- 0:12Speaker 1: What I want to talk to you guys about is
- 0:14Speaker 1: rest and it being as important as growth when things
- 0:18Speaker 1: slow down. So sometimes you're going to feel that when
- 0:21Speaker 1: things slow down, they're going to feel like they're plateauing.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And often we feel like we have done something wrong,
- 0:27Speaker 1: like we get this surge of imposter syndrome come over us.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Maybe you're working really hard on something, you're seeing all
- 0:32Speaker 1: this momentum, and then it either slows down or it
- 0:35Speaker 1: starts to go backwards for a little bit, and then
- 0:37Speaker 1: you might feel like you are the reason that things
- 0:40Speaker 1: were going wrong. And because of that, you think that
- 0:44Speaker 1: the reason things went well is due to luck, and
- 0:47Speaker 1: that luck has come to an end. And you're thinking,
- 0:50Speaker 1: now that that luck has come to an end, I
- 0:51Speaker 1: now have to scramble. That flow that I was in
- 0:54Speaker 1: wasn't a flow. It was just luck, and I'm an impostor.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The truth is that it was a flow, and you've
- 1:01Speaker 1: now just changed course a little bit. But this is
- 1:04Speaker 1: not a bad thing. Don't be looking at this as
- 1:07Speaker 1: being something to avoid, because this then causes us to resist.
- 1:11Speaker 1: When you resist something like when you're resisting change, or
- 1:15Speaker 1: when you're resisting something not going well, or when you
- 1:18Speaker 1: feel like your flow has broken and you're trying to
- 1:20Speaker 1: scramble to get it back, you actually make it worse.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You're struggling and struggling, and that struggle is causing more
- 1:27Speaker 1: and more resistance, and you're pulling yourself more and more
- 1:30Speaker 1: out of that flow, when in reality, what can actually
- 1:33Speaker 1: happen is that this regression or this slowing down, or
- 1:37Speaker 1: this feeling of plateauing could actually be an indicator that
- 1:42Speaker 1: we need to pause and pivot. It's often, if not always,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it ends up being a good thing. You need to
- 1:49Speaker 1: remind yourself that nothing grows all year round, at least
- 1:53Speaker 1: not at the same pace. Nothing. Most things in nature,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and most animals have their slow periods, or their periods
- 2:00Speaker 1: where they're recovering, or their periods where they're kind of
- 2:03Speaker 1: doing a rebuild. Even your own muscles can't be worked
- 2:06Speaker 1: that hard all week long. If you don't rest your muscles,
- 2:10Speaker 1: they can't then rebuild, regroup and grow more. If you
- 2:13Speaker 1: don't sleep and slow down, you don't get smarter then,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and you become forgetful. Right Whenever you're hit with the downtime,
- 2:22Speaker 1: the most destructive thing you can do is to beat
- 2:25Speaker 1: down on yourself and resist a push and push and
- 2:27Speaker 1: push and push. This whole idea that you've got a
- 2:29Speaker 1: hussle twenty four seven is a hoax. You can't be
- 2:33Speaker 1: doing that to yourself. You need to cut the cycle
- 2:36Speaker 1: and ask yourself, is this a time where I need
- 2:40Speaker 1: to regroup? Do I need to crack something open? And
- 2:43Speaker 1: is this my opportunity to throw something out, throw what's
- 2:47Speaker 1: not working and regroup or possibly pivot and keep going.
- 2:51Speaker 1: What can I do right now so I'm ready for
- 2:53Speaker 1: my next phase? Or do I need a little bit
- 2:57Speaker 1: of a break here so I can feel really replenished?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Am I fatigued? Am I tired? Have I been wanting
- 3:03Speaker 1: to shake up what I'm doing and this is now
- 3:06Speaker 1: the time to do it because I'm reaching Like a
- 3:09Speaker 1: slow period, you right now can turn around how you're
- 3:13Speaker 1: feeling about something anything by changing how you approach it.
- 3:17Speaker 1: If you change how you interpret it and how you
- 3:20Speaker 1: deal with it, you can change how you feel about it,
- 3:22Speaker 1: whether it's career, relationship, fitness, mental health, or your own
- 3:26Speaker 1: journey of healing, healing from an injury, healing from a
- 3:29Speaker 1: broken heart, or healing from burnout or defeat. You have
- 3:33Speaker 1: done so much to get to where you are and
- 3:36Speaker 1: be who you are. Fuck off the negative thoughts telling
- 3:39Speaker 1: you that it was all luck and that it's all over.
- 3:41Speaker 1: What a fucking lie, What a fucking lie.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It was you.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It was all you, and it's always been you. This
- 3:48Speaker 1: is just a reset, and a reseset is the most
- 3:51Speaker 1: beautiful thing. A reset is what takes you to the
- 3:54Speaker 1: next level. You can't get to the next level without
- 3:57Speaker 1: having a little pause. Even look at steps. Every time
- 3:59Speaker 1: you step level there's that kind of end bit, and
- 4:02Speaker 1: then there's the lift end bit and a lift. Everything
- 4:05Speaker 1: has pauses in it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Okay, remember when COVID hit and a lot of us
- 4:26Speaker 2: had the opportunity, While we didn't want to, we had
- 4:29Speaker 2: the opportunity to reassess what we were doing with our lives.
- 4:32Speaker 1: We didn't ask for it, we definitely didn't want to.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But it was a forced slow down and reset, and
- 4:39Speaker 1: for so many people, changes were made and things were learnt,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and people grew so much. They learned what they wanted,
- 4:47Speaker 1: they learned what they could leave behind, they learned what
- 4:49Speaker 1: they could do with their lives, and now they're more
- 4:52Speaker 1: stronger because of it. You are now stronger because of
- 4:56Speaker 1: these plateaus and quote unquote setbacks. This is your re
- 5:00Speaker 1: set this is your building phase. This is your healing,
- 5:03Speaker 1: recovery and build phase. Then you grow. Okay, never look
- 5:07Speaker 1: at this slowing down period or something not going the
- 5:10Speaker 1: way that it's going as you being an impostor or
- 5:13Speaker 1: as the reason things worked out in the past was
- 5:15Speaker 1: because of luck. The reason they worked out was because
- 5:18Speaker 1: of you, and because of that, things are going to
- 5:21Speaker 1: continue to work out for you. Don't worry about the
- 5:24Speaker 1: pace and don't worry about the exact deadlines. Just know
- 5:27Speaker 1: what you're doing right now and listen to your body
- 5:30Speaker 1: when you need to rest and regroup. The most creative
- 5:33Speaker 1: times are when you're resting. Okay, love you so much,
- 5:37Speaker 1: Love you, and always remember be kind to yourself, be
- 5:40Speaker 1: kind to your brain. Don't take shit from anyone, fucking
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't take fucking shit from anyone, and especially don't take
- 5:45Speaker 1: shit from yourself. I want you to have your back.
- 5:48Speaker 1: No matter what, I've got your back, You're going to
- 5:50Speaker 1: have your back.
