- 2:06talking to our friend Memphis Grizzlies play by play
- 2:10broadcaster Eric Haseltine. Eric, what's up, buddy?
- 2:15You like that? Well, you asked if I'm doing
- 2:17anything crazy. Yeah, I'm doing something crazy.
- 2:18I'm sitting, I'm sitting in a car in Memphis.
- 2:21Do you know our carjacking rates?
- 2:22So you see somebody roll up to my window.
- 2:24Just give me a heads up. A little delayed dad taxi stuff
- 2:28tonight. I was trying to get back to the
- 2:30to the house, but on my way now. So that's.
- 2:32That's fine. And we want to apologize.
- 2:34I know you're a busy guy and we just, we're just happy that
- 2:37you're, I just, we're happy that you're joining us because I know
- 2:40you're a busy guy. But guess what?
- 2:41The season is over and you don't have to watch that debacle as
- 2:46we've watched throughout the season.
- 2:48The Memphis Grizzlies go up and down.
- 2:50I am a big John Moran fan and I want to get into the John Moran
- 2:53story. Your thoughts to John Moran's
- 2:56season this year, coming back from all the accolades and then
- 3:01during the season, I mean at the end of the season, the shooting
- 3:05up in the air with his hand gestures.
- 3:07What are what? What are your thoughts to John
- 3:10Moran's season 1 and what are your thoughts to John Moran
- 3:14doing the things that he did off set as well?
- 3:18Well, I think when you start with the season, you have to go
- 3:20back to that. He tore his labrum last year,
- 3:22and so I felt like he came back early.
- 3:26Now, obviously medical personnel will tell you whether he's good
- 3:31to go or not, and he'll tell you whether he's good to go.
- 3:33But if you ask a pro athlete that should wants to be a star,
- 3:36they're going to want to play any chance they get.
- 3:38So his shot just didn't look the same.
- 3:41And you know, the shoulder soreness and then it really kind
- 3:45of unraveled. You got frustrated fans, you got
- 3:48a lot of people chattering in social media.
- 3:50And I thought some of it it it appeared to get to him.
- 3:53And so there was some frustration, a new offense, a
- 3:57change in the assistant coaches. And one of the guys that left
- 4:01was his workout guy. And I equated it like this guys.
- 4:06And I've said this, I'm not afraid to say it.
- 4:08It's nothing against the guy that took the the departed
- 4:10coach's place. But when I watched him work out
- 4:13with the guy that left, whose name was Blake Ahern or is Blake
- 4:17Ahern, he looked like he was having fun.
- 4:19When I watched him with the new guy, it looked like he was just
- 4:21doing it because he had to. I equated it to a kid getting an
- 4:25ice cream cone to a kid getting a stick of broccoli.
- 4:28It just didn't look the same. And so you switch the offense,
- 4:33now you're all five out. It's more ball movement and and
- 4:37last one guy dominating the the possession.
- 4:40You drafted a 7 three, £300 center to set screens for a guy
- 4:44and now you're literally not setting any screens.
- 4:47So I think there was some frustration.
- 4:50I think the coaching staff was put in a really difficult place
- 4:54by deciding to change the assistant coaches, even though
- 4:57the head coach didn't seemingly want to do that.
- 5:00But he went along with it and then everybody questioned and
- 5:03whether or not the sitting that coach was a sitting duck, which
- 5:06he turned out to be when they fired him with 9 games left.
- 5:08And you know, that's the front office's decision to make.
- 5:10But when your star player isn't down with it, you got a problem.
- 5:14Now with the other antics that you're talking about, I just my
- 5:19belief is this, look, it's never a right to be a professional
- 5:23athlete. It's a privilege.
- 5:24You've earned that privilege with God-given talent.
- 5:27But the league can still tell you, hey, these are our rules,
- 5:30whether you like them or not. You can choose to break them.
- 5:32That's fine. But there are penalties.
- 5:33And so I'm not saying that Josh shouldn't do the things he wants
- 5:37to do. But if you do something they
- 5:39tell you to stop doing, then be prepared for the consequences.
- 5:43And I don't think, obviously, that this is, you know, a
- 5:48situation where other guys don't make the same gestures because
- 5:51they do. But other guys weren't suspended
- 5:53twice for brandishing a firearm on social media.
- 5:57And so there's got to be some sort of awareness with that.
- 6:00Now, the way I saw it just from my eyes was the first time he
- 6:04did it and the Warriors complained about it.
- 6:07My my guess is, and I'm not Privy, I'm just totally guessing
- 6:10that they probably had got a phone call and said, Hey, stop
- 6:13pointing your fingers at your opponents.
- 6:15So the next game he pointed them at Scottie Pippen junior every
- 6:19play and that's his teammate. So he's like, all right, I did
- 6:22exactly what you said. I didn't point them at my
- 6:25opponent. I pointed them at my teammate.
- 6:27And then reportedly there was a, a, a warning saying if you do it
- 6:30again, then you know, there's going to be consequences.
- 6:33So after that he got fined. And then he went to the I'm
- 6:37throwing word bombs and doing the grenade thing, which
- 6:40everybody kind of chuckled at. And you see his influence
- 6:42because you got kids now doing that in, you know, AAU ball.
- 6:46They just had a big Nike EYBL tournament here.
- 6:49I can't tell you how many text messages I got from people at
- 6:52the event going this kid just did the jaw word bomb and I'm
- 6:55like, OK, great. You know what?
- 6:56It's summertime. We got swept.
- 6:58I'm doing something else. I don't care, but I think the
- 7:01guy showed at times. Again, he's one of the most
- 7:04talented players in the league. I think he has an opportunity to
- 7:08earn that back. He said all the right things at
- 7:11the end of the year about the new coach to Omassi Salo.
- 7:14He seems to really get along with them.
- 7:16They're going to bring Zach Eadie out to Summer League.
- 7:18They made that announcement to get him to understand the
- 7:20offense and if Zach understands the offense, that gives him
- 7:24someone in that role that Steven Adams played for years, which
- 7:28allowed JA to really get downhill and and breakdown
- 7:32defenses. And that just wasn't happening
- 7:34last year. Now, they played fast, they
- 7:37scored a ton of points and it was a different system.
- 7:40But the one thing I think you guys would understand and and
- 7:43and know about is when you throw something different at a league,
- 7:46it takes them a minute to catch up.
- 7:48But about game 40, when teams had read the seen the tape and
- 7:51seen what the offense was doing and the Warriors were the first
- 7:54team to kind of write the game plan.
- 7:56We saw nothing but shell zone defense and nobody protecting
- 8:00the middle because the Grizzlies weren't going to attack the
- 8:02middle. They never did.
- 8:03And they weren't going to be in the paint.
- 8:05They were going to be on the perimeter.
- 8:06They might get Jaron Jackson to score up a big that he could
- 8:09overpower, but other than that, it was pass, pass, Chuck it up
- 8:13from beyond the line or get all the way to the rim on a on a
- 8:16breakaway. So teams figured it out out.
- 8:19And when they figured it out, the offense kind of stagnated.
- 8:22And then they got to the second-half of their schedule,
- 8:24which was loaded with playoff teams and they did not produce
- 8:28victories. And so despite the fact they won
- 8:3048 games, made the playoffs at one point, this was the number
- 8:34two team in the West. And I vividly remember a night
- 8:37where they were playing Oklahoma City.
- 8:39We're like, OK, here's your test.
- 8:40This is clearly the best team in the West.
- 8:42You're right now in the two spot.
- 8:44Where do you stand? And a 23 point loss later, he
- 8:47went, uh oh, maybe this to some of this fattening up on the bad
- 8:51teams that you saw early in the schedule and teams that aren't
- 8:54going to be in the playoff picture.
- 8:56And then they go play a really, really good game, but make a
- 8:59mistake and still find a way to win.
- 9:01And you all right, You beat the Timberwolves twice and you could
- 9:05have beaten the Rockets two out of the three losses that you
- 9:08had. And you threw a game away here,
- 9:11but you're blowing out these other teams.
- 9:14But after the All Star break, I think the team that kind of got
- 9:16them is now the team that's making the most noise in the NBA
- 9:19and it's Indiana. They put a 50 point third
- 9:21quarter on them and we all kind of looked at each other and
- 9:23went, well, that escalated in a hurry, fellas.
- 9:26And the second-half after that was kind of just a, it was a
- 9:30rough go to say the. Least Eric, why are you?
- 9:32Why are you trying to hurt our feelings?
- 9:34You you had to bring up the Pacers.
- 9:36You had to bring up the IT it we were we were good, me and you
- 9:40were good. And then you had to bring up the
- 9:42Indiana Pacers and piss me off. Yeah, well, you can blame us for
- 9:45giving them confidence, I guess. You look.
- 9:47Don't foul, Don't foul. Up three with 14 seconds.
- 9:50Let him take the shot. Dude, that was the luckiest role
- 9:54I've ever seen a player have in a playoff game.
- 9:58I mean, that went up, that hit off the back of the rim and went
- 10:0115 feet in the air and went right in.
- 10:04It spun right into the rim. I mean, what are the chances
- 10:07that happening? Very little but like this is the
- 10:11third time they've seemed to do something like this, but I just
- 10:14thought Thibodeau made a mistake fouling that early.
- 10:16So and again and because you're basically putting all the
- 10:20pressure on your free throw shooter 6 seconds, I'm all for
- 10:23it. 14 I went little early. Just let the guy take an off
- 10:26balance 3 and get the possession, give it the Brunson.
- 10:28But I'm not an NBA coach. So it's look, our season ended
- 10:32in a 40 sweep. So who am I to say anything to?
- 10:36What the hell do I know? Well, you've been the Grizzlies
- 10:39play by play guy for a long time, so you know something
- 10:42obviously or they wouldn't be keeping you in that position.
- 10:45I know. I'm old, I know I'm old, and
- 10:48I've seen a lot of crappy basketball over the.
- 10:50Hold on, Eric. How old are you?
- 10:52How old are you? 907, No 50.
- 10:55You're 52, so you're only, what, You're nine years older than me.
- 10:59You're not that old, Eric. Stop making yourself older than
- 11:01you should, because then you're making me as ancient as you, OK?
- 11:05Please, I'm still I'm. I'm still dating 35 and under.
- 11:08I'm good. There you go.
- 11:09That's what I'm talking about, Eric.
- 11:11He's a sugar daddy. Yeah, I'll be whatever they want
- 11:16me to be. As long as they as long as they
- 11:18come home, we're good. Good for you, Eric.
- 11:22I've never met you, but I already like you.
- 11:24That's fantastic. So, Eric, what?
- 11:28Kind of laugh, is that? What are you, a crow with
- 11:30something? What the hell is that?
- 11:33Go ahead, Speedy, spit it. Out All right so another guy
- 11:36that's making headlines is the guy that I used to be with your
- 11:38team, Dylan Brooks and Draymond Green definitely feuding.
- 11:41We've seen Dylan Brooks feuding with a bunch of other guys.
- 11:44What is your thoughts of the whole rivalry with the two of
- 11:46them? Were both when he was at Memphis
- 11:47with you and now seeing it in this postseason?
- 11:50Oh gosh, you know, look, I, I got along with Dylan.
- 11:54Dylan's a different dude. He's that guy that when you see
- 11:57him outside the gym, you're cool, everything's fine.
- 12:01You see him in the gym, this guy would walk by you and not even
- 12:05like blink the I, I don't even think he saw anybody around him
- 12:08when he got to the arena. And I thought he embraced that
- 12:12Dylan, the villain role, but maybe took it too far.
- 12:15I love the way he played, but when Dylan Brooks tried to be
- 12:19more than Dylan Brooks was when the Grizzlies kind of had
- 12:22issues. And it was a wild stat when he
- 12:24was here when he scored 20 or more points, like the Grizzlies
- 12:28were like 20-3 and four. But the only times he scored 20
- 12:32points was when he took less than 15 shots.
- 12:35And that doesn't make sense. He like this doesn't add up.
- 12:38So he would be trying to get to 20 and failing and taking bad
- 12:43shots. Now, when those two teams met,
- 12:46there was some rivalry there. And then Dylan, look, in the
- 12:49heat of the moment, he made a bad decision.
- 12:52He was not going to block Gary Payton's shot on a breakaway.
- 12:55I remember vividly watching him go up and going, what are you
- 12:59doing? Because Gary Payton has what
- 13:02they call the bounce, as you guys know.
- 13:04And Dylan is not that bouncy. And when he was a step behind,
- 13:09it's kind of one of those ones. You want to foul him, fine.
- 13:12But you don't try to go up hard. And Peyton Falls, breaks his
- 13:16wrists. And, of course, the next thing I
- 13:19know, I'm walking through San Francisco before game three, and
- 13:23everybody's driving by me going, hey, man, you're #1 except it's
- 13:26not #1 it's the middle finger salute.
- 13:27And I'm like, oh, I go, oh, I get it.
- 13:31I got a Grizzly shirt on. I forgot not to put this on this
- 13:33morning. Like, we literally were warned
- 13:36when we went out there for Game 3 and that series, Like, hey,
- 13:38you might not want to wear the team gear around the city.
- 13:41And I was like, what are you talking about?
- 13:42It's San Francisco. Nobody cares.
- 13:44Yeah, turns out they do, because we could walk to our hotel from
- 13:48the arena and I, it was beautiful out.
- 13:50And I'm like, all right, I'll just walk back and I'm here.
- 13:52I'm like, hey, yo, buddy. And I'm like, what are you, what
- 13:54are you talking to? Like, why are you yelling at me?
- 13:56I, I grew, I grew up out here. I'm like, nobody does this.
- 14:00I'm not, I'm not in New York where I expect that stuff and I
- 14:03I respect it. But you know, then Draymond, I
- 14:07thought really, he really kind of stoked it all up when he
- 14:11said, look, if the Grizzlies, if the Grizzlies are relying, I
- 14:14think the quote was if the Grizzlies are relying on this
- 14:16idiot to give them a championship, there's not going
- 14:19to be a parade in their city ever.
- 14:21And that was the whole big John Moran, there's going to a parade
- 14:24in my city thing he was playing off of.
- 14:26And Dylan took that to heart. And then he did it with LeBron.
- 14:29He did it with Steph. And you know, he just gets under
- 14:33your skin. But the one thing I will give
- 14:35the guy a ton of credit for is he's a hell of a defender.
- 14:37And I think in a lot of ways, nobody will admit it.
- 14:41He's got a lot of respect for the way Draymond plays.
- 14:44Draymond plays physical. He plays tough.
- 14:46He goes at officials. I mean, I laughed when Nicola
- 14:49Yokich got thrown out of a game and they said we'll use
- 14:51profanity at an official. And I said that's how Draymond
- 14:54Green addresses you guys. How does he?
- 14:57Stand. And he doesn't call you by your
- 14:59name. He's like hey dude, like it's
- 15:01hey MF hurt like and that's what he calls you.
- 15:03And but they understand that. And I'll tell you, like, I had a
- 15:07conversation with an official outside the arena.
- 15:10We just ran into each other, goes, hey, tell Dylan 30 seconds
- 15:13into the game, he doesn't need to be complaining about every
- 15:16call. And I was like, you know, you
- 15:18know Dylan. And he goes, yeah, we all know
- 15:20Dylan. I went, OK, that'll be fun.
- 15:22So I like that rivalry with them.
- 15:25I think there there's more room in our game for dislike.
- 15:31I mean, your Jabba will tell you.
- 15:33I'm sure when you played the Red Sox, you didn't exactly want to
- 15:37go over and, like, give them pro hugs.
- 15:39If they, you know, were yapping, they were going to get one in
- 15:41the ear hole. And, you know, back in the day,
- 15:44if you came across the lane, like, you know, I've become
- 15:46friends with Rick Mahorn, he'll tell you the same thing.
- 15:49He working for the Pistons. He's like, if you came in the
- 15:51lane and I set a screen and you kept coming, I was going to let
- 15:54you know, like, I'm going to hit you.
- 15:57You're not you're not going to not feel me.
- 15:59And I think there's there's room for more of that in the league.
- 16:02This year allowed guys to be more physical and some guys
- 16:05couldn't take it. And Dylan was embracing that to
- 16:08the point where I was like, yo, man, that like when he did it,
- 16:10like Desmond Bain, I'm like, that was your best friend here.
- 16:13Why are you like knocking him to the floor?
- 16:15And I'm like, wait, you're not on the same team when the ball
- 16:18goes in the air. I don't want you to be my
- 16:20friend. I want to kick your butt.
- 16:21And I respect that about him. Eric, I, I love that you brought
- 16:25that up because I, I wanted to ask you a question because we
- 16:28see it from afar. You see it up front for you and
- 16:32like obviously dealing with commentary and, and all the
- 16:35other stuff. Like when you see things and you
- 16:37have these interactions and you see it on the court.
- 16:42Do you think there needs to be more guys that embrace that?
- 16:46Like, hey, you're in the league. I'm going to give you what you
- 16:49need. And do you think that JA at the
- 16:53same time is kind of like he's in between that because he's
- 16:57like, I'm going to be me and I'm going to do my thing, Or do you
- 17:02think he needs to kind of take a step back and be like, just
- 17:05understand the game and and how good he is?
- 17:10You know, I think for JA, it all happened so fast.
- 17:16It's one of those rocket ships to stardom situations where, you
- 17:22know, you come from Murray State, you burst on the scene,
- 17:25you have an amazing NCAA tournament.
- 17:28All the sudden you're going to be at an NBA lottery pick in a
- 17:31very small town and the the bright lights are there.
- 17:37I think you let people be who they can be.
- 17:39I've always said this about a professional athlete.
- 17:41Look, if I, if I had the God-given ability to play any
- 17:46professional sport, you give me my pick, whether it's shortstop
- 17:49for the Yankees, quarterback for my favorite team, the Packers,
- 17:52or any NFL team. And I'm, I'm 24 years old and
- 17:58I've got millions of dollars in my pocket or I'm a point guard
- 18:01for the Lakers and every girl in the building wants my number and
- 18:06wants to talk to me. And, and with social media,
- 18:08they're coming at you from 9 million different directors.
- 18:11Hey, go live your life. Be a 24 year old stud, have a
- 18:15blast. Do your thing until it affects
- 18:18your play on the court. You know, when JA got named to
- 18:21the All Star team, you got people coming out of the
- 18:23woodwork. And that's part of the downfall
- 18:25of social media. These guys are making a pile of
- 18:27money from the exposure, but they also are subject to all the
- 18:31criticism. Well, JA gets on the plane.
- 18:33I mean, he's celebrating his first All Star appearance,
- 18:35breaks out the bottle of Patrone.
- 18:38He's taking a hit of it. His dad's taking a hit of it.
- 18:40He tries to hand it to a security guard who I'm very good
- 18:43friends with. And he could say I'm on the job.
- 18:45And he's like, not on the plane, you're not.
- 18:47And but I know his security guard doesn't drink.
- 18:50And everybody's like, come on, man, you're a role model for
- 18:52kids. You can't drink tequila out of
- 18:54the bottle. And I'm like, why not?
- 18:56He's he's of legal drinking age. He's not operating a car.
- 19:00He's flying to the All Star game.
- 19:02It's not like he has a game tomorrow.
- 19:04Let him celebrate. But if you take it too far and
- 19:07now you're doing things that are putting yourselves in harm's
- 19:10way, like be yourself to a point where you're not endangering
- 19:13yourself. And I'm not going to sugarcoat
- 19:15the way things are in Memphis right now.
- 19:17Guys, it's rough. I mean, they're sending 1500 FBI
- 19:21agents here to try to help clean it up because the crime rate is
- 19:25not good. The violent crime rate is not
- 19:28good. I mean, we had 3500 cars stolen
- 19:32in a year. Do the math.
- 19:33That's a lot every day. And people here are just in
- 19:38that, hey, we're a blue collar grinded out city.
- 19:41And there's, there's been a big change since, you know, the
- 19:44pandemic and people are out of work and people are are
- 19:48struggling. And so, you know, there's an
- 19:49easy way to make money. And we all know breaking the law
- 19:52can do that. But when you put yourself in
- 19:55harm's way. And the point I'm bringing up is
- 19:57I know about 75 people that have firearms in their vehicles.
- 20:02They have a license to carry them.
- 20:04They're legal here, but they're not getting on social media and
- 20:07showing that. And they're also not getting on
- 20:09social media with 6,000,000 followers going live.
- 20:12You know, singing to a song and brandishing that after they've
- 20:15been suspended, That's where I go.
- 20:17Yo, you can be yourself. I don't have a problem with it
- 20:21as long as you don't like, put yourself in harm's way.
- 20:24And to me, I always said this, If you feel like you need to
- 20:27bring a gun to the club, you're going to go to a different club.
- 20:31Just go to a different one. Fine.
- 20:32Don't go there. Or if you feel like you need to
- 20:35have that kind of protection or you want to go to the club where
- 20:38all the ladies are, I'm pretty sure you have enough money to
- 20:41rent out the entire floor of the team hotel and bring them to
- 20:45you. And then nobody knows.
- 20:46And then don't turn on the Instagram Live.
- 20:49There's a way to go about it, but I can't tell people how to
- 20:52live their life because if I sat here and told you guys when I
- 20:55was 25 years old, I didn't do dumb stuff all the time, I'd be
- 20:58the biggest liar on the planet. I, I did things that I probably
- 21:01should have gotten in or should have gotten in more trouble for,
- 21:03but I didn't. I got lucky, unfortunately.
- 21:06Now, for an athlete of that magnitude and of that kind of
- 21:10notoriety, you're going to get recognized and you're going to
- 21:13have a target. And now you're, you're talking
- 21:15about being around circles where in this city, and I'm not trying
- 21:19to say we're like the the hardest place on the planet or
- 21:22anything like that, but the that that type of life in this city
- 21:25is very real. And these guys don't care that
- 21:28you're an NBA *. If you go in there and cross the
- 21:31wrong guys, you got problems. And people have kind of made
- 21:34that very clear to him. So you know it's.
- 21:36Be yourself, you know, Don't throw it all.
- 21:39Away. You know, it's crazy you bring
- 21:40up, you said 3500 cars, it's better than 3500 bodies.
- 21:44So I I would say that, but you know I not.
- 21:47Far off there. Either Well, that's probably
- 21:49true too, but you know what's crazy?
- 21:51I got a chance recently to watch the Gilbert arenas 30 for 30 and
- 21:56if nobody not and and I didn't really get a chance to watch
- 21:59that because it's been out for a while, but it's now on Hulu.
- 22:04If anybody has Hulu, get it. If you have a chance to go watch
- 22:07it on the Disney, whatever, the Disney app, it's great for 30.
- 22:11It's sensational. It's also on Netflix as well.
- 22:14It's interesting because I didn't know the story behind it
- 22:17until I got a chance. And I I used to blame Gilbert
- 22:19Arenas for the gun situation and it it kind of was, but it
- 22:24wasn't. And, and the story is with the
- 22:27NBA. The NBA is really taking a, you
- 22:29know, a big, you know, handle on this because of that Gilbert
- 22:33Arenas story. And Gilbert Arenas was only
- 22:35suspended for 50 games. And, and obviously the back end
- 22:39of it is there's an NBA player a part of that story that went to
- 22:42jail for a significant amount of time because he he killed
- 22:46somebody. So because of the whole Gilbert
- 22:48Arena story. So the fact is, is that the NBA
- 22:51is doing the right thing trying to get John Moran to try to
- 22:55clean this thing up before it gets worse and and where he
- 22:59might not have a career or might do something stupid where he
- 23:02could be going to jail for the next 25 to life type of, you
- 23:06know, situation. So it's a it's a terrible, it's
- 23:09a terrible thing that Gilbert Arenas, I mean, Gil, the Gilbert
- 23:12Arena story. But it's even more when you have
- 23:15a young player of this magnitude, John Moran, who is a
- 23:18superstar, one of the biggest electrifying players in the NBA
- 23:22and he can't control his self on the court as well as off the
- 23:25court. As everybody knows.
- 23:27We are talking to Memphis Grizzlies play by play
- 23:30broadcaster Eric Haseltine. Hold on, let me let me give you
- 23:33a side note to that. The, the, the, the documentary
- 23:36shooting guards. Yes, both of those guys were in
- 23:38Memphis at different times. Javares, Crittenden before.
- 23:43We were the team that sent him to Washington and then Gilbert
- 23:47came to us after and. I know that.
- 23:50I was so shocked with the Javares Crittenden story when I
- 23:55had interactions with that guy. Should we we on our broadcast,
- 23:59we stopped doing the before the game.
- 24:01You have, you know, team broadcasters will go, hey, we're
- 24:04talking to let's say, let's say we're interviewing Java before
- 24:06game and it's like, hey, Java, you guys face the Red Sox today.
- 24:10How tough is it to to get Alex or to to get Nomar Garcia para
- 24:15out at that time? And you're like, well, it's
- 24:17hard. He's hitting 347.
- 24:19What do you think? It's easy.
- 24:20I'm just going to throw him a 87 mile an hour cookie fastball.
- 24:23I've got to move the ball in. I got to move it out.
- 24:25I got to change speeds. I got to see where his hitting
- 24:27zone is today. It's the same.
- 24:29It's like, what am I going to say to a guy?
- 24:30What's it like to guard Kobe Bryant?
- 24:32Well, it's hard, dummy. He's he's Kobe Bryant.
- 24:34What do you think? So Javaris and I had some honest
- 24:38conversations. He was really bummed out he
- 24:40didn't get picked by Atlanta that year and they went with HD
- 24:43Law instead of with the second pick.
- 24:45We actually thought they were going to, they were going to
- 24:47take Mike Conley that year. Instead, he fell into our lap.
- 24:50And so Javaris when he was here was nothing but a gentleman was
- 24:54great. I saw no signs of that.
- 24:57And I remember somebody telling me and going, hey, you know,
- 24:59that guy, like when he was in LA was kind of tied to the Crips.
- 25:03And I was like, you're kidding. Like no way.
- 25:05Like that. You just kind of, you don't get
- 25:06that sense from him. He was just super easy going,
- 25:10polished and when you saw the documentary it's like it's
- 25:13because he had nobody there to lean on and these guys made him
- 25:16feel welcome. We get Gilbert after and you
- 25:20know all that prankster stuff you saw in that documentary.
- 25:23He was still had some of that, but it was a lot more guarded
- 25:27and I think he felt responsibility.
- 25:29It was his fault for the. Fact.
- 25:30It was, yeah. For the fact that, you know,
- 25:33he's, he thinks he's being funny, not knowing that Javaris
- 25:37is going like, hey, where I'm from in Atlanta and with my boys
- 25:40that I run in LA, we don't joke around about this stuff.
- 25:44And so I, I just, I'm, I'm watching this documentary and
- 25:47I'm going, how wild is it that both of those guys, when I walk
- 25:50into the arena every day, we have every team picture and I've
- 25:54shown my son who's 13 years old and you know, he's like, who is
- 25:57this guy? And I go, well, that guy made a
- 25:59big mistake, dude, that guy, some guy stole from him.
- 26:02He went after him, shot, missed him or hit the woman, hit a
- 26:06woman and did real jail time. And about Gilbert, one of the
- 26:09greatest players of his time. We got him at the tail end of
- 26:12his career. And so, yeah, that that
- 26:15documentary, it really changed how people look at it.
- 26:17And so, you know, the big question with y'all when that
- 26:20thing happened in Denver was did he bring the gun on the plane?
- 26:23Right. And you're like, well, I can't
- 26:25answer that. I don't know if it was on the
- 26:27plane or if it was in his luggage going underneath.
- 26:30Nobody knows. Nobody knows if he had it,
- 26:32somebody with him in Denver handed it to him.
- 26:34I don't know, Eric. But.
- 26:35Eric, I know he's screaming so. Eric the problem is with the NBA
- 26:39is with that whole story with Gilbert Arenas.
- 26:41He was actually buying guns in different States and flying them
- 26:44in. An NBA back.
- 26:46Back in an NBA plane and that's why he he was suspended for 50
- 26:49games. He wasn't suspended for the fact
- 26:51that he brought a loaded gun to a locker room.
- 26:55I mean, that to me tells me that the NBA has no control over
- 26:58their players. And, and with the whole Adam
- 27:01Silver and I say this and everybody knows on the show, I
- 27:04don't call it the NBA. I call it the LJA, LeBron James
- 27:07Association because ever since LeBron James has come to this
- 27:12league, he controls it. He controls the league and the
- 27:16pace. Is it a kowinky dink that LeBron
- 27:18James gets Luka Doncic at the trade deadline and The Mavericks
- 27:21win the draft, the lottery draft?
- 27:24They had a 1.8% chance of winning the lottery and they win
- 27:27the lottery. But you watch the NHL, by the
- 27:30way, and we watch the lottery. They actually do it in front of
- 27:32the television, like in front of the screen in the NBA, You they
- 27:35close the door. Do you think it's a Kowinky dink
- 27:38that The Mavericks won the draft after losing their best player
- 27:42and practice practically giving them away to the the Lakers for
- 27:45absolutely a bag of balls? See the only reason I the only
- 27:49thing that I can't get down with the conspiracy theory on the
- 27:52draft is you got to get 13 other teams to go.
- 27:55Yeah, we're cool if we don't get Cooper 5.
- 27:57We're OK with it and it's a billion dollar, you know, multi
- 28:00billion dollar company that now you're saying I would I'm with
- 28:03you. But they went back to the years,
- 28:05the Patrick Ewing draft and growing up in the Bay Area,
- 28:08we're in Golden State. The worst team in the league
- 28:10were like, Oh my gosh, we might get Patrick Ewing.
- 28:13And the word was that they put the Knicks plaque in the
- 28:16freezer. And if David Stern felt cold, he
- 28:20wasn't going to pull that envelope.
- 28:21So every time he touched and it was cold, he grabbed another
- 28:24one. And the Warriors ended up with
- 28:25Chris Mullen, which was great. But I think with the look you're
- 28:28talking about Nico Harrison, this is the same guy in a
- 28:31meeting when he was with Nike, called him Stephen Curry and he
- 28:34said, hey Steven, nice to meet you.
- 28:36And he goes, yeah, I think I'm going to go to Under Armour, who
- 28:38just sent Kent Bazemore, an undrafted guy out of Old
- 28:41Dominion, like 5 cases of gear to give away and Nike sweating
- 28:46me over getting some extra golf stuff for my dad.
- 28:49I'm going to switch brands here. And that was that summer where
- 28:52Under Armour got who they get Bryce Harper, Steph Curry,
- 28:57Jordan Spieth and all the Spaeth.
- 28:59Under Armour goes, yeah, hey, here we go.
- 29:01Let's, let's bring it on. So I, I just, you know, look,
- 29:04LeBron is the the guy that stirs everything up.
- 29:07There's no doubt about. It lja but I want you to do that
- 29:11when you're on live LJALJA. Don't call it the NPA anymore.
- 29:15The LJA. Next Lakers, Grizzlies
- 29:18broadcast. This is the LJA production.
- 29:22I like collecting a paycheck every two weeks.
- 29:26Download with you guys, I'm not going to lie.
- 29:29Could you imagine? Adam Silver mad at me.
- 29:31I think he's got some. Adam Silver's got some hidden
- 29:33fighting him. We had when we had our broadcast
- 29:36meetings this year, he came in and I swear I, I just thought he
- 29:40was this mild mannered guy and this dude just went to town with
- 29:44I mean, it was like almost Jerry Westlife.
- 29:47He's one of the ugliest men you'll ever see, dude.
- 29:50He's got the biggest freaking ears.
- 29:51His nose sticks out like freaking Pinocchio.
- 29:54And the guy really kisses dude. He might as well get on his
- 29:57hands and knees and kiss LeBron James's ass because that's what
- 30:00he does. I mean, every single time LeBron
- 30:04James is out there on social media, No, it's OK.
- 30:07It's it's OK, LeBron. You could do whatever you want.
- 30:10But if it was somebody else or Kevin Durant with his Twitter
- 30:13feeds, all seven or eight of them hiding behind his Twitter
- 30:16feeds, I mean, it's pathetic, dude.
- 30:18And here's another thing, do we remember the Kyrie Irving's
- 30:21antics, the anti-Semitic views that he had?
- 30:24Isn't hold on, isn't Adam Silver Jewish And he just, you know, he
- 30:29just brushed it under the rug. Who cares?
- 30:31Who cares? There's no Holocaust.
- 30:34I mean, seriously, it's pathetic.
- 30:36Adam Silver needs to and I used to like Adam Silver.
- 30:39I don't know personally, you probably met him and that's
- 30:42great. All the people love him and
- 30:44everybody thinks he's bringing all this money and that's great.
- 30:47And me and you can run the NBA and bring in all these these
- 30:50great sponsorships and advertisements.
- 30:52Stop it with the Roger Goodell and all these other guys.
- 30:55The fact is this guy let's the players run the league.
- 30:59That is the problem right now in the NBA.
- 31:01I've said this many, many times. If the NBA wants to be taken
- 31:05seriously again, they got to stop letting these players build
- 31:09their their fab 3 and, and, and make this make the league feel
- 31:13like, OK, well, I want to play in LA.
- 31:16So I'm going to make a I'm going to make a dominant team in LA
- 31:18where I'm going to play in Miami because I want to play for Pat
- 31:21Riley. So I'm going to bring in Chris
- 31:22Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James.
- 31:25To me, the NBA has made a mockery of the league.
- 31:29And now this, this 3 point, this is a three-point contest.
- 31:32Now in the regular season, it's Chuck up threes.
- 31:36Let's be Steph Curry. There's only one Steph Curry.
- 31:39So I just think it's just pathetic.
- 31:41I think the NBA is crap and and, and nobody cares about the
- 31:44regular season anymore. It's all about the playoffs.
- 31:47It's changed a lot. You're not wrong about that.
- 31:50And it's you know, I obviously I grew up in a time and you know,
- 31:54when the 80s NBA, it was fast. They scored, they didn't have a
- 31:58three-point line. I mean, you go look at some of
- 32:00Larry Bird's numbers and you imagine if they'd actually
- 32:03embraced the three. I think in one of his in the in
- 32:06the early days of the three-point line, I think there
- 32:09was here, Larry Bird took a total took a total of 82 threes.
- 32:14I mean, like you're like, this is the best shooter in the game
- 32:16right now. And you know, Casey Jones is
- 32:19telling them, yo, dude, that's not that's not a good shot.
- 32:22Step inside, take a 15 footer. Whereas I, I, I will never
- 32:26forget this. We were in Houston and Mike
- 32:31D'Antoni was coaching the Rockets at the time.
- 32:33And I want to say it was Nene was playing for them.
- 32:37And Mike D'Antoni was pretty strict about not taking a 15
- 32:41footer. And you see this dude like is
- 32:43not a a three-point shooter, but he's he takes the ball and backs
- 32:48out into the corner and shoots a three and somebody goes, why did
- 32:52you shoot that? He goes because I didn't want to
- 32:53get yelled at in practice for taking a shot that didn't work
- 32:56in our analytics. And I'm like, huh, it's an open
- 32:5915 footer. One of the things to me that
- 33:02makes shades Gilgeous Alexander so dangerous is this dude
- 33:05embraces that elbow jump shot. It's like, you're going to give
- 33:08me a 15 footer? I'm an NBA player.
- 33:09I'm going to make this more often than not.
- 33:12And I'm going to take two points.
- 33:13And I, I would lose my mind sometimes in our on our
- 33:16broadcast this year where we'd have a three on one breakdown by
- 33:19like 6 and guys pull up from 27 feet.
- 33:23I'm like, yo, nobody had any chance of stopping you getting a
- 33:27layup. Take the two points, get back,
- 33:30get another stop and if you have another fast break, take another
- 33:33layup. If you get into your offense and
- 33:35the play dictates a three-point shot, that's great.
- 33:38But hunting threes can be dangerous.
- 33:40Now it can also lead to massive comebacks.
- 33:42So I get it. But I I mean, not to bring up a
- 33:45bad subject, Tyrese Halliburton had a layup to tie that game.
- 33:48Instead he gets very lucky stepping all the way back
- 33:52thinking he shot 3 gets the bounce of a lifetime.
- 33:55Whereas if you go back at the end of that, let's just say that
- 33:58shot misses and you're going, dude, why didn't you just tie
- 34:00the game? Why didn't you just take the
- 34:03layup that you had? You had the man on skates, you
- 34:05had a lean and you might get an and one, you might get fouled,
- 34:08get two shots, miss 1, whatever. But why didn't you go all the
- 34:12way to the basket? Because that's not the way kids
- 34:13are now. And I'll tell you what, watching
- 34:16some of these youth basketball tournaments and I'm around the
- 34:19game a lot outside of my job and I saw some youth leagues and I'm
- 34:23like, this is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.
- 34:26If you gave me 5 kids, one of them being one of the better
- 34:29players on the court, the other 4 knowing how to team play team
- 34:32basketball, I'm going to kick every teams in this league's ass
- 34:35because we're going to set back screens, we're going to set base
- 34:38to base screens, we're going to play defense and we're going to
- 34:41pass the basketball. And I promise we'll win every
- 34:43game in this league by 15. And the one coach that did it in
- 34:46the league, I was kind of supervising at a facility here,
- 34:49they won every game by like 20 points.
- 34:51And I was like, how are you beating everybody?
- 34:52You don't have the best athletes.
- 34:53It's like because we play basketball, we don't play
- 34:56shooting contest. We don't play let me get a
- 34:58breakaway and try to dunk when I can't even barely get over the
- 35:02rim, even though I want to try to look cool.
- 35:04And you know, that's part of it. That's this like the image now
- 35:08for these guys. And I feel I, I get it Like
- 35:10they're young. There's so much money off the
- 35:12court, but to me, like when game time comes, who gives a flying?
- 35:16You know what what you're saying?
- 35:18It was what? Go ahead, pull the trigger.
- 35:20Say it, Eric. I can't.
- 35:21I'm just. Kidding.
- 35:22I'm just kidding. But like, look, Jerry West was
- 35:26the greatest Weaver of the four letter bomb I've ever heard.
- 35:28In fact, one day at a practice thought I was the TV guy and
- 35:32they said something that pissed him off and he he wove the F
- 35:36word into a paragraph that I'm pretty sure the only other words
- 35:39involved in said paragraph were you, US, them and paycheck and
- 35:46sign. And basically every other word
- 35:48was effer, effer or M effer. And I was like, wow, that was
- 35:52impressive. And I didn't like walk away
- 35:53scared. I was like, I'm impressed.
- 35:55And then you see the Showtime piece and he goes that that's
- 35:58not who I am. I'm not angry like that.
- 36:00And I raised my head. I said, I beg to differ.
- 36:02I have evidence of the contrary. But like, I like watching that.
- 36:08You would just you just want to go, what are we doing?
- 36:10What are we teaching kids? And, you know, like, learn how
- 36:14to play the game and you watch. To me, that's why to me,
- 36:17Oklahoma City is so dangerous. They play the game.
- 36:20They play the game of basketball.
- 36:21They play as a team. They move the ball, they share
- 36:24the basketball. They don't just constantly
- 36:26settle for threes. They will move and defend.
- 36:29I mean, like, and what planet did we ever think Alex Caruso
- 36:33would be a bright star in the playoffs when this dude, like he
- 36:37he walks out there, that dude walked into an open gym in
- 36:40Memphis. They'd be like, yo, who's the
- 36:42white boy? He can't play.
- 36:44And he would kick everybody's ass because he would play
- 36:46defense and be able to shoot. But he plays hard.
- 36:49And I think we've just gotten away from some of that because
- 36:53of all the extra stuff. And, you know, look that it
- 36:56makes me sound like the old guy in my neighborhood yelling get
- 36:58off my lawn. But I like the game when the
- 37:01game is played with ball movement and all these people
- 37:05that used to kill the Warriors and they're like, oh, I hate the
- 37:07Warriors. They they like for 19 out of 20
- 37:09years, they didn't make the playoffs.
- 37:11They grew their team organically, right?
- 37:13They get a bag full of money when the TV contract comes.
- 37:17So Kevin Durant goes, hey, I want to go play with them
- 37:20because I played with Steph in the Olympics.
- 37:21Now everybody hates them. But you watch the way they play.
- 37:24They move the basketball, they share the basketball.
- 37:27They're embracing a little bit of the new style, but they will
- 37:30still go to the basket. And you watch Steph and like all
- 37:33these people like, oh, I hate Steph Curry.
- 37:35First thing I say is why? Why do you hate a guy that does
- 37:38everything the right way? The same dribble routine?
- 37:40Every day I plead the works. His ass off every day because
- 37:43he's Eric asked because he asked.
- 37:45Errol about Steph Curry. Ask Errol about Steph Curry.
- 37:50I plead the 5th. I plead the 5th.
- 37:52Ask Errol about Steph Curry. Why don't you ask your question?
- 37:55I'm not going to get into this. We got we got a lot of other
- 37:58segments to go. I'm not going to Eric and me
- 38:01could talk off air or another show.
- 38:03OK, We'll get Eric on the video feed a lot sooner than later and
- 38:07we could talk about this. Yes, we'll get him on the show
- 38:09again in the next couple of weeks.
- 38:11Go ahead. John no, Eric.
- 38:13Eric, mine is honestly like I, you see it from a different
- 38:18perspective. And the one thing you've
- 38:21answered a lot of questions that we've we've all had in our
- 38:23private chat and, and certain things.
- 38:26But what do you think? Like when you get guys to that
- 38:30standard of how they can be great?
- 38:34How do you think the people around them and, and you see
- 38:37their following, you see their entourage and what have you?
- 38:41How much do you think that affects kind of what they do?
- 38:45Are they yes man? Do they do they call them out?
- 38:48And how do you think that plays a part in who they are or what
- 38:52they become? OK, I I was having a hard time
- 38:56hearing the question. Can you relay the question to me
- 38:58real quick? Yeah, no, I just, I just said
- 39:02the entourage that they have and the people around them.
- 39:05Oh yeah, do. You think that plays a part in
- 39:07who they are and what they become, or are they playing up
- 39:11to that part? Yeah, you know, that's a great
- 39:14question because I'm sure you saw a lot of it.
- 39:17And, you know, it's hard to walk away from your friends.
- 39:20Like your friends are your friends, the guys you grew up
- 39:22with. And you want to you find it on
- 39:24boatload of success and you want to take care of people.
- 39:27And I get that. But look, some of your guys have
- 39:31to, you know, understand that you're not run up and down your
- 39:36your block anymore and, you know, protecting each other's
- 39:39backs. There's a brand, there's an
- 39:40image, there's a, there's a, a, a different lifestyle ahead and,
- 39:44and the quote UN quote keeping it real.
- 39:48You have to evolve. I'm sorry.
- 39:49Like, I have a friend of mine that if you would have picked
- 39:52the one guy out of my friend group that was going to become a
- 39:54near billionaire, he would have been the last guy I picked.
- 39:57But he did. And we don't see him as much.
- 40:01He has business meetings, he has exclusive places he goes.
- 40:05And as much as he'll hang out with all of us again, and none
- 40:08of us are, you know, sticking our fingers in our ears at at a
- 40:11nice restaurant or anything. But you know, like he invites
- 40:15you out and you you might meet a billionaire, you might meet Tony
- 40:18Romo, you might meet a guy that you know is just a regular dude.
- 40:22And in the end, we're all regular people.
- 40:24But. When you are a guy that is in
- 40:27the public image and between an unknown billionaire and an
- 40:31athlete, billionaire is astronomical.
- 40:33So if you can't as somebody's buddy, realize that, then to me,
- 40:37you got the athlete himself. To me, like, let's use John as
- 40:42an example. His best buddy is the one
- 40:44everybody's kind of pointing the finger at, and he's the one who
- 40:47got kicked out of Arbena for a year because he walked onto the
- 40:51court. And I said, I'm like, look, he
- 40:54can't walk on the court. I know he's your boy.
- 40:56I know two guys on the team are talking trash to him.
- 40:59You want to protect him. We got guys for that.
- 41:01That's not your role. Be his boy, right?
- 41:04And the The funny thing was the guy wanted to challenge James
- 41:08Johnson. He's like pointing at James
- 41:09Johnson, who was playing for the Pacers.
- 41:12James Johnson's a 7th degree black belt.
- 41:14And on the air I said, and I knew who it was, but I couldn't
- 41:17throw him under the bus. And I go, well, there's a fan
- 41:19that it apparently wants to fight James Johnson.
- 41:22And that would be the last mistake he ever makes because
- 41:24James will will knock him out where he stands and he may not
- 41:28ever get up. And James is a big dude.
- 41:30Like you forget like some of these fans that talk trash to to
- 41:34NBA players, MLB players, NFL players, you're like, yo, dude,
- 41:39that guy's 6 foot 5 and 250 lbs. You're five, 11180.
- 41:44He trains his body every single day.
- 41:47You # Coors Light and eat Cheetos like they're going out
- 41:49of style. He's going to break you in half
- 41:52before you blink. I don't care like it doesn't.
- 41:55Matter. We know some guys, we know
- 41:56they're athletes, but you know, there's the Greg Hardy's of the
- 41:59world that you just want to He tries to get into the mixed
- 42:02martial arts world in. Memphis his own, yeah.
- 42:05But look, I wouldn't want, I wouldn't want to fight Greg
- 42:07Hardy, but I wouldn't want to fight Greg Hardy.
- 42:10But I sure as hell would rather fight Greg Hardy than a true
- 42:13professional fighter. Greg Card, he's a bitch.
- 42:16He beats up women. He's a bitch, OK?
- 42:19He's just a big mongrel. Mongrel.
- 42:21Whatever they call him, he's to me.
- 42:24He I don't even know why he even stepped into the Octagon,
- 42:27because he every single time he stepped in the Octagon, he was
- 42:31he was, he was horrible, man. He what happened?
- 42:37Marc Gastano doesn't have a brain.
- 42:40OK, I mean, well, Marc Gastano doesn't even know his name.
- 42:44Is there a crazier human being on the planet?
- 42:45By the way, that by the way, The Jets 30 for 30 was great.
- 42:48Getting those guys back, I love it.
- 42:52But no, but I mean when you have an entourage to me and look, we
- 42:56had one of the most tragic stories ever with the Lorenzen
- 42:59Wright murder by his ex-wife and her lover.
- 43:02Horrible story. But but but Ren before that, one
- 43:05of the reasons the money was running out.
- 43:07He could never say no to his buddies and his buddies didn't
- 43:11necessarily get him in trouble. But you're paying your buddies
- 43:14to basically be your buddy. Like if I go win the Powerball
- 43:18tomorrow, and I believe me, I'd love to, I don't expect five of
- 43:22my buddies to be on my doorstep going.
- 43:24So do I get an $80,000 a year contract now?
- 43:26I'll be like, hell no, dude, you go get a job and we can hang
- 43:29out. I'll pay for every night out.
- 43:31I'll pay for dinners, I'll pay for trips.
- 43:34Stop it, Eric. Eric, if there you had, if you
- 43:37won the lottery and you had like $200 million, you're definitely
- 43:41giving everyone. I always said this and we got
- 43:43to, we got to let you go, Eric. But I and I wish we could keep
- 43:46you on the whole show. But I want to, I want to say
- 43:49something, man. If you made 250 or $200 million
- 43:53in the lottery and you got all your friends, I always said
- 43:56this, I'm giving every one of my friends $3,000,000.
- 43:59They're they you through 250 million dollars, $200 million.
- 44:03What are you going to do with that money?
- 44:04I mean, seriously, you're not going to die with it.
- 44:06You save some for your kids and your family and you enjoy your
- 44:10life. I mean seriously, you only live
- 44:12once. Illuminati, baby Illuminati.
- 44:17I'll tell you this, and I know you got to let me go.
- 44:19If I won the lottery, you know the weirdest thing I would do?
- 44:21I would have a brand new pair of socks for every day.
- 44:24Every single day I'd put on new socks.
- 44:26I think you'd have a girl every single day.
- 44:29That is different stream. She would be putting on the
- 44:31socks for me. You beat Steven Seagal, you have
- 44:36a different girl in every room. Well.
- 44:39God bless that. By the way, that's a great way
- 44:42and. Like she would be putting.
- 44:44On his socks. Anyways, Eric, you're fantastic.
- 44:49Let's get you on the show. The season's almost over.
- 44:52Let's get you on in like a month and we'll get you on and maybe
- 44:55and you'll stay on and we'll talk a little basketball, we'll
- 44:58talk some football with you. You stay on, you hang out.
- 45:00You'll be a guest on the show for the whole show.
- 45:02How about that? I would love it guys.
- 45:05Thank you so much. I apologize for all the
- 45:06confusion and I love the candor and the honesty of the program.
- 45:11Always, always appreciate being on.
- 45:12Thank you, Eric Haseltine. He's fantastic.
- 45:16The one and only the Grizzlies Maniac.
- 45:19Oh, well, I'm the maniac. He's just the grizzly, you know,
- 45:22he's the grizzly bear. Anyway, he was fantastic.
- 45:26Thank you to Eric Haseltine. I know he's a very busy man and
- 45:29his video wasn't working very, very well, but he came on the
- 45:33audio end of it and he gave us really, really good content,
- 45:37Speedy, a lot of stuff you can chop up and post it up on
- 45:41social. Media.
- 45:41I remember there was one time he was in his car, I think the
- 45:43second time he was on the show, but it didn't cut out like that.
- 45:46And I think he did actually mention that.
- 45:47Lorenzen Wright. Dude, that's another horrible
- 45:50thing. Yeah, he was telling the story
- 45:52from his perspective. He encountered some of the
- 45:53stuff. Well, I, I actually, I was
- 45:56studying. There was different things that
- 45:58came out about it. She just by the way, his wife
- 46:01just got indicted and she's jail for 25 years.
- 46:05The life, I mean, it was a long, long time before they can pin it
- 46:10on her. And then it took like like 10
- 46:13years before she she got indicted.
- 46:15It's a horrible, horrible story. And Lorenzo, right, was one of
- 46:19the nicest people. I never met Lorenzo, but he
- 46:21obviously Eric did and said when he he was one of the nicest,
- 46:25most careful, care, caring people you'll ever meet.
- 46:29The Thunder dominate the Timberwolves 114 to 88 to take a
- 46:33one nothing series lead in the Western Conference finals.
- 46:37After the Timberwolves LED by 4 at halftime.
- 46:40The Thunder outscored the Timberwolves by 26 points in the
- 46:43second-half. The Thunder had four players
- 46:46with double figures while the Timberwolves just had two,
- 46:50including Julius Randall leading the team with 28 points.
- 46:54Anthony Edwards was fined $50,000 for using profanity
- 46:59during his post game interview. Edwards used the F bomb when
- 47:04complaining about the fact that he only took thirteen shots
- 47:08during the game. Edwards just had 18 points, 9
- 47:12rebounds and three assists and game number ones Little.
- 47:15Here's what I'm going to say about Anthony Edwards.
- 47:17Stop talking and just play because every time you speak it
- 47:23makes me want to hurl. Everything that you say,
- 47:26everything that you do as a leader of this team shows your
- 47:30non leadership skills. After the game you don't want to
- 47:34take responsibility, you want to blame everybody else and you
- 47:37want to say that you only had thirteen shots.
- 47:39How about this? You want more than 13 shots, get
- 47:42in position so you can get a shot.
- 47:45Stop trying to dunk the ball. Stop dancing and prancing around
- 47:49the referees when you get fouled and crying the river like Carl
- 47:52Anthony Towns. That's why you guys are buddies.
- 47:54That's why I call you the timber bullies.
- 47:57That's what you are. You're a bully.
- 47:58That's what you are. Anthony.
- 48:00You don't want to take responsibility when you want to
- 48:02be the you don't want to be the face of the United States
- 48:05basketball, but you want to take responsibility when you're not
- 48:08getting the ball and you want to say that you're not getting a
- 48:10ball. That's why your team didn't win
- 48:12you. You didn't win because you're
- 48:13not a team player. If you actually step back and
- 48:16realize what team means, it doesn't mean Anthony Edwards.
- 48:21That Timberwolves as a team does not mean Anthony Edwards.
- 48:26And by the way, Alex Rodriguez, where the hell are you when you
- 48:30have a player with this kind of confidence?
- 48:32We all know, Alex, you are a great player.
- 48:34You're one of the greatest of your era.
- 48:37And you know you got to step back as a leader and an owner of
- 48:40a team after that game. We're watching that debacle of a
- 48:42game and pull Anthony Edwards to the side and say, listen, you
- 48:45haven't won nothing, buddy. I was the best player in the
- 48:48league for over 12 years and I didn't win a championship until
- 48:51I went to the Yankees. And it took me 5 years to do
- 48:54that with guys like Jabba Table and and Derek Jeter and all
- 48:58those bullies over there in New York.
- 49:00I've had to save the bullpen. I'm just saying it, you got to
- 49:03be a champion. And if you want to be a champion
- 49:06and you got to be a champion, you got to find a way to be a
- 49:09leader. And you going up there and
- 49:12cursing and prancing when all these kids are buying your
- 49:15jersey and buying your sneakers and doing that in front of the
- 49:18press shows you you're not mature enough to be here in the
- 49:21NBA and making millions and millions of dollars.
- 49:24I love the fact that he's come out and said that he doesn't go
- 49:27out there and spend his money on nice jewelry and buy, you know,
- 49:31these crazy cars that he saved saving his money because he
- 49:34doesn't want to go broke. I love his his whole demeanor
- 49:37when it comes to saving money and trying to be a professional.
- 49:40What I don't like about Anthony Edwards is I don't like his
- 49:43bragging. I don't like him coming out and
- 49:45talking about how much money he's making through endorsements
- 49:48and how much him as a player and as as he moves forward as a
- 49:53player, he can make and become a billionaire before the age of
- 49:5730. I don't want to know about that.
- 49:59All I want to know is when are you going to win a championship?
- 50:01When are you going to lead your team to a finals and actually
- 50:05have a chance to win a championship?
- 50:06Because we've seen it back-to-back years and we might
- 50:08see it back-to-back years where you're going to lose.
- 50:11And I'm going to say this, I'm going to give a shout out to
- 50:14Julius Randle. I got to give a shout out to
- 50:17this guy because as a New York Knick, this guy.
- 50:20Hold on, you're hold on. You're calling him by his name
- 50:23and not the bricklayer. I'm going to say this.
- 50:25I'm going to say it. When I watch it, I'm I'm an
- 50:27honest guy and I watch the game. He is as a Knick fan has always
- 50:32called him and I'm one of them, called him the bricklayer.
- 50:36I got to give him credit when this guy has been a laughing
- 50:39stock here in New York because he doesn't show up to playoff
- 50:42games and in the big games. And he loved to throw Jalen
- 50:44Brunson under the bus and say that he was the better player on
- 50:47the team. He's gone out there.
- 50:49He's been a team leader over there with the Timberwolves and
- 50:52he's played well and he's I think he's really transitioned
- 50:57into a team leader over there with the Timberwolves.
- 50:59You would expect that Anthony Edwards is the leading voice of
- 51:02that locker room. It's not.
- 51:04It's Julius Randle. And it's, it's crazy because
- 51:07after the game when they're interviewing Julius Randle,
- 51:10Julius Randle says we got to play better, especially me.
- 51:14I got to play better. I got to get these guys to play
- 51:16better. If I play at the top of my game
- 51:19and they're playing at the top of their game, there should be
- 51:21no reason why we shouldn't win. And, and by the way, Julius
- 51:25Randall is a comedian. He likes to make jokes.
- 51:27And you can see him and Anthony Edwards at the press conference,
- 51:30but Julius Randall is not going to go out there and curse, use
- 51:33the F bomb and things like that. That shows the in the, the
- 51:38maturity of of Julius Randall. It shows the non maturity of a
- 51:42guy like Anthony Edwards. And I it, it just bothers me
- 51:45because I don't know if the Timberwolves will ever get over
- 51:47the hump with this guy as their leader.
- 51:49Yeah. You also look at the comments
- 51:50that he's made in the past too. Like obviously some of them are
- 51:53crazy. Some of them are fan driven too.
- 51:54Obviously we talked about the Michael Jordan one that was more
- 51:56fan driven. I think it was him driven.
- 51:58The Olympics one definitely maybe was a little stretched
- 52:00calling himself the truth. Fine.
- 52:02This one is more on stuff you can control too.
- 52:05Like, why is he? You're blaming that you only
- 52:07took thirteen shots in the game. It's not like people were
- 52:10stealing the ball from you and hogging the ball.
- 52:11It's not like you had Carmelo Anthony dribbling the entire
- 52:14shot clock from Julius Randall or Dante D Vincenzo or somebody
- 52:17like that. You had enough time to shoot
- 52:19more than 13 shots. This is something you can
- 52:21control. I'm going to do something we
- 52:22haven't done in a while is actually protect Stefan Diggs in
- 52:25comparison. Remember Stefan Diggs
- 52:26complaining about the targets? Yeah, he shouldn't be doing
- 52:28that, but he's not controlling it.
- 52:30The offensive coordinator, the coaching, and Josh Allen's
- 52:33controlling it. Anthony Edwards, he's
- 52:35controlling it when he's holding the ball a bunch of the time.
- 52:37So you can't complain you only took thirteen shots.
- 52:39When you're the one holding the ball, you're not a big man,
- 52:41you're not a power forward. A stretch.
- 52:42Forward, it's a baby. Yeah, complaining about not
- 52:45getting the ball enough inside because you're not bringing the
- 52:47ball up, You're bringing the ball up and you're complaining
- 52:49you're only getting 13 shots. It's that's that's ridiculous
- 52:52today. I mean, come on, Like you want
- 52:54to curse out reporters questioning, oh, I only got 13
- 52:57shots and you want to take shots at them for saying why he's that
- 53:00you're the one controlling Chris Finch isn't taking the ball out
- 53:02of your hand and other guy Julius Randle's like going back
- 53:05to 2021 Julius Randle where he's hogging the ball forever.
- 53:09This that wasn't the case of that game.
- 53:10That's not why you lost the game, Anthony.
- 53:12Like you took thirteen shots? Spank it baby.
- 53:14Spank it, speedy. Yeah, maybe.
- 53:16Yeah, He seemed like he was trying to metaphorically spank
- 53:19the reporters. I like anal these.
- 53:20Aren't uncalled for. And it's absolutely uncalled
- 53:23for. Yes, I'm sure I'm.
- 53:24Sure, you. No, I'm T Dodger.
- 53:26Yeah, you're 100% right, though, because we've had this
- 53:29conversation when Ant has said, you know, he doesn't want to be
- 53:33the face, I think this just kind of shows exactly why, because he
- 53:39can't be the face because look at how he handles certain things
- 53:43and the way he handles it. Like there are certain guys in
- 53:46certain sports that just know how to handle media in certain
- 53:49ways. But he is, he has shown over and
- 53:52over that not only does he not want to be the face, but he's
- 53:56not even a leader of the team as one of the best basketball
- 53:58players that we have in the NBA, right?
- 54:00Like one of the most athletics that we have.
- 54:03And to do the things that he does, but then to subside that
- 54:09being on the other side where it's like, no, I just want to be
- 54:12me. I don't want to do anything.
- 54:13Well, if you want to lead the team to win, exactly what Ariel
- 54:16said, it's like they're not going to win a championship if
- 54:18he doesn't take ownership and leadership of that team and be
- 54:23who he should be. Because you are that dude.
- 54:25Like, you are that dude and I don't care whether you want to
- 54:29admit it or not and be the face. You don't have to be the face,
- 54:33right? Mike Trout came out when he was
- 54:35when he was doing in baseball. He said I don't want to be the
- 54:38face because I just want to do me and I want to be me.
- 54:41But when it comes to the NBA, it's a little different.
- 54:44And he just hasn't shown leadership or anything to show
- 54:49us where we could even be like, that's the guy that we want to
- 54:53be the face of this game right now because there's a passing of
- 54:56the torch in every generation and we get generational talent.
- 55:01And he could be that if he would just embrace instead of pushing
- 55:04it away and trying to not be somebody that he's not.
- 55:09Like, you can go into these interviews and be pissed off
- 55:13That's fine. Like I understand that.
- 55:15But when you go and you're dropping expletives and
- 55:18whatever, like that's just not necessary.
- 55:21That's just the maturation of you becoming a player.
- 55:24Maybe it gets better in a few years.
- 55:26Maybe when he grows up and somebody gets in his ear and you
- 55:30see what can happen. You just don't know.
- 55:32But right now, no chance. And you know, LeBron saying
- 55:36that, you know he's going to be the face, which that is, is a
- 55:41great, great compliment, right? But you don't embrace it or take
- 55:45it for what it's worth. Because as much as people like
- 55:49or don't like LeBron, he handles the media very well and he says
- 55:53what he but and he just, he just doesn't do the things that I
- 55:56think, And this is just me personally, where I wouldn't
- 56:00want that to be the face of the NBA.
- 56:03Isn't there like a crazy ceiling and a crazy floor for him?
- 56:08100% in his. Career which in most cases he
- 56:10like I defended him a lot of the time but not I can't hear.
- 56:14So I'm glad everyone's coming around to the dark side, which
- 56:17was my opinion on Anthony Edwards for a while now because
- 56:21I just worry about his lack of maturity and he's now in the
- 56:24League 5. Years Ram Jam.
- 56:26There's there's a guy that played in the league six years
- 56:30and was like really great young guy who was going to take over
- 56:33back in the day era when when I was in high school, so in the
- 56:37early 2000s and he fell off a Cliff.
- 56:41Because if you don't mature in time, your athleticism doesn't
- 56:45stay as you get older, you lose some of it.
- 56:49So if you don't start playing the game in a way where the ball
- 56:52gets back to you enough that you take enough shots and you're not
- 56:56in, you run sets well, so you get the ball at the end of them.
- 57:00Let's face it, that's on you. If you start with the ball and
- 57:02you don't end up with it, what are you talking about?
- 57:05Like you're the one starting the play.
- 57:08You've started. You've initiated offense.
- 57:11What are we even talking about that?
- 57:13So my guy that I, I'm worried about as the floor, what if he's
- 57:17Stevie Franchise? Stevie Franchise was a super
- 57:21dunker, was an All Star every year.
- 57:24And then the athleticism went a little bit, lost the shot a
- 57:27little bit and he was basically an afterthought.
- 57:31Ended up on the Knicks as an afterthought, of course, on
- 57:33those horrible Knicks teams and was out of the league in less
- 57:35than 10 years. That is the floor for him
- 57:39because he has the athleticism. Will his maturity catch up in
- 57:43time? And then obviously, franchise,
- 57:46Stevie, franchise suffered a bad knee.
- 57:48We're not saying anything like that's going to happen, but
- 57:52that's the worst case scenario, right?
- 57:54Someone who's already rising to that level.
- 57:57Brandon. Roy was a great player for five
- 57:59years. First of all, Anthony Edwards is
- 58:02a much better player than Stevie Franchise.
- 58:04Sure. Much better player.
- 58:06I mean, you're talking about a top three player right now in
- 58:09the NBA. You can argue he's just as good
- 58:11as Yokich. He's just as good as Shy
- 58:14Alexander. He is that good.
- 58:15I don't know why anybody doesn't think that he is.
- 58:18The problem with him is he thinks he's the best that ever
- 58:21was. He compares himself and I know
- 58:24he doesn't want to say it, but he compares himself to Michael
- 58:26Jordan. He's not Michael Jordan because
- 58:28Michael Jordan did nothing but win.
- 58:30What does this guy want? He's won nothing.
- 58:33He had Karl Anthony Towns. He has had a good roster really
- 58:36since he was drafted. Has he ever gotten over the
- 58:39hump? By the way, he used to have
- 58:40Jimmy Buckets on his team. It was Jimmy Buckets, Karl
- 58:43Anthony Towns and him and they still couldn't win with Tom
- 58:47Thibodeau, by the way, who's the defensive guru?
- 58:51So I don't want to hear it anymore.
- 58:53I, as far as I'm concerned, Anthony Edwards, go out there
- 58:56and play the game, show everybody that you should be
- 59:00considered the best player in the league.
- 59:02And until you do that, you're never going to be.
- 59:05And by the way, Kevin Durant, that was his God, that was his
- 59:08favorite player growing up as Kevin Durant.
- 59:11How long it took him to win a championship.
- 59:13It took him from going from one team to another.
- 59:16Does Anthony Edwards have to do that to win A and I'm not taking
- 59:20shots at Kevin Durant. He was the best player on that
- 59:22Golden State Warrior team, but he had to jump from one team to
- 59:25another and not be be the leader of the team to go to go with
- 59:29Steph Curry and be the other guy, even though he was the best
- 59:32player. Does Anthony Edwards have to do
- 59:34that in the future to win a championship?
- 59:36To me, that doesn't make you the best.
- 59:38That makes you really a top five player at best, and that's where
- 59:43he's looked at by a lot of players in the league.
- 59:45He's not a top three player because he's come out and said
- 59:49that he doesn't want to be the face of the NBA.
- 59:50He doesn't want to be the face of Team USA basketball.
- 59:53He just wants to play basketball and play his video games.
- 59:55Take your video game video games and shove it up your ass, bro.
- 59:58Take it and shove it up your ass.
- 1:00:00That to me, video games is not going to tell me what type of
- 1:00:04player you are and what the type of player you're going to be in
- 1:00:07the future. What it does tell me is that you
- 1:00:10don't care about the game as much as you should.
- 1:00:12Because she should be like Kobe Bryant at 5:00 in the morning,
- 1:00:15going to the gyms and shooting up those threes and those free
- 1:00:18throws and trying to make yourself better in the gym than
- 1:00:21going out there and playing video games till 4:00 in the
- 1:00:24morning after you're you're playing an NBA playoff game.
- 1:00:27So it's pathetic. And that's the difference we
- 1:00:29talked about with talent versus leadership.
- 1:00:31And I think it's even more prevalent in the NBA than it is
- 1:00:33with any other sport because obviously in football you want
- 1:00:35to have the leadership be emphasized in certain positions
- 1:00:37too, obviously. I don't play video games but
- 1:00:41what I've heard recently, not in this series, that when he was
- 1:00:45losing or he lost the game in the last series.
- 1:00:49I think it was one game that they lost in the last series.
- 1:00:51He was playing video games to 5:00 in the morning after that.
- 1:00:55That game, I think there was one of the playing.
- 1:00:57Games. It was a story.
- 1:00:58Career to where that was like that.
- 1:00:59He was, he was up to all hours of the night playing video games
- 1:01:02because it shows you that he was mocking the team that he was
- 1:01:05playing, that he didn't think they were much of a challenge.
- 1:01:07So he said, you know what, I don't care.
- 1:01:09I don't have to sleep. I can go out there and play my
- 1:01:11game and beat them. Hands down to me, it's
- 1:01:14despicable. And if you're a leader or you're
- 1:01:16a part of an organization that doesn't have leadership that can
- 1:01:19control this guy, then you don't have a team and you don't have,
- 1:01:21you're never going to win a championship.
- 1:01:23Right. And that's what you and Fish
- 1:01:24were debating on Monday. By the way, check out our clips
- 1:01:26on our on our social media just posted earlier today debating at
- 1:01:29the awards leadership, if it's enough to be able to do it.
- 1:01:31And again, there's a difference with leadership and talent that
- 1:01:33comes now. I gave him the credit for being
- 1:01:35able to lead over somebody like Julius Randall, somebody over
- 1:01:38like really Rudy Gobert that's had issues with their other
- 1:01:40teams in the past and now it this seems.
- 1:01:43Like the bagel? Whole reverse thing where you're
- 1:01:46going to throw them under the bus inadvertently by saying, oh,
- 1:01:49I only took thirteen shots. That's not him.
- 1:01:52Breaking news that's not I'm putting you on a leash now.
- 1:01:55Anything. Yes, and the AdWords should be
- 1:01:58put on a leash from those types of combats, metaphorically
- 1:02:01speaking, not physically like Rudy Gobert.
- 1:02:03Shoving him and. Stuff like that.
- 1:02:04But like metaphorically speaking, saying it's not our
- 1:02:07fault that that you didn't get as much shots in the game as
- 1:02:11you're doing like in baseball, like there's uncontrollable
- 1:02:14aspects you have. If you have a 5 hitter or
- 1:02:15something that can only get to the plate five times, you're not
- 1:02:18going to say I didn't get enough plate appearance.
- 1:02:19The top. Four guys and then say, like I
- 1:02:22was talking about with football with Stefan Diggs, like there's
- 1:02:25only some controllable aspects that a game plan is going to
- 1:02:27have where you're being peppered with targets all the time in
- 1:02:30basketball, in basketball. I need a genuine tonic.
- 1:02:34Basketball, there's five guys in the court, there's not as much
- 1:02:37things to be able to steal that kind of thing where you're only
- 1:02:39shooting 13 shots. I don't think you can shoot 33
- 1:02:41shots. But there should be some kind of
- 1:02:43a balance in a playoff game that's already led to this point
- 1:02:46and created good things and he just doesn't have that.
- 1:02:48And Kevin Durant, you were talking about it.
- 1:02:50Maybe it was the same kind of way at the beginning of his
- 1:02:51career where you're questioning his leadership and the whole if
- 1:02:54you get beat him joining things, he joins Golden State and then
- 1:02:57they went to champions. That's.
- 1:02:58What's going to happening, Anthony?
- 1:02:59And it's definitely possible, I think.
- 1:03:00That's what's going to happen. Obviously it's not going to
- 1:03:02happen this year because he just.
- 1:03:03Signed the contract, but. 2-3 years down the.
- 1:03:05Alex Rodriguez is running that team and so is Gloria.
- 1:03:08The Marlins, we all know what that team did after they won a
- 1:03:11championship. They sold their players.
- 1:03:13So that's what they're going to do.
- 1:03:14Eventually. Anthony Edwards is going to be a
- 1:03:16piece that he's in a sellaway after he sells the team.
- 1:03:20And and same thing with Alex Rodriguez.
- 1:03:21They bought the team for like under 2 billion or at 2 billion.
- 1:03:25Dollars 1 1/2 Yeah, so one and a.
- 1:03:27Half 1 1/2 billion dollars, they got an NBA team and they're
- 1:03:30going to sell it for 6 or 7 billion.
- 1:03:32It's an absolute slam dunk and honestly was one of the probably
- 1:03:36best moves Alex Rodriguez has ever done in his career when it
- 1:03:39comes to business deals because so he's sitting there pretty.
- 1:03:43He owns a basketball team with one of the best players in the
- 1:03:45league and he's going to sell them away just like we've seen
- 1:03:48it before. Mark, remember, he owns the WNBA
- 1:03:52team as well. That's right, Mark.
- 1:03:53Always has a price if you got. That which is all a.
- 1:03:57Price, you got it, basketball, and I don't remember that.
- 1:04:00One of the best free throw shooters ever.
- 1:04:02I'm just saying Mark always has a price.
- 1:04:04Job I wonder if the Timberwolves are on pace for have one
- 1:04:07spending spree offseason like the great Marlins team of 2011
- 1:04:10by Burley and Jose Reyes. At all Jose Reyes Well, they had
- 1:04:14to because they got in trouble the year before because they
- 1:04:17didn't spend anything and their payroll was like.
- 1:04:19It's not a single player million.
- 1:04:21That's crazy. I think the Cardinals are on
- 1:04:23pace for that this offseason too.
- 1:04:24I totally finally I think got one like in February or
- 1:04:27something like that. Cardinals are playing good
- 1:04:28baseball, but we're not getting into baseball right now.
- 1:04:30But I, I, I will say this, if, if they don't win tonight, I, I
- 1:04:35think the Timberwolves are done. They, they have to win this game
- 1:04:39tonight. If they plan to go back home and
- 1:04:41make this, make this, I think the Timberwolves should win this
- 1:04:45series. If Anthony Edwards is playing at
- 1:04:47the top of his game and the way Julius Randall is playing, they
- 1:04:50should win this series. I think they're the better team.
- 1:04:52I really do. I, I know everybody likes OKC
- 1:04:55and the talent that they have. I still think Anthony Edwards is
- 1:04:59the best player in this series. As good as Shy Alexander is,
- 1:05:03Anthony Edwards could take over a game like we've never seen a
- 1:05:05player do since Michael Jordan. I've seen this guy completely
- 1:05:09dominate a game and just do everything on a basketball
- 1:05:12court. If he figures this out and, and
- 1:05:15starts to play his game and shuts his mouth and plays that
- 1:05:18dominant fashion play type of basketball, then I, I think
- 1:05:22they're better than Shy Alexander's OKC Thunder.
- 1:05:24But I the way we've seen it over the last couple of months and
- 1:05:29and really for the last three years of this guy, this guy is
- 1:05:33his own worst enemy. And I think this is going to be
- 1:05:35a big problem moving forward in this series because OKC is
- 1:05:38licking their lips and OKC has a chance to win their first title
- 1:05:42since their expansion, You know, chances with Kevin Durant,
- 1:05:46Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka.
- 1:05:49This is this is a team that actually can win with less
- 1:05:51talent, so. It's watching the game right
- 1:05:54now, Errol, it's early in the game and Jalen Williams just
- 1:05:58went down with an injury. It's a good sign.
- 1:06:00Muck things up a little bit for OKC.
- 1:06:03Don't know how bad it is, but they did take him out for a
- 1:06:06minute, so we'll see what happens with him.
- 1:06:09Look, you're absolutely right. If they can't win this game,
- 1:06:12they're in a lot of trouble. Look, they'll go home, but
- 1:06:15there's so much shooting on that OKC team and so much ball
- 1:06:19movement and movement without the ball, especially from the
- 1:06:22forward and center position with Hardenstein.
- 1:06:25For a guy like Gobert to keep up with, for a guy like Randall who
- 1:06:28we know loses guys to keep up with, it's going to be a tall,
- 1:06:32tall order. I don't think they match up very
- 1:06:35well at all. Chet's going to give Randall
- 1:06:37problems if he's going to be on the outside.
- 1:06:39On the inside, Hardenstein can give him problems It it's just
- 1:06:43it's just not a great match up for Minnesota in my opinion.
- 1:06:46And Edwards, why Think about it, if he initiated the offense, why
- 1:06:50didn't he get the ball back? Because they're face guarding
- 1:06:53him. And when he's supposed to get
- 1:06:54the ball back, because the coach knows, because the coach is a
- 1:06:57good coach. So guess what?
- 1:07:00You're going to have to take the ball into your own hands and
- 1:07:02lead. And if not you, you're not going
- 1:07:05to win. And I think we're finding out
- 1:07:07right now he's never going to be the best player on a
- 1:07:09championship team. Can he be the second best player
- 1:07:11in the championship team? I bet he could.
- 1:07:14But is he going to be that guy? I don't think he has them to be
- 1:07:17that guy. Well, great players find a way
- 1:07:19to win. And by the way, Anthony Edwards
- 1:07:21is playing a good team basketball game right now.
- 1:07:23I'm watching the game. He's passing the ball, he's
- 1:07:25using his teammates around him. Something that we know Jalen
- 1:07:28Brunson has not done in game #1 So if if we see.
- 1:07:32If yet they're still down 10, you know, like it's it's just
- 1:07:37it's just like and you know, Shay, just as we said, does a
- 1:07:40turn around fade away on D Vincenzo off the glass like Tim
- 1:07:44Duncan, and it's just this is a problem.
- 1:07:47It's early not compete with that shooting.
- 1:07:49It's early, it's early again this I believe still the
- 1:07:54Timberwolves are very, very, very aggressive team and they're
- 1:07:57very well coached and if they can win this game and they can
- 1:08:00go back home to Minnesota, they can win this series.
- 1:08:03I, I do and I they're very hard to beat in Minnesota just as
- 1:08:06well as OKC is at when they're at home.
- 1:08:09I think OKC has only lost six games at home all season long or
- 1:08:13something of that magnitude. So I, I just, I'm not going to
- 1:08:16sit here and say this series is over.
- 1:08:18I know it's one game to none. I know you don't think the
- 1:08:21Knicks series is over, but you think.
- 1:08:24You think as you use the word think.
- 1:08:26I I just. Keep.
- 1:08:27What are you even talking about? You just, you said it.
- 1:08:31You want you want me to go back to what you said.
- 1:08:32You just. You did say that, I think.
- 1:08:35If I if I think I got so many things, I'd love to say, but.
- 1:08:40They're bagel holes. I'm not going to.
- 1:08:42I am a legend. Very eerily similar.
- 1:08:44Someone who doesn't listen when they've been told 99 * 1 thing
- 1:08:49and you heard one thing out of the other one of 100 and you
- 1:08:52stick with the one. Now the real question does Joeys
- 1:08:55bag of doughnuts come with bagel holes?
- 1:08:57Don't worry, when we get to our sports minute later, Joey
- 1:09:00Bagadonis is making a return. Don't you dare worry about that.
- 1:09:04Well, you I worry about everything I was going to.
- 1:09:07Say I would worry about everything that goes through
- 1:09:10that guy's mind. Well, it's you have to worry
- 1:09:12about what goes through my mind. I mean, seriously, there are a
- 1:09:15lot of things that come out of my mind that, you know, offset.
- 1:09:18I don't have the energy to worry about what's going on in your
- 1:09:21mind. That's true.
- 1:09:22There's a lot, I mean, there are things that I do offset that
- 1:09:25probably you'll get people worried, you know, but
- 1:09:28nevertheless, I don't want to mention those crazy things.
- 1:09:31You, you have to know me off air to know that if you think I'm
- 1:09:35crazy on air, I'm a lot worse off air.
- 1:09:37But nevertheless, I know and I understand the game of
- 1:09:41basketball and I do believe Anthony Edwards is as good as
- 1:09:44Shy Alexander when it comes to this game.
- 1:09:46And if, if Anthony Edwards wants to beat OKC, he's going to have
- 1:09:50to play his dominant fashion of basketball.
- 1:09:54And he didn't do that against Luka Doncic last year and that's
- 1:09:56why they lost against The Mavericks and he's not doing it
- 1:09:59right now against OKC. But again, it's still early and
- 1:10:03anything is possible. Anyways, that's it for a show.
- 1:10:05Thank you to all the fans. Thank you to our friend Eric
