- 0:25Speaker 2: Well, if you never forget anything, tell me this what
- 0:29Speaker 2: colored tie am I wearing? You are wearing a red
- 0:32Speaker 2: and white striped club tie in a half winter or not?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Oh?
- 0:36Speaker 2: I am am? I is that what you think? Well,
- 0:39Speaker 2: if that is what you think, I have something to
- 0:42Speaker 2: tell you, something that may shock and discredit you. And
- 0:47Speaker 2: that thing is as follows. I'm not wearing a tie
- 0:52Speaker 2: at all.
- 1:07Speaker 3: That was pretty good, Pretty good.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I wasn't trying too hardy or sore throat. This is
- 1:11Speaker 1: Guy on Springfield, a review of margin chains here on
- 1:14Speaker 1: four Finger Discount.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I'm Dan O, he is, I'm Guy on Springfield, and yes,
- 1:17Speaker 3: welcome to the podcast. That is wesp quiet. Yeah, I
- 1:20Speaker 3: hope that worked hurt my ears quite a lot. I
- 1:23Speaker 3: didn't clip the audio too bad. Welcome to Margin Chains
- 1:26Speaker 3: and Guy on Springfield. Yeah, what do you think of
- 1:28Speaker 3: this episode? Just quickly, I didn't like this one as
- 1:30Speaker 3: much as I've liked previous Guy on Springfield's right, there's
- 1:33Speaker 3: a lot to love about the episode. There's also as
- 1:35Speaker 3: a parent, now there's a lot you can relate to,
- 1:38Speaker 3: particularly in that opening act. But for me, March episodes,
- 1:42Speaker 3: especially when I was younger, there were never ones that
- 1:46Speaker 3: I gravitated towards. There were never ones that I went oh,
- 1:49Speaker 3: oh bye a March episode, right. Same with Lisa. As
- 1:52Speaker 3: I get older, I've said that I, you know, find
- 1:54Speaker 3: that I'm more lucky Lisa than I realized when I
- 1:56Speaker 3: was younger, And that's because the writers use her as
- 1:58Speaker 3: their voice, and I think I'm just getting older and
- 2:00Speaker 3: becoming a middle aged man. But the other thing with
- 2:02Speaker 3: March episodes is that I always found them quite boring. Now,
- 2:06Speaker 3: being a someone who's lived.
- 2:07Speaker 1: The stay at home dad podcast a lifestyle for the
- 2:11Speaker 1: last couple of years, I can really relate to someone
- 2:14Speaker 1: in Marge's position and situation and see the simplicity of
- 2:18Speaker 1: her character, and I can really relate to those kind
- 2:20Speaker 1: of elements that I when I was younger I thought
- 2:22Speaker 1: were really boring.
- 2:23Speaker 3: But now I go, hey, that's it's just like me. Okay.
- 2:26Speaker 3: So essentially what you're saying is you've grown out of
- 2:28Speaker 3: your hatred of and contempt for women.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Not quite great out of it, Okay, getting there.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Good. It's good that you're a work in progress. The
- 2:35Speaker 3: reason I asked that is, I mean, I was, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: cruising around the internet, as you know, I was cruising
- 2:40Speaker 3: the I was surfing the net as the kids like
- 2:43Speaker 3: to say, and found that there was a bit of
- 2:45Speaker 3: disdain for this episode, certainly from a particular sort of
- 2:49Speaker 3: forum and that talks about the Simpsons a lot.
- 2:50Speaker 1: There was like when was this forum? Was this a
- 2:53Speaker 1: recent forum? Was this one from the nineties? I don't
- 2:56Speaker 1: think it was from the nineties. Okay, because there are
- 2:58Speaker 1: some ones on like Simpson's Archive and things like that,
- 3:00Speaker 1: we can actually go on and see what people thought
- 3:02Speaker 1: of the episode when it first came out, which are
- 3:04Speaker 1: really interesting to go back and read.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Sometimes I'm not going to name names or throw any
- 3:07Speaker 3: particular side, but they were not.
- 3:10Speaker 1: They throw the review out there, then we can name
- 3:12Speaker 1: names who didn't like it.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It was no Homers, No.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Homes's not y Yeah. Friends of the pod.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. There was a lot of yeah
- 3:18Speaker 3: talk on there about it. I didn't like this episode
- 3:20Speaker 3: at all. Yeah, and for what reason? They had various reasons.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I think they One of the main issues that people
- 3:25Speaker 3: had was they thought that it was quite actually misogynistic,
- 3:29Speaker 3: and I think they was specifically focusing on the seeming
- 3:34Speaker 3: glee that our Poo and s took in taking their
- 3:38Speaker 3: march with one line in particular, we can talk about
- 3:40Speaker 3: a little bit later, putting the bitch on ice, the
- 3:42Speaker 3: bitch on ice.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Here's the thing.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't see it as misogynistic because if I'm watching
- 3:47Speaker 1: this and I've got a whole bit about this, I
- 3:49Speaker 1: see a Pooh and Sanjay as the real vielains of
- 3:51Speaker 1: this episode. They're the ones you're not supposed to like,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't think because I think it. Poo's despicable throughout
- 3:57Speaker 1: this and it's just completely ridiculous length. He's willing to
- 4:00Speaker 1: take this for someone who he knows much, right, he
- 4:02Speaker 1: knows so well, is one of his best customers. They
- 4:05Speaker 1: granted they do have snakes steel his store, right, that's karma.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But I don't think it's enough calm and to justify
- 4:11Speaker 1: us to not forgive approve for us to go, oh, well,
- 4:15Speaker 1: at least he got what was coming to him. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: don't think it's enough because you know in the next
- 4:17Speaker 1: episode he's getting his store back.
- 4:19Speaker 3: That's true. Now, Having said that, they do allude to
- 4:22Speaker 3: the fact that the QUICKI Mart does have a pair
- 4:24Speaker 3: and Company. I hope I'm not stepping on one of
- 4:25Speaker 3: my trivia questions. I don't know. To counteract this claim
- 4:30Speaker 3: and misogyny, I would maybe have that pair and company,
- 4:34Speaker 3: like going down hard on our poo and sign Jay
- 4:36Speaker 3: saying no, no prosecute, we don't negotiate with terrorists kind
- 4:39Speaker 3: of deal. You need to show that, you do need
- 4:41Speaker 3: to show.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I know they did throw it in there because this
- 4:44Speaker 1: was the first episode ever written by Bill Oakley and
- 4:46Speaker 1: Josh Weinstein.
- 4:47Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Probably my favorite showrunners in the history of The Simpsons.
- 4:50Speaker 1: My peaky of the Simpsons for me personally is season
- 4:53Speaker 1: seven and eight, and that's when they were in charge
- 4:54Speaker 1: of the show. I just think that's when the show
- 4:55Speaker 1: was at its best. This is the first one they wrote. Apparently,
- 4:59Speaker 1: They're Ripped was very different to what we got in
- 5:02Speaker 1: the end, which I'm going to delve in a little
- 5:04Speaker 1: bit further now, Bill and Josh they did throw that
- 5:06Speaker 1: they're sticklers for details, and they threw in that line
- 5:09Speaker 1: about the parent company, probably for that reason to go
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's not just a pooh yeah, But there wasn't enough
- 5:15Speaker 1: to sort of he was going along with it weight
- 5:17Speaker 1: he seemed to be enjoying it.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah, No, that's what was annoying me. Way too
- 5:21Speaker 3: much satisfaction in the Downfall of March. Yeah, everybody was.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Everyone just jumped off the bam bag and threw under
- 5:27Speaker 1: a bus, and it's like, yes, yes, she accidentally had
- 5:30Speaker 1: a bottle of bourbon in her pocket.
- 5:32Speaker 3: That's for me.
- 5:33Speaker 1: What this is My negative of the episode was it
- 5:36Speaker 1: felt a bit far fetched the lengths in which this
- 5:39Speaker 1: town and the people were going to to hammer down
- 5:42Speaker 1: Marge for accidentally having a bottle of bourbon in her pocket.
- 5:46Speaker 1: To the point where I'm going in the in reality, right,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I know, this isn't reality, it's the Simpsons, it's Springfield.
- 5:53Speaker 1: But are we supposed to believe that a she would
- 5:55Speaker 1: be even be found guilty, there would even be a
- 5:57Speaker 1: court case? Really for this one, there's no prize, and
- 6:00Speaker 1: like someone like Judge Schneider would actually send this mother
- 6:03Speaker 1: of three children to prison for it. It just it
- 6:05Speaker 1: just seems silly.
- 6:06Speaker 3: This kind of ties into suding I want to talk about,
- 6:08Speaker 3: because yeah, there's been a lot of to do about
- 6:11Speaker 3: the Simpsons predicted this and the Simpsons predicted that, and
- 6:13Speaker 3: this is regarded a very pressioned episode in terms of like, oh,
- 6:16Speaker 3: well the ohsaka blue equals COVID nineteen or tweet twenty.
- 6:20Speaker 1: This episode went viral because that people were replacing asaca
- 6:23Speaker 1: flu with coronavirus. Actually, yeah, people, we've mentioned it recently
- 6:27Speaker 1: a lot. People don't fact check anymore. I'm not saying
- 6:29Speaker 1: news websites in particular, but just fans, you know, even
- 6:31Speaker 1: just people in general, they go, oh, the Simpsons predicted it.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I had so many people sending me my personal friends
- 6:38Speaker 1: who don't really follow the Simpsons. They're Simpsons fans, they
- 6:41Speaker 1: watch the show when they're kids, but they're not diehard
- 6:42Speaker 1: Simpsons fans. They go, did you see the Simpsons predicta
- 6:45Speaker 1: the coldplay thing? And I go, do I have to
- 6:47Speaker 1: explain to everybody? I'm like, by the end, I was
- 6:50Speaker 1: just doing the laugh react you know, I couldn't. Of course,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I couldn't be bothered explaining it, And I don't want
- 6:55Speaker 1: to be that guy. Go, well, actually it's actually not real.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You don't want to be comic book comic book guy.
- 6:59Speaker 3: No, exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 1: So this one went viral because people were thinking they
- 7:03Speaker 1: actually predicted coronavirus, not just a flu like actual coronavirus.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Ifn it wasn't like a term in ninety three, right?
- 7:11Speaker 1: But then also, what was the other thing that the
- 7:14Speaker 1: killer bees as well?
- 7:15Speaker 3: Was another one? Yeah, killer Bee's equal murder hornets, and
- 7:18Speaker 3: the riot.
- 7:19Speaker 1: At the end equals I guess the Black Lives Matter,
- 7:22Speaker 1: any any uprising in the US.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah. What I'm thinking is the whole town turning against
- 7:28Speaker 3: Marge is kind of emblematic of a town that's on
- 7:31Speaker 3: the edge. It's having its nerves frayed by Oh, there's
- 7:33Speaker 3: this virus going around. Everybody's sick, nobody's feeling good. Everybody's
- 7:37Speaker 3: kind of on the razor's edge, you know, about to
- 7:39Speaker 3: sort of snap, and the town needs escapegoat. You see it,
- 7:43Speaker 3: When all these people are outside, doctor hippensaf are saying, well,
- 7:46Speaker 3: you want a cure, We want to cure it's like flu,
- 7:48Speaker 3: you just need bed rest. No, no, give us bos
- 7:51Speaker 3: anything to be a placebo. Where can we get this
- 7:53Speaker 3: with ebos? Yeah, everybody is just really tightly wound, and
- 7:59Speaker 3: so when something say element to it, Look, that's maybe
- 8:01Speaker 3: a stretch on my part, but that's maybe how I
- 8:03Speaker 3: choose to read it. But yeah, when something goes wrong
- 8:06Speaker 3: and everyone has an opportunity to go not necessarily, Oh
- 8:09Speaker 3: she's the cause of other problem. Oh here's something we
- 8:11Speaker 3: can focus our anger on. Here's something we can maybe
- 8:13Speaker 3: all agree on, even if it's the most tenuous of reasons.
- 8:16Speaker 3: So that's one way of looking at it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Certainly, I'm watching this going by the end of it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I asked myself the question, what was the point of
- 8:25Speaker 1: this episode? What were they going for? Because the episode
- 8:28Speaker 1: is called Margin Chains, and I feel that this episode
- 8:30Speaker 1: would have been pitched as Marge goes to prison, Josh
- 8:34Speaker 1: Bill go write that. Yeah, and apparently they did a
- 8:36Speaker 1: lot of research.
- 8:39Speaker 3: They did a lot of women in prison research. I'm
- 8:41Speaker 3: wondering what that might have actually entailed.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but a lot of realism to it. And maybe
- 8:45Speaker 1: that explains why for an episode that's called Margin Chains
- 8:49Speaker 1: and marketed as the one where Marge goes to jail.
- 8:52Speaker 3: She's not in jail all that much.
- 8:53Speaker 1: She doesn't get to jail till like the final six
- 8:55Speaker 1: or so minutes, and even then there's barely any scenes
- 8:59Speaker 1: in the prison that much. And we get introduced to
- 9:01Speaker 1: characters like Phillips and Annie, but not enough substance there
- 9:06Speaker 1: for us to develop any form of connection to these characters.
- 9:09Speaker 1: They're just sort of there and very forgettable, to the
- 9:12Speaker 1: point where I was going, should she had just even
- 9:14Speaker 1: gone to prison at all in the end?
- 9:16Speaker 3: Anyway? I mean, look, I'm not saying this is how
- 9:19Speaker 3: you could have done it. It could have been interesting
- 9:20Speaker 3: that everybody in all these women in prison are basically
- 9:23Speaker 3: in prison because they've just been pushed to the edge
- 9:25Speaker 3: by either having to do with dead bee dudes or
- 9:29Speaker 3: life pressures or something like that.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean, Phillips alludes to that, you know, she's got
- 9:32Speaker 1: a shitty husband and that she's stared with the Phillips
- 9:34Speaker 1: head screwdriver.
- 9:35Speaker 3: But yeah, you're right. I mean, for the episode being
- 9:38Speaker 3: titled margin chains, not a lot of chains.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's the one where Marge goes to jail. That's what
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's marketed, That's what it's known for. It's the one
- 9:43Speaker 1: where Marge goes to prison, but she we don't even
- 9:46Speaker 1: really see her response and her having to learn to
- 9:50Speaker 1: live the prison life.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not it's not exactly an episode of Orange
- 9:53Speaker 3: is the New Black. I mean, for all of it
- 9:57Speaker 3: being called margin chains. I really view this as a
- 9:59Speaker 3: line of Lart episode. Yeah, or just attribute to Phil
- 10:02Speaker 3: Harmon episode because he's just got this forgrific one two
- 10:04Speaker 3: punch of some great Troy McClure stuff and some really
- 10:08Speaker 3: great Lionel Hut stuff. Yeah, it's not really a Marge
- 10:11Speaker 3: centric episode at all. She's kind of the I guess,
- 10:14Speaker 3: the catalyst for some events, but she's almost like a yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 3: second or third string player.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I was watching this feeling like this is actually very
- 10:22Speaker 1: similar to our last guy On spoof for The Boy
- 10:24Speaker 1: Who Knew Too Much. A lot of it is court
- 10:27Speaker 1: case based.
- 10:28Speaker 3: There we go, something.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Happens in the start, we get a whole act about
- 10:31Speaker 1: a court case, and then in the end it's just
- 10:33Speaker 1: kind of like, eh, but other stuff happens. It's like, oh, Marge,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I've cooked it. I was like, it's like the sixteen
- 10:39Speaker 1: minute market. Now Marge is only fine to go into prison,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and even there she doesn't seem all that bothered by it.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The family's like, oh, we'll miss you. It's just I
- 10:46Speaker 1: know that a kind of somewhat emotional moment in the
- 10:48Speaker 1: court room, but I don't know, it just felt like
- 10:50Speaker 1: it wasn't that big of a dealer, mar just being
- 10:52Speaker 1: taken away for thirty days.
- 10:53Speaker 3: It's not so much her going to jail as the
- 10:55Speaker 3: smear on her reputation as well. I mean, yeah, the
- 10:58Speaker 3: way that particularly hell and love Helen loved you, agg.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I mean she is also to me, I've always seen
- 11:03Speaker 1: her as a villainesque character. Oh yeah, I've never She's
- 11:06Speaker 1: never had any positive traits for me, Helen love Joyce.
- 11:08Speaker 1: She's not the busybody thinks she's high and mighty when
- 11:11Speaker 1: really she's not at all and just gossips about everybody. Sure, yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 1: she's not a good person, Helen love joy.
- 11:16Speaker 3: No, and no sort of comic retribution for her either. No.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But at the end though, when they have the statue
- 11:21Speaker 1: from Margin, like the town's just like, hey, Margin is
- 11:23Speaker 1: a big town, welcome back, And I'm.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Like, what do you mean? I know what the hell
- 11:27Speaker 3: is going on? And here's the thing. Look, I know
- 11:29Speaker 3: that they've played this up for comic effect. Yea, for
- 11:31Speaker 3: the whole you know, we're fifteen dollars short. Look, that
- 11:34Speaker 3: gag works when it's like, oh, we're short for cinder blocks,
- 11:38Speaker 3: we can't build a children's hospital. That's funny, and that
- 11:40Speaker 3: works when it's we're fifteen dollars short exactly what Marge's
- 11:44Speaker 3: squares would be. Like everyone's shipping a dollar, everyone head dollar.
- 11:48Speaker 3: There you go your sword. I wouldn't.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to say this episode fell off the
- 11:52Speaker 1: rails when Marge went to prison, because there are some
- 11:53Speaker 1: funny scenes.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But I don't know. The first two thirds are really good. Yeah,
- 11:57Speaker 3: the final third is like a bunch of stuff that happens.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And as I read on wiki, as we're saying, they
- 12:02Speaker 1: did a lot of research Bill and Josh about women
- 12:04Speaker 1: in prison, but much of it was later replaced. So
- 12:06Speaker 1: I'm thinking maybe this final act was their episode and
- 12:11Speaker 1: it was just the rescue stretched out and they tried
- 12:14Speaker 1: to cram in the good bits of what they could
- 12:16Speaker 1: into that final act. But there was not enough there,
- 12:19Speaker 1: There was enough. It just wasn't memorable. The final third,
- 12:22Speaker 1: Oh absolutely not. It just it just felt like, oh,
- 12:24Speaker 1: this is just you just trying to fill time, cramming
- 12:27Speaker 1: it in. Yeah, Phillips is just not that interesting a character.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Tatoo Anni is a one gag bit, like what it's
- 12:34Speaker 1: just they're tough women? Is that it essentially who fall
- 12:38Speaker 1: for easy lies from people at Barney There.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Was clearly you've never watched a little show called Love
- 12:43Speaker 3: after Locker or even Judge Judy. We saw my car
- 12:51Speaker 3: in the block.
- 12:52Speaker 1: But I just don't, I just don't think this episode
- 12:56Speaker 1: felt a story of two halves. It felt like the
- 12:58Speaker 1: court case and then it felt like quick cram in
- 13:01Speaker 1: margin prison at the very end there well, not even
- 13:04Speaker 1: two hards, like three thirds, because because not even the
- 13:06Speaker 1: whole final act is her in prison, because you've you've
- 13:08Speaker 1: got her coming back home, the kids trying to clean
- 13:10Speaker 1: up the house. There's all these like she disn't in
- 13:12Speaker 1: prison for like three minutes of the episode. But certainly
- 13:14Speaker 1: the first third episode, maybe the first act even is
- 13:17Speaker 1: just Springfield is infected with osaka flu and the town
- 13:21Speaker 1: kind of starts to fall apart as a result. For mine, Actually, no,
- 13:24Speaker 1: not the funniest the court case of the funniest, mainly
- 13:26Speaker 1: because of the whole line of hut stuff.
- 13:28Speaker 3: But I reckon that first third is that's the best part.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That's pretty damn But for me, the first act feels
- 13:34Speaker 1: like Golden euro Simpsons. The second act is good, it's enjoyable,
- 13:38Speaker 1: but it's just not a great deal happening. There's a
- 13:40Speaker 1: lot of hut stuff, right, but not a great deal happening.
- 13:43Speaker 1: The final bit is just whatever it is. You know,
- 13:47Speaker 1: let's wrap this up. But you can't stay in prison. No,
- 13:49Speaker 1: of course that's the thing. You watch this going when
- 13:50Speaker 1: she's going to get out thirty days anyway, that's what's
- 13:53Speaker 1: the point.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah, But like I was saying, I mean, yeah, it's
- 13:58Speaker 3: not so much the prison sent as the tarnished reputation,
- 14:01Speaker 3: and that reputation needs to be restored. By the end,
- 14:04Speaker 3: it doesn't really feel like it is. It's just more like, oh,
- 14:08Speaker 3: we realized, you know what a pivotal part of the community.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I mean, it's not like, oh, we've cleared your record.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Oh we know that you didn't steal it or something
- 14:16Speaker 3: like that. I mean, you didn't necessarily need Oh look,
- 14:18Speaker 3: here's some security camera footage that shows oh she was
- 14:21Speaker 3: flussled or something like that, or you know. Arph says
- 14:24Speaker 3: oh gosh, I think we made a mistake with that
- 14:26Speaker 3: one or something like that. No, it's just she gets
- 14:27Speaker 3: out of prison, like we missed you, Marge. Here's a statue,
- 14:30Speaker 3: eh eh.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But it needed to get Marge on the stand and
- 14:33Speaker 1: have Marge explain herself, and I think that it could
- 14:35Speaker 1: have been a really emotional, nice moment of her just
- 14:37Speaker 1: saying I'm sorry, yeah, not hired.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Yeah, not even that. Have everybody else saying, yeah, it's
- 14:45Speaker 3: not necessarily amissible in court. But it's like we pushed
- 14:47Speaker 3: her too hard. She was Yeah, she was the foundation.
- 14:50Speaker 3: She was the rock that we were all sort of
- 14:52Speaker 3: relying on.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Because it feels like that's the point of this episode.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The point is them trying to say, how great is March. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 1: we'll break down with the systems, break breaks down without her,
- 15:02Speaker 1: not even just have her family do it. Have other
- 15:04Speaker 1: members of the community saying, or other female members, Marge
- 15:07Speaker 1: can't go to prison because of this. She you know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: her bakes, her marshmallow squares are what keep this bake
- 15:12Speaker 1: sale going. Just this seems trivial, but all the little
- 15:14Speaker 1: things add up, and I just think it should have
- 15:16Speaker 1: been a everyone in town showing her appreciation not sending
- 15:19Speaker 1: her to prison and going, oh shit, we probably shouldn't
- 15:21Speaker 1: have done that.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and for purely selfish reasons, because it's like, oh,
- 15:24Speaker 3: well we didn't make our fifteen bucks and the ether
- 15:26Speaker 3: we've fallen a bit short. No, she needed character witnesses.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah anyway, Yeah, but hey, look that's aspect of the episode.
- 15:35Speaker 3: We weren't exactly fond of it. But I think there
- 15:36Speaker 3: was plenty of that to be very very fond of them,
- 15:38Speaker 3: all right.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, particularly the hut stuff in general. But I
- 15:41Speaker 1: was I just don't want to touch on I mentioned earlier,
- 15:43Speaker 1: but the relatability and being a stay at home dad
- 15:45Speaker 1: and me being able to sort of relate to March
- 15:46Speaker 1: more that scene where she is I'm not going to
- 15:49Speaker 1: say the word breakdown having a break She's not having
- 15:51Speaker 1: a breakdown in the quickie mart. But I guess it's
- 15:54Speaker 1: just a case of it's the overstimulation of.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Everything put it right to the edge.
- 15:58Speaker 1: She is just there is so much going on at
- 16:01Speaker 1: home and Springfield where everyone sick except for her, so
- 16:04Speaker 1: it's up to her. It's all on her shoulders to
- 16:06Speaker 1: keep the thing afloat right. And that's pretty much life here,
- 16:11Speaker 1: not Nikola. She obviously helps out great deals. It's a
- 16:13Speaker 1: team here. But just even as even when there's two
- 16:16Speaker 1: adults in the house when the kids are sick, there
- 16:18Speaker 1: is so much going on and kids want this, kids
- 16:21Speaker 1: want that. The cats are hungry to the point sometimes
- 16:23Speaker 1: I just sit there and go, I just need a second.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, And it's so easy to understand how much
- 16:29Speaker 1: she didn't steal the moment. She just she forgot that
- 16:32Speaker 1: it was in her pocket. So easy to do.
- 16:34Speaker 3: You've only got so much bandwidth, Yeah, I say.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I compare parent life sometimes to managing a restaurant where
- 16:41Speaker 1: the customers are never satisfied and you don't get paid.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's just there's always something that they complain that, they're
- 16:46Speaker 1: never happy that.
- 16:47Speaker 3: You know.
- 16:48Speaker 1: The kids are just being kids, right. They don't understand
- 16:50Speaker 1: the trivial aspect of their life and how the slightest
- 16:53Speaker 1: thing is like the greatest, the biggest thing in their world.
- 16:56Speaker 1: But sometimes I'm just getting dinner ready in Alliot It's
- 16:58Speaker 1: like I want this, and Holly's like, but he's in
- 17:00Speaker 1: that and this is happening. I'm just like stimulated. So
- 17:04Speaker 1: when I see marginal supermaker here, I'm like.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I feel your sister. Sure, it's it's it's it's hard sometimes.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And yeah, and I just thought they really really capture
- 17:11Speaker 1: the the emotional stress of being a parent sometimes in
- 17:15Speaker 1: that scene. Yeah, I love in the Golden Ere they
- 17:17Speaker 1: do a really good job of these these visions or
- 17:21Speaker 1: dream sequence. This wasn't a dream, but just just the
- 17:23Speaker 1: animation and seeing all the faces everywhere, it's like the overstimulation.
- 17:27Speaker 3: That's it to a t. Well, it's a very relatable
- 17:29Speaker 3: show in that round. I think that's you know, part
- 17:31Speaker 3: of its secret source, isn't it the fact that it's like, Okay,
- 17:33Speaker 3: these are cartoon characters, but hey, they're also just like
- 17:36Speaker 3: me and the simps that is worked best walks that
- 17:39Speaker 3: very fine line of like I can relate to this,
- 17:41Speaker 3: but it's also kind of heightened my favorite.
- 17:46Speaker 1: What were your favorite moments from the episode?
- 17:48Speaker 3: This episode actually has a few of my all time
- 17:50Speaker 3: favorite moment just little gay You thought.
- 17:52Speaker 1: One of us in this one was in the previous episode,
- 17:54Speaker 1: which one was that it was something the bluehaird Lawyer says.
- 17:57Speaker 3: That's correct, but it isn't this one. Yeah, I mean,
- 18:01Speaker 3: because the flute Heavilay wasn't even in the last one,
- 18:03Speaker 3: but he's so confident this time around that he can
- 18:05Speaker 3: waste the jury's time by rating the super Hunks. I'm
- 18:08Speaker 3: sorry that that line tickled me when I first saw
- 18:10Speaker 3: this episode. That tickles me to this day. I'm just
- 18:12Speaker 3: holding up what is it? Magazine covers were like, who
- 18:15Speaker 3: do you think is my handsome Tom Cruise or Mel Gibson.
- 18:18Speaker 1: It's like, where are you going with what a nineteen
- 18:21Speaker 1: ninety three statement?
- 18:22Speaker 3: That one. I'm still looking pretty good for gentlemen of
- 18:26Speaker 3: their age. But yeah, rating the Super Hunks is just
- 18:29Speaker 3: it's just a phrase. It's entered my personal vocabulary. But
- 18:32Speaker 3: another one of those. And this is also Mike Reese's
- 18:34Speaker 3: favorite joke apparently, or favorite joke to date. He might
- 18:37Speaker 3: have other one.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Since I read that, and I was like, you guys
- 18:39Speaker 1: in the audio commentaries say this so often it's lost.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I was one of my favorite lines. Yeah, this is fact,
- 18:45Speaker 1: And ten minutes later I was one of my favorite lines.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm like, you guys just throw it out there like
- 18:49Speaker 1: it means nothing. Fuck it, I'm sticking to my guns.
- 18:51Speaker 3: This is great. Yeah, but it's Troy mcclaw saying you
- 18:54Speaker 3: might remember me from such films as P is for Psycho.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I'm sorry, that's fantastic. Explain why what you love so
- 19:00Speaker 3: much about that? Well, it's, first of all, it's just
- 19:02Speaker 3: a It's the kind of movie you can imagine someone
- 19:04Speaker 3: like Troy McClure appearing in. It's like some nineteen sixty
- 19:08Speaker 3: five B movie. It's like something that Rick Dalton from
- 19:10Speaker 3: Once Upon a Piment Hollywood might have appeared in. But
- 19:13Speaker 3: also just a great sort of P. Isn't it a word? No? No, yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 3: you say psycho? It lines U where's the P in that? Yeah?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but P is also just the deliverer peas
- 19:24Speaker 1: for a psycho, like President's neck is missing.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Also not a bad gig, but peas a Psycho is
- 19:29Speaker 3: just affection. Also two psycho shout outs in this episode. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 3: because when Marge's going to the I guess the love
- 19:38Speaker 3: Joy's bathroom. That's Flanders's, sorry, the Flannders bathroom. Yeah. That
- 19:42Speaker 3: whole Stands with the People is a direct lift from
- 19:46Speaker 3: Alfred Hitchcock Psycho. It's beautiful. I love it.
- 19:48Speaker 1: One of my favorite movies comes just before that bit
- 19:50Speaker 1: there when she says I'll keep an eye on it
- 19:52Speaker 1: and Flanners is like wiping his mouth. He doesn't saying
- 19:54Speaker 1: this goes just not It's just a subtle knot of
- 19:58Speaker 1: that's right. You fucking watch her. Flanners give me such
- 20:02Speaker 1: a bit sometimes a lot of good Flanner stuff in
- 20:05Speaker 1: this episode. By the way, this show is brought to

- 20:31Speaker 3: There's a lot that I enjoyed in this episode, so
- 20:33Speaker 3: I hope I might have This takes a little while,
- 20:34Speaker 3: but when the Osaka flu hits Springfield and people are
- 20:39Speaker 3: getting very infected by opening boxes or whatever, I've got
- 20:41Speaker 3: two that I really enjoyed, just Patting and Selma giving
- 20:44Speaker 3: each other a juice loose. But when they both at
- 20:47Speaker 3: just the act that was fantastic. But Wigham shooting at it, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 3: that's brilliant. And the pov of you being there. Oh yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 3: it just did coming out for a movie style. Yeah. Yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 3: what was the other psycha reference? Sorry? Was that the piece?
- 21:01Speaker 3: And that was the other one? Yeah? Yeah, yeah. I've
- 21:03Speaker 3: always loved the image of the Osaka Floon being represented
- 21:05Speaker 3: by Godzilla with just the poor good the sick crowd
- 21:13Speaker 3: attacking the truck that they think has got blacebos and
- 21:15Speaker 3: it turns out to be full of killer bees. One
- 21:17Speaker 3: guy eats a killer but I'm curing, I mean out, Yeah,
- 21:20Speaker 3: I'm not sure how this plays thirty something years down
- 21:24Speaker 3: the line. But the whole Crying Game bit.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I wanted to touch on that when it came to it,
- 21:28Speaker 1: But you'll do it now. That film came out in
- 21:30Speaker 1: like May of ninety two, right, Yeah, it's been out
- 21:33Speaker 1: for like less.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Than a year.
- 21:34Speaker 1: That's a big spoiler, throw in a TV.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Kind of it, massive spoiler. But the Crying Game was
- 21:40Speaker 3: a very big hit. Yeah, I know that.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And if I would have been talking about imagine Yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 1: And was that spoilers went really a thing back then?
- 21:47Speaker 3: I mean, I don't think they were actually selling it
- 21:50Speaker 3: on the don't reveal the secret of the Crying Game,
- 21:52Speaker 3: but I think it would regard it as poor forms made.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I saw the Crying Game. I'm going to say anything.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm gonna say anything. Just go see if you're just
- 22:00Speaker 3: wait till the end. Yeah, but I've been generally everyone's
- 22:02Speaker 3: sort of like that checks a dude, right, dude, So
- 22:07Speaker 3: quit me to go. I mean, man, is that a
- 22:11Speaker 3: good movie. But just what a great escape hatch.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But the fact that he's blabbing at his rally, at
- 22:16Speaker 1: his rally, I know that's fair.
- 22:18Speaker 3: He just can't keep quiet about anything. But my last
- 22:24Speaker 3: is at the end when when the statue of Jimmy
- 22:27Speaker 3: Carter is revealed and everyone just up in arms like
- 22:30Speaker 3: his history's greatest monster, which I think is a fantastic life.
- 22:32Speaker 3: But why do they say that?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Though al Jina said that he doesn't like him Carter, Yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 1: but like, why goes to that?
- 22:40Speaker 3: I'm not sure if we were in the Jimmy Carter
- 22:43Speaker 3: Reclamation project yet, I think he was still regarded as
- 22:45Speaker 3: a bit of a lame duck president. He had one term.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Everyone goes, oh, this guy is kind of weak. He
- 22:51Speaker 3: didn't really help us out with the erase hostage is
- 22:53Speaker 3: a fan kind of yeah, Yeah, I mean I think
- 22:55Speaker 3: they made fun of him again with George H. W.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Bush That, Yeah, it was another episode where they just
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's just building houses and stuff, right.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Which he did. I mean, you know, he ended his
- 23:06Speaker 3: presidency and he started doing stuff the Habitat for Humanity
- 23:10Speaker 3: an absolute fantastic humanitarian and now was regarded as one
- 23:13Speaker 3: of the you know, a really great president. Because we're
- 23:15Speaker 3: coming off of all America is coming off watergates. You know,
- 23:18Speaker 3: there's no faith in politicians at all. This is a
- 23:20Speaker 3: pre the Reagan era, sort of the cult of personality,
- 23:23Speaker 3: celebrity politician era begins with him in Earnest Carlor is
- 23:27Speaker 3: kind of a placeholder, but he's also he's making the
- 23:29Speaker 3: best of a really shitty situation, a terrible economy, and
- 23:33Speaker 3: he's trying to sort of restore faith. But he's also
- 23:36Speaker 3: he's not sugarcoating it for the Americans. He's basically saying,
- 23:38Speaker 3: we're facing a Christ as a constant confidence here people.
- 23:41Speaker 3: You know, you know, America is not in a good
- 23:42Speaker 3: state and this is not what America wanted to hear,
- 23:44Speaker 3: not what the world wanted to hear. So when Reagan
- 23:46Speaker 3: comes along and says we're going to make America great again,
- 23:48Speaker 3: he actually did say that. Yeah, they're all like, yeah,
- 23:52Speaker 3: give us hell, Regan, Whereas you know, Carla's going like,
- 23:55Speaker 3: this guy's telling us the truth and it's a bit
- 23:58Speaker 3: of pill to swallow. Yeah, when he died recently, did
- 24:02Speaker 3: he make it to a hundred, Jimmy Carter, I'm not
- 24:04Speaker 3: sure if he did. I can look it up while
- 24:05Speaker 3: you continue. I don't think you heard a bad word
- 24:08Speaker 3: about him from people who mattered age one hundred. Yeahah,
- 24:12Speaker 3: I think we're wow. This guy, you know, served his
- 24:15Speaker 3: country both in the military and as a civil servant,
- 24:18Speaker 3: as a politician, Christian, married to his married to his
- 24:22Speaker 3: childhood sweetheart, or is a teenage sweetheart? Is his entire
- 24:25Speaker 3: life solid? Dude? What's his speech now that? Yeah, it's
- 24:29Speaker 3: not really it's on the statue. The statue says Malays forever.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I think he refers to Malays at least once. But
- 24:34Speaker 3: in the I think it's in that speech that I
- 24:36Speaker 3: referred to.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Speech apparently says known as that that's we have a.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Crisis of confidence. I think that's what he's talking about.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I think Malays might be in there, or at least
- 24:44Speaker 3: sort of alluded to.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Yeah, as a kid going who the hell is that.
- 24:49Speaker 3: So, I guess you know again, as our pal Rainio
- 24:52Speaker 3: wolf Castle says, that's the joke. But someone's so inoffensive
- 24:55Speaker 3: is history. It's greatest monster. It's just entered my personal
- 24:58Speaker 3: yeah vocabulary again, it's like history as great as Manster. Yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I loved so it's a prison sequence and I've touched
- 25:06Speaker 1: on it in previous episodes. How I love the relationship
- 25:09Speaker 1: between Homer and Marge. It's just and their sex life.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Homer is saying, you know, don't want to push you
- 25:13Speaker 1: into anything, you know, and Marge just pounces on you. Marge,
- 25:17Speaker 1: you know, she's ready to get down.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And there's no secret to that. Marge is always ready
- 25:22Speaker 1: to go.
- 25:23Speaker 3: And I love that they sort of lay a little
- 25:25Speaker 3: bread crumb before that, you know, when Marge is a
- 25:28Speaker 3: boud to go to prison and home, I'm going to
- 25:31Speaker 3: miss you. And it's not just the sex. There's also
- 25:33Speaker 3: the food preparation. Yeah you think stains all kinds, he's
- 25:36Speaker 3: going to be the horny one. Yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Instead it's Yeah, that's an empowering women moment as well,
- 25:43Speaker 1: because for even when I was growing up, it felt
- 25:47Speaker 1: like women and sex was like, you know, only men
- 25:49Speaker 1: are allowed to be down and dirty.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Like it's oh, it's something that men want and women.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Women are allowed to be just as loving for sex
- 25:56Speaker 1: as men now, and that's that's that's that's fine.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Right, that's acceptable. This is used to me.
- 26:01Speaker 1: But women like seeing someone like Marge just like I
- 26:04Speaker 1: want twos on you now as sure.
- 26:06Speaker 3: That's great. Oh yeah, for the conjugal visit to get conjugal.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, next question you there eating the.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Beast trivia time. My first question for you is where
- 26:16Speaker 1: does Arnie Pie in the Sky vomited onto? It's the
- 26:19Speaker 1: twelfth and main, Yes, who does he vomit onto?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Man al Am? My first question here because I had
- 26:25Speaker 3: the twelfth and main question as well. Okay, what are
- 26:28Speaker 3: Wigams demands of Marge as she exits the quickie mart.
- 26:32Speaker 3: He wants.
- 26:35Speaker 1: A capricorn freshener something with coconut on it? Yes, two,
- 26:42Speaker 1: two cinnamon something. It's two coffees, two coffees. Okay, So
- 26:46Speaker 1: my next question for you is Grandpa can't have liquids
- 26:49Speaker 1: after what time? It's after three three pm?
- 26:52Speaker 3: And lit it up.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Apparently that's a thing where if you are known for
- 26:56Speaker 1: having to go to the toilet a lot throughout the night.
- 26:58Speaker 1: They say, don'tdrink liquids after three pm. Something A long
- 27:01Speaker 1: time ago without water?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Right, it really does.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Maybe if it's like a five thirty bad time off
- 27:05Speaker 1: the wheel of fortune or something.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Maybe maybe I'm not looking forward to my old years
- 27:09Speaker 3: that that's the case. How they going, by the way,
- 27:11Speaker 3: how are they going my old years? Oh? They're fine?
- 27:16Speaker 3: Right again, I alluded to this earlier. What is Quickie
- 27:18Speaker 3: Mart's parent company name? I've got my notes. I'm not
- 27:21Speaker 3: going to check. What is it? Nord Iron Defense Dynamics.
- 27:25Speaker 1: My next question for you is Lionel Huts's law firm
- 27:28Speaker 1: is in between what?
- 27:30Speaker 3: No bankruptcy hearings? It's between stores, I know, but I
- 27:33Speaker 3: don't remember. That's the life for me, yogurt nook and
- 27:36Speaker 3: gum for less, gum for less. What's his store called?
- 27:39Speaker 3: What's his firm called. I can't believe it's not a
- 27:40Speaker 3: law firm. I can't believe it's law.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Which is the same gag they've just said. I can't
- 27:44Speaker 1: believe it. Yeah, the same gag twice. But I mean
- 27:48Speaker 1: obviously his story name came first.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Correct. Yes, I have one more question, speaking of Lionel
- 27:53Speaker 3: Huts after the case against Marge, there is a case
- 27:56Speaker 3: against Lionel Huts. It is being brought by who the
- 27:59Speaker 3: nash All Cancel of Churches. That's right, all right.
- 28:02Speaker 1: My final question for you is how far is it
- 28:05Speaker 1: to Mexico City from Springfield? Because when he is taking off,
- 28:11Speaker 1: you see the sign there's Ogdeville's another one of them,
- 28:13Speaker 1: maybe north Haver Books another one. I'm not too sure,
- 28:15Speaker 1: but I didn't pay attention. It is six hundred and
- 28:18Speaker 1: seventy eight miles.
- 28:20Speaker 3: One good probably surmise where Springfield is in the United States.
- 28:23Speaker 3: From that.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Someone did do that on IMDb. Let's try and find
- 28:26Speaker 1: that person at the time on their hands. People take
- 28:30Speaker 1: that shit seriously, man, Yes, this is from doesn't say
- 28:33Speaker 1: the user's name, but the wide ranging debate discussion about
- 28:36Speaker 1: where in the United States the simpsons hometown of Springfield
- 28:38Speaker 1: is located may have another clue. In this episode, as
- 28:41Speaker 1: jail Birds Snake is towing the entire Quickie Mite building,
- 28:45Speaker 1: he comments that he's taking the thing to Mexico. As
- 28:46Speaker 1: he disappears down the road, a sign on the road
- 28:48Speaker 1: says the distance is six hundred and seventy eight miles,
- 28:50Speaker 1: roughly the distance from Brownsville at the southern tip of
- 28:53Speaker 1: the Texas to the Mexican capital. Driving from anywhere else
- 28:56Speaker 1: in the US would be a longer trip. So Springfield
- 28:59Speaker 1: is now Brownsville. Interesting, Brownsville is a very Simpson's name.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It is Brownsville. Anything else on the IMDb we didn't
- 29:08Speaker 1: talk about the inmate number, of course, two four six
- 29:10Speaker 1: oh one my name is. It's been on various since
- 29:13Speaker 1: the episodes. Remember someone that's got a prison or whatever.
- 29:16Speaker 1: That's that was Marge's inmate number. Actually, there's there's a
- 29:20Speaker 1: few things here as well, but we'll touch on it
- 29:21Speaker 1: when we're doing our full review. Before we do the
- 29:23Speaker 1: full review, of course, we need to give you out
- 29:24Speaker 1: some shout out. Shout them out, starting with the incredible

- 30:11Speaker 1: If you want to support the show, you can do
- 30:12Speaker 1: so by following the Patreon link in the description of
- 30:14Speaker 1: this video slash podcast. All right, mister Davis, So the
- 30:17Speaker 1: original air date of Marche in Chains was May sixth,
- 30:22Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three. Let's do the box office quickly, ninety
- 30:25Speaker 1: ninety three. The crying game is ninety two. What was
- 30:27Speaker 1: ninety three? May ninety three? One quick guess, that's that's
- 30:30Speaker 1: your your time it is, but it was also a
- 30:33Speaker 1: long time ago. Is the fugitive in there? Let's have
- 30:36Speaker 1: a look, may not. If you've got that, that's a
- 30:38Speaker 1: pretty good guess. May six of ninety three. So we've
- 30:40Speaker 1: got indecent proposal number one, Sidekicks is number two with
- 30:44Speaker 1: Chuck Norris went from number eighteen to number two. That's
- 30:48Speaker 1: a big climb, right.
- 30:49Speaker 3: That's the power of Chuck.
- 30:50Speaker 1: It is indeed, number three is Indian Summer.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's a very nice sort of ensemble tale
- 30:56Speaker 3: of kids who went to camp together and cut and reunite.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Has grown Up's got the late Bill Paxton in their
- 31:02Speaker 3: Spider Man director Sam Raimi in an acting role, not
- 31:05Speaker 3: a band of the movie. It's fine. There we go
- 31:07Speaker 3: the top. I'm amazed that made it as high as
- 31:09Speaker 3: number three in the box office.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Yeah, at the US box office. In on May six,
- 31:12Speaker 1: ninety three. The production code nine F two zero, written
- 31:15Speaker 1: by Bill Oakley Josh Weinstein, directed by Jim Reared in
- 31:18Speaker 1: the chopboor Gag, I do not have diplomatic community and
- 31:21Speaker 1: the couch gaz of miniature family climbs onto a normal
- 31:24Speaker 1: sized couch. So the episode kicks.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Off with what I can't believe they invented it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I can't believe they invented it. Products you could only
- 31:31Speaker 1: imagine before. We've got the ss microwave make creaks to them,
- 31:35Speaker 1: guy laying in the pool, the doggy doorman, Good evening,
- 31:38Speaker 1: Rex and the mobile. Ea, the chandelier for the car.
- 31:41Speaker 3: That's pretty good. Yeah.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Then we get to Troy McClure, the man himself. This
- 31:44Speaker 1: is a very Phil Hartman spotlight episode, this one, wasn't there? Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: and stars of such film as he is.
- 31:50Speaker 3: For Psycho and the President's nack is missing.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Now here to tell you all but the remarkable new inventions,
- 31:55Speaker 1: including this one here the juice listener, which was the
- 31:59Speaker 1: only way to get juice from an orange was using
- 32:01Speaker 1: your eye.
- 32:02Speaker 3: I mean there's another way? You love that? You mean
- 32:04Speaker 3: that's the cutter home. Yeah, exactly the same thing. It's
- 32:07Speaker 3: so you mean, there's a better way.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So good, And then Homer can't believe it, as we said.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Then he introduces doctor Nick, who is the inventor of
- 32:15Speaker 1: the juice loosener toy.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Would you like a glass of orange juice?
- 32:19Speaker 3: I sure would?
- 32:20Speaker 2: But won't we have to pay those outrageous grocery store
- 32:23Speaker 2: prices for something the farmer probably spit in?
- 32:26Speaker 3: Not anymore.
- 32:28Speaker 1: It's such such a great infroversial Yeah, it's incredibly loud,
- 32:31Speaker 1: the juice looten.
- 32:32Speaker 3: No, No, it's whisper quiet. It's whisper quiet. Yeah. Then he
- 32:34Speaker 3: gets you got all that it's just one drop drop
- 32:37Speaker 3: of juice, one whole bag of oranges. Yeah, orderly reminded
- 32:40Speaker 3: me of the Peltzer Pela juicer from Gremlins. He did
- 32:43Speaker 3: other Yeah, that's right, Yeah, except that's mostly split that pulp. Yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 3: it's been a little more juice. But yeah, I remember
- 32:49Speaker 3: the toothbrush. Oh yeah, yeah. The bathroom buddy. Yeah, the
- 32:52Speaker 3: bathroom buddy. That's it. Yeah, bath room buddy. What a
- 32:56Speaker 3: good movie. So then, uh do you them? Gremlin's three
- 32:59Speaker 3: is apparently Gather and gain intraction. No, no, no, been
- 33:02Speaker 3: reports in there in the trades going to be written
- 33:05Speaker 3: and directed by Chris Columbus, who wrote the original script
- 33:07Speaker 3: for the first one, will actually happen, they're talking about it.
- 33:11Speaker 3: As long as the Gremlins are all computer computer generated,
- 33:14Speaker 3: that'll take away some of the magic from that, I
- 33:16Speaker 3: think so. But the whole match was that they were
- 33:17Speaker 3: just puppets, and I think viewers and fans of the
- 33:20Speaker 3: visuals would prefer if it doesn't look realistic, they sad puppets,
- 33:24Speaker 3: I think. So that's the charm of it. Right, Let's
- 33:26Speaker 3: see what happens. But you know, apparently they're waiting on
- 33:28Speaker 3: the okay from Big Daddy Steve Spielberg to say, no,
- 33:31Speaker 3: I'm happy to send this out with my name on it.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Jack Gallaghan apparently said, oh it's will I need this
- 33:39Speaker 3: quiet you might remember from such movies as ges for Gremlins.
- 33:47Speaker 1: And Geers Gremlin's too, the New you might remember from
- 33:52Speaker 1: such film Gremlins and nothing else. Sorry, Zach, but they
- 33:55Speaker 1: just tear the streads in the commentary. Oh god, having
- 33:57Speaker 1: Mandel eats him alive and spits him out.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I think I said when we've done think it might Yeah,
- 34:03Speaker 3: talked about that, but also how he just seemed really
- 34:05Speaker 3: kind of thirsty. Yeah, sorry, Zach, what a first trap
- 34:11Speaker 3: indeed anyway. But yeah, So this is where they've done
- 34:14Speaker 3: the information for the juice Loosener. If you order it now,
- 34:17Speaker 3: you get a free thing of sun and run the
- 34:20Speaker 3: lax that the sun lotion that's also a laxative. Mcclup
- 34:22Speaker 3: puts it on and runs off. I've got here.
- 34:25Speaker 1: This whole bit just feels so true to what an
- 34:28Speaker 1: information is because it just feels off the cuff, even
- 34:30Speaker 1: though it's scripted and it's animated. The way the energy
- 34:33Speaker 1: of the room clearly Troy McClure is just riffing here.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And the fact that he didn't do any research onto
- 34:39Speaker 1: what Sun and Run actually makes you know he is,
- 34:42Speaker 1: as we said, he's just a former star who's just
- 34:44Speaker 1: doing what he can to just pay those bills.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Now.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, look, hey didn't he didn't write the stuff, man,
- 34:48Speaker 3: He's just delivering exactly.
- 34:50Speaker 1: So he's just there, just riff and just being Troy mcclum.
- 34:52Speaker 1: You can see Rusty doing this quite well as well.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Oh surely anything Rebuck. Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I used to love watching Good Morning Australia with our
- 34:59Speaker 1: man Bert new and they always have these kind of
- 35:01Speaker 1: informationals on there and but will just get over there.
- 35:02Speaker 1: He's just tearing these products to shreds. Oh yeah, but
- 35:05Speaker 1: that's what they preferred that because well it's giving it
- 35:07Speaker 1: the tick of a brill.
- 35:09Speaker 3: B Bert's left the desk, Yeah, like asking you know,
- 35:11Speaker 3: a cometing to come over to Johnny Carson's. There's like,
- 35:13Speaker 3: oh I made it, yes.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Then Homer calls quickly he wants to drink juice loose weight,
- 35:18Speaker 1: won't get chess pens mention the phone anymore, and it
- 35:21Speaker 1: gets cuts to us in a sucker. Now where they're
- 35:23Speaker 1: packing the loosener the juice listeners into the boxes. And
- 35:26Speaker 1: we've got two guys here who are Unwow, one's got
- 35:28Speaker 1: shdded palvis for the last three weeks and they both laugh.
- 35:31Speaker 1: It's all out of sync. Yes, again a very early
- 35:33Speaker 1: nineties joke. Yeah, they cough into the box, tape it
- 35:35Speaker 1: up and send it on its weight. They're bad taping,
- 35:37Speaker 1: by the way, Yes, who's now professional back in the
- 35:40Speaker 1: old back on the docks.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Mate, Well, gotta make a little scratch anyway you can. So, yeah,
- 35:47Speaker 3: that's that's bad taping.
- 35:48Speaker 1: But more patients, guys back in the factory, we need
- 35:51Speaker 1: more patrons help a brother out, I would say.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Factories back in the warehouse.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Which warehouse worker on a day's work for an honest
- 35:59Speaker 1: day's payment. Yeah, it so, there's but there's many layers
- 36:02Speaker 1: to this, right, So they're mocking. It's mocking the OHNs
- 36:06Speaker 1: of what we think it's like in Asaka of Japan,
- 36:09Speaker 1: even the early nineties. Anyway, Well, the whole salary man thing.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, that work culture in Japan is like you'll
- 36:15Speaker 1: have a job for life, but the job will be
- 36:17Speaker 1: your life. Yeah yeah, but you don't want to see
- 36:19Speaker 1: the whole That lifestyle is very similar to you wouldn't
- 36:22Speaker 1: need a sausage if you know what's it's what's in it, right,
- 36:24Speaker 1: similar to you wouldn't buy that iPhone if you know
- 36:26Speaker 1: who packed it. Oh, yeah, it's just it's not good. No,
- 36:29Speaker 1: you wouldn't it came out if you knew who packed
- 36:31Speaker 1: those anko shoes.
- 36:32Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 36:33Speaker 1: But on that note, there's also the fact that these
- 36:35Speaker 1: workers here think that they're getting one over their boss
- 36:38Speaker 1: by saying, don't tell the boss that I'm sick.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, don't.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I've been working with the show's pubbles for three weeks,
- 36:42Speaker 1: jokes on him. Their mentality is that you should be
- 36:45Speaker 1: working through those injuries, but in reality they should be
- 36:47Speaker 1: at home getting paid to rest up.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Oh exactly, yeah, the whole play through the pain thing.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Then there's the parody of the voices being out of sync,
- 36:54Speaker 1: which he said it was a very offense time thing.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You don't really say it anymore, but usually generally the
- 36:58Speaker 1: parody was though in Japan or whatever, would speak so
- 37:02Speaker 1: many words for it to be like one or two English.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the gag.
- 37:05Speaker 1: But they double down here by it being the laugh
- 37:08Speaker 1: and that's the one that gets dragged out, even the
- 37:10Speaker 1: laughs so longer than when they should be. But then
- 37:13Speaker 1: six to eight weeks later, the loosener arrives. Homer opens
- 37:16Speaker 1: the box and the the fog, the virus comes out,
- 37:19Speaker 1: the virus, your suck of food comes out. Skinner then
- 37:21Speaker 1: tells Agnes to get one of her extra special hugs
- 37:23Speaker 1: ready and then gives it, opens the box and he
- 37:26Speaker 1: gets done by the germs.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Coming under every orifice in his head.
- 37:29Speaker 1: When he says that out loud, this feels very much
- 37:31Speaker 1: man's plaining to the younger audience at home who might
- 37:34Speaker 1: have quite idea what's going on, because it just seems
- 37:38Speaker 1: like just the flu going into every orifice in my head,
- 37:41Speaker 1: making me on well, just explaining that it's not necessarily
- 37:44Speaker 1: man's plaining. I know, the younger women viewers completely understand
- 37:49Speaker 1: fun patting someone as we said, what the birthday gifts?
- 37:53Speaker 1: They both bought each other a juice loosener, and then
- 37:56Speaker 1: the virus is waiting for the traffic lights goes through
- 37:59Speaker 1: and Wigham shoots at it after buying some hot dogs,
- 38:01Speaker 1: and we get the news report.
- 38:02Speaker 3: See it's why this, Yeah, it's the joy of animation. This.
- 38:05Speaker 3: I mean you, I mean you're gonna have people getting
- 38:08Speaker 3: sick in live action sitcoms or live action shows or whatever.
- 38:10Speaker 3: But yeah, having the virus sort of scoot around town
- 38:13Speaker 3: stop it to stop, like like a slasher film. Yeah,
- 38:15Speaker 3: approach wiggam like here like a monster or something like that. Yeah.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I mean, look, you could probably do something like that
- 38:20Speaker 3: and live action, but you'd have your work cut out
- 38:23Speaker 3: for you. But it just makes more sense here, and
- 38:25Speaker 3: it's I know, it's funnier. I just really enjoy it.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I that it stopped for the red lights. That's correct.
- 38:29Speaker 1: It will follow some rules, that's true, some not all,
- 38:32Speaker 1: not all indeed. But then we get the news report
- 38:34Speaker 1: here and it's about how this sucker flu has now
- 38:36Speaker 1: got over three hundred cases in Springfield. This felt it
- 38:39Speaker 1: was always like PTSD. I was like, oh remember when
- 38:42Speaker 1: every morning you wake up to see how many cases
- 38:44Speaker 1: of oh yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 3: The numbers. That was every morning.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It's like eleven ten am every morning, like how many
- 38:49Speaker 1: cases are there? Can we get out of the house yet,
- 38:51Speaker 1: and we're we're still on lockdown?
- 38:52Speaker 3: Okay? Cool?
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, let's just forget that. Ever happened right five years ago? Now,
- 38:57Speaker 1: that's crazy that is crazy. I think we're still feeling
- 39:01Speaker 1: five zero four when it started. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 39:03Speaker 1: still we're still feeling the tail end of it, I think.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, COVID is still out there, people still
- 39:08Speaker 1: get it. But people aren't living the house as much
- 39:10Speaker 1: as they used to though.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Well that's true.
- 39:11Speaker 1: People have worn Oh you know what's better beach being
- 39:13Speaker 1: home by myself, living indoors.
- 39:16Speaker 3: That I was talking about this with the lovely Oh.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I don't, okay, but the people some people are just
- 39:20Speaker 3: some people are mad, but they got so comfortable being home.
- 39:24Speaker 1: It's like, no, I just watch I just stream shit
- 39:26Speaker 1: and just get daw dash or not doors over each
- 39:28Speaker 1: to my door or whatever.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is only paying the sky. And he's
- 39:31Speaker 1: feeling unwell. He's also got the virus. He's over the
- 39:34Speaker 1: twelfth and main yeah root four oh one, twelve and
- 39:36Speaker 1: twelfth and main. He vomits out there with no vomits
- 39:38Speaker 1: onto it Otto who's making on top of the on
- 39:41Speaker 1: top of the building, whatever building it is, then.
- 39:43Speaker 3: But he is.
- 39:45Speaker 1: His temperature is ninety eight point six here, which works
- 39:48Speaker 1: out to be thirty seven degrees celsius, which slightly about
- 39:51Speaker 1: and he's slightly above like thirty six. Thirty six is
- 39:53Speaker 1: supposedly yeah temperature, anything in thirty seven is stuck in
- 39:56Speaker 1: a little like maybe a little bit unwell.
- 39:59Speaker 3: So then he makes do.
- 40:00Speaker 1: It again because she says you're feeling fine, and he
- 40:02Speaker 1: tries to force himself to feel sick, and they keep
- 40:04Speaker 1: the inside of his body. You get the German say,
- 40:06Speaker 1: we keep getting orders to let the virus win, and
- 40:10Speaker 1: it must be a school day.
- 40:11Speaker 3: And then lay down and surrender.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It was a nice touch that the virus had the
- 40:16Speaker 1: voice of snake. Yeah, but I definitely tried this when
- 40:19Speaker 1: I was a kid. You know, from time to time
- 40:21Speaker 1: you'd wake up and you just feel like I just
- 40:22Speaker 1: don't want to go to school, and I know I'm
- 40:24Speaker 1: not unwell, and he would always almost like, try and
- 40:26Speaker 1: give yourself a.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Headache, right, I'm not unwell enough. Yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Did you ever be where we try to give yourself
- 40:30Speaker 1: like a try to make yourself hotter, I'll try to
- 40:32Speaker 1: give yourself a headache.
- 40:32Speaker 3: I never did, now some reason. I must have been
- 40:34Speaker 3: a really goodie goodie. I mean I never sort of
- 40:37Speaker 3: tried to convince the folks like, oh, I'm too sick
- 40:39Speaker 3: to go to school. Today.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I always yeah, I did, I never did, but yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 1: And there was always that moment of throwing the pitch out,
- 40:48Speaker 1: waiting for the results. Is she going to buy it?
- 40:50Speaker 1: And the days when she goes fine, just go to
- 40:52Speaker 1: n hands. I was like, yes, doon't want pie for lunch,
- 40:56Speaker 1: homemade chips? That doesn't pretty much ready, steady Cook Morning Australia, Judge,
- 41:01Speaker 1: Judy All the show, Bitting the Beast. Now we'd watch
- 41:04Speaker 1: her stories which were, I mean, it's still on right,
- 41:06Speaker 1: Young and the Restless, and summer what's young and the Restless?
- 41:09Speaker 1: And days of our lives, our lives. Man, whenever hear
- 41:12Speaker 1: that music, I us think of Nan NaN's house. This

- 41:44Speaker 1: the cold Pack on his head sitting there watching Itching
- 41:45Speaker 1: and Scratchy the germs of endearment. It's nice when an
- 41:48Speaker 1: Itching Scratchy cartoon is relevant corresponds with the episode. You
- 41:52Speaker 1: can almost say that Itchy and Scratchy is the South
- 41:54Speaker 1: Park of Springfield because they are doing an episode based
- 41:59Speaker 1: on something that's popular right now, like South Pack, have
- 42:02Speaker 1: the ability if something happened yesterday, next week's episode of
- 42:05Speaker 1: South Park could genuinely just be about that. It doesn't
- 42:10Speaker 1: have as much substance to it, it's just the cat
- 42:11Speaker 1: and the mouse kill each other, but the ability to
- 42:13Speaker 1: be able to produce an episode timely in a timely manner,
- 42:16Speaker 1: very much like South Buck. But then laughs but actually coughs,
- 42:20Speaker 1: and the episode is interrupted by a message from Quimby,
- 42:23Speaker 1: who says he's canceled his holiday to the Bahamas, but
- 42:25Speaker 1: turns out he hasn't. The guy works past, walks past,
- 42:28Speaker 1: playing the steel drum, still drums that. Okay, yes, clearly
- 42:30Speaker 1: this is meant to be a take of for a
- 42:31Speaker 1: lot of politicians who do this.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Apparently it's happened with Ted Cruz.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yes, and I remember scom I got in a
- 42:38Speaker 1: lot of trouble when the shola was like on fire.
- 42:41Speaker 3: That's look, he didn't really try to deceive anyone that
- 42:44Speaker 3: I mean, he just wasn't here.
- 42:46Speaker 1: He wasn't he didn't come back. Let me know what's
- 42:49Speaker 1: going guys. But he doesn't pick up hoose no no
- 42:53Speaker 1: Burns and says he's he's not worried that because he's
- 42:55Speaker 1: come up with this like germ proof hideout. But turns
- 42:57Speaker 1: out home's already in there eating a sandwich of some sort,
- 42:59Speaker 1: and use this is the whole My name is mister Burns. Yes,
- 43:02Speaker 1: goes back to that one. Then the mob of demanding
- 43:04Speaker 1: a cure from Hibittu standing on top of the clinic.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I guess he is, yes, yeah, and he says the
- 43:08Speaker 1: only cure is bed rest. He says anything he gives
- 43:10Speaker 1: to them is simply a placebo. It's just on their head.
- 43:13Speaker 1: A placebo for those who aren't aware. Is just when
- 43:16Speaker 1: they give you something to make you think you're getting better,
- 43:18Speaker 1: when really it's just all ahead a little sugar pill.
- 43:22Speaker 1: This happened recently. Elliott had to get a blood test
- 43:24Speaker 1: last week for his foot injury in a moonboot. At
- 43:28Speaker 1: the moment, young Elliott and they told us they have
- 43:31Speaker 1: numbing cream.
- 43:32Speaker 3: They're right.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And we get there and I said, you have the cream,
- 43:34Speaker 1: clut Tod, don't worry about it has numbing cream. And
- 43:36Speaker 1: she goes, oh, we don't have any of that. You
- 43:37Speaker 1: can buy it from my chemist's warehouse. I'm like, oh, okay, cool.
- 43:40Speaker 1: She goes, but you have to wait an hour before
- 43:41Speaker 1: it starts working. Okay, so we buy this cream. Blah
- 43:43Speaker 1: blah blah, either get the blood test dout. He still
- 43:45Speaker 1: feels it. He realizes now needles aren't anything to be
- 43:48Speaker 1: scared about it.
- 43:48Speaker 3: But it didn't work.
- 43:49Speaker 1: And afterwards she goes, yeah, it doesn't really work. It's
- 43:51Speaker 1: just so the kids think in their heads that it's
- 43:53Speaker 1: actually numbing the skin to make him feel like it's
- 43:54Speaker 1: less painful.
- 43:55Speaker 3: And I'm like, you could have told me this story
- 43:56Speaker 3: went to chemists ware I'm like, I went to spend
- 43:58Speaker 3: twenty bucks on cream. Yeah.
- 44:00Speaker 1: But she's like, because Aliott was really nervous. But she said,
- 44:04Speaker 1: I didn't say it. But in reality, if I didn't
- 44:06Speaker 1: go and do that, Elliot would have panted because he
- 44:08Speaker 1: thought he was getting numbing cream. Sure, if the idea
- 44:10Speaker 1: of numbing cream wasn't addressed, in the first place, then
- 44:12Speaker 1: he wouldn't have been thinking about it. But then when
- 44:14Speaker 1: he was told I wouldn't have any he immediately went, oh, no,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I need that cream because I was told it would
- 44:18Speaker 1: hurt less. So that's when I had to go and
- 44:20Speaker 1: by maybe it's a scheme they got going on a
- 44:22Speaker 1: scheme with it. With my chemist way, I was like,
- 44:25Speaker 1: you can just go down the road and get some cream,
- 44:26Speaker 1: like and shit. And then afterwards she don't believe in
- 44:29Speaker 1: conspiracy theories. And then afterwards she's just like it doesn't
- 44:32Speaker 1: really work. I'm like, fine, say it, don't believe it,
- 44:36Speaker 1: but you should. But then I said to Aliott, I said,
- 44:39Speaker 1: see I didn't really wait that well, didn't He goes, noe,
- 44:40Speaker 1: but did it hurt? And he goes not really like see,
- 44:42Speaker 1: see it's fine, mate, I said, needles aready because blood
- 44:45Speaker 1: tests are in for like twenty seconds or so getting blood out.
- 44:47Speaker 1: He said, needles in and out. And he goes, I'm
- 44:49Speaker 1: not scared of needles anymore. I'm like, good man, good.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Shout out to Ali.
- 44:51Speaker 1: He was very brave, your little sticker that said, I
- 44:53Speaker 1: was brave, getting brave as a lion getting my blood
- 44:55Speaker 1: tests and he wore it with pride. She would wouldn't
- 44:59Speaker 1: be a lying He now puts it. He put it
- 45:01Speaker 1: on the inside of the door in the car, so
- 45:02Speaker 1: now whenever gets out of the car, is like, oh,
- 45:04Speaker 1: I was as brave as a lion when I got
- 45:06Speaker 1: my blood test. And I'm like, you were, but sure
- 45:07Speaker 1: you were good. He was very brave though, so shout
- 45:10Speaker 1: out to him. But as I was saying, he says,
- 45:12Speaker 1: he's going to give you pisbos. Can we get these pisinbos?
- 45:15Speaker 1: And they see the truck. In this truck truck, they
- 45:17Speaker 1: smash it over. Killer bees coming out?
- 45:18Speaker 3: Is it killer bees? Bees? Just bees? Yes? And he
- 45:21Speaker 3: eats it.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I mean, oh, Todd is now speaking in tongues what
- 45:24Speaker 1: they think he is, But no, he's just delirious from fever.
- 45:27Speaker 3: What does he say? Long for the day?
- 45:28Speaker 1: Yeah, And Maud asked God why God has forsaken them
- 45:32Speaker 1: and then realizes he once laughed at a married with
- 45:34Speaker 1: children gag him out a limp plant.
- 45:37Speaker 3: He kept you in bed, you air the pig. I
- 45:43Speaker 3: love how they do a fairly faithful O'Neal. And Katie's
- 45:46Speaker 3: gold sort.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Of looks just like yeah, I guess because it was
- 45:50Speaker 1: a Fox property. They didn't want to really take the
- 45:52Speaker 1: mickey out of it anyway, But yeah, as he said
- 45:54Speaker 1: the slogan, watch Fox and be damn for all eternity.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Now Marge is trying to keep the house running and
- 45:58Speaker 1: looking very disheveled. Lisa once moj butt on some flintstone
- 46:01Speaker 1: chewable morphine or chuble flintstone morphine. Homer says, the boys
- 46:05Speaker 1: wasting valuable time, come and change the channel and pat
- 46:07Speaker 1: my head. Is Homer actually sick or is he just
- 46:10Speaker 1: being a nuisance? I think he's man. Yes, sit, how
- 46:14Speaker 1: are you when you're sick? I get annoyed because I
- 46:17Speaker 1: want to be able to do work. Because when I'm sick,
- 46:20Speaker 1: I can't do my work.
- 46:21Speaker 3: I tend to be just leave me alone. It's like
- 46:23Speaker 3: people will be saying, oh, can I bring your sandwich?
- 46:25Speaker 3: And bring no? No, no, I'll be fine, be fine,
- 46:27Speaker 3: not gon over in a couple of days. So I
- 46:29Speaker 3: don't subscribe to the whole Oh I'm so sick, help
- 46:32Speaker 3: me out or whatever it's like. But yeah, just give
- 46:34Speaker 3: me a couple of days to sleep it off. Yeah, hip,
- 46:36Speaker 3: it's right. The only cure is bed rest. Nick Nicholas says.
- 46:39Speaker 1: She goes, I know when you're actually sick because you
- 46:40Speaker 1: decort to go to the bedroom and just go to sleep.
- 46:42Speaker 1: She goes, you, you don't do that because you see
- 46:45Speaker 1: every I look at you, and you look at every
- 46:47Speaker 1: possible time you are awake as a time to do
- 46:50Speaker 1: work for your fucking podcast. So when you are going
- 46:52Speaker 1: to sleep, I know you must be unwell. Like it's
- 46:56Speaker 1: just it's annoying. But my brain, this never turns off.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I'm constantly thinking what can I post next, what could
- 47:02Speaker 1: I do next? How can we improve? What can I do?
- 47:04Speaker 3: And it's just it's it's exhausting. Can you bring me more?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Jay?
- 47:10Speaker 3: Can you give me some of those Bristow's chewlbral morphine.
- 47:13Speaker 1: There's no such.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Thing, Marge, the boys wasting valuable time. Come change the
- 47:18Speaker 2: channel and pat my head in a minute, Miss flow.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Ball, and give me a bottle of bourbon. Grandpa. You
- 47:26Speaker 3: know you can't have liquids after three pm.
- 47:28Speaker 4: You can stir it into my mush either way.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Just give me, gimme, gimme.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Then Marge's at the QUICKI mautas. This is where it
- 47:35Speaker 1: all goes down. She's hearing all the voices of the
- 47:37Speaker 1: family whining. You're seeing their faces when she takes away
- 47:40Speaker 1: stuff off the shelf, and eventually the entire supermoker shehoves
- 47:42Speaker 1: is filled with their heads complaining. And she gets to
- 47:45Speaker 1: the check out ask for a bottle of aspirin as
- 47:47Speaker 1: well for her self. I'm gonna assume it's twenty five dollars.
- 47:49Speaker 1: He dropped the price because an escape mental patient tempered
- 47:52Speaker 1: with the bottle. She then goes to leave, but unfortunately
- 47:55Speaker 1: the alarm goes off, which puzzles her. I think I
- 47:58Speaker 1: love why they animated her. She's just genuinely for sure.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Have you even gone through like a k Mart and
- 48:02Speaker 1: it's gone off and you're just like you immediately think
- 48:05Speaker 1: what did I steal? You know you haven't stolen some
- 48:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah. It's like when you see I've mentioned this before,
- 48:09Speaker 1: when you see a breath o and you go, oh
- 48:11Speaker 1: what have you? Haven't drun anything? It's three o'clock and
- 48:14Speaker 1: you just pick the kids up fro school?
- 48:15Speaker 3: Yeah, or you just see red and blues in there
- 48:17Speaker 3: in the rare vision mirror. It's like, what's my speed
- 48:19Speaker 3: come from? Me? Yeah? Yeah, I don't really feel that anymore.
- 48:23Speaker 3: If I'm walking out of came or any department store
- 48:25Speaker 3: where you know you know them, we are going up.
- 48:28Speaker 3: I make you scan it came out. No, I don't
- 48:29Speaker 3: know that's true. But there's maybe like a microsecond of
- 48:33Speaker 3: like did I do something wrong?
- 48:34Speaker 4: Is it me?
- 48:35Speaker 3: Are they coming for me? And then you realize, look,
- 48:37Speaker 3: I haven't done anything wrong and easily talk my way
- 48:39Speaker 3: out of this.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Even when I've done something wrong, I can easily took
- 48:43Speaker 1: my way out of the s. Sure, well, when's the
- 48:46Speaker 1: last time you stole something? You said you still a
- 48:48Speaker 1: lot when you were kid? Right, I didn't see a
- 48:50Speaker 1: lot when I was a kid, but I stole someone
- 48:51Speaker 1: was it was just little books?
- 48:54Speaker 3: Books? Wow? Was all these books? A couple of bookstores?
- 48:58Speaker 1: Try to steal a book once court and I never
- 49:00Speaker 1: did it again.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Like a busted trying to pin some sunglasses and then wow,
- 49:05Speaker 3: what did you put them on your head and just
- 49:06Speaker 3: walk out? That's correct. I'll just put them on my
- 49:07Speaker 3: face with the tag and down. That's correct? Is actually
- 49:10Speaker 3: what you did?
- 49:10Speaker 1: No?
- 49:10Speaker 3: Oh, but I got bustard. And how were you at
- 49:14Speaker 3: this time? I was probably at seventeen okay, and I
- 49:16Speaker 3: never did it again. I was scared straight, Yeah, don't
- 49:19Speaker 3: do what Donnie don't does. Did I leave a message
- 49:21Speaker 3: on there on the No, No, there was no. I
- 49:24Speaker 3: was worried that might be the case. Yeah, but yeah,
- 49:28Speaker 3: I think I've really sort of gone off for the
- 49:29Speaker 3: warning more than anything else. I had to go up
- 49:31Speaker 3: to the store, deteck, what did you Yes? Yeah, I
- 49:34Speaker 3: got the Simpson treatment and say yeah, well it's pretty gnarly.
- 49:38Speaker 3: I was a be worried there.
- 49:39Speaker 1: There was that time I got accused of shop living
- 49:41Speaker 1: in a big w in Geelong and one of my
- 49:42Speaker 1: life and I was like, mate, you're a store fucking
- 49:45Speaker 1: security guy. I had to give you ship like. He's like,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I'll call the police. I'm call the police. I've stolen nothing.
- 49:50Speaker 1: It was because they bought something using my phone after pay.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I didn't have a receipt. He's like, there's a receipt
- 49:56Speaker 1: from targeting. It's after pay right there. He's like, no,
- 49:58Speaker 1: I need a physical receipt. I'm like, way twenty five,
- 50:00Speaker 1: you're blithering full did making friends all over.
- 50:04Speaker 3: To this receipts in twenty twenty five? Who uses cards anymore? So?
- 50:10Speaker 1: Then she yeah, so she's been she gets accused of
- 50:12Speaker 1: we're not quite accused of shoplifting who tries to play
- 50:14Speaker 1: it cool. He says, the son Jay happy with their bags,
- 50:16Speaker 1: but speaks in Hindi to essentially, this is what he says,
- 50:19Speaker 1: So I looked it up what he actually says. So
- 50:21Speaker 1: I had a terrible fear in watching this episode. Yeah, like,
- 50:25Speaker 1: are they actually speaking Hindi or are they?
- 50:27Speaker 3: Yeah? Are they being very early nineties?
- 50:29Speaker 1: It sounds very Simpsons nineteen ninety three for them to
- 50:32Speaker 1: just do that, right, Hey, Hank, just say something, just
- 50:35Speaker 1: make some stuff up. But no one's watching this outside
- 50:38Speaker 1: the US or I don't think they're watching this in
- 50:40Speaker 1: yeah India. Yeah, but the writers Bill and Josh were
- 50:44Speaker 1: smart enough to go, let's not do that.
- 50:46Speaker 3: They dotted i's and crossed t's. Yeah, because later on,
- 50:49Speaker 3: I mean, we talk about pie. And apparently they did
- 50:52Speaker 3: their research, because what.
- 50:53Speaker 1: They did was they called the Embassy of India in
- 50:55Speaker 1: Washington to get them to translate it to make sure
- 50:57Speaker 1: there was actually all said correctly.
- 50:59Speaker 3: They didn't they embassy sort of saying okay, fine.
- 51:01Speaker 1: He says, they said the embassy was not interested or happy,
- 51:04Speaker 1: but they still did it. I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed,
- 51:11Speaker 1: just confused. Who are you Why are you calling me?
- 51:13Speaker 1: But the translation was this is some guy on Reddit.
- 51:16Speaker 1: He's given it a crack and it says there's very
- 51:18Speaker 1: something similar. That's some jay on Reddit of some guy
- 51:20Speaker 1: some guy and read it. Yes, the cream of it
- 51:22Speaker 1: says her coach in that direction. Look, So it's something
- 51:26Speaker 1: on the lines of looking her coat around the pocket direction. Yes,
- 51:29Speaker 1: and he approves by saying something on the lines of yes,
- 51:31Speaker 1: I'll do that quickly right away, something that implies that Okay, yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 1: it's not nonsense.
- 51:37Speaker 3: It seems like some jay is more of the smartest.
- 51:39Speaker 3: He's like, oh.
- 51:41Speaker 1: That's apparably just something like I'll check right away, but
- 51:44Speaker 1: yeah pooh said something like just check her coat pocket
- 51:46Speaker 1: or what something on those lines. But there's any Indian
- 51:49Speaker 1: viewers or listeners out there who want to completely translate
- 51:52Speaker 1: it legit for us, we'd love to hear from you
- 51:54Speaker 1: guys as well.
- 51:54Speaker 3: We sure would.
- 51:55Speaker 1: And by the way, consider being a patron Yes, mailbag,
- 51:57Speaker 1: four finger discount, dot com, dot you or comment below
- 51:59Speaker 1: in the video. So he checks her pocket, finds the
- 52:03Speaker 1: Colonel Quickie Mark. See Colonel Quickie Mark, Kentucky Bourbon.
- 52:06Speaker 3: That's a great name. Isn't it who it is?
- 52:08Speaker 1: And the police cars arrive. They are two cups of
- 52:11Speaker 1: coffee auto Freshenet of capricorn and something with coconut. It
- 52:14Speaker 1: just seems crazy that four cop cars are rocked up
- 52:17Speaker 1: because Marge has taken some bourbon. But hey, for the
- 52:19Speaker 1: second of the story, let's just.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Go with it. That's the thing. I mean, you had,
- 52:22Speaker 3: as I said before, certain people taking issue where it's like,
- 52:24Speaker 3: why are there so many cops coming from March. It's like,
- 52:26Speaker 3: come on, guys, really, it's just a story. This is
- 52:29Speaker 3: what you're taking issue with.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's now time for them to go see
- 52:32Speaker 1: Huts at the I can't believe it's a law firm.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Now, Marge, you've come to the right place by hiring
- 52:38Speaker 2: me as your lawyer. You also get this smoking monkey.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Better get down there, smoky mist huts. Look, he's taking
- 52:46Speaker 2: another puff.
- 52:48Speaker 1: I love the genuine excitement of he's taking another puff.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you take another look at these thing. It's great, just.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Great, Phil Line, Phil Line reading for that. Better cut
- 52:57Speaker 1: down there with Smoky. He's more interested in this than
- 53:01Speaker 1: actually helping Margin at this point, greatest toever. But Margin's
- 53:04Speaker 1: not interested in the smoking monkey. She says, it's all
- 53:05Speaker 1: a misunderstanding. But then this is where he realized, Oh no,
- 53:09Speaker 1: we've got Judge Schneyder, and why is that an issue?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Well, he's got its had it in for him ever
- 53:14Speaker 3: since he ran over his dog. Oh he kind of
- 53:16Speaker 3: ran over he's kind of ran over his well, yeah,
- 53:18Speaker 3: and replaced kind of with a repeatedly and replaced dog
- 53:20Speaker 3: with the son.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Yes, another great reading harmon. This is what Homer says, Oh,
- 53:24Speaker 1: look I'll go speak to a pooh. He'll be reasonable,
- 53:26Speaker 1: and then I'm his best customer. I'm sure he'll let
- 53:29Speaker 1: you off. Because of them just celebrating. But are they
- 53:32Speaker 1: celebrating Marge being caught? I've never quite got this.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Here's the yeah, I mean, why are they celebrating? This
- 53:37Speaker 3: is in a civil case, they're not about to get damages?
- 53:40Speaker 1: Yeah, what is that is? It just always just just
- 53:42Speaker 1: how they hang out. It's just so bizarre they're celebrating
- 53:45Speaker 1: and hums like, can we not do this? And they said,
- 53:47Speaker 1: we're putting that bitch on ice to the fully send
- 53:50Speaker 1: of the law due to our apparent company, norde Iron
- 53:53Speaker 1: Defense Dynamics. It's just like, okay, sure, it's a. It's
- 53:57Speaker 1: a cheap line to get a cheap laugh the bitch
- 53:59Speaker 1: on Arsley. But this is where the reputation of Marge
- 54:01Speaker 1: just really goes down the toilet. People just really just
- 54:04Speaker 1: being horrible. So Wigham blabs to Quimby in the sauna
- 54:07Speaker 1: about don't tell anybody, but then it cuts to him
- 54:09Speaker 1: at the rally just spoiling to everybody, then spoils the
- 54:11Speaker 1: crying game as well. Then we're at the card game,
- 54:13Speaker 1: which I'm ashimming. Is that the love joys Hibbitt and
- 54:16Speaker 1: Hoover there as well. She at the love Joy's house
- 54:18Speaker 1: because they're both there, and she says Miss Hoover says
- 54:21Speaker 1: one time she made gingerbread men but had a hair
- 54:23Speaker 1: in one. Hibbitt says that Marge has web toes. I
- 54:26Speaker 1: love the deverish delivery of please from Lovejoy.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Here's gross.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Flanners says, don't worry though, because she's having dinner at
- 54:38Speaker 1: Margin at Flanner's house. You know we've all had our
- 54:40Speaker 1: runnings or brushes with the law. Is this Ed Flanders? Nope,
- 54:43Speaker 1: Ma misteak. Then Marge goes to Fresh Enough and just
- 54:46Speaker 1: the note from Flanner's wiping his mouth I'll go check
- 54:48Speaker 1: on her.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Yes, you do that.
- 54:50Speaker 1: She looks through the wall and Marge tries to fix
- 54:52Speaker 1: the frame because that's just march, just like washing hand.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Anyone with OCD would try and fix that frame. Crooked
- 54:58Speaker 1: frame drives me insane.
- 54:59Speaker 3: What particularly crooked?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and wash your hands and get out. And she's
- 55:02Speaker 1: looking through the God Bless you sign as he said,
- 55:04Speaker 1: it's a psycho reference. Now a friend of mine, friend
- 55:06Speaker 1: of ours actually Tash from the LPC. She has her
- 55:09Speaker 1: own store in al And Town called Cate Cult Right,
- 55:13Speaker 1: check it out. Go to Kate Culton, Geelong for the
- 55:15Speaker 1: best desserts in Geelong. Our friend Tash cooks them on side.
- 55:18Speaker 1: But she has a lot of I'll get to the
- 55:20Speaker 1: point in a second. She has a lot of art
- 55:21Speaker 1: prints around the place, which are just paintings from op
- 55:24Speaker 1: shops and whatnot, but she has painted Simpsons characters into them.
- 55:27Speaker 1: So there's one where it's just the out back trees
- 55:30Speaker 1: and it's a damn and she's painted the Prime Minister
- 55:33Speaker 1: Andy and Tobias' dad and what Bruno Drundrig where his
- 55:36Speaker 1: name is just looking at him Andy to stuff like
- 55:38Speaker 1: that's great. But my point being that She's also created
- 55:41Speaker 1: a new device, which is the God Bless You thing
- 55:43Speaker 1: right that you put on the wall, and it's got
- 55:45Speaker 1: the eye behind it and the eye moves left and right.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Oh.
- 55:48Speaker 1: That it's like having your own God Bless Your sign
- 55:50Speaker 1: with more looking through the wall. She's super smart.
- 55:54Speaker 3: I haven't heard of a brain working overtime like that
- 55:56Speaker 3: since Brendan Dan. But she Yeah.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I will host a link for her store in the
- 56:00Speaker 1: description of this video and this podcast, and you can
- 56:02Speaker 1: check out her stuff.
- 56:03Speaker 3: It is fantastic.
- 56:03Speaker 1: You can buy those those paintings as prince as well.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Yeah, do it.
- 56:07Speaker 1: It's great indeed, Yeah, just great cakes at a Mars
- 56:10Speaker 1: bar slice.
- 56:11Speaker 3: It was delicious. Okay.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Then yeah, so they've kicked Marge out of the house
- 56:15Speaker 1: or told it to get out, then there's time for
- 56:17Speaker 1: the court case. And the blue headed lawyer he's you're
- 56:19Speaker 1: a bit, I'll let.
- 56:20Speaker 3: You take it away. Well you do, Oh no, he's
- 56:21Speaker 3: just he is so confident in the of Marge Simpsons
- 56:24Speaker 3: guilt that he can waste the juries time, but waste
- 56:26Speaker 3: the courts room time. Yes, by rating the super hunk.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Super hunks, Indeed, who is the biggest hunk? Mel Gibbs,
- 56:32Speaker 1: ninety three Mel Gibson or ninety three Crews.
- 56:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna say ninety three Gibson.
- 56:37Speaker 1: I agree, ninety three Gibson for all his faults. Now,
- 56:40Speaker 1: ninety three Gibson is a far bigger hunk than ninety
- 56:42Speaker 1: three Crews in my opinion.
- 56:44Speaker 3: Not an unhandsome man, not an ugly man. Ninety ninety
- 56:47Speaker 3: three Tom Cruise. But yeah, I think Mel pips him
- 56:50Speaker 3: at the post. Just feels like he was a bigger
- 56:51Speaker 3: action star, a tough guy. For me, a hunk is
- 56:54Speaker 3: a guy that can beat share the people, right, I think,
- 56:57Speaker 3: what's your definition of a hunk? Oh? I think a
- 56:58Speaker 3: hunk is many things, to many things. See, when I
- 57:01Speaker 3: generally think you're thinking of a hulk, I'm thinking a
- 57:04Speaker 3: hunk is usually like, that's a good looking chunk of man.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Is what a lady or meat or a gentleman who
- 57:10Speaker 3: feels that way? What a hunk? Yeah? So, look, it
- 57:14Speaker 3: might be a combination of all things. But no, I
- 57:15Speaker 3: think Mel is probably the super hunk of this particular time.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Yea indeed, But yeah, so it's just no going Marge's way.
- 57:21Speaker 3: The blue head lawyer is on his game, and Lonald
- 57:23Speaker 3: Hunts is not is he? Oh no, no, maybe not
- 57:27Speaker 3: a good lawyer. He's gonna win.
- 57:30Speaker 1: We have Helen love joined the stand and we need
- 57:32Speaker 1: to put it out there that Helen Lovejoy was probably
- 57:35Speaker 1: the worst possible person in Springfield to be in the
- 57:38Speaker 1: quick amount at the time of this happen.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Oh absolutely not just looking for the worst in just
- 57:43Speaker 3: about everyone.
- 57:43Speaker 1: As the wife of the minist I'm privy to a
- 57:45Speaker 1: lot of information, and here it is my husband doesn
- 57:48Speaker 1: doesn't earn much. The family is a mess. And then
- 57:51Speaker 1: made the drinking drink. That's fantastic. Let it be known
- 57:55Speaker 1: that drinking drinking emotion.
- 57:57Speaker 3: As I said, there are some lines in this that
- 57:59Speaker 3: just enter the collective consciousness. And I'm pretty sure drinking
- 58:02Speaker 3: drinking I said them a lot in this part of you.
- 58:04Speaker 3: But it's been used many times by many people. I'm
- 58:06Speaker 3: sure the drinking drinking, it's just hilarious to say. Frink.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Then shows the subruta. Subruta is just called the pretty film. Yeah,
- 58:14Speaker 1: the JFK sassination and March's Hairs behind at the Grassy Knoll,
- 58:17Speaker 1: basically just JFK. The film probably just come out, was
- 58:21Speaker 1: that early nineties, Yeah, ninety one one. Yes, it was
- 58:24Speaker 1: still a thing. Yeah, signe, we're doing parodies of it
- 58:26Speaker 1: and whatnot. Was almost like the JFK saessination became a thing.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Again, very much.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, So who's now in the stand just being
- 58:33Speaker 1: an obnoxious jerk?
- 58:34Speaker 3: Really?
- 58:35Speaker 1: So Huts is well, first of all, Huts is hole
- 58:37Speaker 1: in the bourbon and then he realizes, oh, you want
- 58:38Speaker 1: me to drink you and then he races off and
- 58:41Speaker 1: he gets calls his AA sponsor, who is David Crosby
- 58:44Speaker 1: actually voiced by David Crosby. Correct, Now you know the
- 58:48Speaker 1: story behind this, yes, yes, So basically he says here
- 58:50Speaker 1: to him, take them one day at a time, and
- 58:51Speaker 1: know that I love you. There's two things here. Not
- 58:53Speaker 1: only is that a reference to the lyrics of their
- 58:55Speaker 1: song Teach your children, Yes, about they say and I
- 58:58Speaker 1: love you? But Phil Harmon also designed the logo for Crosby,
- 59:02Speaker 1: Stills and Nash.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I mean I think one of the writers
- 59:05Speaker 3: here says oh Phil developed or created an album cover Crosby,
- 59:10Speaker 3: Stills Nash. That's not the case. He did their logo
- 59:13Speaker 3: album cover. He did a lot of album covers.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Over forty well. He was a graphic designer before he
- 59:17Speaker 1: became a comedian.
- 59:18Speaker 3: What a man? Oh? Absolutely, but no, that the logo
- 59:23Speaker 3: for Crosby, Stills and Nash, I say, there's all due
- 59:26Speaker 3: respect to Phil who we love. And a door not
- 59:27Speaker 3: the best logo. Yeah, it's pretty plain. It's kind of ugly.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Yeah, then Huts ask a Pooh if he's ever forgotten something.
- 59:34Speaker 1: He's like, no, no, it never happens. He goes, I
- 59:36Speaker 1: can recite Pie to forty thousand places. The last digit
- 59:39Speaker 1: is one Oakley in one scene, of course, being the
- 59:41Speaker 1: sticklers for details. Yeah, they prepared for this scene by
- 59:45Speaker 1: asking David H. Bailey of the National Aeronautics that sounds
- 59:49Speaker 1: like NASA is is NASA? Yeah, the National I've never
- 59:53Speaker 1: I've never.
- 59:54Speaker 3: What you've never wanted? What naturally? That? NASA actually stands, No,
- 59:57Speaker 3: you did you? What's NASA? Unlike the bad taste joke,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: it doesn't actually mean need another seven astronauts.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: For the number of the forty thousands decimal place of
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Pie and Bailey. Davida's Bailey sent them back a print
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: out of the first forty thousand digits.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: And here's the thing. How would they have received this?
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Probably by a fact, it.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Would have been hundred percent. Oh my god, how many facts,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: how many sheets.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: How many pages are coming through it? Yeah?
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: So then, of course the great button to this is
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: hom aging.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Mm pie Hats.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Then asked what color his tie is, and it's a
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: red and white striped tire in a half windson knot
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: something that.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: May shuck and discrete. You, I'm not wearing a tie
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: at all, but just the vamping while he's getting it round. Yeah,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I'm not wearing a tie at all.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I'm not wearing it. It's so confident and the jury
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: believes it. Who then questions himself no further questions as
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: the ti tanking out of his sleeve. This sums up
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: the sheer stupidity of Springfield, because yes, we have to
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: suspend our disbelief. Then he turned and faced to the courtroom,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: arguably the jury as well. All this in front of them,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: so we're supposed to believe that they didn't see that.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: But still it's funny, it is. This show is brought

- 1:01:32Speaker 1: over dinner Now, Hut says to the kids, I don't
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: think your mum's going to be going to prison. They're
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: all happy, and Lisa compares him to a modern day
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Clarence Darrow. Is it the black guy from the Mod Squad? No,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: that is who guy.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: That is Clarence Williams, the third, a fine, fine actor,
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: no longer with us, but yeah he played link on
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: the Mod Squad. Ah, yeah, which we can and that's correct. Yeah,
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: I mean you're aware of the Mod Squad. Now that's
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: about the eighteen it's closer to twenty one Jump Street.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Hard to not watch any of those three shows. Okay,
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: this is the height of the counterculture, you know. But
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: so you're hippies, you got all that kind of business.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: But TV doesn't really want to see too much about that.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: But they do love cop shows, so what they what
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: you've got is like, well, yeah, there's all manner of crime,
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: you know, with the kids these days. But you know,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: they're not going to accept a square like me with
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: my coat and tie. We're gonna have to send in
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: some more modern types. We're gonna have to make a
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: mod squad. And so you've got a white dude, a
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: white girl, and a black dude.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: So the twenty twenty five version of the Mod Squad
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: would be guys who meet modifications to PlayStations.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: And your computer needed boost in get the Mod Squad.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: Uh yeah, and you actually remade it into a movie
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: ba Can like the late nineties with like clear Danes. Really, yeah,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: it is. It called the Mod Squad. It's called the
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Mod Squad. Memory.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: It was like, no, at the beginning of the trend,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: we don't want this Books of Hazard, we got the
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Starsky in Hutch was another one the A team.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: We talked about this on the movie with Marlin Davis.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: I believe.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I got TV shows just getting reboots, correct, Yeah,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: none of them.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Really all that good. No, When I think when we
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: talked about Mission Impossible, the fact yeah that during the
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: nineties was like, let's get all these TV shows and
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: make them to me, and they're exactly two good ones.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: You're a fan of swat, aren't you? No, not really.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I thought you said you're a fan of SWAT. You
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: thought because Colin Farrell was in it. I'm pretty sure
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you said you were a fan of SWAP. You talked
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: about Colin Farrell is a Colin Farrell film that you
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: were a fan of, and let it was like it
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: was Miami Vice Momy Vice. I apologized, Yes, I knew
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: it had Colin Farrell in it. Colin Colin Farrell is
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: in both Swatt. Yeah, yes, indeed, because it's not a
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: TV show, it's what is a TV show?
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Is T show? It came from the seventies. Yeah, it's
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: not that great if you want a good laugh. I'm
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: not sure if it is the opening credits of SWAT,
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: but was something I saw recently when I was doing
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: one of my YouTube deep dives. It was like an
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: opening credits thing, and all the members of the SWAT
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: team are like when they introduce them, they're like jumping
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: through windows or doing these really impractical kind of moves
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: that just show how cool they are.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: It's like, this just doesn't seem right. Yes, but oh
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: he's in SWAT, but he was in Miami Vice. Swat
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: not a good movie. Mimy Vice A great movie.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Not Clarence Darrow either. Not Clarence Darrow. Shall we talk
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: a bit about Clarence Darrow.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Yeah, he is known, he made He became famous in
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the nineteenth century, I believe. I don't think I've written
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: down my notes, but basically he represented a lot of unions.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Became famous in the nineteenth century for high profile representations
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: of trade union causes, but also criminal matters in the
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: twentieth century, including representing the Gillers, Leopold, and Lobe. And yeah,
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: there's also one called the Scopes monkey trial, which was
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: I think it was the state of Tennessee wanted to
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: outlaw the teaching of evolution in schools. They're like, no, God,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: create a man, none of this. We were not here otherwise,
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: none of this monkey business. Hired those bones, Yes, and yeah,
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: I think there was a teacher called Scopes. He was like, no, no,
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: we're teaching evolution. That's the real deal here. And Darrow
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: very high provolowyer represented him. So yeah, I mean he
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: was kind of shorthand for like big gung lawyer.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: But this is where Bart says, too hearts, I want
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: to be a lawyer when I'm older, just like you
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: and there's one thing America needs, it's more lawyers. Can
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: you imagine a word without any lawyers?
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: So Beck has used a lot of just a vision
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: of world piece.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Essentially, it's like it's like the well they are they
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: actually using the I'd Like to they wanted.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: They wanted to use I'd like to teach the World
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to sing from the Coca Cola commercial, but they couldn't
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: get the rights to it, so they did.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Something that sounds similar.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie I never put two or two together.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I didn't think of that commercial when I heard this,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I just saw it as like a world peace harmony song.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I got the coke thing.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Yeah, for those of you who were about spoiling anything,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: fans of mad Him, we know exactly what we're talking about.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Yeah, this next bit was kind of odd to me.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: So it cuts two huts resting the case, but he's
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: not wearing any pants, and it comes across me just
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: shaking his head, and I was like, okay, So I
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: came out of absolutely nowhere. Why is he wearing no pants?
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: What is going on here? Because he got so confident
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: in his abilities, he well, I can treat myself to
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: a drink and he's just taking up, you know, one
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: sip too far and now he's showing up in court
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: with it doesn't seem drunk. No, No, she's not wearing
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: pants anyway.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: I moved for a bad court thing.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: You mean a miss troll.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where you're the judge and I'm the law
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: talking guy.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: The lawyer.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: Right, the foreman will pass the verdict to the bail
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: of This verdict is written on a cocktail napkin, and
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: it still says guilty and guilty is spelled wrong.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: This is the thing is where that's where they said
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: that she's guilty. Right, Well, he gives him the napkin.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: It still says guilty and it's guilty spelled wrong. But
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: the thing is, so are we meant to believe that
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: she didn't get off because of this part? Because I'm
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: a little confused, But this is where the starts to
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: sort of because last time we saw the court room,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: they was like, oh, oh my god, maybe he is wrong,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: maybe I did get it wrong. And then it's just like, no,
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: she's still guilty. But this can't be the chain of
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: events that results in her being them turning their opinions.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: This is where it goes.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I want to say off the rails, but oh well,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: it's it's shaky. Yes, okay, the ride gets a little bit.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Little shake, shake, shake, share, shaky, let's shake.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: It isn't it that song? It is is Moally Cyrus's brother,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: that guy.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: I believe. So the band is metro Station. Metro Station?
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: What a song did they do? Shut up and dance
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: with me? Shut up?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: That's a similar kind of vibe. It's not the same. Yeah, okay,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: metro Station. Wow, I can't believe you remember that?
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: And I didn't A big fan of the Cyrus Klan. Yeah, don't, huh.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: But Marge, tune into going down to south Park and
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: check out an episode you got f in the a.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Yeah, just check it going down to south Park. Great show,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: we just did that the Jeffersons. You'd be ignor if
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: you be.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Margin gets taken away and Martin Liszt says, you're still
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: my hero. Mum Bar says your bus route it just
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: needs a cocktail dress and a crowbar. That's the Bartina Bartina. Yes,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I've got a story here that down I go right,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I've on't ever heard anyone use this in real life
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: once and I was at high school and I knew
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: the reference when he said it, and it was a
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: guy who was a new kid of school, wasn't not
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: necessarily friends with him. He hadn't been there for like
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: two or three days, and we're on our way to class.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: We meant to go up and downstairs. It was at
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Gelong High School, the big Win Stanley building, whatever it's called,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: and you had to go three flight of stairs, R
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: up the way and he's going up. It was almost
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: like yeah, both arms full and he starts sort of
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: falling over and it's just like slow motion.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: He goes down.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I go and it falls down. I was like, is
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: that the Simpsons refitly goes Yeah's one of my favorite
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: bits from the episode.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, we're gonna be best friends.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Him going down, I go eight shit, books go everywhere. Yeah, Crab,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: James Crabb, do you one of my grooms on at
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: my wedding? One of my best friends still to this day.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: And that's where their friendship developed. From down, I go over.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Then says he's going to miss Marge, not just for
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: the sex, but the food prep as well. Skills with
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: the stains of all kinds. But he also missed how
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: lucky you make him feel every single morning.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: That's nice.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: That's what modern Simpsons is missing now. Oh sure, yeah,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: because you believe it. Oh yeah, yeah, there's gag, gag, gag,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: ridiculous silly Homer. But no, he at the end of
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the day he loves this. Oh yeah, one percent. Yeah,
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: it's a lovely expression as well. Just have you lucky,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: lucky you are to wake up? Oh my goodness.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: But they drag her away essentially, and who says, well
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: her behind bars our story of secure like he's showing
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: no remorse, no, no, but like the last we saw him,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: his second thoughts at all, last we saw him, he
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: realized he was wrong anyway, But Snakes taking Ustore to
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Mexico and that's the end of that chapter. Then it's
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: like the final little bit here. So Marge's arriving at
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: the Women's prison, a prison for women. She enters her
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: cell very much here, introduces herself and she meets Philips,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: a woman who is in there court Phillips because she
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: killed her husband with a Phillips and a screwdriver. They're
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: eating dinner in March. It's just so nice, not having
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: to cook back.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so very bright side.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I think this episode would have benefited from an extra
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: five minutes or so of just these kind of bits
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: of March adjusting to prison life. You know, we don't
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: see any negatives to her being in prison besides the
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: fact that she doesn't get to have sex.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: But again, maybe that's the joke in terms of like,
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: oh my god, she's been so busy taking care of
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: so many people. Now she's in like what you would
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: regard it generally the worst situation. I mean, no one
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: wants to go to jail, and she's kind of like,
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: oh what it was like a holiday, someone's actually good. Yeah,
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: She's like she's going to Rancho relaxo. Yeah, you know.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: I mean that's what I wanted to touch on the
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: start and I didn't get to it was that we
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: already got a similar story of Marge leaving the family
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and it going to ship with Homer alone, which is
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: the previous season. Yes, so it's almost like they wanted
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: to do the same story, but how can we do it.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: She has to go to jail, but she wasn't away
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: for long enough justify any of this because it just
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: goes to shit.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: So quickly. Absolutely, But for her to be like, oh,
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: you know, yeah, someone's making dinner for me, it's like, oh,
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: I've got all this time to myself, et cetera, cetera. Yeah,
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: I mean yeah, they just don't don't expand on it enough,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: not at all.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: But she also meets, so she did, and dinners get
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Phillip says, well, didn't your your husband ever cooked for you? Well,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: once he's cooking the fish, doesn't yet the lobsters. He's
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: trying to put lobsters in the pot. Then we see
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: tattoo Annie Mad magazine. God rest it so and still exists.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I thought mad well, I thought stop, I've got a
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: swarm Mad magazine and end have a look.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Because there's about twenty minutes before we started recording today,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: I saw online, well there was a cover of a
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: Mad magazine. Now, whether this was just mocked up by somebody,
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: but it was like the poster for the great horror
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: movie Reanimator, where you know, it's there's a head in
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: the dish and you're a mad scientist behind it, and
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: it's Alfred ALFREDY Newman's head in the dish, and it's
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Robert F. Kennedy behind him. But it was a Mad
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Magazine cover.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: It says here, Mad Magazine, this is two years ago.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I love this magazine as a kid, and was it's
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: a reprint only apparently as of two years ago. Okay,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: the magazine effectively folded five years ago. Interesting, So what
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: did you found a new one? Yeah, the end of
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: satire Mad Magazine to cease regular publication.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: That was in twenty nineteen. Okay, hang on one second, but
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: then it says, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Mad Magazine is an American human magazine which launched nine
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: fifth who is currently published by DC Comics.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: So it must have got rebooted. Yeah, Facebook, Mad Magazine.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Look what we've reanimated, revived old pieces and all new
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: ones make up our Mad sign Its issue on sale Wednesday,
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: August thirteen in comic book stores.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it definitely got canceled. It definitely got canceled. I
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: did not know it was back. That is good because
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I used to love going to that. I was that
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: kid that used to go to them and go try
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: and do the folding without bending it to come up.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: What's a bendit? I've got to pay for it.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: Sorry, you can't do that.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: That's not happen when no one's I would not be
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: buying a Mad magazine if someone's done the folding, like
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: you have to be the one that doesn't. Yeah, like,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: it's it's yours. That's what you're paying the money for.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: You get to do the.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Fouls at the very end. Yeah, and all the way through.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: And here's your treat. Yeah that is and they were
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: a treat. All.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: There's a point in life where you get old enough
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to get the jokes. Oh yeah, the already other this
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: one here is what kind of was? What kind of
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: slime would I marry? What kind of slot slime? What
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: I'm I thinking it is?
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: It's not like that? What me worry? Is that?
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Mean?
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Mad Magazine Tato Annie tatoo on her back. Then it's
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: the family meeting home is like, all right, margin's in't here.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: This is what's going to be going down. I don't
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: want to wash your dishes and washes away, So we're
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: gonna straight from the forest or the milk carton and
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: we're going to eat while standing over the sink or
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: the toilet.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: It's this sounds very practical.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Then they said, what about magg who's gonna change the diapers?
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Will take its call.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: We let he free the back, yet nature will take
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: its course. Lisa the sugests, if we just do all
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: our fair share, we'll be fine. I think we'll law
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: be gobb to keep this house stable. Ten minutes later,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: minutes later, yeah, house is completely torn to shreds as
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: an alligator that goes through. It's you think it's just
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: a sight gag. But they paid off in just a
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: few moments. Yeah, they're out of clean clothes. And Lisa says,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I feels like we're wearing the same red dress forever.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Homer says, go to the attic, the old trunk and
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: close up there, and as much as wedding dress, which
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: he has ripped. We all like to think we can
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: handle these situations, right, husband's men, whatever. But it's pretty
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: fairly accurate depiction of what happens when the woman of
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: the house gets taken away. Well, Nikola went to England
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: for a few weeks earlier in the year, like two
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: to three weeks, and I like to think I had
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: pretty good grass for everything I had. It was all
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: under control. But there were times where you know, little
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: things creeping where you go a little later, See these
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: dishes do them tomorrow, and then it gets to tomorrow
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: You're like, there's only a few there. Oh, the I'm
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: gonna be built up. And it gets to the point
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: when you're like, Mum's back in an hour, quick fix
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: the house.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Indeed a civilizing influence. Yeah, So either you either you
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: live with a woman and yeah, she is kind of like,
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: we can't live like this, or you live by yourself
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: but you have a woman in your life, it's like, well,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: she's not going to come over at the houses like this.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: You know, it inspires you to be a better person.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: All So, if you said to me, what color is
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Lisa's dress, I'd say orange. I don't think red dress.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: It doesn't scream red to me like Marge's necklace screams red. Yeah,
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: I would think more orange than red.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because she goes it feels I've been saying that's
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: wearing the same red dress all my life, which is
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: the gag, being that they never get changed, You're always
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: wearing the same clothes. But I never thought Lisa's wearing red.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: As I was watching go Back and watching reruns, what
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: I Okay, well, I know it's a red dress, but
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I remember thinking earlier on red really, this seems orange
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: to me, you know it looks I agree with you. Yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: it's very similar to Bart's orange T shirt. Then Bark
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: compares you that school was comparing lunch to Millhouse, Millhouse
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: as I believe a baloney and she sandwich and he's
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: got a pack of sugar and a peanut butter smear
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: on a playing card. Nelson mocks him because his mum's
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: in prison, so as yours. Hey, let's play, let's friends
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: have something to bond over. Then it's time for prison
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: visit day. Home is wearing the Halloween costume. There Satan,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I am evil Home, but this is a whole It's
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: like he clearly wanted to wear this, but the reactions
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: he's getting in Puppy, he's like he's unsure if neither
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: had a moment where you've worn something. You're going, I
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: look great in this, but then when you get outside
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: you're like, I'm not too short now, oh yeah, And
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: he gets real self conscious. Oh, very much so, because
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: it might be a loud shirt or something. You're like,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: I thought, I thought no one said anything to make
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you think you couldn't. But it's like, no one's compliment
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: to me either, no, is everyone looking at me and laughing.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: When you take a step outside your fashion comfort zone,
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: it you are usually expecting looking good. You need something.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: When you don't get looking good, your brain automatically switches
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: to well, I must be looking bad.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I need to go back and a change to wear
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: the same black shirt I where every day.
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: It must be time for as the sky blue Oxford
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: buttons and shirt and jeans. But I always wear.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but you love your north face, don't you?
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: I do very much.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of people do, apparently everywhere. Now
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: I talk about conspiracy theories. I swear they're taken over
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: the world. Normal they're following the same black, gray white
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: jacket to see everyone wearing.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: I'm too I'm too scared to be individual.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: But says that I mentioned. There's an alligator. We flushed
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: down the toilet, got stuck half ways and now we're
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: gonna Now we're gonna feed it, and Grandpa accidentally feeds it.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: It's his teeth. Then we get the conjugal visit.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: Honey.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: I don't know what you're feeling right now, so I
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: don't want to push anything. We can just hold hands
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: or sit and talk.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: There's actually really nice mode for Homer as well as like,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I want to have sex with you, but I'm willing
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: to go No, just hold hands if that's all you're
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: comfortable with. She's like, lay down, kno's the whole trailer
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: over my pantsy on him. Then we were time for
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: at the Beautify our Parks bake sale, and there's this
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: very campy man who wants Marge's marshmallow squares.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Oh darn, darn, oh darn.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: But they're not there, and then the fifty dollars short,
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: so they can't buy the Lincoln statue they wanted. They
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: have to settle for the thirty ninth President, which is
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: history's greatest monster.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: Jimmy Carter.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Jimmy Carter. Yes, they knock it over and the town
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: goes through hell. There are riots everywhere Williams, at least
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the dogs. They look pretty angry. Yeah, I've been teasing them,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: starving them, singing out a key me me ma'mo. That
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: is fucking so funny to me me me mama. And
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: they let him to attack him and Maud's this never
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: would happened that March Simpson was around. And then Marge
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: is ready to go home, is leaning against the car.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Apparently this is a similar shot to a scene in
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Goodfellows in which he gets out of prison and his
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: wife is waiting for him by resting against the car
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: like this, Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: Sounds about right, Rayley. He gets out of jail, the
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: rain Broko was waiting for him.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Apparently the visual design of it all looks very similar
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: to Good Fellows, apparently according to someone IMDb. Nice Phillips
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: then says that you know, I don't worry Marjor. I'm
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: doing well with meta. Guy is Barney. He says, his
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: name is Holmer. He works at the power plant. And
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: March here, she's two nice to say anything, otherwise she's
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: never getting out. She killed a guy, so let's just
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: let's just let her believe it. Let's just let her
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: believe it. Butt and Lisa and there cleaning up the
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: house because Marge is coming home, gonna sweep it all
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: under the rug. Your man, wise guy. He watch it
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: and it ends with Marge being greeted with a giant
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: welcome home party. Helen Lovejoyce says Sean only use her
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: gossip for good now and not evil. Free cheers for March,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: and they show off the statue which is just the
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: statue of Kada with a.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: March wig, but also it says March forever as opposed
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: to Malaise forever. Yep.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: If it's just got her head on her hair on top,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: as you said. But and Lisa now using the statue
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: as a ted the ball station. And that's the end
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: of the episode. So a really strong start, an entertaining middle,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: and a rushed ending.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: Rushed that's the best. That's a very polite way of
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: putting it, Yes, and a very diplomatic way of putting it.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: You sit down and go, what is the point of
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: this episode? Is it just Marge goes to prison or
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: is it everyone needs to realize how pivotal Marge is
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: now important March is to not just a family, but Springfield,
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: and how do we execute that?
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: Yeah? I think there are two separate episodes. I do.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: I think the town needed to realize we rushed the
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: judgment and we let our own worst impulses sort of
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: come to the fore. And I think they needed to
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: take a good, long, hard look at themselves because of that,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: I think, which it never really does.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: I think you needed for if you want to tell
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: both these stories in the one episode, you want to
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: be a Margin Prison episode. She really needed to be
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: in prison by the end of the first act. That
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: needed to be the first commercial Marge going to prison.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: You need to get the court case and the coronavirt
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: yoursaka Flu all done out of the way, because that
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: sort of goes on a long time.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: It's editing, It goes on a long time. Here's the thing.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I think, Well, but you need to play out the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: insanity margins going through as well.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: That's true. Look, we're sort of speculatating stuff that didn't happen.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: It feels like the court case stuff and the osaka
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Flu stuff in the first and second acts feels more
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: entertaining than anything anything they could do with Margin Prison,
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: if you know what I mean. I mean, look, I'm
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: sure if the riders sat down, like, let's come up
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: with fun scenarios while Marge's behind bars.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: It's probably why they do that week because I mean, granted,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: the stuff in the prison that we got was entertaining.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: We got the at tattoo and he was a good gag. Yeah,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: we get her pantcy on Homer with a good gag.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: I just think there was a lot too.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: I get the villain that I'll probably spitballing ideas in
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: the writer's room for like entertaining, Yeah, what's fun for
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: margin prison? And Yeah, they just sort of crunch the
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: thumbs and realize we're coming up with more entertaining stuff
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: with huts in the court room. Yeah, let's let's drag
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: out the courtroom stuff a little bit more.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I just think if you're going to do that, though
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: what she did wrong needs to be worse, it still
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: has to be an accident. There's been more than just
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: accidentally taking a bottle of bourbon from the Quickie mark Like,
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: that doesn't to me justify thirty days prison. How many
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: time do we see snake? I suppose State goes to prison,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: but Homer's done so many wrong things he hasn't gone
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: to prison. It just seems like, I don't know, it's
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: not a bad episode.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: No, no, no, no. I got a lot of the
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: enjoyment out of this one for me.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I don't say this very often for Golden Near episodes
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: is one where you kind of need to switch the
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: brain up and just go with it. Yeah, which I
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: don't recall ever feeling this way watching it previously, but
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: when you're reviewing it, you're going this doesn't really make
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: a lot of sense.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: Foundations are a little flimsy. Yeah.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Now we need to also throw a shout out to
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: our patrons, right, oh yeah, they actually didn't vote for
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: this episode. They voted for Hurricane Nenny. But then we
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: realized that we already reviewed Hurricane Nenni two years ago
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: with our man from the best Simpsons collection ever. Oh okay,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: worst Simpsons collection ever, but you know best Simpson Man
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Michael a couple of years ago, which is already Apple
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: on our feed, and we thought, well, why are we
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: going to review the same episode two years later. We
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: haven't touched on margin Chains for a while, so apologies, guys.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: We do appreciate your voting for it. But hey, you
