- 2:00There. We've got so many things I want to get to this morning.
- 2:01I got so many guests to talk to you about as well. There's going
- 2:06to be a special ride held in Charleston to raise money for breast cancer and
- 2:09breast cancer awareness, and we're going to talk about that, Think Pink Ride.
- 2:15We'll talk about that. Metro New state Wide Correspondent Brad Mcalhenny's going to
- 2:17stop by the fault I continues following the governor's financial statements that were released on
- 2:23Monday. Brad and I are going to talk about that, plus Governatorial Canada
- 2:25Chris Miller is going to be by a little bit later on as well.
- 2:30You've heard me talking on the show here recently about some things that are being
- 2:36discussed as it pertains to public outdoor drinking and the Charleston area. It's been
- 2:42talked about just goes on in other cities and it's called PODA, and we're
- 2:46going to get in exactly what that means. Chad Robinson is a city councilor
- 2:51out of Ward twenty and he joins us right now. He's all on board
- 2:53for this. Chad, good morning, how are you sir? Thanks day
- 2:55for having me again. Last time we're here, I think we're talking turf.
- 2:59Oh yes, we were. Well today we're talking not not kids,
- 3:02the furthest thing from it why is this being discussed or where did it come
- 3:07from? And I'm gonna because I talked about it on a couple times on
- 3:10the show Councilman, and we had a couple of tax people I think had
- 3:14some concerns about it's being proposed that certain areas, certain folks, certain businesses
- 3:20would be allowed to to drink in public in Charleston. But now it's not
- 3:25as bad as it sounds. So break it down if this comes into being
- 3:30what it would be. Yeah, this is uh. Sometimes it gets overblown,
- 3:34but this is a podas private outdoor designated areas. This was passed by
- 3:38the Western Legislature this year in a full ABCA omnibus bill. I followed it
- 3:46throughout the session. This is not a partisan issue. This is something that
- 3:52is important for our downtown businesses. Not only our downtown businesses, but for
- 3:57the podas that are drafted in the current bill is city Center, Downtown,
- 4:02Elk City, Bridge Road, and the Capital Market. So what this what
- 4:09it does is basically allows anyone to purchase an alcoholic beverage or non alcoholic beverage
- 4:15in an establishment in a PODA location and carry in a designated cup outside.
- 4:23Okay, So you know, take from one area, from one restaurant to
- 4:28another. Give us an example, and maybe just use the downtown because that
- 4:31may be an area that more people are familiar with. How would this work.
- 4:34People come downtown for an art walk, or people come downtown for you
- 4:38know, any number of things. Just give us an example. You and
- 4:41I are just hanging out, Chad, we go into let's go to five
- 4:46Street, and we order a beer and we decide we want to purchase a
- 4:50cup. Because it has to be in a specially designated cup. We would
- 4:54get our cup there from from five Street and then we would be able to
- 4:57and just kind of take it from there. Sure, that's a Let's think
- 5:00Friday, the friday when the Capitol Street or shut down, will go into
- 5:04Fife Street by an adult beverage in a designated cup. All those UH restaurants
- 5:12or bars will have designated cups that they you purchase by by a beer drink,
- 5:19walk down Fife Street the alley, enjoy your beverage, walk into Adelphia,
- 5:27have another drink. That's it. It's in designated areas. You can't
- 5:30go outside those areas. Now, you cannot go outside those areas, and
- 5:32it has to be in the designated cups. So it's not you're not gonna
- 5:34be able to run into your local store, or you're not gonna be able
- 5:39to show up, you know, with a with a with a Coors lighter
- 5:42or whatever and walk down the street. That's not the way this works.
- 5:44It has to be in the especially designated areas. And this is something that
- 5:49I think the majority of businesses have asked for in downtown Charleston. Absolutely,
- 5:55this is not something we've come up with own our own. You wouldn't be
- 5:59doing this. You and I talked for sure, you wouldn't be doing this
- 6:00that the business people I can come to you and ask, well, this
- 6:01is something that you know, we we've always since I've been on council for
- 6:05almost six years now, we're looking for events, We're looking for options.
- 6:11We're looking for things that we can enhance that let our restaurants and businesses downtown
- 6:16enhance their business. This is that option. It's nothing more than giving them
- 6:23the customers and another option. And actually, you know, my thing is
- 6:29it's not always best to be first and passing ordinances and things like that.
- 6:33Huntington's passed one already. We've taken our time on this ordinance about a month
- 6:40now. I've had two meetings already in my Ordinance and Rules Committee, uh,
- 6:45and we're going to meet again October two to take up the drafted legislation.
- 6:50Also too, we've included all downtown businesses and retail establishments. They're actually
- 6:55meeting tomorrow morning at nine am to discuss it further. We're open to making
- 7:00changes to allow our businesses to use this option to help them with bringing more
- 7:06customers to downtown area. And where is the meeting? Go to me to
- 7:09where I want. It's at Adelphia Sports Bar at nine am for the Retail
- 7:14and Business Association, so anybody can show up that owns a business or whatever
- 7:17talking about that. What has been the response from from the public, Because
- 7:20I know this was I've talked about it on the show just a little bit.
- 7:24I know the Gazette mailed at an article on it. It's been all
- 7:28over you know, the social media. What has the response been from the
- 7:30public so far. I've had nothing but positive comments. I've not received well,
- 7:35I actually see one negative, but it wasn't really a negative, just
- 7:39a hey, Chad, look at this, and you know this gives we
- 7:43talk We talked about the downtown City Center. But this also gives the option
- 7:47to Elk City Area. There's a PODA creator for there the Bridge Road during
- 7:51one of their events up there. And then Capital Market with Evan We've talked
- 7:57about that one too, But it's just another option for our businesses to bring
- 8:01more customers to downtown Charleston. And again, what is the enforcement going to
- 8:05look like on this? I mean, because you know you said, Okay,
- 8:09I can't if I if I get a bear, you mentioned five Street,
- 8:11if I get a beer, I can't go outside the designated areas.
- 8:16So I mean, are you are you? Are you concerned? I guess
- 8:18I would say, uh that because the Charleston Police Department is going to have
- 8:22to enforce this, that maybe a little bit a little bit taxing to them.
- 8:24Have you have you heard from them? What doesn't do? I have
- 8:28no issues with allowing CPD and public works in our In our ordinance UH that's
- 8:35drafted. Each PODA has UH requirements regarding CPDU and public works downtown up to
- 8:46four and four CPD officers and two public works during the time of the podas
- 8:52open. It's no different than think of Live on the Levey, think you
- 8:56our Capital street closed. Our officers are there now. This is not going
- 9:00to add any more duties to their their their day or nights. And as
- 9:05you mentioned Huntington, I spend a lot of time in Ohio, Mariette,
- 9:09Ohio particularly and in Marietta. This has gone on for some time because I
- 9:13first saw the signs that called it Dora up there and it's designated outdoor Recreation
- 9:16Area, I guess, or something like that, and I saw the signs
- 9:20of my wife and I were up there, like what the heck is Dora?
- 9:22And I had to look at it. Also, there's several places outside
- 9:26Columbus that do this well. In some of the some of the areas outside
- 9:30Columbus it also goes on. And again I think it's important to know people
- 9:33can't just walk down the street councilman with their with their bottles. So that's
- 9:37not the way this works. And it's in a specially designated area. And
- 9:41if somebody you know, is walking down the street carrying a bottle of whiskey
- 9:46or beer or whatever and it's not in the cup, then they're gonna paste
- 9:48consequences for that. That's absolutely right. We will have designated cups, could
- 9:52be color coordinated, could be clear with certain logos, but it'll be designated
- 9:58cups that they must carry in these specific areas only, and enforcement will be
- 10:03tight at first, I believe, and you know, I think the downtown
- 10:05business would want that, and you're going want this to go outside of what
- 10:11the rule says, and I think it's good. It's good for our businesses.
- 10:15It's it's something that gives them an option to work together to build more
- 10:20customer based downtown. So I guess you're asking businesses in the area that one
- 10:26and you've already talked to most of them. Again, they're the ones that
- 10:28ask for this. And it is important to note that this was something that
- 10:31was passed by the legislature and you mentioned it being nonpartisan. This was a
- 10:35Republican legislature that passed it. So we don't want to turn this into a
- 10:39Democrat versus Republican liberal conservative thing. This was the Republican legislature that pat that
- 10:43made this legal in Westvigia. Yeah, this is not a partisan bill.
- 10:46Actually, Senator Eric Nelson helped us on the Senate, and Delegate Kelly Young
- 10:50helped us in the House, and many other Knall County legislators helped us with
- 10:54this. It's it's not partisan at all. You care to take a couple
- 10:58of texts, You have a couple text weight done here Texas. This council
- 11:01person's previously question any discussion in relation to regulations on camping in relation to the
- 11:09virgin and the homelessness problem in the Charleston the city of Charleston faces. Why
- 11:13does he feel it's more important that the art walk participants enjoy their beverage instead
- 11:16of dealing with a homeless problem that isn't being addressed this that's two separate issues.
- 11:20It's a homeless issue is a totally separate issue from this for helping our
- 11:24businesses. I believe we've seen that the Charleston Police Department has taken care of
- 11:31some of our homeless issues. It's not a Charleston issue for homelessness. This
- 11:33is a nationally seen issue that's across the country and many many of our cities
- 11:41in West Virginia are having the same exact problem for homelessness. And another text
- 11:46says, will there be a sign that says don't walk past here with your
- 11:48drink? Yes, that's that's what's It's a great text. Yes, there'll
- 11:52be signage on all entrances and exits of the PODA areas. We're talking about
- 11:58what hype of signagists possibly at our meeting, we had over fifteen different businesses
- 12:05at our meeting last Thursday, and some of us like, maybe it's on
- 12:09the street where you're entering or exiting, or it's on the on the post
- 12:13when you're entering or extra destiting. That's the way I've seen it in other
- 12:16cities. That's when I first saw the science I talked about Texas Dave are
- 12:20The business is going to have to pay for the cups and will they guarantee
- 12:24availability? That's that's being discussed. Uh. We believe that the first round
- 12:28of cups will be purchased by the city, designated and designed by the city,
- 12:33but going forward it could be a business uh issue. So let me
- 12:39just say, let's just say it's in one of these designated areas downtown and
- 12:43I own a business and I don't want people to come in. Can I
- 12:48put a sign up that says I'm not taking part or whatever, no alcoholic
- 12:54beverage is allowed. I could do that absolutely. Only those who as an
- 12:58application process with the city and with ABCA to be included in the PODA.
- 13:03And if a business does not want to participate, they don't have to persic
- 13:05and so they don't pay. They don't pay the fee. They don't because
- 13:09the business will be paining, it will be paying for this small and and
- 13:11it's and it's it's again, it's it's if they choose to, they don't
- 13:15have to, that's right. And so they could put signs up, you
- 13:18know, I could just see it now with a beer and a circle a
- 13:20line drawn through it or something that says that says that you can't come in
- 13:22here. All right, So what are the what's the timeline again? You're
- 13:24gonna have this meetia tomorrow morning of business people at nine o'clock at Adelphia Business
- 13:30or mean, myself and the city manager will attend just to answer any questions
- 13:35and hopefully we have some changes to the drafted bill eight zero one three and
- 13:41that will be on our my agenda for five o'clock Monday, uh right before
- 13:48Finance, Accordance and rulesfully and Council. If we could get it out of
- 13:52our committee on Monday, it'll be on full council for a Monday night.
- 13:58Right. Well, well, we should the best to lock regardless of what
- 14:01happens, because I know, again this is something that the City of Charleston,
- 14:03I mean, based on what I have been told by you and by
- 14:07some of the business people, is that they've asked for this. It's going
- 14:09on in other cities. There haven't been any problems that I'm aware of.
- 14:13And Honeyton I know because as I said, I spent a lot of time
- 14:15at Mariette, Ohio. There's not been any issues there. I mean,
- 14:18so you know, but it's enforcement if you've got If it does get out
- 14:22of hand, you can as just crack some heads, not literally get it's
- 14:24taken care of. I'm open to help in our businesses any way possible.

- 18:22proceeds benefiting the c AFC Breast Center. Sherry Workman is with the organization.
- 18:27She joins us now shared good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning,
- 18:30thank you for being here. Thank you You've made the rounds this morning,
- 18:33haven't you? Weren't you on the here with the with Rob or in
- 18:37the basement on Superstar Country? Kwus you're down there with him hanging out.
- 18:41We'll make care a bona fide radio person before the days of now. I
- 18:44really wouldn't wish that on. You seem too nice for that. We don't
- 18:47want to make you one of us. It's gonna be a good time for
- 18:49a good cause. Talk about the group first, this third annual. Then
- 18:52we'll talk about about your riding group. Okay, the Valkyries Ladies Club.
- 18:56We Hannah Johnson and I founded it in July of twenty twenty one just to
- 19:03you know, there's a lot of female riders out there that you know,
- 19:08don't really want to ride with guys, and so, you know, we
- 19:11just thought this would be a great idea to you know, encourage more women
- 19:15to get out and ride. We do a lot of community events, including
- 19:21the Think Pink Ride. How long have you been riding yourself? I've been
- 19:25riding for four years. No, really, okay, what is it that
- 19:29My reason I said, really is I assume by you know, in barking
- 19:32on something like this, that you probably would have been riding like your whole
- 19:33life you just picked up. For what is it about riding that you like
- 19:37so much? The freedom really, just the freedom getting on the bike,
- 19:41the wind just just going and it just just you know, release your mind
- 19:47and you can just just ride. What kind of bike do you ride?
- 19:48I have a no force softail standard. Okay, right. And one thing
- 19:52I have learned I'm not a motorcyclist myself, but one thing I have learned
- 19:56by being friends with a lot of men and women that ride bikes is there
- 20:00they're a family, very close knit group, and there's a lot of stereotypes
- 20:07around people that ride bikes. And I will tell you I have done work
- 20:10in my thirty five years in this radio business, I have done work with
- 20:14a lot of different motorcycle organizations and a lot of different parts of the state.
- 20:18Some of the most caring, giving, loving people that you could ever
- 20:23want to meet, whether it's something like this for cancer, whether it's uh
- 20:26providing toys and think you know, for kids at Christmas time. I mean,
- 20:30some of the most caring people in the world that ride motorcycles. Yes
- 20:36they are. The biker community is amazing and like you said, usually stereotyped
- 20:41they see them, you know, with their men, you know, with
- 20:44their beards, their tattoos. They don't all have tattoos and beards, you
- 20:48know, but still they see all that and it's like, oh, no,
- 20:49stay away from them. But but no, the it really I wasn't
- 20:53around, you know, a lot of the biker community and everything before you
- 20:57know, I started riding in everything, and it really opened my eyes.
- 21:03And I know I've changed a lot me personally, you know, I know
- 21:06I've changed a lot of other people's viewpoints, you know, of bikers,
- 21:10and and that's another goal of the Valkyries, you know, it's just like
- 21:15bringing the feminine side, you know, you know, in on it.
- 21:18Also. Yeah, and again we're talking with Sherry Workman about this third annual
- 21:22Think Pink Ride. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the CMC
- 21:26Breast Center. Why is this particular cause important to your organization? Sharing,
- 21:32Well, you know, we're females, you know, we're females, and
- 21:34breast cancer does not Actually I found this out doing the research and the spokespeople
- 21:38that I've spoke with through the c AMC Cancer Center. Breast cancer doesn't only
- 21:44affect females, No, man can get one of one of my former co
- 21:48workers and best France, he's since passed on, not from that, but
- 21:51for something else. You've suffered from breast cancer. Yeah, and like I
- 21:55said, I mean it affects everyone, whether personally or someone that you know,
- 22:00co worker, loved, one family member, you know, and gets
- 22:03expensive. Ite's very, very expensive. And one percent of our funds going
- 22:10to you know, the breast cancer Center. Part of this, you know,
- 22:15it's used to anyone, whether you have insurance or not. You know
- 22:18you can it's it's to help fund for the screenings. You can get a
- 22:22screening. You know, there's transportation costs that people don't think about getting to
- 22:27and from the treatments, and then just other personal assistance that is needed that
- 22:33you know insurance does not cover and sometimes that is an issue. And you
- 22:38set a goal for yourself to raise was that ten thousand dollars since years?
- 22:44Yeah, when we first started this. Our this is our third annual,
- 22:47like you said, our first one. I can still remember being in the
- 22:48TV interview stating that I just you know, they have said, you know,
- 22:52what was our goal? And I was like, I said, I'd
- 22:55like to raise five hundred two thousand dollars. You know that was you know
- 22:59too years ago. This is our third one and this year the club,
- 23:03you know, we talked and everything about it and everything, and we set
- 23:07this goal that when we were figuring up the money that we've brought in that
- 23:10we've gave to the foundation, if we match last year's amounts and then increase
- 23:18it by eleven dollars, it'll be ten thousand dollars is what we've raised.
- 23:22If we do it, you know, in three years. That's why we're
- 23:25really you know, it is a club goal, and you know, we're
- 23:27really really really trying to push for that. Yeah, And so everything's going
- 23:32to be uh in Charleston this Sunday. Registration is at eleven. I like
- 23:37this, kickstands up at one, kickstands up at one. It's at the
- 23:40sea. So you're going to start at the c AMC Cancer Center thirty four
- 23:42fifteen mccorkill Avenue, Southeast and Charleston. It's fifteen dollars for single, twenty
- 23:48dollars for doubles. What's what does the ride itself look like? We are
- 23:52just it's it's a simple rinde. We just try it. Because last year
- 23:55we had over a hundred bikes, okay. And so when you have that
- 23:57many bikes going through are also done you know, in the area and stuff
- 24:00like that, it's hard to get every you know, keep it safe for
- 24:04us and others and everything else, and so we try and keep it simple.
- 24:08We're just going to go straight down sixty to Collode and we're going to
- 24:11end it at the Coal Miners Lounge, okay. And we have door prizes.
- 24:15You know, we really want to thank the community and the local businesses
- 24:18that have you know, you know, dug deep and gave us door prizes,
- 24:22gave us cash donations, which we do. You know, we will
- 24:26take cash donations even if you can't be there, right people have to work
- 24:30or right, yeah, I don't ride right and then and that's perfectly fine,
- 24:33you know, but still be affected, you know, or want to
- 24:36give you know, for this and everything. But you can follow us on
- 24:40our Facebook page, Valkyrie's Ladies Club. You know, we'll have there's flyers
- 24:45out pretty much everywhere. There's you know, more information. If you can't
- 24:48come, you know, you can send a check to the CMC Foundation and
- 24:53the address and all of that, you know will be on our facebook.

- 25:41what. Just an opportunity to get out there. And we had a text

- 31:36former President Trump, He'll skip it to speak to auto workers instead. Latest
- 31:41polls have him somewhere around forty points ahead of his nearest rival, Rond and
- 31:47Santa's a couple of notes about our presumptive nomintees for president, former President Trump
- 31:52and current office holder Joe Biden. Start with President Biden. NAVC News out
- 31:56with a story that the federal probe and if the President's handling the classified documents
- 32:01has grown into a widespread investigation. As many as one hundred witnesses have already
- 32:08been interviewed and more coming. Now. This is when he was vice president
- 32:13under President Obama, not when he was president. This is handling the classified
- 32:15documents as vice president and worth noting that this is a growing investigation. As
- 32:22for Trump, a judge has ruled that the former president engaged in repeated fraud
- 32:27to obtain business loans for his businesses. Pretty much the way I read it,
- 32:34Trump has done with being allowed to conduct business in the state of New
- 32:37York. If this holds, the judge's words were Trump and other defendants have
- 32:44a propensity to engage in persistent fraud end quote. That's the words out of
- 32:51the judge there in New York. And remember this is our future, folks
- 32:55in twenty twenty four, that we're talking about Trump and Biden. This is
- 32:59what we're talking Let's go to Mentro New state wide correspondent Brad Michael Henny Brad,
- 33:02good morning, how are you hey? Good morning, doing good,
- 33:06Great to have you along this morning. We waited, Brad a long time
- 33:10for the governor's financial disclosures to come out, and well that came out one
- 33:16hundred or so days late, I think on Monday. This was some fun
- 33:22reading. What what was your biggest and you talked about a little bit with
- 33:25a hoppy, but what was your biggest takeaway from the whole thing? I
- 33:30know that's kind of hard to surmise into a couple of minutes. What was
- 33:32your biggest takeaway from the governor's financials? You know, A couple of things
- 33:39I wanted to know. A couple of things stood up. One is that,
- 33:45particularly early in his political career, Justices entry into your door to ask
- 33:52your vote was I'm a businessman. I have done this, I can bose
- 33:57the numbers, bring that business acumen potentially to his government experience, and he
- 34:05has. He has continued to say that when financial questions have come up,
- 34:07so does the do do this? Does this financial disclosure show that that Justice
- 34:15is a good businessman? You know, just generally doesn't reflect that. And
- 34:22then secondly, he's a he's in a high profile and expensive US Senate campaign
- 34:27and was recruited by US Senate Republican leadership. And so the question has been
- 34:32there to what degree, if any, could Justice self fund his campaign.
- 34:37Well, you know, you look at this, and I will say this
- 34:40information is available to you. You can you can look up Senate financial disclosure,
- 34:46gentle listeners, and you can go to this and and take a look
- 34:50yourself. Justice does have a lot of assets, hundreds of lines of reporting
- 34:58on assets, stockholdings, is checking accounts parts of his family business network,
- 35:08and they they are listed as having significant value, particularly you know, the
- 35:15coal holdings, the resorts, all of that significant value, but some of
- 35:22them, some of the more than fifty million dollars, it says in overall
- 35:28value of the asset. But then you come out to another line and it
- 35:32says, well, how much income is it bringing in, and line after
- 35:36line after line it says none. So, you know, Justice, as
- 35:40we have suspected for a while, and his own report does appear to have
- 35:47holdings at least he and and maybe assessors consider to be of value but not
- 35:55bringing in any money. So you know, the first question, good business
- 36:00guy's it would be hard to make that assessment if you have all those assets
- 36:06and they're not bringing in any money, hard to say, good business guy.
- 36:10And can he self support his expensive US Senate campaign based on the income
- 36:19coming in? That would be hard to support. Also, and again you
- 36:22talked about that campaign. The polls have him way out ahead of Congressman Alex
- 36:29Mooney. We don't know if there's going to be a Democrat if just as
- 36:32ones. We don't know if there's gonna I mean, there'll be somebody to
- 36:35run, but we don't know. Certainly looking like it's not going to be
- 36:37Joe Manchin, but we don't know who that would be. Brad, did
- 36:40you hear Senator Tar on the show yesterday, because he wasted no time and
- 36:45pouncing up on this. I did hear him, and I thought he raised
- 36:52some specific and insightful questions. One of them to review. I'm sure everybody
- 36:58was listening yesterday, but just to remind everyone on what Senator Tar wondered first
- 37:02was about a couple of loans. One was a loan of in the neighborhood
- 37:09of one million to five million dollars, specifically from the businessman and broadcaster Brave
- 37:15Carry, who spent several years as Justice as senior advisor. And then there
- 37:22was also another loan in the same range one to five million dollars from his
- 37:28Carry Foundation, a sort of charitable fund that bray Carrey has, you know,
- 37:36and there's very little we know otherwise. It had a date on it.
- 37:39It was August thirty first, twenty twenty one. That was just a
- 37:44few weeks after bray Carrey left the Justice administration. There are questions that I
- 37:47have, you know, first, how do you raise the issue, Okay,
- 37:51can you flip me alone of five million dollars? Why why would bray
- 37:57Carrey provide that money both from his own checking account apparently as well as from
- 38:02his own charitable account. And why did the governor seem to need that specific
- 38:07amount? No explanation so far. And then the other the other thing that
- 38:13I thought was a great question from Senator tar It was something I hadn't noticed.
- 38:15But the liabilities section for Justice listed loans zero zero percent loans, so
- 38:24he's paying zero percent interest. But some of them up to boy there was
- 38:31a five five hundred thousand to one million dollar loan from Teams Management, which
- 38:37is a company Justice owned himself, a loan of that amount to Justice for
- 38:44zero percent interest. Also, well, sorry, it was a line of
- 38:47credit. Loan is not the proper term, but it was a line of
- 38:50credit. And then another line of credit, for example, from Bellwood Corporation
- 38:54one million dollars to five million dollars to Justice zero percent interest. A line
- 38:59of credit from the Greenbrier, the resort which Justice's family owns, True Justice
- 39:07five million to twenty five million dollars that line of credit at zero percent interest.
- 39:10So, I, like Senda to Tar, don't quite understand how that
- 39:15works. And it is a range, and it is a line of credits,
- 39:20But how much from the family businesses is benefiting Governor Justice in his own
- 39:29day to day living, very very curious, and I thought Sendor Tar was
- 39:34correct, and we're out as a matter of questioning. Well, it's going
- 39:37to be pointed out in the campaign. I can promise you that. And
- 39:39again, as Senator Tar said on the show yesterday, Brad, I mean
- 39:43this is one of those two or three big races that everybody across the country
- 39:46is going to be looking at and Congressman Alex Mooney is way way down in
- 39:52the polls, as you know. And I guess the question here is,
- 39:55Brad, is will this be enough for will voters care? I mean,
- 40:00because you know Jim Justice is his numbers, I don't know, I haven't
- 40:02seen recent pony, but his numbers as far as his popularity of governors,
- 40:07he's fourth fifth most popular governor in America. People elected him as a Democrat
- 40:15knowing that he had had a lot of this financial not to the point that
- 40:17we have at now, but that knowing he has some of this financial uncertainty
- 40:22or whatever, and people didn't really care. They voted for him back when
- 40:25he's a Democrat. He made to switch the Republican. It doesn't seem seem
- 40:29like it's going to really make a whole lot of difference. But I do
- 40:31think that what you're gonna see and what you're gonna hear, Brad on media
- 40:37outlets like this and your television stations and social media newspaper, you're gonna see
- 40:40a lot of money poured into West Virginia by political action committees and the lack
- 40:47of you called it the lack of financial acumen on behalf of governor Justice is
- 40:54going to be a major vocal point in the campaign, would you agree,
- 41:00Well, I think so. I had the same question you do that as
- 41:04far back as twenty sixteen when Justice was first running as a businessman for governor.
- 41:09He received this criticism and won anyway. And then in two thousand,
- 41:16when it was twenty twenty, when he was running for re election, you
- 41:20know, it came up again. It's it's it's been, It's arisen many
- 41:22times over the years. What I do wonder is if if the difference could
- 41:28be that this is a race for US Senate, it's very evenly split.
- 41:31Congressman Mooney, who is his Republican primary campaign opponent, has his own significant
- 41:39campaign funds, but also has allies in Club for Growth with potentially millions of
- 41:45dollars to spend. And so has Justice been hammered on this point to the
- 41:52degree that he potentially could be hammered first by allies of Congressman Mooney and then
- 41:59potential actually for the general election potentially for allies of Senator Mansion. We will
- 42:05see. I don't know still if it'll make a difference, but it is
- 42:09it is out there as an issue that I think we'll hear of in these
- 42:13these advertising campaigns. What are you working on today, Brad? Never a
- 42:15dull moment in the world of Brad. What are you? What are you?
- 42:19What are you looking at today? Byn? You know, I got
- 42:23up today expecting that we would hear Governor Justice is going to have a media
- 42:29availability. They've typically been on Wednesdays, and so far none has been announced
- 42:34today. Justice did have a fundraiser in Washington, DC yesterday late afternoon,
- 42:42early evening, so it's possible that the schedule has been disrupted because of that
- 42:47event. But I thought that there would be significant questions, potentially including by
- 42:52me, about this this this financial disclosure. But we might have to wait
- 42:58another day on that. Secondly, every every moment, Dave, every moment,
- 43:02we get closer and closer to a federal government shutdown, so that is
- 43:06also worth watching. All right, Brand, I appreciate it. We'll talk

- 46:00meeks dot us. Let's go to the phone. So let's tat to Google
- 46:04Tour Canada. Chris Miller, Good morning, sir. How are you,
- 46:07David Man? I'm fantastic. How about yourself? I am doing well.
- 46:09You know, we're running a little bit short on time, which is bad
- 46:13for two guys like us who love to talk. Yeah, in that that
- 46:15aren't true. But go ahead, I'll get right to the chase. Then
- 46:21all right, well, but let me ask you this first. I want
- 46:22to ask you was how's the campaign one? I gotta give you how's the
- 46:24campaign one? Listen? Rock and Rolling got a ton of momentum ever since
- 46:30we had the first quote unquote debate. She's taken off and quite frankly,
- 46:34Dave it was I don't know if he saw it or not. The consensus
- 46:37was I smoked him. Anyway. The reason why I'm calling those not it
- 46:42wouldn't even talk about that, Okay, talk about what real election interference is.
- 46:46I'm sure you've seen by now that there was this lawsuit that was filed
- 46:51in West Virginia by this crazy group of liberal people it's called crew and they
- 46:57are literally trying to kick Donald Trump off of the and they're doing this all
- 47:00around the country. It started in Texas, and they're using it underneath the
- 47:05guys at the fourteenth Amendment, which is you know that that was created to
- 47:08keep a bunch of British loyalists from you know, being involved inside of the
- 47:13government as we formed it and has nothing to do with this, and they're
- 47:16trying to use they're trying to violate Donald Trump's First Amendment rights of free speech
- 47:21to use that as a reason to keep him off of ballots. I don't
- 47:25I'm pretty confident that it's not going to work in West Virginia. The question
- 47:29is does it work anywhere else around the country. And like this, this
- 47:32is not stuff that's done right after, you know, the election happened in
- 47:37twenty twenty. This is being done right now before another election that's occurring.
- 47:42With the entire ideal idea is to take all of his focus and resources and
- 47:47have him fight all these legal battles all around the country as opposed to like
- 47:51focusing on beating Joe Biden and running for president. So I think it's definitely
- 47:55worth mentioned mentioning I think everybody out there needs to understand and this. It
- 48:00is an absolutely crazy thing that's going on, and it's nothing more than like
- 48:05a baked in deep state approach to try to interfere inside of an election.
- 48:09It's it's crazy. The state Republican Party Chris issued a statement within the last
- 48:15hour about it, and I can't really I necessarily read it on the air,
- 48:17but but they're all over this. I think somebody's told me in the
- 48:21hallway that the state treasure Riley Moore had released statements on it. So a
- 48:23lot of the a lot of the Republican folks are are all up in arms
- 48:28over this. Yeah, it's really disappointed to see this happening. It seems
- 48:34like it is like you're talking about election interference. This seems to me to
- 48:37be what election interference is right here. And I'm a big Trump supporter.
- 48:44I think I'm the biggest Trump supporter in West Virginia when it comes to raising
- 48:49money for him and helping, you know, get votes for him. And
- 48:54to see something like this, where I've spent a lot of my time trying
- 48:58to raise money for a president happen is just it's disgusting because it's going to
- 49:05take all of these particular resources that he has that he has been building up
- 49:08and have to direct them all the fighting stupid lawsuits. It's ridiculous, Chris.
- 49:14So let me just play Devil's advocate here for a moment. So you're
- 49:16saying you have no problem with President Trump. Obviously, you're a supporter the
- 49:22lawsuits, the court cases his own alleged election meddling or making phone calls to
- 49:25Georgia. You're you're okay with that. Listen, until I believe in our
- 49:30legal system, right, I believe in the fact that it's guilty until or
- 49:34sorry, innocent until proven guilty. Okay, And I don't see anything that.
- 49:38I don't see anything that shows that he has done anything wrong as of
- 49:42yet. I haven't seen it yet, have you? Well, I mean
- 49:45when you when you start playing seeing phone calls. Now, I do have
- 49:47a little bit of an issue with that. Telling people to find votes,
- 49:50I mean, didn't have a little bit, a little bit much Chris.
- 49:52Well, so if you're talking about literally finding and inventing votes, that's one
- 49:57thing. I guess it's intent. It goes to yeah, yeah, right,
- 50:00and listen, there were all kinds of stuff shelf around in this.
- 50:04And if you're talking about locating where all the votes are, that's one thing
- 50:07you're talking about inventing something that's something totally different. Okay, what about all
- 50:12the other cases you you contend, you and others contend that these are just
- 50:16being no pun intended trumped up to keep him off the ballot. I think
- 50:21it's very very convenient to do this stuff during during another presidential election, as
- 50:24opposed to starting all of these things the week after the past election in twenty
- 50:29twenty. So that tells me there's a lot of political nonsense baked into all
- 50:31of this stuff. Well, and again, you're looking at somebody that has
- 50:34forty percent at least a forty percent advantage over his nearest Republican rival, and
- 50:39the Republican debates at night, he's not going to be there, and he's
- 50:44going to get no matter where what platform that his talk to the auto workers
- 50:47is going to, it's going to get more ratings than what the Republican debate's
- 50:51going to get on television, which is pretty fascinating in it it is for
- 50:54media guy, it is it is pretty fascinating. You and I are both
- 50:59media guys, and that is marketing baby it is, and you call yourself
- 51:02the greatest market in history. You stay to West Virginia so you would know.
- 51:07I guess David takes one another one. Yeah, you get pretty dark.
- 51:10Good yourself, all right, Chris, we'll talk a good suit man.
- 51:14Thanks a lot, best to luck to you. Appreciate Chris Miller again
- 51:16gubernatorial candidate here in the state of West Virginia. You know, Chris and
- 51:22I have been friends for us. We kind of he kind of needle on
- 51:23each other a little bit from time to time. But he got me with
- 51:27that last one about the marketing. Yeah he did. I you know,
- 51:30look I have said on this show, and we're running out of time,
- 51:32I have made I'm not exactly the most popular person within the Republican Party and
- 51:36staid to West Virginia simply because I cannot wrap my head around me personally speaking
- 51:42to me, not the station, not anybody else. I can't wrap myself
- 51:45around the Donald Trump flak. I just can't do it. And U but
- 51:50he or Joe Biden is going to be the next president of the United States,
- 51:53and you are looking, in my opinion, my opinion, only two
- 51:58of the most corrupt individuals on the face of the Earth and one of them
- 52:01is going to be your next president of the United States and my president too,
- 52:06So there you go. My thanks for Chris Miller for being on the
- 52:07show, and the Sherry Workman from the Think Pink Ride, Brad mclahaney as
