- 0:11Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:15Speaker 1: of Long Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and today we are discussing Raise a Glass to Love,
- 0:23Speaker 1: the latest movie in Hallmark's Fall Harvest series. If you
- 0:28Speaker 1: are new to the podcast, we recap every Hallmark original movies.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You can take a look back at our library of
- 0:36Speaker 1: past recaps. We also do regular podcast episodes every Tuesday,
- 0:42Speaker 1: and this week we discussed our fall wardrobes, the habits
- 0:46Speaker 1: we're trying to break, the new things we're looking for,
- 0:48Speaker 1: our feelings on clothes after a year of wearing sweatpants.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So go ahead and give that a listen. But today
- 0:58Speaker 1: we're discussing Raise a Glass to Love. What are the
- 1:00Speaker 1: odds you have a synopsis?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Ah? Crap, I don't have it. I don't have a
- 1:04Speaker 2: computer with me. Wait, I have a phone.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I thought that's much. You were scrolling for me every week?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Every week. I forget you guys, Like how many weeks
- 1:16Speaker 2: we've been doing?
- 1:16Speaker 1: It was even delayed. I was like vamping, killing time.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Hold on, let me pull it up. Okay, here it is,
- 1:22Speaker 2: aspiring master Somma, Yeah, I can't do that. You wan
- 1:27Speaker 2: to say it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I don't know why you need to say it like that.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Whatever. She's like a wine lady. She returns to her
- 1:34Speaker 2: family's vineyard to study. I can't even can you read it?
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm reading the IMDb review. Raise the Glass to Love
- 1:44Speaker 1: follows aspiring master Somlier Jenna, who returns to her family
- 1:48Speaker 1: vineyard to study and is fascinated by the natural methods
- 1:51Speaker 1: of the new winemaker, Marcello. Let's do news and notes.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And this was filmed in British Columbia's supposed to be Sonoma.
- 2:02Speaker 2: It's not. Sonoma is located on the central coast of California.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Am I correct? Yes?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Have you been a Sonoma. I've never been there before.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I haven't been in many years, but yes, I've been once.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Did you do wine tasting? No? No, okay, it was
- 2:18Speaker 1: like a we went for dinner. We were in San
- 2:20Speaker 1: Francisco visiting people and went for dinner.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I jumped on the jet and flew over to Sonoma
- 2:25Speaker 2: for dinner and then flew back to us. That's right,
- 2:28Speaker 2: that's right, fancy.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So it stars Juan Pablo de Pace. I am probably
- 2:33Speaker 1: saying that wrong, is it depache?
- 2:34Speaker 2: I don't really know. I have no idea.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know either. He has quite an extensive filmography
- 2:40Speaker 1: if you look at his IMDb, not just Fuller House,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but he is most notably recognizable as Fernando from Fuller House.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Wendy has the dog full on climbing into her lap.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Did he lick your mouth my nose? Yeah, he's trying
- 2:55Speaker 1: to get comfortable. Okay, you can have that spot by.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Normally we lock him out, but there's too much happening
- 2:59Speaker 1: in the house. I'm sorry, it's okay, okay. Even my
- 3:03Speaker 1: children walked in the room, they're like, is that Fernando.
- 3:05Speaker 1: We'll talk a little bit.
- 3:06Speaker 2: More about him later. I hated the character Fernando on
- 3:09Speaker 2: Fuller House. It was so over the top. For me.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's very over the top. And I have to say
- 3:14Speaker 1: that I appreciated his character so much on this because
- 3:16Speaker 1: he has a real understated kind of vibe.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I agree, Yeah, yeah, his character.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I mean, you know, he's like the foil to Kimmy Gibbler,
- 3:23Speaker 1: so he had to be a little bit over the top.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Well, you know, I have a real like bone to
- 3:28Speaker 2: pick with Kimmy Gibbler character.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Why because somebody told you looked like her?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yes, I get real triggered.
- 3:35Speaker 1: She's first of all, I don't think you do. But
- 3:37Speaker 1: I also think she's a pretty adult. Yes, but we
- 3:40Speaker 1: looked like sisters when we were teenagers. Okay, yeah. Somebody
- 3:44Speaker 1: was like, is that Kimmy Gibbler.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I was like, fuck up.
- 3:47Speaker 1: She lives in Orange County. It also stars Laura Ostnas.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Would you like to talk about the controversy.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I want to hear it, and I know you know
- 3:55Speaker 2: more about it than I do.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So I was doing a little bit of research and
- 3:58Speaker 1: Laura Ostnas has made new lately because she has taken
- 4:02Speaker 1: some anti COVID vaccine stances, and there was some question.
- 4:08Speaker 1: She recently left a production. There was an article written
- 4:10Speaker 1: that had said she had been asked to leave. She
- 4:13Speaker 1: came out and said she left because COVID protocols changed
- 4:16Speaker 1: requiring the vaccine, and so she was no longer able
- 4:19Speaker 1: to stay on the production. There's some back and forth
- 4:22Speaker 1: going around. Of course, some people support her decision and
- 4:25Speaker 1: some people are saying there are going to be consequences.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Probably most famously, Javier Muno's who you will know best
- 4:33Speaker 1: from the cast of Hamilton played Hamilton, wrote an open
- 4:37Speaker 1: letter to her. It's on his Instagram and essentially said, look,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm not here to shame you, but I will tell
- 4:45Speaker 1: you that I stand behind did the decisions of places
- 4:49Speaker 1: like Broadway that's requiring vaccinations for all of its cast
- 4:53Speaker 1: and crew, requiring vaccinations for those attending shows. He has
- 4:57Speaker 1: a very personal story, both as someone who immunocompromised and
- 5:01Speaker 1: as someone who has had a lot of loss due
- 5:04Speaker 1: to COVID in his life, and so I think that
- 5:09Speaker 1: this is just something that people are going to have
- 5:11Speaker 1: to live with. If you are choosing not to get vaccinated,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think the consequences are going to be farther reaching
- 5:17Speaker 1: moving forward. And I think for someone she's better known
- 5:20Speaker 1: as a stage actress as opposed to a film actress,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and I think those live venues are going to be
- 5:26Speaker 1: harder and harder for her to work in for the
- 5:29Speaker 1: time being. And you said she had won a Tony
- 5:31Speaker 1: or was only not She was twice nominated for Tony.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So it's so interesting that the guy that played Hamilton,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I can't remember his name, that you just said that
- 5:41Speaker 1: I'm not saying he would come for her, but that
- 5:43Speaker 1: he wrote an open letter to her about it. Because
- 5:46Speaker 1: she's not like a big star name in Broadway is she?
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think she's big ish and I don't think the
- 5:52Speaker 1: community is that big.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Okay, interesting, very interesting. So I'm guessing Hallmark only requires
- 5:58Speaker 2: like a like a quarantine. Well maybe Canada requires the I.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Believe it's Canada that requires the quarantine.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I don't know what Hallmarks COVID protocols are on set.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I would imagine that there's testing requirements everybody. I know, everybody,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I know, the one person I know who works on television,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and then the podcast that I listen to where they
- 6:17Speaker 1: talk about it. I know that there have been testing
- 6:19Speaker 1: requirements on most film and television shows Got It, So
- 6:24Speaker 1: I would imagine that she participated in that Got It.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Also on this cast we have Beverly Elliott. She plays Peggy.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I believe she's aunt Peggy. I don't know, she's the redhead. Okay.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Well.
- 6:36Speaker 1: She was also in Don't Go Break in My Heart,
- 6:38Speaker 1: which was the breakup boot camp movie. But longtime Girls
- 6:42Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark listeners will know this is a running theme.
- 6:44Speaker 1: She also had a long time recurring role in Once
- 6:47Speaker 1: Upon a Time. I was gonna say it, I yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 1: as soon as her face popped on screen, I'm terrible
- 6:53Speaker 1: at recalling where I know someone from, but as soon
- 6:56Speaker 1: as she popped on screen, I said, I know her,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and so I had to go on for.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Whom she was interesting. I saw that this movie wrapped
- 7:06Speaker 2: filming July twenty fifth. That's kind of a long time
- 7:09Speaker 2: ago for a Hallmark movie. I think. Here's my thoughts. Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 2: this was going to go in the Summer Nights movie
- 7:19Speaker 2: lineup somewhere, and they just pushed it to Fall.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I feel like we can talk about this later. This
- 7:27Speaker 1: movie does not have a strong seasonal tie at all
- 7:29Speaker 1: any season, and I think sometimes they do that and
- 7:35Speaker 1: they leave it kind of open ended and it can
- 7:37Speaker 1: go one way or the other.
- 7:38Speaker 2: So maybe they didn't have enough movies for the Fall
- 7:41Speaker 2: lineup and then they were like, well, let's just throw
- 7:43Speaker 2: this guy in here.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because the final Summer Night's movie, Journey of My Heart,
- 7:49Speaker 1: wasn't strongly Summer other than she wears shorts in the movie.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So you know, it's one of those. And we know
- 7:57Speaker 1: that some of these movies come down to the wire.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So I make this speculation knowing absolutely nothing, but I
- 8:05Speaker 1: suspect that perhaps some of these things they just kind
- 8:10Speaker 1: of don't strongly tie to one season or another and
- 8:13Speaker 1: then use them where they need to.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I can imagine they have like a handful of
- 8:18Speaker 2: non themed movies and then when they just plug them
- 8:21Speaker 2: when they need to. Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 1: What was your first impression of this movie?
- 8:24Speaker 2: Let me see, I wrote down not good.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I wrote pretty to look at, but not much substance.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So boring, Like I can't even remember the middle part
- 8:33Speaker 2: of this movie. I very forgettable.
- 8:35Speaker 1: What did you like about this movie? Though?
- 8:38Speaker 2: A few things? Okay, First of all, the scenery beautiful, gorgeous,
- 8:42Speaker 2: beautiful part of British Columbia. I would love to visit there. Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I like the winery scenes. I like seeing them apple picking,
- 8:53Speaker 1: although I was like, is that real? I do think
- 8:54Speaker 1: that was a real apple orchard where they were, but
- 8:57Speaker 1: it was. I agree the scenery yet again.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Best part of the movie. I know they and when
- 9:03Speaker 2: they pull up to like her family house or whatever
- 9:06Speaker 2: it is, I thought it looked like the Bachelor house.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I know it's not, because I know The Bachelor is
- 9:11Speaker 2: not filmed in British Columbia, Canada, but it's film heare
- 9:15Speaker 2: in Los Angeles, right, But that style, it looks exactly
- 9:18Speaker 2: like it.
- 9:18Speaker 1: A Beautiful Home. I liked one Pablo. I enjoyed him.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Like you said, his Fuller House character's way over the top.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I just you know, he's kind of got that scruffy look.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's kind of soft spoken, He's very nice to look at.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I enjoyed his character. I just I enjoyed him. I
- 9:36Speaker 1: would be happy to see him return in another Hallmark movie.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I didn't I didn't hate him. I just didn't like
- 9:41Speaker 2: this role. I didn't like this movie. So I want
- 9:44Speaker 2: to see him as something different. And he has those
- 9:47Speaker 2: like really cute natural curls in his hair, but they
- 9:49Speaker 2: were always hanging down on his forehead and it drove
- 9:52Speaker 2: me nuts. I wanted to like push them out of
- 9:54Speaker 2: his face.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Do you think Queen of Christmas Candice Cammon Brewery had
- 9:58Speaker 1: a hand in him getting a role homework movie?
- 10:01Speaker 2: I bet he's like Candice, Yo, I need to work.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Can you hook me up with somebody at homework? Yeah? Yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 2: maybe right? Don't you think so? All right? I mean,
- 10:10Speaker 2: we're gonna see Kimmy Gibbler in a Christmas movie this.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Well, and I haven't we just haven't we seen Jody
- 10:15Speaker 1: Sweeten in a I love Jody Sweeten I follow her
- 10:19Speaker 1: on Instagram.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I she's damn funny. She has a really funny podcast too.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Really uh huh.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And I would love to see her in a Homewark movie. Yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 2: I would love it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: What did you wish for?
- 10:36Speaker 2: God?
- 10:36Speaker 1: This should be such an easy one.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I know, Okay, So I wished the first thing was
- 10:43Speaker 2: less whining from the lead character, the girl. I just thought, like,
- 10:48Speaker 2: you know, she didn't pass the test and this, and
- 10:51Speaker 2: then okay, I always and then I want to get
- 10:54Speaker 2: a job as a master saw him at her boyfriend's
- 10:57Speaker 2: restaurant or whatever. I like, you're so whiny. Stop it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I wished for less wine sniffing and swirling.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I so much right the whole movie.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I understand she has this big goal of becoming a
- 11:17Speaker 1: master som and that is a big part of the movie.
- 11:22Speaker 1: It was so much. It was so much swirling. Here's
- 11:29Speaker 1: what I wonder, if you are a wine maker, do
- 11:33Speaker 1: you have to do that with every single glass of
- 11:34Speaker 1: wine you doing?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Ever?
- 11:36Speaker 1: And maybe you do, But maybe we didn't need to
- 11:38Speaker 1: see it in the movie. I don't know.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I just maybe find it.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Hard to believe that every single time these people sit
- 11:45Speaker 1: down to dinner, they're sniffing and swirling their glass of
- 11:47Speaker 1: wine and if they are fine. But it was just
- 11:50Speaker 1: so much of this two hour movie. I was tired
- 11:54Speaker 1: of it.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I agree, I was tired of it. I was like, please,
- 11:58Speaker 2: no more with the sniff, Like, what did you say earlier?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Smells like ocean breeze or some like that.
- 12:05Speaker 1: She does say it smells like the ocean breeze.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Give me a break.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It doesn't smell like the ocean breese.
- 12:13Speaker 2: So I thought this story overall was boring, And like,
- 12:18Speaker 2: tell you what.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Jody Sweeten has been in one, two, three, four.
- 12:25Speaker 2: At least four? Well, not in the last year that
- 12:28Speaker 2: I've watched them, There's no way. Our most recent was
- 12:33Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, maybe this year. Anyway, Sorry, it's all right.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Like I said, I thought the whole middle part of
- 12:40Speaker 2: this movie was so boring. And was there a spelling
- 12:43Speaker 2: be in this movie? Or am I confusing it with
- 12:45Speaker 2: something else?
- 12:47Speaker 1: The spelling bee is in Taking the Leap?
- 12:50Speaker 2: But what is what is in this movie where Wan
- 12:53Speaker 2: Pablo to Pace is up against something with a little
- 12:56Speaker 2: girl bobbing for apple? Oh my god, see you guys
- 12:59Speaker 2: don't Oh oh, this makes so much more sense now
- 13:03Speaker 2: because I was like, why does he look so wet?
- 13:06Speaker 2: God does this look away from the screen. I was
- 13:09Speaker 2: probably scrolling on my phone for the ten minutes that happened. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 2: oh my god, that's so funny.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, do you have anything else you wished for?
- 13:21Speaker 2: I just wish that I cared more about these characters.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I did not at all. I didn't care if she
- 13:25Speaker 2: became a master som. I didn't care if he went
- 13:28Speaker 2: to Australia. I don't care if they got together at
- 13:30Speaker 2: the end.
- 13:31Speaker 1: So we haven't discussed Aiden at all. I don't even
- 13:34Speaker 1: know what category to put him in. The boyfriend oh.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Again, kind of problematic for me that she's flirting with
- 13:43Speaker 2: somebody when she's together with somebody.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking about that too. We have two
- 13:48Speaker 1: movies in a row where we have these relationships that
- 13:51Speaker 1: currently exist while the other relationship is developing. And while
- 13:55Speaker 1: I did not like Aiden at all, I mean I
- 13:57Speaker 1: felt like from the very beginning it was very clear
- 14:00Speaker 1: that he was not on team Jenna. It just seemed
- 14:04Speaker 1: so odd to me that we have this opening scene
- 14:07Speaker 1: and she like wants a job, is a smaller and
- 14:12Speaker 1: he has a restaurant, and like, why was there never
- 14:15Speaker 1: any discussion of her taking that job up until the
- 14:18Speaker 1: moment that she finally like breaks down and he doesn't
- 14:22Speaker 1: give it to her.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I don't And what is he the general manager of
- 14:25Speaker 2: the restaurant?
- 14:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I didn't fully understand
- 14:30Speaker 1: he owns the restaurant. Okay, whatever said, but I didn't
- 14:33Speaker 1: like him and he was kind of condescending to her.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And is he a master song? Oh? He is he is.
- 14:39Speaker 1: But still I mean, okay, okay, that's till I got
- 14:44Speaker 1: all right.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I have a couple. Did you see that? Okay? One,
- 14:47Speaker 2: Jenna is talking to somebody I don't even remember who,
- 14:50Speaker 2: but they're overlooking like the vineyard, and she says something
- 14:53Speaker 2: about fire season. Oh, and I was like, that's such
- 14:56Speaker 2: a California thing. Yeah. Fire season is a real thing
- 14:59Speaker 2: here in California. Yeah, we are probably in it right now,
- 15:02Speaker 2: don't you think so?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and northern California's on fire.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and especially on the Central coast, it's very likely
- 15:09Speaker 2: that that area burns this time of year or so.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It was funny that she'd mentioned fire season. I was like, yes,
- 15:15Speaker 2: this is somebody from California who wrote this.
- 15:17Speaker 1: So I have a dig.
- 15:18Speaker 2: You see that.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I have a couple, but none of them are directly
- 15:20Speaker 1: related to scenes in the movie, because I had a
- 15:23Speaker 1: really hard time finding did you see that moment in
- 15:25Speaker 1: the baby? So one, I have the question, Well, I
- 15:31Speaker 1: would just like to address there's no fall in this movie,
- 15:33Speaker 1: like at all.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I have that too, at all.
- 15:35Speaker 1: But I also did you know that they are launching
- 15:37Speaker 1: a Hallmark Channel wine club? No?
- 15:40Speaker 2: Is that why they did this movie?
- 15:42Speaker 1: I don't know, and I didn't watch any of the commercials,
- 15:44Speaker 1: so I don't know if they addressed it. But Hallmark
- 15:48Speaker 1: has sold wines in the past. They have Jingle and
- 15:50Speaker 1: Joy for Christmas, and then there's like Love and Bliss
- 15:54Speaker 1: or there's two kind of Valentiney themed wines and you
- 15:58Speaker 1: can order them online on their website, and I believe
- 16:00Speaker 1: they're about fourteen dollars a bottle, which is pretty reasonable
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think for yeah, this kind of themed wine. But
- 16:07Speaker 1: they are launching a wine club and you can get
- 16:09Speaker 1: a three, six or twelve dollars subscription that is delivered quarterly,
- 16:13Speaker 1: and the wine options have names like Autumn Dreams and
- 16:17Speaker 1: snow Kiss. Oh boy, I'm gonna order some report back.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I see.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so that could possibly have something to do with
- 16:28Speaker 1: why this movie was made. But I know you can
- 16:30Speaker 1: usually find those wines like at World Market of the
- 16:33Speaker 1: Hallmark Wines.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I oh so, I remember. I can't remember if
- 16:36Speaker 2: I saw it was the wines or it was something.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Team I've seen the teas.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Okay, so maybe not the wine but interesting, Yeah, so funny.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I agree. I have a note here that there's no
- 16:49Speaker 2: fall content in this movie. There's not a one fall decoration. Nothing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we were hit over the head with it in
- 16:55Speaker 1: last week's movie and now but.
- 16:57Speaker 2: We're watch I'm I'm mentally prepared for fall movies. Give
- 17:02Speaker 2: me all the fall feels, right, this had none of it.
- 17:06Speaker 1: My husband was like, was that festival of fall festival?
- 17:10Speaker 1: I mean bobbing for apples? But it didn't have a
- 17:13Speaker 1: fall festival feel. And that may have been what it
- 17:15Speaker 1: was called, but it wasn't like there were fake leaves
- 17:17Speaker 1: on the ground and it didn't feel like a fall
- 17:21Speaker 1: festival to me.
- 17:22Speaker 2: There was also another part in this movie when she
- 17:27Speaker 2: did finally get hired at Aiden's restaurant as the Mastersaalm.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Just to sell Malia she's not a mess whatever.
- 17:33Speaker 2: She didn't have her title yet. She was just the
- 17:36Speaker 2: so Malie that she was like, I'm going to wrap
- 17:40Speaker 2: up and leave early, and I was like, you're on
- 17:43Speaker 2: dinner service, lady. You can't like just be like, Okay,
- 17:46Speaker 2: I'm out of here. I gotta leave. And then she's
- 17:47Speaker 2: like and then tomorrow I can't come in, And he
- 17:50Speaker 2: was like, we need you. Yeah, you've hired you. You
- 17:52Speaker 2: need to be here. And she's like, how dare you
- 17:54Speaker 2: put all this pressure on me? When I heard my
- 17:56Speaker 2: test the big day, I was like, bitch, you took
- 17:58Speaker 2: the job. I was like, you don't get to dictate
- 18:01Speaker 2: your schedule now. Maybe you should have talked to somebody
- 18:04Speaker 2: about that before. Except hundred percent get out.
- 18:08Speaker 1: So in terms of becoming a master, so Maier, first
- 18:11Speaker 1: of all, Jennifer Huther plays herself in this movie. She's
- 18:14Speaker 1: one of only twenty eight female master psalms.
- 18:17Speaker 2: In the world.
- 18:18Speaker 1: But I have a couple so Malier comments. One is
- 18:22Speaker 1: I read a review on IMDb and the review said
- 18:26Speaker 1: the boyfriend of the female lead won't hire her because
- 18:28Speaker 1: she isn't a master sol Malier. I googled it and
- 18:31Speaker 1: there've only been two hundred and sixty nine worldwide who
- 18:34Speaker 1: have obtained it. Since the certification was created in nineteen
- 18:37Speaker 1: sixty nine, so the statistical possibility of his hire requirement
- 18:40Speaker 1: is beyond ridiculous, which agreed totally. Also, there has been
- 18:45Speaker 1: some controversy in the world the Master Soul Malier because
- 18:48Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen there was a cheating scandal at the test.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Apparently there was some information about the tasting portion of
- 18:59Speaker 1: the test that was released, and so there were Normally
- 19:06Speaker 1: the average is like seven people who pass. The year
- 19:10Speaker 1: before it had been like thirteen. This year it was
- 19:12Speaker 1: in the twenties, and all but one of them had
- 19:15Speaker 1: their titles revoked because one person took a separate like
- 19:18Speaker 1: he had done his tasting at a separate time, so
- 19:20Speaker 1: he didn't have the information, suspect. And since then nine
- 19:24Speaker 1: of them have taken and passed, but I don't know
- 19:28Speaker 1: if the others tried. There's a lot of information. I
- 19:31Speaker 1: didn't read all of the information, but if you google
- 19:33Speaker 1: so Malier cheating, there's a lot of information and apparently
- 19:37Speaker 1: it's a big freaking deal. I mean, make a movie
- 19:39Speaker 1: about that, yeah, And there is a if you want
- 19:43Speaker 1: more information. Because this is such a wild world to
- 19:47Speaker 1: me that I know nothing about, and as they're smelling wine,
- 19:50Speaker 1: They're like smells like plums, smells like slate, smells like
- 19:53Speaker 1: I'm like, what the heck are you talking about. There's
- 19:55Speaker 1: a documentary called PM It's from twenty twelve OMM and
- 20:00Speaker 1: if you want more information about what that actually is like,
- 20:04Speaker 1: you can check that documentary out. I actually my very
- 20:08Speaker 1: brief googling before recording. I think there's maybe multiple seasons,
- 20:11Speaker 1: but it is still out there.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Well full confession. I asked Megan before we started recording.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I was like, so, how do wines taste like certain things?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Because don't they just come from grapes? Like, I have
- 20:25Speaker 2: no idea, Yeah, how does it taste like plum and slate? Whatever?
- 20:29Speaker 2: What the hell isn't slate like a mineral?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, So I didn't know the answer to that, so
- 20:33Speaker 1: we googled it. And so basically, like the age of
- 20:38Speaker 1: the grape can affect like sometimes grapes smell or taste
- 20:42Speaker 1: like other fruits. The acidity and the soil I think
- 20:46Speaker 1: can affect how long something is fermented. So when they
- 20:49Speaker 1: say like, oh, it has notes of plum, it's not
- 20:51Speaker 1: that they're adding plum to it. It's just that something
- 20:54Speaker 1: about the way that grape was cultivated resulted in like
- 21:02Speaker 1: plumby taste. Also, if they're fermented in barrels, sometimes there
- 21:05Speaker 1: are flavors that the barrels can impart to the lines. Yeah, okay,
- 21:09Speaker 1: And then they were saying like vanilla or smoky or
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't know anything about wine quite frankly.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Nothing, zero things. Can we wrap this up? You want
- 21:18Speaker 2: to tell me what you thought about this movie?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Okay, Look, I know you're thinking, I'm going to give
- 21:22Speaker 1: it a one.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I'm not what.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I found this movie boring, but I didn't hate it.
- 21:31Speaker 1: It's a two. It's a two out of four stars.
- 21:32Speaker 1: For me, that's a fifty percent. That's not a great score.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But it's not a journey of my life, journey of
- 21:38Speaker 1: my heart whatever that on the wings of love. It's
- 21:42Speaker 1: not that. For me.
- 21:43Speaker 2: This was a two star.
- 21:44Speaker 1: It was a two.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I gave it a one. Sorry, just was not
- 21:49Speaker 2: into it whatsoever. Next week's movie is Taking the Reins
- 21:54Speaker 2: with Nikki de la Roach. Nope, that's nice. I wonder
- 22:00Speaker 2: how often that happens to her and is also in
- 22:04Speaker 2: it and Scott Porter. And Scott Porter you may know
- 22:08Speaker 2: as Jason Street from Friday Night Lights. He was also
- 22:12Speaker 2: in We discussed this last week Card of Dixie. I'm
- 22:15Speaker 2: kind of excited about this. I'm not zero person excited
- 22:19Speaker 2: because I don't see any fall things. Horses not fall things.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Oh wow. Sorry.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Nikki Delouch was in a movie during the Christmas season
- 22:27Speaker 1: called A Cranberry Christmas and she played a woman. She
- 22:32Speaker 1: and her husband were kind of estranged and trying to
- 22:34Speaker 1: figure out if they were going to officially end things.
- 22:38Speaker 1: And I find it interesting that this obviously she's divorced
- 22:41Speaker 1: in this movie, but similar similar storyline of my re
- 22:45Speaker 1: kindling her past marriage is love because we all know
- 22:49Speaker 1: that's what's gonna happen. Oh, by the way, Juan Pablo,
- 22:52Speaker 1: we got an I Love You at the end of
- 22:54Speaker 1: this movie, and I yelled at the TV screen. I
- 22:56Speaker 1: was like, we know she goes back to the farm.
- 22:59Speaker 1: We know the time, it's a month before the exam. No,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'm not on board with it. You don't need to
- 23:04Speaker 1: love her. You don't need to love her yet. All right, guys,
- 23:08Speaker 1: that wraps up our thoughts on raise a glass to
- 23:11Speaker 1: love will be it's taking the rains of love or
- 23:15Speaker 1: just taking the rains.
- 23:17Speaker 2: All these names. Oh, they're really getting mashed up in
- 23:20Speaker 2: our brains. I think next week is taking the rains
- 23:24Speaker 2: no of love.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Don't you feel like the rains of love.
- 23:34Speaker 2: On the wings of love?
