- 0:37Speaker 1: The better. But we had those cousins in town Hans
- 0:45Speaker 1: and Reva Hans. And that's how you can tell the
- 0:51Speaker 1: German Norwegian and uh they were They were in Salt
- 0:56Speaker 1: Lake for a bit for a for a conference, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: then they went up and were spending a couple of
- 1:00Speaker 1: days at my sister's house.
- 1:02Speaker 2: And what kind of a conference.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Uh, he's a geologist. There was a big geology conference.

- 1:26Speaker 1: restaurant in Ogden. You guys know, my favorite restaurant, the
- 1:30Speaker 1: Prairie Schooner. If you go to x ninety six dot
- 1:32Speaker 1: com slash live, you can see the covered wagon we
- 1:35Speaker 1: were eating in and we were very excited. Oh, you
- 1:39Speaker 1: got to come to the Prairie Schooner. It's great, you're
- 1:41Speaker 1: gonna love it. And uh uh my sister and I.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You can see we're we're sitting there at the end
- 1:47Speaker 1: of the table and we're very excited, and and the
- 1:50Speaker 1: waiter comes up to take it, you know, and they
- 1:51Speaker 1: hand us the menus. We don't need a menu?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, what's your usual?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Well here's the thing.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Okay, well, Hans and Reva don't have a they don't
- 1:59Speaker 2: have a.
- 2:01Speaker 1: They needed a menu. But my sister and I said,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we we would like our our usual, please, our chicken
- 2:10Speaker 1: fried steak. Of course, they have really good chicken fried
- 2:13Speaker 1: steak at at Prairie Schooner. And our waiter said, we're out.
- 2:18Speaker 1: What And Carrie, your reaction was our reaction?
- 2:24Speaker 2: That's when picks up the table and flips it. What
- 2:28Speaker 2: what what? What? What day of the week was this Saturday?
- 2:32Speaker 1: The day early Friday?
- 2:34Speaker 2: It was Friday Friday evening.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They were out. She said, I'm sorry. We had a big,
- 2:41Speaker 1: big party in here and they all wanted and I've
- 2:46Speaker 1: never had anything You've never had anything else there, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: we it was kind of embarrassing because mckil and I
- 2:52Speaker 1: were just furious and and our poor guests, Hans and
- 2:56Speaker 1: Reva didn't understand our.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Our rightful we sell rightfully, so they would why why couldn't,
- 3:04Speaker 3: I mean, why why could I mean? I would just
- 3:07Speaker 3: look at you though there is a menu with thousands
- 3:10Speaker 3: of items on it, it's okay, something else.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It's not okay.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh that's right. Our cousins, our children.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And our waiter was a waiter we hadn't had before.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Usually when we're a Prairie schooner, we have Courtney. And
- 3:23Speaker 1: Courtney knows our yes, and she walked by and we said, Courtney,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you're at a chicken price, damn it. She's like, I know,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. I don't know what you guys are
- 3:32Speaker 1: gonna do.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So what did you do?
- 3:35Speaker 1: I mean, so they have the little steak bites there,
- 3:38Speaker 1: which is an appetizer. It's not the same thing as
- 3:42Speaker 1: as the chicken fried steak. So after all of this
- 3:47Speaker 1: I'm home yesterday, I.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Like to know what Courtney and Riva had.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I think everybody just ended up getting steak, which was fine.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But yesterday I'm cleaning out my bookshelves and what did
- 4:03Speaker 1: I run across in my bookshelves was the Radio from
- 4:07Speaker 1: Hell Not for children children's book, And I thought, oh,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I forgot we did this. Yeah, you did it as
- 4:14Speaker 1: a fundraiser years ago for the Road Home. And it's
- 4:19Speaker 1: and it's written like a children's book. You know, A
- 4:22Speaker 1: is for alcohol is the F is the first one.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And I'm flipping through it and I get to C
- 4:30Speaker 1: and do you know what.
- 4:31Speaker 2: C is for the ABC chicken? C is for chicken
- 4:37Speaker 2: fried steak. On my plate, it's brown and it's hot,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and I and to eat it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I can't wait, And I said, I sent a picture
- 4:45Speaker 1: of that to Hans and Reva and I said, now,
- 4:49Speaker 1: now maybe you'll understand how important chicken fried steak is
- 4:52Speaker 1: because we did a children's book and my selection for
- 4:56Speaker 1: the book was the letter C for chicken fried.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And you'll know and you'll notice that that I am
- 5:02Speaker 2: depicted as what I really am, and that the child.
- 5:08Speaker 2: So I'm looking through this book. Did we write these yes.
- 5:14Speaker 1: That's how you got chicken fried steak is see we
- 5:17Speaker 1: divided them.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Up because I don't recall any of these that I wrote.
- 5:22Speaker 2: How did we divide them up? Do we know?
- 5:24Speaker 1: You don't remember?
- 5:25Speaker 2: But the illustrations are absolutely charming.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Remember it says in there who did a.
- 5:31Speaker 2: F It says it's illustrated by Amy Forston? Amy Forston?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Where is Amy Forston?
- 5:42Speaker 1: I don't know? Amy? Are you listening?
- 5:43Speaker 2: These are charming illustrations.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It's a really cute.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It's very well laid out and put together. I'm impressed.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Now you forgot we did this, didn't you?
- 5:55Speaker 2: I did? Now the name, the or the writing isn't well.
- 5:59Speaker 4: It's written like Ldren's book. It's yeah, supposed to be
- 6:01Speaker 4: high brow. R Here's here's one for Carrie and is
- 6:05Speaker 4: for neuticle. Ah, Carrie has one, and you guess which
- 6:09Speaker 4: one is? This game is sure fun doesn't really rhyme
- 6:15Speaker 4: very well. Let's see what's let's do another one here?
- 6:19Speaker 4: Oh there was one for me that was really telling. Uh,
- 6:26Speaker 4: this is a good one. Fis for flip the Utah
- 6:28Speaker 4: square swap. God knows what you're meaning and you wish
- 6:31Speaker 4: yould stop.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Uh yeah, you've got one ball. I've got one solid ball.
- 6:39Speaker 2: This is really we should do a sequel to this.
- 6:42Speaker 2: We should. Sweet lady cancer took one of my nads.
- 6:46Speaker 2: P is for piste off. P is also for pound.
- 6:50Speaker 2: What Bill does to the table when he's pissed off
- 6:52Speaker 2: with them.
- 6:54Speaker 1: See that's a good one.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yes, it's all right.
- 6:56Speaker 1: You know who has one real testicle? That's what they
- 7:02Speaker 1: call it. They call it he's.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Got one ball. There was an old World War II
- 7:14Speaker 2: song too, Hitler has only one ball, and Himmler has
- 7:19Speaker 2: something similar. Garring has only one ball, hit Himmler has
- 7:26Speaker 2: something similar, and Hitler has no balls at all. Something
- 7:30Speaker 2: like that. Didn't know I was a World World War
- 7:36Speaker 2: two vet. They did not. Well, that sweet little book.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I love.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Because you're always touching it. Hey, when you only got
- 7:48Speaker 2: one you like to make sure it's still there. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: don't remember that. That's good. You know what we could
- 7:54Speaker 2: do is just reissue it. We could do a reissue
- 7:58Speaker 2: of it. I would take the There's a quote on
- 8:00Speaker 2: the back of it that I would take off. It says,
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'd like to tell you this. On the back cover,
- 8:06Speaker 2: I'd like to tell you that this book is an
- 8:08Speaker 2: epic in contemporary literature and Destined not in Destined for
- 8:14Speaker 2: a nod from the Pulitzer Prize folks, But I haven't
