- 1:25Dayna Roselli: What makes it different and why you need to download it?
- 1:28Sean McAllister: Plus, Backstreet Boys will take on the Coliseum at Caesars Palace, BTS will take over Allegiance Stadium, and Cirque du Soleil is back at New York, New York.
- 1:38Sean McAllister: Let's get to it.
- 1:40Sean McAllister: Spin that wheel.
- 1:51Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 107, Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 1:57Sean McAllister: And uh Dana, what a wacky past week it's been here, weather-wise in Las Vegas.
- 2:03Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: For the last few episodes, we've been talking about how warm it has been in Las Vegas.
- 2:08Dayna Roselli: What a beautiful, warm winter we've had.
- 2:10Sean McAllister: I mean, you've been out laying at the pool.
- 2:11Dayna Roselli: Well, and that's the thing.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: I'm thinking literally two weekends in a row, I was at the pool, you know, just laying out with uh some friends, getting some sun.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: It was great, perfect weather for that.
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: 70s, low 70s, and then all of a sudden, gust of wind, and we're back to winter.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: Today feels like fall.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: It's like we just kind of go through all these adjustments.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: And in some ways, it can kind of be uh annoying.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: But what I do like about it is that like it changes up the wardrobe.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: I'm like, oh, I can get some of my sweaters in again, and then I'm like, oh, don't have to worry about trying to fit in, you know, relaxation at the pool.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: Now I can be busy and not feel like I'm missing out.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: Then when it gets nice again, you're like, oh, it's beautiful, let's have a barbecue.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: And then like it is kind of like good for variety.
- 2:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, we did, and you mentioned the wind.
- 2:55Sean McAllister: We had a big like dust storm that blew through.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: The sky was all like murky and hazy, and within the past week, certain parts of the Las Vegas Valley saw snow flurries.
- 3:07Sean McAllister: The rest of us got rain, so it has been wild going from warm to cold.
- 3:13Sean McAllister: And I mean, hopefully the warm comes back quick because pool season officially kicks off in like two weeks.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: It does, you know.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: They've had like all the casting and auditions for all the workers and and they're ready to go.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: And most of the pools, like you said, will open at the resorts like full time.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: Like there's been a few, I or well, the one that's you know at Circa that's been open year-round.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: The other ones, they don't start actually heating them and opening up like the cocktail service and all that kind of thing.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: But hopefully it warms up by then.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: I hope so.
- 3:42Sean McAllister: Mother Nature needs to cooperate with that for sure.
- 3:44Sean McAllister: Uh, you mentioned jobs at the pools, but there are also there's a lot of hiring going on across Las Vegas at just about every property on the strip.
- 3:55Dayna Roselli: If you need a job, I mean the English hotel that just opened, downtown is hiring, the Palms is hiring, all the properties are hiring um to get service back at these hotel casinos that are seeing, you know, large numbers of visitors since things are masks are off and things are things are popping.
- 4:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, we're getting visitation numbers that are getting back up to what we've been used to before uh the pandemic hit.
- 4:21Sean McAllister: But what hasn't come back are the levels of people who are willing to work and really support the service industry that we have here in Las Vegas.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: So that really has been a challenge, not only at uh strip properties, hotel casinos, but at at restaurants and any kind of service-based uh business uh all across the Las Vegas Valley.
- 4:47Sean McAllister: And I know this is not uh an issue that's unique to Las Vegas, it's something that people are seeing across the country.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: But um but in Las Vegas it I feel like it's definitely felt a little bit more because we are used to a a certain level of service and you know we're trying to keep up.
- 5:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I never even mentioned oh, I mentioned that I went to see Karatot, but that night when I pulled up to the Luxor in the front, it was like all backed up, like the valet, there wasn't enough valet workers, it was all backed up, and I I was waiting and I'm like, what should I do?
- 5:21Dayna Roselli: And they're like, Well, we're just backed up, like there's no way.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: So we're like, okay, so we moved to the side mandalay bay valet near the shops, and it was just a ghost town, but all these cars were there, so we were like, Is the valet service on?
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: My friend walked inside, there was no one at the desk, there were cars.
- 5:38Dayna Roselli: We're like, and we were like, this is a product of the pandemic.
- 5:42Sean McAllister: Completely.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: They just don't have people, I think, and or enough people right now.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: It is definitely frustrating, but um I don't know.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't know what the solution is.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: I was telling you I saw on Twitter, someone we know very well in the hospitality world was saying, like, where did everyone go that was in the service industry?
- 6:03Dayna Roselli: Why can't we get workers?
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: Where are they now?
- 6:05Dayna Roselli: And a lot of people were saying people have reinvented themselves, they have to had find different kinds of things to do, whether it's customer service or maybe they've moved on to retail or work from home or launched a business that they never thought about before.
- 6:20Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: So it's interesting.
- 6:22Sean McAllister: Well, and I know a lot of people too have, you know, if they like uh gardening or woodworking, something that they had done as a hobby, you know, aside from what they did for a living for their paycheck, uh during the the past couple years, they've really d dove into their their hobby a little more and turned that into their full-time job.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, for sure.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: I mean, the business is booming on our end.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: We uh we co-own a media company, in case you aren't familiar with what we do for our real job.
- 6:53Dayna Roselli: But even you and I just had a chat.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: Like, I don't know if we can keep up Vegas Revealed weekly because we are so busy with work.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: We're gonna find a way to do it.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: But you know, we do this as a hobby in a many ways.
- 7:05Dayna Roselli: Sometimes we get a sponsor, we're super thankful for targeted tax relief this month.
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: Um, but sometimes it's it it does take time and and business is booming.
- 7:17Dayna Roselli: And I wish we could hire someone else, but right now we're just you know it's all on the ground up.
- 7:22Sean McAllister: Fortunately, fortunately, business is booming and schedules are tight.
- 7:26Sean McAllister: And show schedules are gonna be tight for performers in a new Cirque du Soleil show that was just announced here on the Las Vegas strip.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: I like this, Sean, because it's called Mad Apple and it's gonna be at New York, New York.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: And I love that this is kind of like a New York themed show at New York, New York.
- 7:46Dayna Roselli: It's a lot of people.
- 7:46Dayna Roselli: I know, we need that, right?
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: I love when it matches up, you know?
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: It does.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: It's just like when Jersey Boys used to be at the Palazzo.
- 7:52Dayna Roselli: Because I always thought it was weird when it moved to the Paris.
- 7:55Sean McAllister: I'm like, you know what I mean?
- 7:57Dayna Roselli: Like, I don't know.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: But so I love this new show at uh New York, New York is gonna be New York City themed, and it's gonna include pretty much what they're known for, right?
- 8:08Dayna Roselli: Music, dance, acrobatics, uh, some magic, and then of course comedy.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:14Sean McAllister: And this is going to be a little bit more of a variety show feel than uh what you would normally expect from a Cirque du Soleil show.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: And I feel like, as I was seeing uh they there was a big uh media event down at New York, New York.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: They gave some glimpses into uh what we can expect from the performances uh in this new show, Mad Apple, and it kind of reminded me of um kind of the supper clubs that have taken off in popularity here in Las Vegas, and the live entertainment that you have up there is kind of like a clubby, jazzy kind of feel.
- 8:55Sean McAllister: And there was Rose Rabbit Lie that ended up closing down over at the Cosmopolitan.
- 9:01Sean McAllister: That was a supper club environment, and now it's super frico.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: Now it's super freaking, um, and and just a variety of acts.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: There's dancers, there's singers, there's uh people, you know, doing stunts and and comedy uh mixed in a little bit as well.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: So um it I as soon as I saw this concept, it made me think, oh, that's interesting.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: Is Circ kind of like pulling from the vibe of the entertainment experiences that have gained traction over the past few years?
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I was reading a little bit more about it on the website, and they're really, you know, also focusing on the pre-show.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: Like they're gonna have pre-show magic, you know, cocktails from the stunning stage bar, a band playing some of the biggest musical hits inspired by New York City.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: So I love it.
- 9:49Dayna Roselli: And the way they describe it, it's Mad Apple blurs the lines between circus live entertainment and New York nightlife culture.
- 9:55Dayna Roselli: So, and it's gonna be, like you said, a variety of different things, but it's also starring comedian Brad Williams.
- 10:03Sean McAllister: And this is a show that we don't have to wait terribly long for.
- 10:07Sean McAllister: Uh, it looks like Memorial Day weekend.
- 10:09Sean McAllister: They're gonna be starting uh their first shows on May 26th.
- 10:13Sean McAllister: So uh spring comes and we have new entertainment for you on the Las Vegas strip, Mad Apple, inside uh what used to be the Zumanity Theater over at New York, New York.
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: And we're gonna get into a whole bunch of other show announcements in a little bit, but first we want to tell you about a new app.
- 10:32Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's called Neon Feast, and it was created by longtime uh Las Vegas uh culinary journalist L.
- 10:41Sean McAllister: Mancini.
- 10:42Sean McAllister: He's been on our show before.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: He has a podcast called Food and Loathing in Las Vegas, which we've talked about.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: A veteran writer, and he's just launched a great new app.
- 10:54Sean McAllister: It's called Neon Feast, as I mentioned, and it takes input from a long list of influencers, journalists, and foodies.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, this is, you know, instead of a bunch of random reviews you can't really always count on.
- 11:07Dayna Roselli: So Sean and I are happy to contribute to this app.
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: We're excited about it.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: Al launched the app with a party at Soul Belly Barbecue on Main Street in Las Vegas.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: It was a great big launch right on President's Day.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: And we said, Al, you know what?
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: We gotta catch up with you on the podcast.
- 11:23Dayna Roselli: So we took them aside and talked to them all about it.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: Al, we talked to you on the podcast before about your podcast about food and your love for food and your many, many years experiencing food in Las Vegas.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: But you tell us, in your words, what is Neon Feast, this new app?
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Neon Feast is my attempt to um to let everybody in the world in on the really cool culinary conversations I have with my friends in this town.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I just happen to have a lot of friends who know a lot about food.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I've been very blessed and fortunate that um some of the best chefs in the world and restaurateurs and journalists like you guys are sort of my go-to people when I want to talk about where we should eat, right?
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: And these are we always have late-night conversations or conversations across a press table, conversations at the bar at the end of the night, and we always say, where are you going?
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Where'd you go for Italian?
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Where'd you go for Greek?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: What I try to do is put that all in the palm of people's hands, right?
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: So this is an app, but you can open it up.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: We have a hundred plus categories.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Some are based on neighborhoods, some are based on types of food.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: And in each of those categories, there are maybe anywhere from five to twelve restaurants that come recommended by my friends, by people in my Rolodex who really know food, right?
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: And that to me was getting lightning in a bottle.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: How do we take all of this collective knowledge that I'm fortunate to have access to and make it very easy for people to access?
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: So the basic listings here, we have over 400 already on this app and over 100 categories.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: They have all the information you need.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: And then some of the restaurants are actually taking it a step further and having a button so you can make a reservation straight from the app.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: A button where you can get takeout or deliveries straight from the app, where you can ask a question if you're worried about whether they could do your gluten-free diet.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: You hit a button, you send them an email, and they'll answer you.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: So, you know, this is really about just putting people in touch with the restaurants that we know are great in Las Vegas.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: And I know developing an app is it's not something that happens overnight.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: I know this is a project you've been working on for a long time.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: I mean, I feel like it's been over a year that it's been at least in your head and then to actually put things down on paper and get them programmed and all that.
- 13:37Sean McAllister: Uh what is your favorite part and feature of the app that is now available to people when they download Neon Feast?
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: What has surprised me most, other than the fact that I got it done, because I've been thinking about it for probably four years, to be honest.
- 13:52Sean McAllister: Not that long.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Putting together business plans and talking to investors, that all goes back four years at least.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Um but so the fact it got done, that's my favorite part.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: But honestly, I love the team that designed the app, the company called Object Studio.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: And when I flip through this, it has that feel of a guidebook that I used to take on a vacation with me, where you can really just dig in.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: If you want to be a food nerd and you really want to learn about the town, you can go down rabbit holes.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Maybe you start off on an Italian restaurant and then you see that it's also on the list of places with breathtaking views, and you're like, oh, I didn't even know that was a list.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Let me look at the other places on that list.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: And you can go on and on and on.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: So I love the way that this company put this app together, and I also feel that it's very of the moment because I said I wanted something with the guidebook feel, and we have that, but it also has that scroll that we've all come to get used to with the Netflix or the, you know, those those type of worlds.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: And I think that it is very intuitive for those of us for those actually younger than me who've been raised on that Netflix generation of being able to scroll through, and if you push this, you may also like this.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: So I'm amazed by how usable it is.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I'm really, really excited and happy for that, and I hope other people find it usable.
- 15:03Dayna Roselli: And what's been the response from the restaurant community, like the chefs, the owners of certain restaurants in certain parts of town, everyone that's featured on this app?
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, first of all, MGM Resorts International, I want to send a shout out to right off the bat.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: They were so such early supporters.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: They came in right from the start.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: They agreed to um upgrade 20 of their listings to premium features without the app even being done.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: I showed them a little bit of a demo and they said, We're in, we like the idea.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: So that kind of enthusiasm was really amazing.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: But also, you know, the folks at Caesars have signed on, post the station.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: I have other people from other casino companies in the room.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: So they're excited, they're looking at it.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: I think that they like the idea that this is only expert recommendations, right?
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Um, we certainly welcome the public to upload photos of their meal, and as long as they're legit, they will get approved and put on the app.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: And um, it's not that we don't trust the public.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Yes, it is.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: It's that we don't trust the public because you never trust them.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: You know, um, no, and I think that the restaurant community is very excited to have something that is built by people who understand the industry, right?
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: Well, and I I was gonna say, I feel like a lot of times we hear stories about competitors writing bad reviews and anonymous people, and it's really hard to get them down.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: So this keeps it legit, like you said.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: And and Al, you were generous enough to ask uh both Dana and myself to contribute to the the the launch of Neon Feast and give some of our recommendations.
- 16:27Sean McAllister: Since those uh recommendations came into you, my mind has been racing, and I've had a list of other recommendations.
- 16:35Sean McAllister: Is Neon Feast something that's like a living, breathing entity that's gonna be constantly evolving?
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is a work in progress.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: This is only 90% of version 1.0 complete right now.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Um, and we're about to round that off, but I want to add cocktail lists, spirits lists, so I need to go and find some super experts in those fields.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: I also want to have interest lists, I want to have things like pet-friendly cat, you know, pet-friendly patios.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: And Kathy Brooks from the Hydrant Club is here today.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: She said that she'll put that list together for me.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: I want to talk to people that represent the LGBTQ community to do LGBTQ owned and friendly restaurants, black owned restaurants.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: So this is constantly gonna build.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm also gonna go back to all of you.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: I'm a little nervous because that was a long survey I sent you.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: It was long.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: You were so kind to take your time with it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: But I will go back to all of you, probably in a month or so, and say, hey, you've looked at the list, what's missing?
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: And if you got if a bunch of you come back with the same ones, then we're gonna add them right away.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Because this is my full-time job.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: I'm here to dedicate myself to writing about food in Las Vegas.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: It's sad that we don't have as many full-time food journalists as we used to have.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: On the bright side, we have a lot of talented Instagrammers who I've also polled for this.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: So, you know, this is what I do, and this is what I want to continue doing as long as people are willing to listen to me do it.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, this is gonna evolve constantly.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: We love it.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: Listen, congratulations, Dale.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: It was a long survey, but the thing is, is it shows how thorough you are.
- 17:58Dayna Roselli: This wasn't just a one-pager, you know, you really, really dove into our minds.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: So go on to uh the Apple uh App Store, uh Google Play, wherever you download your apps and get Neon Feast.
- 18:12Sean McAllister: It is your guide to everything in the culinary community here in Las Vegas.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: And if I might add, if you're not app savvy, um neonfeast.com.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: We do have a version of it for the web.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: Perfect.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: Thanks, Al.
- 18:24unknown: Thank you.
- 18:25Sean McAllister: All right, let's get into some of the new entertainment that has just been announced.
- 18:29Sean McAllister: And Dana, it looks like we are going to have a boy band extravaganza weekend in Las Vegas coming up this spring.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: We sure are, and it's the weekend after the Grammys hit Las Vegas.
- 18:42Dayna Roselli: So I have a feeling everyone will be in town for that.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: They'll hit rehearsal, and then they'll they'll be performing on the strip.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: Backstreet Boys did announce they're kicking off their DNA World Tour at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: So this is exciting.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: A new place for them.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: They've always performed at Zappos Theater, and now they're gonna be right inside the Coliseum for performances on April 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th.
- 19:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is going to, as you say, uh officially kick off the DNA world tour, which was postponed because of uh COVID.
- 19:17Sean McAllister: I we talked in in past episodes with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, who told us all about how they were down in Brazil and they had to cancel a show and then get out of the country before they were totally locked out of the US.
- 19:32Sean McAllister: Um, but this is kind of hopefully giving us a glimpse at what is to come after they wrap up their tour, because Nick has also told us that Backstreet Boys will be back for another Las Vegas residency once they fulfill all of the tour dates that were that were promised a long time ago.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: And then right down the road, BTS is gonna be performing in Las Vegas.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: And I don't know, have they had shows here before?
- 19:59Dayna Roselli: I'm trying to think if they ever like stopped here.
- 20:01Dayna Roselli: Maybe, maybe once.
- 20:03Sean McAllister: They were at uh the Grand Garden Arena.
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: Maybe, yeah.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: We need we didn't do our research on that, but that's okay.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: Let's just say they're one of the biggest boy bands in the world, if not the biggest at the moment, wouldn't you say?
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Um they are literally pop icons right now.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: So they're gonna be doing BTS permission to dance on stage, Las Vegas.
- 20:25Dayna Roselli: Now it's gonna be held April 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th, and it's gonna be taking place at Allegiant Stadium in front of a live audience.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: The cool part is they're gonna do this live play in Las Vegas in-person live broadcast event across the street at MGM Grand Garden Arena on all four days.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: So I believe how that work it works is you go in the Grand Garden Arena and you watch the Allegiant show live.
- 20:54Dayna Roselli: So it kind of opens up for like more people to have the BTS experience.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: It's approximately, I guess, four months after they had something similar in LA, and it just like really took off and was super successful.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be a huge event.
- 21:11Sean McAllister: I had friends who uh went to one of the shows in LA.
- 21:15Sean McAllister: It's uh a friend who took their kids to go see BTS, and they said the show was just incredible.
- 21:24Sean McAllister: And I mean, there were a lot of parents who were accompanying their kids to go and see the show, right?
- 21:31Sean McAllister: Which I feel like is kind of like what used to happen at Backstreet Boy concerts, but now it's like the kids are all grown up, so it's all parents at Backstreet Boys, and BTS is like the new crop of boy banders that are gonna have the screaming kids over there.
- 21:48Sean McAllister: But man, that is gonna be a packed weekend here in Las Vegas.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: Couples weekends, right?
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: Well, and that's the thing is like all these BTS fans are gonna be in town, backstreet fans are gonna be in town, just those two.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Two shows alone on two weekends.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: You're gonna bring in droves, right?
- 22:04Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: And then the fact that they're opening up Allegiant Stadium, then the Grand Garden.
- 22:08Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be great.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: More details to come on that, but I know you have to register.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: Like, you know, we've talked about before, like the fan experience.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: You have to register, get in the list.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: So I mean, I'm sure it's gonna be a tough ticket to get, but the good thing is the locations are huge, so there'll be a lot of tickets out there.
- 22:24Sean McAllister: Uh, comedy-wise, Chris Rock is going to be doing some shows over at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace.
- 22:32Sean McAllister: He's got performances announced for Friday, May 6th, uh, Saturday, the 7th, and Sunday, July 3rd.
- 22:40Sean McAllister: So um, it's always great to have Chris Rock back in Vegas.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: He's been here before.
- 22:45Sean McAllister: People absolutely love him.
- 22:48Dayna Roselli: And I love him.
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: He's one of my favorites.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: I saw him in Syracuse, New York.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: Oh.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: Then I went to the Park MGM and saw him there.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: I love going to his live shows.
- 22:59Dayna Roselli: He is one of the funniest people.
- 23:01Sean McAllister: He is hilarious.
- 23:02Sean McAllister: His comedy is great.
- 23:04Dayna Roselli: So his tour is called Ego Death World Tour 2022.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and he's making that stop at uh the Coliseum for three different days.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: I love that he has a 9:30 p.m.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: show because I'm sure it'll be a little more vulgar.
- 23:15Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, without a doubt.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: He's always, yeah.
- 23:18Dayna Roselli: He's always a little vulgar, but it's it's a good laugh.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: Last time I went to his show, we had to put our phones away in one of those pouches.
- 23:23Sean McAllister: Oh, really?
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: So wonderful, do that again.
- 23:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, I know.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: That's something they do over at uh Park MGM.
- 23:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's where he was.
- 23:30Sean McAllister: Still be live.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:31Sean McAllister: But I've not seen any other theaters do that, I don't think, in Las Vegas.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: So I wonder if it's up to the artist or if they're I don't know how that works.
- 23:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: Well, Sean, get ready for a little naughty by nature, kid and play, JJ Fad, Thea Austin of Snap, and CeeLo Green.
- 23:52Dayna Roselli: How about that lineup?
- 23:53Sean McAllister: This sounds like a mixtape that I used to play on my boombox.
- 23:56Dayna Roselli: Well, that's funny that you say that because it's called Boombox.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: Well, there you go.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: And it's coming to the Westgate, Las Vegas, on May 11th to the 15th, and then May 18th to the 22nd.
- 24:07Dayna Roselli: If you love the 80s, the 90s, the 2000s, music fans are gonna love this.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: And Sean, you talked about the halftime show at the Super Bowl and how you wish like everyone that was there kind of did a big collaborative performance.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: Well, apparently in this show, they're gonna do their own separate thing, but then they're gonna come together for a bunch of moments too and kind of collaborate.
- 24:29Dayna Roselli: Uh, there's gonna be a live DJ, drummer, apparently, like tons of nostalgic videos, dancers.
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: It sounds like a blast.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: It does, it does.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: And you mentioned the Super Bowl.
- 24:39Sean McAllister: Uh, it was also just announced, of course, Snoop Dogg took part in the Super Bowl halftime show.
- 24:45Sean McAllister: Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube live in Las Vegas is coming to the Micelob Ultra Arena over at Mandalay Bay on May 14th.
- 24:55Sean McAllister: So you can see that show.
- 24:56Sean McAllister: That's not a residency, it's just a one-time stop uh as part of their tour.
- 25:01Sean McAllister: Um, but you'll be able to see that coming up in May as well.
- 25:04Dayna Roselli: I've I've never seen Snoop Live.
- 25:06Dayna Roselli: I gotta go.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: I like Snoop.
- 25:08Sean McAllister: I mean, there's definitely going to be a certain aroma in the air for sure.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: Well, yeah.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: All right, well, let's clean it up with the ACM Award lineup.
- 25:17Dayna Roselli: How about that?
- 25:18Dayna Roselli: Just wanted to know, we've talked about that.
- 25:19Dayna Roselli: The awards are coming to uh Allegiant Stadium.
- 25:23Dayna Roselli: They always take place mostly in Las Vegas, but I think this is the first time, obviously, it'll be held at Allegiance Stadium.
- 25:27Dayna Roselli: Going to be a big event.
- 25:29Dayna Roselli: It's on Monday, March 7th, and we now found out that the some of the performances include our Vegas headliners, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan.
- 25:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, which is gonna be so great to see them performing uh up on stage during the ACM Awards.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: Of course, they uh each have residencies over at Resorts World.
- 25:50Sean McAllister: And by the way, you may recall last week we mentioned the theater over at Resorts World is nominated itself for an ACM for venue of the year.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's it's gonna be a big old party.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: There's so much coming up in Las Vegas, everyone.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: I can't we can't even believe it.
- 26:06Dayna Roselli: It's nonstop.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: So uh we'll keep you posted, obviously, on all our social media platforms.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: So follow us there.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: And it's Vegas Revealed.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: We're really easy to find.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: If we um miss anything, it's just because there's so much stuff.
- 26:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, and another note on the ACMs uh Dolly Parton is hosting the award ceremony this year, and it was also just announced Kelly Clarkson is going to be performing a tribute to Dolly Parton during the award show.
- 26:33Sean McAllister: So that's gonna be fantastic.
- 26:35Sean McAllister: Again, March 7th, and that's going to be streaming live on Amazon Prime.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: That's where you're gonna be able to watch the ACM awards this year.
- 26:44Dayna Roselli: All right, let's get to some tips.
- 26:51Dayna Roselli: All right, a tweet I saw online by someone we follow on Twitter.
- 26:55Dayna Roselli: His name's Steve.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: He's at Las Vegas, UK, and I always get lots of UK little nuggets from him, and we have people that listen to Vegas Revealed from all over the world.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: So we love to mention some of the updates we get.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: And this one, Sean, I thought was pretty cool.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: It was about the new A350 Airbus that is going to be apparently flying to Vegas.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: It's British Airways, um, starting April.
- 27:22Dayna Roselli: And so I know people that come in from overseas, they plan the whole thing, and the the actual getting there is important to them.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: What kind of you know, aircraft they're flying on, what kind of class they can get or upgrades.
- 27:36Dayna Roselli: And so I thought this was a really good piece of information since flying stopped like literally, you know, for a long time.
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: Now that we have, you know, international flights again and overseas flights, it's interesting to see that they're, you know, making some upgrades.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: And he said it's a great new aircraft.
- 27:51Dayna Roselli: I saw people chiming in.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: Uh Shane G chimed in and said, I'm flying with British Airways to Las Vegas in August on the A350.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: And they're club suites.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: He says he cannot wait.
- 28:03Dayna Roselli: And then British Airways wrote him back saying we're looking forward to welcoming you aboard, which kind of confirms, like, okay, so this is happening.
- 28:10Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:11Sean McAllister: And these uh business class club suites, um, it's an entire section of the plane that's uh it's like those pods that you see where there's a single seat and there's uh kind of a wall next to you so you can recline, and it's just nice and comfy.
- 28:29Sean McAllister: It's a comfy way to travel.
- 28:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 28:31Sean McAllister: Um and British Airways has daily flights with these uh A350s to Las Vegas out of Heathrow.
- 28:39Sean McAllister: So, you know, there's lots of options, and it's a a great way to travel if if you can get the ticket.
- 28:46Sean McAllister: And it's like four rows of seats.
- 28:48Sean McAllister: So it's one row against the left side of the plane.
- 28:51Sean McAllister: Uh, there's two rows in the middle, and then one row on the right side of the plane.
- 28:56Dayna Roselli: Not too shabby.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: You're not gonna be like squeezed in next to anybody.
- 29:01Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 29:01Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, yeah, I mean, people love the offerings, and I think this is gonna be a great addition.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: And whatever makes those travelers more comfortable as they head to Las Vegas to most likely lose some money, sometimes win some money and have some fun.
- 29:16Sean McAllister: Arrive happy and in comfort and go home the same way.
- 29:20Sean McAllister: But maybe a little lighter in the wallet.
- 29:22Dayna Roselli: Tissue boxes uh on the nightstands.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, exactly.
- 29:26Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, last week on the podcast, we told you that we were going to see Shania Twain's residency show over at Planet Hollywood at the Zappos Theater.
- 29:36Sean McAllister: And we did, and Shania and her fans Shania's show is a great show.
- 29:43Sean McAllister: Of course, she sings all of her hits.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was fun.
- 29:46Sean McAllister: She said usually she brings her dog on stage with her at some part at some point.
- 29:53Sean McAllister: Um, but she said her dog is getting older and had to stay home in Switzerland.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: He's too old to travel now, so the the dog didn't make an appearance.
- 30:02Sean McAllister: But Shania did, and she was fantastic.
- 30:04Sean McAllister: The Zeppos Theater, you may recall when we talked about going to see Gwen Stefani, we had some challenges getting into the Zeppos Theater.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: And it was kind of the same experience this time around.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we were kind of surprised.
- 30:17Dayna Roselli: It had been a little while since we went to Gwen, and uh I I think we even talked about and showed that long line all the way to the parking garage.
- 30:24Dayna Roselli: It was insane.
- 30:25Dayna Roselli: Happy to see that many people attending the show.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: It felt you know very vibrant, but we were like, holy cow.
- 30:31Dayna Roselli: So then it we thought it was because of the vaccine card that it was required to go in, and uh the possible uh if you don't have a card, you get a test and all that kind of thing.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: But um, first of all, we should have read, which we did read that vaccine cards were required this time, but we thought since the masks came off that that rule had kind of gone away.
- 30:56Dayna Roselli: But no, it's still up to the individual, I guess, artist or venue.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: And so they were still requiring people to show cards.
- 31:03Dayna Roselli: Now, I don't know if that's the reason it slows things down, but that line to get into Shania was just as long.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: Really, like we were there twenty-five minutes to a half hour ahead of time, and they were calling the show starting in four minutes, and we were looking back at the line, going, Well, we everyone's not in, and there's still logistics to be worked out.
- 31:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:28Sean McAllister: To uh have the protocols in place that they want to have in place, but still get people into the theater in a timely manner.
- 31:37unknown: Yeah.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Because once people got in, they didn't want to rush right to the seat.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: You want to grab a drink, you want to buy some merchandise, all that kind of thing.
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: And so it w it it was the lobby was packed, and we heard Shania, you know, starting.
- 31:49Dayna Roselli: Starting.
- 31:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:50Dayna Roselli: And like I think we didn't even get in there until about like two songs in the middle.
- 31:54Sean McAllister: Third or fourth, I think.
- 31:55Sean McAllister: The fourth song is when we finally got into the theater.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: We stopped at a bar that wasn't didn't have the longest line.
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: We only had to wait ten minutes, and then because we thought, oh, this will be quicker, because we wanted to.
- 32:06Dayna Roselli: I even just wanted like a Diet Coke.
- 32:07Dayna Roselli: And I was like, and then they're like, oh, this is a cash bar only.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: After we waited 10 minutes, we did not have the best night getting in.
- 32:14Sean McAllister: Who the hell has a cash-only bar these days?
- 32:17Dayna Roselli: Well, and they need a sign that's a cash-only bar.
- 32:20Sean McAllister: Huge ass sign.
- 32:21Sean McAllister: We have entire casino properties on the Las Vegas strip going cashless.
- 32:26Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:27Sean McAllister: Why in this day and age, in February of 2022, do we have a cash-only bar?
- 32:36Sean McAllister: Give me a break.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: No.
- 32:38Sean McAllister: I guess the MyCard or Apple PayU all day.
- 32:44Sean McAllister: No cash.
- 32:45Sean McAllister: Let's get rid of cash-only bars.
- 32:48Dayna Roselli: And there were literally one, two, three, four, five, six of us.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: Nobody had cash.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: We all turned around.
- 32:54Sean McAllister: You know what?
- 32:55Sean McAllister: I'm so tempted to add a design to our Vegas Revealed merchandise store that says, screw your cash-only bar.
- 33:04Dayna Roselli: Oh, I know.
- 33:06Sean McAllister: I was irritated by it.
- 33:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we were irritated.
- 33:07Sean McAllister: But Shania's show was great.
- 33:09Dayna Roselli: Well, we got in and we got our seats.
- 33:11Dayna Roselli: We all enjoyed the show.
- 33:12Dayna Roselli: Everyone around us was standing up, you know, hit after hit.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: She sounded great, she looked great, we had an absolutely fabulous time.
- 33:19Dayna Roselli: And also want to just go back to when we were talking about the lack of workers and hiring, and that could also have something to do with it.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: We don't know.
- 33:27Dayna Roselli: We don't work at Zappos Theater, we don't work at Planet Hollywood.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: They they could be short staffed.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: Um so I don't know.
- 33:33Sean McAllister: But um I tried to ask somebody who worked there, and uh he was feverishly uh running back and forth up and down the line.
- 33:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, and the only response from him was we're not opening any other lines.
- 33:47Sean McAllister: She's going on in four minutes.
- 33:48Sean McAllister: So it's like, all right.
- 33:50Sean McAllister: All right, whatever.
- 33:51Sean McAllister: Uh but our tip the tip the tip all of all of this is the lead up to the tip.
- 33:57Sean McAllister: Just get there if you're planning to go to a show at Zappos Theater.
- 34:02Sean McAllister: I guess you need to plan to be there at least 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the show.
- 34:08Sean McAllister: At least so that you can I mean, and that's minimum.
- 34:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because we met for a quick drink and dinner before, and on the way in there was not a line.
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: No.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: And we met at six-ish.
- 34:20Dayna Roselli: Six twenty?
- 34:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, six twenty-ish.
- 34:23Dayna Roselli: And the show started at eight.
- 34:25Dayna Roselli: We went over there at seven thirty.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: So like six twenty-ish, if you don't mind going in for like an hour or so.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: But so maybe more, yeah, maybe you're right.
- 34:33Dayna Roselli: Maybe more like seven heading in there.
- 34:36Dayna Roselli: There was there was not a line.
- 34:37Dayna Roselli: And and I think people thought they were, you know, and we all might have just thought the same thing.
- 34:41Dayna Roselli: Like if we go at 7 30, that's plenty of time, and then everyone just showed up.
- 34:45Dayna Roselli: But it's a big theater.
- 34:46Sean McAllister: It is a big theater, it's a lot of people to get in.
- 34:48Dayna Roselli: So get there early, be prepared for the the the the bar without the line, or just a few people, and it's probably cash only.
- 34:57Dayna Roselli: And uh get there early.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: It's$20 parking in the Miracle Mile shops for special events.
- 35:03Dayna Roselli: Also keep that in mind.
- 35:04Dayna Roselli: Pay before you get to your car.
- 35:05Dayna Roselli: There's all sorts of tips.
- 35:06Dayna Roselli: But anyway, it's a fun experience.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: Just be prepared to spend some time there.
- 35:11Sean McAllister: Thanks so much for uh joining us on episode 107 of Vegas Revealed.
- 35:17Sean McAllister: We will be back next week with episode 108.
