- 0:14Hi, Welcome to inside the Mom's Club, where being a mom is the
- 0:17coolest place to be. Here in the Mom's Club, we believe that what
- 0:22embarrasses you now will make a great story later. And let's face it,
- 0:27you don't laugh sometimes you're gonna cry. Join us in having a good laugh
- 0:32together. I'm Monica Samuels. You are now inside the Mom's Club, your
- 0:37private destination for all things mom. Welcome, Moms, Welcome inside the Mom's
- 0:44Club. I'm Monica Samuel with your host, and I'm here with my co
- 0:47host Julie or no. Well, you know I have to be probably start.
- 0:55I have to share something because you know, I'm terribly paranoid. So
- 0:59here's here's what happened to a couple of days ago, and I'm really struggling
- 1:02with it. Okay, my family has a group tell me everything. I
- 1:06will. My family has a group text and my husband put a little sticker
- 1:10on one of the little boxes and ad a sticker. Yeah, he added
- 1:14a sticker. It was of him, this a little huh bit moji thing,
- 1:17you know, smiling or right. So I thought, okay, I
- 1:19want to do that because the kids liked it. So he showed me how
- 1:22to do it. So I thought, I'm gonna do it now. So
- 1:25I started to do it, and I did the right thing, but then
- 1:29my fat finger hit the flag of North Korea. Oh Monica, it appeared
- 1:34in the box. And then I'd been taught by my son, if you
- 1:38hit something again, a little ex will show up. Maybe you can exit
- 1:42up. Yeah, so I had it again, and I hit it again,
- 1:45and then the flag kept getting bigger and bigger, and it's blowing up
- 1:47and it's blowing up, and my son finally said, very interesting choice,
- 1:51mom, And so then I put a bunch of American flags up there because
- 1:56I thought, well, maybe you're trying to redeem yourself or I am.
- 1:59Yeah. I'm always telling my kids, look, be careful what you put
- 2:01in a text, be careful what you put on social media, because somebody
- 2:05is going to come back to haunt you, for sure. And I just
- 2:07feel like that someday when I'm trying to get admitted to the villages in Florida,
- 2:12they're gonna check me out and they're going to look and say, we
- 2:14can let that communist. Yeah, fear Like, how is that? Yeah,
- 2:17how is that going to be a thing? I mean, I don't
- 2:20know how you're going to redeem yourself from that. I mean, your kids
- 2:22are probably trying to wonder what you were trying to say to them, But
- 2:24I told him it was an as I mean to be fair. First of
- 2:29all, why did my fat finger at did the flag of North Korea?
- 2:31I don't even know why? It's you know, yeah, let's do it.
- 2:36I mean, we need a class. I personally feel we need a
- 2:38class on emojis, you know, being able to properly use Instagram. TikTok,
- 2:45I'm quite lost and I feel like a total amateur. But I know
- 2:50it's possible to be able to do this and you know, get the message
- 2:54across. But we know it was a mistake. You didn't mean it.
- 2:57You were trying to be you know, on the record. So I'll have
- 3:00a record here of everybody, Well this is that's what really happened. People
- 3:04want to know what happened. Well, we need someone who knows what they're
- 3:07doing to teach us. Like TikTok, we're a little lost. We try
- 3:12our best, our reels, our sizzle reels. You know, we do
- 3:15good jobs. A mom we need somehow moms who understand social media and really
- 3:21get it. That is why we are so lucky today that we have a
- 3:24real, true expert who's gonna tell us all about Well, she's an expert
- 3:28at many things, for sure, that's what I've seen. She is a
- 3:31native of or not it Well, she's hails currently from Chicago. That's right.
- 3:37She is not your average PTA mom. She was PTA Mom who had
- 3:43a viral video on TikTok, and now she is a queen of comedy,
- 3:47a creator extraordinary, and an Internet sensation with a fan base of over five
- 3:54million followers. Sorry, how many five millillion n followers? That is unbelievable.
- 4:03It's incredibly impressive. Yeah, she's going to be taking her comedy to
- 4:06the streets with her highly anticipated hashtag. I said what I said, tour
- 4:13please Mom's Club. Welcome Peaky Patel, Welcome to the Monks Club. Hello,
- 4:19way free in and did totally good. Welcome to your channel. This
- 4:24is yes, we subbing in for you to say that it's not my joveling.
- 4:29You have to think that, well right right right now, our channel.
- 4:31Welcome Pimpky to our Yeah, so tell us how the how you did
- 4:35that? Like, how is a PTA mom? So you were you were
- 4:40just a regular mom and the PTA. I kind of heard somewhere that you
- 4:43were kind of you were running the PTA, or you had a higher position
- 4:46in the group. I mean, you were a highly respected PTA member and
- 4:50probably probably not respective because but definitely running it because you know, when it's
- 4:57a volunteer job, everybody wants to put their opinion in, but no one
- 5:00wants to help out. And that's all right, because we didn't want the
- 5:04kids to have to suffer because lack of volunteerism. Me and one of my
- 5:11best friends have been doing it for so long. But it was double whammy.
- 5:15It wasn't only PTA, it was also a corporate career woman. It
- 5:18was all the things that I was taught that I needed to be and the
- 5:23parama hit and I was just, just like everybody else, fed up with
- 5:28the situation we were in. You know that thing where if someone tells me
- 5:30I can't do something, then I don't want to do it, even if
- 5:33I never wanted to leave my house anyways in the first place. But as
- 5:35soon as you say don't leave your house, everybody's like, but I need
- 5:39to go outside. It's like, exactly, Joel, You're fine. I
- 5:45think we never realized, yeah that we love staying home. And then everyone's
- 5:47like, I need to leave. No you don't, Yeah, yeah,
- 5:49you actually don't, you know. And so it was just the frustration of
- 5:53the situation. And I like to I like to describe it as I'm an
- 5:58equal opportunity Deully Shamer. And so if you were doing something that you probably
- 6:04shouldn't be posting online, like you should have thought twice before you said yes,
- 6:08post the lot of clicks before you post. Nobody accidentally posts anything.
- 6:13Oh I liked it that except ver Monica. My wait, I do I
- 6:18really did? Maybe not you wah. So I tuned the following and you
- 6:23see that they have like upwards to a higher following count, right, see
- 6:29that everything they post is on purpose, and so it's like, come on
- 6:31now, okay, So were you an expert pinky, Like, were you
- 6:34an expert? Like when you first did it and you posted something, were
- 6:38you like, this is no idea what I was doing? Oh I love
- 6:41that. Yeah I didn't. I wasn't on social but I started my Instagram
- 6:45account in twenty twenty and it was because of TikTok. So I never had
- 6:51an Instagram before that. I was on Facebook, but I only had Facebook
- 6:56because I was posting pictures of my roommates for my mom, who lives in
- 6:59Connecticut. It because I didn't want to snail mail pictures to her and have
- 7:01them get ruined. But I was always a mom behind the camera because I
- 7:04was never comfortable with how I looked. I was never comfortable with how I
- 7:09sounded because I've had way too many people, family friends, et cetera,
- 7:14tell me that I have a very deep voice for a girl, and I
- 7:16have I don't look like a truth like I'm not pretty enough for my skin's
- 7:20not light enough, or just just yeah, and you know bs that you
- 7:26here all the time. And then I hit forty, which is the same
- 7:30year that the panorama hit, and I was I realized, if if you're
- 7:34not doing a few things and benefiting me in my life, then bye,
- 7:40I'm not gonna care about you. So you cleaned house basically, you know,
- 7:44yeah, in a different kind of way. I went through my I
- 7:46went through my Facebook account as colvid like as we were all figuring out about
- 7:50COVID, like you know, they told us to stay home on March thirteenth
- 7:53and twenty twenty. And then because I was bored with work. Like working
- 7:57from home, you get your work done so much faster than when you're in
- 8:01the office because no one's harassing you, right, no one's talking you over
- 8:03the wall, no one's coming to have a chit chat with you because they're
- 8:05bored. They don't realize you have like a buttload of stuff to do and
- 8:09you don't have time to chit chat. Like, go get your coffee and
- 8:11sit down, Rachel, It's fine, okay, And I remember this well.
- 8:16Yeah, and I went through my Facebook and I just cut people out.
- 8:20Yeah, I was, I, you know, December, in twenty
- 8:24nineteen. December, I started posting more on Facebook and I would post random
- 8:30thoughts of the day because I always my friends always laughed at these random things.
- 8:33I would tell them and they're like, you should post these, these
- 8:35are funny. I was like, okay, fine, And then COVID hit
- 8:39clean house. I said, who doesn't like my videos or who didn't like
- 8:43my comments? Not even a simple double tap, which we all know is
- 8:46mindless, and do it all day every day while we're doing scrolling. Okay
- 8:50scrolling, I mean, and so I know that a double tap is the
- 8:54middleum you could do. But they didn't want to do it, so I
- 8:56was like un friend I know and s friend. So you cut all those
- 9:01people out of your life. I'm out of your Facebook. And now you've
- 9:05accepted five million people to follow you didn'ty of you heard those people? Yeah,
- 9:11that's your friends, I know. But your friends that they ever come
- 9:13back and said, well you're okay with five million people, but you cut
- 9:16me out? Did they or did they ever apologize and say, really,
- 9:20I really did think you were amazing. I can guarantee you the people that
- 9:24I cut out like these were people. And we all do this. We
- 9:26all do this. We could all deny it, but we all do.
- 9:30We're human beings. These are people that we went to high school with and
- 9:33we want to see where they are now because they were was in high school
- 9:37or whatever, and we want to see them not succeed now. So we
- 9:39want to see what need become. Now. This is ultimate payment. Like
- 9:43my people believe in karma and this is karma like and is I think?
- 9:48And that was on my personal Facebook page right the way private personal I had
- 9:52to accept you for you to see pictures of my kids. But then when
- 9:56I went public, like my Instagram is all public I've posted pictures of my
- 10:01kids once in a while, but not too much. And then I create
- 10:05a private like Facebook page or public Facebook page off like stem stemming off of
- 10:11my private So all these people come back and they ask for my private entrance.
- 10:13They're like, I want to be friends with you on your private page,
- 10:16and I'm like, oh my rest a guy lost and all. I
- 10:20don't know what's happening, but I mean, I think the coolest thing is
- 10:24pinky that. So a lot of most of our watchers are moms, and
- 10:28I think it takes a lot of courage to do what you're doing. And
- 10:31like, I would love to know how you looked like fear in the face
- 10:35and said I'm going to go do this. What finally kicked you over to
- 10:39edge to take a chance? I mean, that's a big deal. That's
- 10:43a that's a really good question. The thing that made me go even further
- 10:50just kind of think about this when we were talking, you guys are asking
- 10:52me where am I am? I whole? Am I in my glam cave
- 10:56whatever we want to call it? Right right? A lot of people they
- 11:00call it my mom cave. And it drives me crazy because and this is
- 11:07one of the main reasons why I never out of the gate used hashtag mom
- 11:11or this is why I insist on calling my family members my kids. Anybody
- 11:15who lives and breathes under this roof with me, my roommates, is because
- 11:18once people find out that you are a mother, you are no longer allowed
- 11:24to be anything else. You are no longer allowed to have your own identity,
- 11:26So you are no longer allowed to have your own interests and your own
- 11:30hobbies and your own like mental state, like you have to be so children
- 11:37centric. It's all about the kids. It's all about self sacrifice. It's
- 11:39all about things that we can do to make other people's lives easier and better.
- 11:45And when I got on social media, I was like, eh,
- 11:48yeahff no, this is me. I am doing this, I am making
- 11:52these videos, I'm roasting these people, I'm putting these I'm dummy, shaming
- 11:56these idiots and putting them in their place because they're parents aren't around to do
- 12:01it for them. And it's it's what I would one hundred percent say to
- 12:05my children, and I've said it to my my seventeen year old roommate number
- 12:07two. He as soon as I heard him start swearing playing video games in
- 12:13the basement. I was like, gay bame, Like, I can talk
- 12:16to you like how I would talk to one of my good friends, Like
- 12:20I can be honest with you, I can be blunt with you. And
- 12:24if you're like that's the type of person I am, like, I'm not
- 12:28what you think of when you think of a mother. I'm not the squishy,
- 12:31lovable Let's let's have our children climb all over. So I like the
- 12:35I've said to my children numerous times when they were younger. I'm like,
- 12:37mommy is out a jungle gym. I can play with you, but not
- 12:41right now. And I can relate to that. Yeah, but like family
- 12:45members would hear that or friends would either they're like, oh my god,
- 12:48but you're a mother. Else post let them climb all over. I'm like,
- 12:52no, my body is mine. It's like their body is theirs,
- 12:54right, Like we have all these rules for don't talk to don't talk to
- 12:58a little girls in a negative way because that will ruin their self esteem.
- 13:03Don't tell little girls what you can and can eat, don't tell little girls
- 13:05what they can and can't wear. Why are we doing it to ourselves?
- 13:09They're allowed, I mean great to respectfully do what you want to do.
- 13:13As long as you're out hurting yourself for other people, you can't lase your
- 13:18complete identity. And I think the pivot is strong, and so that's why
- 13:20I bring up courage to do it. I also feel like you say a
- 13:24lot of things when you're talking about dummy shaming, you say a lot of
- 13:26things that a lot of us are thinking, especially when it relates to our
- 13:30our roommates or our friend's roommate. Like I pretty much say what I'm thinking,
- 13:35but yes, these days it's hard to talk to them. It's like
- 13:39you're afraid to say the wrong thing. And I know with my kids.
- 13:41With one of my children, every once in a while, he'd threaten to
- 13:45call CPS because I said something that he found, you know, like I
- 13:48said, look, no word. He for sure try, but he needs
- 13:52to have proof of what is actual going on exactly well exactly, But I
- 13:56told him, you you go right and call and they'll be on my side.
- 13:58But these days I'm not even sure they would be on my side because
- 14:01maybe I use the wrong word or whatever. I mean, you have to
- 14:03be careful and but you call that out and you call out some of the
- 14:07things, which is what I appreciate. And your humor is you know,
- 14:09you're not afraid to say things now you will go ahead. I mean the
- 14:13thing is like they you know, we're we're all on social media. Yeah,
- 14:16it's no matter how old you are. Think of all the the TikTok
- 14:20grandmas that are out there, and the TikTok grandpas that we love that we
- 14:22go to to see constantly, or like the TikTok dogs you know, Tucker
- 14:28and whatever that we go to because we don't have a dog like that,
- 14:31Like these are people that we go to. So so so social media is
- 14:35for everybody. Now, It's not just for you know, the zoomers and
- 14:37the alphonauts and anybody who's younger than us and all that bs. It's it's
- 14:41for everybody and anybody. And so my thing is you don't want to be
- 14:46judged zoomers and alphaats, So then why are you judging us? Right?
- 14:50Right? Anniels and gen zers and boomers and granted there's there's there's pluses and
- 14:56minuses of every generation, right, Like I'm gonna say one generation is superior
- 15:00another, but you're saying you want us to make sure that we're we're being
- 15:03inclusive of everybody and accepting of everybody, whatever size they are, whatever disability
- 15:09they have, whatever. But then they're okay pooping on us because we told
- 15:13them they had to go clean their room. It's like, no, are
- 15:16you hid? Like you your room is king right now? Like it's infiltrating
- 15:20my nose that I'm in my own bedroom, Like, go clean that.
- 15:22See, I greciate this. You're at this point. Yeah, I know
- 15:26that you do, because I heard a conversation this morning you had with a
- 15:28certain roommate that ya listen, when we prep for a show, there's a
- 15:31lot of realness going on. I'm like sometimes I'm like Monica closeure years.
- 15:35I know this is not how you would do it or handle it, but
- 15:39I have a lot to say about her tardiness to school and dynegi oh my
- 15:43god, Julie, don't even give me sa tardiness to school? Pinky oh,
- 15:48have no idea out. I don't do it anymore. I I stopped.
- 15:52I was like, why am I getting up an hour early than I
- 15:54grabbed to to wake you up? Because you're being mister lazy pants and you
- 15:58can't get your ish together going in college next year. A mom's I gonna
- 16:02call you, Dad's I gotta call you? Yeah, that's I'm right here,
- 16:04Like, and that's not the word I used missus lazy pants this morning.
- 16:08That so anyway, But I think that you've been thrust into the limelight,
- 16:12Pinky, and I've seen a lot of your stuff, and I know
- 16:15that can be intimidating or you know, just stressful. Do you have a
- 16:21hard time trusting new people? Do you have a hard time like saying who
- 16:25wants to be your new friend? Who wants to be your real friend?
- 16:26Or that, like just the genuine you know. I mean it's really hard
- 16:30to have somebody that you can trust, which you can say what you want,
- 16:33you know what won't be repeated. I mean, where are you with
- 16:37that in your life right now? I mean this has only been a little
- 16:38less than four years, and so much in your world has changed. You're
- 16:42not working in a corporate place anymore. You're doing this and you're traveling,
- 16:48Like, who can you trust? I am? I don't know if it's
- 16:52a cultural thing or or what. Book right, I've always been very hard
- 16:57on trusting new people, just because I've gotten way too burned, way too
- 17:02quickly, way too fast by trusting you people, and so definitely learned my
- 17:06lesson. Yeah, it takes a long time for me to get Like what
- 17:11you see on social media is me pretending that we are in my backyard and
- 17:15we're having ladies' night and we're just it's all a bunch of people that I
- 17:18know. That's me pretending, because otherwise I would never be able to do
- 17:22that, right, Like, but if I met like I when I get
- 17:25recognized in the wild, sometimes it is yeah, sorry, I was funny.
- 17:30Sorry. Sometimes it scares me because like like they're so excited to see
- 17:37me, and and I'm one hundred percent sure it's because they just saw a
- 17:40video of me a wait in the airport security, so it's fresh in their
- 17:42mind. Like, if they saw the video of me last night, they're
- 17:45probably not gonna remember the next day at the airport because there's so much that
- 17:48happened between them and those two time periods. But if they just saw me
- 17:52and now I'm in front of them, they get really like enthusiastic. Yeah,
- 17:56and sometimes to the point where they get really close to my face and
- 17:59I'm just like, hey, I like the two feet ar I'm flying like
- 18:03it's not COVID distance, but it's pinky distance. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:07I will talk to you. I will, you know, because I
- 18:11I know like if I if it wasn't for my followers, I wouldn't be
- 18:14able to have this life that I do now, right, Like I actually
- 18:18enjoy doing stand up comedy, like I love going to all these cities and
- 18:21making people laugh, like I mean, I mean, I've traveled so much
- 18:25in the past two years or yeah, two three years that I've been doing
- 18:29these two tours then in my whole entire life, and I moved here from
- 18:32India. Yeah, so it's like so much traveling, getting to see so
- 18:36many different people. It is very scary. However, I have I have
- 18:41a good support system at home and that my friends that I call them my
- 18:45bs, my before social media friends so bsm BSM yeah before social media,
- 18:52but there was before social media friends. And they, you know, they
- 18:56they ground me when I need it, and they when I'm home, they'll
- 19:00be like, hey, are you free, Like right now, after this,
- 19:03I'm heading to a PTA meeting and then going down like downtown and they
- 19:07know that. I mean, so you're still part of the PTA. I
- 19:11am. I am this is my last year. A couple more weeks left.
- 19:14Yeah, and I'm done because I don't. I tried middle school and
- 19:17dinner. I was like, what is this garbage? And then entering high
- 19:18school, I was like, what is this? Yeah, aliens have taken
- 19:22over bodies? Yeah, did you find you were making new friends within the
- 19:25PTA, Like oh I never gave Pinky the time of day, but now
- 19:29Pinky is have you found Oh no that yeah? No, my seasoned friends
- 19:34that I've made from PTA before all this started, right. They they come
- 19:37in like when we if we're out in town and we go to dinner,
- 19:41like let's say Ladies Night night or something, and one of them here is
- 19:45like or one of them sees other like restaurant goers start like doing the meerkat
- 19:52thing, you know, like popping up. You're like, oh no.
- 19:55They they immediately they will get into protective mode and they will about like forming
- 20:00a circle around like there's so good. I don't have to worry about anything.
- 20:04And even when I travel, my assistant is amazing, Like she's i'd
- 20:08say, the bad guy. She has high sleep pulled me away from meet
- 20:11and greets because people just want to talk. They want to like you know,
- 20:15and I definitely appreciate it, but there's only so much time I can
- 20:18give sir the line before the staff want to go home. You know.
- 20:22It's yeah, sureing to balance all that. So so for your family,
- 20:26like when we started doing Inside the Mom's Club, we thought, oh,
- 20:29our kids aren't watching, so we would talk about our dad every once in
- 20:32a while. And then one of their attorneys sent us a cease's assist letter
- 20:34and so we're like, well, A can't do that anymore. So what
- 20:37do you do? You ever say anything about your kids? I mean,
- 20:41if you keep that separate or just kind of you're in their roommate number two
- 20:44and three, and I guess you even have a dog that's one of the
- 20:47roommates, so you yeah, yeah, I'm not chosen before the dog is
- 20:51number four? Not show Yeah he No. I try to not bring anything
- 20:57regarding the kids into my social media unless it's the only time I really do
- 21:03it is my younger son loves this for us. He thinks it's an US
- 21:06journey and I'm like, Bobby did this on her own, so what thank
- 21:11you? But what he wants to be in videos, I make him like
- 21:15wear sunglasses and a mask. Yeah, and I know it's overkill, but
- 21:18you hear too many stories about creastures online and I don't want Yeah to have
- 21:22associated with him, my older son. If I do post pictures of them,
- 21:26I will put it on my stories Instagram stories because it goes away after
- 21:30twenty four hours. Yeah, and so you know, I feel a little
- 21:33bit dad, and I feel a little bit more comfortable doing that. If
- 21:37I do post them, it's really a quick like family picture something with stickers
- 21:41on their face on my Instagram, so you can't quite tell. Yeah,
- 21:45yeah, well I love the protection mode. I really do. Glad you
- 21:48know how to make the stickers because mine, mine wouldn't burn my children's lives
- 21:52and suddenly they wouldn't be yeah North Korey and whatever. No, But like
- 21:56I mean, when I post, and I didn't know that my remain number
- 22:00two, my seven, he's a senior in high school about to finish,
- 22:03and I didn't know that his friends also follow me. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 22:07I didn't know that until he had them come over last June or May
- 22:11or something at that of school year and they did a bonfire and I come
- 22:15out home after being out at Ladies' night. So definitely had a lot of
- 22:18green juice. You get right, and so you yeah, you like the
- 22:23Gordon as well, and so they got to know you really well. Yeah.
- 22:29So maybe I was like, what, like I light the hands,
- 22:33like making myself big as if I'm attacked by a bear or something like oh
- 22:37here I am, Yeah, and one a little like freaks out one of
- 22:40his friends like literally freaks out and he is hyperventilating it. I'm like,
- 22:45oh my god, do you need an like? And then I have to
- 22:47go into mom mode right away. I was like, dude, you like
- 22:48yield my bottles? Man? I was coasting. I was coasting so nice,
- 22:52and then you piper ventilated? What is wrong with you? You made
- 22:56my mom had on and I was having fun and like yeah, going a
- 23:02different direction, he just hes just like he's like fangirly right now. It
- 23:07was a great kiddy, Well boy, why is he fangirly? W I
- 23:11have forty old woman fangirl over me that I can handle. Okay, I
- 23:15can handle like I can't handle this. Well, wait till they go to
- 23:18college if that's what he's gonna do, because then you got another whole thing
- 23:22of how how that they want to be friends with you on Instagram. They
- 23:25want to be like, yeah, it's it's got some followers of our sure
- 23:30sure do, we sure do Yeah. And they all want to be in
- 23:33the pictures and the videos and they want to be part of the whole thing.
- 23:37Well. One of the things that I love though, in all of
- 23:38your videos, you also to do some kind of empowering videos like yeah,
- 23:41you'll have some fan little say you know, my mother I saw one the
- 23:45other day. My mother hated this dress and thought I looked hideous, and
- 23:48you like, let the mother have it. Yeah, but but but rostnity
- 23:53that so for her? Yeah, to bring her up, so to help
- 23:56her, so help So what do you do if you really is a hideous
- 24:00dress? I mean, I have girls, so sometimes they pick out dresses
- 24:03and I was like, oh, heck no, that's not happening, July,
- 24:06No, no, d I mean it, Julie. Oh, it
- 24:08makes them feel good, Julie, listen, listen, okay, listen,
- 24:12don't make me dumby shamee you don't ye right now? Okay, Yeah,
- 24:17And it makes them feel good and it's clean and there's no holes on it,
- 24:21or it's that doesn't look like it's been eaten by bugs. You let
- 24:23him wear because it will rock their confidence so hot? Do you know how
- 24:26many Hawaiian shirts roommate number two has worn to school? And I'm like,
- 24:30what what is wrong with you? Yeah, but you don't have your roommate
- 24:34being like shorter or tighter, Yeah, like her shorts copperwise, you have
- 24:41to make her care so right, you're so right where you go? See,
- 24:44all right, all right, I'm glad of that. Glad you didn't
- 24:45have to be dummy shamed here on your own show. Oh I wanted to
- 24:48do that, So I get what you're saying. It's really forward as a
- 24:52parent, as a mom, because I mean, I have all boys,
- 24:56so right, it's different. However, they still have confidence issues like we
- 25:00always we don't think of that when we think of we're always like, oh
- 25:03my daughter has confidence issues. But no, boys also have to be taught
- 25:07the same things as worlds need to be taught. It's not a gender thing.
- 25:11They need to be talk confidence. They need to be taught to esteem.
- 25:14How then we leaders right, they need to just we just need to
- 25:17encourage them and motivate them. And as long as they're not hurting themselves or
- 25:21hurting other people and you know as well as my eyeballs. Let's conquer went
- 25:26right, right? I mean I think that's really really good advice for all
- 25:29of us moms because sometimes we really need to hear it from other people,
- 25:33like how do we build our kid up? How do we give them confidence?
- 25:36And you know, that's what I was talking about, was like where
- 25:38did you get the confidence? And so your message message is super strong.
- 25:42But I mean before we go to zoomer moms, I want some of our
- 25:47audience to get to know you a little bit. So I have a couple
- 25:49questions for you. Let's go ready you ready? Kayso? Or goat cheese?
- 25:56Wa? What was it? Kay? So? Now keep in mind
- 25:59I'm from Texas keeso or goat cheese? Okay? So all the way awesome
- 26:03podcasting or a Netflix series? Who's doing all the work? I don't know?
- 26:11This is rapid fire, pinky come on, no, no, no,
- 26:12no no, I because I have a podcast as well with my friend
- 26:15and roll Out in Indian centric Elas and so and so do we So yeah,
- 26:22that's ahead. But like I you know, I'm I do all the
- 26:25editing, so be on a Netflix series and I just get to like show
- 26:30up say my lines in peace out than that? Okay, However, I
- 26:33like the talking aspect of podcasts. Okay, now listen, I think you
- 26:37just put out your next adventure out online Netflix series, and then my last
- 26:42one kindergarten teacher or college professor, go your garden teacher? WHOA all right?
- 26:48You do know they need help with the bathroom, right? Yeah?
- 26:51Okay? Just what would I be? What would I support? No,
- 26:56no, no, no, it wasn't support. What would you rather be?
- 26:59A kindergarten teacher or a college professor? College professor at all? See?
- 27:03I thought you might take that back? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:06your appreciation. So I thought you were like, oh yeah, kuntergarten
- 27:10teacher, you're in pta. No, we're in Pinky mode. Like what
- 27:14do you want to be? Would you rather be there you go pay?
- 27:18Yeah? Or high school health teacher? Can you imagine? Oh now,
- 27:19oh wow, No, I would never take that job. I would get
- 27:22fire. Oh totally. We have some moms here who want to ask you
- 27:26some questions themselves, So let's welcome our zoomer moms. Welcomed in. Okay,
- 27:38ladies, we're here with Pinky today, and I'm just gonna go around
- 27:42and introduce each one of you and you can ask Pinky a question. I'll
- 27:45start with Linda, Welcome to the Mom's Club. Do you have a question
- 27:49for Pinky? Hi? What a great show and it's really great to learn
- 27:53more about you. And I see you're on tour and I can't wait to
- 27:56see you. But tell me more about what it's like to be out on
- 28:02tour as a mom with roommates at home. What is it like to be
- 28:06out on tour? Good question. There's a lot of prep work that happens
- 28:11on the days that I'm home. So the first year I was probably home,
- 28:17I would be gone six weekends in a row, and then I would
- 28:19be home for maybe one or two weekends and then out again. But the
- 28:23thing is I didn't stay continuously traveling. I would leave the day before a
- 28:27show and then come back the day after a show. So I would always
- 28:32come home. Sometimes I'm home for twenty four hours, sometimes I'm home for
- 28:36three days. And so it was always kind of juggling of what's most important
- 28:41right now? What does Dad need help with so that he doesn't have to
- 28:45go and do something like groceries or laundry or little things like that, right,
- 28:49because we can think like that, like as moms, as the ones
- 28:53that have always had to take care of making sure the fridge and pantry is
- 28:56full, making sure there's clean clothes, so that no one's screaming that they
- 29:00don't have their favorite T shirt for Wackey Wednesdays on the end. So Dad
- 29:04can't handle that, Like Dad is not He's not really good under like rapid
- 29:08fire pressure like that. He's more of an Internet processor. I'm like a
- 29:11Safari things like that. And so I had to make sure that I had
- 29:18a lot of food prep, which I started posting when I'm doing food prep
- 29:22so people can see what my daily life looks like. I don't know if
- 29:23anybody's interested, but they told me to do it. Yeah, I started
- 29:26doing it. But it's a lot of prep. It's a lot of making
- 29:30sure the Google calendar is updated and color corded correctly based on the calendar of
- 29:34the fridge. Oh boy, that no one is miscommunication miscommunicating with anybody else
- 29:41a lot of organization. Do we do it well? Absolutely not, Because
- 29:45there have been numerous times where I've forgotten to have a backup bag of chicken
- 29:48Tendy's in the basement freezer. But it is what it is like There's only
- 29:52so much I can do because I'm only human, right, and so yeah,
- 29:56we do the best we can. I'm impressed with everything. Your address.
- 30:00Yeah, that's like you're a mom. It's like, I got it.
- 30:03I get it. Today I woke up and I had a multiple lot
- 30:07of crises hint to handle from home. So yeah, yeah, uh,
- 30:11Janine, tell us a little bit about yourself, and you have a question
- 30:15for peaking. Hi, it's a pleasure to be here. I am Janine,
- 30:18and I live in Austin, Texas, and I'm the mother of a
- 30:22thirty three year old thirty three year old daughter, and I have a question
- 30:27from maybe your mother's perspective when you were growing up. I'm interested in knowing
- 30:34what life was like having someone with your personality in the home and duptail that
- 30:41in with what it was like for your family and for you as a student
- 30:47as a young person. What was it like being the one with the humor
- 30:52in the classroom? How was that? It's funny that you asked that,
- 30:56because when I do these like interviews and podcasts, that's one of the questions
- 31:03is have you always been like this and I've only been like this, like
- 31:07how I am on social media and how I am in my comedy tour with
- 31:11really close friends. So like you had to really like I had to get
- 31:14to know you for a long time and make sure that you can handle my
- 31:18dark humor. And I would throw things out once in a while just to
- 31:21see how it was received. And so growing up being South Indian, South
- 31:26Asian, it was it was very difficult because I could only let it out
- 31:30with my close friends. I couldn't really let it out with my mom or
- 31:34even people in the community unless they were my close friends, unless the two,
- 31:38like you know, crossed over. And just because of the fact that
- 31:41I'm sarcastic, I like to swear, I like to talk about dark humor,
- 31:47like you know, I'm all about like vampires and were wolves, you
- 31:49know, things like that, like things that you don't think a good Indian
- 31:53girl should be into. And it's like that's just you put me in front
- 31:57of the TV and that's what I can still that's what happens, you know,
- 32:00we are like you can't let me watch Bluffy the Vampire Slayer, not
- 32:04I think that's not gonna affect me somehow, you know, right, right,
- 32:07So this this has been like you know, a lot of men when
- 32:12they go through midlife crisis, they like because they like, you know,
- 32:15their whole style changes and they think they're becoming like twenty year old men or
- 32:20something and they're slicking their hair back. Yeah, down right, yeah,
- 32:22yeah, Like this is my second coming, if you will, Like,
- 32:25I'm now able to be myself with everybody, regardless of who you are.
- 32:30Like I had to tamper it down for my Indian community. I had to
- 32:35tamplate down for you know, school, I had to tamper it down for
- 32:38college. I had to tamper it down for my husband's family that I moved
- 32:43in with, you know, like the other aspect of being Indian. I
- 32:46had to tamper it down for corporate because you can't have a sense of humor
- 32:50if you're in corporate, otherwise you're not taking it seriously. It's like no,
- 32:53actually, we're probably people trust us more because we're more approachable than the
- 32:58manager, you know. Sure, So this is me being able to just
- 33:02be myself now. And is it sad that I had to hit forty to
- 33:07be able to be myself? Yeah? But better late than ever, because
- 33:09I don't think I'm dying at eighty, so I still got a long way
- 33:13to go. But that leads to me. I know, we're in the
- 33:15middle of asking zoomer mom questions, but people are gonna want to know,
- 33:19like where do your parents stand today? What did they think? You know
- 33:22what I mean, because like culturally, like you're not a lawyer, you're
- 33:27not a doctor, you're not an engineer, So like, where do we
- 33:29think? What are they saying? Now, I've even seen you impersonate them,
- 33:32Yeah, on your they well, my dad is no longer with us,
- 33:38but my mom. You know, that was one of the things that
- 33:40I was worried about when I started this, because I didn't want my videos
- 33:45to get on her radar because a she wouldn't understand it. English is a
- 33:49second language. And but the thing is, all the Indian aunties in town
- 33:52would tell her of all my videos and be like, oh my god,
- 33:55Binko's video, It's so funny, you have to see it. And she
- 33:59didn't have so from media, so she would then when she came to visit
- 34:01me, which she comes to visit once a year, and I go there
- 34:04to visit once a year, She's like asking me to download Facebook and Instagram
- 34:08and tech. I was like, no, I know me. I you
- 34:12know, you were the last person that should be on social media right now.
- 34:15Okay, So but she's like, but I really want to see your
- 34:17video. So I logged her into TikTok. I'm the only person that she
- 34:22followed. Like, I like her being on TikTok is as if my eleven
- 34:27year old room and number three would have been on TikTok like parental controls and
- 34:30everything now. But like that was a big mistake because then she thought that
- 34:37she had a vested interest in this. And so she tells me all that
- 34:39She's like, pink that crown was not good to put in your head that
- 34:44wall, and You're like, this is exactly why I didn't want you to
- 34:47get on and follow me, right yeah. And then when she saw like
- 34:52you know, she wanted to see my show obviously, yeah, the comedy
- 34:54the first tour, and I was like, mom, I talk about sex,
- 34:58I talk about that, Okay, Like I'm so done with having subjects
- 35:01that are taboo, Like why are they taboo? Because they make you more
- 35:05comfortable. We'll get over it. Unclench your booty bawl and let's move on.
- 35:07I was like, it's not a big deal. We have to talk
- 35:10about it because if we don't talk about these subjects, then we're never gonna
- 35:15feel comfortable. But you know, figuring out could it be better? Can
- 35:17it not? Like? And we all want to have a good experience in
- 35:21life, whatever it is, right, And so she was like, bing,
- 35:24it's okay, it does not matter if I don't understand. If everybody
- 35:28else did that ping, then I would laugh. That's a great fake laugh
- 35:32lom thing. All right, So she's seen your show, is what you're
- 35:35saying. Do you have seen both of the excellent? Excellent? Well,
- 35:39Lisa, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little bit about yourself,
- 35:43and you have a question for Pinky. Hi. Yes, my name
- 35:46is Lisa and I live in Dallas, Texas. Pinky, I think you're
- 35:50hilarious, super super funny. So I'm really curious about historically, how did
- 35:58you get started? Did you did you know you were funny? You talked
- 36:00about kind of holding back a little bit, and how did you parlay this?
- 36:06Is it the fact that one of your videos went viral? And where
- 36:09are you going? I would like to see you want to sit Have I
- 36:16okay, you asked three questions. I'm sorry, but the first one,
- 36:22have I what was? I'm sorry, You're gonna have to say the first
- 36:24part again? Which one was the first question? Son? How did you
- 36:29parlay into where you are now? How did you? How did you get
- 36:32started? I heard you talk about your first video that went viral? Where
- 36:36how did that happen? Where did it go? Well? I just it
- 36:40was it was kind of like I said, it was me just letting out
- 36:44my frustrations with the cameboy turned on and then I had stitched this one guy
- 36:47who was like, why do women run to the restroom after doing and and
- 36:52I was I was mad. I was mad and he was in the right
- 36:57place at the right wrong tide, like we're so mad about that question?
- 37:01I was like are you? And I had to, like I just hamper
- 37:05my anger down. I was like, are you f in kidding me that
- 37:07you're asking them? And I knew why he was doing it. He was
- 37:09doing it for the view. So I was like, I'll neve you the
- 37:12views. And I said, what our truth is? Right, like what
- 37:14we have to go through and it's it's not like it's not like other things
- 37:19that you see online. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, we're not
- 37:22the cop. Let's just it's not like you get what I'm saying, Lisa
- 37:28late, Lisa got it. Yes, So it's and it's not. And
- 37:31the thing is, but that's where all these boys learned everything, right,
- 37:36they learned from each other, and they learned from from that. And then
- 37:39it's like, no, this is you're doing with a real life human being
- 37:42here, not an actress, not somebody who was paid to do this,
- 37:45like and so I just I let him have it. I dummy, shamed
- 37:49the f out of him. And then that way crazy because so many women
- 37:52were like, yes, girl, yes, yet like they were so excited
- 37:55because like Monica's I was, I speak, yeah the truth everybody's thinking,
- 38:00but they just they're too scared to say it. And I'm like, what
- 38:02have I got to lose? I'm doing it just social media. I have
- 38:05never seen these people. I didn't know who was following me, who wasn't
- 38:08because I, in hindsight, which is twenty twenty, I'm swarted enough not
- 38:14to start social media with my legal name, I use it. I started
- 38:17with my nickname that everybody has called me my whole entire life, and so
- 38:22I was kind of flying under the radar. You know, I could say
- 38:24the things I wanted to. I never talked about work, so they can't
- 38:28yell at me. I never wore work merch, so they can't fire me.
- 38:30Right. I was dotting my eyes, crossing my teeth, and I
- 38:34was just let like I was just letting those yeah yeah. In my cave,
- 38:38were no no audiences. And then somebody reached out and they were like,
- 38:44oh, I think this translates well to stand up comedy. And I
- 38:46was like, what hold on again, frog people? No, No,
- 38:51I get nervous diarrhea. I can't do that, okay, And then no,
- 38:54I think you'd be good. So I was like, okay, like
- 38:57how many minutes are we talking? Five ten minutes? Like I can ramble
- 39:00for five to ten minutes. So if you laugh, you laugh, if
- 39:01you don't, whatever, I have nothing to lose. I didn't see her
- 39:04face. And then she's like, no, no, I think you've been
- 39:07headlining tour. You can tour. You could do a tour. And I
- 39:08was like, what's gonna buy? Says that's crazy cow, and so well
- 39:15they kind of now, oh, there you go. I'm incentive to be
- 39:17myself and so I don't have to. I might be quiet if I can't
- 39:22be myself, but I'm not going to be somebody else anyway. And love
- 39:24that and look at look at you now, Leslie welcome. Tell us a
- 39:30little bit about yourself and do you have a quick question for Peaky Oh yeah,
- 39:34Leslie Harrell. I'm in Austin, Texas, and I have two kids
- 39:37and have a senior at University of Texas graduating and a freshman in college.
- 39:42I think Mike Kristen would be primarily like in a comedic world. I saw
- 39:49something from Jerry Seinfeld the other day about just how he's like, it's hard
- 39:52to be funny anymore because there's so many boundaries to what you can say.
- 39:58And you claim that you you know, you're you can just kind of say
- 40:00what you want, do what you want, but you know, do you
- 40:05feel that pressure of kind of like there's so much stuff that's still kind of
- 40:07on you know, that's so sort of stuff you can't say, or do
- 40:12you really feel like truly, you know, truly, truly that you really
- 40:15have full license to say kind of whatever you feel and how much backlass do
- 40:21you get if any I mean, I feel like for me, I'm always
- 40:25talking about my own experiences and my own world, like I'm not latching onto
- 40:31other people's experiences, and so I feel like, as long as you're talking
- 40:37about your own stuff, it's okay. You could say what you want to.
- 40:40You can have your own opinions and your own outlook on your own life.
- 40:45The the reason he says that is because old school stand up comedians are
- 40:49used to like saying our word, you know, they're used to like all
- 40:52of these things where or making fun of gay people like they're used to doing
- 40:57these things. They're used to roast he we're yeah stage and calling a stand
- 41:01up comedy. I was like, there's being a stained and saying mean things,
- 41:05and it's like, you don't, bro, you don't have to always
- 41:07be mean like. You can be funny in an ironic way, but you
- 41:09don't always have to be mean like. And a lot of the times those
- 41:14are that's low hanging cru right, Like see seeing somebody who has a funny
- 41:19like who has a facial disability or or whatever because of an accident stitching up
- 41:22and be like yo, oh my god, it's throwing up like that's cheap
- 41:27humor, that's that's low hanging frugh, Like nobody should be laughing at that,
- 41:30and you should be dumby shamed for that, like you were making somebody
- 41:32else feel bad like you can. I mean, if that's if it's the
- 41:37case where things are off limit, then I wouldn't be almost going into my
- 41:40third tour right like I wouldn't be writing a third hour of comedy like twenty
- 41:45like fifteen minutes is me and my hysterecte to me if you didn't tell me
- 41:49I can't talk about my own defective like uterists, Like you got another thing
- 41:52comment? Okay, Like i'f I hear it. You know, I will
- 41:55say what I want about yeah, yeah, Like as long as you stick
- 42:00to things that you have experience and and like don't talk about things you have
- 42:05no experience in, which is another thing that hates me, Like I hate
- 42:07that about social media, these people who are putting input in and giving their
- 42:13opinion on things and they have no experience. It's like, ma'am, are
- 42:15you are you a mother? Yeah? Do you have children? No?
- 42:19Then you don't have You don't get to have an opinion on how I raised
- 42:22my child, because I can guarantee you as soon as you have children,
- 42:25your tune is gonna change and you're gonna see what it's really like. Right,
- 42:29same thing, like I can I can mean an ally to the LGBT
- 42:32plus community, but I can't pick up their fight for them because I don't
- 42:36know what it's like to be discriminated like them, just like they don't know
- 42:38what it's like to be discriminated for being South Asian. Like I grew up
- 42:43in the eighties here in America when we had to stay quiet and be in
- 42:47the background, and we're young being in the background. So yeah, I
- 42:52really was for Lisa, I forgot your I'd love to be in a serious
- 42:58I just can't memorize lines, so they would have to be okay with me
- 43:00ad living thing. As long as they're okay with that, I'll go anywhere
- 43:05I would love to do be in movies being serious. Yeah like that.
- 43:08She asked that question, like what do you want to do next? We
- 43:10want to know. I want to do it all, You want to do
- 43:14it all? Sky's the limit? Yeah, right now we're focusing on just
- 43:19the tour obviously. You know you usually need to like have three good hours
- 43:22under your belt to make one good like hour to sell play streaming service or
- 43:29something right. And so right now that's been the focus. And I'm not
- 43:32one of those people that believes in like hustle culture where you have to constantly
- 43:36go, go, go, because it's like do you remember what you did?
- 43:38Yeah? Yeah, remember going and you're ever being tired and you remember
- 43:42eating like crap, But did you actually enjoy the journey? Yeah? No,
- 43:45I mean that's like an overscheduling mom, like you have to do it
- 43:47all like that is exhausting in itself. I mean and usually with the mom,
- 43:52you're taking pictures the whole time, you're not even experiencing it. So
- 43:54yeah, I mean I feel like I feel like there's a couple things about
- 44:00you that I think that I can relate to late like propelling you forward.
- 44:05I mean, do you feel like you have really good RBF? And do
- 44:07you you know? And that is sad hell PS person will approach me at
- 44:13all, which is the ultimate RBF. Tok, right, walk all and
- 44:16see if any MALKF person approaches you, like I can, I can go
- 44:20by the chea hair straighter with my hair down, say, they still won't
- 44:22come up to me. They're like, no, no, you're fun.
- 44:24We're good, We're good right right, Well, Pinky, this has been
- 44:28so much fun. I can't even tell you we can I we could go
- 44:30on all day I have. Yeah, the Sun's looking out for your tour.
- 44:36Where can they find you on social media? Which you know you need
- 44:37another million followers? Yeah, so share a million? Sure with the moms
- 44:40where they could follow I want them all. There's eight billion people on this
- 44:43time exactly, So where can the rest the other three million? Finder?
- 44:46You're more than halfway there, Let's get away. Yeah, no, Pinky
- 44:50put tele official everywhere I kept we kept it easy. Okay, great,
