- 2:13Speaker 6: and they align with a career. But if you have
- 2:16Speaker 6: no exposure to that career, then how can you be that?
- 2:19Speaker 7: Right?
- 2:20Speaker 6: So, the first thing that I did when I was
- 2:22Speaker 6: working in the education system, in the public school system,
- 2:25Speaker 6: was I created this career library of six hundred careers
- 2:28Speaker 6: and they would directly correlate it to different subject content.
- 2:31Speaker 6: So if you ask a kid that was great in math, like, hey,
- 2:34Speaker 6: what do you want to be when you grow up?
- 2:36Speaker 6: You know, I said number one question. Number one ask
- 2:38Speaker 6: question to kids, what do you want to be when
- 2:39Speaker 6: you grow up? Again, there's your caveat. You can't be
- 2:42Speaker 6: what you don't know exists. So to that end, it
- 2:45Speaker 6: was like, you have a kid who's great at math,
- 2:48Speaker 6: and yet all they know is a banker or an accountant.
- 2:52Speaker 5: So yeah, you can't be what you don't but.
- 2:54Speaker 7: You don't what you don't know.
- 2:56Speaker 6: So essentially, I just started doing a bunch of research
- 2:59Speaker 6: and I started looking at the different subject content from e. L. A.
- 3:03Speaker 6: The history to math, and I was aligning the different
- 3:07Speaker 6: careers with basically those subject contents. And then I was
- 3:12Speaker 6: exposing those kids that had a little mentoring program and
- 3:15Speaker 6: I was exposing those kids to the.
- 3:17Speaker 7: Different career pathways.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Then I had another wild idea of all right, what
- 3:22Speaker 6: if we could college tour and not just college tour
- 3:25Speaker 6: but introduced kids of like tech schools and trade schools.
- 3:28Speaker 6: Think about touring.
- 3:29Speaker 1: That's where it's at. Bro them tech schools and them
- 3:31Speaker 1: trades grades. That's a very misunder like promoted. That's not
- 3:36Speaker 1: promoted enough.
- 3:37Speaker 7: I've never even.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Heard about that.
- 3:39Speaker 8: When I was in the South, when the ac be
- 3:44Speaker 8: going out, the folks be getting the bad Yeah, I
- 3:49Speaker 8: know several people who know how to fix the age
- 3:51Speaker 8: vac and do the free on and all that.
- 3:53Speaker 5: That's big business business.
- 3:56Speaker 4: There's plenty of successful people who didn't go to a
- 3:59Speaker 4: traditional college university.
- 4:01Speaker 7: They went to a trade school.
- 4:03Speaker 4: And but what people don't understand is a lot of
- 4:05Speaker 4: times people think if you didn't go to the you
- 4:08Speaker 4: know U G A or historically black college, but you
- 4:12Speaker 4: went to a trade school, that you're not gonna be successful.
- 4:15Speaker 7: What's what's the trade school?
- 4:16Speaker 5: Trade school?
- 4:16Speaker 4: When you learn how to do a trade, you could
- 4:18Speaker 4: be an electric to school electric to be an h
- 4:23Speaker 4: you go to big you go to school for that
- 4:25Speaker 4: specific trade.
- 4:27Speaker 1: But the thing is, you know, you get the certified,
- 4:30Speaker 1: You get the certification.
- 4:31Speaker 4: To get the certification, and you're going to school specifically
- 4:34Speaker 4: for that reason, and that's what you're going to do
- 4:35Speaker 4: as a career, correct, got yea. So probably a lot cheaper.
- 4:40Speaker 1: If they had a radio school, we know we're gonna
- 4:42Speaker 1: go there, and we know after we're done, we're probably
- 4:45Speaker 1: gonna get a radio station job.
- 4:46Speaker 7: Oh that's fire.
- 4:47Speaker 6: They used to have, like Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 6: you know, I don't know what happened to that, but it.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Was one in Orlando. I forget what it's called. I
- 4:55Speaker 5: know what happens for music, social media full sell.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I don't know if that's the log social media, but
- 5:00Speaker 4: that's that's why, you know. I wanted to be a
- 5:04Speaker 4: part of this because this is this opportunity and the
- 5:07Speaker 4: chance it's going to give a lot of kids like
- 5:09Speaker 4: myself who didn't get the goal. I went to one
- 5:11Speaker 4: college tour to Hampton and found out that my scholarship
- 5:14Speaker 4: that I was supposed to have wasn't a real scholarship,
- 5:16Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. But we didn't have the
- 5:18Speaker 4: means to go travel here and go travel there. So
- 5:20Speaker 4: with this company, when you can bring the college tour
- 5:22Speaker 4: to you, that's amazing, Like.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Say the name of the company again.
- 5:25Speaker 7: So college match pros, College.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Pros, and you've got specialize in giving people the tour
- 5:32Speaker 1: the college or the trade school is a trade school.
- 5:35Speaker 6: That you get trade trade schools is included as well.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The experience of going there and seeing it virtually.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Virtually so you put on the virtual reality headset and
- 5:44Speaker 6: essentially what we've done is we've brought the college campuses
- 5:49Speaker 6: to you. So what happens is is we go and
- 5:52Speaker 6: film so all a. So when our first initially had
- 5:56Speaker 6: the vision, it was like, how are we going to
- 5:58Speaker 6: do this? So we started off with the HBC use.
- 6:00Speaker 6: So with that raised the money, got in contact with
- 6:04Speaker 6: a bunch of the HBCUs Hampton, Howard Morgan, State fam
- 6:09Speaker 6: You Tuskegee, and we started going and we were filming.
- 6:13Speaker 6: And then with filming we started what I started doing
- 6:15Speaker 6: was going into these different local high schools and I
- 6:18Speaker 6: was bringing the VR head sets, the virtual reality head sets,
- 6:21Speaker 6: and kids were put in the morning, they were tripping
- 6:24Speaker 6: because it literally is as if you're actually there on campus.
- 6:27Speaker 6: So I was doing that so many times that Harvard
- 6:31Speaker 6: alumni group had heard about what we were doing. A
- 6:35Speaker 6: local Harvard alumni group that was here and they sent
- 6:39Speaker 6: us out to Boston, Boston Preparatory School, and we had
- 6:42Speaker 6: like one hundred and forty juniors that toured, so we
- 6:45Speaker 6: had thirty VR headsets that Meta heard about us. So
- 6:48Speaker 6: that's when we got the partnership with Meta and then
- 6:52Speaker 6: the partnership say that part partnership with Meta.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah, so yeah, so Meta's Facebook, the.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Instagram, Yes, Shadow glasses right right, shout out to Susan
- 7:02Speaker 6: over there, and Meta shout out the sauce.
- 7:09Speaker 7: So we took the meeting.
- 7:10Speaker 6: We took the meeting with with UH with Meta, and
- 7:13Speaker 6: they vetted us for a year and it was like,
- 7:16Speaker 6: all right, so this is great, but the application, how
- 7:19Speaker 6: you built it, how we essentially built it. Think about
- 7:22Speaker 6: it like like building making a cake, if you will.
- 7:25Speaker 6: We had the box and we just added the flour.
- 7:28Speaker 6: Meta was like, can't do that. You gotta build it
- 7:30Speaker 6: from scratch. So you're like, oh man, so now we
- 7:33Speaker 6: you know, we're talking. I'm thinking, might have boatloads of
- 7:37Speaker 6: money or what have you, you know, And it was
- 7:41Speaker 6: it was, it was, it was a little bit, you know,
- 7:43Speaker 6: but we learned a lot in that experience, and they
- 7:46Speaker 6: connected us, they allowed us to uh, they gave us
- 7:49Speaker 6: three different developers that were Meta certified, and we work
- 7:52Speaker 6: with those developers, and then now we have what's called
- 7:55Speaker 6: the soul Source, meaning that we're the only company with
- 7:59Speaker 6: Meta that is providing college tours and the entire country, you.
- 8:05Speaker 7: Know, only the only Yeah, so we're a soul source company.
- 8:09Speaker 1: So for someone who's watching this interview and this is
- 8:12Speaker 1: this is good because this is gonna get shared a lot.
- 8:15Speaker 1: What how why should someone you know tap into you
- 8:22Speaker 1: guys right now?
- 8:24Speaker 7: Oh, that's a that's a great question. So we we
- 8:26Speaker 7: actually have big news.
- 8:27Speaker 6: So we started working with school districts and we were
- 8:31Speaker 6: selling the virtual reality head set to the school districts
- 8:34Speaker 6: and letting them put on their own virtual reality tours.
- 8:37Speaker 6: So we became a venda New York Department of Education. Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 6: it's the largest school district in the entire country, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 6: big shout out to Principal Tours in the South Bronx.
- 8:49Speaker 7: He was the first one.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Because to get in with New York Department of Education,
- 8:53Speaker 6: it's like trying to get in the mafia. They gotta
- 8:55Speaker 6: endorse you, you gotta do what's called the penetration tests
- 8:59Speaker 6: through IBM, where basically I know that sounds crazy, right,
- 9:03Speaker 6: but What happens is they, because they're the larger school
- 9:06Speaker 6: district in the entire United States, right, they press your
- 9:10Speaker 6: application to see if they could break it. So if
- 9:13Speaker 6: they had sixty or seventy thousand students on the application
- 9:16Speaker 6: at once, is that going to slow it down. It's
- 9:20Speaker 6: called the pin tests, you know for the techies they'll know.
- 9:23Speaker 5: So you you yeah, yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 6: So we went we went through the pen test and
- 9:27Speaker 6: that was about a year and a half and then.
- 9:29Speaker 5: We got to took a year and a half the
- 9:31Speaker 5: whole process. It's you had to have a lot of
- 9:34Speaker 5: patience with this.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Oh absolutely, between them LA Unified, shout out the Oak
- 9:39Speaker 6: Park School District and uh Detroit just came back from Detroit,
- 9:43Speaker 6: shout out to them.
- 9:45Speaker 7: There their adopters as well.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Georgia coming.
- 9:49Speaker 7: That's a plan. We're working on it.
- 9:51Speaker 6: However, what we what we do have right now is
- 9:54Speaker 6: we're opening the hub. So now parents can bring their
- 9:57Speaker 6: kids to tour colleges at.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Our hub and up in Atlanta, yes, or in Georgia.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Okay, pint so, Okay, we're going to do a rip
- 10:05Speaker 4: cutting certamony.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Hey, hey make sure brought Yeah, we'll be there.
- 10:11Speaker 5: We'll be there.
- 10:12Speaker 4: I figured that out. But but to go along what
- 10:14Speaker 4: he's saying, what it will allow you to do is
- 10:15Speaker 4: bring your kids to the Hub and they can experience
- 10:19Speaker 4: the Virtual Headset College Tour.
- 10:20Speaker 5: When's that happening?
- 10:22Speaker 6: So our ribbon cutting is August twenty fourth, Sunday pretty soon.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, ten to ten.
- 10:30Speaker 6: To twelve and we're located yeah, eight eighty one Ponts.
- 10:33Speaker 6: So we we're excited. So with that, you'll have access
- 10:36Speaker 6: to the schools heir and Georgia. You know school he's
- 10:40Speaker 6: probably not even heard of in Georgia, I mean some
- 10:42Speaker 6: coastal college, Gordon State of course, your ugas and then
- 10:46Speaker 6: twenty five plus HBCUs.
- 10:48Speaker 7: So I mean we need to be there. Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that makes it happen, That's that's what.
- 10:52Speaker 3: That's dope because a lot of a lot of you know,
- 10:55Speaker 3: black kids can't afford to be traveling and going to
- 10:58Speaker 3: different colleges and you know, now people can just virtually see.
- 11:02Speaker 4: It and we have you know, for those who, of course,
- 11:06Speaker 4: we want you to come to the Hub and experience
- 11:08Speaker 4: it with the VR headset because the immersive experience is different.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Like you when you put that headset on, bro, you
- 11:13Speaker 4: feel like you're on campus, like, it's crazy. Man. We're
- 11:15Speaker 4: gonna let y'all try it too. But then also for
- 11:19Speaker 4: some reason, if you can't make it, we also have
- 11:20Speaker 4: the subscription process, so you can go to our website
- 11:23Speaker 4: and you can subscribe for a small fee and then
- 11:26Speaker 4: you'll be able to go online and do the towards there.
- 11:28Speaker 4: So I do it with my son and my daughter.
- 11:30Speaker 4: You know, they'll go online. Dad, I want to see
- 11:32Speaker 4: what it's like at this school. I want to see
- 11:33Speaker 4: what it's like this. The exposure is what it is,
- 11:36Speaker 4: and exposure starts early. It's not just high school. You
- 11:39Speaker 4: know what I'm saying. You get exposed to college starting
- 11:41Speaker 4: the elementary school. It's the process of knowing I want
- 11:45Speaker 4: to go to school. I want to go to the
- 11:46Speaker 4: trade school or even if you go on the I
- 11:49Speaker 4: don't know if you mentioned it. If you go on
- 11:50Speaker 4: our website, you can filter it so like you go
- 11:54Speaker 4: to Westlake High School, you have a three point oh GPA,
- 11:57Speaker 4: you made a ten fifty on the say T it'll
- 12:00Speaker 4: filter it to the schools that you can be accepted for.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, we got it buzzed down to the g PA.
- 12:06Speaker 6: So I had two students.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Past the tests that you.
- 12:12Speaker 7: Penetration the biggest.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Tests, so that the biggest It's interesting because when when
- 12:23Speaker 6: I was in the school system. So just to throughout
- 12:27Speaker 6: some some numbers as far as like the school counselors.
- 12:30Speaker 6: It's something called the American School Counselor Association, and they
- 12:33Speaker 6: report that it's four hundred and eight students to every
- 12:36Speaker 6: one school counselor.
- 12:37Speaker 7: So if you think.
- 12:38Speaker 6: About that, you know, it's like kids to one American school.
- 12:43Speaker 6: The American School Counselor Association, there's four hundred. The average
- 12:48Speaker 6: number in high schools and the United States is four
- 12:51Speaker 6: hundred and eight students to every one school counselor. Last year,
- 12:55Speaker 6: loan students spent five minutes with their school counselor.
- 12:58Speaker 7: That's it for the entire school year.
- 13:00Speaker 6: So when you think about it, the top ten percent
- 13:02Speaker 6: of kids would be fine, it's the ninety Yeah, So
- 13:04Speaker 6: when you look at that, it's kind of like, all right, well,
- 13:07Speaker 6: how can we help this?
- 13:08Speaker 7: Right? Like, how can we help again this disparity.
- 13:11Speaker 6: That's all kids, that's not just in the city or
- 13:14Speaker 6: a rural that's that's all kids. So to that end,
- 13:18Speaker 6: what we did was we worked with these developers from
- 13:23Speaker 6: Georgia Tech, and we created the algorithm, and that algorithm
- 13:26Speaker 6: you can put your GPA in, so if you're a
- 13:28Speaker 6: C student, you can see all of the schools that
- 13:30Speaker 6: you would match up with that taking you know what
- 13:32Speaker 6: I mean.
- 13:33Speaker 7: So you ain't even wasting your time.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't want to waste your time. Yeah, because
- 13:38Speaker 4: everybody charges for application.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Feet right, I remember because in a while if that
- 13:44Speaker 1: college application for a lot.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Right, yeah, sure, if you if you're applying to a
- 13:50Speaker 4: few colleges, you.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Know what I'm saying.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, okay, it's definitely it's definitely expensive. So I
- 13:56Speaker 6: mean we looked at every factor, right, you know, we
- 13:59Speaker 6: got the career component all right, as far as you know,
- 14:02Speaker 6: and then you can itemize like I was saying, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 6: if you're into math, you can see all of the
- 14:06Speaker 6: all of the math careers you in the English Stem,
- 14:08Speaker 6: steam whatever. And then it was like, all right, so
- 14:11Speaker 6: we took care of that. Can't be what you don't
- 14:13Speaker 6: know exist. Now let's let's look at this component of
- 14:17Speaker 6: g PA because personally I was a C student and
- 14:20Speaker 6: it wasn't because I couldn't do it. My dad died
- 14:23Speaker 6: when I was in ninth grade.
- 14:24Speaker 7: That messed me up.
- 14:25Speaker 6: For like, my dad was there, like I had a
- 14:28Speaker 6: great relationship with him, and at that time, counseling wasn't
- 14:31Speaker 6: a thing. So I didn't really care about high school.
- 14:35Speaker 1: As much like you when you had to go to
- 14:37Speaker 1: counseling too.
- 14:38Speaker 7: That Y're right.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I have been to counseling when I was when I
- 14:42Speaker 3: was in school, right go to counseling.
- 14:43Speaker 5: So I was a man right now.
- 14:45Speaker 7: It was something.
- 14:46Speaker 6: But before like you know, I was coming up, you know, nineties,
- 14:50Speaker 6: that wasn't that wasn't it. Like it wasn't it wasn't
- 14:53Speaker 6: it wasn't it. So it wasn't that I couldn't do
- 14:56Speaker 6: the work. It was I just lost my dude. So
- 14:59Speaker 6: that point, I'm like, I got them sitting here with
- 15:02Speaker 6: this two point five two point seven.
- 15:04Speaker 7: And I'm like, what do I do? What do I do?
- 15:06Speaker 6: And then so I mean I had a backup plan
- 15:09Speaker 6: if it didn't work. I was just gonna say college
- 15:11Speaker 6: ain't for me.
- 15:12Speaker 1: So no, I got I got you and and see
- 15:16Speaker 1: and now I was gonna ask you a question, but
- 15:19Speaker 1: to pick a back what you're saying. That's why them
- 15:20Speaker 1: trade schools are important, bro, because when I had the
- 15:24Speaker 1: broadcast live with DJ mvy at a trade school, at
- 15:26Speaker 1: a trade institution.
- 15:28Speaker 5: I saw all these people. I was like, wow, this person's.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Graduating to be an electrician. But it was a specific electrician.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I can't remember what it was. These people were doing
- 15:36Speaker 1: h VAT and they were hit me like Farra, if
- 15:38Speaker 1: you need you, if you if you need me to
- 15:40Speaker 1: service your your AC unit and all get my number.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I got like five people aged five h VAT people
- 15:47Speaker 1: that I have on call. But I met at the
- 15:50Speaker 1: institution right that. So I didn't know about trade schools
- 15:54Speaker 1: until I was grown up.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Man trade school right now, two of my boys got

- 19:20Speaker 4: were coming up, you.
- 19:20Speaker 7: Know what I mean.
- 19:21Speaker 4: So it's like, this is this is a like he
- 19:23Speaker 4: told me, man, you you got to solve a problem.
- 19:26Speaker 4: And we're solving a big problem, what I'm saying. So
- 19:28Speaker 4: it's like it's it's gonna change lives, and everybody wants
- 19:32Speaker 4: to do someone be involved with something that changed people lives.

- 20:10Speaker 1: FedEx and get beefits.
- 20:12Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. That's what I was told.
- 20:15Speaker 5: So I went against the grain, and it was it
- 20:17Speaker 5: was so hard to get there? What if it's not
- 20:20Speaker 5: that hard because for a lot of people it's not hard.
- 20:23Speaker 1: No, it's not because it's taught from a very young
- 20:26Speaker 1: age because they had information.
- 20:28Speaker 5: That's why.
