- 0:01However, much we try. We find that we cannot
- 0:05constantly and consistently hold on to any particular focus of
- 0:10concentration, emotional state mood or feeling for an extended
- 0:16period of time. The constant action of the three
- 0:20gonna Cycles us through periods of light and darkness action,
- 0:24and inaction, excitement and despondency, joy and sorrow.
- 0:30Pleasure and Pain, the dualities we recognize as inextricably.
- 0:36Linked together in our lives, are the result of the changing
- 0:40action of the gunas. The same Dynamic is operative
- 0:45for the spiritual Seeker. This leads to periods of great
- 0:49Insight joy and aspiration followed by periods of dullness
- 0:54lack of inspiration. And dryness, it is important for
- 0:58a spiritual secretive realized that this is the nature of our
- 1:02Earthly existence and that these alternations are natural and
- 1:07must be endured without giving up patience and persistence.
- 1:13Are the watchwords of spiritual attainment in the end.
- 1:18It is difficult for the vital nature to appreciate this when
- 1:22suddenly experiences on the various occult planes occur and
- 1:26lift up the vital enthusiasm and then just as suddenly disappear
- 1:32and seemed not to reoccur during active periods.
- 1:36There may be ecstatic upwellings of love and dedication or deep
- 1:40experiences of meditation. or various occult experiences such
- 1:46as out-of-body experiences, astral travel or experiences of
- 1:51various powers on the occult planes, the vital being latches
- 1:56onto these things and feels important uplifted and joyful,
- 2:01When they are removed from the active experience, the vital
- 2:05being can become discouraged, sulk or Revolt at having to
- 2:10carry out the mundane tasks assigned to the individual where
- 2:15which are simply part of daily life.
- 2:18These reactions of the ego personality attached to the
- 2:21vital being, and it's desires can cause substantial
- 2:26disruption. If the Seeker is not properly
- 2:28prepared and has not affected. The separation of the witness
- 2:33Consciousness from the active outer nature, SRI aurobindo
- 2:38writes, quote, the up and down movement, which you speak of is
- 2:42common to all ways of yoga. It is there in the path of
- 2:46bhakti but they're equally alternations of states of light
- 2:51and states of Darkness. Sometimes sheer and prolong
- 2:54darkness, when one, follows The Path of Knowledge, those who
- 2:59have a cult experiences come too.
- 3:01Periods when all experiences cease and even seem finished
- 3:05forever. Even when there have been many
- 3:08and permanent realizations, these seem to go behind the veil
- 3:14and leave nothing in front except the dull blank filled.
- 3:18If at all, only with recurrent attacks and difficulties.
- 3:23These alternations are the result of the nature of human
- 3:26consciousness and are not approve of unfitness or of
- 3:31predestination. Austin failure.
- 3:33One has to be prepared for them and pass through.
- 3:36They are the day and night of The Vedic Mystics.
- 3:41Everyone has these alternations, because the total Consciousness
- 3:45is not able to remain always in the above experience.
- 3:49The point is that in the intervals, there should be
- 3:52quietude at least in the inner being no, restlessness
- 3:57dissatisfaction or struggle. If that point is attained, then
- 4:02the sodden I can go on smoothly, not that there will be no
- 4:07difficulties but there will be Disquietude or dissatisfaction,
- 4:12etc. Etc.
- 4:16And quote reference SRI aurobindo in the mother growing
- 4:21within the psychology of inner development.
- 4:24Chapter 6 growth of Consciousness difficulties and
- 4:28pitfalls page 120.
