- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, America. This is Gill and here is the
- 0:02Speaker 1: first full list of Donald Trump's executive orders signed on
- 0:05Speaker 1: inauguration day. President Donald Trump announced a flurry of executive
- 0:10Speaker 1: orders and other presidential actions on Monday, fulfilling a campaign
- 0:14Speaker 1: promise to enact as sweeping conservative agenda upon his return
- 0:17Speaker 1: to the White House. Among other things, the president withdrew
- 0:20Speaker 1: from the landmark Paris Agreement, rescinded seventy eight Biden era
- 0:24Speaker 1: executive actions, and implemented a federal hiring freeze. He also
- 0:29Speaker 1: signed several immigration related executive orders, announced upcoming tariffs on
- 0:34Speaker 1: Canada and Mexico, and issued pardons to more than one
- 0:37Speaker 1: fifteen hundred people convicted of crimes related to the deadly
- 0:41Speaker 1: January sixth, twenty twenty one Capital riot. Trump signed his
- 0:45Speaker 1: first few executive orders before the inaugural luncheon Monday afternoon.
- 0:49Speaker 1: The orders appointed dozens of cabinet level officials and acting
- 0:52Speaker 1: officials across the government, pending Senate confirmation of Trump's cabinet nominees.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Officials who were appointed in acting capacity cities via executive
- 1:01Speaker 1: orders include Trump signed a number of other the executive
- 1:04Speaker 1: actions at the Capital One Arena in Washington, d c.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Where he addressed supporters in the late afternoon. The actions
- 1:11Speaker 1: he signed included the recision of seventy eight Biden era
- 1:15Speaker 1: executive orders, actions and memoranda. A regulatory freeze preventing bureaucrats
- 1:19Speaker 1: from issuing any more regulations until we have full control
- 1:22Speaker 1: of the government. A freeze on all federal hiring except
- 1:25Speaker 1: in the military, and a number of other excluded categories.
- 1:29Speaker 1: A requirement that federal workers returned to full time in
- 1:32Speaker 1: person work. Directing agencies to address americans cost of living crisis,
- 1:37Speaker 1: withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and informing the United Nations
- 1:40Speaker 1: of the US withdrawal from the landmark Climate Treaty. A
- 1:44Speaker 1: directive to the federal government ordering the restoration of freedom
- 1:47Speaker 1: of speech and preventing government censorship of free speech going forward.
- 1:51Speaker 1: A directive to the federal government ending the weaponization of
- 1:54Speaker 1: government against the political adversaries of the previous administration as
- 1:59Speaker 1: we've seen. Trump then headed to the White House, where
- 2:02Speaker 1: one of the first things he did was pardon more
- 2:04Speaker 1: than one thousand, five hundred people convicted in connection to
- 2:07Speaker 1: the deadly January sixth, twenty twenty one Capital riot. Many
- 2:11Speaker 1: of Trump's campaign promises may be able to be implemented
- 2:14Speaker 1: by executive order, but others will require support from Congress.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Republicans have a majority in the House and Senate, but
- 2:21Speaker 1: their slim House majority and the existence of the Senate
- 2:24Speaker 1: filibuster mean Trump will need cooperation from at least some
- 2:28Speaker 1: Democratic lawmakers to pass parts of his agenda. Many of
- 2:31Speaker 1: these orders are likely to face legal challenges over the
- 2:34Speaker 1: coming months, as liberal groups and watchdog organizations have pledged
- 2:38Speaker 1: to sue the Trump administration over some of the president's
- 2:41Speaker 1: campaign pledges. Trump signed an executive order seeking to end
- 2:45Speaker 1: birthright citizenship. The order will almost certainly face legal challenges
- 2:50Speaker 1: since birthright citizenship is enshrined in the u. S. Constitution.
- 2:54Speaker 1: He also signed an order designating Mexican drug cartels and
- 2:57Speaker 1: some other organizations to be foreign terrorists organizations. That's a
- 3:01Speaker 1: big one, Trump said while signing the order. People have
- 3:05Speaker 1: wanted to do this for years. Immigration, Trump's signature issue,
- 3:09Speaker 1: will be the focal point of several executive orders. He
- 3:12Speaker 1: promised mass deportations starting the first day of his administration,
- 3:15Speaker 1: though these efforts are likely to draw swift legal challenges,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but there are numerous orders he could sign to tighten
- 3:21Speaker 1: the border that were in effect during his first term,
- 3:25Speaker 1: like reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy, which required asylum
- 3:29Speaker 1: seekers to stay in Mexico while their cases go through
- 3:32Speaker 1: courts in the US. He has also signaled that he
- 3:35Speaker 1: will issue an order declaring a national emergency at the border,
- 3:39Speaker 1: which would free up funding to use on immigration issues.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The president signed a number of executive orders, withdrawing the
- 3:45Speaker 1: United States from key agreements and agencies and immediately withdrawing
- 3:49Speaker 1: from the one sided Paris Climate Accord Ripoff. Trump said
- 3:53Speaker 1: Monday at the Capitol One Arena, the United States will
- 3:56Speaker 1: not sabotage our own industries while China pollutes with impunity.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He also withdrew the US from the World Health Organization.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Trump fulfilled his campaign promise to impose steep tariffs on
- 4:06Speaker 1: countries like Canada and Mexico, saying that as of February first,
- 4:11Speaker 1: there will be a twenty five percent tariff on imports
- 4:13Speaker 1: from both countries. He also signed an executive order extending
- 4:17Speaker 1: the deadline for TikTok's parent company Byte Dance to divest
- 4:20Speaker 1: from the app, just one day after a law requiring
- 4:24Speaker 1: its ban took effect. The app went offline for a
- 4:26Speaker 1: few hours in the US on Sunday, but became available
- 4:30Speaker 1: again after the company announced that it believed Trump would
- 4:32Speaker 1: block the ban from taking effect. Trump's executive order gave
- 4:37Speaker 1: byte Dance an additional ninety days to divest from TikTok
- 4:40Speaker 1: to avoid a ban on the app. The president will
- 4:43Speaker 1: likely sign orders loosening regulations that the Biden administration imposed
- 4:47Speaker 1: on fossil fuel companies to mitigate the risk of climate change.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Trump will also likely target Biden era limitations on offshore
- 4:55Speaker 1: drilling and policies meant to encourage the use of electric
- 4:58Speaker 1: vehicles evs, both of which Trump singled out in his
- 5:02Speaker 1: inaugural address. I'll also sign an executive order to immediately
- 5:05Speaker 1: end federal government censorship of the American people, he said,
- 5:09Speaker 1: as his supporters cheered. In America, we believe in free speech,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and we're bringing it back starting today. The president has
- 5:15Speaker 1: also signaled he would sign orders addressing key culture war
- 5:18Speaker 1: issues like transgender rights. He has said he will cut
- 5:22Speaker 1: funding for schools that promote concepts of gender theory, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: said in his inaugural address that there are only two genders,
- 5:29Speaker 1: male and female. The House already passed a bill that
- 5:32Speaker 1: would prohibit transgender women and girls from playing in women's sports,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but it's unclear whether the bill will have enough votes
- 5:39Speaker 1: in the Senate to pass the sixty vote filibuster, as
- 5:42Speaker 1: it has received little support from Democrats. The forty seventh
- 5:45Speaker 1: president will sign an order renaming the Gulf of Mexico
- 5:48Speaker 1: to the Gulf of America. He will also revert the
- 5:50Speaker 1: name of Mount Denali, the highest mountain in North America,
- 5:53Speaker 1: to Mount McKinley. The peak was called Mount McKinley until
- 5:56Speaker 1: then President Barack Obama changed it in two thousand and
- 6:00Speaker 1: fifteen to Denali, the traditional Athabascan name in all federal documents.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Trump will make these changes to honor American greatness. According
- 6:09Speaker 1: to a preview of the coming executive orders that the
- 6:12Speaker 1: President's Press secretary posted online, one of the first executive
- 6:16Speaker 1: orders Trump plans to sign will create the Department of
- 6:18Speaker 1: Government Efficiency, Semaphore reported, citing a fact sheet it viewed.
- 6:24Speaker 1: DOS will oversee a substantial reduction in the size and
- 6:26Speaker 1: scope of government and operate within the US government. Semaphore reported,
- 6:31Speaker 1: quoting from the fact sheet. Trump announced the creation of
- 6:34Speaker 1: DODE shortly after winning the twenty twenty four election. The
- 6:38Speaker 1: department will be led by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. According
- 6:41Speaker 1: to Semaphore, DOES will work with the Office of Management
- 6:45Speaker 1: and Budget and all agencies to shrink the federal workforce,
- 6:48Speaker 1: federal spending, and federal regulatory burdens. But the president faces
- 6:52Speaker 1: an uphill battle to creating the new department, as evidenced
- 6:56Speaker 1: by a lawsuit filed minutes after he was inauguratedudging that
- 7:00Speaker 1: DOGE violates federal transparency rules. Trump allies have signaled that
- 7:05Speaker 1: he could sign up to one hundred executive orders on
- 7:08Speaker 1: his first day in office, which would be the highest
- 7:10Speaker 1: number any president has signed on their first day. Up
- 7:13Speaker 1: until the last few decades, presidents typically signed few or
- 7:16Speaker 1: no executive orders in their first week or day in office.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Trump signed one order on inauguration day twenty seventeen and
- 7:23Speaker 1: four others in the week that followed. Biden signed twenty
- 7:26Speaker 1: four orders from January twenty to January twenty seven, twenty
- 7:29Speaker 1: twenty one. Former President Barack Obama signed five in his
- 7:32Speaker 1: first week, and previous presidents signed fewer orders upon taking office.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Stay with me over the next couple of days and
- 7:38Speaker 1: I update thanks time in office, have a great day.
