- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's been back on the Almost Famous podcast, coming to
- 0:07Speaker 2: you from gorgeous Lake Tahoe today. I'm pumped to have
- 0:11Speaker 2: someone on the pod who we got to love on
- 0:14Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor and now she's on this season of Paradise.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's Leslie Fema. Hello. I cannot wait to talk to you,
- 0:24Speaker 2: but before I do, I gotta tell you about where
- 0:26Speaker 2: we're at. We're at a Verbo right now in Lake Tahoe.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's the Verbo Summer House. It is mind blowing. It's
- 0:32Speaker 2: one of those places you walk into and you just
- 0:35Speaker 2: kind of take a step back because it's so beautiful.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's absolutely incredible. Verbo has been so great to us
- 0:41Speaker 2: this week as we have so many incredible people staying
- 0:44Speaker 2: with us in Lake Tahoe, and Verbo is incredible also
- 0:47Speaker 2: because they have last minute deals. It's live on the
- 0:50Speaker 2: Verbo app and website showing travelers nearly three hundred thousand
- 0:54Speaker 2: let me say that again, three hundred thousand discount of
- 0:57Speaker 2: properties that any traveler can book within thirty days of
- 1:01Speaker 2: check in. A few destinations that stood out to me
- 1:03Speaker 2: personally as I was looking Hilton Head, South Carolina, Cape Cod, Massachusetts,
- 1:09Speaker 2: San Diego, Portavarda. And of course where we're at right now,
- 1:12Speaker 2: which is Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is beautiful. You haven't
- 1:15Speaker 2: been before. It's another one of those places that make
- 1:18Speaker 2: you take a step back and go, is this real?
- 1:20Speaker 2: Or because it doesn't look real? It's so pretty, it's
- 1:23Speaker 2: so beautiful. Verbo has the last minute booking filter. It's
- 1:26Speaker 2: an industry first for vacation rentals. This kind of vacation
- 1:30Speaker 2: rentals are also labeled with a last minute badget displays
- 1:34Speaker 2: a total amount travelers can save on their booking. Plus,
- 1:38Speaker 2: travelers never have to second guess a total cost or
- 1:41Speaker 2: worry about hidden fees. Verbo displays all mandatory fees in
- 1:46Speaker 2: the upfront price. Leslie Ben, this week I had the
- 1:52Speaker 2: pleasure of speaking with Hakim, who was on Paradise. I
- 1:55Speaker 2: believe probably before you got there.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Yeah, he left before I got that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: S Geam is what we're calling right now.
- 1:59Speaker 3: A young gangm yep.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We asked a Keema, simple question, would you have dated
- 2:04Speaker 2: any of the Goldens? And he said, of course, is
- 2:08Speaker 2: that Leslie, she's a battie. I think it was his words, Oh, Leslie,
- 2:14Speaker 2: how does that make you feel? Oh? First, really a
- 2:19Speaker 2: little shocked, Like you look like, are you blushing?
- 2:22Speaker 3: I am?
- 2:23Speaker 4: I'm like, wow, Okay, thank you, Hakeem. Too bad that
- 2:28Speaker 4: you left before I got there. He's adorable and funny,
- 2:33Speaker 4: and I was kind of sad a lot of people
- 2:36Speaker 4: weren't there that I was looking forward to. Obviously I
- 2:39Speaker 4: loved everybody that was there, but yeah, I was like,
- 2:42Speaker 4: where is Hakim?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Where is Susie?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Where you know?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Everywhere? Where are you?
- 2:46Speaker 4: But you know, my rule is I would never date
- 2:51Speaker 4: anyone younger than my oldest child, who is going to
- 2:55Speaker 4: be thirty nine in two days. Okay, and actually I've
- 2:59Speaker 4: never dated anyone a few years older than him. So,
- 3:02Speaker 4: but that is kind of a running joke with me
- 3:05Speaker 4: and my friends. So sorry I came, but thank you
- 3:07Speaker 4: so much.
- 3:08Speaker 2: That big compliment. Yeah, one of the things he quoted
- 3:11Speaker 2: in his response to us wash if she was good
- 3:15Speaker 2: enough for Prince, she's good enough for me. So we're
- 3:18Speaker 2: going to dive into this Prince talk. It's kind of
- 3:20Speaker 2: been talked about, rumored about. You've been open about saying
- 3:24Speaker 2: that the song Sexy Dancer was written in a lot
- 3:27Speaker 2: of parts about you can we dive into this Prince
- 3:32Speaker 2: stuff a little bit more?
- 3:33Speaker 3: Did we do that like a year ago?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Though I don't remember it, and I would like to
- 3:37Speaker 2: do it again if he did.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I'm just kidding. So the deal is it really is
- 3:43Speaker 4: quite simple. My cousin, Bobby Z was his drummer in
- 3:48Speaker 4: the Revolution, but before that they were very good friends.
- 3:51Speaker 4: They met, they became best friends, and you know, Bobby
- 3:55Speaker 4: introduced me to him really before he was well, not
- 4:00Speaker 4: before he's princes because he's always Prince, but before like
- 4:02Speaker 4: his first album came out, and Bobby would take him
- 4:06Speaker 4: around because he hadn't gotten his license yet or something.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 4:10Speaker 3: They were just always together.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And I was dancing in a fashion show and Prince,
- 4:15Speaker 4: you know, we kind of liked each other. I mean
- 4:16Speaker 4: we were seventeen, and so he took Prince to watch
- 4:23Speaker 4: me dance in the fashion show.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And he said, you're a sexy dancer.
- 4:27Speaker 4: And so basically he told Bobby, you know, people don't
- 4:32Speaker 4: believe me. I'm not dragging my cousin into it. You
- 4:35Speaker 4: can call him, you can text him, but again, I
- 4:37Speaker 4: don't want to drag my cousin into it. But he
- 4:40Speaker 4: said to Bobby that the song I'm writing is about Leslie.
- 4:43Speaker 4: She's a sexy dancer. So you know, when it came out,
- 4:46Speaker 4: you know, listen, It's got five words sexy dancer, want
- 4:49Speaker 4: your body, that's all it says.
- 4:51Speaker 3: It's not a deep song.
- 4:53Speaker 2: How does it make you feel to listen to?
- 4:56Speaker 4: You know, I hadn't listened to it for a really
- 4:59Speaker 4: long time. And then when we had a free day
- 5:02Speaker 4: on Golden Bachelor, one of the producers took their phone
- 5:05Speaker 4: out and says, I have a song.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I want to play, and I'm like, oh my god.
- 5:09Speaker 4: You know, but it was kind of funny, and so
- 5:12Speaker 4: it's not something I listen to every day, you know.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But but if you need to get hyped up, I mean, you.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Know, it's been so long, and we we did have
- 5:22Speaker 4: some memories. I mean I was in the Ice Follies
- 5:24Speaker 4: and he would then he became Prince and he had
- 5:26Speaker 4: his first album. We did kind of date a couple
- 5:29Speaker 4: of years, so like seventeen to nineteen basically, and but
- 5:34Speaker 4: back then there was no cell phone, so he'd write
- 5:36Speaker 4: me letters and he'd have all this artwork on it,
- 5:38Speaker 4: and so all my friends from the Ice Follies we
- 5:41Speaker 4: sit around at night with their glasses of wine, and
- 5:43Speaker 4: I'd read the letters to my friends because.
- 5:46Speaker 3: It was very They were very provocative.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It was like story time, you know, yeah, yeah, so
- 5:54Speaker 4: is that what you're saying?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he's good with ears.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Do you have these letters still?
- 6:00Speaker 4: The weird thing is so fast forward many years. I
- 6:04Speaker 4: moved to California and moved to LA and I drove
- 6:08Speaker 4: out there with I had a little, you know, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 4: Volkswagen convertible, and I had all the letters in a
- 6:16Speaker 4: big plastic bag and my car got repossessed, not because
- 6:21Speaker 4: of my fault, but I'm not going to go into it.
- 6:23Speaker 4: My car got repossessed. But when I went to get
- 6:26Speaker 4: my car, everything was there but the bag of letters.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So you don't know where they're at. We could like
- 6:33Speaker 2: start a whole podcast on finding these letters again. They
- 6:36Speaker 2: would be worse.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Something tell me about that. But I, to be honest,
- 6:41Speaker 4: wouldn't sell them. I would like them back, but I
- 6:44Speaker 4: don't know where they are. They could have been thrown
- 6:46Speaker 4: out or burned, or maybe they're on the internet somewhere
- 6:49Speaker 4: I don't know, but or maybe somebody that didn't want
- 6:53Speaker 4: me to have them through them out that's a whole
- 6:55Speaker 4: other podcast though.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Anyways, I think we.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Have an idea find the letters. Was there any other
- 7:01Speaker 2: famous names that you were connected to back in the day,
- 7:04Speaker 2: I mean, you were a sexy dancer. I'm assuming that
- 7:08Speaker 2: Prince wasn't the only one to recognize this.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Hmmm, Well, I don't know, because then, really I went
- 7:14Speaker 4: into the Ice Follies and you know, all my friends
- 7:18Speaker 4: and the Ice fallis would call me sexy dancer because
- 7:20Speaker 4: I knew the song was about me, and I still
- 7:22Speaker 4: have friends that call me that, and they wanted me
- 7:24Speaker 4: to make like hashtag and sexy dancer.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'm not going to do that.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I'm not going to capitalize on Prince, you know, I'm
- 7:30Speaker 4: just not doing that. But no, I mean, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 4: just everyone knew me in the Ice show as being
- 7:38Speaker 4: the dancer, and Peggy Fleming needed to do like a
- 7:41Speaker 4: disco number and she was not, you know, she was
- 7:44Speaker 4: so graceful and beautiful, and so they had me teacher
- 7:47Speaker 4: like disco moves on the ice, you know, because she
- 7:50Speaker 4: was doing a back then there was disco, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 4: and so we became fast friends. But yeah, so I've
- 7:57Speaker 4: had some good experiences through my dancing.
- 8:01Speaker 2: The good experience have led to your time on The
- 8:04Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor, which is where we're going to go. Now.
- 8:06Speaker 2: We're not going to stay in the Golden Bachelor long
- 8:09Speaker 2: because obviously that time has come and gone for you
- 8:12Speaker 2: and we now are getting to watch you in Paradise.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But you were a runner up on that season. How
- 8:18Speaker 2: would you describe your relationship with Gary now?
- 8:22Speaker 4: I really don't have a relationship with Gary. If I
- 8:25Speaker 4: see him, we're fine. We are very cordial. I really
- 8:30Speaker 4: only want the best for him. And I did see
- 8:32Speaker 4: him at Grant's finale and he told me he had
- 8:37Speaker 4: a girlfriend, and I'm happy for him. You know, I
- 8:40Speaker 4: just want everyone to be happy really in our age.
- 8:43Speaker 4: I mean it's like TikTok. We all want to, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 4: find our person and get on with our life.
- 8:48Speaker 3: So I'm happy for him.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Obviously, if you would have asked me that September after
- 8:54Speaker 4: the show, when I got home, you know, it was
- 8:57Speaker 4: hard for me and I did have some dark days,
- 9:01Speaker 4: but I, like always, I just picked myself up and
- 9:04Speaker 4: moved on.
- 9:05Speaker 3: So I only want the best.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Do you wish it would have played out differently now?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean you're a little bit removed. I remember speaking
- 9:12Speaker 2: to you right after the show, and it was this like, oh,
- 9:15Speaker 2: I wish it could have worked, kind of like feeling.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Now you see where your life has gone, you're removed
- 9:21Speaker 2: from that experience, do you still wish that you and
- 9:24Speaker 2: Gary could have maybe had a shot.
- 9:27Speaker 4: You know, it's hard for me to say, Ben, because
- 9:29Speaker 4: I really feel like everything happens for a reason. And
- 9:33Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, Teresa and I are alike
- 9:36Speaker 4: a lot, but we're very different too, and so you know,
- 9:42Speaker 4: I don't know if one person's a better fit with
- 9:45Speaker 4: somebody else versus whatever. But I think things happened the
- 9:50Speaker 4: way they were supposed to, and now that I'm very
- 9:53Speaker 4: far to move from it, I feel that it was
- 9:56Speaker 4: best that, you know, I was not the last girl standing.
- 10:00Speaker 2: How long did the feelings like continue after the show
- 10:03Speaker 2: for you?
- 10:04Speaker 4: Well, so, like I said, I had some bad, you
- 10:07Speaker 4: know times after the show because and then watching it
- 10:11Speaker 4: back was hard, and the whole thing, the finale was
- 10:15Speaker 4: very hard for me. I think after the finale, which
- 10:21Speaker 4: was like the end of November, you know, like that December,
- 10:24Speaker 4: I kind of like, you know, just kind of felt better.
- 10:27Speaker 4: And then Teresa invited me to their wedding, and by
- 10:30Speaker 4: the wedding I really was fine. I really just wanted
- 10:33Speaker 4: them to be happy, because, to be honest, we were
- 10:35Speaker 4: really good friends in the house and we're good friends
- 10:38Speaker 4: now and I love her to death and whatever. You
- 10:41Speaker 4: know what Again, I thought, well, it was meant to be.
- 10:44Speaker 4: You know, they're happy, they're getting married.
- 10:45Speaker 2: So you know, on my resume I have that I
- 10:49Speaker 2: got to dance with the sexy dancer at the We did.
- 10:53Speaker 4: We did, tear it up, then we crushed it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: It was good. They said the music, who's the best
- 10:58Speaker 2: dancer here and who's the worst dance are here? Let's
- 11:01Speaker 2: put them together and make them go. Okay, they did,
- 11:05Speaker 2: and there was no music playing, so I just kind
- 11:07Speaker 2: of crushed it. I felt like we did great. Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 2: me too, I was feeling myself.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I thought it was our best moment together.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Gary's got a book coming out. If you're
- 11:15Speaker 2: mentioned in it, how will that make you feel? And
- 11:17Speaker 2: also are you going to read it?
- 11:20Speaker 4: Hm? Well, I mean I have to be mentioned because
- 11:23Speaker 4: I was a big part of that show and a
- 11:25Speaker 4: big part of his journey. I think that I don't
- 11:31Speaker 4: feel like I did anything where he is going to
- 11:35Speaker 4: say something derogatory about me. So I'm okay. I think
- 11:40Speaker 4: with it. We had a great time. We laughed a lot.
- 11:44Speaker 4: You know, he broke my heart, but everything's okay. So
- 11:48Speaker 4: it's not like anything happened, you know, like I didn't
- 11:51Speaker 4: do anything, you know, obviously, it was just you know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: it's his journey, his decision. So I'm okay, and I'm
- 11:58Speaker 4: going to read it. I don't know, I have to see.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I'm not sure. I'm interested in seeing what he says,
- 12:06Speaker 4: so I probably will.
- 12:18Speaker 2: One of the hopes when your season aired, and I
- 12:21Speaker 2: do believe it was kind of slammed the door wide
- 12:24Speaker 2: open for the future of the Golden Show to continue
- 12:28Speaker 2: and to thrive, and I hope it does. It's my hope.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I love that show. Yeah, is that they would have
- 12:34Speaker 2: a second season. Yeah, and they have a second season.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Mel Owens was announced as the Bachelor. He's been in
- 12:40Speaker 2: the press a ton since his announcement. Yeah, he had
- 12:43Speaker 2: some controversial age comments that kind of fire people up.
- 12:47Speaker 2: He had said some things pretty much requesting or demanding
- 12:52Speaker 2: in a lot of ways that the women that were
- 12:54Speaker 2: cast on his season b below sixty years old. Right,
- 12:59Speaker 2: What do you think about that? How do you feel
- 13:01Speaker 2: about those comments and does it keep you excited to
- 13:05Speaker 2: watch the season or are you kind of turned off?
- 13:07Speaker 3: I'm turned off, and so.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Many people are. And that's a bummer because the show
- 13:12Speaker 2: had a really easy, I know, ability to just like
- 13:14Speaker 2: put somebody in that people would love. Yeah, and Golden
- 13:18Speaker 2: should not be controversial.
- 13:19Speaker 4: No, I mean, especially the lead. That's what I loved
- 13:24Speaker 4: about our show. I knew nothing about Gary he was.
- 13:28Speaker 4: I saw him as the world saw him on you know,
- 13:31Speaker 4: Good Morning America when they announced him. I didn't do
- 13:35Speaker 4: any deep dives. Some of the other women did, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 4: and they found out more about him. I didn't want
- 13:39Speaker 4: and I didn't want to know anything I saw him.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I want to go in there organically he was you know,
- 13:46Speaker 4: he was actually going, you're so young. I'm like, I'm young.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I'm sixty at that time, I was sixty five or
- 13:51Speaker 4: sixty four, and he goes, no, but you know, And
- 13:55Speaker 4: so I love that part about him, like he wasn't
- 13:58Speaker 4: looking for that young girl, you know, and young girl
- 14:02Speaker 4: sixty four. But but this melowens. I don't. I if
- 14:08Speaker 4: I was one of those women going on the show
- 14:09Speaker 4: right now, I think it'd be really hard because part
- 14:12Speaker 4: of the beauty of us, I especially well, I don't
- 14:15Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't try that hard. My hair
- 14:18Speaker 4: is curly, it's curly if I didn't have makeup. I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 4: I'm just not that type of girl. And so I
- 14:24Speaker 4: feel I feel worried for these women that have to
- 14:27Speaker 4: like are they gonna look okay?
- 14:29Speaker 3: Are they you know?
- 14:30Speaker 4: And part of being you know, a little bit older,
- 14:33Speaker 4: is you kind of just don't care?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I think. My personal opinion is I do
- 14:38Speaker 2: love the Golden Show. I do, and I love it
- 14:41Speaker 2: for reasons that are complete opposite of what he was saying.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I love the second chance, that love, chance of love.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I love the lack of controversial characters that we can
- 14:51Speaker 2: celebrate every single person that walks to the door, including
- 14:54Speaker 2: the lead. I like the innocence of dating later in life.
- 15:00Speaker 2: It is just just desire to be with somebody and
- 15:03Speaker 2: just connect with somebody and share life with some exactly.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I think I'm nervous that those comments will lead us
- 15:10Speaker 2: to feel very much like it's just another Bachelor season
- 15:13Speaker 2: with older contestants.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I feel that, and you know, I and then sometimes
- 15:18Speaker 4: it's hard to watch, you know what.
- 15:19Speaker 3: The Goldens. I mean, of course it was hard to
- 15:21Speaker 3: watch some of it.
- 15:22Speaker 4: You know, I'm crying and this one, you know, but
- 15:25Speaker 4: but those were true emotions really, and and this I
- 15:29Speaker 4: just hope the women I saw the women, they look gorgeous,
- 15:33Speaker 4: you know, Hopefully they are confident with themselves and just
- 15:38Speaker 4: I want them to just if I could give them advice,
- 15:40Speaker 4: just be yourself, because at the end of the day,
- 15:44Speaker 4: you know, that's what this is all about, you know,
- 15:46Speaker 4: growing all just being comfortable in our own skin.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And you know, so I.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Am in the strong opinion I would have rather had
- 15:55Speaker 2: a Golden Lead be eighty years old and see that
- 15:59Speaker 2: like dynamic play out than I would to push it
- 16:02Speaker 2: back to make everybody really pretty and put together. I
- 16:06Speaker 2: would have rather seen yeah, like them go far further,
- 16:10Speaker 2: even in a different direction.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, I agree with you.
- 16:16Speaker 4: But you know, they had a chance maybe to get
- 16:19Speaker 4: another lead, and they chose not to. So I guess
- 16:21Speaker 4: people are going to tune in out of curiosity. You hope,
- 16:25Speaker 4: I hope, I mean, I hope, so for sure.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope. So now we're going to switch gears
- 16:30Speaker 2: to Paradise. You're obviously on Paradise, right, now as we speak,
- 16:36Speaker 2: we talked about Hakeem's statements. Do you have made it
- 16:39Speaker 2: clear up to this point you wouldn't have daten a
- 16:41Speaker 2: young and if they were younger than your children, which
- 16:45Speaker 2: I think was a tease going into the whole season,
- 16:48Speaker 2: was were people going to date younger or day older?
- 16:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:52Speaker 2: Was there anyone you were hoping to meet before you
- 16:55Speaker 2: got on the beach, like anybody specifically when you got
- 16:58Speaker 2: on the plane, You're like, I hope they show up.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I hope they're there.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Well, it's a little bit hard because a lot of
- 17:06Speaker 4: the Golden Bachelorette men were in relationships, and so you know,
- 17:12Speaker 4: I hadn't met most most of them. And I mean
- 17:17Speaker 4: Gary and I met already at the Grand's finale. I
- 17:22Speaker 4: had met Actually that's the only person I met. But
- 17:26Speaker 4: you know, like I've I've I've hung out with Jordan
- 17:29Speaker 4: a little bit, but he has a girlfriend. And I
- 17:31Speaker 4: hung out with Pascal a little bit as friends, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 4: but I'm too old for him. So you know, it's like,
- 17:38Speaker 4: so there wasn't like one particular person. But I thought
- 17:42Speaker 4: they were going to bring in men that we hadn't met.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I thought they were going to go into some guys
- 17:49Speaker 4: that had applied for Golden Bachelorette. Interesting and that didn't
- 17:52Speaker 4: get on the show because they have they had so many. Yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 4: and that's it was really our belief, not just mine,
- 18:00Speaker 4: a lot of us, you know, well all six it
- 18:03Speaker 4: was seven of us.
- 18:03Speaker 3: We thought that was going to happen.
- 18:06Speaker 2: That's been interesting. It would have increased a pool a.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Little bit, it would have yeah, yeah, but I mean
- 18:11Speaker 4: and then April picking Jonathan like it's a double edged sword.
- 18:14Speaker 4: It was amazing, and I kind of wanted to do
- 18:17Speaker 4: the same thing at that point because you know, Natasha
- 18:22Speaker 4: took Gary because she got called first, so I really
- 18:25Speaker 4: didn't know who was going to pick, and so that
- 18:29Speaker 4: was a great thing because we all love Jonathan, we
- 18:32Speaker 4: all want him to have a second chance.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I love it as well.
- 18:35Speaker 4: But then she kind of cannibalized us with the Goldens,
- 18:38Speaker 4: like there's now there's one more guy going home.
- 18:42Speaker 3: So it was just, yeah, it was kind of.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Got messed up. Yeah, the right now as we're watching,
- 18:51Speaker 2: I think it's six women and three men. Yes, right,
- 18:55Speaker 2: it's a very like it's doubled amount of women.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yep.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Me that the Goldens as we know them as we expect,
- 19:03Speaker 2: they're going to be dwindled down. It's gonna be harder
- 19:05Speaker 2: and harder to find relationships. We have seen you have
- 19:08Speaker 2: a spark with Gary, but Gary seems to be a
- 19:11Speaker 2: very hot commodity in Paradise. So the moment he walked
- 19:14Speaker 2: through the door or out of his car looking back
- 19:20Speaker 2: looking currently, how real was that spark? And then I
- 19:25Speaker 2: think the most interesting part of this that nobody's clarifying
- 19:30Speaker 2: is he is a hot commodity. You had the first
- 19:32Speaker 2: date with him that seemed to go well, but it
- 19:35Speaker 2: feels like he's never around to invest into your relationship
- 19:39Speaker 2: because he's always getting asked on dates.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That is true. I felt like we had an amazing date.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It was so much fun.
- 19:49Speaker 4: We just laughed and danced in the rain, and I
- 19:53Speaker 4: felt very connected to him. And then they goes on
- 19:55Speaker 4: a date with Nancy, and of course Nancy gets to
- 19:58Speaker 4: choose whoever she wants. You know, again, I want everyone
- 20:02Speaker 4: to find their person, to be on their own journey
- 20:06Speaker 4: and whatever. So I was happy for her, but then
- 20:09Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, well no, you know, like it was
- 20:13Speaker 4: just yeah, it.
- 20:14Speaker 3: A little it's a little it was a little different, and.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I mean, Natasha gave him the rose, so you kind
- 20:20Speaker 2: of have this date, but then you don't get a
- 20:22Speaker 2: chance to validate or catch up on hair. Are you
- 20:25Speaker 2: feeling this too?
- 20:26Speaker 1: M h?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Was this good? Was this not? It feels like and
- 20:29Speaker 2: to nobody's fault, yeah, nobody. You know, nobody's expected to
- 20:32Speaker 2: be like, hey, let's wait for Leslie to figure this
- 20:35Speaker 2: out now.
- 20:35Speaker 4: And I couldn't tell Tatasha what to do. I mean,
- 20:38Speaker 4: you know, that's why would I tell her who to
- 20:40Speaker 4: give a rose?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Toe? But what were your feelings as you stood there?
- 20:45Speaker 2: I mean at this point as we're watching, you're on
- 20:47Speaker 2: your own Lowly Island. Now, we don't see you in
- 20:49Speaker 2: Gary together, we don't see you with anybody I know,
- 20:51Speaker 2: So how like, how are you feeling in these moments
- 20:54Speaker 2: as we watched the show?
- 20:56Speaker 3: You know, it was a little I had such a
- 20:59Speaker 3: great time.
- 21:00Speaker 4: I'm in paradise, and I didn't have the feelings and
- 21:03Speaker 4: go like I did on Golden matchro. I didn't cry,
- 21:06Speaker 4: I didn't, you know, but I did feel like Natasha
- 21:11Speaker 4: gave him the rose, and but I did tell him.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I just I said, I want you to know that
- 21:15Speaker 4: if I was called first, I would have given you
- 21:16Speaker 4: my rose because I wanted and I told Kim that too.
- 21:19Speaker 4: I didn't want him to get the wrong idea. I said, Kim,
- 21:22Speaker 4: I chose you because I feel like you add something
- 21:25Speaker 4: to the group. And you know, basically, I really didn't
- 21:30Speaker 4: give the rose to and you know, because I was
- 21:33Speaker 4: really frantic at that moment, and so I'm like, I
- 21:36Speaker 4: don't know who to choose. I don't know who to choose.
- 21:39Speaker 4: There's a lot of things going through my mind.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I mean, it was it was difficult. It was difficult,
- 21:45Speaker 4: but you know, I again, I'm kind of comfortable in
- 21:49Speaker 4: my own skin. And if I go and I'm thinking,
- 21:52Speaker 4: you know, there's now Gary has three women that he
- 21:55Speaker 4: could choose from at the next Rose ceremony, which is
- 21:59Speaker 4: next week, and I was thinking, if he doesn't choose me,
- 22:04Speaker 4: I go home, and it's all right, Like I'm not
- 22:07Speaker 4: going home broken hearted. I'm not going you know, it's
- 22:11Speaker 4: I had a great time. I made amazing friends. I
- 22:13Speaker 4: came back with like eight new daughters.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I mean, I love those girls so much.
- 22:17Speaker 4: So I felt okay with it, and I packed my suitcase,
- 22:22Speaker 4: you know, and I was ready to go.
- 22:24Speaker 2: We do see Kim, Captain Kim, he's very confident that
- 22:30Speaker 2: you're going to give him the rose, But we don't
- 22:33Speaker 2: really know why he's so confident. He's communicating that. It's like,
- 22:38Speaker 2: you guys have this thing that we're trying to catch
- 22:40Speaker 2: up with his viewers. We actually also see him read
- 22:44Speaker 2: you a poem, and be honest here, what was going
- 22:46Speaker 2: through your mind as he's reading you this poem? Also
- 22:50Speaker 2: then when you're watching his back seeing his confidence in
- 22:53Speaker 2: your relationship?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Well, I don't obviously want to say anything bad about my.
- 22:58Speaker 2: My, but you we will. You don't want to, but
- 23:02Speaker 2: you would if you just wanted to.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Oh my god, So what's going through my mind? Is ova?
- 23:11Speaker 4: And also he's pretty good at poems. I write poems too,
- 23:15Speaker 4: but he's pretty good. Okay, that's number two. Number three
- 23:18Speaker 4: is I don't I saw him all day with that book,
- 23:22Speaker 4: and I kept thinking, what is he writing?
- 23:24Speaker 3: What is is he writing? Journaling? And then I found
- 23:27Speaker 3: out he was working on that poem all day.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Yeah, so I you know, I always feel bad and
- 23:33Speaker 4: I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and I wanted him,
- 23:37Speaker 4: and that's why I was honest with them. I did
- 23:40Speaker 4: actually say to him. I just want you to know
- 23:41Speaker 4: I would have given Gary my rose if I was
- 23:43Speaker 4: called first. But I wanted you here, you know, so
- 23:46Speaker 4: thank you so much, and you know, but we are
- 23:49Speaker 4: I just only feel like friends. So I try to
- 23:53Speaker 4: nip in the butt. Yeah, I don't know how it got.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I don't know how it got so confident. But I
- 23:59Speaker 4: don't know.
- 23:59Speaker 2: But I mean he's still there to potentially give you
- 24:02Speaker 2: a rose this upcoming week, right, Yeah, so if Gary
- 24:05Speaker 2: choose somebody else, he is a backup play, he's your
- 24:11Speaker 2: backup plan.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Well, yeah, he's my backup. But I didn't Okay, I
- 24:17Speaker 4: just want to clarify. I didn't play that game. I
- 24:20Speaker 4: didn't give a rose to someone who I thought was
- 24:22Speaker 4: going to give a.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Help it that you're the sexy dancer like you can't
- 24:25Speaker 2: help it that two of the three guys are interested
- 24:28Speaker 2: in you. You don't play the game, but it's just
- 24:31Speaker 2: who you are there. You can't help it. It's it's
- 24:35Speaker 2: too bad. I feel bad for you that so many
- 24:38Speaker 2: people are, you know, gaining your You're gaining so many
- 24:42Speaker 2: people's attention. I mean, you're you're batting a pretty good percentage.
- 24:46Speaker 2: You're at sixty six point sixty six percent of the
- 24:49Speaker 2: guys in the group are interested.
- 24:53Speaker 3: And that's because I'm sixty six point sixty two years old.
- 24:56Speaker 2: No, that's fair too. We're gonna do some rapid fires,
- 25:09Speaker 2: but before we do, it looks like to us from
- 25:13Speaker 2: our show, we had a lot of questions going into Paradise,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and I think viewers had a lot of questions when
- 25:18Speaker 2: it comes to the Goldens being there alongside of the
- 25:21Speaker 2: Bachelor and Bachelorette cast. What was this going to be?
- 25:24Speaker 2: Was this going to get awkward and efe and weird
- 25:26Speaker 2: and chaotic or how is it going to intermingle? A
- 25:29Speaker 2: lot of confusion. I will say, sitting here in the seat,
- 25:31Speaker 2: I do now I really enjoyed having the Goldens there.
- 25:34Speaker 2: In fact, I think I enjoy watching them sometimes more
- 25:37Speaker 2: than I do the young'ins. It looks like the Goldens
- 25:41Speaker 2: are having so much fun, and TV can tell a
- 25:45Speaker 2: different story than the reality. So for the viewers, the
- 25:48Speaker 2: listeners of the show, were the Goldens having as much
- 25:51Speaker 2: fun as it seems on television?
- 25:54Speaker 3: Unequivocally yes, really yes?
- 25:57Speaker 2: Why do you think that was?
- 25:59Speaker 4: Because like I kind of touched on before, we don't care,
- 26:03Speaker 4: we you know, we just want to have fun. We
- 26:08Speaker 4: we love each other. We may have an eye roll
- 26:12Speaker 4: here and there, but it's not malicious.
- 26:14Speaker 3: You know. I love my roommate Kathy. She's great. No,
- 26:20Speaker 3: she doesn't interesting good for her, I know.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Well I did have my AirPods that all night, but
- 26:27Speaker 4: there was a calmness to the room when she was sleeping.
- 26:31Speaker 4: So yeah, but no, I mean we just had so
- 26:35Speaker 4: much fun. And I can honestly say I had such
- 26:40Speaker 4: a good time. I will say that over and over
- 26:43Speaker 4: I had I'm not saying I didn't have fun on
- 26:45Speaker 4: Golden Bachelor, you know, but this was a completely different experience.
- 26:49Speaker 2: So I've heard that so many times that Paradise is
- 26:51Speaker 2: actually like fun. It was fun, and the Bachelor sometimes
- 26:55Speaker 2: is very emotional and heavy, exactly tiring, tiring. I've heard
- 27:00Speaker 2: Paradise is a blast.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I've never it's a blast.
- 27:02Speaker 4: And you know, I guess it did help that we
- 27:03Speaker 4: had air conditioning in our rooms. Maybe if it was
- 27:06Speaker 4: at the old place. You know, WELLS is going, I
- 27:09Speaker 4: like the old place. I'm like, really, you rather not
- 27:11Speaker 4: have air conditioning? And you know he's laughing, but I no,
- 27:16Speaker 4: I I had the best time, and every morning I
- 27:20Speaker 4: woke up and you know what my view was the
- 27:23Speaker 4: beautiful beach and Dale, Jonathan Jeering, me and Brian all
- 27:31Speaker 4: working out. Yeah, and I'm like doing my pilates and
- 27:35Speaker 4: I'm just staring at him. I'm like, you know, hey,
- 27:38Speaker 4: I'm not touching, but I can look.
- 27:41Speaker 2: You can look. Yeah, I'm looking. Those dudes are just insane.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Yeah they look they look like they worked out every day. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 2: good for them.
- 27:48Speaker 3: The best line though, of the whole for me. I
- 27:50Speaker 3: laughed so hard.
- 27:51Speaker 4: So I was sitting next to some of the guys
- 27:53Speaker 4: Keith and and and Gary at the bar and one
- 27:58Speaker 4: of them ordered a beer and so well goes fourth
- 28:01Speaker 4: beer and I'm like, what of the day or the hour?
- 28:03Speaker 4: And he goes of my whole time doing this, I said,
- 28:07Speaker 4: what he goes that these guys look like they have
- 28:10Speaker 4: a carb. I was laughing so hard. I just went,
- 28:15Speaker 4: oh my god, this is crazy. Then they're drinking rose,
- 28:18Speaker 4: you know.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great behind the scenes because he's not
- 28:20Speaker 2: probably wrong. No, like people come on the show and
- 28:23Speaker 2: they're especially paradise you'r shirtless all the time? Yeah that
- 28:26Speaker 2: I bet in his history every single person's like I
- 28:30Speaker 2: can't have a beer that's gonna make bloat my stuff
- 28:32Speaker 2: exactly like I'm drinking rose and margarite.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Wait then the gold has come around.
- 28:37Speaker 4: They don't care. We're having Martini's old fashions. Everything.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Load us up. Okay, the rapid fires?
- 28:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:47Speaker 2: What's something that happened in Paradise or happened to you
- 28:50Speaker 2: or anybody else that you didn't anticipate before you went down.
- 28:54Speaker 4: I didn't anticipate being so welcomed by the group, especially
- 29:00Speaker 4: the girls. I mean for me, because I just literally
- 29:03Speaker 4: they just I just love them so much. I love
- 29:06Speaker 4: every one of them, And that was kind of shocking
- 29:09Speaker 4: to me. I was a little nervous about that.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yeah, if there's one couple that exists right now in
- 29:13Speaker 2: Paradise that we all know of based on where we're
- 29:17Speaker 2: at in the season, who are you most rooting for?
- 29:20Speaker 4: Oh well, I'm rooting for a lot of them, but
- 29:23Speaker 4: I'm rooting for Spencer and Jess.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Spencer and oh yeah, that's a very solid relationship.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 2: How would you sum up Paradise in three words?
- 29:32Speaker 3: Fun? Fun, fun, It's perfect.
- 29:36Speaker 2: One last rapid fire. As you're watching it back, do
- 29:38Speaker 2: you regret anything that happened in Paradise that you were
- 29:41Speaker 2: a part of.
- 29:42Speaker 3: No, I didn't do anything that my kids would be
- 29:44Speaker 3: embarrassed of.
- 29:45Speaker 2: So you don't wish you would have taken a body
- 29:47Speaker 2: shot off of a young and I do not correct
- 29:50Speaker 2: or let them take a body shot off of you.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Correct.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Okay, good final question. We're seeing teasers now for the
- 29:57Speaker 2: money part of Paradise. Last week we got bigger hint
- 30:00Speaker 2: that that looks like the money is coming into play
- 30:02Speaker 2: and there's games going to be played, competition is going
- 30:05Speaker 2: to be had. Were as viewers still getting used to
- 30:10Speaker 2: this new Paradise and now we added in this whole
- 30:12Speaker 2: new wrinkle. The money is going to change things no
- 30:17Speaker 2: matter what it does. It looks like it's a lot
- 30:18Speaker 2: of money. Yeah, with what you can say, why would
- 30:24Speaker 2: a viewer still be invested into the show knowing that
- 30:28Speaker 2: everything's about to change And for some critics, including myself,
- 30:33Speaker 2: it feels like money is going to take away from
- 30:35Speaker 2: the romantic side of Paradise.
- 30:38Speaker 4: I think that you Just to be honest with you,
- 30:41Speaker 4: I'm just going to preface this by saying I don't
- 30:43Speaker 4: know how it ended, okay, but I would say that
- 30:49Speaker 4: by the money might enhance some of these relationships. But
- 30:54Speaker 4: I feel like a few of these relationships are really strong,
- 30:58Speaker 4: and I don't think the money will matter.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It's just going to be an added benefit.
- 31:02Speaker 3: That's what I think.
- 31:04Speaker 2: You know. Do you like that money was involved.
- 31:07Speaker 3: I don't really have an opinion on that.
- 31:09Speaker 4: To be honest, all of us, the Goldens, I meant
- 31:13Speaker 4: we could have cared. I mean that wasn't like we
- 31:15Speaker 4: didn't go, oh my god, we got a window.
- 31:16Speaker 3: I mean we could. You know.
- 31:17Speaker 4: We're like, we want the youngins to win, Like you know,
- 31:20Speaker 4: who wouldn't want all that money, but you know, I
- 31:23Speaker 4: mean they're starting their lives out and all that stuff.
- 31:26Speaker 4: We that didn't enter my mind for a second.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Really, Leslie, is there anything I didn't ask you that
- 31:33Speaker 2: you want to share?
- 31:34Speaker 3: Well, I'd like to ask you something.
- 31:36Speaker 2: You can ask me anything.
- 31:37Speaker 3: When are we going to dance again today tonight?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Well? No, I'm leaving.
- 31:41Speaker 3: I know you're leaving. You got out of that one.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I got out of that one. It would be a
- 31:47Speaker 2: dream we should have last night. I know I had
- 31:49Speaker 2: the perfect the perfect moment. I mean the river, I know, beautiful.
- 31:53Speaker 4: House, this place by the way, Tahoe is like my Literally,
- 31:59Speaker 4: I have been here for once, but this is my
- 32:01Speaker 4: new favorite place.
- 32:02Speaker 2: It's incredible. Yeah, the house that we're in that verbo
- 32:06Speaker 2: is available on verbo. It's absolutely spectacular. I jumped in
- 32:10Speaker 2: the river last night out in front of the house.
- 32:13Speaker 2: It felt like a cold plunge.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I came up by the fire, had a cocktail. We
- 32:18Speaker 2: got the chat.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you look like you were pretty spent though I.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Was pretty tired. The cold plunge really wipe me out relaxed,
- 32:25Speaker 2: and it's also just the relaxing setting of being in
- 32:28Speaker 2: the pine trees and being at the rivers.
- 32:31Speaker 3: It is beyond gorgeous.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Leslie, thanks for joining us. We cannot wait to continue
- 32:34Speaker 2: to watch you in Paradise.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Thanks for sharing the insights that you could and did. Also,
- 32:41Speaker 2: I want to find these letters. So if anybody's listening,
- 32:44Speaker 2: hashtag find the Letters. Find the Letters. That's a good hashtag.
- 32:46Speaker 2: That's not capitalizing on Prince, that's helping our show. This
- 32:50Speaker 2: has been the Almost Famous podcast. I'm Ben Until next
- 32:53Speaker 2: time You've been.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Leslie followed the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 32:59Speaker 1: on iHeart Radio or subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.
