- 0:06Speaker 2: Broadcasting live from Atlanta, GEORGIAIL. Welcome to the ball Alert Show.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I go by the name of Ferrari Simmis. I go
- 0:12Speaker 2: to that you know, bt hey Man, Waffie from Julia
- 0:14Speaker 2: or Liberty.
- 0:14Speaker 1: This in the building.
- 0:17Speaker 3: All right, this is.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Actually our real friend and our real jeweler. You introduced
- 0:21Speaker 2: me to Waffi. I met Wifie and I spent money
- 0:24Speaker 2: with him the same day.
- 0:25Speaker 4: I think of everybody that I introduced to wafing the
- 0:28Speaker 4: same day.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm not like wealthy though. I mean, hell man, I'm
- 0:33Speaker 2: up an exche line. But I ain't up there either.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Swaffe, how many times I asked him for discounts?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Every time I don't necessarily ask for a discount, but
- 0:42Speaker 2: I say, hey, man, you know, look this is I
- 0:44Speaker 2: bought my wife's engagement ring from Waffi.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You actually built it for me.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you. I did not know that he like
- 0:51Speaker 3: created it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: That was what like three four years now, twenty nineteen,
- 0:56Speaker 2: okay five.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I paid a lot of money.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I mean, you make a lot of money.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You made, but like that was the first.
- 1:02Speaker 2: That was the highest thing I ever got for somebody
- 1:05Speaker 2: outside of myself.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And I think I need to wear to say that.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Not for sure that is normal.
- 1:12Speaker 4: But yeah, but Waffi, Waffee does everybody's jewelry, like you.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Know, little baby.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Mostly I saw that falcons Shane, Yeah is crazy. I
- 1:23Speaker 2: believe you did like the other stuff like you did
- 1:27Speaker 2: one of his first big change too, like back in seventeen.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, like for PF chains back in the day.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Yeah, who was like the first I would say, like
- 1:38Speaker 4: the first artists that that really you know, uh shot
- 1:42Speaker 4: with you and you know just started, you know you
- 1:44Speaker 4: you kind of seen the influence. Like I just remember
- 1:47Speaker 4: when I first came to your shop, because first of all.
- 1:50Speaker 1: How did you find Wiffy? Where did you find wife?
- 1:53Speaker 4: Well, we have a mutual friend, so I believe Sham.
- 1:57Speaker 4: They had a dinner and I went to the dinner
- 2:00Speaker 4: and Waffi was there and he was like, hey man, oh,
- 2:03Speaker 4: if you want to get some jury, you need to
- 2:04Speaker 4: holler at Waffi.
- 2:05Speaker 3: And he's like he does everybody Julie da da da.
- 2:08Speaker 3: He's super cool.
- 2:09Speaker 4: So I went and had a conversation with him at
- 2:12Speaker 4: the dinner and I and I got his number. He said, YO,
- 2:14Speaker 4: pull up on me anytime. And then I went to
- 2:16Speaker 4: a store and everybody was like, yeah, we uh, what's
- 2:18Speaker 4: that change? Kwavo was wearing I want to I want
- 2:21Speaker 4: to change just like that, and I was like, yo,
- 2:24Speaker 4: and then you know, you go in the store.
- 2:26Speaker 3: You can see because that's when you was in the mall.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Northlake one of my favorite malls, hant Jay Rop.
- 2:35Speaker 2: But anyway, what I was, we we had a mall
- 2:37Speaker 2: conversation that went viral, still going viral on my Instagram
- 2:39Speaker 2: page at Ferrari Simm's Top three malls in Atlanta.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But you can't still think.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But I was just saying, back in the day, I
- 2:47Speaker 2: used to go to North Lake Mall all the time.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 2: First of all, your store and an American deli at
- 2:52Speaker 2: that mall was top tier.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I mean I think that was the last two stories
- 2:55Speaker 1: in that mall.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yo. That mall used to be so ghost.
- 2:59Speaker 4: The only thing you could do while you're waiting on
- 3:01Speaker 4: your jewelry is to go get some America dealing.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I used to see you used to see any and
- 3:06Speaker 2: every celebrity in Waffie's jewelry.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Store and they would be righting them all.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But this is now, Wafi went, can we take it back?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Though, when did you start like jewelry or when did
- 3:17Speaker 2: you say, like, how does it go?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Like, oh, yeah, I'm gonna be a jeweler.
- 3:21Speaker 2: How does Because you're our first intervieweek, correct me if
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm wrong that we're interviewing about the jewelry business.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Correct. I mean it was just ground up. It was
- 3:32Speaker 1: I had access to jewelry.
- 3:33Speaker 2: My dad had a Kiosk in the mall, so I
- 3:36Speaker 2: had access to his wholesalers. So I just started taking
- 3:39Speaker 2: that merchandise, putting it online, selling it on marketplaces like eBay, Amazon,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and it was like, I mean, started with like, what
- 3:48Speaker 2: twenty dollars items selling for thirty dollars. And this was
- 3:51Speaker 2: while I was in college, so that ten dollars would
- 3:53Speaker 2: be some money for me, you know, you know, it
- 3:56Speaker 2: was something and well if you do it enough, then
- 4:00Speaker 2: it becomes and then you see the value of it
- 4:03Speaker 2: then once you know, like my second year, I was like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: oh yeah, I can actually do something with.
- 4:08Speaker 3: This, you know.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And that it was just purely e commerce. That's why
- 4:12Speaker 2: we had the merchandise. When I started dealing with rappers,
- 4:15Speaker 2: they were I would have like paddocks and aps in
- 4:19Speaker 2: North Lake Mall.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Now these.
- 4:22Speaker 2: No one's buying that just walking around, you know, correct,
- 4:25Speaker 2: you have to come in to buy one of those.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And by me having those, it was so weird for them.
- 4:30Speaker 2: They would be like, what is this doing here?
- 4:33Speaker 1: Why does this guy have all this stuff?
- 4:35Speaker 2: And it was because I was selling him online and
- 4:38Speaker 2: I just used that store as like a retail outlet
- 4:43Speaker 2: if somebody wants to come look at the piece. Otherwise
- 4:46Speaker 2: they would all be in the safe. We would be
- 4:48Speaker 2: you know, taking calls and selling them online. So it
- 4:51Speaker 2: was like a weird mix that we ended up in
- 4:53Speaker 2: North Lake mal and actually having the merchandise that people
- 4:56Speaker 2: wanted to buy, like high end, you know, So that's
- 4:59Speaker 2: where that's.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Why they pulled up.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean you you definitely got the big board.
- 5:05Speaker 2: J My question, My next question is my bad, Betea.
- 5:09Speaker 2: How do you get build a clientele as a jeweler
- 5:15Speaker 2: from the ground up?
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah? So it's just all word of mouth, will you?
- 5:18Speaker 2: It's word of mouth and its relationship based, like I mean,
- 5:21Speaker 2: because I was gonna say more more so this is
- 5:23Speaker 2: what I meant. Did you like build relationships like you
- 5:26Speaker 2: said with the up and coming wrappers and when they
- 5:28Speaker 2: blew up, they stayed with you or did you like,
- 5:31Speaker 2: how how did WiFi, Jewelry and Limited do it. I
- 5:35Speaker 2: don't think it was ever strategic like it was. You know,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you treat everybody coming in as a potential client that
- 5:43Speaker 2: might spend.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You are very nice to people when they walk in.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 2: So I mean it's like if you just use a
- 5:49Speaker 2: standard and be consistent, you know, I think it works
- 5:53Speaker 2: out in the end, and that's it's wasn't ever like, oh,
- 5:56Speaker 2: this guy's blowing up, let me hit him up and
- 5:58Speaker 2: let me try to get him now before that, It
- 6:01Speaker 2: wasn't like that. I don't think it was ever strategic
- 6:03Speaker 2: like that. It was so like organic and chill. The
- 6:07Speaker 2: reason why I asked that is because it was a
- 6:10Speaker 2: it was a trend to me, all the new rappers
- 6:14Speaker 2: were coming to Waffi.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Because Yeah, and who came up with the word the
- 6:18Speaker 1: Waffi way was that Quavo. I think it was takeoff, takeoff,
- 6:23Speaker 1: long live, take off.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Wow.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I think it was just like he was just in
- 6:27Speaker 1: the store one.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Day and I pulled up my phone and I was like, hey,
- 6:32Speaker 2: let me do a quick video with whatever he bought
- 6:34Speaker 2: that day. And he went on this little rand and
- 6:37Speaker 2: I still have that video and it goes like he's
- 6:40Speaker 2: like that way, Atlanta way, Waffy way, and it was
- 6:43Speaker 2: just like that, and it was I don't even think
- 6:46Speaker 2: I posted it, but it was. It was cool, and
- 6:50Speaker 2: I hashtagged it and people called on Yeah, I don't
- 6:53Speaker 2: think it's still a thing, but yeah, yes, the hell
- 6:55Speaker 2: it is.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I mean we said it on the radio.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Every day I see other jewelers trying to do it
- 7:02Speaker 2: like this way, that way, that way, you know. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 2: but but yeah, it was definitely take off. And I
- 7:07Speaker 2: remember vividly like it was him in the store, just vibing,
- 7:12Speaker 2: you know, and it was like I saw my little jeweler.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I looked at the videos because I was looking when
- 7:19Speaker 2: he passed away. I was looking for some videos that,
- 7:22Speaker 2: you know. And now iPhones are smart, like picks up
- 7:25Speaker 2: everything about that one person. And I saw that video recently.
- 7:29Speaker 4: So now, who was somebody that came to your store
- 7:31Speaker 4: that she was like, I can't I can't believe you
- 7:34Speaker 4: know this person, this person actually knows about my company.
- 7:39Speaker 1: That's interesting question. Who would just pop out like I had?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think like.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I would.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I usually am in the back, right, I never really
- 7:53Speaker 2: come to the front, so I don't see these people
- 7:55Speaker 2: walking in, but I'll get text from my employees and
- 7:57Speaker 2: be like, hey, this person's here, and I I remember
- 8:00Speaker 2: like was taken aback when I think it was like
- 8:03Speaker 2: two Chains or like Walker Flock or I think it
- 8:05Speaker 2: was Walker Flock who came like unannounced, and you know,
- 8:09Speaker 2: I grew up listening to his music and it was
- 8:11Speaker 2: just usually the announced, right.
- 8:12Speaker 1: They'll hit me on.
- 8:13Speaker 2: DM be like I want to check you out, and
- 8:16Speaker 2: uh those dms get forwarded to me immediately. And but
- 8:20Speaker 2: like just showing up unannounced, it it's not that often,
- 8:24Speaker 2: but yeah, those two come to mind.
- 8:25Speaker 3: They're just randomly just show up.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And I got a text for like this guy's in
- 8:29Speaker 2: the store, and I'm like, wait, are you sure? And
- 8:32Speaker 2: then now I have cameras, so I'm like, yeah, okay.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Okay, yeah look this, this this is how you know
- 8:37Speaker 3: he's ball. He said.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Now I got cameras, I can just see who you
- 8:41Speaker 4: know who's in the store today.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You should be I mean yeah, no, I mean like
- 8:45Speaker 2: even like a little baby will come unannounced and uh
- 8:49Speaker 2: be like oh he'll just come with like somebody who
- 8:52Speaker 2: I knew was coming, like forty two Dugs coming and like,
- 8:55Speaker 2: oh he's with baby and Rylo and everybody.
- 8:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 8:58Speaker 1: So it's like a whole crew that pulls up one day,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, Now, was there a moment where you was like, Okay,
- 9:06Speaker 2: I'm outgrowing the Northlake Mall.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I need my own space.
- 9:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:10Speaker 2: The North Lake Mall was like a lucky charm to me.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I never really thought to leave. I was I was
- 9:16Speaker 2: going to open a second store, but it was North.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Lake Mall that wanted me out.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And really, yeah, which is weird, right because you would
- 9:23Speaker 2: think that I'm bringing in like good clients.
- 9:25Speaker 1: The majority of the business of them all.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Yeah, keeping American Deli alive, there's won't rule.
- 9:33Speaker 2: You go to Wifie and you hit the American Deli.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You go to American Deli, put the order in th
- 9:37Speaker 2: handle your little Wifie, you pick it up right park,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you park by the food court. Okay, Now they were
- 9:48Speaker 2: I guess they didn't like the type of clientele we
- 9:51Speaker 2: were bringing.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You know, we have like arm guards.
- 9:53Speaker 2: We had like people coming in with guns, and it's
- 9:56Speaker 2: normal when you were dealing with high value pieces to
- 10:00Speaker 2: walk out with security or something like that.
- 10:02Speaker 1: You know, So I thought.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I mean, they sole a portion of that mall to
- 10:07Speaker 2: Emory and.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's just like their offices. So they thought they didn't geil.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Well so okay, wait, Memory the the healthcare healthcare.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like their offices.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Inside the mall. Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Well it's converting. It's like a school too. There's a
- 10:25Speaker 1: school there too. Yeah yeah, school.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So like there's saw like a J. C. Penny wing
- 10:31Speaker 2: to one, the whole thing to one. God, then they
- 10:34Speaker 2: converted inside.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: When we went to.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Shoot some content one of them, I took a little
- 10:38Speaker 2: trip down memory lane.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I was like, damn, it's not even here no more.
- 10:42Speaker 3: They like, we don't want basically, we don't want rappers.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Okay, so all right, man, so you moved to the
- 10:49Speaker 2: new space. And I don't know if this was to
- 10:53Speaker 2: commemorate what's what's the word commemorate the space?
- 10:57Speaker 1: A lot of shoots, A video with Cardi B in
- 10:59Speaker 1: your store, right, that's fire.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of a lot of just a lot
- 11:08Speaker 2: of has been around with us since day one. You know,
- 11:11Speaker 2: I think I made her first chain. It was a
- 11:14Speaker 2: little chain that said Mullah this one. She used to
- 11:16Speaker 2: go by Mulatto R And uh.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, So she.
- 11:22Speaker 2: One of her managers, herself hit me up and we're like, hey,
- 11:25Speaker 2: I want to shoot a video. And at that point
- 11:26Speaker 2: she couldn't say who was it supposed to be in
- 11:29Speaker 2: the video. It was like a hush hush thing, and
- 11:32Speaker 2: she's like, can I use your space? And I would
- 11:34Speaker 2: have said yes anyway, but then later I realized it
- 11:38Speaker 2: was Cardi B with her, And yeah, it was like
- 11:41Speaker 2: a whole day shoot. We had to close the store,
- 11:44Speaker 2: but it's okay, you know, one day for sure.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And then yeah, they just shot it.
- 11:51Speaker 2: They had like a whole setup outside with their their
- 11:55Speaker 2: their one of those caravans production and it's a small store,
- 12:01Speaker 2: like I mean, the the show showroom is only one
- 12:05Speaker 2: thousand square foot, so there was a whole production team.
- 12:08Speaker 2: There's a director and there's like a lot of people.
- 12:10Speaker 2: There's a tight space. And yeah, we made it work though.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It was cool.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Video came out fire too.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I know, yeah it did it did it put a
- 12:19Speaker 2: good spin on things. But now it's like, no, it
- 12:24Speaker 2: it looked good in.
- 12:25Speaker 1: The video for sure. Yeah I can see like they.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Had the ad placements in there and we had ours,
- 12:30Speaker 2: so it worked out well.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so I gotta ask you a question
- 12:34Speaker 1: why I need your help? Okay, Alisa.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Up, Okay, What are the difference in diamonds and should
- 12:45Speaker 2: people be concerned with how clear the diamonds are? Like
- 12:48Speaker 2: you got vvs vs, and then what's after that s
- 12:54Speaker 2: I one, S I two, I one I two, and
- 12:57Speaker 2: then you also have lab diamonds. There's lab diamonds, now, yeah, okay,
- 13:01Speaker 2: what are the difference between these? So the I mean
- 13:04Speaker 2: first the clarity correct Yeah, yeah, So there's four seas.
- 13:07Speaker 2: There's clarity, color, cut, and carrot carrott is. The size
- 13:11Speaker 2: cut is actually very important which most people don't even
- 13:14Speaker 2: look at, which is how well the diamond is cut,
- 13:17Speaker 2: just how many facets is it an ideal cut, Like
- 13:21Speaker 2: there'll be a diamond dispersion of light is if it's
- 13:24Speaker 2: an ideal cut, we'll have more light dispersion than if
- 13:27Speaker 2: it was a good cut or very good cut. Then
- 13:30Speaker 2: there's color, which is graded from DEFG all the way
- 13:34Speaker 2: down to Z. And then there's clarity. Clarity becomes the
- 13:37Speaker 2: most popular thing. But clarity's VBS stands for very very
- 13:41Speaker 2: small inclusions. What that is is just imperfections the diamond naturally,
- 13:46Speaker 2: and so the less imperfections. The higher it is on
- 13:50Speaker 2: the scale, VS goes to vs very small inclusions, then
- 13:54Speaker 2: small inclusions then include it, and inclusions are just imperfection.
- 13:59Speaker 2: So that's the grading. Now there's LAB diamonds is like
- 14:04Speaker 2: it's like, you know, the rough comes from the earth.
- 14:08Speaker 2: The rough in LAB diamonds is made in the lab.
- 14:11Speaker 2: The cutting process, everything else remains the same. The grading
- 14:14Speaker 2: process remains the same. Chemically they are the same, and
- 14:19Speaker 2: but they were originated from the LAB.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But it's but it is a real diamond.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It is a diamond Chemically it's a diamond. But there's
- 14:27Speaker 2: ways to tell the difference. We have machines in their
- 14:29Speaker 2: store that will pick up LAB grown diamonds, you know. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 2: so I mean they don't. I always say that once
- 14:38Speaker 2: they make a handheld this machine is big, like it's
- 14:41Speaker 2: ten thousand dollars machine that most you know, the kids
- 14:44Speaker 2: on the street, Okay, But eventually there will be one, yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 2: one handheld machine that you could just pull up on
- 14:54Speaker 2: somebody and say this LAB a natural yeah, natural yeah,
- 14:59Speaker 2: earth mind. Earth mind is the opposite of LAB.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But should it should that matter? Should it matters?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Like it's up to you.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I mean, then you know you always had alternatives. If
- 15:09Speaker 2: the guy who was wearing Mois and Nights, uh probably
- 15:13Speaker 2: doesn't matters and nights and Nights a whole Moist Night's trash.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's like, it's it's the things be shot at what
- 15:22Speaker 1: I see am on Instagram?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Boy, and so so does what what is c zs okay?
- 15:31Speaker 2: And that's that's fake. That's fake fake, and so is
- 15:35Speaker 2: Mois and so Mois and Night.
- 15:36Speaker 1: But what is that? Is that a stone or stone?
- 15:39Speaker 1: It's it's its own stone that.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It looks so shiny like glitter.
- 15:44Speaker 1: But that thing is too shiny.
- 15:45Speaker 2: It's shinier than I would say I've seen because I like,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I like to look at diamonds. So I've seen a
- 15:52Speaker 2: lab grow diamond and like a v V S and
- 15:54Speaker 2: a VS. The lab grown looks nicer in quality than
- 15:59Speaker 2: the VVS and the VS. Is that because it's lab grown.
- 16:03Speaker 1: No, the VBS VS.
- 16:05Speaker 2: The lab grown is graded on the same scale as
- 16:07Speaker 2: diamonds are great. So you can have a VS lab
- 16:10Speaker 2: grown and you can have a VVS natural. The VBS
- 16:13Speaker 2: natural will shine more.
- 16:15Speaker 1: And what's a bad get back?
- 16:16Speaker 2: Get is a different cut of the diamond and it's
- 16:18Speaker 2: still a diamond. You can cut diamonds in different shapes.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You can cut them in the get cut, emerald cut,
- 16:24Speaker 2: rating cut, cushion cut.
- 16:25Speaker 1: You've heard of that, yeah, you know, and doing around.
- 16:31Speaker 2: The round is the most popular. The round is the
- 16:34Speaker 2: most expensive still, and so lab grown will lab growns
- 16:40Speaker 2: you don't find included lab groans, okay, because the cutting
- 16:45Speaker 2: and the making and the polishing of the diamond is
- 16:48Speaker 2: all done by hand only the lab grown. The rough
- 16:52Speaker 2: is made in the lab So if you get a
- 16:54Speaker 2: bad rough, they're not going to go through the whole
- 16:57Speaker 2: process of cutting it and making it perfect. That's all
- 17:00Speaker 2: done by hand.
- 17:01Speaker 1: That's expensive to do.
- 17:02Speaker 2: They're just gonna throw that ship out and make a
- 17:04Speaker 2: new one, you know, like because you can just make
- 17:06Speaker 2: a new rough. And you've got colors because you got
- 17:09Speaker 2: me these yellow canarios, right, it took you a minute
- 17:11Speaker 2: to get these two.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like we don't you know what I mean,
- 17:14Speaker 1: You had to find them for me.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like.
- 17:16Speaker 2: It's I don't have the sources that well in the
- 17:20Speaker 2: colored stones as I do with natch white stones. So
- 17:25Speaker 2: but it was what a couple more phone calls than usual.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Now, let me ask you this does Does the lab
- 17:32Speaker 3: grown the lab diamonds?
- 17:35Speaker 4: Do you think that's eventually going to affect like the
- 17:38Speaker 4: jury business it already?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it is very much. I feel like
- 17:43Speaker 1: the richest people are the ones who are like, man,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I don't want to spend that much on this squear lab.
- 17:49Speaker 1: No one's ever.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Gonna second guess me, you know, because everyone knows who
- 17:53Speaker 2: I am or how much money I got. So I
- 17:55Speaker 2: feel like those I mean, I see the I see
- 17:58Speaker 2: the reasoning, you know, right, Yeah, there's no way to
- 18:02Speaker 2: tell the difference visually. I've seen a lot of artists
- 18:06Speaker 2: also say that they have a fake set of jewelry
- 18:09Speaker 2: that they'll wear out of town. So like, if they're
- 18:12Speaker 2: out of town and they're traveling, they're not going to
- 18:13Speaker 2: take their real jury, they'll have a fake version of it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Do people come to you for not so much artists?
- 18:23Speaker 2: Artists take pride in like, yeah, I'll wear my shit
- 18:25Speaker 2: whenever I go, you know, like I don't. I don't
- 18:28Speaker 2: need to make a fake version of it.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But I feel like like a.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Lady with a big engagement ring, I've had to make,
- 18:36Speaker 2: you don't replicas, So when you know, because they're susceptible
- 18:39Speaker 2: regardless of where they go. Usually they're with their you know,
- 18:42Speaker 2: but they don't have security and stuff like that, so
- 18:44Speaker 2: they don't want.
- 18:45Speaker 1: To risk taking.
- 18:47Speaker 2: In fact, certain sizes of diamonds, their insurance company makes
- 18:51Speaker 2: you make a to get it in shore. They'll be like, hey,
- 18:55Speaker 2: you need to get a replica so you know, when
- 18:57Speaker 2: you travel, we need you to have that.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So it's once you get in a certain price point.
- 19:03Speaker 2: So yeah, we do that, and it's generally gonna be
- 19:06Speaker 2: like either CZ live growns are not like cheap cheap,
- 19:10Speaker 2: so it's not gonna be a live grown, but it's
- 19:13Speaker 2: probably a CZ.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Got it.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I'm learning, I'm learning these.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I want to get into rolexes with you, man, because
- 19:20Speaker 2: I got my we got we got our first rolex
- 19:22Speaker 2: for you.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm not wearing my BT wearing.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, the rolex game is completely different than the diamond game.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Is it or is it not? Yeah? The rolex or
- 19:34Speaker 1: the watch game. Yeah, I mean, watches.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Are so like available everywhere, right, Like especially world is
- 19:43Speaker 2: a small place now, So you type in a model
- 19:45Speaker 2: number of watch, you're gonna hit one hundred different sellers
- 19:48Speaker 2: in your city that sell the watches. So it's a
- 19:51Speaker 2: very competitive business, very competitive low margins, but you kind of.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Have to low margins, meaning you don't make a big profit.
- 20:00Speaker 2: No, no, like on a thirty thousand dollars watch, we'll
- 20:03Speaker 2: make twenty five hundred if that, you know, which is
- 20:06Speaker 2: not a great investment to prossy.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, watch the right right right?
- 20:11Speaker 2: So I mean if it sits on the shelf for
- 20:13Speaker 2: six months, then it's actually not a goodbye. He'e what
- 20:16Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like I could have used that thirty thousand
- 20:18Speaker 2: feel true? Is it true that if when if you
- 20:20Speaker 2: bust a watchdown, that loses value to the watch. That's
- 20:25Speaker 2: a that's a good question. I think it's all depending
- 20:27Speaker 2: on how many people are want a bust down. Like
- 20:32Speaker 2: if you asked me that five years ago, I would
- 20:34Speaker 2: say straight up no, you know, because five years ago
- 20:36Speaker 2: people want it buzz down. So the demand is there,
- 20:38Speaker 2: you're adding diamonds to it. As long as the demand
- 20:41Speaker 2: is there, the value remains the supply demand. Yeah, so
- 20:44Speaker 2: there was. Now people are moving away from buzz downs.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I see a lot more Plane Jane watch weearers now
- 20:51Speaker 2: in the hip hop community, and a lot of very
- 20:53Speaker 2: expensive watches too. You know, like, and they saw the
- 20:56Speaker 2: price of during COVID, the price watches were going crazy,
- 21:01Speaker 2: and they saw it going up, and then you know,
- 21:04Speaker 2: they saw their watch like wait this the word double now,
- 21:07Speaker 2: you know, let me just get buy more of these.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And I think that might have affected the trend, just
- 21:13Speaker 2: like seeing it happen in front of you. But what
- 21:16Speaker 2: happened was never going to happen again, that's my like.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You mean during COVID with the spike and all.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That, the price, I don't I feel like it was
- 21:25Speaker 2: a one off thing and it didn't make any sense
- 21:29Speaker 2: for a watch that is forty thousand retail to be
- 21:32Speaker 2: selling for eighty thousand in the gray market. Gray market
- 21:35Speaker 2: is outside of you know, anything reselling wise, it's called
- 21:39Speaker 2: the gray market, and for it to be selling for
- 21:41Speaker 2: double it it wasn't a sensible thing. But it did
- 21:44Speaker 2: and people were buying it, you know, so it was
- 21:47Speaker 2: I think that was a one off thing.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Now, how influential are these rappers when it comes to
- 21:53Speaker 4: what type of jury people buy in the market?
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yea jury, I think very like I think the market
- 22:05Speaker 2: trends are set by celebrities in general, not like ballplayers.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I would say.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Rappers streamers today, you know, like just celebrities in general.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 22:21Speaker 2: You want to you know, like if Cardi b wears
- 22:24Speaker 2: a Tiffany bracelet, I bet their cells go up. You
- 22:28Speaker 2: know Van Cleef races, you know how there was a
- 22:30Speaker 2: trend of people very popular.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I don't know who started that trend, but like you know,
- 22:36Speaker 2: but it had to be one of these celebrities picking
- 22:39Speaker 2: it up and introducing it to.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Market.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, a different market that they weren't used to seeing.
- 22:46Speaker 2: You know, like Van Cleef has their regular clientele for
- 22:49Speaker 2: one hundred years, but it didn't make it so mainstream
- 22:52Speaker 2: until the last few years.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah, because now you see every It's like once you
- 22:56Speaker 4: see a big celebrity wear or something, then I said, okay,
- 23:00Speaker 4: this is about to go up.
- 23:01Speaker 3: This is about to go up. Everybody's going to start
- 23:03Speaker 3: wearing this now.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there is a trend. Petech Philippe.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I remember I bought myself one in like twenty fifteen.
- 23:12Speaker 2: It's a fifty seven eleven Nautilus, which is their basic
- 23:16Speaker 2: model on the version that you guys see a lot.
- 23:20Speaker 2: It's that cushion shape and I paid thirty K.
- 23:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Now the watch is worth a hundred K.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But there was a this was like before I sold it.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I didn't make that hundred I sold it too early.
- 23:32Speaker 2: But but what I was saying is like before even COVID,
- 23:37Speaker 2: because people were icing out Paddox and like there was
- 23:42Speaker 2: mentions and songs and stuff like that, there was a
- 23:45Speaker 2: direct correlation to its price increase, like that twenty eight
- 23:48Speaker 2: was a forty you know, And I noticed that too,
- 23:51Speaker 2: right the paddic Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they do. They
- 23:55Speaker 2: will never say they do, but they do.
- 23:57Speaker 4: They definitely noticed that if a big rapper go out
- 23:59Speaker 4: and shout them out and said this is what I'm rocking, Yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 4: and they they sales are going to go up.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Man.
- 24:05Speaker 2: But the brands are so pretentious and like they like
- 24:08Speaker 2: want to keep their origins the same. And I don't
- 24:11Speaker 2: know if how they they noticed it. I wonder even
- 24:15Speaker 2: I don't know how.
- 24:15Speaker 1: They react to it.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Is that the good thing?
- 24:17Speaker 1: That thing?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Like I don't know how they're actually in the back
- 24:20Speaker 2: being like, hey, we want this publicity or we don't
- 24:23Speaker 2: want this publicity. But I think AP for example, like
- 24:27Speaker 2: they collab with rappers, like they just collabed last year,
- 24:33Speaker 2: big for them, you know, before that they collabed with
- 24:37Speaker 2: ball players like Lebron and I think I see the
- 24:41Speaker 2: chay Z had an ap collab, so they're with it, Paddock.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I haven't really heard any.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Kind of collapse you know what about Rolex. No, no collapse.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I only see Rolex collab with like big athletes, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 2: because I go on the website and I see like
- 24:59Speaker 2: the big tennis player, I forget his name, Uh one
- 25:03Speaker 2: of the Yeah, yeah he had I don't know if
- 25:05Speaker 2: it was his watch, but he was where it was wearing.
- 25:08Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying on their website wimbled when
- 25:12Speaker 2: you watch and.
- 25:12Speaker 1: You'll see Rolex clock.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I do know exactly.
- 25:15Speaker 1: So he was the champion.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Whoever the champion is, they'll get their photo shoot. Ye
- 25:21Speaker 2: where the I think it's that I forget the name
- 25:23Speaker 2: of the.
- 25:24Speaker 1: But I've never seen them do or anything with like
- 25:26Speaker 1: entertainers like I've never seen it.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I've seen entertainers customized, but I've never seen Rolex do
- 25:34Speaker 2: a partnership or a collapse.
- 25:36Speaker 1: That's interesting only athletes.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Now, some rappers gonna have a deal pretty soon with Roles.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Don't know, they're gonna say that I was the first rapper,
- 25:43Speaker 4: I don't.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Role, don't care. Rolex is like Ferrari, You're you're gonna
- 25:48Speaker 1: come to me whether you want to or not.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's King King still Yeah, okay, all right, so uh
- 25:55Speaker 2: two more things waffy.
- 25:57Speaker 1: First thing is like, is there ever like a there's
- 25:59Speaker 1: never like jewelry beef between jewelers, right or I'm just
- 26:04Speaker 1: ask you what.
- 26:06Speaker 3: You can say, no comment.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's like it's a competition.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Okay, but there's I mean, do you guys often know
- 26:16Speaker 2: each other privately, sometimes like friends or friends.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I've been friends with every jeweler I've met.
- 26:24Speaker 3: You know.
- 26:24Speaker 1: In fact, I have jewelers who will call me now
- 26:27Speaker 1: and be like, hey, is this fake? Is it real?
- 26:28Speaker 1: Is this you know, like asking me for advice?
- 26:31Speaker 2: And I'm very upfront with it because I had somebody
- 26:35Speaker 2: that I got advice from when I was coming up,
- 26:37Speaker 2: you know, so it's just yeah, sure, don't buy that
- 26:41Speaker 2: for this price.
- 26:41Speaker 1: This is the price it sells for. Don't pay more
- 26:43Speaker 1: than that.
- 26:44Speaker 3: You know.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Even today, I get people I whole sale too, so
- 26:48Speaker 2: to other jewelry stores. So if they need something, they'll
- 26:51Speaker 2: call me for sale. It's you know, a sale is
- 26:54Speaker 2: a sale. I understand it, you know. So I'll sell
- 26:56Speaker 2: it to them at a wholesale price and they'll sell
- 26:58Speaker 2: it to their retail. So you can't beef and like
- 27:02Speaker 2: really be closed minded in this business and expect to
- 27:05Speaker 2: grow because you're just gonna you know, you have to
- 27:09Speaker 2: work together.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Is there is there ever any jewelers in a business
- 27:14Speaker 4: you have to say nobody name that you know that
- 27:15Speaker 4: you like, Hey, man, don't don't buy from them them
- 27:18Speaker 4: over there because they selling?
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 27:23Speaker 1: No man? Or do you not say anything? I tend
- 27:26Speaker 1: not to. You know, there's two ways of selling jewelry.
- 27:28Speaker 1: You can.
- 27:28Speaker 2: You can hate on the competition and sell it that
- 27:32Speaker 2: way and be like, my stuff's better, and or be like, hey,
- 27:36Speaker 2: I like what you purchased, but look at what I
- 27:38Speaker 2: got to you know. I choose the latter always. It's like,
- 27:41Speaker 2: just look at my price point, look at what I
- 27:43Speaker 2: can do if you feel like it's better.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Than chop with me. If you're not, you know, and
- 27:48Speaker 1: you let your your your jewelry or your work like
- 27:51Speaker 1: kind of talk. And I prefer it that way.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Now, how did your dad come up with with with
- 27:57Speaker 3: these games?
- 27:58Speaker 2: My dad, man, that's his bienness thing like at dinner
- 28:03Speaker 2: table as growing up, he would have two questions for
- 28:07Speaker 2: me and my sister each like, you know, some random
- 28:10Speaker 2: thing he thought of or learned that day, and he
- 28:12Speaker 2: would ask us a question, or it could be just
- 28:14Speaker 2: the repeated questions. You know, what is a plus beat
- 28:17Speaker 2: the whole cube? I know that back of my head
- 28:20Speaker 2: a square plus, you know, like because I've regurgitated that
- 28:25Speaker 2: so many times. And but yeah, that's been his thing.
- 28:29Speaker 2: So now it's like, I think it was the first
- 28:31Speaker 2: question he asked. I think it was P and B
- 28:34Speaker 2: Rock again rest in Peace, and it was, and my
- 28:39Speaker 2: guy filmed it and he posted and it went viral.
- 28:42Speaker 1: It's still viral.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Actually, you've seen that one, the P and B one. Yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 2: and that's the same thing. Yeah, that's the same same thing.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Like now he's kind of running out now.
- 28:54Speaker 1: But man, you got two guys the feeling for you.
- 28:56Speaker 1: We got you. We're gonna implement that.
- 28:59Speaker 3: I'm gonna go g B T chat T. I didn't
- 29:04Speaker 3: even used it yet.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I haven't tried it.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Every everybody's using I haven't even tried it yet.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I haven't tried asking them for riddles. I bet they
- 29:11Speaker 1: would be you'll probably get a limit. You'll get an
- 29:13Speaker 1: unlimited amount of riddles. Too easy. All right, man, We
- 29:17Speaker 1: appreciate you.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Man.
- 29:18Speaker 1: We got to definitely do a part two.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Sir.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I just you're our first jeweler we ever interviewed. I
- 29:24Speaker 2: felt like, this is cool. We appreciate you. We do
- 29:27Speaker 2: have something called mental health check in. Hey, guys, Waffy
- 29:30Speaker 2: from Jewelry and Limited just wanted to say, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 2: stay stay true to what you guys want to do
- 29:35Speaker 2: and uh and work hard.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Man.
- 29:38Speaker 1: There's no replacement for hard work. It's coming. Just just
- 29:41Speaker 1: stay true. Yeah, and then when the when the bag
- 29:43Speaker 1: get there, shot with the Waffy way
