- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five whist Stop kicking
- 0:07Speaker 1: fun bow and they whist So, yeah, what didn't you expect?
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles. Special Wednesday edition
- 0:21Speaker 1: of twenty five Whistles presented by Draft Kings Sports Book,
- 0:24Speaker 1: an official sports betting partner of the NFL. Download the
- 0:27Speaker 1: Draft Kings app and use the code Bobby sports to
- 0:30Speaker 1: get in on the action. Just kick off Kevin and
- 0:33Speaker 1: myself today. Ian Rapport will be on a little later.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We literally just finished the interview with him, and it
- 0:38Speaker 1: was awesome. I thought the contract stuff about Lamar Jackson,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you know, just how Lamar is the dude is interesting,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you know. And then the Belichick in uh with Belichick
- 0:50Speaker 1: and and and uh Saban and he covered both of them,
- 0:53Speaker 1: but not at the same time. Like, Oh, that's definit
- 0:54Speaker 1: really cool. So I hope you guys hang out for
- 0:56Speaker 1: that on the show Friday, Trent Dilfer in studio, which
- 0:59Speaker 1: is super cool. And then next week calling Calherd, We'll
- 1:02Speaker 1: be on. And so I was telling these guys, I
- 1:04Speaker 1: was like, what's happening here? Like, what's one guest after
- 1:06Speaker 1: the other one? It's all the hits. It's crazy. We
- 1:08Speaker 1: can't believe it either. So a guy that works in
- 1:12Speaker 1: I Heart Radio and he is head of I Heart
- 1:16Speaker 1: Radios the Sports the department now which is the national
- 1:21Speaker 1: radio stations and also the Fox Sports brand, and so
- 1:23Speaker 1: he hasn't always done that. He ran Los Angeles for
- 1:26Speaker 1: a while. I'm very close with him. He negotiated against
- 1:29Speaker 1: me in my last contracts. Not a bad way. We
- 1:31Speaker 1: just worked together, right, He's the guy represent the company.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I mean, we're very close, and he is the person
- 1:36Speaker 1: who orchestrated this deal with Draft Kings. His name's Kevin Legrett.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And so when I say close, like, I'm very close
- 1:41Speaker 1: to him. And so we're talking about this deal, we're
- 1:45Speaker 1: wrapping it up, and Draft Kings like we want to
- 1:47Speaker 1: do it. You know. At first it was they wanted
- 1:49Speaker 1: the show to be done five times a week, and
- 1:51Speaker 1: I was like, I don't have the capacity for that,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but I really think we can nail it once a week.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Well now we're doing it twice a week, and now
- 1:56Speaker 1: it's the third day, so you know, forgive us for
- 1:59Speaker 1: doing the extra episode. But my point is Kevin goes, hey,
- 2:02Speaker 1: um cow herd. I was like, what about him? I
- 2:05Speaker 1: love him? I think he's awesome, follow him, watched him
- 2:08Speaker 1: on ESPN and listen to him on ESPN, watch him
- 2:11Speaker 1: on Fox Sports Now, listen to him on Fox Sports
- 2:13Speaker 1: and podcast. And he's like, all right, I'll get him
- 2:15Speaker 1: for the show. I said, that's cool. I'm looking at
- 2:17Speaker 1: cow Herds Twitter the other night and Kim Kardashians in
- 2:20Speaker 1: the restaurant where Cowherd was, and there's a he's like
- 2:23Speaker 1: Kim Kardashians and he takes a picture but it's like
- 2:26Speaker 1: a corner of Kim Kardashian's head, but it's literally Kevin
- 2:29Speaker 1: Legrett right in front of cow Herd at the dinner table,
- 2:31Speaker 1: sign in the check. And so I tweet back and
- 2:33Speaker 1: I'm like, I guess Legret's picking up the bill and
- 2:35Speaker 1: he goes always so yeah. And so that's the guy,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Kevin who's is kind of the guy that has set
- 2:42Speaker 1: all this up and it's been my guy here in
- 2:44Speaker 1: the company for a long time. But calling cow Herd
- 2:46Speaker 1: on next week, so for on this week, it's crazy.
- 2:48Speaker 1: We shouldn't be talking to people this educator, I'll be
- 2:50Speaker 1: honest with you. Uh So here we are just Kevin
- 2:53Speaker 1: and myself and we're gonna start and just talk about
- 2:56Speaker 1: some NFL games coming up this weekend. A right, Kevin,
- 2:58Speaker 1: let's talking about the Colts and the Bronco was first.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Broncos are a three point favorite as of right now.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Do you think both these teams are below average? Yes? Yes,
- 3:08Speaker 1: And it's both were kind of high hopes coming into
- 3:10Speaker 1: the season and now it's like, well, maybe they're not
- 3:12Speaker 1: as good as we thought they were. And both were
- 3:14Speaker 1: high hopes because of the quarterback situation, right mostly, I
- 3:17Speaker 1: mean Matt Ryan going to Indy, I still had a
- 3:20Speaker 1: little spunk in him. You thought it's fumbling the ball
- 3:23Speaker 1: a lot. I did see him this morning say hey,
- 3:26Speaker 1: I think we're there. I think we're close. I think
- 3:27Speaker 1: we're close. I'd have been scared to say, yeah, we're
- 3:30Speaker 1: way far man. But you know, they did have a time.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I forget they tied a game that wasn't to me,
- 3:36Speaker 1: that feels like a loss looking back at it. And
- 3:38Speaker 1: then the Broncos, I don't know what's up. I mean,
- 3:41Speaker 1: they lose the running back for the rest of the
- 3:43Speaker 1: year now, and is Russell Wilson worth that money? I
- 3:48Speaker 1: don't know. And you gotta wonder is that hand or
- 3:50Speaker 1: that pinky whatever it was that bothered him last year
- 3:52Speaker 1: and you had that surgery on. Is that lingering still?
- 3:55Speaker 1: What is that what people are saying? Is it saying
- 3:57Speaker 1: it's It's just no, It's just something that you kind
- 3:59Speaker 1: of wonder because he just doesn't look the same at all.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Even when he came back last year, he came back
- 4:03Speaker 1: too soon, and then this year it's kind of carried over.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I guess I just wonder if he sucks too. I mean,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, they just paid him a
- 4:09Speaker 1: lot of money, so obviously people that are paid a
- 4:11Speaker 1: lot of money to evaluate that don't think he sucks.
- 4:13Speaker 1: They think he's worth it. Or it's just you can't
- 4:15Speaker 1: get a quarterback and so you might as well pay
- 4:17Speaker 1: whatever you can get what you can pay him. They've
- 4:19Speaker 1: been trying for so long. Now. Who wins Colts at Broncos.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Broncos. I'm gonna go with
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Colts. Let's we'll go straight up. Let's just you
- 4:28Speaker 1: you uv me, straight up? Five bucks in the winner,
- 4:31Speaker 1: Let's do it, do it all right, I'll take the Colts.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Lions and Patriots. Lions are scored a bunch points? What what? What? What?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Is your team, what are the past have to what
- 4:42Speaker 1: are they doing? It all depends on if mac Jones plays. Okay,
- 4:44Speaker 1: but even if he does in his ankle is if
- 4:46Speaker 1: he plays, it's because they think his ankle is just
- 4:48Speaker 1: good enough to get in the game. So if it's
- 4:52Speaker 1: I don't think Hoyer is gonna play because he's concussion.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So if it's Bailey is appy, it's gonna be tough.
- 4:56Speaker 1: They're gonna put up points. The Lions are the highest
- 4:58Speaker 1: scoring offense, but their defensive give it up a lot
- 5:00Speaker 1: of points. Hey I didn't. I thought it was pretty good.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I thought so too, I mean, especially coming in Green
- 5:05Speaker 1: Bay on the road, Like, come on, yeah, I thought's
- 5:07Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah. Um, let's say at the same time,
- 5:10Speaker 1: so we don't steal each other's game. Lions and Patriots
- 5:14Speaker 1: one to three. Lions, Giants and Packers. Packers big favorite
- 5:19Speaker 1: here and as far as the Giants, they're winning games,
- 5:23Speaker 1: but they really haven't played anybody like real good honestly,
- 5:27Speaker 1: So what's this is one of their first world tests? Uh?
- 5:31Speaker 1: What do you think the Packers are finding their passing game? As? Then?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Do you think they're finding? Is Aaron Rodgers finding receivers
- 5:38Speaker 1: he trusts. Yes, I think the more as the season
- 5:41Speaker 1: goes along, they'll continue to kind of find it. And
- 5:43Speaker 1: Aaron Jones has been good. Even last week Dobbs dropped
- 5:46Speaker 1: a touchdown, so they'll be fine with Dobbs and Lazard
- 5:49Speaker 1: playing again. I mean, Lazard seems like he's the guy
- 5:51Speaker 1: as much as he's being targeted. I don't think Lazard
- 5:55Speaker 1: is the guy guy. I don't think he has the
- 5:56Speaker 1: guy guy now in in Green Bay. But it's Aaron Rodgers,
- 5:59Speaker 1: it's Almos was like Peyton Manning when he would make
- 6:01Speaker 1: guys superstars, he'd always have a slot that would go
- 6:04Speaker 1: somewhere else and not be as good. For example, Eric
- 6:06Speaker 1: Decker right, Decker is a good, good receiver, but when
- 6:09Speaker 1: he's with mdever, Decker was all world I mean you
- 6:11Speaker 1: can kind of roll through. You could go to when
- 6:13Speaker 1: he was an Indie and he had Can you name
- 6:16Speaker 1: a slot receiver in Indie that he made a world
- 6:18Speaker 1: class slot receiver that you would then draft in fantasy
- 6:22Speaker 1: that Stokely placed slot. I think Stokely would would move
- 6:25Speaker 1: around a little bit. Um Giants and Packers. Who wins
- 6:29Speaker 1: the game one two, three Packers and also is Daniel
- 6:33Speaker 1: Jones gonna play good? Question? I mean, I don't I
- 6:35Speaker 1: don't know the answer to that. I saw he was hurt. Yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 1: I don't know. He's still questionable. Steelers and Bills. Bill
- 6:42Speaker 1: is a big favorite. Bill. We're both gonna pick the
- 6:44Speaker 1: Bills here, I think, But can you pick? It's interesting
- 6:47Speaker 1: what's gonna happen, you know, as far as who's gonna
- 6:51Speaker 1: throw the ball too? Will he throw a Pickens more? Yeah?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Pickens had a pretty good game last week. He did,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and he's had a couplet wrong ish games now. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: sometimes we look at rookies and we go, man, they're
- 7:03Speaker 1: not performing, they must suck. It's like bro season just
- 7:05Speaker 1: started exactly. Pickens is gonna be a really good receiver
- 7:08Speaker 1: for them. Infirm at the tight end. He's looking at
- 7:10Speaker 1: him a lot, because that's what you do when you
- 7:13Speaker 1: don't have a lot of time and you probably are
- 7:17Speaker 1: not fully caught up on the offense and your rookie
- 7:20Speaker 1: looked at the tight end in the running backs? Uh
- 7:23Speaker 1: so are we both going on Bills on this one? Okay?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Browns and Chargers. This is an interesting game. I think
- 7:28Speaker 1: on paper, you just go Chargers because of the chargers
- 7:30Speaker 1: and they have Justin Herbert. But it's like the Browns
- 7:33Speaker 1: are running the ball like crazy, it's hard to stop.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And the chargers are also the chargers. That's true too.
- 7:39Speaker 1: You forget about the charges are the chargers. They're also
- 7:41Speaker 1: the charges exactly like, oh, the chargers, but they're the chargers,
- 7:44Speaker 1: all right, Chargers and Browns one to three chargers, Vikings
- 7:49Speaker 1: and Bears. Well, justin Phil throw the ball? I mean,
- 7:52Speaker 1: are they not letting him because he can't? Are they
- 7:56Speaker 1: scared to let him throw the ball? I've seen some
- 7:58Speaker 1: clips on Twitter, of course people pull on it where
- 8:00Speaker 1: it's like, hey, he has a guy open here, he's
- 8:02Speaker 1: just in a clean pocket. He's just tucking and running.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So I don't know if it's him not trusting it,
- 8:07Speaker 1: combination of everything. Maybe I did see Cooper Cup has
- 8:10Speaker 1: more receptions than he does completions on the season, which
- 8:14Speaker 1: is wild. I was listening to I think Bilford talk
- 8:17Speaker 1: about how Justin fields like one second and if it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: not there, he just runs like he's not letting things develop.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know what the fear is, fear of getting hit,
- 8:27Speaker 1: fear of I don't know, But are the Bears the
- 8:30Speaker 1: worst team in football. Who's worse than them? I was
- 8:33Speaker 1: gonna say, I think the Commanders might be there. They're
- 8:36Speaker 1: coming up, but the Bears are close. Maybe between those two,
- 8:41Speaker 1: at least the Commanders have a quarterback that I would
- 8:44Speaker 1: feel semi confident with. Not running a game and wins.
- 8:49Speaker 1: If you gotta pick two, if you gotta pick up
- 8:51Speaker 1: the two, I think I take wins. I think I
- 8:54Speaker 1: do over fields. Maybe not for if I'm building a franchise,
- 8:59Speaker 1: but for like this season, I probably take a wins.
- 9:02Speaker 1: We both Vikings and barrass We're both taking the Vikings,
- 9:05Speaker 1: Seahawks and Saints. You've seen the stat probably that Gino
- 9:09Speaker 1: Wilson's out playing Russell Wilson. You know, they match them up.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm looking at all the stats. It's almost like the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Kevin Slin and Jimbo Fisher at Texas A and M
- 9:18Speaker 1: where they go, Uh, they've won the same amount of games,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and Jimbo has got tough schedule coming up, and someone
- 9:26Speaker 1: had one like four or the next five or you
- 9:28Speaker 1: know whatever it is. It it ain't a good statu
- 9:32Speaker 1: to see, but Geno Smith is not playing Russell Wilson.
- 9:34Speaker 1: The Saints are struggling that. I mean, they lost it
- 9:36Speaker 1: in London, so, but they've had a couple extra days
- 9:39Speaker 1: off for that. London trips sucks. You've been to London, Yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 1: a couple of times, and I mean that lag is
- 9:43Speaker 1: it's no just three days even London, and that's not
- 9:46Speaker 1: a far lag. That's like you just fly across the
- 9:48Speaker 1: Atlantic and you're over there, you're chilling in London, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: that still is like three days. Uh. What do you got?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Seahawks and Saints one to three, SATs okay, good, Dolphins
- 9:57Speaker 1: and Jets two is out. But if gonna have a backup,
- 10:01Speaker 1: it might as well be a backup that's wants some
- 10:03Speaker 1: games and at times has been I'll say good. At
- 10:07Speaker 1: times has been good. Not all the time, and I
- 10:10Speaker 1: wouldn't say great, but at times, semi consistently Teddy's been good.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Would you agree? Yeah, no, I agree. The offense are
- 10:17Speaker 1: three point favorite over the Jets without too uh, and
- 10:20Speaker 1: I think that they a lot of that lent to
- 10:22Speaker 1: the fact that Teddy Bridge wants a good quarterback, especially
- 10:25Speaker 1: with good backup. Boy, that's tough. I'm anxious to see
- 10:28Speaker 1: Zack Wilson, though, coming off of last week, the second
- 10:31Speaker 1: half of last week, especially the fourth quarter, and see
- 10:33Speaker 1: if he can carry that into I mean a division opponent, opponents,
- 10:37Speaker 1: so he's gonna know him. Do you think Zach Wilson
- 10:39Speaker 1: is a real deal? No, not yet, I can't. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: did you a b y U? Yes, I think Zach
- 10:47Speaker 1: Wilson was the real deal. I loved him. I was
- 10:50Speaker 1: hoping the Patriots are going to draft him. Yeah. I
- 10:52Speaker 1: think he probably had a better a better look in
- 10:56Speaker 1: that organization. Agreed. What sucks if you're a really good
- 10:59Speaker 1: quarterback and you just get put in a bad organization.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And that's what happens most of the time. I mean,
- 11:03Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence went to a bad organization. Now some of
- 11:06Speaker 1: the organization has been replaced and you see him seeing
- 11:09Speaker 1: him actually perform better. Although all the fumbles last weekends
- 11:12Speaker 1: Philly was pretty rough. They had an interesting like strategy.
- 11:15Speaker 1: They were just trying to bat the ball out of
- 11:17Speaker 1: his hand the whole time and it worked. Yeah. I
- 11:19Speaker 1: wonder if that's anybody's tried that before. They have small hands.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I would imagine they had seen something somewhere, but that's
- 11:27Speaker 1: what they tried. They literally tried. They just started knocked
- 11:29Speaker 1: the ball out of his hand the whole game. That's
- 11:31Speaker 1: what he did, and it worked. I think he fumbled
- 11:32Speaker 1: four times, five times whatever it was. Dolphins and Jets.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Dolphins are three point favorite and they're on the road,
- 11:38Speaker 1: so but they don't have their quarterback. But Teddy b
- 11:42Speaker 1: Is is pretty good. Okay, one to three Dolphins, it's
- 11:47Speaker 1: still the Jets. It's almost like you gotta prove me wrong.
- 11:50Speaker 1: A bunch of times. Falcons and Bucks. Bucks last turn
- 11:55Speaker 1: a row. That's they did. One of them was to
- 11:57Speaker 1: Kansas City, so it's not like as an ugly loss,
- 12:01Speaker 1: although it wasn't pretty. Yeah, Kansas City, they smoked him
- 12:03Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah, it wasn't pretty. Bucks are an eight
- 12:07Speaker 1: eight and a half point favorite right now. Falcons just
- 12:09Speaker 1: show up and they grittly make games interesting. What are
- 12:15Speaker 1: your thoughts on this game? I think the Bucks, well,
- 12:18Speaker 1: there's a lot going on in Tampa right now, but
- 12:20Speaker 1: I just think Tom Brady and the Bucks come out
- 12:23Speaker 1: on fire. Their defense is piste off. They're playing at
- 12:25Speaker 1: home again against divisional opponent, so I think they'll handle
- 12:28Speaker 1: them pretty easily. I do too. I think losing to
- 12:30Speaker 1: in a row and getting to play a team like
- 12:32Speaker 1: Falcons is good. Yeah, although don't the Falcons usually put
- 12:34Speaker 1: it two bucks, like just traditionally. I know the Saints do. Man,
- 12:39Speaker 1: maybe I'm thinking about the Saints. Okay, one, two three bucks,
- 12:42Speaker 1: Titans and Commanders. The only reason I even care about
- 12:45Speaker 1: this game because I like the Titans. But NFL wise,
- 12:47Speaker 1: I mean, like, as far as the big picture of
- 12:50Speaker 1: the league, I guess and the conference, the Titans are
- 12:53Speaker 1: still playing anybody go in that conference, But I would
- 12:56Speaker 1: think the Titans would run with this, would you too? Yeah?
- 12:59Speaker 1: I saw the two and a half as of right now,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and I'm like, dang, that's not very much Titans. But
- 13:03Speaker 1: at the same time, the Titans they play up to
- 13:06Speaker 1: their opponent and down to their opponents, so you don't
- 13:08Speaker 1: know if you can really trust them. But I'm like you,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'll be I hope that they win. I think they
- 13:12Speaker 1: will win, but two and a half doesn't seem like
- 13:14Speaker 1: much and Trylon Brooks is out for a few weeks
- 13:16Speaker 1: with turf to and who knows how long he'll be out,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and that shouldn't be that big of a deal, except
- 13:20Speaker 1: he was starting to get a He was running a
- 13:22Speaker 1: lot of routes every week, more and more routes and
- 13:25Speaker 1: every week, more and more targets. I think he was
- 13:27Speaker 1: about to be the gay Robert Woods performing. All right,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Titans commanders want you three Titans, Texans and Jaguars. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: don't think anybody cares. I like it. I mean the
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jags are interesting. I hope they win because I would
- 13:41Speaker 1: like to see er look even more stupid. You know,
- 13:43Speaker 1: if the more they win them, the worst Urban Meyer
- 13:45Speaker 1: looks because nothing has really changed. Yeah. So it's like
- 13:50Speaker 1: and the better the Trevor Lawrence is. It's like, bro,
- 13:55Speaker 1: you had you had it and nothing happened. So I
- 13:58Speaker 1: like Urmier look stupid. Texas and Jaguars, Jacks, Panthers. I
- 14:04Speaker 1: pray to God the Panthers win. I bet them to
- 14:06Speaker 1: make the playoffs. I thought they could over in their division.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I thought they can maybe win eight nine games and
- 14:13Speaker 1: get into one of those teams. It's like, how did
- 14:15Speaker 1: they make the playoffs? You kind of thought they might
- 14:16Speaker 1: have been like the Falcons of this year right where
- 14:18Speaker 1: you're like, wait, they're in Yeah, uh so it's the
- 14:21Speaker 1: Niners and the Panthers. What do you think about this?
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm with you. I need I would love to see
- 14:26Speaker 1: Baker bounce back him have a big game, but going
- 14:29Speaker 1: against that in Niner's defense, the only thing they have
- 14:30Speaker 1: going for him is there at home. But man, that
- 14:33Speaker 1: Niners defense the other night against the Rams awesome. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: don't think the Rams are either they're not gonna fully
- 14:40Speaker 1: form or they just haven't jailed yet for some reason.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Maybe Stafford, I don't know. Is he still hurt a
- 14:48Speaker 1: little bit, like feeling uncomfortable with his arm, But I
- 14:50Speaker 1: don't know they're they're not there yet. Yeah, they don't
- 14:52Speaker 1: look I don't know. I don't know if they're missing
- 14:54Speaker 1: the piece still, like everyone's saying, no, they need O
- 14:56Speaker 1: b J. But even came over late though, yeah last year. Yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: but yeah, and they look better. Yeah, it's weird because
- 15:04Speaker 1: they carry over. I know that their old lines hurt
- 15:05Speaker 1: a little bit right now too, so that helps or
- 15:07Speaker 1: that hurts him. But they don't look right. Something doesn't
- 15:09Speaker 1: look right. Nothing's clicking. When Cam akers, what does he
- 15:11Speaker 1: get maybe one one carry this game the next game.
- 15:15Speaker 1: It's like you don't even know what's happening there in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the backfield. Um, okay, you know, I'm just gonna tell
- 15:20Speaker 1: you right, I'm going with Panthers. I'm not I'm committed
- 15:23Speaker 1: to the Panthers. There's some personal bias here. I'm assuming
- 15:27Speaker 1: there's seven point paper Cowboys and Rams. This will be fun.
- 15:32Speaker 1: This will be fun, and it's and I talked to
- 15:34Speaker 1: Ian Rapport, like, do you think Dak wants Cooper Rush
- 15:37Speaker 1: to lose? Because if Dad has to take over and
- 15:40Speaker 1: Cooper Rush has never lost a game, and Dak loses
- 15:43Speaker 1: the game, he's not gonna lose the job. But it's
- 15:46Speaker 1: just going to be unwanted, unneeded stress and annoyance, and
- 15:52Speaker 1: it would annoy me too. So all right, Cowboys and Rams.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I think the Cowboys can win this game. The ms
- 16:00Speaker 1: A four and a half point favorites, and you gotta
- 16:01Speaker 1: think they give the home team three points. Basically, that's
- 16:03Speaker 1: that's what you get from me in the home team.
- 16:05Speaker 1: So the two teams they have right there pretty close.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It's gonna be a good one. Cowboys and Rams one
- 16:12Speaker 1: two or three. Cowboys. I thought you're going with the Rams.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm invested. I love it. I'm probably biased. I'm invested here.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I just want to see this Cooper and I don't
- 16:22Speaker 1: I don't like the Cowboys at all, but I just
- 16:24Speaker 1: want to see this Cooper wrestling keep going. I wanted
- 16:26Speaker 1: to be the craziest storyline. I wanted to win. I
- 16:28Speaker 1: wanted to be the Eagles. Yes. Uh. And speaking of
- 16:31Speaker 1: the Eagles, Eagles and Cardinals, I think this is the
- 16:32Speaker 1: mondaynight game, Sunday night, Sunday night game, Sunday night game. Um,
- 16:36Speaker 1: because when I looked at it, I was like, dang,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I gotta watch that. That's Bengals Ravens of Sunday night.
- 16:40Speaker 1: What when? What are the Eagles and Cardinals plays that?
- 16:42Speaker 1: Just yeah, late afternoon. I think that one or three
- 16:46Speaker 1: thirty hard time Eagles Cardinals. Eagles undefeated. I don't think
- 16:49Speaker 1: they're the best team in the NFL. I think they're
- 16:51Speaker 1: one of the really good teams in the NFL. But
- 16:53Speaker 1: Eagles undefeated. Uh, the Cardinals, I don't know what's happening there.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Uh me, it's an easy pick of the Eagles. But
- 17:02Speaker 1: it is the NFL where I wouldn't be super surprised
- 17:05Speaker 1: if one if a Kyler Murray could take over a
- 17:07Speaker 1: game like this, especially late if they're giving the chance
- 17:09Speaker 1: to Eagles. The Cardinals want to three Eagles. I want
- 17:13Speaker 1: the Eagles to be undefeated. So Cooper Rushian come in
- 17:15Speaker 1: and take them down next day. It's all about Cooper Rush,
- 17:18Speaker 1: everything about the ultimate storyline right now. That's I love
- 17:21Speaker 1: a good storyline. So that's the NFL this week. The
- 17:26Speaker 1: NFL action is in full swing and Draft King sports
- 17:28Speaker 1: Book an official sports betting partner of the NFL. We're
- 17:30Speaker 1: talking touchdowns, big plays, and bigger wins. New customers can
- 17:33Speaker 1: bet just five dollars on any NFL team to get
- 17:35Speaker 1: two hundred dollars in free bets if they do so,
- 17:37Speaker 1: here we go. Everybody can boost their winnings with Draft
- 17:39Speaker 1: Kings stepped up same game parlays. So I'll give you
- 17:42Speaker 1: mine Friday as far as my part, but I'm telling
- 17:44Speaker 1: you I I really felt like there was some meat
- 17:46Speaker 1: on that Arkansas missipp State game. And Arkansas is an
- 17:49Speaker 1: eight point dog right now. I don't know if the
- 17:52Speaker 1: quarterback is gonna play. And if I don't, and I'm
- 17:55Speaker 1: not asking, I don't ask anybody there for inside information,
- 17:58Speaker 1: especially now that I have this show. If I didn't
- 18:02Speaker 1: have this show, I'd probably hitting everybody up, but I don't.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I don't feel like one it's fair. I don't know
- 18:09Speaker 1: about fairness. I just feel dirty doing it. And then
- 18:12Speaker 1: they hear me talking about why I'm making it even
- 18:15Speaker 1: if I don't want address it, I just don't want.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't want to do that, So I don't know.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I probably could. I just don't want to put myself
- 18:20Speaker 1: in a bad place where people over in that program
- 18:22Speaker 1: think less of me, like I'm hitting them up for
- 18:24Speaker 1: I don't know, and people are asking me what's gonna happen.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I don't know what's happened to JJ Jefferson. So I said,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I was thinking about meat on that bone and I
- 18:31Speaker 1: haven't taken it yet. And the reason I bring it
- 18:33Speaker 1: up in the middle of this, I don't know if
- 18:33Speaker 1: I can parley this week now, But parlay wise, I
- 18:37Speaker 1: believe I'm four and one on the year on Parlays,
- 18:40Speaker 1: which is bonkers in total games picked a nineteen and two,
- 18:44Speaker 1: but to be four and one of Parlay's feel pretty good.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I never bet NFL parlay's. I always bet college games,
- 18:49Speaker 1: and for the most part, it's either Big twelve or SEC.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Why is that the NFL? I can't predict that crap?
- 18:56Speaker 1: I still got it, and then they're gonna act like
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm good at it. I would I say I'm pretty
- 19:00Speaker 1: good at the college games. I've had a good record
- 19:02Speaker 1: this year in four and one is pretty good. And uh,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but it's like I watch a lot of SEC football,
- 19:11Speaker 1: SEC podcast, SEC dialed in, and I watched a pretty
- 19:15Speaker 1: good amount of Big Twelve. I don't catch a lot
- 19:17Speaker 1: of Pack twelve news honestly, a little bit of a CEC,
- 19:21Speaker 1: a little bit of National, but I really dial into
- 19:25Speaker 1: the SEC and the Big twelve stuff. So that's mostly
- 19:28Speaker 1: because that's my wheelhouse, my bread basket. That's what I
- 19:30Speaker 1: stay on. And it's like, if I'm gonna beout this,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you about it. This is what I'm
- 19:34Speaker 1: gonna say. I'll hop into the Big Ten games. I've
- 19:36Speaker 1: taken Michigan a couple of times this year. Yeah, those
- 19:38Speaker 1: teams are Those Big Ten games are tough because why
- 19:42Speaker 1: because it's that old school. I mean, other than Ohio
- 19:45Speaker 1: State they put up the sixty points, but other than that,
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's you know, your Wisconsin's, your Michigan's. It's that old
- 19:50Speaker 1: school running game and defense, so you just never know
- 19:54Speaker 1: it's cold. Yeah, it's just it's just a different brand
- 19:56Speaker 1: of ball. Download the Draft Kings Sports Book app now,

- 20:24Speaker 1: why or text hope and Y for six seven three
- 20:26Speaker 1: six nine. We'll go over a couple of college games.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Do you go to many college games? Have you been
- 20:30Speaker 1: in many college games? No? Not really out here. I've
- 20:33Speaker 1: been to one. I went to the Bull game last
- 20:35Speaker 1: year Tennessee. Per dude. That was great. Yeah, exactly. I've
- 20:39Speaker 1: been to a couple, but it's not big in California,
- 20:41Speaker 1: So I'm actually hoping to go to one couple this year. Like,
- 20:44Speaker 1: the atmosphere in the bowl game is like the Pro
- 20:47Speaker 1: Bowl of an NFL. It's like going NFL. Like, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I've been to the Pro Bowl. But I will say
- 20:52Speaker 1: I mean because it was the Music City Bowl in
- 20:54Speaker 1: Tennessee played in it, that that stadium, nieds On Stadium
- 20:57Speaker 1: last year was rocking. Hey, Scooba, ste you've ever been
- 20:59Speaker 1: to a college foot When Kevin said it's not rocking
- 21:01Speaker 1: for college football in California, you're hella wrong. I've been
- 21:04Speaker 1: the Stanford game in the Bay Area. It is fire.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Never been to one of those. I've been to a
- 21:08Speaker 1: game at USC Okay, firing. That's okay. That's like two
- 21:12Speaker 1: a SEC teams claiming we're one of the top teams
- 21:14Speaker 1: in the country. Can we only play each other? Well,
- 21:15Speaker 1: I mean the game as a whole of winning. I
- 21:17Speaker 1: didn't care, just the atmosphere, the college kids. I went
- 21:20Speaker 1: to UCF in Orlando. Fire games so much fun, tailgating.
- 21:24Speaker 1: It just it was so cool. I didn't care who won.
- 21:26Speaker 1: It was just the atmosphere, and I'm sure they were fun. Yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 1: my my dream is to go to an SEC. But
- 21:32Speaker 1: like a SEC game a bit where it's like religion.
- 21:35Speaker 1: It's just a different, different atmosphere. I'm sure it is,
- 21:38Speaker 1: But that's nothing to me. That well, you just said
- 21:41Speaker 1: it was, man, it was it was freaking gourmet I'm
- 21:44Speaker 1: talking about. It was Italian, like I've never had it,
- 21:47Speaker 1: And we'll go to Fizzoli's every week, and yes, it's good.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Fazzoli's as good. It's great. But if you've only ever
- 21:53Speaker 1: had Fazoli's or something comparable, you only know Fizzoli's. So hope,
- 21:57Speaker 1: maybe we'll get you guys out. Oh yeah, that's like
- 22:00Speaker 1: a Notre Dame. Is that the kind of game you're
- 22:02Speaker 1: talking about? Go to Knoxville, go to Tennessee, but I
- 22:06Speaker 1: mean Tennessee plays Bama next weekend. Go to Oh my god,
- 22:09Speaker 1: that's what I already looked at. The place will be nuts.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I mean, I go to Ole, Miss go to an
- 22:15Speaker 1: eggball oll, Mississippi State, you know, Arkansas, l s U.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It's uh, but then you have to go to those towns,
- 22:21Speaker 1: be there. That's part of it. If I want to
- 22:25Speaker 1: go there, So you do besides going to the game.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That okay, So you like convenience, Yeah, so your fire
- 22:32Speaker 1: is convenience fire. The game was there, and so you
- 22:34Speaker 1: went and you had a good time. Yeah that's cool.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yeah what else can I do? You know? But you're like,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I don't want to do that, So you don't really
- 22:41Speaker 1: care enough to like, let's say Trout drive four hours
- 22:44Speaker 1: to a game. No, not at all. No. I will
- 22:45Speaker 1: drive further for a theme park than I would for
- 22:47Speaker 1: a football game. What if I said, I got your
- 22:49Speaker 1: tickets to Tennessee, Alabama, okay, and you just have to
- 22:53Speaker 1: drive over to Knoxville three hours three and a half hours.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Would you just for that reason alone, for nothing else,
- 22:58Speaker 1: just to go your stuff? You and a buddy, would
- 23:00Speaker 1: you go? Uh? They like cool tickets, like like boxing
- 23:03Speaker 1: seats or like anything fun. By the way, you don't
- 23:07Speaker 1: get atmosphere in the bodast you do it a little bit.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Because what's cool now for me is that if I
- 23:13Speaker 1: go to Arkansas games, I'm um a booster to the
- 23:16Speaker 1: program and I do a lot of things that for
- 23:18Speaker 1: the program, and so they will put me in a
- 23:21Speaker 1: box or if I want, and honestly too, if I'm
- 23:24Speaker 1: just being completely transparent, if I go sit in the seats,
- 23:26Speaker 1: it's a lot of people asking for pictures all time,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and I just want to watch the game. How don't
- 23:30Speaker 1: I take a picture before the game? After the game,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'll just walk around and do that. But so, but
- 23:34Speaker 1: you you lose a little atmosphere when you're when you're
- 23:36Speaker 1: Hoi twitty and I don't mind being HOI Toiti some
- 23:39Speaker 1: of the time, but you lose a little atmosphere when
- 23:41Speaker 1: you're Hoi twitty and I Sometimes I just wish it
- 23:44Speaker 1: was like the Holy Days. Uh. College football this week
- 23:49Speaker 1: Michigan at Indiana. Michigan is a big favorite. Tennessee at
- 23:53Speaker 1: l s U. You know lu's ranking twenty five. We
- 23:56Speaker 1: made fun of them. They have won some games. Is
- 24:01Speaker 1: there a chance Tennessee is a looking ahead at Alabama
- 24:04Speaker 1: when they play L s U in Death Valley? That's
- 24:07Speaker 1: the question. I think they. I think there's a good
- 24:10Speaker 1: chance L s U makes it competitive. Agree that I've
- 24:13Speaker 1: been a Death Valley at night. It's loud. That's one
- 24:16Speaker 1: of the It's loud and it's drunk. If you play
- 24:18Speaker 1: in Death Valley, you want to play in the daytime.
- 24:19Speaker 1: You want to get stuck at one of the eleven
- 24:21Speaker 1: AM games and you're like, who dodge a bullet there?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Oh man, Florida loud. L s U loud. Now you're
- 24:30Speaker 1: just showing off. You've been to all these places. Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: it's pretty cool that prey TCU at Kansas Okay, let's
- 24:37Speaker 1: Kansas are made of They're they're five and oh now
- 24:41Speaker 1: they're playing a team that's ranked in a seven point favorite.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Tc is a seven point favorite at Kansas. They must
- 24:49Speaker 1: think tc is a lot better. Listen, TCU took Oklahoma
- 24:51Speaker 1: in the wood shed. Yeah, I mean it was never
- 24:54Speaker 1: a game. It's never a game that would be interesting though.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Kansas and TCU. Yeah that, and I hope tc I
- 24:59Speaker 1: hope Kansas wins that game. It's fun when Kansas is
- 25:02Speaker 1: winning games. Arkas missisipp State Misissippi State U eight point
- 25:05Speaker 1: favorite right now. We talked about that a little bit.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Aubren at Georgia that will be a disaster, blood bath. Goodbye,
- 25:11Speaker 1: It's that, It's that mean more. Homer Simpson walks into
- 25:13Speaker 1: the bar, mic puts the hat on and takes his
- 25:14Speaker 1: hat off and walks back out. Hello and goodbye. At Mos.
- 25:19Speaker 1: You know that you're talking about what the hat? Yeah?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Utah U c l A. I don't know what to
- 25:23Speaker 1: think about Utah because when they I guess I'm just
- 25:27Speaker 1: letting the Georgia game just sit and live in me.
- 25:32Speaker 1: The Florida game is sit and live in me. It's
- 25:34Speaker 1: like Oregon with the Georgia game. I just let that
- 25:36Speaker 1: game sit so is every time they're like Oregans killing it.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Look at I'm like, are they they had a big
- 25:44Speaker 1: boy's going and got run until Utah or Oregon plays
- 25:48Speaker 1: USC then we don't know. But then then then we
- 25:51Speaker 1: really don't know. Ohio State at Michigan State, Ohio it's
- 25:54Speaker 1: a big favorite, and then a m in Alabama. I
- 25:57Speaker 1: don't think it's gonna be a game. I think Evan's
- 26:00Speaker 1: going to just run the bricks off of Jimbo Fisher
- 26:03Speaker 1: for a couple of reasons. One because he can and
- 26:04Speaker 1: they're better, and then too because he wants to. Because
- 26:07Speaker 1: of the situation where Saban calls out Jimbo. Jimbo then
- 26:12Speaker 1: goes back into the press conference and it's like, oh,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you want us to share what we know that whole situation,
- 26:18Speaker 1: And I know they're all buddy buddies, Supposedly that aint
- 26:20Speaker 1: buddy Buddy's gonna put it on them. I feel like
- 26:22Speaker 1: it's he's gonna beat the breaks off of him. They
- 26:24Speaker 1: say good. Alabama was a little overranked just because they
- 26:28Speaker 1: had a great number one ever recruiting class, but again,
- 26:30Speaker 1: you have a much of freshman what are you gonna do.
- 26:32Speaker 1: It's not it's not Michigan's Fat five, it's not basketball.
- 26:34Speaker 1: We're one person at eighteen can really be a difference
- 26:37Speaker 1: maker football. There's a reason they won't let him go
- 26:39Speaker 1: to the NFL. Developed you already. So the weeks get better,
- 26:44Speaker 1: meaning better, more games, more better games every week. We're
- 26:48Speaker 1: finding out of that stage. Now we're in college football.
- 26:49Speaker 1: There's good games every single week. Um, I think that's it.
- 26:52Speaker 1: As we look at the games. We're gonna go to
- 26:54Speaker 1: Ian Rappport in a second. Anything you want to say, Kevin,
- 26:57Speaker 1: um No, I thought the interview is great. Look forward
- 26:59Speaker 1: to one for sure. He's awesome. Great. Uh great personality
- 27:03Speaker 1: that guy. And then tryfer coming up on Friday, Mike.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Anythink from you? Uh cow Herd next week is gonna
- 27:08Speaker 1: be awesome? Yea And Scooba Steve, who's sitting here and
- 27:10Speaker 1: running the camera today because that he's not here? What
- 27:13Speaker 1: are your thoughts on life? My thoughts on life are
- 27:16Speaker 1: my wife's actually be out of time for a month,
- 27:18Speaker 1: so I'm gonna be doing some boys stuff. So if
- 27:19Speaker 1: you have tickets to a football game, I will check
- 27:21Speaker 1: it out. Maybe. Well, the problem is I don't ever
- 27:23Speaker 1: give tickets to football games. People who do boy stuff. Hey, man,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I'm looking to some boy stuff. Do you mean what
- 27:30Speaker 1: that means man stuff? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Got And what
- 27:35Speaker 1: kind of boys stuff are you looking to do? Though?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Like your wife's gone, so what kids to? Kids are gone?
- 27:41Speaker 1: Just me for three weeks to a month when like,
- 27:43Speaker 1: what do you think in your mind you're gonna do?
- 27:45Speaker 1: I don't I know that. Kevin's always like, you gotta
- 27:47Speaker 1: go to tan Rufe, You're gonna go to the bars.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I may check out a bar and night just to
- 27:51Speaker 1: see what it's like, because I haven't done since I
- 27:52Speaker 1: moved to Nashville. But Kevin, you're a single dude, right, Yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: it's different difference, I would man, though I could definitely
- 27:58Speaker 1: hook him up with somebody like I'm good at like
- 28:00Speaker 1: starting the conversation and sliding it over to Kevin, do
- 28:02Speaker 1: you need help hooking up or like even finding girls
- 28:05Speaker 1: to go out with? I don't know what you're wrapping is. No,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I wouldn't say I need help. But it's always good
- 28:10Speaker 1: to have a friend. If they have friends, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you needn't occupy them or to talk them up a
- 28:15Speaker 1: little bit. Do you meet a bunch of girls at
- 28:16Speaker 1: the same time. No, do you know that's not my style.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I'm I'm past like the I'm thirty one now, I'm
- 28:21Speaker 1: past the going out every weekend, turning out of the
- 28:23Speaker 1: cycle right now? Maybe that's what. Do you regularly have
- 28:29Speaker 1: a girl you're dating? How often do you have a girl?
- 28:35Speaker 1: How often do you go on dates I've taken. I
- 28:37Speaker 1: actually just went on one last week for the first time,
- 28:40Speaker 1: and probably a couple of months ever since, Like you know,
- 28:42Speaker 1: with work and everything. I was like, I'm just gonna
- 28:44Speaker 1: take a few months off because I wasn't wasn't going
- 28:46Speaker 1: very well. So it went good. Yeah, it actually went
- 28:50Speaker 1: pretty good. What is your move? You you see? Do
- 28:52Speaker 1: you meet her in a bar? Already meet her? An app? No,
- 28:53Speaker 1: this is actually an app, which I've never been a
- 28:55Speaker 1: big advocate for. I don't They've never really worked for me.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I'm more of an in person kind of guy. Even
- 28:59Speaker 1: on the app, like five messages, I'm like, Okay, we
- 29:02Speaker 1: meeting up or not? What are we doing here? But
- 29:03Speaker 1: the app and numbers game more than anything else. In person,
- 29:05Speaker 1: you just there just may not be people, And on
- 29:08Speaker 1: an app you're gonna miss a lot more but at
- 29:09Speaker 1: least there's opportunity for you to have a conversation. Right,
- 29:15Speaker 1: So you what app hinge is that the one that
- 29:18Speaker 1: you deem is safe and has quality girls. Yeah, it's
- 29:22Speaker 1: not like your Tinder or even Bumble. I've had some
- 29:25Speaker 1: success on Bumble, but yeah, it's more of the you know,
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'm here for a reason. Not just do you post
- 29:30Speaker 1: Charlottes pictures in your profile? No, I don't. Do you
- 29:35Speaker 1: show your tattoos? Of course you highlight though of course
- 29:38Speaker 1: what do you have as like your profile description? Well
- 29:41Speaker 1: there's like they ask you those three questions. So I
- 29:44Speaker 1: haven't been on Yeah, so they'll ask you like three
- 29:46Speaker 1: questions like, um, I'm trying to think of the ones
- 29:49Speaker 1: that I have on there are what's your astrological sign?
- 29:53Speaker 1: I have no idea, you don't know. I don't know
- 29:56Speaker 1: anything about astrology, but I'm an aries March. I don't
- 30:00Speaker 1: know you're the ones that yeah, right, okay, Yeah, so
- 30:05Speaker 1: they ask you three questions like, hey, what do you
- 30:08Speaker 1: like to eat on Thursdays? Was your hero stuff like that?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Or like, uh, your simple pleasures? What is your stuff
- 30:15Speaker 1: like that? So that is a simple pleasure I just
- 30:19Speaker 1: said being anywhere on the water with a drink in
- 30:21Speaker 1: my hand. That's a simple pleasure to me. What's a
- 30:24Speaker 1: simple pleasure for you? Scuba? For me, peace and quiet, Mike,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna say that's solitude, not doing anything. Me competing.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It didn't matter what it is. I love to compete.
- 30:39Speaker 1: If it's playing pick up basketball or beating my wife
- 30:45Speaker 1: and cards. I like losing to our cards. She's pretty good.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I just I love to compete in anything. That's why
- 30:50Speaker 1: I like golf. It's not so much I like golf.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Golf rush's freaking crazy. I like to compete. It's like
- 30:54Speaker 1: where I feel that cup now, it's competition. Was another
- 30:57Speaker 1: question on there, Um, that's a will Sunday. How do
- 31:01Speaker 1: you spend a typical Sunday sports? They say, um, watching football.
- 31:07Speaker 1: For me, it's watching the kids, doing some work and
- 31:11Speaker 1: eating food. Sunday is my favorite day of the week.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I go for a long run on a Sunday, I
- 31:16Speaker 1: get as a bowl, and then I watch football. Sunday.
- 31:19Speaker 1: For me, she's traveling home and being tired. Travel day
- 31:23Speaker 1: not the sexiest, especially on the road. Travel day. And
- 31:27Speaker 1: then yeah, now watch it. Give me what The other
- 31:28Speaker 1: question Kevin let's make sure we're on the same page
- 31:31Speaker 1: about and I say, our kids being d one athletes?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Is it important to you to have a girl that's
- 31:38Speaker 1: an athlete? I would be great. What's you know? For me?
- 31:42Speaker 1: I'm very lucky. I don't know if my wife can
- 31:44Speaker 1: say the same. She is an extreme athlete, like in
- 31:47Speaker 1: every way hand eye coordination. She's strong, she runs fast,
- 31:51Speaker 1: and she thought she could outrun me, and she literally
- 31:53Speaker 1: thought she could beat me in her sprint as she can't.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And I'm not because I'm a man built, bigger and stronger,
- 32:01Speaker 1: but I'm if we're putting us on athletic skills like
- 32:04Speaker 1: Zerote a hundred percentile, I'm twenty points below her, but
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm stronger than her. I can run fast and that
- 32:09Speaker 1: was a pretty good athlete. But I worked really hard
- 32:12Speaker 1: and I tried to learn everything I could to give
- 32:15Speaker 1: me advantages. So for her, we pray to God that
- 32:19Speaker 1: when if we have kids, it gets her athletic ability
- 32:23Speaker 1: and my tenacity, because if it's the opposite and that
- 32:27Speaker 1: dame kid gets my athletic ability, and in man, we're
- 32:31Speaker 1: in trouble. But yeah, she's a math, she's a great athlete.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But you want to have kids at play sports. You
- 32:37Speaker 1: weren't a D one athlete, so now no, you're a
- 32:40Speaker 1: D two athlete, right, Yeah, but that's because I didn't
- 32:42Speaker 1: take care of my grades. Yeah, it's like I'm just saying, Um,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I did really well in college, a community college, and
- 32:52Speaker 1: uh yeah, I didn't have the grades. I messed up.
- 32:55Speaker 1: You know what. I'm not gonna press on that school.
- 32:57Speaker 1: But getting on the same page about what what would
- 33:00Speaker 1: you write this down here? For me, it'd be kids
- 33:02Speaker 1: because my ex wife wasn't for it and one of
- 33:04Speaker 1: the reasons why we left each other. So kids are important,
- 33:07Speaker 1: which shocker. I have children now with my wife and
- 33:10Speaker 1: everything's good. Mike, what would you put on that question?
- 33:12Speaker 1: You got a lot of superhero movies, your wife loves them.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's one of the first things we bonded over.
- 33:18Speaker 1: M hm Um. I would say we need to be
- 33:20Speaker 1: on the same page about you being okay that I'm
- 33:22Speaker 1: on my phone all the time. I'll tell you all,
- 33:26Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of it, probably wouldn't get
- 33:28Speaker 1: a lot of likes at all. Not a big fan
- 33:30Speaker 1: at all. And how did day go with the girl?
- 33:32Speaker 1: It went well, and you went out again. Yeah. Yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 1: we went out for the first time. Where do you
- 33:36Speaker 1: go three times? Now? I know it's getting pretty serious.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Girl order girl two three years younger than me. Did
- 33:42Speaker 1: you make out? Yeah? Where'd you take her? The first
- 33:45Speaker 1: night we went? I went to a spot and I
- 33:50Speaker 1: was hands me here it's closed. Of course it was closed.
- 33:52Speaker 1: So we walked to another. We took her somewhere that
- 33:54Speaker 1: was closed. Yeah, I know, I said it was open online.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I even made reservations. By the way, you made a reservation,
- 33:59Speaker 1: but it was closed. It was stupid. And then we
- 34:01Speaker 1: went out and just in midtown, grabbed a couple of drinks.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Last week we went to a Leaper's Fork. So okay,
- 34:06Speaker 1: now you're driving minutes to get there, so that was
- 34:08Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, three days are you having conversations about?
- 34:13Speaker 1: Are you anybody else? No, not yet. It's only been
- 34:16Speaker 1: a couple of weeks. We're hanging out again this weekend,
- 34:18Speaker 1: I think, so we'll see. Okay, good luck, Thanks well.
- 34:22Speaker 1: That love talk brought to you by Okay, that's it
- 34:27Speaker 1: Ian Rappaport and I think you'll like this is a
- 34:30Speaker 1: great talk. We're super appreciate to be and came on
- 34:31Speaker 1: the show and that's that on that Here you go, Ian,
- 34:35Speaker 1: how are you I'm great? How are you? Hey? Pretty good?
- 34:37Speaker 1: I'm I'm pumped to have yawn for a lot of
- 34:39Speaker 1: reasons because I know, you know, the real answers to
- 34:41Speaker 1: a lot of this stuff. Mostly. You know, before the
- 34:44Speaker 1: season started with Lamar and his contract situation, like how
- 34:47Speaker 1: close do you think they got to actually landing a
- 34:51Speaker 1: deal before they called it off and Lamar said he
- 34:53Speaker 1: was just gonna play the whole season. Um, you know,
- 34:56Speaker 1: I would say they got they made progress, but I
- 34:59Speaker 1: never about the sense like I never had my finger
- 35:01Speaker 1: on the button, you know, Like there's times when I'll
- 35:04Speaker 1: be reporting on a contract and I'll be like, all right,
- 35:06Speaker 1: it's ready to go, it's ready to go finalizing, and
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'll say like can I go, and you know, we'll
- 35:11Speaker 1: sort of talk it through like that way. Um, it
- 35:15Speaker 1: was never like that. I think they did work. They
- 35:18Speaker 1: tried to get there. It never got to a point
- 35:20Speaker 1: where Lamar were like almost took it and then didn't.
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's just they weren't really in the same world. So
- 35:27Speaker 1: he's playing when there's a contract situation like that, like,
- 35:30Speaker 1: what are the factors that we don't understand? That's actually
- 35:34Speaker 1: in a contract that would keep it from being agreed upon.
- 35:38Speaker 1: This to me was more about guaranteed money than anything else.
- 35:41Speaker 1: And really, what happens with a player for a contract,
- 35:45Speaker 1: and like you know, any person really, but for players,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like let's say I'm an agent and I'm about to
- 35:52Speaker 1: negotiate Lamar Jackson Steel And by the way, he doesn't
- 35:54Speaker 1: have an agent, so it's just him doing it. But
- 35:55Speaker 1: let's say he did have an agent, the agent would say,
- 35:58Speaker 1: that's most important to you? Do you want because you're
- 36:01Speaker 1: never gonna get everything you want? Nobody has all the leverage,
- 36:04Speaker 1: like rarely, rarely happens, so it's always a compromise. So
- 36:08Speaker 1: it's like, what do you want? Do you want the
- 36:10Speaker 1: most guaranteed money? Do you want the most yearly average?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Do you want the most full guarantees? Do you want
- 36:15Speaker 1: everything frontloaded? Do you want to beat this guy? And
- 36:18Speaker 1: if you don't beat this guy, then we're just not
- 36:20Speaker 1: doing a deal. I need to know that. Are you
- 36:22Speaker 1: okay with the number that looks to be one thing
- 36:25Speaker 1: but really is kind of backloaded, so it's not really
- 36:28Speaker 1: But you want to say you're the highest pay that
- 36:29Speaker 1: happens to what's most important, I think with Lamar Jackson,
- 36:33Speaker 1: most important is what is the full, real guarantee? And
- 36:36Speaker 1: I know he wanted to get as close to Deshaun
- 36:38Speaker 1: Watson as he could. Ravens made a real, legitimate offer.
- 36:42Speaker 1: It wasn't close to what he wanted and he said,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I'm good, I'll wait. So when he says I'm good,
- 36:48Speaker 1: all wait, does that really mean I'm good all wait?
- 36:50Speaker 1: Or are they still like tinkering like softly in the background. Well,
- 36:54Speaker 1: you know the Ravens always are tinkling, tinkling. They're not
- 36:58Speaker 1: tinkling tinkling. Um, well, yeah, anyway, I'm not I'm not
- 37:02Speaker 1: gonna go further with the joke there. Um, the Ravens
- 37:06Speaker 1: are always tinkering. So you know, they've done deals in
- 37:09Speaker 1: mid season for different players. They did one for Ronnie Stalin,
- 37:12Speaker 1: they did one for Marlin Humphrey. They've done deals. So
- 37:16Speaker 1: I'm sure the Ravens would like to do a deal
- 37:18Speaker 1: at some point this year. And I'm pretty sure Lamar
- 37:21Speaker 1: Jackson is like, I'm good. Well, I'm just gonna play
- 37:23Speaker 1: and I'm good. And you know he is a different dude.
- 37:26Speaker 1: He doesn't have an agent. He sounds like himself he
- 37:30Speaker 1: works like himself. He's got his own support system that
- 37:33Speaker 1: really no one else understands or has. He is just
- 37:36Speaker 1: a different dude. And because he's so talented, he's always
- 37:39Speaker 1: come out on the right end of this thing, and
- 37:43Speaker 1: that's where he's going to be this time, I think.
- 37:45Speaker 1: But he continues to get questioned and he continues to
- 37:48Speaker 1: really just not care, which in a way I respect.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I'll watch some of the press conferences, especially a couple
- 37:54Speaker 1: of weeks ago, and they would ask him a question
- 37:55Speaker 1: over and over and he would say, yeah, like I said,
- 37:57Speaker 1: I'm not gonna talk about that, and he doesn't. He
- 37:59Speaker 1: doesn't talk about just says I'm gonna I'm gonna move
- 38:01Speaker 1: on to something else. And that's actually kind of rare
- 38:04Speaker 1: because usually what happens is players will say, you know,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I'm not gonna talk about it, and then they'll ask
- 38:09Speaker 1: again and I'll be like, what I'm not going to
- 38:11Speaker 1: talk about? Is this whatever they wanted to not say? Um,
- 38:16Speaker 1: you know, he is really disciplined. He is never in
- 38:22Speaker 1: his camp, which is really his mom is never gonna
- 38:25Speaker 1: do anything to put him at risk. So like, for me,
- 38:27Speaker 1: not that my opinion matters, but for me, it's really
- 38:31Speaker 1: hard to find info on him because he doesn't tell
- 38:34Speaker 1: anyone and nobody cracks. So it's actually really like when
- 38:38Speaker 1: I found out that he had COVID two years ago,
- 38:40Speaker 1: two years ago. I guess, yeah, I think whenever that was,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I think two years ago. It was hard to get
- 38:45Speaker 1: because not a lot of cracks in his you know whatever.
- 38:48Speaker 1: But anyway, pretty interesting move into Miami and to a
- 38:53Speaker 1: you know whenever two it goes out the first game
- 38:56Speaker 1: when he when he gets up and he's stumbling around
- 38:57Speaker 1: and we all see it and that looks like a
- 39:00Speaker 1: head injury, but they say it's back injury. And we
- 39:03Speaker 1: know how the saga has played out after this point.
- 39:06Speaker 1: But what do you know? I just and I know
- 39:08Speaker 1: nothing compared to you. But is there any chance those
- 39:10Speaker 1: coaches really did not do the proper thing with two
- 39:14Speaker 1: of from the first incident onto that next game. Well
- 39:18Speaker 1: we're gonna find out because the NFL investigation is wrapping up.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Um and I don't know when this airs. When does
- 39:24Speaker 1: this air today? Oh? Well, perfect, and we're not gonna know. Um,
- 39:29Speaker 1: So I better do a lot of things that don't
- 39:31Speaker 1: make you. I better not make you edit this a lot.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I guess you know what, we won't edit it anyway.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I'm an idiot all the time, so but you're good,
- 39:37Speaker 1: You're good, So it'll just be what it is. I'm
- 39:41Speaker 1: not to explain this to my son's where I'm like,
- 39:43Speaker 1: I screw up on TV all the time and the
- 39:45Speaker 1: like what happens you go back? I'm like, oh no,
- 39:47Speaker 1: just live, just screw up and I just people see
- 39:50Speaker 1: you do dumb things and they just go, Wow, that
- 39:52Speaker 1: guy's an idiot and they just move on. Anyway. Um,
- 39:56Speaker 1: so we're gonna find out. The question isn't did he
- 40:00Speaker 1: have a concussion? I mean that was the question before
- 40:03Speaker 1: during the game, and he was you know, looked at
- 40:06Speaker 1: by like five different doctors, the independent trauma surgeon, UM,
- 40:11Speaker 1: the neurologists, the team doctors, second opinions. Nobody believed he
- 40:16Speaker 1: had a concussion. I know that is not what everybody
- 40:19Speaker 1: sort of wants, but that's just what it is. Nobody
- 40:22Speaker 1: believed he had a concussion, except for a lot of
- 40:24Speaker 1: us watching at home. But what the investigation is gonna
- 40:27Speaker 1: say is was the protocol followed, were the rules followed,
- 40:31Speaker 1: and if they were, But the outcome wasn't what everyone wanted.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Then that's in a word, weird way like almost Okay,
- 40:39Speaker 1: the protocol was violated, was not followed, that's more over problem.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That's when you see people get in trouble. That's when
- 40:44Speaker 1: you'll see you know, discipline and that sort of thing.
- 40:47Speaker 1: So we're gonna find out probably this week on what
- 40:49Speaker 1: this all means. I just being somebody that's also in
- 40:52Speaker 1: a highly competitive field. You are, I am, they are.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Obviously there's much more physical. I just don't know if
- 41:01Speaker 1: I would put my entire career on the line to
- 41:03Speaker 1: fake a test for my quarterback, because that's what all
- 41:06Speaker 1: those guys would be doing. If they didn't follow protocol
- 41:08Speaker 1: to get him back in a game, they would in
- 41:10Speaker 1: essence be putting their careers on the line for two
- 41:13Speaker 1: to get back a game early. I mean that that's
- 41:15Speaker 1: almost unthinkable, right, I mean, you know for me, like,
- 41:20Speaker 1: let's let's go the other way. Let's say that people
- 41:25Speaker 1: have sort of blamed or whatever, um people have sort
- 41:30Speaker 1: of blamed uh, the Dolphins or Mike McDaniel or Dolphins
- 41:34Speaker 1: doctors are putting him in there. So let's assume that
- 41:38Speaker 1: it's a vast conspiracy. So that means the team doctor
- 41:42Speaker 1: put his license at risk, the unaffiliated neuro trauma expert
- 41:47Speaker 1: put his license at risk. The head coach put his
- 41:50Speaker 1: reputation but not just two with all his players at risk,
- 41:53Speaker 1: to put him in a game of a second half
- 41:55Speaker 1: in week three. I don't, I just I don't see it.
- 41:58Speaker 1: It's just too much, too much conspiracy for not enough win,
- 42:03Speaker 1: Like if it was a Super Bowl and you say, like,
- 42:05Speaker 1: does people put their futures at risk? But I don't know.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Maybe I guess this no, so could there have been mistakes, absolutely,
- 42:12Speaker 1: we'll see. But was it an intentional conspiracy to make
- 42:16Speaker 1: sure you played the second half of a game in
- 42:17Speaker 1: week three? My guess is probably not. Yeah, that's how
- 42:20Speaker 1: I feel about it too. I mean, it's just a
- 42:22Speaker 1: lot of people being involved, a lot of lips that
- 42:25Speaker 1: have to be tied shut, and then a lot of
- 42:27Speaker 1: risk to like long term career for again a half
- 42:30Speaker 1: or a game. But again, like yourself, we'll just wait
- 42:34Speaker 1: and see. Is your phone ever on silent? I mean,
- 42:36Speaker 1: being a guy that gets all this information and you
- 42:38Speaker 1: know you're one of the best, if not the best,
- 42:40Speaker 1: at your job, is it ever on silent? Or you
- 42:42Speaker 1: just go I can't turn my phone on Uh, it's
- 42:44Speaker 1: a lot of times on silent Um, but it's always
- 42:46Speaker 1: on Vibrate, it's never off. And people always ask me like, oh, man,
- 42:51Speaker 1: like when can you turn your phone off? And I'm like,
- 42:54Speaker 1: it's actually more stressful to turn my phone off. It
- 42:58Speaker 1: really is. Because let's say I'm on vacation and I'm
- 43:01Speaker 1: in Hawaii, which I haven't been to him like ten years.
- 43:03Speaker 1: But let's just say I'm in Hawaii and I'm on
- 43:05Speaker 1: the beach and my phone buzzes, like I can tweet
- 43:09Speaker 1: something real fast and be done with it. But it's
- 43:12Speaker 1: way more stressful is turning my phone off and being
- 43:16Speaker 1: like I don't know what came, like it would be
- 43:19Speaker 1: anything like if I or if I'm on vacation and
- 43:22Speaker 1: I get some news, I can call one of my
- 43:23Speaker 1: colleagues and make hey, chase this down, but turn the
- 43:26Speaker 1: phone off, Like that's just stress, man, And I'm trying
- 43:29Speaker 1: this job is stressful enough. I'm trying everything I can
- 43:31Speaker 1: to sort of alleviate some of the stress. It feels
- 43:34Speaker 1: like every week, O b J is you know, showing
- 43:38Speaker 1: up and doing official visits like he was in college.
- 43:40Speaker 1: You know, he's in Tampa one week, you know, he was.
- 43:43Speaker 1: He was with the Giants the other day one, how
- 43:45Speaker 1: healthy is he, how quickly can he actually contribute? And
- 43:49Speaker 1: where is he gonna go? First of all, just for
- 43:52Speaker 1: clarity's sake, these are not official visits. These are official
- 43:55Speaker 1: in his mind, but they are not actually official. Like,
- 43:58Speaker 1: he did not meet with the Giants. He visited a
- 44:03Speaker 1: friend at the Giants building, which is Sterling Shepherd, but
- 44:06Speaker 1: he did not actually meet with the Giants. And when
- 44:08Speaker 1: he visit the Bucks, when he went to the game,
- 44:10Speaker 1: because they were at the Superdome and he was there.
- 44:12Speaker 1: He also didn't visit with the Bucks or the Saints.
- 44:14Speaker 1: He just was there. And you know, I think it's
- 44:17Speaker 1: it's fine. It's all fine, because you know, he really
- 44:21Speaker 1: would like to be in the news. And if you're
- 44:25Speaker 1: a free agent, the more people talk about you, the
- 44:27Speaker 1: more interest there is. It's all good. Um, he's not
- 44:30Speaker 1: healthy yet. I don't get the sense his health is
- 44:33Speaker 1: going to be determined emintally, So you're probably looking at
- 44:36Speaker 1: early November at best. So he's just gonna be in
- 44:38Speaker 1: the news until he ends up signing, you know, my guests,
- 44:41Speaker 1: as he ends up signing, Um, you know, ends up
- 44:45Speaker 1: signing with the Rams. But we'll see if a team
- 44:47Speaker 1: with playoff aspirations or playoff interest or whatever ends up
- 44:51Speaker 1: jumping in front of them. I read it. Jerry Jones
- 44:54Speaker 1: said Dac did not have grip to throw a ball yet, Therefore,
- 44:57Speaker 1: he will not be playing this week against the Eagles
- 45:00Speaker 1: if Cooper keeps winning games. No, no, I'm not even
- 45:04Speaker 1: saying there's hold on. I'm not saying is there gonna
- 45:07Speaker 1: be I'm just saying if he let's say he beats
- 45:09Speaker 1: the Eagles, it's gonna make but yes, oh yes, excuse me,
- 45:13Speaker 1: the Rams, then the Eagles. Right in order that that,
- 45:16Speaker 1: Let's say he wins that divisional game against the Eagles
- 45:18Speaker 1: and the Eagles are undefeated, he goes to and oh
- 45:20Speaker 1: two more, two more wins, It's gonna be really difficult
- 45:23Speaker 1: on Doc to come back, considering his replacement just went
- 45:27Speaker 1: what five and oh or six? And oh right? Won't
- 45:30Speaker 1: that is That's not a good mental health situation to
- 45:33Speaker 1: have to arrive in. Wouldn't you just wait till you
- 45:35Speaker 1: lost a game before you put Dick in? Just let
- 45:38Speaker 1: it ride. I mean, look, that's how Dad got the job. Um,
- 45:42Speaker 1: you know, everybody, I mean, if you remember, it's crazy,
- 45:43Speaker 1: but Dak was a fourth rounder. They're like, I don't
- 45:46Speaker 1: we don't know what we have here. And he wasn't
- 45:48Speaker 1: even a great practice player at that point, so when
- 45:51Speaker 1: they put him in a game, it's like, we have
- 45:54Speaker 1: no idea what he's gonna be. And then he was
- 45:56Speaker 1: really good and he won a bunch of games, and
- 45:58Speaker 1: Romo came back and Romo was like, I gotta retire
- 46:00Speaker 1: because this guy is too good. It's not gonna be
- 46:02Speaker 1: the same for that. Um, he's gonna get his job back.
- 46:05Speaker 1: My guests is the Eagles. But the fact that he
- 46:09Speaker 1: can't grow up football now is not great. And it
- 46:11Speaker 1: also really makes you kind of like roll your eyes
- 46:13Speaker 1: a little bit. And some of the you know, injury
- 46:16Speaker 1: prognostications of the last month, because I don't know how
- 46:19Speaker 1: much of it was, you know, it was like source
- 46:21Speaker 1: Dac is targeting the Rams game, like okay, but he
- 46:23Speaker 1: can't group a football, so that's not gonna happen, you know,
- 46:26Speaker 1: like even me saying Eagles, like I think that's the
- 46:29Speaker 1: best case, but it might not be ready might be
- 46:32Speaker 1: the next week, you know, do you think in a
- 46:34Speaker 1: twisted sort of way, Dad hopes that Rush doesn't go
- 46:36Speaker 1: six seven and oh, I hope not. I was thinking that.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I mean, no, I hope not um, because they want
- 46:43Speaker 1: to make the playoffs and they want to win the
- 46:45Speaker 1: super Bowl. And you know, the better that Cooper Rush does,
- 46:48Speaker 1: the better it is. UM. Now, I will say this,
- 46:52Speaker 1: what this has made us realize, I think is that
- 46:54Speaker 1: the Cowboys are good. Like that's going to be better
- 46:57Speaker 1: than Cooper Rush. I feel a lot of confidence saying
- 46:59Speaker 1: that this defense. I was at the Giants game, like
- 47:03Speaker 1: they are nasty and they are aggressive and like they
- 47:06Speaker 1: will keep teams in games. That's gonna be fine. But
- 47:09Speaker 1: the Cowboys I think are good. And that's been interesting
- 47:11Speaker 1: to find out what's different about Parsons on the field
- 47:13Speaker 1: because we want I mean, I watch him right and
- 47:15Speaker 1: he's dominating. Is fast, he's you know, he runs wide
- 47:18Speaker 1: receiver speed. But what do the other players say makes
- 47:21Speaker 1: him so special that allows him to just dominate? Well,
- 47:24Speaker 1: I think there's two things. One is he goes hard
- 47:27Speaker 1: all the time. So you know, in life, just like
- 47:31Speaker 1: in football, if you make the effort, you're generally fine.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Like if you try hard to do something. It's like
- 47:38Speaker 1: in our world, like if someone wants to be a reporter,
- 47:40Speaker 1: and they're bad at a bunch of things, but they
- 47:42Speaker 1: work really hard and want to be good. I'm always like,
- 47:44Speaker 1: that guy is probably gonna be good because that's kind
- 47:47Speaker 1: of what it takes. Just want to be good and
- 47:49Speaker 1: try hard. You're like the way there. The other thing is,
- 47:53Speaker 1: for some strange reason, Mike Michael Parsons is an off
- 47:56Speaker 1: the ball linebacker. That is his job, but he is
- 48:00Speaker 1: just as good at like three other jobs. And I
- 48:03Speaker 1: don't understand how this happened, but like, if he was
- 48:07Speaker 1: a full time pass rusher, he'd be one of the
- 48:08Speaker 1: best pass rushers in the NFL. He was a full
- 48:10Speaker 1: time off the ball linebacker, he'd be one of the
- 48:12Speaker 1: best in the NFL. If he was an inside linebacker,
- 48:15Speaker 1: as was an outside linebacker, he would also be one
- 48:17Speaker 1: of the best in the NFL. There's just not a
- 48:19Speaker 1: lot of guys like this that like are so good
- 48:22Speaker 1: at multiple things, where Like he was a tough evaluation
- 48:27Speaker 1: because people are like, what is He's like, He's all
- 48:31Speaker 1: the things, which is amazing. Justin Herbert, where are we
- 48:35Speaker 1: on his injury and when will he be back to
- 48:38Speaker 1: full mobility? Getting really close? You know, I don't think
- 48:42Speaker 1: he was a hundred percent last week, but he was better,
- 48:44Speaker 1: looked better, was better. Um, you know, he'll be off
- 48:48Speaker 1: the injury report, it'll be a full participant. You know,
- 48:51Speaker 1: generally two to three weeks for those rib cartilage fractures
- 48:55Speaker 1: and you're good. Um, I think he's getting real close.
- 48:59Speaker 1: And you know, the crazy thing and nobody, I mean,
- 49:01Speaker 1: he's awesome and tackles are not sexy. But they had
- 49:04Speaker 1: a rookie left tackle who's drafted in the six round,
- 49:07Speaker 1: was drafted to be a guard who came in and
- 49:08Speaker 1: played awesome. Um, to me, they're looking like the team
- 49:13Speaker 1: we all thought they were, and I think they're going
- 49:14Speaker 1: to kind of keep doing this. Maybe maybe I kind
- 49:19Speaker 1: of hope not because I like a lot of their people,
- 49:22Speaker 1: but maybe yeah. I mean, they should have a really
- 49:25Speaker 1: good defense. And Jack Leonard, who used to be Darius Leonard,
- 49:29Speaker 1: has been out there not very much, and he's got
- 49:31Speaker 1: a broken nose and he's probably not he's definitely not
- 49:34Speaker 1: gonna be out there Thursday night. Either. But they run
- 49:37Speaker 1: the ball well. Matt Ryan is fumbled the ball a lot.
- 49:41Speaker 1: The only way they don't suck, I think is if
- 49:44Speaker 1: Matt Ryan cleans up the fumbles, and all of those
- 49:46Speaker 1: possessions turned into just regular possessions, right because like you
- 49:50Speaker 1: fumble nine times, you take those away, you score touchdowns
- 49:54Speaker 1: and what three of those drives and maybe a field
- 49:56Speaker 1: going a couple like you're better. But if he's gonna
- 49:59Speaker 1: be loose with ball like that, they're not gonna be
- 50:01Speaker 1: good at all. I want to ask you a kind
- 50:02Speaker 1: of a personal question. You are from New York, but
- 50:05Speaker 1: I've been a Starkville many times. And as a matter
- 50:07Speaker 1: of fact, my team Marketsall was playing in Starkville this weekend,
- 50:09Speaker 1: so I'm maybe down there this weekend. But your scary
- 50:12Speaker 1: game for them scary, well, our quarterback may not have
- 50:15Speaker 1: even playing. It may be a whole brutal situation in itself,
- 50:18Speaker 1: but you go from being a guy in New York,
- 50:21Speaker 1: guy in East Coast to living in Starkville, Mississippi. Is
- 50:24Speaker 1: that a culture shock for you? Um? It was. Um,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I loved it. I really liked the South. And my
- 50:31Speaker 1: wife's from Mississippi. I met her there when I was
- 50:33Speaker 1: living in Starkville. She was a student Mississippi State UM
- 50:37Speaker 1: and I so when I took the job, I told
- 50:39Speaker 1: the editors I only took the job under the agreement
- 50:42Speaker 1: that I would live in the college town, which seems normal,
- 50:45Speaker 1: but at the time they never had that before. It
- 50:47Speaker 1: was a Jackson newspaper, Jackson Claren Ledger, so all the
- 50:50Speaker 1: writers lived in Jackson, drove up two hours, reported and
- 50:53Speaker 1: drove back. I'm like, no, I want to be immersed
- 50:55Speaker 1: in this culture, this team. I want to live there.
- 50:59Speaker 1: And I did. And it was a small town. They
- 51:01Speaker 1: got like three bars and restaurants, um. And like when
- 51:04Speaker 1: I'm waiting online for things, my turn is up. When
- 51:08Speaker 1: it's up, you know, like in New York, you're like,
- 51:11Speaker 1: come on, I got this like bagel coming, you know,
- 51:13Speaker 1: like I got things to do, like like four appointments,
- 51:15Speaker 1: Like let's go. In Mississippi, your turn is up. Whenever
- 51:19Speaker 1: they say it's up's almost like I mean, it's just
- 51:23Speaker 1: it's to tie. The clock is different, you know. And uh,
- 51:27Speaker 1: it's like people talk to you online and when they say, like,
- 51:32Speaker 1: you know, how you doing, they like actually want to
- 51:35Speaker 1: know what's going on. In New York what's going on
- 51:40Speaker 1: is like what do you want? In South it's like
- 51:43Speaker 1: what actually is happening? So I think you used to
- 51:45Speaker 1: just like talking to random people that I didn't know. Um.
- 51:48Speaker 1: I loved it though. The food is great, people are awesome. UM.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I lived in the South five years of Starkville in Tuscaloosa, UM.
- 51:56Speaker 1: And I would, you know, for the right situation, I
- 51:58Speaker 1: would definitely move back. I want to talk about Tess
- 52:00Speaker 1: close for a second, and we have just a couple
- 52:02Speaker 1: of minutes left. But you covered Saban and Belichick separately. Uh.
- 52:07Speaker 1: A lot has been made of their friendship or their
- 52:09Speaker 1: professional friendship and some of both. But what can you
- 52:12Speaker 1: what are the similarities between those two working with them
- 52:15Speaker 1: separately independently, and then how are they different? Uh? Similarities? What?
- 52:21Speaker 1: Both of them are crazy because they could stand on
- 52:23Speaker 1: the field, stand on the sideline, A game goes by
- 52:28Speaker 1: with seventy players and you could ask them, both of them.
- 52:30Speaker 1: They both can do it about a specific player on
- 52:33Speaker 1: a specific play, and just watching the game from the sidelines,
- 52:36Speaker 1: they can tell you what that player did. It is bonkers.
- 52:40Speaker 1: So you'll be like, uh, Nick, on that touchdown, you know,
- 52:43Speaker 1: the left tackle looked like he kinda like, oh yeah,
- 52:45Speaker 1: he got outside his guy, he pinned him in and
- 52:48Speaker 1: that sprung the run and you're like, god, how did
- 52:50Speaker 1: you see that? But they both can do it so
- 52:52Speaker 1: football wise, and it's it's wild because they could tell
- 52:56Speaker 1: you what everyone did on a certain player, what they're
- 52:58Speaker 1: supposed to do, what the players before and after, and
- 53:00Speaker 1: what happened. It's like beyond crazy to me. Um. Both
- 53:05Speaker 1: of them are really good at explaining football to idiots,
- 53:08Speaker 1: and by that I mean reporters. Um So I like
- 53:11Speaker 1: like Belichick specifically, but say we would do too. But
- 53:13Speaker 1: Belichick specifically, if you ask him a football thing, who'll
- 53:17Speaker 1: really tell you, like you will explain to you in
- 53:20Speaker 1: a way that is like palatable, which I always thought
- 53:22Speaker 1: was so cool. Um. They're different in that Bill is
- 53:26Speaker 1: the most disciplined person, really person that I've ever met.
- 53:30Speaker 1: He will go into a press conference and if he
- 53:32Speaker 1: doesn't want to say something, you're not getting it out
- 53:35Speaker 1: of him. Like he and I got along for a
- 53:37Speaker 1: lot of reasons. I think one of the reasons was
- 53:40Speaker 1: I knew I was never prying injury news from his lips.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Wasn't gonna happen. So if you don't want to say
- 53:45Speaker 1: it that I'd asked him. Once, I move on and
- 53:47Speaker 1: we talked about other stuff because you can't force anyone
- 53:49Speaker 1: to say anything. Would say when you kind of can. Um,
- 53:54Speaker 1: you ask him over and over and he'll lose discipline
- 53:56Speaker 1: and he'll just kind of say whatever. So I could
- 53:59Speaker 1: go into a Beltich of press commerce and know what
- 54:00Speaker 1: I'm getting, and I would go into a Saban press
- 54:03Speaker 1: conference and it could literally be anything. It could be.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I told you, I'm not going to talk about that.
- 54:08Speaker 1: What do you want gonna say? This guy got suspended
- 54:11Speaker 1: and I'm discipline him here here and here, and here's
- 54:13Speaker 1: who we're gonna replace him with. I'm not just gonna
- 54:15Speaker 1: do that. Who I know? Big just so different there. Um,
- 54:20Speaker 1: both are just fascinating to cover and get to know.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Which one do you think you'd be better friends with
- 54:26Speaker 1: in real life if it was just friendship. Um, probably
- 54:30Speaker 1: Belichick because he can turn it off a little better.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Like you know, I like I'll run into Bill, like,
- 54:37Speaker 1: say it the combine or something, and I want to
- 54:40Speaker 1: talk about football, but instead we'll talking about horse racing
- 54:43Speaker 1: for forty or five minutes. Like Saban doesn't really do
- 54:46Speaker 1: that when he's business. Bill kind of does. That's a
- 54:49Speaker 1: little different. You guys follow in at rap sheet on
- 54:53Speaker 1: Twitter and Instagram and all over NFL network. Hey, big
- 54:57Speaker 1: fan of your work, just to appreciate the hustle and

- 55:03Speaker 1: This is really cool and if nothing else, I get
- 55:05Speaker 1: to look at my own picture for about twenty two minutes,
- 55:07Speaker 1: so that was pretty cool. Yeah, it's for them to
- 55:08Speaker 1: not just one four with all a slightly different gesture.
