- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpis. Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off
- 0:07Speaker 1: into the right flasf to Michael Bumpers, who bounce us
- 0:09Speaker 1: off a one tackler catch him side the forty down
- 0:12Speaker 1: of the thirty five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Matt pumpfake's looking at the go line, he throws it
- 0:17Speaker 1: into the end zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas
- 0:21Speaker 1: with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 2: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 2: out of Washington State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 1: On this team. Now here's your host, Nasa Chobee.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, it has been interesting for an interesting time here
- 0:39Speaker 3: at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center over the last couple
- 0:42Speaker 3: of weeks. Last time me and Bump had a chance
- 0:44Speaker 3: to speak with all y'all, the Seahawks were hoping to
- 0:46Speaker 3: get into the playoffs, hoping to get some help from
- 0:48Speaker 3: the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The Bears
- 0:52Speaker 3: did not be the Packers. The Seahawks beat the Cardinals.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I wasn't enough. The Seahawks did miss the playoffs at
- 0:57Speaker 3: nine and eight, and unfortunately, since then, the Yaks announced
- 1:00Speaker 3: head coach Pete Carroll will be moving on from head
- 1:03Speaker 3: coach to an advisory role with the club. And uh yeah,
- 1:08Speaker 3: just the gravity of that moment and Pete not being
- 1:10Speaker 3: here anymore. If someone's worked here for eight years and
- 1:12Speaker 3: been to see offa my whole life and just been
- 1:14Speaker 3: being around Pete, it was pretty shocking.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Bump it was.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I was pretty floored thinking about it. It hit me
- 1:20Speaker 3: pretty hard. And you were on the air when this happened.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So take me through you hearing the news for the
- 1:24Speaker 3: first time.
- 1:26Speaker 5: We got to break it.
- 1:27Speaker 6: I'm actually I was in the middle of a segment
- 1:30Speaker 6: and our producer gets into staceyy Ross's ear and I
- 1:34Speaker 6: see her face and I go, oh, there's some breaking news.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Is that time of the year. Let's see what goes them?
- 1:39Speaker 5: And she goes. Pete Carroll is out.
- 1:42Speaker 6: As the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, and one
- 1:45Speaker 6: of our other producers, my left coach, took a screenshot
- 1:48Speaker 6: of my face during that time. You thought I saw
- 1:50Speaker 6: a go so i'body this has to be a joke.
- 1:51Speaker 6: This is not real. My whole football existence. Pete Carroll
- 1:56Speaker 6: has either been a assistant coach or a head coach somewhere,
- 2:01Speaker 6: whether it be a college or the NFL. So on now,
- 2:03Speaker 6: I was shocking, man. I did not expect it, and
- 2:06Speaker 6: there was a lot I had to digest and react
- 2:08Speaker 6: to immediately. And that was the toughest part because he
- 2:12Speaker 6: deserves time for that news to marinate and for people
- 2:16Speaker 6: to articulate exactly what they're feeling in that moment. So yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 6: it was rough. Man wasn't expecting it. But man, appreciate
- 2:22Speaker 6: Pete for everything is done.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I'm happy he was you and not me, because I
- 2:25Speaker 3: don't think I would have been able to say anything
- 2:26Speaker 3: on the mic because I would have just been that floored.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And it was just again, when you're someone who's been
- 2:30Speaker 3: around as long.
- 2:31Speaker 4: As Pete has.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Let's just give you some stats for all the people
- 2:34Speaker 3: to know how successful Pete was during his time in Seattle.
- 2:37Speaker 3: During his fourteen year run as head coach, he was
- 2:40Speaker 3: one forty seven ninety eight and one five division titles,
- 2:44Speaker 3: two Super Bowl appearances super Bowl forty eight champion is
- 2:47Speaker 3: all you know, went to the playoffs ten out of
- 2:50Speaker 3: fourteen seasons and had winning seasons in eleven of those fourteens,
- 2:55Speaker 3: and then he want to go overall one hundred and
- 2:56Speaker 3: eighty one and one thirty one, typer thirteenth in NFL,
- 2:59Speaker 3: his three with one hundred and eighty one combined wins,
- 3:01Speaker 3: thirty nine head coach in NFL history with one hundred
- 3:04Speaker 3: regular season wins, twenty second head coach to reach one
- 3:06Speaker 3: hundred and fifty regular season wins, and fifteenth head coach
- 3:10Speaker 3: to reach one seventy five. So that's an elite company, obviously.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And one of the things I think about, too, Bump,
- 3:17Speaker 3: is during that time, those fourteen years, every other team
- 3:21Speaker 3: in the NFC West has been good, really bad, good
- 3:26Speaker 3: and really bad again.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I'm talking winning six or less games.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Every team in the division has had that up and down,
- 3:33Speaker 3: up and down, up and down in that same time.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And while the worst season Pete Carroll had was seven
- 3:38Speaker 3: and nine and then I guess technically went he went
- 3:41Speaker 3: to seventeen games, seven and ten and twenty one, but
- 3:43Speaker 3: that was a year Russell Wilson broke his thumb. So
- 3:46Speaker 3: it's like, when you think about the success this man had,
- 3:48Speaker 3: it it leads you to just there's a lot of emotions,
- 3:52Speaker 3: especially for Seahawk fans because he puts Seattle on the map.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And while we're talking about those emotions during his final
- 3:58Speaker 3: press conference, because he was able to address the media
- 4:01Speaker 3: after the decision for him to move into an advisory role,
- 4:04Speaker 3: which is really goes to show you the respect that
- 4:07Speaker 3: everyone has for Coach Carroll, that he got to have
- 4:09Speaker 3: the final words. And let me tell you, Bump, I
- 4:11Speaker 3: was in the room. Man, there was not a dry
- 4:13Speaker 3: eye in the house. You started talking about his wife,
- 4:16Speaker 3: his kids, Glenna, what everyone meant to him.
- 4:19Speaker 4: But one of the things that I really.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Stuck away with what he talked about was when he
- 4:22Speaker 3: talked about culture that he created here in this building.
- 4:25Speaker 4: But what I am.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Most proud of is that we took a culture that
- 4:28Speaker 2: we developed there in those college days and came here
- 4:32Speaker 2: to see if you cared for people deeply and you
- 4:36Speaker 2: loved them for who they were and tried to find
- 4:40Speaker 2: the extraordinary uniqueness that made them them and celebrate that
- 4:45Speaker 2: and not try to make them something that they're not,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and not to try to expect them to be something
- 4:50Speaker 2: other than that, but try to see if we can
- 4:52Speaker 2: capture that extraordinary uniqueness that they had and celebrate that
- 4:57Speaker 2: with them, let's see what happens. Well, see, we killed
- 5:00Speaker 2: it and we came up here and overall we've been
- 5:03Speaker 2: successful for a long time. I didn't think any way
- 5:06Speaker 2: that this would happen like this.
- 5:08Speaker 5: I didn't have that vision.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But I'm grateful for it because what we have here,
- 5:11Speaker 2: we have an extraordinary culture, and I'm really proud of that.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Culture gets thrown around like crazy everywhere in the business world,
- 5:20Speaker 3: sports teams, this, and that. I've had the opportunity to
- 5:22Speaker 3: work in a bunch of different places. Culture is real,
- 5:25Speaker 3: and it's real when you're the leader of your program.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Believes it in every fiver of his being, and it's
- 5:31Speaker 3: something on you know, it's hard to even equate what
- 5:34Speaker 3: it is. He has his rule, just always think about,
- 5:36Speaker 3: always compete, tell the truth, Monday, be in, all in,
- 5:40Speaker 3: be early, all those things that are strictly Pete. And
- 5:43Speaker 3: it's just like, the culture is real, and I really
- 5:46Speaker 3: I have faith that they're going to keep the culture
- 5:47Speaker 3: in the building once he moves on.
- 5:49Speaker 4: But yeah, it's just hard when you think of Pete.
- 5:51Speaker 4: What sticks out.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I mean, you have the unique opportunity to be one
- 5:54Speaker 3: of some smallest of people that were actually recruited by
- 5:57Speaker 3: Coach Carroll when you were in high school.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Yeah, back in two thousand and three, I've verbally committed
- 6:04Speaker 6: to University Southern California because of Pete Carroll. Pete all
- 6:10Speaker 6: the things he says at seventy two years old, he
- 6:13Speaker 6: was preaching twenty years ago, recruiting a kid out of
- 6:16Speaker 6: Culver City High School. Man, and he talks about culture
- 6:20Speaker 6: and culture is something that like you have your your
- 6:23Speaker 6: stables or your culture. This is how we practice, this
- 6:26Speaker 6: is how we show up, This is how we address
- 6:29Speaker 6: as the media, this is.
- 6:30Speaker 5: How we respect our co workers.
- 6:32Speaker 6: But Pete's culture you could feel as soon as you
- 6:35Speaker 6: stepped into vMac, whether you're going through the front entrance
- 6:38Speaker 6: like as media people do, or you go through the
- 6:40Speaker 6: back door like the coaches and the players and everyone
- 6:43Speaker 6: else involved.
- 6:43Speaker 5: You feel it as soon as you walk in BMAC.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Man, from the reception of saying hello to the security
- 6:48Speaker 6: guards recognize you and saying hello up and down man.
- 6:53Speaker 5: So when I think.
- 6:54Speaker 6: About Pete, I think about a person who recognizes people
- 6:57Speaker 6: for who they are, one of the heart artist workers
- 7:00Speaker 6: I've been around, and a person that approaches every day
- 7:05Speaker 6: the same way win lose a draw. We sit in
- 7:07Speaker 6: this media room that's next to the team meeting room,
- 7:11Speaker 6: and no matter what they could have lost, just I
- 7:13Speaker 6: could have got blown out by the Baltimore Ravens show.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Up on a Thursday.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Of the days that I showed up, there's still the
- 7:21Speaker 6: same energy, the same focus, and the same grime.
- 7:24Speaker 5: So yeah, man, he's been huge.
- 7:25Speaker 6: I'm telling you, Like, I just start playing football till
- 7:27Speaker 6: high school, so all I knew was Pete Carroll and USC.
- 7:30Speaker 5: And Reggie bush Line at all those guys.
- 7:33Speaker 6: So to have that experience with him in California, then
- 7:35Speaker 6: come up here to the Northwest work for the Seahawks
- 7:37Speaker 6: and and just see him these these last twenty three years,
- 7:41Speaker 6: it's been great, man. And he's been the same guy.
- 7:44Speaker 6: I mean he's been He's been true to himself and
- 7:47Speaker 6: what he believes in.
- 7:48Speaker 3: You know, I think the number one question I get asked,
- 7:50Speaker 3: or I've been asked over the years since I've worked here, is.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Is Pete really like that? There's Pete really that energetic?
- 7:56Speaker 4: Is that all? Yes? Yes, he's like that.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Man.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I'm thirty two years old. I have bad days. I'm
- 8:03Speaker 3: tired some days, some days I'm not feeling it. Some
- 8:06Speaker 3: days it might show. I try not to show the
- 8:07Speaker 3: body language whatnot. You would never know if Pete had
- 8:10Speaker 3: a bad day, because I don't think he's ever had one.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I mean the way he carries himself, the energy, running
- 8:14Speaker 3: sprints at practice, all the stuff that people see. And
- 8:17Speaker 3: I got to experience this stuff people didn't get to
- 8:19Speaker 3: see because he was always that person all the time.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I was a nobody when I took over this job,
- 8:24Speaker 3: essentially in terms of my professional experience, and over the
- 8:27Speaker 3: last eight years, just having a chance to see how
- 8:30Speaker 3: he moved, how he operated, how he treated people, how
- 8:33Speaker 3: he treated me, specifically setting up interviews, doing all the
- 8:35Speaker 3: things that he didn't have to do, taking time asking
- 8:38Speaker 3: about my day, knowing my name, all these things, and
- 8:41Speaker 3: you just don't ever take it for granted. So it's
- 8:43Speaker 3: a really sad bittersweet for me because he did so
- 8:46Speaker 3: much for me personally, everyone in this building.
- 8:48Speaker 4: All the players you talk.
- 8:49Speaker 3: You think of a guy like Gino smith Man to
- 8:51Speaker 3: have the belief from a guy like Pete Carroll that
- 8:54Speaker 3: restarted his career, you know what I mean. Like, there's
- 8:56Speaker 3: so there's probably a gazillion people. I go down the list.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Richard Sherman kJ Wright, all the Doug you know, Doug
- 9:03Speaker 3: Bald and all the people that he helped find. Obviously,
- 9:05Speaker 3: John Schneider has been a part of that the entire way,
- 9:07Speaker 3: so we'll get.
- 9:08Speaker 4: To him, but I just it was a bittersweet day.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I just we just wanted to make sure that we
- 9:14Speaker 3: gave Pete his flowers because he meant a lot to
- 9:17Speaker 3: this region. When you think of Seahawks football, Pete Carroll
- 9:20Speaker 3: is one of the people you think of.
- 9:21Speaker 4: So just wanted to give our flowers.
- 9:23Speaker 3: A coach, we appreciate everything you've done for this team's organization,
- 9:27Speaker 3: the city, this region. You'll be remembered forever pretty soon
- 9:30Speaker 3: here whatever happens, we know you'll be putting up in
- 9:31Speaker 3: the Ring of Honor and all that. And then I'll
- 9:33Speaker 3: menually obviously Cooperstown or Hall of Fame, not Cooperstown, but Canton,
- 9:36Speaker 3: Ohio for that.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Got my sports costs a.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Little bit, and then let's just jump over a little
- 9:41Speaker 3: bit because more news come out. John Schneider addressed the
- 9:44Speaker 3: media essentially, you know, a couple of days ago for
- 9:47Speaker 3: the first time kind of solo as he kind of
- 9:49Speaker 3: moves into a different role. He's still obviously the general manager,
- 9:52Speaker 3: but now the football staff and everything's kind of fallen
- 9:54Speaker 3: under his leadership. But he spoke this week about how
- 9:57Speaker 3: blessed it was to have the relationship he had with
- 10:00Speaker 3: Pete Carroll.
- 10:01Speaker 7: Again, just very very blessed to have worked with Pete
- 10:04Speaker 7: and all the positive lessons and the leadership, the leadership
- 10:10Speaker 7: lessons and thoughts and philosophies. And I can't even begin
- 10:14Speaker 7: to explain to you, you know, pretty emotional press conference
- 10:17Speaker 7: the other day, and when I say your emotions are
- 10:19Speaker 7: all over the place, you know, it's it's moving on
- 10:22Speaker 7: from a very very historic partnership and amazing, amazing level
- 10:29Speaker 7: of success and achievement that Pete and myself are extremely
- 10:34Speaker 7: proud of. I look forward to being able to call
- 10:36Speaker 7: it Pete and text him. He's really he's texting me
- 10:39Speaker 7: that crazy all the time, like Hey, Johnny, what's what
- 10:41Speaker 7: you know is going on with this and that? And
- 10:44Speaker 7: so it's a yeah, it's been a great it's been
- 10:49Speaker 7: a great experience.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You can hear him at the end kind of getting
- 10:53Speaker 3: emotional because they had a relationship that is so unique.
- 10:56Speaker 3: But fourteen fifteen years really calendar years of them being together,
- 11:00Speaker 3: making every single decision.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Together, all the ups, all the downs.
- 11:04Speaker 3: He mentioned it at some point in pres conference talking
- 11:06Speaker 3: about a podcast that they could have, and boy, we
- 11:09Speaker 3: would all subscribe. I would pay money to hear some
- 11:12Speaker 3: of those stories. So it's just, I mean, it's it's
- 11:15Speaker 3: unheard of, bump. I don't know, you know, I'm obviously
- 11:17Speaker 3: hoping that there's the next version of Pete Carroll in
- 11:20Speaker 3: terms of his relationship with John Schneider, but just thinking
- 11:23Speaker 3: back through the years, man, it's a it's got to
- 11:25Speaker 3: be a historic, you know, relationship all time because you
- 11:28Speaker 3: don't see that longevity in the league anymore.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Now, fourteen years in the league in one place with
- 11:35Speaker 6: that that partnership, that has been awesome, man. And I'm
- 11:40Speaker 6: like you said, it's bittersweet because Pete's gone to you.
- 11:43Speaker 6: This day was gonna come eventually him not being the
- 11:45Speaker 6: head coach anymore.
- 11:46Speaker 5: But now I'm excited for John. John, you know, this
- 11:49Speaker 5: is this is you.
- 11:50Speaker 6: You can take all those lessons, all those moments you
- 11:52Speaker 6: had with Pete and you get to make this yours.
- 11:55Speaker 5: We all know.
- 11:55Speaker 6: Jody's going to be involved as well, but I'm sure
- 11:58Speaker 6: there their friendship will is forever. It's a lifetime and
- 12:01Speaker 6: type thing. Just that that working relationship is now over.
- 12:06Speaker 6: So let's let's see what John can do.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Man.
- 12:08Speaker 5: I'm excited. I'm happy for Pete.
- 12:09Speaker 6: Man, he gets to be a grandfather and chill for
- 12:11Speaker 6: a little bit and then decide whether he wants to.
- 12:13Speaker 5: Do ball or not.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, John has obviously been a big
- 12:17Speaker 3: part of everything. Those two were so synonymous together in
- 12:20Speaker 3: building this this franchise and what it is to this day.
- 12:24Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm really excited to see what John can
- 12:25Speaker 3: do and what he's going to do when he looks,
- 12:27Speaker 3: you know, to hire a new head coach. The cool
- 12:29Speaker 3: thing that he talked about in his press conference as
- 12:31Speaker 3: well was culture and how that was going to be
- 12:34Speaker 3: something that he was you know, objective number one coming
- 12:37Speaker 3: from ownership.
- 12:38Speaker 7: That's it our culture. And then how are we evolving?
- 12:41Speaker 7: Who's going to help us move to the next level?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:43Speaker 7: How are we going to you know, compete with everybody
- 12:46Speaker 7: that we need to compete with and advance this this
- 12:49Speaker 7: organization moving forward. And that's a I think We're going
- 12:52Speaker 7: to learn so much of this process about the ideas
- 12:55Speaker 7: and you know, I'm proud of all the connections we
- 12:57Speaker 7: have around the National Football League, and we've learned a
- 12:59Speaker 7: lot already, and so to be able to understand what
- 13:03Speaker 7: that looks like. You know, different opinions, different philosophies open
- 13:08Speaker 7: the door, two different ideas. Whether it's a defensive head
- 13:11Speaker 7: coach or a offensive head coach or a special teams
- 13:14Speaker 7: is becoming a head coach. I think that's all just
- 13:17Speaker 7: really really important.
- 13:19Speaker 3: We're not necessarily going to speculate into who this person
- 13:22Speaker 3: is going to be because there's a million things and
- 13:24Speaker 3: there's a lot of interviews in John and his staff
- 13:26Speaker 3: is going.
- 13:26Speaker 4: To handle all that.
- 13:28Speaker 3: But when you knowing what you have in John Snyder
- 13:31Speaker 3: and the players you got on this team, what gives
- 13:33Speaker 3: you confidence that this team, whoever is in the leadership
- 13:37Speaker 3: position as head coach, can take that next step in
- 13:39Speaker 3: twenty twenty four and build off the core players that
- 13:41Speaker 3: they have on this roster today.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Man, Because you got some balls here.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 13:45Speaker 6: I know nine to eight fell short, and understand all
- 13:47Speaker 6: of that disappointing year, but you still got some news.
- 13:50Speaker 6: I look at the offense, I go, all right, you're
- 13:52Speaker 6: a couple of linemen away from really doing this thing.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I look at the defense, I go you're a linebacker,
- 13:57Speaker 6: a defensive lineman away, and some guys getting healthy from
- 14:01Speaker 6: really doing this thing. So no, I'm excited, man, I'm
- 14:06Speaker 6: again out. I'm always hesitant to use excited because I
- 14:10Speaker 6: never want to disrespect Pete. I prefer Pete was here,
- 14:14Speaker 6: you know, let's not get that twisted. But since this
- 14:17Speaker 6: is a new start, I'm just excited to see how
- 14:20Speaker 6: whoever comes in takes the foundational pieces and bills off
- 14:25Speaker 6: of that, because there are some ballers here that are
- 14:27Speaker 6: going to contribute and help whoever gets this head coaching job.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna be I'm excited that I'm gonna have
- 14:35Speaker 3: my popcorn ready whenever that is announced.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Obviously, there's rules.
- 14:38Speaker 3: About when you can interview people and when they can
- 14:41Speaker 3: if they're currently coaching.
- 14:42Speaker 4: He's got to be out to divisional playoffs.
- 14:43Speaker 3: There's all kinds of stuff going on in the football
- 14:44Speaker 3: side of things, which I won't speculate on because we're
- 14:47Speaker 3: just gonna be our popcorn ready like the rest of
- 14:49Speaker 3: you twelve's and figure out what's gonna happen with this search.
- 14:51Speaker 3: But I'm definitely excited, you know, looking forward to what
- 14:55Speaker 3: this organization is going to become with a new head
- 14:57Speaker 3: coach and where they're going to go next year. But
- 15:00Speaker 3: before we look ahead to next year and all that stuff,
- 15:02Speaker 3: there were a lot of guys that made play. So
- 15:04Speaker 3: we're gonna continue giving our flowers when we look at
- 15:06Speaker 3: the season long playmakers.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Touchdown playmakers, total.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Holy always start with quarterbacks and Gino had a great year.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Man.
- 15:23Speaker 3: He was three twenty three for fort ninety nine sixty
- 15:26Speaker 3: four percent completion percentage, three six hundred and twenty four yards,
- 15:29Speaker 3: twenty touchdowns, nine interceptions, sacked thirty one times, did have
- 15:34Speaker 3: thirty seven carries for one hundred and fifty five yards
- 15:36Speaker 3: in a touchdown, one hundred.
- 15:37Speaker 4: And four QB reading rating.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Led five game winning drives this season, which was the
- 15:42Speaker 3: most in the National Football League. So you know, saying
- 15:45Speaker 3: he can't win a game late wasn't clutch. That narrative
- 15:47Speaker 3: is completely dead. He's got fifteen career game winning drives
- 15:50Speaker 3: and only sixty six starts. He did all this missing
- 15:53Speaker 3: two games, and yeah, he didn't have the year that
- 15:55Speaker 3: he had statistically in twenty twenty two, but you know,
- 15:58Speaker 3: he missed a couple of games and he kind of
- 16:01Speaker 3: had a foot flops. He started really strong last year
- 16:04Speaker 3: and struggled a little bit down the stretch, and this
- 16:06Speaker 3: year he struggled a little bit early on but finished
- 16:08Speaker 3: really strong down the stretch.
- 16:09Speaker 4: So I like what we have in Gino. He's proven
- 16:12Speaker 4: that he can play.
- 16:12Speaker 3: He's proven that he can come up clutch when the
- 16:15Speaker 3: team needs him, and he's really probably a couple of
- 16:18Speaker 3: plays away from leading seven game winning drives, maybe even
- 16:21Speaker 3: eight for all the games the Seahawks could have won
- 16:23Speaker 3: this year.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So big up to Gino Smith.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I still think we have our quarterback right now, whether
- 16:27Speaker 3: the Seahawks draft one moving forward, but we have our
- 16:30Speaker 3: guy right now.
- 16:30Speaker 4: And I loved what I saw from Gino this year.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, Man.
- 16:35Speaker 6: It wasn't last year's performance, but it was a good
- 16:39Speaker 6: enough performance to keep your team competitive and in the
- 16:43Speaker 6: playoff hunting to the very last game, and that's all
- 16:45Speaker 6: you want.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Man, Big up to Gino. We got to Sean salne
- 16:48Speaker 5: on ken Walker.
- 16:48Speaker 6: Man, he missed some games where I missed two games,
- 16:51Speaker 6: but he rush for a nine hundred and five yards
- 16:52Speaker 6: eight touchdowns. He had twenty nine receptions for twenty fifty
- 16:55Speaker 6: nine yards in one touchdown. He was one short of
- 16:59Speaker 6: career high rushing touchdowns. I love Ken Walker and what
- 17:02Speaker 6: he brings to this team. If you look at all
- 17:04Speaker 6: the teams that are left in the playoffs as of now,
- 17:07Speaker 6: most of them have a really good running game, minus
- 17:10Speaker 6: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the weakest run game in NFL football. Well,
- 17:14Speaker 6: but sometimes you get lucky. But whoever comes in again,
- 17:17Speaker 6: you have a guy who can run the rock. You
- 17:20Speaker 6: got your quarterback, you got your running back, and then
- 17:22Speaker 6: you got a number one receiver to DK Metcalf sixty
- 17:25Speaker 6: six receptions, one and fourteen yards eight touchdowns on the season.
- 17:30Speaker 6: He's all over the Seahawk record, but he has the
- 17:33Speaker 6: most receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns in the first five
- 17:36Speaker 6: seasons in franchise history. He's fourth in the NFL receiving
- 17:40Speaker 6: touchdowns since twenty nineteen.
- 17:41Speaker 5: With forty three.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Dka also became the third player in NFL history to
- 17:45Speaker 6: reach fifty receptions, nine hundred yards and five touchdowns in
- 17:48Speaker 6: each of his first five seasons, and he's only missed
- 17:51Speaker 6: one game. The evolution of DK has been fun to
- 17:54Speaker 6: watch and he's always available, only miss one game. Man
- 17:57Speaker 6: stays healthy.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you're a new head, you're looking at
- 18:00Speaker 3: someone like that and you're like, yeah, I would like
- 18:02Speaker 3: some more of fourteen because he's a ball Another guy
- 18:06Speaker 3: in that receiver room that was also balling out the series,
- 18:08Speaker 3: Tyler Lockett seventy nine receptions eight hundred ninety four yards
- 18:11Speaker 3: five touchdowns on the season, became the second player in
- 18:14Speaker 3: franchise history and the ninety fourth player in NFL history
- 18:17Speaker 3: to have six hundred receptions. His forty nine touchdowns his
- 18:20Speaker 3: twenty eighteen are tied for six in the NFL. He
- 18:22Speaker 3: also moved into second place for all the Seahawks major
- 18:25Speaker 3: receiving records, So we're talking second receptions now with six
- 18:28Speaker 3: hundred and twelve, second receiving yards with seven nine hundred
- 18:31Speaker 3: and ninety four, and second in touchdowns with fifty nine,
- 18:34Speaker 3: all behind one of the greatest ever do with Steve Largin,
- 18:37Speaker 3: And unfortunately for Locke, it's gonna be pretty hard to
- 18:40Speaker 3: catch to catch Larger because he is way up there.
- 18:43Speaker 3: When Larger retired, he literally was the leader in every
- 18:46Speaker 3: category in the National Football League, and Tydler has been reliable,
- 18:50Speaker 3: only missed three games out of a possible one hundred
- 18:52Speaker 3: and forty four regular season games during his career. Unfortunately, Bummer,
- 18:57Speaker 3: his streak of a thousand yard seasons came to an
- 18:59Speaker 3: end at four years consecutively. But Lockett was bawing out.
- 19:03Speaker 3: You know, he's still a really important part of this offense.
- 19:06Speaker 3: And then the last of the receiver I'll talk about
- 19:08Speaker 3: Bump is jsn rookie sixty three receptions, six hundred and
- 19:12Speaker 3: twenty yards, four touchdowns, became only rookie, the only rookie
- 19:16Speaker 3: since nineteen sixty with two game winning touchdown receptions in
- 19:19Speaker 3: the final minute of the fourth quarter. Did this all
- 19:21Speaker 3: after he broke his risks in the first during the preseason,
- 19:24Speaker 3: never missed a game, Bump. I know if I told
- 19:26Speaker 3: you that you'd have that stat line in his first year,
- 19:28Speaker 3: you would say sign me in for that three times.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Because with those other.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Guys in the offense and him doing that, we solved
- 19:35Speaker 3: our third receiver issue that we've kind of nagged this
- 19:38Speaker 3: team for a long time. He's in and he's going
- 19:40Speaker 3: to be a lot more than that. Obviously we saw
- 19:41Speaker 3: the potential, but I'm really excited to see where this
- 19:44Speaker 3: receiving corps is.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Man, it's looking good, especially with the addition of js
- 19:51Speaker 6: and excited for that young man out of Ohio State,
- 19:54Speaker 6: the OG Bobby Wagner put together another great season, one
- 19:57Speaker 6: hundred and eighty three tackles, three and a half, seven
- 20:00Speaker 6: eleven TFLs and three passes defended. He's one hundred and
- 20:03Speaker 6: eighty three tackles are a career high and ties to
- 20:06Speaker 6: see how single season franchise record of one hundred and
- 20:08Speaker 6: eighty three said by who Jordan Brooks just last season
- 20:11Speaker 6: couldn't even let him have a season, you know, man,
- 20:13Speaker 6: a couple season of having that record. But Ragner is
- 20:17Speaker 6: also second and third on that list when it comes
- 20:20Speaker 6: to tackles in the season. By starting the season finale
- 20:23Speaker 6: in Arizona, Wagner tied Jeff Bryant for fifth place in
- 20:26Speaker 6: franchise history with one hundred and sixty seven games started. Man,
- 20:30Speaker 6: he was a second team All Pro. And it was
- 20:33Speaker 6: cool to see fifty four back in that uniform. Last
- 20:36Speaker 6: year he wore a different color blue.
- 20:38Speaker 5: There were some yellow in him. The numbers were flipped.
- 20:41Speaker 6: It was like a whole different universe now he was back.
- 20:45Speaker 6: It was nice to see five four with the green
- 20:47Speaker 6: dot doing his thing.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Man, love love to see Bobby loved you know, he
- 20:52Speaker 3: talked about in his press conference Dame the year that
- 20:54Speaker 3: he intends to keep playing, and we love to see
- 20:57Speaker 3: it because fifty four special in our colors love to
- 21:00Speaker 3: see it.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Then you talk about Julian Love.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Man, the newcomer to the squad, and he had one
- 21:04Speaker 3: hundred and twenty three tackles, one TfL, ten passes defended,
- 21:07Speaker 3: four interceptions, leading the team, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery,
- 21:11Speaker 3: got a Pro Bowl nod for the first time, and
- 21:13Speaker 3: set a career high in tackles, And that was really
- 21:15Speaker 3: good to see because we didn't know we're going to
- 21:17Speaker 3: get from Jamal Adams in terms of his injury history.
- 21:20Speaker 3: So having Julian love step in and really come on
- 21:22Speaker 3: down the stretch and be a player that was relied
- 21:25Speaker 3: upon and really a good anchor in the secondary. So
- 21:28Speaker 3: love what we saw from Julian Love because my man
- 21:31Speaker 3: definitely had a great season, all time season. So congrats
- 21:33Speaker 3: on your new baby and go enjoy yourself in the
- 21:36Speaker 3: Pro Bowl.
- 21:37Speaker 6: Yeah man, first time Pro bowler. You love to see
- 21:40Speaker 6: it about Jordan Brooks got that we didn't expect to see.
- 21:43Speaker 6: I didn't expect to see him for a while, but
- 21:45Speaker 6: he started the season Man one hundred and twenty three tackles,
- 21:48Speaker 6: four and a half sacks, eight tackles for loss, four
- 21:51Speaker 6: passes defended, one interception, and one force fumble. He appeared
- 21:55Speaker 6: in sixteen games. Mean, that's nuts. Six months after tearing
- 21:58Speaker 6: his ACL. He also battle back from an ankle injury
- 22:02Speaker 6: the last six games of the season.
- 22:04Speaker 5: This guy's as tough as they come.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I know that the linebacker group is in good hands
- 22:09Speaker 6: if they get a deal done.
- 22:10Speaker 5: My guy, We'll see what they do with Jordan by
- 22:12Speaker 5: expecting to be back.
- 22:13Speaker 6: I'm glad he got another season to learn under the
- 22:16Speaker 6: og Bobby Wagner. Jordan to fight all odds six months
- 22:20Speaker 6: after surgery, that's crazy to me, and he still put
- 22:23Speaker 6: together their great season.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, JB was Yeah, it's honestly, he's an act of God.
- 22:29Speaker 3: The fact that he was out there as quick as
- 22:30Speaker 3: he was so big up to JB. And then the
- 22:33Speaker 3: rookie should be defensive Rookie of the Year without question.
- 22:37Speaker 4: If you look at the numbers, they.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Can't get us twice. They can't do that to us twice.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Hey, come on, now, had today we got robbed last year.
- 22:45Speaker 3: But you look at spoon Man seventy nine tackles, three sacks,
- 22:48Speaker 3: eight TFLs, sixteen passes defended, one force fumblem ninety seven
- 22:52Speaker 3: yard pick six. He did this in fourteen games, missed
- 22:55Speaker 3: three games. His sixteen passes defended were still fifth in
- 22:58Speaker 3: the entire NFL. Okay, and my case for Rookie of
- 23:02Speaker 3: the Year is obviously if we're just talking about rookies,
- 23:04Speaker 3: especially because he's good enough to be a Pro Bowler
- 23:06Speaker 3: first of all, so he's probably good enough to be
- 23:08Speaker 3: Rookie of the Year. Only rookie to make the Pro
- 23:10Speaker 3: Bowl on defense, so Jalen Carter the other guy that's
- 23:13Speaker 3: probably up for this award. Okay, then you have Pro
- 23:17Speaker 3: Football's top graded rookie defender six hundred stavs pffs, top
- 23:20Speaker 3: graded Seahawks player finished with sixteen pass defended, eighttfls, three sacks,
- 23:24Speaker 3: one of seven players in only rookie to hit those
- 23:27Speaker 3: marks since nineteen ninety nine. I mean, I rest my case,
- 23:30Speaker 3: but dude was a bother. He clearly when Pete Carroll
- 23:33Speaker 3: said that he reminded of Troy Paulamalu, the instincts and
- 23:36Speaker 3: all that, Yeah, that checks out.
- 23:38Speaker 4: So give my man what he deserves. He deserves to
- 23:40Speaker 4: be Rookie of the Year.
- 23:41Speaker 3: And he's going to be a guy that is going
- 23:42Speaker 3: to be a superstar in this league, no question about it.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Yeah, spoon they called him what quadrat call him Lil spoon.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Hey he's hey, he's a spoon. Now he didn't graduated. Yeah,
- 23:56Speaker 6: happy for that guy. How about Jay Reed coming back
- 23:59Speaker 6: this year put together a good season man, Jaran Reed
- 24:02Speaker 6: fifty four tackles, seven sacks, seven tackles for lost, two
- 24:05Speaker 6: passes defendant, and one force fumble.
- 24:08Speaker 5: He was a guy that kind of got the sacks going.
- 24:10Speaker 6: You're trying to figure out where these sacks were going
- 24:12Speaker 6: to come from because of Chenna I suffer the injury.
- 24:15Speaker 5: You think it is a boy as he gonna take
- 24:16Speaker 5: another step.
- 24:17Speaker 6: We'll talk about him later. Is going to be dtam.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Everyone got involved, but Jay Reed got the party going.
- 24:23Speaker 6: And how about the mid season acquisition of Big Kat
- 24:28Speaker 6: Leonard Williams from the New York Football Giants. He had
- 24:31Speaker 6: forty one tackles for sacks, nine TfL's, one pass defended,
- 24:35Speaker 6: and he did it with ten games.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Also, you pointed this out, he did not have a
- 24:39Speaker 5: bye week.
- 24:40Speaker 6: He sacrificed the bye week getting traded from New York
- 24:43Speaker 6: already had there or the Hawks already had their bye week.
- 24:45Speaker 6: He comes over here and says, keep the party going.
- 24:48Speaker 6: I'm healthy. The twenty nine year old helped us out
- 24:51Speaker 6: this year.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I really hope Big Cat is a guy
- 24:53Speaker 3: that's back on this team next year because of what
- 24:55Speaker 3: we saw from him, the potential inside. He can be
- 24:58Speaker 3: an anchor on this team and really helped good the
- 25:00Speaker 3: defense turn around.
- 25:01Speaker 4: So hopefully you see him. And then boy A.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Man, if there's anyone on this team that really took
- 25:06Speaker 3: a step from freshman year to second year player, it
- 25:09Speaker 3: was boy A. Mafe fifty two tackles, nine sacks, led
- 25:12Speaker 3: the team, nine TfL, six pass defended, wooden force fumble,
- 25:15Speaker 3: two fumble recoveries. He did this thing. At one point
- 25:18Speaker 3: he had seven straight games with a sack. And the
- 25:21Speaker 3: cool thing about boy A is that he has so
- 25:23Speaker 3: much room to grow, so much room to grow, because
- 25:26Speaker 3: he's not even he's just scratching the surface of his potential.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Once he kind of figures some stuff out, more so
- 25:30Speaker 3: in the run game and gets consistent at setting that edge,
- 25:33Speaker 3: he is going to be a perennial pro Bowl type player.
- 25:36Speaker 3: So really love what we've seen from Boya this year
- 25:38Speaker 3: and this season. So a lot of ballers. We could
- 25:41Speaker 3: have gone on and on. There's other people that contributed
- 25:43Speaker 3: this team, but we want to make sure those guys
- 25:46Speaker 3: got their flowers this year. And then I just want
- 25:48Speaker 3: to give you guys a quick little preview of what
- 25:51Speaker 3: you can expect from the Seahawks.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Kind of offseason calendar. Coming up, what's on tap?
- 25:58Speaker 1: What's on tap?
- 26:00Speaker 4: So coming up on the calendar, things to circle.
- 26:02Speaker 3: NFL Combine February twenty seventh to March fourth, so some
- 26:06Speaker 3: people call it the under our Olympics. That's where a
- 26:08Speaker 3: lot of dreams come true. Run your forty times, do
- 26:11Speaker 3: your three cone, all that good stuff. So then coming
- 26:14Speaker 3: up after that, what's really important Free agency March thirteenth
- 26:17Speaker 3: is when it officially starts, So you're gonna start. That's
- 26:20Speaker 3: we officially start seeing people sign with teams. You obviously
- 26:23Speaker 3: hear stuff leak out before that. Then teams can get
- 26:26Speaker 3: into their offseason programs. NFL Draft April twenty fifth through
- 26:29Speaker 3: the twenty seventh, and then depending on the new head
- 26:32Speaker 3: coach or schedule, usually the rookie Mini Camp is either
- 26:35Speaker 3: the week following the draft or the week after the draft.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Then you got the.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Schedule release in may OTA's mandatory mini camp, and you know,
- 26:44Speaker 3: towards the end of June, and then we'll be back
- 26:46Speaker 3: at it in training camp, bump back at it in
- 26:49Speaker 3: training camp again.
- 26:50Speaker 4: I'm bummed.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I'm bummed that we're not talking all y'all getting ready
- 26:54Speaker 3: to go to San Francisco because we saw what happened
- 26:56Speaker 3: in Dallas.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Gosh darn it day we saw, Oh what happened. That
- 27:00Speaker 4: should have been us, That should have been us.
- 27:03Speaker 3: But you know, unfortunately the clock just ran out on
- 27:06Speaker 3: the season.
- 27:11Speaker 4: On me taken by Huntley.
- 27:12Speaker 5: They're just gonna left the clock wind down.
- 27:14Speaker 2: But it's not even gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 27:17Speaker 3: See, it's got a lot of address this offseason, bump,
- 27:20Speaker 3: but a lot to look forward to. Man, And when
- 27:23Speaker 3: I look at this, I think there's a lot of potential.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I'm excited for what could happen. And Uh, when you
- 27:28Speaker 3: look at this offseason, what's the favorite part of the
- 27:29Speaker 3: off season for you? Are you're a combined guy, your
- 27:31Speaker 3: draft guy, you're an OCA guys, what do you get
- 27:34Speaker 3: excited about?
- 27:36Speaker 6: I'm a draft guy, man, I want to see you
- 27:38Speaker 6: got the number sixteen pick. What are you gonna do
- 27:40Speaker 6: with that pick? Is it offense? Is a defense? You
- 27:42Speaker 6: don't have a second round pick. We know John likes
- 27:45Speaker 6: to flip picks into turn three and a four on
- 27:48Speaker 6: a seven. You know that's what John does. I want
- 27:50Speaker 6: to see what they do with that second round pick
- 27:52Speaker 6: and see how motivated these veteran guys come back. You know,
- 27:56Speaker 6: we know there are some guys who are going to
- 27:57Speaker 6: be here. Spoon to be here, Requill be here, DK,
- 28:01Speaker 6: Lockett and Walker. We're assuming all the guys that we
- 28:04Speaker 6: just talked about now most of them will be here.
- 28:06Speaker 6: How are they gonna work on their games? But it
- 28:08Speaker 6: starts with the draft.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Man.
- 28:10Speaker 5: I love the draft. I love the drama of it.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Sorry and get things rolling.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yeah, man, the off season goes by pretty quick, so
- 28:18Speaker 3: this is kind of what's gonna go on from here
- 28:20Speaker 3: on out.
- 28:20Speaker 4: So if there's some big news being bumble hop back
- 28:22Speaker 4: on here.
- 28:23Speaker 3: When the Seahawks a side and you know, have whoever's
- 28:25Speaker 3: gonna be the next head coach of the Seahawks and
- 28:26Speaker 3: other news that kind of comes up through the off season.
- 28:28Speaker 3: So we're not gonna leave you hanging this whole time.
- 28:31Speaker 3: But but man, we've been doing this for five years.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Man, that's pretty crazy.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Like next year's gonna be the best year too. Let's go.
- 28:40Speaker 3: It's gonna be the best year because we're gonna go
- 28:41Speaker 3: till February and we're gonna win a super Bowl and
- 28:43Speaker 3: all those good things are gonna happen.
- 28:44Speaker 4: We'll get our rings, we're gonna have our party down
- 28:46Speaker 4: and so it's Vegas.
- 28:48Speaker 3: It was Vegas this year, but next year it's gonna
- 28:50Speaker 3: be Dang, that's where I looked it up.
- 28:53Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. We'll be there.
- 28:54Speaker 5: We'll be there, don't matter. Book the tickets somewhere.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Well, we be preppy sire. You guys listening all season.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Like I said, we'll be with you preodicky throughout the
- 29:02Speaker 3: offseason and keep you up to date on the latest

- 29:16Speaker 3: Monday through Friday ten to two on The bump In
- 29:18Speaker 3: Stacey Show for the scision of Talk Talk.
- 29:20Speaker 4: He's Michael Bump. It's on NaSTA Show, but we'll talk
- 29:22Speaker 4: to you soon.
