- 2:00Speaker 1: Everything you do helps us in the algorithm.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So thank you.
- 2:05Speaker 1: In advance.
- 2:08Speaker 2: This is going to be a crazy podcast.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Sorry, I had to take medicine. I was losing my mind.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So anyway, before we get into the recap, which again
- 2:16Speaker 1: is the finale of season 10, I do have to
- 2:18Speaker 1: ask you, Beatrice, whether you had any.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I just think Cody's such a little bitch, baby.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Him crashing out over even the thought of eating pork
- 2:29Speaker 2: when you're in Hawaii and you're eating this beautiful roasted
- 2:32Speaker 2: pig that looked delicious, by the way.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Girl, you know I'm tracking my macros.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And I am in a cut perpetually. I saw that
- 2:39Speaker 1: pig and I was just like, oh.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I want that whole thing.
- 2:41Speaker 1: My God. Oh, my God.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Just give it to me right now. So good. But
- 2:44Speaker 2: he's like literally crashing out about it.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm just like, why?
- 2:47Speaker 2: How old are you?
- 2:48Speaker 1: Nobody asked me if we could have a luau. Bitch,
- 2:51Speaker 1: this is an honor in Hawaii for them to throw
- 2:53Speaker 1: you a luau. Like, straight up, and you're being insulting.
- 2:56Speaker 1: And you're pouting about it. God, cry me a river. Bitch, baby,
- 3:00Speaker 1: diaper baby. Can't stand him.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Me neither.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Did I have a takeaway? Not really. I mean, the
- 3:06Speaker 1: whole part with McKelty and Christine when McKelty comes, in
- 3:11Speaker 1: all of her innocence, honestly, to tell her mother that
- 3:14Speaker 1: she's in love with a boy named Tony. that she
- 3:18Speaker 1: met in St. George. And Christine, the energy that she
- 3:22Speaker 1: brings to that conversation is so different than what she
- 3:27Speaker 1: brought to Maddie's announcement of her engagement to Caleb. And
- 3:31Speaker 1: I was really just sad for McKelty because she really
- 3:34Speaker 1: wanted to have a special moment with her mom. Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And she didn't get it. No, not at all. Christine
- 3:40Speaker 1: kind of sucks. Kind of? Yeah, just a little bit.
- 3:44Speaker 1: We also want to acknowledge before we start the recap
- 3:47Speaker 1: that It was announced that season 21 of Sister Wives
- 3:51Speaker 1: is going to be starting on October 4th.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yep. So a month, less than a month.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Less than a month, like two weeks.
- 3:59Speaker 2: My God.
- 4:00Speaker 1: We've also heard rumors about the cast.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We are going to be and or have already addressed
- 4:07Speaker 1: this in a separate video. We don't know when these
- 4:09Speaker 1: are going to drop, but we're going to talk all
- 4:10Speaker 1: about that and our theories about what's really going on.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So make sure that you look for that on our channel.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Or on our podcast platforms. And without further ado, let's
- 4:20Speaker 1: get into today's recap of Sister Wives Season 10, Episode 9.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Hawaiian vacation erupts. Oh, God. Because Cody's a big old baby. Yep.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So we start off the vacation, go into a coffee
- 4:33Speaker 2: shop and we have to have this obligatory statement about
- 4:37Speaker 2: how Mormons don't drink coffee. But like Janelle likes coffee
- 4:42Speaker 2: because it's not that deep, bro. I'm going to enjoy
- 4:45Speaker 2: some Java. It's fine.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Have you seen on Instagram that reel that dropped probably
- 4:50Speaker 1: in the last 30 days or so of some white
- 4:53Speaker 1: bread mormon husband talking about discovering that his mormon wife
- 4:58Speaker 1: actually was drinking coffee behind his back and he's literally
- 5:02Speaker 1: crying about it that she was in this state of
- 5:06Speaker 1: deceit and sin and he was not aware of it
- 5:08Speaker 1: and it was devastating oh my god that's so stupid
- 5:12Speaker 1: cry bitch that's so stupid.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I'm sure there are some Mormons that probably watch us
- 5:17Speaker 2: and they don't drink coffee and that's fine. That's great.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I'm only judging you a little bit and that's fine.
- 5:22Speaker 2: But like, I don't know. The way the Browns frame
- 5:25Speaker 2: it in this episode is that like their church doesn't
- 5:28Speaker 2: follow all of the LDS rules, but they do follow
- 5:32Speaker 2: this kind of a rule because it's more about their
- 5:34Speaker 2: health and wellness and being healthy because I guess coffee
- 5:38Speaker 2: is unhealthy. I don't know. But why are we going
- 5:41Speaker 2: to a coffee shack to have breakfast? maybe just to
- 5:44Speaker 2: talk about their religion a little bit. I don't know.
- 5:47Speaker 2: They get there. It's a crazy small parking lot. They
- 5:51Speaker 2: bitch about the parking situation. Cody almost has a crash
- 5:54Speaker 2: out in the parking lot because he's trying to park
- 5:56Speaker 2: like four minivans with his big ass family in this
- 5:59Speaker 2: tiny ass island parking lot. And then when they get
- 6:03Speaker 2: settled in the restaurant, Cody tries to give some stupid
- 6:07Speaker 2: speech about being the general of the family and being
- 6:10Speaker 2: the president. And you guys got to answer to me. Why?
- 6:14Speaker 2: And I don't really get this because on the couch,
- 6:17Speaker 2: the adults talk about it. Like, you know, Cody's just like,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I just want to lay down the law. I want
- 6:21Speaker 2: them to listen to me. You know, I don't want
- 6:23Speaker 2: to be a dictator and I don't want to have
- 6:26Speaker 2: everybody come to me for all the decisions, but I
- 6:29Speaker 2: know that I have to be at the same time.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It was really weird. He's like, I don't want to
- 6:33Speaker 2: be the one to have all this responsibility, but everyone
- 6:36Speaker 2: comes to me. But then at the restaurant, he's like
- 6:37Speaker 2: going on this tirade about how you guys need to
- 6:40Speaker 2: listen to me.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It's like, and it's really strange because like, his sons
- 6:45Speaker 1: and like Maddie's significant other, like they're adult men. You
- 6:51Speaker 1: don't need to have these perpetual leadership conversations in front
- 6:55Speaker 1: of your family. It's like when Robin's baby Ariel was born,
- 6:59Speaker 1: we had to have another family meeting to announce the
- 7:02Speaker 1: name in which he starts with everybody be quiet. You
- 7:05Speaker 1: have to listen to me. It's like he's now entering
- 7:08Speaker 1: into his weird season of the patriarch.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Like it's getting drummed into his consciousness or something that
- 7:15Speaker 1: he should be respected. I think all of that is
- 7:17Speaker 1: starting now.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Because we never really got that from him in previous seasons,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but I'm seeing a lot of it in this season.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 2: And it's just weird to me, the disparity, because he's
- 7:26Speaker 2: sitting there saying one thing about how he doesn't want
- 7:29Speaker 2: that responsibility. He doesn't want everybody to come to him
- 7:32Speaker 2: all the time. But then at the same time, he
- 7:34Speaker 2: is expecting that. And then even Mary points it out
- 7:36Speaker 2: on the couch saying like, it's more about respect. Like
- 7:39Speaker 2: you don't want to be a dictator making all the rules,
- 7:41Speaker 2: but you want everybody to respect him. And so I
- 7:43Speaker 2: think you're right. This is like the Genesis of the Cody.
- 7:47Speaker 2: We know now being this weird narcissistic dictator. I mean,
- 7:51Speaker 2: he's always been a bit of an.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Arc, but like, it's just, it's becoming malignant. It's metastasized
- 7:58Speaker 1: throughout the family for sure.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And then after breakfast, we head to the beach and,
- 8:03Speaker 2: And this is where we have like a small argument
- 8:05Speaker 2: between Cody and Christine about setting up the umbrellas because
- 8:09Speaker 2: Cody wanted to set up the umbrellas farther away on
- 8:12Speaker 2: the beach where the sand was really hot. Mary and
- 8:15Speaker 2: Christine had a little discussion about how that was stupid.
- 8:18Speaker 2: And Christine says something like we should move faster. closer
- 8:21Speaker 2: to the water. It just makes more sense that way.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And then Mary kind of throws Christine under the bus
- 8:26Speaker 2: with it. Again.
- 8:27Speaker 1: She did that at Thanksgiving as well.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And she says again to the camera, it's just easier
- 8:32Speaker 2: for me to have Cody deal with the other wives
- 8:34Speaker 2: when they're mad at him or something, even though I agree.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And then we have a discussion about how when, you know,
- 8:40Speaker 2: more than one sister wife agrees, it's a rule. And
- 8:43Speaker 2: then Cody has to kind of concede. And that goes
- 8:46Speaker 2: to your theory of like, this is when his little
- 8:48Speaker 2: weird patriarchal toxic masculinity power trip started because he does
- 8:55Speaker 2: get outvoted a lot by these women. But I'm like, dude,
- 8:58Speaker 2: you chose this lifestyle with a bunch of independent women.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Right. So I think once he actually divorced Mary, he
- 9:06Speaker 1: saw what was possible. Like, Oh, I could divorce these bitches.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I could be free of them maybe.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And so that's like a little thing that's germinating in
- 9:13Speaker 1: his brain. I do just want to say that the
- 9:16Speaker 1: beach that they went to, is Hapuna Beach. Ooh, you've
- 9:19Speaker 1: been there? And I spent so much of my formative years.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Popping your pussy there?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Popping my pussy in a bikini at Hapuna Beach, babe.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It is such a beautiful beach. I remember like driving
- 9:31Speaker 1: there with my boyfriends and their Camaros and their Irox.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Making out with them.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Their dusters and just making.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Out on the beach.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I was like, oh my God, I have been all
- 9:39Speaker 1: over that beach. Wow.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:42Speaker 1: But it is a beautiful beach.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It looked really, really nice.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It was nice.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I will say. I do miss the Pacific Ocean.
- 9:46Speaker 1: That's my.
- 9:47Speaker 2: That's my home right there.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And then we get back to the rental and then
- 9:52Speaker 2: we have this like weird conversation between Cody and Mary
- 9:55Speaker 2: where Cody takes Mary privately to talk to her. about
- 10:00Speaker 2: how sweet and cool he thought her paintings were.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It was kind of a production the way that he
- 10:05Speaker 1: set it up though because she was in the kitchen
- 10:07Speaker 1: with I don't know who and she was preparing food
- 10:09Speaker 1: and she was doing something and he stops her and
- 10:11Speaker 1: he says, hey, can I talk to you?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And so I'm sure in that moment she was filled
- 10:15Speaker 1: with dread because what's coming? Like am I in trouble?
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Camera of course and so he takes her into another
- 10:21Speaker 1: room and of course it's nothing but forced praise for
- 10:24Speaker 1: her weird paintings it's so stupid you should totally paint
- 10:29Speaker 1: full time yeah i feel like you're an artiste mary i.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Really feel like you're developing your passion mary it's i
- 10:35Speaker 2: just i'm really proud of.
- 10:36Speaker 1: You i'm glad it's not me stick to.
- 10:38Speaker 2: That i have another passion besides me right because i
- 10:41Speaker 2: don't want to be your passion anymore it's I did
- 10:44Speaker 2: find it interesting the way Cody talked about it in
- 10:46Speaker 2: his talking head, though, because he says, you know, that
- 10:49Speaker 2: him and Mary are still struggling a lot and that,
- 10:52Speaker 2: you know, there have been times in their marriage where
- 10:54Speaker 2: it's gotten really, really bad and they had a bit
- 10:56Speaker 2: of a wake up call. But he doesn't say what
- 10:59Speaker 2: the wake up call is. We can only assume that
- 11:01Speaker 2: it's the catfish or something. And then he said something
- 11:05Speaker 2: to the effect of now at this point in their marriage,
- 11:08Speaker 2: he has to be very calculated with everything that he
- 11:12Speaker 2: says to Mary, everything that he does with Mary, because
- 11:15Speaker 2: they're at a weird spot. And I just thought that
- 11:17Speaker 2: was a really interesting way to phrase their marital issues.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Because I don't think he wants to work on anything
- 11:23Speaker 2: really with her. I think he's just... being cordial for
- 11:27Speaker 2: the sake of the show and for the sake of
- 11:30Speaker 2: you know protecting this polygamist image so he can keep
- 11:33Speaker 2: getting paid like i don't think he really cares about
- 11:35Speaker 2: working on their marriage at all whereas mary is trying
- 11:39Speaker 2: in her own you know dumb way a little bit
- 11:42Speaker 2: like look at my paintings i'm part of the family
- 11:44Speaker 2: i still love you.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Well he's definitely still stringing her along yeah and if
- 11:49Speaker 1: the rumors and context are true that he promised her
- 11:53Speaker 1: after the legal divorce, that they would be able to
- 11:57Speaker 1: reconcile and work on their relationship and connect again. Like
- 12:02Speaker 1: you can kind of see this in Mary really wanting
- 12:05Speaker 1: that and hoping that actually happens, but you can see
- 12:07Speaker 1: also Cody actually pulling away. And so it was a
- 12:11Speaker 1: total bait and switch. 100%.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And it's just odd to me because then he said
- 12:15Speaker 2: something else in his talking head about how you know,
- 12:18Speaker 2: to be fair to their history together, all of their
- 12:21Speaker 2: years that they spent married, that they just need time
- 12:25Speaker 2: for all of this like pain and antagonism to just
- 12:28Speaker 2: wash away. And I'm like, okay, well then you need
- 12:31Speaker 2: to like do your part in that. Like maybe you
- 12:32Speaker 2: need to work on your forgiveness of Mary and, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 2: try to be fair to her with all of these
- 12:38Speaker 2: years that you guys have spent together. Because it seems
- 12:40Speaker 2: like at this point, Mary is trying to do that.
- 12:42Speaker 2: She's really trying to rectify it. I'm sure she's turbo embarrassed.
- 12:47Speaker 2: and ashamed by her actions and being outed on national
- 12:51Speaker 2: TV and across the country. So it's just, it's just
- 12:54Speaker 2: weird to me that we're just doing this dance and
- 12:57Speaker 2: pretending like they're working on things.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:59Speaker 2: And it also seemed like Mary was like, so like
- 13:02Speaker 2: once she found out that Cody wanted to talk to
- 13:04Speaker 2: her about her dumb paintings, it seemed like she was so,
- 13:07Speaker 2: like happy about that.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Like, oh my God, you notice me. It's a crumb.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's a scrap. She gets nothing. Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's like really pathetic. I'm sorry. I don't, I don't
- 13:15Speaker 2: want to. It is pathetic.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Why are you sorry? That's exactly what it is. But
- 13:18Speaker 1: none of these women really have any self-worth.
- 13:21Speaker 2: No, they don't.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It's sad. So she's on a journey to find herself
- 13:24Speaker 1: in a few years, hopefully.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 2: She does eventually.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Sort of. Kind of. Did you see the new AI? Girl.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Did you see the new AI?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Of the 80s night?
- 13:33Speaker 1: Poster of... Mary for her 80s night upcoming in Pleasant City,
- 13:39Speaker 1: Utah or something. I just felt like the AI reproduced
- 13:43Speaker 1: her hair perfectly.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I know. Her hair is perfect.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I'm just like, it is so cringe. And still, there's
- 13:50Speaker 1: no location. It's just the town that it's being held in.
- 13:53Speaker 1: She knows we want to go so bad.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I know.
- 13:55Speaker 1: She knows we're going to be showing up.
- 13:56Speaker 2: She's not releasing it.
- 13:57Speaker 1: In our wigs. Because we go Go Hood.
- 14:00Speaker 2: We should go.
- 14:01Speaker 1: We should go. I would love to go. It would
- 14:02Speaker 1: be so awesome. If only I could walk.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I know.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Maybe we will go.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I can wheel you in a wheelchair.
- 14:07Speaker 1: The party is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's a little late for some senior citizens.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It is a little late. You could wheel me in
- 14:18Speaker 1: and I would party. It would be so fun anyway. Oh,
- 14:20Speaker 1: my God.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Ridiculous. And so then after Cody and Mary's very serious talk. Sure.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Then it's like the next day, I think.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Cody or not Cody Mary Janelle and Brianna want to
- 14:33Speaker 2: play a little prank on Leon and this is where
- 14:35Speaker 2: they draw their eyebrows on really thick and it was
- 14:38Speaker 2: originally Brianna and Mary's idea and then they kind of
- 14:42Speaker 2: roped Janelle into it because they thought Janelle would think
- 14:44Speaker 2: it was funny and sure enough Janelle is busting up
- 14:47Speaker 2: laughing she thinks it's great she draws her eyebrows on
- 14:51Speaker 2: super thick and it was actually kind of a sweet
- 14:54Speaker 2: little moment between Janelle and Mary in particular like you
- 14:57Speaker 2: know this is the kind of thing that maybe nancy
- 14:59Speaker 2: was talking about in their dumb therapy session that you
- 15:02Speaker 2: can do something together and they ultimately did and you
- 15:04Speaker 2: know when they all three draw their eyebrows on they
- 15:07Speaker 2: go up to leon and leon is just such a
- 15:10Speaker 2: stink face totally with a fucking toad all the time i.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Think they see the eyebrows they do but they just
- 15:18Speaker 1: keep walking they just don't react to do not.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Care yeah and then finally when they point it out
- 15:22Speaker 2: to leon leon's like That's stupid. And they don't even
- 15:25Speaker 2: really laugh. They kind of giggle a little bit, but
- 15:27Speaker 2: they're not really like into it. I'm just like, man,
- 15:30Speaker 2: the way I want to just slap Leon sometimes. Because
- 15:35Speaker 2: I'm just like, just laugh about it. It's funny. Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And Leon does laugh with Janelle.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And with Brianna. But it's Mary that Leon is like swerving.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah. And I guess I can kind of understand because
- 15:49Speaker 2: Leon's still mad at Mary right now. so i get
- 15:53Speaker 2: it but also like throw your mom a bone come
- 15:56Speaker 2: on like life's too short to be so angry but
- 15:59Speaker 2: whatever who am i just a bitch on the internet
- 16:02Speaker 2: in a wig and then later on i think that
- 16:05Speaker 2: day maddie and caleb gather the whole family around and
- 16:10Speaker 2: maddie proceeds to low-key lecture the whole family about her
- 16:14Speaker 2: wedding and her plan she's like y'all better be on
- 16:17Speaker 2: fucking The wedding starts at 4 p.m. sharp. If you're
- 16:21Speaker 2: even a minute late, you're not in the wedding. Period.
- 16:24Speaker 2: End of story. You guys need to get there two
- 16:26Speaker 2: days early because I'm not dealing with y'all coming in
- 16:29Speaker 2: the last minute. It was kind of funny because she's
- 16:31Speaker 2: telling her family, like, get your shit together. And she's
- 16:33Speaker 2: mainly looking at the parents who are chronically always late
- 16:36Speaker 2: to literally everything. And then Maddie asks Cody... to officiate
- 16:41Speaker 2: for her wedding. And Cody's reaction to me kind of
- 16:44Speaker 2: surprised me because he wasn't really like happy or honored
- 16:48Speaker 2: in the moment. He says he was, but he.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Looks like, Underwhelmed.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Underwhelmed. Almost a little pissed off to be asked.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Annoyed.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Like, why are you asking me? And in his talking head,
- 16:59Speaker 2: he says he was honored, but that he felt a
- 17:03Speaker 2: wave of terror and fear because, you know, it's intimidating
- 17:07Speaker 2: for him to officiate his daughter's wedding. And then in
- 17:11Speaker 2: the moment he asks them, like, well, I thought Caleb's
- 17:14Speaker 2: dad was going to officiate. And then we have a
- 17:15Speaker 2: discussion about... caleb's parents and unfortunately caleb's mom passed away
- 17:21Speaker 2: a month prior from terminal cancer and so his dad
- 17:25Speaker 2: just doesn't have the emotional bandwidth to do this and
- 17:29Speaker 2: he would actually prefer cody to do it and so
- 17:32Speaker 2: that's the reason why cody's gonna do it he ultimately
- 17:35Speaker 2: does do it but i just thought in the moment
- 17:38Speaker 2: It's kind of a shitty reaction.
- 17:40Speaker 1: It is a shitty reaction. I mean, even if you're
- 17:42Speaker 1: not feeling it, even if you're kind of in a
- 17:44Speaker 1: bad mood, which we go on to have a bit
- 17:46Speaker 1: more of that, like you could at least put on
- 17:48Speaker 1: a game face. This is like the biggest thing in
- 17:50Speaker 1: your daughter's life. And you're just acting terribly in my opinion.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And I just want to say, I officiated Beatrice's wedding
- 17:59Speaker 1: to my daughter.
- 17:59Speaker 2: She did.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You were so cute because you guys asked me if
- 18:02Speaker 1: I would do it. And I was like, oh my God.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I had a little jolt of terror too because I'm like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: oh God. But the way you approached me, it felt
- 18:10Speaker 1: at the time like really casual. Maybe it was Alyssa. Yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 1: it would be fun. We'll come over. You know, you
- 18:16Speaker 1: can officiate. But I took that so seriously.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I know you did. You went online.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I went online. I was like researching speeches and vows
- 18:25Speaker 1: and all of the things. And then when we did it,
- 18:27Speaker 1: it was actually so lovely.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 1: In my opinion. I thought it was too. I'm not
- 18:31Speaker 1: talking about me, but like just the entire community. vibration
- 18:34Speaker 1: of it was just so lovely and my husband was
- 18:36Speaker 1: there it was just such a wonderful moment.
- 18:39Speaker 2: It was nice it was really low-key thank.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You for asking me what an honor and I felt
- 18:43Speaker 1: it in the moment when you asked me I'm like
- 18:45Speaker 1: oh my god that's a huge honor and I hope
- 18:47Speaker 1: that I expressed that unlike Cody.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You did I don't remember you having a bad attitude.
- 18:52Speaker 1: At all no I was so honored I was a
- 18:54Speaker 1: little scared but I'm like I could do.
- 18:55Speaker 2: This yeah And I think we gave you time too.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It wasn't like we were like, can we do it tomorrow?
- 18:59Speaker 1: No. Yeah, you did.
- 19:00Speaker 2: You had also been begging us to get married for
- 19:02Speaker 2: like months prior to that.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Was I?
- 19:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I literally have screenshots. I still have screenshots from like
- 19:07Speaker 2: 2016 of you texting me being like, when are you
- 19:09Speaker 2: and my daughter going.
- 19:10Speaker 1: To get married?
- 19:11Speaker 2: We can go to Vegas. Totally.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I was into it.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And here we are a million years later. And so
- 19:18Speaker 2: then the next day, the family goes.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I love you.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Oh, I love you too.
- 19:21Speaker 1: You're so precious to me. Oh my God, what a
- 19:23Speaker 1: gift you are.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Don't get back to the recap.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Oh my God. And so anyway, we go back the
- 19:29Speaker 2: next day to the beach because we're going to shred
- 19:32Speaker 2: the gnar, as Christine says.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Oh God, yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 2: We go surfing as a family. We learn how to
- 19:38Speaker 2: surf from some surf shack or something. And then Mary
- 19:43Speaker 2: runs over Leon with her surfboard, which I thought was
- 19:45Speaker 2: kind of funny. And they make it really dramatic in
- 19:48Speaker 2: the show.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But it wasn't that big of a deal. of a deal.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Like Leon got hurt. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Like Leon didn't even care. It was actually pretty great.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And Leon does laugh kind of about it. And Mary
- 19:57Speaker 2: laughs about it. And that was kind of a nice
- 19:59Speaker 2: moment to break a little bit of the tension between them,
- 20:02Speaker 2: but it's still there.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, indeed. Don't forget.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It's still there. And so then it's like their last
- 20:08Speaker 2: night in Hawaii, uh, Um, and we'll actually know it's
- 20:11Speaker 2: like the second to last night because we're talking about
- 20:13Speaker 2: the luau, which is going to be hosted by the hosts,
- 20:17Speaker 2: I guess, of the house that they're renting. And this
- 20:20Speaker 2: is where Cody has a bit of his crash out
- 20:23Speaker 2: because we're like in the living room and, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 2: Janelle's super lax. She's sitting there with some of the kids.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Some of the kids are napping on the couch and
- 20:29Speaker 2: playing with Legos or whatever. And she's just like, yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 2: I'm like really excited for the luau. There's going to
- 20:33Speaker 2: be pork. And, you know, I'm really excited. I haven't
- 20:36Speaker 2: like had pork in a very, very long time. And
- 20:38Speaker 2: You know, Logan says it too. He's like, I'm super
- 20:40Speaker 2: excited for some pork. Like, I'm all about it. But
- 20:43Speaker 2: Cody is over there with his bald spot building Legos,
- 20:47Speaker 2: and he's bitching about it the whole time. Like, he
- 20:49Speaker 2: says the craziest shit. He's like, well, nobody asked my
- 20:52Speaker 2: permission to do this. And, you know, I'm... like not
- 20:56Speaker 2: eating pork. There's not going to be nothing for me
- 20:58Speaker 2: to eat. And Janelle's like, there's going to be other shit,
- 21:01Speaker 2: like calm down a little bit, you baby. And he's like,
- 21:04Speaker 2: what other food is there going to be like poi?
- 21:07Speaker 2: I'm not eating that crap either.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Oh gosh, please. Americans stop going to other countries. But
- 21:14Speaker 1: I mean, obviously Hawaii is a state or whatever, but
- 21:17Speaker 1: like stop going to foreign places and then eschewing their
- 21:21Speaker 1: food or acting like an absolute toddler when they are
- 21:27Speaker 1: pulling out all the stops and rolling out the red
- 21:30Speaker 1: carpet for you. Like that's a huge undertaking to put
- 21:34Speaker 1: a pig in an emu, to cook it all day,
- 21:37Speaker 1: to prepare the poi, to prepare the lau lau that
- 21:41Speaker 1: I saw that they had and the lomi lomi. Oh
- 21:43Speaker 1: my God. It was just like, you know, again, I'm
- 21:45Speaker 1: on my macro setting. I am in the cut. I'm
- 21:47Speaker 1: just like the way I would tear into all of
- 21:50Speaker 1: that food. At least the brown boys on the couch
- 21:54Speaker 1: had the decency to say that food was really good.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It was Hawaiian food is awesome. And it is, it's
- 22:00Speaker 1: tasty as hell.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It's so stupid to me. Like you can have your
- 22:03Speaker 2: own like religious views or even your own dietary restriction.
- 22:06Speaker 2: That's fine. But like to shit all over, like, I
- 22:09Speaker 2: don't want to say a culture, but a culture is food.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Indeed it's a culture.
- 22:13Speaker 2: You know, to shit all over that when you're, a
- 22:16Speaker 2: guest there is so offensive to me. Like, don't go. Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know why you're bitching about it.
- 22:22Speaker 2: And it wasn't just the pork. He was shitting on
- 22:23Speaker 2: poi too. And I was asking your daughter about it.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Cause I know she's had poi and didn't she have
- 22:28Speaker 2: poi when she was a little baby?
- 22:29Speaker 1: She was weaned on poi. She was weaned on poi. My,
- 22:32Speaker 1: my friends sent me bags and bags and bags of
- 22:35Speaker 1: pois cause she, cause she wouldn't sleep. So I started
- 22:38Speaker 1: giving her poi in her bottle and And she slept
- 22:42Speaker 1: for like eight or nine hours a night. It changed
- 22:45Speaker 1: my life. Poi changed my life. I was weaned on Poi.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Is it something you only give babies?
- 22:51Speaker 1: No, you eat it as a side in every meal.
- 22:53Speaker 1: It's really healthy for you.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Really?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yes, it's very, very healthy for you.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I've never had it, but I would totally be willing
- 22:58Speaker 2: to try it.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I just was curious. I mean, I think if you
- 23:01Speaker 1: tried it, you would think it was maybe a bit
- 23:02Speaker 1: of a tasteless paste. I know when I was growing up,
- 23:06Speaker 1: we put sugar in it. We sweetened it somewhat. I mean,
- 23:09Speaker 1: it's not like grits at all because it's smoother than that.
- 23:11Speaker 1: But like if grits isn't doctored up with sugar or
- 23:15Speaker 1: butter or whatever, it's pretty tasteless, right? So very similar,
- 23:18Speaker 1: but you can eat it with the pig and you
- 23:20Speaker 1: can eat it with the lau lau. I was going
- 23:22Speaker 1: to ask if you could eat it with stuff. Yes,
- 23:24Speaker 1: you could eat it with stuff and it is just
- 23:26Speaker 1: so delicious and very nutritious as well. So my little daughter...
- 23:29Speaker 1: She had her poi in her bottle. She slept all night.
- 23:32Speaker 1: She was so happy. Oh my gosh. Yes.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I just, I thought Cody's such a bitch for this.
- 23:38Speaker 1: And it is, it's a kind of a cornerstone aspect
- 23:42Speaker 1: of Hawaiian food.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Like it is very culturally relevant to the people. So
- 23:47Speaker 1: to shit all over it and be like, Oh God,
- 23:49Speaker 1: that shit is, Oh, I just wanted to punch him.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I wanted to roundhouse kick him right in his bald spot.
- 23:56Speaker 2: It's so annoying to me. And like, I don't know
- 23:58Speaker 2: if it's just an American thing where Americans go to
- 24:00Speaker 2: other countries and like shit all over their food, but
- 24:02Speaker 2: it feels like it's mainly an American thing. Maybe.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I mean, the Americans are talking about it because we're
- 24:06Speaker 1: in America, but yeah, we need to stop doing that.
- 24:09Speaker 2: It's so annoying.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Especially like Polynesian cultures where they're so gracious and welcoming
- 24:15Speaker 1: and loving.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Like they're putting all of this on for you and
- 24:19Speaker 2: you're going to throw fits.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Tonga. I've been to Samoa. I've been to Fiji. I've
- 24:24Speaker 1: eaten with indigenous people because I used to be a
- 24:26Speaker 1: hoe ass missionary. Don't even let me get into it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But like I've eaten with a lot of different indigenous
- 24:31Speaker 1: people and they, I've been to some villages and they,
- 24:35Speaker 1: they don't have much, you know what I mean? They
- 24:37Speaker 1: bathe in the Creek. They live in literal huts. They
- 24:41Speaker 1: pull out all the stops to have a huge celebration.
- 24:44Speaker 1: They play music. They give you their best indigenous foods
- 24:47Speaker 1: and And you and it's always good, by the way.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It's always super duper delicious. But like you, you have
- 24:53Speaker 1: to honor them in return. So anyway, this is just
- 24:56Speaker 1: solidifies in my mind how ain't shit Cody is.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he ain't shit. And also Janelle Loki ain't shit
- 25:03Speaker 2: because to the couch or on the couch, she was
- 25:05Speaker 2: kind of defending Cody and being like, oh, he's just tired.
- 25:08Speaker 2: He's really crabby and grouchy.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Okay, he's literally like 46. Yeah, grow up. Oh my God.
- 25:15Speaker 1: You toddler.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Literally acting like a toddler.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I hate him so much.
- 25:18Speaker 2: And then he tries to save face at the end
- 25:19Speaker 2: of it being like, well, it is their island. It's
- 25:22Speaker 2: not my island. And I'm like, yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 1: You got that right. Stop being a bitch.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Stop being a little bitch baby brat.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I mean, what is there redeeming about Cody Brown?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Literally nothing.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There's absolutely nothing.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Literally nothing. I also thought it was weird to me
- 25:35Speaker 2: that the reason why he doesn't eat pork is because
- 25:37Speaker 2: of his religious beliefs. And so normally this is like
- 25:41Speaker 2: what they consider a Jewish culture.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Thing yeah but he's kind of a fetishist about kind
- 25:46Speaker 1: of jewish stuff right because it's not just the pork
- 25:49Speaker 1: thing he wanted his family to celebrate hanukkah.
- 25:51Speaker 2: And stuff like that and other jewish holidays yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And he does like the prayers the jewish prayers over
- 25:56Speaker 1: the table and stuff but.
- 25:58Speaker 2: They're fundamentalist mormon and according to janelle when she's telling
- 26:02Speaker 2: everybody about his religious beliefs like cody believes that he
- 26:07Speaker 2: would be closer to jesus if he doesn't eat pork
- 26:09Speaker 2: and i'm just like okay.
- 26:11Speaker 1: And if jesus were here jesus wouldn't be eating pork
- 26:13Speaker 1: You know what? I think if Jesus went to a luau,
- 26:17Speaker 1: he would be chowing down on that pig.
- 26:19Speaker 2: That's kind of what I'm thinking.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I don't know. That's just me.
- 26:23Speaker 2: If there's no parasites in it, too, because we're cooking
- 26:25Speaker 2: it thoroughly. That's right. Like, isn't that the whole point?
- 26:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I just thought it was so weird to me. And, like,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I don't want to shit on people for, like, their
- 26:32Speaker 2: religious beliefs. Again, like, if you don't. eat pork like
- 26:35Speaker 2: that's fine if it's part of your religious beliefs i'm
- 26:37Speaker 2: just shitting on cody for this yeah because of the
- 26:39Speaker 2: way he acted because he's the only one that's like
- 26:42Speaker 2: protesting it because i'm sure robin didn't eat pork because
- 26:45Speaker 2: she probably adopted cody's beliefs as well but she's not
- 26:49Speaker 2: making a stink about it and nobody else in the
- 26:52Speaker 2: family's making a stink about.
- 26:53Speaker 1: It it's just ungrateful and turbo white behavior totally sorry
- 26:58Speaker 1: i'm white but you know what i'm saying like well
- 27:00Speaker 1: i grew up in the islands though and we'd have
- 27:02Speaker 1: these white people these howley's these tourists come in and
- 27:06Speaker 1: not pay the appropriate respects for the things that they
- 27:11Speaker 1: were given, you know, and the Aloha spirit, at least
- 27:14Speaker 1: back then, I don't know. I haven't been in quite
- 27:15Speaker 1: a while, but the Aloha spirit is a real thing.
- 27:17Speaker 1: People are nice. They are giving you lays. They are
- 27:20Speaker 1: helping you get to where you want to go. They
- 27:23Speaker 1: are kind people. And then you just have somebody like
- 27:25Speaker 1: Cody Brown, take it all for granted. It just sucks.
- 27:28Speaker 1: rips me the wrong way raccoons.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Too and just like a little sidebar there's this guy
- 27:33Speaker 2: i've been watching on instagram he's going viral right now
- 27:36Speaker 2: so some people might know but he's this dude who's
- 27:38Speaker 2: going to like all of these really booty ass chinese
- 27:41Speaker 2: buffets around the country and he's like i'm doing it
- 27:43Speaker 2: until i get food poisoning and he goes to all
- 27:46Speaker 2: these chinese buffets and it's more of like a comedy
- 27:48Speaker 2: thing but he goes to show some of these really
- 27:52Speaker 2: booty ass buffets that have like really low stars on
- 27:55Speaker 2: yelp Anyway, every single time he goes to one, they're
- 27:58Speaker 2: serving like everything but Chinese food. And to this point
- 28:01Speaker 2: of like, we're in America, like they're, they're catering to
- 28:04Speaker 2: like all these like white people who don't want to
- 28:07Speaker 2: eat Chinese food.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Like orange chicken.
- 28:09Speaker 2: No, they're like serving pizza and fries and like stuffed
- 28:13Speaker 2: mushrooms and like weird shit like that. And I'm just like,
- 28:15Speaker 2: this is a Chinese buffet. Right. And it's just kind of,
- 28:18Speaker 2: it brings that conversation about like, you know, if you
- 28:20Speaker 2: want these other cultures to come to America and like
- 28:22Speaker 2: we're a big melting pot, then like enjoy the food.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Don't like Americanize it because you don't want to eat
- 28:30Speaker 2: the weird Chinese food. I don't know. I just think
- 28:32Speaker 2: it's annoying.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Well, did you hear about that American that went to
- 28:35Speaker 1: Italy and made some sort of a TikTok about how
- 28:37Speaker 1: the food was really trashed there? Because all they do
- 28:40Speaker 1: is eat pasta. They don't have like protein. They don't
- 28:43Speaker 1: have protein powder. Stop it. It's just like, God, we
- 28:47Speaker 1: are so uncouth. I cannot with us.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Why are we like this?
- 28:51Speaker 1: Is it bad that I said that he was white?
- 28:53Speaker 1: I mean, obviously he is white. I don't mean to
- 28:55Speaker 1: make a racial divide. I realize this world is really
- 28:58Speaker 1: toxic on that point, but I'm just like, in terms
- 29:01Speaker 1: of a culture thing, like white people coming to a
- 29:03Speaker 1: place where brown people live and have lived for hundreds
- 29:07Speaker 1: of years, like that's just the wrong, you need to
- 29:09Speaker 1: be sensitive about where you're going and the spaces you're entering.
- 29:13Speaker 2: For real.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Okay. I'll leave it there. Based.
- 29:16Speaker 2: And so the end of the episode is after the
- 29:19Speaker 2: luau where Cody doesn't eat anything because he's crying about
- 29:22Speaker 2: it in the corner. He's eating some lettuce or something.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And he's watching bitterly as all his boys eat it.
- 29:27Speaker 1: And Janelle, everybody doesn't give a fuck what his beliefs are.
- 29:30Speaker 1: They just chow down on the pig.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Nobody cares about you, General Cody Brown. We're going to
- 29:34Speaker 2: eat some fucking, What did you call it? Cacao pig?
- 29:37Speaker 1: Kahlua pig.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Kahlua pig. Sorry.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I'm offensive. No, that's okay.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I'm just a white person over here.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It's not offensive at all. It's Kahlua pig, yeah. Cacao pig.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It is the best thing in the world. I want
- 29:46Speaker 1: it so bad. The way I am... Totally lobbying my
- 29:50Speaker 1: husband to build an emu in my backyard. Why wouldn't you?
- 29:53Speaker 1: You're strong and you build things. Can't you just build
- 29:55Speaker 1: us an emu?
- 29:56Speaker 2: So that way we can roast a pig and then
- 29:58Speaker 2: I can have some?
- 29:59Speaker 3: Yes, bitch.
- 29:59Speaker 1: We could have a block party. It would be so fantastic. Oh, yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 2: That would be so great.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. You've had pulled pork. Nothing like having pig
- 30:06Speaker 1: from an emu. Nothing like it.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I want it so bad. And so after the luau,
- 30:13Speaker 2: we start packing up because it's their last night in Hawaii.
- 30:16Speaker 2: They're going to be heading home. And McKelty decides that
- 30:19Speaker 2: this is the best time to tell Christine that she's
- 30:21Speaker 2: madly in love with Too Many Tacos Tony. We all
- 30:24Speaker 2: kind of saw it coming as soon as she moved
- 30:26Speaker 2: to St. George. And she even says it. She like
- 30:28Speaker 2: met Tony like, I don't know, a week or something
- 30:31Speaker 2: after moving to St. George. And she fell in love
- 30:33Speaker 2: with him. And so she tells Christine that they're very serious.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And she's like super in love with him. And she
- 30:39Speaker 2: wants Christine to ask Cody... if he would be okay
- 30:43Speaker 2: with them getting married.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Or just like talking to Tony. Tony wants to talk
- 30:47Speaker 1: to Cody. Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 2: And like, Christine's like, you mean you're that serious? And
- 30:52Speaker 2: McKelvey's like, um, yeah. And like, we're not going to
- 30:53Speaker 2: get married tomorrow, but like pretty soon, like within a
- 30:55Speaker 2: couple months.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Right. So timeline check, this is spring break. So we're
- 31:00Speaker 1: probably talking March. Maddie's getting married in June. Yep. Right.
- 31:05Speaker 1: And they're rushing to make this wedding happen. And so
- 31:08Speaker 1: McKelty is saying a couple of months. So you're talking
- 31:11Speaker 1: about June.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Literally.
- 31:12Speaker 1: She's talking about like right around the same time as Maddie.
- 31:15Speaker 1: So I know in season 11, we're going to have
- 31:17Speaker 1: conversations with McKelty where we try to get her to
- 31:20Speaker 1: push it out some to a winter wedding or something
- 31:22Speaker 1: like that. But the fact that she thinks it's okay
- 31:25Speaker 1: to come in and try, I'm sure she's not trying
- 31:27Speaker 1: to steal Maddie's thunder, but like just to, well, just
- 31:30Speaker 1: to not even think I guess about the ramifications of that.
- 31:34Speaker 1: It's just like, Oh gosh, my little immature McKelty.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah. That's my thing. It's like, I don't think there's
- 31:40Speaker 2: anything wrong with being in Lerve, especially when you're young.
- 31:44Speaker 2: It's so magical and fun and amazing. And I totally
- 31:48Speaker 2: was a teen bride.
- 31:49Speaker 1: You totally were. You were.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I mean, I think I was barely 20, but like,
- 31:54Speaker 2: you know, I got with your daughter really young. We
- 31:56Speaker 2: were 19 and I totally was like this. I was super, like,
- 32:00Speaker 2: hard eyes.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, you were sprung.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I was so sprung, and I was super happy about it,
- 32:05Speaker 2: and I was like, I'm gonna marry her no matter
- 32:07Speaker 2: what anybody tells me, and there were a lot of
- 32:09Speaker 2: people that told me not to do it.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But I did it anyway, and we got married really fast,
- 32:13Speaker 2: and so I understand McKelty being excited, and obviously she's
- 32:17Speaker 2: still with him, and they have kids together, and I
- 32:19Speaker 2: think that's great. I do think that Christine's reaction was
- 32:23Speaker 2: pretty lame compared to maddie's because christine and they even
- 32:28Speaker 2: show the flashback of maddie telling the family she's dating
- 32:32Speaker 2: a dude who's like 30 right and she's barely 18
- 32:37Speaker 2: she's with this 30 year old and christine literally leaps
- 32:40Speaker 2: out of her chair and jumps over for joy and
- 32:42Speaker 2: screams and so i think that it's lame that christine
- 32:46Speaker 2: was so shocked by it and almost disapproving in the moment.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Very much so and to the camera definitely disapproving definitely
- 32:56Speaker 1: doesn't think that mckelty is ready isn't ready to have
- 32:59Speaker 1: a serious conversation about how christine actually really feels about
- 33:03Speaker 1: it and i wanted to ask you and everybody else
- 33:05Speaker 1: has christine met tony at this point because the way
- 33:09Speaker 1: it's being presented on the show is it seems that
- 33:12Speaker 1: they have not met yet. So he, she doesn't even
- 33:14Speaker 1: know who Tony is.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Like once she meets him and dislikes him, that I get. Sure.
- 33:19Speaker 1: That I understand. But like, she's not even met him
- 33:21Speaker 1: to form an opinion that it's a bad idea. And
- 33:23Speaker 1: that's based on how she views Her daughter.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And that's what it is.
- 33:28Speaker 2: And she's totally disparaging McKelty in her talking heads about
- 33:32Speaker 2: how she's super immature. Like this was her point. This
- 33:35Speaker 2: was her playtime in St. George. Like it wasn't her
- 33:38Speaker 2: time to get with somebody, to marry somebody. She was
- 33:41Speaker 2: supposed to just be a kid and fuck around. And,
- 33:44Speaker 2: you know, I think that's fine to want that for
- 33:47Speaker 2: your kid to like, you know, live a little bit
- 33:50Speaker 2: more life before you settle down. I understand that that's
- 33:53Speaker 2: a lot of parents' concerns, especially when their kids get married. But, like,
- 33:56Speaker 2: I don't know. It just seems like Christine judges her
- 33:58Speaker 2: own kid harshly when, like, Maddie literally was 18 getting
- 34:02Speaker 2: with a 30-year-old.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Well, it's not just that it's her kid because I
- 34:06Speaker 1: think if Aspen came to her and had a boyfriend
- 34:09Speaker 1: and was serious and was contemplating marriage, I think Christine
- 34:12Speaker 1: would have a different opinion about it because it's Aspen.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I think there's something about McKelty. And let's be honest here.
- 34:19Speaker 1: McKelty is more childlike. She is, I would say, naive
- 34:25Speaker 1: and probably immature and definitely so gung-ho because this is
- 34:29Speaker 1: maybe the first time she's been in love. And I
- 34:31Speaker 1: think she says... I don't remember where she said it.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It could have been on cults to consciousness, but maybe
- 34:35Speaker 1: in this episode, she talks about how she had been
- 34:37Speaker 1: with people before who were not good to her at all.
- 34:40Speaker 1: And that Tony treats her so wonderfully and that she's
- 34:43Speaker 1: so happy. So it is naive. You know, it is
- 34:45Speaker 1: very innocent. There's just a different way as a mom
- 34:49Speaker 1: that you would handle that. For example, when my daughter
- 34:52Speaker 1: came to me and she's 20 years old or however
- 34:55Speaker 1: old she was, she was younger than you. Yeah, a
- 34:56Speaker 1: little bit. Because you were a cradle robber.
- 34:58Speaker 2: By three months.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I know. So she came to me and she brought
- 35:02Speaker 1: it up or whatever. And, you know, I had the
- 35:04Speaker 1: thoughts like, well, you know, I got married the first
- 35:06Speaker 1: time when I was 18. That didn't work out. But
- 35:10Speaker 1: I didn't piss all over her dream. Yeah. And I
- 35:14Speaker 1: definitely was happy for her. And like you said, I
- 35:16Speaker 1: was already texting you to get married to my daughter.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But I mean, I just I would be so careful
- 35:21Speaker 1: in a moment like that with your child because their
- 35:24Speaker 1: whole heart is on the line and their dreams and
- 35:26Speaker 1: their wishes. And like as parents, you need to be
- 35:28Speaker 1: very careful about with how you treat your child in
- 35:31Speaker 1: those moments. And Christine, I think didn't do that.
- 35:34Speaker 2: No. And I felt really bad for McKelty because she
- 35:37Speaker 2: did literally say she wanted her mom to react the
- 35:40Speaker 2: same way that Maddie did. And when she didn't, it
- 35:44Speaker 2: really hurt her feelings and you could tell it hurt
- 35:46Speaker 2: her feelings. And, you know, regardless of McKelty being immature
- 35:51Speaker 2: or dumb or annoying or just naive, Like, it's still her,
- 35:56Speaker 2: like you said, it's her dream. And, like, you shouldn't
- 35:58Speaker 2: just shit all over it just because you're worried about it. And, like,
- 36:02Speaker 2: you know, Christine probably at this point in time might
- 36:07Speaker 2: be thinking about her own marriage, too, in the context of, like, McKelty. Like,
- 36:11Speaker 2: how she kind of jumped into this relationship with Cody
- 36:13Speaker 2: really young when she was also naive and stupid.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 2: And immature. And obviously things are not going well for
- 36:19Speaker 2: Christine right now because she's probably on opiates at this point.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Well, did you see the pill bottles in the background?
- 36:25Speaker 2: I was kind of thinking about it from that context.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Cause like when I got with your daughter, um, Nobody
- 36:31Speaker 2: really approved on my side for a while because they
- 36:34Speaker 2: were like very dubious of it. And like I had
- 36:36Speaker 2: had people in my family get married really young and
- 36:38Speaker 2: obviously they got divorced. And, you know, they always told
- 36:41Speaker 2: me it would be a mistake and it's the wrong
- 36:43Speaker 2: thing to do. But I was one of those kids
- 36:45Speaker 2: that was stubborn, first of all, and independent. And I'm like,
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'm going to do what I want to do. so
- 36:50Speaker 2: you can fuck off. Like that was kind of my
- 36:52Speaker 2: mentality all through my teens. But I also had the
- 36:55Speaker 2: mentality of like, even if I'm making a mistake, can
- 36:58Speaker 2: you just let me make the mistake though? Sure. Like,
- 37:00Speaker 2: can you just let me like do it? And then
- 37:03Speaker 2: if I end up fucking up or failing or whatever,
- 37:06Speaker 2: then I know I can learn that lesson for myself.
- 37:09Speaker 2: And I think that's what you mean. Like when you're
- 37:11Speaker 2: saying there's a delicate position you have to be in
- 37:13Speaker 2: as a parent, Because you probably know that you probably
- 37:16Speaker 2: think that in your mind of like, maybe it's a
- 37:17Speaker 2: mistake or maybe they're going to fail or whatever, but
- 37:20Speaker 2: you kind of have to let them, especially when they're older.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Like McKelty's 19. She's not fully like her brain's not
- 37:26Speaker 2: fully formed, but like, just let her, let her marry
- 37:28Speaker 2: too many tacos, Tony.
- 37:30Speaker 1: You ain't going to be able to stop her. I'll
- 37:31Speaker 1: tell you that right now in season 11, we're going
- 37:33Speaker 1: to get into it.
- 37:35Speaker 2: And I think the only thing that makes this really
- 37:37Speaker 2: inappropriate on McKelty's part is, like, girl, you want to
- 37:40Speaker 2: get married right around the same time that Maddie's getting married?
- 37:42Speaker 1: That's kind of strange, no?
- 37:43Speaker 2: Maybe chill out. I think she is kind of trying
- 37:46Speaker 2: to compete because she's a little jealous that, like, everybody's
- 37:48Speaker 2: putting all of this attention into Maddie. And, like, the
- 37:51Speaker 2: family really is gung-ho about it. Like, they're getting the
- 37:55Speaker 2: big venue. They're going dress shopping. Like, they're planning everything out. Like,
- 37:58Speaker 2: it's a really big deal. And so I think McKelty
- 38:01Speaker 2: wants that.
- 38:02Speaker 1: But, like, girl. And that's... derived from a deeper urge
- 38:08Speaker 1: inside of mckelty to just be the special child in
- 38:11Speaker 1: the family which she has never been and to be
- 38:14Speaker 1: celebrated on that kind of level which she has never
- 38:17Speaker 1: been because she has been the black sheep the entire
- 38:20Speaker 1: time and she's hoping that hey maybe this is the
- 38:22Speaker 1: way that it can be about me for once and
- 38:25Speaker 1: they can be so happy for me but like no
- 38:27Speaker 1: the first time you open your mouth you know, Christine's
- 38:30Speaker 1: not happy for you and she's not going to be
- 38:32Speaker 1: happy for you for quite some time at all.
- 38:35Speaker 2: And that's, what's really sad about this whole thing. And,
- 38:37Speaker 2: you know, it kind of shows why McKelty is out
- 38:40Speaker 2: in North Carolina, not really fucking with anybody in the
- 38:42Speaker 2: family too much and doesn't really talk to Christine that much.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I mean, I think she still has a relationship with her,
- 38:48Speaker 2: but like, I doubt they're that close and you can
- 38:51Speaker 2: see why.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yes, you can.
- 38:54Speaker 2: And so then we didn't really have a preview for
- 38:56Speaker 2: next week's season or next season, season 11. We didn't
- 38:59Speaker 2: even have a tell all this season because it was
- 39:01Speaker 2: so boring.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 2: But I am excited to get into the wedding drama
- 39:06Speaker 2: because I do know there's a lot of like Tony
- 39:08Speaker 2: drama too that I've never really seen before. Really? I
- 39:11Speaker 2: haven't seen like the too many tacos thing.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Oh gosh.
- 39:14Speaker 2: So I'm kind of excited to see him.
- 39:16Speaker 1: You don't remember him suggesting that they just take a
- 39:19Speaker 1: second mortgage out on their house to fund his marriage?
- 39:22Speaker 2: So I can't wait for that.
- 39:24Speaker 1: He was so terrible. I remember watching and just being like,
- 39:26Speaker 1: who is this frog of a man with all of this?
- 39:30Speaker 1: his entitlements and his demands kick this frog to the
- 39:33Speaker 1: curb oh.
- 39:33Speaker 2: My god is he unemployed at this period of time working.
- 39:36Speaker 3: On his employed i don't know about it yeah i
- 39:39Speaker 3: don't know anything about it but god bless because they're
- 39:42Speaker 3: still together yep they got three kids yeah they seem
- 39:46Speaker 3: happy and you know what when i see mckelty doing
- 39:49Speaker 3: interviews and podcasts, podcasts, she seems poised.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 1: She's articulate enough. Grown up enough. Yeah. But like, she's also,
- 39:57Speaker 1: it seems like she's being self-reflective and she's looking back
- 40:03Speaker 1: at her life and the way that she's framing it,
- 40:05Speaker 1: for example, as compared to Leon, who just seems really bitter.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 1: And reactive. McKelty really seems to have a good handle
- 40:12Speaker 1: on her life and where she's at and what she wants.
- 40:14Speaker 1: And so I, she came out great out of all
- 40:16Speaker 1: the kids. I mean, she's, she's pretty great. Yeah, I agree.
- 40:20Speaker 2: All right. So I'm excited to watch two episodes of
- 40:22Speaker 2: that before we.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Get back into sister wives, um, season 21, unless we
- 40:29Speaker 1: want to do rewinds at the same time. I don't
- 40:31Speaker 1: know if we want to do that. I kind of
- 40:33Speaker 1: want to focus on my energy on what's happening in
- 40:36Speaker 1: this strange new season that we're about to enter into. Girl,
- 40:40Speaker 1: It's going to be interesting.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Very interesting.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Well, is there anything else we want to say to
- 40:45Speaker 1: these beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here? Beatrice.
- 40:48Speaker 2: If you love our podcast, be sure to do us
- 40:50Speaker 2: a favor. Go to your favorite podcast platform. I said
- 40:53Speaker 2: that wrong. And give us a five-star review. It would
- 40:55Speaker 2: really help us.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Grow the pod.
- 40:57Speaker 2: And we'd really... appreciate it so thank you very.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Much don't forget to check out our video in which
- 41:02Speaker 1: we talk about season 21 and who's on the cast
- 41:05Speaker 1: and who's not and why and our theories and we're
- 41:08Speaker 1: going to get absolutely inappropriate about it totally but that's
- 41:10Speaker 1: just who we are Look for that. We've either already
- 41:13Speaker 1: put it up or it's going to be put up
- 41:14Speaker 1: in a couple of days. We'll be back next week
- 41:17Speaker 1: to continue our sister wives journey. Until then, please not
- 41:21Speaker 1: forget that we have nothing but love for you.
- 41:23Speaker 2: And peace out. Bye.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Bye guys.
