• 0:02
  Luke: Multiple nerdgasm.
• 0:09
  Matt: It's episode 666.
• 0:13
Luke: Oh, I was about to join in the laughter, but I didn't know.
• 0:16
Matt: Oh, okay, I'll do it again.
• 0:21
  Luke: That's creepy, man.
• 0:24
Matt: Stop, stop it. That's creepy. I don't like that.
• 0:26
  Luke: Creepy.
• 0:27
Matt: That's a creepy shirt you're wearing, actually. I've just noticed. What the fuck is that?
• 0:31
Luke: Is that— I love this shirt. I've got 2 shirts like this with slightly different signs. One—
• 0:35
  Matt: that's good.
• 0:36
Luke: Just, yeah, lots of color.
• 0:38
Matt: Yeah, fucking hell. What, what is it? Is it just a shirt?
• 0:42
Luke: Just a shirt with like— I think they might be sea animals, maybe.
• 0:47
Matt: Yeah, I see a fish.
• 0:48
  Luke: Sea cucumber.
• 0:50
Matt: Oh yeah, I see a crab.
• 0:51
  Luke: Yeah, yeah.
• 0:52
  Matt: All right, cool.
• 0:53
Luke: I don't know, it was bright colored, my eyes went to it. Yeah. And I went, should I buy these? And they went, please. Yeah, we're a shop, people are buying it.
• 1:00
Matt: That's what we're for. Yeah. Was it like a local thing?
• 1:04
Luke: No, I got it in, um, Vietnam.
• 1:06
  Matt: Oh, sick.
• 1:08
  Luke: All right, even better.
• 1:11
Matt: So I need to go back by children.
• 1:13
Luke: I don't think they're made by children, these ones.
• 1:16
  Matt: Okay.
• 1:17
Luke: No, because the town I buy in, adults, it's still not the ideal spot to buy it. So what happens is, you go— I didn't get this made, but it is in the town where you get clothes made, right? And you rock up, they measure you, you say what you want, and then your clothes, they make it overnight, right?
• 1:32
  Matt: Right.
• 1:33
Luke: And it's sort of like they make it overnight, you go in the next day, you get— they do it, they make you try it on, see if it fits, see if there's any adjustments, and then they make adjustments again over the next night. So they basically work 24 hours making these.
• 1:46
  Matt: Jesus Christ.
• 1:46
  Luke: Suits and belts.
• 1:49
Matt: And, and they're cheap, right, from what I hear?
• 1:51
  Luke: Uh, no, actually not.
• 1:53
Matt: Not as cheap as like Singapore or Thailand or wherever. Where's everybody else go to get suits? Singapore?
• 1:58
Luke: Yeah, I think they do. But I don't— yeah, these aren't as cheap as that, I don't think.
• 2:02
Matt: But no, computer stuff is Singapore. Is it Thailand where everybody gets—
• 2:05
Luke: I think it's Thailand as well, where it's like 3 suits for $100.
• 2:09
Matt: Yeah, stuff stupid like that. Everyone else, which is the same, but I'll just work over there. Yeah, right.
• 2:16
Luke: But here it's a bit more of a— I can walk in and go, I want this. Yeah, not just pick from the suit. I can walk and go, I want you to make this style.
• 2:25
Matt: Not just the suits. She's one of my daughters.
• 2:31
Luke: So what have you been up to this week?
• 2:34
Matt: Um, well, uh, what have I been up to? I went to a fake Warped Tour yesterday. That was fun.
• 2:39
Luke: Oh, that would have been fun. I saw you posting about that and I sort of just, just to listen to fun music again.
• 2:45
Matt: Just a bunch of COVID bands of bands that would have been on the Warped Tour. It was good. Yeah, I mean, honestly, they don't sound that different. No, the real bands, like, yeah, to be honest, it's like kind of the same. So it was fun.
• 3:00
Luke: Yeah, so why not just go and enjoy yourself? A little bit of Green Day and blink, right? Green Day would have been fun.
• 3:09
Matt: Yeah, to be clear, it wasn't actually Green Day, uh, don't be confused. Uh, and I don't think he— I think the only thing is that the singer didn't really sound like— yeah, other than that, sounded identical.
• 3:22
Luke: The singer is going to always be slightly off, but people, if they can play guitar and drums, well, yeah, it's the same. Yeah, yeah.
• 3:32
Matt: Yeah, arguably they played the songs better than Green Day do live. I've seen Green Day a couple times and I think these guys put in more effort than Green Day do.
• 3:41
Luke: Well, they can just phone it in now, can't they?
• 3:43
Matt: That's what I mean. Yeah, I like— a lot of bands do that. Yeah, go see them, they're drunk and they're not, you know, focused.
• 3:49
Luke: And they're at a stage where it's just every few years, oh, I need a bit of money, let's go do a tour.
• 3:54
Matt: Exactly. Whereas these guys are hungry, they need the money. So yes, they put on a good show. But yeah, no, it's good. Was it a brewery? Which helps because beer.
• 4:03
Luke: But, uh, well, I, I do find that seeing bands is always better with alcohol.
• 4:09
  Matt: Yes.
• 4:10
  Luke: Yep.
• 4:10
Matt: And not too much alcohol though because my daughter came with us. It's her first concert actually, we, we figured out.
• 4:17
Luke: And you can't have too much alcohol with her because she's just a lightweight.
• 4:20
  Matt: Exactly. Yeah, chaotic.
• 4:22
Luke: She doesn't buy anyway, she doesn't buy her rounds.
• 4:25
Matt: She acts like she's drunk Anyway, like, you'd never, never know.
• 4:30
Luke: Um, I'm just gonna do something. Oh, I'm just gonna turn my Xbox off.
• 4:35
  Matt: You bastard.
• 4:36
Luke: It made a noise and I forgot it was on, so I just turned it off.
• 4:39
Matt: It made a noise? Then I was just like, Luke, Luke, play me, play me.
• 4:44
Luke: I've just finished installing a game that I'm going to play after this so I get an achievement.
• 4:48
  Matt: What game is it?
• 4:50
  Luke: NASCAR Ignition 21.
• 4:52
Matt: You're driving it? You're driving a circle?
• 4:54
Luke: Gonna drive in a circle for a bit. No, these games, they do a bit more than drive in a circle. For some reason they actually have other tracks, but I don't like those ones. I just— let me drive in a circle. Hmm, cool, because then I can watch TV.
• 5:09
Matt: All right, do you think that's what they do during the race? They have a little TV?
• 5:13
Luke: I reckon they do. Just gotta hold the wheel just like that, steady.
• 5:16
Matt: They watch Days of Thunder while they're driving. Yeah. Um, I haven't been doing much else than that, actually playing Graveyard Keeper a bit, which is ridiculous because— not, not the new one, not a new one, the old one.
• 5:29
Luke: Yeah, yeah, not the new one, which is probably gonna take a lot of the stuff that was a bit of an issue with the first one and made it better.
• 5:37
Matt: I have hit a point in the first one where it's basically like, um, once you make wine, you— because there's no penalty for drinking wine in the first one. I know in the second one you get a hangover if you drink too much wine. In the first one, wine refills your energy bar quite a lot and there's no consequences to it other than the normal consequences where you get, you get tired over— if you do, if you keep refilling your energy bar without sleeping in the game, yeah, you get into tired mode and your energy depletes faster. Yep. But you can kind of just ignore that as well because you just keep drinking more wine. It doesn't matter. So you just have to make sure you make enough wine. And, um, and so I've hit that point where, yeah, it's kind of a little bit broken, but it doesn't— I mean, whatever, it's still fun.
• 6:21
Luke: I'm going to give you some advice: take some time before you go to the sequel. Oh yeah, yeah, because if you were to start to get a bit bored of this one or start to get a bit— and then you go, I'll play the sequel— well, sequel's going to be a lot of the same type of stuff.
• 6:37
Matt: Well, the sequel is not available any on Uh, on Mac. I think it's on a bunch of other platforms. Wait, am I lying? You know what, I'm not gonna check. I'm not gonna check. I, for some reason, I'm into it. For some reason I think that it's not. Uh, I'm gonna look anyway.
• 6:55
  Luke: Uh, couldn't help yourself.
• 6:56
Matt: 2 platforms. Maybe I made that up. And there was another game I was gonna get that, uh, PC— no, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo. Yeah, it's not on the Mac. Yeah, so I can't play on my computer.
• 7:09
Luke: This game I would want to play on my computer, um, just for the running better.
• 7:17
  Matt: Yeah, it's not a—
• 7:19
Luke: could you do it through your GeForce Now?
• 7:22
Matt: No, I checked. That's why. And that's why I was like, was it not this game? I'm sure it's this game. Um, and I think one other game I almost bought and then realized I wouldn't be able to play it. Um, Through GeForce Now.
• 7:34
  Luke: Yeah.
• 7:35
Matt: Um, no, uh, this is not on there yet. Um, oh, actually I shouldn't say that. It wasn't on there the other day, but it only just come out. Sometimes they put them on a little bit late. Let me double check. Let me double check. Graveyard. Oh, it's on there. It's on here.
• 7:51
Luke: It's on here. Then you're fine.
• 7:53
  Matt: Yeah.
• 7:53
  Luke: Okay, problem solved.
• 7:55
Matt: I can spend money and not play it because that's your advice.
• 8:00
Luke: Yes. No, I'm not saying— I'm saying wait a little while before you even buy it.
• 8:05
Matt: I know, I understand. Um, I did play something very briefly on GeForce Now just to see. I launched, uh, The Witcher Remastered.
• 8:20
  Luke: Oh, is that out?
• 8:21
Matt: Yeah, it's out. And, uh, fucking hell, it looks good. I intentionally did it on GeForce Now because I've got the ultimate plan. I just maxed everything out. I just wanted to see, and looks good.
• 8:34
Luke: Okay, I'm probably gonna wait until they release the DLC though before I go back.
• 8:39
Matt: Oh, the new— I think I said the DLC's out, mate. The new DLC? Yeah, but if you're gonna play through the whole game—
• 8:43
  Luke: I'm not.
• 8:44
  Matt: Oh, okay, fair.
• 8:47
Luke: I'm just gonna pick up from where I left off, so I don't wanna— I can't because of the achievements. It's just a waste of time.
• 8:52
Matt: I shouldn't do that. You know what I should do? My favorite of the DLC is Hearts of Stone. That was amazing. And I never finished Blood and Wine.
• 9:02
  Luke: Blood and Wine.
• 9:03
Matt: Yeah, so maybe we can start a new game at Hearts of Stone. Maybe I should do that. Yeah, play through Hearts of Stone again, higher game, and then— yeah, and then play through that, all the, the Blood and Wine DLC.
• 9:17
Luke: Yeah, you could still even touch on some of the other stuff, but if— yeah, if you just start there, it moves you a bit along the story instead of starting from the very start.
• 9:25
Matt: Yeah, I don't know what platform to play it on though, but it's got cross-save, so it actually doesn't matter that much.
• 9:31
  Luke: Okay.
• 9:31
Matt: And I own it on everything because it's been out that long. That's just— let's just work that way.
• 9:38
Luke: Well, you can just play it on all of them then if it's cross-save.
• 9:40
Matt: Exactly. So I could start on PC, play the Xbox a bit, play it on the Switch a bit too. And there's news, uh, for dodgy people Because this is free, right? It unlocks if you have the game.
• 9:52
  Luke: Yep.
• 9:53
Matt: And they'll probably fix this. They may have fixed this already by the time you hear this, and I'm sorry if that's the case. But if you have a Switch, if you have a physical copy of The Witcher 3 and you've got a bunch of friends who all have Switches as well, well, now you've all got it because you just have to put the cartridge in and unlock it and then give the cartridge back.
• 10:12
Luke: Look, I don't think they're gonna fix that, honestly.
• 10:16
  Matt: I mean, probably.
• 10:16
  Luke: I think—
• 10:17
  Matt: don't, don't do it.
• 10:19
  Luke: Don't do it.
• 10:20
Matt: But we like CD Projekt.
• 10:22
Luke: But well, even though— but even if they do do that, they're still gonna have to then buy the game to play it anyway.
• 10:28
Matt: No, I don't think so. I think this article says you can unlock it for free on your account.
• 10:37
Luke: Oh, I thought it was just giving like the upgrade package, not those giving you the game.
• 10:42
Matt: All right, so I can confirm Switch 1 cartridge is no longer needed after claiming The Witcher 3 Remastered. So you need the cartridge to claim it, and then you can give the cartridge back, and then the game is yours.
• 10:51
Luke: That I don't like. Don't do that. They should fix that.
• 10:54
Matt: I'm sorry I mentioned it. Yes, I've upset Luke. Yes, but, uh, yeah, uh, yeah, great game. I don't know how it runs on Switch 2. Be interested to see that. Uh, in this case I can safely because my save—
• 11:09
Luke: yeah, be interested to see like what the the graphics would really look like. Like, is it going to be that much of an upgrade on the Switch compared to—
• 11:19
Matt: well, from, from the Switch version, it probably is.
• 11:22
  Luke: Yes.
• 11:22
Matt: So I don't know, uh, but yeah, compared to— I mean, the— yeah, the thing is, now that I've seen it on, on PC in my— on my ultrawide, you know, with like fucking ray tracing, there's no way you're going down to that with like— I don't know, uh, I'm on like 100 frames a second, I think, on GeForce Cloud when I stream it. Um, so I mean, probably even my Xbox, I'm gonna be like, yeah, yeah, but I don't know, the Xbox version would have been fine. But yeah, so I might end up playing it on here. Um, but yeah, it's out. Uh, it looks great, but it is a big game. It's a very big game.
• 12:06
Luke: Well, it's one of these games I know I'm not going to complete, which means I won't get one of the new achievements that's just dropped.
• 12:12
  Matt: What's the new achievement?
• 12:13
Luke: So you know how— so new achievement, people have been asking this for a while. So Sony have had with their trophies, they've got the Platinum Trophy, which is if you get all of their trophies in the game, you get the Platinum, right? Well, Xbox now have released it and they've called it Mythic. So if you complete all the achievements in the game, you get a Mythic achievement to sort of show up, hey, here's how many games I've completed as a thing. Do you get Gamerscore for that, or just, uh, not Gamerscore, it's just, uh, it's gonna say you're—
• 12:40
Matt: because otherwise you'd retroactively get bumped up several thousand, hundred thousand, million.
• 12:45
Luke: Yeah, well, I've completed 2,220-odd games now.
• 12:50
Matt: So you've just got a lot of Mythic achievements? Do you get them retroactively? Yeah. Okay.
• 12:54
Luke: Yeah, yeah, it does. And they said they're going to fluctuate a little bit because some games, it's not based off the developer, it's based off Xbox. So there's a little fine-tuning with games. So, right, making sure. But I can let you know how many you've got.
• 13:08
  Matt: Oh, okay, not many.
• 13:09
  Luke: Go on.
• 13:10
  Matt: None. Yeah, zero.
• 13:11
Luke: Okay, you've completed zero. Not saying you haven't completed— you haven't. It's about— yeah, it's not about completing games.
• 13:17
Matt: No, no, no, the achievements. And my completed game is different to yours. My completed game means I've extracted the fun out of this that I wanted. Yes. So I'm moving on.
• 13:27
Luke: Yeah, whereas what, what's the fun of a game? Like, no, just unlocking achievements.
• 13:31
Matt: Yeah, because I was going to say, oh, you know, like Assassin's Creed Odyssey. No, I didn't I just finished the storyline and then went, oh, that was great. Yeah, I didn't even finish all the side quests. No, it's just a fucking great game. Yeah, because the problem with me is if I, if I start to go down that road, I will stop enjoying it, and I don't want to.
• 13:49
Luke: Yes, and it has, as I said, like achievements have sort of ruined gaming for me because I want the achievements but I can't stop. Like, it's— yeah, I need them.
• 13:59
Matt: No, I see a lot of games I'm like I'm still having fun. I'm just like, I'm just done with it.
• 14:05
Luke: Yeah, well, even like this NASCAR, I'm gonna spend probably a good 5 hours tonight to unlock a few achievements on this and then move to something else to get more achievements. Probably watch a bit of Ted Lasso while I'm playing this. I think I've got—
• 14:19
Matt: we've got a Ted Lasso update if you want. Um, I mean, it's just, it's under a new segment I've put in there called Stuff Matt Has or Is Watching. Um, actually, I guess technically I am watching both of those because I've, I've rewatched all the Ted Lasso that there is, but there is one more episode to come out.
• 14:38
Luke: So you're actually in front of me then?
• 14:40
  Matt: Oh, there you go.
• 14:41
Luke: So you've been watching season 4? Wow.
• 14:43
Matt: Yeah. Oh yeah, sorry, season 3.
• 14:45
Luke: Because you said season 3 and I'm—
• 14:46
Matt: oh, I'm like, I'm all over the place. I've got the other show on the brain.
• 14:51
Luke: Yeah, I've only watched the first episode of Ted Lasso season 4 so far. Okay, just a bit of spoiler. They go and go, please come back to England because we need this show to go for another season because they're giving us a lot of money.
• 15:03
Matt: And he goes, well, all righty then.
• 15:05
Luke: Yes. I mean, I, I'm gen— I think that's what they said, wasn't it?
• 15:10
Matt: Yeah, yep, yep, yep, verbatim. Yep, yep. And then, well, I know it's, it's a bit silly because of the whole thing that he left at the end of season 3 and moved back to America, but then it is because they did tie everything up and it was a nice ending. I know. But I'll say this, it's slightly more complicated than that. Yeah, it's like, again, slight spoilers, you know, his ex-wife is no longer with the former therapist guy, she's single again, so she and the son move as well. So it's like, okay, that wasn't gonna happen at the end of season 3, and it was his son that was the, the thing. So yes, he wanted to be back with his family, and yeah, so yeah, so the fact that his son comes with him Yeah.
• 15:52
  Luke: Hi.
• 15:57
  Matt: What?
• 15:58
Luke: We have an early guest appearance this week.
• 16:03
Matt: What's up, kiddo? Oh, can you get some out of the cupboard?
• 16:13
Luke: You looking for coffee again?
• 16:15
Matt: I'll be back. I'm sorry.
• 16:18
Luke: I'm gonna try the pause button. And we're back. I tried the pause button.
• 16:26
Matt: Oh, I didn't know we had a pause button.
• 16:27
Luke: Yeah, I just found it.
• 16:29
Matt: So there is a bunch of new stuff in StreamYard. I just—
• 16:32
Luke: they keep adding stuff all the time. Yeah, we don't use it.
• 16:35
Matt: No, I went to come in and the interface for getting in here was different. It's got like a little preview and everything. Very fancy. Well done, StreamYard. Uh, sorry. Yeah, what was I saying? Oh yeah, Ted Lasso season 4. It's good. Yeah, I mean, I should say, I, I saw online people were like, why do we have this? Because for a lot of the start of it, I was kind of like, yeah, this doesn't need to exist. Um, but I'm enjoying it. It's gotten good.
• 17:03
Luke: Yeah. Okay. Oh yeah, I've been looking forward to watch. I've been holding off on sort of so I can watch it all because There's a lot of stuff coming out on Apple that I was waiting for, so yeah, now yeah, you like to save up.
• 17:15
Matt: Yeah, for a bit and then go away again.
• 17:17
Luke: Yeah, because Apple— I don't— Apple's— I don't, I don't know if it's a good streaming service or not. They do get some great shows. Yeah, but then once you watch those shows, there's nothing else really there.
• 17:28
Matt: Uh, it's got Formula 1 on it, so I'm keeping it.
• 17:32
Luke: Yeah, because I'm basically saving money over by not going to package for Formula 1 separately.
• 17:37
Matt: Yeah, so I guess there's no reason for me not to have it.
• 17:40
Luke: Um, a lot of them are starting to get sports balls as well.
• 17:45
Matt: Yep. There's no ball in Formula 1. Like, that would be amazing. It was like, um, fucking, uh, Rocket League. That would be amazing.
• 17:54
Luke: But Netflix has got sort of wrestling and boxing they've been putting on. Paramount's got soccer. Like, they've all starting to go here, pay for us and you also get this sport.
• 18:04
Matt: Yeah, yeah. I think subscribers to like over here, like ESPN and that, have like dropped off. So yeah, that's probably why they're doing that. Yeah, we change things all the time. Fuck, it's annoying. Remember when it was just Netflix and everyone was like, oh yeah, we can now watch everything for $10? Yes. And now it's not even $10 a month, it's still $10 a month.
• 18:22
Luke: Yeah. And yeah, if you want to watch everything, you need 15 different streaming services and yeah.
• 18:29
Matt: Yeah, and even then stuff just jumps from one to the other.
• 18:32
Luke: Yep. No, and we always knew that was going to happen.
• 18:35
Matt: But do you know what I saw the other day actually was an article, a YouTube video about, you know, everybody's into like going back to physical media. We talked about this because they keep snatching away all of our digital media.
• 18:48
Luke: As I keep saying, like a lot of the games even today when it was coming, oh, play this game. No, it's been delisted and hard to listen. I can't even though I own it. I owned it, it's gone.
• 18:57
Matt: Yeah, well, you have to be careful buying stuff online and apparently even in stores because, um, there are bootleg physical media out there in, in retail stores.
• 19:15
  Luke: Retail stores?
• 19:16
Matt: It's gotten so pervasive that it's very hard to tell now. And, um, but basically the, the The, the problem with it is if you buy, uh, something like— it was talking about like even like box sets of things like the Gilmore Girls and like Frasier and stuff like that, collectors of the old, old TV shows and stuff like that. If you buy them especially off the internet, um, you need to be careful because they, um, there's like dual layer discs and single layer discs. And what they do is somebody somewhere in the world buys the official one, and then they just make copies of it on single-layer discs that are less expensive, and then they copy the packaging perfectly. Yeah, right. Everything about it is, is perfect, right? Except the video quality is shitter.
• 20:03
Luke: Shit. And sadly, a lot of people might not even notice, especially if you're buying like an old television show. Yeah, that must have been how it was.
• 20:14
Matt: No. Maybe not. There's, there's, uh, it's, it's been recompressed by, by somebody somewhere and stuck on lower quality media. And then the other one is too, apparently, is it— I think it was Warner. If you buy an old Warner, um, movie from— they have like an archive thing where you can buy like old movies and stuff like that.
• 20:32
  Luke: Yep.
• 20:33
Matt: They make them on re-recordable discs, like on demand. So they just send you a copy of it on like a re— like one of those writable discs, and it's The quality's shit.
• 20:45
Luke: I, I would— that's a great idea if the quality came with it.
• 20:48
Matt: Yeah, but apparently it doesn't. That's the thing. And then so now there's been like collectors who've like suddenly realized this, gone back through the collection and been like, fucking naff, this is bootleg shit. Like, and they just didn't know because you can't tell from looking at the, the box and everything. The box looks identical. Like, until you get it home and look at the discs themselves and see, oh no, these are crappy. Yeah, yeah, amazing. So anyway, be careful if you care about that.
• 21:16
Luke: Yeah, I'm not a big— I'm not huge on the quality so much anymore with a lot of television shows. Yeah, I don't need to look crisp.
• 21:25
Matt: No, I know, but if you're like buying it, like, if I was buying it, oh yeah, one example they gave is that there are— you can buy, I think, I think 4K Um, discs of The Abyss. This has never been released on 4K, but you can buy it, and it's the Blu-ray upscaled and burned onto 4K discs by somebody somewhere in the world. And it's just— this thing's just for sale out there, and on the back it even says 1080p. So it's a whole Blu-ray.
• 21:56
Luke: Like, I remember buying bootleg DVDs back in the day. Yeah, you go—
• 22:01
Matt: no, but someone just had a car, you go to Amazon, you buy them off Amazon.
• 22:05
Luke: Like, how can they get away with that? Like, you know who they—
• 22:08
Matt: that they've been like shuffled into the ecosystem and I guess nobody noticed for a long time and now it's fucked. Yeah, isn't that— anyway, I thought that was very interesting.
• 22:19
Luke: It is. It's crazy though.
• 22:22
Matt: Mm-hmm. Um, something else I've been watching, which Australian show, lots of Sydney in this show, makes me, uh, they go, I've been there.
• 22:33
  Luke: Yeah, drunk there.
• 22:36
Matt: A lot of the places in this show— this show is Colin from Accounts.
• 22:40
Luke: I love this from the first episode where we got a great show.
• 22:43
Matt: It's a great show. It's super funny.
• 22:47
Luke: What I think I love about it as well, because it's the whole show is about like a couple that meets and they've got issues with their ages and trying to get along.
• 22:56
  Matt: It's very like—
• 22:57
Luke: they're actually a married couple in real life.
• 22:59
Matt: Yeah. It's actually like very, um, I don't know, it's like realistic. The stakes are never like huge. It doesn't get silly or out of hand or anything, you know. Like it's like it's his birthday party and he kisses her when they're dating somebody else kind of thing. It's like that kind of show where— but like, but set in the place we grew up. So everywhere they go, we're like, oh fuck, I know where that is. Uh, and it's very funny. Like, they're both— performances are super good.
• 23:23
Luke: I didn't know season 3 was out. I'm gonna have to watch that as well now.
• 23:26
Matt: That's really good. Yeah, it's like— I won't spoil stuff. It's set a few years later. You remember what happened at the end of season 2?
• 23:32
  Luke: No, tell me.
• 23:33
  Matt: He proposed to her.
• 23:35
  Luke: Oh yes.
• 23:35
Matt: Yep. Yeah, and that didn't go well. Yeah, so it's set like a couple years later and they've just not seen each other. Oh yeah. No, but— and that's why at first I was like, oh no, but then no, it's good because you— they go back and fill in gaps and stuff like that and it gives them more to do because they've got other stuff going on.
• 23:52
Luke: Okay, great. Is Colin still there?
• 23:54
  Matt: Yeah, Colin's still there.
• 23:55
  Luke: Excellent.
• 23:56
Matt: Yeah, there's a really funny bit where— oh, it's not a spoiler, it just made me laugh because it just reminded me of how funny the show is. Because they see each other and then she goes, oh, how's Colin? He goes, oh, it's good, his legs work again. She goes, really? He goes, no. I was like, yeah, that's right, I love this show. It's very Australian.
• 24:17
Luke: All right, what's that on? Is that on Apple as well or is that something else?
• 24:20
Matt: Uh, no, it was on Paramount here.
• 24:22
Luke: Paramount. Okay, I have Paramount at the moment.
• 24:26
Matt: I don't know if it's all Paramount there, but it's on Paramount here. It might be on like Binge or something. Oh wait, it's a Foxtel original.
• 24:32
Luke: It says that it would be Binge then, I'd be guessing, which I don't have Binge at the moment.
• 24:36
Matt: God damn it, we don't have Binge here. I think nobody here would want a streaming service called Binge. I know it's not an Australian word, but it sounds very Australian. Binge it is.
• 24:49
Luke: But well, we do use it a lot because— but in relation to binge drinking. Like, yeah, it's sort of a weird one to go where we try and say like binge drinking is bad. Yeah, we're gonna name—
• 24:59
Matt: come check out the most problematic television streaming service.
• 25:04
Luke: Yeah, one thing I find Paramount streaming service a bit annoying on, it's sort of the opposite to Netflix. You know how Netflix will stop and go like, are you still watching? Oh yeah. But with Paramount, you can finish watching a movie and just go, now you're gonna watch this movie.
• 25:22
Matt: Yeah, I get Paramount for free with my Walmart Plus subscription. Oh, um, where I get free grocery delivery and a bunch of other shit. Actually good, like some pretty good, some pretty good benefits. Uh, if you're in the US and you don't have Walmart Plus, I recommend you check it out. It's got some good extra shit that you might not know about. It's not just the grocery delivery stuff.
• 25:42
Luke: I used to get, um, I used to pay like, I forget how much, like $150 a year for Woolworths to just get delivery. Yeah. And then at the end of the year you go, here's how much you saved on delivery because you could just do it anytime express.
• 25:54
  Matt: Yeah.
• 25:55
Luke: And they go, yeah, you saved about like— what was it? It was like over $1,000. Yeah. Delivery fees. Because I just order and go deliver it tomorrow and like, or immediately.
• 26:06
Matt: I know I'm very lucky to be able to do this, right? But I sometimes think, oh, is grocery delivery something stupid to be paying for? But then I go to the grocery store and it just takes fucking ages. And then like to go to the grocery store and find everything I need and all that kind of— and then like, whereas, um, like I said, I did— I know this is— I'm coming from a place of privilege here, but to be able to just go on the fucking app and go, I need that, I need that, I need that, I need that, I need that, okay, bring it to my house, and someone does.
• 26:31
Luke: And then you're actually getting all the stuff you actually need, not the right stuff that you don't.
• 26:36
  Matt: Yeah, exactly.
• 26:37
Luke: Well, yeah, and then you forget to pick something up.
• 26:39
Matt: I'm like, oh, I gotta take Lyra with me, and then she sees fucking snacks and shit, and then trolley gets filled up with those and it just— and again, it just takes a long time to do all that stuff.
• 26:48
Luke: And I think it's pretty easy.
• 26:49
Matt: I know it's because I'm lucky, but I can, I can have someone else do that for me.
• 26:52
Luke: I finish work, I walk across the road to the shops, and then 5 minutes I'm home. So there's no point in me getting delivery. No, I'm gonna be a waste.
• 27:00
Matt: I gotta drive. Um, but, and then also I think Walmart Plus, I think it's like $100 and something a year, but I get Walmart— I get Paramount Plus free. I get like, um, I can wear all the other things too. You get like cheap petrol, you get Fucking, uh, I'd have to— oh yeah, like free, um, I found this out last year, they'll repair punctures for free on your tires if you go to Walmart.
• 27:20
  Luke: The Walmart, that's awesome.
• 27:21
Matt: There's all sorts of stuff that they'll— yeah, it's pretty good.
• 27:23
Luke: That's an awesome one because that's a frustrating thing to get done. So you can basically drop— drive up, drop yourself off, and go shopping while they're doing that for free.
• 27:31
Matt: And so yeah, if you're in the US, they want you to do— have a look at the stuff that comes with it, it's pretty good.
• 27:36
Luke: Can you order me some Runts please?
• 27:39
Matt: Can you not get runs there?
• 27:41
Luke: Oh, we can, but they're hard to find. Runs and Xbox gift cards.
• 27:45
  Matt: Sounds like a scam.
• 27:47
Luke: It's not. I need them for things, and it'll wipe your debt that you owe. Oh, you, you owe the government. If you know, if you don't send me those, oh, coming for you.
• 28:02
Matt: Okay, okay. I was like, am I not— can I— should I not come back to Australia?
• 28:07
Luke: Do I owe you money? No, you do not, because you've got— you've got my— because basically the money you owe me is just going towards my rent, so it all evens out.
• 28:18
  Matt: I see. All right.
• 28:18
  Luke: Okay.
• 28:19
Matt: Yeah, and I'll send you some runs and some gift cards. I'll get them.
• 28:22
Luke: Runs, because I want to play— I still want to play, um, oh, what is it?
• 28:29
Matt: Just checking there, friends. Keep going.
• 28:30
  Luke: Sega game.
• 28:32
  Matt: Sonic the Hedgehog.
• 28:33
Luke: Sonic CD. Mega CD. It led to games being banned.
• 28:40
  Matt: Runts, $2.
• 28:41
Luke: Vampires. No, the runts actually just buy by the kilo.
• 28:49
Matt: Um, oh, like a big bag of them?
• 28:50
Luke: Yeah, I just buy a kilo of them here every now and again.
• 28:53
Matt: Yeah. Oh yeah, pound bag.
• 28:56
  Luke: Yeah.
• 28:57
Matt: How much is a pound versus a kilo? 1 pound in cook, half a kilogram. That seems expensive. Anyway, um, the Sega game Vampires.
• 29:08
Luke: Vampires. Um, it's— oh, what is it?
• 29:13
  Matt: Dawnwalker?
• 29:14
Luke: No, not Dawnwalker. Everyone's gonna be yelling it.
• 29:18
  Matt: Vampire: The Last Parade?
• 29:20
Luke: No, it's like a full motion video.
• 29:23
Matt: Oh, like an old one?
• 29:25
Luke: Old one. Oh, where is it? I'm trying to look for it on this game. You're gonna know it the second it comes up. Vampire again. Really? There's like girls that you gotta save.
• 29:37
Matt: Bram Stoker's Dracula? No. Vampire Master of Darkness?
• 29:42
Luke: They're not real vampires. They're Night Trap.
• 29:46
  Matt: Oh, Night Trap.
• 29:47
  Luke: Nice.
• 29:48
  Matt: Okay. Yeah, yeah.
• 29:49
Luke: Okay, because they re-released it, but yeah, it didn't get released in Australia, so I need to get an American account set up so I can actually—
• 29:56
Matt: you're right, I feel fucking stupid for not having thought of that. Yeah, I have that. Yeah, I don't know how the video cameras—
• 30:01
  Luke: yeah. Yeah, okay.
• 30:04
Matt: Um, on the topic of video games, it is episode 666, and I do have some spook— some, some, some sort of relevant stuff that's coming. Yeah, yeah. Um, but first I want to talk about just the fact that, um, you know, with a lot of— with what's going on in the, in the gaming world, in Microsoft in particular, um, apparently the developers of Gears of War E-Day, which is coming out soon comes out.
• 30:31
Luke: Like, if you want to get the— it's out now if you've got the digital. Yeah, right, the version or whatever.
• 30:38
Matt: If you're, if you're a developer working on a, on a game for Microsoft, you're a bit scared right now, right? These guys have basically said they're worried the game comes out next week and, um, well, they're not going to need them anymore because the game's going to be out.
• 30:52
  Luke: The game's out.
• 30:52
Matt: And then a lot of the developers know that and they're like, what's gonna happen? They're worried about their jobs. And their bonuses that they're supposed to get, uh, for, for delivering the game on time and under budget and all that kind of jazz. They've got, um, they've got a bunch of money that they're supposed to get if they meet certain requirements. But I guess if you don't work there anymore, you don't get any bonuses. So I don't know. And then although people sue for this kind of stuff, I suppose. But yeah, they're just worried about it and like, man, that sucks.
• 31:21
Luke: And I think it is a bit more worried, a bit more worried now than the normal worry about when a game finishes. Because yeah, oh yeah, it used to happen anyway where, sure, you, you get to the end, it comes out, you sort of ramp down, and then you ramp up once you start working next game. But now they're just firing people even when they're still working on the game before it's come out.
• 31:41
Matt: That's what I mean. You're standing there working on this game, it's about to come out, and all your friends are being murdered. Yes. And then they're like— and then Microsoft's like, no, you're good, finish the game.
• 31:51
Luke: Yeah, finish that up. We'll look after you.
• 31:54
Matt: Everything's gonna be fine, just finish the game. Yeah, game gets released next week.
• 32:00
Luke: Yeah, and this is why the AAA studios aren't— don't set up offices in Australia.
• 32:05
Matt: Yeah, because you're not allowed to do that shit.
• 32:07
Luke: You can't do this. You have to go into consultation periods. There's a lot more goes into— as Elon Musk found out when he tried to just fire everyone at X. Yeah, and then, um, you can't do that.
• 32:19
Matt: 2K with, uh, Team Bondi and all that kind of stuff, there was drama about that because they tried to run that place like a like an American studio. It didn't go well. Yeah, because Australians aren't gonna put up with that shit.
• 32:31
Luke: Yeah, yeah. Like, don't get us wrong, the Australians would put everything they can into it, and they did get away with a lot from what I recall.
• 32:37
Matt: Yeah, that was probably one of the shittiest places to work in Sydney, um, at that time, if you're working on video games anyway.
• 32:43
Luke: Uh, but yeah, yeah, but yeah, in America, it's the rights for workers isn't the greatest as is in most other countries where it's just tomorrow your boss can just go You're fired.
• 32:55
Matt: I can be fired for any reason. And the only thing you have— they have to be careful not to, not to make it, uh, documented and obvious that it was for, for a protected class kind of thing.
• 33:08
  Luke: Yeah.
• 33:08
Matt: But like, it's a pretty difficult thing to prove, I think, most of the time here, because you can just be fired for any reason. Yeah. So they could just say, oh, you know, we just, just do it.
• 33:18
Luke: And it's a thing that happens a lot when like a new CEO or someone comes in. The first thing they do is get rid of a lot of people so they can get their own people in and restructure to go, we're making changes straight away, we're going to restructure, so everyone's got to fight for their job from day one.
• 33:34
Matt: The thing is, like, some states like California, uh, have laws to make it harder, and then they complain about it here. Like, employers, employers, they can't fire anybody for anything anymore. It's like, yes, you fucking can, compared to other places in the world. You do everything you want here in America. Just fire everybody. Like, yeah, yeah, it's weird.
• 33:53
Luke: Well, that's the reason why I just ended up not getting into the game business, because I don't want to have to have my resume ready to go. Well, no, I had—
• 34:00
Matt: I know, I know, I know you're gonna do testing. I know, I know.
• 34:03
Luke: I had a job offer with 2K Australia. Yeah, and I'm lucky I didn't take it because the next year they no longer existed in Australia.
• 34:10
Matt: Yeah, that's true, right? Do you want to do an evil segment? Oh, it is episode 666.
• 34:19
Luke: Evil segment. Do we— I know you've got 2 here. Do we keep one for now and one for the after party?
• 34:26
Matt: We can do that. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, that probably works out actually, because the second one, I think most of the stuff that would be relevant was in the after party. But the, uh, the thing I wanted to talk about was just, uh, the 7 Deadly Sins.
• 34:40
  Luke: Okay, yeah.
• 34:42
Matt: And I was thinking the recent, or even not so recent news, uh, you know, stuff that happened in the last year or so, right? I think we should assign somebody as representative of each of the 7 deadly sins.
• 34:56
  Luke: Okay, all right.
• 34:58
Matt: Uh, for example, the first sin I have on the table— you look concerned, what's wrong?
• 35:05
Luke: Well, I'm just trying to think of I know one person that I could probably just assign all to, but we'll see.
• 35:10
Matt: All right, let's start with greed. Okay, greed. We've got, uh, we've got Microsoft's price increase, uh, and the gaming cloud hour limits. Not a bad candidate. Also with the stuff we just talked about.
• 35:27
Luke: Yep. You know, and then they did roll some of that back, but it was not a good thing that they were trying to do.
• 35:35
Matt: I mean, you could argue, is it greed or is it just the fact that the business model isn't viable and somebody's come in and gone, oh my God, we need to change this?
• 35:42
Luke: We— yeah, we need to. Because it's so weird, sometimes we hear that the Game Pass is doing great and they're making money, and then that's what they told us. It's not— the developers, especially indie, seem to think it's a good deal.
• 35:56
  Matt: Yeah, sure.
• 35:57
Luke: Yeah, a lot of ones I've heard about, like, they go, no, we Yeah, yeah. So it's a tough one, but all right, who else do you have though?
• 36:06
Matt: All right, I've got, uh, I've got Sony deleting everybody's movies and taking away your physical discs.
• 36:14
Luke: That's just poor marketing on this.
• 36:16
Matt: Yeah, I think they're taking away people's movie. I put it on here because it's funny, but they're taking away people's movies is more complicated than that. It's not—
• 36:22
Luke: it's not— it's the world. It's the world.
• 36:24
Matt: Yeah, it's the way that the licensing works and we've fucked it up over time.
• 36:28
Luke: Yeah, it's an unfortunate consequence, and we're only just starting to hit it because we— digital wasn't really the biggest thing. Even really, honestly, to me, it wasn't planned for about 10 years ago. It really started to take off, like downloading all your games and buying your stuff online completely. Like, from the Xbox One onwards is when I started doing everything digital for games, movies, everything. So that was So it hasn't been that long, and now we're finding out now that, yeah, it's not good for us.
• 37:00
Matt: I think the movies thing though is like, it's not that they didn't just do this. This is not a consequence of how things have been, except they— the way they handled it wasn't great. They like walked into it. And also we're still continuing to adopt that for games.
• 37:16
Luke: Yeah, we're not going to give you an option to not.
• 37:19
Matt: So in that regard, like, you don't have the excuse for the new stuff, but for— yeah, the movies where the licenses expire, that kind of stuff. Yeah, okay, that's legacy stuff. Like, it's not technically their fault. However, they are being dicks about it, and it's now being applied to games and stuff as well when it really doesn't need to be. So yeah, I would say that's greed, potentially pretty greedy. All right, uh, and then, uh, this one I dredged up from the, from the archive somewhat. Uh, it was the EA's loot box stance about how it gives everybody a sense of pride and accomplishment, uh, not them a bunch of money to sell people loot boxes.
• 38:01
Luke: All right, is that the 3?
• 38:03
Matt: Because, uh, I mean, we can think of more. Those are the 3.
• 38:05
Luke: I'd like to throw another one in.
• 38:06
Matt: Go on. Yeah, of course. That—
• 38:07
  Luke: this is just—
• 38:08
Matt: we're just discussing it here.
• 38:09
Luke: Was it Unity that came out with the big— that, hey, we're gonna do this, so you have to pay, and it's going to be retroactive per install. Yeah, per install, which bankrupted some of the smaller indie devs. Yeah, because it wasn't just someone purchased it, it was every time that a user installed it. So if I installed it 10 times, they have— that developer has to pay them 10 times for me. And so, which is ridiculous. I think—
• 38:39
  Matt: I think it's a good example.
• 38:40
  Luke: Yeah, because it's—
• 38:41
Matt: it, it speaks of nobody who actually knew anything about how any of this stuff works thought of it. Guys in suits purely thinking about money, money came up with that idea because it's funny. It's a stupid idea.
• 38:53
Luke: Yes. Like, even if they had to come up— look, we're looking at making this change, it's going to be from like this date going forward— it's still going to be terrible for people, and you'd still have a lot of developers jumping ship and moving to someone else. But the fact they went, no, no, this is from We're back, we're doing it from the day you started doing it. We're gonna— you're gonna owe us thousands, if not millions of dollars. Yeah, that I think is going to win. It'll win for me because that was just— all right, you agreed.
• 39:22
Matt: You know what, I like that one. Yeah, we're going to assign greed to Unity. Yeah, very good, very good. Made me not want to— I mean, not that I ended up ever making any games. I do dabble from time to time, and it made me think I wouldn't use it because I wouldn't trust them.
• 39:35
Luke: Yeah, because he knew what they were trying to do, and who's to say they're not going to turn around and do something like that?
• 39:41
Matt: Well, that's why it was such a stupid thing to do, because now it's kind of like you've made everybody go, well, hang on, like, sure, you walked it back this time, but you still— you were gonna do it.
• 39:50
Luke: Like, yes. So that's why everyone's just going over to— what's the other one? There's only really—
• 39:54
Matt: Godot. Godot. Godot. Godot. I don't know how to pronounce that correctly. Godot.
• 40:00
  Luke: Waiting for Godot.
• 40:00
  Matt: Yep.
• 40:03
Luke: G-O-D-O-T. Because yeah, not— that was free and open. All right, what else do we have? What's next?
• 40:10
  Matt: Sloth.
• 40:11
  Luke: Uh, me.
• 40:13
Matt: Uh, we could put you up. We can put you up. You'd be up there next to, uh, Squadron 42. You'll be up there next to The Elder Scrolls 6, and you'd be up there next to Half-Life 3. Those are the 3 I came up with. You can think of some more, but I think, I think, I think, I think, uh, Chris Roberts is probably gonna win this one.
• 40:37
Luke: I think Chris Roberts needs to win this one.
• 40:39
Matt: Like, I know they are doing stuff, but I, I also think that one could cross over into pride or, uh, envy or a number of other sins, because I think a lot of the problem with Star Citizen is them looking at other games and looking at other technology and not sticking to the fucking plan.
• 41:01
Luke: I think— I even think they might be at a stage where they're afraid to release anything.
• 41:06
Matt: Yeah, this is done. It's not a fear one, is there?
• 41:12
Luke: No, no. When did you start trying? Because it's, uh, the game was announced in 2012. So it's 14 years, they've made over a billion dollars, and they still haven't released a fucking game. And they haven't released anything. And it's the point, even when they were going off to show how good this thing was going to be, um, it was broken and terrible and led to people in their own area pretty much fighting each other. So Yeah, Chris, I think it's a tough one because I can see pride as well. Yeah, like pride is definitely one of them.
• 41:58
Matt: We could go Duke Nukem Forever too. Duke Nukem Forever could get tossed in here. I didn't think of that at the time.
• 42:02
Luke: So I don't think greed— it's not greed. It wouldn't be greed for him.
• 42:06
Matt: No, I think it's more about just not never being satisfied. It's the George Lucas effect. Yeah, he just can't let go of it, I think.
• 42:14
Luke: Probably it, which is really a shame because he's—
• 42:17
Matt: you know what, he's talking me out of it being sloth now. I think, yeah, I think it might be pride.
• 42:22
Luke: Yeah, I don't think he— I don't think he's lazy. Like, I think he— yeah, I think it is going to be more the pride that he will end up on than the sloth.
• 42:31
Matt: All right, well then, what do we have for sloth then? I mean, all the stuff—
• 42:35
Luke: yeah, I know, some duties or good work. Planetary duties. Who could that be?
• 42:44
  Matt: Oh, you like—
• 42:45
Luke: yeah, yeah. Apathy, physical apathy, laziness, and the avoiding— avoidance of duties or good work.
• 42:55
Matt: Yes, could be us. Maybe it's us.
• 43:00
Luke: Well, I'd say me over you.
• 43:04
  Matt: Sure, you do stuff.
• 43:06
Luke: I don't. I do not on this podcast. I rock up.
• 43:09
Matt: All right, we'll give it to you.
• 43:11
Luke: It's me. I'll take Sloth.
• 43:13
Matt: All right, all right. Envy.
• 43:17
  Luke: Envy.
• 43:18
Matt: Uh, I've got here, um, every publisher looking at Fortnite.
• 43:25
Luke: Yeah, every single publisher. Every single one that has tried to do a live service that has just fallen on its ass because And even Fortnite, because Fortnite— remember Fortnite was not the game? No, look at day one. The game we were told about was very different.
• 43:44
Matt: I see it now and I'm like, zombies, what is this? It's got like— yeah, and then like just smush every fucking property into it. Honestly, it's kind of genius.
• 43:52
Luke: Yeah, for like making money, because what it was is PUBG was the big one.
• 43:56
Matt: Yes, they were guilty as well, to be honest.
• 43:59
Luke: They were the ones that started it all. Yeah, before I went we could do that, and we've got this property which we're not really happy with the game, so yeah, let's just shift to this.
• 44:10
Matt: So technically they were guilty of envy as well. It's just everybody. Everyone.
• 44:18
Luke: Yeah, yeah. Oh look, I am going to go with Fortnite though. I think— oh, I think Fortnite. No, no, all right, no, no. Why? They were the first to do it, but I think they were the first ones to really do it well. Um, while PUBG was popular, this really— Fortnite was some— brought it out to everyone. Yeah, because remember, yeah, PUBG was more of an adult game, whereas yeah, Fortnite opened the door to—
• 44:44
Matt: yeah, yeah, it was clever.
• 44:47
Luke: Every other studio's with— oh, what is it? You got Suicide Squad, um Avengers, like everyone, everything, everything, every game has to have some fucking live service thing with it bolted onto it.
• 45:00
Matt: The Last of Us has a multiplayer fucking thing as well.
• 45:03
Luke: Like, everything, everything, that multiplayer was actually quite good.
• 45:07
Matt: Yeah, yeah, but still, why? It's just, it's odd.
• 45:10
Luke: Like, but for everything, like, yeah, the live service is the— yeah, so yeah, we can give that to everyone, every— anyone who's tried to release a live service game and taken a good property and turned it into crap because they wanted to do the infinite money glitch, essentially.
• 45:27
Matt: Look, I gotta submit you for this one as well though, because you may have been green with envy over that Xbox you didn't get. The green Xbox.
• 45:36
Luke: I'm still pissed off about that. See, I could see— I could, I could go buy one right now, and that's the thing that even annoys me more.
• 45:46
Matt: Wait, oh, because there's— because they're expensive scalpers. Yeah.
• 45:53
Luke: Box Series X screen. I forget what it's called, but it'll get me there. Um, yep, $4,000. Oh God, $2,700, $3,000, $3,000. Just these people are just the worst.
• 46:13
  Matt: That's fucked up.
• 46:14
Luke: People do not buy— do not buy them unless they drop down to retail value.
• 46:20
Matt: Yeah, so they can also get one. Stop encouraging them.
• 46:24
Luke: Well, that's the only way to stop them, unfortunately.
• 46:26
  Matt: Yeah, of course.
• 46:27
Luke: And actually, Pokémon actually did a thing recently which has upset a lot of them.
• 46:32
  Matt: What's that?
• 46:33
Luke: So Pokémon released a new set. They've printed a ton of them. They've made the, like, the, the good cards, they've printed more of them. Yeah, so all the scalpers ran out day one, bought everything, and now— but you can still buy them in stores essentially, and they hit drops are great. So they've got all these scalpers.
• 46:51
  Matt: Oh, I see.
• 46:53
Luke: Like, they're complaining, like, it's not worth us to sell this for only an extra $50 to $100. Like, good, good.
• 46:59
  Matt: Yeah, fuck off.
• 47:01
Luke: This shouldn't be a business.
• 47:03
Matt: Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, next.
• 47:08
  Luke: Wrath.
• 47:09
  Matt: Wrath.
• 47:09
  Luke: Wrath.
• 47:10
Matt: Okay, Wrath pronunciation. Uh, look, A lot of, a lot of people have been mad about a lot of things.
• 47:17
Luke: I think I know who to give this to.
• 47:20
Matt: Okay, all right, you go.
• 47:23
  Luke: The internet.
• 47:24
Matt: Yes, really? Yeah, yeah, yep.
• 47:28
Luke: Like, there's no one else out there that is worse and with hatred and rage than the internet.
• 47:36
Matt: I think a recent example is based on going back looking at the most recent podcasts. People get mad about Wolverine.
• 47:41
Luke: Mm-hmm. People get— they got mad that it was an okay game.
• 47:45
Matt: Yeah, yeah, he could smell farts. He couldn't smell farts. That was fucking stupid. It was— it's the same. It's like a fucking Witcher sense thing. It's just, yeah, people are fucking annoying.
• 47:55
  Luke: Yep.
• 47:57
Matt: People got mad at The Odyssey. People get mad.
• 48:01
Luke: I still laugh though. People at The Odyssey who are against it, like, this is all left-wing, go woke go broke, you're all doing this. And then when it came out, why did they say Elliot Page was in it so much? It was like No one did.
• 48:12
Matt: Yeah, you did. You just made that up. Yeah, who gives a shit?
• 48:16
Luke: Like, you made this big thing about it, and then when it wasn't a big thing, you're going, why did you make it? No, you made it. No one else did.
• 48:24
Matt: He blew all this up into a big— yeah, exactly. Yeah, stupid.
• 48:27
  Luke: So internet it is.
• 48:29
Matt: The only other one I found, because it made me laugh, was that William Shatner getting angry about his, um, Magic: The Gathering card. I just thought that was funny too. But yes, the internet, definitely. We could lump him in with that actually, because it was on Twitter that he did that.
• 48:41
Luke: Yeah, it's the internet as well.
• 48:42
Matt: Yeah. All right, the internet wins.
• 48:44
  Luke: Yeah.
• 48:45
  Matt: Um, all right, gluttony.
• 48:47
  Luke: Gluttony.
• 48:48
  Matt: I think Xbox recently—
• 48:51
Luke: until, until recently, Xbox, they've just been consuming everything, and then finally they purchased everyone under the sun, and then are now getting rid of every single studio again. Yes, in a very short time span.
• 49:08
Matt: Yep, yep. I think they just consumed way too much.
• 49:13
Luke: Or do we maybe look at Paramount and the merger?
• 49:17
  Matt: Oh yeah, could be.
• 49:18
Luke: Yeah, which they're sort of taking on everything. So Skydance, yes.
• 49:26
Matt: Yeah, I mean, there was that before, but yes.
• 49:29
Luke: But look, I might shock everyone with this. I'm gonna say Xbox.
• 49:32
  Matt: Yeah, all right.
• 49:33
Luke: Like, I think, yeah, they did go out and just were very hungry, wanted everything to go, look, now we've got all these studios, we're gonna make all these in-house games, first party, you're gonna love it. And then they've cost a lot of people their jobs and fired it, and because of it, which is— I don't think it's good. So yeah, all right. Yep.
• 49:54
Matt: And one other candidate, or we can do an honorable mention, is, uh, is just game install sizes versus the affordability of fucking hard drive space right now. I think maybe we need to dial back the install sizes, guys. I can't afford a bigger hard drive.
• 50:08
Luke: No. Well, even the hard drives, extra hard drives for the Xboxes when they came out—
• 50:13
Matt: yes, that's what I mean—
• 50:14
Luke: like half the cost of an Xbox.
• 50:16
Matt: I've got 1 terabyte in there because that's— I'm not buying one of those drives.
• 50:19
Luke: I'm not. And like, 1 terabyte is nothing these days. That's exactly less.
• 50:25
  Matt: It's half again.
• 50:26
Luke: It's less than— because you've got to admit, you've got the 1 terabyte, you're actually going to have what, maybe 900 gig? Because of—
• 50:33
Matt: yeah, yeah, system stuff and formatting.
• 50:35
Luke: You can't even install like 7 AAA games. No, that would fill your hard drive up.
• 50:41
Matt: And yep, and I've got a little SSD connected that I could put older games on, except technically when I play an older game now, I want the enhanced version, which means it's got to be on the internal drive.
• 50:52
Luke: Yes, so there's a way you can do it where you have the external and then you move it on and when you want to play it you transfer it up. That's just a pain because yeah, we don't want to play it. I just want to play it now.
• 51:01
Matt: Yeah, yeah. And I mean, I'm again unlucky, my internet's pretty fast. I don't think that'd be worth the bother for me. I just downloaded again.
• 51:12
Luke: Oh, I just thought of something else.
• 51:14
  Matt: Go on.
• 51:16
Luke: So which one are we doing at the moment? We're doing Gluttony.
• 51:18
  Matt: Yeah, Gluttony.
• 51:21
Luke: AI. Oh, oh, that's a good— all the data centers, and they're the ones with the cost of memory. They're just—
• 51:29
  Matt: yeah, that's good.
• 51:29
Luke: We need it, we want it, we're taking over every single town we can. And yeah, all right, I'm gonna go AI with this one. All right, SI.
• 51:37
Matt: SI. You know what, I was so focused on games I didn't even think about that.
• 51:41
Luke: Yeah, yeah, no, that only just hit me when— yeah, like we're talking about game sizes, the cost of memory, then yeah, like AI is because that's the cause.
• 51:48
Matt: All right, all right. So we're gonna give it to— gonna give it to Claude or ChatGPT or both?
• 51:54
Luke: All of them. All of them. Yeah, they're all equally as guilty.
• 51:58
  Matt: All right, Pride.
• 52:03
Luke: Who else do you have? But I'm really going back to Chris Roberts with this.
• 52:06
  Matt: He's good.
• 52:10
Luke: Um, yeah, or your president.
• 52:13
Matt: Oh yeah, actually that's a good one. Excessive—
• 52:16
Luke: so here's the list of meanings.
• 52:18
  Matt: That's a good one.
• 52:19
Luke: Excessive self-importance, vanity, or ego, often considered the root and most serious of all sins. But yeah, he, he's ticking a lot of boxes there.
• 52:28
Matt: Probably give him sloth as well, if we're being frank. All right, you know what, sure.
• 52:38
Luke: No, I'm— I think it is going to be your—
• 52:39
Matt: find a way to twist it into a— have you found out you've been given an award for uh, for Pride, he'd think that was nice. Yeah, he would. So yep, or just America. Just America.
• 52:52
Luke: We're gonna give you the award for Pride. Yeah, from the Seven Deadly Sins.
• 52:56
Matt: All right, all right. And the last one is Lust. Yes, I think, uh, I think I've got down here— there's a lot of, uh, lust out there for things like you know, the Steam Machine and, uh, the Commodore flip phone we talked about. Kind of hardware lust, a lust for a, a bygone era. Uh, I'm kind of just riffing here.
• 53:22
  Luke: Yeah.
• 53:23
Matt: Um, like the nostalgia lust is a big thing right now. You know, we've got the Ocarina of Time remake coming out. People lust for, for a simpler time, I think.
• 53:34
  Luke: Simple time. Yes.
• 53:35
Matt: Oh, freaking Camp Snap cameras. You seen those? They're pretty cool, to be honest.
• 53:39
  Luke: I want one, actually.
• 53:41
Matt: Yeah, I know. I've watched videos. We could do a little diversion on this, right? I know, right, for the price that it's shit and that my phone can do that times a million, right? But just capturing something in the moment, and it's a little thing and it doesn't have a screen, and you take the photo and it's, it's almost like I'm like, I get it. And then you can throw all the facts at me you want. You have to make the sensor garbage. It's, you know, the components are worth $20 or whatever. Yeah, fine, but I, I get it and I want one.
• 54:14
Luke: So I think this is one that we can maybe give to everyone that we lust for that simpler time where things were just easier, when you owned your stuff on disc, you know, and you just watched it, you know. People weren't walking around the streets listening to loud phone calls or loud music on their phones.
• 54:33
Matt: I, I know this is not a unique take, but like, speakerphone in public? What are you doing?
• 54:42
Luke: Rude thing you can do.
• 54:44
Matt: Off. I can't stand it. Drives me nuts.
• 54:47
Luke: And same with people like listening to loud music and stuff. Yes, like there are other people around and yeah.
• 54:53
Matt: And they make AirPods and they're great. AirPods are great. Put them in your fucking ear, mate.
• 54:58
Luke: Look, the only time you should be able to use speakerphone is if you're at work or home and you've got a couple on this side and you want to talk to someone and you all want to talk at the same time.
• 55:10
Matt: That's the problem is people here driving along will be like, I'm on speakerphone. Yeah, anyway. Yeah.
• 55:15
Luke: Um, yeah, like, no, that's not— that's not what that means.
• 55:19
Matt: Do you know they made using your phone while you're driving illegal while— since I've been here in Rhode Island. It was not illegal when I moved here, and then when they made it illegal, people were like, you know, you can't use your phone when you drive anymore. And I was like, you were allowed to? Yeah, too. Don't do that, it's fucking dangerous.
• 55:35
Luke: Yeah, a lot of times I was there, I was talking to an Uber driver, he's saying like, yeah, like it's a new thing that they're bringing in, and that yeah, we're going to be careful now because the fine's going to be big.
• 55:43
  Matt: And yeah, good.
• 55:44
Luke: No, you— no, the fine should be big because you shouldn't be doing it. There's a cradle that you can use and it's fine. You shouldn't have to pick your phone up and look at it like this.
• 55:54
Matt: Yes, put your fucking phone down like you're driving a car. It's dangerous.
• 56:00
Luke: But I'll never understand how people can do that.
• 56:03
Matt: All right, so we're giving lust to everybody, all of us.
• 56:08
  Luke: Yeah, yeah.
• 56:09
Matt: All right, now penance. I just want to wrap up. What do we do, Luke? How do we absolve ourselves of these sins? What does Chris Roberts do? What does, what does Donald Trump do? All right, what do we do?
• 56:23
Luke: Penance. Yeah, this, all you need to do, and I guarantee you this will get rid of all your sins, you go to patreon.com/multiplenergasm, and for as little as $1 a month you get the show early. For $5 a month, you get all your sins wiped and you get the after-party, which we'll be going to shortly.
• 56:48
Matt: I'm gonna add it on the Patreon. You will be absolved of your sin, and I'll link to this segment so you can understand what the fuck that's about. Yep, brilliant. All right, so that's my, uh, that's my 7 deadly sins.
• 57:01
  Luke: Uh, I like that.
• 57:04
Matt: Yeah. Good discussion. Thank you.
• 57:07
Luke: Do this every October, I think. Okay, just— yeah, okay, keep a list of— all right, that'll be our October Halloween.
• 57:14
Matt: I'm gonna write that down because we will forget.
• 57:16
  Luke: We will forget.
• 57:17
Matt: So, and you know what, I'm gonna— I'm not gonna write it down there, I'm gonna write it down here in this thing that is persistent.
• 57:22
Luke: All right, but I think that could be quite a fun thing. Yes.
• 57:25
Matt: All right, 7 deadly sins. Oh my God, I can't type, it's too early. All right, I'll understand what that means.
• 57:35
Luke: And then also what we can do for the next year's one as well, because we're going to remember, we'll also put it out to the audience in the lead-up to give us their— yes, ideas.
• 57:43
Matt: Yeah, we need to do more of that actually. Yeah, go to the Discord actually. And you know what too, um, go to the website, right? I've updated the website quite a bit over the last couple weeks. Um, oh yeah, there's a new thing on the website. We should talk about this, right? Have you seen this yet, Luke?
• 57:57
Luke: No, I'm about to log on right now.
• 57:58
Matt: Go to the website, right? Go to multiplenerdgasm.com. All right, I used the power of, of AI while it's still available to me before it gets too much, right? I want you to go to multiplenorgasm.com and I want you to click on topics and then scroll, and then, uh, you can click on some of those.
• 58:18
Luke: Oh my God, and this is just going through to let us know how many times we've done it and in what.
• 58:25
Matt: So how many times have we talked about Red Dead Redemption 2? According to this, 15. And if you click, you can listen to every episode that we talked about it. And then also, you know what I did too, is I fed the transcripts in and now they've all got chapters, so you can go to when we talked about it in the episode too. Isn't that sick?
• 58:44
Luke: This is great. Yeah, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, 18 times.
• 58:48
Matt: Oh yeah, the Star Wars stuff too. That's it. There's a lot of Star Wars Actually, one of the things it says, the cast up with thing I made, that was like— I made it so it's like provide hints on like, you know, is there a topic we haven't touched in a while? It's Star Wars. We don't talk about Star Wars much anymore because we finally got burned out on it, I guess.
• 59:09
Luke: Like, there's also hasn't been much in the news lately, but if you look at the Star Wars part of it, we're discussing a lot. Yeah, I think, uh, next year, I think from February, and then we've got in May there's the news Starfighter One. So we'll probably start discussing it more then.
• 59:25
Matt: Yeah. All right, well, yeah, so, uh, that's a fun thing that's on the website now. And then also from the website, the thing I was going to say is that, um, you can join the Discord from the website, right? Ah, because, because we give that to— for free on the Patreon, right?
• 59:39
  Luke: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 59:41
Matt: If you're not comfortable with that, that's fine. Just go to the website, click join the Discord, you can join the Discord and you can talk to us in there.
• 59:47
  Luke: Yep.
• 59:47
Matt: Right, if you don't want to You don't want to sign up on Patreon, that's fine. We just want people to participate.
• 59:53
Luke: I respond faster to that than I do to our chats.
• 59:56
Matt: Yeah, yeah. I woke up late this morning and I felt bad, so I messaged Luke. He didn't reply for ages. No, gave me plenty of time. I made a coffee. I was like, I don't even know if he's still awake because daylight saving happened in Australia. He could be dead for all I know.
• 1:00:10
  Luke: Yeah, could have been.
• 1:00:12
  Matt: You weren't, thank goodness.
• 1:00:13
Luke: Oh, when does daylight saving start for you?
• 1:00:16
Matt: That is a good question. Um, November.
• 1:00:20
  Luke: November.
• 1:00:21
Matt: Saving America. Uh, November 1st.
• 1:00:26
Luke: November 1st. Okay, we've got a month.
• 1:00:29
Matt: Yeah, we need to figure that out. I mean, listeners don't need to worry about this.
• 1:00:31
Luke: No, but, uh, because we'll be here.
• 1:00:33
Matt: We're in— we're on opposite sides of the globe, in case anybody hasn't figured that out, which does make it a bit difficult because today Matt's just woken up.
• 1:00:42
Luke: Yep. And I'm getting ready for bed.
• 1:00:44
Matt: Yep, yep. That's why we don't play games together anymore.
• 1:00:48
  Luke: No.
• 1:00:48
Matt: Oh, before we go, I need to ask you if you've played Dune.
• 1:00:52
Luke: I haven't because I've just been going on an achievement hunter, but I still— I've got it installed. I'm ready to go.
• 1:00:58
Matt: Okay. All right, cool. Yeah, because I dip back in, you know, because I've got to keep my, um, my base operational. I dip back in and, and part of me is like, I wish I could transfer to like a single-player thing or transfer my base to, uh, you know, like if we were to get a server, you know, and then, you know, we could have people play or whatever with us, even though that never seems to last.
• 1:01:20
Luke: Um, we get super excited and then we forget it's there.
• 1:01:24
Matt: Do we still have a Minecraft Realm?
• 1:01:26
Luke: Yes, I'll remind you. I need to log into that to see what people have done.
• 1:01:29
Matt: Oh yeah, same. Yeah, we should do that. I know we did. You know what we need to do? We need to schedule time to do it.
• 1:01:34
  Luke: We need to—
• 1:01:35
Matt: we need to schedule it, otherwise it's not gonna happen.
• 1:01:37
Luke: Gonna let AI sort my life out.
• 1:01:39
Matt: Because remember back when we didn't used to schedule this show?
• 1:01:42
  Luke: And it was just—
• 1:01:43
Matt: and it just fucking happened when it happened, and it was like sporadic as hell for a year.
• 1:01:47
  Luke: Yes.
• 1:01:48
  Matt: Now every week, mate.
• 1:01:50
  Luke: Every week.
• 1:01:51
  Matt: Unless we can—
• 1:01:52
Luke: unless— yeah, there will be times like next week. Next week should be fine, but we'll see. All right, because next week is PAX.
• 1:02:00
Matt: Oh, Australia. Oh no, well, yeah, we can, we can figure that out, but it's up to you.
• 1:02:07
Luke: Yeah, yeah, it's going to be how I, how I'm feeling, if I'm still playing games, how drunk I am.
• 1:02:11
Matt: Yeah, you're gonna be hopped up on oysters.
• 1:02:13
Luke: Yes. So we'll see. I want to because I want to give an update there, but if not, my update for PAX Aus will be the week after where I talk about all the cool stuff I saw.
• 1:02:22
