Transcript
- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo! Episode 163. I'm Lucas, and with me is Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm Luna. I'm ready for more fruity fun. Last time we did mango and papaya. Lucas: Right, and today we're adding two more fruits: apple and grape. In Amharic, apple is ፖም. Say it with me, Luna: ፖም. Luna: ፖም. That's short and sweet! Lucas: Exactly. And grape is ወይን. Repeat after me: ወይን. Luna: ወይን. Hmm, that's a bit trickier. Lucas: You got it. Now let's use them in sentences. 'I want an apple' is ፖም እፈልጋለሁ. Try that, Luna. Luna: ፖም እፈልጋለሁ. So 'I want' is እፈልጋለሁ, and we add the fruit before it. Lucas: Perfect. Now 'I want grapes' is ወይን እፈልጋለሁ. Go ahead. Luna: ወይን እፈልጋለሁ. Nice! So same pattern. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you want to say 'this is an apple', it's And 'this is a grape' would be ይህ ወይን ነው? Lucas: Yes! Well done. Luna: Great. So how would I say 'I like grapes'? I remember from earlier episodes, 'I like' is እወዳለሁ. So... Lucas: Exactly right! You're getting good at this. Luna: Thanks! And 'I like apples' is ፖም እወዳለሁ. Easy. Lucas: You bet. Let's do a quick practice. Imagine you're at the market. You see apples and grapes. Point to the apples and say 'this is an apple'. Lucas: And you want to buy some grapes. You tell the vendor 'I want grapes'. Luna: ወይን እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: Perfect. You're all set for fruit shopping. Now, a quick break from fruits. If you're enjoying these episodes, you know they take time and love to make. A couple of dollars a month at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo really helps keep them coming. No pressure, but if you've gotten something out of them, it means the world. Luna: Yeah, totally. It's what keeps us ad-free and focused on teaching. Now, back to fruits! Can we review all four fruits we know now? Mango, papaya, apple, grape? Lucas: Great idea. Mango is ማንጎ, papaya is ፓፓያ, apple is ፖም, and grape is ወይን. Repeat after me: ማንጎ, ፓፓያ, ፖም, ወይን. I love how different they sound. Lucas: Now let's put them in a sentence. 'I want mango and grape' is Try that. And if I want apple and papaya: ፖም እና ፓፓያ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: Perfect. You're a natural. So that's our episode today: apple ፖም, grape ወይን, and how to use them in simple sentences. Practice these phrases until we meet again. Luna: Thanks for joining us on Learn Amharic with Fexingo. See you next time! Lucas: Keep practicing, and we'll catch you in the next episode.
