- 0:00Speaker 1: Bump bum.
- 0:00Speaker 2: I'm intrigued by this list that you have here. All right,
- 0:03Speaker 2: let me get this going.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Please.
- 0:06Speaker 4: It's Radio from Hell with another list because people love
- 0:10Speaker 4: a good list at ninety six.
- 0:13Speaker 3: So read that title again.
- 0:15Speaker 5: It's a list of nonsense things that we just accept.
- 0:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Now I'm curious to find out if I in fact
- 0:24Speaker 2: accept these things.
- 0:25Speaker 5: It says absolutely bonkers things that we've decided to accept
- 0:29Speaker 5: as normal in our society.
- 0:32Speaker 6: Sure, bonkers is a strong word.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Okay, I'll be honest about it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Let's see. Okay, here we go.
- 0:40Speaker 5: First of all, Number one on the list, commercials everywhere. Yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 5: I felt this so hard. On my last road trip.
- 0:49Speaker 5: We were at every gas station now has.
- 0:51Speaker 1: An ad blaring in your ear.
- 0:53Speaker 5: I can't even have two minutes just to stand there
- 0:56Speaker 5: in silence and enjoy not driving without some bs trying
- 0:59Speaker 5: to sell me something.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'll honestly, these things like that continually bother me. Yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 2: you know it's the way I don't accept them. I mean,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I don't have any choice, but they're there, But they're
- 1:10Speaker 2: they're they're just in your in your face all the time.
- 1:13Speaker 4: I was just thinking last night, we have a smart
- 1:15Speaker 4: TV that the second you turn it on. Is just
- 1:18Speaker 4: a rotating banner of ads, you know, it programmed into
- 1:22Speaker 4: the TV itself. Wow, and some of the audio mixing
- 1:25Speaker 4: is terrible, so it'll I'm worried it'll blow out the
- 1:28Speaker 4: speakers on our TV.
- 1:31Speaker 5: Shrink Flation okay, paying the same price for less product
- 1:35Speaker 5: and companies pretending we won't notice that is bonkers. Subscriptions
- 1:40Speaker 5: for everything. Remember the time that BMW tried to introduce
- 1:45Speaker 5: a heat seat. Heated seat subscription. But yeah, think about it.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Subscriptions for everything. You don't just buy a It's like
- 1:53Speaker 5: these computer programs here.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We don't own these.
- 1:56Speaker 4: No, we have to subscribe, subscribe, subscribe.
- 2:00Speaker 5: But yeah, let's see health insurance tied to work.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Yeah, well, this list sounds pretty woke to me from
- 2:11Speaker 4: the way you describing it gets.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Pretty well toward the end health insurance period. What is
- 2:17Speaker 5: it that they actually provide? They're like the mob, just
- 2:20Speaker 5: taking their cut.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Well, I got a few buys medians health insurance.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I mean, you need health insurance. Companies are pretty awful,
- 2:29Speaker 3: but you.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Do need some sort of Yeah, I would the government, Yeah, yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you would think it wouldn't be a for profit business
- 2:37Speaker 2: though that's.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Probably their point.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Yeah, each company has its own app. What the hell
- 2:42Speaker 5: is going on? My smartphone doesn't have that much screen space.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Yeah, just keep it on a browser.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I recently thrifted a cooking thermometer for soap making. I
- 2:52Speaker 5: needed to download the app to use the thermometer.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Stuff like that drives me insane. I become my dad.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I just yell at the.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Here's one that I've been shouting about. Uh huh, not
- 3:07Speaker 5: owning anything anymore. Buying movies on your Internet box but
- 3:12Speaker 5: losing them if you move, paying for a series, but
- 3:16Speaker 5: letting them disappear from the service without any reason. That
- 3:21Speaker 5: ties into the subscription thing, Like you're not owning anything exactly.
- 3:26Speaker 5: I mean leasing your car, your phones. You're probably maybe
- 3:30Speaker 5: even doing that.
- 3:31Speaker 1: With right your homes.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I have a whole you know, video game catalog in Steam,
- 3:38Speaker 4: who arguably do it the best. But if they just
- 3:40Speaker 4: went down one day, I wouldn't own the video game
- 3:43Speaker 4: account I've had for fifteen years.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Like, well, it's like we wanted to watch Young Frankenstein. Yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 5: and I thought I had it saved on our hard
- 3:52Speaker 5: drive on the TV, but it went away. I have
- 3:57Speaker 5: the Blu Ray, so I grabbed that both of our
- 4:01Speaker 5: Blu Ray players were broken.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Right, Oh my god.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Ah, now we could rent it for three ninety nine.
- 4:08Speaker 5: But it was just at that point it just became
- 4:10Speaker 5: the principle of the thing in physical media.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Man, it's a big deal.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You know. I don't know.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I vacillate on that because it's like books. For instance,
- 4:20Speaker 2: I have too many books, books, book So I've started
- 4:23Speaker 2: I've started putting stuff that I want to read on
- 4:26Speaker 2: a kindle, sure, because I have too damn many books.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And I like the books, I love them, but there's
- 4:33Speaker 2: just too much. It's too much.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Credit bureaus Okay, they're basically unregulated. You don't get a
- 4:42Speaker 5: choice when it comes to participating, and they have massive
- 4:44Speaker 5: data leaks with zero consequences.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Oh yeah, remember the huge what was it? Fiko had
- 4:50Speaker 6: to pay out a huge sentiment a couple of years
- 4:52Speaker 6: back because just they gave out your social security.
- 4:56Speaker 1: No, this one's a little more light.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:58Speaker 5: One chicken wing split up and sold as too what
- 5:04Speaker 5: what like the drum and the a chicken? A chicken
- 5:07Speaker 5: wing has three segments, and yes, I'm going to nibble
- 5:09Speaker 5: on that tiny piece of meat off the wing tip.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That's the elbow.
- 5:12Speaker 6: No, no, no, I disagree.
- 5:14Speaker 2: No, I agree. I like that because it's real. It
- 5:18Speaker 2: gets real crispy and you can just eat it, eat
- 5:20Speaker 2: the bone.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Have you ever carved up wings yourself, taken the like
- 5:25Speaker 4: raw wing and cut it in the you have? Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 4: and you still agree with that statement.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It's a pain in the body.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Here's one. This confirms that the list as woke.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 5: A forty hour work week, there's no reason at all
- 5:40Speaker 5: that it should be the standard. Thirty two hours is
- 5:43Speaker 5: more than enough most of the time.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Let's see, I think we should have a four day
- 5:49Speaker 1: work week.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Bad driving, road deaths and injuries. I was going to say,
- 5:55Speaker 5: car culture. It's incredibly dangerous, incredibly expensive, and incredibly bad
- 5:59Speaker 5: for the planet.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Everyone has just accepted that this is.
- 6:01Speaker 5: How we get around, and we'll design our cities around
- 6:04Speaker 5: them without caring about the impacts.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And it's like it's too late to do anything about it.
- 6:11Speaker 4: I know that one's been going on for decades, though,
- 6:14Speaker 4: I feel like that one's a bit of a stretch
- 6:16Speaker 4: for the list.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Turning over our personal details, reading habits, subjects of interests,
- 6:22Speaker 5: and attention triggers to a bunch of emotionally stunted sociopaths
- 6:27Speaker 5: so they can monetize our behavior and become billionaires while
- 6:31Speaker 5: we watch cat videos and fight about politics with distant relatives.
- 6:35Speaker 3: That's no way to talk about, mister Zuckerberg.
- 6:39Speaker 1: And here's here's a good one.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Huh.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Being available at all times, whether it's for work or
- 6:46Speaker 5: just for people in your life. I miss going out
- 6:48Speaker 5: and just being gone for a few hours without people
- 6:51Speaker 5: texting or calling.
- 6:53Speaker 3: You can do it.
- 6:54Speaker 6: That is a phone bad like type of comment, but
- 6:57Speaker 6: I agree with it.
- 6:59Speaker 4: We've hope you enjoyed another list with Radio from Hell
- 7:03Speaker 4: on X ninety six.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Now there's more on that list, but we're out of time.
