- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't know anything about like weapons, so I was like,
- 0:03Speaker 1: is this like an old timey gun or yea, I
- 0:05Speaker 1: like it right current time gun?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Don't.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 0:10Speaker 3: I have no idea musket. I don't know either. Welcome

- 1:12Speaker 3: if it's something Edges died in, and after that it's
- 1:14Speaker 3: simply five dollars a month for brand new episodes every Monday.
- 1:19Speaker 3: If you listened to last year's The Way Home series.
- 1:24Speaker 3: We did like a straight scene by scene recap, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: we decided based on our own thoughts and opinions and
- 1:32Speaker 3: the feedback from Facebook group members, to change it up
- 1:35Speaker 3: this year.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so a little backstory here. Five minutes ago, we
- 1:39Speaker 1: were literally figuring out like what we were doing. We
- 1:43Speaker 1: did we wanted to see the first episode first before
- 1:47Speaker 1: like figuring out how we were going to structure this episode. Right, Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'm excited about what we came up with.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I am too. I think it touches on everything, a
- 1:57Speaker 3: little bit of recapping key moments, a little bit of
- 2:00Speaker 3: It's similar to our movie reviews, but not identical. And
- 2:06Speaker 3: I think one of the things that's hard is, like
- 2:08Speaker 3: we knew the structure of season one a lot, like
- 2:11Speaker 3: we knew we were gonna get ninety ninety moments in
- 2:13Speaker 3: twenty twenty three moments. We don't really know what this
- 2:17Speaker 3: season's going to bring, so there may be some segments
- 2:19Speaker 3: we have to bring into the mix as the season progresses.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So, first up, we do know from season one that
- 2:25Speaker 3: they do title every episode with a song title, and
- 2:28Speaker 3: this week's episode is The Space Between, which is a
- 2:32Speaker 3: Dave Matthews Band song from the year two thousand and one.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Are you a Dave Matthews fan.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's not like the full catalog. I do enjoy their music,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but not not like everything. I'm not like one to
- 2:46Speaker 1: go to the yearly concert or anything like that. Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I have been to two Dave Matthews Band concerts. Wow,
- 2:53Speaker 3: that's news in my much younger years. Interesting, I was
- 3:00Speaker 3: like a throw at Dodger Stadium one year.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Did you have a tied ie shirt on?
- 3:06Speaker 3: I didn't look. I will tell you that I went
- 3:10Speaker 3: with some women that I worked with who were hardcore,
- 3:14Speaker 3: and the events that took place in my car prior
- 3:18Speaker 3: to the concert were not done with my sanctioning. Because
- 3:23Speaker 3: I'm a very good girl. I can only imagine.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I was like, we're gonna get arrested.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Jesus, oh my god. Of course you were driving.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Of course I was driving. Who's going to be the
- 3:38Speaker 3: only one nut bombed out of her mind with this concert?
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's over to get his own.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Let's talk news and notes.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Okay, I have a big one.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Please.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Hallmark is advertising that The Way Home reairs on Hallmark Movies,
- 3:55Speaker 1: now right, Yeah, it's on Peacock too. Don't let it
- 4:00Speaker 1: get the it twisted here. I watched it on Peacock
- 4:03Speaker 1: this morning.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so you're saying, don't pay for that Hallmark Movies
- 4:07Speaker 3: Now subscription if you got a Peacock subscription, exactly.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean I think just Hallmark wants people to like
- 4:13Speaker 1: utilize Hallmark Movies Now, which I do. I pay for
- 4:16Speaker 1: a subscription myself, as do, but I also have a
- 4:19Speaker 1: Peacocks Peacock subscription, so I think there's some misleading advertisement
- 4:25Speaker 1: happening there.
- 4:26Speaker 3: So if you missed it, I did see a comment
- 4:29Speaker 3: come in on our Instagram someone saying they had missed it.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Check out Peacock or you know, get a free Homemark
- 4:36Speaker 3: Movies Now at trial if you don't have Peacock well.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And especially if you want to watch the fan favorite
- 4:43Speaker 1: movies that were reviewing this year. I watched them on
- 4:46Speaker 1: Hallmark Movies Now so too. I mean, I just don't
- 4:51Speaker 1: like that Hallmark has been like, oh the way Home
- 4:53Speaker 1: is you know airing the next day. Well, it's all
- 4:56Speaker 1: Peacock too, any.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Cool, lots of options if you don't have traditional cable, yes,
- 5:03Speaker 3: put on the friendly app. Oh yeah, all right, I
- 5:07Speaker 3: have a director. Note this episode was directed by Grant Harvey.
- 5:11Speaker 3: He did direct four episodes in season one of The
- 5:14Speaker 3: Way Home, episodes one, two, five, and six. There is
- 5:19Speaker 3: no updated IMDb info for any of these. I had
- 5:23Speaker 3: to find that information elsewhere, so I do not know
- 5:25Speaker 3: what future episodes he has directed. Of this season. He
- 5:29Speaker 3: has forty five directing credits, tons of TV series and
- 5:34Speaker 3: shows like Heartland, Why Known, irb, Orphan Black. He definitely
- 5:39Speaker 3: veers a little bit more towards the serious than the
- 5:42Speaker 3: rom com.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So I think for this episode, it's important to get
- 5:48Speaker 1: listeners up to speed on where everybody is at in
- 5:52Speaker 1: Port Haven.
- 5:53Speaker 3: So I wanna go character by character.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Okay, let's start with Kat. Sure, she's the editor in
- 6:00Speaker 1: chief at the Herald Now, which has now become a
- 6:03Speaker 1: weekly newspaper, not a daily paper.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Which quite frankly is all porth Haven needs. I'm serious.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, how much news is happening overnight? There?
- 6:12Speaker 3: Quality over quantity.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Alice is getting ready to finish the school year and
- 6:17Speaker 1: she's headed to Minnie, Minneapolis to be with her dad.
- 6:21Speaker 3: For the summer and girlfriend Rachel Elliott has been off
- 6:26Speaker 3: traveling the world. Super Curious how science teacher Elliott was
- 6:31Speaker 3: paying for these world.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Travels, super interested in finding out how science teacher Elliott
- 6:37Speaker 1: left during the school year too, got a Mexican vacation
- 6:42Speaker 1: what not?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Just he was everywhere, I know, but everywhere.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he was sending postcards last from Mexico.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Dell appears to have expanded her enterprises to include beekeeping
- 6:53Speaker 3: and honey sales.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah. My note says Dell is doing be stuff. I mean,
- 7:00Speaker 1: what was she doing before?
- 7:02Speaker 3: Farm stuff?
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't arm stuff.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, she have jam I believe that the high school
- 7:07Speaker 3: kids would harvest.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I don't remember.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And we also find out that Dell's neighbor is gonna
- 7:13Speaker 3: sell his farm and as a result, he will no
- 7:16Speaker 3: longer be farming her land. This just feels like a
- 7:19Speaker 3: little bit of like exposition, right. This neighbor shows up.
- 7:22Speaker 3: If we've seen him before, it's been very brief. I
- 7:25Speaker 3: don't recall this man. Do you recall this man? I don't,
- 7:28Speaker 3: And I watched last season pretty carefully. I feel like
- 7:32Speaker 3: we're setting up for you know. He says, well, you
- 7:34Speaker 3: could probably get someone else to farm the land, and
- 7:37Speaker 3: Dell so she'll handle it. She's not going anywhere, and
- 7:42Speaker 3: we're going to talk in the next segment. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 3: Delle's having a little bit of like a existential crisis
- 7:47Speaker 3: about her place in the world, and so that might
- 7:50Speaker 3: influence how she feels about what they're going to do
- 7:52Speaker 3: with this land and the Landry Farm and the history
- 7:56Speaker 3: that lives there.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, she is the owner of the restaurant. I can't
- 8:05Speaker 1: remember the name of it right now. Anyway, she seems
- 8:08Speaker 1: to be very good friends with Cat now they seem
- 8:11Speaker 1: very close.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they seem to have let go of their antagonistic
- 8:17Speaker 3: relationship because they were hot and cold in season one.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And I don't know if you caught it. When Spencer
- 8:23Speaker 1: picks up Alice for school, you hear a voice over
- 8:28Speaker 1: say I got into that cooking school or something like that.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So I'm like, is Spencer going to be leaving?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Well, she says, like what in Italy or in France?
- 8:37Speaker 3: It's somewhere far away.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah, And is that just setting us up
- 8:43Speaker 2: for like Spencer's not going to miss her When they're
- 8:47Speaker 2: on their spoiler alert later in this episode time travel Escapades.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Perhaps, perhaps perhaps we also know that Cat has been
- 8:55Speaker 3: cheesing down leads on Jacob in lieu of time traveling.
- 8:57Speaker 3: They have stopped jumping in the pond, and so she
- 9:00Speaker 3: was working with a historical society because based on information
- 9:03Speaker 3: she found in the almanac, she knows that Jacob was
- 9:06Speaker 3: somewhere in time after the Almanac existed. He left her
- 9:09Speaker 3: that clue about explorers looking to the stars, but she
- 9:15Speaker 3: has come up empty so far. Dun, dun, dun.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They're gonna go to the pond again. Spoiler. They also
- 9:23Speaker 1: introduced three new characters. Evelyn Goodwin, who we learned just
- 9:29Speaker 1: recently passed and she is part of the founding family
- 9:33Speaker 1: of Port Haven. We're going to talk about her and
- 9:36Speaker 1: a little bit more later and then also Elijah and
- 9:39Speaker 1: Rebecca Landry are also founding family members. Never heard of
- 9:44Speaker 1: them before this season, never knew about their initials in
- 9:48Speaker 1: the fireplace, nothing like that before.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Yes, it makes me wonder if Rebecca Landry is perhaps
- 9:53Speaker 3: the answer to one of the questions we're gonna ask
- 9:55Speaker 3: later in this episode. Oh right, all right, so well,
- 10:00Speaker 3: let's hear a synopsis of this episode.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Sure Dale recreates traditions of family summers past, Alice misses
- 10:08Speaker 1: her friends, and Kat grapples with Jacob's mystery in the
- 10:12Speaker 1: wake of losing Elliott.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I feel like that does a good job ignoring a
- 10:18Speaker 3: major plot point that we're going to discuss every episode,
- 10:21Speaker 3: kind of the key plot points happening moving our story forward.
- 10:24Speaker 3: And I think the big key plot point in this
- 10:27Speaker 3: episode is you said Evelyn Goodwin? Is it Goodwin or Goodwin?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Did I write it down correctly?
- 10:33Speaker 1: I might have written it down incorrectly.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Well, she wouldn't be on IMDb because she did. Okay,
- 10:40Speaker 3: Evelyn has passed away. She's a town legend, and in
- 10:43Speaker 3: her will she has left a number of assets to
- 10:47Speaker 3: the Herald that Kat now has to dig through. And
- 10:50Speaker 3: I think Kat shows up expecting maybe there's going to
- 10:54Speaker 3: be a box of documents or items, but no, in fact,
- 10:57Speaker 3: there's rooms upon rooms of cardboard boxes and cat She
- 11:01Speaker 3: comments that, like this is like the ending of Indiana Jones, right,
- 11:03Speaker 3: like the treasure they find, which that was quite funny.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I didn't really get it. It's been a long time
- 11:08Speaker 1: since I've seen an Indiana Jones movie.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I just think like at the end, they're always discovering
- 11:13Speaker 3: some treasure or another. It's always bigger and more vast
- 11:17Speaker 3: than they expected it to be. That's okay, my understanding
- 11:19Speaker 3: but certainly there are bigger Indiana Jones fans out there
- 11:23Speaker 3: than I. This kind of sets off like a trajectory
- 11:28Speaker 3: for both of our moms. We've got Cat and Dell
- 11:31Speaker 3: both kind of experiencing some things as a result of
- 11:36Speaker 3: this visit to the Evelyn estate. Yeah. Cat among the
- 11:39Speaker 3: boxes discovers a portrait that looks shockingly.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Like Cat herself. Yeah, I guess.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I was like, it's her with the inscription my Catherine.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And that portrait is two hundred years old. So we
- 11:55Speaker 3: know some things, right.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Like why is it hanging in this house?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, that's another good question. Dell is on her
- 12:03Speaker 3: own little exploration in this home, and it's really kind
- 12:06Speaker 3: of sad because she comes across this room, which is
- 12:09Speaker 3: like Evelyn's sick room. All of her medications are still there.
- 12:12Speaker 3: There's like a reclainer pointing out the window, and Dell
- 12:16Speaker 3: just realizes, like, this woman kind of died alone in
- 12:19Speaker 3: this big house. And I think she has a moment.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I know she has a moment because she discusses it
- 12:25Speaker 3: later where she's like, wait, I don't want this to
- 12:26Speaker 3: be me stuck in time. I want to move forward,
- 12:31Speaker 3: even in the midst of the tragedy of my life.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Did you notice the binoculars in that scene? I did.
- 12:39Speaker 3: They're on a stand right, It.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Was just weird they're by the window. In my mind,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I'm like, what is she looking out over the Landrys farm?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Because in my head, and this may not be the
- 12:52Speaker 1: actual logistics, but I feel like that mansion what did
- 12:56Speaker 1: they call it, Lingamore something like that overlooking the Landry farm.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Here's why I don't think it's that, because they talk
- 13:05Speaker 3: about having to take a drive out to oh X location. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 3: so I think it might be not on their land.
- 13:14Speaker 1: So do you think maybe the binoculars are just significant
- 13:17Speaker 1: because it's this old woman who's alone in her house
- 13:21Speaker 1: and she's looking out over the town because she's sad.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I think that scene gives us more questions and answers
- 13:28Speaker 3: because there's a couple like flashbacks, but audio only for
- 13:33Speaker 3: both Kat and Dell. Did you remember hearing that like
- 13:37Speaker 3: there's some yelling in the background, something seems like a
- 13:40Speaker 3: party scene happening. Yes, but we don't there's no visual,
- 13:45Speaker 3: so we don't know. We don't know what those moments
- 13:47Speaker 3: are referencing. We don't know what this house has to
- 13:50Speaker 3: do with them. There's a lot we don't know about
- 13:52Speaker 3: this house and it's connection to the Landry women.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Well, especially I thought it was interesting when Kat tells
- 13:58Speaker 1: Dell that she's going up there, like, yeah, I'm going
- 14:01Speaker 1: with you, you know, So, like, what's the significance of this house?
- 14:05Speaker 1: How did it play a role with this family? I'm
- 14:08Speaker 1: interested me too. All right, let's talk moments. We liked
- 14:12Speaker 1: what grabbed you in this episode. Well, Rita really coming
- 14:17Speaker 1: in hot with her jokes, and I loved it when
- 14:20Speaker 1: she tells Kat. Did she tell Cat? Yeah, she told
- 14:25Speaker 1: Cat that Elliott had a glow up in what the
- 14:28Speaker 1: kids are calling a hot boy summer. I about died.
- 14:32Speaker 1: My daughter watching this with me, rolled her eyes. I
- 14:35Speaker 1: thought it was hilarious. It's literally the first thing in
- 14:38Speaker 1: my notes Rita. Rita drove me crazy last season, but
- 14:43Speaker 1: maybe I like Rita this season.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Rita's coming in hot. So in general in this episode,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I like the way the flashbacks were handled. We don't
- 14:50Speaker 3: have any time travel up until the very last scene,
- 14:53Speaker 3: so we don't get the normal movement of nineteen nineties
- 14:57Speaker 3: present day, but we did still we have nineteen nineties
- 15:01Speaker 3: Landry moments in flashback form and particularly in the summer
- 15:06Speaker 3: firework party parallel and then the party after party at
- 15:10Speaker 3: the Cove, and I'm so glad that we're still getting
- 15:14Speaker 3: those moments, like we're still seeing Colton, we're still seeing
- 15:17Speaker 3: the happy Landry family pre tragedy in the nineties, because
- 15:22Speaker 3: that's so core to this series for me. We know
- 15:26Speaker 3: that according to Elliott, Alice never time traveled back to
- 15:31Speaker 3: the nineties again, so it was unclear and I was
- 15:36Speaker 3: a little nervous. Second seasons of shows can struggle, yes,
- 15:40Speaker 3: and I was drawn back in immediately like they wasted
- 15:45Speaker 3: no time. This was a plus episode for me.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think so too. I will say I the first
- 15:51Speaker 1: five minutes were super chaotic, and I was like, this
- 15:54Speaker 1: feels like an end of an episode versus the beginning.
- 15:58Speaker 1: But we just had, like the end of the you know,
- 16:00Speaker 1: it was winter season, Alice gets trapped under the ice,
- 16:03Speaker 1: which like unlocked a lot of fears. Me too. I
- 16:08Speaker 1: was like, oh God, awful, awful, awful, But that felt
- 16:12Speaker 1: like so weird and chaotic to open the episode like this,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I thought, any other moments that you liked or stood out?
- 16:22Speaker 3: I liked Kat and Elliott's kiss, and I like that
- 16:25Speaker 3: it sets up for us that they both still have
- 16:27Speaker 3: feelings for each other.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But here's what I like.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I like that their roles have reversed a little bit.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Kat is the one who steps back, you know, Elliot
- 16:35Speaker 3: broker heart he needed more, he took off, and Elliot's like, wait,
- 16:41Speaker 3: obviously he wanted that moment to go on. We see
- 16:44Speaker 3: in the text that he deletes later that he wished
- 16:47Speaker 3: that moment had continued. And I'm wondering in Elliott's perspective,
- 16:51Speaker 3: is he like, Okay, now I've had my room springer,
- 16:55Speaker 3: so to speak. Is he going to be like, Okay,
- 16:58Speaker 3: I'm ready now you should be waiting for me. And
- 17:01Speaker 3: she wasn't kind of like it.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's not like she's like moved on to
- 17:07Speaker 1: somebody else either, you know what I mean. She's just
- 17:11Speaker 1: she chose her right, you know what I mean, and
- 17:15Speaker 1: to heal and to repair her relationship with Alice and
- 17:19Speaker 1: her mom. And I mean, it's good they have to
- 17:23Speaker 1: continue the tension between these two, obviously because it was
- 17:27Speaker 1: a significant part to last season. So of course I'm
- 17:31Speaker 1: rooting for them to get together.
- 17:33Speaker 3: There's no way these two aren't the endgame of this show, absolutely,
- 17:36Speaker 3: all right, it's time for some unsolved mysteries, and there's
- 17:39Speaker 3: a lot of them in this episode.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Like I told you, I feel like we're not getting
- 17:44Speaker 1: any closer to an answer. This episode just opened like
- 17:48Speaker 1: a bigger can of worms, you know, Like I feel
- 17:52Speaker 1: at the end of season one, we kind of got
- 17:56Speaker 1: an understanding that, yes, we all believe Jacob jumped into
- 18:00Speaker 1: the pond and it is somewhere time traveling somewhere, right.
- 18:05Speaker 1: But now, well, first of all, it opens the episode
- 18:08Speaker 1: where we have this old woman and Jacob. Who is
- 18:12Speaker 1: the old woman one? And I don't know if you.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Know, Landry, I don't know.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I don't know either, And I kind of thought that
- 18:22Speaker 1: their clothes look dated, like eighteen hundred dated, like two
- 18:26Speaker 1: hundred years old dated. Agree, Yes, so maybe that's where
- 18:31Speaker 1: everybody's headed is back to.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I mean, we know from the final scene of Slash one, yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 3: that they're headed pretty far in the past based on
- 18:43Speaker 3: long haired cats dressing gown that she's running through the
- 18:47Speaker 3: woods in, so that that stands to reason. But then
- 18:50Speaker 3: it's the question she says, you know, you have to
- 18:52Speaker 3: stay here now for a while, and why, what's happening
- 18:56Speaker 3: where and when? And why are all the questions, Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 3: what's the horse doing? Is the horse time traveling? Did
- 19:02Speaker 3: the horse trump in the pond? Are there wild horses?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Clearly Dell is taken by this horse. It's not a
- 19:09Speaker 3: regular occurrence. So what's the deal with the horse? And
- 19:12Speaker 3: they really like hit you over the head with it,
- 19:15Speaker 3: Like if you didn't notice this horse in the first scene,
- 19:16Speaker 3: here's two more scenes where we're gonna make sure you
- 19:19Speaker 3: realize that there's something to this horse, y'all.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, did it come out of the pond? Like is
- 19:24Speaker 1: it going to be wet at some point? And they're
- 19:26Speaker 1: gonna be like, oh, it's from the pond. I don't
- 19:30Speaker 1: know is the horse?
- 19:31Speaker 2: Like?
- 19:31Speaker 3: What the heck am I doing here? And where is
- 19:33Speaker 3: my farm? I cannot find my hay Lady with the honey,
- 19:38Speaker 3: please feed me?
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 19:40Speaker 1: What's this wild horse just running around Port Haven?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Weird? Okay? Who is watching Colton and Elliott's conversation?
- 19:49Speaker 3: Me?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Personally? I think it is Colton?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Oh you think it's Colton?
- 19:54Speaker 1: I paused it. The hair looks similar. He's wearing a
- 19:58Speaker 1: plaid shirt. It's giving Coulton vibes. But I don't know
- 20:02Speaker 1: from when, from before he died.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I could be wrong. Who do you think it could be? Watching?
- 20:12Speaker 3: Well? I thought it was Elliot from another time, like
- 20:17Speaker 3: adult Elliot.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But that's not his style though, my lad.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Shirt, well, he's got to steal it from somebody. He's
- 20:25Speaker 3: coming out of the pond. Maybe he's pulling it off
- 20:27Speaker 3: their clothesline. That's a good point, it's not his style.
- 20:31Speaker 3: My other thought was maybe it's Jacob. That doesn't make sense.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It could be Jacob as an adult.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I don't there's too many questions. I am glad that
- 20:45Speaker 3: they gave us that scene twice because the first time
- 20:49Speaker 3: it was very easy to miss the did you hear that?
- 20:52Speaker 3: And then they move on and then we get it
- 20:54Speaker 3: again and we pull back and see the shadowy figure.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Who is it? That's interesting? Didn't occur to meet this
- 21:00Speaker 3: Culton But.
- 21:01Speaker 1: But no, I think maybe it might be Jacob. I
- 21:04Speaker 1: don't know. Oh, this so many questions.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Hey, friends, Megan here and I had to add this
- 21:11Speaker 4: emergency note to this podcast episode. It is currently Tuesday morning.
- 21:15Speaker 4: We recorded this on Monday. The episode drops on Wednesday.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I couldn't wait another week to discuss this. I saw
- 21:20Speaker 4: on Instagram while scrolling this morning, someone said, I think
- 21:23Speaker 4: Elliott might be a villain, and look, I'm not ready
- 21:25Speaker 4: to go there yet. I still think Elliott's one of
- 21:27Speaker 4: the good guys, but I don't think he's been truthful.
- 21:30Speaker 4: I now strongly suspect that Elliott was not traveling but
- 21:35Speaker 4: time traveling while he was gone. And I also, in
- 21:39Speaker 4: addition to that, believe that he lied to Alice when
- 21:41Speaker 4: he told her that she never returned to nineteen eighty
- 21:44Speaker 4: nine porth Haven.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Again, we'll see why.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I don't have the answers to that, but I think
- 21:51Speaker 4: we're onto something here. All right, back to the episode.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Well, here's another question that ties into this. Alice and
- 21:58Speaker 3: Kat jump into the pond, and we don't know when
- 22:02Speaker 3: either of them are. Alice emerges from the pond and
- 22:05Speaker 3: sees young Elliott. I assumed that meant she was in
- 22:08Speaker 3: the nineties, but you pointed out I.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Think young Elliott might be in current day.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's why I'm like, wait a minute, when
- 22:20Speaker 3: you said that, if young Elliott is time traveling, maybe
- 22:24Speaker 3: adult Elliot also does some time traveling, because when he
- 22:28Speaker 3: sees cat Analys go back to the pond, I don't know.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Maybe because that scene when they jump into the water
- 22:38Speaker 1: when they're holding hands and Kat gets ripped from her
- 22:41Speaker 1: because she gets all caught up in the weeds, right,
- 22:45Speaker 1: Alice to me, I assume she swims up. She's getting
- 22:50Speaker 1: out in twenty twenty four, let's say, and we see
- 22:54Speaker 1: young Elliott, So I I think young Elliott is in
- 22:59Speaker 1: current day.
- 23:01Speaker 3: The only reason I didn't think that is they jump
- 23:04Speaker 3: in the pond in the summer. When they come out,
- 23:06Speaker 3: it's like foggy and give the image of it being
- 23:10Speaker 3: cold outside even when Alice comes up again. This is
- 23:15Speaker 3: filmed in Vancouver. It could very well have been cold
- 23:18Speaker 3: and they just couldn't do anything about that. I don't
- 23:21Speaker 3: know more. When they jump in the pond, who were
- 23:24Speaker 3: those voices we hear? You know, I commented earlier and
- 23:27Speaker 3: were prepping our notes that the seaweed talks. Obviously it's
- 23:29Speaker 3: not the seaweed, but we hear voices saying something like, oh,
- 23:33Speaker 3: don't you want to know what she's doing here? And
- 23:34Speaker 3: then they the sentient seaweed grabs her and pulls her under,
- 23:39Speaker 3: and then where does she go? And who shoots her?
- 23:42Speaker 3: And obviously she does not die, so what is going
- 23:46Speaker 3: to happen?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Who shoots her? And I was trying. I don't know
- 23:50Speaker 1: anything about like weapons, So I was like, is this
- 23:53Speaker 1: like an old timey gun? Yeah?
- 23:55Speaker 3: I like it right, current time gun. I don't know
- 24:01Speaker 3: a musket. I don't know either. I don't even know
- 24:04Speaker 3: what a musket is. It just sounds old again, don't know. Yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 3: so many questions, You're right, and of course the cat portrait.
- 24:12Speaker 3: What is the providence of that portrait? No idea. I
- 24:17Speaker 3: wish I had some answers. I don't more questions. Another segment,
- 24:21Speaker 3: did we find Jacob? Which is going to be an
- 24:24Speaker 3: ongoing segment, And I would like to say that I
- 24:26Speaker 3: feel like there's a couple of things that I personally
- 24:30Speaker 3: feel like I know to be true. Tell me we
- 24:33Speaker 3: are going to find Jacob this season. I don't think
- 24:37Speaker 3: they can. I don't think they can do it to us. Again,
- 24:39Speaker 3: I think we got to find him. Whether we get
- 24:41Speaker 3: him back or not, somebody has to put eyes on him.
- 24:44Speaker 3: One of the present day Landry ladies. Yes, that would
- 24:48Speaker 3: be awesome, especially knowing that at the end of season one,
- 24:52Speaker 3: Cat says Jacob will come back for you.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yes. Look, I'm fully hung up. I am now convinced
- 25:00Speaker 1: that it was Jacob who was watching Cold and Jacob
- 25:05Speaker 1: It just wait a minute, wait, wait, wait, No, what
- 25:09Speaker 1: I'm going to say next is not going to make
- 25:10Speaker 1: sense because I was like, doesn't Jacob isn't he as
- 25:15Speaker 1: a child? Isn't he wearing a plaid shirt? Well, he's
- 25:18Speaker 1: not going to be wearing the same damn plaid shirt
- 25:19Speaker 1: as an adult, So no, I don't know. Well that
- 25:23Speaker 1: goes to my other point we've talked about before, like,
- 25:26Speaker 1: when we find Jacob, what form is it going to
- 25:28Speaker 1: be in?
- 25:28Speaker 3: Right? We know that in the Way Home Universe, when
- 25:32Speaker 3: you time travel, time passes at the same speed it's
- 25:35Speaker 3: passing at the time you came from. Right, So when
- 25:39Speaker 3: they find Jacob, he will be adult Jacob, like when
- 25:43Speaker 3: adult Cat finds Jacob. Making the assumption that's he will
- 25:47Speaker 3: be an adult, He's not going to be stuck in
- 25:50Speaker 3: his eight year old body, right, because less unless she
- 25:56Speaker 3: goes back to the moment he goes back. Right, That's
- 26:00Speaker 3: where it gets confusing. Let's with made up numbers. Let's
- 26:03Speaker 3: say he goes from nineteen ninety to eighteen twelve. Moving forward,
- 26:09Speaker 3: he would get older every year. But if kat goes
- 26:11Speaker 3: from twenty twenty four to eighteen twelve. Then he is
- 26:15Speaker 3: still eight years old. This hurts my brain. I was
- 26:19Speaker 3: having a whole thought to myself last night on my
- 26:22Speaker 3: walk with the dog, really trying to process how we're
- 26:28Speaker 3: gonna find Jacob, and I thought, I know what I know,
- 26:31Speaker 3: but maybe I don't time travel. Every time it gets me.
- 26:34Speaker 3: At the second I think I've got it, it throws
- 26:37Speaker 3: me for another loop.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Oh boy, hey, here'd be a real curve fault. What
- 26:41Speaker 1: if they bring Jacob back as an adult and he's
- 26:44Speaker 1: played by Tyler Hines. How about did you would imagine?
- 26:51Speaker 3: Here's why that doesn't work for me because he's a
- 26:54Speaker 3: little boy. I know he's an adult at this point,
- 26:56Speaker 3: but I'm like, cute little Jacob. It's not The cognitive
- 27:00Speaker 3: dissonance is not gonna work with like hot dude Tyler Hines.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Although let's not forget how hot young Nick is. Oh yes,
- 27:09Speaker 3: we got to see hot Nick again. Hot Nick is back.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, this show is just all over the place,
- 27:17Speaker 1: But I love it. That's what makes the show so good.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It makes you're thinking about it while you're walking the dog.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Also, I do want to say that Alice nailed the
- 27:27Speaker 3: teenaged thanks in this episode. She's annoyed with everybody and
- 27:30Speaker 3: I loved it. She's like, Elliott, you suck like she
- 27:33Speaker 3: just I loved it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Tell me exactly why she's pissed that Elliott bounced, because
- 27:39Speaker 1: I think.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Elliott is like a parental figure in her life and
- 27:42Speaker 3: he was like, I will be here for you, and
- 27:43Speaker 3: then he took off. Okay, And I don't think fifteen
- 27:47Speaker 3: year olds can process the need for an adult to
- 27:51Speaker 3: do their own thing.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Make some space for themselves, right right? Can we move
- 27:57Speaker 1: on to our next segment? Oh my gosh, yess, we're
- 27:59Speaker 1: not done. Okay, Okay, Like you said, I think music
- 28:02Speaker 1: is a big part of the show. Obviously it was
- 28:04Speaker 1: a big part of season one, so I thought it
- 28:06Speaker 1: would be fun to like highlight it in these podcasts
- 28:09Speaker 1: going forward. M hmm with a segment we're gonna call
- 28:12Speaker 1: Gen Piken does it again? Now you're like, who the
- 28:15Speaker 1: heck is Jen Piken? Well, she is the Emmy Award
- 28:19Speaker 1: winning music supervisor for The Way Home and you won
- 28:24Speaker 1: her Emmy four.
- 28:26Speaker 3: She won her Emmy four This is Us for the
- 28:29Speaker 3: music supervision This is Us.
- 28:32Speaker 1: She has also worked on so many things. I'm gonna
- 28:36Speaker 1: name a few of them. Workaholics, Las Vegas, One Tree Hill.
- 28:40Speaker 1: My personal fave. This the music in One Tree Hill.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It has burned a memory in my brain. I remember
- 28:47Speaker 1: how good it was Alias Felicity. And also a movie
- 28:53Speaker 1: called Reality Bites, which is one of the best soundtracks
- 28:57Speaker 1: movie of my youth. Yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Jen Piken's a real legend.
- 29:02Speaker 1: She is. I mean, I like followed her on Instagram today.
- 29:06Speaker 1: She does like a masterclass and music supervision. Oh she's
- 29:10Speaker 1: the real deals. So let's talk about the music. In
- 29:14Speaker 1: this episode, when Kat's running, she's listening to a song
- 29:19Speaker 1: called Decode by Paramore from two thousand and eight. And
- 29:24Speaker 1: as I'm watching this last night, I even tweeted I
- 29:27Speaker 1: was like Paramore on the Hallmark channel like unheard of,
- 29:32Speaker 1: Like that's so freaking cool. I just loved it, loved it.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Great song choice. Also, of course the song of the
- 29:40Speaker 1: Summer Still My Sunshine by Lynn, which had to be
- 29:45Speaker 1: a one hit wonder because I remember the song. I
- 29:48Speaker 1: don't remember the band at all. It's from nineteen ninety nine.
- 29:52Speaker 1: This whole scene where they're like singing it in the
- 29:56Speaker 1: kitchen made me very uncomfortable.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: It kind of felt like when you go to a
- 30:01Speaker 1: concert and you see people trying to sing a song
- 30:03Speaker 1: that they don't know the words too. I felt like
- 30:07Speaker 1: they didn't really know the words the song, and it
- 30:09Speaker 1: made me feel very old.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Yeah, the Dell moment especially, I'm sorry, but I'm sorry. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And then of course we got All for You by
- 30:20Speaker 1: Sister Hazel from nineteen ninety seven. This is a repeat
- 30:23Speaker 1: from last year. If I recall, I love that song.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Can we share the deep dive that somebody shared with
- 30:30Speaker 1: and our Facebook group about that song?
- 30:32Speaker 3: Please?
- 30:33Speaker 1: Do you remember it? No, let me go back and
- 30:36Speaker 1: find it. Oh, I have it? Okay, read it to us.
- 30:39Speaker 3: While listening to the replay of the Way Home reviews
- 30:41Speaker 3: in prep for the release of season two, this is
- 30:43Speaker 3: the post you're talking about, right, Yes, they were discussing
- 30:46Speaker 3: the song that Elliot and Kat listened to on the
- 30:48Speaker 3: road trip, All for You. I wondered if Megan and
- 30:51Speaker 3: Wendy realized that Sister Hazel is the reason that Sixth
- 30:54Speaker 3: Man got started, and sixth Man is who is producing
- 30:57Speaker 3: the Hallmark Christmas Wild coincidence. That is wild, And of
- 31:02Speaker 3: course we will be on the Hallmark Christmas cruise and base.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Oh wouldn't that be cool if Sister Hazel is there?
- 31:10Speaker 3: Can you imagine? That's why I love our Facebook group though,
- 31:13Speaker 3: because they all know, Like, it's not just a one
- 31:15Speaker 3: off that someone posted that deep cut information.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Yeah, well everybody there knows something. It's awesome.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Yes, thank you for reminding me of that moment.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You're welcome, all right.
