- 0:00Speaker 1: Leslie and Lindsay from Unsellable Houses Love and always enjoy
- 0:04Speaker 1: your personalities. But you are coming to the Triangle, so
- 0:08Speaker 1: tell us let's go on. What are you doing at
- 0:10Speaker 1: the Fairgrounds?
- 0:10Speaker 2: So this is Leslie. We are super excited. We are
- 0:13Speaker 2: coming into town tomorrow on Thursday, but on Friday and Saturday.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We are actually speaking on Friday at three pm and
- 0:25Speaker 2: on Saturday at one So that's the eleventh and twelfth
- 0:29Speaker 2: of April, and we're going to be on the Fresh
- 0:32Speaker 2: Idea stage at the Home and Garden Show and we're
- 0:36Speaker 2: going to be sharing a little bit about just our
- 0:41Speaker 2: experience on the show, our business being twins, just really anything.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I mean, we're just there to have fun and meet people.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Well, and it's such a good show. A lot of
- 0:50Speaker 1: people come out. They'll have so many questions for you, like,
- 0:52Speaker 1: for instance, twins, do you get mixed up ever? Or
- 0:55Speaker 1: do people I know you have differences, like your hairs different, so,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but do you ever people ask and get you mixed
- 0:59Speaker 1: up when they're trying to address you, whether it's at
- 1:02Speaker 1: work or in person.
- 1:03Speaker 3: This is Lindsay. I would say, you know, it's more
- 1:07Speaker 3: our voices. People get our voices still confused. Our mom
- 1:12Speaker 3: still does sometimes on the phone, but in person we
- 1:17Speaker 3: do definitely look like people generally say we look a
- 1:21Speaker 3: lot more alike in person than on the show, so
- 1:25Speaker 3: people are surprised when they meet us in person.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And how did this even happen in the first place?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Because you were just doing your business, doing your life,
- 1:32Speaker 1: like thriving great personalities, and then you meet executives from HGTV.
- 1:37Speaker 4: How did that all come about?
- 1:38Speaker 3: This is Lindsay again. It actually started we were hosting
- 1:42Speaker 3: silly YouTube videos on YouTube and a production company just
- 1:48Speaker 3: found us randomly and called us one day. That's really
- 1:53Speaker 3: the short of it, and then it all kind of
- 1:55Speaker 3: snowballed from there.
- 1:57Speaker 1: How long did it take from that call to actually
- 1:59Speaker 1: making the show happened?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Oh? Man, Lynz, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm
- 2:04Speaker 2: pretty sure it took like almost a year.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Okay, all exciting because you're like, wow, we're
- 2:11Speaker 1: just doing living our best life, you know, thriving in
- 2:14Speaker 1: our gifts, and then it turned into a show exactly.
- 2:18Speaker 3: We would just be in our silly, dorky selves and
- 2:22Speaker 3: somebody thought it was entertaining and we just felt like, well, great,
- 2:26Speaker 3: we get to be ourselves and you know, get a
- 2:30Speaker 3: TV show for it.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Now.
- 2:31Speaker 1: When it comes to trends, of course, people are always
- 2:34Speaker 1: trying to keep up with the trends. What do you
- 2:36Speaker 1: have to say about decorating your home with the latest
- 2:38Speaker 1: trend or doing something that resonates with you or your style?
- 2:42Speaker 4: Like what would you choose?
- 2:45Speaker 3: This is and yeah, go ahead, sorry less, no, this
- 2:49Speaker 3: is lindsay again, I would say, you know, as far
- 2:52Speaker 3: as the styles right now and the trends right now,
- 2:56Speaker 3: we're definitely moving towards personality and your personal style, your
- 3:02Speaker 3: personal trends no longer trying to accomplish the you know,
- 3:08Speaker 3: all white source simple. Look, it's definitely about what makes
- 3:14Speaker 3: you happy.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Now when you.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Say that though, because so, for instance, my husband is
- 3:18Speaker 1: very neutral everything, then there's me and I could have
- 3:21Speaker 1: a graffiti all in my house if he would, you know,
- 3:23Speaker 1: be fine with that. So how do you morph together
- 3:25Speaker 1: two different personalities to create this perfect space for somebody?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Oh, that's probably the hardest process of it all, figuring
- 3:33Speaker 2: out which one to go with. I would say, you know,
- 3:37Speaker 2: it's about compromise, making sure everybody gets a little bit
- 3:40Speaker 2: of their own style and personality in there. You know.
- 3:44Speaker 2: The big thing is, though, when you go to sell,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it's not so much about personality anymore so much about
- 3:50Speaker 2: what you like. It's about what's going.
- 3:53Speaker 3: To appeal to the masses.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So as much as we love the personality, as much
- 3:57Speaker 2: as we love all of that also needs to be about,
- 4:02Speaker 2: you know, what is going to sell, and when it
- 4:05Speaker 2: comes time to sell, we have to appeal to as
- 4:08Speaker 2: many people as possible.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So what is the most sellable? Is it those neutral
- 4:12Speaker 1: colors or certain you know styles in the home that
- 4:16Speaker 1: really people seem seem to gravitate towards or help it
- 4:18Speaker 1: sell quicker.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It's always going to be a more neutral, clean look
- 4:24Speaker 2: so that people can see their own style in there.
- 4:28Speaker 4: So I'm not getting my graffiti wall.
- 4:30Speaker 3: You're not getting your.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Griffy wall if you want to sell, But if you
- 4:35Speaker 2: want to live there for a long time, you graffiti
- 4:37Speaker 2: all you want.
- 4:38Speaker 1: What is y'all's personal favorite like for each of you,
- 4:41Speaker 1: is there a style that you personally love.
- 4:43Speaker 3: That's a really good question. This is lindsay. I definitely
- 4:46Speaker 3: tend to be more eclectic, more earthy. So my house
- 4:51Speaker 3: is filled with, you know, lots of things I like.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I do have a lot of you know, personal treasures,
- 4:58Speaker 3: knick knacks, and a lot of plants. Okay, so I'm very,
- 5:04Speaker 3: very eclectic.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I have equally as many plans, but I'm definitely more simple.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I have about oh maybe six unneeded items in my house,
- 5:18Speaker 2: and other than that, everything has a purpose.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Okay, I like that. See my husband would be very
- 5:23Speaker 1: on board with that. Yes, is there something that homeowners
- 5:26Speaker 1: should never do as a DIY.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Diy things that are outside of your skill set. But
- 5:35Speaker 2: you're not a plumber, you're not an electrician, if you're
- 5:39Speaker 2: a school teacher, then first off, God bless you because
- 5:44Speaker 2: you're a better human than us. And second of off,
- 5:47Speaker 2: don't try to rewire your home.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Let the experts do it.
- 5:52Speaker 2: But the things that are, you know, more creative.
- 5:58Speaker 5: And things that are not going to devalue your home
- 6:02Speaker 5: and can easily be fixed or improved upon, like paint
- 6:08Speaker 5: and wallpaper and hardware, Go for have fun landscaping, but
- 6:15Speaker 5: don't do the things that you could really mess up.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Right, So all the spouses out there that think they
- 6:21Speaker 1: could do it themselves, just go ahead and pay one
- 6:23Speaker 1: hundred and fifty dollars fee to get somebody to come out.
- 6:25Speaker 3: And do it is.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Is there a no no?
- 6:28Speaker 1: And this is more for not so much selling, but
- 6:30Speaker 1: for those that are you know, recently purchased and they're
- 6:33Speaker 1: living in their homes and they're looking for furniture when
- 6:35Speaker 1: it comes to matchy matchy sets, are you like, that's
- 6:37Speaker 1: not cool and go with the individual pieces?
- 6:40Speaker 3: This is lindsay. I think it's it's fun to have,
- 6:44Speaker 3: you know, a mismatch set when it comes to your
- 6:46Speaker 3: living room. So if you've got you know, a leather couch,
- 6:51Speaker 3: then pull in some different fabric for your side chairs.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You know, you don't need your coffee table and in
- 6:58Speaker 3: tables to match anymore. You know, you can play around
- 7:02Speaker 3: with those pieces and more textures, just create more of
- 7:07Speaker 3: a you know, more depth, more interest, more you know,
- 7:12Speaker 3: just fun in that space.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 7:15Speaker 3: It also allows you to to to be able to
- 7:21Speaker 3: live and move in that space for a longer amount
- 7:24Speaker 3: of time, meaning that if you want to change it out,
- 7:27Speaker 3: you've got more that you can work with. You're not
- 7:29Speaker 3: so boxed in when you try to keep everything so
- 7:34Speaker 3: matchy matchy. So down the road, you could maybe remove
- 7:38Speaker 3: one of those pieces and bring something else in and
- 7:40Speaker 3: it can feel totally different.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Okay, I love that. I love that advice. What project
- 7:45Speaker 1: are y'all now currently working on?
- 7:48Speaker 4: Oh gosh, how many projects?
- 7:50Speaker 5: Could?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:52Speaker 2: J then yeah, go ahead.
- 7:54Speaker 3: What about you personally in your house? You're like a
- 7:58Speaker 3: paint master, right oh man?
- 8:00Speaker 2: Right now I'm repainting everything because I have three teenage
- 8:03Speaker 2: boys and it has to be done.
- 8:05Speaker 3: About every three years.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, though it doesn't even stay good for three years.
- 8:10Speaker 2: But yeah, I am color blocking everything. I love dark,
- 8:14Speaker 2: moody colors and I just painted my entire bedroom, ceiling, walls,
- 8:20Speaker 2: trim everything like the darkest, moodiest green and I'm.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Obsessed with it.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And now I can't ever get myself out of bed.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Oh that's so great. I love it. The ceiling too,
- 8:31Speaker 4: that's amazing.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Oh I'm obsessed.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Okay, so painting and what else are you guys working on?
- 8:40Speaker 2: We have a lot of work projects. I spend five
- 8:42Speaker 2: hours yesterday at a beautiful farmhouse that we're going to
- 8:46Speaker 2: be popping up the ceiling on. So that's a huge project.
- 8:50Speaker 2: We're putting a couple additions on, by tons of kitchens
- 8:54Speaker 2: and baths and all kinds of things.
- 8:56Speaker 4: I love that.
- 8:57Speaker 1: All love So you're always busy, always creating of course,
- 9:00Speaker 1: full of personality. How can people stay connected with y'all?
- 9:03Speaker 1: And of course you're gonna be at the fair Grounds
- 9:04Speaker 1: this weekend for the Southern Home Show, so go see
- 9:07Speaker 1: them on stage Friday and Saturday, get those tickets. But
- 9:11Speaker 1: where can people stay connected with you on a regular
- 9:14Speaker 1: basis and keeping up with all your projects?
- 9:18Speaker 3: You know, Instagram great place. We've got several accounts, We've
- 9:22Speaker 3: got our design account. Everything is you know, Lamb and Company,
- 9:26Speaker 3: So you can go to Lamb and Company and then
- 9:28Speaker 3: from there you'll find Lindsay Leslie Design all of our
- 9:33Speaker 3: accounts and then also our website. It's Lamb and Company
- 9:38Speaker 3: all spelt out dot com. We do design nationwide now,
- 9:42Speaker 3: so we're doing virtual design across the country. But we're
- 9:45Speaker 3: providing three D renderings all of the great stuff to
- 9:50Speaker 3: help you get your projects started off the ground and
- 9:54Speaker 3: really from start to finish. Will help with whatever it
- 9:56Speaker 3: is a pink color to furnishing room to helping you
- 10:01Speaker 3: redesign the kitchen. So I love that. I want to
- 10:03Speaker 3: get involved with any type of design. We're here and
- 10:07Speaker 3: ready to work with you, all.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Right, And before you go, as sisters, you spent your
- 10:11Speaker 1: lives together, of course, rowed together a lot. What is
- 10:14Speaker 1: the most recent argument that you could share or do
- 10:17Speaker 1: you ever get sick of each other?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Oh? God, we had one this morning. Oh my gosh,
- 10:23Speaker 2: we did. I was like, when did we argue last?
- 10:26Speaker 2: I forgot about that.
- 10:27Speaker 5: It was this morning.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But what was it about? Hold on, I have to think,
- 10:31Speaker 2: what did we argue about this morning?
- 10:33Speaker 3: Oh about you thought I was being rude when you
- 10:38Speaker 3: were trying to explain.
- 10:39Speaker 2: To me what Oh yeah, you interrupted me.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yes, we were talking about one of our big, big
- 10:44Speaker 3: projects we have right now, and the difference between the
- 10:48Speaker 3: architectural drawings and the engineer drawings, and I thought she
- 10:53Speaker 3: was telling trying to explain to me what an engineer
- 10:56Speaker 3: drawing was. So I was saying, well, I know that is,
- 11:00Speaker 3: I know what that is.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And then I'm like.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Me, yeah, so.
- 11:05Speaker 2: No, he said, you know what, time out, We'll talk later.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Stuff normal sister stuff.
- 11:10Speaker 4: I love that though, because you can quickly regroup.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And big shout out to you, Lindsay for sharing your
- 11:14Speaker 1: journey with your autoimmune because I know that opened a
- 11:16Speaker 1: lot of eyes for many people that also have been
- 11:19Speaker 1: battling with health issues.
- 11:22Speaker 3: So thank you so much.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Well, thank you both
- 11:25Speaker 2: Thank you, looking for you, meeting everybody in two days,
