- Trinity Dirks: Welcome to Ranch Wives Unsupervised. the Wi-Fi is weak. And the opinions are strong. Okay, so wait, hold on. I love that you guys got married and it was a cute wedding, but I actually just need small detail. Rewind, how did he propose? I'm very invested in proposals, okay? I need to know. Tell me more. Okay, so April, his parents were calving. He originally was gonna put the ring in a tagger, and we were gonna go tagging calves. And then he was like, she's... Okay, so lace, ⁓ what's yours? I wanna know the gritty. Don't skip over any juicy details. Tell me all. What's the story? So, ⁓ kinda like Trinity where like we were like. blonde enough and she's just like gonna do it and get it done like I don't think she realizes she's just gonna take that thing into the Cavsier and move on and we're never gonna get it back and it's in that ear you probably would have done that or she'll dump it and you're missing it and we're it's in the yeah and he got it custom made yes like it took eight months in the same circle or like kind of in the same circle but not have actually met. You knew of each other. Yeah, because like his grandpa would come visit my grandparents and like my mom talked very highly of his grandpa but I didn't know him. and he went to church with all of my mom's side of the family like he went to that same church so when we'd go to church there he was there I just never So he probably would have proposed before but he didn't get the ring middle of April. He had it in the works for eight months already. Yeah. ⁓ dina . So he was ready to propose eight months before this basically. Yeah. He was waiting for the ring. He got it custom made. Okay so it wasn't like maybe the initial part was drawn out deciding if you guys were gonna date or whatever but the actual that part wasn't drawn out it was he was waiting ⁓ the ring. And he knew like he knew what He never crossed my radar at all. Oh, I guess so. Yeah. Oh, that's interesting. I do not. Small church. Yeah, it is. But I do. It to be smaller. Like, OK, yeah. So yeah. OK. But like, you know, my cousins were there. So why was I paying attention? I was not boy crazy. Like at all. I was like, I'm going to be 40 when I get married. I don't want to get married. wanted he'd like he I don't know if he took any of my brother's advice from the magazine I don't think so but not likely your ring is nothing like the magazines no yeah yeah and he like he took his ideas in to a guy that custom does rings and it's like I kind of want this and like can we add this and they they did it yeah yeah okay so you don't end up I want to, yeah, different. very different. You had a lot of younger ⁓ You kind of moming Yes, I'm the second oldest of ten. long time. And so I feel like... Yeah, there's ten of us. tagging a cow He did not, no. He didn't put it in the tagger. Because he was like, what if she loses it or tags it on a calf or like, you know. So he, I think he did actually have to work, but he was like, I have to go to work. Do you want to go to mom and dad's and get the calving stuff ready? We're going to go tagging. We're going to, if you want to grab the horses. And I'm the second oldest. Yeah. yeah, you were moming it for sure. Yeah. So that's also very different. Like, yeah. Yeah. ⁓ I I just wanted to like ⁓ go an adventure. really wanted to go to Mongolia. I've never, but I really wanted to. ⁓ I really want to, but I've never. Anyways. ⁓ So ⁓ yeah, like. Okay, so somebody asked Lacey about how I met Jorim and like getting into the dirty details of it, I guess. How did you end up married to a rancher and a cowboy when you are not? Yeah, when I said I was a city girl, okay. So my sister-in-law thought this was really funny because she's like, you're not a city girl. But like to Lacey, who's like a... we'll go tagging and stuff and then I'll meet you there. I just have to work for the morning. Right. So I was like, OK, sure. That's fine. So I went out and my horse was out of the fence with his neck wrapped around with twine in the hay bales, like the stack yard And I was like, what is wrong with you? Like, I know you're a special man, but like. ran in the same circles. All of my cousins knew who they were and stuff. so, and I was best friends with his cousin. Like growing up. Best friends. ⁓ you definitely were like in the same. But I don't remember meeting him. That's funny. That is funny. Did you guys meet and you just don't remember? I'm sure we must have, but like he also wasn't girl crazy. He always just ran with like him and his, he had. Ranch girl. I'm not a ranch girl. I'm this awkward... In between? In between. You're not like big city girl. You're like a town girl. Oh, a town girl, yeah. Like a village girl. A villager? You're a villager? Seriously? But come on. Yeah. Like what are you doing? How did you get here? Yeah. This is retarded. So I tied him up, whatever. And then like walked out to like catch his horse in the horse herd and his horse isn't there. And I was like, seriously? What is wrong with you guys? going on? So I'm just like. parents were also like, I don't know how you ended up married to a farmer. So that's so I think this is the question that people have. Okay, this is actually one of our biggest feedbacks is in that how we met our rancher episode. best friend at church. yeah, there was another family that they were like, and so his, like, they just, I don't know. I don't know. I should ask him if he ever remembers me. most people are just like, ⁓ they were the big Mennonite family that showed up in a van. Nobody actually knew us by name. We were just that family. ⁓ I'm sure I was just that. We didn't get into the dirty details. They were like, oh, you guys like, oh, we got married and then we got into it. But they were like, we wanted the love story. We need more information. We need more. So this is the episode on the dirty details. We're doing the more the as requested the more. Yes. So I guess. mad. Like, you're stupid. Yes. What is wrong with you? And so there was still snow because it's like middle of April. Yeah. All of a sudden I see horse ⁓ way across the field by some bush. And I'm like, OK, fine. I'll just I'll walk there. You'll probably run back to the ⁓ and it's fine. So I called David. I was like. Your horse is lost. ummm Yeah, you're looped in to the group Oh, the van has arrived. Yeah. So then, so my parent, my uncle on my mom's side started a trail rides camp years ago with his grandpa. They started it together. Yeah. So it's like changed, progressed, whatever. But so when I was 16, I went to camp. I was... How do I word this? I had a lot of crushes in high school. I was a little bit boy crazy. guess you could call it. ⁓ so, Jorim was homeschooled up until grade 12. All of his siblings did that. They all homeschooled and then in grade 12, they went to high school for the last year. ⁓ in the last year, Jorim... I found him, he's like way out at the bush line, but I'm gonna be a little while. So if you get home, just come help me because he's out there. He must not have worked because he had to drag his Now that I process this, anyways. He has to work on losing his horses. Yeah, so the more like, farther I walk out there, I'm like, okay. and he was at camp. And they needed TP leaders really bad. And so I TP led. You're not supposed to till you're 18. But they didn't have anyone. What's TB mean? Well, it's like cabin leader, except it's out. Like it's a trail ride camp. So you ride you live in tipis. ⁓ you sleep in a tipi, not a cabin. OK, got it. So tipi leader. I thought you said TB. ⁓ I was thinking like tuberculosis. ⁓ He did the carpentry program for the first semester. So then second semester, like in February, he finally came to school. Oh, so you didn't even get a full year. No. You had a semester to nail him down. Yes. OK, deal Tell me more. And so it's so funny because it's one of those like, what are you guys, what's it called when it's like. I don't understand. Why are you here? All the other horses are over there. And then there's like this tree that it's fallen. And all of sudden I'm like, he's stuck. He's stepped over a log and he's impaled himself or something and he's stuck on this tree. And like, why is he so retarded? So I was mad. And then he like, I get all the way up and I'm like, why? It's like the invisible string theory or whatever people call it. Have you heard of this? No. It's the invisible string. I call it God. Other people call it the invisible string. Okay. But it's where like your lives are just like right beside each other and then all of a sudden it like intersects. No, no, no. Okay. TP, go. That was just a key detail that I felt like I needed clarification on because I missed it. Yes, okay, yes. It's like a cabin leader. Perfect. And then, so he's a year older than me. So he was TP leading. The boys, so generally- 18 and you were 17? No, I was 16, he was 17. And he- because Jorim and I are the exact same age. We both went to youth group growing up. We both did the same youth No, different youth groups. But sometimes youth groups would come together and do stuff. yes, yes, yes. So we've been, and we have a lot of mutual friends. Some of his brothers were in choir, and I was in choir at the same time. ⁓ there's all these things that like... paths had crossed, but not completely. Yeah, we had gone very close. And then he also had twine around his neck and is stuck And I was like, my word. And then David came out. And ⁓ don't remember exactly what he said, but was like, did you find it? Or like something to the effect of like, it wasn't like, will you marry me? It was like, I think he was waiting for me to see, cause he'd put the ring in his horse's mane. ⁓ There's normally like one boy peepee and then like four girls because girls love horses. And he had a 16 year old camper that was like girl crazy. And like this guy married today. I have no idea. ⁓ that's funny. I didn't keep up with him after that. But he like he chased my campers hard. And I had like But never cross and then he did the carpentry program and I actually like my girlfriend was dating a guy in the carpentry program I had a crush on a different guy in the carpentry program So we were like hanging out with these guys and I still like did not notice him and Then I guess finally he came to school and I was like who is this new boy? I need to figure this out right now and it was like right by where he tied the string. Okay. But I was just mad. And he was like, something about, and I was like, why are you, how come you're here? Like, why are you so chill about this? Why are you here? Why are you here? And I had to wait out in the snow to go get your horse. When you were already here, you could have just, when I called and said, yeah, let me, why didn't you? Yeah. Why didn't you? Why are we not communicating? So I was like, yeah. the 13 year old girls. ⁓ no. And like he was bigger than me. And like he kind of scared me and he just kept chasing my my poor little campers. And I was like, you got to stop, man. Like, chill out. You have one week here. Go find some love somewhere else. Go ride your horse. Yeah, go away. Go find a trail. Yeah. Like we didn't come here to meet girls, especially not like 13 year old girls. Isn't that what camp is for? I don't know, week or two of him being there, I told my friend, I was like, I'm gonna get him to take me to prom. I was so, like there's nobody else I really wanted to go to prom with. like I was just mad. And then he was like, then he proposed. And then he's like, I was like, okay, yes. And then he's like, do you have the ring? And I was like, why would I have the ring? he's like, it was right. He's like, I put it in the horse's mane right by the knot. And I was like, I didn't see a ring. I a lot of guy friends, but like, yeah. You're like, I'm sourcing him. He's my target. That's who I'm going to prom with. He is who I'm going to prom with. So then it was like right before spring break. ⁓ my girlfriend was like going to his youth group because her guy friend was in this youth group. And she's like, ⁓ yeah, he goes to like this youth group. And I was like, OK, invite me to youth group. I need to be a plus one. Thanks. Love. Young love. Young love? Yeah. Anyways. Anyways. So that's when I, that's my first like memory of having to like talk to him and like do stuff with him. Cause I was like, your camper is chasing mine and he's like taking him to the bush and like, this ain't good. And I was like, no, he was like. Where's the horse at this point? has it It's right beside us. Oh, okay. I was like, it take He's just chilling right beside us. No, he hadn't taken off. He was just like hanging out. So then, yeah. I think I put a halter on him too even. Okay. Cause I was going to lead him And you didn't see this? no. Well, you're not This is why he did not put it in the That's valid. But you're not looking for a ring. No, I wasn't. You're just I wasn't. That's hilarious. So then that was it. That And so then I went to this youth group, totally random, very out of my comfort zone. I'm not really the person to be like, yeah, let's go do this. No. So then I was like, OK, I'm just going to go and see what happens. And then we went to Tim Hortons afterwards. That was the tradition. They would do youth group and then go to Tim Hortons afterwards. And we talked. Oh my goodness. And like he'd stay back on rides with this camper because so that he wasn't chasing the girls. And like he did he put a lot of work into like keeping that one. But I was like, he's like he's scaring me. Please, can you control your camper? Yeah, try. And it was hard because he had a whole bunch of other campers. He couldn't just he spent a lot of time chasing that one. But like, yeah. That's so funny. Our cowboys just like to lose their horses for us. Yeah. It's like a sign. If you are told that your horse, that your fiance's horse is lost, you'll probably propose. Yes. Go look for that horse. go find that horse because there's probably a ring on it or near it or about to happen. That's so funny. Okay, Breanna. for like a couple hours afterwards and then I was like, okay, yeah. Okay, yeah, he's gonna take me to He's gonna take me to prom. And then... Did you tell him that? Did you say you were taking, like, in your first... No. Oh, okay, I thought you were like, I was like, well, that's very straightforward for you. was gonna say, okay. I think that's when I told my friend, was like, that coffee, I was like, he's gonna take me to prom. This is it. This is it. This is the one. And so... So that was my first, and he's like an adrenaline junkie. So like when he wasn't chasing this poor camper, he was jumping off the woodshed roof and I don't even know all. And I was like, my word. Yeah. So I was like, I can't wait for this to be over. I'm done. don't want to do this Laceys like I'm done with this. Laceys like a week of people. Is too ⁓ I done. So then. You. Okay, so mine is not as conventional as this at all. Then like right before spring break there was like a barn dance that we kind of went to together, not together and then like we were kind of dating but not officially. You're hanging out. Because he had not talked to my parents yet. And so like nothing was official. Was that your stipulation or his stipulation to talk to your parents or both? Kind of both. Okay. That's how we both grew up. Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. It's like you talk to the dad and... before you. Yeah. you to date your daughter. ⁓ dated Keith's best friend, we started in high school. like Keith and I, okay no wait hold on, let's rewind. In middle school, we went to the same schools even though he's- was two years older than He's two, yeah. Cause he's a year older than Yeah, yeah that's correct, yes that's correct. So he's two years older than me. So we, like when I was in middle school we were, you know, whatever. Like there was lots of chances for our paths to cross. like in- Thanks for hanging out with us today on Ranch Wives Unsupervised. Yeah, I didn't really think about him or anything till the next year. He was at camp again. And. My family dropped me off, so I have two brothers that are younger than me. We're all very close in age, and so they were like my best friends. Their husband hunting for me, apparently. In my woodworking class when I was in grade seven, and he must have been grade nine, his best friend like cut, they came in to like help us with like the spoons or something like that. And his best friend cut his finger off in my woodworking class. I remember this. Yes. So like we had crossed paths, but I could not tell you who he was. Anything. And then high school, like same thing. Couldn't tell you. So anyways, we texted like a lot obviously. The day and age where we just like texting all the time and then... Yeah, I don't know. was like, I really like this boy. And then, I don't know, he asked me to prom and we went to prom together and then I left for Scotland for six months. I did like a missions trip and I was like, hey, if we can make it through this and like, we're getting married after this. And we were both like, yeah, like that's kind of the goal was like, I do my missions trip and then get married. That's where we're going. Yeah. So, yeah. Okay. Did. So, for your best interest. good brothers. So apparently, they spent the entire ride home arguing about the fact that they had found this guy for me. And I was like, I didn't know, because I was just at camp. Yeah, you were still at camp. I was TP-leading. Yeah, they're on the way home. So I don't know anything about this yet. But they're arguing the whole way home. Like, I have found the perfect guy for Lacey. And then both back and forth. He would have been 16 and... And then just after I graduated, I was dating one of his good friends. so Keith was like always around. I always thought he was like really kind. I was like, he's way out of my league. Like he was quiet, that kind of thing, right? And I remember I had gotten my wisdom teeth. Did you share, I don't think you shared like the proposal. No, I guess not. That's a pretty good story. Yeah. story, isn't it? Okay, so. Okay, sorry. I do have one question. Did you know that his family, like at this point when you're dating, you're in Scotland, did you know that he was going to be farming cowboying? Like was that? Yeah, so he, okay, yeah, I guess. So he was farming at this point with his family when we were dating. you know, high school farming. 15, 16, 15, yeah. Because I was 17 then. Okay, so this is the next year? It was the next year. Okay, next year. The next year. Yeah, so they're like, whatever, arguing about this. They're like, no, I found the perfect guy. No, I found the perfect guy. Yeah, Like the whole way home. And it's like an hour and a half drive, or two hours. Yes, two hours. Home. It's like, yeah. gosh. Finally they got there and one of them was like, okay, who's yours? and I was at this boy, his, this boyfriend's, like Austin's mom had invited us over for like dinner my mom had come with because she'd flown up to like take care of me because I don't do good on. She flew up? Yeah they were living in Kamloops at the time. I did not know that. Yeah so anyway she flew up to like take care of me and mama dunc had like invited us out for dinner. ⁓ the boys were like working on truck. You know, the usual. And then I went to... How did this work? I went to Scotland. He was still farming. So I came back in July. Him and his brother came and picked me up and we traveled a little bit. That was fun. I came back in July and then in December we got engaged. In September I knew we were getting engaged. You tell me. Lorn was like David Thompson and Riley was like, same. Why have we been arguing about this whole time? That's like men in a nutshell. then instead of like now, instead of focusing their attention on like fighting with each other, they're like, how are we going to get her to marry him? I was like, I don't There were so many people. probably something in the shop. usual. The usual. And Keith had come in for dinner with Aust and I don't know, must have taken, my mom's really huge on a certain thing. He had taken his hat off at the dinner table. Yeah. And helped clean up, things like that. And my mom and I got in this huge fight leaving there. Because she's like, I was like, this is happening. He talked to my dad about it. He didn't get the ring till December. I was like, well, what are you doing? ⁓ He was still farming. But we had a conversation where he was like, I don't. Really rooting on this. Rooting for you. Yeah. Behind the scenes really. This will be a perfect match. And meanwhile you're like, boys who? Yeah, I don't want, I don't really like him. I don't like not like him, but I don't like him. that was my question. Yeah. Yeah, like I'm very indifferent. Yeah. I don't. You don't want to be the other. So at the end of the first week, so there's, they do three camps. So at the end of the first week, they came back to camp. you know what, honestly think you should be dating his friend and I was like, how dare you say that? Like just. My boyfriend's friend? Yeah, like just, like just the world. We got into this massive argument. Anyways, so then it was just funny. And so then like a couple of years later, obviously Austin and broke up and everything like ended fine. Like it wasn't a big deal. Yeah, like you're still friends. Like mutual, like whatever. So I can't remember. ⁓ I remember exactly where we were. We were at the Surerus of Ball Diamonds, sitting in his truck, hanging out and talking. And I just remember he's just like, kind of want to apply to this ranch because he knew David was working there. He's like, this guy I know, I had no idea who David was at this point. He's like, this guy I know from Cecil Lake is working at this ranch with his wife and it's really cool. And I kind of want to work there, but I don't know. And I was like, just apply. Just do it. But of course, you're leaving your family farm. Yeah, no I do. So I was living with a girl in a basement suite with Katie. And anyways, I went to a Christmas party. ⁓ no, prior to this, he'd sent me pictures. Keith had sent me pictures. and they had teamed up. They said, we have a plan. We have a man for you. And I was like, And they're like, you need to marry David. And I was like, whoa, whoa. I don't really like him. He's a little bit crazy. I would describe David as rugged. Yeah. He's rugged. He's just. of the first gen Dually which was And so there was like this big joke when we were all in high school, whenever Austin broke up with a girl, he would like rebuild the first gen like really, really nice. Yeah. So two girls like broke his heart and got like, he built these like really nice trucks. For them? No, just like, that's ⁓ This was his therapy. That was like his therapy. Whatever it was, that's what he did. And so the joke was, this was like such a weird thing to joke about, but I was like, when we break up, you better rebuild. deal that's a lot it's a very different step too I think it's an important step like really important yeah however it is a huge yeah it's massive yeah and so because he wanted to cowboy yeah like he saw David doing it I want to do that this broke life is for me the broke life is for me and so then I was like just apply it just like I don't know what's holding you back just do it When he's very him, I was like he like A he doesn't talk to girls. Yeah. Fair. B like he likes to jump off of things. All the dangerous. Yeah. He's just like not only is Lacey not boy crazy, she's like, I don't need a bad boy either. I don't know what this is. This is too crazy. So then. Yeah, by the end of like the third camp, I was like, hmm, OK. And then. that truck like I love that truck that better be the nicest truck you rebuilt he never rebuilt it and I remember like being like I can't believe I didn't get a breakup truck I think he got the job right away. I can't remember that. Because then I think he moved in in February or something. I don't know when he applied, but it I don't know when he applied either, but... But then he moved in to this grungy old house. It was my old house. It was fabulous. Did you upgrade? He moved in. Yeah, we upgraded. He moved into the dump. Yeah. He like woke up one night and there was a rat, like coming at him The window broke out in the bedroom when we were living there. Yeah. It just shattered? Yeah. Oh. his horse would happen to be in line with my horse during the rides. Wait, who's setting that up? He did. David did? Yeah. OK. So he obviously He was in on this at this point. So he knew. I don't think my brothers talked to him, but I think he liked me. his cousin, at camp, ⁓ his cousin and I, Erin played a couple of pranks. And then after that, like, Keith had sent me pictures of him working on this truck. I was like, did you buy the dually? He's like, yeah. And I was like, OK, I'll make you dinner if you take me for a ride. Or just pick me up in that truck. I would love that. anyways, so then that was a couple prior. I had this Christmas party. And the girls were going out afterwards. And I was like, ⁓ no, I'm going out with you kind of thing. And so. ⁓ And the doors never stayed shut. The wind always caught them. had to like... Yeah, and so... Jorim moved there and then in August I moved in. Like when we got married. I moved in. Everyone knew us as the pranksters at camp and there were a lot of pranks that went on that we got blamed for and we never did. But the one time we were told that the wide game was going to be they had to come look for us. We needed to steal the tuck key because we were in camp that day. So we took the tuck key and went and laid out in the hills in the grass and just chatted for like three hours waiting for these campers to find us. They never did. Cause I couldn't keep up with them so I was like yeah like I don't, that's okay I'm not gonna go out. And so I had said like I need a ride, cause they were my ride I was supposed to be going with them, you know what I mean right? But then you're like no. Plan's changed, like it just didn't work out. And so then I was like, I mean I probably And then I kind of knew of Lacey, like Jorim had talked about you and I kind of met you like once or twice and then all of a sudden you were just like, hey come over for this girls night thing and I was like, okay. I don't know anybody, like I didn't know anybody at this girls night. You're the newest wife to this. Well, it wasn't even that, like Brooklyn was there. Oh, so wasn't all the wives of other I don't even remember, I honestly don't remember this night. It was a young living thing. Cause. That you invited me to. Oh, okay, yeah. And... could have just walked. wasn't that far. I didnt . for whatever reason. it because it was December. I just didn't. ⁓ I had texted the number that I had for Keith and it like shot back as like undeliverable like something. Yeah. That's weird. But I hadn't texted him in... We didn't realize that they were technically playing the joke on us. Yeah. Because like they were like, they campers. Ha ha ha. They're just going to hang out by themselves and you're like, this is the best. Yeah, I know. It like, I don't have to look after my campers. This is fabulous. Anyways, laying on that hill, she was like, you should marry David. I thought nobody's like, you need to date. You need to get to know. They're like, you're marrying. I think the only reason I ever had his number was because I was supposed to be picking him and Aust up stuff at some point Yeah, ⁓ like you know what I mean, so like that number wasn't a thing anymore and so Which is funny because I feel like nobody switches numbers, but Keith Keith had yeah, so I called and I was like hey, I need Keith's number He's like yeah, well, I'm actually just working with him in the shop like what do you want? I was like no just text me like just give me his number He's like no he's like right here something to that effect I was like no just give me his number kind of thing like I wouldn't Remember like I knew of your sister-in-law because I kind of knew of your brother because yeah, he's more my age Yeah, and so I've like heard of him or whatever like a small town you ⁓ kind of know people So then I was like, okay, I'm just gonna go make some friends Jorim like it. It'll be good for you I really like David like Lacey rides. She's cool. I'm not like that at all. How am I gonna survive? And then after that you were just like It's probably because like she knew him. She knew me. Yes. She's like, this will work. Like you should just marry him. You should marry him. And so then I was like, if she said it. ⁓ but more than your brother saying it. So had she said this after your brother said already? Yeah, my brother said already. OK, so in your mind, are you like. like all summer long, everyone's like, you should marry David. Yeah. And he had the beginning. He'd kind of liked a different girl, I think, or. He's like well, I was like I just need a ride welcome get you I like no no just make you just give me the number kind of thing anyways I finally get this number I text we said like hey is there any chance you can pick me up with this Christmas party Why we got here? I don't know I had just decided you were like I need Keith to pick me up Yeah, I just decided like hey, I'm gonna. I'm gonna shoot my shot like whatever He picks me up. We like start hanging out You were just like sharing like so openly about like anything and everything and I was like, ⁓ she's kind of cool. Like she's really open like and I'm just like this little nut shell that does not like to open up. Like please don't crack me actually. Yeah. So then I was like, oh, she's cool. And then we started having like fires in our backyards because our because then we moved houses over. Yeah, you moved to a better house, which was like 10 feet from where we were before. Yeah. How does it work? How did you I mean, I guess this isn't really relevant to the love Our fireplace was between. But we had like a little yeah, we made like a fire pit. I thought he liked a different girl. So I was like, well, he doesn't even like me. Yeah. Whatever. And then the last one, she's like, he's riding with you. Like, he should not end up right behind you every single day. Like, he likes you. Yeah, he's definitely got a crush. That's so cute. So that and then the base camp needed cabin leaders. So I went there for a couple of weeks. And it's very unconventional, like, it's very Keith. I did not know if he was into me or not. Yeah, at all. he would like hang out with me for a couple days, text me back. He's not a fast text, but he'd be like making plans. And then I kid you not. just ghosted you. I would not hear from him for days. Days. three to five business days or five to 10 business days even sometimes. And I was like... It was like right in between our two was right between. Okay, but sorry. And then we would just like be like, hey, supper tonight? Yeah. And then we would just like bring our own food and but how are we moving? Like, other cowboy moves out and you guys like shoddy? didn't think about it. I was like, whatever, it was camp. I maybe kinda had, I was like, maybe I like him. I don't really know. You're like, what is this? But everyone was like, you need to like him. You need to marry him. But then I went to camp, whatever, or like the base camp. And so he didn't text or anything. Right. Did you have each other's numbers at this point? I didn't even have a phone. Right. I'm so confused. Like, we go for dinner, you know, whatever. So this was like in the spring, I guess. And I finally was like, OK. What are we doing? What's happening? Like, I really like you. If this isn't going anywhere, like, that's OK. I don't want to wreck a friendship over it either. And so there was like, it was kind of awkward. Right. Like I had dated his best friend. Yeah. So like our circles had overlapped in a lot of ways. But we also he was really concerned about wrecking the relationship with his best friend, with his best friend, but also his family. And I was really close with Austin's family as well. So I was like. So who was he texting? He didn't text anyone. So my, we had like a kid's phone. So if we went to town or something, we take the phone. Yeah, everybody just shared a phone. So yeah. I think my brothers kept it most of the time because they were, they were texting girls. I think they were texting him. really see this as a problem, to be honest. Like, everything happened, like we're good, whatever. So anyways, finally I was like, what are we doing? Like, I really, I was so forward, and I don't know where this confidence come from, because this had never happened in previous relationships. But I was like, what are we doing? Because if we're gonna do this, that's great. If we're not, then I'm not. They had magazines and like when he'd come, so he'd come for the weekend, this is jumping ahead, but they'd bring out magazines and go ring shopping for him. Okay, so I guess like my question is, like how do you, how are we all moving? Like a cowboy moves out and you guys just shoddy like or whoever steps foot into the other house first? how? Yeah, it's and it's on. ⁓ there was an outhouse so they would purposely like leave him sitting at a fire or leave him ⁓ so that he'd be alone with my dad. ⁓ then they'd go to the outhouse because can see through the peep hole ⁓ were very invested in this. were very invested. yeah. I'm just trying to picture them. Like how long you've been there too? Packing order. So yeah, so if you've been there the longest, you get upgraded, which is why we got the new house when Jorim and Trinity were moving and they got our old house. We got the new house. They had to move into the old there were four, was it four houses in a row? Yeah. In that row? And then there was one. the last one. There was a guy. I'm not gonna invest any more time. Yeah, like that's okay if we're not no hard feelings, but like I don't want to spend doing this. He's like, yeah, no, like we're yeah, that's fine. Like, let's do it. And I was like, okay. So like we're dating at this point and then we had dated. This was like in and around this conversation must have happened just before I'd come out the one time to go coyote hunting afterwards. Yeah. Like it was like, yeah, like the perfume incident, right? Like, so it was in and around that time. So then we were, we'd been dating and we dated for like a year, a year and a half, I guess. And then he proposed. I feel like we all dated for like a year and a half. Yeah, that's kinda... Was he right beside us? I don't even remember. I think he was right beside us and he was in that one and he didn't want to move like when we had the chance to move because the guy who was there left Yeah, then he did I don't think he wanted to move because all this stuff was in there. Anyways, the one house was empty There were two houses empty at the very start and then it was him and then us and so when In the outhouse of all places. It was where they could hide. Oh, no makes sense It's a good spot. So yeah, was like two months after I came back from that, he, don't, I think he must have texted Lorn or something. I don't know. And he came out for the weekend and then he started coming for like the weekend every second or third weekend. He'd come out. Spending time. So he was spent. Yeah. And your parents were building a Mine was longer, but yeah. And so when we were dating, his granddad was sick, so he was out, like out here. Yeah. Pretty much full time. He was working out. He was working out here for that like spring summer into like just after we, just before we weaned, I think, or something like that. So yeah, anyways, we like, we were out here, we're kind of learning, I was learning the ropes, that kind of thing, and then. the people who were there before moved then Jorim and I were like, yeah, we want the nice house. And it was like a big house. He was man, like it was the manager's house. He the manager for like a really long time. And then he retired. So it switched management, but there was a bigger, there was really nice log house. Yeah, because we moved. Yeah. So then... So he had a reason to come out. Yeah. An excuse. Yeah, exactly. He was visiting Lorne. He put in the sweat hours to earn your hat. He really liked Lorne. Yeah, he really liked your brother. Yeah. And then, yeah, so and they take him like they liked him. So then they'd like... farther, like not in the yard site So the new manager took that house instead of coming into the yard site So then you guys got the old managers. Yeah. OK, because I was like, how are we deciding? Which looking back, it's really interesting. It's a very nice house, but it felt very empty. in February, it was the day before COVID shut the world down. He proposed to me on a Sunday and like a big announcement went out Monday or Tuesday of like everything getting shut down. Yeah, like it was crazy. And so we were at church on the Sunday, we come out here, which was pretty typical. We spent a lot of our weekends out here when we were dating. And so this was in like February, I think. he'd come out and then all of sudden they disappear with him for like an entire afternoon. So at what point did you start liking him? I don't really know. brothers are very invested, but at what point were you like... It was an alone almost like I felt very empty and alone living there like our first house I actually really loved that house like it was so It had a lot of character. I'm not gonna lie. a lot of character It was like falling apart But I don't know like ruined We had we were there for in that one for a year maybe and like the floor was so uneven it thundered like it wrecked my washing machine because the it wouldn't ⁓ what point were you like, yeah, I like wanna marry him? Yeah, well, I was like... Because for me, it was like right away. So he... I knew I liked him then and he obviously really liked me because he was very dedicated to putting up with my brothers. Yes. I liked him and I was like, yeah, I think maybe. end of February something like that I can't remember anyways he was like ⁓ I need to work on the truck but I also want to go snowshoeing and these snowshoes that sounds so stupid we hauled these snowshoes home from Montreal ⁓ like or Quebec yeah somewhere yeah he went on a training trip and I jumped in like along with them so anyways like that was fine but then these snowshoes were we couldn't check them It would spin crooked, right? the floor is so then your agitator's all messed up Yeah. And I just hand washed. Because there's no dishwasher Yeah, the dishwasher didn't work. So then after this, then Jorim... And then he went to Mongolia for three months in January. he went. He went. He went. OK. For three months. We didn't talk. We didn't nothing for three months. ⁓ that's crazy you didn't even talk. But I prayed about it like every day, every day, and was just like, if he is going to be the ⁓ I marry just give me peace. And he came back and I was like, I'm going to marry him. Well then management changed. Hold on, you skipped an important detail. I wanna know how got, how the question was asked. Like don't get me I love this cowboy story. I wanna know, I gotta know the backside Okay, okay. Of it. How did you get engaged? Yeah. Yes. Okay, I guess. I feel like that was the question. It was. And then I bypassed No, no, it's okay. Or something like that. We didn't check them so they were like, you had to carry them through like three different airports. It was just like an ordeal. anyways, he's like, yeah we should like committed to these snowshoes. Very much so. And have you been using these snowshoes? We use them occasionally. Probably not as much as the effort that it took to get them home. But I think this was like maybe the second or third time we'd went out. Or no, it probably just like the first or second time we'd went out using these snowshoes. Okay, so it was December finally. I was waiting for like three months. I had told my girlfriend in September on her birthday I was like, Jorim is gonna propose soon and then it's like November December and she's like dude Like what's going on and I was like, I don't know But then So it was like a year and a bit into him visiting Lorne. Yeah, and that's when I was like, and then we had a conversation and I was like, or he was like, I wanna marry you. And I was like, yes. Yes. Yes. And then I'm gonna work on the duly, which we all know. Just like, yeah, okay, cool, you can work on the truck. Because we spent a lot of time working on, me, just sat pretty, I didn't actually work on anything. Maybe handed him a tool, but didn't actually work on it. So anyways, he was like, I was like, oh, go work on the truck, like I'll do something. I don't know, his mom was gone, but I can't remember what I was doing. Anyways, he was like getting mad. Yeah, so we went to church together and then typically we go to second service, but this Sunday I had my nephew, he had a sleepover. I don't know why we had him. Anyways, he had a sleepover and then I was up really early with him and we just hanging out and then Jorims like, well, why don't we go to first service? And I was like, okay, sure. And then. Like, he's like, otherwise I'm gonna leave. If you don't wanna marry me. If this isn't going anywhere, I'm done. And I was like, no, I wanna marry you. And that's when it just really kinda, cause we both knew what we wanted. How old were you guys? He was 19. He was 19. And then... Working on this truck like this. It wasn't going well, whatever it was like a dif issue Whatever the issue was like wasn't going well, and so he's like that's it. I'm not working on the truck We're going snowshoeing and I was just like we don't ⁓ Okay. Well, we don't have to go snowshoeing like it's okay. Nope. We're going ⁓ While we were at church, his brother was at home like doing all the things. So Jorim had tied his horse up. So his brother tied his horse up, did all these things like prepped, helped get a bunch of stuff together for him so that Jorim could just like go to town and hang out with his girlfriend. Okay, we can go snowshoeing. So we're like hiking up the mountain. the mountain. The mountain, no. The hill behind us. It's snowshoes. Yeah. It's a mountain. It's a mountain. the following November, I moved in with ⁓ his aunt. His aunt, because it was Erin's, like it was Erin's mom. Yeah. And then ⁓ April, he proposed and we got married the May 31st. We're just like going up behind his parents house. It's beautiful up there. We're like look over the whole valley like it's so pretty and then we're going back down and he was like ⁓ there's like this cut line and I'm like ahead of him which is weird because I have no directional sense to save my life like I have none and so he's like yeah you'll see like there's a cut line there's a cut line and I was like okay I'm looking I am like busting a move looking for this trail that we're supposed to go meanwhile he's behind me like down on one knee and I was Meanwhile, his brother's in the background just like hustling. And we pass him. He is so late for church, which is like kind of on brand for Jorims family. But he was like so late for church. was like, wow, like he's really late. Like what is this? That's really bad. He's really late for church. It's like, what is this guy doing? So then we get there. has he been doing all this morning? On this winter morning. So we get there. You got married in like two months? eight weeks? Six weeks. Six? Because we got engaged the middle of April. ⁓ wow. Because they were calving. His parents were calving. were gonna wait till August but there was just circumstances that were going on around us and we just needed to do it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's fair. Wow. This is like a drawn out... Kind of drawn out. Not your wedding part but like... And Jorims family knew that this was gonna happen. I will find this cut line. Yeah, I'm like trying to find it. He's like, Brea And turn around, he's down on one knee and I was like, oh my gosh, and I guess, I don't remember, I'm sure he said a lot of things. I don't remember. No. Anything that he said. And I guess I was just like squealing. Seems like you. Yeah, yeah, like I was just like, ah, like whatever. And he was like so. ⁓ And like, I just need to grab something from my room. ⁓ I hear the ring box close. ⁓ you knew? You heard clack ⁓ I knew. What, was he just double checking it was in ⁓ And like, I just need to grab something from my room. ⁓ I hear the ring box close. ⁓ you knew? You heard clack ⁓ I knew. What, was he just double checking it was in I think he grabbed the ring out and put it in his pocket. Oh, and then he should have left it open. should have left it open. I think he grabbed the ring out and put it in his pocket. Oh, and then he should have left it open. should have left it open. So one thing I remember is him getting up with the ring being So is it a yes? Are you saying yes? Like he didn't- because I just didn't say anything. That's what I remember. just screeching? Yeah, I was just like screeching I guess. And then we'd like go back into his parents' house and his brother and sister-in-law were there because we were going to have family dinner. Once we knew, yeah, I mean, and we knew, and I didn't want anything big and fancy anyways. I just so, like we just got married on the river hills and had a barbecue. So like it wasn't like I needed a big shebang for it. No, I sewed my wedding dress. Tip to any viewers that are about to get it. I need to do that. Leave the ring box open if you have to grab the ring. Yes. Dead giveaway. Do not close it. So I heard it close and I was like, okay. All right Okay. So then we went out to the horses and then Jorims like, oh no. they, don't know if they knew or they were just like, something was up maybe, kind of thing, because I come in just like, ⁓ so excited. funniest thing is, is I always like kind of pictured my engagement as like, this very like, photo. ⁓ A horse is missing? Where is it? It's like so cheesy. No, that's so, okay, it would have been super cute, especially if you had, I mean, it is super cute actually. It's very cheesy, but super cute. Especially for Jorim I mean, that's like a cute little hopeless romantic right there. I'll give them that. But also, had you not heard the ring box close, do you think that would have played differently into? I think it might have. Photogenic? Photogenic. I'm like in old Carhartt's hit, you know, I'm in Carhartt's that had the crotch ripped out of him because I can't not rip him out and like his old Stanfield and we're like bundled up. So like it wasn't... Yes. Anyways, but it was super cute. And we come in and we're like talking to his brother and then his mom comes like ripping home and she comes ripping up the stairs and she's like looking which is like super... Because then it would I was like, ⁓ where's his horse? What's going on here? I'm just thinking, OK, what's going on? Just wondering where this is going, basically, with this horse being gone. Anyways, then he's like, ⁓ it's over there. It's tied up to the tree. And we're like, it's cold. My gloves are on. I'm bundled up. This is middle of December in northern Canada. I'm so cold. Freezing. And then. of the character for her. she's like, I knew it was gonna be today. I knew it. I just had this feeling. I knew it. And I was like, that's so stinking cute, Keith was probably like, I'm gonna propose to Brea this month or whatever, right? Yeah, I don't know. just had mentioned it or something. Yeah, and so, but he had the ring. He bought the ring. I was like looking at the neighbors like Jorims like I'm gonna untie the horse and I was just like I was not even think about the proposal at this point I was just like fine. This is miserable. Yes. I was like I'm cold. I'm just ⁓ And then he's just like on the ground like waiting ⁓ in November originally. And you got engaged in February? February or March. Yeah. My goodness. So he had the ring for like a long time. But then I guess this like really kind lady where he bought the ring from, I called him, was like, actually the same one with like that's bigger or whatever is on sale is cheaper than the one he bought. So they like exchange like anyways, he picked up a bigger one. Well, what I didn't know is this ring came in Christmas Eve. And I hate being late. like and then I think finally I turn around or he said something and then he proposed and I don't remember what he said I don't remember any of that and then he like gave me the ring and I like took my glove off put it on put the glove back on like I didn't even look at it I was just like okay let's get back inside so then his family came to things. And Christmas is like a big deal for me. I love Christmas. And we're supposed to go to Christmas at my dad's. My dad's is like steadily the 24th, like all those things. And Keith was like, yeah, like I got to work on the 24th, that kind of thing. I was like, that's kind of weird, but like, whatever. I didn't think much of it. Well, he had ripped down to go get this ring. To Grand Grand Prairie to go get it. and was running late home. He got pulled ⁓ After this, did, like we used to always do like family lunch on Sunday after church. We would all just come back to the farm and do a lunch. Cause he only had two siblings married at this point. We were the third to get married and then he had three after get married. And ⁓ so they all knew that this happened. But me being like, I don't like to be the center of attention unless like I'm like, stuff and I had no idea like we had talked about marriage and we had talked about all these things and I remember me like is this ever gonna happen are we ever gonna actually yeah do it kind of thing and so yeah anyways he'd had the ring for like months was just sitting on it and then finally asked me and so that was all exciting and then yeah we got married in September doing a joke or like, you know, I don't like to have the attention all on me. I didn't say anything. I was like cold as ice. ⁓ So we had like six months, but it was awkward too because a COVID wedding, we'd invited all these people like hoping that things would lift, ease up. then I had to uninvite like a hundred people. had two days. Yeah. You had one day for just the wedding and wasn't it like a hundred people? Yeah, no, it was 50. And then we were going to have friends out to come play games and stuff afterwards, but it didn't really like totally pan out that way just due to other circumstances that would come up. Jorims brother had brought his girlfriend to the farm on this day. And she knew she had never been to the farm yet. And so she came in and I was, kind of knew her from mutual friends already. And I was like, I want to be friends with her, whatever. So then I grabbed her and I was like, let's do a house tour. Like I was showing her the house everybody's like so awkward. Like dying. Waiting to know if it happened or like they're probably like, did she say no? Is there a ring on her finger? What's going on? ⁓ But yeah, so we had to awkwardly uninvite a bunch of people and most of it was family. We did have a few friends, I think like 10 friends in total, not many. But it was a party, it was still a lot of fun. But it was just like a whirlwind of craziness planning a wedding. And honestly, we didn't need six months to plan it. Because everything comes to a head at two months anyways. It's true. Like did this happen? there big news that we're forgetting to mention? Yeah, so then I think finally one of his siblings was like so And then we were like, yeah, we're engaged. yeah, by the way Yeah, and that's that okay, and I had never stepped foot on a farm I did not know the difference between farming and ranching when I had met Jorim Regardless, it's stressful. It's just like if you're booking a venue and you're photographer and stuff like that then yeah You do need more time. Yeah, but if you're doing like a backyard wedding like it really really doesn't matter But yeah, it was a big old party. Okay, so how old were you guys when you got married? I would have been 21 okay. Yeah, I guess 23 23 something like that. Yeah actually just no September's this would have been just before my 21st birthday. Okay. Yeah, just wait a little but yeah Like I literally asked Jorim, I remember asking him like, what is the difference between farming and ranching? And he was like, I like her. Yeah. ⁓ Why do I like her? ⁓ like, ⁓ okay. ⁓ ⁓ can work, I think. ⁓ can, she can learn. It's okay. ⁓ It's okay. We hadn't been ranching at that point anyways, so. ⁓ yeah, it was fine. It's very interesting though. And I definitely was not ready for ranch life or farm life, but... And I guess we never clarified. old were you? has two kids. Oh, we were both 19. We were turning 20. Like we got married in August and then his birthday is September and I'm November. I think his family made it really easy to like integrate into like his mom made it really easy to like Take us under her wing like all my sister-in-laws. It's been like a nice slow like getting into it It wasn't like you're a part of the farm now. You're doing suppers every single day this week Like no she did suppers for the first couple years like and I would take them out and stuff It was like a slow you guys had a program. Yeah kind of training Yes, and it was nice because for me like my other sister-in-laws just like dove So, oh yeah, you're almost yeah, but my brother got married when he was and he was 19 or 20 My sister got married when she was 19 or 20. So like yeah, was just like, oh, yeah, this is what we do. But my brother was like He was like, oh my gosh, you're getting married at 19 because for them It was like a little bit more of a struggle getting married at 19, right? So he was like, are you sure you want to do this? I was like, yeah totally And I like old when we got married because you like our friend group. Yeah about married relatively into it. Whereas when we were dating, I was on the combine until 2 a.m. with him. Right. we were dating. So I was like, sure, I'll hang out with you. Yeah. Like I knew most of the fields already. Like I knew the ropes of it a little bit. Yeah. I just wasn't like in it. Yeah. Yeah. So that was. That's funny. Yeah. That's good. That's really good. Yeah. I like it. Like between 18 and 20. Yeah, totally. That's what you do here, basically. Anyways, I was gonna clarify. Lacey has two kids. Oh, yeah. I have two kids. Breanna does not have kids. Oh, yeah, right. There is an episode. I think it's the first or second episode. She was saying, oh, we had the kids on the weekend. she's just a very great aunt. Yeah, I just had the kids, like my nieces and nephews were out. can we try and take them out on the farm? They live close. They live very So they get to hang out. to come side by side or whatever. Come check out. Your nephew loves Keith. Every time I'm there. Keith is the favorite. Uncle Keith is pretty cool. We actually just, we took the kids just briefly yesterday because they have a cow that we've named Honey because she looks like Honey. she had a calf. So we had to go see. Yes, we had to go check on her. had to go see Honey, go see the baby. What's the baby's name? We didn't name it, but Honey has a baby. It should be like comb. Like Honey comb. That's cute. But yes, so we had to go check out. ⁓ yeah, I don't have kids just ⁓ when I'm talking about their kids, they're not my kids They are a niece a nephew or somebody like somebody's kids that are hanging out with us. Yeah, that goes Yeah, I listened back to it and I was like, ⁓ sounds like you have kids. you ⁓ get on the weekend just occasionally Yeah, think we should do like little ⁓ Shout out to our husbands, since we're talking about them. Yeah, might as well. It's a great idea. A little shout out. Yeah. What's yours? Who has a shout out? I have a shout out. ⁓ Shout out to Keith for being very, very on the ball this week. We're calving. It's a bit crazy. We have moved a lot of things to make this happen this week and we had some tough things happening with calving as you always do. Something comes up and it's just really hard. We had some losses and he was just really calm and a good rock and I just appreciate that. Not only that, he actually, shout out to him on the, the podcast, he was like helping me move things around this morning and like get set up. So not only is he the sponsor, the, you know, he's also the laborer to help get things sorted out. So we love him for that. Okay. I'll shout out Jorim ⁓ What am I gonna say? I had an idea and now I'm like blanking. I would say this last week, like I've been doing, I've been more busy and he has been like crazy busy, but he's still like finding time to hang out with his kids and be with them and. Like he's been very, I'd say he's been a lot more spacey this last couple of weeks with seeding starting and everything. But then he still like shows up for us. Very intentional. Yeah. And I really appreciate that. We love that. Mine would be for David to, he got done work a couple of weeks ago and he's been home. and just he's we're trying to build the summer and he is putting so much effort in and he's trying to build me my dream house not just make it functional yeah we love that yeah so it'll take longer but it will be so worth it so he is yeah dedicated to learning all the skills and making it my dream yes ⁓ That's
