- 0:00Numbers chapter 6, let us pray, Father, God, who loves us, who
- 0:09rescued us, Father of lights, the one who is so incredibly
- 0:15close to us, Lord, we come to you today, Father, we're asking,
- 0:21Father, for forgiveness. We're asking for healing today,
- 0:26God. Show up and show off and show
- 0:28out, God. Rescue those to the utmost,
- 0:33Father. Your arm is not too short to
- 0:35save God. We receive our forgiveness
- 0:39today. We receive our healing today.
- 0:42We receive the atonement, Father, the atonement, Father.
- 0:46We receive our justification, God.
- 0:50We receive your righteousness, Lord.
- 0:53What a scandalous exchange for our sinfulness.
- 0:56God. I pray, Father, that you'll make
- 0:59us holy as you are. Holy God, I pray that we can
- 1:03gird up our loins to stand in your holy presence, Lord, on the
- 1:08day of your coming. Father, we yearn and we look
- 1:12towards, we press towards, we speed the day.
- 1:16God of the Bema seat. Lord, we are so incredibly
- 1:23expectant of what you're going to do this morning.
- 1:27God, I pray somebody gets saved. I pray somebody gets wrecked.
- 1:31I pray God that you mess up our theology.
- 1:34God, I pray that you'll mess up our doctrine, Father, and I pray
- 1:38that you'll help us to see you through the biblical narrative,
- 1:42the biblical lens. God will let go of all of the
- 1:45heresy, will let go of all of the traditionalism.
- 1:49God will let go of all of our pre programmed ideas.
- 1:52God and the bylaws. Father, I pray that you'll mess
- 1:56up all of our preprogrammed ideas of who you are, God.
- 2:03Lord, I pray that you'll break down the disruptive
- 2:07denominational division, Father. And I pray that we'll actually
- 2:13understand your Word through and through, God, from beginning to
- 2:18end, Lord. Not man's opinion, Father.
- 2:22But what does the word say, Father?
- 2:25So we hold on to it. We live it, Father.
- 2:28We hide it, God. We meditate upon it, Father.
- 2:31It's your word, Father, that we're desperately after.
- 2:34God. We want more of you, Lord, we
- 2:37want you. And Lord, we see you high and
- 2:40lift it up. Lord, we see you on the throne.
- 2:42God peels of Thunder. Lord, we see the lightnings.
- 2:47God in the rainbow, the sea of glass mingled with fire.
- 2:51Father, we see the four living creatures.
- 2:53God, we see the 24 elders. Lord, we pray God, that the
- 2:59mixed holy multitude. God, all praise you.
- 3:05Lord, every knee will bow and every tongue confess, Lord, that
- 3:09you are preeminent. Lord, you are outside of time.
- 3:16God, you love long. Lord, you are so incredibly
- 3:21forgiving. And so, Lord, we step into our
- 3:24bridal identity today. We step into what you have for
- 3:28us today. God, I pray you'll teach us,
- 3:30Holy Spirit. Convict us.
- 3:32Prick our heart, God. Break our heart, God, for what
- 3:35breaks yours. We pray for the peace of
- 3:37Jerusalem. We pray God that you'll come and
- 3:41get your glory. Father, it's all about you.
- 3:43It's always been about you. Hide me, hide my words, Father,
- 3:48it's only you, Lord. So Lord, just continue to have
- 3:53your way. Have your will in our lives.
- 3:55God, we get out of our own understanding.
- 3:57We get out of our own way. God, we step in to what you have
- 4:02for us today. Continue to use us, Lord.
- 4:07Use your word. In our lives, the word became
- 4:11flesh, God. We munch on it, we devour it.
- 4:14God help us to digest it. Lord, I pray help us to actually
- 4:18go out and to evangelize. Lord, help us to be your hands
- 4:23and feet. Lord, I pray that we could take
- 4:25care of the widows and the orphans and their time of
- 4:28distress. Help us not to be play actors
- 4:31God, but help us to actually believe what it is that we read.
- 4:36Father, thank you Lord Jesus for all the things that you do and
- 4:40everything that you've done. We are yours.
- 4:43We're your sold out lay down lovers.
- 4:45We just want more of you. Father, I decrease as you
- 4:49increase. Holy Spirit, teach us and guide
- 4:53us. Give us discernment for this
- 4:56hour. Help us to know what to do and
- 4:58when to do it. Help us not to miss it.
- 5:01And it's in your holy and precious name, King Jesus
- 5:04Christ, that I pray. Amen.
- 5:08Let's start in verse one. And the Lord spoke unto Moses,
- 5:15saying to speak unto the children of Israel, say unto
- 5:19them, when either man or woman shall separate themselves, to
- 5:23vow a vow of a Nazarite to separate themselves unto the
- 5:27Lord. So here we're going to get to
- 5:29see this interesting little section here where the Nazarites
- 5:35come up. This is where you see Samson,
- 5:37this is John the Baptist. You see that they're not to
- 5:40touch any fermented drink. They're not to cut their hair.
- 5:44You can see that God has a special place for those who
- 5:47vowed the vow and who will live a life that is countercultural.
- 5:55Somebody whose stiff arms all the cultural norms and says I
- 5:59want to live in a way that is holy and pleasing unto God and
- 6:04God will honor that friends. And we are all called to
- 6:07separate ourselves and to be holy as he is holy and to not be
- 6:12deluged and watered down by the cultural norms of everything
- 6:16that everybody's saying. This is OK when it's actually
- 6:20anti biblical friends. You see it creeping up.
- 6:24We removed prayer out of schools and took the 10 commandments
- 6:27down out of the courtroom, friends.
- 6:29And you can see this sliding scale of degradation down into
- 6:34the pits of despair where you see so many people and they
- 6:37don't have the mental fortitude, they don't have the spiritual
- 6:40aptitude, they don't have the appetite friends to get through
- 6:44the hard things in life. And you see them going by the
- 6:46wayside left and right. Friends And what we need is we
- 6:50need the Spirit of God in this hour.
- 6:53We need revival in this hour. We need a hunger for God's Word,
- 6:57the pure Word. Friends, we need to separate
- 7:00ourselves from all of the false narratives that are out there in
- 7:04the mainstream. Friends, we need to be able to
- 7:07get in to the biblical narrative, the rhetoric of the
- 7:10Bible. What does God say, even if it's
- 7:13not popular? Friends, that is what we need in
- 7:16this hour. We need to take a vow to be
- 7:19countercultural in this hour. 3 He shall separate himself from
- 7:25wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine and
- 7:30vinegar of strong drink. Neither shall he drink any
- 7:33liquor of grapes nor eat moist grapes are dried, so they're to
- 7:37stay away from all of the products of the grape.
- 7:41They God did not want them to be drunk on wine, He wanted them to
- 7:49be drunk on the Spirit of God. For all the days of his
- 7:52separation shall eat nothing that is made of the vine tree,
- 7:56from the kernels even to the husk. 5 All the days of the vow
- 8:00of separation. There shall no razor come upon
- 8:03his head until the days be fulfilled in the which he
- 8:07separates himself unto the Lord. He shall be holy, and let the
- 8:11locks of his hair of his head grow.
- 8:14So we saw that whenever Delilah finally talked Sampson out of
- 8:20where his strength came from, the Philistines were able to
- 8:23come in and overpower him. But you see that at the end of
- 8:27his life, he took out more Philistines because he came
- 8:30back, his hair started growing back.
- 8:33And that is what is referenced here.
- 8:34And there's no superpower, there's no real power to letting
- 8:39your hair grow. It's all about your connection
- 8:41with God Almighty and the devotion that we have.
- 8:44That's where the power comes from.
- 8:46And Samson had got puffed up and became prideful and thought he
- 8:50could just go out and shake off the Philistines.
- 8:53He did not realize the Lord had departed.
- 8:56And that's what you need to understand is that as long as
- 8:58we'll make it about God and about God alone, then he will be
- 9:02well pleased to be in our lives and to actually fight our
- 9:06battles. But when we willfully step out
- 9:08in disobedience and make it about self, make it about this
- 9:12world, then you cannot expect for the covering of God to
- 9:16continue on with you. Doesn't mean that you've lost
- 9:19your salvation. It just means that God is
- 9:22distant because you pushed him out, because you made it about
- 9:26self, you made it about this world. 6 All the days of a
- 9:33separation unto the Lord, he shall come in no dead body.
- 9:37So the dead body was a great reminder of the fallen sinful
- 9:41state of mankind, and that is what is referenced here. 7 He
- 9:45shall not make himself unclean for his father, for his mother,
- 9:49his brother, for his sister, when they died, because the
- 9:52consecration of his God is upon his head.
- 9:55So you saw that even for the priest it was OK for the
- 9:57immediate family, but here for the Nazarite they are actually
- 10:01held to a higher degree of standard of holiness.
- 10:05Friends. 9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he has
- 10:11defiled the head of his consecration, then he shall
- 10:14shave his head in the day of his cleansing.
- 10:16On the 7th day he shall shave it, 10 And on the 8th day he
- 10:21shall bring 2 turtles, two young pigeons, to the priest, to the
- 10:25door of the Tabernacle of the congregation. 11 And the priest
- 10:29shall offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a
- 10:32burnt offering, and make atonement for him, that he
- 10:36sinned by the dead, and he shall hallow his head the same day.
- 10:41So here, if he was to accidentally stumble upon a dead
- 10:44body or someone was to die, and instead then he had to go to the
- 10:48priest and tell him, and then he had to make an atonement. 12 And
- 10:55he shall consecrate unto the Lord the days of his separation,
- 10:59and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass
- 11:02offering. For the days that were before
- 11:04shall be lost because his separation was defiled.
- 11:07So he has to hit the reset button, friends. 13 And this is
- 11:12the law of the NASA, right? When the days of his separation
- 11:15are fulfilled, he shall be brought unto the door of the
- 11:18Tabernacle of the congregation. 14 And he shall offer his
- 11:21offering unto to the Lord, 1 male lamb of the first year
- 11:25without blemish for a burnt offering, and one female lamb of
- 11:29the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and 1 ram
- 11:34without blemish for a peace offering. 15 And a basket of
- 11:38unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, wafers
- 11:42of unleavened bread anointed with oil, and their meat
- 11:45offering, and their drink offerings. 16 And the priests
- 11:49shall bring them before the Lord, and shall offer his sin
- 11:52offering and his burnt offering. 17 And he shall offer the ram
- 11:56for a sacrifice of peace, offerings unto the Lord, and the
- 12:01basket of unleavened bread. The peak priest shall offer also
- 12:04his meat offering and his drink offering. 18 And the Nazarite
- 12:09shall shave his head of separation at the door of the
- 12:12Tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the
- 12:16head of his separation, and put it in the fire, which is under
- 12:19the sacrifice of the peace offerings. 19 And the priest
- 12:23shall take the sodden shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened
- 12:27cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put
- 12:30them upon the hands of the Nazarite after the hair of a
- 12:34separation is shaved. 20 And the priest shall wave them for a
- 12:38wave offering before the Lord. This is holy for the priests,
- 12:44and the wave breasts, and the heave shoulder, and after that
- 12:47the Nazarite may drink wine. 21 This is the law of the Nazarite
- 12:53who has vowed and is offering unto the Lord for a separation,
- 12:57beside that, that his hand shall get according to the vow which
- 13:02he vowed. So he must do after the law of
- 13:04his separation. So this Nazarite was to go and
- 13:08to make a vow unto God, and to do the things that are
- 13:12prescribed here. And at the end of it all God
- 13:15would honor whatever it was that he had vowed and that he was to
- 13:20do. And so God here is showing us
- 13:23that He wants us to live lives that are apart from how the rest
- 13:29of the world operates. Friends, we are the called out
- 13:35ones. The ecclesia were not to be
- 13:38overran and watered down by all of the norms that we see
- 13:43presented to us. We are the stiff arm.
- 13:45All of the things that are counter biblical, the things
- 13:50that God says are good are the things that we hold on to.
- 13:53We don't try to operate within how the rest of the world
- 13:57operates because it'll lead us astray.
- 13:59It's like putting a ring in your nose and being LED off into
- 14:03slavery and bondage. Friends. 22 And the Lord spoke
- 14:07unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his son,
- 14:11saying, On this wise you shall bless the children of Israel,
- 14:16saying unto them, 24 The Lord bless you and keep you.
- 14:24The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to
- 14:29you. 26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give
- 14:36you peace. We'll end on 27 and they shall
- 14:40put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
- 14:45So here we see this benediction pronounced over the children of
- 14:49Israel. Friends, it is pronounced over
- 14:52to you. And he is faithful for
- 14:54generations upon generations upon generations.
- 14:57And we are called to be chain Breakers, Friends.
- 15:01We are not called to be those who make excuses for our sins.
- 15:06We're called to be those who stand in the gap.
- 15:08Stand in the light, friends. Let God burn out all the dross
- 15:12and the impurities. Be the high priest of your home.
- 15:17God desires to bless us, and you need to understand that He
- 15:24blessed us eternally, magnificently in Christ Jesus.
- 15:29If we'll get under the yoke and get under the blood of Christ
- 15:34and be baptized, you need to know that repentance is the
- 15:40pathway. Turn from all of your wicked
- 15:43ways. Admit that you're a Sinner in
- 15:45desperate need of a Savior. Receive forgiveness.
- 15:49Be at one with him. Receive your justification in
- 15:53the righteousness of Christ. Let it rest upon you and walk in
- 15:57that and receive this benediction.
- 16:00Receive this blessing upon you today.
- 16:03Friend, do not stay out there in the far place, in the far
- 16:08country. Don't stay out there squandering
- 16:11your inheritance. Come back to the Father's house.
- 16:15Actually see your need for repentance today.
- 16:19Confess all the times that you've got it wrong, the times
- 16:22that we've been steeped in the culture, the times that we have
- 16:27chosen this world over. God's revealed will here in the
- 16:3166 book Canon of Genesis to Revelation.
- 16:35I pray that you've been eternally immortally blessed by
- 16:39this chapter here in the Book of Numbers.
- 16:42I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 16:44of you. I love you.
- 16:45We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 16:47God bless you.
