- 0:00Speaker 1: Expended in Riverton. What he likes men and women from
- 0:04Speaker 1: Riverton's No, what am I doing?
- 0:06Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 0:08Speaker 1: You know what? Do you know? What it is? I've
- 0:10Speaker 1: had too much of this cinnamon roll and the sugar
- 0:13Speaker 1: has gone.
- 0:13Speaker 2: To them already.
- 0:14Speaker 1: That's what's happened here.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Oh well is this sis?
- 0:17Speaker 1: No?
- 0:21Speaker 2: What hey, Katie control you bring in some paper towels.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's the donut critic.
- 0:31Speaker 2: The sweet cinnamon roll critic. Now, Ben, where are these from? So?
- 0:39Speaker 3: These are from Orum? And I know I do.
- 0:42Speaker 4: A lot of stuff from Utah County, but we got
- 0:44Speaker 4: to get out more and I do stuff from Salt
- 0:46Speaker 4: Lake two. But yes, these are sunshine buns down in Orum.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Wow, we got sunshine bun. So now what I did?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Start with the takeaway?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Okay, So there's there's a few different things you guys
- 1:02Speaker 4: are eating today. So there is a location down an
- 1:05Speaker 4: Orum where you can get freshly baked rolls. And that's
- 1:08Speaker 4: one plate that you guys have. There's a iced version,
- 1:12Speaker 4: and then there's a cream cheese version and then a
- 1:14Speaker 4: raspberry crumple. So they have some rotating flavors. They some
- 1:18Speaker 4: different options there. So if you're on the run, if
- 1:20Speaker 4: you want to go into orum.
- 1:23Speaker 3: They are perfect to get there ready to go.
- 1:25Speaker 2: On the run. You mean, like if you've robbed a bank.
- 1:27Speaker 4: If you've robbed a bank, you want to send them
- 1:29Speaker 4: and roll and there's something that, yeah, that's there. The
- 1:33Speaker 4: other plate is actually more or less like a taken bake.
- 1:37Speaker 4: So you buy them in the freezer section delious, and
- 1:40Speaker 4: you warm them up and then they.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Each have their own little icing packet, which is amazing.
- 1:46Speaker 4: And so I wanted to give you guys that side
- 1:48Speaker 4: by side because this company really is genius and the
- 1:52Speaker 4: trajectory that they're on is of dreams.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:56Speaker 4: So back in twenty twenty two, this couple and and
- 2:00Speaker 4: one of their friends, they were gone to date night
- 2:02Speaker 4: and they decided, Hey, maybe we should do this cinnamon
- 2:06Speaker 4: role idea that we've you know, I don't know how
- 2:07Speaker 4: long they've been back and forth on it, but they
- 2:11Speaker 4: created an Instagram page the next day, started selling and
- 2:14Speaker 4: sold out immediately.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:17Speaker 4: And I mean, think about how many dreams you've had
- 2:19Speaker 4: about doing a bakery or creating something, and this one
- 2:24Speaker 4: really is for the dreams because within a few years
- 2:27Speaker 4: they opened their first location. You know, they were doing
- 2:30Speaker 4: online orders between two, twenty two and twenty twenty four
- 2:33Speaker 4: when they opened their their store and it just was
- 2:38Speaker 4: kind of like Gangbusters. You know, they were just growing,
- 2:40Speaker 4: they were selling out, and they were thinking, we've got
- 2:42Speaker 4: to do something more, and it just had more legs
- 2:45Speaker 4: than just a location, because I think that's what sometimes
- 2:48Speaker 4: happens with bakeries.
- 2:49Speaker 3: They create a location, they.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Have a dream to do more and more and more,
- 2:53Speaker 4: and then they get a little burned out.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Or they don't know how to grow it.
- 2:56Speaker 4: They don't know how to grow it, and so it
- 2:58Speaker 4: just is a one location, which which isn't bad. I
- 3:01Speaker 4: mean sometimes that is like a great dream. But this
- 3:04Speaker 4: also blossomed into now you can get them at Associated
- 3:08Speaker 4: Foods in all of Utah. Yeah, so five hundred stores.
- 3:13Speaker 4: You can get these in the freezer section. This just
- 3:15Speaker 4: launched in January, so this is new.
- 3:17Speaker 2: This is they're called Sunshine Buns.
- 3:20Speaker 1: In the Harmon's, Macy's fresh Market.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Lee's yep. So there's so many different options. And that
- 3:27Speaker 4: really is like the icing on the cake or icing
- 3:30Speaker 4: on the roll, is that they've been able to take
- 3:32Speaker 4: it from simple and online to now, I mean, look
- 3:36Speaker 4: at where they're at now, Like you can get them anywhere.
- 3:39Speaker 1: The taking baked thing is nice because maybe you don't
- 3:42Speaker 1: have time to make a cinnamon roll, but you want
- 3:44Speaker 1: it hot out of the oven, fresh, and it's really good.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm I'm I'm always skeptical when I go to
- 3:51Speaker 4: the freezer section and it's a just warm it up
- 3:54Speaker 4: and you know, you don't know what you're gonna get.
- 3:57Speaker 3: These are really good, though, yeahs I.
- 3:59Speaker 4: As I was eating mine, I was like, wow, like
- 4:02Speaker 4: what they could do with roles from frozen to thought
- 4:06Speaker 4: within forty five seconds.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah, sign me up for that.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Now? Which one is this one here? You know? Remember?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Uh?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that one's the original.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So okay, it's very cinnamony. Which is which is that's
- 4:20Speaker 2: a good thing?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 4: So this is a recipe from one of the co
- 4:25Speaker 4: founders and it's forty five years old.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And I was reading up on mema.
- 4:31Speaker 4: That's that's what they call their they got a mem
- 4:33Speaker 4: They've got a me me she's doing, and that's what
- 4:36Speaker 4: the role role is called. But I was reading up that,
- 4:39Speaker 4: you know, in the seventies she had her first cinnamon
- 4:41Speaker 4: role and was like, oh, I'm not satisfied.
- 4:43Speaker 3: There's better out there I can do better.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and so she created something better and she would
- 4:48Speaker 4: sell fundraisers and other things like that. And you know,
- 4:51Speaker 4: it took I guess that many years for the family
- 4:54Speaker 4: to realize we got something here that can go somewhere.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So Mema knew what she was doing.
- 5:00Speaker 4: But yeah, but Mema is an icing So the thing
- 5:03Speaker 4: that I really like about this shop too is they
- 5:05Speaker 4: do offer icing and cream cheese.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Because I was gonna say, I am not the only
- 5:10Speaker 1: one that does not like a cream cheese frosting. So
- 5:14Speaker 1: I appreciated Ice Chain, you, Sunshine Buns, and Mema for
- 5:21Speaker 1: understanding this.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Mema was definitely an icing person, obviously, because that's
- 5:25Speaker 4: what's on the original roll. But I am a cream
- 5:28Speaker 4: cheese fan, and I love that they put extra cinnamon
- 5:31Speaker 4: on top, and so you get that cream cheese flavor
- 5:34Speaker 4: and then that other punch of cinnamon.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I really like that.
- 5:37Speaker 5: So you're this is serious, fully baked. He need forty
- 5:41Speaker 5: five seconds in the microwave.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so you don't that's what you.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Guys, no, no oven, Yeah, and that's what you guys got.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I literally pulled him out. I threw him in the
- 5:50Speaker 4: microwave before I came in here and you guys were
- 5:53Speaker 4: able to dress it up. You know, it's got this
- 5:54Speaker 4: little icing packet and you you have the cookies and
- 5:58Speaker 4: cream version that are in the the freezer section.
- 6:01Speaker 2: So it's excellent.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Yeah no, And like I said, this is just one
- 6:06Speaker 4: of those stories you love to follow. It's a Utah
- 6:08Speaker 4: company that really just had that dream and they have
- 6:11Speaker 4: really blown it up into something that you can enjoy.
- 6:14Speaker 4: I'm gonna take my bag for super Bowl because who
- 6:19Speaker 4: knows how, you know, who knows how the super Bowl
- 6:21Speaker 4: is going, and you know, it might just start centering
- 6:24Speaker 4: around the food, you know, because the game is so bad,
- 6:26Speaker 4: whether it's a blowout or whatnot. And so it'd be
- 6:29Speaker 4: easy to just pop one of those in the freezer
- 6:32Speaker 4: and eat your sorrow's way.
- 6:34Speaker 2: But so it's Sunshine Buns ten eighty six State Street, Orum.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Here's a billboard. You've been staring at our buns for days,
- 6:44Speaker 2: Just go buy them Sunshine Buns.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Somebody's asking are the founders the famous Zoomba sisters? Do
- 6:50Speaker 1: they have anything to do with Zoomba?
- 6:52Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 6:52Speaker 4: So the founders are Chrissy and Matt Hammer and their
- 6:57Speaker 4: friends Brian and Cass Martin.
- 7:00Speaker 3: So is it the Zumba. I'm not sure.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Let's let's look it up, but I wouldn't be uh surprised.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I mean, does buns and Zuba?
- 7:09Speaker 1: I could kind of see that.
- 7:10Speaker 5: But their their main focus now is the frozen section
- 7:14Speaker 5: of the grocery store.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I would recommend going down to Orum to try
- 7:18Speaker 4: them hot and fresh, and they have flavor rotations that
- 7:20Speaker 4: I think won't be available in the grocery store. So yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 4: if you're in Orum, go down try them fresh, and
- 7:26Speaker 4: then yeah, try them in the freezer. They're going to
- 7:29Speaker 4: be in Windco in March, I think, and who knows,
- 7:32Speaker 4: and beyond it could be.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Costco, it could be other thing.
- 7:34Speaker 4: And that's kind of the fun things of seeing these
- 7:37Speaker 4: Utah brands just grow and kind of flutter nationwide and
- 7:40Speaker 4: and uh, we'll see where they go on it.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Amazing. It's interesting, you say, and you don't you would
- 7:46Speaker 2: think this would be not that you would think it
- 7:49Speaker 2: would be common, but you say, there's no other product
- 7:52Speaker 2: like this.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, just a take and freeze and thaw from a
- 7:55Speaker 4: cinnamon role, especially at this high quality. I feel like
- 7:58Speaker 4: sometimes you know, you see the TV type dinners and
- 8:01Speaker 4: they have like their attempts at dessert. Yeah, those you're
- 8:05Speaker 4: not going to eat those. But something like this, it's
- 8:08Speaker 4: it's delicious. And most of the what you get in
- 8:10Speaker 4: the freezer section are you have to still make them
- 8:13Speaker 4: or bake them or whatnot. And these are right in
- 8:16Speaker 4: the microwave and you get something delicious.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Are this raspberry? There are? Actually it's raspberry. I mean
- 8:22Speaker 2: it's not fake raspberry, it's really rat It just amazes me.
- 8:26Speaker 2: You did this in the microwave though, That's what blows.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Me, right, And so you could be at home and
- 8:31Speaker 3: do it yourself exactly.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Let's go let's go home.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you just.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Got back from from Hawaii. Maybe sometimes you can give
- 8:42Speaker 1: us some Hawaii.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I will.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna be Yeah, I'm going to do a couple
- 8:45Speaker 4: of posts because I did Leonards, I did Pennies, I
- 8:48Speaker 4: did all these malisadas, did all the Sawahu food. If
- 8:51Speaker 4: you want to go to donut critic on Instagram, I
- 8:53Speaker 4: have highlights. But yeah, ask me any questions. I have
- 8:56Speaker 4: a lot of recommendations. Excellent, I think so, Ben, Thank
- 8:59Speaker 4: you very much, thank you certain
- 9:02Speaker 2: Alright,
