Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Previously on Relatables Baddies book Club.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I reckon, here's my throw in the dark. She is
- 0:05Speaker 2: going to become really close to Kale, and Kale doesn't
- 0:09Speaker 2: actually like the king because the king forced him into
- 0:12Speaker 2: the Royal Guard and did something to his family and
- 0:15Speaker 2: that's why he became the leader of the Royal Guard
- 0:19Speaker 2: when it was because.
- 0:19Speaker 1: He's so young. He's only twenty uh huh.
- 0:22Speaker 2: And those two are going to try and come to
- 0:24Speaker 2: a plan to kill the king, but they can't, and
- 0:29Speaker 2: instead of doing that, they're going to save some people
- 0:31Speaker 2: from the salt mines.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Welcome to Relatables Baddies book Club, where we will embark
- 0:36Speaker 1: on a journey reading some of the finest pieces of
- 0:38Speaker 1: literature you have ever laid eyes or he is if
- 0:41Speaker 1: that's your preferred way to consume a book. On No.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Throne of Glass Chapters ten through to twenty, let's go, Jake,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I would like to say that the book is turning up,
- 0:55Speaker 2: which it's not, but it's also not turning up, if
- 0:58Speaker 2: that makes sense.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I it sucks. Haven't read it. I want to
- 1:04Speaker 1: use the word edging. Yeah yeah, yeah, yea yeah. I
- 1:07Speaker 1: feel like I'm being just edged.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Chapter and chapter and chapter on chapter on chapter on
- 1:12Speaker 2: chapter on chapter on chapter on, chapter on chapter.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It's kind of like if you were at the movie
- 1:18Speaker 1: theater and someone said through the whole movie you have
- 1:21Speaker 1: to eat one piece of popcorn at a time, because
- 1:23Speaker 1: you know how you're start eating one piece and then
- 1:25Speaker 1: you start shoveling it. Like we haven't had any shoveling
- 1:28Speaker 1: at this point of the book yet. I thought you
- 1:30Speaker 1: were going to say something completely different than I No, no,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm not sexual, like you nasty motherfucker. How do you know?
- 1:37Speaker 1: How do you know? That's what I was thinking, because
- 1:38Speaker 1: you were talking about edging. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then
- 1:40Speaker 1: you went to the movies. Yeah, I mean I was
- 1:42Speaker 1: in Cinema six, but like I was just eating popcorn. Man, Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you're going to say you.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Kin a bit freaky, and then like the what are
- 1:49Speaker 2: they called the usher comes up with.
- 1:51Speaker 1: A torch and then like have you have you ever? No,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I have not Jake gone to a movie theater for
- 1:58Speaker 1: a date or anything.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I wouldn't classify as a date. I'd be like called
- 2:04Speaker 2: a hangout because you're not talking.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember, yeah, I remember. For
- 2:12Speaker 1: some reason, it's like our school or or our year
- 2:17Speaker 1: group went through a phase where they thought like the
- 2:22Speaker 1: movies was the place to do ship Mmmm.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I feel like that's a natural, like young person's progression though,
- 2:28Speaker 2: because you can't go to your parents' house obviously, and
- 2:30Speaker 2: you don't have.
- 2:30Speaker 1: You like and oh, this is fucking the most I remember.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I think this might have been the first time that
- 2:40Speaker 1: I ever touched a boobs with my girlfriend at the
- 2:46Speaker 1: time here in at first year on book love. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: it was like my first girlfriend and we went to
- 2:56Speaker 1: the movies, and I think it was the first time
- 2:58Speaker 1: I got to feel a boob. To be fair fitting
- 3:00Speaker 1: for this book, because I feel like that's all that's
- 3:02Speaker 1: going to happen in it. Oh yeah yeah, yeah, not
- 3:05Speaker 1: even that, mate, Yeah. And then I wanted to touch
- 3:10Speaker 1: on pronunciations Jake, yeah, yeah, yeah, here you are.
- 3:13Speaker 2: We aligned with almost all of them, except for I
- 3:18Speaker 2: was saying khole yeah yeah, yeah, that's what the audiobook
- 3:21Speaker 2: was saying, right, Yeah, you were saying kale.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yeah. So we've got the sound play it. Oh, is
- 3:28Speaker 1: this the audiobook? Yeah, this is the audiobook, which you
- 3:31Speaker 1: think would be right, Yeah, but like, how much do
- 3:34Speaker 1: surgery mass have to do with that? Because I'm basing
- 3:37Speaker 1: it off as the baddies. Who I trust more than
- 3:38Speaker 1: a fucking audiobook.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Oddie, Surely someone's approved it, but I feel like we're
- 3:45Speaker 2: both wrong.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's kind of in the middle, don't you reckon kal
- 3:47Speaker 1: stood with Dorian okay kal? Yeah, it's like kale no kal,
- 3:53Speaker 1: not you're saying k kale. I feel like it's in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the middle, mate. She's she's literally just saying kale, but
- 4:01Speaker 1: instead of kale, it's kol. She's just pronouncing it like
- 4:04Speaker 1: the c H is are k and she's literally sounding
- 4:07Speaker 1: it out. Yeah, I guess I guess it. Whoever read
- 4:12Speaker 1: that who got paid She shouldn't be paid for that.
- 4:14Speaker 1: This one's not great. Hey.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It's also like challenging to listen to because it's one
- 4:18Speaker 2: voice actor and she plays all the characters. So when
- 4:21Speaker 2: there's like Dora in or Kale and stuff, it's still
- 4:24Speaker 2: a woman's voice. And then they're like kind of like
- 4:25Speaker 2: having banter back and forth, and then you're like, yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the second I need to get into like picturing what
- 4:30Speaker 2: Dorain looks like. But then it's still the same voice
- 4:32Speaker 2: putting on a voice. So it's kind of weird.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, reading akatar as the first series with having and
- 4:37Speaker 1: also having every single actar book dramatized audio, was like
- 4:42Speaker 1: a bad idea. I know, It's like I've when I
- 4:46Speaker 1: read the series read Rising, because it's like kind of
- 4:48Speaker 1: in depth and long. I would sometimes if I was
- 4:50Speaker 1: cleaning my house, I would listen to it while I
- 4:52Speaker 1: was cleaning the house. Yeah, And they had a few
- 4:55Speaker 1: of the books fully dramatized audio, and they were hectic.
- 4:59Speaker 1: But the and I got up to about like the
- 5:02Speaker 1: fourth book, and it was just one It was one
- 5:06Speaker 1: guy reading, and so he was like his normal voice
- 5:10Speaker 1: was the main character's voice, but then he would put
- 5:13Speaker 1: on a different voice for it, so annoying. It's jarring
- 5:15Speaker 1: even and they would have whole chapters of just either
- 5:18Speaker 1: the main character and then other characters. Like they did
- 5:20Speaker 1: that type. It was multipov and so when he would
- 5:23Speaker 1: do a woman's voice, it was the most jarring thing.
- 5:27Speaker 1: The same other voices. Yeah, I was like, fuck me,
- 5:30Speaker 1: like how come they haven't finished this series in the
- 5:32Speaker 1: dramatized audio, Like don't post this shit, Like.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Sure surely there's a budget to have more one voice
- 5:38Speaker 2: actor too, even if it's not dramatized about the sounds
- 5:40Speaker 2: just like talk to each other.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So I'm thinking too, like these series, bro they rake
- 5:45Speaker 1: in money? Was this because this is old? When did
- 5:48Speaker 1: this come out? Oh yeah, fair while ago? Like was
- 5:51Speaker 1: it massive when it first came out? Or did Sarah J.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Mass's like name become massive after Akatar? It's a good
- 5:58Speaker 1: question actually because I swear you see.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Every single book has number one New York Times best
- 6:02Speaker 2: Selling Author. I swear if you're an author, you just
- 6:04Speaker 2: automatically become that.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I was just like, I was just say, like, how
- 6:08Speaker 1: hard is it to be like the New York Times
- 6:10Speaker 1: Best How many books do you need to sell in
- 6:15Speaker 1: New York to be New York Times Bestselling author?
- 6:17Speaker 2: It must be they just put them on rotation in
- 6:19Speaker 2: the bookshop. They all get like fifty each and then they.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Set out, Yeah, New York Times Bestselling author, and like
- 6:24Speaker 1: does that sell more books? Like? And it's like are
- 6:28Speaker 1: we judging that based off of something else? You know
- 6:33Speaker 1: what I mean? Like I don't feel like I don't
- 6:35Speaker 1: reckon I look at New York Times Bestselling author and
- 6:37Speaker 1: think like, oh my god, like that's the best. Like
- 6:40Speaker 1: it's like I would say if a movie got like
- 6:43Speaker 1: ninety nine and rotten Tomatoes, I would be like, that
- 6:45Speaker 1: must be a good movie. But if I see a
- 6:47Speaker 1: New York Times bestselling author, I don't think, Wow, that
- 6:49Speaker 1: must be a good author.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I feel that's funny. I actually agree with you too
- 6:52Speaker 2: in a sense. Books are almost the same as podcasts.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Like the only way I feel like you'll take a
- 6:57Speaker 2: recommendation is if a friend or some one you like
- 7:00Speaker 2: trust tells you that it's good.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so bad. If you're enjoying.
- 7:05Speaker 2: If you're enjoying this podcast, help us out and tell
- 7:08Speaker 2: a friend to tell a friend that club is back.
- 7:12Speaker 2: We've thrown of glass And to reiterate, this is the
- 7:16Speaker 2: second of I think there's five parts, but all of
- 7:18Speaker 2: them are available on Patreon right now for eight ninety
- 7:22Speaker 2: nine a month, and you don't have to wait week
- 7:25Speaker 2: on week on week, and you can just go binge
- 7:27Speaker 2: all of them.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Why would you not want to do that. We're recapping
- 7:33Speaker 1: every chapter, thoughts and theories to every clond twist. We'll
- 7:38Speaker 1: break it down for you, all right, So we finished
- 7:44Speaker 1: off last one like last recap, we finished off with
- 7:47Speaker 1: I believe Selena and all the other competitors we've brought
- 7:51Speaker 1: forth to the king. Correct, Yeah, correct. So now he's like,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you motherfuckers have all been chosen to be my champion.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I think he goes with my chance and one chance,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you do all my dirty deeds, all right? If you win,
- 8:09Speaker 1: you work for me, and you earn your freedom. After
- 8:12Speaker 1: your time is up, you're free to go, and I'm
- 8:15Speaker 1: going to pay you a shit ton by the way.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Yeah how And Slena's like, Slena's like, fuck, do I
- 8:21Speaker 1: even want to win this thing? Like do I even
- 8:22Speaker 1: want to work for this guy? And I was thinking
- 8:24Speaker 1: that's a foally question. But then she's like, nah, if
- 8:26Speaker 1: I one more day in that salt mine, and I'm
- 8:29Speaker 1: fucking necking myself, That's what she's like. Nah.
- 8:32Speaker 2: One thing I'm struggling with, do you reckon? Selena doesn't
- 8:35Speaker 2: really have the vibe of an assassin.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Well, one thing I say, so, One thing I would
- 8:43Speaker 3: say I noticed is that it's like I was just
- 8:49Speaker 3: trying to really convince myself you know, it's fantasy.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It's fantasy. It's fantasy because like she is a very
- 8:58Speaker 1: beautiful woman, she's she's apparently stunning, and she got picked
- 9:04Speaker 1: up or like you know, this guy the king of
- 9:07Speaker 1: assassins fucking comes around. His name's Arabin, or some shit
- 9:13Speaker 1: company finds her, like her parents are gorn Sky's or
- 9:16Speaker 1: something finds her, brings her in and is like gonna
- 9:19Speaker 1: train you to be an assassin. She's only like eighteen
- 9:22Speaker 1: or nineteen now. She got found when she was like
- 9:24Speaker 1: nine or eleven or around that age, and within that
- 9:27Speaker 1: amount of time she's literally become the whole entire country's
- 9:30Speaker 1: best assassin, and she's like feared by everyone, and she's
- 9:36Speaker 1: just like this very beautiful, like they almost like explain
- 9:40Speaker 1: her as a bit fragile, but then but then she's not.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And you know, I just think, like this whole book.
- 9:46Speaker 1: They what I was thinking, at least, was so the
- 9:52Speaker 1: book we're going to read third is going to explain
- 9:56Speaker 1: a lot to us, because I believe it's it's a
- 9:59Speaker 1: book of short stories of the things she's done as
- 10:04Speaker 1: an assassin.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Okay, okay, which yeah, which might help with like the
- 10:09Speaker 2: way I'm picturing her, because I'm getting like, I know,
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'm only what twenty chapters in m path vibes, and
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm not getting like cutthroat killer and most notorious assassin
- 10:20Speaker 2: now like that, Yeah, like apparently she used to go
- 10:22Speaker 2: around just like fucking slitting necks and shit like no problem,
- 10:27Speaker 2: or like from the top of a roof like a
- 10:28Speaker 2: mile away, like arrow through someone's head, Like it's not
- 10:32Speaker 2: something I can picture her doing either, like she cares
- 10:34Speaker 2: too much. But yeah, actually that's a good point, like
- 10:37Speaker 2: I'm keen to see like what she's done. And we
- 10:39Speaker 2: find out a little bit about her like childhood.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Within these chapters in a sense of like, yeah, what
- 10:45Speaker 1: was it that guy picked her up?
- 10:46Speaker 2: And then he didn't say after training her for nine
- 10:49Speaker 2: years that he had like a debt to repay to
- 10:50Speaker 2: her or whatever.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So first, okay, So basically we go from he's like,
- 10:55Speaker 1: you guys could be my champion. He's like, I'm actually
- 10:57Speaker 1: fucking off right. The King goes I'm actually leaving, like
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'll be back in like I'll be back for the finale.
- 11:04Speaker 1: But oh, mate Brulo something Fadus Bruler or something like that,
- 11:08Speaker 1: who's my weapons master and top top army captain, Like
- 11:13Speaker 1: he's going to run the show and he's going to
- 11:15Speaker 1: judge you. Every week there'll be a competition and you
- 11:17Speaker 1: get to train in between. So they're like okay, cool
- 11:21Speaker 1: and so each person sponsored Selena, who is now known
- 11:26Speaker 1: as Lilian Soaring Gale or something like that, sore and
- 11:29Speaker 1: Gale is sorry, that's Violot Lily Gordon. Yeah, yeah, something
- 11:40Speaker 1: like that. So she's like, that's what everyone knows, arous
- 11:43Speaker 1: because apparently if they know that Adelain's Adalin's assassin is there,
- 11:48Speaker 1: then they're just going to be like no, no, no,
- 11:50Speaker 1: we're out, like where can we kill ourselves? Like that's
- 11:52Speaker 1: how scary she is. AnyWho, So all of the King's
- 11:56Speaker 1: nearest and dearest, like high up, higher ups have sponsored someone.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Duke Perrington, he's sponsored kine the Big Dog. Yeah, and
- 12:06Speaker 1: then we had learned about like there's there's thirteen others.
- 12:11Speaker 1: There's like twenty one at the beginning or some shit,
- 12:13Speaker 1: there's so many. No, that's thirteen. I'll tell you what.
- 12:16Speaker 2: This is funny. This might mean something to some English baddies.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So do you know who Harry Kane is? Yeah, Tottenham
- 12:22Speaker 2: ex Tottenham striker. I think he's part of like Bayern Munich.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'm picturing his face as like a warrior.
- 12:28Speaker 1: See I didn't picture that. I see that whenever I
- 12:31Speaker 1: see kine a. So apparently apparently he's massive he's a
- 12:34Speaker 1: brickable yeah, which Harry Kane was up top number nine,
- 12:38Speaker 1: that's right. And so now so Slena's sponsored by Dorian
- 12:43Speaker 1: and then but Dorian has chosen like Kal or Kal
- 12:47Speaker 1: whatever to train Selena. Yeah, so now it's about the training.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And so her first day of training, she's like, oh
- 12:55Speaker 1: my god, I'm chopped a like one year at Endovia
- 12:58Speaker 1: and this I can't do fuck all. And Kale's like
- 13:01Speaker 1: toy with her a bit. He kind of does say
- 13:02Speaker 1: to her like you're good with a sword, but like
- 13:05Speaker 1: you're also just you're not great anymore or whatever, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: she didn't she didn't expect coal to be so good. Yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 1: Kales are beast apparently.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, apparently he's like equivalent almost as good as her
- 13:16Speaker 2: when he's like, when she's fully trained, she's better, but
- 13:18Speaker 2: right now he's like got it on her.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. She always will also
- 13:24Speaker 1: get into interactions with people and be like could split
- 13:26Speaker 1: his like could break his neck right now, could kill
- 13:28Speaker 1: him right now, but I won't do it, by the way,
- 13:30Speaker 1: but but I won't do it, okay, And then we
- 13:34Speaker 1: go in a little bit and then I think we
- 13:36Speaker 1: do learn about so like Kale and and and it's Elena.
- 13:41Speaker 1: They kind of become like mates because they're close all
- 13:44Speaker 1: the time.
- 13:45Speaker 2: We're getting that viabey and like Dorian's like we find
- 13:48Speaker 2: out it's like best mates of Kale.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But he's like, watch out, she knows what she's doing.
- 13:51Speaker 1: He's like, you don't think I can look after myself, bitch? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Kale's Kale's fallen for this girl and she nsions. Kale
- 14:00Speaker 1: is ugly but handsome in a weird way, so like
- 14:05Speaker 1: he's just ugly, But like, what are you picturing for Kale?
- 14:09Speaker 1: For Kale, I have like a picture, I picture Kale.
- 14:14Speaker 1: He's a relatively tall, white guy with dark hair, a
- 14:20Speaker 1: bit of stubble at all times, right, but like he's
- 14:24Speaker 1: the type he's like like he's like, I'm picturing like
- 14:28Speaker 1: what you would say if you're just like he's like
- 14:30Speaker 1: a man, Like I'm picturing like a man. Does that
- 14:32Speaker 1: make any sense? Do you remember? In yeah, one hundred percent,
- 14:35Speaker 1: I'm similar long black hair. I was thinking more like
- 14:39Speaker 1: my length.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I was picturing kind of In the Hobbit, the second one,
- 14:44Speaker 2: the guy kills the dragon whatever his name is.
- 14:47Speaker 1: The guy who kills the dragon yeh yeh yeh yeh.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah whatever his name was that vibe kale because
- 14:53Speaker 2: he's like, he's like kind of handsome, but then he's just.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Like a burly man. He's just sexy. Yeah, yeah, that vibe.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So I'm getting that, you know, it's giving John Snow vibes. Yes, yes, yes, John, Yeah,
- 15:06Speaker 1: very much. So Dorian is Dorian black.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I just have worn.
- 15:11Speaker 1: At one point it said Dorian had like dark brown skin.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I don't, and so basically, and so if I'm wrong,
- 15:16Speaker 1: then I'm wigging out because I've been picturing Dorian as
- 15:19Speaker 1: like fucking Michael B. Jordan this whole time.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Well, he is every every single bloody person in the
- 15:25Speaker 2: land kind of because of his status, but also because
- 15:28Speaker 2: he's handsome.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Ass only he's sexy, want to be in his pants
- 15:32Speaker 1: and bees wi yeah yeah yeah, yeah, apparently he's sexy.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And Dorian he we find out he was broken harder
- 15:39Speaker 1: at one point, and this mother fuckers like nineteen or
- 15:40Speaker 1: some shit, he's been full broken harder before. Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Well, it's like it's like a weird thing to conceptualize
- 15:46Speaker 2: because to me, it's giving like the eighteen hundreds. But
- 15:48Speaker 2: then it's also for some reason giving like future s.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Ish as well. Weird.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I'm like weird, caught him behind, caught between my mind
- 15:55Speaker 2: of what it is, still conceptualizing it a bit.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It like annoys me how they talk about having toilet
- 16:00Speaker 1: and shit and I'm thinking, like, but you're in a castle,
- 16:02Speaker 1: Like what are you talking about?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, glass castle? But I think the glass castle is
- 16:07Speaker 2: like built by Fay.
- 16:09Speaker 1: That's what I thought. Yeah, yea yea yea ye yah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's got magic that's why it makes sense. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: it has to be magic that I will say doesn't
- 16:17Speaker 1: get confirmed, but it gets more solidified at the end.
- 16:23Speaker 1: That's what I thought, straight up. Ay.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And well she she also doesn't like it, you reckon.
- 16:27Speaker 2: She doesn't like it because it's not safe or because
- 16:29Speaker 2: something to do with Like she's definitely got something to
- 16:31Speaker 2: do with magic, Selena.
- 16:33Speaker 1: She talks about being like descendant of magic. But do
- 16:35Speaker 1: you reckon?
- 16:35Speaker 2: That's why she doesn't or you know, but why she
- 16:37Speaker 2: didn't like the glass house, she said, Well.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You know how you know how she just talks about
- 16:41Speaker 1: how she's just like, why would you go in something
- 16:42Speaker 1: that could break? Yeah, it just always stays as that
- 16:45Speaker 1: she's like, I just hate being in something that can break. Yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 1: but she doesn't understand the magic. She Yeah, she just
- 16:49Speaker 1: like she just like she doesn't send the magic in
- 16:51Speaker 1: there or anything like that. She just like hates the
- 16:53Speaker 1: fact that glass can break. And I was like, that's
- 16:55Speaker 1: actually valid. Yeah. AnyWho, Okay, first test or what are
- 16:59Speaker 1: we My first test is like an archery test. I
- 17:01Speaker 1: told you the tests are like kind of boring.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Bro.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, she goes archery, she passes. Cool. They do
- 17:07Speaker 1: some running into training and then Brulo say it is
- 17:10Speaker 1: Brulo is like, if you come last year getting you're
- 17:12Speaker 1: going home. Like the only way they thought they could
- 17:14Speaker 1: go home is by not is by coming last in
- 17:17Speaker 1: a test, but they also get sent home for other reasons. Yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 1: someone in one of the tests, I think it's the
- 17:23Speaker 1: archery test, one of the guys that's gonna be one
- 17:26Speaker 1: of the champions, he tries to dip and like four
- 17:31Speaker 1: steps in he just gets arrows like through the neck,
- 17:34Speaker 1: through the back and shit. And so now everyone's like, well, fuck,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to try and run like that's crazy.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And then Selena, she at one point is going she's
- 17:47Speaker 1: kind of like, in my opinion, starts to just like
- 17:50Speaker 1: enjoy living in the stone part of the castle and
- 17:54Speaker 1: so like she's enjoying the training, she enjoys when Kale's there.
- 17:57Speaker 1: She likes it when Dorian comes to see her, like
- 18:00Speaker 1: calein Dorian like. The thing I find the craziest is
- 18:03Speaker 1: that Cale will straight up just like come look at
- 18:06Speaker 1: her in the middle of the night or in the morning,
- 18:09Speaker 1: just like without knocking, just walks in and just wakes
- 18:11Speaker 1: her up, and it's like, get up. Yeah, it's a
- 18:13Speaker 1: bit weird. Ah, yeah, it's giving stalker s vibes.
- 18:17Speaker 2: But then also like protection. But then also because there's
- 18:20Speaker 2: I guess there's a little bit of a debate I'm
- 18:22Speaker 2: finding at the moment. Are they protecting Selena or is
- 18:27Speaker 2: like from escaping or from her killing people?
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think they don't want her to
- 18:33Speaker 1: kill anyone, like they do think she's a beast and
- 18:35Speaker 1: she is, yeah, which she is. And Dorian he just
- 18:38Speaker 1: like pops in as well as Susan. He pops in
- 18:42Speaker 1: for just like I wanted to see her. He's he's
- 18:44Speaker 1: fucking falling in love with Well, she's beautiful, what what
- 18:47Speaker 1: do you say? But I think that was pretty much
- 18:48Speaker 1: all the chapters. Wasn't it pretty much? Did we meet
- 18:50Speaker 1: like Princess Nahemia, Yeah, we meet her and then they
- 18:53Speaker 1: or she speaks Elwyn. She's from Elwhere what's the and
- 18:57Speaker 1: then she and Selanna can speak the language and no
- 19:00Speaker 1: one else can really. Yeah, so like Princess Ilway's here
- 19:03Speaker 1: because her father her kingdom has just krobad of been
- 19:06Speaker 1: overtaken by Adeline, and her father sends her to the
- 19:12Speaker 1: castle to learn quote unquote learn the ways of the
- 19:15Speaker 1: ad Alines. But no one else speaks Illware, but Selena
- 19:18Speaker 1: speaks fluent Illway, so they become friendly. She quite likes
- 19:22Speaker 1: the princess. And then we also learn that Selena used
- 19:27Speaker 1: to have a lover named Sam.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yes, oh yeah we did, and she's been broken harder too.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Fuck everyone's fine a young love in this booky because basically.
- 19:35Speaker 1: The reason Selena got caught back in the day, like
- 19:38Speaker 1: a year and a bit ago and she was there
- 19:40Speaker 1: for a year, was like someone had to rat her
- 19:42Speaker 1: out and it wouldn't have been Sam. But when she
- 19:45Speaker 1: got ratted out, Sam got caught in the fold and
- 19:47Speaker 1: he got killed. Yeah, poor Slena. And she thinks that
- 19:51Speaker 1: another another assassin ratted her out. Oh there's a.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Bit of a bread crumbing as well, or and yeah
- 19:58Speaker 2: it ended on was it? It was Dorian was having a
- 20:03Speaker 2: bit of a playfight with the princess.
- 20:06Speaker 1: That's where the chapter ended. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Selaine
- 20:09Speaker 1: is training with the princess and Dan comes in. It's
- 20:10Speaker 1: like hey, and Slena goes, hey, you have a crack
- 20:13Speaker 1: and he's like no, no, no, no, no no. And then
- 20:14Speaker 1: the princess is like, how dare you I'm asking you
- 20:17Speaker 1: to spa me and he's like okay, and then Kale
- 20:19Speaker 1: comes in. He's like, you fucking dickhead, what are you
- 20:21Speaker 1: doing man? But that's yeah, that's about that's that's yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It might have been something for.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Lots of feelings predictions to one of the fictional man,
- 20:36Speaker 2: like we always do.
- 20:40Speaker 1: You can have bet and streaming again.
- 20:42Speaker 2: This is the Relatables book Club. Let the throw and
- 20:46Speaker 2: the docks begin.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Okay, thoughts and feelings are how are you feeling at
- 20:50Speaker 1: this point?
- 20:50Speaker 2: Although like arguably nothing has happened, I'm actually like really
- 20:55Speaker 2: really enjoying it.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It's I felt the same. I was kind of like,
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'm enjoy in this book, but it's also kind of boring.
- 21:03Speaker 1: So I don't know if I was enjoying it just
- 21:04Speaker 1: because everyone says it's super super good and I'm like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I'm just gonna fucking cop it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but they've said that about other things too, and
- 21:10Speaker 2: they've been terrible, whereas this is like I can feel
- 21:14Speaker 2: that like I'm reading for a purpose, Like what was
- 21:19Speaker 2: Frosten Starlight A Gatar is kind of similar, but that
- 21:24Speaker 2: one was boring, whereas this, for some reason, I'm really
- 21:28Speaker 2: really engaged.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah that's good, and.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I don't know why, but thoughts and feelings, Yeah, I'm
- 21:32Speaker 2: going to say, like a solid.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Ten a. Yeah, dang, I look forward to it. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: then also I put something.
- 21:40Speaker 2: In the Baddies Club on Instagram a couple of days ago,
- 21:45Speaker 2: just saying like little teaser about throwing a glass and
- 21:49Speaker 2: that many people were saying like it just gets better
- 21:50Speaker 2: book on book on book on book, and like you said,
- 21:52Speaker 2: I think just because we're reading for a purpose, like
- 21:54Speaker 2: I think I'm preampting that it's gonna be good.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I think that it's gonna get pretty sick. Also,
- 22:01Speaker 1: I have to say something because I and it's a
- 22:04Speaker 1: decision that I've made and I'm my decision won't.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Be swayed, won't be or will be won't be This
- 22:11Speaker 2: is unlike you bullshit.
- 22:13Speaker 1: So I was voice messaging with a bartie. She was
- 22:18Speaker 1: I think it was either on Relaated's Instagram or my Instagram,
- 22:20Speaker 1: but AnyWho, it was like that when I first started
- 22:23Speaker 1: reading Throne of Glass, right, yeah, and they would give
- 22:25Speaker 1: me pointers of when to read Assassin's Blade, and so
- 22:29Speaker 1: I said, thank you, thank you, And then she goes,
- 22:31Speaker 1: also book So I think there's eight books. She said,
- 22:35Speaker 1: book six and seven is the two books that can
- 22:37Speaker 1: be tandem read. And she said that she didn't tandem
- 22:42Speaker 1: read them, right, and she regrets it because book six
- 22:48Speaker 1: is phenomenal, apparently, right like foot Book six follows these
- 22:54Speaker 1: characters that like you're so so engaged with and it's
- 22:58Speaker 1: just like the best story. And then book seven is
- 23:02Speaker 1: happening at the exact same time but in a different
- 23:05Speaker 1: part of the world as book six, but it's a
- 23:09Speaker 1: bit boring, Like the characters are all right, they're not
- 23:11Speaker 1: your favorite like the stories, it's not as good. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: book six ends on like the biggest fucking cliffhanger. So
- 23:20Speaker 1: the way you read it, So basically what I'm trying
- 23:22Speaker 1: to say, is un tandem reading that shit? Okay? Because
- 23:26Speaker 1: what apparently it's like you get through it a lot
- 23:28Speaker 1: better and you enjoy it a lot more because you
- 23:31Speaker 1: read it and then like the boring bits get made
- 23:33Speaker 1: up by get made up in so the boring book
- 23:36Speaker 1: seven gets made up for by the sickness of book six.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Book six ends on a cliffhanger and only gets answered
- 23:41Speaker 1: at the start of the very last book. So if
- 23:43Speaker 1: you read book six first, you have to go through
- 23:45Speaker 1: all of books seven and be like, oh, this is
- 23:46Speaker 1: a grind, and then get to books eight. I get, yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I get yeah, yeah, Okay, no, it's got it. I'm
- 23:53Speaker 1: happy to do that. Okay, fucking eath could have phrased it, audito,
- 23:57Speaker 1: do you want to tan and read? Because I remember
- 24:00Speaker 1: you and I had a conversation once where once where
- 24:03Speaker 1: we were like, fuck, tandem reading not happening, Like that
- 24:07Speaker 1: sounds so confusing, But then this batty convinced.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Me, Oh yeah, that makes sense to me, especially like
- 24:10Speaker 2: if you tell me one book's boring and if together
- 24:12Speaker 2: they're the best thing ever, then I'm down.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah that's true, because iron Flame grind and half. Oh yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: fuck I gave up already, so finish on.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I kind of like this dynamic a little bit to
- 24:24Speaker 2: the predictions on my side because I say something and
- 24:28Speaker 2: you can't give anything away.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Well, oh yeah, mate, I'll read the second book right
- 24:31Speaker 1: now because I'm waiting, I shouldn't send anything. Yeah mate,
- 24:37Speaker 1: I'm fucking grinding to be fair on my side, all right,
- 24:40Speaker 1: So predictions, predictions, predictions. So a Selena is going to
- 24:45Speaker 1: fall in love with Kale, but then they got to
- 24:46Speaker 1: hide it from everyone because Dorian is his Cal's best friend,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and then the king can't find out. Blah blah blah
- 24:51Speaker 1: blah blah.
- 24:52Speaker 2: And Selena's actually a big softy reckon. She's like she
- 24:55Speaker 2: only kills because she has to know because.
- 24:57Speaker 1: She wants to.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Okay, And then, so can you tell me or is
- 25:03Speaker 2: it not a bad thing? Is it a bad thing
- 25:06Speaker 2: to say? If I ask if magic and Faye plays
- 25:08Speaker 2: a big part in the book, is that it all
- 25:11Speaker 2: depends would it.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Be a giveaway? I don't think it's a giveaway. If so,
- 25:19Speaker 1: it's like a giveaway but not a big giveaway. If
- 25:20Speaker 1: I say, it's a eh, what I'm saying? So I
- 25:26Speaker 1: think that so they think magic is extinct? What's illegal?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Do they think it's extinct? So I don't think people
- 25:33Speaker 1: think it's fully gone, but they it's like been very
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's been illegal for like I think a good fifteen
- 25:43Speaker 1: nearly twenty years. Okay, oh yeah, well I reckon Selena
- 25:47Speaker 1: will be like the beacon of hope for bringing back
- 25:51Speaker 1: magic ooh, and like she discovers it somehow, And then that's.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Also why she's a weapon. She's gone like a reason
- 26:01Speaker 2: for like not taking anything away from it. But why
- 26:04Speaker 2: she's so like dialed in as well, other than just training,
- 26:08Speaker 2: why she's such a good.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Assassin, Like, yeah, it comes naturally to her.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Because he said, yeah, she seems like such a normal girl.
- 26:14Speaker 2: But then she also is a mass murderer, and I
- 26:16Speaker 2: feel like that's got something to do with being fake.
- 26:20Speaker 1: She's not a murderer. She used to do it for work, mate.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah I suppose. I suppose that's the justification.
- 26:25Speaker 2: But that's my predictions. And or is there anything I
- 26:30Speaker 2: think all the challenges are going to be like pretty boring?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Is there any cool ones?
- 26:35Speaker 3: Oh?
- 26:37Speaker 1: Let me think honestly, like not really, like I hate
- 26:41Speaker 1: to hate to break it to you, that's all.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And I reckon, I was gonna say Caine's got to
- 26:47Speaker 2: die that I don't think it's going to be against
- 26:50Speaker 2: like Cain and her in the finals for sure, because
- 26:52Speaker 2: isn't it that the last two battle to the death
- 26:55Speaker 2: and the winner, so the.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Final four for a battle, so like it's got to
- 27:00Speaker 1: Cane v.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Selena and then like something to do with like Kale
- 27:04Speaker 2: will be like Selena's about to die and Kale will
- 27:06Speaker 2: like come in and help or something, and then she'll
- 27:07Speaker 2: take over. Well no, but also but also Sarah Jay's
- 27:11Speaker 2: writing writing style is never which I like, never rely
- 27:18Speaker 2: rely on a man.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Oh wait, good point.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Whereas which we found out in Akatar, like women are
- 27:27Speaker 2: powerful in the Gift to the world, and she writes
- 27:30Speaker 2: that in such a powerful way. I think, So I
- 27:33Speaker 2: take that back. It's all gonna be Selena something to.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Do with her and she'll say, Kale, there we go, Okay, okay, okay.
- 27:43Speaker 1: One thing I wanted to say before we leave is
- 27:45Speaker 1: so I reckon, like there's a good chance that will
- 27:49Speaker 1: be nearly done Throne of Glass when Akatar six comes out. Yeah, right,
- 27:54Speaker 1: so you know how everyone's saying, like you need to
- 27:56Speaker 1: read all of Sarah j. Mastic just just to understand
- 28:00Speaker 1: Akatar six and seven. Like I don't fully believe that,
- 28:04Speaker 1: Like I don't think we have to read Crescent City
- 28:06Speaker 1: and stuff like that. But I am gonna read Crescent
- 28:08Speaker 1: City because I assume you probably won't read it at all.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Question should I read when it because I'll read Crescent
- 28:15Speaker 1: City in my own time. Yeah, if I don't want to,
- 28:18Speaker 1: like say, I'm gonna do this, but with the baddies
- 28:21Speaker 1: like it. If I sit down, just like on my
- 28:25Speaker 1: own and talk about Crescent City books, you know, I
- 28:28Speaker 1: could read twenty chapters one afternoon, or I could read five,
- 28:31Speaker 1: and I like just like kind of record when I
- 28:33Speaker 1: feel it recording and say what I'm up to and
- 28:34Speaker 1: just post him only on Patreon. I was going to say,
- 28:37Speaker 1: a way to get you to do a great idea
- 28:39Speaker 1: is if you make money from it, and.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Inherently I make money from it. So yeah, really an idea.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So I think I might do that with Crescent City.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I'm nearly done Dagonmouth. Dagamouth's been a grind, but it's
- 28:52Speaker 1: a good book. Yeah, okay, yeah, no.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I reckon that's a great idea and then just do
- 28:55Speaker 2: it in like the essence of when you feel like
- 28:57Speaker 2: you need to talk about it. M Patreon, there's a
- 29:01Speaker 2: great Patreon exclusive. So next week guys, chapters twenty through
- 29:05Speaker 2: to thirty. But to reiterate Patreon, they're all there, ready
- 29:09Speaker 2: to go.

- 29:10Speaker 2: And another reason to go on Patreon is to see
- 29:12Speaker 2: Jake talk for It could be ten minutes, twenty minutes,

- 29:23Speaker 1: and we'll post it. Why not?
- 29:29Speaker 2: All right?
