- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's dive into it today because we are talking about
- 0:02Speaker 1: the death of the penny. Yes, the US government currency
- 0:06Speaker 1: the penny could blockchain resurrect all of this on low
- 0:09Speaker 1: cost fees. We'll break it down for you to get
- 0:11Speaker 1: a special guest for you as well. Let's dive right in.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I do want to thank our sponsor. That's Tangent, where
- 0:16Speaker 1: you guys can get into self custy. Very easy to
- 0:19Speaker 1: set up over there on tangum dot com. Make sure
- 0:21Speaker 1: and use our code to get your three card set.
- 0:24Speaker 1: That's the way to go. It's like a credit card
- 0:26Speaker 1: works with your phone. Very easy to set up self custy.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So I recommend everybody do this, so use our link
- 0:33Speaker 1: down below.
- 0:34Speaker 2: It does help the channel. All right, let's go over
- 0:35Speaker 2: to a couple of points.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We are going to be getting on with sand Deep
- 0:38Speaker 1: from Polygon to break down where his blockchain is going.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But also take a look at low cost fees. You
- 0:44Speaker 1: look at what's going on right now in the US government.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The mint now strikes its last penny. Wonder what that's
- 0:50Speaker 1: going to be worse, the last minted penny completely phasing out,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and this of course is rattling retailers as we start
- 0:57Speaker 1: to see this transition. I want to go to this clip,
- 1:00Speaker 1: kind of break it down. Take a look.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Well, after two hundred thirty eight long years, production has
- 1:05Speaker 3: come to an end. Now Here is the moment the
- 1:07Speaker 3: mint produced the last penny. A press operator stamped it.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Right there. US Treasurer Brandon Beach oversaw the final strike.
- 1:15Speaker 4: He says, the sale of pennies is heating up.
- 1:18Speaker 2: People want to buy the pennies for two to three
- 1:20Speaker 2: cents each.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I've never seen prices like this.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Companies eventually start rounding up or rounding down, but no
- 1:27Speaker 5: mandates have been given from this administration. We'll be round like,
- 1:31Speaker 5: how are they going to handle prices?
- 1:32Speaker 3: That'll be an interesting discussion.
- 1:35Speaker 1: All right, So this is going to be interesting because
- 1:36Speaker 1: you're going to have retail. I think that probably is
- 1:38Speaker 1: the most impacted on this, but it's most likely going
- 1:41Speaker 1: to be a scenario that plays out across other sectors
- 1:44Speaker 1: of industry as well.
- 1:46Speaker 2: The things we're looking at.
- 1:47Speaker 1: When you compare to what's going on in the R
- 1:50Speaker 1: Toba sector, you can kind.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Of see the growth right there.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Polygon holding in the number four position always really around
- 1:56Speaker 1: the top five when it looks to r TOBA value
- 1:58Speaker 1: and overall value. So this continues to climb. You look
- 2:02Speaker 1: at that along with this right here where the Japanese
- 2:05Speaker 1: stable coin starting to see tremendous growth on Polygon. It
- 2:09Speaker 1: really gets into the question how fast will we see
- 2:13Speaker 1: Polygon rise up the charts? Here with all these things
- 2:16Speaker 1: that are very bullish for that chain. We've been reporting
- 2:19Speaker 1: on this chain for a long time. We have two
- 2:23Speaker 1: hundred and fifty seven Polygon videos. I didn't even know
- 2:26Speaker 1: that we had that many going in there. We've never
- 2:29Speaker 1: had sand deep on, so we thought, hey, if we
- 2:33Speaker 1: can get sand deep on, maybe it will be our
- 2:35Speaker 1: two hundred and.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Fifty eighth videos. So we want to welcome in Sandy.
- 2:38Speaker 2: How are you.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I'm very good, Paul, Thanks for having me here.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Let's get into a few points. First of all, what
- 2:44Speaker 1: did you think you were Apprecio. We were talking a
- 2:46Speaker 1: little bit about the stable coin growth there on the
- 2:49Speaker 1: Japanese stable coin, but you had mentioned the Australian dollar
- 2:52Speaker 1: also growing very strong.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Give me a breakdown of that.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 5: So basically at Polygon, we have been very extensively focusing
- 2:59Speaker 5: on payment and stable coin like away from the limelight
- 3:02Speaker 5: and all that and the fundamentals are.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Now showing up.
- 3:04Speaker 5: So first we the throughout the twenty twenty five we
- 3:08Speaker 5: scaled the blockchain. At the start of the twenty twenty
- 3:11Speaker 5: five blockchain had Polygon blockchain had two hundred tps. Today
- 3:15Speaker 5: that tps stands at around one thousand to fifteen hundred tps.
- 3:18Speaker 4: So we scaled the blockchain five seven to eight times.
- 3:22Speaker 5: And our daily transactions were around three million transactions daily
- 3:26Speaker 5: on the chain.
- 3:27Speaker 4: They are now trending towards five million transactions.
- 3:29Speaker 5: And these are organic payment transactions primarily on stable coins
- 3:33Speaker 5: and on the stable coins. So people don't realize that
- 3:36Speaker 5: Polygon chain generally is on USDC. It is the number
- 3:42Speaker 5: one chain in terms of daily active users most of
- 3:44Speaker 5: the days ahead of base. Also you know where you
- 3:47Speaker 5: think of like home of Circle and all that. And
- 3:51Speaker 5: then for the us DT also generally Polygon chain is
- 3:54Speaker 5: in the top three. But the most important statistics on
- 3:58Speaker 5: Polygon we are seeing the are emerging is on the
- 4:00Speaker 5: local stable coins, like which I call it local stable
- 4:03Speaker 5: coins meaning you know, different different regional stable coins, and
- 4:08Speaker 5: there we are seeing aggressive traction like if you see
- 4:11Speaker 5: in the latam and you see the like first of all, globally,
- 4:16Speaker 5: non USD non Euro stable coins, Polygon has around eighty
- 4:20Speaker 5: to ninety percent market share globally. Then if you come
- 4:23Speaker 5: to Latam around sixty percent market share of the Latain
- 4:26Speaker 5: stable coins, and in Southeast Asia around eighty percent market
- 4:29Speaker 5: share of the the you know, Southeast Asia stable coin.
- 4:33Speaker 5: And that's when you see like jpyc recently launched on Polygon.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Like literally we are seeing any regional stable coin when
- 4:39Speaker 5: they launched, they launch Polygon is one of the launch chains.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Or in Africa you saw recently Flutterway, which is the
- 4:45Speaker 5: stripe of Africa where basically they also exclusively launched on Polygon.
- 4:49Speaker 4: So we are seeing these regional stable coin launching.
- 4:51Speaker 5: So jpyc is seeing you know, I think ten to
- 4:54Speaker 5: twenty times more traction than any other chain on Polygon.
- 4:59Speaker 5: And then Australian stable coin last month did two point
- 5:03Speaker 5: six billion dollars in overall you know volumes as per
- 5:06Speaker 5: some of the public stats. So you know this we
- 5:09Speaker 5: are seeing a mini you know, kind of explosion of
- 5:11Speaker 5: these regional stable coins.
- 5:12Speaker 4: While US, the USDC and us d T you know,
- 5:16Speaker 4: mind you.
- 5:16Speaker 5: That poly market is actually built fully on Polygon, right
- 5:19Speaker 5: and you know there you.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Already see it uses us DC, so we already see.
- 5:24Speaker 5: A huge amount of USDC transactions happening on poly market also,
- 5:29Speaker 5: so apart from USDC and USIT, regional stable coins are
- 5:32Speaker 5: you know, doing pretty well on Polygon right now.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, doing great.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Actually, I would say it's the number one network out
- 5:36Speaker 1: there for it right now, in rivaling even what's going
- 5:40Speaker 1: on with ethereum. I was looking at this news right here,
- 5:43Speaker 1: which is Calistone tapping Polygon to distribute their token. It
- 5:48Speaker 1: is fun shares on chain. What does this mean for
- 5:51Speaker 1: you guys? This is a big deal.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Absolutely, And you see in the r W side, like
- 5:58Speaker 5: for the last two years, we got into r w
- 6:00Speaker 5: as very early and you are showing some r W
- 6:03Speaker 5: statistics there and I think like one important characteristics that
- 6:07Speaker 5: you should see there for the stable coins is the
- 6:10Speaker 5: part that they were they have the transferability right. You
- 6:14Speaker 5: will see that the transferability is very important part. Where
- 6:17Speaker 5: that means it's not like somebody just picked up this
- 6:19Speaker 5: stable coin r W A and then you know, just
- 6:22Speaker 5: posted it on on on chain and saying that we
- 6:25Speaker 5: have this many billions of TV. These are actual stable
- 6:28Speaker 5: coins where or these are actual r w A assets
- 6:32Speaker 5: which are which actually have transferability and payments and you
- 6:35Speaker 5: know money movement around that, and we are very focused
- 6:38Speaker 5: on the payments and maney movements.
- 6:39Speaker 4: So this is one of them.
- 6:41Speaker 5: But if you see, if like if anybody is interested,
- 6:44Speaker 5: like you see the last six months of uh you know,
- 6:47Speaker 5: Polygon's journey, you will see multiple European big banks, multiple
- 6:52Speaker 5: uh you know banks across the world generally. Also they
- 6:55Speaker 5: have launched these large hedge funds or other kind of
- 6:58Speaker 5: their en As our w is on chain and we
- 7:02Speaker 5: are continuing to see. This is like a very small
- 7:05Speaker 5: thing compared to what is happening right now and which
- 7:08Speaker 5: you are going to hear in the few weeks coming
- 7:10Speaker 5: a few weeks. Unfortunately under ND I can't say, but
- 7:13Speaker 5: you will see, like you know.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Multiple multi trillion dollar.
- 7:17Speaker 5: You know asset managers are coming alike and doing much
- 7:21Speaker 5: bigger stuff.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I like it.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Well, that's that's a good indicator I think where we're
- 7:25Speaker 1: going to see a lot of this moving in the
- 7:28Speaker 1: near future, especially with tokenized assets flowing and compelling into
- 7:32Speaker 1: the market. I'm looking at this data right here. This
- 7:36Speaker 1: is USDC monthly transfer volume on Robinhood and if you
- 7:40Speaker 1: can see Polygon actually doing very well over here. So
- 7:44Speaker 1: my question is why do we not have Polygon listed
- 7:49Speaker 1: on Robinhood?
- 7:51Speaker 4: What is it?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I what's happening here?
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to take this.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to take the clip from here and
- 7:59Speaker 5: then you know we tag Robinood people or ping them
- 8:02Speaker 5: absolutely right, like you go and check the check the
- 8:04Speaker 5: Stripe statistics. Also like Stripe, the largest amount of volumes
- 8:08Speaker 5: happen on Polygon only first Stripe, right, and you are
- 8:10Speaker 5: going to again like again I'm not saying, but this
- 8:13Speaker 5: probably coming Thursday, like I think seventeenth, you are going
- 8:17Speaker 5: to see one of like one of the biggest and
- 8:19Speaker 5: the largest, you know, FinTechs in the world. Also, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 5: kind of announcing their move on Polygon. And you know
- 8:25Speaker 5: these things are happening at because all you are like
- 8:29Speaker 5: now finally able to see this because these things are
- 8:31Speaker 5: compounding now for us, right and we but we have
- 8:34Speaker 5: been at working this for the last six to twelve months,
- 8:37Speaker 5: and I want to remind the reminder viewers also like
- 8:39Speaker 5: back in the day when Polygon was a you know,
- 8:41Speaker 5: the you talked about the price chart and all that
- 8:43Speaker 5: when it was peak of it's you know this thing.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Then at that time, we were doing more if you remember,
- 8:51Speaker 5: enterprises like from Starbucks to Coola to the to the
- 8:54Speaker 5: biggest of the biggest were actually launching on Polygon and
- 8:58Speaker 5: what that that is what we get more instead of
- 9:01Speaker 5: mean coins and all that where we get less like
- 9:03Speaker 5: our DNA, like my DNA personally is not a very
- 9:06Speaker 5: speculative you know, you know of the kind. And so
- 9:11Speaker 5: the utility is what we see and we are good
- 9:13Speaker 5: at and I think, like good good to see that
- 9:15Speaker 5: the markets are actually coming into the utility side, and
- 9:18Speaker 5: that is where we are pushing very heavily.
- 9:21Speaker 1: When you look at USDG, this of course is focusing
- 9:24Speaker 1: on Solana right now, and you compare that what happens
- 9:28Speaker 1: when robinhood enables USDG. Do you think this is going
- 9:31Speaker 1: to explode the use of this stable coin into the market,
- 9:35Speaker 1: especially with their distribution right now.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think like the USDG is expected
- 9:42Speaker 5: to expect it to or probably like is going to
- 9:45Speaker 5: launch very very soon on Polygon also, and I think
- 9:48Speaker 5: this this is like a stage wise launch for them,
- 9:51Speaker 5: and I definitely feel that, you know, Polygon being one
- 9:55Speaker 5: of the premiere, you know, kind of areas for the
- 9:59Speaker 5: state coin launch. I think USDG will also be launching
- 10:04Speaker 5: pretty quickly. And I know for a fact that the
- 10:07Speaker 5: teams are discussing like how we can also help them
- 10:12Speaker 5: to get more and more distribution on our polygon because it's.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Fairly still fairly new, new and at lead days for USDG.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Other big news, of course is poly Market announced a
- 10:23Speaker 1: big press release here with TKO that's basically the UFC.
- 10:27Speaker 1: This is kind of interesting to me visualizing fans sentiment
- 10:31Speaker 1: and perceived momentum that can compliments, not competes with regulated
- 10:35Speaker 1: sports petting. Obviously poly Market living on Polygon, this could
- 10:39Speaker 1: be pretty big for you guys. Fan prediction scoreboard during
- 10:44Speaker 1: UFC broadcast likelihood is going to make this even more aware.
- 10:47Speaker 1: What do you think about this kind of move when
- 10:50Speaker 1: you look at Polymarket.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Well, I myself, I'm a big UFC fan, a big
- 10:54Speaker 5: MMA fan, and you know I never miss the UFC
- 10:59Speaker 5: main events especially, and you know, this is a very
- 11:02Speaker 5: proud movement for me, Like you know, Polymarket being directly
- 11:07Speaker 5: integrated into USDC, so into UFC, it's phenomenal, right, Like
- 11:11Speaker 5: the kind of like exponential growth. We are seeing that
- 11:15Speaker 5: from Google to Yahoo Finance integrations and you know Nyz
- 11:20Speaker 5: integrating it. I think, you know, they have shown that
- 11:24Speaker 5: this exponential curve can be achieved. It became this big
- 11:28Speaker 5: in the first place. The early momentum came in because
- 11:31Speaker 5: it had blockchain and transparency and you know, the transparent
- 11:34Speaker 5: resolution of the markets and all that. And I think
- 11:37Speaker 5: this has this is a big show to various kind
- 11:41Speaker 5: of builders out there who are building in Web two
- 11:45Speaker 5: and they might see that Okay, using Web three you
- 11:47Speaker 5: can build these user flows which can actually bring you
- 11:51Speaker 5: to this exponential trajectory.
- 11:52Speaker 4: So I think Polymarket not only.
- 11:54Speaker 5: For prediction markets, it's a big, big win for the
- 11:57Speaker 5: entire Web three space, not only for Polygon, not only
- 11:59Speaker 5: for theium, but the whole space that the apps built
- 12:02Speaker 5: in Web three can become this big.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I agree.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I think we're going to see an explosion. Obviously, Polymarket
- 12:07Speaker 1: most likely going to launch a token here pretty soon.
- 12:10Speaker 1: My question sand deep to you, do you think they'll
- 12:12Speaker 1: launch it on Polygon or Solana.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I think that the coin they should actually launch on
- 12:18Speaker 5: ethereum itself. Like the you know, all the companies that
- 12:21Speaker 5: have been the standard generally that the base coin should
- 12:26Speaker 5: be launched on Ethereum, and that can be like you know,
- 12:28Speaker 5: air drop to their users on Polygon or wherever.
- 12:31Speaker 4: They are using.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Right, I am a big believer of like the base
- 12:35Speaker 5: value should stay on the maximum decent life settlement layer.
- 12:39Speaker 5: And I consider that Ethereum and Bitcoin are the only
- 12:41Speaker 5: two chains which which can claim that that they are
- 12:43Speaker 5: the true settlement layers in Web three. So for a
- 12:46Speaker 5: company as big as Polymarket, I would recommend them to
- 12:49Speaker 5: launch on Ethereum.
- 12:50Speaker 4: The token based token should launch.
- 12:52Speaker 5: On Ethereum, and for distribution and all that they can use,
- 12:55Speaker 5: you know, obviously Polygon leg which is a cheap and
- 12:57Speaker 5: faster execution environment.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Like I don't see the change as l ones and
- 13:01Speaker 4: l two's.
- 13:02Speaker 5: I see them as execution environments and settlement environments. Okay,
- 13:05Speaker 5: Ethereum is maximally decentralized with thousands and thousands validators.
- 13:09Speaker 4: That's where the value stays.
- 13:11Speaker 5: And then for doing the user transactions use an execution
- 13:13Speaker 5: layer like Polygon.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Well, hey, Shane watches the show, so he's probably listening
- 13:18Speaker 1: to this right now. Hopefully, Hey listen, I'm looking at
- 13:22Speaker 1: some of your upgrades here. Obviously the RIO upgrade. What
- 13:25Speaker 1: does this look like for poly market, especially around what
- 13:28Speaker 1: we'll see on payments or in general, how is this
- 13:31Speaker 1: Does it change anything major?
- 13:33Speaker 5: So yeah, obviously one of the most important thing that
- 13:36Speaker 5: it provides is as I told you that we you know,
- 13:39Speaker 5: started with this two hundred tps start of this year
- 13:42Speaker 5: and then you know, we are already at around fifteen
- 13:44Speaker 5: hundred tps and we recently had our RIO upgrade which
- 13:47Speaker 5: allows us to now go to up to five thousand
- 13:50Speaker 5: tps within three to six months and then from their
- 13:53Speaker 5: scale in the next twelve to twenty four months two
- 13:55Speaker 5: hundred thousand tps, like you know, to give you an example,
- 13:58Speaker 5: at five thousand tps, polygon chain will be more performant
- 14:01Speaker 5: than probably Solana, which is really popular for its high
- 14:04Speaker 5: throughput high performance.
- 14:05Speaker 4: You know, I want to achieve.
- 14:06Speaker 5: Is these sticky payments, you know, stable coin usages, money
- 14:11Speaker 5: movement usages, which are very sticky instead of the speculative
- 14:14Speaker 5: activity which goes up and comes down right you know,
- 14:16Speaker 5: as the speculative cycles.
- 14:18Speaker 4: That is the goal.
- 14:19Speaker 5: So if we take it to you know, five thousand
- 14:21Speaker 5: tps early next year and then you know, up to
- 14:24Speaker 5: two hundred thousand TPS within twenty twenty six hundred and seven,
- 14:27Speaker 5: I think if we have a deliberate chance of you know,
- 14:31Speaker 5: kind of competing these because these these open web rails,
- 14:35Speaker 5: open money rails, are eventually going to compete with the
- 14:39Speaker 5: you know, the.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Traditional money rails.
- 14:41Speaker 5: And you know, one hundred thousand TPS is basically puts
- 14:44Speaker 5: poly on at like you know, the visa or the
- 14:47Speaker 5: MasterCard kind of ips, and I think that's fundamentally needed.
- 14:50Speaker 5: And then we have a lot of payment related stuffs
- 14:52Speaker 5: coming up, like you know, which is very some of
- 14:55Speaker 5: the very innovative stuff like you know, priority lanes for
- 14:58Speaker 5: certain kind of payments setting out of and whatnot. So
- 15:01Speaker 5: as those open up, that will also open up the
- 15:04Speaker 5: space for more revenue for the protocol.
- 15:06Speaker 1: This is well, that could be huge, I think in
- 15:08Speaker 1: terms of the way that you're constructing it there, I
- 15:11Speaker 1: think that is a new kind of a new way
- 15:13Speaker 1: to look at it.
- 15:14Speaker 2: For sure.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'm looking at the L two B. This is in
- 15:18Speaker 1: reference to just ranking the roll ups here and being
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, more I guess more related to eth versus
- 15:25Speaker 1: where you guys are right now in comparison. What do
- 15:29Speaker 1: you think, uh, what, first of all, why not be
- 15:33Speaker 1: more correlated to eth especially to be like in here
- 15:36Speaker 1: with Arbitrum and Base and you know optimism, et cetera.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, see basically this is this, this L two
- 15:43Speaker 5: beats is based on a certain like kind of construction,
- 15:47Speaker 5: which is basically the layer two construction, which is based
- 15:50Speaker 5: on the kind of proofs this end. So polygon pos
- 15:54Speaker 5: sends a specific kind of like consensus proof instead of
- 15:58Speaker 5: instead of like a ZK or optimistic proof, and that
- 16:01Speaker 5: allows polygon ps to be extremely cheap because others like
- 16:05Speaker 5: you know these Arbitrum and you know other Base and
- 16:08Speaker 5: all the other l toos, they are sending their data
- 16:10Speaker 5: and proofs to ethereum, so their transactions are sometimes costly.
- 16:15Speaker 5: In case of polygon pos those transactions and data because
- 16:20Speaker 5: we are not sending all the transactions to ethereum.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So that has benefits to the gas fees.
- 16:25Speaker 5: And we right now want to capture more and more
- 16:29Speaker 5: of the usage and the users by providing an extremely
- 16:33Speaker 5: low gas fiece environment instead of like right now you know,
- 16:37Speaker 5: going for as you said that, you know, being part
- 16:38Speaker 5: of these charts and whatnot, and the zero knowledge technology
- 16:42Speaker 5: which will allow us to be you know, part of
- 16:45Speaker 5: this uh, as you said that, you know, the front
- 16:48Speaker 5: part of the l tw BE which will allow us
- 16:51Speaker 5: that we will that we will enable only when the
- 16:53Speaker 5: Z technology scales by at least one order of magnitude
- 16:57Speaker 5: more so that we can offer those cheap you know,
- 17:00Speaker 5: payment transactions to the end users that we are providing today.
- 17:03Speaker 4: And that's the main reasons.
- 17:05Speaker 1: How much cheaper would you say it is right now
- 17:08Speaker 1: in comparison to say Base, you know, which is the
- 17:10Speaker 1: number two roll up chain right here.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Yeah, so I think like generally with Base, it's most
- 17:16Speaker 5: of the time five to ten times cheaper than the
- 17:19Speaker 5: cheaper than an average transaction. Okay, well that's significant, but
- 17:22Speaker 5: even in the congested times, it's like at par with Base.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking at Okay, so I know I'm peppering
- 17:28Speaker 1: you with a lot of questions. I'm trying to get
- 17:30Speaker 1: caught up on everything that Polygon is doing. You look
- 17:33Speaker 1: at Katana, which has been able to grow their dex
- 17:36Speaker 1: volumes significantly. Do you think this is going to surpass Polygons?
- 17:41Speaker 1: I mean, look at that we're setting at one point
- 17:43Speaker 1: one five billion right now at Katana. This is crazy.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Do you think this could surpass Polygon? TVL yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 5: So Katana basically you see like Polygon has Polygon chain
- 17:53Speaker 5: and the other product Polygon has his AGG layer, which
- 17:55Speaker 5: allows other chains to.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Long from them.
- 17:57Speaker 5: So Katana is a chain that Polygon incubated with a
- 18:00Speaker 5: few other partners and whatnot. And you have many such
- 18:04Speaker 5: changs like you have X layer, okx is X layer,
- 18:07Speaker 5: and then we have some of the biggest brands like
- 18:09Speaker 5: finance brands in the world who are also going to launch,
- 18:11Speaker 5: and then AG layer provides the interoperability service to these chains.
- 18:15Speaker 5: They where the AG layer makes money, right, like the
- 18:18Speaker 5: which money goes goes back to also pole holders, right,
- 18:21Speaker 5: so the poleholders the poll token makes money or gets
- 18:25Speaker 5: the revenue from the pos chain, which is the Polygon
- 18:28Speaker 5: chain where the users are doing these payments and all
- 18:30Speaker 5: these transactions. And then the AG layer which has these
- 18:34Speaker 5: chains like Katana, and so many of these X layer,
- 18:37Speaker 5: Lumia and Hunt. You know, at least tens of these chains,
- 18:40Speaker 5: and by the end of next year probably like hundreds.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Of these chains. These chains the use.
- 18:45Speaker 5: AG layer for the interoperability service where they pay very
- 18:48Speaker 5: small fees to two poleholders. So these are the two
- 18:51Speaker 5: main revenue sources. So Katana because it's a pure DeFi chain.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Like as you ask, like you know, this might go
- 18:58Speaker 5: beyond like Polygon po chain that that is the total
- 19:02Speaker 5: value locked, and it might go But the purpose of
- 19:05Speaker 5: these two chains is very different. Like when you say
- 19:07Speaker 5: that when you see the TVL, it is the TVL
- 19:10Speaker 5: locked in the defile protocols, whereas the Polygon chain is
- 19:13Speaker 5: primarily focused on payment. So obviously those stable coins are
- 19:16Speaker 5: not going to show in the TVL of the defile protocols,
- 19:20Speaker 5: whereas the on Katana, they're all that. All the TVL
- 19:22Speaker 5: that goes there is show shows up on the TVL
- 19:25Speaker 5: of the on the product.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Right, So on.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Polygon Polygon chain, for example, you have three hundred and
- 19:31Speaker 5: I think three point five billion dollars in stable coins,
- 19:34Speaker 5: and other coins also include three billions, So Polygon is
- 19:37Speaker 5: actually at six billion dollars if you look at the
- 19:40Speaker 5: total value.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Six in comparison, yeah, versus the one.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Point, it's much. It's a much much bigger environment than that.
- 19:48Speaker 5: But Katana is fully focused only on a specific DeFi
- 19:52Speaker 5: use case.
- 19:52Speaker 4: It's a DeFi super app.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I will say, speaking of DeFi use cases, vaults are
- 19:58Speaker 1: becoming a huge thing. We're to see other chains out there.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Danie is of course over on sweet Network is launching
- 20:04Speaker 1: stuff there. You can kind of see with kai finance,
- 20:07Speaker 1: what's the best way to earn yields in volts and
- 20:11Speaker 1: safest on Polygon right now, so.
- 20:14Speaker 5: The best and the stafest, like we have Waltz, like
- 20:18Speaker 5: Morpho is actually launched on Polygon and you know, people
- 20:22Speaker 5: can have their deposit lending activities on there. Then on
- 20:25Speaker 5: the AG layer ecosystem you have Katana and probably like
- 20:28Speaker 5: a bunch of volts on the AG layer side. Also,
- 20:31Speaker 5: plus we have a particular product. So another thing which
- 20:34Speaker 5: I did not mention, like on top of AG layer,
- 20:36Speaker 5: we have this Valt bridge, which is currently like probably
- 20:38Speaker 5: you know, also already growing as one of the top
- 20:41Speaker 5: walls in the space, is where people bridge into the
- 20:44Speaker 5: AG layer and the AG layer connected chains so that
- 20:48Speaker 5: you know, kind of puts your stable coins and the
- 20:50Speaker 5: money into a lending borrowing protocol and ethereum where those
- 20:54Speaker 5: coins can be lend borrow and then you earn a
- 20:56Speaker 5: yield on that and then you know a.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Representative token is given on the other side.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Right, so you let's say you moved on hundred thousand
- 21:02Speaker 5: dollars onto a chain, onto a let's say Katana or
- 21:06Speaker 5: some aglier chain, you get you know, your yield of
- 21:10Speaker 5: one hundred thousand dollars on ethereum and then plus you
- 21:13Speaker 5: are also you're getting your hundred thousand dollars on the
- 21:16Speaker 5: other side on the chain to do your activity.
- 21:18Speaker 4: So you literally, like you know, also making yield.
- 21:20Speaker 5: If you take those table coins and put it in
- 21:22Speaker 5: a DeFi pool, you also get yield on that. So
- 21:25Speaker 5: that's the DeFi super charging Katana does, and that's enabled
- 21:29Speaker 5: by a wold bridge. That is another protocol, another protocol
- 21:32Speaker 5: of Polygonia.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Listen, we've been covering Courtyard for a long time. If
- 21:36Speaker 1: you look at where Courtyard is currently, I'm just looking
- 21:40Speaker 1: at the DeFi LAMA data here and you can also
- 21:43Speaker 1: see a good comparison of where they're ranking in comparison
- 21:47Speaker 1: to you know, some of the other big platforms out
- 21:49Speaker 1: there like Busy and figitals. What about if Courtyard doesn't
- 21:54Speaker 1: open its platform up. Do you think that's going to
- 21:57Speaker 1: be a deterrent for Courtyard to grow? What are your
- 22:00Speaker 1: thoughts about Courtyard right now?
- 22:02Speaker 5: For Courtyard, first of all, like the team is absolutely
- 22:05Speaker 5: one of the best teams that I've seen executing like
- 22:08Speaker 5: I think because of polymarket, they get overshadowed, but people
- 22:11Speaker 5: don't realize that they might be the second or the third,
- 22:14Speaker 5: like the third largest or the fastest growing app which
- 22:18Speaker 5: is actually generating a huge amount of meaningful revenue and
- 22:22Speaker 5: sticky usage.
- 22:24Speaker 4: And you know, I think like that.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I believe in the team that you know, they are
- 22:28Speaker 5: very forward looking. They figured out this market where everybody
- 22:32Speaker 5: thought that you know, their pokemons are also like real
- 22:34Speaker 5: world uh you know, kind of NFTs, right, And a
- 22:38Speaker 5: lot of people initially because NFTs were used to be
- 22:41Speaker 5: these abstract artwork NFTs and pfps and all that, and
- 22:44Speaker 5: a lot of people discarded that you know, this is
- 22:47Speaker 5: this will not succeed.
- 22:47Speaker 4: This has never succeeded the real world NFTs on blockchains.
- 22:51Speaker 5: And what you are seeing now with Courtyard proving that,
- 22:56Speaker 5: you know, I think that you know a lot of
- 22:57Speaker 5: this is going to happen.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Like digitals, for example, was a big buzzword back in
- 23:02Speaker 4: the day.
- 23:02Speaker 5: But I think Courtyard in a way, like those poke
- 23:05Speaker 5: Pokemon cards can be said in the form of like,
- 23:07Speaker 5: you know, they have a physical card and then you
- 23:09Speaker 5: have a they are physicals only, And I think once
- 23:11Speaker 5: they have proven the success for that, I think similar
- 23:14Speaker 5: kind of categories which have that kind of fan basis.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I think, you know they will and the team will.
- 23:19Speaker 5: I believe in the team that they will be the
- 23:22Speaker 5: you know, kind of fast movers and they will do
- 23:25Speaker 5: whenever they will see that actual business like. They will
- 23:27Speaker 5: not do for hype the team. The way I know
- 23:29Speaker 5: the team, they will not do.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Some things or hype.
- 23:31Speaker 5: They will do it only when they feel that the
- 23:33Speaker 5: revenue margins can be made here.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Well, listen, we'd love to get a warm handshake into
- 23:39Speaker 1: the team because we'd love to have them on the show.
- 23:40Speaker 1: If We've attempted to reach out to them quite a bit,
- 23:44Speaker 1: so hopefully we can get them on.
- 23:46Speaker 2: We'd love to have Courtyard one hundred percent.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I will, I will, I will get it done.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, all right.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Last question to you is on the meme coins scenario
- 23:54Speaker 1: that's playing out. I'm We're on tex screener right now,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and of course I don't see that many meme coins
- 24:00Speaker 1: coming in on Polygon. We've seen them on Suite, we've
- 24:03Speaker 1: seen on Avalanche. Is that the problem is there's just
- 24:05Speaker 1: too many on other other chains that it's just not
- 24:09Speaker 1: really beneficial to.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Start to go in this direction. What are your thoughts.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I mean, see, like we we could never like as
- 24:15Speaker 5: I said, it's about the DNA and we you know,
- 24:18Speaker 5: we would love to have these meme coins and other
- 24:21Speaker 5: kind of trading activity on the chain. But I basically
- 24:25Speaker 5: I think like as a team, we don't have the
- 24:27Speaker 5: DNA to have these you know, meme coins to grow
- 24:30Speaker 5: these meme coins. Like the chains where you see these
- 24:33Speaker 5: meme coin activity a lot, you see the team's DNA
- 24:36Speaker 5: is also very you.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Know, kind of aligned to that.
- 24:40Speaker 5: Like for us, I think Solana communities like that, like
- 24:42Speaker 5: you know, they are really really cool for these meme
- 24:46Speaker 5: coins and all that. Like you know, we were never
- 24:47Speaker 5: like that, and so we never really ventured into the
- 24:50Speaker 5: meme coins properly, to be honest, like they were like
- 24:52Speaker 5: there was ven dot markets. There was a small attempt
- 24:55Speaker 5: like that, but we could never understand the whole market,
- 24:58Speaker 5: and by by now, like the market is already yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Well, and I think if you look at the strength
- 25:03Speaker 1: of Solana and maybe even Sweet to a certain extent,
- 25:06Speaker 1: meme was probably a cornerstone of them supporting it, which
- 25:11Speaker 1: is maybe why we didn't see the strength coming out
- 25:13Speaker 1: of the Polygon token in general during that cycle. You know,
- 25:17Speaker 1: obviously things will change as payments in our deb a
- 25:20Speaker 1: plays into the strength of the market for what you
- 25:23Speaker 1: guys are doing, especially with your consistency around stable coins,
- 25:27Speaker 1: so it'll be interesting to watch the growth over the
- 25:30Speaker 1: next few months.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Sandy. But it's been great having you on.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'm surprised and uh kind of happy at the same
- 25:35Speaker 1: time that we finally got you on the show.
- 25:37Speaker 2: But thanks for coming in today. We appreciate it.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Thanks one made me would love you come back again.
- 25:42Speaker 2: We'll get you back for sure.
