- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, let's bring in Mosure for today's football at
- 0:02Speaker 1: four here on the Sports Bats Live on ninety seven
- 0:04Speaker 1: to three ESPN, as the Eagles win and Jeff, they
- 0:08Speaker 1: do it in a way that excites people, right, So
- 0:10Speaker 1: when you see the way they won yesterday, is it
- 0:13Speaker 1: a shift in philosophy? Do they just is it a
- 0:16Speaker 1: one week only thing? Or is this are they ready
- 0:18Speaker 1: to unlock something here?
- 0:22Speaker 2: I mean, I've seen they've played this game a couple
- 0:24Speaker 2: of times this year, right where they don't look very
- 0:27Speaker 2: good for a half and then they come out and
- 0:29Speaker 2: just drop bombs, whether it's the first half or the
- 0:32Speaker 2: second half. I think that this looked a lot like
- 0:35Speaker 2: a typical Eagles win. And of course there are you know,
- 0:39Speaker 2: some people are really happy with it, and some people
- 0:41Speaker 2: think that there was either meat left on the bone
- 0:43Speaker 2: or just some to be desired from it.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Well, I guess the way that they threw the ball
- 0:48Speaker 1: down the field, they had a lot of big plays
- 0:50Speaker 1: they were able to convert in key spots. I mean,
- 0:52Speaker 1: their third down conversion is still a huge problem. But
- 0:55Speaker 1: you're right the first half, you know, it was the
- 0:57Speaker 1: same thing, three and out, three and out, three and out.
- 0:59Speaker 1: But it was the way that, hey, fourth and four,
- 1:01Speaker 1: you make the throw some of the inside you know,
- 1:04Speaker 1: the inside touchdown to Brown, the long throw obviously to
- 1:07Speaker 1: Devonte Smith. So I don't know, it felt like there
- 1:11Speaker 1: was more cohesion maybe in the past game.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you are making a fair point that
- 1:17Speaker 2: even in games and Eagles have won where the past
- 1:21Speaker 2: game has looked better in certain starts in the game,
- 1:24Speaker 2: you haven't seen as many explosives as you saw against
- 1:28Speaker 2: the Vikings defense, and you know it was bound to happen.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean, it finally had to happen. I didn't think
- 1:33Speaker 2: we were gonna go all year without the explosive element
- 1:37Speaker 2: of the Eagles offense showing up, where both DeVante Smith
- 1:40Speaker 2: and aj Brown performed. Well, I mean, I guess we're
- 1:44Speaker 2: just still waiting. I've been saying, you're not gonna go
- 1:46Speaker 2: all year out seeing sae Quon Barkley and not have
- 1:49Speaker 2: one hundred yards. But here we are and he still
- 1:52Speaker 2: doesn't happen.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Why is the run game struggling? Yesterday? Same thing?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Offensive line or what when you watch he had eighteen
- 2:00Speaker 1: carries for only forty four yards. I mean, just almost
- 2:03Speaker 1: insignificant portion of the you know part of the game
- 2:06Speaker 1: yesterday again.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what, I gotta give tread Its
- 2:10Speaker 2: and the Eagles for trying something different. I wrote to
- 2:12Speaker 2: some silly voice today. They they did about sixteen snaps
- 2:17Speaker 2: of under center, which not you don't really see he's
- 2:20Speaker 2: at a whole lot. You know, Hurt's going under center.
- 2:22Speaker 2: And that's the highest they played this year. And I
- 2:25Speaker 2: wasn't able to go back. I ended the time to
- 2:27Speaker 2: really research it, but I imagine that was pretty big amount.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You know, that might be their most that they played
- 2:34Speaker 2: in a while. And I know that Brett Toast had
- 2:38Speaker 2: to play center when Jurgens came out, and told has
- 2:40Speaker 2: struggles snapping the ball when he is at the shotgun.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So there's part of me thought maybe that's why they
- 2:49Speaker 2: played so much under center. But honestly, the first four
- 2:51Speaker 2: plays of the game they were under center, and then
- 2:53Speaker 2: they threw Fred Johnson out there on eight of those
- 2:56Speaker 2: sixteen sixteen under center snaps to try to get more
- 3:00Speaker 2: extra blocker in the run game and upfront, and you
- 3:03Speaker 2: know the result was sa sik One actually only rushed
- 3:07Speaker 2: for twenty three yards and twelve carries, worse than his
- 3:09Speaker 2: actual season average, but the seventy nine yard touchdown, all right,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and then a couple of them. There was a seventy
- 3:18Speaker 2: nine yard touchdown and the twenty one yarder and eighteen
- 3:21Speaker 2: yard a device so that those came from under center.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So they clearly did a good job of seeing how
- 3:28Speaker 2: the Vikings were defending them when they were under center
- 3:31Speaker 2: in the first half, which was the boundary safety kept
- 3:34Speaker 2: creeping up, peeping up, trying to play against a run,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and then took advantage of that in a passing game.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So I know everybody loves that word adjustments and everyone
- 3:42Speaker 2: has to come down on Kevin Patulo and play falling.
- 3:45Speaker 2: But those were goods and those were good plays based
- 3:49Speaker 2: on what the Vikings had been doing for the formation
- 3:52Speaker 2: that the Eagles had been showing.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Well, they had a perfect balance yesterday twenty three runs,
- 3:59Speaker 1: twenty three passes. So it wasn't like at the end
- 4:02Speaker 1: of the day they didn't just say, hey, we're going
- 4:03Speaker 1: to just throw the ball all over the yard. I mean,
- 4:05Speaker 1: there wasn't a lot of plays in the game. Forty
- 4:07Speaker 1: six is a low amount of plays to run in
- 4:10Speaker 1: the game, but obviously it's some of the throws and
- 4:14Speaker 1: some of the passes that they were able to make,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and a lot of it came in the second half,
- 4:18Speaker 1: of which you talked about over at Philly Voice, is
- 4:21Speaker 1: the fact that they finally got aj involved, they got
- 4:25Speaker 1: Devonte Smith involved. But this is a lot of I
- 4:28Speaker 1: don't know, did Jalen Hurts just make better reads and
- 4:30Speaker 1: did they call a better game?
- 4:32Speaker 3: Why was it able to come alive?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Well, I think I think it's a combination of things, right,
- 4:38Speaker 2: I mean, I just mentioned some of the schematic things
- 4:40Speaker 2: they did differently. The Vikings are going to give you opportunities,
- 4:43Speaker 2: are going to rush six a lot. That was their
- 4:46Speaker 2: primary defense, rushing six, So you know that's that's a blitz.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So that means you if you're and if you're under
- 4:51Speaker 2: central like that with an extra offensive lineman, you've got
- 4:54Speaker 2: more guys the blocks than they're bringing. So that's that's helpful.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And I think, you know, Jalen Hurts made some really
- 5:02Speaker 2: beautiful throws. Obviously, the play action to seventy nine yarder
- 5:05Speaker 2: Davante Smith was sort of vintage Jalen Hurts with the
- 5:09Speaker 2: beautiful dime downfield in stride. But I thought the touchdown
- 5:13Speaker 2: to a J. Brown, not the first one, the second
- 5:15Speaker 2: one where he put it between two defenders. I think
- 5:18Speaker 2: it was a bang eight that they call it. That
- 5:21Speaker 2: to me was such a beautiful throw because he had
- 5:25Speaker 2: a thread some needles. I believe it was between the
- 5:27Speaker 2: numbers there. He made a throw before that, I think
- 5:29Speaker 2: the twenty one yard at a smith where he absolutely
- 5:32Speaker 2: took a massive hit right as he was unloading the ball.
- 5:36Speaker 2: He just made better plays. Yeah, I think I think
- 5:38Speaker 2: that's it and nothing that shouldn't be like strange, right,
- 5:42Speaker 2: because how many times last year did we see the
- 5:45Speaker 2: offense pass offense not really play very well and just
- 5:49Speaker 2: kind of do what it needed to do to get
- 5:51Speaker 2: by and then like you play, it seemed like the
- 5:53Speaker 2: Steelers and all of a sudden, Jail's like bang bang bang,
- 5:56Speaker 2: you know things are going well, no huddle, all that stuff.
- 5:58Speaker 2: So it's it's it's sort of a surprise, I guess
- 6:01Speaker 2: for this year, but it's really in the bigger picture,
- 6:05Speaker 2: not a surprise that every once in a while in
- 6:06Speaker 2: the past, game just flicks in a way that you
- 6:08Speaker 2: don't see it happen all the time every week.
- 6:12Speaker 3: What is your overall take on the run game's future
- 6:15Speaker 3: this season?
- 6:16Speaker 1: I mean, is this something that's fixable or I mean,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know, we did our unsportsman like moment today.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Chris Canny this morning basically.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Said, look, look, the Eagles can't unless they get this
- 6:25Speaker 1: run game going, they can't be what they want to be.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Is that accurate?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I agree with the assessment of this.
- 6:33Speaker 2: If the Eagles are not going to be a dominant
- 6:35Speaker 2: run game, I think that the playing field between them
- 6:41Speaker 2: and say the Lions, Bucks and Rams is a little
- 6:45Speaker 2: more even whereas last year it was there to lose
- 6:48Speaker 2: once they got everything going. By the end of the year,
- 6:50Speaker 2: the Eagles looked like the dominant team in the NFL
- 6:53Speaker 2: and then played like it, well at least for you know,
- 6:55Speaker 2: the NFC championship in Super Bowl. But if they can't
- 6:58Speaker 2: get an effective game at all this year, that that's
- 7:03Speaker 2: really telltale on the offensive line. And if you're telling
- 7:05Speaker 2: me that, as you always say, Mike, you know, the
- 7:07Speaker 2: offensive line is the MVP, and if the MVP ain't
- 7:09Speaker 2: playing like an MVP, then to me, it becomes a
- 7:12Speaker 2: much more difficult obstacle for this team to win a
- 7:15Speaker 2: Super Bowl.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Right And you saw TOAs I mean, obviously that's not ideal.
- 7:20Speaker 1: You know, all was back out there yesterday. You're hoping
- 7:24Speaker 1: that Dickerson my lot, but like, you run the ball
- 7:27Speaker 1: to the left hand side behind my Lotta and Dickerson.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I know the center is involved in that play, but hey,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I'm want to go off tackle with my Lotta and Dickerson.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I feel like I should have.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Some success there if I go behind Steen and Johnson, like,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I feel like I should.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Get some success.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Is it the way they're trying to run the ball
- 7:43Speaker 1: or is it Nope, this offensive line still out of sync.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's I mean, listen, Dickerson's out there, but
- 7:50Speaker 2: he's not out there at one hundred percent. I don't
- 7:52Speaker 2: think my Alana is played great this year. I don't
- 7:56Speaker 2: know if he's battling something in training camp. I think
- 7:58Speaker 2: a lot of the reporters who were there, myself, we
- 8:00Speaker 2: thought at times looked like he was grimacing. I mean,
- 8:03Speaker 2: he's never been on the injury report, so I don't know,
- 8:06Speaker 2: but he just not has He's not been himself. And
- 8:09Speaker 2: then you combine that with everybody knows what the Eagles
- 8:11Speaker 2: do and who they are and what their run formations
- 8:14Speaker 2: look like. And I know that we talk about predictability,
- 8:17Speaker 2: but the reality is there are not like five hundred
- 8:20Speaker 2: different kind of runs in the NFL. I mean, you
- 8:23Speaker 2: can motion some guys, you can shift some guys, but
- 8:26Speaker 2: the reality is your run game is your run game,
- 8:29Speaker 2: and so you had everybody studying it, studying tendencies all
- 8:33Speaker 2: off season long. So yeah, that the combination of that,
- 8:36Speaker 2: the combination of defenses seeing you know, they've played some
- 8:39Speaker 2: pretty good defense. It's been a pretty tough schedule this year.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I don't I haven't seen anything. I know there's you
- 8:46Speaker 2: guys are talking about Saquon earlier this year. I mean
- 8:48Speaker 2: earlier in the show. And if you really look at
- 8:51Speaker 2: Saque's entire career, he has been a guy who has
- 8:55Speaker 2: been tremendously reliant on having a bunch of three to
- 8:59Speaker 2: five yards and then four or five just backbreaker explosives.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I don't I think one of your peachy were talking
- 9:07Speaker 2: about his vision as a runner not being there or
- 9:10Speaker 2: somebody saw that on on on film, but I would
- 9:13Speaker 2: that was by.
- 9:13Speaker 1: The way, that was you know, we we do our
- 9:15Speaker 1: segment called one Thought Every Game, where Casey Junior kind
- 9:18Speaker 1: of give us a thought on every game, and he
- 9:20Speaker 1: said the problem he sees with the running game is
- 9:22Speaker 1: that Barkley is not making people miss as much as
- 9:27Speaker 1: he did last year, And is that from the vision
- 9:30Speaker 1: that is he missing stuff or is he just not me?
- 9:33Speaker 1: I don't know, is he not making people miss as much?
- 9:35Speaker 3: Ahead?
- 9:36Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think it's a vision issue per se,
- 9:39Speaker 2: because I would I would argue that Sakon's vision has
- 9:42Speaker 2: never been his strongest asset. It's more about the ability
- 9:46Speaker 2: to wiggle in and out of things. I mean, to
- 9:49Speaker 2: just make that spin move or hurdle or uses athleticism
- 9:53Speaker 2: and then he kicks into a second year better than
- 9:55Speaker 2: probably any running back in the league, like from zero
- 9:58Speaker 2: to sixty right where some guy's kind of like need
- 10:01Speaker 2: a little bit of a build up. So I don't
- 10:03Speaker 2: think that's the issue. I just think he's getting a hit.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I mean, the numbers are the numbers, his yards before
- 10:09Speaker 2: contact are so much lower this year than they were
- 10:14Speaker 2: last year. I mean, he's just getting hit so much faster. Yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 2: And I don't I don't know.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Well, there's a play that I saw.
- 10:21Speaker 2: They just people miss a play that I saw.
- 10:23Speaker 1: That really, I mean, toath just got destroyed and he
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's an inside move and Toad tries to push the
- 10:29Speaker 1: guy to the inside. Well the play is to that
- 10:32Speaker 1: exact spot, and it's like there was not even a
- 10:35Speaker 1: gap to try to make a guy miss.
- 10:37Speaker 2: So they're just really, that was the minus six run,
- 10:40Speaker 2: wasn't it? That was the really bad minus six Yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I don't And it's late in the game.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You can call a playfall on that one. I don't
- 10:46Speaker 2: know how Tope is even supposed to make that block exactly.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's a bad play call for his skill set right
- 10:52Speaker 1: to ask him to do what he has to do
- 10:54Speaker 1: to block that guy. But I'll tell you this, this
- 10:56Speaker 1: was the eye opening thing for me, Mosh late in
- 10:59Speaker 1: that game, right, It's it's you know the game, you're
- 11:02Speaker 1: you're trying to run the game out, and you and
- 11:04Speaker 1: they you're trying to run the ball so that Minnesota
- 11:06Speaker 1: has to use a time out. Well, they run the
- 11:08Speaker 1: ball on first down and they get nothing. So now
- 11:11Speaker 1: it's second down and you're thinking, you almost they threw
- 11:14Speaker 1: the ball to Brown and they.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Have to stop to stop the clock.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But you're thinking, you can't run the ball again because
- 11:19Speaker 1: there's just nowhere to go, and you want to try
- 11:22Speaker 1: to get a first down so that you don't have
- 11:23Speaker 1: to punt the ball back to them, and that kind
- 11:26Speaker 1: of the feeling of watching that is they can't run the.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Ball, like like you're like.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You almost are asking them to throw the ball, even
- 11:33Speaker 1: though you know throwing the ball in that situation is
- 11:35Speaker 1: not what you really want to do.
- 11:38Speaker 2: That's a fair assessment. And they really can't and they're
- 11:40Speaker 2: trying different things. I mean, not only do they throw
- 11:43Speaker 2: the extra offensive lineman on the field and go under center,
- 11:46Speaker 2: but they made Tank Bigsby active. I mean, well they
- 11:49Speaker 2: give him a role in the running game, a small one,
- 11:52Speaker 2: but a role they made aj Dillon inactive. Bigsby had
- 11:56Speaker 2: a nice eleven yard run and then had a second
- 11:59Speaker 2: nice run. But yess that what Milata Holding called it back.
- 12:02Speaker 2: So that shows you right there that there's just a
- 12:06Speaker 2: lot of different things that are not going right with
- 12:08Speaker 2: the Eagles rushing offense.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Yeah, by the way, it was so this was the
- 12:12Speaker 1: last series of the game. They ran the ball for
- 12:14Speaker 1: one yard Barkley up the middle. They was second down
- 12:17Speaker 1: and nine with one forty eight left in the game.
- 12:19Speaker 3: It's second to nine.
- 12:20Speaker 1: You're like, you got to run the ball, but they
- 12:21Speaker 1: can't run the ball. So they threw a quick slant
- 12:24Speaker 1: and it was behind aj Brown, So now the clock stopped.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And then they threw the forty nine yard forty five
- 12:30Speaker 1: yard pass after that, and they end up getting the
- 12:33Speaker 1: first down, but then they get a minus three run, a.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Zero yard run.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know, So trying to close these games out has
- 12:39Speaker 1: been the big difference in a lot of these games.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Well, if you think about their last loss against the Giants,
- 12:45Speaker 2: I mean the crazy juxtaposition of who the Giants and
- 12:48Speaker 2: Eagles are in that game, the Giants got the ball
- 12:50Speaker 2: back right, they had the lead, and they got the
- 12:52Speaker 2: ball back with six something left to play, and the
- 12:55Speaker 2: Eagles never saw the ball again. And it was like, man,
- 12:58Speaker 2: that's used that you should be with the Eagles did.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Now other teams, including the Giants, are doing it to them,
- 13:04Speaker 2: So I listen. I don't want to like, I feel
- 13:07Speaker 2: like we're negatively about a loss. It's good. They're four
- 13:09Speaker 2: and two. They beat the Giants and go into the
- 13:11Speaker 2: bye there five and two, and you say, hey, that's
- 13:13Speaker 2: a pretty good record for really flooded.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, six and.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Two, Yeah, you're right, six and two is a really
- 13:19Speaker 2: good record. And you know, when they did lose to
- 13:22Speaker 2: the Giants, we talked about this the Cowboys lost, the
- 13:25Speaker 2: Commanders lost, Commander's lost a keen this week, right, the
- 13:27Speaker 2: Lions lost two weeks ago. I think that was the
- 13:30Speaker 2: game in Kansas City or City, if I'm not mistaken.
- 13:33Speaker 2: So nobody, really, nobody really took advantage of a very
- 13:38Speaker 2: unusual Eagles two game losing streak.
- 13:41Speaker 1: All right, most let's slip it in the defense here
- 13:43Speaker 1: and get some thoughts on that pass rush yesterday. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: thought that the hit by Carter was huge in that
- 13:50Speaker 1: game because I think after that hit, Wentz was just
- 13:52Speaker 1: did want to know part of anything. He made some
- 13:55Speaker 1: terrible decisions. But the pass rush overall.
- 13:58Speaker 3: In the game yesterday, would you think.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I thought at times it looked good. You know, Ouce
- 14:03Speaker 2: had that big sack in the fourth quarter. I mean really,
- 14:06Speaker 2: Ojoemo had a really good sack in third down. It
- 14:10Speaker 2: seemed like they had their best pass rush in the
- 14:13Speaker 2: in the red zone, which is you know, if you're
- 14:15Speaker 2: gonna have a good pass rush, that's where you want
- 14:17Speaker 2: to have it. Because honestly, the Vikings lost the game
- 14:20Speaker 2: with their inability to score in the red zone. They
- 14:22Speaker 2: were there quite a bit, didn't get as many points
- 14:24Speaker 2: as they wanted. I think the early hit on Carson
- 14:27Speaker 2: Wentz rattled him a little, but I gotta not enough
- 14:30Speaker 2: to like change how he was playing. The guy was
- 14:33Speaker 2: scrambling around the pocket and making you know, Carson Wentz
- 14:36Speaker 2: type plays after that, I think after the second interception
- 14:38Speaker 2: we all follow.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Man.
- 14:39Speaker 2: This could be one of those games a couple of
- 14:41Speaker 2: years ago and against Commanders where he gets sacked nine
- 14:43Speaker 2: times in the fumbles three for that game last year
- 14:46Speaker 2: with the Eagles against the Cowboys. Remember that when he
- 14:48Speaker 2: when he was just awful, but he will hit together.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I mean he made some really good throws in that game.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, no, listen, he was bad.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He was bad that pass.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, when he was bad, he was really bad.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And when he was good, he was like you were like, wow,
- 15:02Speaker 1: there's a little bit left in the tank. But you know,
- 15:04Speaker 1: the rollout throw. The interception to Macouba was horrendous.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Awful, just and especially then I think it wasn't it
- 15:11Speaker 2: like second and seventeen?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yeah? Its second? Like what it was? Second and long?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yeah? What play were you expecting on third day? That's
- 15:19Speaker 2: where you know you're thankful what Jalen hurts for. As
- 15:22Speaker 2: much as he might be criticized, he's never. Not only
- 15:25Speaker 2: does he not put the ball at harms away very
- 15:27Speaker 2: often or even on first second down, but on that play,
- 15:29Speaker 2: they're just gonna run it and park they have the
- 15:31Speaker 2: middle and then punka well.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And that's and that's after he threw the interception that
- 15:36Speaker 1: got returned for the touchdown. He then follows it up
- 15:39Speaker 1: with a it's second and twenty seven at your own nine, right.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Right, So yeah, why are you, mate? Why are you
- 15:47Speaker 2: trying to you know, second and twenty seven you're looking
- 15:49Speaker 2: for You're looking form like the eight to ten yard pass,
- 15:53Speaker 2: so you can cut that distance in half and hopefully
- 15:55Speaker 2: give yourself a third and you know twelve or thirteen
- 15:59Speaker 2: that you might be well to convert. You're not trying
- 16:01Speaker 2: to do that kind of crazy stuff. But that's been
- 16:03Speaker 2: the stuff Carson once has done all throughout his career,
- 16:06Speaker 2: and you know, as he learned from it. Sometimes yes,
- 16:09Speaker 2: sometimes no. But to answer your question, I do think
- 16:11Speaker 2: that the pass rush wasn't great and it wasn't vintage Eagles.
- 16:15Speaker 2: It was just timely right with the Carter Jalen Carter
- 16:18Speaker 2: had played a great game. He had some really nice
- 16:20Speaker 2: pass rushers, some good quarterback hits, and then the Oucha
- 16:23Speaker 2: Sack and Jomo Sack were very good too, But in total,
- 16:27Speaker 2: that fourth quarter was a little nerve racking because there
- 16:30Speaker 2: were times where Carson just had time to make play and.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Did give me your thoughts on Brandon Graham in this
- 16:37Speaker 1: whole thing. I mean, at first when you heard it,
- 16:38Speaker 1: You're like, this can't be real, right, and then it's
- 16:41Speaker 1: been confirmed that yes, they did reach out to him.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I mean, do you see Brandon Graham as a as
- 16:47Speaker 1: a help.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Reach out through him? As a funny term, because the guys,
- 16:52Speaker 2: as I understand it, is basically in the building working
- 16:54Speaker 2: out every day. So if reaching out to him means
- 16:57Speaker 2: how he went downstairs or he went up there, which
- 17:01Speaker 2: you can absolutely see. But look, I mean I'm a
- 17:06Speaker 2: little conflicted on this one man. Having known beg ever
- 17:10Speaker 2: since he was drafted and you know, developed a rapport
- 17:13Speaker 2: with him, I always want the best for him and
- 17:15Speaker 2: I don't want things to happen for be Like, nothing
- 17:19Speaker 2: could take away the two Super Bowls. So even if
- 17:21Speaker 2: he just doesn't do anything and comes back and isn't
- 17:23Speaker 2: a good player, it's not gonna not gonna really right
- 17:26Speaker 2: matter for his legacy. But you know, you remember the
- 17:29Speaker 2: third time round for Jeremiah Trotter, it just it wasn't
- 17:32Speaker 2: a good situation. He didn't play well. I don't think
- 17:34Speaker 2: he got along with the way the coaching was going on,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and it just, you know, it came and went and
- 17:39Speaker 2: it never really did anything. Random's thirty seven years old
- 17:42Speaker 2: and he's just had the same triceps repaired twice. So
- 17:47Speaker 2: I put nothing past his abilities or who he is.
- 17:50Speaker 2: But I father time is undefeated, right, that's the famous expression.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I just don't know what he'll be able to do.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I don't think it's a great solution for what the
- 18:01Speaker 2: Eagles are missing. It's a good body to have, and
- 18:04Speaker 2: he adds to the depth. But if we're really talking
- 18:06Speaker 2: about the Eagles being a fearsome four man rush again,
- 18:10Speaker 2: then they'll probably have to trade for someone if someone's
- 18:14Speaker 2: able to be traded for, or hope that Nolan Smith
- 18:16Speaker 2: just comes back on his hair.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I was wondering, is like, even if
- 18:20Speaker 1: he's like the Brandon Grin like last year, though he
- 18:22Speaker 1: did a good job, I mean he did you know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: he was stout against the run. He sets the edges
- 18:26Speaker 1: pretty good, but this team will against the run. Yesterday
- 18:28Speaker 1: did a pretty good job. They just need pass rush.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Still, Yeah, they do, they do. And you know, let's well,
- 18:36Speaker 2: they did do a good job against a Roun especially,
- 18:38Speaker 2: I thought what they were doing. Yeah, I was gonna
- 18:40Speaker 2: sort of say, hey, look they didn't have Aaron Jones,
- 18:44Speaker 2: and it seems like I know, I've heard the argument
- 18:46Speaker 2: if there was a different quarterback out there, then maybe
- 18:49Speaker 2: the game is different. But I would say, well, who's
- 18:50Speaker 2: the quarterback. Jag McCarthy's out there. I'm not sure that
- 18:55Speaker 2: they're in the Vikings are in a better Spider or
- 18:57Speaker 2: the Eagles lobes, But I mean that's the quarterback for
- 18:59Speaker 2: the Vikings.
- 18:59Speaker 1: As Yeah, what about Dean and Campbell that dynamic?
- 19:04Speaker 3: What do you take away from that?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Well, Campbell, Uh, Dean played. Uh, I didn't. I didn't
- 19:09Speaker 2: see this. I meant to look at the snapjow. I
- 19:11Speaker 2: forgot what it was. I know he had six tackles.
- 19:13Speaker 2: He played a little bit because you were able to
- 19:16Speaker 2: move Campbell to the edge and put Dean in there
- 19:19Speaker 2: because there were thin at edge. And then of course
- 19:22Speaker 2: you know Ojelari getting hurt. So I think that that
- 19:25Speaker 2: created a natural avenue for Nikobe Deane to be able
- 19:28Speaker 2: to get in there, and you know, I had six tackles.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Like I haven't really watched every single defensive snap. I
- 19:33Speaker 2: don't know if anything really stood out by it, but
- 19:35Speaker 2: it was good to see him get back on the defense.
- 19:37Speaker 2: And certainly now Vick has he.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Played thirty one He played thirty one snaps.
- 19:41Speaker 2: That's good. That's on about half the snaps.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I would think, so, well, I guess like with that, like, okay, he's.
- 19:46Speaker 2: That thirty one defensive snaps.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Or thirty one defensive snaps, yes, okay, special teams he.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Played another three.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, But my point is they they you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: they saw what they had in Dean and now maybe
- 20:00Speaker 1: they think they can give him more. Did they see
- 20:02Speaker 1: enough from Campbell? And do we think that Campbell can
- 20:05Speaker 1: be the pass rusher that they're kind of acting because
- 20:07Speaker 1: it has sounded like Vic Fangio has kind of been sisted.
- 20:11Speaker 3: He's not quite ready for that yet.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what, that's a great question that
- 20:16Speaker 2: I'm going to ask Craig Cosel in about fifteen minutes
- 20:20Speaker 2: when we do inside the tape as we do every
- 20:23Speaker 2: week on Inside the Birds, and then the defense version
- 20:26Speaker 2: will be out Wednesday. We're gonna go offense first defense.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But I will get the tape study from him, and
- 20:31Speaker 2: everybody who wants to hear the answer to your question
- 20:34Speaker 2: can get it from a better source than me. On Wednesday.
- 20:37Speaker 1: All right, well, well, of course I have Football at
- 20:39Speaker 1: four all week long, four o'clock right here.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Motion is back on Wednesday's show.
- 20:44Speaker 1: The Eagles win yesterday, and obviously Jalen plays almost a
- 20:48Speaker 1: flaw this game.
- 20:49Speaker 3: He had a perfect passer rating.
- 20:51Speaker 1: They did not run the ball very well, the defense
- 20:53Speaker 1: had some big stops to get the interception return for
- 20:56Speaker 1: a touchdown. And you mentioned Moro Jomo sack late, Josh
- 20:59Speaker 1: Hussey to sack late in the game. So a little
- 21:02Speaker 1: bit of everything in this one as they beat the
- 21:05Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings. Jeff Bocher for Football at Four and check

- 21:13Speaker 3: Thanks moch all right, Mike, Thanks
