Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, it's Friday, it's still spring where the grass is
- 0:10Speaker 1: greener and the allergies are meaner and we're all starting
- 0:12Speaker 1: to put our summer clothes on and think, what the
- 0:14Speaker 1: hell have I done in the last couple of months?
- 0:16Speaker 1: But you're on No Dribble Strap In!
- 0:18Speaker 2: Music Hello and welcome to No Dribble, the podcast where
- 0:32Speaker 2: we talk about netball, where Liz Ellis eats a Thai
- 0:34Speaker 2: salad between episodes.
- 0:36Speaker 1: My name's Carolyn Swindell.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm Kath Cox and I do know what I've been
- 0:39Speaker 3: doing in the last few months to put on the weight.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Same, Liz Ellis. And do I have green stuff in
- 0:44Speaker 4: my teeth?
- 0:45Speaker 3: No.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Not that I can see. Just a bit of green,
- 0:48Speaker 1: a bit of gold.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Who needs enemies when you have friends like Catherine?
- 0:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: She bleeds for Australia now, Catherine.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Would we tell her if she had green in her teeth?
- 0:58Speaker 1: See, you put someone in the Hall of Fame and
- 1:00Speaker 1: look what happens.
- 1:01Speaker 4: One Hall of Fame.
- 1:02Speaker 5: I will say, Catherine, this is her second Hall of Fame,
- 1:06Speaker 5: so she's starting to get a bit uppity.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So she's in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and
- 1:10Speaker 1: now going into the Netball Australia Hall of Fame.
- 1:12Speaker 3: And currently she's in Bali.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Well, yeah, currently she's in Bali. This is the magic
- 1:17Speaker 1: of technology. Now, listen, while we're talking about how everyone
- 1:21Speaker 1: looks on camera, look what I'm wearing.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I love it. It's so cool.
- 1:25Speaker 1: This is the Women's Sport Fan Club from our friends
- 1:28Speaker 1: at the Female Athlete Project. They have some lovely merch.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And I've talked about this a few weeks ago after
- 1:34Speaker 1: I upset all the men talking about it and they
- 1:36Speaker 1: were all going, no one supports women's sport. Have you
- 1:40Speaker 1: even been to a game of netball?
- 1:42Speaker 3: No.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, I have.
- 1:45Speaker 4: That is how they sound.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they do, don't they?
- 1:48Speaker 1: And I did say what we need to be doing
- 1:50Speaker 1: collectively is making sure that we are sharing the content
- 1:53Speaker 1: from all of the women's sport content creators, supporting... Supporting
- 1:57Speaker 1: those in the interest. Let's not just wait for the sponsors.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Let's build our own media infrastructure. Female Athlete Project.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I'm going to get one of them. I really like it.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nice, isn't it?
- 2:06Speaker 4: I really like it.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Established 2020. But they've got something else here that I
- 2:10Speaker 1: like that I've brought along for us to do today.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So this is a little trivia game and it's cards.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And this is all about... Women's sport. Women's sport. So
- 2:21Speaker 1: now I've pulled out some netball-specific cards, but there's other
- 2:25Speaker 1: ones in here that I think are interesting. All right,
- 2:27Speaker 1: let's start with an easy one. With 122 international caps,
- 2:34Speaker 1: the most capped Australian netballer as at 2025 is Liz Ellis.
- 2:37Speaker 3: We need to buzz in. What's our buzzers? Should it
- 2:40Speaker 3: be our name?
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:42Speaker 4: You ready, Liz?
- 2:43Speaker 1: You say Hall of Fame.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Okay. Okay.
- 2:47Speaker 1: All right, let's see if she was paying attention to
- 2:49Speaker 1: this one. Who won the Liz Ellis Diamond Award in 2024?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Liz Ellis.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Oh, 2024.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You went early. You went early.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Georgie Hodges.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm going to give you some thinking time while I
- 3:04Speaker 1: tell everyone. The Liz Ellis Diamond is awarded to the
- 3:07Speaker 1: nation's best netballer across both domestic and international performances.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It was Jamie Lee Price last year, wasn't it?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Jamie Lee Price was last year.
- 3:15Speaker 4: The year before.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Now this game, what they have, so more than a game.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I know, I know, I know.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But you can narrow it. You can do like a
- 3:22Speaker 1: 50-50 thing if you want.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Don't need to. Sophie Garvin.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Correct.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Very good.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I just had to remember what dinner I was at. Oh, yes.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Okay. What you're wearing, where you were, who was there.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Which Super Netball team did Gemma Mai Mai debut for
- 3:38Speaker 1: in 2017?
- 3:38Speaker 5: I couldn't remember what my button name was.
- 3:42Speaker 4: It was me.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Gemma Mai Mai.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Ooh. Was it Queensland Firebirds?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Correct.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Queensland Firebirds. Did Lisa debut for Queensland Firebirds?
- 3:50Speaker 3: I would have thought so, yeah. All right.
- 3:54Speaker 1: What do the letters mean? Some of them are a
- 3:56Speaker 1: bit easier than others. What do the letters WD stand
- 3:59Speaker 1: for in a netball uniform?
- 4:01Speaker 3: Did I get that before you?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Go.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You can do it.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Ah, thanks.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Worth doing.
- 4:06Speaker 1: The D is not for dispensable, FYI.
- 4:08Speaker 4: I'm just thinking of all the mean things that I
- 4:11Speaker 4: can say.
- 4:12Speaker 3: That's what's taken me so long.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 4:17Speaker 1: What would the B stand for?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Wing defence.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Wing defence.
- 4:22Speaker 4: All right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: When was netball first included in the Commonwealth Games program?
- 4:25Speaker 3: 1998.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I think actually Kath got that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: But look, here's another couple that are not netball related.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Can we do this as a whole podcast?
- 4:36Speaker 1: There's a delay. That's why Liz is losing. She hates it,
- 4:39Speaker 1: doesn't she?
- 4:40Speaker 4: Like, oh, I can't lose.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Even when it means nothing, I can't lose. Okay, these
- 4:47Speaker 1: are for friends of No Dribble. Which Australian surfer won
- 4:50Speaker 1: the prestigious Loris... Laureus World Alternative Sportsperson of the Year
- 4:55Speaker 1: Award in 2005.
- 4:57Speaker 3: She's going to go Lane, but it's not Steph Gilmore.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Is it? 2005. Yeah.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Oh, no. What is it?
- 5:06Speaker 4: It's Lane.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Lane Beechley. Oh, it is. Yeah. Okay. Goggles were first
- 5:11Speaker 1: permitted to be used at the Olympic Games in which year?
- 5:15Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Do you want me to 50-50 it for you?
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's either 1968 or 1976. Catherine?
- 5:22Speaker 3: I'd go 76. Correct. That's really great.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So they all just had chlorine in their eyes before that.
- 5:29Speaker 3: So whoever won was the one that stayed on track
- 5:31Speaker 3: and didn't run into the wall or the ropes.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Or the end.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to go with one last one here.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Okay.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Oh, this is a cracker. In Rio, Melissa Millie Tapper said,
- 5:46Speaker 1: became the first Australian athlete to compete in both the
- 5:49Speaker 1: Olympics and Paralympics. Which sport does she compete in?
- 5:53Speaker 4: Liz. Correct.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Wait.
- 5:58Speaker 3: You are correct. There goes my.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Career as a game show host.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Correct.
- 6:04Speaker 4: My name is Liz. I don't know the answer, but
- 6:07Speaker 4: I'm going to have a guess. Shooting.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Incorrect.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Oh, damn it.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Table tennis.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Table tennis.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 4: That's so cool.
- 6:16Speaker 3: As an able-bodied athlete.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Millie Tapper became the first Australian athlete to compete in
- 6:21Speaker 1: both the Olympics and Paralympics. That is amazing.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I'm fascinated as to the disability.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Maybe it's an upper body. Maybe it's her non-dominant hand.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Wow.
- 6:31Speaker 4: That's amazing. I love that.
- 6:34Speaker 1: There you go. So get around that because that is–
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 6:37Speaker 4: I love that. Can I buy it on the website?
- 6:39Speaker 1: Making Women Athletes Household Names. Yes, you can buy it
- 6:42Speaker 1: on the website.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I'll be so buying that one.
- 6:44Speaker 5: We've got a– Austin found one in like a– $ 2
- 6:48Speaker 5: shop or something that's just all blokes. So I'm going
- 6:51Speaker 5: to be buying this one and it will be homework
- 6:53Speaker 5: in our house.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yes, that's very good. I've lost my pen. Doesn't matter.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I don't need it. We're just going to move on.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Thank you. I have a question, though. We're just about
- 7:03Speaker 1: to go to our netball segment. But last week, I
- 7:05Speaker 1: feel maybe I owe you an apology, Hall of Famer,
- 7:08Speaker 1: to be. Oh, okay, yeah. You were talking about Colin
- 7:10Speaker 1: from Accounts and I said, I'm not up to date.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And I thought, well, that's kind of on me. So
- 7:15Speaker 1: what is the statute of limitations on a spoiler alert?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Like how long after something comes out are you allowed
- 7:23Speaker 1: to say to someone, you can't talk about it because
- 7:26Speaker 1: I'm not up to date? So this was, I was
- 7:28Speaker 1: only a week behind, I think. So that one I
- 7:30Speaker 1: would go, not entirely unreasonable.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, great call though. I reckon it's, oh, it's like,
- 7:40Speaker 3: Three weeks. I'll give you a week's extra lenience because
- 7:44Speaker 3: people are busy.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And that's for a TV thing?
- 7:47Speaker 3: That's for a TV, but if you're going to like
- 7:49Speaker 3: maybe a movie because it takes longer, I'd give a month.
- 7:53Speaker 1: A month? Maybe while it's in its cinematic run.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Look, if you didn't go and see it while it
- 7:59Speaker 1: was in cinemas, then you're not that interested. Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Liz? Look, it takes me so long to see something
- 8:06Speaker 4: that I'd need about three years.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I have started watching Worst Ex Ever or something rather,
- 8:12Speaker 3: you know, those Netflix crime things. I will be single
- 8:16Speaker 3: for the rest of my life, I'm telling you right now.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Those things are freaking me so far out.
- 8:21Speaker 4: What's the worst thing you've heard?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Oh, there's someone dies every episode. But they all meet
- 8:26Speaker 3: on like your dating apps and stuff and they all
- 8:28Speaker 3: seem quite normal at the start. So single girl over here.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Have you ever done the dating apps?
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I did.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 3: For two seconds.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I think it's hard when you have a profile, not
- 8:40Speaker 1: as in like a dating profile, when you have a
- 8:42Speaker 1: public profile. That must be a weird thing. None of
- 8:46Speaker 1: this was invented when I met my husband at a
- 8:49Speaker 1: job interview. The old-fashioned way, put out for someone at work.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Let me tell you a funny story, though, and I'm
- 8:54Speaker 3: not sure if I'll get into trouble by this particular
- 8:57Speaker 3: company or not. But it's one of the exclusive ones.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That you have to be invited by someone and you
- 9:06Speaker 3: have to have references and stuff. So somebody I know
- 9:09Speaker 3: that wanted me to find a fella put this thing
- 9:14Speaker 3: to me and she did the references and whatever, sent
- 9:17Speaker 3: me the link, and I thought because she's made so
- 9:19Speaker 3: much of an effort, I will get on there and
- 9:21Speaker 3: I'll do this one, right? So it's more celebrities and blah,
- 9:25Speaker 3: which automatically makes me feel uncomfortable because I'm like, who
- 9:28Speaker 3: are these people that think they're so much better than
- 9:29Speaker 3: everybody else that they have to be on this? Blah, blah, blah. Anyway,
- 9:33Speaker 3: one of the people that came up as an option
- 9:36Speaker 3: for me is now suddenly dating a very, very, very
- 9:43Speaker 3: famous American reality star. And I thought, oh, my God,
- 9:48Speaker 3: I could have been the precursor to that Kardashian family member.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So it's a Kardashian?
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Wow.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Okay. That's about the only American reality TV show.
- 9:58Speaker 3: How's that?
- 9:59Speaker 1: Wow. I know.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I had a little chuckle when I saw she started
- 10:01Speaker 3: dating him. I was like, oh, we matched.
- 10:04Speaker 1: That is your brush with Girls of the Playboy Mansion, really,
- 10:11Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 10:11Speaker 3: What is it, five degrees of separation, six degrees of separation?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Six degrees of Kevin Bacon, like everyone.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh, okay. That's a very interesting story.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I like that.
- 10:22Speaker 3: There was another one that came up too that I
- 10:24Speaker 3: won't say, but oh, wow.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Very good. All right. Well, we're going to have a
- 10:30Speaker 1: little break and we're going to come back and we're
- 10:32Speaker 1: going to talk about some big balls. Oh, well, we've
- 10:47Speaker 1: just had some really interesting Wow, I'm in shock. So
- 10:52Speaker 1: it's not what I thought it was going to be.
- 10:54Speaker 4: You're in shock and I'm Googling.
- 10:55Speaker 1: AFL player or something. It is someone further afield. This
- 10:59Speaker 1: person is in the world of celebrities, isn't it?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Which is so dumb because I'm not going to, oh, sure,
- 11:04Speaker 3: let's just meet in Central, I don't know.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but it.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Might be fun for Liz and I if you would
- 11:09Speaker 1: date some of these people.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Can you get back onto that thing.
- 11:13Speaker 3: And then just tell us how much we can just
- 11:16Speaker 3: Google things?
- 11:17Speaker 1: Well, your problem is a lot of celebrity blokes more
- 11:20Speaker 1: in the height world for me aren't they.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah big time and the thing with this particular
- 11:25Speaker 3: website is when those two you know two of the
- 11:28Speaker 3: famous more famous ones came up what do you naturally
- 11:30Speaker 3: do you take a screenshot don't you and then i
- 11:33Speaker 3: got an alert straight away that you're not allowed to
- 11:35Speaker 3: take screenshots you are breaking all the rules man so
- 11:39Speaker 3: you need.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It you would have needed another device Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 3: So I got into trouble. That's okay. I'm leaving anyway.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:47Speaker 4: And I'm taking my screenshots with me.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Telling my friends.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:54Speaker 1: So some netball. It's interesting having had so much netball, netball, netball, netball, netball, netball, netball,
- 11:59Speaker 1: and then everything is settling down, except it's not. So
- 12:02Speaker 1: there's a couple of things I want to talk about.
- 12:04Speaker 1: The Mavericks seem to be having 90,000 training partners. I'm
- 12:09Speaker 1: all here for this. It's very exciting. Great to see
- 12:11Speaker 1: Kate Eddy and Lucy Austin will not be lost to
- 12:13Speaker 1: the game.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I have a theory, though, that they're only having as
- 12:16Speaker 5: many training partners as I can think of funny things
- 12:18Speaker 5: for Gerard Murphy to do. So if he's got 15 more,
- 12:21Speaker 5: someone's got 20 more funny ideas, well, then there's 20
- 12:24Speaker 5: more training partners coming.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Isn't there? He's been a busy bee, hasn't he?
- 12:27Speaker 4: He's been very busy and I'm here for it.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Loving it.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think he's talented in the social media space.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Although you can tell when they're asking him to do
- 12:34Speaker 1: something that he's like, oh, I didn't think of this one.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But he's a great sport.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I love it. But you're right.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Is he going to be on our summer series?
- 12:41Speaker 3: He is coming on our summer series. But I didn't
- 12:44Speaker 3: know if we were allowed to say anything so I
- 12:45Speaker 3: sat quietly then.
- 12:46Speaker 4: But, yes, he is.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Oh.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Well, you won't know, obviously, because I'll make them a
- 12:50Speaker 1: surprise every week for you.
- 12:52Speaker 3: So let's just pretend we don't know, that I haven't
- 12:55Speaker 3: organised them all. Let's pretend that that's not happened.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, for dribblers who don't know, over the summer break,
- 13:01Speaker 1: we will pre-record interviews and they're always great evergreen interviews.
- 13:06Speaker 1: We've done two seasons of the summer series now and
- 13:08Speaker 1: I encourage you to go back and listen to them.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Because they're really great chats. Who have we had? Maddie Proud,
- 13:15Speaker 1: Steph Fretwell, former international.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Umpire Rachel Eyre.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Stacey Marinkovic has been on.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Stacey Marinkovic, thank you very much. Simone McGuinness. We've had
- 13:23Speaker 1: Dan Ryan. Gosh, we've had so many.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Bryony Akel will also be on this summer series and
- 13:30Speaker 3: will happily talk all things.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's great. I can't wait for that.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And just a reminder, just to lock her in further,
- 13:38Speaker 1: she will be at our Constellation Eve Cup event on
- 13:41Speaker 1: the 24th of October, so get your tickets. But, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 1: can we talk about how– are the Mavs, like all
- 13:47Speaker 1: of these training partners, can anyone have this many training partners?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Like can any club go.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I think there's a limit of four training partners, isn't there? Oh, see,
- 13:56Speaker 3: this is when we need Sue Gordy and I.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but what's the difference between a training partner and
- 14:00Speaker 1: an 11th player?
- 14:02Speaker 4: Oh, the 11th player has certain rules around them.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It's designed to give opportunities to under-21s Australian players. So
- 14:08Speaker 4: that's one thing.
- 14:09Speaker 3: And they have to have a limited number of games
- 14:11Speaker 3: played that they qualify, so you can't have a super
- 14:14Speaker 3: experienced person in your 11th. Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 5: And then training partners are different and that's about, As
- 14:21Speaker 5: much as I know.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 3: But Lucy Austin and Kate Eddy now training partners for
- 14:28Speaker 3: the Mavs, which is crazy to think, isn't it? But
- 14:31Speaker 3: I mean, if you think of Hinchcliffe coming back from
- 14:34Speaker 3: that ACL injury, not sure if she's going to be
- 14:37Speaker 3: smack bang ready to go at the start of the season.
- 14:39Speaker 3: So Eddy straight away will be on court for them,
- 14:42Speaker 3: which is smart from the Mavs, isn't it?
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's very smart. And so what this
- 14:48Speaker 1: means is that Kate Eddy and Lucy Austin and anyone
- 14:52Speaker 1: who gets a training partner role, they can train with
- 14:55Speaker 1: the team all the time. They can do their strength
- 14:58Speaker 1: and conditioning. They can do, they can.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I don't think they can because then it crosses the
- 15:05Speaker 3: line into whether they should be paid or not. I
- 15:07Speaker 3: don't think they do every single session is my understanding,
- 15:11Speaker 3: but they are at a lot of the training sessions.
- 15:14Speaker 5: And so lots of teams name their training partners, but
- 15:17Speaker 5: probably we don't, sit up and take notice unless it's
- 15:22Speaker 5: Lucy Austin or Katie or big names like that. So
- 15:25Speaker 5: it's exciting and smart work by the Mavs.
- 15:27Speaker 3: And I mean, they still have to play somewhere too.
- 15:29Speaker 3: So they'll be playing in whatever league they need to play.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So they'll be playing in the VNL or whatever it's called.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Yeah, because otherwise they would never play throughout the season
- 15:39Speaker 3: if they're a training partner not getting on court with a,
- 15:42Speaker 3: sunk up super netball.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Or so poor lucy austin's moving state again so she
- 15:47Speaker 1: was in south australia and then she came to new
- 15:49Speaker 1: south wales for a year and now she's off to
- 15:51Speaker 1: victoria be nice to her victoria she's been moving all
- 15:53Speaker 1: the time so make sure you well i did i
- 15:56Speaker 1: see no difficulty that that that mavs club seems a
- 15:59Speaker 1: very tight very friendly one did you see their messages
- 16:01Speaker 1: to molly jovic their farewell messages and you know what's
- 16:04Speaker 1: a mav always a mav type thing just very classy
- 16:08Speaker 1: and sweet and just, you know, they are, yeah, I've
- 16:12Speaker 1: got to be everyone's second team, right? But New Zealand,
- 16:16Speaker 1: so there is a comp going to be in New
- 16:19Speaker 1: Zealand in 2027. Five teams? Five teams, is it?
- 16:26Speaker 4: I think I read somewhere it's five teams.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yep.
- 16:29Speaker 4: So.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Well done to Ali Williams and Anna Mowbray for stepping
- 16:33Speaker 5: in and providing the capital to allow this to happen.
- 16:36Speaker 5: It was just interesting reading some of the reaction out
- 16:39Speaker 5: of New Zealand. It was so emotional, which I get
- 16:43Speaker 5: because I didn't know if there was going to be
- 16:44Speaker 5: a leg next year. So I get that they're going
- 16:47Speaker 5: to start small and hopefully expand. But I think it's
- 16:50Speaker 5: a really interesting model.
- 16:52Speaker 3: The starting small is good for me because you are
- 16:55Speaker 3: going to have the best players in those teams. It's
- 16:58Speaker 3: going to be a far better quality. I mean, the
- 17:00Speaker 3: New Zealand League is amazing. There's incredible athletes across the board.
- 17:03Speaker 3: But at least you know now that these teams are
- 17:06Speaker 3: fighting for the best athletes they can get their hands
- 17:08Speaker 3: on in a smaller competition, smaller number of players. It'll
- 17:11Speaker 3: be awesome to watch. Oh, no.
- 17:13Speaker 1: 10 of their best players are now contracted to Australian
- 17:17Speaker 1: teams for 2027.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Facts. But the ones left over will be cracking.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I wonder if we'll have many Australians heading that way. Like,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I wonder, is this an opportunity for someone like Sharni Lambden,
- 17:27Speaker 1: for instance? And I don't know whether moving to New
- 17:30Speaker 1: Zealand would be something of appeal. But, you know, it's
- 17:32Speaker 1: like whether this will now create that opportunity for some
- 17:35Speaker 1: further cross-pollination there. I think it's very exciting. Maybe we
- 17:40Speaker 1: should take No Dribble over to New Zealand next year
- 17:42Speaker 1: and go and watch a game.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Well, I had the Texas– what was the netball team, Texas?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Texas Blue Bells. Yes. I was going to say Blue Bottles,
- 17:48Speaker 1: but I'm sure it's Blue Bells.
- 17:49Speaker 3: No, it can't be.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Blue Bonnets.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Blue Bonnets it is. The Texas Blue Bonnets. I've been
- 17:53Speaker 3: chatting with them.
- 17:55Speaker 4: What?
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 4: You have not.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Because they posted the little clip from last week and
- 17:59Speaker 3: they said we're going to get over to Texas and
- 18:01Speaker 3: they started chatting on Insta. We're getting there. We're going
- 18:03Speaker 3: to make it happen.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Love it.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Love it. And then we'll put New Zealand on the
- 18:06Speaker 3: list after that.
- 18:07Speaker 1: World domination– But I will say to New Zealand dribblers,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and we know that there are a lot of you
- 18:11Speaker 1: and a growing number, so please invite your friends to
- 18:14Speaker 1: listen to this lovely podcast, get behind the comp. It's
- 18:19Speaker 1: really exciting but I guess it's a fragile time for
- 18:22Speaker 1: them so it's like you need to have people there
- 18:26Speaker 1: going and cheering and watching and buying memberships. Is there
- 18:31Speaker 1: a Wellington team? Maybe I should buy a membership of
- 18:33Speaker 1: a Wellington team. That's where my mum lives. Or Nelson,
- 18:35Speaker 1: that's where I was born. I don't know. Kiwi dribblers,
- 18:38Speaker 1: tell me. Tell me what to do. But, yeah, I
- 18:41Speaker 1: think that's really exciting. So we should, yeah, keep an
- 18:45Speaker 1: eye on that one and I think maybe that will
- 18:46Speaker 1: be one of our goals for 2027 is to have
- 18:49Speaker 1: more regular updates on what's happening in the UK and
- 18:52Speaker 1: New Zealand.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Do we know anyone who can maybe, darling?
- 18:57Speaker 3: We know heaps of people. Do you know who will
- 18:58Speaker 3: be on our summer series? Oh. Irene Van Dyke.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That is so exciting. We have been working on that.
- 19:06Speaker 3: And Kat Tuaviti.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Oh, so good.
- 19:08Speaker 4: So exciting.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Signing up all the big guns to chat with them.
- 19:11Speaker 4: No wonder it feels like summer.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Well, it's not yet. We have to do the work first, girls,
- 19:16Speaker 1: before we can– although some of us are having holidays already.
- 19:19Speaker 1: As we speak, some of us are on holidays. The
- 19:21Speaker 1: rest of us are waiting until the actual summer holidays.
- 19:24Speaker 4: To go on holidays. The rest of us are coaching
- 19:25Speaker 4: netball this weekend. That's what's happening. Good work, you.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Well, I'm not. Anyway, okay, so another thing I was
- 19:34Speaker 1: talking on Wednesday's episode, Sarah Gandon from the UK was
- 19:37Speaker 1: telling us about what they did at the World University
- 19:41Speaker 1: Games for Team Great Britain. But the reason that she
- 19:43Speaker 1: contacted me is last week we were talking about countries
- 19:46Speaker 1: that people are listening to No Dribble in and we
- 19:47Speaker 1: had Jersey and she said, you know, that could be
- 19:50Speaker 1: Serena Guthrie.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Ah.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Former Giants, former England player.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Could be Serena. Hello, Serena, if you're listening. And she's
- 20:01Speaker 1: a parliamentarian now. She's an elected representative. I don't know
- 20:04Speaker 1: quite what the correct terminology is. I think it might
- 20:07Speaker 1: be she's a senator. There's a system there that they
- 20:10Speaker 1: have in Jersey. But, yes, she has gone into politics,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I believe.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Can we vote for her to go into the House
- 20:15Speaker 4: of Lords? I think that would be great.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Isn't that just by birthright, House of Lords?
- 20:21Speaker 4: Oh, that's true.
- 20:21Speaker 1: House of Commons is the one where they get elected.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Although I think there is a transition out of that
- 20:25Speaker 1: for the House of Lords. They're going, okay, we can't
- 20:27Speaker 1: have this forever. So there's a percentage of them who
- 20:30Speaker 1: are now elected. Look at Catherine. She's loving it so much.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Would you go back and talk about the Kardashians?
- 20:34Speaker 4: Oh, well, no.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Do you know what I thought was coming? Are you
- 20:37Speaker 3: going to announce that I'm in another Hall of Fame
- 20:39Speaker 3: because you're trying to confuse me again like you did
- 20:41Speaker 3: last episode?
- 20:42Speaker 5: LAUGHTER Catherine, if we put you in a Hall of
- 20:46Speaker 5: Fame every time you were confused, you would be in many,
- 20:48Speaker 5: many halls of fame.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Exactly. We'd be running out of them. We'd be looking
- 20:52Speaker 3: for some country town that's got a Hall of Fame
- 20:55Speaker 3: for some random.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Well, it's very exciting. All right. Well, we are going
- 21:00Speaker 1: to have a little break and then we're going to
- 21:02Speaker 1: come back. And I did set you guys some homework.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I don't know whether you actually bothered to do it
- 21:07Speaker 1: this time, but let's talk about it. Okay, so.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Now, can I jump in?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Look what I found, Liz Ellis. I found.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Wow.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Like a stack of these. So when we did.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Can I have one?
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 3: When we did our Centurions stage show that Sue Gordian created.
- 21:38Speaker 1: What year was that?
- 21:39Speaker 3: Well, the first one was in line with the 2015
- 21:41Speaker 3: World Cup. That's right.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But I made these.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Liz Ellis was a brunette.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah, she was.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I made these photo tribute books because at the time
- 21:49Speaker 3: there was only four of us. So Liz Ellis, Cheryl McMahon,
- 21:51Speaker 3: Kath Cox, Vicky Wilson in order. Yeah. They're so fun,
- 21:55Speaker 3: aren't they? And I found a few of them, but
- 21:56Speaker 3: I thought we could potentially give these away to some dribblers. Perms?
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm not, yes. There are perms. There are perms in here.
- 22:05Speaker 3: There are photos of people in pineapple shirts with hair
- 22:09Speaker 3: braids in Jamaica. There's all sorts of brilliant stuff in
- 22:12Speaker 3: here and funny stuff. So I found four of them.
- 22:15Speaker 3: We will work out a way to give these away
- 22:17Speaker 3: to the dribblers.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Any ideas? I thought you were going to be announcing
- 22:21Speaker 1: today how they– Kath brought these along last week and
- 22:24Speaker 1: I said, I don't have time. You work it out. No, no,
- 22:27Speaker 1: we'll work it out.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Maybe the dribblers can give us some ideas.
- 22:30Speaker 1: This is my favourite bit though. So here's Catherine Cox,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Netball Australia Hall of Famer. What you might not be
- 22:35Speaker 1: able to see, blacked out there, she is standing next
- 22:37Speaker 1: to the Governor-General of Australia, Dame Quentin Bryce. And the
- 22:41Speaker 1: GG's been– but he faded into the background there.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Oh, is that treason?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 22:47Speaker 3: That that was my decision to do that.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Well, didn't you say you put these together?
- 22:52Speaker 3: I did put them together, but they went to the designer,
- 22:54Speaker 3: you know, to put it. So has everybody else blacked
- 22:57Speaker 3: out anyone? No, just me.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Just you.
- 22:59Speaker 4: That's terrible. Just you and the DG.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Just the Governor-General, the first female Governor-General of Australia.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Anyway, there's some very funny.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Oh, here's Family Feud. That's Vicky Wilson on Family Feud.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Yeah, with Sue Kenny, Michelle Dendecker and Vicky Wilson. I'm
- 23:13Speaker 3: in an Anzargent. Anyway. Wow. Sorry.
- 23:17Speaker 1: We'll just go to memory lane. We will drive that
- 23:20Speaker 1: competition through the Facebook group and sometime between now and
- 23:25Speaker 1: Friday when this goes to air, you'll work out what
- 23:28Speaker 1: you're going to do with it.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Sure. And I will post them.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I love it.
- 23:31Speaker 1: But here's something that I– so Catherine Reddy, long-time dribbler, hello, Catherine,
- 23:36Speaker 1: posted something on the Facebook group and she said, hear
- 23:39Speaker 1: me out, a party bus but it stops at a
- 23:41Speaker 1: coffee shop, then a bakery, a garden centre or three,
- 23:45Speaker 1: a thrift shop and finally a few bookstores before having
- 23:48Speaker 1: us back before 6pm. So I said I think this
- 23:53Speaker 1: party bus is very appealing but it's not quite there
- 23:56Speaker 1: for me. I can top out at one garden centre.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I think we need to add a bottle shop in there.
- 24:07Speaker 1: What else do we need to do on our party bus?
- 24:10Speaker 3: Oh, well, here's mine.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Yep.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Mine is definitely, I'm taking on the first two, coffee bakery, 100%. Yep.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I need to stop at a beach just for a
- 24:18Speaker 3: nice beach walk. Lovely. Bit of exercise.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Lovely.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Come back and I'm doing that exercise because now I
- 24:23Speaker 3: want to stop it for lunch.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Yes, good.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Somewhere nice.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Yep.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I'd like to then stop at some live sport.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Oh, nice.
- 24:28Speaker 3: In the afternoon. Don't know what that looks like. We
- 24:30Speaker 3: are most certainly then stopping in a wine bar after
- 24:33Speaker 3: that because I'll be thirsty after being at the sport. Yep.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And then it can take my ass home.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 1: So, wow. Hang on. Hall of Famer does not want
- 24:43Speaker 1: to go to a bookstore on the party bus.
- 24:44Speaker 3: No, shocker.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Liz?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Shocker.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I would go shopping though, some shopping, but definitely not
- 24:49Speaker 3: a bookstore.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm telling you about my friends who I get together
- 24:52Speaker 1: with and we went to Dolly Parton concerts around the
- 24:55Speaker 1: country a few years ago. But invariably what we will do,
- 24:57Speaker 1: we like to go out for lunch, just have a
- 24:59Speaker 1: couple of drinks and then go shopping and everybody buys something.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Guilt free, yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Everyone buys something that they probably wouldn't buy without but
- 25:09Speaker 1: then go– Actually, I like it.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 3: It's guilt-free. Yeah. Because your logic and your sense goes
- 25:17Speaker 3: out the window. Where would yours stop, Elizabeth?
- 25:20Speaker 5: Well, as you were doing it, I'm like, oh, she's
- 25:21Speaker 5: stolen my idea. Oh, she's stolen my idea. So I
- 25:24Speaker 5: do like it. Well, except for the bookshop. You've missed
- 25:26Speaker 5: the bookshop. I like the bookshop.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I had the beach as an option.
- 25:31Speaker 5: I thought about, you know, maybe getting dropped off at
- 25:33Speaker 5: one end of the beach and we could go for
- 25:35Speaker 5: a walk and then swim at the other end and
- 25:36Speaker 5: then get picked up.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Are we holding hands?
- 25:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Is it a romantic walk on the beach or is
- 25:42Speaker 1: it tampon commercial and we're frolicking in the waves?
- 25:45Speaker 4: Are we skipping?
- 25:46Speaker 3: I can say skipping, yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 4: No, I don't have any cartilage left anymore.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Could we ride.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Horses on the beach?
- 25:51Speaker 3: With Daryl Braithwaite playing?
- 25:55Speaker 4: Are we saddles or sans saddles?
- 25:58Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Saddles.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Well, I love the idea of that. Did you see
- 26:02Speaker 1: that old spy sad?
- 26:03Speaker 4: Look at the horse.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Now look at me.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Look at the horse.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Now look at me.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I do like the idea of horse riding, but I'm
- 26:10Speaker 4: too old for that now.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I can't ride the bike at the gym without being uncomfortable.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I can't get my way away from a horse without
- 26:16Speaker 3: a saddle.
- 26:16Speaker 1: So would we not put a gym in there in
- 26:19Speaker 1: the morning?
- 26:19Speaker 3: No. No, we're doing a beach walk. There's exercise.
- 26:23Speaker 1: It's not really exercise, is it?
- 26:24Speaker 3: It is. We're skipping it. That's right.
- 26:26Speaker 1: We're frolicking. Beach, baby, beach, baby.
- 26:29Speaker 4: We're going for a walk. We're going for it.
- 26:30Speaker 5: I want it to be a good sort of 4
- 26:32Speaker 5: to 5K walk so you really work out your appetite.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Then you have a swim and then you have a
- 26:37Speaker 5: coffee and some breakfast and then we can proceed with
- 26:40Speaker 5: going to the bookshop. But I do like the idea
- 26:42Speaker 5: of a wine bar but I need to be chaperoned
- 26:44Speaker 5: because once I settle into a wine bar, I'm there
- 26:46Speaker 5: till midnight and then I wake up.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks.
- 26:48Speaker 5: The next day I go, I meant to leave at
- 26:50Speaker 5: six and it didn't happen.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Why, why, why?
- 26:53Speaker 1: And why do I have this tattoo?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry.
- 26:57Speaker 5: I was about to say, and why do I have
- 26:58Speaker 5: this headache? But yeah, it's a tattoo. So look, we
- 27:00Speaker 5: can go to a wine bar, but as long as
- 27:02Speaker 5: there's someone like Selena, who Selena Gilson and former Swift,
- 27:06Speaker 5: former Diamonds player, who did not drink, still does not
- 27:09Speaker 5: drink to the best of my abilities. I just need
- 27:11Speaker 5: her there to say radio, Elizabeth, you've had enough.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Well, she can be the bus driver. She just get
- 27:14Speaker 3: off the bus and get us back on the bus.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Well, this is true.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 4: I mean, this sounds awfully like weekends that we've already had.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So fun hanging out with you guys for Selena. Just
- 27:24Speaker 1: more jobs to do.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Oh, dear. She laughs at us.
- 27:28Speaker 3: If we had to go via Messina on the bus
- 27:30Speaker 3: on the way home.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I see that would get me out of the wine bar.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Get out of the wine bar and get the bus.
- 27:33Speaker 4: We're going to go to Messina. I'd be all over that.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Actually, I wouldn't mind if we ended up at like
- 27:38Speaker 1: just a, dodgy chinese restaurant.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Honey king prawns when you're a little bit.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah yeah and just a spring roll in that in
- 27:46Speaker 1: that Fluorescent pink sauce. That sounds good. Okay, so there
- 27:52Speaker 1: we go. We've got our party bus somewhat worked out.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Thank you, Catherine, for sharing that. I have a No
- 27:58Speaker 1: Dribble Recommends. I went to a wedding last weekend. I
- 28:01Speaker 1: highly recommend going to weddings. They're very fun, but that's
- 28:03Speaker 1: not it. Beforehand, I went to Mecca and I got
- 28:07Speaker 1: a makeup lesson and I took all of my makeup
- 28:10Speaker 1: in because, you know, your skin changes as you get
- 28:13Speaker 1: older and I've just been– feeling more and more like
- 28:16Speaker 1: I'm just caking this shit on with no, you know,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I look like Barbara Cartland or something when I go
- 28:22Speaker 1: out now.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I don't know who that is.
- 28:25Speaker 1: She's the romance writer.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:28Speaker 1: But so she used to, Clive James described her eye
- 28:32Speaker 1: makeup as like two chalk cliffs that crows have fatally
- 28:36Speaker 1: crashed into.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Like she just used.
- 28:38Speaker 1: To have this white makeup with it. But anyway, so
- 28:40Speaker 1: I took my makeup along and then I got this
- 28:43Speaker 1: young woman. She did my makeup, but she also showed
- 28:46Speaker 1: me how to do it. And then she went, keep that.
- 28:48Speaker 4: That's good.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Keep that. That's good. All that goes in the bin.
- 28:51Speaker 1: This stuff you can keep, but it has to go
- 28:53Speaker 1: out in three months time. And then for the price
- 28:56Speaker 1: you pay to get your makeup done or have the lesson,
- 28:58Speaker 1: you redeem that on product.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Why not?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Like it was so good. Like I've come away with
- 29:03Speaker 1: some skills in an area that it's like, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 1: you learn to put your makeup on when you're about
- 29:07Speaker 1: 20 and then you don't change that.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:10Speaker 1: So that was good. And I sat there thinking whoever
- 29:13Speaker 1: set up Mecca is a genius. And so it's a
- 29:16Speaker 1: woman by the name of Jo Horgan who I think
- 29:20Speaker 1: was born in Britain and then lived in Australia. Set
- 29:24Speaker 1: up her first store from the proceeds of a sale
- 29:26Speaker 1: of a house. Did not turn a profit for four years.
- 29:30Speaker 1: And now, like, I don't know if you've been anywhere
- 29:33Speaker 1: near a Mecca store recently.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Girlfriends turning profit.
- 29:37Speaker 1: It is amazing. It is just, that was such, sort
- 29:40Speaker 1: of over the horizon thinking from her at the time
- 29:43Speaker 1: that she did it. I really admire her. So there
- 29:46Speaker 1: we go. No Dribbble recommends getting a young person to
- 29:49Speaker 1: show you how to do your makeup.
- 29:50Speaker 5: So Catherine and I often get, Catherine more so now,
- 29:54Speaker 5: Coxie gets her makeup done more than I do and
- 29:57Speaker 5: I would like to think that I should learn something,
- 30:00Speaker 5: but I don't.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I just sit there and gasp bag.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Sit and chat. So Carolyn, what was something that you
- 30:06Speaker 5: learned that surprised you that you thought, oh my goodness,
- 30:08Speaker 5: I'd never thought of that?
- 30:10Speaker 1: Well, and you'll appreciate this, Liz, because of the way
- 30:13Speaker 1: that it went into my brain. So I never use
- 30:14Speaker 1: a primer. I just put moisturiser on and went and then, well. So,
- 30:18Speaker 1: you know, if you're painting a room, you don't just
- 30:21Speaker 1: go and put the paint straight on. You know, you
- 30:24Speaker 1: do some prep because otherwise the paint.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Will just peel off.
- 30:30Speaker 1: But so a primer is something that you put on
- 30:33Speaker 1: your skin first and then you put the foundation on
- 30:37Speaker 1: after that. And also she said, She said, you go
- 30:40Speaker 1: too hard with the concealer. It's like, yes, because I've
- 30:42Speaker 1: got bloody massive grey bags under my eyes. You don't
- 30:46Speaker 1: use the thing on your concealer on your eyes. Tap
- 30:49Speaker 1: it on the back of your hand. And she said,
- 30:50Speaker 1: that way you can control the amount and it dries
- 30:53Speaker 1: and then goes in. Because I was getting to the
- 30:55Speaker 1: point where it's like I would put my makeup on
- 30:57Speaker 1: and I never wear a lot of makeup. So then
- 30:59Speaker 1: when it's time to go out, I have no practice.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And it's like, God, that looks horrendous. Keep going. But
- 31:05Speaker 1: that I would have it in creases under the eyes.
- 31:07Speaker 1: So she showed me how to do it such that
- 31:10Speaker 1: it covers it the way I want it to but
- 31:12Speaker 1: without having those.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Sounds like SPAC filler.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Yeah. It was so good. That's very cool.
- 31:17Speaker 3: But the primer, that's what I learnt. Yeah, it's undercoat.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And these young women know so much more about make-up
- 31:24Speaker 1: than we do, even the ones who are not professional
- 31:27Speaker 1: make-up artists, because YouTube gives them so much more expertise
- 31:30Speaker 1: but also because they're the Mecca and Sephora generation.
- 31:33Speaker 3: It's actually genius because I've been on YouTube before to
- 31:37Speaker 3: look at tutorials just to see what I'm missing, but
- 31:39Speaker 3: you've got to have the product. So having, going there
- 31:42Speaker 3: and actually telling them of your stuff, what's useful and
- 31:44Speaker 3: what's not is smart. Well done, I might do that myself.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Highly recommended. And then I looked great for the wedding.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And it was, it was amazing because then at the
- 31:53Speaker 1: end of the day, so I got this done at
- 31:54Speaker 1: sort of 10.30 in the morning. We get home from
- 31:56Speaker 1: the wedding at Half past 10, it was 3 o'clock
- 31:59Speaker 1: wedding by 7 o'clock. We're like, when can we go home?
- 32:02Speaker 1: But anyway, we stayed until an appropriate time. But my
- 32:06Speaker 1: makeup was still looking really good 12 hours later and
- 32:09Speaker 1: it's like when I was– before I did this, when
- 32:11Speaker 1: I'm putting it on, an hour later I look in
- 32:13Speaker 1: the mirror and go, has any makeup ever been near
- 32:16Speaker 1: this face?
- 32:16Speaker 3: Where did that raccoon come from?
- 32:18Speaker 1: Anyway, so that's my No Dribble recommends. Go to Mecca
- 32:21Speaker 1: and get a makeup lesson.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Oh, I love it.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Well, holiday maker sitting here. smelling coconut for the entire session,
- 32:30Speaker 1: the entire Hall of Fame announcement session. This has been
- 32:35Speaker 1: a great week of podcasts for us, for me. Lovely
- 32:39Speaker 1: to be here for this nice moment. Very exciting. Catherine Cox,
- 32:43Speaker 1: Netball Australia, Hall of Famer, as of the 30th of October.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Don't tell anyone, everyone.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Keep it under.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Wraps until the 30th. This is just between the 60,000
- 32:51Speaker 1: of us, okay, dribblers?
- 32:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Okay, well, that's all we have time for. Thanks for
- 32:58Speaker 1: joining us. Don't forget to get your tickets for our
- 33:00Speaker 1: Constellation Cup Eve event. Have a great week. My name's
- 33:04Speaker 1: Carolyn Swindell.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I'm Kath Cox. Bye, guys.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I'm Liz Ellis. Have fun in Balu. Bye.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Bye.
- 33:14Speaker 4: I don't think she saw that coming.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I don't think she saw that coming either. What I
- 33:18Speaker 1: do think she's going to need to know, though, is
- 33:20Speaker 1: my advice about Mecca because her fake tan has streaked
- 33:23Speaker 1: all down her face. A few tears. It was quite moving.
- 33:28Speaker 4: It was so good. I loved it. And you couldn't
- 33:30Speaker 4: see her face.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I was watching her face as we were talking and
- 33:33Speaker 5: to see, like you could see the cogs turning, like what, what, what?
- 33:38Speaker 3: It was great.
