- 0:00Hi folks, this is Rick Doc. Walker to DOC this.
- 0:02Is John Kime and you're listening to the mess hall with
- 0:05Rally Captain and Tailgate 10. What's going on?
- 0:09Rally You ready for the season to be almost over?
- 0:13Well, that's why I'm wearing blue Ted, because I'm blue, but
- 0:16at the same time I'm seeing red. So you see, I've got all the
- 0:20gamuts of the colors here. I'm blue that the season is
- 0:23over, but I'm I'm red because of how the season ended up, if that
- 0:27makes sense. But to make a Long story short,
- 0:30yes, let's get this thing out of here like 2025 and start the
- 0:352026 year new. What about you, man?
- 0:40I can't wait for the season to be done, man, which it pains me,
- 0:43right, because in a couple of, you know, maybe a month or two,
- 0:47we'll be just kind of dying for football again, all right?
- 0:51And yeah, I've got DC defenders season tickets and they're
- 0:55defending champion, but it's not the same that even come close.
- 0:59Nothing comes close to the NFL, right?
- 1:02And it's but right now I I was looking at my my FanDuel bets
- 1:08that are not settled yet and like Jane Daniels, MVP Dan
- 1:13Quinn, coach of the year commanders to win the NFC East
- 1:17thinking I don't know that's a loser.
- 1:19That's a loser. Like can you just take it off my
- 1:21list now because right, winning the east, Jane's not getting
- 1:25MVPDQ would definitely getting coach of the year.
- 1:27Some people think he's on the hot seat and should be gone or
- 1:31not us. But you know, it's just word
- 1:33around out there. So 25 was it was frustrating,
- 1:38man. And I know for those wondering,
- 1:41it's the 30th right now. So New Year's Eve, Eve, and I
- 1:46cannot wait until 2026 comes around.
- 1:48More importantly, football 2026. And we still got a ways for that
- 1:52to go. But yeah, it's I'm feeling right
- 1:55there with you, man. Definitely blue.
- 1:57But is that a wizard's hat? Because there's no way that's a
- 1:59commander's hat. Yeah, it's a wizard's hat.
- 2:03OK, all right. It it's tough to see on the Zoom
- 2:05screen. I'm sitting looking at her like
- 2:07I know my eyes are going bad ish, but OK.
- 2:11I was going to ask Mehta what the hell that was in your head.
- 2:14But man, it's a we didn't do a show after the Cowboys game
- 2:18because obviously that game was on Christmas and then it was a
- 2:20Friday after Christmas and spending time with the family
- 2:23for the holidays. But couple of takeaways from
- 2:27that game. I'm I'm proud of the fans that
- 2:29showed up, right. We had more people than I
- 2:32expected out there. There were more fans than I
- 2:35expected in the stadium considering.
- 2:36And I think the weather helped out with that.
- 2:39I mean, what was your perception walking around that day?
- 2:42Well, I knew that I was going to see a lot of blue and silver.
- 2:47I mean, we already talked about it.
- 2:49It's Christmas. You got a lot of people who
- 2:52decided when the schedule came out, hey, we're going to make
- 2:54this my family's Christmas gift coming to the nation's capital.
- 2:58So I knew that was going to happen.
- 3:02I got to tell you, I was happy that fans did show up and and it
- 3:09was a pretty good game on on top of that.
- 3:12So you know, I I said in my live on Facebook, it's very hard to
- 3:17win with the third string quarterback, no matter what team
- 3:21you play for. It's just not our team.
- 3:23It's any NFL team. Josh Johnson came out and gave
- 3:26the old, what, 2016 try? I think he's been on I.
- 3:34Think he's been on 20 some odd teams, but he gave it his best
- 3:39shot. And I and I think that
- 3:41truthfully, we may see, I'm going to speed up a little bit.
- 3:45We may see a better Josh Johnson against the Eagles than we did
- 3:48against the Cowboys because he's getting first string, first
- 3:50string reps, excuse me? And he's got the playbook a
- 3:54little bit better underneath his belt and what he got to lose.
- 4:00Ball out, baby. Yeah, I mean, I was surprised
- 4:05with Josh right when I was telling you the topics before
- 4:07the show, you're like, he did Well.
- 4:09I was like, well, I expected Josh to just poop the bed right
- 4:14when we went down. What was it?
- 4:15Was it 21 to 3? I don't even remember, right.
- 4:18I'm just, I'm sitting there in the stands and I literally I see
- 4:21people leaving and it is the maybe the second quarter like,
- 4:25and I don't blame them. Who wants to spend their
- 4:27Christmas Day like that to get blown out by the Cowboys?
- 4:30But they actually made it interesting.
- 4:32They made it, I don't want to say a game, but we were, we were
- 4:36within reach of that game right towards the end.
- 4:39We only lost by 7. And I appreciate them making it
- 4:43competitive. It could have been like the
- 4:44Seahawks game all over again or the Vikings game where we just
- 4:48got completely shut down. And I don't think anyone would
- 4:50have gave him a hard time about that considering, right?
- 4:53Like you said, we're on our third quarterback.
- 4:56Mariota is out or was out that game and odds are he's going to
- 5:00be out this week. I mean, he's got stitches on his
- 5:03hand. This is DQ.
- 5:04Talk about Marcus. What is the chances of Marcus
- 5:09playing in the final game? Yeah, Nikki, we, he wasn't ready
- 5:12today to participate, you know, like we had a very light jog
- 5:15through. So he wasn't to that spot yet.
- 5:17So until it gets to full speed and can really cut and stop and
- 5:21start, that's when we would say, so I'll have a better sense when
- 5:25I visit with you on Wednesday and if he's able to, you know,
- 5:28resume the type of movements that we had.
- 5:30But as it was today, it'd been a stretch to get there.
- 5:34But I'm hopeful as I have for a few days to see what it could
- 5:37look like. And if he could, like, really be
- 5:40himself, then he'd have a real shot at it.
- 5:42But I don't know that today. So this is what doesn't make
- 5:47sense to me about DQ's combat. I thought he wasn't playing
- 5:50because he's got the stitches on his hand and his hand is
- 5:52swollen, so I don't know what cutting and all that stuff has
- 5:56to do with the guy not being able to throw the ball.
- 5:59I think DQ is ready for the season to end and he thought
- 6:03that they were asking about a different player, but I mean.
- 6:06The other Marcus? Yeah, and that Tyler be honest,
- 6:11isn't going to play this week, right.
- 6:13Tunsil isn't going to play this week.
- 6:15Cosmy isn't going to play this week.
- 6:17So that is three of your five starting offensive lineman that
- 6:20are out. So really, you know, and we we
- 6:25talked about the last show. DQ said we're going to see those
- 6:26guys in two weeks. The same players aren't going to
- 6:29be there from, you know, two weeks ago to this week.
- 6:32So and one of my debates in questions and this kind of came
- 6:37up on the junkies listening to them and I asked JP Finley and
- 6:40Steve Zabin this on JP show when Zabe was filling in for B Mitch
- 6:45Valdez brought up the fact and those that don't know, Valdez is
- 6:48one of the producers for the sports junk.
- 6:49He's a one O 6-7 the fan. Why keep Marcus Mariota?
- 6:54Why not just keep Josh Johnson? Because Mariota is making $8
- 6:58million this year and as a starter, he's one in five is his
- 7:04record. He hasn't lit the world on fire.
- 7:08Next year, just like everything, price go up, price goes up.
- 7:12So odds are he's going to make I'd say maybe around $10 million
- 7:15next year, assuming Mariota wants to stay and he doesn't go
- 7:20to some other team as a starter. Like Minnesota could use a
- 7:23starter or, you know, Atlanta maybe or some other teams.
- 7:27Do you want them to pay him that money knowing what we've seen
- 7:31from him over the past two years?
- 7:33Or do you want them to go with a cheaper second string
- 7:37quarterback? Then they can invest that money
- 7:40into the top, possibly another position.
- 7:44Well, First off, let me say this, My hat goes off to Marcus.
- 7:49I don't think that there's a team that's going to put him in
- 7:52a starting position. I think that ship is sailed.
- 7:56I love Marcus. I'm just looking at the body of
- 7:59work that that he said. I I don't believe that there is
- 8:03a team that would give him an opportunity to be the starting
- 8:06quarterback. I think they've seen enough work
- 8:10from him to say at best, you're going to be our backup.
- 8:15So with that being said, does he want to stay?
- 8:18That's, that's, that's the big question.
- 8:20I'd love to have him, but at the same time, if we're talking, you
- 8:26know, dollars and cents, you might want to look at being
- 8:30going with a younger quarterback, even Josh Johnson,
- 8:33a younger quarterback, hell, even Sam Hartman, another
- 8:37quarterback, because he hasn't played for whatever reason.
- 8:41I I don't know he hasn't played. I mean, if it means bringing the
- 8:45kid who they who did they just bring from from Arizona up here
- 8:50Driscoll, if it means he's the backup now, let it ride at the
- 8:55at this juncture, I have no true answers about this team.
- 9:00I really don't Everywhere I thought we were going to shine.
- 9:03You know, we we we haven't and I know that injury plays a lot
- 9:07into it. I and and no matter what this is
- 9:11my squad so so for for everybody that's listening no, I'm not
- 9:16wavering at all. I just don't know where we go
- 9:19from here Ted I I I really don't now do I have faith that they
- 9:24will figure it out? Yes, I have faith that they will
- 9:29some shape form fashion figure it out.
- 9:33We've got a whole offseason, whether it's throw money at
- 9:36somebody, a lot of people that is because, you know, we can't
- 9:40just throw money at one person. We've got to freaking be a throw
- 9:46a hand grenade and it's got to disperse to a lot of different
- 9:49places. So that's the question.
- 9:54Injuries are a huge part of it, right?
- 9:55Nikki Javala without a tweet on Christmas, 30 players missed a
- 10:00total of 140 games, right? Just let that part sit.
- 10:04Can't win like that. But I think part of the problem
- 10:07is roster construction, right? Noah Brown missed 12 games.
- 10:12You never should have counted on Noah Brown, right?
- 10:15And I'm not saying pay Diami Brown or pay OZ all that money,
- 10:20but you never should have counted on Noah Brown to play
- 10:22all those games. Austin Eckler missed 14 games,
- 10:26went on IR with an Achilles. Austin has not played a full
- 10:29season in quite a long time, right?
- 10:32Dietrich Wise missed 14. OK, that's kind of a fluke
- 10:35thing. Javonte Jean Baptiste missed 12.
- 10:37Or you've got guys that have missed games.
- 10:40But we're not the only team in the NFL that's injured.
- 10:44I think part of the problem is we had a roster that when
- 10:49healthy can compete with anybody, but when not healthy,
- 10:54our true depth showed that the cover was bare, that they were
- 10:59just sort of lipstick, you know, putting lipstick on a pig last
- 11:03year with Jayden and that young man is so special that he could
- 11:08make a subpar roster look amazing.
- 11:11Well, he's gone. Jayden missed eight games with
- 11:16his knee, his hamstring and his elbow.
- 11:18And guess what? That roster, all the warts are
- 11:21there, front and center. You can see everything.
- 11:24And I think part of that is all right.
- 11:27We went all in after being four quarters from the Super Bowl,
- 11:32but we didn't address the depth problems that we've had since
- 11:37before Rivera was here. And we mortgage a future to
- 11:41bring in guys like Tonsil, to bring in guys like Lattimore.
- 11:45And that recalibration that they talked about last season.
- 11:51If Jaden's hurt, it's a rebuild. It's not a recalibration.
- 11:56No, yeah. That's what has me concerned
- 11:59about 2026 right now. Well, Ted, as I said earlier,
- 12:05where are you going to put your money or where are they going to
- 12:08put their money? What are they eyeing?
- 12:12What do they see? Because we as fans have an idea
- 12:16of what we want. But obviously we we've been in
- 12:19this game long enough to know that what we want doesn't always
- 12:23transfer to what they want. So at this time, I got to tell
- 12:29you, man, I can't even think about that, Ted.
- 12:34I'm just like you said, we were four quarters removed from going
- 12:37to the Super Bowl and here we are.
- 12:44I think what's going to happen is, yeah, I, I think what's
- 12:48going to happen is this is going to play out similar to the Ron
- 12:52Revere era. For everybody that's talking
- 12:54about DQ being on the hot seat. I don't believe the he's on the
- 12:57hot seat is when Ron Revere had all those injuries and we all
- 13:00remember that we we survived the Ron Revere era.
- 13:04He went back to them and basically said, you guys can't
- 13:06fire me because of the injuries that we had.
- 13:09If I had a healthy squad, I would have been better.
- 13:14They kept them. This is going to be the same
- 13:16thing for DQ. He's going to go to them and
- 13:18say, you guys see it. What can I, my hands are tied.
- 13:22Give me a give me a, a healthy year.
- 13:26And then let's revisit this. Even if they're even looking at
- 13:28it, which I don't believe that they are.
- 13:30No, I don't think they are right.
- 13:31But to me personally, Adam Peters himself, I'm questioning
- 13:40a little bit, right? I still trust him in his moves,
- 13:43but he's got to have a good offseason, right?
- 13:47And we saw Johnny Newton have 3 sacks.
- 13:51You know, the other day against the Cowboys, we saw Ben Senate
- 13:53have a couple of catches, right? And we've seen Jalen Lane
- 13:57produce, right? When Luke was in there, he was
- 14:00doing well, but some of his free agent pickups have not panned
- 14:04out, right? So I need to see Peters do a
- 14:08little bit more from that standpoint.
- 14:11OK, when we were, when we were still in it to some degree in
- 14:15Dallas, what did Johnny Newton do?
- 14:18And I know you don't have those stats available, but I'm there's
- 14:22a reason why I'm asking. I'm posing this question.
- 14:25I like to know what Johnny Newton did when we were
- 14:30truthfully still had something to play for when we played
- 14:33Dallas. Well, he probably didn't get a
- 14:36ton of snaps most likely. That's my guess.
- 14:39The only reason he got snaps this past week was because Duron
- 14:41was hurt. And OK, you and I talked about
- 14:44it. Duron's probably not going to
- 14:46play against the Eagles, so that's another chance for Johnny
- 14:50to do it against an actual good offense.
- 14:53I mean his weekly PFF grade then was a 58.
- 14:57OK, where I'm where I'm going with that is this Dallas had
- 15:02nothing to play for. There was no true.
- 15:05Don't get me wrong, I always my biggest thing that I always try
- 15:11to get across to you and our listeners are that no matter
- 15:14what, those guys are human and they had nothing to play for.
- 15:20Johnny, on the other hand, he has something to play for
- 15:23because he could be out the door.
- 15:26Everybody saying that he hasn't lived up to what he was pegged
- 15:30to be. Well, Dallas is out of it.
- 15:35They they are, they were. So I think there was a little
- 15:40less effort and and yeah, the Cowboys and and they got a
- 15:45opponent offense. But bro, I, I just saw some
- 15:48things that made me just say, OK, Dallas didn't play to the to
- 15:52their potential. They really didn't.
- 15:54If we, if we want to look, if we want to say something, they
- 15:57didn't play to their potential because they were out of it.
- 16:01I think some guys didn't. I, I, I think Dak did.
- 16:04I think Turpin did. I don't think CD did.
- 16:07I don't think Pickens did. I think I saw those guys making
- 16:10business decisions. I saw those guys not jumping for
- 16:12balls. I saw those guys not reaching
- 16:14for balls because they didn't want to get hit.
- 16:16Some guys definitely did not play up to the potential.
- 16:19I mean Dak is playing in Week 18 right?
- 16:23The fact that DAC is starting the last game of the season when
- 16:26they literally have nothing to play for other than he doesn't
- 16:28want to have a losing record to end the year so that's why he's
- 16:31playing. But I do agree with you.
- 16:32But the big thing about Johnny is all anyone is focused on is
- 16:35his sax. He got pretty much the worst
- 16:40run, block, run defensive grade for a defensive lineman that
- 16:44game, right. And that to me is it's more than
- 16:46just being able to stack the quarterback, right.
- 16:48You've got to actually stop the run as well.
- 16:51And he didn't do that, right. So that's he is the reason why
- 16:56people passed on him on the draft 'cause he was supposed to
- 16:59go higher was he is a undersized defensive lineman and the reason
- 17:04why he hasn't gotten snaps over to Ron is Duron just a bigger
- 17:07boy. But the fact that Ken Law, who
- 17:10they brought in here is a free agent, has 0 sacks and has
- 17:14played a hell of a lot more snaps in Johnny and Johnny has
- 17:18three sacks. So you know that that to me goes
- 17:21back to the bringing in some of these free agents that have not
- 17:25panned out to a degree. And you know, Kim Law has been
- 17:29there, he's been healthy, has not missed games.
- 17:31So that's one reason why I'm saying not that I don't trust
- 17:35Peters, I just want to see more out of him because he is the one
- 17:39buying the ingredients and DQ is the one cooking the meal and
- 17:44some of these ingredients, some are on the discount shelf.
- 17:48And, and, and we're the ones who have to eat it and it doesn't
- 17:51taste good. So, you know, do you go to a
- 17:56different restaurant? You know what, what do you do?
- 17:59But I'm with you, you know, we, we were happy that he came on
- 18:04board because we saw what his resume brought to the table.
- 18:10And we are trying to hold on because we've so many years
- 18:16we've been so just mediocre to where we always said, now we see
- 18:21the adults are in the room. We've we've said that
- 18:24continuously. And last year with us having a
- 18:27winning record, we say, ah, we see what the adults in the room
- 18:30are finally able to do. But now we have a turn of the
- 18:34bad, if you will, and now we're questioning it.
- 18:39And so we really, we shouldn't do that, even though I
- 18:43understand why we're doing it, we shouldn't do it.
- 18:46We got it. We got to keep our nose down to
- 18:50the grind and and keep rolling and roll with them because if he
- 18:57hits and we don't have the injuries next year, then we'll
- 19:01be right back praising them again.
- 19:03So I say right now, as hard as it may be, curtail the the the,
- 19:13the thoughts on judging him for right now next year.
- 19:20Oh, we'll be like Philly fans and we'll be blowing the hell
- 19:23out of everybody, you know, because we, we basically are
- 19:27giving everybody a pass because of these injuries.
- 19:31Yeah. I mean, we have to.
- 19:32We bought. Himself some time.
- 19:34Right, yes, going to the. NFC Championship game You bought
- 19:37yourself some time right? So they're they're good, but if
- 19:41they have a repeat in 2026 injuries be damned like they've
- 19:47had in 2025, then all bets are off.
- 19:50Oh, it's. Going to be some furniture
- 19:51movement, no doubt about it. No doubt about it.
- 19:54I only bring that up because I see people on your rally captain
- 19:58page. I see people on Instagram, on
- 20:02Twitter talking about Drake, May, talking about Caleb.
- 20:06Right. And this was a debate a couple
- 20:09weeks ago because there was some different shows talking about
- 20:12doing a redraft and where Jaden would go in that redraft.
- 20:16And I already know what you're going to say, but Drake May
- 20:20right now is leading the MVP debate.
- 20:25So if. You want.
- 20:26Of course he is. Yeah, if you want to put money
- 20:28down on the kid. But The thing is, I don't think
- 20:30a lot of our listeners understand how easy this young
- 20:35man has had it and they've only played one team with a winning
- 20:39record. So it goes back to reminds me of
- 20:42our season last year where you can only play who's on your
- 20:46schedule, right? And the MVP comes out before the
- 20:50playoffs start. So that is solidified way before
- 20:54the playoffs. We all saw what Jayden did
- 20:55during the playoffs and he beat teams with a winning record.
- 20:59Take it out, Tampa, take it out Detroit, right?
- 21:02And to me, to want to redo the draft.
- 21:07And fans are saying that Peters is going to regret passing on
- 21:11Drake May seeing what he's doing now, right?
- 21:15I think that's just, that's hindsight, right?
- 21:18I, I don't regret it. To me, it is way too early to
- 21:22say which quarterback is better than the other quarterbacks.
- 21:26And they're all forever going to be compared to each other.
- 21:30You put Drake May on this same squad that we had this year and
- 21:34the results will be the same point blank period.
- 21:37Yeah. How many times when we were the
- 21:41the Skins did people say, oh, if we had a Peyton Manning?
- 21:45And I say bullish, if we had Peyton Manning, Peyton Manning
- 21:49would would be sacked as well because we had no offensive
- 21:51line. Do you remember those talks back
- 21:53in the day when people would always try to compare?
- 21:55Well, if we had Tom Brady and people like no, Tom wouldn't be
- 22:00able to stand up because the line was terrible.
- 22:02It was porous. So that talk is is is ish to me.
- 22:08It really is. So do we need a lot of work?
- 22:13Yes, we do. But that whole talk as far as
- 22:17Drake made man, no, I guarantee. How, how about this OK, flip
- 22:24flop. If Jaden was on the patriots,
- 22:27I'm sure he'd be doing the exact same thing or even more if he
- 22:31was on the patriots and and may probably would not be doing that
- 22:35what he was doing here if you if he was, if he was with us.
- 22:38So come on, guys, I understand what you're trying to do, but
- 22:44Sima, Sima down straight up. You know, I, I, I don't, I hate
- 22:48that type of talk. Oh, I'm right there with you,
- 22:50actually. I chimed in.
- 22:52And I I've been off of social media for, you know, maybe a
- 22:57week and some change, but it it drove me crazy.
- 23:00And I chimed in on your rally captain page when someone
- 23:02posted, right, Drake May blah, blah, blah stuff.
- 23:05It's like the Patriots have had the 30th toughest schedule,
- 23:10right? The third schedule.
- 23:12Yeah. So, I mean, let's see what they
- 23:17do next year like we had to do this year when they face a lot
- 23:22tougher schedule, right? Let's see what happens.
- 23:25And who would have thought that the year that the Patriots
- 23:29possibly are going to get the number one seed, Patrick Mahomes
- 23:33and the Chiefs are gone, right? There's so many things that have
- 23:36changed. And that's what the NF LS about.
- 23:38It's about being able to go from worst to 1st constantly.
- 23:42The Patriots have two Pro Bowl players on their roster, right?
- 23:46Drake May and Christian Gonzalez.
- 23:48It's not like they've got this stunt team.
- 23:50And I understand the Pro Bowl is a more of a fan vote than
- 23:54anything. But to me, it still shows you
- 23:57how many players on that team would potentially start on other
- 24:02teams, right? And I think it's a little bit of
- 24:05a barometer from that side of things.
- 24:07So before people start going and saying I wish we would have
- 24:11taken Drake over Jayden, I think that's just, it's foolish
- 24:15because you guys go back and watch the highlights from last
- 24:18year, go back and watch what that young man did.
- 24:21But I do think part of the problem is we just need more
- 24:24than him, right? We need more than 5 on the field
- 24:28or five and 17. We need a real and don't get me
- 24:31wrong, Bill had two nice touchdowns, but we need a more
- 24:36dominant running back that can do more than just run the
- 24:38football. I need someone that can actually
- 24:40catch and use his hands. I need someone that doesn't make
- 24:43the offense one-dimensional because when Bill's in there,
- 24:46he's not in there to pass block for the most part.
- 24:49He's not in there to catch the ball on a screen or anything
- 24:51else. He's in there to run the ball.
- 24:53And guess what? That lets the defense know, all
- 24:56right, we're coming, right? They probably audible to a run
- 25:00blitz or fill some gaps and this and that.
- 25:02And he burned him a couple times.
- 25:04But for the most part, I I just, he's a seventh round kid that's
- 25:10done a great job with the time he's had.
- 25:12But this offseason, I want a different running back.
- 25:16I want a better. You're ready to move on.
- 25:18It's not move on. You need to have a couple of
- 25:20running backs on your roster. Dynamic.
- 25:23Yeah, you need a dynamic running back.
- 25:24You need a power running back. And I wanted to see Chris
- 25:28Rodriguez do that against the Cowboys, and I feel so bad for
- 25:32that young man. He was named team captain.
- 25:35He was supposed to start that game.
- 25:37He got the flu, so imagine how sick he must have been.
- 25:41He had his whole family there for the game.
- 25:44Imagine how sick he must have been to miss his opportunity.
- 25:47And kudos to Bill because I'm sure he didn't get as many reps
- 25:50as C Rod did in practice and he took advantage of it.
- 25:53But I just, I need a more consistent bruiser that's going
- 25:59to be able to get those tough yards.
- 26:01And I just, I don't see that out of Bill.
- 26:03I need someone that can be that pass catching threat and it's
- 26:07nice that Mcnichols comes in and can do that, but I love a guy
- 26:11that can do both right. So.
- 26:13So Bill can't catch the ball. He's had less than a dozen
- 26:16catches this season. Not saying he can't, but he
- 26:20hasn't. I don't.
- 26:20I don't. I don't really remember seeing
- 26:22him them throwing the throwing the ball though.
- 26:24I mean, maybe I'm wrong and it's been a long season so a lot of
- 26:28things didn't go our way. So maybe I'm I just, I'm missing
- 26:31it, but I didn't think that they threw the ball to him that much.
- 26:35And that's to where he. They they don't, right?
- 26:38So there's got to be a reason why they're not throwing the
- 26:40ball. Austin Eckler caught the ball
- 26:44and ran the ball a ton. Brian Robinson, before we traded
- 26:47him, would catch the ball out the backfield.
- 26:49They always said he's got good hands and they don't use them
- 26:51like that. So maybe that's something to
- 26:54Bill. Bill needs to invest in a judge
- 26:55machine or someone can get him one and he can practice on
- 26:59catching the ball because it's obvious it's something that they
- 27:02don't use in his game for whatever reason and take
- 27:06advantage of probably because it's not a strength in his game.
- 27:11OK, yeah, because I can't say I've ever really seen him throw
- 27:14the ball to him, and I can't say I've seen him catch the ball,
- 27:18even though I know they probably have.
- 27:20I just, like I said, it's been a long season and right now it's
- 27:23in a blur. I want to, I just want to get up
- 27:28with this, this 4:00 PM kick in the Eagles.
- 27:30I really do, man. He's got but anyway.
- 27:34He's got 9 catches this season, right?
- 27:36The entire. How many attempts?
- 27:38How many attempts? I don't know how many times he
- 27:40was targeted. Let's.
- 27:41See. OK, see The thing is, that tells
- 27:43me that he can't catch the ball. 9 times.
- 27:46I can catch the ball 9 times if you throw it to me.
- 27:49Hey brother, how many? He was targeted 13 times, OK, 13
- 27:54throws to him. He caught nine of them, right?
- 27:56But that to me is he should be more of a receiving threat if he
- 28:00can actually catch. I just don't think that
- 28:02Kingsbury and the coaches have seen that in practice out of
- 28:05him. So they're just not calling the
- 28:06play. Who have they thrown the ball
- 28:09out of the backfield to the most?
- 28:11Who did? Mcnichols and the Pickles.
- 28:15In Debo, it's not really the backfield, but the line of
- 28:18scrimmage. Debo, but yeah.
- 28:22I bet they could probably not line that young man up and he'd
- 28:24throw them the ball and he'd catch it.
- 28:27I just, you know. If he's not doing it now, in
- 28:30week 17, it's not like they don't practice these things.
- 28:33So I just, I want to see him step up.
- 28:36Like for him to be a true #1 back, right?
- 28:39And I don't. Find out he's got Butterfingers
- 28:42in in practice. Well, I mean, he did fumble the
- 28:45ball a couple of times on his butterfingers and that.
- 28:47Yeah, but that's not going the ball out of the backfield,
- 28:49though. I mean, I I hear what you're
- 28:51saying. He yes, fumble, Ruski fumble,
- 28:53lie. He he did do that.
- 28:54He put the ball on the carpet. But to what you're saying to
- 28:59make him more versatile, try to get him the ball out of the
- 29:02backfield. We have to this how look at it.
- 29:05You got to open canvas in the last game to do whatever you
- 29:09want to do. We we can't go up and we can't
- 29:12go down. We, we are right there.
- 29:15So show me something, show me something.
- 29:19And that's what I want to see. And and that's something that
- 29:22because I really didn't realize that much like you said, Ted,
- 29:24that they didn't get him on the ball out of the backfield, But
- 29:28I'm sure he caught the ball in college he had.
- 29:31I knew you were going to say that.
- 29:32Guess how many times? How many times?
- 29:357. His whole college career.
- 29:39His whole college career. 7 catches for 72 yards, one was a.
- 29:43Touchdown I I need I need more to go on.
- 29:46I need more to go on. I'm just saying it's like I
- 29:51Jayden needs he needs to stop being Superman 24/7.
- 29:55If we can. Get some other guys to be, you
- 29:58know, let's get the Justice League around them, right?
- 30:00Let's get a no Aquaman there. Let's get Batman there, right?
- 30:04Terry's probably, you know, whoever the hell you want to
- 30:06pick out of that group, right? Let's, we need someone to be the
- 30:10Flash, right? I need someone to be that guy.
- 30:13So Jane's not pulling it all into him because the young man
- 30:16is a fighter and does not want to lose and has not learned that
- 30:20sometimes it's OK to give up on a play.
- 30:24Sometimes it's OK to throw the ball away and just not go balls
- 30:28to the wall every time. And honestly, it was a matter of
- 30:32time before Mariota got hurt because we saw him run so many
- 30:36times when plays got blown up. I'm thinking to myself, oh, OK,
- 30:40hopefully Marx doesn't go down, but we'll get to see Hartman.
- 30:44Hartman's not playing. And this is actually DQ talking
- 30:47about who's going to play this week.
- 30:48If it can't be Marcus, Marcus can't go on Sunday.
- 30:52How do you see the quarterback situation playing out?
- 30:55Yeah, we'd lean and start with Josh again, Scott, and then as
- 30:59far as behind him, we'll just still discuss that between Sam
- 31:03and with Jeff. But if Marcus couldn't, then
- 31:06we'd lean in with Josh again. And there was honestly a lot
- 31:08that I liked in the game. I know it was a short week, but
- 31:11the preparation of what and how we featured him I thought was
- 31:15the right space. And you know, like from a
- 31:17decision making process, I thought, you know, Josh did a
- 31:21lot of things correct that I liked.
- 31:22So we would lean in that way again for sure if if Marcus
- 31:25can't. I'm good with that.
- 31:30I want to see what Josh can do. He's actually older than Marcus.
- 31:32You said you know someone younger before, But I want to
- 31:36see what Josh can do against an Eagles team that is still
- 31:39playing for something. I want to see what Johnny Newton
- 31:42can do against an Eagles team that is still playing for
- 31:45something. Let me ask you this.
- 31:47Would you have? Would you rather have Jameis
- 31:48Winston or Josh Johnson? I think I'd rather have Jameis
- 31:53because we could serve crab legs at the tailgate, right?
- 31:56I mean, and you've been. So have you watched Hard Knocks
- 31:59yet? I had I is there a new one out?
- 32:04No, no, the new one comes out tonight.
- 32:05But have you? Are you all caught?
- 32:06Up. I'm caught up.
- 32:07I'm caught up, yes. So part of me, I've been
- 32:10watching it with Misses Tailgate, part of me doesn't
- 32:12want to do it anymore because you know how good they are.
- 32:15Like she's starting to like the Cowboys.
- 32:18Like when they were doing Turpin time Who?
- 32:21Started like the Cowboys. Certain players on the team,
- 32:24right? Cavante, Turpin, how they were
- 32:26hyping him up. Misses Tailgate.
- 32:27What? Yeah, right.
- 32:30And then the whole the, I can't remember whoever the Samoan guy
- 32:36is for the Eagles that was doing the Christmas stuff and singing
- 32:40and being nice with the kids, you know, like those feel good
- 32:43stories behind the scenes, like off of the football field.
- 32:47It's like, I don't think I want you watching this anymore.
- 32:49Because it's their job to make these people look good.
- 32:52And the team gets final say on what is allowed to be shown and
- 32:56what's not allowed to be shown. So they're not going to show
- 32:57someone being a complete ass. They're not going to show
- 33:00someone. You know, who was it Diggs just
- 33:03got charged with, I think, strangling his.
- 33:08Yeah. Like.
- 33:09I was basically strangling and assaulting his assistant or
- 33:12someone that works for him, right?
- 33:14Let's just say if they're on Hard Knocks, they're not going
- 33:16to let Hard Knock show that or put that on there or do that
- 33:18stuff. But it's it's been kind of nice
- 33:24to see some of the behind the scenes, but also a little bit
- 33:27frustrating because our behind the scenes, it ain't really
- 33:30there. And you saw Jameis, you know,
- 33:33he's to me, he's kind of a jokester, right?
- 33:35To me, I can see Jameis booking dinners for the team and being
- 33:38the vibes guy that Sam Hartman is.
- 33:41The only problem is Jameis is going to require a whole lot
- 33:43more money than Hartman does. And it was nice that Hartman
- 33:46went to the Ronald McDonald House and did stuff there for
- 33:48the kids and the families. I used to cook there a couple
- 33:50times a year. But the fact of the matter is he
- 33:53is still last on the deck chart and we're not going to see him.
- 33:58Like, why is he here? Like let me see Hartman and let
- 34:02me see Driscoll, because odds are, I hate to say it, we're not
- 34:07going to win this game, right? And you would you put it on
- 34:11Twitter and on X everything else on Instagram.
- 34:14Why is the game not 1:00? For those that don't know, the
- 34:17Eagles are playing for the two seed.
- 34:20The two seed means they could potentially host an NFC
- 34:23championship game. All right, so they're going to
- 34:26play as all the probably not all their starters, but as many as
- 34:30their stars as they possibly can.
- 34:31So they do have something to play for.
- 34:33They're fighting with the Bears for that number two seed and I
- 34:35don't know who the Bears opponent is.
- 34:37I got to pull that out but. Well, I posted that, but I, I
- 34:41knew that that's what they were playing for.
- 34:42I posted that because I wanted it to be a 1:00 game.
- 34:46It just helps it, it's, it's a selfish thing.
- 34:48It helps me get up there and get back down back home, you know,
- 34:53before it's too late. And now this just puts me back
- 34:55home. Roughly 11:00.
- 34:59Yeah, some people. Just don't know, right?
- 35:01They just see like the post or what's going on.
- 35:04Like you literally had lurks from the sports junkies not
- 35:06realizing that the Eagles are playing for the two seed all day
- 35:10yesterday. He was talking about like, oh
- 35:12what you know, why are they even going to start their starters
- 35:14like they're playing for the two seed.
- 35:16Like I want to text lurks and say This is why they're going to
- 35:18do it right. And the the bears are playing
- 35:21the lions. The lions, they got humiliated.
- 35:24They're they're done. So we'll see what happens there.
- 35:28I don't know who has the tiebreaker, but believe it or
- 35:31not, the worst we can pick this draft is seventh.
- 35:37Guess what the highest we can pick is?
- 35:403. It's actually 20.
- 35:45A lot has to happen, but the highest we can actually pick is
- 35:492. And this was per a tweet from
- 35:52Grant Paulson, right? Because it falls down to
- 35:55strength of schedule because our schedule was tougher than those
- 35:59other teams. Let's just say these other teams
- 36:01get some wins and we're all tied at four.
- 36:04Our strength of schedule is tougher.
- 36:06So it goes to that, right? And the Giants actually played
- 36:10themselves out of another one pick the other day.
- 36:14So technically, if the Giants win, even though we have beat
- 36:18the Giants twice, it goes to strength of schedule first.
- 36:23So our strength of schedule is worse or harder than theirs was.
- 36:28Harder. Yeah, so interesting and very
- 36:31interesting. So OK, let let's just play this
- 36:34thing out. We get the number two pick.
- 36:36What do you, who do you pick? Do you pick offense or defense?
- 36:40Assuming we're not trading out, all right, assuming that we're
- 36:43staying there, I go defense. I need a defensive lineman.
- 36:48That puts just the fear of God in coordinators.
- 36:52A dog you need you need a dog. We just, we don't have that.
- 36:56I mean who do you go with position wise?
- 37:00See, I, I, I think you got to have some hunters.
- 37:05So linebacker somebody you, but you got to have somebody that
- 37:11can hunt. I believe you can get receivers
- 37:14a dime a dozen, but you got to have somebody who, who can hunt
- 37:19that ball down. So like you said, who's a dog
- 37:22and the, the cat from Philadelphia who came from
- 37:25Georgia, who, who had the, the speeding issue or reckless
- 37:30driving or whatever have you. That guy's a dog.
- 37:32You need somebody like him. He's a game changer.
- 37:34I can't think of his name, but do you know who I'm talking
- 37:36about? He came from Georgia, pays for
- 37:39the Eagles defensive tackle. That guy's a he, he's he's a
- 37:44he's a, he's a beast. But while you pulling that up, I
- 37:47got to ask you a question. What was Netflix doing, walking
- 37:52around and all the tailgates and everything and interviewing
- 37:55everyone? Have you seen that footage yet?
- 37:57Yeah, they were. So Netflix owned the rights for
- 38:01the Christmas games other than the last game that night.
- 38:04So Netflix was the broadcaster for our game and the broadcaster
- 38:09for the Lions game, right. So they did a pregame show with
- 38:16their guy in the lot. And that Burt guy, who I have no
- 38:19idea who he is. I'm sure he's a funny dude.
- 38:22He I think he's got a, a show coming up on Netflix like some
- 38:24comedy show. And Anthony Anderson were going
- 38:28through the tailgate lots, just like how Jason Kelsey and those
- 38:32guys go through the lots for their coverage.
- 38:34And I know you're at all the games, so you don't really get a
- 38:36chance to see it for the most part.
- 38:39But they were just going through and hanging out and doing that.
- 38:41And the red zone lot is the busiest lot around the stadium
- 38:46because it's got the bigger spaces and everything else.
- 38:48And they promote it as the tailgate lot, which is another
- 38:51reason why opposing teams always bypasses in that lot, which kind
- 38:55of sucks. But yeah, they never came by
- 38:58ours just because ours would have been a little a little
- 39:01depressing to come and put on Netflix.
- 39:04Yeah, I, I was there basically and, and the cameras I guess
- 39:11shot me, if you will, but I didn't see anything.
- 39:15I didn't hear anybody. No one said anything.
- 39:16Normally when, when you know, there's a camera involved and if
- 39:20someone sees you on TV, they tag you in something.
- 39:22So I was just wondering how they, how they aired it.
- 39:25But obviously they did because it was for the IT was pregame
- 39:30kickoff. Yeah, pregame kickoff.
- 39:32It was live, so I I think a lot of people might have been
- 39:36watching the local coverage since, you know, you don't have
- 39:39to have Netflix to catch up you. Don't want to pay for it, right?
- 39:43Yeah, so I mean, I have Netflix, right?
- 39:46So I'm I'm sure people have it, but to have to flip back and
- 39:49forth, like I hate watching the Thursday night game.
- 39:52I always forget it's on Prime because then if I want to flip
- 39:55to another channel, I got to switch out of Prime to just go
- 39:58back to that. And it's just it's I sound like
- 40:00an old man, but it's a pain in the ass, right?
- 40:03I just, I go to Channel 5 like Fox, I go to CBS, right it.
- 40:07Was nice. Yeah, like did you watch any
- 40:10football on Sunday since we didn't even play?
- 40:13Did I watch football on Sunday? Yeah, I did watch some football
- 40:18on Sunday. I watched a little bit, but I
- 40:22but I had to be up to work on Monday, so I didn't watch as
- 40:27much as I would have liked to have.
- 40:29Yeah. I, I caught the Eagles in the
- 40:32Bills game because I really want the Bills to win.
- 40:34I'm a huge Josh Allen fan or anyone that's playing Eagles fan
- 40:38at this point. So but it was it was nice
- 40:41sitting there just getting kind of a chance to enjoy it.
- 40:43I'm glad I didn't have to go back and forth to an app to have
- 40:46to pull it up. But yeah, that was I saw some
- 40:49footage. You know, I'm glad the guys from
- 40:50the command corner got featured on that.
- 40:53Like chopping guys over there do a good job.
- 40:56So it was fun. But going back to your question,
- 40:59I mean, the Cowboys ran 87 plays on offense.
- 41:03They actually called 90 plus plays, but a couple of them
- 41:05didn't run because of, you know, dead ball fouls before the ball
- 41:09got snapped. But 87 plays on offense they
- 41:13ran. You get a stud defensive
- 41:15lineman, then hopefully they get a chance to shut that down.
- 41:20And I know fans are going to say we had, you know, Chase Young
- 41:24here, we had, you know, John Allen here, we had, you know,
- 41:28Montez Sweat here. I just I get it.
- 41:32Those guys didn't pan out, but you can't sit there and harp on
- 41:36that. We are obviously missing the
- 41:39right pieces of this puzzle right now.
- 41:41And I think it was a funny Danny was talking about how the 49ers
- 41:47were upset because they lost Joey.
- 41:49They lost Nick Bosa for a little bit, right?
- 41:51And he hasn't been around. We're complaining because we
- 41:53lost Dietrich Wise, right? Dietrich Wise would not be a
- 41:57starter on any of these playoff teams that are in the hunt right
- 42:01now. But yet we're upset because he
- 42:02missed a bunch of games for us, right?
- 42:04That is the lack of talent that we have on our team.
- 42:09Yeah, and and it sucks, but you can only do what you got.
- 42:16Work with what you got. And so here we are.
- 42:20And once again, we it goes back to what you said.
- 42:23How will Adam handle this? And I know that they're behind
- 42:29closed doors crunching. I know they are and and they're
- 42:33scouting team and and and everybody who's involved with
- 42:36recruiting is concerned. I and player development.
- 42:40I know that they're saying we got to do better, you know,
- 42:44before they go to Cancun next week, you know, I know they are.
- 42:49So once again, I don't get paid. You don't get paid to to do it.
- 42:55So we got to just sit back and let them figure it out.
- 42:59But man, like you said, a a, a true dog.
- 43:04So a defensive end or defensive tackle.
- 43:06I want an end I. I want a defensive end that can
- 43:11make a difference and get in there from a linebacker
- 43:14perspective, right? I got my boy Rafiq texted me
- 43:18randomly. 0 context and just sent me some name.
- 43:24I'm thinking what's what what the hell is this about?
- 43:26And I guess the the dude's a stud linebacker from Ohio State
- 43:31Arvel Reese. Like I don't I don't watch
- 43:33college football so I'm thinking who the hell is Arvel Reese?
- 43:36That's all he said he sent this to me yesterday at 9:48 in the
- 43:39morning and I didn't reply to him till today because I didn't
- 43:42see it. He said he's a first round
- 43:44option for Ohio State. Like I don't even care about
- 43:48that right now. I just know player wise what I
- 43:51want. Now if we have the second pick
- 43:53in the draft, my ass wants to trade back into the first round,
- 43:58like farther back and then get more picks because if we get to
- 44:00pick that high, best be sure if someone's going to want to come
- 44:03up. If we're the 7th pick, I don't
- 44:06know if we get as many chances to trade that thing back or even
- 44:09get a good shot at getting something else.
- 44:11But rehashing the injury thing, Nick Bosa missed 14 games this
- 44:18year, right? Brock Purdy missed eight games.
- 44:21George Kittle missed six games. Fred Warner missed 11 games,
- 44:26right? These are all studs on offense
- 44:30for their team. These are all Pro Bowl players,
- 44:34all pros. And guess what?
- 44:37The 49ers record is, right? I mean, definitely ain't 4:00
- 44:42and 12:00 right? They're 12 and 4.
- 44:45Well, but here's the thing also, the 49ers have had an
- 44:50institution of great picks from, from way back in the day to
- 44:57where they they, they just did they they didn't just have a
- 45:01blank canvas, if you will. They have always had great
- 45:05picks. And so we're just in our second
- 45:07season. So with that being said, you
- 45:11know, how much time are our fans going to give us?
- 45:15Because realistically, San Francisco has had time to
- 45:20manipulate that, that, that, that that schedule.
- 45:23They've had their player personnel, they've had time.
- 45:27So I don't know if people don't want to hear, well, it shouldn't
- 45:30take us five years, but to what you're trying to do, it's going
- 45:34to take two years, three years to be able to invest in those
- 45:39players, to have those great backup moments.
- 45:42So it's not like it's going to happen overnight.
- 45:46So it may not seem like it's going to hit now, but you're
- 45:51you're you're looking for the future.
- 45:54So maybe there's a shining star that's on the on the roster
- 45:58right now who they're grooming, I don't know.
- 46:02But I, I just believe that it's not going to happen in year 2
- 46:07and we're in year 2. We're going into year 3.
- 46:10And yes, they've got a, they've got a lot to clean up, a lot to
- 46:16clean up. And we know that.
- 46:18But we got to give it time. And I know we don't want to hear
- 46:21that. I actually hate, it's a love
- 46:23hate thing. And you'll appreciate what I'm
- 46:25about to say. I hate that we went to the
- 46:27championship last year. I was just thinking that, man, I
- 46:30hate to, yeah. Yeah, I, I hate that we went to
- 46:34the championship last year because it gave everybody these
- 46:36these these expectations and it was luck.
- 46:42It, it, we got to call it what it was it, it we, I mean, we
- 46:46were, we had basically if we were playing blackjack and you
- 46:52had 18, you know, and you said hit me again and everybody's
- 46:59saying no, no, but all of a sudden he, they roll that three
- 47:03out and you, you got 21 and you did it again.
- 47:06Can you, Can you imagine that? Let's just put that into
- 47:09context. You're playing blackjack, right?
- 47:12Look how many times we won that. That means that means those,
- 47:18those improbable odds we hit on and everybody at the table
- 47:22saying no, don't, don't take another hit.
- 47:24And you're like hit me and all of a sudden, bam, blackjack.
- 47:29You know, so that's what it was like.
- 47:32And so we went back to the blackjack table and we bust all
- 47:39these games and you're like, wait a minute, When I played
- 47:42last time, I, I, I won. So here we are now we got a, if
- 47:49we want to put it in context of or, or the card aspect of
- 47:53things, we need to reshuffle. Give me a new deck I need, I
- 47:58need a new deck. So we're going to we're getting
- 48:01a brand new deck and we're going to see how these cards unfold.
- 48:06And I, I, I've been thinking about that, right?
- 48:10Last year was so much fun and I am glad that we have not.
- 48:19I'm glad that it happened because there were so many
- 48:22younger ones in this fan base that have never seen us win
- 48:26before, right? And being in Spain for the game,
- 48:31right? I asked those guys out there and
- 48:33girls out there that I met, like one of our fans from Dublin that
- 48:36listens to the show and another one from Scott.
- 48:38And like, out of all of the NFL teams, why did you decide to
- 48:43root for us? Like, you can easily switch to
- 48:46be a Chiefs fan or be a Niners fan or be like another team that
- 48:52has not been a perennial just underdog loser, right?
- 48:56I'll judge you if you're going to be an Eagles fan, but you
- 48:58could easily choose one of those other teams that you can
- 48:59actually watch in the playoffs and play in the Super Bowl.
- 49:03But yet you chose to be a fan of the Burgundy and Gold.
- 49:06And for those fans, I am happy for them that last year
- 49:10happened. You and I are going to be here
- 49:12whether we are, you know, one in 17 or 17 and one doesn't matter,
- 49:17right? We'll ride or die.
- 49:18But there are some that needed last year to happen, especially
- 49:22with the ownership change, especially with the name change.
- 49:25And if that did not happen, I don't know if there are as many
- 49:28people that are on this bandwagon still this day with
- 49:32us, even though the season has been so bad, right?
- 49:36I don't know if there's many people excited about RFK 2 point
- 49:39O if last season never happened. So I never want to take that
- 49:44away or act like it wasn't a thing.
- 49:48There are some out there They're wondering, was last season the
- 49:52outlier for five or can he actually repeat that and do that
- 49:57again? And to me, time will tell.
- 50:00What I think a lot of people aren't talking about, because
- 50:03it's not a fun conversation to have, is we are still paying for
- 50:07the sins of Ron Rivera, the GM, right?
- 50:11The fact that none of our first round picks who are supposed to
- 50:15be starters on your team or even on this roster, right?
- 50:19That's a huge problem. It's a huge hole that Adam
- 50:23Peters has to fill in. And let's just say Jaden can
- 50:27mask losing two of those first round picks.
- 50:32But losing all four of those first round picks to not be on
- 50:35your roster, that's a lot for one player to have to hide.
- 50:38This isn't basketball where one guy can take over the entire
- 50:42thing. All right, I'd say the NFL is
- 50:45the Ultimate Team sport. Hockey.
- 50:47A goalie can immediately dominate a hockey game or a
- 50:51hockey series and win that thing himself, right?
- 50:53Basketball, we've all seen what one player can do there.
- 50:57Baseball, we can see what a a pitcher can do to just shut down
- 51:00an entire team. Look at what freaking Shohei did
- 51:02right. Football is the Ultimate Team
- 51:04sport. There is nothing like it and
- 51:06you've got to have a couple of studs and unfortunately we
- 51:10missed one of our studs for majority of the season with
- 51:12Jaden and also with Terry and on defense, give me a stunt on
- 51:17defense that would start for a different team that would start
- 51:21for let's just say the Eagles. I I can't think of 1 the.
- 51:25Stud. The stud is the cat who I was
- 51:27telling you about, who came from Georgia.
- 51:28No, no, no, from our team who from our team on defense would
- 51:32play on the Eagles defense would start on the Eagles defense not.
- 51:37I don't expect you to know their roster front and back, but to
- 51:40me, the. Fact that maybe pain.
- 51:45Yeah, I don't even think he would, man.
- 51:46I don't think Duron would start over who they have on their
- 51:50team, right? And I, I that to me is the
- 51:53problem, right? Our defense does not have an
- 51:55identity. Everyone knows Bobby Wagner
- 51:57because he's Father time and he is so close to, you know, being
- 52:02there and breaking a Lunnen Fletcher's record for most
- 52:05tackles, which is great, but it doesn't move us in the right
- 52:09direction. Freaking Quan Martin got benched
- 52:14basically because of the Turbine play he got. 2nd.
- 52:18Yeah, right. And Sandra still took a little
- 52:21bit of a step back because he's playing a completely different
- 52:23position than he played last year.
- 52:25But on defense, we don't have an identity.
- 52:28And that's what something we need to really focus on this
- 52:31offseason, whether it's in the draft, whether it's in free
- 52:34agency. And that to me is also why if
- 52:37Johnson or Driscoll can do something against the Philly
- 52:41team that has something to play for this week, then save the $10
- 52:44million. Thank you Marcus Mariota, I
- 52:48appreciate the time you put in, but you only having one win for
- 52:51me this season, that ain't going to cut it.
- 52:57And we know that the NFL is a cutthroat organization.
- 53:01We do know that. And as I said earlier, I don't
- 53:05think that there is going to be someone knocking on the door to
- 53:08make him a starter. I, I, I don't see it.
- 53:11So if you're trying to basically what you said, we'll see what
- 53:16happens during this game, who plays the best and then we may
- 53:21have seen, well, this will be a lot of people's last game with
- 53:25us with the Burgundy and gold. I mean that that's just that's
- 53:28just how it it's going to be. Time will tell bro.
- 53:33Yeah, it's it's going to be they're guys playing for
- 53:37contracts or Sam Cosby was on with Congrats to Sam and his
- 53:41wife for having their baby boy. He was born on the 26th.
- 53:46So I think she won the labour on the 25th and then came out the
- 53:4826th. So, you know, I'm happy for
- 53:51them. But there are a lot of guys who
- 53:53say that they're playing for contracts, right.
- 53:55They're playing to put up tape for the next coaching staff that
- 53:59comes in like the next defensive coordinator who is not married
- 54:03to this system and showing what he can do truly given a chance,
- 54:08right? And I'm looking at a list of 30
- 54:11NFL quarterbacks. I mean, Cam Ward in Tennessee.
- 54:15You can't tell him Mariota would wouldn't do a better job than
- 54:18him, right? Looking here, the freaking who
- 54:22the hell is the Raiders quarterback, right?
- 54:24It's just I I do think Marcus would have a potential chance
- 54:29someplace else if he wants to Jacoby percent in Arizona.
- 54:33I mean, they still got Kyler. So it is what it is.
- 54:36But I don't know. I just to me, I'm not breaking
- 54:40the bank to sign him as your number 2.
- 54:45And I this week what I'm watching for is that clock to
- 54:48strike 000 because that means this nightmare of a seat has
- 54:51ended. But right, I, I want to see
- 54:55another Burke sighting, right? And please, God, like don't make
- 55:01it so it's Burke's throwing a pass because did you see
- 55:04Kingsbury call another Wildcat play with Burke's back there and
- 55:08he was going to throw the damn ball.
- 55:09It's just like, I'm so done with some of these stupid play calls.
- 55:14It just, it drives me insane and I'm hoping DQ starts holding
- 55:20this guy accountable for some of the just idiotic things he's
- 55:23doing. So question.
- 55:26We know that Wit was relieved of his duties.
- 55:30Is he still on the roster? Or is he still on the score?
- 55:32He's. Still there he.
- 55:34Was he was relieved he'll be play calling.
- 55:36Do you think he'll be there after the season?
- 55:39No, I can't see what happening. They're not going to.
- 55:42Coaching contracts are guaranteed, so he's going to get
- 55:45paid, right. I don't think they're going to
- 55:48demote him at that point or he would take the demotion.
- 55:52But there have been rumors and Mark Bullock put this out there
- 55:57that Dan Quinn tried to hire and I want to say it was Al Harris
- 56:04from the Cowboys at one point and tried to bring him over, but
- 56:08the Cowboys blocked it and wouldn't let him come over.
- 56:12So he has a chance to. Now NFL teams, if it's a lateral
- 56:18move, can block you. Requesting that interview.
- 56:22If it is a move that's vertical, meaning they're going to get a
- 56:26promotion, it cannot be blocked. Right, they can't block you.
- 56:30So chance he comes here, don't know what the role's going to be
- 56:35or what's going on, but I cannot see DQ wanting to call defensive
- 56:39plays again and doing that because it's just it's a lot on
- 56:43his plate and I cannot see Wit being there.
- 56:47And I feel that there's some in the fan base that want to hold
- 56:52on to coordinators too long. I like, I remember when people
- 56:56didn't want North Turner to go for the longest time.
- 57:00And you know, it was it Scott, his son when he was here, right.
- 57:06And I, I am OK if they do decide to move away from Kingsbury
- 57:11because Kingsbury gets a job someplace else.
- 57:14Because yes, it is the same person that called the place
- 57:17last year. But one of my buddies, Burrows
- 57:20Brian, likes to bring up year three in a Kingsbury offense.
- 57:26Not even year three-year 2 defenses somewhat figure out
- 57:29what he's trying to do. And is this just a case of lack
- 57:34of talent because he hasn't had the weapons out there?
- 57:37But really the only person the offense missed was Terry.
- 57:42And OK, yes, Jayden to a degree, but when Jayden was out there,
- 57:46still didn't like the world on fire.
- 57:51I was wondering if if Cliff would be here, you know, do you
- 57:57bring in someone different, different concepts, different
- 57:59ideas, you know, different work ethic.
- 58:05We basically did have a blank canvas.
- 58:11I mean, we've, I mean, you, you've got some art that's
- 58:13there, but we've got a blank canvas almost to, to do whatever
- 58:18we want to do. And, and, and it's going to be
- 58:20interesting to see the first coach to get fired or replaced,
- 58:26shall I say, because we know it's going to happen.
- 58:29And the fans just be prepared that the people who you, who you
- 58:36may like may not be there and, and people that you don't like
- 58:43may that may be there. So just be prepared.
- 58:47And that's a thing that I feel like fantasy football somewhat
- 58:51changed the way people fan, right?
- 58:54We're not here to police the way people fan or this and that.
- 58:56But I'm just saying, sometimes people care more about the name
- 59:00on the back of the jersey than the one on the front, right?
- 59:04And to me, I stopped buying players jerseys because I got
- 59:09tired of wasting money, right? I think it was a segment on B
- 59:13Mitch and Finley, like the most random piece of memorabilia you
- 59:17have that nobody would want, right?
- 59:20I have a autographed Case Keenum jersey when he was on the
- 59:24Redskins, right? And the team gave that to me one
- 59:28day. And I'm sitting here thinking
- 59:30like, oh, yeah, thank you. Look what the I haven't gotten
- 59:33rid of it just because it's signed.
- 59:34Am I ever going to frame it or put it anywhere?
- 59:37No, I I don't know what I'm still doing with the damn thing.
- 59:41Right. And it's not even a nice one.
- 59:42It's a screen print case Kingdom Jersey.
- 59:45So yeah, it's like I should just donate it and get like a
- 59:49Mcchicken or something from McDonald.
- 59:51I don't know. But I don't know.
- 59:55I don't know where I'm going with this, but I think you're
- 59:58right. There are going to be people
- 59:59here that you're just. You kind of wondering, but to
- 1:00:02me, the burgundy and gold is who I root for, right?
- 1:00:07The players on the back, the names change on the back.
- 1:00:11It's still always going to be Washington on the front for me
- 1:00:13or commanders or, you know, whatever for other people.
- 1:00:18Yeah, I agree with you on that. And I always say players come
- 1:00:21and go, coaches come and go and yes, even owners come and go,
- 1:00:25but the fans for the most part stay the same.
- 1:00:27So it's, it's going to be very interesting.
- 1:00:29And regardless of all that, we got one more game to play.
- 1:00:32We got one more game to play, brother against those that,
- 1:00:35that, that gangrene. We've got one more game to play.
- 1:00:39And I, I hope that they once again, they pull out all the
- 1:00:42stops to beat these guys 'cause if we, if we win, do we, do we
- 1:00:47go up in the ratings or no matter what are.
- 1:00:50We going to sell it no matter what.
- 1:00:52No matter what, so go. Ahead, we have to sell it no
- 1:00:54matter what. Ball out, show me something,
- 1:00:57show me something. Go out going hard.
- 1:01:01Don't go out making business decisions because we know that's
- 1:01:04how you get hurt. So go out here and just light it
- 1:01:09up to the best of your ability. Yeah, I mean, if we could, the
- 1:01:15Eagles need to win and the Bears need to lose for them to get the
- 1:01:19two seed. The Bears are playing the Lions,
- 1:01:22so odds are right they're not going to lose that game.
- 1:01:27It's at Soldier Field. I just have a feeling the Bears
- 1:01:30are going to win. So if we could go, and luckily
- 1:01:34the game is being played at the exact same time, I'm sure
- 1:01:35they're going to be scoreboard watching and the coach will be
- 1:01:37scoreboard watching. If it's a blowout, they're not
- 1:01:40going to risk having the guys out there.
- 1:01:41And let's just say it's a close game.
- 1:01:42If we could beat a true Eagles team that is playing for
- 1:01:46something, we could carry that momentum in the next season,
- 1:01:49right? And I will say that the way last
- 1:01:52season ended 55 to 23 against them, that negative momentum
- 1:01:58affected us this year. We had a bunch of questions.
- 1:02:02So to get some positive momentum going into the new year to me
- 1:02:06would be a great thing. The players are going to be
- 1:02:09different next season on this roster.
- 1:02:11There's going to be a lot of turnover, a lot of change.
- 1:02:12A lot of guys are one year deals.
- 1:02:13A lot of guys are just not going to pay.
- 1:02:15I don't think we see Depot back this year, next year, right?
- 1:02:18I think it's tying up almost $60 million at the wide receiver
- 1:02:23position is a lot of money to give up because that's what
- 1:02:25Debo's going to demand between him and Terry, right?
- 1:02:28So, but to carry some kind of positive momentum into next
- 1:02:33year, I think to me would be a good thing.
- 1:02:37Yeah, I I see them going younger than Debo, and he didn't want to
- 1:02:44take a picture with me anyway in California.
- 1:02:46So, you know, Good. Good riddance, Devo.
- 1:02:49Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he did once.
- 1:02:51Once you gave the guilt trip, she laid down on him.
- 1:02:54But no, I obviously I want players to stay.
- 1:02:59But when it comes down to dollars and cents, we talk about
- 1:03:02business decisions. We've got a a lot of pieces that
- 1:03:07need to be solidified. And if you're costing me too
- 1:03:11much money, I'm afraid I've got to let you go.
- 1:03:14I, I can't, I can't do it because the juice really wasn't
- 1:03:18worth the squeeze. He, he really didn't, he played
- 1:03:21well, but he just didn't light it up like everybody thought
- 1:03:24that he was gonna light up. And everybody was saying, you
- 1:03:26know, oh, you guys got the fat Deebo or you guys got this Deebo
- 1:03:29or you got that Deebo. And and so, but we were like,
- 1:03:32Nah, he looks good, which for the most part he did look good,
- 1:03:36but he didn't, he wasn't that spark.
- 1:03:38He didn't light it up like we thought he would.
- 1:03:41Yeah, he wasn't that game changer, right?
- 1:03:44And maybe because he didn't have a true number one beside him,
- 1:03:47right? To me, I am not paying a #2
- 1:03:49receiver 30 plus $1,000,000. And to me Debo was a #2 he is
- 1:03:54not a number one. And that I just, I can't invest.
- 1:03:57It's not my money. We say that all the time.
- 1:03:59But to me, there are other things.
- 1:04:01We need to give that money to a stud defensive player, right?
- 1:04:06A nice linebacker. Because if Jordan McGee is not
- 1:04:09the heir apparent and he still needs more time to inherit that
- 1:04:11throne from Bobby, then give me someone else pick up another
- 1:04:15linebacker that can fill in those spots.
- 1:04:17But we have way too long and offseason to talk about that.
- 1:04:20There are some wondering, is there a rally this weekend?
- 1:04:26There will not be a rally this weekend and that's all I want to
- 1:04:31say about that. I hear you and I, I get it,
- 1:04:36right? Knowing that the game was a 425,
- 1:04:39knowing that it's up there, it actually just gives people more
- 1:04:42time to get up there later on in the day versus getting up there
- 1:04:45earlier. So I do know there's people that
- 1:04:47are probably happy about that. But for those of you going up
- 1:04:50there, I'm not saying do what I do and pretend you don't speak
- 1:04:55English. All I'm saying is be safe, have
- 1:04:59a good time and I can't wait to catch you guys down the road.
- 1:05:04I will see you guys there who's ever going, I will see you
- 1:05:08there. And hey, Bernie and gold till
- 1:05:12they were dead and cold. Forget that gangrene.
- 1:05:16So let's get it. And I hear old anxiety being
- 1:05:20played. You guys have a great, great,
- 1:05:24great New Year's and thank you once again to everyone that
- 1:05:27voted for me for fan of the year.
- 1:05:29I keep telling you that we are still in the running for the
- 1:05:32ultimate Fan of the year. The DMV has never won that
- 1:05:36award. So it'll be great to bring the
- 1:05:38ultimate fan back to the DMV. So please continue to keep
- 1:05:43voting for me. I, I greatly appreciate it and
- 1:05:46let's win this thing for the DMV and let's win Sunday so we can
- 1:05:52carry that into 2026. Remember, you RIP it hard.
- 1:05:58You don't RIP it at all. Tailgate Ted rally captain.
- 1:06:03We'll see you on the other side of 26.
