Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10I'm sorry, but I don't think you know what a really bad day is.
- 0:14But you'll fucking learn. Welcome.
- 0:17What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:19The podcast where we talk about the goods, about the ugly and
- 0:21the absurd in all of our favorite.
- 0:23And least favorite? Scary movies.
- 0:25Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:27base even. If we don't always get it, my
- 0:29name is Travis, my name is Jesse, and welcome to March.
- 0:34And we're starting off rule on him.
- 0:36Yeah. But first, I have no
- 0:41announcements at this time. We do have poll results though.
- 0:45We do. So we talked about Texas
- 0:47Chainsaw Massacre last week, the first one, and we just wanted to
- 0:51know of all the characters there who would win a marathon.
- 0:54So you have the Leatherface, the Sally.
- 0:59The Sally. And the truck driver?
- 1:00The truck driver. So the poll results, 53% say
- 1:04Sally, 7% say Leatherface OK, 40% truck driver.
- 1:13OK. So, you know, I'm kind of
- 1:16surprised that Weather Face only got 7% considering we discussed
- 1:20how his stamina is. That guy is built to like last.
- 1:24I think he could do pretty well in a marathon.
- 1:26The the question isn't who can finish a marathon as who would
- 1:30win the marathon. He kept up with Sally pretty
- 1:32good. Yeah, but Sally got away in the
- 1:34end, didn't she? So we know for a fact she can
- 1:36beat him. Oh no, he was gaining an honor
- 1:39there. Until she got to the gas
- 1:41station, he was right on her heels.
- 1:42But still, she still got away. She did, yeah, that's true.
- 1:46She she hit the finish line first, I guess you could say.
- 1:49And the truck driver, I mean that's TBD.
- 1:52We we never saw what happened to him.
- 1:53I hope he just like I hope we see him pop up randomly.
- 1:58Yeah. I would like like just in the
- 1:59background, just running. That would be amazing.
- 2:02I wouldn't put it past that one either.
- 2:03All right, my pick. I'm going to say Weatherface
- 2:06because I think Weatherface has the stamina to do it, and I
- 2:09think that he's got the speed to do it too.
- 2:11I think he could do it. I think you're biased.
- 2:13I don't know. I mean, I almost, it's really
- 2:16close, honestly. It's going to be, it's going to
- 2:19be a photo finish between these three people here, I think.
- 2:22Yeah, I obviously I'm team truck driver.
- 2:26OK, yeah, I'm glad the truck driver got a lot of votes for
- 2:29that. Honestly, I was kind of shocked
- 2:31about that. But thank you, guys.
- 2:33Yeah, I appreciate that. All right, so that's it for the
- 2:35poll. OK all.
- 2:37Right. Oh no.
- 2:38Oh no. Oh, no, I forgot to do.
- 2:40I forgot to because I wrote down all of my notes through this
- 2:43last night. The last night was the end of
- 2:45the month, so I didn't write down.
- 2:47Oh. Where to watch it?
- 2:48Where to watch it? OK, so Unhinged, are we ready?
- 2:53Let's do it. Let's do it.
- 2:54Unhinged released August 21st, 2020.
- 2:58We watched it on our DVD, but as of March you can watch it on
- 3:01Netflix or you can rent it from Prime, YouTube, Google Play,
- 3:04Redbox, or Fandango at home. Do it.
- 3:08Watch this movie. I think this is the first time
- 3:10I've seen it actually on a streaming service, because when
- 3:12we watched it the first time we had to rinse it.
- 3:14Yeah, yeah. And it's it's so God, if you
- 3:18haven't watched this movie, watch it.
- 3:20It's so which fun? Written Written by Carl
- 3:24Ellsworth, directed by Derek Bort.
- 3:27Music Bortles. It's what?
- 3:29I thought too, whenever I saw that last night.
- 3:32Music by David Buckley, who also did the music for another
- 3:36Russell Crowe movie, which we did a double feature with The
- 3:39Nice Guys. Gonna recommend that double
- 3:41feature. It's a fantastic double feature.
- 3:43It is. It's really, really good.
- 3:45With a pause in the middle to listen to Russell Crowe's
- 3:49rendition of Stars Hot Take. If you wanted to take it to the
- 3:52next level. If you wanna take it to the next
- 3:53level. And he also did the music for
- 3:56nobody. He did, yeah.
- 3:58This guys got some pretty good. Stuff on David Buckley is hard
- 4:01to have a good time is what I'm learning.
- 4:03Okay? Special effects makeup by Stacy
- 4:05Perry, starring Russell Crowe as Man, Karen Pistorius as Rachel,
- 4:13Gabriel Bateman as Kyle, Jimmy Simpson as Andy, and Austin P
- 4:17McKenzie as Fred Travis. Yeah, time for our favorite
- 4:21game. OK, Budget or Buckhead, I can't
- 4:25rely on you for anything. Yep, this isn't.
- 4:30Even this isn't even a it's too here not to be.
- 4:33And you know what? We're not going to redo it, and
- 4:35the people need to know. Hey what's up y'all?
- 4:37You all know me at this point. This isn't a surprise to
- 4:40anybody. And you drop your pop filter,
- 4:43which is a surprise to nobody also.
- 4:45These pop filters suck. I'm just going.
- 4:46To say mine never has a problem. Just going to say.
- 4:49Mine's always OK. OK.
- 4:51Are you going to guess? Budget.
- 4:54Absolutely. Yeah, it's for sure budget.
- 4:56I think, yeah, I feel like Russell Crowe.
- 4:58He's not going to be cheap, I don't think.
- 5:00But also the like, filming most of this shit on the road's gonna
- 5:03take money. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:06So $33 million. Whoa, that's way higher than
- 5:09expected. Actually, box office opening
- 5:12weekend was 601,000. Remember we were coming out of
- 5:15COVID at this time. Yeah, well, not coming out of
- 5:18COVID, but things were in the. Opening in the Thrones of COVID
- 5:22at this time. Worldwide gross of 44 million.
- 5:26That's pretty good for COVID. IMDb score 6 point O out of 10.
- 5:31Nice. OK, I'm surprised.
- 5:33Pleasantly surprised. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:35I'm glad that it it's got got some love online.
- 5:39I pulled some other movies from 2020, OK.
- 5:42And the theme is why are you so obsessed with me?
- 5:46I like this. OK, here's to know what hits
- 5:49that in 2020. So the first one is scare me.
- 5:53OK, that's. That's a really good one.
- 5:55That's. A fun one.
- 5:55If you haven't watched that, that's a Shutter original,
- 5:58right? Yeah, it's on Shutter.
- 6:00Yep. Shutter original.
- 6:01Yeah. I mean, it was like it's like an
- 6:02exclusive streaming thing there for them.
- 6:04Yeah. Yeah, that one's a real fun one,
- 6:07but obviously like the authors are kinda playing off of each
- 6:11other. So that's how it ties into the
- 6:12theme That released October 1st, 2020.
- 6:17Because it is like a streaming movie.
- 6:19I don't have a budget or a gross but I can tell you it's got a
- 6:235.7 out of 10 on IMDb. Only a 5.7?
- 6:26That's surprising. 5.7 They What they were able to accomplish
- 6:29with so little in that movie was really impressive.
- 6:32It's it. I didn't know how the movie was
- 6:35going to go down, but when I started watching it I was like,
- 6:37wow, this is a lot of fun. Yeah, and I like the.
- 6:40It's only three people, but it's good.
- 6:41Josh Rubin. Fuck, I can't remember her name
- 6:44but yeah it's the girl from. She's Storm.
- 6:49The boys storm, I almost said. Stormtrooper.
- 6:52I almost said storm chaser. I can't remember.
- 6:56Yeah, no, we're doing a bad job. She's the Nazi.
- 6:59Yeah, yeah, the Nazi superhero. And Chris Redd is Chris Redd.
- 7:02Yeah. Second movie babysitter, Killer
- 7:06Queen. Because.
- 7:08They just won't leave the poor little nerd boy alone.
- 7:10Yeah, he's too pure. They gotta they gotta try and
- 7:14steal his innocence so they can make deals with the devil or
- 7:16whatever. That's a fun one too.
- 7:18Yeah, that released September 10th, 2020.
- 7:21Again, streaming. That's a Netflix 1 so I don't
- 7:24have budget or gross, but I can tell you that it has a 5.8 out
- 7:28of 10 on IMDb. That's a pretty solid sequel.
- 7:33Right, this next one, I guess it's probably more of a why
- 7:37aren't you more obsessed with me?
- 7:40OK, cuz it's Spree, yeah. OK.
- 7:45That one's a fun one that's got Joe.
- 7:48What's his face from Stranger Things?
- 7:50Nope. His band is called Joe.
- 7:52No, his actual first name is Joe Joe Carey.
- 7:54Joe Carey, Yes, Thank you. OK.
- 7:57That's why it's funny his band name is Joe DJO, but his actual
- 8:00name is Joe. OK, OK.
- 8:02It's just when you say it out loud versus like reading it on
- 8:05on paper. OK, cool.
- 8:07That released August 14th, 2020. I have a budget but it may have
- 8:1251K. That's a surprisingly fun movie.
- 8:15You bought that like a $1.00 DVD?
- 8:17Buy at. It was a dollar trade.
- 8:19It was one of those random like here's a horror movie that
- 8:22you're actually interested in, and I bought it and we had a
- 8:25really good time with it. Also David Arquette.
- 8:27'S I was going to say yeah, surprise.
- 8:29David Arquette never mad about. That no, never, ever.
- 8:33Wish she was in this movie. Right, that would be fun.
- 8:36Yeah, 5.9 out of 10. I was OK.
- 8:39That's good. I will say, if we don't, if
- 8:42we're not getting a David Arquette, at least we get a
- 8:44Jimmy Simpson. That's true.
- 8:46That is true. It's worth it all right.
- 8:49Sadly, tagline. Tagline.
- 8:52OK, I like it. It's funny.
- 8:54That's a good one. He can happen to anyone.
- 9:00No, I mean he, he can have it everyone for anyone.
- 9:05Dude, road rage incidents are scary.
- 9:08There is like that story of the one guy who followed the person
- 9:11and attacked him with a machete. That's the one that I always
- 9:13think of because like, there's a lot.
- 9:15They're just driving around with a machete in the suburbs.
- 9:18Yeah, I, I love to go to that area, that little corner of
- 9:23Reddit, and it's, I watch a lot of videos of that stuff and it's
- 9:27always, it's reminding me that it's never worth it.
- 9:30Just don't like if somebody pisses you off, whatever, man.
- 9:33Just like fucking go on. It's worth not dealing with that
- 9:36shit. I very rarely do my horn and
- 9:39it's only when it's like you almost killed me paid the fuck
- 9:43attention. Yeah, I think that there are
- 9:46moments it's justified, but like if you know, if somebody did
- 9:49like a slight little thing that it's whatever, it's not cool.
- 9:54But is it worth like laying on the horn and getting into a life
- 9:57altering confrontation? And am I worried that this
- 9:59person might murder me? Yeah, I'm always worried about
- 10:02that. People are crazy.
- 10:03Yeah. OK, I don't have a lot of fun
- 10:05facts. No, very sadly.
- 10:08That's OK. We'll bring the fun to this,
- 10:09yeah? We're the fun.
- 10:12Probably not the facts, but we're the fun.
- 10:14We are a fact, fun. We are, in fact, fun.
- 10:17OK. Do you feel good?
- 10:18We are. You feel good about that?
- 10:19Yeah. I'm leaving all of this in.
- 10:21Yeah, you all know who I am. OK, so this was shot in summer
- 10:26of 2019 in Kenner and New Orleans, LA, So.
- 10:32OK, that that raises more questions.
- 10:34Yes. You were very concerned because
- 10:35you're like, how was this done in COVID?
- 10:37And I was like, it was probably filmed before COVID and you're
- 10:39like, I don't know about that. It was.
- 10:42In fact, it was filmed in 2019. They had the editing and stuff
- 10:45ready to go by the end of the year.
- 10:47It was supposed to premiere early in 2020.
- 10:51And the like, premiere date just kept getting pushed back.
- 10:54It was pushed back at least five times.
- 10:56Oh wow, yeah, that either happens if they don't have faith
- 11:00in the movie or if they feel like it is like a better match
- 11:03for something else. I think that they, from what I
- 11:06was from like context and reading between the lines, it
- 11:10seems like they were hoping to get it like when the theater
- 11:14crowds were going back up again, they wanted it to have a good
- 11:18solid opening weekend. OK, yeah.
- 11:20I can't even remember when theaters reopened.
- 11:23May because we went in so spiral. 2021 though, right?
- 11:26That was 21. Is it?
- 11:28Yeah, I don't even know how people would have been able to
- 11:32like in 2020. It would have had to have been
- 11:34like virtual screenings or some shit.
- 11:36I don't know. Yeah.
- 11:37Or like the yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 11:40I can't remember. Yeah.
- 11:42So yeah, that's where that was. Okay, like I said, I don't have
- 11:47a lot of fun facts. I tried to look up some
- 11:49interviews and they're all with Russell Crowe.
- 11:51And here's the thing, I love him.
- 11:53I think he's perfect for a movie called Unhinged.
- 11:56But this interview was all just him talking about getting into
- 12:00character. Interesting stuff on its own,
- 12:02but it doesn't tell you a whole lot about the movie.
- 12:04I think the biggest thing that I got from that interview was that
- 12:08the script initially had a lot more back story for the
- 12:11character, OK, And they ended up taking it away.
- 12:15So that way it's like a little bit more shrouded in mystery,
- 12:18and really all you're getting is the story of him being mad.
- 12:21That's this woman like. That's some good fun facts right
- 12:24there. Yeah, I didn't.
- 12:25I was wondering about that. I was confused about giving him
- 12:29the title as man as the credit because.
- 12:32I called him Tom once, he said That was his name.
- 12:35I and I'm inclined to believe him because he he's basically
- 12:38going on like a scorched earth. Yeah, he has nothing to.
- 12:41Lose. Yeah, he said.
- 12:42He is perfectly fine with suicide by cops.
- 12:45Yeah, I have no reason to think that he just came up with an
- 12:47alias. He's ending it that day, Yeah.
- 12:49It's going to be over with. I don't think he, yeah, he's,
- 12:52it's interesting. I mean, his face is everywhere.
- 12:54Yeah, people know that guy. The people are talking.
- 12:57People are saying like that woman on the news that was
- 13:00talking about there we get, we do get a little like snippets of
- 13:03his past where they like, oh, she had a restraining order on
- 13:06him. Yeah.
- 13:07And I like the way they did that and they said, you know, part of
- 13:10it was that way, like you're kind of along for the ride with
- 13:13everything, but also it keeps the pace going a lot faster
- 13:16instead of getting a bunch of like exposition and stuff.
- 13:19So yeah, I think it's, I think it's pretty effective.
- 13:22It's funny that you say that they filmed it in New Orleans
- 13:25too, because that makes me think, was he trying for a New
- 13:27Orleans accent and accidentally did kind of Texas or?
- 13:31Yeah, I think. I think he was going for like a
- 13:34gnaw. I think he was trying to go for
- 13:37a generic Midwest and because he's Kiwi and then he's
- 13:41surrounded by all of these Louis Indians.
- 13:46I don't know what a person from Louisiana it's called.
- 13:49I think that he was doing that thing where, you know, sometimes
- 13:52you kind of pick up the accent around you, but it was very
- 13:55shaky at best. I mean, especially on a movie
- 13:58set, Yeah. Like there's people from all
- 14:00over the like, is he country? Is he?
- 14:02Kiwi or Australian? I think he's Kiwi.
- 14:04I'm pretty sure he's New Zealand.
- 14:06OK, I get most of my Russell Crowe knowledge from that South
- 14:10Park episode where he is on a buck boat and he like has his
- 14:16own reality show where he goes around the world fighting
- 14:18people. Oh yeah, I forgot about that
- 14:21bit. And I believe it, his journey
- 14:22begins in New Zealand, if I remember correctly.
- 14:24It's been a while since I've watched that episode.
- 14:26But I think the whole point is he's like a, he's a Kiwi and he
- 14:29goes around the world and just punches people, which he keeps
- 14:32that true in this movie. Yeah, I am fine with paying many
- 14:36to watch Russell Crowe punch people.
- 14:38I mean that you're you're, you're guaranteed at least one
- 14:41in every single movie. At least in yes.
- 14:44OK, so bare bones, but we're gonna make our own fun, so let's
- 14:51go ahead and go into our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 14:53OK, cool. So this movie is I like his
- 15:00character. He's not like a super in depth
- 15:02character or like unique, but I think it's usually it's just
- 15:06Russell Crowe and really this movie needed that and it made it
- 15:11a lot of fun. I like the whole on the road
- 15:15type thing. I love on the road type movies,
- 15:17you know, fast and furious obviously love that joyride love
- 15:20that The whole thing about that is 1 long chase scene.
- 15:23This movie is the exact same thing.
- 15:24He's chasing her in a truck the entire time and I chase scenes
- 15:28are great. I love chase scenes.
- 15:29It's a lot of fun, so. That was that was another thing
- 15:32that they talked that he talked about what the character is.
- 15:34He kind of envisioned them like the shark in Jaws.
- 15:37Yeah, I can see that actually. Yeah, I thought everybody did a
- 15:40pretty good job acting wise, other than maybe like Freddie.
- 15:44I was fine with Freddie. I thought Karen Pistorius, I
- 15:48think she can't cry. Is that that mom, Rachel?
- 15:52Yeah, she. Did really good at like the
- 15:54anger, frustration, disbelief. But like when she thought
- 16:00Freddie was dead, she was like, oh.
- 16:05She did a good part when she he threatens Kyle and she's like,
- 16:11don't you touch my son? Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 16:13She's really good at the anger. Yeah, that's true.
- 16:15Yeah, you're right. She know that I like Jimmy
- 16:19Simpson being in more things and I like purely just this is just
- 16:24like we get to talk about him. So this makes this movie good.
- 16:27This like adds points to the movie because I like talking
- 16:29about Jimmy Simpson. I like that Jimmy Simpson just
- 16:31gets to play a normal dude. It's so weird, right?
- 16:35Yeah, I don't like, Why are you in a suit, Jimmy?
- 16:37I've like, I think the only other thing that I've seen where
- 16:41he's like the straight man is like that Black Mirror episode.
- 16:44Oh shit, I forgot he's in. That because he's like, he has
- 16:47to play it cool, but even that's some weird situation.
- 16:49So you know, right here he just gets space smashed by Russell
- 16:52Crowe. Yeah, he's just a lawyer who
- 16:54gets beat up with a coffee mug. Yeah, Yeah.
- 16:56But it's, you know, it's fun. I love that guy.
- 16:59Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:01I mean, like the set pieces too, the stunts and like all the
- 17:04stuff that goes on with like how they film all of like all the
- 17:09stuff involving cars. Like I can only imagine how
- 17:11difficult it is. So like get sets rolling for
- 17:14something like that. And they nailed it.
- 17:16They did a great job. And I don't know, I had a lot of
- 17:18fun with this movie. OK, I, I, I'm going to be candid
- 17:25with you. OK, please.
- 17:26For the longest time I don't know what got this into my head,
- 17:32but I thought Unhinged was about a car that eats people through
- 17:35the trunk. Oh my God.
- 17:37Like it's grill gets unhinged. Yeah, like a mouse.
- 17:41Yeah. Yeah, and I don't know where
- 17:44that came from. You actually thought that about
- 17:46this movie, did you? Were you aware of Russell Crowe
- 17:48at that point? No.
- 17:51And so like we start when we started watching the movie for
- 17:53the first time. So I was like, I really want to
- 17:55watch this so. Wait, you thought that going
- 17:57back then you didn't know what you signed up for?
- 18:00And I was like, let's watch Unhinge.
- 18:01I thought I knew what I signed up for, I just was very quickly
- 18:05proven wrong. Why did you never share this
- 18:07with me until now? I would have loved to have known
- 18:10that going into that, Yeah. Cuz I don't know, I was like, it
- 18:14was kind of a shock. Can I ask how long until you
- 18:18realize we're not getting a killer car?
- 18:22I think it was when Russell Crowe pulled up beside them and
- 18:26said you're supposed to give a little toot toot instead of lay
- 18:29on the horn you. Gave up too soon.
- 18:31And I was like, I think maybe Russell Crowe's the bad guy and
- 18:35not the car. I think if I were you seeing
- 18:38Russell Crowe in that truck, I'm like, I think Russell Crowe has
- 18:40a car that's gonna eat people. I think he's going to eat pee.
- 18:44I think he may be part of that car.
- 18:46Well, like, cuz like he lights the house on fire, right?
- 18:48And I'm like, OK, clearly he's upset, he's having a hard time,
- 18:51but maybe he's on this medication because like, he's
- 18:53been chased by this car that was trying to eat him.
- 19:00I can't. Believe you actually thought
- 19:01this about like 15 minutes in where I was like, I'm thinking
- 19:06maybe it's just Russell Crowe. Is that even a movie?
- 19:09Are we just thinking of like a horrified Herbie?
- 19:13I don't know, it's like I combined this Herbie rubber and
- 19:19Maximum OverDrive. In my head, wow, so.
- 19:22If anybody wants to make that movie, please hire me on as a
- 19:25consultant. I've got ideas.
- 19:27So were you disappointed or pleasantly surprised to see what
- 19:30you got instead? Well, like I said, when I saw
- 19:32it, I realized Russell Crowe was the killer.
- 19:34I was fully on board with it. OK, And you didn't even know
- 19:37Russell Crowe was there. Yeah, I swear to God.
- 19:39I thought, like I told you in advance, like this is a Russell
- 19:42Crowe movie. He's in the car.
- 19:43He's angry. He's unhinged.
- 19:45Let's watch this. You said killer car, so yeah.
- 19:50So. It's fine.
- 19:51I the movie is really, really fun.
- 19:53It's non-stop. It doesn't waste too much time.
- 19:57And I love, I love it when shit just happens in public because
- 20:01it's one of those things that like as human beings, we're
- 20:04like, we're safe as long as we're around other people.
- 20:06But like, we've seen time and time again that that's just
- 20:08honestly not fucking true. And the fact that we see like we
- 20:12have this moment of goodness, you know, where the guy in the
- 20:15gas station who unbelievably gets a name, his name is Leo.
- 20:18No shit. Yeah, he gets one.
- 20:20But Russell? Even though Russell Crowe had a
- 20:23name, yes. Yeah, yeah, we're not gonna.
- 20:26That's just that is the facts of this.
- 20:29But he goes out there and he's like doing the nice guy thing
- 20:33and he still gets just ran over in broad daylight.
- 20:36Not even like, I mean, yeah, he gets hit by Russell Crowe, but
- 20:39he also gets hit by another car. It's like insult to injury.
- 20:41Yeah, I feel like, yeah, this movie does a good job with that.
- 20:44I think they keep tension. Yeah.
- 20:47But also like things, unexpected things happen.
- 20:50Yeah, because you go to the diner and you're like, well,
- 20:53Jimmy Simpson, Shirley will make it out of this because he's in a
- 20:56crowded diner and everybody just watch him get hit multiple times
- 21:00and then stabbed in the throat as Tom.
- 21:04I'm going to call him Tom Cooper because that's what he says his
- 21:07name is. I'm not going to call him man.
- 21:09That's deranged. Yeah, he is on speaker and he's
- 21:13like loudly, cuz he's Russell Crowe.
- 21:16He's like, Rachel, what would your last words to your
- 21:19childhood friend be? And everybody's just in there
- 21:21watching and they're like, I had no way of knowing that he was
- 21:24going to kill that man. I mean he broadcasted his
- 21:26intentions and he already bloodied up his face.
- 21:29I thought that that was interesting because like some
- 21:33people probably wouldn't jump in, but I think there would be
- 21:35at least like a couple people stepping.
- 21:37You think that, but that's The thing is that that time and time
- 21:41again, shit like that has happened.
- 21:42That's what the bystander effect is all about, you know?
- 21:45And so I like when movies like play on that because in our
- 21:49minds we think it's safer to be in public, but in reality it
- 21:52isn't. So I like it when a movie like
- 21:55preys on that like sense of security we have.
- 21:57And they're like. But actually, no.
- 21:59Man, that's true. That's a good point, yeah.
- 22:03Yeah. OK, so bad stuff.
- 22:05Bad stuff. All right, yeah, Like I said
- 22:07before, I didn't think I thought Freddie was just basically like
- 22:10a nothing character. Like he's just like fat on this
- 22:13movie. Like you can cut it, you don't
- 22:15need it. Oh, I thought you were calling
- 22:17him fat, and I was. Like, no, he's not fat like this
- 22:20movie is. Meat is like a chunk of meat,
- 22:22but it's got that fat. And I don't want to eat fat.
- 22:25I want my meat. So cut that fat.
- 22:28Just cut that. Cut it out.
- 22:32He ends up being kind of like but.
- 22:36He's only used as like a device for Rachel to have steaks.
- 22:39Really, it's all in. It that that way Rachel knows
- 22:41that like he is going to come for her and her family.
- 22:45It's just it could have been, he could have been built up better.
- 22:48Really. Like, I mean, I just didn't
- 22:50really care honestly. When he like goes to his house,
- 22:52like oh, like, no, go, go for it, dude, you got it.
- 22:57It's not that big of a deal. I kind of like the Russell Crowe
- 22:59made him kill his fiance. I like how he did that.
- 23:03That was really cool. Just pushing him and like, what
- 23:05are you? What are you stabbing her for?
- 23:06What are you stabbing for? It's like it's like the.
- 23:08Stop stabbing your fiance. Stop stabbing your fiance.
- 23:10It's the, dare I say, unhinged version of why are you touching
- 23:13yourself? Why are you punching yourself?
- 23:15And she's like, why are you stabbing her?
- 23:16Why are you stabbing? That would be the type of thing
- 23:20that Russell Crowe would do. Yeah.
- 23:22And he did. And he did.
- 23:23Yeah, like I said before, my bad Is that I think Karen Pistorius
- 23:27does overall, like a really good job.
- 23:30But those moments where she has to be emotional, like I don't
- 23:32feel like she's really sad Andy died.
- 23:34Part of me was like, maybe she's looking for a way out of this
- 23:37friendship after her divorce is done.
- 23:39She's got, yeah, she's got a lot going on, but she, she, she
- 23:43didn't really react. Yeah, like, and when she, she's
- 23:47just like, because I get her disbelief when he's like, what
- 23:49would be the last words you would say to your childhood
- 23:51friend? She's like, wait, what are you
- 23:52even on about? You know, I get that.
- 23:55But she doesn't seem upset at all at even the possibility that
- 24:01Jimmy Simpson's dead. Yeah.
- 24:04So that just it it takes it out for me or like when Freddie is
- 24:09set on fire and she fully thinks he's dead, she like gets out of
- 24:14the car and throws up. And I think that was honestly
- 24:16probably their way of being like, we need you to look more
- 24:19sad you. Gotta do something.
- 24:20You gotta be like, if you're not going to be upset, at least get
- 24:23your stomach upset. But I think she hits all of the
- 24:25other emotional points in the movie just well.
- 24:28I just think maybe she's not a crier.
- 24:30Or maybe theory Russell Crowe made fun of her every time she
- 24:34cried on set. I could see it, yeah.
- 24:38And. She's like, I can't cry in front
- 24:40of him anymore. I don't know Russell Crowe
- 24:42personally, I don't either, but he he could either be a boy.
- 24:44He's either one the biggest fucking boy on the planet or he
- 24:48is the nicest guy ever. I love him.
- 24:50I don't know what he's like as a person.
- 24:52I just love watching him on screen, so I'm gonna come up
- 24:55with wild theories like that. Yeah, yeah, we're, we're.
- 24:57Just, you know, the other end. Maybe he's not making fun of her
- 25:01when he cries. Maybe he's like overly
- 25:03comforting her and it makes her uncomfortable.
- 25:05I just imagine that he's giving her a look and she can't read
- 25:09it, but she's afraid it's bad. Yeah, and she's getting very
- 25:12self-conscious. So the guy I'll just sad, Yeah,
- 25:18sad, sad. He doesn't even realize he's
- 25:20doing it either. Yeah, OK, OK.
- 25:23What's your ugly? Ugly stuff, I guess like seeing
- 25:31the whole thing of like that kid having to put up with this, like
- 25:35mom and dad, like quarreling on the phone in front of him and
- 25:38like just like put that shit aside like for the kids sake and
- 25:41don't like air out your grievances.
- 25:43Like separate privately and not in front of like people that are
- 25:47just kind of caught in the middle of it all.
- 25:49I'm gonna gently disagree with you on that.
- 25:52Yeah, I think that's ugly. I think that it is more on the
- 25:58yeah, because this is clearly not the first time that he's had
- 26:01plans with Kyle. And I'm not last minute, I'm not
- 26:04blaming her, I'm just saying like that whole thing is ugly.
- 26:06I think she was Kyle is old enough to be recognizing this as
- 26:10a pattern and trying to tell a child like, no, it's fine.
- 26:14Your your dad isn't being a shit to you.
- 26:16Like that's you don't need to lie to a child about that.
- 26:19But I think like her kind of stepping in and being like, hey,
- 26:22maybe your next plan should just be spur of the moment.
- 26:24Yeah. Like I think she handled it.
- 26:27OK. I think she handled it about as
- 26:30well as you can handle that kind of a situation.
- 26:32I think for her to ignore it or to pretend that it's like not as
- 26:36shitty as it is in front of Kyle.
- 26:38Like I think that's kind of, it's kind of patronizing to him
- 26:43cuz even though he is a kid, he's, he can see those patterns.
- 26:46I think you know what I mean. I think you're agreeing with me.
- 26:48I think you might misunderstand what I'm saying.
- 26:50It's an ugly thing. I think that it's shitty that
- 26:52they are all having to experience that.
- 26:54OK, I'm at the green is shitty. I'm not saying they handled it
- 26:57poorly or anything. It's just like the fact that it
- 26:59happened sucks, OK? It's ugly.
- 27:01OK, So yeah, that's all I'm saying.
- 27:04I'm not picking size or anything.
- 27:06I think beyond that, my other ugly would be like Tom or man or
- 27:13whatever you want to call him his like instantly rant about
- 27:16like, oh, obviously if you know Rachel's divorcing her ex, then
- 27:23she must be sleeping with her lawyer and she's going to take
- 27:26everything the ex worked so hard for.
- 27:29He's obviously projecting hard everything there.
- 27:32But it also makes you wonder, like, their circumstances have
- 27:37to be completely different. We get the sense that he was
- 27:39like affected by layoffs, you know, just reading in the
- 27:42context and everything. I get the impression that he's I
- 27:46don't necessarily think that this guy is telling the truth
- 27:49either. I feel like he's blowing shit on
- 27:51his personal life up far more than what it ever was.
- 27:54I doubt it. Like he probably like accused
- 27:56his wife of like doing shit and she was like no, that's not what
- 27:58I'm doing. What the fuck are you doing?
- 27:59She's like, fine, I'm getting a fucking restraining where you're
- 28:01being weirder. Yeah, and that's what I was
- 28:03gonna say is that like, I get the sense that his circumstances
- 28:06were different, but I also don't think that it is.
- 28:09He is not the good guy in his story.
- 28:11Either No, no, I mean, yeah, he's a bad.
- 28:14Guy, even before today, he I wasn't the good guy in the
- 28:17story. Yeah, this movie is almost like
- 28:20Falling Down, but with cars. And instead of Michael Douglas,
- 28:27it's Russell Crowe. It's basically a bad guy.
- 28:29It just snaps. It just starts fucking up
- 28:31society. I have no clue what you're
- 28:33talking. About Falling Down's a fun
- 28:35movie, we should watch it sometime.
- 28:36OK, OK. Absurd stuff.
- 28:42So I think the whole ending of the movie being like Russell
- 28:50Crowe being thwarted by a Fortnite game plan is kind of,
- 28:54it's a little bit funny. It's funny that that is what
- 28:58took him down. The fact that like this Fortnite
- 29:01plan that Kyle was talking about earlier is like, Oh yeah, we're
- 29:05going to do that. We're going to do that in real
- 29:06life. And then they actually do it.
- 29:07It's all because of Fortnite. Fortnite save the day.
- 29:11Yeah, but I mean it. I don't know but I feel mad
- 29:18about the Fortnite thing. What do you mean?
- 29:21Like, I don't feel like we needed that because the whole
- 29:27idea goes somewhere where you're familiar.
- 29:29Like, that's just a common tactic and like, survival, you
- 29:33know? Yeah, I just think it's funny
- 29:34that it's like way, but that's like the Fortnite thing.
- 29:36Yeah. It's like, is it almost like
- 29:39product placement? Kyle saying that him and Freddie
- 29:41came up with that. I want to be like, you didn't
- 29:44really, though. Like there's nothing innovative
- 29:45about this approach. But you're a child, so I won't
- 29:48call you out for that, Freddie. I'm gonna call you out for it
- 29:51behind closed doors. Yeah.
- 29:53Oh, I don't know. I How old is this kid?
- 29:57Well, OK, this was right around the time that he did Child's
- 30:00Play. It's the same actor.
- 30:02Yeah. And he was supposed to be like
- 30:0313 and that I think. So I think like around 13 ish
- 30:07was. He supposed to be younger but
- 30:09they like cast some older. Well no, cuz he's talking about
- 30:13detention. I don't feel like they give
- 30:14elementary schoolers detention. I feel like that's middle school
- 30:16and high school. I had what they call AE in
- 30:20elementary school, which is basically detention but you're
- 30:23separated from the school all day.
- 30:26It's like a lockdown. Like you, like you, they take
- 30:30like the people that got in bad trouble and like you guys are
- 30:32doing everything in this room today together.
- 30:36We're going to your class and getting your assignments and
- 30:38you're doing it here. You're not going to see people
- 30:40today. Travis, what did you do?
- 30:42I made fun of a kid and he told on me and.
- 30:46What did you say? It's the dumbest fucking thing
- 30:50there is. This I, I remember this story.
- 30:53If anybody knows this story, please tell me 'cause I want to
- 30:55look up this book. But it's this these two old
- 30:58people find this giant egg and they, they take the egg in and
- 31:04the egg hatches and it's a boy inside of it.
- 31:07But the boy is naked and you can see like his butt from the
- 31:11drawing. And like I took that page.
- 31:13It's like, ha ha, this is you. And then the kid got so fucking
- 31:17sad about it and told on me and I don't know why, but they like
- 31:23this like Travis, this is the worst fucking thing you could
- 31:26ever do. So I got in big, big trouble and
- 31:29I had to do AE. Wow, you're a.
- 31:31Bully. I don't even know what AE
- 31:33alternative education. What the fuck was it supposed to
- 31:36mean? It it was bad news though, so
- 31:39yeah. And I was there with the bad
- 31:40boys that day. I was, I was AI was a really
- 31:44dude. Well, I'm just learning a lot of
- 31:47things about you. You had to evaluate some stuff.
- 31:50It is what it is, man. You married me now it's too
- 31:53late. I'm Russell Crowe and it up.
- 31:56I was Russell Crowe and I was Russell Crowe back in elementary
- 31:59school. Don't tell me he wouldn't do
- 32:02that shit. My God.
- 32:03OK, my absurd. Yeah, seeing Brussel Crowe, that
- 32:06accent man, he. Does like four or three
- 32:11different accents in this movie. It's just we're slipping in and
- 32:14out. We're all over the place.
- 32:17It's a lot to take in. Also, Rachel, as a professional
- 32:23hair stylist, is not upset enough about Mary, her
- 32:27sister-in-law, using her hair cutting scissors to clip
- 32:31coupons. That's war.
- 32:34Yeah, that is war. I've threatened divorce when you
- 32:38like, picked up a pair of my sewing scissors and I was like,
- 32:40don't you dare cut anything with those.
- 32:42Yeah, I won't. My mom did that as a living too,
- 32:45so I know how important. Those scissors.
- 32:47Are, yeah. Yeah, she's not nearly upset
- 32:49enough. No, I mean she she even uses
- 32:52them at the end of the movie as like a stabbing weapon justified
- 32:55them. That's justified, but like.
- 32:57She was fully. Going to go to her best client's
- 32:59house with these duly duly these dull ass scissors like.
- 33:04No, yeah, she's gonna get fired regardless.
- 33:06Yeah, like Deborah was gonna be like, what the fuck is happening
- 33:09with my hair right now? OK.
- 33:12OK. All right, so let's do a rating.
- 33:15OK, Mari, this movie's good. I like this movie.
- 33:18It's a lot of fun. I think I'm gonna give it a 7
- 33:211/2. 7 1/2 I'm giving it an 8. Oh OK.
- 33:24I just, I just think it's neat. Yeah, I mean, that's like that's
- 33:29a good way to just wrap this one up.
- 33:30It's it's just an E movie. It's fun.
- 33:33Yeah. So 7.75 starting average and now
- 33:35we can talk at that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:38It's starting off. It's raining.
- 33:40There's a truck outside of the house.
- 33:42We see the driver. He takes some pills.
- 33:45We see that the house is for sale.
- 33:47Maybe this is his old house, I don't know, but he looks bound
- 33:50to determine. He walks up to the house with a
- 33:52match. Oh, he takes off his wedding
- 33:53band too, right after the fact, Yeah.
- 33:56He walks up to the house with a can of gasoline, a match and a
- 34:01hammer, and he goes into the He bursts his way into the house.
- 34:05He. Hammers down the door and then
- 34:07hammers down two people. Yep, and they're shouting at him
- 34:10and he doesn't care. He lights the house on fire.
- 34:14And then we cut to the radio. Just talking about road rage,
- 34:17talking about society's general anger, talking about mental
- 34:20health crises, talking about layoffs.
- 34:22I mean, it's just not good. It's not a good Newsday.
- 34:25It's overweight with like all kinds of real clips too of shit.
- 34:27I mean, like, like I said, I I go to that, I see a lot of that
- 34:31shit online. I feel like I've seen a lot of
- 34:32those clips before. Like it?
- 34:34It's some bad shit. We got to a phone ringing next
- 34:38to a man who's falling asleep on the couch while reading How to
- 34:41Help Your Child Cope With Divorce.
- 34:44So yeah, we're we're getting her side of this as well.
- 34:47They're really laying down the groundwork here, like so, yeah,
- 34:50yeah. She's depressed.
- 34:51She's sleeping in. She didn't have her alarm.
- 34:53And this is her house, which we find out because for a minute I
- 34:56thought maybe she was staying with Freddie and Mary.
- 34:57But no, Freddie and Mary are staying with her, and they're
- 35:01trying to sell their mom's house because she's got to go to
- 35:03assisted living. So she's living on the couch in
- 35:04her own house. Isn't this her mom's house?
- 35:07No. Yeah, I thought it was her mom's
- 35:09house. No, that's what they go to at
- 35:10the end. OK, I thought it was the same
- 35:13place. No Gotcha.
- 35:14So she is getting a call from Andy, that's her friend and also
- 35:18her lawyer. And he's saying hey, your soon
- 35:21to be ex filed a motion. He wants to keep the house.
- 35:24And she's like, are you kidding? And he's like, I know you worked
- 35:27hard for it. All you have to do is say to
- 35:29file the motion and I will counter this.
- 35:31And she's like, I need to think about it.
- 35:33And he goes, you worked hard for this.
- 35:35Richard can't even hold down a job.
- 35:37Yeah, she's I I understand her take though, where she's like, I
- 35:40just wanted to be over with, which is exactly what happened
- 35:43to me. Whenever I got like rear-ended
- 35:45and like I just had like insurance calling me over and
- 35:47over again. I was like, fuck it.
- 35:48I don't like people are like Sue, Sue.
- 35:49I'm like, I don't want to fucking do like I just want this
- 35:51to be over with. I don't want to deal with shit
- 35:53anymore. Yeah, and I think the thing with
- 35:55her though, like it wouldn't be fair to displace her.
- 35:58And then that's also going to suck for her son.
- 36:00And, yeah, just just a lot. And she, you know, that's what
- 36:06she woke up to. Kyle comes downstairs and he's
- 36:08like, aren't you gonna get dressed?
- 36:10She was like, oh, is this not good enough to be your personal
- 36:12chauffeur? And he's like, you've got a
- 36:13client. She goes, no, I don't.
- 36:14He goes. And she's like, oh shit, yeah, I
- 36:17do. You know what else sucks for her
- 36:18son? The fact that she is not ready
- 36:20to take him to school on time. Yeah.
- 36:22This kid is suffering because of her, because he, he like, he
- 36:26warns her in a little bit, like three to 10 or three tardies as
- 36:28an automatic detention. This kid has to like suffer
- 36:30because of like her actions. Like, I get that the schools
- 36:33have to address tardies and truancy.
- 36:37They have to do it. But situations like this,
- 36:40they're punishing the wrong person.
- 36:41Yeah, I mean, the kid can't drive themselves to work or not
- 36:44work to school. Yeah, it's stupid.
- 36:47I mean, you could do a bus, but some places, I mean they're in
- 36:50the city. They don't always have buses
- 36:52that will drive you. Can be out of the city limits,
- 36:55Yeah. I mean, yeah.
- 36:56So yeah, I feel really bad for him that he's being punished
- 36:59because his mom is running late. Yeah, so they're there, and
- 37:05Freddie is watching a news report.
- 37:07No, Freddie is trying to FaceTime his mom and his mom
- 37:11does not know how to use the FaceTime or Zoom.
- 37:14Or whatever it is hard to wait. Yeah, it just had this happen to
- 37:18me earlier. Yeah, and that's really fun
- 37:20because I was listening to you have this conversation.
- 37:22You're like, no, no, no, but why are you doing it?
- 37:25No, you have to hit. Yeah.
- 37:27And that's that's exactly what Freddie is doing with his mom.
- 37:30And he's you know, this is where we kind of get he's like, I know
- 37:33you don't want to be an assisted living, but it's going to be
- 37:35better for you, safer. That's.
- 37:37Another ugly thing that's sad. Yeah.
- 37:38Some sad stuff that's just kind of swept away right there.
- 37:41Yeah. And then, like, you could see
- 37:44there's the TV on and there's a news report of the house that
- 37:47burned down. And then there's a neighbor that
- 37:49gets interviewed and she's like, yeah, I don't know.
- 37:51Like he, he wasn't a great guy. She had a restraining order
- 37:54against him. Yeah, we, we, we're not talking
- 37:57about this enough. You know, seems like maybe the
- 38:00restraining order didn't do shit.
- 38:02No. So the sister-in-law, like I
- 38:05said, Mary Shady, use the scissors for coupons.
- 38:08Not cool. Not cool, not at all.
- 38:10Not cool. A bunch of freeloaders in this
- 38:13house, I tell you. I get what she was doing.
- 38:15She was like, hey, I'm helping. I'm cutting coupons, but just
- 38:18not the right way. It's just, yeah.
- 38:21This is the type of shit that would be like on Am I the
- 38:23asshole? Like am I the asshole for
- 38:25blowing up at my sister-in-law for using my scissors to cut
- 38:28coupons? It would.
- 38:29Be a nobody's the asshole. No, this would be a no.
- 38:32This would end up being a not the asshole because like stuff
- 38:34would come out in the comments where like, OK, so they're
- 38:37staying with you rent free. He's trying to start his
- 38:39business, but he's failed starting it multiple times.
- 38:41And you're having to support your mom's medical bills and
- 38:46you're in the middle of a divorce.
- 38:47Girl, this is just this is the child that broke the camel's
- 38:50back. It's not about the coupons.
- 38:51It's about you having no support.
- 38:53That's what would end up happening.
- 38:54Oh. Probably.
- 38:55Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:56All right. So they're going to go to school
- 38:57now. And she goes outside, and
- 38:58they're loading up the car. She talks to her neighbor,
- 39:02Rosie, and she's like, oh, you got a new car.
- 39:04This will be important later. And she sees her drive off with
- 39:07a license plate that says Rosie on it.
- 39:08Yeah, Rosie one. Rosie one.
- 39:10Yeah, the OG. No, the original Rosie probably
- 39:14got just Rosie. It's like a gamertag on like
- 39:17consoles, yeah. Yeah, no, I get one on mine all
- 39:20the time because my first and now last name are incredibly
- 39:24fucking common. You're welcome.
- 39:26They are driving, they're on the road now and they're practicing.
- 39:29Fucking sucks. They're practicing vocabulary
- 39:32slash spelling. He's probably got a test that
- 39:34day. And yeah.
- 39:36And she has him check the traffic on her phone.
- 39:39And he's like, I like, don't do it.
- 39:42And she's like, we're going to do the freeway, it'll be fine.
- 39:44He goes, we were late the last two times we took the freeway.
- 39:46And she goes, you just said it's clear.
- 39:49And then get on the freeway and it is bumper to bumper.
- 39:52Yep and she gets a call. It is from the her ex, his dad.
- 39:58Yeah, Richard. Yeah, and like, he wasn't
- 40:01expecting Kyle to answer, but Kyle was like, hey, I got this
- 40:04new Fortnite strategy. Me and Freddie thought it up all
- 40:06by ourselves. Never before done in the history
- 40:09of time. And he's like, that's cool.
- 40:11I'm going to have to cancel my plans, though, buddy.
- 40:14And then Fred's like, oh, we're not Freddie.
- 40:17Kyle's like, oh, OK. And Rachel chimes in.
- 40:20And it's. Like cuz he's like, we'll plan
- 40:22something again soon. And she was like maybe just do
- 40:25spur of the moment cuz you can tell from his reaction and from
- 40:28her reaction that this is not the first, second or probably
- 40:32even third time that he's cancelled on plans that he's had
- 40:35with Kyle. Definitely not the last.
- 40:37And guys like, I just gotta make sure my boss is happy.
- 40:40Yep, Yep. OK.
- 40:41And I mean, maybe it's true, but also there's only so many times
- 40:45you can use that excuse, yeah. We're given enough context here
- 40:48to know that this is just a pattern.
- 40:50Yeah, with him, yeah, for sure. So they hang up and they hit
- 40:56traffic and she gets another call.
- 40:58This time it's from Deborah. This is one of her clients.
- 41:01She is a hairdresser, as we have pieced together.
- 41:04Here, she used to have a salon, but now she doesn't.
- 41:07And Deborah says, you know, ever since you lost your salon, I
- 41:11just, you're not reliable. And I hate to say this, but if
- 41:15you're going to be late, I just can't do this with you anymore.
- 41:17Yeah, She's like, hey, I got to be there at 9.
- 41:20Like I got a thing this morning. I need you there on time.
- 41:22Can you make it? She's like, yeah, I can make it,
- 41:25but I'm gonna be like 5 to 10 minutes late.
- 41:28Maybe 15 or. 20 Yeah. And she's like, are you fucking
- 41:30kidding? Me.
- 41:31And she's like, no, no, look, traffic's moving.
- 41:33And she's like, I don't believe you.
- 41:35You're a bad actress. Yeah.
- 41:37Yeah. And yeah, she just gets fired on
- 41:40the spot right there. And then she's upset.
- 41:44And then her and Kyle kind of have a boot and rally moment
- 41:48because they're both feeling real bad.
- 41:50And she's like what you say we take surface streets and get out
- 41:55of here and she pulls a real Dick move and just drives down
- 41:59the shoulder. Everybody's honking at her too,
- 42:02yeah. I agree.
- 42:03Yeah, yeah. I mean, not cool, man.
- 42:06So she gets on the exit ramp and she's stopped at a red light
- 42:10behind the truck. I just wanna say I thought it
- 42:13was really funny that the girl on the front of the truck covers
- 42:16the logo. Yeah, that was intentional.
- 42:19Yeah, very Hallmark right there. Yeah.
- 42:21And yeah, we see the light turn green and the truck just doesn't
- 42:25go. And she gives them a few
- 42:27seconds, but then when they don't go, she lays on the horn.
- 42:30And then she also swerves around, but you know what, like
- 42:34I'm not I'm not a person that will honk when the lights great
- 42:37like I will wait a decent amount of.
- 42:39Time. Same.
- 42:40Yeah. But there's a point in time
- 42:41where, like she did, she did it right here.
- 42:44But the thing about living in Lexington is that it's like a
- 42:485050 that you'll be out of red light, and if you're the first
- 42:51one there, that the person behind you will honk like a
- 42:55millisecond before the light turns green because they know
- 42:57it's about to turn green and they want you to go.
- 42:59And it's fucking infuriating. Well, not only that, just air on
- 43:03the side of caution. I like to let it be green for a
- 43:06second before I go because there's people that run red
- 43:08lights like bitches crazy. Yeah, it's it happens all the
- 43:11time, especially here. I don't know about where you all
- 43:13live, but it's a. Real problem.
- 43:15It is a big problem. You can't just go through a
- 43:17light as soon as it turns green here, because you are likely to
- 43:20get T bound. Yeah, so.
- 43:22But she did, right? Yeah, well, she weighted on
- 43:25pretty thick with the horn, but whatever.
- 43:26He was gonna be an asshole. They were both having bad
- 43:30mornings. Yeah, she drives past him in the
- 43:33red, the white turns red, and then she stopped by traffic and
- 43:37he pulls up next door, meaning he ran a red light.
- 43:40Fucking asshole. He he was one of those people
- 43:44that waited until the light turned red and then he just ran
- 43:46through it. I fucking hate those people.
- 43:49So he pulls up right beside them and then he motions in the roll
- 43:53down the window. Yeah.
- 43:53Kyle in the backseat. And Kyle fucking does it.
- 43:56She's like, Kyle don't do that. And he's like, I want to talk to
- 43:58him. Yeah, Russell.
- 43:59Crowe, come on, man. Yeah, how many chances am I
- 44:02gonna get to talk to Russell Crowe?
- 44:03And so he rolls down the. He's like, did your mom ever
- 44:07teach you about a courtesy tap? And Kyle's like, what the fuck
- 44:10is this? And he goes, it's where you see
- 44:12somebody and you need him to go. And you give a polite little
- 44:16toot. Toot.
- 44:17Yeah. She's like, I'm sure that's what
- 44:20your mom meant to do, right? And.
- 44:21She goes, no, I meant what I did, yeah, which I kind of
- 44:25respect. I love this She stood her ground
- 44:27and she is justified in doing so.
- 44:29There's and he's like, oh man, I'm sure your mom meant to
- 44:33apologize though, right You know, I'm sorry I was a little
- 44:36bit spaced out back there. You know I'm having a rough
- 44:39morning. You are too, right?
- 44:41You're sorry, right? And then?
- 44:42She's like, I'm not sorry. I have nothing to be sorry
- 44:45about. And then she's like, he's like,
- 44:48I'm sorry, I've been having a bad day and she's like, join the
- 44:50fucking club. And he's like, all right, well,
- 44:54son, your, your mom needs to learn today what a real bad day
- 44:58is. And.
- 44:59Then from behind them, we hear a.
- 45:03It's so fucking good. I I love the editor that did
- 45:08that. Whoever edited this movie, thank
- 45:10you so much. This is so fucking funny that
- 45:12he's pissed about this and then he immediately gets honked and
- 45:16she drives. Yeah.
- 45:18And then yeah, he. He comes and he cuts them off
- 45:21and Rachel and Kyle talking. I know it makes no sense.
- 45:26Rachel and Kyle talk. Fortnite family place
- 45:29distraction crash. I don't know what the fuck I
- 45:32don't. Know what are you talking about?
- 45:34I think she is trying to talk to him.
- 45:36She's like, hey, what's that? That's later, though.
- 45:39No, OK, OK, I know what it is. I know what it is.
- 45:42So he cuts them off and she like has kind of a swerving moment.
- 45:46And then Rachel, cuz Kyle is freaked out by all of this.
- 45:50And so Rachel is trying to distract him and starts talking
- 45:52to him about the Fortnite strategy.
- 45:54And he's like, you don't even care about Fortnite.
- 45:55She goes I care about you, it's fine.
- 45:58And then as they're like driving, she gets a little bit
- 46:06distracted and has like a little poop.
- 46:08And so and they arrive at school, she drops them off and.
- 46:13She promises to pick him up with a Butterfinger Blizzard after
- 46:16detention. And he's like, I just really
- 46:19want you to pick me up on time, that's all.
- 46:21That's. All I ask, that's all I care
- 46:22about. So Rachel then calls Andy.
- 46:25She's like hey, so I am having a fucking crazy morning.
- 46:30Had an asshole that's chasing me around you want to meet for
- 46:35breakfast instead of lunch cuz they had lunch plans.
- 46:37Yeah he's like OK fine. They set a restaurant to go to
- 46:40and. Then Darrow's in 20 minutes.
- 46:41Yeah, but then she walks down and she notices that her
- 46:44gaslight's on, so she's gotta get some gas.
- 46:47She's this woman. Like it's so realistic, but also
- 46:50like you want her to get her shit together a little bit.
- 46:55It's bad, man. She's in a bad.
- 46:56Place I get why her shit is not together, I don't.
- 46:58Know if you noticed, but when she turned on the car at first
- 47:01she had like, check engine lights on and everything.
- 47:03Yeah, her dashboards lit up like a Christmas tree.
- 47:05Yeah, so she stops and she gets gas and she gets some cash in
- 47:09the ATM and five lottery tickets.
- 47:13Yep, 5 Yep. She's she's really hoping that
- 47:16what Lady Luck's gonna be on her side.
- 47:18In a bottle of the fancy water. Yeah.
- 47:20Oh God, yeah. Yeah, that which honestly
- 47:23though, $3 for the fancy water, not a bad price.
- 47:27Now, yeah. Yeah, now.
- 47:29It's hard to say cuz water is also free so.
- 47:33Yeah, but it's the fancy water, yeah.
- 47:35So it's made. From melted snow from the Andes
- 47:38mountains or whatever shit I don't know.
- 47:39So I've heard from clouds. So she starts to walk outside,
- 47:43and she sees the truck pulled up at the pump behind her, and she
- 47:47freezes. And then the cashier's like, are
- 47:49you OK? And she's like, yeah, no.
- 47:52Yeah, and she explains what's going on.
- 47:54And the cashier's like you've been Rd. raged.
- 47:57And raged like what? And she's like Wayne, like,
- 48:01you've never heard of this before.
- 48:02Yeah, he a road rage and. So she's like, I'll call the
- 48:06cops. And she was like, I don't want
- 48:08to do that. I just don't want to go out
- 48:10there and Leo, I only got his name from IMDb.
- 48:14We do not get a name from him in the movie, but his name is Leo.
- 48:16I feel like he went on to the IMDb and put that name on there
- 48:18himself. I wonder if there was something
- 48:22cut. We're like, yeah, like
- 48:24introduces himself or something. My name is Lee.
- 48:26So yeah, he's like, what I'll do I I'll walk out with you.
- 48:29And she's like, you don't have to do that.
- 48:30He goes, I'm walking out anyway. I don't live in the gas station.
- 48:33And she's like, OK, that makes sense.
- 48:34So he's like, I'll go out there, I'll get the license plate for
- 48:37you. So that way you at least you
- 48:38have the license plates in case he starts getting weird again.
- 48:41So he goes out there. He walks around the truck, makes
- 48:45it known that he's walking around the truck.
- 48:47The license plate is 711 TPX. And Rachel starts to drive away.
- 48:53And he tells the man in the truck, Tom Cooper, perhaps,
- 48:57Yeah, tells him that you just need to chill out, dude.
- 48:59Yeah. Ain't worth it.
- 49:00You need to chill. Ain't worth it.
- 49:01Yeah, exactly what we were saying at the beginning of this
- 49:03episode. It's just not worth it man.
- 49:05Yeah, and then you know what? Tom Cooper says nothing.
- 49:08He just chases him with his truck, hits him and then throws
- 49:12him into the path of another car.
- 49:13Yep. So he gets really dead.
- 49:16Yeah, that's the thing, man. This movie, like I like that it
- 49:18does that. Like cuz I'm like OK, he got ran
- 49:20over. Like that's gonna be the last
- 49:21thing. Oh shit.
- 49:22Like he gets hit by another car. Just oh man, it catches you off
- 49:26guard. And so he follows her and she's
- 49:29in bumper to bumper traffic. And again, it's the sense of
- 49:32like, I'm in public so I should be safe.
- 49:33But no, he's just like going up and he's just nudging her.
- 49:38It's not just even a nudge. She's like, actually like
- 49:41ramming her with this truck and nobody is noticing.
- 49:43Well OK, so the person in the car next to her is on her phone
- 49:46texting. That's the thing, yeah, they're
- 49:48they're hammering on people being distracted drivers in
- 49:50this. Movie there's like 1 scene, I
- 49:52forget where it is. I didn't make the note of it,
- 49:54but a woman is doing her makeup. Yeah, she's like.
- 49:57Do a mascara. We'll get there.
- 49:59Exit RAM, Yeah. She dies.
- 50:02Let this movie be a lesson to everybody here.
- 50:04Don't road rage. Don't be on your phone.
- 50:06Pretty lashes aren't worth it. Yeah, it's not worth your life.
- 50:10People or Russell Crowe will kill.
- 50:12You. Yeah.
- 50:13He'll teach you, yeah. It'll happen.
- 50:15So she, it kind of makes her frantic.
- 50:19She's trying to drive away and she ends up like she's trying to
- 50:23find her phone, can't find her phone.
- 50:24And while she's like searching for her phone, trying not to be
- 50:27hit by him, she ends up going the wrong way down to one way
- 50:29St. and this woman yells at her and she's like, I'm sorry, I'm
- 50:33sorry. Yep, and she whizzes him there
- 50:37so. We cut to Darrow's.
- 50:39Yes, this is the restaurant that they were gonna meet at.
- 50:41Jimmy Simpson. Yeah.
- 50:43Andy, the lawyer, he's sitting there and he's like looking at
- 50:47his watch. He's getting impatient.
- 50:48I really wish this movie would tell us what time it is instead
- 50:51of just like hinting that she's. I want to know how late she is.
- 50:54It'd be nice. Yeah.
- 50:55Like they were supposed to be at 9.
- 50:57I think it was, is what they said before.
- 51:00But. Whatever.
- 51:00No, but because that's when she was supposed to go see Deborah.
- 51:03So that's there's no way it could have been 9.
- 51:05Yeah, I don't know. And when?
- 51:07Because when Tom comes in there and he is like, oh, are you
- 51:10Andy? I'm Rachel's friend.
- 51:12I'm new in town and he's like, well my 11:00 is about to be
- 51:16very angry so it's got to be close to 11.
- 51:19OK, Yeah, it's before lunch, we know that much.
- 51:21It's Christmas. That Kyle has to be really
- 51:23fucking late to school because most schools starts at like 7:30
- 51:25or 8:00. Yeah, 8:00.
- 51:27So. Yeah, she's really, really
- 51:30fucking bad at being a parent right now, OK.
- 51:33Like, I mean, I know she's got a lot going on in personal life.
- 51:35But yeah. You gotta prioritize certain
- 51:37things here. You gotta get your kids to
- 51:38school. I'm stressed because I don't
- 51:40know what time it is. I don't know how so late she is.
- 51:42I just knew she's late. She's.
- 51:43Stressful. I know.
- 51:46You should be stressed about Russell Crowe walking in on this
- 51:49restaurant and being like, I know Rachel.
- 51:51Hey, I'm old friend. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:53And he's like, it's. Like, well, since you've spoken
- 51:56to her, let her know I have to leave.
- 51:58And he's like, what if I call her and I'm able to get a hold
- 52:01of her? Would you buy me a cup of
- 52:03coffee? And he's like, all right.
- 52:08Is that what he says? I thought he.
- 52:09Says. You will call her.
- 52:15Been waiting the entire time to do that.
- 52:17It's so fucking good. So he rings up Rachel on his
- 52:23Andy's phone, and she's like, yeah, he uses Andy.
- 52:26'S phone to call Rachel, except he's not dialing Rachel's number
- 52:30because he's got Rachel's phone. Yeah, he waggled it through the
- 52:34window at one point. So she shows that he's got her
- 52:37phone. He has left a little flip phone
- 52:40in her glove compartment. I think it's his because he
- 52:42seems like the type of dude that'd be like fucking modern
- 52:44smartphone bullshit flip phones for me.
- 52:47So he calls her, and she's all confused and at first like, he's
- 52:52letting Andy talk to Rachel. And she's like, wait, no, what?
- 52:55What's happening? No, wait.
- 52:57And he's like, I'm just, I'm with your new friend Tom Cooper.
- 52:59He's got a sweet beard. And she's like, no, Andy, listen
- 53:02to me. And by that point, Tom has taken
- 53:04the phone and she can't warn Andy effectively.
- 53:10Just telling Russell Crowe like, hey, he's a psycho.
- 53:12He's the, I saw him kill a man. He's like.
- 53:14Yep, he said. Yep, and sure, sure enough, that
- 53:17was me. So he is like.
- 53:20She asked. She asked like, OK, what do you
- 53:23want from me? She says it's not what I want,
- 53:25it's what I need from you and. But OK, what is that?
- 53:29So he needs her to know what a bad day really is, is how he
- 53:33follows up. So he takes Jimmy Simpson, I
- 53:37keep one in just calling that takes Andy by the tie and just
- 53:40like slams his face onto the table and basically.
- 53:45His face up. Yeah, threatening.
- 53:47And then he takes a coffee mug and smashes him across the face
- 53:50with it and he is fully concussed and dazed and he was
- 53:53like, Rachel, any last words to your best friend?
- 53:55And she's like, what are you even on about?
- 53:56And then he stabs him with a butter.
- 53:58Knife. Oh my God.
- 53:59Through the back of the head, Yeah.
- 54:01In the neck. OK, well, either way, the amount
- 54:04of force to do that, holy fucking shit.
- 54:06Yeah, Yep. So he just like nobody there's
- 54:10I'm calling bullshit on one thing.
- 54:12I've seen enough of these videos.
- 54:14I keep saying that, but like somebody would have continued
- 54:16eating their meal. Somebody would have been totally
- 54:20unfazed by this in that restaurant.
- 54:21I've seen it too many times. It never fails.
- 54:25Maybe like you must be new to Daryl's.
- 54:27Yeah, shit happens here all the time.
- 54:29Yeah. And he just, like, gets up and
- 54:32then he's like, well, yeah, She's like, put Andy back on the
- 54:35phone. She's like, or he's like, I
- 54:37can't do that. She's dead.
- 54:38Why can't you do that? Yeah, he's dead.
- 54:40So he starts sending Rachel contact information from her
- 54:45phone to the cell phone he has. And he was like, so listen, we,
- 54:50I am fine, both dying by suicide by cops.
- 54:54So go ahead and call them if you want.
- 54:55But I'm going to do some stuff first.
- 54:57So you can either give me a name and I'll go kill them or I'll
- 55:01play Russian roulette with your phone.
- 55:02I see we've got Kyle's school information in here.
- 55:05We've got your brother Freddie. Oh, here's where your mom lives.
- 55:09And eventually, she says, Deborah.
- 55:11Yeah, and it's so funny that Deborah, like the person that
- 55:14fired her. Yeah.
- 55:15And he's like, what did Deborah do to you?
- 55:17And she goes, fired me this morning.
- 55:20And he goes and I'm sure it was no fault of your own, dude.
- 55:26Do you not think anything that has happened to you has been
- 55:28your fault so far? No, no, he He's justified in
- 55:31every lack. Of self-awareness, yeah.
- 55:33So he. He's like, OK, I'm gonna do it.
- 55:38And she hangs up, She goes, and she makes it to Kyle.
- 55:43Well, she, she makes several calls to the cops.
- 55:47First she's like, she's like, I'm gonna need you to dispatch
- 55:49several people. Yeah, she calls 901.
- 55:52And so they arrive outside Deborah's house and the cops get
- 55:57to her in time. Yeah, she's just very confused.
- 56:00The news back at Rachel's house, Freddie sees the news talking
- 56:04about somebody dying at Darrow's.
- 56:06And Freddie is just like, hey, babe, have you seen this?
- 56:09And then he hears them say something about the suspect
- 56:11driving a Gray truck. And he looks outside and he sees
- 56:14a Gray truck, and he's like, babe, and we're just hearing
- 56:16banging around. So he grabs a knife to be safe
- 56:19and he goes into the next room and Russell go pops up right?
- 56:23With the bloody girlfriend. Yeah, he's got fiance.
- 56:26Fiance. Yeah, he's got married and he's
- 56:28like, my God, please let her go. And then Russell Crowe just.
- 56:31To be fair, though, it's something like Freddie wasn't
- 56:33quite sure. Yeah, it kind of sounds like he
- 56:34proposed in that moment. Like girlfriend, fiance.
- 56:37Yeah. Like they just got engaged over
- 56:40a bowl of cereal this morning or something.
- 56:42Yeah, like he popped the question, but she never gave an
- 56:45answer. Yeah, like, I don't know,
- 56:46girlfriend, fiance, like. The end of the Strangers.
- 56:53He's holding her hostage and then he's got the knife.
- 56:56He's backed up to the wall and he basically just like, forces
- 56:59her onto his knife over and over again.
- 57:02Yeah. Why are you stabbing her?
- 57:03Why are you stabbing her? Yeah, so Rachel gets to the
- 57:06school and she gets a text from Tom with a picture of Freddie,
- 57:11and he calls and says she has three minutes, so she better go
- 57:14really fast. So she goes inside.
- 57:16She's freaking out. She's like, you need to get Kyle
- 57:17now. And the principal's like, the
- 57:19school's on lockdown. And Rich was like, yeah, that's
- 57:21because of me. I need my son like my brother's
- 57:24gonna die. Please just get Kyle out here.
- 57:26Thankfully they got the news on and they got pictures of that
- 57:29guy. She's like, well, here's him,
- 57:30this is me, this is my brother. Right there and then.
- 57:33I love it cuz this it's not even lunchtime yet, right?
- 57:36And so she has come and picked up Kyle, and Kyle was like, do
- 57:38you have my Butterfinger Blizzard?
- 57:41Like priorities, kid. Yeah, like mom is freaking out.
- 57:45It's the middle of the day, the school's on lockdown and you're
- 57:47asking about read the room. Also, while all that's been
- 57:50happening, we've gotten shots of of Russell Crowe making Freddie
- 57:53write a suicide note, basically. Yeah, saying like Rachel, I hate
- 57:58you. This is all your fault.
- 58:00Yeah, you should feel bad. He's also dousing him with a
- 58:03lighter fluid. Yeah, and Freddie Peas himself.
- 58:06So we're just not respecting Fred.
- 58:07Any time that happens in the movie, I always am like, why?
- 58:10Like you you do we really need to do this to this character.
- 58:14Did we? Yeah.
- 58:14Did we need a long shot of his pee falling from?
- 58:17The was it that important? Like, we got to get this shot,
- 58:20folks. So he calls back as they're in
- 58:24the car and he makes Freddie read like he makes Rachel put
- 58:28the phone on speakers that way. Kyle listens to all of this and
- 58:32he makes Freddie read the note out loud.
- 58:35And I wrote because his his accent, his real accent came out
- 58:40because he goes write the letter.
- 58:45So he starts to read the letter, but as he's reading it, cops
- 58:48show up. Yeah, hold the gun to him.
- 58:50And Freddie. Tom lights Freddie and pushes
- 58:55him in the wheelchair. Door.
- 58:56Oh my God, yeah. Which is it's fucked up, but
- 58:59also like what a wild human weapon.
- 59:02It's really funny because he glides him on fire and rolls him
- 59:04in. Fred's like, yeah.
- 59:06And the cops shoot at him and he just kind of like, tumbles
- 59:08through the door. Yeah, it gets him right in the
- 59:10shoulder. And he calls back.
- 59:13He is driving away from the house and he says Fred's dead,
- 59:17babe, Fred's dead. So he's like, all right, She's
- 59:21like, don't, he's like, all right.
- 59:24So I got my next target now. How's Kyle doing?
- 59:28And she's like, don't you fucking do it?
- 59:30Don't you talk to Kyle. And she destroys the phone, and
- 59:33Kyle is like, hey, didn't you have your tablet in here?
- 59:36And she's like, yeah, somewhere. And so he's looking around for
- 59:39it, finds it taped to the underside of the seat.
- 59:41Did she do that? No, he did that.
- 59:44Which is kind of wild because I don't.
- 59:46She didn't even remember she had her.
- 59:47Tablet. It seemed like she was lying at
- 59:49first because he's like, hey, can I call dad?
- 59:51And she's like Oh no, no, we don't have anything.
- 59:53He took my phone and she's like, Oh well, you can make calls with
- 59:55your tablet and she's like, oh, it might be in here still.
- 59:59Maybe you look around I. Didn't want to, No, I think she
- 1:00:01really didn't remember that she had the tablet.
- 1:00:04So he finds it and he's like using the Find my phone to try
- 1:00:08and track him. Like they're doing a reverse Uno
- 1:00:11and oh man, guess what? That's the neighbor's minivan.
- 1:00:15But that's not Rosie and the driver's seat.
- 1:00:18Yeah, I think I like, it's kind of funny seeing this because
- 1:00:21they see a cop ahead too. And like, OK, speed up just a
- 1:00:25little bit. Don't draw attention, Bill,
- 1:00:26let's flag down that cop. Yeah.
- 1:00:27And like they like slowly go past him and I like that shot of
- 1:00:30him just like he's like rubbing his shoulder.
- 1:00:32And then he like, sees him, he kind of like hunkers down and
- 1:00:34just like it's like, it's like aerodynamic posture.
- 1:00:39So they get up to the cop, they roll down the window and they
- 1:00:43flag him down and like, hey guy, that you looking forward right
- 1:00:45behind you. And then before the cop can
- 1:00:48really process what's happening, Tom comes up and hits him with a
- 1:00:52minivan and the cop just like, explodes.
- 1:00:55The cop wrecks, OK, Like he spins out and then he stops, and
- 1:00:59then out of nowhere, fucking truck just demolishes him.
- 1:01:03Cool boy. Yeah, so now there's another
- 1:01:06chase going. So they're trying to use the
- 1:01:07tablet to call the cops, but the cops are like, we're too busy,
- 1:01:10like we've got too much shit happening.
- 1:01:12I don't know if you heard the news this morning, but we're all
- 1:01:15time record low staffing of cops.
- 1:01:17It's bad. There's a guy that's just
- 1:01:19killing people. Don't know if you're aware about
- 1:01:21that. Maybe, maybe pay attention to
- 1:01:23other people, ma'am. It'd be funny if they're like,
- 1:01:25and there's a guy following me in the truck, he's mad at me,
- 1:01:27like, oh, he's Rd. raging. It'd be funny if everybody's
- 1:01:30just like, Oh yeah, he's Rd. raging.
- 1:01:32Yeah, but then the tablet dies because it was very dead.
- 1:01:36So they. So this is, by the way, where we
- 1:01:39get the woman doing her makeup, they're chasing, they're on the
- 1:01:41freeway, she's just doing that. And then like, he's over there,
- 1:01:45He's doing anything he can get to, like, keep up with him.
- 1:01:48So he's running into people left and right and he runs into them.
- 1:01:51She slams into like the medium railing and it just like
- 1:01:54obliterates her. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:57So they make a plan. They're going to go to grandma's
- 1:01:59house because the streets are very confusing.
- 1:02:01So they think, first of all, they can get lost, and then they
- 1:02:03can use the alarm there to call the police.
- 1:02:06So that's what their current plan is.
- 1:02:08And they're going to use the Fortnite strategy.
- 1:02:10So they go, and they end up losing them at a turn, so we
- 1:02:14can't keep following them. They get to grandma's house.
- 1:02:18We don't hear the full plan, but she's like OK, just stick to the
- 1:02:21plan. And so Kyle runs inside, hits
- 1:02:23the panic button, waits to see that it connected and it's
- 1:02:25calling the cops. And then he goes and hides and
- 1:02:27grandma's sweet like secret closet room.
- 1:02:30So we. Were talking we want one of
- 1:02:32these. Yeah, I wish we had like the
- 1:02:34space in our house to have a secret room like that.
- 1:02:36What if we find one one day? Like Oh my God, what is this?
- 1:02:40We would be bending the laws of physics because there's no space
- 1:02:44to have a secret space in here. Jesse that's generally how
- 1:02:47secret rooms work. They exist beyond.
- 1:02:52Physical, boy. Yeah, OK, OK.
- 1:02:56The physical. Realm so OK, he's been searching
- 1:03:00around the entire neighborhood and.
- 1:03:01He's Rachel's car cuz she's in a maroon station wagon field that.
- 1:03:04She pulls in and then part of her plan is that she gets, she's
- 1:03:09like waiting for him and she floors it and runs into him as
- 1:03:12he pulls into the driveway. Yeah, except what he does is he
- 1:03:16survives that, gets up and he goes over to the driver side
- 1:03:19door and just slams her into the fucking.
- 1:03:21Trash. Oh my God.
- 1:03:21Yep, beating the shit off her and she somehow manages to get
- 1:03:24free and run inside the house. Yeah.
- 1:03:26And so he has like, done this, walked into the house and he's
- 1:03:29looking around for Kyle. Rachel has managed to sneak past
- 1:03:33him and get to the attic first, but not not sneaky enough
- 1:03:37because Tom has found her and immediately follows into the
- 1:03:41closet so. He's doing the fake cop thing to
- 1:03:43try and wear out Kyle's like son, he's doing another accent
- 1:03:47here. Yeah, he's like, I recognize
- 1:03:49that nonspecific accent anywhere.
- 1:03:53Yep. So Yep, they get into a little
- 1:03:55struggle in the secret room getting Rachel and him and then
- 1:03:58she finds like some old weapons there and is able to fight back
- 1:04:02pretty pretty well. Yeah, except then he ends up
- 1:04:05hitting her and throws her onto the bed and while she's knocked
- 1:04:07out he grabs a lamp cord and he is starts choking out Kyle.
- 1:04:13Rachel wakes up and says oh hell no.
- 1:04:15Days. She's got the candy cane
- 1:04:17scissors. Candy cane scissors.
- 1:04:19She jumps up and stabs him in the eye and he's just kind of
- 1:04:21looking in disbelief. And she goes.
- 1:04:22Here's your courtesy tap. Boom.
- 1:04:25Hell yeah, it's so good. It's so it's, yeah.
- 1:04:29And that's it. They just, they like, ride off
- 1:04:31into the sunset. Boom.
- 1:04:33It's great. They don't really ride off into
- 1:04:35the sunset. The cops arrive.
- 1:04:36Yeah, the cops arrive and then like, they pull her to the side.
- 1:04:40We stick with Kyle here, and it's just like, nothing.
- 1:04:43You think it's bad news, but then she comes over and she's
- 1:04:45like, oh, Freddy's alive. I want to say props to the
- 1:04:48makeup department because he's got like a nice little line of
- 1:04:51bruise around his neck. Yeah.
- 1:04:53So they did a really good job. Yeah, they did.
- 1:04:55So they are gonna go say hi to Freddie at the hospital and
- 1:04:59they're driving down the road and then they stop at a red
- 1:05:02light and then the light turns green.
- 1:05:04They started to go and just like we were talking about before,
- 1:05:07somebody runs, a red light almost hits them.
- 1:05:10Audacity to ask them what's wrong with them.
- 1:05:12I know, I hope that they looked up and saw that and they felt
- 1:05:15like an asshole afterwards. And she had almost honked the
- 1:05:19horn and she didn't. And Kyle goes.
- 1:05:21Good call. Yep.
- 1:05:22And then they ride off into the sunset.
- 1:05:24Yeah, Yep. God, I love this movie.
- 1:05:28I think it's just I'm gonna keep it in eight.
- 1:05:29I'll put months in eight also. Yeah, this is a really fun
- 1:05:32movie. I get it.
- 1:05:34Keeps the action to pace. It's just fun, man.
- 1:05:36It's a good ride. Yeah, you don't think about it
- 1:05:40too hard, but it's fun. It's a good time.
- 1:05:42Yeah, again. I would cut the Freddy stuff
- 1:05:45though. I'll get my bat side started
- 1:05:47with the World War One. But you know, I feel like
- 1:05:49cutting that stuff was just, it didn't really, it wasn't really
- 1:05:52sufficient. There are so many opportunities
- 1:05:54for us to see the time, like between being inside the car and
- 1:05:57her using the phone. I wish we had a better idea of
- 1:05:59the time. I can't believe that's your
- 1:06:01actual like this annoyed the hell on me.
- 1:06:03Stresses me out Travis IF. You were like an actual
- 1:06:05legitimate movie critic. I would be afraid whenever I
- 1:06:09would see your name come up on a review.
- 1:06:10Like what the fuck did I do that would?
- 1:06:12What is she? Annoyed during this time?
- 1:06:14Yeah, yeah, OK. Talia.
- 1:06:17She's pretty sleepy during this. She's not afraid of Russell
- 1:06:21Crowe. No, she loves Russell.
- 1:06:22Crowe she she loves Russell Crowe, but she was worried you
- 1:06:25were afraid, so she tucked. You in?
- 1:06:27She did. She tucked me in with a little
- 1:06:29fuck word dog toy. It was really sweet because we
- 1:06:32do that to her and she returned to favorite.
- 1:06:34It's like, I know you're afraid of Russell Crowe.
- 1:06:36It's OK. So I think Talia would also give
- 1:06:38this an 8. Yeah.
- 1:06:40Because it's great. Yeah.
- 1:06:42Zoe's ultimate warrior. I mean, obviously Russell Crowe,
- 1:06:47obviously Russell Crowe I. Mean he starts out right off the
- 1:06:50bat, kicking down the door, so he kicks down doors all the time
- 1:06:53around here. He makes the diner his bitch.
- 1:06:57Yeah, yeah, like. Yeah, OK.
- 1:07:04Did you relate to? Oh yeah.
- 1:07:06Who did you relate? To who did I relate to?
- 1:07:16I guess I related to to Andy there, like getting fed up with
- 1:07:22people, like not taking time seriously.
- 1:07:25He was like, he was kind of making, like, old jabs at
- 1:07:28Rachel's tardiness. Yeah, which was fun.
- 1:07:32But like, you know, it's fair. Like, OK, like he got his dig in
- 1:07:36when she's like, all right, meet you there at whatever time.
- 1:07:38He's like, all right, Is that like, what's that?
- 1:07:40Rooney real minutes or 20 Rachel minutes?
- 1:07:42Yeah, yeah. And I could sense a little bit
- 1:07:44of like annoyedness there. Yeah, no, I'm going to agree
- 1:07:47with Andy is who I relate to too.
- 1:07:50There's a fantastic bit by Mark Birbiglia in one of his stand
- 1:07:54up. Specials.
- 1:07:55Yeah, the tardy people. Yeah, he talks about late
- 1:07:57people. Yeah, he's like, I'm not a late.
- 1:07:58I'm an all time person. My wife, he's a late person.
- 1:08:01He's got a great, great bit about it, yeah.
- 1:08:04They always show up like a mess, like all right, this is how I
- 1:08:06am. Sorry about that.
- 1:08:08I really took out on that since too, because I've been there.
- 1:08:10I've waited for like people to come pick me up for hours at a
- 1:08:13time. OK, I think instead of doing
- 1:08:17Dream Sequel, I want to do your suggestion that you came up with
- 1:08:19last night. Yes, our ideal playlist for
- 1:08:22Russell Crowe's character. We can't do a sequel without
- 1:08:25Russell Crowe, so we're gonna do what is Russell Crowe's
- 1:08:28playlist. And I cuz it started because
- 1:08:31when he lit the fire I started singing that Rihanna and Eminem.
- 1:08:36Yeah, I, I is that the one that's like, I'm not afraid.
- 1:08:41No, I want that on this playlist.
- 1:08:43You want that one? Too.
- 1:08:44You know he's got at least one Kid Rock song.
- 1:08:47Oh my God. Yeah, which one?
- 1:08:55Yeah, let's see. I think he's got sticks selling
- 1:09:03away on there. No.
- 1:09:06He's he knows this is his last one.
- 1:09:08He's like I'm selling away y'all?
- 1:09:09No, he would definitely do Hangman.
- 1:09:13Hangman. Yeah.
- 1:09:14How's Hangman go? The jig is up the news.
- 1:09:17Is out, they finally found. Yeah, OK.
- 1:09:21Yeah, he's got that. I think he would have the what's
- 1:09:24that one? I was a bartender.
- 1:09:27I really did it. This time, Britney Spears.
- 1:09:31Oops, I did it again. I didn't start the fire.
- 1:09:38He's got some Billy Joel in there.
- 1:09:40Yeah, let's see. We didn't start the fire.
- 1:09:45That's what it is. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:09:46It is trying to think would be another good one.
- 1:09:51Man, yeah, what would be a good one for him?
- 1:09:53I feel like he would just have some ACDC like.
- 1:09:55Just I was thinking of some ACDC.
- 1:09:57Yeah, because of maximum OverDrive.
- 1:09:59You got the car. He appreciates the carness of
- 1:10:02this. Yeah, which this might make you
- 1:10:07laugh, but I started reading Shawshank Redemption and well, I
- 1:10:11started bringing Different Seasons, which has Shawshank
- 1:10:14Redemption, and it's the first one, but like, he put quotes at
- 1:10:17the beginning of it and one of the quotes was just Dirty D It's
- 1:10:20done dirt cheap, really. TDC, yeah.
- 1:10:24I like that, yeah. But I think it would, I think it
- 1:10:27would be Thunderstruck would be his song because that's like
- 1:10:30that's a good like, like that's a good like hype song.
- 1:10:36Or no, I think he's dynamite cuz I'm TNT.
- 1:10:41I'm dynamite cuz he's ready to explode.
- 1:10:45Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 1:10:48I think he would also have a 7 nation army.
- 1:10:52Yeah, cuz he feels like he's an army.
- 1:10:54Yeah, right now he's a 7 nation army all on his own here.
- 1:10:56Yeah, this is really just kind of a generic playlist, generic
- 1:11:00angry white man playlist, but that's.
- 1:11:02Exactly. The man that we're dealing with
- 1:11:04here. Yeah, all.
- 1:11:05Right. Some bangers.
- 1:11:07Yeah, let us know. Maybe that can be our open-ended
- 1:11:10poll, like instead of the traditional poll like.
- 1:11:13What songs would you add to Tom Cooper's playlist?
- 1:11:16I kind of want to actually put. Yeah, no, I was gonna say we
- 1:11:20will make the playlist once we have everybody's suggestions.
- 1:11:23Yeah, this week's poll not gonna be a poll.
- 1:11:26I'm gonna do a question. I want you all to put what his
- 1:11:29playlist? Yeah.
- 1:11:30What song you think would be in his playlist?
- 1:11:32Just one song, just one song, and we're gonna put the playlist
- 1:11:34together. And you know what we're gonna
- 1:11:35do? I want this to please do this,
- 1:11:38because I want to actually make a Spotify playlist with all
- 1:11:41these songs and share with everybody.
- 1:11:42Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, cool.
- 1:11:44Please do this, people. This will be on Fridays.
- 1:11:46This will be on Friday. We'll look for this on our
- 1:11:48Instagram, yes, Or I'll post it on Blue Sky also.
- 1:11:52OK. All right.
- 1:11:54OK, new tagline. OK, so the original he can
- 1:11:59happen to anyone. He can happen to anyone.
- 1:12:01OK, so I think it would be funny to do like a bumper sticker.
- 1:12:05The first one that came to mind to me is Honk if you're sorry.
- 1:12:09Oh my God, I love that. But then this also made me want
- 1:12:13to look up like honk bumper stickers and there's one that I
- 1:12:17I found that just made me like bust out laugh.
- 1:12:19It just says don't honk, I'll come.
- 1:12:21Oh my God, I'm sorry. Also, honk if you honk with the
- 1:12:26goose. I like Honk if you're sorry.
- 1:12:30OK, Honk. Yeah.
- 1:12:31OK. Cool.
- 1:12:34All right, cool. So I guess it's time for
- 1:12:37reviews. Yes, yeah.
- 1:12:39So I've got 2 because you didn't believe that this was the
- 1:12:42extended review. I read this to you last night
- 1:12:45and you're like, no, read no more, I want to hear the rest
- 1:12:48tomorrow. And I was like, no, that's the
- 1:12:49only sentence in the review. That was so disappointing,
- 1:12:53please let the people know. 4 out of 10 Dumb.
- 1:12:57That's it. The No, that's the title.
- 1:12:59The woman in the movie tried her best to avoid calling a police.
- 1:13:03She called the police so many times dude.
- 1:13:05That's it, right? Yeah, that's the entire view.
- 1:13:08What the fuck? OK, here's an actual like more
- 1:13:11thought out reveal. OK this is a one out of 10.
- 1:13:15This movie deserves to catch COVID.
- 1:13:17What the fuck? OK, this is definitely during
- 1:13:19COVID. Since it really is October 22nd,
- 1:13:21Yeah. OK.
- 1:13:23Please ignore any reviews above the five Russell Crowe bodysuit.
- 1:13:27Or just fat. That's rude.
- 1:13:29Oh, come on. Either way, it looks like he's
- 1:13:30given up on life. Yeah, that's his fucking
- 1:13:32character. Shame he didn't give up with
- 1:13:34this movie. It's plain awful.
- 1:13:37A simple plot choice which had to be wildly exaggerated, yet
- 1:13:39still follow the same predictability and mundane tone.
- 1:13:42So many bloopers, so many unnecessary predictable moments.
- 1:13:46No characterization at all, no in depth background of any
- 1:13:48character. Just a silly boardroom idea I
- 1:13:50brought to the big screen, which I imagine 90% of the budget was
- 1:13:53spent on casting Crow. Let's face it, his acting skill
- 1:13:56makes movie but not even this one was salvageable with 10A
- 1:13:59listers dialogue, terrible plot, predictable acting, all but crow
- 1:14:05atrocious point none. Glad I streamed this movie for
- 1:14:09free because I would have been fuming if I paid to watch it.
- 1:14:12Avoid like COVID-19. Damn scathing.
- 1:14:16Yeah, I. Who are the other A listers?
- 1:14:18The only I don't even I wouldn't even call Russell Crowe really
- 1:14:21an A Lister if I'm being real. I I don't know, I don't know who
- 1:14:26they're referring to or if they're saying like if they
- 1:14:28cast. 10A Listers, yeah. Like, I don't listen.
- 1:14:33It's not. This isn't meant to be an Oscar
- 1:14:36winning movie. This is like, yeah.
- 1:14:39Man. This is like this is junk food.
- 1:14:42This is a person that's like, I just don't think wrestling's
- 1:14:45real, y'all? I just.
- 1:14:47Don't believe it's real? You can see they're not really
- 1:14:49hitting each other. Yeah, like, I mean, I get it.
- 1:14:53Like, I mean, if like if you want something with a little bit
- 1:14:56more substance to it, this isn't gonna be that movie.
- 1:14:59This is gonna be a movie that it's there for the people that
- 1:15:02just want to turn their brain off and have a fun ride.
- 1:15:04Sometimes you just. Want to watch Russell Crowe be a
- 1:15:07menace? That's all I wanted, yeah.
- 1:15:10I always acknowledge he did a good performance.
- 1:15:13And we need to start with body shaving in general, but
- 1:15:17especially celebrities like. It happens, man.
- 1:15:20You know, I actually find it refreshing this year.
- 1:15:22So he's like slipping the real bodies.
- 1:15:24He's 56 years old. He's done gladiator.
- 1:15:27He doesn't have to keep keep that shit.
- 1:15:29Up would you rather see that or see them all plastic surgeried
- 1:15:31up and like you know? No, because people are fucking
- 1:15:34brutal to Millie Bobby Brown right now.
- 1:15:36She has surgery. Yeah, she's done, like, a lot of
- 1:15:38fillers and stuff in her face and like, they're just being
- 1:15:40like, she's 21 and she looks 57. Yeah.
- 1:15:44Like, she's probably doing all this because you guys have been
- 1:15:47objectifying her in the media since she was, like, 15.
- 1:15:50Yeah. Get it?
- 1:15:54Yeah, yeah. So it's just I don't like, we
- 1:15:56don't need to do. Yeah, he's a bigger guy, but
- 1:15:58also that kind of makes it intimidating.
- 1:16:00Like he's just barreling at them.
- 1:16:01I I like it. I like seeing realness in
- 1:16:04Hollywood. Yeah, personally, you know, but
- 1:16:06I mean, everybody's inclined to make themselves look however
- 1:16:09they want to be. They're their own people.
- 1:16:10So yeah, stop, stop doing that. Don't do that.
- 1:16:12Don't be like Emma Stone and Zombieland.
- 1:16:15Like and there was, yeah, exactly.
- 1:16:17But like there is no need to put that in the review.
- 1:16:19Like cheap shot? Yeah.
- 1:16:22So OK. Do we have any listener reviews?
- 1:16:24We don't. No, I'm.
- 1:16:26Sorry. Yeah, Look, if it's because you
- 1:16:28guys haven't watched it, please change that because it's a fun
- 1:16:31movie. We recommend it, and it's on
- 1:16:33Netflix now. You don't have to actually pay
- 1:16:35unless you have to pay for that, but you can do a free trial.
- 1:16:38Yeah, yeah, I guess it's a good time.
- 1:16:42Absolutely recommend it. So that brings us to the next
- 1:16:47movie. Have you decided?
- 1:16:49I believe I have. OK.
- 1:16:50Is it my pick? No.
- 1:16:51Yes. OK.
- 1:16:52So I can't. I feel like we've watched this
- 1:16:55one, but I can't remember if we did.
- 1:16:57So it might be it's gonna be one that we really remember or we
- 1:17:00know for sure, but I'm gonna pick the Howling.
- 1:17:04Oh, we have watched it once together.
- 1:17:06That's what we're. Excited about this?
- 1:17:08That's a fun movie. Joe Dante, man, we get some Joe
- 1:17:11Dante up in here. I fucking love that guy.
- 1:17:13He's an amazing director, so I'm really excited for it.
- 1:17:16It's I wanted to get werewolves because we haven't talked about
- 1:17:20werewolves on here yet, and I'm wanting to try and get some
- 1:17:22variety here with the this month's lineup.
- 1:17:25Yeah, we went really, really dark and sad last month and I'm
- 1:17:28wanting to like shake it up and have some fun this month.
- 1:17:31Yeah, that's what I wanted to do on him.
- 1:17:32Yeah, exactly. I was like, this is gonna be
- 1:17:34fun. And I knew that we were already
- 1:17:35doing insanely canopy with Texas Chainsaw Massacre too, so let's
- 1:17:39get some like, creature feature. Let's get some werewolves up in
- 1:17:41here. So where can people watch that?
- 1:17:44They can rent it on well. I'm sorry, this could be one
- 1:17:49that people have too, on DVD and Blu-ray.
- 1:17:51Yeah, so we have it on Blu-ray. Yeah, so I'm excited.
- 1:17:55I'm excited to watch that again. Yeah, it's a, it's a good.
- 1:17:58It's a fun werewolf movie. OK.
- 1:18:00So in the meantime, we would like to thank our bubbies over
