- 0:00Speaker 1: What to do.
- 0:01Speaker 2: We're back again. The Grounded showed the ball.
- 0:05Speaker 1: You heard me, yo, episode number.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Episode I think one forty one. I believe I might
- 0:11Speaker 2: be incorrect. It might be one forty two. I know
- 0:14Speaker 2: we passed the one forty though.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, we don't even keep it count because we're
- 0:18Speaker 1: gonna get to nine hundred and foul.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You feel me, You feel me? Hey, man, We about
- 0:24Speaker 2: to get it jumping with these events. Man, we've been
- 0:26Speaker 2: talking about it for a little bit. We about to
- 0:28Speaker 2: put out some hard dates soon. You heard me.
- 0:31Speaker 1: They were actually preparing for them now.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah, facts, facts, We was getting the details right and
- 0:36Speaker 2: now we ready to go. So definitely keep a lookout
- 0:40Speaker 2: for that. But man, we're gonna jump right into it
- 0:43Speaker 2: because something that I had sent you throughout the week
- 0:46Speaker 2: that just jumped at me when I was scrolling through
- 0:49Speaker 2: TikTok was Larrussell. Man. L Russell just recently been doing
- 0:54Speaker 2: his rounds because he just signed that deal with Rock Nation.
- 0:57Speaker 2: He has that project that he's trying to sell I
- 0:59Speaker 2: think a hundred thousand units in pre orders before he
- 1:03Speaker 2: even drops it. So basically he's just trying to show
- 1:07Speaker 2: the power of like being an independent artist and kind
- 1:11Speaker 2: of putting the world on notice on what kind of
- 1:14Speaker 2: like fan base he has and how he's grinded and everything.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So the story with him is pretty cool. But the
- 1:21Speaker 2: one detail that he said that really really caught me
- 1:26Speaker 2: was the Lil Wayne peace Man.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29Speaker 2: He had a video where he's basically talking about Lil
- 1:33Speaker 2: Wayne never really did anything musically to him that was
- 1:39Speaker 2: like an actual good thing for like, let's say, the
- 1:43Speaker 2: community or the people that he's serving, you know what
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean, Like it's the fan base. He was basically
- 1:49Speaker 2: saying that a lot of the music was, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 2: glorifying the wrong thing. There was not a lot of
- 1:56Speaker 2: music outside of tie my Hands, which is that song
- 1:59Speaker 2: that he did about Hurricane Katrina.
- 2:01Speaker 1: That's really deep for the community.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And it's kind of crazy because like it was kind
- 2:05Speaker 2: of introspective the way he talked about it, because he
- 2:08Speaker 2: was talking about it really from the point of view
- 2:10Speaker 2: of he was a huge fan and he was super
- 2:13Speaker 2: locked in with Lil Wayne, And I not saying that
- 2:15Speaker 2: he's not a fan anymore, but he was just saying
- 2:17Speaker 2: how he even realized, like dang, this dude really ain't
- 2:20Speaker 2: saying nothing, you know, what I mean, like, even as
- 2:22Speaker 2: being a fan.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So I definitely agree to him to some extent, but
- 2:28Speaker 1: I also want to take into account how long Wayne's
- 2:30Speaker 1: been doing this, you know what I'm saying, And how
- 2:36Speaker 1: was he thirteen fourteen, maybe the preteen Yeah, and a
- 2:39Speaker 1: lot of their introduction with cash Money was New Orleans,
- 2:47Speaker 1: So I don't know. Does the longevity of what he's
- 2:51Speaker 1: done play a factor of why maybe he thinks he's
- 2:56Speaker 1: done enough for that anymore.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I think kind of the way I interpret what Loa
- 3:00Speaker 2: Russell was saying is like Lil Wayne, the the substance
- 3:06Speaker 2: is not really there with the music sat there. He's
- 3:09Speaker 2: a great rapper. And then when I thought about it,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I'm like, and it's funny, man, because it made me
- 3:13Speaker 2: think about something Jarry's always said. Jarry always says like
- 3:18Speaker 2: he don't hold Lil Wayne on that same pedestal that
- 3:21Speaker 2: a lot of people have him on, and it's kind
- 3:23Speaker 2: of the same reason, you know what I mean. But me,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I understand that, but I'm still a big Lil Wayne
- 3:29Speaker 2: fan growing up. Like, it's funny even saying it from
- 3:32Speaker 2: the point of view of like, when I like Lil Wayne,
- 3:34Speaker 2: nobody liked low Wayne, because it's like you're talking about
- 3:36Speaker 2: it was when he was really coming up, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 2: younger Low Wayne, cash Money era Low Wayne. It still
- 3:41Speaker 2: had that real Southern sound, so everybody wasn't really tapped
- 3:45Speaker 2: into it.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Everything was New Orleans style.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Facts and like, shout out to my boy Jeremy Man.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He was one of my homies in one where me
- 3:52Speaker 2: and him was like the only ones that really rock
- 3:54Speaker 2: with Low Wayne before Quincy moved in the neighborhood because
- 3:57Speaker 2: he was from New Orleans.
- 3:57Speaker 1: So he rocked with Quincy Be or me.
- 4:01Speaker 2: But yeah, when I thought about it, though, I'm like, bro,
- 4:05Speaker 2: Wayne really don't be saying nothing. He just manipulates the
- 4:10Speaker 2: words in such a way that you appreciate him as
- 4:13Speaker 2: an artist and as a rapper, like, bro, the way
- 4:16Speaker 2: that he's putting together these lines and the punch lines
- 4:19Speaker 2: and stuff. But then it made me think of this, Bro,
- 4:23Speaker 2: is he really that good when all he's really doing
- 4:27Speaker 2: is just writing from any perspective because all his music
- 4:32Speaker 2: is just random, like a lot of it doesn't even
- 4:36Speaker 2: have any value to us. So he's really rapping about,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know, kind of like the dumbest thing. So it's
- 4:42Speaker 2: like when you're really opening your palette to like being
- 4:45Speaker 2: able to say anything. Really, is it really like you're
- 4:49Speaker 2: that much better than everybody? You know what I mean?
- 4:52Speaker 2: Like just being Devil's advocate.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's tough. It's tough. It's tough being a Wayne fan. Like,
- 5:01Speaker 1: outside of all the projects, which ones meant the most
- 5:05Speaker 1: out of his project in your opinion, what was the
- 5:07Speaker 1: most important series of his project?
- 5:09Speaker 2: So I will answer that for sure, but I want
- 5:12Speaker 2: to preface it by saying this, I feel like all
- 5:15Speaker 2: this also is like unfairly happening to Lil Wayne. Yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 2: that's what I'm trying to He didn't even get like,
- 5:22Speaker 2: he didn't get the Super Bowl thing. So ever since then,
- 5:26Speaker 2: the whole thing about Lil Wayne has been like he
- 5:28Speaker 2: don't get no respect. So like people are just like
- 5:31Speaker 2: kind of like attaching to that angle and like that's
- 5:35Speaker 2: the story of him right now now having said that,
- 5:38Speaker 2: for me, it's the Carter one.
- 5:40Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm saying. What series the Carters?
- 5:43Speaker 2: The Carter For sure, the Carter Carter, Carter one and
- 5:46Speaker 2: three y are probably my favorite. But one is the.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Carters should be his elite out of everything, the Carters,
- 5:53Speaker 1: Like when is the Carter dropping that is something that's anticipated.
- 5:57Speaker 2: He wrapped his ass off on all the Carters.
- 6:00Speaker 1: With this Carter six. That was terrible to me, Yo.
- 6:04Speaker 2: The Carter six was a tough listen.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I felt like it was something that he listened
- 6:11Speaker 1: to what's out there. He took all the features that
- 6:13Speaker 1: he was on that he did well with, and he
- 6:17Speaker 1: just dropped a song that sounded like it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it was one of those things where you really
- 6:23Speaker 2: artists and this is kind of like a thing I
- 6:25Speaker 2: have with Fabulous too, man, Like, there's certain artists that
- 6:28Speaker 2: when you put them in a space where you're like, yo,
- 6:30Speaker 2: just create something timeless, they really can't give.
- 6:35Speaker 1: It to you.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Which that's not even a knock because bro, like, only
- 6:40Speaker 2: a few artists in the history of music period have
- 6:43Speaker 2: that sound, you know what I'm saying. So it's not
- 6:45Speaker 2: even it sounds harsh, but it's like with music, bro,
- 6:49Speaker 2: it's one of those things. And I heard this in
- 6:51Speaker 2: Comedians and Cars getting coffee, like they compared it to
- 6:54Speaker 2: like cigars. Like comedians cigars and music is one of
- 6:59Speaker 2: those things that like, when you want to enjoy it,
- 7:02Speaker 2: you want to enjoy it in the highest form. You
- 7:04Speaker 2: don't want an Okay cigar, You want the Cuban cigar,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 7:09Speaker 1: The best cup of coffee.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Exactly, You want the best cup of coffee. You want
- 7:13Speaker 2: to go watch you know, you want to spend two
- 7:15Speaker 2: hundred to see Kevin Hart. You don't want to see
- 7:17Speaker 2: the local comedian, you know what I mean. So it's
- 7:20Speaker 2: like I get that part of music, but I also
- 7:24Speaker 2: understand how hard that is, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And for me, Lil Wayne is just one of those
- 7:30Speaker 2: where he's just a super dope rapper and as far
- 7:35Speaker 2: as just like the rapping part of it, he mastered
- 7:38Speaker 2: it because he raps in a way where like him
- 7:41Speaker 2: doing these punchlines and playing with the flow the way
- 7:43Speaker 2: he does it comes off dope. Like when Lil Wayne
- 7:47Speaker 2: does it as dope, when a lot of other rappers
- 7:49Speaker 2: do it, you're like, dang, they're trying to do too much,
- 7:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So he found that balance
- 7:53Speaker 2: of like I'm still rapping, but people vibe with it,
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And that's like I feel about Carter six, Like the
- 8:02Speaker 1: way he's still maneuvers around his lyrics and he's rapping.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It's something pretty much. Wayne is one of the only
- 8:09Speaker 1: few artists that can do it, and he's still good
- 8:11Speaker 1: at it. But what is what is he even saying?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Like he's not even he's doing it well, but he's
- 8:16Speaker 1: just regurgitating a bunch of stuff that he's probably aready
- 8:19Speaker 1: rapped about that it's.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Just it's just manipulating vocabulary.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Which, like I said, he's still good at he's still
- 8:26Speaker 1: one of the best at it. But I would put
- 8:28Speaker 1: eminem in the same thing. Why people like what is
- 8:30Speaker 1: he doesn't even rap about much anymore? But he's still
- 8:33Speaker 1: good lyricists that can flip words and rhymes and the
- 8:36Speaker 1: cadence and the vowel sounds and all of that. He's
- 8:39Speaker 1: still really good at rapping as a lyricist. But what
- 8:43Speaker 1: he's not even that you're not even saying nothing.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And it's like listening to rap for like the phase
- 8:49Speaker 2: value of the rap is something you grow out of.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 8:53Speaker 2: most people, that's something that when you're a teenager in
- 8:56Speaker 2: your early twenties, like when you got the real like
- 8:59Speaker 2: you got the time for it. That's when you're really
- 9:01Speaker 2: listening and stuff, and like judging the lyrical ability and
- 9:04Speaker 2: what they're saying. And it's kind of like the same
- 9:07Speaker 2: thing with like the J Cole album, Like he dropped
- 9:10Speaker 2: that album, he dropped the freestyles before and the freestyles
- 9:13Speaker 2: I wasn't impressed because it's the same kind of thing
- 9:14Speaker 2: we talked about with Wayne, Like I know you're good
- 9:17Speaker 2: at playing with the words, you know what I'm saying,
- 9:20Speaker 2: Like that's not You're not gonna do that, and I'm
- 9:23Speaker 2: gonna be like, oh my gosh, like he's you know,
- 9:26Speaker 2: he got new punchlines. Like I'm past that, bro, Like
- 9:29Speaker 2: I'm trying to hear like like I was really looking
- 9:32Speaker 2: forward to the album, you know what I mean. But
- 9:35Speaker 2: even the album is something that I haven't really had
- 9:37Speaker 2: a chance to really dive into it.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I haven't heard it an hour.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And forty one minutes, bro, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And it started, like you said, it started with that
- 9:43Speaker 1: country John and I was like.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, broh that when that little country song started
- 9:48Speaker 2: the intro that was like I let it run for
- 9:51Speaker 2: like thirty seconds. I skimmed through it and make sure
- 9:53Speaker 2: I wasn't missing like a long intro or something. And
- 9:56Speaker 2: when I realized it was just that I played the
- 9:58Speaker 2: second song. I don't even really remember it and I
- 10:00Speaker 2: haven't gotten back to it since Bro exactly. And I'm
- 10:02Speaker 2: not even like a person that doesn't like J Cole.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm like either way on him, Like early J cole
- 10:09Speaker 2: where people was like yo, he was the man that
- 10:12Speaker 2: wasn't my era, Like I was like still listening to
- 10:15Speaker 2: other stuff, and I wasn't really I wasn't one of those.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I was like two into like chance to rapper J Cole, Bob,
- 10:23Speaker 2: like that era, like the new school that came in,
- 10:26Speaker 2: but that specific lineup, yeah, exactly, that specific lineup. It
- 10:30Speaker 2: was like this is cool. But you know, I like
- 10:33Speaker 2: what J cole like matured into like twenty fourteen for
- 10:36Speaker 2: so yeah, that's my favorite, know what I mean? Like
- 10:39Speaker 2: that that, you know, so a good amount of Born Center.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yet kod Kod was a dope one. There was like
- 10:47Speaker 2: that stretch where I was like, yo, yeah, all this
- 10:49Speaker 2: J Cole is dope, you know. I mean, yeah, Born
- 10:50Speaker 2: Center's still but I would say I'm like fifty fifty
- 10:53Speaker 2: on his library, you know what i mean. So I'm
- 10:57Speaker 2: not saying that the New Joint is bad. It's just
- 10:59Speaker 2: i haven't had the time to like really dive into
- 11:02Speaker 2: it in a way where I'm like, all right, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 2: I mean I look at it like this too. Man
- 11:06Speaker 2: Like even Michael Jackson, you know Thriller, he gave you
- 11:09Speaker 2: nine songs, bro, Like, I remember if it was eight
- 11:12Speaker 2: or nine, but it was like, not that many songs, dog, Like,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you don't need to a certain point. Man Like Chris
- 11:19Speaker 2: Brown did this a few years.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Ago to you know what I'm saying, his name was,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I was getting ready to show. But you know what
- 11:23Speaker 1: I mean, I was getting ready to show.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's exactly that, bro. Like I'm a huge Chris Brown fan.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But when you tell me you're dropping forty songs, I'm like, dang,
- 11:32Speaker 2: Like I don't even know what what took? You know,
- 11:35Speaker 2: what am I going to listen to? How do I
- 11:36Speaker 2: listen to these joints without like tiring my ear out?
- 11:41Speaker 2: Like how do you pick which? You know what I'm saying,
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's like it's too much, bro.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And I think timing is everything. We are in, you know,
- 11:50Speaker 1: a climate where timing is everything as far as what
- 11:54Speaker 1: the state of the world is in or the state
- 11:57Speaker 1: of even our country and our you know, are day
- 12:00Speaker 1: to day where we live in what's important, And I
- 12:02Speaker 1: think like when you got stuff like ice and all
- 12:09Speaker 1: this other stuff going, I feel like rappers take advantage
- 12:12Speaker 1: to drop some deep thoughtful ship. Yeah, you know.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And it's crazy, man, because like even my son has
- 12:18Speaker 2: been asking me stuff about like political things and the
- 12:21Speaker 2: ice thing.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm trying to watch so we don't give a blacklisted.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, even he's mentioned like little things that people have
- 12:27Speaker 2: told him at school, you know what I'm saying. And
- 12:29Speaker 2: it's crazy, man, even like everything that went down with
- 12:33Speaker 2: the super Bowl, you know, and how like polarizing that
- 12:36Speaker 2: thing was even leading into like the All Star weekend.
- 12:41Speaker 2: You know, Like the NBA has looked at as like
- 12:45Speaker 2: a left leaning league, So there's a certain energy from
- 12:50Speaker 2: a crowd because they're looking they're not they're not taking
- 12:53Speaker 2: it as basketball, They're taking it as like, oh, these
- 12:56Speaker 2: are people with a viewpoint. So I'm already pissed, you
- 12:59Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So, like the NBA has been
- 13:02Speaker 2: like in this weird space, especially since like the Bubble year,
- 13:05Speaker 2: and they really really really got into a lot of
- 13:08Speaker 2: like political activism and stuff. And I'm not saying anything
- 13:12Speaker 2: about it specifically either way, like you know, forward against
- 13:15Speaker 2: it whatever. I'm just saying, that happened, and they pretty
- 13:19Speaker 2: much put a target on their back from like another crowd,
- 13:23Speaker 2: the people that are not with the kind of stuff
- 13:25Speaker 2: the NBA is with, and it's been like this little
- 13:27Speaker 2: weird kind of mainstream energy for the NBA.
- 13:30Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that on networks, there's a
- 13:32Speaker 1: lot of people that control the media, and that's why
- 13:35Speaker 1: this is the last year that the Super Bowls on NBC.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yep is shifting the ESPN for the first time.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Even like the NFL, like the number has been going up,
- 13:44Speaker 2: the NBA number has been declining, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:47Speaker 2: And one of the things that they're you know, trying
- 13:51Speaker 2: to kind of move towards is like bringing the fun
- 13:55Speaker 2: back of All Star Weekend, you know what I mean.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Like they're trying to kind of figure out what's going
- 13:59Speaker 2: on with the tanking situation, what's going on with uh,
- 14:04Speaker 2: you know, just having more competitive regular season. You know,
- 14:08Speaker 2: like as an NBA fan, you get to a point
- 14:11Speaker 2: you've watched so much NBA that you already know, like,
- 14:14Speaker 2: I'm not going to dedicate my time watching these games
- 14:16Speaker 2: when I see that they're not even trying, Like you're
- 14:20Speaker 2: sitting guys that are that are healthy, you know, the
- 14:23Speaker 2: guys that are playing, they're not giving it. They're all
- 14:25Speaker 2: because it's like, yo, you know, we don't necessarily need
- 14:28Speaker 2: to win this game. You know they're not. It is
- 14:32Speaker 2: and I'm not saying that the players are at fault
- 14:36Speaker 2: because I feel like, man, eighty two games, that's a
- 14:38Speaker 2: lot of games, Like that's an insane amount of traveling,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and with the pace that the NBA is now, like
- 14:45Speaker 2: that's one thing from back back in the day till now,
- 14:48Speaker 2: like they're not they weren't covering as much ground as
- 14:51Speaker 2: they are now. It's not even like an opinion, it's
- 14:53Speaker 2: a fact. Like they're running a lot more in the
- 14:55Speaker 2: NBA game now than they were before. So obviously they're
- 14:58Speaker 2: going to get hurt more. So you either got to
- 15:00Speaker 2: sold the pace of the game back down or you
- 15:03Speaker 2: got to reduce the amount of regular season games. But
- 15:05Speaker 2: the thing with the regular season games is they don't
- 15:08Speaker 2: want to lose that revenue because if you're going from
- 15:11Speaker 2: let's say eighty two games to what I think will
- 15:13Speaker 2: be perfect is like maybe like forty eight games. That's
- 15:17Speaker 2: a stretch because I don't think that will go down
- 15:19Speaker 2: that much, you know what I mean. But like if
- 15:20Speaker 2: they let's say they go down to like sixty cut
- 15:23Speaker 2: out twenty two.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Games, they'll make a big difference twenty.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Two games thirty teams. You know how much money they're
- 15:29Speaker 2: missing out on with that, bro, But my argument is
- 15:33Speaker 2: how much money will they be gaining By making the
- 15:36Speaker 2: game more must see and having more out You're.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Gonna players back who want to And honestly, that's what
- 15:43Speaker 1: I feel like the All Star weekend as has turned
- 15:46Speaker 1: into like award shows in the music industry. Like I
- 15:50Speaker 1: feel like a lot of artists like this thing for us, Yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 1: they don't care, Like this is for y'all, this thing
- 15:55Speaker 1: for us. We do not care about this stuff. And
- 15:59Speaker 1: there's because of the reason, because of the way you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: the league is, and like they're like, well, if we could,
- 16:04Speaker 1: if we could have a week and a half off,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I'm taking it enough that you're doing to make me
- 16:09Speaker 1: want to do this.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And even bringing the parallel to the like the
- 16:11Speaker 2: Grammy thing, it's like the Grammys, they don't pay you
- 16:14Speaker 2: to go out there, they don't pay you to perform.
- 16:16Speaker 2: It's like you're doing all that on your own dime,
- 16:19Speaker 2: and it's like if you're you know, if you gotta
- 16:21Speaker 2: like that, you gotta like that. But even some people
- 16:23Speaker 2: that got it like that, they still don't want to
- 16:25Speaker 2: go through all the trouble of doing all this stuff
- 16:27Speaker 2: for something that you're basically doing.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And the people that are voting are voting for people
- 16:31Speaker 1: who like, nobody agrees.
- 16:33Speaker 2: That you don't want to spend one hundred g's to
- 16:34Speaker 2: go out to Grammy weekend to get Kendrick Lamar when
- 16:38Speaker 2: when Maclamore beat him for Album of the Year, like,
- 16:41Speaker 2: imagine you spent fifty g's on that weekend for Maclamore
- 16:45Speaker 2: to beat you an album of the year like insane, bro.
- 16:48Speaker 2: But it's like one of those things will all start
- 16:50Speaker 2: weekend where like the players don't have the incentive and
- 16:54Speaker 2: they're all like, I don't want to get hurt. I
- 16:55Speaker 2: don't want to look stupid, so they're not even trying.
- 16:58Speaker 2: But it's All Star weekend, the All Star Game. I
- 17:02Speaker 2: won't say all start Saturday night. Oh no, no, yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I'm tripping. Yeah, your all start All Star Weekend. Trash yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 2: rash bro. The first of all, Like I'm confused, is
- 17:15Speaker 2: why Damian Lillard is even in the three point contest,
- 17:18Speaker 2: like he hasn't even played a game this year. Like
- 17:20Speaker 2: it just kind of like catches you off guard. Like,
- 17:23Speaker 2: first of all, isn't this like a reward to like
- 17:25Speaker 2: the players that have been shooting lights out during the season,
- 17:28Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like noting against Damian Lillard,
- 17:30Speaker 2: a great player, but it's like, bro, like the people
- 17:33Speaker 2: that have been grinding this season on the core, putting
- 17:35Speaker 2: up threes, those are the dudes that should you know
- 17:38Speaker 2: deep part of that, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And there are playing the shooters like that out there,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and then that was kind of crazy. The dunk contest
- 17:45Speaker 1: was cush.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Was insanely bad. Bro, Yo, I could have went and
- 17:50Speaker 2: did better layups. That's how bad it is.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Like when Darrel Lomstrong did that one lay up for
- 17:55Speaker 1: the dunk contest. Oh my god, Yeah no, that's what
- 17:59Speaker 1: I mean. Like you can't ain't get the people out
- 18:01Speaker 1: here like Anthony Edwards, John Moran, these people is in there,
- 18:07Speaker 1: nah yeah, but these people who are out there, I
- 18:10Speaker 1: think he is injured. Actually, the people who are out
- 18:12Speaker 1: there duncan like crazy like and you can't province them
- 18:16Speaker 1: to come out here.
- 18:16Speaker 2: The dunk contest has been just Wemby.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Bro. Imagine Wemby in a dread.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Up disrespectful the last like ten years.
- 18:22Speaker 1: That's why they had to get what's his name, the white.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Boy Macmon from the G League, and then he put
- 18:28Speaker 2: out his own video of like the dunks that would
- 18:30Speaker 2: have that would have won. Bro. Either get rid of
- 18:34Speaker 2: the dunk contest period and replace it with something else,
- 18:37Speaker 2: or like make good players be part of it, like
- 18:40Speaker 2: because or like make them have to like jump from
- 18:44Speaker 2: a certain line or you know what I mean, like
- 18:46Speaker 2: like change the way that the thing is played.
- 18:48Speaker 1: But it's like, but I also think like we need
- 18:50Speaker 1: like like like either you know, because Aunt said that
- 18:55Speaker 1: he gave the All Star week and everything because of Wemby,
- 18:57Speaker 1: Like he followed Wemby and he's like, oh yeah, just
- 19:00Speaker 1: make this weekend something.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that.
- 19:02Speaker 1: If one of them choose to participate, and then all
- 19:05Speaker 1: the rest of the players like, okay, let's go turn
- 19:08Speaker 1: this into someth where they used to be.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Wemby said, the tone with the competitiveness where you
- 19:14Speaker 2: can tell like Jokic coming off an injury, Luca coming
- 19:18Speaker 2: off injury. They was like, nah, like we're good, you
- 19:21Speaker 2: know what I mean. I always think about it, and
- 19:24Speaker 2: I found out recently that they don't do this anymore,
- 19:26Speaker 2: But I always thought about it, Like the MLB make
- 19:29Speaker 2: it East versus West, and whoever wins gets home court advantage.
- 19:33Speaker 2: That's the only Like the I didn't care anything about baseball,
- 19:38Speaker 2: but if I caught the All Star Game while it
- 19:40Speaker 2: was on the way, they shot it and then also
- 19:43Speaker 2: they letting you know, you know there's stakes to this game. Bro,
- 19:46Speaker 2: I don't care about baseball, but the fact that there
- 19:49Speaker 2: was real stakes to the All Star Game and these
- 19:51Speaker 2: dudes was legit playing that game like it was a
- 19:54Speaker 2: real game. When it came to the last innings, Bro,
- 19:57Speaker 2: that was different.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Bro.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And with the NBA they All Star weekend. Bro, It's like,
- 20:01Speaker 2: this is a privilege and you should want to be
- 20:03Speaker 2: like showing yourself against the best players in the world.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I understand it's not the end goal, but there's got
- 20:09Speaker 2: to be a middle ground where players are like, like,
- 20:12Speaker 2: I feel like they kind of found it this year
- 20:14Speaker 2: with like breaking the games in the quarters, you know
- 20:16Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Like, I will say, though, I think this USA versus
- 20:20Speaker 1: the world theme structure that they had this time built
- 20:25Speaker 1: off USA winning the Olympics. Oh yeah, how close it
- 20:29Speaker 1: came to the other team. So I think they all
- 20:31Speaker 1: wanted to say that world element was like like we
- 20:34Speaker 1: still I don't know how long that's gonna last though,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I don't know if that's
- 20:37Speaker 1: going to be as relevant. I don't know. I don't
- 20:39Speaker 1: know if the players are going to care. Like, all right,
- 20:41Speaker 1: y'all won the Olympics, y'all beat us last year. I
- 20:44Speaker 1: don't care to do this again.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you can even see this year, Yogis
- 20:47Speaker 2: didn't care, Lucra didn't care. So it's definitely gonna be
- 20:52Speaker 2: interesting to see how it goes. But dog Kawhy, bro,
- 20:57Speaker 2: he went on the insane heater, bro Yo. That was
- 21:03Speaker 2: an insane watch live even I even caught it afterwards
- 21:07Speaker 2: like in like a recap video, and it's still was
- 21:09Speaker 2: insane watching the recap, bro.
- 21:11Speaker 1: But that is Kawhi who he is. But it's like
- 21:14Speaker 1: you don't get the Kawhi year round. And that's why
- 21:16Speaker 1: it wasn't shocking. It was surprising that we got to
- 21:20Speaker 1: see it in the All Star Game.
- 21:22Speaker 2: It kind of like makes you mad of like what
- 21:25Speaker 2: could be if he wasn't injured as much as he is.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Imagine you play like that year round, bro.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Bro. And that's why, like people think I'm crazy, Bro,
- 21:32Speaker 2: but always say, like the healthy Kawhi is the best
- 21:34Speaker 2: player in the league because you see the way he
- 21:36Speaker 2: impacts a game and the way he imposes his will. Bro,
- 21:41Speaker 2: that is like prime Lebron MJ, prime Dwayne Wade.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Like there's nobody in his class right now who could
- 21:50Speaker 1: take over a game the way he does class literally,
- 21:53Speaker 1: and I'm talking about like draft class.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Yes, And I'll even say like somebody like a Yokis Bro,
- 21:59Speaker 2: Like he's his size kind of like impedes him from
- 22:04Speaker 2: really like stretching the floor. Like let's say game on
- 22:07Speaker 2: the line, yo, kids doesn't have as deep a bag
- 22:10Speaker 2: as Kawhi has, you know what I'm saying. Like Kawhi
- 22:13Speaker 2: is like the end of the game, Bro. He can
- 22:15Speaker 2: get you any kind of shot.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Kids can't pull it from the corner, fall out of
- 22:18Speaker 1: bounce and let.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It exactly like Bro, it is. It's one of those
- 22:24Speaker 2: things too, Bro, where it's like it's a pleasure to
- 22:26Speaker 2: watch man.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. Bro, I was actually like wow, and
- 22:30Speaker 1: like I was never a hater. I was never a
- 22:33Speaker 1: huge fan, but it reminded me how much I enjoyed
- 22:37Speaker 1: watching games that he was in. It reminded me like, damn, yeah, it.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Really just let us know how much we're like we
- 22:44Speaker 2: were kind of robbed of like more of that just
- 22:48Speaker 2: through the injuries. Yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I was like, Bro, I would love to see this
- 22:52Speaker 1: a full season.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Nah for real, man, like a constant barrage. That would
- 22:56Speaker 2: have been insane. Man. It's even like way too, Like
- 23:00Speaker 2: Wade was insane when he was in his prime, but
- 23:02Speaker 2: a lot of that was cut short with injuries. Because
- 23:04Speaker 2: it's like to a certain point, Bro, when you're given
- 23:07Speaker 2: so much, like your body's your body's gonna betray you
- 23:10Speaker 2: at some point, you know.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Not for Lebron though, but hey he still hooped.
- 23:15Speaker 2: He still did. But could you say that Lebron gave
- 23:19Speaker 2: his body like in a series, because that was the
- 23:23Speaker 2: that was the knock on him in the beginning, Bro,
- 23:25Speaker 2: that he wasn't given his all.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Like twenty sixteen Cleveland and Warriors, that's what Oh.
- 23:31Speaker 2: No, no, for sure for sure, but by then for sure.
- 23:34Speaker 2: But that was the knock early in his career.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Like, Okay, so you said if he ever did it, Yes,
- 23:39Speaker 1: he's done it, but early in his career, I don't know. No,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know. The early Cleveland years, I
- 23:45Speaker 1: don't think it was worth it to him that he
- 23:49Speaker 1: when they lost to the MAVs and the Spurs. I
- 23:55Speaker 1: don't think he did. I don't think he did until
- 23:57Speaker 1: he went back to Cleveland. I think that's when he
- 23:59Speaker 1: started to like just sacrificing every little last drop he had.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Well, no, I would say, yeah, yeah, I remember on
- 24:07Speaker 2: that Heat team he would I mean he was doing
- 24:10Speaker 2: a little towards the end in Cleveland, but like on
- 24:12Speaker 2: that Heat team, he was jumble with centers, he was
- 24:14Speaker 2: starting centers, he was like.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's when they had a meme where he was looking
- 24:17Speaker 1: up when it was down and he was in that
- 24:19Speaker 1: yeah takeover. So I would say that towards the end
- 24:22Speaker 1: of his heat career, that's when he finally turned it
- 24:26Speaker 1: up to prime Lebron. I think that was prime Lebron. Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And Bro, that's the funny thing when we talk about
- 24:33Speaker 2: Lebron too, and we'll kind of just wrap up with this,
- 24:35Speaker 2: is like people always they want to hate on him
- 24:39Speaker 2: so bad, Bro, Like we don't. I mean, you think
- 24:41Speaker 2: he's the best player ever. I don't think he's the
- 24:43Speaker 2: best player ever. But we don't ever really even push
- 24:47Speaker 2: that narrative. We just talk about him from the point
- 24:49Speaker 2: of view of like what he's doing and like just
- 24:51Speaker 2: historically seeing it. And people don't even like giving him props.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Bro.
- 24:55Speaker 2: It's like, regardless how you feel about him personally, for
- 24:58Speaker 2: you to be like not giving him his props as
- 25:01Speaker 2: like an NBA player and what he's done in his
- 25:04Speaker 2: career is insane.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Bro, And you know, you know it's crazy. Like I've
- 25:07Speaker 1: always like Kobe Kobe. I wasn't like his biggest fan ever,
- 25:14Speaker 1: but once he left the league and then you just
- 25:17Speaker 1: saw a montage with the monstage of how great he was,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and I.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Was like, damn, Yeah. My thing with Kobe was just
- 25:24Speaker 2: he was an OP all the time because I'm a
- 25:25Speaker 2: Spurs fan, so he was just an OP.
- 25:28Speaker 1: But you're not. You don't know what you missed out
- 25:31Speaker 1: on until it's gone. And I feel like it's gonna
- 25:33Speaker 1: be big time for everyone at Lebron when Lebron retires.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I get what you're saying because like so
- 25:38Speaker 2: many people hate him for no reason, like they hate
- 25:41Speaker 2: him like because of like off the court he still
- 25:43Speaker 2: to watch like yeah, and it's like, bro, why you
- 25:46Speaker 2: can't just enjoy that he's hooping, like regardless of how
- 25:49Speaker 2: you feel, he's hooping, Like it's crazy, man, Lebron is
- 25:53Speaker 2: super polarizing, bro. And it kind of goes back to
- 25:55Speaker 2: what we said earlier about like the political thing kind
- 26:00Speaker 2: of going into basketball. Lebron is very clear of like
- 26:04Speaker 2: which side of the isle he's on that is automatically
- 26:08Speaker 2: going to cut half your audience, you know what I mean.
- 26:10Speaker 2: It goes back to that thing that Jordan's said, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 2: like which he said he never said, but you know
- 26:15Speaker 2: Republicans by sneakers too, you know they Jordan said, he
- 26:19Speaker 2: never said that, but it's like the way people kind
- 26:22Speaker 2: of viewed him. Yeah, he just kind of stayed in
- 26:24Speaker 2: the middle because he didn't want to piss off anybody
- 26:26Speaker 2: because he was such a global brand.
- 26:29Speaker 1: So it's smart.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's a lot of layers to it, man, And it's
- 26:32Speaker 2: just funny seeing how people react whenever we talk about it.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Man, you think let's close it out way, you think
- 26:38Speaker 1: he's retiring this year. I think though, I think I think.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I think he got one more year and maybe two
- 26:44Speaker 2: of let me take a reduced role because I think he.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Well his contracts up.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he can stay and be like a
- 26:51Speaker 2: fifteen pointed game type of guy, maybe a twelve pointed
- 26:54Speaker 2: game type of guy with less minutes. You know, it
- 26:57Speaker 2: depends on I feel like it just depends on his mindset,
- 27:00Speaker 2: like does he want to be contributing to a title
- 27:03Speaker 2: team to get a ring or does he still want
- 27:05Speaker 2: to be the focal pro.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Here's my take, pay cut d Mitch James Harden final
- 27:12Speaker 1: calves run close out his career with the championship. Tell
- 27:16Speaker 1: me that's not a squad.
- 27:17Speaker 2: People people talking about that.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I mean, it's not a squad.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Already got a squad now. And if they can get
- 27:21Speaker 2: Lebron on like a veteran minimum or something, that would
- 27:25Speaker 2: be kind of scary.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Bro. I love that. As his clothes out here, Yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 1: get his fifth ring, close his hand out.
- 27:31Speaker 2: We're gonna see what happens. Man. All we want to
- 27:34Speaker 2: know is if Lebron is gonna stay. But but
