- 2:40Speaker 3: George and Kathy Thomas. Caitlin, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, thanks for having me back.
- 2:45Speaker 3: You are the veteran of the show. Kathy's making her debut,
- 2:48Speaker 3: but you've been on before, so you're old hand at
- 2:50Speaker 3: this right. Oh yeah, definitely, you know what you're doing.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Yeah, glad to have Kathy here with me though.
- 2:54Speaker 3: All right, it's Kathy, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:56Speaker 7: Thank you, so much.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I hope the shows everything that you thought it would be.
- 2:59Speaker 7: I'm sure it will.
- 3:01Speaker 3: It's just keep your expectations lock, all right, So Caitlin
- 3:05Speaker 3: tell us overall, and we'll get into specifics what's going
- 3:08Speaker 3: on with the summit, the wins, the whares, the house, Yeah,
- 3:11Speaker 3: all the details.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Well, it is a twenty twenty five women's Leadership Summit,
- 3:16Speaker 6: and this year our theme is powerful Voices, so women
- 3:19Speaker 6: have truly become powerful voices in business and reshaping what
- 3:23Speaker 6: leadership looks like in the twenty first century. So we
- 3:26Speaker 6: are really excited about it in its seventh year, and
- 3:29Speaker 6: it has turned into one of the chambers flagship events.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Kathy Thomas is actually the one who launched the Women's
- 3:35Speaker 6: Leadership Summit with the Chamber, so I'm gonna let her
- 3:38Speaker 6: take it over.
- 3:38Speaker 7: Go ahead, Ken, Yeah, I just thought it would be
- 3:41Speaker 7: a great idea and it was something that the women
- 3:43Speaker 7: of West Virginia need. So in twenty eighteen we started
- 3:48Speaker 7: this at the Greenbrier. Initially it was in December. We've
- 3:52Speaker 7: moved it to a March event this year. It's on
- 3:55Speaker 7: March twenty sixth and twenty seventh at the Greenbrier. It's
- 3:59Speaker 7: a two day event with lots of amazing speakers.
- 4:02Speaker 3: All right, talked about some of those speakers.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Yeah, we're excited. We have over two dozen expert speakers
- 4:08Speaker 6: this year. Really excited for that. And again, it's all
- 4:11Speaker 6: about using powerful voices. So we'll hear from experts and
- 4:14Speaker 6: finance leadership, healthcare, architecture, career growth. And here's some inspiring
- 4:19Speaker 6: West Virginia stories to highlight. A couple of the speakers,
- 4:24Speaker 6: we have Jessica Lynch. She is a West Virginia native,
- 4:28Speaker 6: retired US Army soldier and former prisoner of war. You know,
- 4:31Speaker 6: I feel like a lot of West Virginians probably know
- 4:33Speaker 6: her story.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Yeah, it's actually been about twenty two years.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Don't tell me that. That's the first thing. That's the
- 4:41Speaker 3: first thing. When you mentioned her name, I was taking
- 4:43Speaker 3: in my head. How long, agoes that. It's hard to
- 4:44Speaker 3: believe it's been that long.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Yeah, twenty two years. It was in two thousand and
- 4:48Speaker 6: three when she was captured for nine days and then
- 4:51Speaker 6: rescued in the first rescue or the first American PW
- 4:55Speaker 6: rescue since World War Two. So we're excited about having her.
- 4:59Speaker 6: She going to share her story of perseverance. We have
- 5:03Speaker 6: Ali Smith, the first Lady of Marshall University, co founder
- 5:06Speaker 6: Yes Gohard, co founder of the Wingdow Wing Foundation, and
- 5:10Speaker 6: a lawyer. She's going to be motoring, moderating a discussion
- 5:14Speaker 6: with women who've moved to West Virginia through Ascen West Virginia,
- 5:17Speaker 6: and they're going to talk about not only finding a
- 5:19Speaker 6: home in the mountain state, but also how they found community.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So the backup on the US in West Virginia, I
- 5:24Speaker 3: know what it is most of our listeners do, but
- 5:26Speaker 3: just in case, explain thes in West Virginia to give
- 5:28Speaker 3: me ten or fifteen seconds on that program.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Yeah, as in West Virginia is a pilot program where
- 5:34Speaker 6: remote workers were encouraged to come into the state. And
- 5:37Speaker 6: I believe that they got some money for coming in
- 5:40Speaker 6: and moving to West Virginia and working here. And it
- 5:43Speaker 6: was all about live, working and playing in West Virginia
- 5:46Speaker 6: and exploring the great outdoors. So I think, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 6: the incentive to come to West Virginia you get money,
- 5:52Speaker 6: you know, you get new home.
- 5:53Speaker 8: And then when they got.
- 5:54Speaker 6: There, I heard a lot of stories about how they
- 5:57Speaker 6: started to become involved in their community and running for
- 5:59Speaker 6: office and you know, in the PTA and volunteering. So
- 6:02Speaker 6: hearing those stories just really inspired me being a transplant
- 6:05Speaker 6: to West Virginia myself. You know, they really showed the
- 6:10Speaker 6: good in West Virginia.
- 6:11Speaker 3: All right, So we got Elie Smith and we got
- 6:13Speaker 3: Jessica Lynch And you said over two dozen speakers. Yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 3: I mean, I know you can't name them all, but
- 6:18Speaker 3: give us a couple more.
- 6:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Patrece Harris she broke barriers when she was elected as
- 6:25Speaker 6: president of the American Medical Association from twenty twenty to
- 6:28Speaker 6: twenty twenty one.
- 6:29Speaker 7: So during COVID.
- 6:31Speaker 6: She actually grew up in Bluefield, West Virginia, and has
- 6:34Speaker 6: a deep connection to her roots. She was featured in
- 6:37Speaker 6: Chamber magazine and she was telling the story about Sunday Suppers,
- 6:43Speaker 6: which I mean a lot of that's a lot of
- 6:44Speaker 6: family traditions and in West Virginia and beyond, and how
- 6:48Speaker 6: important those Sunday Suppers were to her in shaping her
- 6:51Speaker 6: life and then shaping her career and being a WU fan.
- 6:55Speaker 6: And she's you know, on the w Board of Governors.
- 6:57Speaker 6: So she is going to share her story and lessons
- 7:00Speaker 6: learned from Sunday Supper.
- 7:02Speaker 7: Excited to hear that.
- 7:04Speaker 6: And we also have Deb Dagner, who is president of
- 7:07Speaker 6: the Leadership Bridge. She is a certified professional coach with
- 7:11Speaker 6: over twenty years of experience, and she'll be speaking about
- 7:15Speaker 6: creating and shaping your leadership presence.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I mean, it sounds like you got to again over
- 7:20Speaker 3: two dozen speakers. Kathy, you were the one that I
- 7:23Speaker 3: guess kind of got this thing up and rolling, as
- 7:25Speaker 3: she said twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen. In twenty eighteen, obviously
- 7:30Speaker 3: when you start things off, you want everything to be
- 7:32Speaker 3: a success. I mean, did you dream though that it
- 7:34Speaker 3: would get to be this big as well as well?
- 7:36Speaker 7: Not the first year. My goal was one hundred attendees,
- 7:41Speaker 7: and we got there the first year, and it's just
- 7:43Speaker 7: grown every year since. Last year we surpassed five hundred
- 7:48Speaker 7: and we actually had to move the event to the
- 7:50Speaker 7: largest room of the Greenbrier.
- 7:52Speaker 3: That's good stuff.
- 7:52Speaker 7: So it has really grown and it's shaping up to
- 7:55Speaker 7: be even bigger this year.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Talking to Kathy Thomas and Caitlin George about the West
- 8:00Speaker 3: Virginia Chamber of Commerce Women something happening later this month,
- 8:04Speaker 3: the Dave Allen Showing five Indyline brought to you part

- 8:17Speaker 3: Barbersville at Milton for more business snapfitness dot Com. Talk
- 8:21Speaker 3: about who this is aimed at. I mean, obviously all
- 8:25Speaker 3: women you know in a business world or wherever are
- 8:28Speaker 3: invited to a tend But ideally, who's going to benefit
- 8:30Speaker 3: Kathy or Kaylee the most from this?
- 8:33Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it is everyone. We have high school students,
- 8:36Speaker 7: we have college students, we have CEOs and retirees and
- 8:41Speaker 7: people in the prom of their jobs right now. So
- 8:46Speaker 7: it goes across everyone.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And let's talk about those younger folks coming there, the
- 8:51Speaker 3: high school and the and the college. How important is it,
- 8:55Speaker 3: in your guys opinion, for those young young ladies to
- 8:59Speaker 3: see women that have risen up to these levels and
- 9:03Speaker 3: doing the great things, whether it's in the world of
- 9:05Speaker 3: business or whatever. I mean to talk about the importance
- 9:08Speaker 3: of them seeing that success.
- 9:11Speaker 7: The Chamber and the Chamber Foundation together provide scholarships for
- 9:15Speaker 7: college students and high school students from across the state.
- 9:19Speaker 7: So last year, we had about thirty high school students
- 9:22Speaker 7: at about twenty five college students through this mentorship program.
- 9:27Speaker 7: And some of the girls were from McDowell County, and
- 9:31Speaker 7: I mean, they were amazed to be there with all
- 9:33Speaker 7: these women at the Greenbrier. They heard amazing stories. And
- 9:37Speaker 7: we do a mentorship event while we're there, and we
- 9:40Speaker 7: pull all of those students into a room with lots
- 9:43Speaker 7: of women leaders and we see them. They've gotten scholarships,
- 9:48Speaker 7: they've gotten jobs. A lot of things happen there. They
- 9:51Speaker 7: have a lot of opportunities that they wouldn't have otherwise.
- 9:54Speaker 3: All right, so give us the details on sign ups
- 9:58Speaker 3: and deadlines and things of that nature, and you how
- 10:00Speaker 3: do you do it, and when's the last moment to
- 10:02Speaker 3: do it?
- 10:03Speaker 6: I guess, yeah, Well there's still time, so that's a
- 10:05Speaker 6: good news. You can go online on WV Chamber dot
- 10:09Speaker 6: com and find out all the registration information, booking information,
- 10:13Speaker 6: We have our agenda, we have a spot where you
- 10:16Speaker 6: can meet and learn more about the speakers. So there's
- 10:18Speaker 6: still time. And really we'll keep it open until a
- 10:21Speaker 6: couple of days before the event. So even if you
- 10:24Speaker 6: know you're just thinking now, well maybe I'm thinking about it.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Maybe it's right for me. You have a couple more
- 10:30Speaker 6: weeks to you know, really commit and we would.
- 10:34Speaker 7: Love to have you.
- 10:35Speaker 3: And the date again, The dates again.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Yeah, the dates are March twenty sixth and twenty seventh
- 10:40Speaker 6: and it is at the Green Bar Resort and White
- 10:42Speaker 6: Seal Fur Springs.

- 14:13Speaker 8: Yes, haven't you heard?
- 14:14Speaker 3: Oh?
- 14:15Speaker 8: Well, good I didn't know. It'll give us time to
- 14:16Speaker 8: find somebody to do it.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Somebody qualified. Fred, of course, referring to the announcement made
- 14:22Speaker 3: on talk line on Friday that starting March twenty fourth,
- 14:24Speaker 3: there will be a new show airing on a lot
- 14:28Speaker 3: of the Metro news stations, a lot of the Metro
- 14:30Speaker 3: news including this one from noon to three, Metro News
- 14:32Speaker 3: Midday hosted by Amanda Baron from WOWK TV thirteen and
- 14:38Speaker 3: seeing of course statewide on the show Tonight Live and
- 14:42Speaker 3: Yours Truly. So somebody asked me the other day, Fred,
- 14:46Speaker 3: what i'd still do the local show then out to
- 14:47Speaker 3: tend Yes.
- 14:48Speaker 8: Absolutely, it's radio.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I mean they're paying me a crap ton of money.
- 14:53Speaker 8: And what would say to do is get you to
- 14:55Speaker 8: work tendall noon, Yeah, in three to six if you can, well,
- 14:59Speaker 8: that's fine, that's fine.
- 15:00Speaker 3: All right. So, first of all, how was the tournament
- 15:03Speaker 3: you just called the mountainst Tournament.
- 15:05Speaker 8: That's one of the better tournaments really I've ever been
- 15:08Speaker 8: associated with Mountain East Conference. So many great, great basketball
- 15:16Speaker 8: players in that league and coaches and you know, you
- 15:19Speaker 8: go back to times when Joe Miszoula was coaching at
- 15:22Speaker 8: Fairmont State and now he's the head coach of the
- 15:23Speaker 8: Boston Celtics with an NBA title under his belt. And
- 15:27Speaker 8: it goes back Jared Calhoun who's now Utah State. So
- 15:31Speaker 8: there's a lot of great coaches that have been there
- 15:32Speaker 8: a lot of great players. For the first time since
- 15:34Speaker 8: nineteen eighty six, Fairmont State and the men and the
- 15:38Speaker 8: women both won the tournament yesterday, and that's again the
- 15:42Speaker 8: first time that had happened the same team since nineteen
- 15:44Speaker 8: eighty six. So a lot of talent, no doubt about it.
- 15:47Speaker 8: I think, what's happening now with that tournament. And they
- 15:51Speaker 8: just signed a new three year agreement to stay in Wheeling.
- 15:53Speaker 8: Beautiful place. West Banko Arena is the perfect place I
- 15:56Speaker 8: think to have That tournament holds about four thousand people
- 16:01Speaker 8: and West ce Liberty really packed the place out with
- 16:04Speaker 8: Fairmont State yesterday. So good time, good time, great great basketball.
- 16:08Speaker 3: In the championship game went to triple triple.
- 16:11Speaker 8: Over, triple overtime. Yes, wow, that's good. It really is
- 16:14Speaker 8: good stuff. It's good basketball and it's a lot of fun.
- 16:17Speaker 8: And now the next couple of weeks we devote our
- 16:21Speaker 8: time to the girls and then the boys.
- 16:23Speaker 3: But Dave Island Show and five Eddieline Brown to you,

- 16:39Speaker 3: Of course, the girls this week give me the overall
- 16:43Speaker 3: of the view on the On the girls state tournament,
- 16:46Speaker 3: it's it's always a good time.
- 16:47Speaker 8: It is. It's definitely a good time. And of course
- 16:50Speaker 8: you have eight teams in each class, so they have
- 16:52Speaker 8: a total of thirty two teams, and we have seventeen
- 16:56Speaker 8: of the teams that were there last year coming back,
- 16:58Speaker 8: which means we've got fifteen brand teams this year. And
- 17:02Speaker 8: the most that return was in Class Triple A where
- 17:05Speaker 8: Nitro won it all last year. Nitro's back as the
- 17:08Speaker 8: number one seed and they will start it tomorrow night
- 17:12Speaker 8: at seven fifteen. They played Lewis County. So it's Triple
- 17:15Speaker 8: A and Single A tomorrow because it's kind of mixed
- 17:20Speaker 8: up it or Double A mixes it all together and
- 17:23Speaker 8: you get all the teams done and we get to
- 17:25Speaker 8: semi final Friday. But a lot of good teams. I
- 17:30Speaker 8: was talking yesterday, I was in Parkersburg meeting with the coaches,
- 17:34Speaker 8: and you know you hear it, well, every team is
- 17:37Speaker 8: good in Class Triple A, in particular, I think every
- 17:40Speaker 8: team one through eight could win the thing.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Really, that's how and it's not always it's not. I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 3: they're all good teams, but sometimes when you look at
- 17:47Speaker 3: at these games on paper, you know, you narrow it
- 17:49Speaker 3: down to Okay, in this class, there's maybe four teams
- 17:52Speaker 3: that could win it right two or whatever. Or sometimes
- 17:55Speaker 3: you say this team's gonna win it all no matter what.
- 17:57Speaker 3: But you're saying that there's that many teams that have
- 17:59Speaker 3: the possibility to win.
- 18:00Speaker 8: In Class Triple A in particular, I mean, we have
- 18:02Speaker 8: some really really good tea. The number three seed is
- 18:05Speaker 8: Greenbrier East United States Senator Jim Justice's team. They're twenty
- 18:09Speaker 8: three to one, and I mean they have a solid team.
- 18:12Speaker 8: Their only game they lost this year was to Nitro
- 18:14Speaker 8: at Nitro, And of course Nitro is the number one
- 18:17Speaker 8: seed coming in. But Wayne is there, Cistonville is there,
- 18:20Speaker 8: East Fairmount is there. I mentioned Greenbrier East, Kaiser Grafton.
- 18:24Speaker 8: Grafton has lost only one time this season. They were
- 18:28Speaker 8: the only only undefeated team on the state boys. They're
- 18:30Speaker 8: girls for a long time. They didn't lose in Jo
- 18:31Speaker 8: just a couple of weeks ago. So it's going to
- 18:34Speaker 8: be a great tournament looking forward to it. Quada, we've
- 18:37Speaker 8: got in Triple A, for example, we've got the state
- 18:40Speaker 8: champion back and that's Nitro. But in Quada, Wheeling Park
- 18:44Speaker 8: was the state champion last year. They're not back. Wyoming
- 18:47Speaker 8: East in Class Double A they will be back to
- 18:50Speaker 8: defend their title, and Cameron. So three of the four
- 18:53Speaker 8: state champions from last year are all back.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Who are some of the key players that you're looking at?
- 19:00Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I mean, we talked about the teams,
- 19:02Speaker 3: but who is a couple of players that ye're kind
- 19:04Speaker 3: of circling saying, I really want to see this young
- 19:08Speaker 3: lady play.
- 19:08Speaker 8: Gilmour County has twin sisters, the Dobbins twins. They're both
- 19:14Speaker 8: about six foot three and they're very, very talented. They're
- 19:17Speaker 8: always fun to watch. Greenbrier East as an outstanding young shooter.
- 19:21Speaker 8: Kennedy Stewart is her name. So you know throughout the tournament,
- 19:27Speaker 8: when you get to Morgantown, you've got the Kellogg young
- 19:31Speaker 8: Lady and you have the Freeze young lady. So you
- 19:34Speaker 8: have the two head coaches of the Mountaineer of Basketball programs,
- 19:37Speaker 8: the women and the man is their daughters play for
- 19:39Speaker 8: Morgantown and they're very good, I mean very good.
- 19:41Speaker 3: And that's got to be a unique situation, I would
- 19:43Speaker 3: think nationwide. I don't know what other states can say
- 19:46Speaker 3: that they have something like that. Who are a couple
- 19:50Speaker 3: of teams that maybe I know who the top rank
- 19:52Speaker 3: the top seeds are, But give me a couple of teams,
- 19:54Speaker 3: Fred that you think could really surprise people this time.
- 19:58Speaker 8: Wow. Yeah, let's go to Triple A. We mentioned Nitro
- 20:03Speaker 8: of course being the number one seed. I think Wayne
- 20:06Speaker 8: has got a good chance. I definitely think Crafton, I
- 20:09Speaker 8: think green Bery East has a really good chance of
- 20:11Speaker 8: coming out of there. In Class Quad A, Spring Valley
- 20:16Speaker 8: is a team that you know more for football than
- 20:20Speaker 8: you do anything else, really, But Bo Miller's got a
- 20:23Speaker 8: really fine team. They're the number one seed. Do they win?
- 20:26Speaker 8: I don't know They've You've got Morgantown down in the
- 20:29Speaker 8: lower part of that bracket. So I think Morgantown has
- 20:32Speaker 8: a better way to get to the state championship game.
- 20:36Speaker 8: They probably will have to go through maybe George Washington
- 20:39Speaker 8: or Parkersburg. George Washington probably in GW Jamilmaster always has
- 20:44Speaker 8: a great team. So I think those two classes could
- 20:47Speaker 8: be very very competitive and single A and double A.
- 20:50Speaker 8: Wheeling Central is in Double A, Charleston Catholic is in
- 20:53Speaker 8: Double A. Logan is in Double A and talk with
- 20:57Speaker 8: their head coach yesterday and he's looking forward to but
- 21:00Speaker 8: he gets to open up with Charleston Catholic. That won't
- 21:02Speaker 8: be easy at all. Is a great team, so it's
- 21:05Speaker 8: gonna be a lot of fun. We look forward to
- 21:06Speaker 8: it each year. And A games start Tuesday, they end Saturday.
- 21:10Speaker 8: We'll be back in Parkersburg Sunday, and then we'll do
- 21:12Speaker 8: the boys next week.
- 21:13Speaker 3: All right, before I let you go, because you know,
- 21:15Speaker 3: from time to time i'll have you and Speedy Bevans
- 21:17Speaker 3: on the show to talk about, you know, legendary games
- 21:19Speaker 3: and whatever. But I'm gonna put you on the spot here.
- 21:21Speaker 8: Wonderful.
- 21:23Speaker 3: He's so tired he does go out Anyway. If I
- 21:26Speaker 3: had to ask you, Fred to tell me what in
- 21:29Speaker 3: state tournament wise, what's maybe one of the better games
- 21:32Speaker 3: you ever saw and one of the better players that
- 21:35Speaker 3: you ever saw?
- 21:36Speaker 8: Well, I think definitely one of the better games I saw.
- 21:41Speaker 8: Let's get to go to two. Okay, okay, two games
- 21:43Speaker 8: real quick two had when you know Oj Mayo and
- 21:49Speaker 8: Patrick Patterson of that crew at Huntington. I mean, if
- 21:52Speaker 8: you like just pure basketball talent high school on the floor,
- 21:56Speaker 8: that was the game to watch. I mean it was
- 21:58Speaker 8: just unbelievable uns, the passes, the shots outside. It was
- 22:01Speaker 8: a really really great team that Huntingson. Wont it all
- 22:03Speaker 8: that year? Another team another game was Beckley and Brooke
- 22:09Speaker 8: and Beckley trailed by twenty points going to the fourth
- 22:13Speaker 8: quarter and won the game.
- 22:15Speaker 3: What year was that, approximately.
- 22:19Speaker 8: Ninety two maybe nineteen two and three, So that one
- 22:23Speaker 8: really stands out and one of the outstanding players, no
- 22:25Speaker 8: doubt about it. Herbie Brooks. I had the opportunity to
- 22:28Speaker 8: call his game when he played for the Mullins Rebels
- 22:31Speaker 8: and he scored fifty points in the game without the
- 22:34Speaker 8: aid of the three point line. It wasn't available back then.
- 22:37Speaker 8: And that record still stands, which surprises me a little
- 22:40Speaker 8: bit with all the talent that's come through there, like
- 22:42Speaker 8: the Oj Mayos and the Patrick Patterson's, that that record
- 22:45Speaker 8: has not been broken. Still, fifty points in a single
- 22:47Speaker 8: game is the record. And Herbie Brooks did that and
- 22:51Speaker 8: then went on to start West Virginia University and he
- 22:54Speaker 8: coached for a long time, So there's been a lot
- 22:57Speaker 8: of great talent coming through that tournament.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Anytime that you mentioned the name her Herby Brooks, my
- 23:01Speaker 3: mind goes back to Jack Fleming calling the games of
- 23:04Speaker 3: Herbie Brooks, and that's when they also had Chris Brooks
- 23:07Speaker 3: on the team at the same time, and I can
- 23:09Speaker 3: remember he referred him as Herbie and Big Brooks. You know,
- 23:12Speaker 3: Big Brooks was Chris Booker.
- 23:13Speaker 8: Definitely.
- 23:14Speaker 3: All right, So the games, fred will be on the air.
- 23:18Speaker 3: We're going to have here on our station. Of course,
- 23:20Speaker 3: most of the daytime games will be on Charleston's ESPN Radio.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I do understand there will be some on CHS. We'll
- 23:25Speaker 3: get to all that a little bit later. On evening
- 23:27Speaker 3: sessions are on five ADWCCHS or here in the Voice.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Charleston also bringing in the Metro News television folks in
- 23:34Speaker 3: there as well, So if you haven't already downloaded the
- 23:36Speaker 3: Metro News TV app, cheap plug there, Sir Frederick. We
- 23:39Speaker 3: need to make sure that we get people to do that.
- 23:41Speaker 8: Do that, and it's good to see that stations around
- 23:45Speaker 8: the state are picking up the rock. We'll have a
- 23:47Speaker 8: network of about forty four radio station state Line I mean.
- 23:50Speaker 3: It's a special time, and high school sports are big
- 23:54Speaker 3: all over the country, but I mean, this is a
- 23:56Speaker 3: time when West Virginia, you know, I think and it's
- 23:59Speaker 3: because it is in March and everybody's had a you know,
- 24:01Speaker 3: everybody's looking forward to the to the hopefully warm weather
- 24:04Speaker 3: and everything, and there's just something about being at the
- 24:06Speaker 3: coliseum and convention Center this week and next the two
- 24:09Speaker 3: most magical weeks of the with all due respect to
- 24:12Speaker 3: you know, baseball and football, the two best weeks for
- 24:16Speaker 3: high school sports in West Virginia, in my opinion, are
- 24:18Speaker 3: the girls and the boys state basketball tournament.
- 24:20Speaker 8: Always remember Dale Miller who started it with for the network,
- 24:24Speaker 8: the coverage that we have, and he said it is
- 24:27Speaker 8: the biggest thing we do all years on network. Sure,
- 24:31Speaker 8: no doubt about it and so and we treat it
- 24:33Speaker 8: that way as well. We've been. This will be our
- 24:35Speaker 8: fortieth year. Yeah, that's a long time. As it's a
- 24:39Speaker 8: long time. I'm not even forty years old yet. You
- 24:41Speaker 8: might not have an IQ forty you're forty years old.
- 24:45Speaker 3: That's my man. Fred Prochinger, the boys of high school
- 24:47Speaker 3: sports of West Virginia. Fred, thanks a lot, my pleasure,
- 24:49Speaker 3: but we'll be listening and watching, and again an opportunity
- 24:52Speaker 3: to tell you if you have not yet downloaded the
- 24:54Speaker 3: Metro News TV app. Make sure you do and get

- 27:57Speaker 3: for having me on. I'm I'm glad to be here again.
- 27:58Speaker 3: All right, so let's talk about the podcasts. Give me
- 28:01Speaker 3: time to you know, plug the podcast. This thing is huge,
- 28:04Speaker 3: it's doing very well. It's doing Look, I mean, I'll
- 28:07Speaker 3: just throw the numbers right out to you. I average
- 28:09Speaker 3: around one thousand listeners per episode. I know what local
- 28:14Speaker 3: podcasts look like. I'm very proud of that.
- 28:15Speaker 4: I think that's I think it's really good and so
- 28:19Speaker 4: people enjoy it, you know, And the neat thing is
- 28:21Speaker 4: is see on the back end, I'm hosted by bus Sprout.
- 28:24Speaker 4: So once you get up to a certain threshold, they'll
- 28:26Speaker 4: allow you to throw in advertising. And these advertisers can
- 28:30Speaker 4: come from anywhere around the nation. They kind of insert
- 28:33Speaker 4: the advertising in the podcast. But I've declined to do
- 28:36Speaker 4: that because you know, I don't know who the advertiser
- 28:39Speaker 4: is going to be, whether I would endorse them or not.
- 28:41Speaker 4: So of course I would entertain local advertising West Virginia
- 28:45Speaker 4: centric type advertising, which we haven't done yet. You know,
- 28:47Speaker 4: everything's provided for free to the listener. But if that
- 28:50Speaker 4: came about, we would do that. But I'm not going
- 28:52Speaker 4: to do the national stuff and all that. I want
- 28:53Speaker 4: it to be very West Virginia centric, even though I
- 28:56Speaker 4: have listeners from all over the nation, so it's doing
- 28:58Speaker 4: very well. But I do want to tell you congratulations
- 29:01Speaker 4: on your big news that I heard last week, and
- 29:03Speaker 4: I know you talked about a little bit earlier on
- 29:05Speaker 4: this show. That's that's really cool and exciting. I told
- 29:07Speaker 4: you if it has a little bit of politics and
- 29:09Speaker 4: news in it, I'll be listening.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Of course, I have no doubt that that that you
- 29:13Speaker 3: will be. And if I'll go ahead and give you
- 29:16Speaker 3: another free plug for the podcast here, if somebody's listening
- 29:18Speaker 3: today and they would like to advertise on your party,
- 29:20Speaker 3: doesn't mean you can stop advertising here.
- 29:22Speaker 8: Yes, you got to do both.
- 29:23Speaker 3: But what's the best way to just go to your
- 29:27Speaker 3: what's the best way to.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Do Yeah, just email me at Tony m Hoodge at
- 29:30Speaker 4: gmail dot com, Tony Mhodge at gmail dot com. Or
- 29:34Speaker 4: you can find me on on all social media Tony
- 29:36Speaker 4: m Hodge. Or you can look up the Viewpoint podcast
- 29:39Speaker 4: on Twitter. So there's many ways to reach out to us. Yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 4: just reach out if you want to advertise, I've already
- 29:44Speaker 4: told you the numbers, and so if you if you
- 29:47Speaker 4: want to know, if you want to get your word
- 29:49Speaker 4: out there to the people, it's a really good way.
- 29:51Speaker 4: And look, podcasting, as you know, as West Virginia Radio knows,
- 29:55Speaker 4: podcasting is part of the future.
- 29:56Speaker 8: You guys are doing it. You have to be in
- 29:58Speaker 8: the podcast world.
- 30:00Speaker 4: That's how especially a lot of younger people, that's how
- 30:02Speaker 4: they consume their information.
- 30:03Speaker 8: So it's a good, good platform to be in.
- 30:06Speaker 3: All right, I got a quick text here. It has
- 30:07Speaker 3: nothing to do with you, and I want to get
- 30:09Speaker 3: it out of here since Dave. Great to hear Fred
- 30:11Speaker 3: Persinger on the program this morning. A true sports legend.
- 30:14Speaker 8: Well, he is a legend.
- 30:14Speaker 4: I said that to you when you came and got
- 30:16Speaker 4: me out of the green room. You said, hey, you
- 30:17Speaker 4: got to follow Fred Persinger, and I said, yeah, that's
- 30:19Speaker 4: a that's quite a job. He's a radio legend, memorable voice.
- 30:23Speaker 4: And I do enjoy the basketball tournament. I don't always
- 30:25Speaker 4: get to attend, but I listened to a lot of
- 30:27Speaker 4: the games. As you know, I'm a big radio consumer,
- 30:30Speaker 4: so I listened to the games.
- 30:31Speaker 8: But I agree with you.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I heard what you said earlier that that's probably the
- 30:35Speaker 4: best sporting event that we have in Westrovis.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Shure, it is really good, not even close, but Ave

- 31:07Speaker 3: Baseball dot com. All right, let's get to the uh
- 31:09Speaker 3: to the the political stuff. Now, legislature. I know you
- 31:13Speaker 3: watch it very very closely if you're not in attendance,
- 31:16Speaker 3: which you frequently are. Overall, very generic question and we'll
- 31:21Speaker 3: get into specifics. Overall, your take on the legislative sasshion
- 31:24Speaker 3: so far, well, look, I mean, I think they're doing
- 31:26Speaker 3: a good job. There was a lot of turnover in
- 31:29Speaker 3: the Senate and in the House we have a lot
- 31:32Speaker 3: of new members. We have less Democratic members, which I'm
- 31:35Speaker 3: very pleased with, but we have we have a lot
- 31:37Speaker 3: of new members, and so there's you know, there's a
- 31:40Speaker 3: learning curve there. We have a new Senate president, you know,
- 31:43Speaker 3: and he's he's trying to get his uh, you know,
- 31:45Speaker 3: find his bearings and how to and how to lead
- 31:47Speaker 3: the Senate and so I you know, look, it's it's
- 31:50Speaker 3: moving a little bit slow. Part of that's by design,
- 31:53Speaker 3: especially on the House side. I mean we we you know,
- 31:56Speaker 3: we got updates ahead of the session talking about how
- 31:59Speaker 3: they can many process would be slowed down a bit.
- 32:02Speaker 3: On the House side, you know, we went from quantity
- 32:05Speaker 3: where Speaker Hanshaw what says they want to go from
- 32:07Speaker 3: quantity over to quality of bills. And so if you
- 32:11Speaker 3: look on the Legislature's website, there's many, many, many less
- 32:14Speaker 3: House bills that have gone through even on committee in
- 32:17Speaker 3: the committee side. Then there are Senate but even on
- 32:20Speaker 3: the Senate side, it's a little bit slower. So I
- 32:23Speaker 3: just think with the high turnover, the new leadership, we
- 32:27Speaker 3: have a new governor. You know, everybody's trying to get
- 32:29Speaker 3: to know each other, and so the session's going a
- 32:32Speaker 3: little bit slower.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Now.
- 32:33Speaker 8: There's been some talk out there.
- 32:34Speaker 4: About such a huge focus on social issues and maybe
- 32:38Speaker 4: not as much focus on economic issues. I understand that,
- 32:40Speaker 4: and I see that. I, for one, am a person
- 32:44Speaker 4: that believes that you need both. I listen to your
- 32:46Speaker 4: show often. I listen to Talk Line with Dave and TJ.
- 32:50Speaker 4: And you seem to have it's almost like two sides
- 32:53Speaker 4: pitted against each other. Well, you have your economic development
- 32:56Speaker 4: people and you have your social people, and they're kind
- 32:59Speaker 4: of clashing or or fighting for power. You know, I'm
- 33:03Speaker 4: not that guy. I think both are very important and
- 33:06Speaker 4: there's got you got to have room for both. And
- 33:08Speaker 4: so you know, the Senate just passed a big economic
- 33:11Speaker 4: development bill just last week, sent a bill five point
- 33:12Speaker 4: fifty two, I think is the name that's going to
- 33:14Speaker 4: allow for these data centers or other big industrial type
- 33:19Speaker 4: or manufacturing type facilities to come in and be able
- 33:22Speaker 4: to use their own power grid, and which includes Cole
- 33:26Speaker 4: and Rupy. Phillips had a good amendment on that bill
- 33:29Speaker 4: that he did on the House on the floor of
- 33:31Speaker 4: the Senate.
- 33:31Speaker 2: And so.
- 33:33Speaker 8: I have heard though that.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Some have said leadership on the Senate side wanted to
- 33:38Speaker 4: get some of these social bills out of the way.
- 33:40Speaker 4: That way they can focus very much in depth on
- 33:42Speaker 4: the Economic Development Bill. So we'll see what happened. I'm
- 33:45Speaker 4: very I'm pleased it's slow, but you have to give
- 33:48Speaker 4: these guys a little bit of leeway.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Well, speaking of slow, and I had to and you
- 33:52Speaker 3: kind of addressed this, but I wanted to bring this up.
- 33:55Speaker 3: So far, there has been there's been three bills that
- 34:00Speaker 3: have passed. Now, two of those were things that were
- 34:03Speaker 3: updates of code that have to be done. There's only
- 34:05Speaker 3: been one bill. There's only been one bill that's come
- 34:09Speaker 3: out and been signed, and that was the ranked choice
- 34:11Speaker 3: voting bill. Does it have to be that slow toning?
- 34:14Speaker 4: Well, now you say only one bill has been passed
- 34:18Speaker 4: the entire legislative session, There's been several Senate bills. I mean,
- 34:21Speaker 4: there's been several bills that come out of the Senate, right,
- 34:23Speaker 4: there's only been a very few out of the House,
- 34:25Speaker 4: and I don't even only maybe one or two has
- 34:27Speaker 4: been signed by the governor. But yeah, I mean, look,
- 34:31Speaker 4: it's it is a little slow. I think it'll pick
- 34:35Speaker 4: up though, especially you have to watch, especially on the
- 34:37Speaker 4: House side. It's going to be backloaded because of this
- 34:39Speaker 4: new committee process. Everything's going to go really really slow
- 34:42Speaker 4: at first, and then it's going to be like the
- 34:47Speaker 4: pedal to the floor in the end. Yeah, to try
- 34:49Speaker 4: to get all this committee work, then try to get
- 34:51Speaker 4: it through the House floor. So I think the second
- 34:54Speaker 4: half of the session is going to be very, very animated,
- 34:57Speaker 4: shall we say?
- 34:58Speaker 3: All right, so you and I are great friends and
- 35:02Speaker 3: have been for a number of years now, but I'm
- 35:04Speaker 3: gonna play devil's advocate here. I know, no pun intent,
- 35:07Speaker 3: no pun intent as someone who sees themselves and you
- 35:11Speaker 3: may disagree with the assertion as a overall conservative person,
- 35:16Speaker 3: and you may disagree with that, but we're just gonna
- 35:18Speaker 3: go with in the eyes of many. You know, I
- 35:20Speaker 3: am considered a Chamber of commerce, country club type as
- 35:25Speaker 3: far as my political been, you know, not so much
- 35:28Speaker 3: into the social issues you alluded to this earlier. I
- 35:32Speaker 3: mean it seems like that to me, and you say
- 35:36Speaker 3: they'll get to that, and I've heard the same thing.
- 35:38Speaker 3: I talked to a senator, a state senator over the
- 35:40Speaker 3: Weekend who said the same things, like Dave, we got
- 35:42Speaker 3: to get through these social issues so then we can
- 35:45Speaker 3: use your words, so we can put the pedal to
- 35:47Speaker 3: the metal. But again, it seems to me that we're
- 35:51Speaker 3: focusing so much on these trans issues and abortion and
- 35:56Speaker 3: things of that nature. I know you you disagree, and
- 36:00Speaker 3: that's okay, but it just seems like we got to
- 36:04Speaker 3: pick it up a little bit and maybe, in my view,
- 36:08Speaker 3: get away from some of these social issues. Well, I
- 36:12Speaker 3: completely disagree with your last statement get away from some
- 36:14Speaker 3: of the social issues. I disagree with that wholeheartedly. Again,
- 36:17Speaker 3: I believe that both are very important. In my mind,
- 36:20Speaker 3: they both weigh equally. You know, there's a guy out there.
- 36:24Speaker 3: You guys can look him up. You guys have heard
- 36:26Speaker 3: of Jordan Peterson. Oh yeah, Well, one of Jordan Peterson's
- 36:28Speaker 3: guests on his podcast is a man by the name
- 36:32Speaker 3: of Rob Henderson, and he wrote a book entitled Troubled
- 36:35Speaker 3: and this book is endorsed by Vice President Ja d
- 36:38Speaker 3: Vance And I read the book, and this guy he
- 36:41Speaker 3: has an incredible backstory where he dealt with some very
- 36:45Speaker 3: rough social issues growing up, I mean, divorce, abandonment. He
- 36:50Speaker 3: was an orphan became adopted, another divorce, drug use in
- 36:54Speaker 3: his family, all of these horrible social issues. But to
- 36:57Speaker 3: make a long story short, he ended up going into
- 37:00Speaker 3: the military. God his life straightened out, ended up being
- 37:03Speaker 3: able to go into Yale after being a terrible student
- 37:06Speaker 3: in high school. He went to Yale and then God
- 37:08Speaker 3: his doctorate degree at Cambridge, and he wrote this book
- 37:11Speaker 3: called Trouble. And when you get to the end of
- 37:13Speaker 3: the book, he kind of puts it all together and
- 37:14Speaker 3: he says, look, social issues greatly affected my life. Then
- 37:19Speaker 3: he talks about his business acumen and the importance of
- 37:21Speaker 3: the economy and all of that. He says, both of
- 37:24Speaker 3: these are equally important. You can't have true honest success
- 37:28Speaker 3: in economic development and business and all that if you
- 37:32Speaker 3: don't have people who have a strong foundation on the
- 37:35Speaker 3: social issues. I feel like Rob Henderson, I feel like
- 37:38Speaker 3: that very thing. We have to have a strong foundation
- 37:42Speaker 3: of solid belief in good moral values that will set
- 37:47Speaker 3: the foundation to have people who are put into place
- 37:52Speaker 3: to where they can succeed economically, in school, in their
- 37:57Speaker 3: education all that. You know, people who come from broken
- 37:59Speaker 3: homes and all these social environments, a lot of times
- 38:02Speaker 3: they get into adulthood and they're serving us down here
- 38:05Speaker 3: at the local gas station.
- 38:07Speaker 4: It doesn't have to be that way. Rob Henderson talks
- 38:09Speaker 4: about that you need both. You need strong social fabric
- 38:12Speaker 4: in this country and that will create strong economic development.
- 38:16Speaker 8: Mark that down.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Consider it marked ninety five a day violand showing five

- 38:36Speaker 3: I mean not got a couple of texts here, Okay,
- 38:37Speaker 3: text says it's not all it's not at all a
- 38:40Speaker 3: committee issue. It's the type of bills wasting time and
- 38:44Speaker 3: not moving West Virginia forward with not pushing pro business legislation.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you this, we're doing pro business legislation.
- 38:50Speaker 4: If you go in and look at the bills introduced,
- 38:52Speaker 4: all the pro business bills are there.
- 38:54Speaker 3: We'll get to it.
- 38:55Speaker 4: But I'll also tell you this other thing. The people
- 38:57Speaker 4: who are sitting down there in office right now, they
- 38:59Speaker 4: were a lie. They were elected to do certain things.
- 39:02Speaker 4: They've heard from their constituents, and they're getting the things
- 39:04Speaker 4: that their constituents want out of the way. The voters
- 39:07Speaker 4: put them there. I don't know who your textures are,
- 39:09Speaker 4: But whoever the textures are, who who pushed back real
- 39:12Speaker 4: hard on that? Look, I'm willing to we can work together.
- 39:15Speaker 4: But if you push back real, real hard, I'm gonna
- 39:17Speaker 4: tell you something. You're in the minority. The voters put
- 39:20Speaker 4: the people who are in there right now, who are
- 39:21Speaker 4: very social conservative with all you know, also business minded.
- 39:26Speaker 4: You're gonna have to be able to do both. We'll
- 39:28Speaker 4: be able to do both. Again, it's a two year session.
- 39:31Speaker 4: It's not just one year, you know, it's two years.
- 39:34Speaker 4: The House of Delegates elected every two years. So you've
- 39:36Speaker 4: got this section, you've got this year and next year.
- 39:38Speaker 4: There's going to be time. It's gonna come now.
- 39:40Speaker 8: I do agree. I did hear.
- 39:41Speaker 4: It was Senator tar He was on the other day
- 39:44Speaker 4: and he was talking about he wants to move faster.
- 39:46Speaker 4: He's my senator, you know where I live in Putnam County,
- 39:49Speaker 4: and so I do agree with him. We do need
- 39:53Speaker 4: to move on these things. But it will happen but
- 39:54Speaker 4: you got to give them time again, there was high turnover.
- 39:57Speaker 4: You got a lot of people down there learning the ropes.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Texas Tony Hodge wants to use the government to enforce
- 40:02Speaker 3: his personal social views on people, and he doesn't understand
- 40:05Speaker 3: the hypocrisy that he'd be crying if liberal ideology was
- 40:09Speaker 3: forced on him.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Well, it matters at the voting booth if the Democrats
- 40:13Speaker 4: had won and they were pushing their ideology. That get
- 40:15Speaker 4: me out there fighting harder for my people to win
- 40:18Speaker 4: the seats.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Back Texas Day. This do nothing state government. It's prioritized
- 40:21Speaker 3: culture war bs over basic governance, such as Rhodes Bridge's
- 40:26Speaker 3: jobs of the economy. Now we're touting Jordan Peterson, what
- 40:29Speaker 3: a joke, Wake up voters. This story he's telling has
- 40:32Speaker 3: nothing to do with the social issues that his party
- 40:36Speaker 3: is wasting time on. Will get to it cake for
- 40:39Speaker 3: me and not for.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Thee Well, look said make cake. I only have a
- 40:43Speaker 4: twenty minute segment on here. I mean I could go
- 40:45Speaker 4: in here and give a full synopsis of Rob Henderson's
- 40:48Speaker 4: book that I was talking about.
- 40:50Speaker 8: I can't do that.
- 40:50Speaker 4: I'm trying to respect people's time, but clearly the listener
- 40:55Speaker 4: I don't get They probably didn't understand my full explanation
- 40:57Speaker 4: on that.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Tex says, any day a legislative by isn't passing laws
- 41:01Speaker 3: is a good day. There's too many now, Uh, there
- 41:05Speaker 3: could be some truth to that. Pens on pends on
- 41:09Speaker 3: how you're taking what particular bill it is.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I guess, yeah, I mean less government's good. But you
- 41:14Speaker 4: know we're working together trying to make West Virginia a
- 41:16Speaker 4: better place.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Texas, Dave, haven't you learned by now that the extreme
- 41:19Speaker 3: social issues such as transurgeries for kids and CRT are
- 41:23Speaker 3: exactly what Democrats created their policies around. These things are
- 41:26Speaker 3: exactly why a lot of people have left the party.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I think he means left the Democratic Party. I think
- 41:31Speaker 3: because he or she I don't know who it is.
- 41:33Speaker 4: Well, yes, of course, because clearly people are leaving the
- 41:36Speaker 4: Democratic Party, not only in West Virginia in droves, but
- 41:38Speaker 4: now nationally. And I have a big announcement to make,
- 41:40Speaker 4: but I want to wait till after the break before
- 41:41Speaker 4: I make it. Yeah, I've got an announcement.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Announcements, all right, Yeah, did you happen to see and
- 41:46Speaker 3: I saw it over the weekend, the interview that California
- 41:49Speaker 3: Governor Newsom did he's with Charlie Kirk. I think he's
- 41:55Speaker 3: I think he and some others are starting to dial
- 41:59Speaker 3: back a little bit on some of these things as
- 42:03Speaker 3: it comes to trans issues and women in sports and
- 42:07Speaker 3: things of that nature. I've got a message here. So
- 42:11Speaker 3: Supreme Court will take up state bands on conversion therapt
- 42:14Speaker 3: therapy for lgb two CO lgbt Q plus children in
- 42:19Speaker 3: a Colorado case. Okay, So again I think that this
- 42:25Speaker 3: is just me and you can agree or disagree. I
- 42:27Speaker 3: think that if the Democrats, and I'm talking on the
- 42:28Speaker 3: nationwide level now have any opportunity to be able to
- 42:34Speaker 3: correct what they did wrong in this past election, they're
- 42:37Speaker 3: gonna have to dial it back a little bit because
- 42:39Speaker 3: they're not in many cases, in my opinion, they're not
- 42:42Speaker 3: where the voters are. I don't know what the far
- 42:44Speaker 3: right is either, okay, but I don't think that a
- 42:47Speaker 3: lot of these extremes are where the voters are. Say
- 42:50Speaker 3: this and go to break.
- 42:50Speaker 4: Okay, Well, it depends on how you how you would
- 42:52Speaker 4: describe the far right, how would you would how you
- 42:54Speaker 4: would define that. But I'm glad you brought up that
- 42:56Speaker 4: gavenution thing. Because it kind of dovetails in the announcement
- 42:58Speaker 4: that I'm gonna make.
- 42:59Speaker 8: But you're right.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Gave Newsome. Look, he wants to be the president of
- 43:02Speaker 4: the United States. He sees the writing on the wall.
- 43:04Speaker 4: He knows the Democrats are losing, and they're losing bad.
- 43:07Speaker 4: And it was actually quite shocking that he went on
- 43:09Speaker 4: even agreed to have an interview with Charlie Kirk, and
- 43:12Speaker 4: then when he goes on there, he backtracks on all
- 43:14Speaker 4: these radical leftist ideas that the Democrats are trying to
- 43:17Speaker 4: shove down our throat. Gavin Newsom, I hate to say,
- 43:19Speaker 4: I don't want to give them pointers or anything like that,
- 43:20Speaker 4: because I'm very good at strategy. But he's very smart,
- 43:23Speaker 4: and he's doing very smart things right now. He's positioning
- 43:27Speaker 4: himself very very well.
- 43:29Speaker 8: He's smart.
- 43:30Speaker 4: The Democrats in West Virginia, our leadership on that side
- 43:33Speaker 4: is not because they're doing exactly the opposite of what
- 43:35Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom is doing.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Texas Republicans have shaped Democrat policy from their various scam
- 43:40Speaker 3: that has synchronized conservative anger media networks. Democrats have left
- 43:44Speaker 3: let them as well. Okay, all right, final says four
- 43:49Speaker 3: break before election fixed on day one after election. We
- 43:53Speaker 3: need more time. And I think this refers to and
- 43:56Speaker 3: this is probably more of a Trump thing when he said,
- 43:58Speaker 3: you know, when he came in and his said when
- 44:01Speaker 3: he came in and he said on you know, you're
- 44:03Speaker 3: going to see if you elect me, that prices are
- 44:05Speaker 3: gonna fall and this is gonna happen, and it's not.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Well, there's a lot of things moving.
- 44:09Speaker 3: We should have probably should have never said that it
- 44:12Speaker 3: was going to happen, you know, but go ahead.
- 44:13Speaker 4: Well, the truth is things are moving much much faster
- 44:16Speaker 4: in that administration. On the national administration, he's actually gotten
- 44:19Speaker 4: a lot done in the last six weeks or so.
- 44:21Speaker 4: But here we're talking about West Virginia. There was no
- 44:23Speaker 4: promises to do anything spectacular on day one with House
- 44:27Speaker 4: of Delegates members in West Virginia Senate members.

- 47:13Speaker 2: Well, it's just quickly.
- 47:14Speaker 8: Yeah, it's an economic development bill. I touched on it earlier.
- 47:16Speaker 8: It will it will.
- 47:17Speaker 4: It's it's basically a welcome matt to big factories or
- 47:21Speaker 4: industrial sites, possibly data centers, things like that, and where

- 47:40Speaker 4: you know, when people come knocking, you have to be
- 47:42Speaker 4: ready to answer right then and there. So part of
- 47:44Speaker 4: it's done on the legislative side. Part of it's just
- 47:46Speaker 4: good old fashioned knowing how to meet people and.
- 47:48Speaker 8: Talk to people.
- 47:49Speaker 3: All right, what's this announcement you got?
- 47:50Speaker 4: Okay, So last Tuesday I was watching the Joint Address
- 47:54Speaker 4: to Congress. Okay, that address is watched by many more
- 47:59Speaker 4: people than would normally be involved in politics because it's
- 48:02Speaker 4: on every network, you know, so it's watched by millions
- 48:04Speaker 4: of people. In fact, I saw Fox News said it
- 48:05Speaker 4: was their highest joint Session of Congress ever in the ratings.
- 48:09Speaker 4: What I saw was shocking, absolutely shocking, and quite frankly,
- 48:15Speaker 4: I can't believe you haven't talked about it more on
- 48:16Speaker 4: your show, and Dave and TJ haven't talked about it
- 48:18Speaker 4: more on their show.
- 48:19Speaker 8: They did talk about a little bit.
- 48:21Speaker 3: It was shocking.
- 48:22Speaker 4: It was something that we've never seen in American history ever.
- 48:25Speaker 4: Before President Trump comes out, none of the Democrats, they
- 48:30Speaker 4: don't even stand, they don't clap or anything. There's one
- 48:32Speaker 4: woman Democrats standing there with a sign that says this
- 48:34Speaker 4: is not normal, and I was like, Okay, what's this about.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Turns out it surely wasn't normal. They had a young
- 48:42Speaker 4: man there, a child with brain cancer, fighting brain cancer,
- 48:46Speaker 4: and the Democrats, based on their strategy, they didn't even
- 48:48Speaker 4: have the common decency to stand up and clap for
- 48:52Speaker 4: a young man dying of brain cancer or fighting brain cancer.
- 48:56Speaker 4: They had Lake and Riley's family there, she was killed
- 49:00Speaker 4: by criminals. They didn't even have the common decency to
- 49:03Speaker 4: stand up in class. Now, people who don't normally involve
- 49:06Speaker 4: themselves in politics, but they see this because it's on
- 49:08Speaker 4: every network. They're looking at that and saying, what is
- 49:11Speaker 4: going on? What is going on with these people? They
- 49:13Speaker 4: don't even stand for and clap for a child with
- 49:16Speaker 4: brain cancer. So the announcement that I have to make
- 49:18Speaker 4: today is a big announcement, is that the Democratic Party
- 49:22Speaker 4: is completely bankrupt. I'm telling you right now. They're bankrupt.
- 49:26Speaker 4: They're bankrupt of good policy, they're bankrupt of good ideas,
- 49:30Speaker 4: they're bankrupt of good decorum, they're bankrupt of good decency,
- 49:33Speaker 4: and some of them are bankrupt of good morals. The
- 49:36Speaker 4: Democratic Party is bankrupt.
- 49:37Speaker 7: Now.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Look, I'm not a prophet, but I can tell you
- 49:40Speaker 4: when it's about to reign. And if the election were
- 49:42Speaker 4: held tomorrow, the Democrats will lose all the way across
- 49:45Speaker 4: this country because of the garbage that they showed the
- 49:48Speaker 4: American people last Tuesday.
- 49:49Speaker 3: That was sad.
- 49:50Speaker 4: It was poor strategy. That was one of the poorest
- 49:52Speaker 4: strategies I've ever seen in politics. And look, I work
- 49:55Speaker 4: in strategy.
- 49:56Speaker 8: That's what we do.
- 49:57Speaker 4: We're very good at it. Okay, we're very good at
- 50:00Speaker 4: it in the Republican Party in West Virginia. We're very
- 50:02Speaker 4: good at what we do. There are certain things you
- 50:05Speaker 4: can control. You can control your messaging, you can control
- 50:08Speaker 4: what you say to the voters and how you advertise.
- 50:12Speaker 4: There's one thing you can't control. There's like this this
- 50:14Speaker 4: X factor, this, you know, this unknown quantity like we
- 50:17Speaker 4: do in algebra, and that's what the other side's going
- 50:19Speaker 4: to do. Sometimes they do things that beat you. Sometimes
- 50:22Speaker 4: they do things that make it easy. And last Tuesday night,
- 50:25Speaker 4: the Democratic Party really showed themselves and the American people
- 50:29Speaker 4: were very unhappy. In fact, there was a there was
- 50:31Speaker 4: a poll done on CNN Liberal CNN that eighty percent
- 50:36Speaker 4: of the viewers disagreed with what they saw on the television.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Now and I agree with you wholeheartedly on that, I
- 50:41Speaker 3: mean one hundred percent. I also harken back to a
- 50:43Speaker 3: time when Marjorie Taylor Green was booing a former president too,
- 50:48Speaker 3: and I also think that was a lot of crap.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I mean, I really do. I think it's decorum and
- 50:52Speaker 3: I didn't and I'll say this, and I said this
- 50:54Speaker 3: last week. I don't like the idea of them channing
- 50:56Speaker 3: USA usay either. Not that I'm not patriotic, because I am. However,
- 51:01Speaker 3: it's the capital for gosh. Say, here's the thing.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom knows that they he knows how bad it was.
- 51:07Speaker 4: He's changing his tunes just like you pointed out. You know,
- 51:09Speaker 4: who's not changing their tune. You know who's doubling down
- 51:12Speaker 4: on this garbage, The West Virginia Democrats, and they're gonna lose,
- 51:15Speaker 4: and they're gonna lose big. Keep doing it and keep losing.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Quick text, Tony Hodge is a man that has common sense.
