- 1:53mythmaker Productions, all that fun stuff.
- 1:55Really awesome. Guy, had a great time on that on
- 1:58that episode got another guest lined up today, an old friend
- 2:05He's been on this podcast a couple of times.
- 2:07Well he's been see if he's been on the podcast more than once
- 2:10but he's definitely been featured on midgard musings more
- 2:14than once. He's been on the podcast at
- 2:15least one time and he's popped in for like random live streams
- 2:21and stuff on the on the YouTube channel.
- 2:23And he's got a really neat outlook on things, he's he
- 2:28practices a bit of like a cult type beliefs but he it's heavily
- 2:33rooted in. In like enochian keys and
- 2:36enochian magic or whatever. So I always refer to him as my
- 2:40enochian brother and he is a brother to me.
- 2:43He is, although not Pagan or Heathen, he is definitely
- 2:48someone who I would consider Ken, you know, or kith as an
- 2:53extension of the kin Circle and he has been, he's been to every
- 2:58one of my hosted. You all events that our tribe
- 3:01holds that he is like a an honorary You know, Tribal
- 3:05member, he has, he has contributed to said, rituals
- 3:09over over the years, and we've spoken many, many word over the
- 3:13horn as it were right. We've, we've exchanged a lot of
- 3:17wisdom and weird taught, a lot of weird with each other and
- 3:20exchange, the not the gift of knowledge in that way.
- 3:24So, you know, sometimes I remember some evenings where I
- 3:27would sit with him and he would, we just be talking and then, you
- 3:31know, the hours go by and you lose track of time.
- 3:34So Richard Kuhn is his name. You like I said Ben been
- 3:39introduced him at least once before if you're following the
- 3:42podcast and if you're not yet following my podcast, what are
- 3:45you doing? Give that follow button to

- 5:14Yeah, another long hot. Hot muggy summer Week here in.
- 5:22In the hot state of Tennessee. It it's pretty much been like
- 5:25that for for a while now. I don't think we're going to see
- 5:27any reprieve that. Yeah nothing else really much
- 5:33going on over here on my end no major things to report on as it
- 5:38were there's a you know the the Middle Tennessee heathens meet
- 5:42up which is happening here in Murfreesboro this Saturday.
- 5:46Be sure to if you're interested in coming out, check out the
- 5:50Facebook event, which is going to be Down in the description
- 5:54and show notes of the podcast. It's going to be at the

- 6:02Tennessee. Come by, starting around noon,
- 6:05grab yourself, a sandwich, Old soup salad.
- 6:08What have you? Whatever suits your fancy?
- 6:11Come out. Say hi, hang out with us for a
- 6:13bit. Yeah, let's go ahead and welcome
- 6:16Richard. And we're going to be lighting
- 6:18are incensed soon as he joins us and The topic of today's
- 6:22discussion is going to be a story that he has to tell of an
- 6:26experience that he had of the near-death kind.
- 6:34He had quite a interesting thing happened to him last year quite
- 6:37a quite a scary thing. Happened to him.
- 6:39Last year. Pulled through amazingly, well
- 6:44he's back to his old self as it were but maybe not quite as old
- 6:48self. I think things like near death
- 6:50experiences. Can really change a man change
- 6:56person. So yes, we will be talking about
- 6:59his nde, so if that bothers you, or if it's not your thing, then
- 7:04now's your chance to do it away. But I hope you listen and I hope
- 7:08you stay, you know, a part of this whole thing because I think
- 7:12I think we have a pretty fun episode lined up just the way
- 7:16the discussion can go with it. So, without further Ado, let's
- 7:21welcome. Richard McCune.
- 7:27Right now. Here we are back again with yes,
- 7:33the dick, the big dick over here and then that's it.
- 7:36As far as sir. That's not it.
- 7:37That's not an attempt to try to stroke your ego or anything else
- 7:41for that matter. It's just your hand.
- 7:45But yeah guys, Richard McQueen's back here, as you can tell.
- 7:49And yeah, I think we got a pretty pretty neat podcast lined
- 7:54up for us today while we get into it.
- 7:56I've got, you know, the incense thing here that I'm going to
- 8:00just fire up. But um, I was telling everybody
- 8:03before Richard, that you're, you know, for those that are like
- 8:08noon, right? That haven't seen you before or
- 8:12known you before the other podcasts.
- 8:16What's your, what's your, what's your deal man?
- 8:19What's your background? I said I said an occultist kind
- 8:22of but enochian and yeah hard to really hard to really like I
- 8:27guess come up with a name for it.
- 8:28So what would you what would you call it?
- 8:31I'm okay with With the enochian thing because I do practice some
- 8:36enochian magic. But I personally I like to pull
- 8:41from a few different things. So if it's summer abuse and made
- 8:49me sad will Christian if my view sound a little satanic if my you
- 8:55know it's because I or or kind of magical kind of whoo just
- 9:01Crystal. So, you know, it's because I
- 9:05tend to pull and make my own belief system ideas and so on as
- 9:13your hands and also the different parts, I guess right?
- 9:17Many many toes are many different Waters.
- 9:20Hey yeah. Yeah yeah.
- 9:22Yeah. But I, you know, I've said I
- 9:24said, I said to you in assets, other people before, you know,
- 9:27like The religion or the way how we I guess, manifest our
- 9:33spirituality, our religious beliefs, whatever matters.
- 9:37Very little when it comes down to, like true friendship, you
- 9:39know, because Chloe. Yeah, you know, I've shared a
- 9:42lot of thoughts and ideas and just you know General I think
- 9:47good wisdom, you know, wholesome ideas and stuff and we sat and
- 9:52we've had conversations that have lasted hours without us
- 9:55even yeah, realizing that it's taking that, you know, Time
- 9:59flies by so yeah and we're at a point where you've you've
- 10:07accepted me into your tribe and we look at each other as
- 10:12brothers and and and you've said before and I think you've even
- 10:19done podcasts on it, where you don't throw that?
- 10:25You don't throw that brother, right thing?
- 10:28Or Around to just everybody, you know.
- 10:31No, yeah, indeed, I, I mentioned it a little bit in the kind of
- 10:37like the intro parts of this episode here today is, you know,
- 10:41all of the events that you like, they're almost every, you will.
- 10:46I think well pretty. I every, every you'll event
- 10:49that. Yeah, we posted here, like,
- 10:51you've been a part of, and you've, you know, you've been a
- 10:54part of those rituals and, and other rituals to, Where we, you
- 11:01know, beyond brotherhood like you you're like that honorary
- 11:05Tribal member, you know, always welcome around the the hearth
- 11:09fire and to participate in our or things because of the
- 11:14contributions, you know, the exchange of that gift of wisdom,
- 11:19gift of knowledge that gift of experiencing all the things that
- 11:22you can't really like pick up and hold as a gifted item but
- 11:26nonetheless, they they are gifts.
- 11:28I feel ya know exactly. So yeah, you're absolutely
- 11:33brother to me, man, and I appreciate it.
- 11:37Yeah, we had a, we had a wild thing happen to you not seeing
- 11:43those little almost a year ago now believe or not help fast
- 11:48that flew by. But um, so I gave the people a
- 11:52little bit of a hint of the accept that or to the extent
- 11:56that I said, you know, he had an experience of the near-death
- 12:00variety. Yeah.
- 12:03So I get kind of gay people that morning it's like hey if stuff
- 12:05like this you know sure gives you or makes you uncomfortable
- 12:09like turn away now because this is it's going to be one of those
- 12:11podcasts right. We're going to be talking about
- 12:13stuff like that but I I have really nothing else to lead up
- 12:18to introduce it. So I guess why don't you just
- 12:21kind of start from the beginning and go however wherever wherever
- 12:27it goes man? However yeah.
- 12:28Or do you want to go? I'll just The whole thing front
- 12:34to back. And I have from back side side.
- 12:42I so my wife and I took a small vacation to Wilmington, North
- 12:50Carolina around November. To, you know, we did because we
- 13:02love the beach. We love the beach, even no
- 13:04matter what time of the year. It's the water, the the, the
- 13:10ocean, the, The Sounds, it's just very comforting.
- 13:15So we would go there. We have a good time.
- 13:18We have friends hang out and then we like to take a stop by
- 13:23the beach and just kind of sit there and just listen to listen
- 13:27to the water. It's very very, very soothing
- 13:31and relaxing and Well, one of our trips there, we went out
- 13:39with some friends, and I ate and drank, and we got there Friday.
- 13:45And then, the next day, I started feeling a little bit
- 13:49uncomfortable, like, like a the feeling you get, when you have
- 13:54an upset stomach, you know, like you might get a little bit of
- 13:58food poisoning, legal sick to your stomach, and My later on
- 14:08that night that Saturday night, I was feeling like but and my
- 14:17wife decided in her friend decided to go and have dinner
- 14:21and everything. Well, I said it home and watched
- 14:24Hallmark movies on the TV that you know, how to change the
- 14:27channel to. So I'm stuck you haven't watched
- 14:30it in really thick of you're watching homework.
- 14:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:36This is it, I'm here. This is it.
- 14:41This is what I'm saying. I can't believe you survived
- 14:43such a near-death experience of watching home or moves, man.
- 14:46Yeah, I think it was like three to five hours.
- 14:51That's what it felt like, but I was feeling so bad, like it
- 14:54could have been just two hours. But anyway, it was just bad
- 14:59enough and so, my wife was her heart.
- 15:03She loves homework movie. This time.
- 15:08Yeah. Lifetime.
- 15:10Original movies in the Hallmark Channel, man.
- 15:12It's like it's the same regurgitated storylines every
- 15:16year, but she loves them and, you know.
- 15:20Yeah, so so they're watching and my stomach's churning and
- 15:26feeling awful and everything. And then Sunday, we decided to
- 15:30leave and we came back and Then and then I was feeling the same
- 15:38way for, you know, three days in just getting progressively.
- 15:42Slowly getting progressively worse fast forward to Friday.
- 15:49I my stomach is bloated. Look like I'm nine months
- 15:53pregnant and I'm throwing up and I'm like this is bad.
- 15:56So we're like let's go to the I was urgent care type places, you
- 16:03know and you know and maybe they can kind of do a CT scan or we
- 16:09get there. They wouldn't do a CT scan, they
- 16:13took blood work, but it nothing came up suspicious to where they
- 16:19were like, oh, you have to go to the ER, but then again, here I
- 16:23am looking like I'm nine months pregnant, I didn't have any pain
- 16:31associated like you would have with rupturing your appendix, so
- 16:35didn't have any pain on your right side or anything like
- 16:39that? But I had a little bit of pain
- 16:44like in the middle but it wasn't like bent over and pain kind of
- 16:49feeling. It was just more like a
- 16:50discomfort. And so the doctor comes in looks
- 16:55at me feels around and, you know, he is definitely bloated,
- 17:02but I think he just needs to fart it out.
- 17:05That's exact words were. I think you just need to sit on
- 17:09your husband and he'll just farted out.
- 17:11Out and a man, I could have done that and I don't have a
- 17:16doctorate degree. I only have an associate's
- 17:19degree, I could have told you that I just said on one part it
- 17:22out, right, am I? That was advice from a, from a,
- 17:26from a physician, you know, didn't even say, I should go to
- 17:31the the, ER, anything. So we left very suspicious,
- 17:37like, we don't buy that and So, she took me to one, is hydration
- 17:45places because I was sweating, I was kind of in and out.
- 17:50And, you know, baby, I hydrating would help me a little bit.
- 17:54And so, we went there and one of the nurses also have, like, you
- 17:58didn't look good. I think he needs to go to the
- 18:00hospital. And shortly after that, we went
- 18:05to the the ER and They take me back to CT scan and the middle
- 18:13of the CT scan I'm like vomiting and everything and vomiting like
- 18:19on the way back it was getting progressively worse and the the
- 18:23surgeon came in and was like well we're going to perform
- 18:29emergency surgery. We think there might be a like a
- 18:31blockage or something like that needless to say they opened me
- 18:36up and they noticed I was septic and So they life flighted me to
- 18:43Vanderbilt Hospital, which is being one in Nashville.
- 18:47That's like the best hospital. The best care.
- 18:51Yeah. Now we know, so you they they
- 18:54you went back for the scan your vomiting on the way back to the
- 18:57to get scanned. They did.
- 19:02They get the results of your scan to determine?
- 19:04We need to cut you open. Or was that just like a?
- 19:07We think we know what's going on.
- 19:08Its best? Yes, good.
- 19:10Or like yeah, it was very, it was very evident that he's,
- 19:16there's really something going on.
- 19:18They took a good look at the CT Scan, they noticed, like a lot
- 19:22of bowel type stuff going on. So they cut me open and then
- 19:31when they cut me open, they realized that I was subject so
- 19:38that I guess they washed me out and then they life flighted me
- 19:42to Vanderbilt, I guess that's a part of this from what I
- 19:46remember. I the only thing I remember out
- 19:48of this is yummy, you weren't caught.
- 19:51I was unconscious. The, the last conscious thought
- 19:55I could hear was the was the helicopter blades going and then
- 20:04I passed out again. And then a week later, I woke
- 20:06up. and, Everything was explained to me what I've gone
- 20:13through at by appendix had ruptured.
- 20:17The reason why you didn't feel anything or have any pain
- 20:21associated was because your appendix was not where it would
- 20:25normally be for somebody. They said it was actually in the
- 20:31middle and cushioned behind something.
- 20:35So I didn't have any pain or anything so that they so I would
- 20:41not have known and the only reason I was even concerned was
- 20:45because why am I feel like I'm gonna pass out any moment in my
- 20:50body but I was in shock I was in septic shock to my body was
- 20:54shutting down and those feelings called with been looking like I
- 20:59was nine months pregnant. Is that was all that all that
- 21:03bow. I was four.
- 21:05And I was full septic, they had to do three surgeries apparently
- 21:13to repair everything, one of the surgeries involved being what
- 21:18they call a bowel resection, which means I lost 19 inches of
- 21:26intestine. Which was so destined along does
- 21:32longer the long and large intestine the long intestine?
- 21:35Yeah that one Jesse but that that that warm attention and you
- 21:39know science class we watch Abyss what Bill Nye so the Lord
- 21:44I don't know, maybe this we had, I don't know that part but I
- 21:53think about a foot and a half away.
- 21:54It's all you. Yeah, almost two feet and So,
- 22:03you know, I big open wound and everything, and it wasn't a
- 22:10staple everything. Shut kind of procedure.
- 22:16They had to put you on a thing called a wound.
- 22:18Vac And the this wound VAC is what starts closing everything
- 22:26up. They stuffy with a bunch of
- 22:27phone and and then they turn on the machine and it sucks, it
- 22:32everything. And and then there's a thing
- 22:38that fluid to flow through. So you can technically, they
- 22:43stuffed with foam. Yeah, they still in the scar
- 22:49like a Build-A-Bear basically, stuck you with phone up your ass
- 22:54and then just, you know, shake a little bit.
- 22:57I watched them, I watched him. Do it like the first time they
- 23:00did it. I was I was high as high as hell
- 23:03on the on Dilaudid and little bit.
- 23:07And and then they Had they were cutting foam and everything and
- 23:14just kind of stuff in me in like a little teddy bear and and then
- 23:19there and then they had this court that they attach the
- 23:22machine. And apparently it develops fluid
- 23:25drainage and stuff like that. And just gross and everything.
- 23:29And and there were like, okay, Richard, we're going to turn it
- 23:34on. I was like, okay, and before I
- 23:36could finish saying, okay they turned it on and And and you
- 23:42feel like your soul is coming out of your body and and it was
- 23:48very painful and that that was three times a week while I was
- 23:53in the hospital and then by the time I left the hospital near
- 24:00close to Christmas. So all in all I was in the
- 24:06hospital from November 19th. Till.
- 24:13December like a week or so before Christmas.
- 24:18Something like that. So any or month?
- 24:21Yeah, that a month or so, because I opted to do physical
- 24:25therapy and stuff like that. I lost a bunch of weight.
- 24:28When I went in, I was run 2:30 when I came out of hospital,
- 24:33when I woke up I was wrong 188 and When I think one of the and
- 24:41when I left the hospital, I was around 190 or so.
- 24:48And I was on this wound, VAC until February this year until
- 24:55about the end of February. And so I was on the wound VAC
- 24:58thing for about three months. Yeah, and and that going to
- 25:07physical therapy. They would act, they would
- 25:09change my wound, VAC there at a learn to get my balance right.
- 25:14You know, and get some muscles working.
- 25:20Again, I couldn't do any app or anything.
- 25:25I couldn't do anything to gauge your ads because the scar is
- 25:29literally running from just below.
- 25:32Oh oh my sternum to just about the groin area.
- 25:38So it's like all the way down your belly never and eBay.
- 25:41You basically were like you got dissected in a way.
- 25:44Yeah, almost. Yeah, pretty much.
- 25:49And that's scary enough. I mean you know I'm like
- 25:52reliving this whole experience just from hearing you talk about
- 25:55it because I vividly remember obviously where I was when when
- 26:00your wife let us know because we were in North Carolina to yeah
- 26:06at the time and so you know I think you guys were out there
- 26:12the week before we were. And so like we had we my wife
- 26:15and I had gone out to visit friends and family in Carolina
- 26:19and then I guess this message saying that, you know, you're in
- 26:22the hospital you were septic and there's an emergency
- 26:27appendicitis, you know, that they're removing your appendix
- 26:30and I was like, holy shit, you know, and just kind of listening
- 26:34and following along with the carcass of stuff.
- 26:35It was like this was bad like yes it was it was bad and and
- 26:42you know knowing what the outcome could have been, you
- 26:46know? I was like freaking out man.
- 26:48I'm like, here I am in North Carolina like am I gonna have to
- 26:50cut, you know, and not to give this or but I'm like, am I going
- 26:52to have to am I going to come home and Bury my friend, you
- 26:56know, like bury my brother. Like that's kind of the shit
- 26:59that I was thinking about him like no fucking way.
- 27:01Like no, that ain't happenin man.
- 27:02He's got a hole through this, you know, and so yeah, like
- 27:07reliving this, the emotions of it.
- 27:08All right. Now for me is yeah it was it was
- 27:14it was and opted, not to downplay, I'm a year, you know,
- 27:18through it so like but it's a, it's really interesting.
- 27:27And this is where I get I guess into the near death.
- 27:32Experience, some type of things. You know, it's surprising you
- 27:39would think that some people would be traumatized and some
- 27:43sort of way coming out of it being in the hospital that long
- 27:46and being in that, and in the hospital bed, for over two
- 27:50weeks, and a week of your life is gone.
- 27:57Yeah. Literally part of you has gone
- 27:58away. I mean that, you know, two feet
- 28:00of your intestine, you lost 45 pounds.
- 28:03I mean, just like crazy changes of your physical body, right?
- 28:08Yeah. The.
- 28:15Hardest part. Of the whole experience.
- 28:22Was I was on a lot of drugs. I was on fentanyl propofol
- 28:32Michael Jackson mixture basically and all sorts of other
- 28:36stuff, being being too. What's that big to?
- 28:44They put em. I can't remember the name of it.
- 28:49It's like a not a, it's like a tube that goes all the way down
- 28:55its road to and and, you know, they got Pull it out once they
- 29:00once you're healed enough and you know that yeah.
- 29:04Yeah. There's no there's no like
- 29:05there's no talking while I mean things like literally just shove
- 29:07down your gullet. Pretty much.
- 29:09Yeah. And I was tied to the, I was
- 29:15restrained during that two weeks.
- 29:22And I see you because I had an open wound.
- 29:26They didn't want my hands going near.
- 29:29They didn't want to take that risk at all.
- 29:31I don't blame them. So I was restrained and and I
- 29:38remember like getting the nurses attention so you can't speak.
- 29:48So there's a suction to help suction out, you know, stuff in
- 29:52the belly like, like bound fluid and stuff like that, you know,
- 29:57well, I couldn't, I had trouble finding it a lot.
- 30:00And so, I had to get their attention, and try to get them
- 30:07to get the thing to suck, everything out, and So I would
- 30:15is going to be gross. I would intentionally make
- 30:17myself throw up, so they would come over and do a needed to be
- 30:24done. You know?
- 30:28It sounds awful, it's the worst ever.
- 30:34But then coming off of those drugs.
- 30:39It was rough. I remember the first couple
- 30:43days. I was awake a little bit more
- 30:46cognizant. Sleeping was very hard.
- 30:55I was having these weird dreams or I remember telling you the
- 31:03about this. Ike.
- 31:10You know. I'm sleeping in that feeling of
- 31:18that sinking feeling. Yeah.
- 31:22Like we were losing ground in a way and you're kind of like
- 31:25falling but we're slipping and I was having dreams of being going
- 31:31down like a like a dirt tunnel and I kept seeing different
- 31:37symbols, some symbols are recognized.
- 31:39Some, I didn't so much sound. My cymbals I recognized from my
- 31:45really my faves that I've come across and some symbols who came
- 31:50across from yours. Especially I definitely remember
- 31:59seeing freya's symbol, definitely.
- 32:04Remember saying, I think, Odin And but also saw Apollo
- 32:18Astronauts in my in my face and I saw his symbol.
- 32:26So and so, all these different things that sinking feeling and
- 32:30that feeling that, if I let myself go, just like that, I'll
- 32:35just keep falling now. Just keep going and never come
- 32:40back up. So I would force myself awake.
- 32:47and, I don't know if it's the result of the drugs.
- 32:53And being messed up that I had these dreams.
- 32:56But these dreams were very real real to me and This is all while
- 33:04you're in the, in the ICU or recovering from the certain like
- 33:08this is all during that. Yeah, right?
- 33:10Yeah, this was after that first week, so I guess You know that
- 33:23first week I was completely out. So I was awakened cognizant and
- 33:30the first couple days after being awake awake and and
- 33:36pulling work on isn't every time the the whole the rest of the
- 33:40week was rough to sleep like, but the first couple of first
- 33:47couple days. Maybe first three days were like
- 33:50the worst because I was coming off those really hard drugs and
- 33:55everything. Yeah, that I was on and I'll and
- 33:57having those dreams. There were the same dream like I
- 34:03swear like two days in a row and then after that was just After
- 34:15that was just, you know, I hate hospitals.
- 34:18So, like I would probably sleep, you know, a few hours and then
- 34:25wake up. It was kind of normal for a
- 34:27little while at that point but I wasn't having those dreams
- 34:30anymore, but it was that first couple days after recovering.
- 34:39That I was having all that, all those dreams.
- 34:42I was just telling you about an hour like down dead.
- 34:48Sorry, that's fine. I'll save it till later.
- 34:50Go ahead. Yeah.
- 34:52I remember those telling you those dreams and everything when
- 34:57it occurred and he said it matched up when it when you were
- 35:02visiting your friend Jam? Yeah, I know you Carolina.
- 35:09And that was like, the timing of things were.
- 35:13So I don't know. Like very interesting the way
- 35:18things lined up, right? Because right before we went to
- 35:22North Carolina, I went on my shamanic Journey with Dingo and
- 35:28Patrick and we did our, you know, ritual out there and in
- 35:32around are Vey and it was a it was an all-night shamanic
- 35:36experience and then You know, literally less than a week
- 35:40later, I'm in North Carolina and finding out about your
- 35:43situation. And that's the weekend that I
- 35:46was at JMS. You know, where we held a little ritual of our own,
- 35:52you know, where there was, you know, time spent around the
- 35:56fire. There was drumming, there was,
- 35:57it was, it was again, very, very spiritual and very ritualistic
- 36:01experience. Coming off of the coattails of
- 36:04an intense. Mind-altering, you know, altered
- 36:11state of consciousness experience that I had the week
- 36:13before. So I'm literally like reeling
- 36:15from the after-effects of that experience and still not quite
- 36:20back to my normal self. You know what I mean?
- 36:22Like, yeah, I was I was still really not all here but never
- 36:26still. I was still very new to like
- 36:28this Human Experience after having gone through something.
- 36:31So So so yeah. Roaring you know and then again
- 36:37to find out about all that and I was like I don't you know, I
- 36:39think in a way that that experience going on that journey
- 36:43and then being in North Carolina with jme.
- 36:45So I think everything included helped me too.
- 36:51Kind of process what was going on with you in a holistic way.
- 36:57It's knowing and understanding the severity of it, but not like
- 37:00losing. My absolute mind thinking about
- 37:03the consequent or what could ultimately happen here.
- 37:07Like, what are we facing right? It was almost like, I get it, I
- 37:10understand it, but I met some I was like this weird to say
- 37:12because again I wasn't doing experience but I was like at
- 37:14peace with it in a way, you know, like yeah he's going to be
- 37:17okay. It's going to be rough but In
- 37:21that moment having that time and that experience really helped me
- 37:24to connect to the bigger picture.
- 37:29I don't know, relativity, if of life and our place in this
- 37:33universe and where we land and where we fall in just, how kind
- 37:37of just it is what it is, right? Like, you know, yeah, whatever.
- 37:41Whatever is to be is going to be but I'm prepared for it either
- 37:44way, but I don't know, like, just thinking of back about that
- 37:47moment and having the memories of how I was feeling still
- 37:50thinking about like, and, you know, this could happen like
- 37:53this is a possibility, glad it didn't course.
- 37:57But, you know, and I was wondering, like, when you were
- 38:00talking about the dreams and the feelings of falling or slipping
- 38:05into this Chasm, or this tunnel, or this, you know, how you
- 38:09describe it as like this. This dirt looks like a mine
- 38:12shaft. I'm thinking of them, like, in
- 38:14ways that to describe it like this, just Earth written and and
- 38:17the dream to clarify a little bit more.
- 38:21The the this dream I was having it wasn't just One thing and
- 38:25then it was over. I would go back to sleep and
- 38:29then it was start up again, it was continuous.
- 38:33Same thing for the entire night I would keep waking up and I
- 38:38would be like, okay I'm here, I'm breathing.
- 38:42Alright. Then I had fault drugs off.
- 38:45Fell back asleep. It was startup get this feeling
- 38:49and then I would force myself awake.
- 38:51It was like this for two days. So I was wondering like did when
- 38:57you would come back, right? When you when you said, you kind
- 38:59of a force yourself back awake was, it was it an Abrupt
- 39:02re-entry into the room and the space around you or was or was
- 39:07it as much of a going down this Hall and now I'm coming back up
- 39:10this whole to get back to my conscious.
- 39:12So was there, I was, it was a media, it was brought, it was
- 39:16very abrupt and but that feeling of going up, the tunnel was that
- 39:23quick as well. So is this like that whole just
- 39:26coming back up? Yeah.
- 39:31So do you think that the because I know from you know and he's
- 39:37you know near-death experiences there they're very widely
- 39:40documented everybody has different Recollections of what
- 39:44they would refer to as a an nde. And and I know that this podcast
- 39:49is to talk about that. Do you do you do you think That
- 39:55the dreams after the initial results of like you know the
- 40:00distance that the stomach distension, the vomiting being
- 40:03in surgery and then not remembering anything until you
- 40:06walk back up. Do you think that what you were
- 40:08experiencing was this? Drifting of your conscious self
- 40:13into death. Like do you think that that's
- 40:15what those dreams were or those Visions or whatever you want to
- 40:19call them? Do you think that that would be
- 40:22What you would refer to as a near-death experience that it
- 40:24was like your body almost being like it's time to go and you're
- 40:27like, no, I'm not going to go. That's that's what it.
- 40:31That's what it really felt like to me.
- 40:35I'm, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. I'm not gonna or anything but
- 40:40like, it really, it really felt like that.
- 40:44To me, feel more like, oh, I don't care what people think.
- 40:52Lamb old man. Yeah, kind of come out here for
- 40:55a minute but like I don't really care what people who believe in
- 41:00it or don't believe in it. I don't care what they think
- 41:06because they wouldn't it's one of those things you just
- 41:11wouldn't know unless you're going through yourself.
- 41:14And so I'm just going to just be a matter of fact about that.
- 41:25You know. so, it was very You know.
- 41:38I felt like I was leaving this place.
- 41:41My energy was going about going somewhere else, and I could feel
- 41:44it and I was not ready for it. I didn't like it.
- 41:50It wasn't just wasn't my time. And yeah.
- 41:55So that's the really my thoughts on it.
- 42:01I, I, you know, I after I have Covered in everything I Googled
- 42:10and don't ever do this. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:13Dangerous route. Yeah, Google like what sepsis
- 42:20the survival rate it was under 50% like 30 percent of people
- 42:27who get sepsis lived to tell about it and so in Maybe the
- 42:38reason why I survived is because I wasn't I wasn't older or
- 42:42anything because some of those statistics were for people who
- 42:48who are a little older and let it go.
- 42:51They usually don't make it. You know, maybe AIDS played into
- 42:57it. I don't know, but I just knew it
- 43:05was not my time and and not I got a lot of things, I need that
- 43:11I wanted to accomplish. And you know, I just been
- 43:18married that point for about six months, right?
- 43:25So when a hell of a way to you know, what a hell of a start to
- 43:29your first year of marriage man, he go ahead, rupture your
- 43:33appendix and you don't stay with you, she don't stick with you
- 43:37for the rest of your life. After going through that with
- 43:39you then, man, she and something's wrong man because
- 43:43Kudos are cleared for being so strong and being aware there.
- 43:46And, you know, I love Charlie to death and she's good for you
- 43:50man. And she's been the an awesome.
- 43:54Opponent to the life of Richard, you know, and now your lives
- 43:58together like yeah. Thank you manly, what a
- 44:02incredible story. And, you know, you talk about
- 44:05like, you know, your physical age and what not being the
- 44:08factor, no doubt, right? That you being a middle-aged
- 44:15somewhat healthy, right guy, whatever.
- 44:19Like you, you're not the correct that, you know, you know, you up
- 44:23with the Getty had a healthy youth.
- 44:24Are you active in your swimming and all that other kind of
- 44:27stuff? Well, so wonder if because of
- 44:32the visions that you had in all that and experiences and having
- 44:36some sort of at least, to some degrees, a subconscious
- 44:38understanding of what that was right, you maybe maybe didn't
- 44:43have it like all mapped out or whatever in the moment, but at
- 44:47least having some sort of again, so conscious realization of what
- 44:51it was because of your spirituality and your Three in
- 44:55the practices that you've had over the years because this
- 44:58enochian thing, right? This isn't just like you woke up
- 45:00the other day and thought, yeah, this is what I want to be.
- 45:02Like this has been a part of your life for a while, at least,
- 45:06right? Yeah.
- 45:07You think that the do you think that your Not just your physical
- 45:14health but your spiritual health contributed to your survival and
- 45:18not succumbing to that. It's very welcome to the other.
- 45:23Yeah, it's possible. I mean, because I just think of
- 45:30it as like. Why else would you think that
- 45:32I'm not ready for that yet? I have other things I need to do
- 45:35and I'm not gonna slip into this.
- 45:37I am if I and If I'm saying the symbols, I was saying when when
- 45:47I was having this experience, I probably would have wrote it off
- 45:53as something just a weird dream, the effect of the drugs, but
- 45:59because I'm familiar with these symbols, I knew that there was
- 46:07other things at play here. so, you know, I firmly believe it,
- 46:20you know I mean like I think I think that with the combination
- 46:23of your path and then just having the experiences that
- 46:28we've had together and and you know the talks that we've had
- 46:33The conversations that we held over many a horn of meat and
- 46:38other Libations. And it was just that whole
- 46:41camaraderie, the whole experience, right?
- 46:43It's almost like, you know, there was, there was parts of
- 46:46all of that that whether, you know, it or not, or whether you
- 46:50think about it or not almost in a way prepares you for something
- 46:55like this, right? Whether it's, you know, You
- 47:00know, the the death or the illness of a loved one or
- 47:03whether it's your own mortality. Taking hold and basing things
- 47:08like those are the foundations I think in the building blocks for
- 47:14preparing, oneself to deal with it.
- 47:17Right? The the Unseen the unknown, that
- 47:19the thing beyond what we know is our moral experience.
- 47:23And what we see in here taste and touch and all that.
- 47:28There's some basic senses. The other reason why I feel that
- 47:32the other things were at play were the the timing of when you
- 47:40were there and doing your experience with with Jan.
- 47:45And also I have another friend who I think I've talked about it
- 47:50on before about my enochian. Magic a little bit, add a person
- 48:00who served as sort of a medium for me in the beginning that
- 48:05would help me. That would she would channel was
- 48:09sorcerer to sort of a condiment. So the So, they could speak
- 48:17through her and everything and that takes a lot of energy and a
- 48:21lot of toll on someone that that same person reached out while I
- 48:28was gone as well. So, there were, there was you.
- 48:32And then there was my friend and And of course everybody else
- 48:42that were in their thoughts. All that stuff played into it.
- 48:48A lot of energy is being put out there man in this you know the
- 48:52universe you want to call it the spirit realm.
- 48:54Like there was a lot of. Yeah.
- 48:56And like I said before, I've said this before.
- 49:00Many times what you put out in the universe, the universe will
- 49:03return in kind that. That is so true here.
- 49:09What's up? Yeah.
- 49:13It's a I don't know mean like my and you know, a lot of my own
- 49:19growth and speed and in my spirituality that where I've
- 49:22grown and what I've become has found its place in not so much
- 49:31like the Unseen well not so much like the Unseen in terms of like
- 49:35the gods, right? Or or what you I consider like
- 49:37the Divine or sacred beings. It's found its place in the
- 49:41things that are seeing like the earth and the and nature and
- 49:47things and realizing that their Spirits all around us, they take
- 49:52form, they take form of, you know, a heron or an eagle or or
- 49:59the rocks, and the trees and the water in the, you know, the
- 50:02trails and then nature and stuff.
- 50:03Like there's literally a multitude of Sentient beings
- 50:10like we are but just in different form existing all
- 50:13around us and tapping into those you know tongue like tapping
- 50:17into those places and connecting.
- 50:20Reconnecting back to those places has opened up such a
- 50:26window for me and realizing just where I where I am in this big
- 50:32universe as you say the things that you put out you get back.
- 50:34It's it is it doesn't make it so like its Fast and there's this
- 50:39void that kind of blows your mom, you think just the Batman,
- 50:41the size of it, all and others in comparison as p as beings.
- 50:46But at the same time, it's also like, but I am the part of this.
- 50:50And I am able to influence this and this, and I can manipulate
- 50:54things, and make things happen, because I've done it.
- 50:56I've seen it, and it's happened. It's so, you know, I don't know,
- 50:58man. It's like a such a Wild Thing to
- 51:04know that you're not just you're not nobody here, we're not
- 51:08nobody. So we are we are powerful beings
- 51:12you know. Yeah the and we have the ability
- 51:14to do some really powerful shit, you know.
- 51:17Yeah, yeah. And and and being a part of that
- 51:22in different ways. You know exactly especially when
- 51:27it comes to like the mortality aspect of things, you know like
- 51:31Suffering loss. But seeing the life that still
- 51:38continues to exist, despite that loss, right?
- 51:42I mean there's there there are more times than I can count on
- 51:44my hand that my wife's brother, who you know, his his, the
- 51:51anniversary of his passing was just last week, you know?
- 51:57his physical body isn't present, but He's still around like
- 52:01they're like as I can count, I can count on more times than I
- 52:05care to think about on how many times.
- 52:07I he's made himself manifest, you know, he has a daughter or
- 52:10niece that's a form of life that's tied to him, you know.
- 52:15So it's like just being aware of the Cycles, you know, seeing you
- 52:23rebound. And that's another thing I
- 52:24wanted to talk about man, because like you were saying,
- 52:26like, I don't vent like that could could could severely and
- 52:30Sure has you know, traumatized people and it's, you know,
- 52:36that's understandable, you know, to go through such a traumatic
- 52:40event of nearly dying and having part of your body, literally
- 52:44ripped out of you and all this other kind of stuff like yeah
- 52:48hmm and like in here you are man.
- 52:51Like playing Rock shows onstage and and living your best life,
- 52:58right? Yeah.
- 52:59After surviving Such a thing. I mean, that's it.
- 53:01That's iconic, man, it's legendary.
- 53:04And I think that like, I look at that.
- 53:07I'm showing damn, like, what a, what a, what a, what, an
- 53:09example, the set, you know. It's it's, it's very interesting
- 53:19that The amount of. people who responded because I got to see
- 53:30all those messages and people who followed on social media who
- 53:38cared and something like something like this.
- 53:43You know, you learn who your friends are and I'm not going to
- 53:50say anything negative about it but you learn who your friends
- 53:56are and you know, who's close to you and So this has given me a
- 54:05different perspective on friendship and you know who to
- 54:13let in who not to let in there's you know, being in the music,
- 54:20scene means a musician. You know, there's people I held
- 54:28on a on a pedestal, you know, promote for Most of most of his
- 54:34life, you know, and I don't have as much people I put on a
- 54:43pedestal anymore because I honestly do not need that.
- 54:48And in my life you know, because those people I've put on a
- 54:55pedestal for most of my life. Didn't bother to reach out.
- 55:01And and so, you know, grounded me and things in perspective,
- 55:10right? Mmm.
- 55:13And And because of the you learn who your friends are.
- 55:22It led me back into a band that I was not no longer involved?
- 55:30In I moved on at stepped away from it.
- 55:34I thought my time in the music scene was pretty much over then,
- 55:41my appendix thing happened and When those people guys, in the
- 55:46band reached out and everything and showed support that changed
- 55:54my perspective, you know, those people I was putting on a
- 55:57pitiless pedestal that didn't care.
- 55:59Then the ones that I left thought, I didn't care, still
- 56:03cared, spoke volumes to me. And then when they reached out
- 56:10to me, like, hey man, you want to come Jan?
- 56:13That was a That was a fucking no-brainer in my opinion like
- 56:18yeah whatever happened was in the past you know it's do it and
- 56:25now rattletrap got to play our first show as a band at Exit an
- 56:31and checked off a bucket list item for me and and is so
- 56:38amazing sort of have this. Come back, if you will.
- 56:45Yeah, or rebirth in a way, you know.
- 56:48And I'm not just saying just for from a problem of Music
- 56:51perspective. But a life perspective like I
- 56:59I'm more into my faith as I thought.
- 57:04I'm not necessarily necessarily mean reading books, or, or
- 57:11dancing around naked in a camp camp fire though.
- 57:16The that is fun. Run out.
- 57:17I've run out of book 3 so you know I got to do something.
- 57:29Don't knock it till you try it. Yeah.
- 57:34So you know, I'm more in tuned with with my beliefs in my my my
- 57:43faith and my being that I've ever have, I'm a little bit more
- 57:52driven. I still like to be lazy because
- 57:57I like to be lazy as fuck and don't get me wrong but but I'm
- 58:02very driven when I am involved in things and them as a musician
- 58:12I'm pranking out the guitar riffs left and right so well
- 58:17like I say you know that there's so much of your like you say you
- 58:20know, the near-death experience like your life is your life and
- 58:23and part of your life is Music, you are a musician and I don't
- 58:27know, too many people who are legitimate musicians who would
- 58:33not would say that music is not a part of their life.
- 58:37I would start by the right it's always been a part of my life
- 58:41you know whether it's sending in the background with Forefront
- 58:47right now it's it's at the Forefront you know they kind of
- 58:53do Went through that like roller coaster of experiences, right?
- 58:59And the thing that kind of launched the rattletrap to to be
- 59:05what it is, you could almost look at in a way it was like
- 59:10you're near death. Was it the near-death that
- 59:12needed the thing to die and be reborn into what it is?
- 59:16Now if you want something? That's how I look at things.
- 59:18Anyway, that's how I see. It was like there was a, there
- 59:21was a time that part of you. Was dying and whatever part of
- 59:27you that was connected to the band and in any sort of way and
- 59:30then what needed to die did. And now look what has happened
- 59:33because it's like, there was this Resurgence, this this
- 59:36revitalized approach to and you guys play exit in and like
- 59:40that's nuts. That's yeah.
- 59:42And also the, my Everything that I did in the past is in the past
- 59:55now and I don't mind talking about it.
- 1:00:00I used to get very nervous and talk about it.
- 1:00:02Used to be a afraid of judgment or, or how people feel about me
- 1:00:07because of my past. I don't really give a shit about
- 1:00:11that anymore. What's in?
- 1:00:15The past is in the past. And what I'm doing now is most
- 1:00:19Gordon have a beautiful, lovely wife, who takes very good care
- 1:00:24of me. And I take very good care of
- 1:00:26her. I'm surrounded by some of the
- 1:00:28best friends and possible. Have a wonderful brothers.
- 1:00:32You and I, I'm full, it's overflowing. so emerging and
- 1:00:45that's inspiring, you know, that's inspirational and Live
- 1:00:53your life to the fullest you know and if you run into a bump
- 1:00:59in the road, take advantage of it, you know.
- 1:01:02And you know don't look at the down side, don't get depressed.
- 1:01:09I'm not dramatic because of this experience, I'm reborn because
- 1:01:16of this experience. Yeah man.
- 1:01:20I think a lot of people that listen and watch this podcast.
- 1:01:23Will I think that I think this whole episode this, this story
- 1:01:28that you shared with the world will resonate to a lot of people
- 1:01:33in a lot of different ways. You know, everybody has a story
- 1:01:38and how that story gets told and when that story gets shared is
- 1:01:42up to the person and it's all it all ties into.
- 1:01:47I think how we Write our stories, how we tell our sagas
- 1:01:54you know I like almost an m in almost every episode at least in
- 1:01:58multiple ways. I've said that you know and it's
- 1:02:00not just me I mean I didn't coin this phrase.
- 1:02:03It's come from a bunch of different sources but we live in
- 1:02:05Saga times and the stock is that are being written.
- 1:02:09Now may not be that of a great king who led an Army against,
- 1:02:15you know, opposition's or great Heroes that slug monster.
- 1:02:19Those are all these sorts of things that were in the old
- 1:02:21sagas or some of these old tales and folklore, but they are
- 1:02:25nonetheless, great Tales. You know, the story of the story
- 1:02:30of Richard who came back from from death and saw ancient
- 1:02:35symbols in a great tunnel where he was traveling through Into
- 1:02:40Darkness and he came back into Consciousness into life and went
- 1:02:45on to become a great scold among the people and see And performed
- 1:02:50great songs in front of an audience and performed on state.
- 1:02:52As you know, like stuff like that, man.
- 1:02:54That's that is the stuff that's obvious.
- 1:02:56You know what I'm saying? Like, you could, you could
- 1:02:59position it in that way and it's be, you know, kids to be just
- 1:03:01like, tell me the tell me the one about, you know, Richard the
- 1:03:05gutless whatever, he's the man who lost his helmet to think of
- 1:03:10his intestine like tell me that story again, right?
- 1:03:13But uh, yeah, it's like stuff like that.
- 1:03:16That is inspirational and It's, it's tough.
- 1:03:20But I think people can take their own experiences, however,
- 1:03:23big or small and be like, wow, this guy who I don't necessarily
- 1:03:27know very well, told this amazing, tale of endurance, and
- 1:03:32of rebirth. And of, you know, meeting the,
- 1:03:37the challenges that the frightening reality of
- 1:03:41possibilities of death and all that and then turned it around
- 1:03:45to become something to fuel. His life, right?
- 1:03:50I think that's pretty epic. Yeah, I mean, I realize I may be
- 1:03:5443 years old but I'm not a, I'm not a day over 90 then.
- 1:04:00Now look at the overnight. You must have me Just For Men
- 1:04:05because you have way less gray hair than I do.
- 1:04:09I tell you what? And my last job, someone
- 1:04:15actually asked me that and I gave her Rule sick and
- 1:04:18disgusting answer. Yeah, II don't know if it's safe
- 1:04:22for this podcast but probably you have a healthy diet.
- 1:04:28Well, I mean you can also use a lot of lotion, you know, five
- 1:04:36times a day, five times a day. So got a bump up the numbers,
- 1:04:42right? That's, that's a modest amount
- 1:04:45for a man of forty, three hours. And there's only so many hours
- 1:04:50in a day, when you're not, you know, shopping for life
- 1:04:52insurance and taking power naps. Take a power nap and get up and
- 1:05:01get going again. You know, you got to take that,
- 1:05:05you got it, you got it. You got to pull off to the side
- 1:05:07of the road, every 20 minutes for a bathroom break, you know,
- 1:05:12this is Bob Ross, used to say whenever you pound his
- 1:05:15paintbrush to to the easel, he would say just got to bang it
- 1:05:20out, bang it out. Those are words to live by,
- 1:05:27that's a mantra that Behind you know, shoot my happy little
- 1:05:31accidents all over the place and just bang it out.
- 1:05:38Yeah, yeah. That's that's great.
- 1:05:43I'm so glad that we got a chance to, you know?
- 1:05:45Because I've talked with you, obviously about this since then
- 1:05:48and we've had our own little one-on-one or group.
- 1:05:52Conversations about the whole thing but II want to thank you
- 1:05:57very much for being willing to talk about this and revisit it
- 1:06:02and be candid enough to basically just a wide audience
- 1:06:08of people too. And really a broad and share
- 1:06:12that with with people I think I think it's going to resonate
- 1:06:16with a lot of folks, I really do.
- 1:06:18Yeah you know I used to be very timid about talking about
- 1:06:25personal things about religion and things like that and I'm not
- 1:06:30scared to talk about it at all anymore.
- 1:06:34I don't care how people see me When I talk about this things, I
- 1:06:42used to but you know you only live once for sure.
- 1:06:50And I mentioned this to you before you came on here that you
- 1:06:54know, you're no stranger to the podcast.
- 1:06:56Of course, you know, we've been friends now for a long time and
- 1:06:58in our brothers. So, yeah, for four people that
- 1:07:01are wanting to know a little bit more about Richard and his
- 1:07:03background in the description and in the show notes, I'm going
- 1:07:08to link the, the last podcast episode that you were on here
- 1:07:11with me. And I'm also going to link the
- 1:07:13very first video that you came onto the channel YouTube
- 1:07:19channel. We satisfy this very space, we
- 1:07:21had this backdrop behind us, we talked about things.
- 1:07:23It was almost like a little interview, sort of thing that's
- 1:07:27going to be linked in annotated and all that here in the.

- 1:07:58that this is where we would be right here.
- 1:08:00In shh, when we first met, you know, it was the music and
- 1:08:04that's crazy thing. Like so many of my friends and
- 1:08:07people have become brother to me, it all started with the
- 1:08:10music scene and that was that, that was the common ground.
- 1:08:13That was the thing. That started a acquaintance
- 1:08:17relationship which blossomed into friendship, which then grew
- 1:08:20into not everybody by no means not, not everybody.
- 1:08:24But the That have become brothers and family to me it's
- 1:08:28where it started. Yeah that that music scene, that
- 1:08:32music Circle and the ability to I don't know.

- 1:12:15on stage at exit in and that's that's the actual lyrics to the
- 1:12:18song to yeah. John Lennon in the boys from
- 1:12:28from, from the Rolling Stones, you know.
- 1:12:30Yeah. John Lennon of those guys
- 1:12:33anymore and Big Y in t-shirts and they and they played surf
- 1:12:36rock, you know, those guys and make Yeager pick Yeager.
- 1:12:40Yeah, yeah, yeah. They named a, they named after
- 1:12:44the dreamer, they named the submarine after him, I think.
- 1:12:47Yeah. Maybe.
- 1:12:48I think they named a liquor after that.
