- 0:00Speaker 1: That was going on as Romeo. We talked a lot
- 0:02today about your dogs, how you ended up with them.
- 0:05We asked, we asked for something. You ever asked for
- 0:08something and got it? You never know, you're just surprised. Well,
- 0:11you got to ask if you're gonna find out right?
- 0:13And then poor foods. We're talking about poor foods as well.
- 0:16So also we talked about a girl decided she didn't
- 0:19want to go to a college even though her parents
- 0:20had planned for it her whole life. So we got
- 0:22a lot to get into. Let's check it out. Let
- 0:25me ask you guys this about your marriages. And I
- 0:29never I really don't understand this. A friend of mine,
- 0:33so yesterday I was coming home from the golf course
- 0:38and on when I was driving home, there was this
- 0:41little puppy in the bushes that I saw on the
- 0:44side of the road. So I don't know if somebody
- 0:47left the dog there, I got lost or whatever. It was, right,
- 0:50So I pulled over. The little dog didn't run for me.
- 0:52It came right to me. When I went to get it.
- 0:55I threw it in my car and I took it home.
- 0:59What am I gonna leave a little puppy there? So
- 1:00I took it to the house. Well, I send out
- 1:02a picture to my friends. You guys all probably do this. Hey,
- 1:06I found this dog. Anybody want a dog? Anybody want
- 1:10to take it home? Another friend of mine that I
- 1:14sent the photo to has a couple of daughters, and
- 1:17he says, I'll take it. Yeah, let me come by
- 1:20and get it. He gets off work, come by, picks
- 1:23it up, goes home, right, I mean, he calls me
- 1:30about a half hour later and he says, hey, man,
- 1:32can I bring the dog back? My wife said, my
- 1:35wife said we can't have it. And I thought, who's
- 1:40your wife to tell you you can't have a dog?
- 1:44Who's your wife to tell? I mean, really, I bet
- 1:48if your wife brought home a dog, it would be okay.
- 1:52But I know, I don't understand some of the dynamics
- 1:58that you have with your spouse. You can't like I
- 2:02have a buddy who said, who if he's gonna spend
- 2:04over one hundred bucks, he has to tell his wife
- 2:08he works. She works. I mean the buddy that picked
- 2:13up the puppy is. They both got great jobs. They
- 2:16live in a great neighborhood, They have plenty of room
- 2:18for the dog. They have a couple of little girls
- 2:19that are going to take care of them the dog.
- 2:21I mean, it's just the logic I don't get it.
- 2:27Is it that you just want you just got a
- 2:29power trip, You're just your ego has to check your
- 2:32spouse once in a while, or how does that exactly work?
- 2:36By the way, they kept the dog. Okay, if the
- 2:38dog's not going anywhere the little girls, uh yeah, maybe
- 2:42the little girls convinced the mom or whatever the case
- 2:44may be. But the dog, the puppy is staying, has
- 2:46a home.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:48Speaker 1: My point though, is who is your spouse to tell
- 2:51you you can't do something, especially something like that if
- 2:56you want to go buy something, and then why why
- 3:00can't you? I mean, it just seems absurd to me
- 3:05that this happened yesterday already four two, five, four or
- 3:09seven and seven? Why do you do that? Why do
- 3:10you tell your spouse they can't do something, especially something
- 3:14so ridiculous like bringing home a puppy, or or are
- 3:17spending more than one hundred dollars or you know, buying
- 3:20whatever you want to buy. Why I don't get the
- 3:27logic behind that. Why do you do it?
- 3:30Speaker 3: So?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Buddy of mine, I found a little puppy yesterday on
- 3:33my way home, on my way home from the golf course,
- 3:35and I put it out there. All my friends asked
- 3:38if anybody wanted a dog, you know, anybody would take
- 3:40care of it looking for it, and usually you can
- 3:42find somebody, right. Well, friend of mine did, and what
- 3:46happens is is he calls me after he picks up
- 3:48the dog and he says, oh, my wife said we
- 3:52can't have it. And I was like, well, who's your
- 3:54wife to tell you? You're a grown man with a job
- 3:57with a family. I mean, well, I don't understand the
- 4:02logic behind that, where your spouse gets to dictate certain
- 4:06things to you. I don't understand that already. Four two
- 4:09five four or seven to seven eight Romeo, I gotta
- 4:13tell you a funny story about my spouse. My wife
- 4:15comes home one day and I had just bought a
- 4:19brand new TV for the living room. She told me
- 4:23to take it back because we didn't need it. And
- 4:26I thought, that's what I'm saying, What what?
- 4:31Speaker 3: What?
- 4:31Speaker 1: You can't buy a TV? Good morning?
- 4:32Speaker 2: How?
- 4:32Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 4:34Speaker 2: Hey? What's up wrong?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Hey?
- 4:35Speaker 4: What?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Man?
- 4:37Speaker 3: I turned trying to get mad at me one time
- 4:39because I brought these thoughts.
- 4:41Speaker 2: You know what, I'll be damn with my wife and
- 4:43to tell you what I could bring or can I
- 4:44be exactly? You know what I mean? I got now,
- 4:47I got dogs and a cat.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying, it's just so silly that they're certa.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I just, uh, yeah, I'm I'm had your boy keet
- 5:00that doctor. If not, he would have fell in that
- 5:02sucker category. So he did it, so I'm proud of it.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's just crazy. I just don't get where these uh
- 5:08and it's probably I.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Don't know, well you know what the technic is. Kind
- 5:12of when you said it, well, that kind of made
- 5:13me think like when you're a little kid and you
- 5:15show up with the doctor your parents and they're like, no, no,
- 5:17you can't keep Hey, I'm sorry, do you tell your
- 5:20parents I can't keep the dog?
- 5:21Speaker 2: My mama? Dad says, you know what I mean, that's
- 5:23what it fell. Tells me like it was mama talking.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Could be I don't know. That's just crazy to me,
- 5:28all right, man, I just don't get it out. Because
- 5:31I had a guy. It was funny because I was
- 5:33playing golf with the guy. This was last year sometime
- 5:37and his him and his wife's credit cards. Apparently she
- 5:40didn't work, so she went and bought some patio furniture.
- 5:43And it popped up while we're playing golf, and he's like,
- 5:47oh my gosh, she bought predial furniture. She can't do that.
- 5:49I gotta, I gotta take care of this. And I'm like, dude,
- 5:52it's it's Thursday at eleven am. You're out here playing
- 5:56golf instead of working. She doesn't know that, but yet
- 6:00you're gonna tell her she can't buy something for her patio.
- 6:03I mean, there are a whole lot of things out
- 6:06there that you guys need to reevaluate that you're getting
- 6:09upset about. You know already four two five four or
- 6:13seven to seven, go burn to help.
- 6:15Speaker 4: What's going on, Romeo. There are some things that we
- 6:18will never understand. But yeah, that's just the way it is.
- 6:21Speaker 5: And that's one of them. What you're explaining right now.
- 6:26What you've never heard. The term a happy wife, happy
- 6:30life literally.
- 6:31Speaker 1: The stupidest term I've ever heard, you know, because if
- 6:35you actually, if you actually follow that policy, you're with
- 6:39the wrong woman.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Well well I never knew, you know, it was the truth.
- 6:44And tell let me give you an example So if
- 6:46you ever wonder who runs the household, take for instance,
- 6:50me and my wife to fight, me argue, she's mad
- 6:52at me, and she tries to get some from me.
- 6:54I've never said no. I give in very quickly and.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Be like, okay, I forget about her argument.
- 7:00Speaker 4: If she's upsit and I try to get some, I
- 7:03might have to wait a month.
- 7:04Speaker 1: If that's your determining factor that you're you're with a
- 7:09pathetic woman. If that's and if you're that's you're determining
- 7:12factor on life, you're a moron.
- 7:14Speaker 2: They're all they're all like that.
- 7:16Speaker 4: So unless you, you know, change your ways and make
- 7:19her happy, life is going to be miserable. I'm just
- 7:22telling you. Ask anybody that's married, okay.
- 7:24Speaker 1: All right them, I'll ask them all right now, all right.
- 7:27But that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, by the way,
- 7:31and a lot of you guys feel like greater Dave,
- 7:33happy wife, happy lives. You're that. If I got to
- 7:36live my life like that, then what kind of life
- 7:40are you really living? What kind of relationship are you
- 7:42really in? You're married to some selfish woman who only
- 7:46thinks about herself. That's just ridiculous. But I know you
- 7:50guys are that stupid. I know you guys are that
- 7:53stupid already fourteen, five, four or seven to seven year
- 7:56wrong about the dogs. She's probably the one taking care
- 7:58of the dogs, not him. Maybe, I mean, I I
- 8:05don't think so. In fact, I know that's not the case.
- 8:08But yeah, I just, I just it's letting your spouse
- 8:15dictate what you can and can't do in your home
- 8:20is absurd to me, and I just like Raider Dave,
- 8:25I feel sorry. I feel so. I actually feel sorry
- 8:28for Raider Dave's marriage if he if he truly believes
- 8:31what he just told me, Boy, what kind of what
- 8:34kind of life is that to lead?
- 8:35Speaker 3: All?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Right? This idea that your spouse can tell you no,
- 8:41And there's certain things right the extremes. But if you
- 8:45want to go buy a new TV, you want to
- 8:47go bring a dog home, and you have to ask
- 8:50your spouse for permission before you can do that, what
- 8:53you you should not Your spouse should not be able
- 8:57to tell you no when it comes something you want
- 9:00to do at home. What is you're a grown adult?
- 9:04What kind of relationship are you in? Raider Dave's over
- 9:08here saying happy wife, Happy life. Why would a man
- 9:12follow that rule and be miserable? Why would you do that? Already?
- 9:18Four two five four or seven A seven? Hey Rome,
- 9:21I want to tell me, Tuck, my husband said no,
- 9:23but but yet he's getting his old truck done up.
- 9:29But that okay? So what why does he get to
- 9:32say no? There's another great example. If you want it,
- 9:36go get it. Why does he get to tell you? You, guys,
- 9:41in these marriages, you're supposed to be equals, not a
- 9:45parent child relationship. So what gives him the right to
- 9:49tell you no? Just go do it? You know what
- 9:54I'm saying? Already four two five, four seven A seven?
- 9:57Hey Romio, I'm just gonna start off by telling you
- 10:02I got three girlfriends. All four of us are really hot.
- 10:06We work out together. I would say, we're all tense.
- 10:10Now they are all married to They are all married
- 10:16to hot guys and have a lot of problems in
- 10:19their marriage. I think it's a bunch of egos. I
- 10:25think it's a bunch of egos battling with each other. Oh,
- 10:30I see what you're saying. Okay, so they're bumping heads,
- 10:33egos bumpingheads. My husband's probably a six. So my husband
- 10:39loves me so much. Because he's got a hot woman
- 10:41by his side, he does whatever I want, and because
- 10:46of that, I let him do whatever he wants. So
- 10:50maybe some of these people need to look at it
- 10:51that way. Rome. It's not about happy wife, happy life,
- 10:56It's about he allows me, so I allow him. Oh yeah,
- 11:01if he's a six and you're a ten and you
- 11:03still working on yourself, ain't nobody gonna throw that away.
- 11:06Ain't no six thrown away a ten?
- 11:08Speaker 2: All right?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Arey for you? Five? For seven to seven? I was
- 11:12just backsucker again.
- 11:13Speaker 5: I'm what you're in your on the radios.
- 11:14Speaker 6: I heard everything, so I know what you druk about
- 11:16out like, but I ever time to go out.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I like to drink.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Oh, I like to drink.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Some huss always like, no, you can't always to.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Drin dream you can't always drink drinking.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We go and I go, okay, then I want drink
- 11:27wall I'll just get drunk at home and then when
- 11:29you drive, I'm just go with you.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So that way, no, I don't have to drink in
- 11:33my mouth.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I have already drunk.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I think the idea. I think the idea is publicly
- 11:39when you're drunk you're a jackass, so he doesn't want
- 11:42you out drunk, regardless of where you get drunk.
- 11:45Speaker 4: At because I do drink a lot of home. I
- 11:48don't drink you. I don't drink you drive so that
- 11:51way when I know he's driving.
- 11:52Speaker 1: What are you on this morning? You're talking, You're all
- 11:55over the places, cluzzy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: My god, I.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Don't get at it. Boy, she's everywhere about Oh my gosh,
- 12:05all any four two fop four or seven to seven?
- 12:10Why did you send me here?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Uh?
- 12:15Speaker 1: What? Why is this not working now? My text message
- 12:17stuff is not working already? All right? Anyway alr any
- 12:19four two five four or seven to seven? Like I said,
- 12:23you're a grown adult, right your spouse should not be
- 12:26able should not be dictating what you do or don't
- 12:30do in your own home. To be honest with you,
- 12:32I mean with the it just if you want to
- 12:34buy a new TV, then you should be able to
- 12:36do that. Yeah, I don't know. I just hey, Romeo,
- 12:45I hear nos sometimes when I turn when I turn
- 12:48around and I hear go, and I'm on my way.
- 12:52Well yeah, like if you it's just what kind of
- 12:56relationship are you really in? Seriously? What kind of relationship
- 12:59are you really what kind of marriage are you really in?
- 13:02If that's what's happening, you know, where you can't do
- 13:05something so simple as you know, I don't know, find
- 13:08a lost puppy and bring it home already four two five, four,
- 13:12seven to seven. Hey roll, Hey, I'm married. And my
- 13:14wife heard that and said she sounds like a bee.
- 13:17Oh the yeah, not yeah. The dog thing. For those
- 13:20who either missed it or just missed what we were
- 13:22talking about earlier, I found a dog and I called
- 13:26a buddy of mine and he said he'd take it,
- 13:29you know, So he took it home to his girls,
- 13:31his daughters, and the mom said, the wife said, he
- 13:33called me back to his wife said he couldn't keep it,
- 13:37which is, well, how do you let your wife tell
- 13:39you that you're a grown man with a job, and
- 13:42you take care of a household, you should definitely be
- 13:45able to bring home something if you want to already
- 13:48four two five, four or seven to seven. E Romeo,
- 13:51I was listening to you talk about bringing home the dogs.
- 13:53We'll check this out. About a month ago, I found
- 13:57a couple of bigger dogs just wandering the shs, so
- 14:00I grabbed him up threw him in the backyard. My
- 14:04wife came home and I told her what happened. She said, oh,
- 14:07what are you going to do? I said? I said,
- 14:09I think I'm just gonna keep them as outside dogs.
- 14:13We have a big yard. I can build them a house.
- 14:16Everything will be good. My wife said we can't do
- 14:20that because we have three inside dogs, and that the
- 14:24two outside dogs would get jealous. So my wife said
- 14:29I had to get rid of them. Check it out room.
- 14:38Oh god, that's funny, he said, check it out room.
- 14:41I told her, no, kept the dogs. Now I have
- 14:43five inside dogs. Oh that's hilarious. Yeah, why would you?
- 14:52Why can't you have an out if you have a
- 14:55nice backyard, you know, if you can keep them, you know,
- 14:58get them a nice dog. Why can't you have dogs?
- 15:01Dogs don't get jealous. What are you talking about? You
- 15:05think you think the outside dogs get jealous of the
- 15:08inside dogs. Come on, man, they're just happy. If you
- 15:13find two dogs running the streets, don't you think that
- 15:17they are better off in your backyard with a doghouse
- 15:21and food and shelter than they are running the streets.
- 15:24Who cares that they can't come into the house. I
- 15:25bet they don't ALRIGHTY four two seven to seven, all right,
- 15:31would you send me here? Hey, Romeo, check this out.
- 15:35My wife believes that every dog that we've ever found
- 15:40was meant to live with us. She believes that every
- 15:43animal will find a home and that's how life works.
- 15:49So we have four dog My wife found them all
- 15:52just on a road side or someplace like that.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Wow.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if I disagree with that.
- 15:59I kind of believe that because I got a cat,
- 16:02I got the I got a couple of animals. I've
- 16:04had an animal that somebody found on the side of
- 16:08the road, brought it to the station and ended up
- 16:11taking it. I ended up taking it home with me.
- 16:13I had a cat that came up when it was
- 16:15a kitten just to my doorstep and didn't leave. So
- 16:19that leaves me So maybe let be right about that.
- 16:22I mean, there might be some validity. Did animal it
- 16:25was meant to be? Right? You guys believe that. I
- 16:29believe your animals you were meant to.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Have Themmeo, that is not entirely true.
- 16:34Speaker 2: What's that about the dogs?
- 16:36Speaker 1: You know?
- 16:36Speaker 5: I have a terrier blchwaha terrier that's an inside dog.
- 16:41She's very very spoiled.
- 16:43Speaker 2: So my wife said, oh, if.
- 16:44Speaker 5: You're kidding now lonely, we need to get her a friend.
- 16:48So I rescued a little pitbull from the streets.
- 16:51Speaker 1: How did you rescue it from the streets? What do
- 16:53you mean you found it or you?
- 16:55Speaker 5: Well, somebody sold it to my wife and told her
- 16:58it was an apple hitch wall, And as soon as
- 17:02she's ride it home, I knew, okay, that's pet bull.
- 17:04She's like no. I would sit out on the street
- 17:06and I bothered her twenty five dollars, and sure enough,
- 17:10the dog turned into a big old pit bull. But
- 17:13but she was raised by the terrier, and I built
- 17:18her the pit bull house outside. I try to keep
- 17:21her outside, but she did not want to be outside.
- 17:24She'd think she's shahuahua, think she's a terrier. She wants
- 17:27to be inside. She's very blougy. She does not want
- 17:31to be outside. The terrier don't doesn't go outside, so
- 17:34the pit bull doesn't want to go outside. So now
- 17:36I got two dogs that want to jump in bed
- 17:37and want to act like a little dogs.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But that's because you don't. You didn't leave it outside
- 17:42to begin with.
- 17:43Speaker 5: But I feel that because the terrier goes by the
- 17:46door and kind of teethes her and like put your
- 17:49pail at her and let her know that you you're outside.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And I'm inside.
- 17:53Speaker 5: The pit bull will cry until I opened the door
- 17:57and let her in. She's really changed. She shifts down
- 17:59on her brother and everything.
- 18:00Speaker 1: But that's because you're a sucker.
- 18:05Speaker 5: I love the animals, so I can't leave one of
- 18:07them outside and one of them inside. That's just not right.
- 18:10Speaker 1: You can, though, if you have two, If you have
- 18:13two big dogs, they can live outside.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Yeah, she's just one big dog, but she thinks she's
- 18:20a little dog.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Well, you can't leave one dog outside by itself. That's
- 18:23just me if you if you had two big dogs
- 18:26outside that you picked up today and had of a doghouse,
- 18:30they'd be fine.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna try that.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Maybe I'll get another big dogs outside.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You you have three dogs, No, you gotta have You
- 18:38can't put the other one outside after I already lived inside.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Yeah, because she does not like your she'll skip by
- 18:44the door. The terrier will do circle by the door
- 18:46set until I let her in.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Exactly. You can't do that now. Now you're stuck.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm stuck.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Right later, you can't. You gotta have rules from the beginning.
- 18:58You train your dogs. But like the guy said, if his,
- 19:03if his, the dogs don't get jealous of each other.
- 19:07I don't think. But if you had two bigger dogs
- 19:10that you just let them live outside that was there,
- 19:13that was where they lived. You get them a dog house,
- 19:15you get them whatever they need to be, you know,
- 19:17to be safe and comfortable. Then they'll be fine outside
- 19:21and the little dogs can live inside. The problem is,
- 19:24you know who other dogs don't get jealous. It's the
- 19:27humans who can't handle it. Just like Greater Dave, it's
- 19:29too sad, oh to be sad if our dog. If
- 19:32we have dogs outside and inside, you can have inside
- 19:34dogs and outside dogs. That's uh, you know all right?
- 19:39Eight four two five four seven seven. The better question, though,
- 19:43is do you believe your animals? Animal animals were meant
- 19:48to be with you? You know, do you believe that
- 19:54that you I mean, everybody's got to have a story.
- 19:56I have a cat. I have a story about a cat.
- 19:58Actually I have two stories about and the animals that
- 20:00I've had, uh well three uh one I went to
- 20:05I guess, yeah, they had this this dog I wanted
- 20:09and so many people wanted this dog. The SBCA had
- 20:15had said you have to come and bid on it. Well,
- 20:17I lost the bid for the dog, and immediately this
- 20:22other dog came running to me and took it home
- 20:24because it just like it was like I was supposed
- 20:27to lose the bid for the dog that I wanted,
- 20:30because this dog was coming home with me, just like
- 20:34the cat. This little kitten that came to my door
- 20:37sat at my door for two days until I finally
- 20:39threw it in the backyard and fed it, and now
- 20:43it lives in the house. So sometimes you just gotta
- 20:47think these animals know what they're doing. They really do
- 20:50already four two five four seven to seven. So do
- 20:53you guys think that, uh, your animals, you were meant
- 20:56to have your animals, They just, I mean, everybody's gotta
- 20:58have some crazy story about it handed how they ended
- 21:01up with you know, a dog, a cat or whatever,
- 21:04you know, and they were just meant to be. Animals
- 21:07find their homes. I think animals do. I actually believe
- 21:10that somebody said that text of that earlier. I actually
- 21:13believe that an animal will find the person that they're
- 21:16supposed to be with already four two pot four or
- 21:18seven to seven, Rome, we have had three dogs and
- 21:22two cats, and all of them were all other people's animals.
- 21:26They couldn't keep, and we took in or they would
- 21:30have had to go to the pound. But I don't
- 21:33want any more. But I mean you say that, right,
- 21:42you say you don't want any You don't want any more.
- 21:44You don't want you know, this is the last lesson?
- 21:48How come they keep showing up? How come there's some
- 21:51sort of circumstance that always arises where you end up
- 21:57with an animal. Now, one could argue, I'll argue that
- 22:04what I'm talking about is not real. The animal didn't
- 22:07find you. You're just such a good person that you. Uh,
- 22:14that's how you had nothing to do with the animal
- 22:16just has has to do with your personality. Is a
- 22:18good person, right, a good, loving, caring person who likes animals?
- 22:23You know, I don't know. Would you text me here? Hey, Rome,
- 22:27when are you gonna start giving out those Mac and
- 22:29Cheese fest tickets? When is the mac and cheese FETs?
- 22:33That's two weeks from now, three weeks from now, it's
- 22:35the ninth May night? Is that right?
- 22:39Speaker 5: Uh?
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll give them out soon. Just uh, yeah,
- 22:42probably the week before. It's a couple of weeks away.
- 22:44Keep listening. I'm sure we'll give some away. Morry, not
- 22:46what's going on?
- 22:48Speaker 2: You're roan. What about all the money you spent on
- 22:50your dogs too, the ones you.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Rescue, you know, you know? And I took that cat,
- 22:56that cat that I ended up, and I took it
- 22:58to get it fixed because it was a boy. They
- 23:00wanted to run some something on it that to pretest
- 23:05it if it might get some sort of cancer or something.
- 23:07Thirty years from now or twenty years from now. Yeah,
- 23:11they get you.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Oh man, my my my son had found this dog.
- 23:17It was probably like six months ago. Hey dad, can
- 23:20you just like house train it? You're good at it,
- 23:23and then I'll give it away.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I was like yeah, and I that dog made me
- 23:28fall for it.
- 23:30Speaker 2: That's where me and then and then the bad thing
- 23:35was I had it for like fourteen years and then
- 23:37she got diabetes.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Dude.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I had to take yeah driver to watch go once
- 23:43a month, shote to day and then I lost her
- 23:48about two months. Good. I cried like a bang for
- 23:51three days.
- 23:52Speaker 1: That's what that's rough.
- 23:55Speaker 3: It was tough, man, But yeah, it's the money you too,
- 23:58you put it, I.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Jo Rome. We were talking about being poor yesterday.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Yeah, what's your favorite poor food?
- 24:07Speaker 1: Mine?
- 24:08Speaker 2: You got one?
- 24:10Speaker 1: Oh man? I used to eat rice and chili beans
- 24:14with crackers. Uh huh that was that wasn't bad. Or
- 24:18refried bean tacos, you know, just refried beans, and because
- 24:22I couldn't afford meat, so refried beans and tacos. That
- 24:25was what I was feeling.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Flower tortilla with miracle with.
- 24:33Speaker 3: We were so we were traveling, play ball, dude, and
- 24:36we'd be like we would have to do with And.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I still, dude, I still got that urge once in
- 24:41a while be watching.
- 24:42Speaker 1: That would make me a tortilla miracle with. You know what,
- 24:45I wonder why. I wonder why. I mean I grew
- 24:48up eating flower tortillas with with butter on them, and
- 24:52I don't know why I don't eat that no more.
- 24:54I haven't had one of those in probably thirty years.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I have would just go back to your when you're
- 25:00a little.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Kid, like, yeah, that's crazy, all right.
- 25:04Speaker 2: All right, Hey what's up kids with butter? Yeah? They
- 25:11used to give us a set of getting up like
- 25:14a jelly town, which we would get a jelly flower
- 25:16to kill with butter.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Oh god, that's nasty.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like you said, bro I haven't had that just
- 25:21out as a kid.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That sounds terrible, all right, but it.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Fills the valley up, you know what I mean. When
- 25:27you broke, you broke.
- 25:28Speaker 1: When you broke, you broke. You know it's funny. We
- 25:33were talking about eating the gosh gosh, when we're just broke, broke, man,
- 25:37how would you eat, you know, poor foods we used to.
- 25:43I'm trying to think what else I used to eat
- 25:46rice with chili beans on it. Rice was pasta, Pasta
- 25:50was cheap. I think we would eat pasta, but you know,
- 25:53by a jar sauce and a pasta that would go
- 25:58a long way. Trying to think what else we ate
- 26:00when we had no money? My favorite poor food? I
- 26:06don't know. You know what's funny about I will tell
- 26:08you something funny though about about poor food. What you
- 26:12eat when you were when you were broke. Carnia soada
- 26:18asada used to be uh rich for me, like, and
- 26:24that was when it was like ninety nine cents. This was,
- 26:26you know, twenty five years ago. Now it's way expensive,
- 26:31but uh that used to be you know, something that
- 26:35was like and it's still and it was still poor
- 26:37back then, but it was still the poorest meat you
- 26:41can buy back when I was really broke. But yeah,
- 26:45that was a luxury for me already four two or
- 26:49as Evans evan, what was your favorite poor food? What
- 26:51did you guys eat when you were broke?
- 26:54Speaker 2: From It's up, Well.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I grew up in a middle family.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Now that I you know, now that I'm older as
- 27:05an adult thinking back, was like, yeah, time tack has
- 27:08been hard because I remember my mom at multiple times
- 27:13making it, uh, the big Swanson family meals like the
- 27:18Southberry steak or the turkey and gravy or whatever it was,
- 27:23making the siges with it, like mashed potatoes and toast
- 27:27the spread and make like the open face sandwiches. Like
- 27:31we thought that it was just like you know, this
- 27:34expensive bond meal almost like you know Thanksgivings now too,
- 27:41Like we must have been having a hard that we
- 27:44was all, you know, the whole eating the swamps and
- 27:47tini dinner.
- 27:52Speaker 1: That's pretty funny.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I had no idea, Right, that's great.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Hey, thanks you for calling, right all right? Eight four two,
- 28:06five four or seven to seven? Would you send me here? Hey?
- 28:10Rome Um somebody called me about something. Wait, what did
- 28:17somebody call me about?
- 28:18Speaker 5: Uh?
- 28:21Speaker 1: Where is uh? Is it? Rubin has sent me Rome
- 28:24hamburger meat with potato tacos. Hamburger meat with potato tacos.
- 28:30I never had that, You know that. This is kind
- 28:33of funny. It was broke. We didn't get hamburger meat,
- 28:35but we got uh, we got refried bean tacos. By
- 28:40the way, those are delicious. I still make those today,
- 28:43refried bean tacos. But that's what we ate when we
- 28:46were port too. That was funny. Bread butter sugar put
- 28:50in the bottom of the oven and toasted bread butter sugar. Wow,
- 28:56all right, Rome chili kila is Rome favorite. Some some
- 29:00stale tortillas chili sauce. Now you're looking at seventeen dollars
- 29:04a plate. You ain't lying. Go give me some chillik
- 29:10killers after work today. That's what we used to make
- 29:14it too. My grandmother used to make that when we
- 29:17had no money. Oh man, that's awesome, funny how that works.
- 29:22So all the poor food that we ate is now
- 29:26a delicacy. And you gotta go pay seventeen to twenty
- 29:28five dollars a plate at a restaurant or a taco truck.
- 29:32Speaker 2: What's going on, Romeo, This is mister Frye. What up, brother,
- 29:36How are you doing there?
- 29:37Speaker 1: I'm doing fabulous, man, how are you?
- 29:40Speaker 2: I'm good, brother.
- 29:40Speaker 4: I got a couple of text messages man, from some
- 29:42of my followers.
- 29:43Speaker 2: They said that you gave me a shout out this morning.
- 29:45Speaker 1: On Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 2: About talking about poor food.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Yeah too, man, My face was on the EBT card,
- 29:52you know what I mean.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Let's go maybe those potato tacos, man, those potato tacos hit.
- 30:00Speaker 2: And then there's that famous I wish sandwich.
- 30:04Speaker 4: You put it on the bread and you slap it
- 30:05together and you wish you had some meat in the middle.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's funny. That's funny, man, that's funny.
- 30:13Speaker 5: That's your calling later, have a great day, man, thank you.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the semper fry guy, the I wish sandwich.
- 30:21You remember, bread boy, White bread was just it was
- 30:27just a staple of every poor kitchen, right. Just you
- 30:33can do a lot with some bread.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Many Romeo. My mom used to do the coolest struggle meals.
- 30:40We were top Roman type of family.
- 30:43Speaker 6: Okay, every night, different flavors because we thought, you know,
- 30:47we got the Breton pack it was cool and we
- 30:48thought we was really expensive when it came in a cup.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Once a couple of middle came out to our house.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Oh my god, we thought we were fancy.
- 30:57Speaker 4: And my mom is Asian, so she'll chop up some
- 30:59onion and make it look like, you.
- 31:01Speaker 6: Know, like a you know, real like snappy like she
- 31:04did it from scratch.
- 31:05Speaker 2: It was boil water.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. That's great though. That's a good mom.
- 31:09That's a good mom. That's awesome. That's awesome. Thanks for calling.
- 31:14All right, I remember that Top bram and I had
- 31:17to live off Top Brahma for a while. Yeah, that
- 31:20little flavor packet. Boy, you knew you was broke when
- 31:23you was h but it was good. Top Braman was
- 31:25good already four two five, four seven to seven. Do
- 31:28you guys ever have uh crackers in butter? Do you
- 31:32guys ever eat that? That was another thing we had
- 31:35to eat when it was poor, Uh crackers with butter
- 31:38on them. Sometimes sometimes we get jelly, but but not
- 31:42very often. Already four two, five, fours seven seven. Let's
- 31:46see what you sent me here? Hey, rom a burnt
- 31:52burnt baloney or a hot dog weenie on the stove
- 31:58in burning the Oh yeah, I had to eat hot
- 32:01dogs before. My poor food is marachan Moroccan. What is that?
- 32:07I don't know what that is. It looks familiar, but
- 32:10I don't know what it is. All right, what'd you
- 32:11guys eat? What was your poor food or struggle meal?
- 32:15I like what she said, struggle meal. Oh, we're talking
- 32:17about those broke foods. I like the way the other
- 32:20lady pushed. He said, those struggle meals, you know, back
- 32:23in the day, or maybe now you gotta eat, you
- 32:25gotta eat already. Four two five four seven to seven.
- 32:30Hey Romeo, I love your station. I remember we used
- 32:33to cut a three l Solda bottle put cereal in
- 32:38it and did not have milk, so we used water.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I can honestly say, one thing I never had to
- 32:47do is eat cereal with water. That is one thing
- 32:52I can tell you that I've never had to do.
- 32:55Already four two five, four seven to seven. Roman. I
- 32:58was younger, fourteen to fifteen. My mom would leave me
- 33:01home alone with nothing in the fridge, so I'd eat
- 33:04lettuce and lemon juice. I weighed like ninety pounds, but
- 33:08I ate, you know, I want to say something about that.
- 33:17You know there, you know, we look at we look
- 33:19at you look at people sometimes today, and I think
- 33:23this is really important. You look at some people today
- 33:26and they grew up with struggle meals, right, and they
- 33:30come up a little bit, they get them a good job,
- 33:32they start making a little money. Then everybody talks about well, man,
- 33:36look how much way you put on. Well, that's because
- 33:38you can eat now. I think there's something to that.
- 33:41When you grow up poor and everybody you know you
- 33:44got no food, so you ninety pounds, but you start
- 33:47making a little cheddar and then all of a sudden
- 33:49you want to buy cheddar because you can't eat. I mean,
- 33:52there ain't nothing wrong with that. Hey, Rome, what do
- 33:54you got here?
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yo?
- 33:57Speaker 1: Hey yo? Roam some top ramen with cheese and ham
- 34:00or chie turns and if you want to be extra fancy,
- 34:04slap on some bread and have a sandwich. But that
- 34:07was usually something you do when mom wasn't there because
- 34:11we was using too much ingredients. After that, I thought
- 34:16you was going to say that's what you do when
- 34:17company comes over. He's talking about those struggle meals you
- 34:22know back in the day or maybe today. You know,
- 34:25we ain't got a lot of money. So how are
- 34:26we eating? What are you eating? What was your favorite?
- 34:29They weren't all bad, by the way, poor foods, poor meals,
- 34:33struggle meals, whatever you want to call them, they weren't
- 34:35all bad. A lot of it was actually pretty tasty.
- 34:40Already poured two pot or seven seven. I just tuned
- 34:43in Rome. How about kick cereal and powdered milk? Oh?
- 34:47I never had that? That top ramin recipe is a
- 34:51prison cuisine. Okay, okay? What about what about that mac
- 34:59and cheese?
- 35:00Speaker 3: That?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Uh, that krab mac and cheese? That was kind of
- 35:04a poor food. I remembers eating that hamburger helper without
- 35:07no hamburger, you remember that. Gosh, big boy just made
- 35:12me think of something and I forgot. I forgot what
- 35:15it was that I was going to say about poor food?
- 35:20He yo, Rome, is this topic going?
- 35:23Speaker 3: Uh uh?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Let's see as this topic is going. I was taking
- 35:28my kid to school. My son, who was fourteen, is listening, saying, Dad,
- 35:31we have all we have all these and they're bomb
- 35:36and they're making fun of them. I told him, you're
- 35:40the broke food I told him, they're the broke food.
- 35:44That's what you're that's what you eat when you ain't
- 35:47got no money. He looked at me and said, what
- 35:49we What are we broke? I said, no, I'm broke.
- 35:53You're just going to enjoy being broke with me. We
- 35:58really but when we have some steak, he appreciates it
- 36:03much more. I told him, in ten years, when you
- 36:06got to stock your own food, you will understand and
- 36:09thank me for all these bomb expensive foods. Oh that's great,
- 36:16because I'm confusing the kid. Huh. All right, So we
- 36:18were talking about ridder. Joe was asking about my favorite
- 36:23poor food because we grew up poor. We you know,
- 36:25a lot of us grow poor. Now. That doesn't mean
- 36:30all of us have money now. It just means that
- 36:33we had to live that life for a little while.
- 36:35Maybe we can eat a little better now, but it's
- 36:37not the reason I want to say this is some
- 36:43guy said he's driving his kids to School's fourteen year
- 36:45old and the kid was saying that, Dad, those are
- 36:47all the foods that we got and they're making fun
- 36:50of it, and we're not making fun of it because
- 36:53we're just saying we had to live it and now
- 36:55he's trying to tell his kid. Look, you're gonna understand
- 36:57when you get a little older and you got to
- 36:58fill that fridge. Right, It costs money, and things are
- 37:02you know, things are expensive. But we're not making fun
- 37:06of it. We're just we all lived and so. But
- 37:09I'm gonna tell you this, there is a validity. There
- 37:11is a valid point when people say I grew up poor,
- 37:17I started making a little bit of money, and now
- 37:20I appreciate things a lot more, you know. So, But
- 37:26I do want to say this about I didn't mind
- 37:28being poor, right, not poor poor where I couldn't at
- 37:33least eat every day. But I didn't mind not having
- 37:36the responsibility of a mortgage or a car payment, a
- 37:40big car payment or or or you know, all the bills.
- 37:44I didn't mind. It's just a fine line, man. There's
- 37:48a fine line between when you make just enough money
- 37:52to live a simple life without much accountability to anything,
- 37:56to when you jump up to that next level of
- 37:59now you've got a real job, you decide to buy
- 38:01a house, you decide to have a family. That changes
- 38:03your whole perspective. And we're still struggling even today, all right,
- 38:09rom the best food room Wavos Scorini's and that was
- 38:14a great struggle meal right there. We had refried beans
- 38:19on toast. Refried beans on toast, never heard of it, yom.
- 38:23I remember we could always eat tacos with cream cheese.
- 38:26One never had that. We always had tacos with refried beans.
- 38:30That was always. That was taco night. That was Taco
- 38:34Tuesday at my house because we was poor. Refried bean tacos.
- 38:38They were good, man, they were good, alrighty four two
- 38:41five four seven to seven. Rome. We also ate a
- 38:45lotted ate a lot shredded corn tortillas with eggs and ketchup.
- 38:52I never had that. What is wrong with you guys
- 38:56adding ketchup to eggs, by the way, God, that's disgusting. Noodles,
- 39:02let's see, Rome, we had noodles and baloney mao sandwiches
- 39:06still hits the spot sometimes, but that's the problem. That's
- 39:11also another issue. A lot of that food we ate
- 39:15when we were struggling is good. It was good, you know,
- 39:20we liked it. Who does it like butter on crackers?
- 39:26If you ain't had a saltine with butter on it, boy,
- 39:29you better go have one today. You better make those
- 39:32as appetizers before dinner tonight for your kids already four
- 39:36two fot four seven seven savice day WEENI. We're talking
- 39:44about those struggle meals right when you're broke. What do
- 39:46you eat? Already? Four two fat four seven to seven?
- 39:50You know, we might want to have the conversation. Also,
- 39:53what did you splurge on? What was a splurge for you?
- 39:56You know, like I told you I was Carna. It
- 40:00used to be a splurg for me. You know, when
- 40:02I was in college, I had no money. I was
- 40:04eating beans and rice and that was it. But whenever
- 40:08I got any type you know, like my grandmother sent
- 40:11me a grandma my grandma sent me a birthday check
- 40:14or something like that. Yeah, that that car, that cheap
- 40:19flank steak asada, that was a splurt for me already
- 40:22four two five four or seven to seven? Uh weenis
- 40:27and eggs with corn tortillas. That's pretty funny. Casadillas is
- 40:33a good one too. Our our poor meal for us
- 40:37was nopalles with egg burritos. And that's because my aunt
- 40:42had noapaulas and chickens in her backyard. Oh okay, all right,
- 40:46all right, let's see here, what'd you send me here.
- 40:52Do you remember when they used to give the box
- 40:55of food at the food bank and they had they
- 40:58had bat they and the bad the silver can pork
- 41:04in a can. What was in that stuff? I don't
- 41:07remember that they had the silver can that was pork
- 41:09in a can. No, I don't remember that. That's interesting, hey, Romeo,
- 41:14excuse me. My mom was a single parent, and when
- 41:18the Hamburger helper with what we thought as a child
- 41:23was hamburger meat, but now that I'm growing, it was
- 41:26some kind of mystery meat in a can. We knew
- 41:29no better when I when I became a parent, Hamburger
- 41:33helper was not made in my house. It's pretty funny, hey, Romeo.
- 41:39When I first became a mom, there was time when
- 41:41we was all low on funds. All we had for
- 41:45All we had was a few hamburger patties. But hatos
- 41:49and some canned corn made it into a fancy meal.
- 41:52That's what I told my kids, now that they are
- 41:56all teens, that's their favorite meal. That's pretty funny. That's
- 42:00right already four two, five, four, seven to seven. So
- 42:03we're talking about struggling, right, What kind of broke meals
- 42:07did you have? What kind of broke food did you like?
- 42:09What was your favorite? One yo Romeo, my favorite steak
- 42:14and pasta hamburger, patty and top ramen. Okay, I mean
- 42:19that sounds like a good one. I couldn't even afford hamburger.
- 42:23Then a roam a syrup sandwich with the bread toasted
- 42:26at the bottom of the oven. Okay, okay, all right,
- 42:32what you got here? Some of these things, you guys
- 42:33are text being on what they are? My poor meal.
- 42:36My mom would make white rice and a can of
- 42:39oysters or sardines. I still get a can every once
- 42:44in a while, oysters and sardines. I used to make
- 42:49white rice and pour a can of chili beans over
- 42:52it and would eat it, eat it with salting crackers.
- 42:57That was I think that was probably what I the most.
- 43:00I like the best already four two five, four seven seven.
- 43:03I will tell you what we did though, when we
- 43:05were in college and we couldn't afford to go out
- 43:10to eat because we were broke, and we didn't have
- 43:15our parents in college. In college, I didn't really have
- 43:18my parents there to pay for anything. I went to college.
- 43:22My parents still lived on the reservation, and you didn't
- 43:25have bevmo or. I mean, you didn't memo, you didn't
- 43:28have venmo or, you didn't have anything like Apple pay.
- 43:32You didn't have a way to get your kids money.
- 43:35You had to actually mail them money. Okay, that's how
- 43:40that worked. Put a stamp on it and send them
- 43:44money on yeah, or a bank. You know, you could
- 43:49go to the bank. But you know, but that wasn't
- 43:54very easy because we didn't have a lot of banks
- 43:56on the reservation that I banked with in college, so
- 43:59that was very foot goal. So when we were what
- 44:04we would do is we used to call Taco Bell
- 44:08and we would tell them we just came through the
- 44:10drive through and we, uh, you forgot are whatever we
- 44:16wanted to eat, right, It wasn't You couldn't ask for
- 44:19a lot. You'd have to say, oh, you forgot my
- 44:21bean breed on my taco or you forgot my nacho
- 44:23or whatever. You couldn't ask for a lot because then
- 44:25they get suspicious. But that and they would just take
- 44:30your name down and say, okay, well the next time
- 44:32you come back by just uh, just we have your
- 44:36name down and you can get what we forgot or
- 44:38if you want to come back or and we would
- 44:41just go go down and get it. I mean it
- 44:45worked for a while. After I don't know, a couple
- 44:48of years in Taco bell started to get wise and
- 44:51they wanted to see your receipt. But at first, when first,
- 44:54when we first started doing it, they didn't care about
- 44:56your receipt. So but they caught on. I guess it
- 44:59might been a big scam. Maybe they figured it out.
- 45:01But yeah, that's how we That's how we would go
- 45:04out to eat when we were poor. You know, sometimes
- 45:10you just never know what you're gonna get unless you
- 45:13ask for it. And I'm gonna tell you this story
- 45:16came out years years ago, but I'm gonna tell you
- 45:18a couple of instances that it worked with me. This
- 45:22story came out years ago. Some actor was gonna leave
- 45:26his wife and he told his wife. He goes, look,
- 45:28I want to have an open relationship or I want
- 45:32to be a swinging It was something like that, right,
- 45:34and he said, he asked her, we can have this
- 45:38type of relationship or you know, we can get divorced
- 45:41if you if you don't want to, and she said yes.
- 45:46So I don't know, I can't remember the actor's name
- 45:49it was. It might've been one of the guys from Scrubs.
- 45:51I just but it got me to thinking about asking
- 45:55for something, because it's happened to me a few times.
- 45:58You just you think you don't know what you're gonna
- 46:01get until you ask. When during Christmas time, I had
- 46:06bought some shoes as a Christmas gift, well, the shoes
- 46:11never showed up. Actually, what happened was somebody unlocked the
- 46:15box at the mailbox that the shoes were in and
- 46:17took them right and I didn't know what to do,
- 46:23so I thought, well, you know what, let me just
- 46:25call Nike and tell them what happened. I called Nike,
- 46:30I you know, I ordered these shoes. They looked them up.
- 46:34I said, I never got them because somebody took them.
- 46:39And the late what do you think Nike was gonna say?
- 46:43Anybody guess the same thing. Everybody thought Nike was gonna
- 46:47say when I told them I was gonna do it,
- 46:50and Nike immediately said, don't worry about it. This is
- 46:54what you ordered. We'll send you a new pair right away,
- 46:58so you get them before Christmas and you can give
- 47:00them away as the gift that I bought them for.
- 47:03Literally like that, I bet every one of you listening
- 47:06right now thought, that's a stupid thing to do. You're
- 47:10not gonna like, why would you call Mike. You know
- 47:12they're going to say, no, gett you know that's on you. No,
- 47:16they didn't.
- 47:17Speaker 5: But I asked.
- 47:20Speaker 1: For those of you that don't know. You know, I
- 47:22play a lot of golf, a lot of goo, and
- 47:25there's these things called rangefinders. I don't know if you
- 47:27know what they look like. They're, you know, these little
- 47:29handheld devices. For you guys that hunt, you'll know what
- 47:32a Bushnell range finder is. For those of you guys
- 47:34that hunt engage distances, It's just a rangefinder tell you
- 47:38how far stuff is. And they're kind of expensive. Some
- 47:41of them are expensive. Some of them aren't never had
- 47:44one before. Walked into the golf shop at a golf
- 47:48course and said, hey, never had a rangefinder before? Do
- 47:51they work? Guy goes, yeah, they work pretty good. Why
- 47:55he goes, well, I'd like to have one, And I said, anyway,
- 47:59you guys got an extra one, just like that guy
- 48:05at the golf Counder goes, yes, we got a ton
- 48:07of nobody. People leave them here all the time, They
- 48:09lose them on the golf course. They get turned in.
- 48:11They people never come and pick them up. He goes,
- 48:14So here have one. But you never know what you're
- 48:17gonna get until you ask somebody. Right, has that ever
- 48:22happened to you? You ever just asked and got something
- 48:24you never thought would happen already? Four two, five, four,
- 48:28seven to seven?
- 48:29Speaker 2: Hey, you that got me all wrong?
- 48:32Speaker 1: Got you? When I get you in?
- 48:33Speaker 2: You got me from my range Fine, that's the river because.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Atlanta. Man. Oh, that's hilarious by the way, on that
- 48:45for all you golfers out there, that range finder. That
- 48:49range finder. But when you just asked, I've had about
- 48:52eight of them. I've been to five six seven different
- 48:55golf courses. Few at the coast, few down south, a
- 48:58couple of beggers. You just asked, Man, they ain't coming
- 49:01back for those rainfinders, and they'll give you one that
- 49:03they've had. Well, I don't know if they will if
- 49:05you ask, But for me, they have. I've I've given
- 49:07some away to friends. Yeah, I've had them more than not.
- 49:10What's going on?
- 49:12Speaker 4: Good?
- 49:13Speaker 5: Besides, I'm the Queen of asking. Anytime you see bushful
- 49:19man or any.
- 49:21Speaker 6: Loading trucks with the doors, I always have to Hey,
- 49:26you guys got free samples, and sometimes they hook it up.
- 49:29Speaker 2: And sometimes they're like, oh man, not today.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Well, when you see a truck delivering at the store,
- 49:35you can ask for a free sample.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 49:44Speaker 6: The like the monster truck yees Anheuser Bush, I've gotten
- 49:47bottle openers.
- 49:48Speaker 5: I got no koozies.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I'm about to try that.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I had no idea never occurred to me to ask, yes, yes, there.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That's awesome, that's awesome. Thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
- 50:04Speaker 3: A good one who knew right.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Like I said, man, and just ask. You never know
- 50:10what you're gonna get until you ask somebody, right, And
- 50:14sometimes you asked nice enough? Now hook you up alrighty
- 50:17four two five, four seven to seven. Hey, Rome, check
- 50:20this out. One time I was being cute and I
- 50:25came home and I asked my wife if we could
- 50:27have a threesome. Now I was just joking. My wife said,
- 50:33uh oh. My wife said, oh, that would be fine.
- 50:36I even know somebody. I was so freaked out when
- 50:41she's a way Rome. I still don't know to this
- 50:44day if she was joking with me or if she
- 50:47was serious. I was too afraid to follow up, so
- 50:50I just told her I was joking and moved on.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Well, sometimes sometimes when you ask, you don't want to
- 50:57know the answer right my day, ever, know, you never
- 51:02know until you asked somebody. You better ask somebody.
- 51:06Speaker 3: How you doing, buddy, I'm great, brother.
- 51:08Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 51:09Speaker 4: I just wanted to see how you're doing.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Hopefully you're having a great day. And I'm just going
- 51:13to say, because I could have some movie tickets or something.
- 51:19Speaker 1: You know, what's funny, I usually do, but I don't
- 51:21have any right now. I would actually give you some
- 51:24of that. I don't have any right now. Sorry, man,
- 51:30all right, and I give everything. Well, you know it's funny.
- 51:34One time I was down in what was I checking
- 51:39out the gene Autry Museum or I was somewhere and
- 51:43I wanted to uh, I wanted to go check out
- 51:47the La Zoo because I had never been there before.
- 51:49And so this radio station k R was just I
- 51:54don't know what they were doing the remote. They were
- 51:55doing a remote somewhere and I don't remember why they
- 52:01were out there, but I just rolled up and said, hey, ya, guys,
- 52:05you got any tickets for the for the zoo? I
- 52:07want to go check it out today. They're like, yeah, sure,
- 52:10here you go. Would you mind taking a picture for
- 52:12the you know, for the for the for the website
- 52:14or whatever. I said, no problem, I said, so I
- 52:18got me some free tickets to the zoo. Went to
- 52:19the zoo. But yeah, you just never know, you know,
- 52:24until you ask somebody. All right, all righty four two, five,
- 52:27four or seven. But to be honest with you, I
- 52:29am I am really easy about giving stuff away. Uh
- 52:36Shay row Hey, uf and Cheese fan. I'm asking if
- 52:39you can give me Mac and Cheese tickets. I don't
- 52:42have any. I Uh, the guys here at the station,
- 52:48my bosses don't like me because I did. I give
- 52:51everything away. I don't make you guys work for it.
- 52:52I don't do a whole lot. I mean, every once
- 52:54in a while we'll do some fun games and stuff.
- 52:56But I give everything away, and if I have it,
- 52:59I would give it to you because I I don't care.
- 53:00But yeah, I don't have any Mac and Cheese Fest tickets.
- 53:03You're gonna have to go buy those already. Four two, four,
- 53:06seven to seven, Biggersville Macacheesefest dot com.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Hey Romeo, I hope you're having a great day.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Always having a great Day's good?
- 53:14Speaker 2: You got any Church Holker tickets?
- 53:16Speaker 1: Now?
- 53:17Speaker 4: How thought I said you'd like to gift step away?
- 53:20Speaker 3: Oh?
- 53:20Speaker 1: I can't give something I don't have.
- 53:22Speaker 4: The only time Rider David got any teens from you
- 53:25was when I had to go bowl with the big
- 53:26old turkey in the rain.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you, bro cold on Loo.
- 53:31Speaker 5: What do you got? You didn't got all tickets or nothing?
- 53:33Speaker 1: I got nothing?
- 53:35Speaker 4: All right, it's not kid.
- 53:36Speaker 2: I still hope you have a good day to you too.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Can give me something I don't have already? Fourteen five
- 53:41four seven seven? What did you send me here? Hey,
- 53:46good morning Romeo. I was hoping to get your advice
- 53:49on something. My husband and I just found out last
- 53:53night that our teenage daughter, who's graduating in high school
- 53:56this year, has decided she doesn't want to go to college.
- 54:00We're a little upset about it. Me and my husband
- 54:02are both college graduates, we've been college graduates, we've been
- 54:06saving money for college, planning this uh for her since
- 54:11she was born, and now she came and said that
- 54:14she doesn't want college. She'd like to go to work.
- 54:21So what's the problem. What's wrong with they're going to work.
- 54:23What's what is the problem about? I mean, I get
- 54:27I guess because you guys are college graduates, right. You
- 54:29want your kid, you know, your kid to follow you
- 54:32and your footsteps.
- 54:33Speaker 3: And but.
- 54:37Speaker 1: I don't know what you I don't know what you're
- 54:39asking me. I don't I have told you this before,
- 54:43and I'll tell you this again. I believe that these
- 54:47high school counselors. And I don't know if I don't
- 54:51know if this has changed in high school. But when
- 54:53I was in high school, the counselors were I don't
- 54:59want to say they we're wrong, but they pushed everybody
- 55:02to go to college. Everybody to go to college. And
- 55:05there's some people that just don't don't succeed in college.
- 55:08It's not for them. Some people. There's hundreds and thousands
- 55:13and millions of people who are very successful in this
- 55:16world that never went to college. They just have a
- 55:19different path. But when I was in high school, it
- 55:21was all about college, all about college. So what does
- 55:27she want to do? Help her out? You know, I
- 55:30don't know what to I don't know what to tell you.
- 55:32I think everybody has a different path than life. I
- 55:34don't think college is for everybody, and I think your
- 55:37daughter could be very successful without going to college. You
- 55:41just she's got to find her she's got to find
- 55:43what she wants to do.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:44Speaker 1: So, I don't know if you guys are mad about it.
- 55:48Kind of sounds like you're a little bitter. That's why
- 55:50you texted me. But instead of being bitter and mad
- 55:53about it, you might want to just help her out
- 55:55and figure out how she's going to afford a life,
- 56:00because that's all it really comes down to. That's all
- 56:03it really comes down to, is how are you going
- 56:06to afford a life? Okay, and whatever life you want
- 56:12to lead, how are you going to afford it? Because
- 56:15you can do it with or without college, right, Because
- 56:18that's really what it came. I didn't want to go
- 56:19to college. I was just going to go work for
- 56:21the state like my parents did. But I couldn't get
- 56:25a job of the state. So I went to college
- 56:27while I waited to try to get a job. And
- 56:29it turns out I never got the job. I got
- 56:31the college degrees. So it just depends, you know, I mean,
- 56:35what if she wanted you should be more focused on
- 56:38helping her find what she wants to do. With her
- 56:41life to be able to take care of herself and
- 56:45going from there. And it sounds like you've been saving
- 56:47money for college.
- 56:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 56:49Speaker 1: It sounds like you got a little extra cash for
- 56:51her since you're not going to spend it on college.
- 56:54I mean, maybe you, you know, use it to help
- 56:57her out. I'm just saying, already pour two five, four
- 57:02or seven to seven. Uh, some parents just sent me
- 57:06a text message talking about their daughter, Uh doesn't want
- 57:09to go to college, right, I guess their college graduates. Uh.
- 57:13They were hoping she would go to college and been
- 57:15saving since she was born for college her to go
- 57:18to college, and she decided she doesn't want to go.
- 57:21They were asked me about it. I think you just
- 57:24support her and try to figure out how she's going
- 57:26to make a living, because really, that's all we're doing
- 57:28in this world, right is trying to make a living
- 57:30and live a good life. Whether you do it with
- 57:32or without college doesn't really matter. There are plenty of
- 57:35successful people right here in Bakersfield who never went to college. Right,
- 57:39So already four two five, four, seven to seven. Hey, Romeo,
- 57:45I just want to agree with you about the college thing.
- 57:49My husband made our daughter go to college because she
- 57:53didn't know what she wanted to do. And that's where
- 57:56he went to and that's what he did. He Oh,
- 57:58he went to college. Right, she ended up dropping out
- 58:01after two years. And how much money we wasted and
- 58:07how much money we still owed when she dropped out.
- 58:10It was ridiculous. So I don't disagree with that, but
- 58:14you are right. A girl needs to find out what
- 58:16she's going to do or how she's going to make
- 58:18money and survive. Yeah, but you can't know at eighteen nineteen,
- 58:23when you graduate high school eighteen nineteen, you can't tell
- 58:26some kid, oh, this is what you're supposed to do.
- 58:28I mean, they don't know what they want to do,
- 58:31you know, but at least they know. If they know
- 58:33they don't want to go to college, then you know what,
- 58:35help them out, be on their side, figure it out together,
- 58:39all right? Eight four two, five, four, seven to seven?
- 58:44What did you send me here? Ay? Yo? Rome, I
- 58:48didn't go to college and I'm doing pretty well for myself.
- 58:51I'm a mechanic, went to a trade school. Yeah, that's
- 58:54still kind of a version of a college. So I
- 58:56get it. Yeah, No, college isn't for everybody. I mean,
- 59:00you just You can't force something on somebody that they
- 59:03don't want to do, and it just makes it worse.
- 59:06Just help them figure out how they're gonna make money.
- 59:10You'd be much better off, all right. Eight four two, five,
- 59:12four seven to seven. Hey Romeo, about the girl that
- 59:16told her parents she doesn't want to go to college.
- 59:20That happened to me. I was so upset that my
- 59:23daughter wasn't to wasn't gonna go to college. I had
- 59:26no idea what she was gonna do. She ended up
- 59:29just getting a job as a cashier for a while,
- 59:33and then she became the manager. Now she seems to
- 59:36do pretty well for herself for where she for the
- 59:39place that she works. I don't want to say anything.
- 59:41Then she got married and married a guy who didn't
- 59:45have a college education. He was actually a welder. He
- 59:49makes really good money. Now they have a great family.
- 59:53They're doing very well for themselves. They actually live in
- 59:56a bigger house than I do, and I'm a college graduate.
- 1:00:00So don't discount when these kids don't really know what
- 1:00:04they're doing, or maybe they have a plan that we
- 1:00:07as parents just don't understand. It worked out for my
- 1:00:12kid pretty well. She got a great husband, I got
- 1:00:15great grandkids and they live really well. Right now, Well,
- 1:00:19does she still have the cashier job? What does she do?
- 1:00:23She's just a stay at home mom. Now, by the way,
- 1:00:27a stay at home mom can be a job. I'm
- 1:00:30just saying, could be a really good job. Actually, well,
- 1:00:33what did you send me here? Yo?
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: Roam.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Millions of kids in college didn't want to go or
- 1:00:38didn't know what to major in. Yet they graduated and
- 1:00:44have jobs that pay enough to support themselves. Now, in life,
- 1:00:48we all have to do things we don't want to.
- 1:00:52The parents should have taught her that instead of allowing
- 1:00:55her to have a way out. What happens when she
- 1:00:58has a job and doesn't want doesn't want to go.
- 1:01:02It would be different if the daughter already had a plan.
- 1:01:05But she doesn't, and she's starting adulthood as a quitter. No,
- 1:01:09she's not, because she never started college to begin with.
- 1:01:11She's eighteen years old. I think I'm just assuming that's
- 1:01:15her age and when she hasn't even started going to
- 1:01:19end up pregnant and on food stamps. Yeah, I don't
- 1:01:22think so. I think you're being a little negative for
- 1:01:26some reason about that. And I know if so many
- 1:01:30college students are doing great. Why are they all in debt?
- 1:01:33Why is there such a major problem in the US.
- 1:01:37They're always arguing about the debt they can't pay back.
- 1:01:41I know doctors in LA that have to live with
- 1:01:43their mother, with their parents because they can't afford to
- 1:01:47live on their own and handle their school debts. So
- 1:01:52we have totally different experiences, by the way, and so
- 1:01:56I don't agree with what you're saying. I don't agree
- 1:01:59with what you're saying. And help her find a job,
- 1:02:01help her get it on. Nobody said. The parents didn't
- 1:02:05say that she didn't want a job. The parents said
- 1:02:08she didn't want to go to college. You don't need
- 1:02:11to go to college to find a job. You don't
- 1:02:12need to go to college to be successful. You know,
- 1:02:15I have two college degrees, and some of my friends
- 1:02:19who didn't go to college are far more successful than
- 1:02:21I am, make far more money than I do. So
- 1:02:25you might want to reevaluate. I just think we have
- 1:02:27different experiences in life, and I don't know what yours is.
