- 0:00Welcome to our professional briefing. Today,
- 0:02we're examining a highly effective workplace
- 0:06sustainability initiative. Oh, nice. It comes
- 0:09straight out of the UAE. It is a perfect example
- 0:13of turning environmental policy into daily practice.
- 0:17Employees of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority
- 0:20recycled... Get this, 412 ,041 plastic bottles
- 0:26and aluminum cans in 2025 alone. Wow, that's
- 0:31huge. They did this using smart recycling machines
- 0:34installed across several Diwa buildings. What
- 0:38makes this really work is how it integrates with
- 0:40employee daily life. Operated through Diwa's
- 0:43smart office app, the machines actually scan
- 0:46employees' QR codes. Right. This enables them
- 0:50to earn points for each transaction. They even
- 0:53qualify for monthly raffle draws offering valuable
- 0:56prizes. By gamifying the process, the numbers
- 0:59have grown incredibly. Just looking at the timeline,
- 1:03since the installation of the machines in October
- 1:052022 and up to the end of the first quarter of
- 1:092026, Yeah? employees have diverted more than
- 1:1319 tons of waste from landfill. They recycled
- 1:16over 1 .3 million plastic bottles and aluminum
- 1:20cans. That is a massive reduction in landfill
- 1:23waste. Ultimately, the initiative supports Diwa's
- 1:27vision to be a globally leading sustainable and
- 1:30innovative corporation, committed to achieving
- 1:32net zero by 2050. Definitely. At the same time,
- 1:37it reflects its efforts to promote sustainable
- 1:39practices in both the workplace and at home.
- 1:42And this is a... operating in a vacuum. It actively
- 1:45supports the circular economy. This initiative
- 1:48aligns with the Dubai Integrated Waste Management
- 1:51Strategy 2021 -2041. Right. This strategy promotes
- 1:56innovation in waste management, recycling, and
- 1:58waste -to -energy solutions. It delivers practical
- 2:01and sustainable responses to environmental challenges.
- 2:05It also supports Diwa's Circular Economy Strategy,
- 2:08which focuses on optimizing resource use and
- 2:11maximizing economic, social, and environmental
- 2:14value. Absolutely. It aims to support sustainability
- 2:17across the UAE and Dubai. Diwa's Circular Economy
- 2:21Strategy serves as a comprehensive framework,
- 2:24guiding its efforts to expand circular economy
- 2:27applications and adopt global best practices.
- 2:31This contributes to sustainable economic growth
- 2:34while protecting the environment and ensuring
- 2:36the responsible use of natural resources. To
- 2:39make that actionable, the strategy is built on
- 2:42five key principles. First is circular design
- 2:45and the use of recyclable materials. Okay. The
- 2:49rest are optimized asset management, value retention
- 2:52and end -of -life treatment, promotion of renewable
- 2:55energy and water efficiency, and finally, the
- 2:57activation of circular partnerships. And it ensures
- 3:01every stakeholder is involved because it also
- 3:04highlights Diwa's value chain. Yeah. They really
- 3:07focus on smart users, circular procurement, and
- 3:10supplier engagement. It's a remarkable blueprint
- 3:14for corporate environmental responsibility. Now,
- 3:16here's a question we'd like you to think about.
- 3:19Oh, go ahead. How could your own workplace implement
- 3:22smart technology and gamification? Imagine transforming
- 3:26daily waste into a driver for a circular economy.
