- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the three O take
- 0:17presented by Sea Kick. This episode 490.
- 0:21I'll be your host Kyle Korne. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:24Reyes. Nate.
- 0:28Hello, You know what I was just thinking about when we were when
- 0:35I was watching the countdown video.
- 0:36New problem to have. You're going to have to you're
- 0:38going to have to figure out the new video next year after the
- 0:42All Star game. You're going to have to redo.
- 0:44You're going to have to. You're going to have more
- 0:45footage that in. That's true.
- 0:47That's that's a good problem to have.
- 0:49That's a good problem to have good All Star weekend.
- 0:52Looking forward to it. Feels like it's far away, but
- 0:56something tells me it's just going to, you know, that old
- 0:59age, It just keeps creeping up, just shows up.
- 1:04Next thing you know, we're in July of next year.
- 1:08To be honest, I still got to, I still got to snag the tickets.
- 1:12I still only have the Airbnb lockdown.
- 1:15That's all right. We had half.
- 1:16That's half the battle. You got to grab the tickets for
- 1:20that, but we'll be there. We'll be in Atlanta for the All
- 1:23Star game and I'm I'm very much looking forward to that.
- 1:27That'll be good. I'm also looking forward to this
- 1:29episode. Nate.
- 1:30I've I was thinking about it today.
- 1:31I was like, you know, here we are post award season and we get
- 1:38to recap some. Some.
- 1:40Pretty cool stories and I'm looking.
- 1:42Forward to it. Pretty, pretty cool.
- 1:44Pretty, pretty cool. We also, which I don't remember
- 1:50if we mentioned this on the last episode or or at any point
- 1:54before, but or you had alluded to it.
- 1:58But that sort of A twist for this episode is we wanted to
- 2:01combine recapping the awards from this week with a little bit
- 2:07of look back slash reflection on the hot takes and predictions
- 2:11episode from back in March, from before this season started and
- 2:15do a little compare, contrast, see just how far off we were,
- 2:20how how on to some things we maybe were.
- 2:25With. Some guys with some things.
- 2:28Most of it is wrong though. But we're going to latch on to
- 2:31what's good. So no, but we're, we're going to
- 2:34dive into the good, the bad and the ugly.
- 2:36But so it'll be a little, little bit of a, an integration of that
- 2:40into our just regular award recap talk.
- 2:45But with that said, well, I'll leave it to you.
- 2:48Anything you want to you want to share, or anything you want to
- 2:51touch on before we dive into it? I, I think, I think this is the
- 2:58new, I think this is the new tradition.
- 3:01I, I think this is just how we go about our recap every
- 3:08offseason. This is how we recap it.
- 3:12Reflection recap. What are we doing for Ryan,
- 3:15'cause we have Ryan's predictions, so we're going to
- 3:17go over those a little bit. You got something for that?
- 3:19I mean, I've got, you know, like what I, what I included in the
- 3:23graphic. Yeah, yeah, I'll, I'll call him
- 3:25out when I can. I didn't, I didn't write down
- 3:28everything that he had, but what I included in the graphic, it,
- 3:32it's there and it's, it's ready to be referenced.
- 3:34So we can, we can include that as well.
- 3:36And if you're new to the program, you don't know who Ryan
- 3:38is. Ryan Ripken, friend of the
- 3:40program, made his appearances on here over the course or has made
- 3:45appearances on this pod. Many O appearances.
- 3:48Many appearances over the last what, couple few years now at
- 3:52this point but has been Mia. And admittedly, that's partially
- 3:57on me 'cause I haven't exactly reached out to get him on the
- 4:00show, but. Flipped from Oriole switch to
- 4:03Raven switch. The the Ravens switch is fully
- 4:06and they're they're kind of rolling this year.
- 4:08So I think he's fully invested in the NFL at the moment.
- 4:11It's understandable. It's understandable.
- 4:13The Prince of Baltimore, you know.
- 4:14Prince of Baltimore, we'll, we'll get him on here soon.
- 4:17I know the people love Ryan Ripken.
- 4:19Let's talk awards and we're going to, we're going to go.
- 4:24I, I think it only makes sense to go in the order that the
- 4:27awards were presented. So with that said, let's start
- 4:30with the rookie of the year. How do you want to do that?
- 4:32How do you want to do it? Do you want to do you want to
- 4:34start each category referencing our picks or do you want to
- 4:38follow up with that? Yeah, yeah, I like that.
- 4:42All right, so rookies of the year coming into the season, I
- 4:49had Evan Carter coming out of the AL and Yamamoto coming out
- 4:55of the NO I, I will admit, I, I got, I think I got sucked into
- 4:59the World Series performance a little bit too much and I that's
- 5:04OK. I, I think I tried to ride that
- 5:06horse a little too hard. I should have just acknowledged
- 5:08it. You know, that maybe he captured
- 5:10lightning in a bottle a little bit there and that's, that was,
- 5:13that was great for him. But I I maybe I still had the
- 5:17the Rose rose colored lenses on a little too long there when we
- 5:21did our predictions. Yeah, that's understandable.
- 5:24That's OK. A little, little recency bias
- 5:27with the world champs. That's that's all right.
- 5:30I had Wyatt Langford, so same team, same squad.
- 5:35I'd Wyatt Langford coming out of AL and then tough look, I mean
- 5:39Jung Ho Lee like he could have been if he stayed healthy.
- 5:44Maybe maybe that could have been a thing and and we'll.
- 5:48We'll find out real quick. That was a story with a lot of
- 5:51these guys is I I think we were on to something with some of
- 5:54these picks. But injuries just, you know,
- 5:56injuries or or otherwise whatever, it just, and I know
- 6:00that's a super easy cop out, but the reality of it is it's like I
- 6:04would venture to say that had injuries not played a a factor
- 6:09here, our picks would have been looking a little bit better.
- 6:13But as I mean, if you're keeping track at home, very clear to say
- 6:18that or clear to see that did not did not get either those
- 6:23picks right. Paul Skeens coming out of the NL
- 6:28that this ruffled some feathers. I mean of the awards that were
- 6:32that were handed out this week that this you could make the
- 6:35argument that this was one of the ones that ruffled feathers.
- 6:39And maybe I'm giving a little bit too much credence to the the
- 6:48rather loud minority that was San Diego Padres fans like you.
- 6:53You were hearing a whole lot of noise coming out of San Diego's
- 6:56camp, understandably so. I get it, Jackson.
- 6:59That was my vote. I'm not not trying to take
- 7:02anything away from what he did, but you would, you can
- 7:07understand why that's where you would be hearing most of the
- 7:09criticism from because you, you just have to take into account,
- 7:14you just have to look at what he was able to do this year, like
- 7:16was there from the jump. Right.
- 7:19I remember like it was yesterday when we, when we were talking on
- 7:22this podcast about their, their, I, I don't want to say going out
- 7:26on a limb, but like they're making a decision, a conscious
- 7:29decision to make this guy their everyday center fielder.
- 7:36Like you just, you just don't. You just don't see that.
- 7:40I love it. They committed to him the whole
- 7:42year and it says wonders for how productive he was playing center
- 7:48field everyday. I don't know how many games he
- 7:51played, but I think it was north of 140.
- 7:54I think he played a lot of let's.
- 7:55Get a game total for Jackson. Merrill and hitting at the top
- 7:59of a lineup that is like this is a go season.
- 8:03I think that's what speaks to this even more. 156 games for
- 8:07Jackson Merrill. Yeah, dude, that's my, that's.
- 8:10Good for you, kid. I'm sorry, that's my rookie of
- 8:13the year. That's not I didn't put that on.
- 8:15I did. I didn't put that in my
- 8:17prediction, but I I mentioned that last episode.
- 8:19I I love what Paul Skeens did. I love it.
- 8:24I just I going back to the like the Padres are going to go
- 8:29season like a win now season like a push chips in the middle
- 8:32of the table type season and it just happened.
- 8:35Commit to a rookie and for him to jump to the top of the line
- 8:39up and lead the way. Lead the charge.
- 8:42So much, so many, so many big moments.
- 8:47Clutch moments, sure. So like, I think he did
- 8:52everything well. I think this is a little bit of
- 8:54a robbery. I think this is a this is
- 8:56unfortunately just he kind of fell victim to being stuck
- 9:02behind a guy who was the number one overall pick and throws
- 9:04cheddar and has a lot of spotlight on him.
- 9:09It did well, did fantastic, did did really well for the time
- 9:14that he he pitched. But like, I don't know, I think
- 9:17Jackson Merrill outperformed him as good as Paul Skeens was the
- 9:23Jackson Merrill. Won it.
- 9:27I don't know if I I'm, I mean, I love Paul Skeens.
- 9:30I've made that very clear since he got brought up.
- 9:32Like I've I've loved falling just every step of the the
- 9:36process here for Paul Skeens. But the thing about Jackson
- 9:40Merrill that I absolutely love sort of a take away from this
- 9:43year. Like you said, big moments,
- 9:45clutch moments. This was not a rookie that was
- 9:50at the end of the dugout for these moments.
- 9:52He's not dapping up. The guy that showed up that
- 9:56performed in the moment. He was that guy.
- 9:59He was at the top step for these moments.
- 10:04He was the one producing in these moments.
- 10:06And that that's just I I don't. Think both sides of the ball
- 10:09too. That's exactly and and I think
- 10:12it's something that I don't think people consider enough
- 10:15when talking about this is the fact that he is a rookie.
- 10:19He literally like, you just don't come up and and do that
- 10:25the way he did it at this age, Like people just assume that
- 10:28once you're a big leaguer, it's like, oh, you're the best of the
- 10:31best there. There's some truth to that,
- 10:33sure, but it takes time. Some of these guys need to be
- 10:36seasoned. And he came up and was just
- 10:40like, I, I I might be all right without that, at least for now.
- 10:44I'm good. I'm here and I'm here to stay.
- 10:46That that was that was cool to watch.
- 10:47But yeah, the Paul schemes thing.
- 10:52Can we talk about the the awkwardness of the moment he
- 10:58found out? Did you watch that video?
- 11:01Why is this man a robot, by the way?
- 11:03It's why does this guy not have a personality?
- 11:06It, it's not awkward. It wasn't awkward to me because
- 11:09it's just very clear that like this is the type of guy he is.
- 11:12Like it it'd be different if he was a, if he was like a rowdy,
- 11:15rambunctious kind of dude on the field that this is he's just
- 11:21this all the time, all the time strikes out.
- 11:26I'm sure he could probably go out and strike out 20 or get
- 11:29rocked. You're going to see this, you're
- 11:32going to see this outside. So if if he gets presented the
- 11:34rookie of the year, year award, I, I see, I don't see how that
- 11:39falls outside of that spectrum. So you're going to get this, and
- 11:42that's what we got. I did see a lot of people that
- 11:44beard more than just the mustache.
- 11:47The full beard looks a lot better than just a mustache.
- 11:51Yeah, yeah, You know, looking big picture though, here at this
- 12:00race, you could say that and, and people were talking about
- 12:04it. You could say that Jackson
- 12:05Marrow fell victim to I, I, I'm not necessarily saying this, but
- 12:12I did see it that Jackson Merrill fell victim to what's
- 12:16turned into a sort of a popularity contest.
- 12:19Where I stand on that debate, if you will, is that I, I do think
- 12:25Major League Baseball is and I, I know that, you know, this is
- 12:29like BBWA, whatever the, the sort of separate conversations
- 12:33here. But big picture, like zooming
- 12:36out, Major League Baseball recognizes that they have a
- 12:41product on their hands when it comes to Paul Skeens.
- 12:44And you throw in the, you throw in the whole Livi Dunn thing.
- 12:46I know people get tired of hearing about that.
- 12:48But you just the, the reality of it is you look at what's going
- 12:52on in the NFL, Taylor Swift, Major League Baseball, and we
- 12:55joked about it when this first got when this first started
- 12:58developing. Major League Baseball is looking
- 13:01at the NFL going, Oh, like, is this, is this how we do it?
- 13:04Is this what we get to, is this sort of the, the games we get to
- 13:07play and the narrative we get to push and the stories we get to
- 13:10build? We like this.
- 13:12So any opportunity and any opportunity they get to, to sort
- 13:16of push that a little bit more, they're going to do it.
- 13:18So I'm not going to sit here and, and and be the judge and
- 13:21jury on whether Paul Skins deserved Rookie of the Year, but
- 13:24that I I do think that that's sort of in play here.
- 13:28Oh, big time in play. And I'll be honest, I had people
- 13:30that don't know baseball asking me about him during the season.
- 13:35So, you know, the fact that he's bringing eyes is, is a big deal.
- 13:39It's big for the sport. So no knock on him.
- 13:43I just, I think it's, I, I think Jackson mural is just a little
- 13:47overlooked here, a lot overlooked.
- 13:51The final vote breakdown, Paul Schemes received 23 of the 1st
- 13:54place votes, Jackson Mural received 7, and then those two
- 13:59just swapped numbers. Vice versa otherwise, Jackson
- 14:03Cheerio received 26th of the 3rd place votes and Shodi Minaga
- 14:08received four of the the 3rd place votes.
- 14:10Respect on the American League side Louise Heel this one I I
- 14:17guess you could say rock the boat a little bit there.
- 14:19I mean, there were some some folks out here in the in the
- 14:22Mid-Atlantic little upset that Colton Cowser wasn't crowned
- 14:27Rookie of the Year, but. It was a rough second-half it
- 14:31was and obviously 3/4 of the season he started off great.
- 14:36It got ugly. All right, we have to pause
- 14:40here. Bridge to Bucktober podcast.
- 14:43I see you I I see you in the comments.
- 14:46It's not even close guys. Schemes was way better.
- 14:48I, I, I respectfully disagree. I, I may agree that that Paul
- 14:54schemes was deserving to an extent, but I'm not going to sit
- 14:58here and say that like Jackson, Meryl scheming would be involved
- 15:01in this conversation like that. I think we have to stop there.
- 15:03I think I think that's where we have to, we have to set our
- 15:07weapons down, take a deep breath and recognize that like, you
- 15:11know, there's, there's other other guys here in the hunt
- 15:16other than other than our guy Paul Schemes.
- 15:19No, back to the American League. You you can certainly speak to
- 15:22the Louise Heal experience a little bit better, but I mean
- 15:30credit to him for put up the year that he did. 15 and 7
- 15:35three, 350 ERA LED American League rookies and wins, innings
- 15:40pitched and K's. Yeah, I mean, I I'm going to
- 15:45take my own horn here. I did a pre season Yankees
- 15:52outlook kind of thing of like who to be surprised about or
- 15:57like bold predictions kind of thing.
- 15:59And I said Louis Seal is going to be a big deal, specifically
- 16:05around the absence of Garrett Cole in the first half of the
- 16:08year. And for him to do what he did
- 16:13the the arm was electric, really good first half.
- 16:17I think it happened how we thought it would happen.
- 16:21It was, you know, coming off ATJ first year as a starter, you
- 16:26kind of just run out of bullets after a while.
- 16:30And so you get the phantom IL stints and somewhat limiting the
- 16:37innings. But overall, like very, very
- 16:41solid, like a very, if you watch him, if you hadn't gotten a
- 16:48chance to watch a start of his watch it next year, you'll see
- 16:51how live that arm is. It's it's special.
- 16:54He's got some nasty stuff. But no disrespect to Colton
- 16:57Couser. I just, I, I think he really
- 17:00fizzled out. I mean, one could have made
- 17:04arguments of Austin Wells. I, I think Austin Wells probably
- 17:08had a better year than Colton Couser.
- 17:11So that's just me. That's just me.
- 17:17Definitely a better conversation on the NL side of things.
- 17:22Definitely better competition on that side.
- 17:28It was a graphic I was looking for, doing a little compare and
- 17:32contrast between cows and Wells. Can't seem to find it.
- 17:37But yeah, I mean, Wells was right up there in the thick of
- 17:42things too. I would I would say not in terms
- 17:48of the the, the voting breakdown, but just, you know, I
- 17:52think it also helped the fact that the Yankees were where they
- 17:54were at when it when it was all said and done.
- 17:57But yeah, not not as much of A not.
- 18:02Too exciting here. Riveting race if you will, but
- 18:05certainly, certainly need to give him his props.
- 18:08He became the the 10th Yankees player to win the the award and
- 18:12was the first since Judge back in 17.
- 18:19Manager of the year. You want to talk Manager of the
- 18:20Year awards? Let's do it.
- 18:24OK, going back to our pre season picks I had, oh boy, I didn't
- 18:34put him in the graphic. Who did I have out of the
- 18:41American League? I know I had Quattraro.
- 18:47As. Did I?
- 18:48Yeah, I do recall that. Did we?
- 18:50We didn't match in both leagues, did we?
- 18:53No. Who'd you have?
- 18:56Oh, I had Craig counsel. Yeah, I had Craig counsel.
- 19:02Yikes. Well, I had I had Katwaro.
- 19:05I can't I can never say it. Quattro, Quattro better just
- 19:10sound better. Quattro and then David Bell.
- 19:14Tough look on on David Bell. Yeah, I at least went with a guy
- 19:17that seemed at the time like AI. Was cop out This is spicy.
- 19:21This was a spicy episode trying to bring a little spice.
- 19:26The Reds, man, what a disappointment.
- 19:28Truly, truly. I think Ryan had.
- 19:34I think he had David Bell as well because he was pretty high
- 19:37in the Reds. It's impossible.
- 19:38Yeah. Yeah, he was.
- 19:40Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:40Because I was the only one that was coming to the defense of the
- 19:43Pirates. And for some reason, the Reds
- 19:46were the team out of the Central that you guys were riding high
- 19:48on, which didn't at the time, didn't make any sense to me.
- 19:51In hindsight, it looks like I was right there.
- 19:57Let's see here, let's, let's start with the where we at here.
- 20:03Let's start with the American League.
- 20:09No, let's start with the National League.
- 20:10Pat Murphy received 27 of the 31st place ballots, the first
- 20:19Brewers manager to win the award.
- 20:22Crazy, crazy. What's crazy about this?
- 20:28Tell me what's crazy about this. Crazy that council was in that
- 20:34chair and one could argue one of, if not the best manager in
- 20:41baseball. And the fact that he didn't win
- 20:43an award there is pretty wild. So just interesting.
- 20:50That's all pretty cool, but pretty cool that his replacement
- 20:52said I got this and had a really good year.
- 20:56Bruce had a really good year. Projected to win 79 games, they
- 21:01went on to finish year 93 and 69.
- 21:04That's that's a big deal. It's a really big deal.
- 21:08That's good ball out there. Looking forward to it a little
- 21:10bit. I think as long as they don't
- 21:13have a weirdo offseason and it it it's trending that way, isn't
- 21:17it? It's trending.
- 21:18It's trending to have a a soft non non compile non compile off
- 21:27of a Goodyear last year. Yeah or no, you're saying
- 21:34compound off of last? Compound.
- 21:35Yeah, like let's build off of this and there won't.
- 21:38Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, They won't. I feel you.
- 21:39Well, I mean this last year or I should say this offseason for
- 21:45that reason wouldn't be any different than the other the the
- 21:48previous previous off seasons we've had because they've
- 21:50they've been in the playoffs they've made.
- 21:54I hear you, I hear you. But I think this feels, it feels
- 21:58different for me just cause of the youth movement.
- 22:02And I would, I would, I would be excited about the core.
- 22:07That's yeah, but but look at what's happening.
- 22:09You're losing Willie Adamus. You're losing most likely, Devin
- 22:12Williams. It's like it the the prospect of
- 22:18of building off of last year is exciting, but I think reality is
- 22:22is quickly setting in for the Brewers if it hasn't already.
- 22:28Like it? I don't like it.
- 22:29No, I mean, I agree with you. Like maybe try a different
- 22:32philosophy this offseason, but ultimately you're not the, the
- 22:37experience that you're coming off of is no, at least to me, no
- 22:41different than the offseason that you've had over the last
- 22:47what, 5-10 years even. Mediocrity.
- 22:52The Milwaukee mediocres. The Milwaukee mediocres, not Pat
- 22:58Murphy, though. Pat Murphy, good job.
- 23:01I think. Job well done the rest of the
- 23:03race. It's kind of interesting.
- 23:06Mike Schilt received a first place vote, Carlos Mendoza
- 23:09received a first place vote and Rob Thompson tallying 5 total
- 23:14points in the entire race to Pat Murphy's 144.
- 23:17Rob Thompson his his lone five points came from a first place
- 23:22vote. And that was the vote that I
- 23:25kind of laughed at. What right before we hopped on,
- 23:27I was like, that's kind of funny.
- 23:29But then I'm like, I, I, I get it from you.
- 23:31Look at what the Phillies were able to do this regular season
- 23:34and and just the the wave they seem to to ridden the entire
- 23:41season for the most part. It makes sense.
- 23:45But I don't know. I just was not left and I I know
- 23:48the the postseason doesn't play into it, but I just wasn't left
- 23:51with the greatest taste of my mouth regarding the Phillies and
- 23:54kind of out. We did talk about that and I
- 23:58don't know. Just like you can't talk that
- 24:02much because the Braves were like, so beat up.
- 24:08Like not just a little beat up, so beat up, you know, like, did
- 24:12you really conquer that division?
- 24:14It doesn't feel that way. I'm kind of out, kind of done.
- 24:22This this thought or opinion may change by by March then our for
- 24:27our next hot takes predictions episode.
- 24:30But as of this moment, as it stands right now, I'm giving the
- 24:34Phillies another year where I'm going to, I'm really going to
- 24:37ride that train. But after that.
- 24:39Why is no one here surprised? What are you even saying right
- 24:45now? What are you?
- 24:47Even saying no one's surprised. No one's surprised that you're
- 24:51not out. You're just.
- 24:52Giving. I'm going to give them one more
- 24:54year. I mean, let's not forget that.
- 24:56I want to mark this down. I want to mark this down.
- 24:59No, I, I quite literally preface this by saying this could change
- 25:04by March. I may be out by March.
- 25:06We'll see how this offseason goes.
- 25:08If they get, if they get real weird and they're like, we're
- 25:11good on boom, you know, and, and and ship off some other names
- 25:17don't make any significant signings, then then maybe we
- 25:21don't even see. Maybe we don't even get to that
- 25:23point where I give them another year.
- 25:24Maybe I'm out on them before opening day, Who knows?
- 25:26I'd like that I think. I don't know.
- 25:29I'm all done. You know who I'm not out on,
- 25:33though, is Stephen Vogt. I I think this was, this was the
- 25:38award. That I was.
- 25:40Award this I think this one was the one that got me going the
- 25:43most. I mean, what a what a story,
- 25:47what a pick. I mean, I hadn't even I hadn't
- 25:54even considered this reality. But I as I was reading into it
- 25:59more, they were talking about how the note I got here, Joe
- 26:03Girardi was the fastest person to go from player to manager of
- 26:08the year winner in 2006. He won the award with the
- 26:12Marlins after having played in the 2003 season with the
- 26:15Cardinals. Vogt finished his playing career
- 26:17on October 5th, 2022 with the A's.
- 26:20Just 397 days later, having no past managerial experience, Vogt
- 26:26was hired as Cleveland's manager and then goes on to win manager
- 26:31of the year. Yeah, fastest person.
- 26:34Ever. Let's go, let's go.
- 26:39I like it. I'm impressed.
- 26:42Sucker for a career long catcher going into a managerial role.
- 26:49Just the job well done. They went through no nonsense.
- 26:53Not sexy. Cleveland had a good year.
- 26:58He he's so transparent, dude. I love it.
- 27:01Like you know exactly what he's thinking.
- 27:04You know exactly what he's feeling.
- 27:05Not in like a not in like an unable to to keep his cards
- 27:11close to his vest kind of way, but more of like a he he's going
- 27:15to be straight up with you. He's going to if if he's feeling
- 27:20burdened by the way he's he's leading his team or not leading
- 27:24his team at that given point in time, he he's going to let you
- 27:27know and he's going to be, he's going to let you know like, hey,
- 27:30I got it. This is on me.
- 27:31Like I got to figure this out. And if the team's doing well, if
- 27:34it, if the if the staff around him it is doing well, if if the
- 27:39staff around him is supporting the players out there on the
- 27:41field and they're performing well, he's going to let you know
- 27:44that. Like that's where the spotlight
- 27:45should be. And that's just like you were
- 27:47saying, that's a lifetime catcher right there.
- 27:49That's just a baseball guy. And that's, that's about it.
- 27:53Like, I feel like there are a few managers in baseball right
- 27:56now. And again, this is this is his
- 27:58first go with this thing. There are a few managers that I
- 28:01feel like have that sort of transparency and that sort of
- 28:04humility that Stephen Vogt has. And it's been demonstrated
- 28:08throughout the entire season. It was demonstrated through this
- 28:11award process. And I'm, I'm just a huge Stephen
- 28:15Vogt guy now, like is. This what we is this what we
- 28:18hope for for David Ross. I think this is what we were
- 28:25like all rooting for on that side of it.
- 28:31Yeah, just that like that career catcher, that that backup role
- 28:37towards the end of his career. I mean, I can, I can literally
- 28:42still remember watching Stephen vote catching bullpens in
- 28:46Oakland. Like that's where I think about
- 28:50like that when you hear when you hear Stephenville, that's what
- 28:52you think about. It's just it's it's a good
- 28:56story. It's a good American baseball
- 29:01story and we're just you're in the heartland, you know, you're
- 29:04in Ohio, you're just doing what you can out in Cleveland, just
- 29:10out there in the land getting dubs.
- 29:13I'm here for it, filled on it. I love it, man.
- 29:20I love it. Yeah.
- 29:21Like I said, I think this is the one award that that I was most
- 29:24pumped about. And I mean you, you kind of say
- 29:29that this you could see this coming.
- 29:30I mean, I think, I think we all saw that this was coming before.
- 29:35I mean, a lot of these awards, I feel like we saw it coming
- 29:37ultimately, but. To be fair, we weren't far off
- 29:40with Mr. Quattro. I was just about to say finished
- 29:43in second place with 73 total votes to votes 142.
- 29:51Also fantastic here. Fantastic job.
- 29:55And then AJ Hinge coming in 3rd. So shout out to the American
- 29:58League Central man holding it down.
- 30:01All good stories. And I'd call me crazy, like not
- 30:05trying to go revisionist history here, but I feel like we were,
- 30:08we were sort of given props to the central at the start of the
- 30:10year with these, with these teams in particular, because I
- 30:16think we were I, I'd kind of gotten you, I think, and Ryan on
- 30:21board with the Royals a little bit.
- 30:23And I think we were sort of semi confident in the Guardians.
- 30:29And then we were talking at least at least coming into this
- 30:32year. And I think even a little bit
- 30:33last year, we were, we were talking about how the Tigers, I
- 30:37feel like we're knocking on the door and it it wasn't, it wasn't
- 30:41the the most traditional route to get there, but they, I think
- 30:46they ended up where they were hoping to, to end up this year.
- 30:49So shout out to the shout out to the Central.
- 30:53You want to talk Cy Young? Let's talk Cy Young.
- 31:00I only. Got 1 right?
- 31:04You did get one right. That's correct.
- 31:06Yeah, Our, our picks, our picks coming into this year, I had
- 31:13Kevin, Kevin Gosman coming out of the AL and Zach Wheeler.
- 31:18Oh, we're going to, we're going to touch on this Zach Wheeler
- 31:21thing. And you had Spencer Strider out
- 31:24of the NL and Tarek Scubble out of the AL.
- 31:29Credit to you. I still to this day, I, I don't
- 31:34know where the Tarek Scubble for Cy Young campaign came from in
- 31:39the preseason because it came from me.
- 31:41I started it. It was everywhere.
- 31:45I'm going stop. It was I, I it just didn't make
- 31:50sense. I'm like, I know he's he's seen
- 31:52success coming like he he's bringing a a a decent body work
- 31:58into the the 2024 campaign. But I'm looking around and he's
- 32:03like favorited in certain polls and and tallies.
- 32:07And then he's right up there with right in there in the mix
- 32:09with coal and everything. And I'm going I feel like coal
- 32:13is just a perennial write in. But all of a sudden Terek
- 32:16Schuble is taken over the headlines.
- 32:18So I it just, I don't know, like why the baseball world decided
- 32:22that this was the year that we were going to descend on Terek
- 32:25Schuble winning the Cy Young and it, it panned out that way, so.
- 32:28I could argue. I know Ball, you know.
- 32:31You know, you know ball when it comes to, I mean, outside of the
- 32:35American League, Cy Young, it's up for debate.
- 32:37But when it comes to the American League, Cy Young, you
- 32:39know, ball. I'm here.
- 32:41You can count on, you can count on Nate Nate's your guy.
- 32:44If you need to know the American League, Cy Young is he's he's
- 32:47got you. Did you, did you see the TikTok
- 32:50of well, video? I don't know if it's on
- 32:52Instagram. Like the video after he won, it
- 32:56was like a whole thing, dude. Yeah, it was like a whole thing.
- 32:58I think it was his birthday. His girlfriend bought him a new
- 33:01car. Which it's kind of wild.
- 33:05Wild. Can we talk about that for a
- 33:06SEC? With his credit card, I bet you
- 33:09know it's. Just I would imagine, yeah, I, I
- 33:11don't know how I'd feel about somebody buying me a car, you
- 33:13know, like that's a like my. Wife buying me shoes.
- 33:17Right. It's like not a pair, we're
- 33:19good. It's not, yeah.
- 33:20It's not a pair of jeans where it's like, yeah, I mean, I'm not
- 33:23like wild about it. So like worst case you just
- 33:24return it. But that's like a car, Like I'm
- 33:26it's a car. You're kind of kind of stuck
- 33:29with that. You're not going to return a
- 33:30car, but I'm sure they talked about it and she already knew.
- 33:34But still, just the IT. The thought of that made me a
- 33:38little like. And then you got the happy
- 33:41birthday singing, you know. Got the happy birthday I think.
- 33:44I think I saw him Outback. He was popping champagne.
- 33:47Losing, man, those are some. That's a squad.
- 33:49His boys just getting the champagne shower going for him.
- 33:52That's a good day. You know, win some hardware, get
- 33:58a new car. On your birthday.
- 34:00On your birthday, got the lady there, got the boys there.
- 34:04It's a good day. Unanimous 30 of the 31st place
- 34:08picks, coming in at 210 total points.
- 34:11A Triple Crown winner, as was his National League counterpart
- 34:16Chris Sale. But Terek Schuble, what a year.
- 34:22What's a? Year 1 could argue I was close.
- 34:27I had Strider, same team, you know, there was something
- 34:30cooking there with the Cy Young picks.
- 34:33I mean, ultimately the spot that that sale like stepped into, not
- 34:38that not a spot that people were expecting him to fill, given
- 34:42just, you know, the, the the back story from Boston and and
- 34:46you know, what are we going to get here?
- 34:47But once he made it clear that like, no, I'm good, I'm healthy.
- 34:51I'm I'm I'm here to win baseball games.
- 34:53And it's like, OK, this is what Spencer Strider was supposed to
- 34:56be this year. And that was a cool, that was a
- 34:59cool storyline narrative to follow in and of itself.
- 35:03But but but this school thing, like I said, I just don't know
- 35:13where this came from, but it was it was cool to witness And just
- 35:18another tip of the cap to the central man.
- 35:20I mean, you look at the you look at the, the, the vote tallies
- 35:25for the, for the Sion coming out of the Ale Terry school with the
- 35:28Tiger, Seth Lugo coming in second with the Royals, Emmanuel
- 35:31Class A coming in 3rd Cole Reagan's coming in fourth.
- 35:36I mean, I mean, Kate Smith's even on here, he got a, he got
- 35:40a, a fifth place. Vote.
- 35:42Sure, sure. I think the AL Central is like
- 35:50it's here to stay, too. I don't think it's going
- 35:52anywhere. I don't think this was a fluky
- 35:54year. Thank you.
- 35:55You can say say the same thing about school when 18 and 18 and
- 35:59four this year. AL best 239 ERA and then ERA
- 36:04plus of 170 also. Imagine if they had one more
- 36:07starter for the postseason. You know what that could have
- 36:11done for them. That would have been, ventures,
- 36:14say, a different outcome. Yeah, I agree.
- 36:16And also LED all of baseball with 228 strikeouts and 192
- 36:21innings. Heck of a year for school.
- 36:25Man, got to love it. Kudos to you.
- 36:28Kudos to you for the pick. A. 192.
- 36:35That's the new 220, I think, maybe 2215.
- 36:41Safe bet. Yeah, unfortunately it's all
- 36:44good though. Dude's a dog though.
- 36:45He's going to go out there and give innings.
- 36:50Speaking of a guy that was able to give you some innings, Chris
- 36:53Sale out of the National League, let me let me can I amend what I
- 37:03said about the Stephen Vote Award being the one that got me
- 37:05the most fired up? That's got you the most fired
- 37:07up. I'd say it's about a tie.
- 37:11And I feel like that's fair because you got you got a
- 37:14managerial position and an actual player.
- 37:18So equally I, I, I feel like these both got me fired up.
- 37:21And I know that might confuse a lot of people like, oh, aren't
- 37:23you just like, aren't you just bitter?
- 37:25Aren't you just pissed about the fact that you lost this guy?
- 37:28This was always going to be what happened.
- 37:31Sure. I'm not going to say, I'm not
- 37:33going to try to rewrite history and say like, oh, we knew he was
- 37:36going to win the the Cy Young, but anything, anything that he
- 37:42did was going to be better in Atlanta than what had that with
- 37:45with the way things shook out at the end of his tenure with
- 37:49Boston. So in that regard, I'm not
- 37:52surprised. Am I surprised at the the
- 37:54fashion which he dominated this year?
- 37:58I'd say a little bit. I didn't see this coming and.
- 38:01I think we saw like a solid middle of the rotation kind of
- 38:05guy, not. And that's if you stayed
- 38:08healthy. That was the big, the big, you
- 38:10know, caveat there. But just like I said, Triple
- 38:14Crown gave you the starts, gave you the innings.
- 38:19And when he was out there, he was back to his old self.
- 38:23And it's it was so cool to be reminded of the fact that like
- 38:29this isn't a guy that has a trophy case full of these.
- 38:32Like this was this was his first with the career, the body of
- 38:37work that he's given you over the course of his career.
- 38:40It's a good resume. Like ignoring injuries, you go
- 38:44back to his more dominant days like in Chicago and his early
- 38:48stretch there in Boston. The fact that he does he didn't
- 38:52have a Cy Young up to this point, just crazy.
- 38:54And then you we get the quote today, I don't know if you saw
- 38:57it, but he apparently was had considered retiring before he
- 39:01was traded to Atlanta, which. Insane.
- 39:05Good thing he didn't. I don't know, that's a good
- 39:07baseball story right there. It's a good baseball story.
- 39:11The 1 lone bright spot going on in Atlanta.
- 39:17So you know, even when you have a tough year, you still have
- 39:21something to brag about. Got a note here?
- 39:24According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Sale is the first
- 39:28pitcher ever to have five top five finishes in Sion voting
- 39:32prior to winning the award for the first time.
- 39:34He's also just a 6th pitcher to win the award for the first time
- 39:38after turning 35. Yeah, still got a lot left in
- 39:44the tank. I think this could play, you
- 39:48could see like a mid to late 30s Nathan Ievaldi type trajectory.
- 39:55What do you think of that? Well, Ievaldi's younger than
- 40:01Sale though. Is he?
- 40:03I thought he was like 37. No, he's 34.
- 40:09He's younger than Sale. All right, let's find a new
- 40:11comp. I get what you're saying though,
- 40:13like a a resurgence. I I I get, I I track with what
- 40:18you're what you're saying. Yeah, I mean, to be fair, like
- 40:21Chris Sale had a lot of hype downfall.
- 40:25Now we're coming back up. Nathan Ivaldi was like, no one
- 40:28knows who you were, struggled for a few years, took off.
- 40:33You know, I don't have any other comps that come in mind.
- 40:40The trajectory, we can't go like Verlander, Scherzer type
- 40:43conversations, You know, they've been dominate their whole
- 40:45career. Yeah.
- 40:46No, no, no. And again, I, I have no doubt
- 40:50that if he would have stayed healthy that that would have
- 40:53been the case for him as well. Like I don't I, I.
- 40:56Oh yeah, he he's got the stuff for it.
- 40:58Yeah, exactly. He's not the type of guy that's
- 41:01going to struggle to find stuff at a low in his career.
- 41:05Like this is just going to be a guy that goes out there, has the
- 41:07best stuff that night when he's on the mound and is going to be
- 41:10better than the guy that he's going up against every single
- 41:14night. But when you're not healthy,
- 41:15you're not available. They say hear all the time your
- 41:18best or the best ability is your availability.
- 41:20If you're not able to go out there, sorry, like I, we can't
- 41:27put you in these same conversations as guys like
- 41:29Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, because you're just not out
- 41:31there. Yeah, I think his success makes
- 41:38it a lot easier for the Braves to let Max Fried go now.
- 41:43Again, he hasn't signed anywhere yet, but like I think he's
- 41:47elsewhere. I don't see him going back to
- 41:50Atlanta. No, he's.
- 41:51He's out. So I think this makes things a
- 41:53lot easier and it was a buy low. I mean, there was this was a
- 41:56high a high risk or a low risk, high reward type thing.
- 42:02And it paid off big time for the Braves.
- 42:06Smart, smart general managing per huge.
- 42:17That's both. Cy Young's MVP Fresh off the
- 42:23announcements tonight, the. Least surprising.
- 42:28This was decided four months ago.
- 42:32This was decided in June or July I think.
- 42:35Which which brings up an interesting point and I, I sort
- 42:38of hinted at it earlier, but more like broader picture here.
- 42:44Is it just me or are there just not really any more surprises
- 42:50when it comes to these awards? I don't know if it's just
- 42:53because of the attention given to or or the accessibility or
- 42:57the media. Coverage.
- 42:58That's what it is. Or what it is, but it's like we
- 43:00get to award the the, the week of the award announcements and
- 43:04it's like we've dissected this from every angle and there's
- 43:08really only one or two ways to look at it.
- 43:12And both of those ways point to player X winning this thing.
- 43:15So it's like. Yeah, dude.
- 43:18I mean, look, like we have, we pay attention to numbers more
- 43:21than we ever have. And like you said, the
- 43:23accessibility of media, of coverage of social media, like
- 43:27we, we get to watch, you know, MLBTV like awards when we were,
- 43:33you know, 10-15 years younger, it was a little bit of a
- 43:37surprise. Now it's like we're able to
- 43:39watch more and, and experience more that.
- 43:44And that's kind of my beef with the timing of this.
- 43:50Let's go ahead and release this before the World Series.
- 43:54Let's take that lull that we have after the championship
- 43:57series in the World Series and let's inject this because that
- 44:02voting is already done. It's already done.
- 44:05This is a scheduled release. The voting is done before the
- 44:09the postseason even begins. So for anyone out there that's
- 44:13unfamiliar, like if you were like, oh, where's you know, the
- 44:16postseason bias here, that has nothing to do with it because
- 44:18the voting was already in. Release it sooner.
- 44:22For me personally, I'm, I'm like all around, I'm move, I'm moving
- 44:27past 2024. Like I'm already kind of, we're
- 44:30talking free agents. We're kind of, you know,
- 44:33daydreaming about new players on new teams, you know, new
- 44:36transactions for your favorite teams.
- 44:38Like I'm kind of done with 20. This was this was the last
- 44:41domino to fall. Right.
- 44:43I'm all done. So it's like I, I just, I don't
- 44:46see the point of hanging on this late to release this stuff, put
- 44:52it right before the World Series and maximize the hype of
- 44:55baseball at that time. Look at how this World Series
- 44:59would have gone if you have the like MVP winners coming into the
- 45:04World Series to face one another.
- 45:06But instead, you have your broadcasters kind of tiptoeing
- 45:09around what will probably be the MVP of the AL versus what will
- 45:13probably be the like, don't they?
- 45:16Knew. We all knew Ohtani knew Judge.
- 45:19Knew maximize it like give it a. Little bit of the the college
- 45:24football flair where you get the Heisman potentially in the
- 45:28national championship game like that.
- 45:30That's way better. Or sprinkle in a sigh, young or
- 45:33two, like come on. Could could very much release
- 45:38this before the World Series. I just, I don't see any benefit
- 45:43to doing it. Like forget, OK, say, say it has
- 45:49to be after the World Series. Fine.
- 45:52Why are we waiting the week before Thanksgiving to do this?
- 45:57All right, I've I've moved on, moved on.
- 46:00Like I just want to be, like you said, I want to be able to look
- 46:02ahead to 2025, like, OK, where's Freed going to go?
- 46:05What how long is how long is Soto's contract going to be?
- 46:08Stuff like that. But now it's like, OK, we just
- 46:11got to got to wait to close this last door on the on the 2024
- 46:15season before we can look ahead. I mean, it, it is what it is.
- 46:19I'm not I'm not going to get like genuinely upset about it,
- 46:21but it just it seems like an easy miss or an easy win, I
- 46:25should say, for Major League Baseball.
- 46:28Had they decided or or if they were to do this before the post
- 46:34season rolled around? I don't know it just.
- 46:37I hear you. That make any sense, but I I'm
- 46:39not going to get all that worked up about it, but Shohei Otani
- 46:42and Judge as we mentioned unanimous winners in their
- 46:47respective. Leads, I don't know how deep.
- 46:49I mean, how deep do we really need to get?
- 46:51Like, I think everyone listening to this knows the type of years
- 46:56they had. You know, like, this is two of
- 46:59the best years. And I get that that's probably
- 47:03something you can say about an MVP every year, but these were
- 47:07truly like some of the best offensive years we've ever
- 47:12witnessed. I think I saw our guy Justin
- 47:20Havens tweet out. I know you like his his Nuggets
- 47:23from time to time. I think I saw him tweet
- 47:25something out to the effect of by OPS.
- 47:28Plus, I want to say he said this was the best for Judge, that
- 47:33this was the best offensive season of all time.
- 47:36Yeah, I mean I. Think.
- 47:37I think that's what he said. The OPS joined crazy company,
- 47:45crazy company to have a career thousand OPS and then it's just
- 47:54like these numbers that he puts up throughout the year just kind
- 47:59of continues to build it. But this year was great.
- 48:02I mean is better than the 62 year in my mind just because of
- 48:08him hitting over 300 is a big deal.
- 48:10Like what did he finish at? It was like 322 or something
- 48:15like that, 318. You're talking judge.
- 48:18Yeah. What did he finish at 3:22?
- 48:2622 yeah, yeah, dude. And I mean like the the bombs
- 48:33are there. I've I'm still pro RB is I'm
- 48:37still in that camp. I'm not moving.
- 48:42Camp's getting a little smaller. It's such a weird, like it's
- 48:45such a weird thing to have. Like to be.
- 48:48To be anti RBI? Like what what?
- 48:51What benefit do you have from trying to diminish the value of
- 48:56RB is like, sure, you're if if you're the guy at at the plate,
- 49:01you're not the one that put them on, but if you're able to
- 49:03succeed with those guys on, like, how was that not valuable?
- 49:06I I don't that's just a weird lose a lot.
- 49:10It's a lot. And you know, there was a big
- 49:12question mark in the leadoff spot for for the first half of
- 49:16the year for the Yankees. And I would say even more.
- 49:19Glaber didn't really start taking off in that spot until
- 49:22like September. Now it does help hitting behind
- 49:26Soto, but it's not like he, you know, you have a a a complete
- 49:30burner in Soto that's scoring from first on double S like
- 49:34this. Just, you know, he's pretty
- 49:36slow. So it's just it's a job well
- 49:38done by judge. And again, like the same way
- 49:44recency bias works for positive things, it definitely works on
- 49:49negative things. And yes, the conversation about
- 49:53Judge is as the Yankees fan, like it just none of this
- 49:57matters. I I would take a subpar year in
- 50:02a World Series MVP over this. But I guess I can't be totally
- 50:11hater in this spot. I don't know.
- 50:16And fantastic year. Fantastic year.
- 50:19What was the OPS for Judge? It's 11 change, wasn't it?
- 50:2611:59. That's crazy and I'll go back.
- 50:31I don't remember what was the slug?
- 50:38What was what was the nuts? It was just a completely crazy
- 50:43stat to read out loud that his slug was higher than the league
- 50:47average OPS. Oh yeah, he he slugged seven O 1
- 50:53this year. The league average OPS 1159.
- 50:58I don't know if it stayed that way, but at one point in the.
- 51:01Oh yeah, yeah, I remember we talked about that like at one
- 51:04point in the season that was, that was absolutely true.
- 51:07I like I said, I don't know if it finished out that way, but
- 51:09just insane. It's just crazy.
- 51:11Like that's gross. Yeah, and he he really did kind
- 51:14of fizzle out towards the last few weeks of the year.
- 51:18It looked like 60 was definitely in play for a while and then it
- 51:21just kind of slowed down a little bit.
- 51:23But no. Fantastic year, amazing year.
- 51:26Finish year going back to that OPS plus thing.
- 51:30I may I'm, I may be wrong on that, on that quote or that
- 51:33tweet about it being the best all time in a single season, but
- 51:39he did finish year with 223 OPS plus.
- 51:43Which means that's 2 1/4 players.
- 51:46That's insane, yeah. That's that's ridiculous
- 51:51production. And I think a thing that we're
- 51:54that does not get brought up enough is that for all intents
- 51:59and purposes, this should be Aaron Judge's third career MVP.
- 52:02But yeah, and you may, I don't know if you mentioned that while
- 52:05I was looking up notes, but something that I think needs to
- 52:08be. It it really needs to be talked
- 52:11about more. He was robbed.
- 52:14I think he was 17 or 18. 17 Altuve, Yeah.
- 52:18'Cause you would have Rookie the year and MVP.
- 52:20That's right, right? Yeah, 52 home runs that year.
- 52:24Yeah, yeah, unless like he beat Altuve in like multiple.
- 52:30Offenses. Altuve had him beat in like 3 of
- 52:33the 20 that you put that you pull up on those side by side
- 52:36comparisons. It was just whatever.
- 52:39But no, that that's important though, not having that third
- 52:43because you look at and I'm not, I'm not going to say they're on
- 52:46the same level. You can that's for other people
- 52:48to dissect. I'm not going to sit here and
- 52:50talk about how close or how far apart Otani and Judge are.
- 52:55But you look at Otani, he now has three and let me see how
- 53:06many, how many other have 3 plus I I saw that nugget somewhere.
- 53:12I mean, the list is obviously pretty small, but I'm.
- 53:16Pretty bad with awards, I'm going to be honest with you.
- 53:18But that's just that that's sort of that going back to missing
- 53:22out on that MVP for judge back in 17.
- 53:24Like that's the kind of company that you're missing out on by
- 53:26not having that third one. And I'm not, I'm not saying he,
- 53:30he won't get another, but you know, as it stands right now, I.
- 53:34Mean he's 33. You know it's not going to get
- 53:39easier. No, he's still.
- 53:40He's still well within his window though.
- 53:43Yeah. Which you know.
- 53:45Sucks for get him out of center field.
- 53:48Sucks for the American League. Yeah, I mean, tip of the cat,
- 53:50man. That that's that's it's lost.
- 53:54Worthy, wild. It's wild when you move back and
- 53:58we can move on, but it's wild when you go back a few years
- 54:01because, you know, a lot of people were were critiquing how
- 54:06he couldn't stay on the field. And I, I can go word for word
- 54:11and say, I can remember saying that this was fluky stuff.
- 54:15The injuries were fluky. You know, it's just weird stuff
- 54:19of like cracking a rib when he laid out in the outfield kind of
- 54:22thing. Like it's just strange injuries
- 54:24that and then I feel like that's kind of been put to bed And even
- 54:29this year, like the Super slow start and a ridiculous amount of
- 54:34people saying send them down South.
- 54:38Look, the monkey, the the final looming monkey on the back is
- 54:43obviously the postseason performance, which is it's
- 54:46gotten like a long enough sample size to say it is been bad.
- 54:52You know, that's the that's just kind of the last thing and
- 54:57obviously a trophy. But anyway.
- 55:01He's a 2O5 hitter in the postseason, by the way.
- 55:03Yeah, it's a big drop off, big old drop off.
- 55:10Not good, but sort of putting a bow on the on the Otani thing
- 55:15now that we've wrapped up Judge going going back to some
- 55:23comments from from our from our guys over bridge to Buck Tuber
- 55:26podcast in the chat. I just referencing one from
- 55:29earlier in the show. He he when he was talking about
- 55:32how the skeins marrow race wasn't close because of the way
- 55:36the first place votes were distributed 23 to 7, obviously
- 55:40in favor of skeins. OK.
- 55:44And this isn't a knock on them. This is more addressing the
- 55:48people in the room who maybe feel that Francisco Lindor got
- 55:53robbed of this year's MVP given the fact that Otani was ADH. 30
- 56:00votes for Otani, obviously unanimous.
- 56:05Do I think Otani deserved the MVP?
- 56:07Absolutely. Do I think Francisco Lindor
- 56:10maybe deserved a few first place votes?
- 56:12No. I I would have to say yeah, like
- 56:19I'm not OK in a weird, sick, twisted world where where Shohei
- 56:26Ohtani could somehow be unanimous MVP but but also see
- 56:32Francisco Lindor get some first place votes in some weird
- 56:36alternate universe. I mean, even if it was just two,
- 56:42like I again, I don't think Francisco Lindor was the MVP
- 56:46this year just because of how insane Otani's year was, but to
- 56:51not even have a first place vote?
- 56:55I just I can't. And he didn't even get all of
- 56:57the he didn't get all of the second place votes, which I, I
- 57:02don't know, but seems a little little off putting to me.
- 57:08But all all that to say my my my point.
- 57:10With that 44 OPS. We're not.
- 57:14Look, we're not. We don't have to do a deep dive
- 57:16here. I'm just saying I just.
- 57:19I'm just saying the vote breakdown net isn't isn't always
- 57:22necessarily a reflection. Of the.
- 57:25Closest of the race. Sometimes it is, but a lot of
- 57:28times it's not. Like the fact that, like I said,
- 57:30Lynn Dordan get a single vote. How many did Bobby Witt get
- 57:35Bobby? Witts, I think he got had to
- 57:37have had all, all of the second place votes, yeah.
- 57:40Yeah, cool. That's what I thought.
- 57:43From the pod Bobby Witt. Yeah, dude, just an amazing
- 57:49year. I think we've mentioned this
- 57:52before, I know I have. When you look at Shohei Otana,
- 57:58you have to think just pure ball player and when you have one arm
- 58:07tied behind your back and what you're able to provide the team
- 58:12and you somehow just say, OK, I'm going to steal a 1,000,000
- 58:17bags then you know what I mean? Like, I'm just going to add that
- 58:20I've had it. I haven't used it, but I still
- 58:24can bring that tool out of my toolbox.
- 58:28You know, he's we've had we've had seasons where he's on the
- 58:30mound where he just kind of shuts it down.
- 58:32He doesn't run that much. And I don't know how much of the
- 58:33Angels were doing that or dictating that, but the fact
- 58:38that like he's had that as a weapon and just hasn't really
- 58:42unleashed it until now in a year where he couldn't be on the
- 58:45mound. It just speaks like the IT it
- 58:49truly is like the best player on in in Little League.
- 58:53Like it's like you're just so much better than everybody and
- 58:56you're going to impact the game somehow, some way.
- 58:59It's. Every single game.
- 59:01Every game it's truly unmatched in a way that I've I've never
- 59:10witnessed than any other player ever.
- 59:14Speaking of unmatched what other baseball podcasts out there
- 59:19brought to you before the season started their own pre season.
- 59:24Awards. That's true.
- 59:26Who'd you have? I don't remember.
- 59:27We. Did that.
- 59:29If you recall, we sort of made-up some awards to.
- 59:33Wait, you didn't give the MVP awards?
- 59:36Oh, your MVP picks? My MVP picks were Juan Soto, who
- 59:42finished third, correct? Yeah, me too.
- 59:44Finished third. Also me.
- 59:46And then I had Mookie Betts out of the NL, who, if you recall,
- 59:49go back to before he got hurt. He was well on his way.
- 59:53Was tracking to be the MVP, yeah, but then Otani obviously
- 59:56goes and does what he does, so it may have not even certainly
- 59:59didn't matter. Super Dodger Heavy heavy.
- 1:00:02I had Freddy Freeman crazy any who's.
- 1:00:09Shout out to Ryan by the way. One little last nod to friend of
- 1:00:13the pod Ryan. He had Gunner Henderson out of
- 1:00:15the AL and Mookie Betts in the NL 2 pretty safe picks.
- 1:00:19Credits to him though because I I think Gunner was expected to
- 1:00:22have a good year but there for a while he was tracking to have
- 1:00:25and I'd have to go back and look at how he finished up the year
- 1:00:28like counting stats wise but. I think he he correct me if I'm
- 1:00:33wrong but he took off quickly. He did, and then the.
- 1:00:37Judge's like slow start. It was like, oh, gunner's like
- 1:00:40doing this. Yeah, it was him and Bobby Witt.
- 1:00:42And if you recall, that's when we're having these conversations
- 1:00:45like who would like the the more like Broad, who would you build
- 1:00:48your franchise? Yeah, but then it it it kind of
- 1:00:51take he he cooled off a little bit.
- 1:00:53So it then at that point Bobby sort of took over that second
- 1:00:56place spot. But yeah, still great year for
- 1:01:00Gunner all things considered. And then Mookie Betts, outside
- 1:01:05of an injury, another great year.
- 1:01:07But no, going back to what I was saying though about these pre
- 1:01:09season awards, we sort of made-up some awards if you
- 1:01:12recall, but again, if you're new probably don't know what we're
- 1:01:14talking about. We had made-up some awards and
- 1:01:17sort of predicted who the winners would be for set awards.
- 1:01:22So we can run through these real quick just to again just wrap up
- 1:01:25the 2024 season so that we can fully set our sights on the 2025
- 1:01:31put it to bed. So I have here, you may have
- 1:01:37them in a different order, but I have in order the we started
- 1:01:40with the over 35 award and I don't have the descriptions of
- 1:01:46of what these awards were, but I would, if I recall, if I pretty
- 1:01:51self-explanatory, the best who the player who we thought would
- 1:01:55have the best year over the age of 35.
- 1:01:58I I had it as the still got it award, Yes, Yep, still still got
- 1:02:06it. Still got it award I had Paul
- 1:02:09Goldschmidt. I did as well, same guy.
- 1:02:14Let's see how, let's just let's, let's take a look here, just
- 1:02:19briefly at Paul Paulie's 2024, he finished.
- 1:02:22Not the best. Finish hitting 24522 homers,
- 1:02:27only accumulated a WAR of 1.3. Well I say only it was 1.3 WAR,
- 1:02:32more WAR than I accumulated this year, so credit to him in that
- 1:02:36regard. 65 RB is just and that's over 154 games too.
- 1:02:43So just not the year we thought, but you compare them to other
- 1:02:49guys that are over 35, maybe it wasn't a half bad year.
- 1:02:54Like maybe because I mean, that's who he's up against at
- 1:02:56that point. So maybe, maybe if maybe he
- 1:03:01finished in the top three of the MVP voting for over 35
- 1:03:05candidates, that'd be a a little project for somebody if they
- 1:03:10want to take that on, see how Polly finished in that.
- 1:03:13Pool, pool, pool. The next ward we had was.
- 1:03:22The bringing up the. Rear Ward, which was who we
- 1:03:28thought was going to serve in the best role of a four or five
- 1:03:35starter. I had a lot of names I don't,
- 1:03:41and I don't even know who I ended up going with because I
- 1:03:44think in and I just copied and pasted by notes from the Google
- 1:03:48Doc from that episode. And I had just listed out a
- 1:03:52bunch just to sort of, you know, kick around on the recording.
- 1:03:56And I don't remember who I went, I think.
- 1:03:58You said Chris Sale. Is he on that list?
- 1:04:02He's second on that list for me. I.
- 1:04:03Think you said Chris Sale. Brandon Fott was was the first
- 1:04:08name I had down, but I feel like maybe I.
- 1:04:10Wouldn't feel like, I feel like you said Sale.
- 1:04:15I think you did, which is solid, you know.
- 1:04:18But what's crazy is like he's. A45 starter Nomo.
- 1:04:22Yeah, I was going to say he sort of kind of removed himself from
- 1:04:25contention, I guess, because he became an ace #1 Cy Young Triple
- 1:04:31Crown winner. So I don't even know if I can
- 1:04:33take credit for that pick, but. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:40I had Dane Dunning. It's not a great year, tough.
- 1:04:45Only made 15 starts, I think eventually got moved to the
- 1:04:48bullpen only through 95 innings, 531 ERA.
- 1:04:56So a little bit of a miss there. Little you know, that could have
- 1:05:00been the again that recency Ranger bias.
- 1:05:06Tough. Hey, we we both fell victim to
- 1:05:10that. Yeah, that's all right.
- 1:05:12Just in different ways. The Hey That's Me award, which I
- 1:05:17believe was we had to find guys. Award right here.
- 1:05:22We had to find a guy who I think was like ±5 lbs away from our
- 1:05:30weight and then like same height I think.
- 1:05:33Same height. I think we are set on it had to
- 1:05:35be the exact height, but there's a little bit of leeway there
- 1:05:37with the weight cause finding a guy with our exact dimensions
- 1:05:41believe it or not, was actually pretty tough.
- 1:05:43It was and. Not for Ryan, because Ryan's
- 1:05:47what, like 6? Yeah, he's the all.
- 1:05:49He's like a he's like a really good size.
- 1:05:51Yeah, it's annoying. For us, 6 foot flat.
- 1:05:56And I'd like to think I got a little fluffier since the start
- 1:05:59of the season. You know, it's sweater weather
- 1:06:01time, so no big deal. So.
- 1:06:05Wild. But my just by default, not by
- 1:06:09choice. My guy that I assigned this
- 1:06:14award to was Erasmo Ramirez, who is a pitcher for the Rays.
- 1:06:23Honestly, I'd forgotten he put up negative .2 WAR on the year.
- 1:06:28He went three and O, you know he went three and O.
- 1:06:32He had an ERA of 435, though only appeared in 13 games.
- 1:06:36But he did have a save so. Yeah.
- 1:06:40Of all the seasons in Major League Baseball that's that's
- 1:06:43ever been played by a player, this was one of them.
- 1:06:49It was it was one of the seasons, all.
- 1:06:53Times it was one of the years I feel like I I found a good name
- 1:06:58and he just kind of let me down. I had Jesus Lazardo.
- 1:07:04Yeah, you got it. That's a good name.
- 1:07:06That's a good. That's a strong, that's a clear
- 1:07:09cut favor to win that award amongst the OR I guess between
- 1:07:13the two of us, I should say not 3.
- 1:07:16Tough look, did not finish the year 12 games, started A5 even
- 1:07:21ERA. Tough. 3:00 and 6:00, but I
- 1:07:27don't think we're paying attention to wins as a Marlin
- 1:07:30any who. The tinfoil hat award refreshed
- 1:07:35me on this was it? This was the award I came up
- 1:07:38with, but it was the description, if you will, was
- 1:07:42like, who was most likely to get swept up in some sort of
- 1:07:46conspiracy or controversy, right?
- 1:07:48Yeah, that's what I have as well.
- 1:07:50Yeah, yeah. OK Did you write them out?
- 1:07:52Descriptions down? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:54OK, OK. Yeah.
- 1:07:54This is just kind of an outside the box thinking here.
- 1:07:58Yeah, just looking for some, some creative outside the box
- 1:08:01awards here. And for mine, just given the way
- 1:08:05that the previous season had went, I had, I had, well, the
- 1:08:10two names I'd put down were Anthony Rendon and Pete Alonso,
- 1:08:15because Pete Alonso is just that type of guy that's going to get
- 1:08:18swept up in something. And fortunately for him, for the
- 1:08:22most part, got swept up in in nothing but good stuff this
- 1:08:26year. So he's he's he.
- 1:08:29He missed the tinfoil hat. He said, Miss me with that
- 1:08:32Anthony Rendon suffer interpretation, I guess.
- 1:08:37Yeah. I, I think you're closer than I
- 1:08:41am. I kind of just had like, AI
- 1:08:44don't even know if this really counts, but I said Trevor Bauer
- 1:08:47officially sues MLB in an official lawsuit.
- 1:08:53I mean, who knows, you may have been like a day away from that.
- 1:08:57Maybe the? Still could happen.
- 1:08:59Maybe the rug got pulled out last minute.
- 1:09:01Or something, I don't know. The way I see it is that that
- 1:09:03guy is just getting fatter in the Mexican league.
- 1:09:08He's plump now. Have you have you seen some
- 1:09:11videos? Oh yeah, there's some man food
- 1:09:13down there. Eating some tacos dude.
- 1:09:17I'm he's getting in. Who am I?
- 1:09:19Who am I to say I'm? I'm.
- 1:09:21I'm no better man in that regard.
- 1:09:23I I. Wouldn't be fat, nor am I.
- 1:09:26He's just screaming at the other dugout.
- 1:09:29It's wild, anyway. The There's no way we saw that
- 1:09:34coming award. I think I took this to the bank.
- 1:09:39I don't have a name on here. Probably because you didn't see
- 1:09:44it coming. Yeah.
- 1:09:47What the heck of? Course, I I don't recall who you
- 1:09:54went with, but it doesn't matter because it wouldn't have been a
- 1:09:56better pick than mine. Luis Severino, you this right
- 1:10:02here is proof that I was high on Severino from the jump coming
- 1:10:07into the season. And and it turns out that he
- 1:10:11decided that he wanted to decline the qualifying offers.
- 1:10:14So to me, that's a pretty good indicator of how this year went
- 1:10:17for him. So do I know Ball when it comes
- 1:10:22to Elise Severino or do I know Ball?
- 1:10:25I feel like I had a dud because the description of this was pray
- 1:10:31their player who either has a surprisingly great or poor
- 1:10:36season. I feel like I had a dud.
- 1:10:43I just, I don't know. I'm going to have to, you know,
- 1:10:45if any listeners want to go back to that episode and Fast forward
- 1:10:50through all of Ryan's tequila. Drunken rants.
- 1:10:57I might just you know what? Tomorrow's Friday.
- 1:11:00I'm going. To have a little fun.
- 1:11:01I might go back and just listen to that episode just for kicks.
- 1:11:04It's a good episode, Ryan. Was on one that episode that was
- 1:11:08fun. Yeah, I think he was sitting
- 1:11:10around. I don't know.
- 1:11:11I think we had like we started like an hour late because of me,
- 1:11:14something like that. Or we yeah, he had a little buzz
- 1:11:17going for sure. He was feeling it.
- 1:11:20Yeah, I don't remember the name that I said.
- 1:11:23That's disappointing. We'll figure it out.
- 1:11:26We'll go back to it. No, but last thing here on the
- 1:11:29Severino thing I did I I had jotted down just in parentheses
- 1:11:33as a as a reference point last year.
- 1:11:36He's coming off a 665 ERA with a 65 ERA plus you go from that to
- 1:11:43decline in the QO looking for. Good turn around.
- 1:11:47Somewhat of a payout, yeah. I'd say it's a pretty good turn
- 1:11:52around. I've always liked it sort of
- 1:11:56wrapping up here, the storyline takes now this again, these are
- 1:12:00takes that we we shared in the preseason predictions episode
- 1:12:05and it's really open-ended. Again, if you if you listen to
- 1:12:08that episode, you're familiar with kind of the angle that that
- 1:12:12we take with these. But if you're new, basically
- 1:12:14this is just something that I think I initially came up with a
- 1:12:17couple years back where I was like, Nate, let's just come up
- 1:12:20with like just think outside the box.
- 1:12:23Like it can be as as far out or just as like, you know, lukewarm
- 1:12:29as you want you, you kind of pick.
- 1:12:31But it just it can be whatever storyline narratives, whatever
- 1:12:35just takes that you think will will happen when we reflect back
- 1:12:42on the year at the end of the season.
- 1:12:44So I think I had 4, you had three.
- 1:12:49So I'll, we'll, sandwich it. We'll just alternate here.
- 1:12:52I'll, we can sandwich yours in between the four here.
- 1:12:56I started off, I was real high on Mookie Betts this year,
- 1:12:59obviously picking him to win NLMVP.
- 1:13:02But I said Lukey. Mookie Betts wins a Gold Glove
- 1:13:06in his first full season at his respective infield position.
- 1:13:09And I had put in parentheses shortstop or second base, 'cause
- 1:13:13if you recall, yeah, quite the fiasco with, with still, even
- 1:13:18still. Yeah, even still.
- 1:13:21But not to be, not to be the case.
- 1:13:25But the fact that they want to bring them back, I think says
- 1:13:29speaks a little bit of volume to how they feel about having them
- 1:13:33in the infield. Eye wash, it's eye wash is the
- 1:13:37is the lower the the shortstop market numbers I think.
- 1:13:48Clear some space for Soto? Who knows?
- 1:13:50That too, Lord, I hope not. All I'm saying is if he was that
- 1:13:57bad they wouldn't be bringing him back.
- 1:13:59That's that's that's my only point.
- 1:14:01Yeah, it's good pick. Tough look here.
- 1:14:06Clayton Kershaw will get his three thousandth strikeout
- 1:14:09capped with ACG. Tough.
- 1:14:15Tough. The three thousandth strikeout
- 1:14:17would have been would have been fine, but the CG was, yeah.
- 1:14:21One step too spicy. I don't even think that's on the
- 1:14:25spiciness scale. Like if you go to B dubs and
- 1:14:28you're looking at like how spicy do I want my wings to be?
- 1:14:30It's not even it's it's not on the.
- 1:14:33Those Hot Ones episodes, Yeah, not even a flavor.
- 1:14:37Exactly, I said which I is there a way to look this up?
- 1:14:43I would. I would actually be curious.
- 1:14:47I doubt it was true, but I said all 5 NL Central teams would be
- 1:14:52within reach of the division. I didn't specify a game amount,
- 1:14:55I just said within reach. That's up for interpretation.
- 1:14:58That's a subjective thing. Within reach of the division on
- 1:15:02August 1st. Whoa.
- 1:15:05All right. I think you can look that up.
- 1:15:07I think you can look up MLB standings on August 1st.
- 1:15:14MLB standings. Oh, here we go.
- 1:15:18Baseball reference. Don't let me down.
- 1:15:20Oh, beautiful. Yeah.
- 1:15:22Beautiful baseball reference. I appreciate you.
- 1:15:25August 1st, 2024 The NL what did I say?
- 1:15:28The Central. Yep.
- 1:15:31OK, so we had the Brewers in first at 61 and 47.
- 1:15:35The Cardinals were 5 1/2 back, 56 and 53.
- 1:15:39Pirates were six games back. I OK, I remember this part of
- 1:15:43the season because this is when we were talking about how for
- 1:15:47the Pirates. Yeah, I I do recall.
- 1:15:49Yep, Yeah, yeah. They were even 50 or No, I'm
- 1:15:52sorry. They were 55 and 53 and then the
- 1:15:54Reds were 99 back and the Cubs were 9 1/2 back.
- 1:15:57To be fair, I don't think we, I don't think we saw the Cubs be 9
- 1:16:011/2 back at that point. But yeah, it was really up to
- 1:16:05the. Reds at that point, goodness, I
- 1:16:09feel like I really got struck with some injuries on a lot of
- 1:16:12my predictions. She just it's a part of it still
- 1:16:19stinks. You know, this was I like this
- 1:16:24one. I was proud of this one.
- 1:16:25Javi Baez breaks the longest consecutive Hitler streak held
- 1:16:29by Chris Davis. Would you Those aren't aware.
- 1:16:38I completely forgot I was proud of that one.
- 1:16:44What kind of numbers did he finish up the year with?
- 1:16:46I don't. I don't even.
- 1:16:47Oh, no. He was hurt.
- 1:16:48He played. Yeah, yeah, he was.
- 1:16:49He was hurt for who knows how long.
- 1:16:52I think he's, I think he's in baseball jail at the moment.
- 1:16:54They got better without him. They did they they He logged 80
- 1:16:58games this year, finished with six home runs.
- 1:17:02Had 50 hits on the year. Hit 184.
- 1:17:06See, it wasn't a ridiculous prediction, I hope.
- 1:17:09No, not at all. That was that was a great, great
- 1:17:12pick. OPS plus of 46 sure.
- 1:17:17OPS, excuse me, OPS of 516. What did we say?
- 1:17:21Judges was like 1150 something. 591159.
- 1:17:28Judge more than doubled Javi Bias's OPS gross.
- 1:17:35I mean, man, that's got to go down as one of the worst
- 1:17:39contracts of all time. Chris Davis also in this this
- 1:17:43sentence here, another one of those contracts of all time.
- 1:17:48How about this one? I said.
- 1:17:50I said, which not going to happen.
- 1:17:52But I said Dave Roberts is dismissed if the Dodgers do not
- 1:17:56win the World Series. Well, we'll never know.
- 1:17:59We'll never know. Solid and I too bad.
- 1:18:04Serious question though. I mean, I think I said that with
- 1:18:11the belief that they weren't even going to be in the World
- 1:18:14Series. Yeah, but had look at your World
- 1:18:17Series winner, you have that written down, don't you?
- 1:18:19And the prediction? Yeah, I had Phillies, Phillies,
- 1:18:24O's. No, but I'm, I'm more so
- 1:18:28speaking to the like the the perspective that I had on the
- 1:18:32Dodgers throughout the year where I was like, again, it's
- 1:18:34not going to be cakewalk, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:18:36Had they made it to the World Series and lost?
- 1:18:40Maybe. What was the What do we feel
- 1:18:41like the narrative was on Dave Roberts's postseason?
- 1:18:44Do we think that that would have been a possibility?
- 1:18:46Maybe I probably not, but I think this postseason he really
- 1:18:49put it to bed. That's fair.
- 1:18:51Yeah, this is a really well managed postseason.
- 1:18:54I agree. Like, and it's the most managing
- 1:18:57that we've watched him do, specifically in the NLCS and
- 1:19:01World Series with what he did with the bullpen.
- 1:19:04But not bullpen, right? He just pressed the right
- 1:19:07buttons every time. Now to be fair, it's a roster
- 1:19:11full of really solid options, but he still pressed the buttons
- 1:19:16correctly, so I feel like that's a narrative that's no longer
- 1:19:20present. So agree for him.
- 1:19:25What was your last? What was your last one?
- 1:19:27Pete Alonzo wins the NL home run title with a team other than the
- 1:19:32Mets. So I was expecting a trade.
- 1:19:37I was expecting a bad season on the Mets and then a trade.
- 1:19:42Which that was on the table. Neither of which happened, but.
- 1:19:47Yeah, the trade part, not the home run.
- 1:19:49Part yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that old Otani.
- 1:19:57It look, it's easy to laugh at these these takes now, but like.
- 1:20:02There's some thought that goes into these for sure.
- 1:20:04For sure. Yeah, like that's that NL
- 1:20:07Central being within reach thing.
- 1:20:09I I remember being especially proud of that one.
- 1:20:12I was like, I, yeah, I feel good about this.
- 1:20:14I feel like this might be the year the the Central.
- 1:20:17It was. The other league that it was the
- 1:20:19year. Of But prediction wise, I had
- 1:20:21Dodgers and six over the OS, so I guess I got a few things right
- 1:20:27on here. Well, I did not get this one
- 1:20:32right. My last storyline take here is
- 1:20:35that I said the league, the league.
- 1:20:37I don't. What was that you said?
- 1:20:39A lot of thought goes into these.
- 1:20:41I would agree, except on this one.
- 1:20:42I didn't really. I didn't.
- 1:20:44I don't know what I was thinking here.
- 1:20:45I wasn't thinking really. I said the league would walk
- 1:20:47back the pitch clock, that the league would go.
- 1:20:52The league would go. I think it's we've, we've made a
- 1:20:54mistake here. Pull the pull the Orioles of of
- 1:20:58the left field wall and just say, you know what, let's
- 1:21:00restructure this. Yeah.
- 1:21:03I think it's the opposite. I think it's the exact opposite.
- 1:21:05I think there's more people on board now than ever.
- 1:21:10Yeah. Oh well, I, I made that pick or
- 1:21:12I, I, I, I jotted that that take down through the lens of the
- 1:21:17league let and and not so much like public perception, but to
- 1:21:21your. Point, I think you had I, I
- 1:21:25think you had a bit of a argument, I think that lasted a
- 1:21:27a little while for you to try to talk us into that.
- 1:21:33And I think at this point, Ryan was pretty checked out.
- 1:21:37I think we all were because that that episode a deep.
- 1:21:40Three hour episode now. I'll listen to that tomorrow.
- 1:21:44I might dude, works real slow. Put it at at 1 1/2 speed.
- 1:21:49We're coming up on the holidays, man, by the way.
- 1:21:52Little trick and if you if you speed it up, if you're not a
- 1:21:55YouTube watcher, which you should be, but if you're not a
- 1:21:59YouTube watcher, you're just a listener, throw that on the
- 1:22:021.25. That really gets you through
- 1:22:05some podcasts. It does for me.
- 1:22:07I don't, I don't want to speed through my podcast.
- 1:22:09So I enjoy listening to my podcast, so I want to like.
- 1:22:13No, I like getting through it all.
- 1:22:14No, like, yeah, what's the rush? You know what, when there's
- 1:22:19people that are funny and there's less of a of a gap
- 1:22:23between jokes and they're just it's a tighter dialogue makes it
- 1:22:28funnier. One could argue.
- 1:22:33See that little pause that we just had?
- 1:22:35It's barely there, you know, don't even notice.
- 1:22:38It's fair. I'll hear you.
- 1:22:42Just a pro tip, but tip, The other pro tip is to, you know,
- 1:22:47subscribe to the YouTube channel exactly.
- 1:22:49Took the words right out of my mouth.
- 1:22:50Get the views going. You know, yeah, check us out on
- 1:22:55YouTube. Look, it's going to be it's
- 1:22:56going to be a fun offseason looking now that we've
- 1:22:59officially closed the book on the 2024 season, sites are fully
- 1:23:05set on the 2025 season. It's going to be fun.
- 1:23:07There's going to be some moves that go down.
- 1:23:09We're going to we're going to get weird.
- 1:23:11But there are going to be, as with any postseason, they're
- 1:23:14going to be some lulls. So come come enjoy the
- 1:23:17experience on YouTube and I think.
- 1:23:19We might be due for some change UPS soon to fill some gaps.
- 1:23:24We are due for a change up. Yeah, pizzas, pizzas.
- 1:23:28First up, we got to talk pizza. Yeah, we got some gaps to fill
- 1:23:32around these holidays. We'll get it done.

- 1:23:40Speaking of being done, yeah, that's all we got.
- 1:23:42Awesome. You guys are great.
- 1:23:45If you're here with us still, you stuck it out to the end.
