- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppus and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What
- 0:34Speaker 1: a folk. This is Michael Bumpus along with Nasa Choby
- 0:37Speaker 1: and this is the Hag Talk preview regular season open.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's getting real. We're playing football this week, Nash. Let's go.
- 0:45Speaker 1: This is real life, man. I mean, through this pandemic
- 0:47Speaker 1: and everything that we're going through, I am so excited
- 0:49Speaker 1: to be talking about a real game on Sunday. We're
- 0:53Speaker 1: not talking to my games. We're not talking no practice,
- 0:55Speaker 1: no you know, contacting the ration period. We are talking football,
- 1:00Speaker 1: real NFL football, man. Let's go real NFL football. I'm
- 1:03Speaker 1: amped up, you're amped up, so let's talk. Let's get
- 1:06Speaker 1: right into it. Let's talk about the Seattle Seahawks, how
- 1:08Speaker 1: they look in twenty twenty and who they kept. So
- 1:12Speaker 1: they retained Jarren Reid, Jordan Timmas, Nicol Thorpe who is
- 1:15Speaker 1: still a captain on the special Team's Union, which I
- 1:18Speaker 1: thought was dope, Mike you Potty, Luke Wilson, David Moore,
- 1:21Speaker 1: Jacob Hollister, and then the man flash himself, Josh Gordon
- 1:25Speaker 1: has been resigned. What are your thoughts on the guys
- 1:29Speaker 1: that they retained, do they take him to the next level?
- 1:32Speaker 1: What do you see in this group? Well, it's been
- 1:35Speaker 1: big man. I mean, we'll start with the first guy
- 1:36Speaker 1: you mentioned and Jaren Reid. Like you know, in twenty eighteen,
- 1:39Speaker 1: he had ten sacks, had the best season his career,
- 1:41Speaker 1: a guy that's been doing it and been a big
- 1:43Speaker 1: part of this locker room and his team. So I'm
- 1:45Speaker 1: really excited about him. And last year obviously he didn't
- 1:47Speaker 1: start the season, he came in after six games. So
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm looking for him to come back to that twenty
- 1:52Speaker 1: twenty eighteen form and just kind of perform, really help
- 1:55Speaker 1: bring the pressure from the inside, and I'm looking for
- 1:58Speaker 1: him to have a really big breakout. Ye you know
- 2:00Speaker 1: what you're getting from the other guys. Man Nico Thorpe
- 2:02Speaker 1: is the life in this locker room, the man gets
- 2:05Speaker 1: after on special team's good depth in the secondary. Mike
- 2:08Speaker 1: you Potty, he's an og. We've seen what he's been
- 2:11Speaker 1: doing for years. He's still gonna be good. He stays healthy.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And then Luke Wilson another guy that I'm super excited about,
- 2:18Speaker 1: just because again he's like Nico Thorpe, the energy he
- 2:20Speaker 1: brings to this team. He knows the system. He's been
- 2:22Speaker 1: here for so long, so he's definitely gonna help a
- 2:24Speaker 1: really talented tight end room. And Jacob Hollister and then
- 2:27Speaker 1: Josh Gordon hopefully we'll get to see him soon. So
- 2:29Speaker 1: I feel good about those guys. What about you? Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I feel good about it. Jarren Red he needs to
- 2:33Speaker 1: pop and he needs the ball this year. I mean,
- 2:34Speaker 1: there's only three three D bad defensive tackle at that
- 2:37Speaker 1: position as of now. You assume they're gonna have some
- 2:39Speaker 1: guys to that spot up the season goes along, or
- 2:41Speaker 1: bring out from practice squad, whatever, they're gonna make moves there.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But Jarren Red needs to go and he has a
- 2:45Speaker 1: full off season kind of a full off season because
- 2:47Speaker 1: no OTAs or whatnot. But he's had a full camp,
- 2:50Speaker 1: he's there, he's ready to go. The guy was worried
- 2:52Speaker 1: about out of that group was Luke Wilson. I wasn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: sure what they were gonna do with Luke Wilson because
- 2:57Speaker 1: you have Greg Olsen, you goat Jacob all this straight.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Don't forget Uncle Will. I wasn't sure if they're gonna
- 3:02Speaker 1: carry forward tight ends. They're carrying forward. That's nice to see.
- 3:05Speaker 1: If they didn't carry for I'm sure they would try
- 3:07Speaker 1: to get Luke on the practice squad. And David Moore.
- 3:10Speaker 1: David Moore Man, he's been one of the most consistent
- 3:14Speaker 1: receivers during this camp and one of the least talked
- 3:16Speaker 1: about at the same time, because you have DK, you
- 3:19Speaker 1: have Lockett, then you bring in Philip doors set and
- 3:21Speaker 1: you're just thinking your focus is on those guys. And
- 3:25Speaker 1: Demo is being consistent. He's been humble, he's been quiet,
- 3:28Speaker 1: he's been going out and making play. So I'm happy
- 3:30Speaker 1: to see that dude get another opportunity. I think he
- 3:32Speaker 1: can get it done. So I like the group. So
- 3:34Speaker 1: now let's switch over to the guys that they added,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna save the best for last. Okay, we're gonna
- 3:38Speaker 1: Carlos High coming off a thousand yard season, Greg Ohs
- 3:41Speaker 1: some triple og, b J Finney, who is supposed to
- 3:44Speaker 1: battle for that center spot, Cedric Oh boy they got
- 3:47Speaker 1: from the Jacks, Brandon Shell who's holding down that tackle spot.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Quentin Dunbar. We were kind of suspect is he gonna
- 3:53Speaker 1: be here or not? And then Philip Doors set last
- 3:55Speaker 1: but not least, the guy who's made the biggest impact
- 3:58Speaker 1: on this defense so far this year, Jamal Adams, what
- 4:00Speaker 1: are your thoughts, man, Well, when you talk about that
- 4:02Speaker 1: group of guys. Honestly, Jamal Adams, I don't want to
- 4:05Speaker 1: get ahead of myself, but that man immediately brings us
- 4:08Speaker 1: to probably the best secondary, if not one of the
- 4:11Speaker 1: best in the NFL. I mean, straight up, watching this
- 4:14Speaker 1: guy up close at practice, I mean he just, first
- 4:16Speaker 1: of all, the juice he brings is unreal. It's unparalleled, man,
- 4:20Speaker 1: It's it's some stuff I feel like we haven't seen
- 4:21Speaker 1: around here outside of guys like Bobby Wagner on that
- 4:24Speaker 1: defensive side. And what we're gonna be able to have
- 4:26Speaker 1: him do. I mean, we don't really know, we're probably
- 4:28Speaker 1: gonna see it at all, whether it's in pass rush,
- 4:30Speaker 1: whether it's you know, in the box, whether it's making
- 4:33Speaker 1: plays in the back end as a deep safety. So
- 4:35Speaker 1: Jamal Adams is someone that I think you pair him
- 4:38Speaker 1: with Shaquille Griffin, Trey Flowers, Slash, Quentin Dunbar Quandre Diggs,
- 4:42Speaker 1: who they both already have a great relationship, I mean honestly,
- 4:45Speaker 1: top to bottom. I think that makes us one of
- 4:46Speaker 1: the best secondaries in the league. And then you talked
- 4:49Speaker 1: about a couple of other guys, Greg Olsen. You know
- 4:51Speaker 1: what he's going to get with Greg Man. Greg is
- 4:53Speaker 1: a true professional on and off the field. He's been
- 4:57Speaker 1: battled some injuries the last couple of years, but if
- 4:59Speaker 1: he can stay healthy like he's done so far in camp,
- 5:01Speaker 1: he's gonna really bolster that room. And then you bring
- 5:04Speaker 1: in a guy like Brandon Schell, who has been holding
- 5:06Speaker 1: it down. He came in here and he essentially took
- 5:09Speaker 1: that starting job and he's gonna ride with it. So
- 5:11Speaker 1: like I love the guys they added, I think it
- 5:13Speaker 1: really is a huge improvement from last season. Yeah, I agree,
- 5:16Speaker 1: Jamal Adams was gonna change the game in the back end.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I forgot to mention Ben to Mayo and Bruce Irvin.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That's what twelve thirteen sacks right there, you can talk
- 5:24Speaker 1: about this team had twenty eight sacks like sure, the
- 5:26Speaker 1: bottom of the barrel along with the Atlanta Falcons and
- 5:29Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions. Gotta get up out of here, gotta
- 5:31Speaker 1: get out out the bottom of the league. Ben to
- 5:33Speaker 1: Mayo and Bruce Irvin should be the guys. Do that.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You talk about Bruce Irvin, all, he's old, he's this,
- 5:38Speaker 1: he's that, he's coming off his best year as a
- 5:40Speaker 1: professional nass. You talk about ben to Mayoa, Oh, we
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't know what he can do. He had seven a
- 5:45Speaker 1: half sacks as a rotational guy for the Raiders. So
- 5:49Speaker 1: they didn't sign the big names that the Twelves were
- 5:51Speaker 1: looking for, but they did get better on the defense
- 5:55Speaker 1: on that defensive line well, especially too with Bruce Irvin's
- 5:58Speaker 1: he's kind of the jack of all trades. He can
- 6:00Speaker 1: well have him listened at Sam so he can do
- 6:02Speaker 1: that in the lineback and stuff, and he's gonna be
- 6:03Speaker 1: a big part of the pass rush. He's been in
- 6:05Speaker 1: the system, he's been around Pete, he's been around the
- 6:07Speaker 1: guy So I think those guys and it's all kind
- 6:09Speaker 1: of by committee, right, because if you look at the
- 6:11Speaker 1: defensive line, I would look for L. J. Collier to
- 6:14Speaker 1: step up big this year, right, I would look for
- 6:16Speaker 1: Rashie Green to take another step poona Ford. He's shown
- 6:19Speaker 1: some flashes. So I think it's gonna be by committee.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We kind of get all hung up on the numbers.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Is so and so we can get ten and so
- 6:24Speaker 1: and so we can get twelve? Where those big time
- 6:26Speaker 1: numbers is gonna come from? Since we lost like Frank Clark.
- 6:28Speaker 1: But I think they're gonna get it done by committee.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And we already talked about the secondary a little bit.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I think having a stronger secondary is gonna help that
- 6:34Speaker 1: whole unit. Yep, I agree. And here's a perfect example
- 6:38Speaker 1: about why a village the village approach works. Name one
- 6:44Speaker 1: guy on the Panthers defensive line, Julius Peppers ain't playing
- 6:50Speaker 1: there no more. Right, Okay, that's some last one I
- 6:54Speaker 1: can remember. No disrespect to the Panthers, but they had
- 6:57Speaker 1: over fifty sacks and nobody knows who's on their D line. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's the approach that these Seahawks have to take. No
- 7:03Speaker 1: One knows this is all good, but by week eight nine,
- 7:06Speaker 1: make some noise and have them talking about you. All right,
- 7:09Speaker 1: So now let's talk about the key departures. Justin Britt
- 7:12Speaker 1: is out of here. They cut him after his injury,
- 7:15Speaker 1: but he was lingering around. He was living in Belvy,
- 7:17Speaker 1: who was working out. People thought that he might show
- 7:20Speaker 1: up again. George Stannis gone, Jamaa Fettie, Bradley McDougall was
- 7:23Speaker 1: involved with the trade for Jamal Adams. Quentin Jefferson is gone,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and sorry to see him go, But I'm just glad
- 7:30Speaker 1: that it's over because I was tired of hearing about it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Jadeveon clown out of those guys, obviously, we're gonna miss
- 7:37Speaker 1: Clowney the most, just because of the things that he
- 7:39Speaker 1: did that people didn't really recognize because it didn't show
- 7:42Speaker 1: up on a stat sheet. Who else are you gonna
- 7:44Speaker 1: miss out of that group? Well, I mean all those
- 7:47Speaker 1: were good locker room dudes. For sure. I think I'm
- 7:49Speaker 1: gonna miss out of that group. We missed Justin Britt
- 7:52Speaker 1: and George fan. I think Justin Britt when he first
- 7:54Speaker 1: came to the Seahawks, he's playing tackohol and then he
- 7:57Speaker 1: moved to guard, but he really kind of found himself
- 7:59Speaker 1: at center, and he kind of stepped up when the
- 8:01Speaker 1: young offensive line kind of needed a leader. Now he
- 8:03Speaker 1: got Dwayne Brown in there. Now he got you Potty,
- 8:05Speaker 1: You got some other veterans. But I just kind of
- 8:07Speaker 1: like the way he carried himself and he turned himself
- 8:09Speaker 1: into a Pro Bowl type player. And then George Fantman,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna miss hearing number seventy four is eligible. Number
- 8:16Speaker 1: seventy four is eligible. I'm gonna miss hearing that man.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He just did so much good stuff for us, and
- 8:20Speaker 1: I loved having that package that we had with him
- 8:22Speaker 1: where he'd come in as an extra tight end all
- 8:25Speaker 1: that stuff. So those are two guys I'm gonna miss
- 8:27Speaker 1: for sure. But like I said, I think now with
- 8:29Speaker 1: the offensive line that we got and the guys who
- 8:31Speaker 1: got in place, I feel kind of dead about how
- 8:33Speaker 1: we're doing. Out of those guys, I'm gonna miss McDougal
- 8:35Speaker 1: the most. I just there was like a calming presence
- 8:37Speaker 1: about McDougal in the back. He wasn't going to light
- 8:41Speaker 1: it up, but he was going to make the tackle.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He wasn't going to cause a lot of turnovers, but
- 8:45Speaker 1: he was going to be around the ball. He was
- 8:47Speaker 1: like one of those constants on that back end that
- 8:50Speaker 1: kind of gets lost in the mix because he's not
- 8:52Speaker 1: gonna wild you with a super athletic player anything like that.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But he was one of the most veteran back there,
- 8:58Speaker 1: one of the most confident. It just a calming presence.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So I'm gonna miss that, dude. MacDougal, So season preview, all,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I what can we expect from the Hawks in twenty twenty?
- 9:08Speaker 1: This is what I expect, and I'll let you dive
- 9:10Speaker 1: into it. I expect this offense to take another level
- 9:14Speaker 1: because Russell's going to take another level. He's never got
- 9:17Speaker 1: an MVP vote, He's never finished the season with a
- 9:21Speaker 1: seventy seventy percent completion rate or better. So I think
- 9:24Speaker 1: he's chasing something. He always finds something to chase, right,
- 9:27Speaker 1: So I think he knows that, and I think he
- 9:30Speaker 1: is going to chase that. And because he's chasing that,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this team is going to get better offensively, amongst a
- 9:35Speaker 1: bunch of other things. I think about the Sea twenty twenty.
- 9:38Speaker 1: What are your thoughts? Well, I am right there with you, man.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I think I think if any year. This is year
- 9:43Speaker 1: Russell Wilson can get that MVP. Man. I mean, through
- 9:45Speaker 1: about ten games last year, he was the clear candidate.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And then it's hard to account for Lamar Jackson having
- 9:50Speaker 1: the unbelievable season he had last year. So I can't
- 9:53Speaker 1: take anything away from that man. But our guy Arrist
- 9:55Speaker 1: we know at number three can do so I'm right
- 9:56Speaker 1: there with you. I think for me, our offense was
- 9:59Speaker 1: the strength the team last year, right, we had a
- 10:01Speaker 1: great running game. Obviously Number three was amazing last year.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I think our defense returns to the level that we're
- 10:08Speaker 1: accustomed of seeing it. Right. So I'm not saying legendary
- 10:12Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, you know, LB Super Bowl champion, per se,
- 10:16Speaker 1: but I'm saying they have the guys now that can
- 10:19Speaker 1: get there. We mentioned a little bit ago the secondary
- 10:22Speaker 1: billing built from the back forward man between our safeties
- 10:25Speaker 1: to that tannem Is vessinally Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams. Then
- 10:29Speaker 1: you got you got some lockdown corps on the outside.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Jaquille Griffin is gonna take another step I look forward
- 10:34Speaker 1: and be more of a He's gonna be a Pro
- 10:35Speaker 1: Bowl guy. This year's just straight up. Then Llyflowers and
- 10:38Speaker 1: Quentin Dunbar. Then you go to linebacking corps. We know
- 10:40Speaker 1: what we got from Bobby in kJ and then young
- 10:43Speaker 1: guys stepping up front. So I think this defense isn't
- 10:45Speaker 1: gonna get too level. They're gonna climb back inside the
- 10:47Speaker 1: top ten and all those defensive categories back inside the
- 10:51Speaker 1: top ten. That will be awesome. When you have on
- 10:52Speaker 1: offense that at some point one point in the season
- 10:54Speaker 1: was a top five offensive, you can get a defense
- 10:57Speaker 1: that's top ten as well. That'd be awesome. The twenty
- 11:00Speaker 1: eighth last year, so they got a lot of a lot,
- 11:02Speaker 1: a lot of room to make up, but I think
- 11:04Speaker 1: they can do it all. Right. Where did the Seahawks
- 11:07Speaker 1: improve the most from last year? The most? Um, I mean,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I was just I mean, I feel like I keep
- 11:13Speaker 1: beating the drum. But it's it's defensively, It's it's in
- 11:16Speaker 1: the secondary. Man. I think they're just gonna cause havoc
- 11:18Speaker 1: in there. The thing that made the Seahawks really good
- 11:21Speaker 1: from two and twelve to twenty sixteen was their ability
- 11:24Speaker 1: to take the ball away, and I think that's coming back. Yep.
- 11:28Speaker 1: If that's where they improved the most, I would say
- 11:30Speaker 1: second behind that would be that offensive line. People are
- 11:33Speaker 1: excited in this organization about this offensive line. On the
- 11:36Speaker 1: left side. You got Brown, you got you potty post
- 11:39Speaker 1: against one of the center spot. You got Damian Lewis
- 11:41Speaker 1: as a rookie who's in there turning heads. You hear
- 11:44Speaker 1: um Dwayne Brown talk about how he's smart. You can
- 11:46Speaker 1: tell he's studied. And then you bring in Shell at
- 11:48Speaker 1: that tackle spot. Shell is not a sexy name where
- 11:52Speaker 1: everyone's like, oh, he's so much better than the fetty.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But let me remind people that he had half the
- 11:57Speaker 1: abilities that Effetti had, and Effetti played every game. He
- 12:00Speaker 1: was reliable, he was there, but every now and then
- 12:02Speaker 1: you stretch your head and be like, all right, what
- 12:03Speaker 1: was he thinking. You got to control that that aggression
- 12:06Speaker 1: and put it somewhere. So, uh yeah, I would say
- 12:08Speaker 1: that offensive line comes after that. So it was different
- 12:11Speaker 1: during training camp this year. Um, we weren't able to
- 12:14Speaker 1: be there the way we wanted. Two guys like you
- 12:16Speaker 1: who has that Tier three, Tier two Okay, I'm sorry
- 12:21Speaker 1: Tier two you got some more access than us, But
- 12:24Speaker 1: explain to us how how was this camp different than
- 12:28Speaker 1: other years. Well, obviously the number one thing is not
- 12:30Speaker 1: seen that twelves out on the burn, man, I mean,
- 12:32Speaker 1: Seahawks training camp is a different experience in anywhere else
- 12:35Speaker 1: in the country. You're right there on Lake Washington. It's beautiful,
- 12:38Speaker 1: the sun still out. You got about three thousand fans
- 12:41Speaker 1: on that burn, screaming, yelling, waiting for autographs, DJ, Super Sam,
- 12:44Speaker 1: all that stuff. So that was definitely the biggest thing
- 12:47Speaker 1: for me you noticed right away, which is kind of
- 12:49Speaker 1: a different vibe. And then just all the protocols and
- 12:51Speaker 1: stuff that their players had to do. Man, they had
- 12:53Speaker 1: to they gotta wear contact tracing chips, they gotta they
- 12:57Speaker 1: had to change how they lifted, they had a change
- 12:59Speaker 1: how they did all this stuff. That had a changed
- 13:00Speaker 1: how they met in meetings and stuff like that. But
- 13:02Speaker 1: they did all the right things. And as Pete aways
- 13:05Speaker 1: sucks about, you competed everything. They competed in how the
- 13:07Speaker 1: best they're going to handle this pandemic. So it was
- 13:10Speaker 1: a weird time. And then obviously the last thing is
- 13:12Speaker 1: no preseason games. M And you can speak to this man,
- 13:15Speaker 1: it's it's it's so difficult for the coaching staff and
- 13:17Speaker 1: the players. But could you I mean, where would you
- 13:19Speaker 1: have been if there's no preseason. If there's no preseason, nass,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm not here talking to you right now. I don't
- 13:25Speaker 1: make this football team. You know, you asked me as
- 13:29Speaker 1: a thirty four year old man, a guy who could
- 13:31Speaker 1: be real with himself, like okay, like you were good,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but you weren't like superstar good. And if you didn't
- 13:37Speaker 1: have that preseason, you wouldn't even have a chance to
- 13:39Speaker 1: show that you can catch punts or that you can
- 13:41Speaker 1: go across the middle and catch the football. So it's
- 13:44Speaker 1: stuff on those rookies. That's why no undrafted free agents
- 13:46Speaker 1: were signed, because they just don't know what they can do.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Are they're gonna roll the dice on these guys, And
- 13:53Speaker 1: that right there just shows how hard the evaluation process
- 13:56Speaker 1: was on these guys because guarantee they missed on somebody.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And to you, other organizations missed on guys because they're
- 14:03Speaker 1: scared to roll the dice on something they haven't seen
- 14:05Speaker 1: in live play. So yeah, that was rough on those rookies.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I feel for them. Those those veterans who are on
- 14:10Speaker 1: the bubble are loving it. I'm sure though they're loving like,
- 14:13Speaker 1: hey man, I don't have this twenty four year old
- 14:15Speaker 1: trying to take my spot because I got three four
- 14:17Speaker 1: years of film. So yes, definitely tough. We any camp surprised,
- 14:22Speaker 1: Does anybody jump out and say, Okay, I wasn't expecting
- 14:24Speaker 1: him the ball out, but here he is, and now
- 14:27Speaker 1: I know his name and I'm gonna follow us. Dude.
- 14:29Speaker 1: We we kind of talked about this earlier in camp,
- 14:31Speaker 1: and it's Penny hart Man. He was a surprise. He
- 14:34Speaker 1: wasn't initially part of the original fifty three. Hey, let
- 14:37Speaker 1: me tell the people. You called it NASA show. He
- 14:40Speaker 1: called it. I say, Nash, this is like beginning of camp.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I go, Nash, anybody I should be looking after him?
- 14:45Speaker 1: He said, you know what, bump, Penny Heart's out there
- 14:47Speaker 1: doing this thing. So you were right. Continue, sir. I
- 14:50Speaker 1: appreciate that. I appreciate the little love love right there,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But no, Penny hart Man
- 14:54Speaker 1: like he's a smaller guy. He's just a guy that
- 14:58Speaker 1: just makes place. I mean. And that's the thing I
- 15:00Speaker 1: think you when you look at the pro personnel and
- 15:02Speaker 1: Josh Snyder and Pete Carroll, if you compete and you
- 15:05Speaker 1: show what you can do and you're given that chance,
- 15:07Speaker 1: you're gonna get a spot. And he did it every
- 15:09Speaker 1: single day. It didn't matter if it was a team period,
- 15:11Speaker 1: didn't matter if they're going against the ones, didn't matter
- 15:13Speaker 1: if they're going against the twos. It didn't matter any situation.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Penny was out there. He was making plays, and I
- 15:18Speaker 1: look for him to be a guy you know that
- 15:20Speaker 1: just finds his way to help out the team because
- 15:22Speaker 1: he's one of those guys, is a big team guy.
- 15:25Speaker 1: He's someone that all twelve should keep an eye on.
- 15:28Speaker 1: My guy, Penny Hard is going to be making plays,
- 15:31Speaker 1: so just keep him in the back of your mind.
- 15:32Speaker 1: This year, Penny Hard, I would say not a surprise
- 15:35Speaker 1: because he was drafted, but he was drafted lay Freddie Swain,
- 15:38Speaker 1: that was my guy. Or I was like, look, you
- 15:40Speaker 1: have to watch this dude. Now. He was hurt for
- 15:43Speaker 1: a couple of days during camp, but you hear about
- 15:46Speaker 1: how he can play any position, how he's a positive dude,
- 15:50Speaker 1: all the things that Pete Carroll looks for. How can
- 15:53Speaker 1: you contribute to the team. Now, he can contribute to
- 15:55Speaker 1: special teams. He can play every position, and what's your attitude?
- 15:58Speaker 1: Like Freddie Swayin was my guy. I wouldn't call it
- 16:01Speaker 1: a surprise, but being a what six stepth round pick,
- 16:04Speaker 1: sixth round pick. Um. He exceeded expectations. So offense Outlook
- 16:12Speaker 1: here here's a question. Will we let Russ cook this year? Well,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you know what, nass, dude's been cooking his whole life,
- 16:20Speaker 1: all right, and this is why he's been This is
- 16:22Speaker 1: why he's been cooking. Okay, first nine seasons and be
- 16:26Speaker 1: any quarterback and all the land that played in the NFL.
- 16:29Speaker 1: When it comes to wins, Russell Wilson is fourth with
- 16:31Speaker 1: eighty six, behind Tom Brady, Rothslisberger and Mannie. Now he's
- 16:36Speaker 1: only had eight seasons. He's got two more seasons to
- 16:39Speaker 1: beat that. Something tells me he's gonna pass him up
- 16:41Speaker 1: this year right now? Oh yeah. I mean the thing
- 16:43Speaker 1: about Russ's he's just been mister consistent from day one, man,
- 16:47Speaker 1: And everyone wants to talk about what are we doing?
- 16:49Speaker 1: And we're gonna let him cook and we're gonna throw
- 16:51Speaker 1: fifty toimes of game blah blah blah. The man has
- 16:54Speaker 1: been cooking since he stepped foot in this building and
- 16:57Speaker 1: on the football field since that third preseason game in
- 17:00Speaker 1: two thou twelve. The man has been cooking. Nah, but
- 17:04Speaker 1: he's not He's not throwing it forty fifty times though
- 17:06Speaker 1: he's not. He'sn't he hasn't he hasn't thrown over thirty
- 17:10Speaker 1: six touchdowns. Yet. I mean, I get people when they
- 17:13Speaker 1: the average football fan, to be like, all right, they're
- 17:16Speaker 1: not letting him do his thing. But he throws the
- 17:20Speaker 1: most efficient deep ball in the game. He over the
- 17:24Speaker 1: first nine seasons of any quarterback's career, he is one
- 17:27Speaker 1: to the fifth on the list. As far as touchdown passes,
- 17:30Speaker 1: he's still got one season ago. Most games will four
- 17:33Speaker 1: plus touchdown passes and one fewer intersections. In the first
- 17:36Speaker 1: nine seasons, he has ten paid Manning has thirteen. So
- 17:41Speaker 1: he has shown right now, if he were to retire,
- 17:45Speaker 1: something were to happen, he would be on a Hall
- 17:47Speaker 1: of Fame ballot. And he's been cooking since he's been here,
- 17:50Speaker 1: oh for sure. And I think we get soaked twisted
- 17:53Speaker 1: in some of those numbers, because you're right, it's not
- 17:55Speaker 1: it's not five hundred. There's not five thousand yards in this,
- 17:58Speaker 1: it's not forty five touchdown, it's not some of these numbers.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But you just gotta look at all of it, all
- 18:03Speaker 1: of it together. You look at his winning percentage. You
- 18:06Speaker 1: look at what he does in the fourth quarter. You
- 18:07Speaker 1: look at his come from behind wins, and he gets
- 18:10Speaker 1: it done when it counts. And and let me tell
- 18:13Speaker 1: you something, we're probably gonna touch on this a little bit.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Our receivers. Russ is going to continue to do him,
- 18:19Speaker 1: but numbers are going to be put up all across
- 18:21Speaker 1: the board. To promise you, everybody, all the twelve listening,
- 18:24Speaker 1: my boy has been cooking and he's gonna continue to cook,
- 18:27Speaker 1: continue to cook. So let's talk about these skill players. Okay,
- 18:30Speaker 1: he's got Chris Carson and Carlos Hide both rush for
- 18:33Speaker 1: a thousand yards last year. You got DK and lock
- 18:36Speaker 1: it DK nine hundred yards, lock it over a thousand.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That third receiver spot looks like it's gonna be David
- 18:41Speaker 1: Moore to start nil. The door says, gonna be in
- 18:43Speaker 1: the mix. Greg Olsen, you bring him in At that
- 18:46Speaker 1: tight end spot. You're getting Will Disley back, who was
- 18:49Speaker 1: one of the hottest tight ends in the league. He's
- 18:52Speaker 1: played in ten ten games, I believe you, six touchdowns,
- 18:57Speaker 1: ten games, six touchdowns, super efficient. Is this the most
- 19:01Speaker 1: skilled or the most talented skills he's had since he's
- 19:06Speaker 1: been here? You know, I thought about that a lot
- 19:09Speaker 1: and wrote that question down, and I'm leaning towards yes,
- 19:11Speaker 1: just because I think Dk metcalf is gonna have an
- 19:14Speaker 1: unbelievable sophomore season. I mean, you watched him out of practice,
- 19:18Speaker 1: the balls in the air. He's coming down with it,
- 19:20Speaker 1: Quayne Blank period. And I think you guys talked to
- 19:23Speaker 1: him on Danny and Gallant on seven ten ESPN, and
- 19:27Speaker 1: when he was on there, you asked him what you
- 19:28Speaker 1: asking me, asked him about being a receiver, and he
- 19:30Speaker 1: put me in He put me in my place. Hey Dk,
- 19:33Speaker 1: Hey Dk, you play outside? You getting that slide? The
- 19:37Speaker 1: young man said, I'm a receiver. I said, thank you, sir,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I appreciate you have a great day. And that's the
- 19:43Speaker 1: right answer. So I think he's going to be a monster.
- 19:45Speaker 1: We know what Tyler can. Tyler put up over a
- 19:47Speaker 1: thousand yards last year, and if that man didn't get hurt,
- 19:49Speaker 1: he was gonna I think he was gonna set the
- 19:51Speaker 1: record for receiving yards in a season and Seahawks history.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Then you talk about Chris Carson looking for his third
- 19:57Speaker 1: one thousand yards season, and obviously so people will say
- 20:00Speaker 1: you're geting ahead of yourself. Okay, let's took back at
- 20:01Speaker 1: twenty thirteen. Obviously at mark un Lynch, you had Golden Tate,
- 20:05Speaker 1: you had Sidney Rice, you had Zach Miller, you had
- 20:08Speaker 1: Jermaine Curse, Stuck Baldwin. I'm not saying the group right
- 20:12Speaker 1: now is for sure better than those guys because their
- 20:15Speaker 1: banners are hanging in centralink Field and here at the vMac. Ye.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But what I'm seeing on paper and what these guys
- 20:21Speaker 1: can do if we have we can have two thousand
- 20:22Speaker 1: yard receivers, a thousand yard rusher you talked about Will Disley,
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'll get our running games gonna be. I don't know, man,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I think it's definitely in the conversation to at least
- 20:31Speaker 1: consider this being the most talented group of offensive players
- 20:34Speaker 1: bump as of now. They are definitely in the conversation.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Whether whether they stay there or they are they conversation,
- 20:41Speaker 1: we shall see. That's why we played, That's why we
- 20:43Speaker 1: played the games. Play to win them all, right, play
- 20:46Speaker 1: to win so lots of movement on this offensive line.
- 20:49Speaker 1: They gave up what forty eight facts or something last year.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Russ has been the most stack quarterback in the last
- 20:54Speaker 1: two or three years they made some moves. There are
- 20:58Speaker 1: a couple of names that people aren't familiar with on
- 21:01Speaker 1: that offensive line. Does that matter? Do you think they
- 21:04Speaker 1: got better? I mean I think I think they got
- 21:07Speaker 1: a lot better. I think they got better at depthwise. Also,
- 21:09Speaker 1: so they brought him, We brought him b J. Finney
- 21:12Speaker 1: to compete for that center spot, and they definitely did.
- 21:14Speaker 1: But what was promising to me is what I saw
- 21:17Speaker 1: is and Pete talked about this, Ethan won the job.
- 21:20Speaker 1: It wasn't like Fenny came in and lost it. Ethan
- 21:22Speaker 1: won the job and he's been in our system for
- 21:24Speaker 1: three years. He talked about how he was getting over
- 21:27Speaker 1: some he had an injury kind of like a hip
- 21:28Speaker 1: thing that really helped with his strength in some places
- 21:31Speaker 1: when it came to pass pro and things like that.
- 21:33Speaker 1: When he got surgery offseason. He's healthy, third year in
- 21:36Speaker 1: a system and being at center kind of helps that.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And then Damian lewis Man he came in and was
- 21:42Speaker 1: in the starting lineup from the jump, So like, I
- 21:44Speaker 1: think we got dudes there, and then you just look
- 21:46Speaker 1: at the guys that are behind them. Jordan Simmons when
- 21:48Speaker 1: he played last year was great. Jamarco Jones when he
- 21:51Speaker 1: came in last year was great. Um Cedric a boy.
- 21:53Speaker 1: He is a physical dude and he was on this
- 21:56Speaker 1: team for a reason. So like I think we're I
- 21:58Speaker 1: think we got better obviously, Dwayne Brown, I don't need
- 22:00Speaker 1: to say anything about that. Man. He's a baddest man
- 22:02Speaker 1: in planet with hands down. I just think we got better.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I think our depth looks really good. What do you
- 22:06Speaker 1: think about I'm with you. You got better depth? Is there?
- 22:09Speaker 1: You still got guys like Phil Haynes, who is banged
- 22:11Speaker 1: up right now, but there's still Jamarco Jones, Jordan Simmons.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I mean they're like you said, there's some names there
- 22:17Speaker 1: that hopefully we don't see because if we don't see him,
- 22:19Speaker 1: that means that this line is healthy. They're ready to go.
- 22:21Speaker 1: But if something were to happen, they're good to go.
- 22:24Speaker 1: All right. That's the offense defensive outlook. For the first
- 22:28Speaker 1: time in several years, the secondary might be the strongest
- 22:31Speaker 1: position group on the roster. How does that make you
- 22:35Speaker 1: feel that? Does this make you feel like Shop's not
- 22:38Speaker 1: gonna throw for four hundred yards against US Week one?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Because I can't see that again. Man, No, I don't
- 22:44Speaker 1: think you don't think you will ever see any quarterback
- 22:46Speaker 1: put up any of those kind of numbers ever. Again,
- 22:48Speaker 1: that is on the shelf, that is riped. I've been
- 22:50Speaker 1: beating this drum. I'm a dB at heart, so you
- 22:54Speaker 1: know it warms my heart. Man, I just just because
- 22:57Speaker 1: they have that energy and that thump too. Everyone to
- 23:00Speaker 1: say near can hit. So like, I think it's gonna
- 23:03Speaker 1: change what we were able to do as a defense
- 23:05Speaker 1: man when we're bringing pressures and stuff like that. When
- 23:07Speaker 1: you got guys can cover all across the board. So
- 23:09Speaker 1: it makes me feel great. Man. And the name we
- 23:11Speaker 1: haven't mentioned Marque's Blair. He stepped into that nickel spot. Honestly,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I thought Ugomadi it was his spot to lose, but
- 23:18Speaker 1: from from start to camp, it's kind of been Marquis's
- 23:20Speaker 1: Blair spot to lose, and he's held onto it a
- 23:23Speaker 1: spot he's never played before and never played nickel. He's
- 23:26Speaker 1: a he's the truth safety. Um you hear. His cover
- 23:28Speaker 1: skills are good. He's flying around to the football, he
- 23:31Speaker 1: looks like he's been there. Adding him to that nickel
- 23:35Speaker 1: spot will naturally allow this defense to be more dynamic
- 23:38Speaker 1: because we know how much they stayed in that base
- 23:40Speaker 1: last year, and he's not gonna say it, but it
- 23:42Speaker 1: was because they just didn't trust their personnel. I think
- 23:45Speaker 1: Marquis Blair adds the dynamic to this defense as well. Well, yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I can't believe I don't even mentioned that. No, that's
- 23:50Speaker 1: a great point, Bump. I think Marquise in that spot
- 23:53Speaker 1: definitely just changes us dynamically because you look at a
- 23:56Speaker 1: guy that he was a safety, he'd come up there
- 23:57Speaker 1: and hit you. I mean, you remember that that season
- 24:00Speaker 1: game last year playing the Broncos. The ball over the
- 24:02Speaker 1: middle and Marquis Blair, good night. I mean, the dude
- 24:05Speaker 1: can and he made plays last time. I think we're
- 24:07Speaker 1: in Atlanta, he forced a fumble. He's just he's a dynamic,
- 24:10Speaker 1: special dude, and I think our secondary with him is
- 24:12Speaker 1: gonna be un phenomenal for sure. Yeah, sir, Now you
- 24:16Speaker 1: mentioned you need Jaron Reid to look like twenty eighteen
- 24:19Speaker 1: jarn Reid if that's the case, to get ten sacks.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So now me, I'm still calling LJ. Colly or rookie.
- 24:25Speaker 1: He's only got one hundred and fifty snaps. Yes, is
- 24:27Speaker 1: this his second year in the league, But he got
- 24:29Speaker 1: banged up during camp, Like his third day at camp,
- 24:31Speaker 1: missed a lot of stuff, so he was behind only
- 24:34Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty snaps. This dude needs to step up,
- 24:37Speaker 1: and it sounds like his mind is in the right play.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm listening to him talk and he just sounds confident,
- 24:43Speaker 1: and yes, he has to go out and prove it,
- 24:45Speaker 1: but I at least want to feel confidence coming from
- 24:48Speaker 1: a guy who was a first round pick. With their
- 24:51Speaker 1: expectations for LJ, I think LJ is gonna First of all,
- 24:54Speaker 1: I think people kind of forget how hard it was
- 24:56Speaker 1: for him last year. I mean it was like the
- 24:58Speaker 1: third practice when he had a really bad ankle sprain
- 25:00Speaker 1: and was down, and you miss your first NFL training camp,
- 25:03Speaker 1: you don't play in training camp at all, you don't
- 25:06Speaker 1: get in the preseason and do any of that stuff.
- 25:07Speaker 1: For him to come on, you're just behind the eight
- 25:09Speaker 1: ball from the jump. So I think, having you mentioned earlier,
- 25:12Speaker 1: no OTAs, I get it, no mini camp, no preseason games.
- 25:16Speaker 1: With the fact that he's been here and he came
- 25:18Speaker 1: back in unbelievable shape, I'm looking for him to make
- 25:22Speaker 1: a lot of headway this year. I'm looking for him
- 25:24Speaker 1: to get be active inside and out, get some sacks,
- 25:26Speaker 1: and then he's gonna be a part of a rotation.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna ask him to play, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: ninety percent of the snaps. I think it's gonna be
- 25:33Speaker 1: by committee. But I do look for him to have
- 25:35Speaker 1: a breakout year in year two. All Right, Falcon's preview.
- 25:38Speaker 1: These guys were seven to nine last year. They finished
- 25:40Speaker 1: third place in the NFC South. The thing about the
- 25:42Speaker 1: Falcons that kind of scared me. You look at that record,
- 25:44Speaker 1: but these dudes were six and two their last eight games,
- 25:47Speaker 1: Like they got hot. They started one to seven, finished
- 25:50Speaker 1: sixth and two, almost came back and beat the Hots.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I think the Hawks are up twenty twenty to zero,
- 25:56Speaker 1: twenty four to zero, a half that came back, finished
- 25:58Speaker 1: the game twenty seven twenty four, something like that. But
- 26:00Speaker 1: they got hot late in the season. So I see
- 26:03Speaker 1: the record, and I don't really pay attention to it.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I look at what I've seen on film. These guys
- 26:08Speaker 1: look dangerous. Key matchups Shaquille Griffin, Trey Flowers, Quinn Dunbar
- 26:12Speaker 1: versus Julio Jones. Ninety nine receptions, thirteen hundred yards, six touchdowns.
- 26:18Speaker 1: The guy can catch a screen, he can catch a
- 26:20Speaker 1: go a post, go across the middle. And I say
- 26:23Speaker 1: this lightly, this is what I hope DK can be.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I'm watching film on this dude, and they move kind
- 26:30Speaker 1: of the same. I would say Julio is a little
- 26:32Speaker 1: more flexible than than DK, but they'll do some things.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I look at that stride, I look at the way
- 26:37Speaker 1: they run across the middle mic and are we looking
- 26:40Speaker 1: at what DK can be? But Julio is a guy
- 26:42Speaker 1: you gotta pay attention to, right, Oh, without question? I
- 26:44Speaker 1: mean I think it's pretty it's pretty a consensus I
- 26:47Speaker 1: think across the league that Julio is the number one receiver.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I think the next I mean, I shouldn't take an
- 26:52Speaker 1: sence he's at least one or two. Right, Hopkins is
- 26:55Speaker 1: maybe in there, but like he Yeah, we know what
- 26:57Speaker 1: he can do. He's literally everything on their team. And
- 26:59Speaker 1: I should to put this in the matchups as well,
- 27:01Speaker 1: not only Julio, but can't Calvin Ridley. He had sixty
- 27:05Speaker 1: three receptions, added eight hundred and sixty six yards and
- 27:07Speaker 1: seven touds. So those dudes with Matt Ryan, that's that's
- 27:10Speaker 1: what they're gonna if we're gonna win this game. It's
- 27:13Speaker 1: stopping those guys. It's our secondary matching up. And hey,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you don't get an easy slouch week one. You're going
- 27:20Speaker 1: from the jump. Oh no, you're gonna get tested. This
- 27:23Speaker 1: was the third number three passing team in the NFL
- 27:26Speaker 1: last year, number five in total yards, so you're gonna
- 27:29Speaker 1: get tested early, especially throwing the football. Now, the other
- 27:32Speaker 1: side of this thing is their run game. Their run
- 27:35Speaker 1: game was horrible last year. They're the third to last
- 27:38Speaker 1: in the NFL, average about eighty five yards a game.
- 27:40Speaker 1: The vouch of Freeman was there. They had to make
- 27:42Speaker 1: a move, and what do they do. They go and
- 27:45Speaker 1: get Todd Gurley, a guy who had an off year,
- 27:47Speaker 1: probably has some the issues. We're not quite clear on that.
- 27:50Speaker 1: We think it was, but they're not really talking too
- 27:52Speaker 1: much about it. Eight hundred and fifty seven yards last year,
- 27:55Speaker 1: twelve touchdowns. That's surprised, man. I didn't realize the dude
- 27:57Speaker 1: had twelve touchdowns last year. It was sneaky. What about
- 28:01Speaker 1: this guy is going to make this team special? Well,
- 28:06Speaker 1: I mean they didn't have like you've mentioned, they didn't
- 28:08Speaker 1: have a run game last year. And in my opinion,
- 28:11Speaker 1: Todd Gurley is still extremely talented. It is still one
- 28:14Speaker 1: of the premier running backs in this league. I mean
- 28:16Speaker 1: outside of his rushing yards, he had thirty one catches
- 28:18Speaker 1: two hundred seven yards to ts in the past game.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And if you look at the Rams twenty seventeen and
- 28:23Speaker 1: twenty eighteen, what that man can do. I mean, he's scary,
- 28:26Speaker 1: gets the ball in his hands, He's scared in the
- 28:28Speaker 1: open field. He's a matchup nightmare. You get him in
- 28:30Speaker 1: the past game in the red zone, it is tough.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I think he is still elite. Like you mentioned, we
- 28:35Speaker 1: don't really know about Tania. I think that played a role,
- 28:37Speaker 1: a factor in his time with the Rams. And why
- 28:39Speaker 1: we didn't see him there, I don't really know. But
- 28:42Speaker 1: if that man is healthy, he is a matchup. He's
- 28:44Speaker 1: gonna be matchup nightmare. He hard on our linebackers. He
- 28:47Speaker 1: can be hard on Bruce kJ Bobby Brooks, Barton, whoever's
- 28:50Speaker 1: out there. So if he if he's healthy, he is
- 28:52Speaker 1: still one of the best backs in the league. Yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and no, no disrespect to DeVonta Freema. I mean he
- 28:57Speaker 1: had a decent year. Six some of yards are rushing
- 29:00Speaker 1: four hundred yards, receiving over a thousand total of yards.
- 29:02Speaker 1: But he's not the back that this team needs because
- 29:05Speaker 1: they are a play action team. They're kind of like
- 29:07Speaker 1: the Seahawks when you look at him. They love some
- 29:09Speaker 1: play action pass. And if you're not going to be
- 29:11Speaker 1: able to run the ball in between the tackles and
- 29:12Speaker 1: suckle those linebackers, the plays in pass because that's that
- 29:15Speaker 1: much tough. Okay, so now now you gotta do what
- 29:18Speaker 1: Dante Fowler first, Dwayne Brown and Brandon Shell. Dante, this
- 29:22Speaker 1: dude wasn't a Pro bowler last year. Eleven and a
- 29:24Speaker 1: half sacks and he did not get to the Pro Bowl.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Actually came from the LA RAM Like, what is it
- 29:28Speaker 1: and what do you see in this guy? Well? I
- 29:30Speaker 1: just see a motor man. I just see a guy
- 29:32Speaker 1: that does not stop and he's he's good with his hands,
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's quick, he comes after, he comes hard off the edge.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I mean the guy had some forced fumbles. He six
- 29:40Speaker 1: passes defendant, so he's getting his arms up. He fifty
- 29:43Speaker 1: eight tackles and what touchdown? Eleven sacks? Bump, he he
- 29:46Speaker 1: goes to Pro Bowl? No Pro Bowl? I mean that's criminal,
- 29:50Speaker 1: that's criminal. But no, I mean, obviously Dwayne Brown is
- 29:54Speaker 1: as best as they come. And Brandon Chell step in
- 29:56Speaker 1: a position where he was incredibly consistent with the Jets
- 29:58Speaker 1: last year. Doesn't that get penalties? Uh? Peat and John
- 30:02Speaker 1: and everyone loved what he did with the Jets. But
- 30:04Speaker 1: that's gonna be a big thing. That's a that's a
- 30:05Speaker 1: dynamic pass rusher right there, one of the best in
- 30:07Speaker 1: the league, and they're gonna have their handsful from the jump. Yeah,
- 30:10Speaker 1: that was the guy I was hoping the Hawks were
- 30:12Speaker 1: looking at this offseason. I'm sure they did their research,
- 30:15Speaker 1: but just didn't pull the trigger. Another guy they need
- 30:17Speaker 1: to watch out for is Grady Jared seven a half
- 30:19Speaker 1: sacked and he went to the Pro ball so you know, numbers,
- 30:23Speaker 1: numbers are kind of skewed. I guess when you look
- 30:25Speaker 1: at the two but keadle baller, he's a guy that
- 30:28Speaker 1: needs to needs to be They need to pay attention
- 30:31Speaker 1: to this young man. Yeah, I think. And that's that's
- 30:33Speaker 1: the thing you mentioned earlier. We're talking about the offensive
- 30:35Speaker 1: line and it's keeping Russell Wilson up right. He's been
- 30:38Speaker 1: sacked too many times the last couple of years and
- 30:40Speaker 1: we just need to keep people off our potential hopefully
- 30:44Speaker 1: MVP quarterback and it's gonna start by checking the edges
- 30:46Speaker 1: with Fowler. All right, another matchup DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett,
- 30:51Speaker 1: and I want to say in the rest of the
- 30:53Speaker 1: gang and the rest of the game, because they're deep
- 30:54Speaker 1: at that receiver spot versus the kid at a Clemson
- 30:58Speaker 1: A J. Perrell. This guy is a special type of dB.
- 31:05Speaker 1: All's around the football, he plays with he plays with
- 31:07Speaker 1: an SEC swag. But he's in the acc you know,
- 31:11Speaker 1: he's coached by by Debom. Anybody coming out of Clemson
- 31:15Speaker 1: in the first round you gotta pay attention to, and
- 31:17Speaker 1: they're gonna He's gonna get tested early. Now, it's a
- 31:19Speaker 1: matchup we gotta pay attention to. But Dk've been here
- 31:22Speaker 1: a lot. It's been here. He's the new guy on
- 31:24Speaker 1: the block, and I hope they go after him. You
- 31:26Speaker 1: gotta test them early, right, Oh, absolutely. And when you
- 31:29Speaker 1: have a quarterback who throws, without question, the best deep
- 31:32Speaker 1: ball in the NFL, I look for that early. I
- 31:34Speaker 1: look for an early play. Actually, didn't get your feet
- 31:36Speaker 1: wet and attack him early. I mean, you're you're a
- 31:39Speaker 1: rookie coming into your first game. There's no fans in
- 31:42Speaker 1: the stands. It's just a weird kind of environment. You're
- 31:45Speaker 1: trying to figure it out. You haven't had any preseason,
- 31:47Speaker 1: You've had a couple of mount games. It's not the
- 31:49Speaker 1: same thing. So yeah, i'd look for a shott he
- 31:51Speaker 1: those guys to test them early, test them early, and
- 31:54Speaker 1: test them often. All right, So now the path to victory?
- 31:58Speaker 1: What do these guys need to do to be successful
- 32:02Speaker 1: in the ATL on Sunday? The first one to shake
- 32:05Speaker 1: off the rust? Right, it's been a long time since
- 32:07Speaker 1: anyone who's played a real football games. You gotta shake
- 32:09Speaker 1: off the rust and you got to stimulate yourself because
- 32:12Speaker 1: there is no crowd, right, there is there is no
- 32:15Speaker 1: one you can bounce energy off of. It. It's you
- 32:17Speaker 1: and your boys going to atl to get a job done.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for sure. And it's and I think that's
- 32:22Speaker 1: that's that's number one. It's like, where do you bring
- 32:24Speaker 1: your energy from? We know these are professionals, we know
- 32:26Speaker 1: these are grown men. And if you're talking to Dave Wyman,
- 32:28Speaker 1: he will tell you no one comes out flat. They're
- 32:30Speaker 1: all professional blah blah blah. Ye. I'll pay to do
- 32:32Speaker 1: a job. But this is unpresidented man, this is something
- 32:35Speaker 1: that has never been done before, So it's about who
- 32:38Speaker 1: can bring the energy from the jump and it's within
- 32:40Speaker 1: you know. You know, the atmosphere is kind of gonna
- 32:43Speaker 1: be like jav football on a Wednesday. I mean, it's like, Yep,
- 32:47Speaker 1: your boys are hyped, but it's just y'all. You know.
- 32:50Speaker 1: You might have you might have fifteen people in the
- 32:53Speaker 1: stands here in every comment or anything that goes on,
- 32:56Speaker 1: But this is JAV football atmosphere with NFL dudes out there,
- 33:01Speaker 1: So that's gonna be interesting. Another path of victory is tackle.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Other than the mob games, this is the first time
- 33:07Speaker 1: they're gonna be able to wrap those up and take
- 33:09Speaker 1: them to the ground and not worry about their health
- 33:12Speaker 1: or their well being. They're gonna be able to let
- 33:14Speaker 1: loose and because of that, there are gonna be mistakes.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I would expect to see mistackles. I would expect to
- 33:19Speaker 1: see a little bit of sloppy play in the beginning,
- 33:23Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, I think they'll
- 33:25Speaker 1: home back in and figure out how to do this
- 33:27Speaker 1: football thing. They've done their whole lives. Yeah, And I
- 33:29Speaker 1: think it's really helpful for the Seahawks, especially that they
- 33:31Speaker 1: don't really tackle that much in practice. Anyway. To begin
- 33:34Speaker 1: with the way they do it, they usually thud tempo.
- 33:37Speaker 1: They only really had one live portion of the second
- 33:40Speaker 1: mod game where the starting defense is actually tackling the ground.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I'm not as worried about them. What I am concerned
- 33:46Speaker 1: about a special team's bump when you haven't had a
- 33:49Speaker 1: live rap running down on kickoff, your assignment on kick return.
- 33:52Speaker 1: The ones that really kind of scare you too are
- 33:54Speaker 1: pat and field goal and then play because those are
- 33:58Speaker 1: big players. You get a block, kid, can you get?
- 34:00Speaker 1: That changes the game. So seeing how they come out
- 34:03Speaker 1: on special teams. But I know Brian Snider's gonna have
- 34:06Speaker 1: those boys ready. Great point. They have not done live
- 34:10Speaker 1: reps on special teams. I think the one that scares
- 34:12Speaker 1: me the most is kickoff returns because on the kick
- 34:17Speaker 1: cover team, it's all about your lanes. Stay in your lanes.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Stay in your lanes. You're gonna that's like the biggest
- 34:22Speaker 1: coaching point of all kickcover teams. Stay in your lane,
- 34:25Speaker 1: and you're gonna have some rookies out there. You're gonna
- 34:27Speaker 1: have some some bubble guys, guys who are who barely
- 34:30Speaker 1: made the team, so they might not be as experienced.
- 34:32Speaker 1: But you know what. That's why you do drills, and
- 34:35Speaker 1: that's why you show up every day. So hopefully it
- 34:37Speaker 1: translates another path of victory. Contained Julio. Dude had ten
- 34:41Speaker 1: catches one hundred fifty four yards last time these two
- 34:44Speaker 1: guys together. You know, I'm okay with one hundred, just
- 34:47Speaker 1: not one hundred and fifty four. Julio is gonna eat right.
- 34:49Speaker 1: It's Julio, Like you said, he's number one and number
- 34:52Speaker 1: two best receiver in the league. You gotta contain him.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's containing him. What is containing him to you? What
- 34:56Speaker 1: does that mean? I mean containing him. He can't go
- 34:59Speaker 1: off for twelve for one eighty and two toads or
- 35:02Speaker 1: two hundred. I think he's gonna if he gets six,
- 35:05Speaker 1: seven receptions eighty nine yards, you know, and maybe it's
- 35:08Speaker 1: just one big play. Obviously you don't want to have
- 35:10Speaker 1: any explosives. But you keep him under a hundred or
- 35:12Speaker 1: even right around one hundred, no more than one touchdown.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I think you've done your job. Yeah, I agree, I agree, Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's Julio. Let's just be he's gonna
- 35:24Speaker 1: get hit. Another path to victory. Let Jamal Adams be great,
- 35:28Speaker 1: use him all over the field. And I love that idea.
- 35:31Speaker 1: The guy had was six and a half sack last year,
- 35:33Speaker 1: six and a half sack. He's good in his own
- 35:36Speaker 1: he's good in the box. You just got this brand
- 35:40Speaker 1: new piece of equipment, all right, don't be shy, don't
- 35:44Speaker 1: be scared to get a dirty It wants to get dirty.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It wants to be used. Let the dog off the
- 35:48Speaker 1: leash and let him eat. Let's go, man, I'm so excited.
- 35:51Speaker 1: That's my number one thing that I'm most looking forward
- 35:53Speaker 1: to on Sunday's watching him run wild all over the field.
- 35:56Speaker 1: And the best thing about Jamal Adams is there will
- 35:59Speaker 1: be no confused using as to who made the play
- 36:02Speaker 1: if it's him. I promise you you will feel that
- 36:04Speaker 1: in your living room, promise you. So you're saying he's
- 36:09Speaker 1: gonna let everybody now, he gonna let them know. Buff,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I'm excited for it. I'm all here for it. Doug.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Let's go another pack of victory. Run the ball, convert
- 36:18Speaker 1: on third down. Now we all know that they're gonna
- 36:20Speaker 1: run the ball, right, you gotta that's that's what that's
- 36:22Speaker 1: what this team is built to do, at least initially,
- 36:24Speaker 1: is to run the football, and you have to when
- 36:27Speaker 1: you got Chris Carson, Carlos High, and let's not forget
- 36:30Speaker 1: DJ have. I don't think we've mentioned DJ enough during
- 36:33Speaker 1: this this whole deal. I don't think you've missed them
- 36:35Speaker 1: at all. But this is a rookie who's getting rest
- 36:39Speaker 1: with the one who was a receiver at the University
- 36:42Speaker 1: of Miami. So I expect him to be using the
- 36:44Speaker 1: screen games and swings and all that stuff. You have
- 36:46Speaker 1: to run the football because you get your two dogs
- 36:48Speaker 1: back there and Carlos High and Chris Carson, but you
- 36:51Speaker 1: also have a DJ Dallas. Well. I feel like they're
- 36:54Speaker 1: gonna try to get at least one or two touches earlier. Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 1: you want to get the rookie get his feet wet
- 36:58Speaker 1: in the NFL and get going. And as Roberts would
- 37:00Speaker 1: always say, tell us on the pregame say all the time,
- 37:02Speaker 1: is he want to start running the ball because it
- 37:04Speaker 1: gets the offensive line ready to go. You want to
- 37:06Speaker 1: be the aggressor, you want to come out, You want
- 37:07Speaker 1: to go hit somebody. You want Dayne Brown to hit somebody.
- 37:10Speaker 1: You want these guys to fire off and hit somebody.
- 37:11Speaker 1: You start running the ball, it helps open up the
- 37:14Speaker 1: play action and then it helps us convert on third
- 37:16Speaker 1: down for sure. All right, told us you hurt that
- 37:19Speaker 1: we must run the ball to open up to let
- 37:22Speaker 1: him cook. You don't just cook, right, You gotta preppy.
- 37:25Speaker 1: You gotta cut your your vegetables. You on me, you
- 37:27Speaker 1: gotta marinate the meat. You don't just go out the lass.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Will not least beat the team you're supposed to beat.
- 37:32Speaker 1: They're supposed to beat these guys, right, absolutely, I mean
- 37:35Speaker 1: it's the Seahawks are a team that I think has deep,
- 37:39Speaker 1: deep playoff aspirations, if not the big Game. So this
- 37:43Speaker 1: is a game where you have to come out on
- 37:44Speaker 1: the road and show the league and show everyone what
- 37:46Speaker 1: you're about, and start from week one. So they're supposed
- 37:49Speaker 1: to win, even though they've only won one game on
- 37:53Speaker 1: the road home opener under Peak Carroll time difference doesn't matter.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I'm play Devil's advocate. I got I gotta throw of that.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Just a one went on the road under Pete home
- 38:01Speaker 1: opener time different that we're seven and one on the
- 38:04Speaker 1: role last year. But even with all that, no crowd
- 38:07Speaker 1: sildas are going to be different, protocols are different. There's
- 38:10Speaker 1: still there's no doubt they're supposed to win this ball game.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I said what I said, Bump, I said what I said. No,
- 38:17Speaker 1: I honestly, I think I think they should be favored.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I think for good reason. We're coming off. We're a
- 38:21Speaker 1: playoff team. They were seven to nine last year. They
- 38:23Speaker 1: got the tools, they got the talent. Our defense is
- 38:25Speaker 1: so much improved, and hey we got number three man.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Let's get it done. Get her done, Get her done.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Number three and number boys are going down to the
- 38:33Speaker 1: atl this Sunday. It is a ten am start. To
- 38:38Speaker 1: make sure you wake up early, you get your lineup
- 38:41Speaker 1: set up for fantasy, you get your favorite seat, and
- 38:44Speaker 1: enjoyed it because we almost didn't have this season. It
- 38:47Speaker 1: looked like for a minute this wasn't going to happen.
- 38:50Speaker 1: So every game, every snap, don't take it for granted.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Live it up, love it. It's been real, folks. Two
