Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates and ready to go
- 0:02Speaker 1: at Sport & State. Chad Withrow, I'm Jonathan Hutton. This
- 0:05Speaker 1: is Hutton & Withrow. We are presented by Hard Rock Bet.
- 0:08Speaker 1: You can go to hardrock.bet.com. Take advantage of the $ 5,
- 0:13Speaker 1: $ 100 bonus.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Bet right now. Chad, good morning.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We've got a great show planned as we stream live
- 0:19Speaker 1: at Sport & State on YouTube, plus.
- 0:21Speaker 2: At Daily Wire.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Good morning, Hutton.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Big thanks to Coach Derek Dooley for that big dose
- 0:25Speaker 3: of humility.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 1: That's right, every morning during the Open, during that.
- 0:28Speaker 3: You know, I like to start the day knowing my place,
- 0:31Speaker 3: being humbled. I can also just take one look at
- 0:33Speaker 3: my DMs right now and be humbled very easily at
- 0:37Speaker 3: being called a racist repeatedly for daring to question the
- 0:40Speaker 3: intelligence of a quarterback in the National Football League that
- 0:42Speaker 3: gets paid millions to play the position. So we'll talk
- 0:46Speaker 3: about that today, Hutton. We've got so many big topics
- 0:48Speaker 3: to get to. Danny Connell's Top 25 is insane. or
- 0:53Speaker 3: at least his top 10. The rationale, for sure. We're
- 0:55Speaker 3: going to discuss our buddy Danny Connell's top 10. We've
- 0:59Speaker 3: got a lot of college football to get to. We've
- 1:01Speaker 3: got a lot of NFL to get to, including more
- 1:03Speaker 3: Titans discussion because there's so much to talk about with
- 1:06Speaker 3: that team, Hutton. But pretty big moment Saturday night in Austin, Texas, we've.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Got to get to. Yeah, the comeback was incredible.
- 1:14Speaker 1: That's where we're going to discuss Danny Connell's top 25
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of what Ohio State, they didn't get the win,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but it's what they did. on the road there. And
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's what ESPN didn't do. They didn't have a great setup.
- 1:26Speaker 1: They had equipment malfunctions.
- 1:27Speaker 2: That happens.
- 1:29Speaker 1: They have the issues with the tech. That happens on
- 1:33Speaker 1: our end. It happened to me yesterday. You had the
- 1:37Speaker 1: apology for the halftime interview, and then postgame, there's the
- 1:40Speaker 1: Holly Rowe run-in where there's people on her side, there's
- 1:44Speaker 1: people on Sark's side. He says, hook them and runs off,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and she gives the the look of just a pure,
- 1:54Speaker 1: she's annoyed.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Let's put it that way. I'll be nice in that regard.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But Chad, there's a lot of the uses of the
- 2:02Speaker 1: word ass today on the show. And we've got, we
- 2:08Speaker 1: have the Titans who played like ass, the Jets who
- 2:11Speaker 1: kicked their ass, Cam Ward, who is I-ass. And then
- 2:15Speaker 1: there's Sark, who you're just.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Calling him an ass.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, look, he's shown this behavior before. He doesn't appear
- 2:25Speaker 3: to be the most likable guy. Remember when they were
- 2:27Speaker 3: about to run out? I think it was a bowl
- 2:29Speaker 3: game or a playoff game.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 2:31Speaker 3: But the dude that was with the TV team or
- 2:34Speaker 3: the stadium team held him back for a second because
- 2:37Speaker 3: the fireworks were going off or whatever. And he immediately,
- 2:41Speaker 3: don't you ever touch me! And got in his face
- 2:44Speaker 3: and is screaming at him and going nuts. And that
- 2:46Speaker 3: was caught on camera.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I mean, that was example number one of, all right,
- 2:49Speaker 1: maybe this guy has a bit of a screw loose,
- 2:52Speaker 1: which a lot of football coaches do. And look, I'm not.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Some shrieking violet that's upset that a coach has anger
- 3:00Speaker 3: or is emotional or anything like that. It's an emotional sport.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I understand all this. But you beat Ohio State in
- 3:09Speaker 3: a game you had marked for so long. If you're
- 3:11Speaker 3: Steve Sarkeesian, right? You didn't lose the game. It's a
- 3:13Speaker 3: legacy game. I understand being upset at halftime, by the way.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And then there's technical issues, so he's not going to
- 3:19Speaker 3: wait more than 20 seconds probably and then tell them
- 3:22Speaker 3: to F off and run to the locker room. And
- 3:24Speaker 3: Laura Rutledge handled it fine. She's like, look, we need
- 3:25Speaker 3: to be apologizing to him.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I had to hold him up.
- 3:28Speaker 3: He didn't decline it. We just had problems. He wanted
- 3:30Speaker 3: to go talk to his team.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Fine.
- 3:32Speaker 3: No issue with that. But postgame, you get the biggest
- 3:35Speaker 3: win of your Texas career. you've got a spotlight there
- 3:40Speaker 3: to talk about Arch Manning or the team or what
- 3:43Speaker 3: just happened on the field and all this.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Which is very typical, right? It's contractual to some degree.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's contractual.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And also, the person interviewing you has a flagstick that
- 3:54Speaker 3: says ESPN on it, and it's a company that's paying
- 3:56Speaker 3: you $ 3 billion. $ 300 million annually is what ESPN pays
- 4:01Speaker 3: the SEC for the rights of.
- 4:03Speaker 1: To college football.
- 4:04Speaker 2: That's a big part.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Everyone wants to come back and say, the fans pay
- 4:07Speaker 3: the salary. It's all about the wins. And if he's winning,
- 4:10Speaker 3: that's what pays him the salary. ESPN has nothing to
- 4:12Speaker 3: do with it. I'm here to tell you guys, ESPN
- 4:15Speaker 3: has a lot to do with it.
- 4:16Speaker 1: A lot.
- 4:17Speaker 3: The reason that the SEC is so powerful, maybe the
- 4:21Speaker 3: biggest reason is their media rights package with ESPN and
- 4:25Speaker 3: how they can promote the conference and The games and
- 4:28Speaker 3: the availability of them and how everybody can go watch
- 4:30Speaker 3: them and how many people watch them in $ 3 billion.
- 4:34Speaker 3: That's a big piece of the pie to pay coaches also.
- 4:38Speaker 3: That's Steve Sarkeesian making the money that he makes at Texas.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So ESPN and the SEC in Texas are partners to
- 4:46Speaker 3: an extent.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yes, and let me jump into that. They're really powerful
- 4:50Speaker 1: with the college football playoff. That's where they really control things, Chad,
- 4:54Speaker 1: because CBS was getting a bargain basement deal with the
- 4:57Speaker 1: SEC prior to this, and the SEC was all-empowerful then too.
- 5:00Speaker 1: But it's the control and the partnership of the SEC
- 5:04Speaker 1: that gets a lot in. They're dominating the college football
- 5:07Speaker 1: playoff with teams that get in. That's the real power
- 5:11Speaker 1: that both have and the ownership, so to speak, of
- 5:14Speaker 1: college football. No doubt.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Point being, it doesn't take a– a deep knowledge, ball-knowing
- 5:22Speaker 3: person to understand that ESPN and SEC are in bed together.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And it is the SEC that is benefiting with a
- 5:27Speaker 3: huge check that's being.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Cut by ESPN.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Also, last I checked, ESPN is the best out there
- 5:33Speaker 3: doing live sports. It's still where most people go to
- 5:36Speaker 3: watch live sports. We can talk about their opinion shows
- 5:39Speaker 3: and all that. A lot of them are trash. I
- 5:41Speaker 3: don't care about them. I completely agree with you on this.
- 5:43Speaker 3: But College Game Day is the standard bear of the
- 5:47Speaker 3: college football pregame show. And their lineup is still the
- 5:50Speaker 3: best in all of sports throughout the day. And that
- 5:53Speaker 3: is a great relationship for the SEC. So Steve Sarkeesian
- 5:58Speaker 3: to then ghost Holly Rowe the way he did, clearly irritated,
- 6:02Speaker 3: probably about halftime, and being held up. And to do that,
- 6:07Speaker 3: I thought was insane of Steve Sarkeesian. I'm not defending,
- 6:11Speaker 3: and I know you're going to talk about Holly Roe,
- 6:13Speaker 3: and I want you to. I'm not defending Holly Roe.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm not going to act.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Like Holly Roe is my queen the way a lot
- 6:19Speaker 3: of media people do. Oh, my gosh, how dare you
- 6:21Speaker 3: insult my queen, the sports siren Holly Roe. How dare
- 6:25Speaker 3: you disrespect her. This is not about Holly Roe to me, okay?
- 6:28Speaker 3: But this is also the point that I want to make,
- 6:30Speaker 3: that it just drives me nuts with people. Ryan on Twitter,
- 6:35Speaker 3: on TwitterX, responds, because I said, hey— Steve Sarkeesian seems
- 6:39Speaker 3: like a real asshole, all right? And that gets a
- 6:41Speaker 3: huge response from people. I have Texas fans.
- 6:43Speaker 1: You're a cuck.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Go sit in your chair. How dare you insult him?
- 6:46Speaker 3: He's just being a man. He's masculine. He's an alpha.
- 6:50Speaker 3: If he wants to turn down and spit in the
- 6:51Speaker 3: face of an interview after a win like that, he
- 6:53Speaker 3: has the right to do it. I believe there is
- 6:56Speaker 3: a general way to treat people when you're interacting with
- 6:58Speaker 3: them just on a normal human basis, right? There's no
- 7:02Speaker 3: need to just be a jerk to be a jerk
- 7:04Speaker 3: to somebody.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:05Speaker 1: You can just still have a nice interaction with someone.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You don't have to be so wound up that you're
- 7:12Speaker 1: just yelling at people and being a jerk to someone
- 7:14Speaker 1: just because you feel like you can. Maybe I'm weird
- 7:17Speaker 1: that way. That's maybe some old-fashioned values that I have.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It costs nothing to be pleasant and nice to someone.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You're right. It's free.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So just be nice to someone if they're trying to
- 7:26Speaker 3: give you an interview. It's like she was going to
- 7:27Speaker 3: hit him with a hard-hitting question. Coach, how great is
- 7:30Speaker 3: this right now in Austin? That's the whole interview. It's
- 7:34Speaker 3: him talking about that.
- 7:36Speaker 1: The Holly Roe part of this, though, it's the look
- 7:38Speaker 1: at the end. Let me get to this tweet first.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Because then I want you to get to Holly Roe. Yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I want to hear it. Yeah, okay, so go. Is
- 7:47Speaker 1: this guy defending Holly Roe or just taking it up
- 7:48Speaker 1: for Sark?
- 7:49Speaker 3: Of course not. The people who responded to me are all,
- 7:52Speaker 3: you know, I'm a cuck. Sark is a man. Holly
- 7:55Speaker 3: Rose sucks. You know, the media sucks. You're an Oklahoma fan.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I'm for anyone ever spitting in the.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Face of media. This is what bothers me, though, okay?
- 8:05Speaker 3: Ryan Jones on Twitter says, don't be this guy, Chad.
- 8:08Speaker 3: The media is unpopular. Many of us wanted behavior like this.
- 8:13Speaker 3: What law says he has to talk to her?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Okay. There is no law that says he has to
- 8:18Speaker 1: talk to her, okay? There is a contract.
- 8:21Speaker 3: With the ESPN and SEC, and I guarantee you as
- 8:23Speaker 3: part of the game contract or the agreement is there
- 8:26Speaker 3: are so many set media availabilities for the coach. He
- 8:29Speaker 3: needs to go talk to the production crew, as an example.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'm sure he talked to Chris Fowler and Kurt Curbstreet.
- 8:34Speaker 3: There's a pregame thing. There's a halftime thing. There's a
- 8:37Speaker 3: postgame thing if you win.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Keep that in mind. They won the game, too.
- 8:41Speaker 3: So if you win, you're going to do all these things.
- 8:43Speaker 3: There's no law about that, but yes, there's a contract.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Between the two. The other thing, the media is unpopular. Okay.
- 8:51Speaker 3: If you were going to say the media is all
- 8:54Speaker 3: the same about what everyone does. So what Ryan is
- 8:58Speaker 3: probably saying is the writer for the New York times
- 9:01Speaker 3: who backed mandated vaccines.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And we all said that they're wrong.
- 9:07Speaker 3: That person is the same as sports siren, Holly row,
- 9:11Speaker 3: who was paid to sit there and look at a
- 9:13Speaker 3: coach and go, coach, isn't this great? Tell us about
- 9:17Speaker 3: how great this is and how wonderful your program is.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And, oh, my God, Arch Manning. Tell us about it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: That's not the same, dude. Like, this whole the media
- 9:26Speaker 3: is unpopular, so say no to the media. These are
- 9:29Speaker 3: different things. Laura Rutledge giving an interview during the game.
- 9:33Speaker 3: By the way, Steve Sarkeesian, very pleasant if you notice
- 9:35Speaker 3: the side-by-side when he's seen.
- 9:37Speaker 1: With Laura Rutledge. as opposed to Holly Rowe. These are
- 9:40Speaker 1: not the same things.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Because you're angry about political slants or the coverage of
- 9:46Speaker 3: COVID with the New York Times, this is not the
- 9:49Speaker 3: same as ESPN reporter Holly Rowe propping you up for
- 9:54Speaker 3: a postgame victory lap.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I look at this and think he just had waited
- 9:58Speaker 1: at halftime for a however long this was with technical issues.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And as they go to the, it's not like he
- 10:06Speaker 1: didn't go to Holly Rowe. He comes over after the game.
- 10:09Speaker 1: And Chad, if you notice, her mic's not working at
- 10:12Speaker 1: the very beginning. She drops it down and picks it
- 10:14Speaker 1: back up because she can't hear herself in her earpiece.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And so I think he just thinks, oh, here we
- 10:19Speaker 1: go again.
- 10:20Speaker 4: I'm out.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Because ESPN screwed this up again, too. And who knows
- 10:24Speaker 1: what happened behind the scenes with making him wait and
- 10:26Speaker 1: the equipment not working. Yeah, he was a jerk there.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But Holly Rowe knows that the equipment wasn't working at first.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And then her mic comes on. And then she turns
- 10:38Speaker 1: around and you see the face that she gives. It's like, oh,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I didn't get my moment. is what I'm thinking. Like,
- 10:47Speaker 1: your equipment wasn't working and he's a coach that's just
- 10:49Speaker 1: fired up and he's still pissed off probably about halftime.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He's also a guy that is, I don't think he's
- 10:55Speaker 1: just like crazy, but it's not, I mean, he did
- 10:59Speaker 1: have a, he did have some issues at USC, you know,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and I'm not saying that happened there, but like, I'm
- 11:05Speaker 1: sure he is kind of fired up about everything.
- 11:08Speaker 2: That's just him.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And I don't, it wasn't a huge issue It would
- 11:15Speaker 1: have been, had there been some kind of controversy going
- 11:18Speaker 1: into this, it would be this week, this coming week,
- 11:22Speaker 1: with Ole.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Miss and LSU.
- 11:27Speaker 1: But the comeback, I was surprised he didn't want to
- 11:31Speaker 1: get the glory himself or put it on Archer, whoever
- 11:34Speaker 1: he wanted to. I guess he didn't feel like he
- 11:36Speaker 1: needed to. He also didn't do the Ryan Day taking
- 11:40Speaker 1: shots at Lou Holtz after a win. in taking the interview.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I just think he saw the equipment not working.
- 11:48Speaker 2: He's like, I'm not waiting on you again.
- 11:50Speaker 4: I'm out.
- 11:51Speaker 1: He would wait with Laura Rutledge, I guess. It was
- 11:53Speaker 1: a very quick look down at the mic. She pretty
- 11:56Speaker 1: quickly got to the question. He wouldn't know about the
- 11:58Speaker 1: audio because he's not hearing anything. She's not hearing herself
- 12:01Speaker 1: or any of that.
- 12:01Speaker 2: She tries to speak and then she drops the mic.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that certainly whatever happened at halftime led
- 12:05Speaker 3: into him deciding, I'm out on ESPN.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I'm not going to do this. Wasn't it weird how
- 12:10Speaker 2: much they apologized?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think Laura Rutledge's whole thing is like,
- 12:15Speaker 3: my access is what I need down here. I'm not
- 12:18Speaker 3: a hard-hitting journalist, but I need them to do the
- 12:20Speaker 3: interview and be open to talking to me. So instead
- 12:24Speaker 3: of burying the guy, because I'm sure by watching it's like, man,
- 12:27Speaker 3: Steve Sarkeesian's mad. He's butthurt about being down at halftime.
- 12:30Speaker 3: He ran off from me. I was fine with that.
- 12:33Speaker 3: She's clarifying like, hey, we actually owe him kind of
- 12:35Speaker 3: an apology. He didn't refuse it. He walked away before
- 12:39Speaker 3: because we had technical issues.
- 12:41Speaker 1: After time at halftime.
- 12:42Speaker 2: But he doesn't try to speak in the mic. He
- 12:44Speaker 2: just gives the hook'em in the camera. And that's postgame.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And then, again, at halftime, I just felt like it was–
- 12:51Speaker 1: everybody has technical issues. I don't hear an apology on
- 12:53Speaker 1: behalf of ESPN on the sideline report.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Who knows what?
- 12:57Speaker 3: I don't know what– I think Laura Rutledge is one
- 12:59Speaker 3: of the nicest people in sports media, having talked to her.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And I think that she would be the one to
- 13:03Speaker 3: go out of her way. I don't think– I think
- 13:06Speaker 3: Holly Rose– I've got to be careful here.
- 13:09Speaker 4: I know.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I know. I think Holly Roe's public perception is that
- 13:15Speaker 3: she's extremely sweet and nice. I think that's true a
- 13:18Speaker 3: lot of the time. I think Holly Roe has gotten
- 13:22Speaker 3: high on her own supply a little bit. This is
- 13:26Speaker 3: also what drives me crazy. I will side with the
- 13:29Speaker 3: guy who tweeted me on this. The media does a
- 13:31Speaker 3: good job of propping up. In the media bubble, they
- 13:35Speaker 3: prop up some women in sports. to a level that
- 13:39Speaker 3: I don't really think they're at. And Holly Roe is probably,
- 13:42Speaker 3: not that Holly Roe's bad at what she does, it's
- 13:44Speaker 3: just like you can't, she's beyond criticism, right? There's this
- 13:47Speaker 3: thought like you can't criticize Holly Roe. You grant Holly
- 13:50Speaker 3: Roe the interview.
- 13:50Speaker 2: She's amazing.
- 13:51Speaker 1: She's awesome.
- 13:52Speaker 3: And I think Holly Roe's a nice person, but I
- 13:54Speaker 3: don't think Holly Roe handled it well either. She could
- 13:57Speaker 3: have made herself look a lot better and probably garnered
- 14:00Speaker 3: even more sympathy for And the whole thing had she
- 14:03Speaker 3: just said, well, guys, clearly not in the mood to talk.
- 14:06Speaker 3: And Texas gets a huge win. So I'll send it
- 14:08Speaker 3: back up to you guys or whatever. Like you could
- 14:10Speaker 3: have played it off in a more professional, respectful way
- 14:14Speaker 3: than rolling your eyes like a teenage girl scorned and
- 14:18Speaker 3: walking off and stomping off the field. Like that stop
- 14:20Speaker 3: off was very weird of just looking back like. First off,
- 14:24Speaker 3: you've been in that situation a million times. You've got
- 14:26Speaker 3: to roll with it and say something into the mic.
- 14:28Speaker 3: She turned and looked like she was going to say
- 14:30Speaker 3: something and huffed away and rolled her eyes and stomped
- 14:33Speaker 3: off the field like a 13-year-old, which I thought was
- 14:36Speaker 3: very odd also.
- 14:37Speaker 1: It was the second time that he had done that
- 14:39Speaker 1: because he had just left right leg at halftime.
- 14:42Speaker 3: But he stomped off at halftime too, I'm sure. He's
- 14:46Speaker 3: the jerk who started it. I don't think Holly Rowe
- 14:49Speaker 3: handled it well either. And if it was Texas-Tennessee this week,
- 14:53Speaker 3: And they had a similar crew there, even for the
- 14:55Speaker 3: noon game where Holly wrote. It would be a story
- 14:58Speaker 3: of how is he going to handle this with ESPN.
- 15:00Speaker 3: But luckily for Texas, they get Texas San Antonio on
- 15:04Speaker 3: SEC Network Plus this week.
- 15:06Speaker 1: So I don't think Holly Rose is going to be
- 15:07Speaker 1: doing that game. So Rutledge comes on. Here's the quote
- 15:10Speaker 1: you said on air. I do want to make sure
- 15:11Speaker 1: we clear something up. Sarkeesian did decline the interview at halftime.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He had waited a long time, was very patient with
- 15:16Speaker 1: some technical issues that we had. He apologized to us.
- 15:19Speaker 1: We should be apologizing to him, which we did. that
- 15:23Speaker 1: goes on to discuss other things. I just like, I mean,
- 15:26Speaker 1: it's just, it's technical issues. And half the time, I
- 15:30Speaker 1: prefer someone just give a halftime report. But, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: we've got Aaron Andrews.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I mean, let's just make that up.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Carissa Thompson.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Well, and Aaron Andrews. Carissa Thompson was responding to Aaron Andrews.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Aaron Andrews, by the way, if you remember, she had
- 15:45Speaker 3: the famous moment with Richard Sherman, where she got some
- 15:48Speaker 3: heat too, when he was like yelling at, You know,
- 15:51Speaker 3: he's like, what now?
- 15:53Speaker 4: What now?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Like in the interview.
- 15:54Speaker 3: And she's like offended that he was like yelling into
- 15:57Speaker 3: the mic. It wasn't yelling at her. It was just
- 15:59Speaker 3: like talking about the critics or whatever into the mic.
- 16:02Speaker 3: And instead of being like, all right, we got something here.
- 16:04Speaker 2: She was aghast.
- 16:06Speaker 3: You know, it was like the girl for CNN when
- 16:08Speaker 3: Clay said boobs was her response to like, oh, my God.
- 16:12Speaker 1: You raised your voice. What's happening?
- 16:14Speaker 3: I mean, she almost ran for the hills during that moment.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And that was another one. Again, I'm not.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Defending Holly Roe personally and acting like she's above all
- 16:23Speaker 3: criticism or that she's owed this or she's owed that.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I am telling the sporting public, the SEC, I'm sorry,
- 16:31Speaker 3: the ESPN, they are owed something from the SEC. It's
- 16:35Speaker 3: a $ 3 billion contract. Those coaches owe the time they
- 16:41Speaker 3: can give to ESPN as a partner. Whether you like
- 16:44Speaker 3: that or not, or you think they don't owe anybody anything,
- 16:47Speaker 3: they absolutely owe them. Tennessee's playing Texas at noon because
- 16:51Speaker 3: ESPN tells them they're playing Texas at noon. Tennessee does
- 16:55Speaker 3: not want to play that game at noon. I've talked
- 16:57Speaker 3: to people at Tennessee. They'd much rather that be a
- 16:59Speaker 3: night kickoff where everyone's liquored up and ready to go
- 17:02Speaker 3: for the first battle in football of the SEC between
- 17:05Speaker 3: the two UTs.
- 17:07Speaker 1: That's what they want. You know why they're playing at noon?
- 17:09Speaker 1: Because ESPN said you're playing at noon.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Because they owe it to them.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Because it's a $ 3 billion partnership, people. Yeah, that's the contract.
- 17:20Speaker 1: They choose to let LSU get liquored up instead. LSU
- 17:23Speaker 1: and Texas A & M is a tripleheader on ABC.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Alabama's playing at 2. I think Georgia's playing at 2.30, actually.
- 17:29Speaker 1: And then there's LSU and A & M. But that's
- 17:33Speaker 1: a triple header of top 25 teams. Top 25 matchups
- 17:36Speaker 1: that week. And I'm with you. You've got the number
- 17:39Speaker 1: one team. This is the first week of the assignments, right?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Of the actual kickoff times. I think week four is
- 17:47Speaker 1: the first one. Week four is the first flex. So
- 17:50Speaker 1: that's the first time they actually reveal new times. But
- 17:53Speaker 1: it's always, you know, the window. It's like, you know, I.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Think Tennessee Tech is going to be early.
- 17:58Speaker 3: It was never going to be at night, but they
- 17:59Speaker 3: give you like late afternoon or night, you know, or
- 18:01Speaker 3: it'll be like six or seven. You know, they could,
- 18:04Speaker 3: they could do that too with a flex. So, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 3: about what time, but not the exact time.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Chad, we need to, well, I won't be able to
- 18:10Speaker 1: go to that one, but the tailgate breakfast will be,
- 18:13Speaker 1: will be fun. If you want to, if you want
- 18:15Speaker 1: to sponsor the, the mid-morning, lick it up, get ready
- 18:20Speaker 1: for the game.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Well, I think most people will still be drunk from
- 18:22Speaker 3: the night before is the route to go in Knoxville.
- 18:25Speaker 2: But is it all day? There's a reason why.
- 18:28Speaker 3: It'll be a three and a half hour come down
- 18:30Speaker 3: is what it'll be for most people in that stadium
- 18:32Speaker 3: that are younger that day and older for that matter.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It'll be one long, oh my gosh, I'm no longer buzzed.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That's going to be the whole day. They're sweating out
- 18:42Speaker 1: all the impurities by the second half. Sweating the impurities.
- 18:47Speaker 1: The Titans were the letdown. this past week on Sunday,
- 18:52Speaker 1: losing to the Jets. And in thinking through, what just
- 18:57Speaker 1: happened there? Because it's not the loss. I say this
- 18:59Speaker 1: a lot. It's not if you lose, it's how you lose.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And the Titans didn't just come out flat. They came
- 19:05Speaker 1: out with no energy. And it's an offseason filled with
- 19:09Speaker 1: all gas, no break.
- 19:11Speaker 2: We didn't see that.
- 19:12Speaker 1: We didn't see bell to ass, as Jeffrey Simmons would describe.
- 19:17Speaker 1: We saw the Titans play like.
- 19:19Speaker 2: That instead.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And if you go back, I'm going to compare when
- 19:22Speaker 1: we get back, of Sala, Simmons, Borgonzi, there was a
- 19:27Speaker 1: message that was being repeated a lot in the offseason
- 19:31Speaker 1: that quickly turned into something else. And there's a report
- 19:35Speaker 1: from the sideline that is a bad sign for Robert
- 19:39Speaker 1: Sala and his leader, Cam Ward. Straight ahead here on

- 20:46Speaker 3: That's hardrock.bet.com.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Chad, it was quite the result against the New York
- 20:53Speaker 1: Jets for the Tennessee Tigers. Quite the result.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And just thinking things through, Jared Stillman, he said it's
- 21:02Speaker 1: the worst possible opponent in Week 1. You'd rather play
- 21:07Speaker 1: someone like the Bills, for instance. But I see these
- 21:11Speaker 1: guys in college win 73-3 whenever they're playing Children of
- 21:17Speaker 1: the Poor down the street. So I don't think it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: the opponent. It's the message. The buy-in's not there. And
- 21:26Speaker 1: I've got some examples for you. Because Robert Stahl is hired.
- 21:29Speaker 2: And by the way.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm not trying to dig on Robert Sala here, but
- 21:34Speaker 1: I would be very alarmed with the Week 1 result,
- 21:37Speaker 1: even though, guys, it's just Week 1. That's the messaging
- 21:40Speaker 1: that's coming out of their practice facility and at the
- 21:42Speaker 1: podium postgame. In fact, it was coming out in preseason
- 21:46Speaker 1: when I pointed out they're more worried about Week 18
- 21:48Speaker 1: than they are Week 1 because it's about where they're going,
- 21:51Speaker 1: not where they are right now, which is very concerning.
- 21:54Speaker 1: When they have an opportunity to win at home for
- 21:56Speaker 1: the first time in 15 years in Week 1... And
- 22:00Speaker 1: the first time to win in the opening weekend.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Like six. I mean, it's been a while. And it's
- 22:05Speaker 2: been a while since.
- 22:06Speaker 1: The players came out and played the way they talked
- 22:09Speaker 1: in the offseason. For example, let's start with some background.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Here's Robert Sala at the introductory press conference where he's
- 22:19Speaker 1: asked where the bar is set. And keep in mind,
- 22:22Speaker 1: if this is the floor right now, where is the
- 22:26Speaker 1: bar set in Robert Sala's eyes when he took the job?
- 22:30Speaker 1: a standard, what will it look like when the standard
- 22:33Speaker 1: is set? How will people be able to recognize that
- 22:35Speaker 1: your standard has been set?
- 22:36Speaker 5: I already said it, man. They're going to pop off
- 22:38Speaker 5: the tape. You're going to feel like you're on the
- 22:41Speaker 5: field with them, with the energy, the juice, the speed,
- 22:44Speaker 5: the violence. You're going to feel it from the living room.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Sitting on your couch, you'll be able to feel this
- 22:49Speaker 5: football team.
- 22:50Speaker 2: What do you feel like are It was the opposite,
- 22:53Speaker 2: the total opposite of that.
- 22:55Speaker 1: We felt it. We felt the football team, just not
- 22:58Speaker 1: the way he anticipated. The effort, I mean, it sounds
- 23:01Speaker 1: like he's the coach of the Jets right there, based
- 23:02Speaker 1: on the way the Jets play. His standard is about effort, energy, speed, violence.
- 23:09Speaker 1: That's a mentality. The Titans don't have that identity, and
- 23:13Speaker 1: they can't speak that into existence. Here's Robert Sala post-game.
- 23:17Speaker 1: after that that's that's that's his vibe right that's the
- 23:21Speaker 1: standard that he's setting for the team that's where he's
- 23:23Speaker 1: got to get this team but after the week one
- 23:27Speaker 1: just collapse uh that terrible performance embarrassing performance against the
- 23:33Speaker 1: jets here he is week one this is monday on
- 23:36Speaker 1: a zoom call with local media.
- 23:38Speaker 5: Your question with regards to the o-line d-line guys it's
- 23:41Speaker 5: week one uh I get it. There's 16 cities that
- 23:46Speaker 5: are overreacting on everything, and we've got to keep the
- 23:49Speaker 5: main thing the main thing. We've got to grow. We've
- 23:51Speaker 5: got to watch the tape. We've got to be honest
- 23:52Speaker 5: with ourselves. We are not the team that showed up
- 23:57Speaker 5: on Sunday, but we also have to acknowledge that we've
- 24:00Speaker 5: got a long way to go. But I know that
- 24:03Speaker 5: we've got a group of guys that are going to
- 24:04Speaker 5: come in here, work, and get ready for Philadelphia.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you do have a long way to go.
- 24:10Speaker 1: The death march seems to be on already to the
- 24:12Speaker 1: end of the season, at the end of December. Chad,
- 24:15Speaker 1: there's Mike Borgonzi now. Mike Borgonzi, Titans general manager. He
- 24:20Speaker 1: agrees with Salah's all gas, no break. That's not hard
- 24:22Speaker 1: to buy into. That's what the Titans need. But he
- 24:25Speaker 1: seems to also agree with the Titans season actually starts
- 24:31Speaker 1: in the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas time.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Not here when we're actually kicking off the season. And
- 24:36Speaker 1: That's not the mentality we're seeing despite the physical effort,
- 24:41Speaker 1: the best training camp, the toughest training camp we've heard from.
- 24:44Speaker 2: This is Borgonzi, not postgame. This is after they cut
- 24:47Speaker 2: the roster down to 53.
- 24:50Speaker 6: Being competitive is just going out there and playing to
- 24:54Speaker 6: your style and competing. Obviously, you need the physical talent
- 24:59Speaker 6: to compete in this league. You need the physical traits.
- 25:04Speaker 6: I think we have the guys here to compete, and
- 25:06Speaker 6: I think we'll get better throughout the season. Probably a
- 25:09Speaker 6: better question towards the end of the season of how
- 25:10Speaker 6: we did, but it's a little bit unexpected.
- 25:15Speaker 4: You don't know.
- 25:16Speaker 6: We have confidence right now that these guys are going.
- 25:17Speaker 2: To go out there and compete for them to win.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I mean, unexpected. You don't know how these guys are
- 25:23Speaker 2: going to play.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Despite them going after the champs in Seattle to joint
- 25:28Speaker 1: practice and Jeffrey Simmons saying, you know, we took belt
- 25:32Speaker 1: to ass. We kicked their ass over the defensive end,
- 25:36Speaker 1: defensive side of the football. And they, by all accounts, did.
- 25:39Speaker 1: But it can't just be one guy. Simmons, I'm all,
- 25:44Speaker 1: Jeffrey Simmons is doing everything he possibly can to do
- 25:47Speaker 1: something in regards to getting this team to take a
- 25:50Speaker 1: step forward. They're not going to match his level.
- 25:53Speaker 2: He's elite.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Well, let me also say that it's awfully convenient that
- 25:57Speaker 3: they took Belta ass in a practice in August where
- 26:03Speaker 3: no cameras were around and it wasn't filmed. and no
- 26:07Speaker 3: one saw it, and suddenly they're coming out of there
- 26:09Speaker 3: talking all this trash. But yet when the network cameras
- 26:11Speaker 3: are focused on them in an actual meaningful football game,
- 26:15Speaker 3: they show very little effort.
- 26:17Speaker 1: That's where I'm going with this because here's Simmons now
- 26:19Speaker 1: post-game after week one where everybody's to blame.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Except for Hill.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Here is Jeffrey Simmons who's, I think, realizing, man, this
- 26:30Speaker 1: is going to be another long season.
- 26:32Speaker 7: I'll just share this without going too much in detail.
- 26:35Speaker 7: You have to demand. When you speak, when you say something,
- 26:39Speaker 7: I don't give a damn. If it's me, if it's
- 26:41Speaker 7: in front of the whole team, it's just the offense.
- 26:43Speaker 1: That's the one we're going to get to in just
- 26:45Speaker 1: a moment. Rotating up front. He's going to speak on this.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Rotation up front. They're getting guys in and out all
- 26:51Speaker 1: the time.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Here's Simmons.
- 26:53Speaker 7: When you say something, I don't give a damn. If
- 26:55Speaker 7: it's me, if it's in front of the whole team,
- 26:57Speaker 7: it's just the offense.
- 26:59Speaker 4: I'm trusting this process.
- 27:01Speaker 7: Our coach has a reason the way he wants to
- 27:04Speaker 7: rotate and The way he rotated it, I'm totally fine
- 27:06Speaker 7: with it. We'll see how it goes next week. This
- 27:10Speaker 7: is the first game of the season.
- 27:11Speaker 4: All the panic and no one in this locker room
- 27:16Speaker 4: is going to panic. I'll say that. The guys inside,
- 27:18Speaker 4: we can block out all the outside noise. We won't panic.
- 27:20Speaker 4: We'll be ready to work. We'll get back to work
- 27:22Speaker 4: and be ready for next week.
- 27:23Speaker 2: By the way, there's no telling what Sark would do
- 27:27Speaker 2: to us right now.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Chad.
- 27:28Speaker 1: They're not going to panic. The teammates aren't giving effort.
- 27:34Speaker 1: They're not buying in. They're not buying into the message
- 27:36Speaker 1: of the offseason. Here's Kevin Dyson, who's on the sideline
- 27:39Speaker 1: for Titans Radio and flagship WGFX. Here's what he said
- 27:43Speaker 1: after the game. We've got the quote, I believe. Yes,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm sideline reporting and I see the offensive line. There
- 27:50Speaker 1: was a point in there where I can see guys
- 27:52Speaker 1: really trying to amp guys up. I would see Latham.
- 27:54Speaker 1: He was like, let's go, let's go. And then he
- 27:57Speaker 1: just seemed to kind of fizzle. It was almost like
- 27:59Speaker 1: the energy level just decimated. It was just decimated. It
- 28:03Speaker 1: was like they just went to the sidelines, sat on
- 28:05Speaker 1: the cool bench. It was like, when's our turn again?
- 28:08Speaker 2: Just low energy.
- 28:10Speaker 1: There was a point in there where Cam was like,
- 28:13Speaker 1: he's cussing here. I'm tired of this.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Three and outs. We got to do something. Starts with me,
- 28:17Speaker 2: but you got to do this. He really tried.
- 28:20Speaker 1: And it's just like everybody's just kind of looked at
- 28:22Speaker 1: him and said, okay, this is week one against the Jets.
- 28:26Speaker 1: After all gas, no break. This isn't Brian Callahan coaching.
- 28:30Speaker 1: It's Robert Sala. This is the opposite. It's the closest
- 28:33Speaker 1: thing you can get to Vrabel. But yet, you've got
- 28:37Speaker 1: Cam Ward going over there doing that. But Chad, very
- 28:41Speaker 1: starting training camp. Here's Jeffrey Simmons. He recorded this after
- 28:45Speaker 1: a practice with the Pivot podcast. Telling the guys there
- 28:50Speaker 1: that that day is when he went to Cam Ward
- 28:54Speaker 1: in a weight room and said, it's time for you.
- 28:57Speaker 2: To take over the team.
- 28:58Speaker 7: I just shared this without going too much in detail.
- 29:01Speaker 7: You have to demand. When you speak, when you say something,
- 29:05Speaker 7: I don't give a damn. If it's me, if it's
- 29:07Speaker 7: in front of the whole team, if it's just the offense,
- 29:09Speaker 7: everybody listening. I said, when you see guys like the Mahomes,
- 29:14Speaker 7: the Tom Brady's, it's a reason why It's team success. Yes,
- 29:19Speaker 7: Tom Brady, we can say the best quarterback that's ever
- 29:22Speaker 7: played a game. But when you think about these teams
- 29:24Speaker 7: that have all these success, I mean, we can say
- 29:27Speaker 7: Jeff Simmons, you've been here eight years, you're the face. No,
- 29:29Speaker 7: I told Cam today, this is your team. Like, when
- 29:32Speaker 7: you talk and you demand something on that field, off
- 29:35Speaker 7: the field, we listen. And that's that's the bigger thing
- 29:38Speaker 7: and I could tell that he won't he want to
- 29:41Speaker 7: know that he want to grow he want to continue
- 29:43Speaker 7: to grow and I'm I'm excited for and I told
- 29:45Speaker 7: him I mean we're gonna talk smack we're gonna maybe
- 29:48Speaker 7: get to fighting that practice pushing sure but we're in
- 29:51Speaker 7: this thing together I'm trying to win on Sunday and
- 29:53Speaker 7: it's my job especially as an older guy to continue
- 29:56Speaker 7: to help him develop on that side of his game
- 29:59Speaker 7: and The football stuff is going to take care of itself.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Chad, here's my point here on this.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I'm not pointing at Simmons at all, Salah, anybody else.
- 30:11Speaker 1: But Cam Ward's got to be able to take control
- 30:13Speaker 1: of that team. That's the biggest issue they have right
- 30:16Speaker 1: now is that he's not playing well. And once he does,
- 30:20Speaker 1: the team will gravitate towards the quarterback that's helping them win.
- 30:24Speaker 1: But my other issue, and I think this is an
- 30:26Speaker 1: underlying issue that's gone back a couple years now, They
- 30:30Speaker 1: have turned over this roster several times. They've certainly fired
- 30:33Speaker 1: general managers and coaches. But it's not on Jeffrey Simmons
- 30:36Speaker 1: to have to go to every individual player and either
- 30:38Speaker 1: fight them or fire them up to get them ready
- 30:41Speaker 1: for game day.
- 30:42Speaker 2: He's done that with J.C.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Latham.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And J.C.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Latham has bought in at least to this story here
- 30:46Speaker 1: and what we hear him say. And then there's Cam Ward,
- 30:49Speaker 1: who is always... He's tried to fight Jeffrey Simmons last
- 30:52Speaker 1: year as a rookie. Is he supposed to go to
- 30:54Speaker 1: 51 other players and do the same?
- 30:58Speaker 6: This is.
- 30:59Speaker 1: This is more than just the embarrassment in week one.
- 31:02Speaker 1: This was the opportunity to really turn things over in
- 31:04Speaker 1: the result. Effort and the mentality of... How does he
- 31:08Speaker 1: describe this, Chad? He describes solid, energy, speed, violence.
- 31:12Speaker 2: That is not.
- 31:14Speaker 1: That's not something that requires knowing the play call. And
- 31:19Speaker 1: I didn't see any of that on Sunday. And that's
- 31:23Speaker 1: week one. We're not talking about when they're eliminated for
- 31:24Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 31:26Speaker 2: This is a huge issue.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And the overreaction can be whatever.
- 31:32Speaker 1: The result of what we saw is alarming, given the
- 31:34Speaker 1: fact that you scored 10 points, and it really should
- 31:37Speaker 1: have been three, and you barely showed up to the game.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Before the route was on.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It was, you know, the, what was it, 11-play drive,
- 31:46Speaker 1: 12-play drive to score for the Jets?
- 31:50Speaker 2: That's all they needed. They needed one touchdown to beat them.
- 31:52Speaker 2: If not for the garbage-type touchdown. It was pathetic. Totally pathetic.
- 31:57Speaker 3: When Aaron Rodgers had his R-E-L-A-X, relax rant with the Packers,
- 32:03Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers at that point in his career had won
- 32:04Speaker 3: a Super Bowl. They had won a ton of games
- 32:06Speaker 3: with the Packers. So when you're talking.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Week one or early in the season and just relax,
- 32:11Speaker 1: when you're giving that lesson to the media, I buy
- 32:14Speaker 1: it from Aaron Rodgers, who's got some clout and had
- 32:17Speaker 1: some success and had seen playoff success in the league
- 32:19Speaker 1: and had gone through it before. I think everybody on.
- 32:23Speaker 3: That team and in that coaching staff needs to understand
- 32:26Speaker 3: this is not just week one.
- 32:29Speaker 2: That's right.
- 32:30Speaker 3: This is a three-, four-year process. Let me give you
- 32:33Speaker 3: the stats. The worst record in the NFL over the
- 32:36Speaker 3: last 57 games since John Robinson was fired, it's not
- 32:40Speaker 3: the Cardinals, it's not the Jets, it's not the Giants.
- 32:44Speaker 3: It's the Tennessee Titans, who are 12-45. The Giants and
- 32:49Speaker 3: Cardinals are tied at 16-41, then the Jets. Worst record
- 32:53Speaker 3: in the NFL the last 35 games since Vrabel was fired.
- 32:57Speaker 3: So 22 games after John Robinson. The Titans are 6-29.
- 33:01Speaker 3: The Browns, the Raiders, all better than the Titans. People
- 33:06Speaker 3: can get pissed all they want at numbers.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Numbers don't lie. These are facts.
- 33:10Speaker 3: If these numbers and these stats offend you, I don't care.
- 33:14Speaker 3: These are the numbers and facts. If you want to
- 33:16Speaker 3: go back and say... 57 games ago, that John Robinson
- 33:21Speaker 3: is the curator of all evil for the Titans, and
- 33:25Speaker 3: that they are still feeling the after effects of his
- 33:27Speaker 3: bad first-round draft picks, and that he is the one
- 33:29Speaker 3: who set them back. You are chasing a boogeyman that
- 33:32Speaker 3: does not exist.
- 33:34Speaker 1: The bottom line is that John Robinson, they had success
- 33:37Speaker 1: with the Titans when he was making picks, when he
- 33:39Speaker 1: was signing free agents. The point also is Mike Vrabel,
- 33:42Speaker 1: when he was the head coach, they had success. They
- 33:44Speaker 1: had identity.
- 33:45Speaker 3: We weren't questioning effort by sideline reporters watching the offensive line.
- 33:49Speaker 3: The last I checked when Mike Frable was there. You
- 33:52Speaker 3: knew that team was going to go hard. You knew
- 33:54Speaker 3: that team had a certain standard of expectation of how
- 33:57Speaker 3: they were going to play and how hard. It wasn't
- 33:59Speaker 3: always successful. He wasn't always great. No one in the
- 34:02Speaker 3: NFL is. That's the understanding of the league from people
- 34:06Speaker 3: who know the league. But I do not want to
- 34:08Speaker 3: hear from Jeffrey Simmons, who I respect, or Robert Sala
- 34:12Speaker 3: or anyone else saying, guys– It's week one. Look around
- 34:15Speaker 3: the league. I'm listening to the Robert Sala coaches show
- 34:17Speaker 3: last night. And boy, you know, I'm not trying to
- 34:19Speaker 3: throw shade, but the Colts got off to a great
- 34:22Speaker 3: start last year. Look how that ended for them. And
- 34:24Speaker 3: we saw New England lose to the Raiders in week one.
- 34:28Speaker 3: And they ended up in the Super Bowl. I do
- 34:30Speaker 3: not want to hear that. You get 17 opportunities. This
- 34:33Speaker 3: is not Major League Baseball. It's not 162 game season.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I don't want to hear about it. It's just week one, guys.
- 34:39Speaker 3: We'll get back in the film study. We'll get back
- 34:40Speaker 3: to practice. We'll be fine next week. No one wants
- 34:43Speaker 3: to hear that because it's not reality with this team.
- 34:46Speaker 3: If it was a team that had success and won
- 34:48Speaker 3: games before, I'd be like, okay, yeah, they're right. Week
- 34:51Speaker 3: one can be a liar, and it's just week one,
- 34:53Speaker 3: and it was a bad performance. That's not the case
- 34:55Speaker 3: with the Tennessee Titans.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Chad, you're absolutely right. They are 2-10, by the way,
- 34:58Speaker 1: over the last three years in the month of September.
- 35:00Speaker 4: 2-10.
- 35:00Speaker 2: 0-4 last year. 0-1 this year.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And I don't want to hear the excuse of, oh,
- 35:08Speaker 1: these are last year's players. They have cleaned out that
- 35:11Speaker 1: locker room and brought in former players of Dable and
- 35:13Speaker 1: Sala to be around the young nucleus of the team.
- 35:21Speaker 1: It's also on them this year. So the overreaction, I mean,
- 35:27Speaker 1: I hear, again, I like Robert Sala. I really like
- 35:30Speaker 1: the coaching staff. But when you say you're not going
- 35:33Speaker 1: to coddle anybody, I don't know what it's like. I
- 35:35Speaker 1: don't know if he's peeling the paint off the wall
- 35:37Speaker 1: behind the closed doors.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Maybe he is. But the fans are just done with this.
- 35:44Speaker 2: The media is done with this.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It's just week one. It has been week one over
- 35:50Speaker 1: the last four and a half years. And it's been 0-1.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Week one, 0-1. Because they win in December if they
- 35:58Speaker 1: win at all. And then they chalk it up to, man,
- 36:01Speaker 1: we've got some momentum. We're going in. Wins matter this time.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Wins don't matter that time of year. It just prevents
- 36:07Speaker 1: you from having the number one pick. The Titans have
- 36:09Speaker 1: proven this. I just think we saw this coming. You know,
- 36:13Speaker 1: the whole, like, this is our floor. I mean, keep
- 36:15Speaker 1: in mind, elevators go down into the basement further. You
- 36:19Speaker 1: can have a parking garage down there. And the Jets
- 36:21Speaker 1: at least took the floor lobby. The Titans didn't do that.
- 36:25Speaker 1: It weren't even competitive. It's not even a final kick,
- 36:29Speaker 1: you know, crazy game. This was just clean out the stadium.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Get out of town. I don't know why you would
- 36:37Speaker 1: go and sit in the heat to watch this team.
- 36:40Speaker 1: It's just poor. It's apathy, and it's just, I'm over it.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It's the expectation now, regardless of regime.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And that's pathetic.
- 36:50Speaker 3: It is pathetic, and I talked to a couple last
- 36:53Speaker 3: night at a softball game who said, boy, I'm really
- 36:56Speaker 3: glad we went to that Titans game yesterday. Got out
- 36:58Speaker 3: there in 100-degree heat, went and got one light beer.
- 37:01Speaker 3: It was $ 17 for the large beer that we got.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Went and sat in our seats and watched a terrible effort.
- 37:07Speaker 3: And I got to be honest, I'm usually one that's like, hey,
- 37:10Speaker 3: if you're a fan, you're a fan all the way.
- 37:12Speaker 3: You got to show up to the games if you
- 37:13Speaker 3: have tickets. Don't let the opposing fan base take over
- 37:16Speaker 3: your stadium. I've got to be honest with Titans fans
- 37:19Speaker 3: right now. I would never go to a Titans game
- 37:21Speaker 3: unless it was perfect fall weather, I had a great
- 37:23Speaker 3: tailgate to go to, and I was interested in the opponent.
- 37:26Speaker 3: There's nothing about this team or this organization that makes
- 37:29Speaker 3: me want to go sit in that stadium and watch
- 37:31Speaker 3: them play. Certainly not when it's 98 degrees on any
- 37:35Speaker 3: game or if it's raining or if it's freezing cold.
- 37:37Speaker 3: It's just not going to happen right now, and maybe
- 37:39Speaker 3: that makes someone a bad supporter of the team or
- 37:42Speaker 3: a bad fan. I would say the organization has to
- 37:44Speaker 3: do something to earn it and deserve it, and they're
- 37:47Speaker 3: simply not right now. And no fan of the Titans
- 37:49Speaker 3: wants to hear how it's just week one and everything's
- 37:52Speaker 3: going to be.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Fine next week. They don't. You can't erase that. It's
- 37:56Speaker 1: one of 17.
- 37:57Speaker 3: You only get so many opportunities. You work year-round to
- 38:00Speaker 3: get to these 17 games and to leave the first
- 38:04Speaker 3: game and be like, guys, guys, lay off the offensive
- 38:07Speaker 3: line and their effort or the defensive line not getting
- 38:10Speaker 3: the quarterback.
- 38:10Speaker 1: It's just week one. Give me a break.
- 38:13Speaker 2: The standard is not there. And they're saying, here comes
- 38:18Speaker 2: week two.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Just by Dyson's observation of Cam trying to fire it up,
- 38:25Speaker 1: and they're just looking at it like, okay. Just that alone, Chad,
- 38:28Speaker 1: in week one, tells me he's got to do something
- 38:30Speaker 1: this week, or there's another checkout coming. Because the team
- 38:34Speaker 1: has kind of been on to December for a while.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Even marketing, hey, it's the last year of Nissan Stadium.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Instead of marketing the the young nucleus of the team.
- 38:44Speaker 1: That's bizarre. It tells you where their head's at, top
- 38:48Speaker 1: to bottom of the organization right now.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Chad, plenty to get to.
- 38:54Speaker 1: There's another side of this story where we discussed Cam
- 38:58Speaker 1: Ward yesterday, and you've pissed off Titans.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Fans, apparently.
- 39:02Speaker 4: Yes, I did.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Yes, I did.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I made the mistake of questioning the intelligence of the scholar,
- 39:07Speaker 3: Cam Ward, and we'll discuss.
- 39:09Speaker 1: That's straight ahead here on Hot to Withdrawal. There are
- 39:12Speaker 1: very few perfect tens out there.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Ten of ten.
- 39:16Speaker 1: We've got one for you. Perfect Ten Mortgage. The name
- 39:18Speaker 1: says it. Apply in ten minutes. Close in ten days.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That's the whole idea here. A mortgage that's simple, fast,
- 39:22Speaker 1: and fair. Ten minutes start to finish right from your phone.
- 39:25Speaker 1: There's no stack of paperwork. There's no sitting across the
- 39:27Speaker 1: desk Chad, from a banker who's talking down to you.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Date the rate, marry the house. Throw it up on
- 39:33Speaker 3: a t-shirt. However you need to remember it, remember it.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Get the house you want now. Refinance and rates come down.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Stop juggling credit card debt. Get your finances in order
- 39:41Speaker 3: by refinancing with Perfect 10 Mortgage. And if you're buying
- 39:44Speaker 3: new construction, Ask about the builder program, builder-funded rate buy-downs
- 39:48Speaker 3: that can get you a rate the bank can't even print.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Date the rate, marry the house, get the house you
- 39:53Speaker 3: want right now. Straight talk on what you actually qualify
- 39:55Speaker 3: for with Perfect 10 Mortgage, perfect10mortgage. com, or call them 855-789-1010.
- 40:02Speaker 3: That's perfect10mortgage. com. Perfect 10 Mortgage is an equal housing lender.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Perfect 10 Mortgage is a DBA or network funding LP.
- 40:08Speaker 3: NMLS number 2297. Equal housing lender. All borrowers must qualify.
- 40:12Speaker 3: This advertisement is not a promise to make a loan.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Loaner.
- 40:16Speaker 2: UMass.
- 40:17Speaker 7: UMass.
- 40:18Speaker 4: UMass.
- 40:19Speaker 1: We've got a big game against UMass this week. So,
- 40:24Speaker 1: you know, there's this, I've heard I haven't received anything yet.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Maybe that's to come. Maybe, Chad, who knows?
- 40:30Speaker 2: Maybe you'll be banned from the Titans press corps. Who knows?
- 40:33Speaker 1: Hey, I hope Kevin Dyson's invited back after what he
- 40:36Speaker 1: said he saw on the sideline to do sideline reporting.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I doubt it. This follows the order of Stillman. Stillman
- 40:44Speaker 1: says he was getting something in his DMs from some
- 40:46Speaker 1: burner account, he felt like. Here we are with you.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Set this up. What have you received?
- 40:55Speaker 3: Yesterday, I questioned how smart Cam Ward is. I said,
- 40:58Speaker 3: I'm beginning to think he's just not very smart. This
- 41:01Speaker 3: is a combination of issues, okay? This is in-game decision-making.
- 41:05Speaker 1: This is pocket awareness.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Different types of intelligence and smarts we're talking about here, right?
- 41:09Speaker 3: That's right. There's a lot of poor decisions throughout the game.
- 41:14Speaker 3: There's also a lot of poor decisions with the media.
- 41:16Speaker 3: I think he handled Jarrett Stillman poorly for a guy
- 41:19Speaker 3: who hasn't done anything in the NFL yet. I think
- 41:21Speaker 3: he handled that interaction very poorly. I think when you're
- 41:24Speaker 3: asked about your own accuracy issues and you've had the
- 41:28Speaker 3: lack of success he has— And this is what I
- 41:30Speaker 3: was responding to. And your response is, hey, tell us about,
- 41:34Speaker 3: you know, you missed some easy throws, some screen pass.
- 41:37Speaker 3: And he's talking about his receivers need to flatten their
- 41:39Speaker 3: routes out more. And we need to talk about more sharp,
- 41:42Speaker 3: precision routes from the receivers. I think that's the sign
- 41:45Speaker 3: of someone who's not very smart. I watched the quarterback series.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I got the sense at times he doesn't handle himself well.
- 41:52Speaker 3: in a very smart way. And I knew the moment
- 41:55Speaker 3: I said it, because it doesn't need to be said,
- 41:58Speaker 3: but I'm not a racist. I called things like I
- 42:01Speaker 3: see them, regardless of race, much like I said Will
- 42:04Speaker 3: Levis was dumb throughout the draft process, was dumb as
- 42:08Speaker 3: a player.
- 42:09Speaker 1: For the Tennessee Titans.
- 42:10Speaker 3: No one called me racist when I said that about
- 42:13Speaker 3: Will Levis. Titans fans yelled at me and talked about
- 42:15Speaker 3: how doing the Mayo commercial was the smartest thing he
- 42:18Speaker 3: ever did for his career and how they loved it.
- 42:20Speaker 3: But no one called me a racist when I said that.
- 42:23Speaker 1: And neither is Rod Davenport, who asked the question about
- 42:27Speaker 1: the receivers and Cam.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Correct.
- 42:29Speaker 2: He got that answer. That's on Cam.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's totally on Cam. I'm getting some of the
- 42:34Speaker 3: racism stuff.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Not a lot.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Cortland Finnegan took exception to it. And I like Cortland.
- 42:38Speaker 3: He said, look, keep it on the field. Don't question.
- 42:41Speaker 3: It's kind of like the thing about don't question effort.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Don't question this. Here is what I would say to
- 42:46Speaker 3: any of that. Question anything you want.
- 42:49Speaker 1: This is a.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Profession that is highly pressured. You are paid a lot
- 42:55Speaker 3: of money, especially as a quarterback. You are paid a
- 42:57Speaker 3: ton of money to be the guy in every aspect.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Of the organization.
- 43:03Speaker 3: It is not just some banker's hours job where it's like,
- 43:06Speaker 3: we can't question anything about this.
- 43:08Speaker 1: We can't do that.
- 43:09Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Everything can be questioned, especially when it comes to the quarterback,
- 43:13Speaker 3: especially intelligence, which, by the way, is a huge factor
- 43:17Speaker 3: in success.
- 43:18Speaker 2: For quarterbacks, okay?
- 43:19Speaker 1: They do the Wunderlich test for years. They do all
- 43:22Speaker 1: these different things.
- 43:22Speaker 3: They're going to interview you to get a sense of
- 43:25Speaker 3: how you interact with people and can interact with the media.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Does it matter for every safety in the NFL or
- 43:31Speaker 3: the edge rusher?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Not as much. Does it matter for a quarterback? Absolutely.
- 43:36Speaker 3: It's why I called out Will Levis and his intelligence.
- 43:39Speaker 3: It's why I'm calling out Cam Ward and questioning just
- 43:41Speaker 3: how smart he is. But, Hutton, we've got one Titans
- 43:44Speaker 3: fan or friend of Cam Ward who took serious exception
- 43:47Speaker 3: to it, which is why I want to reinstitute hate
- 43:51Speaker 3: mail with Hutton, except this time it's going to be
- 43:53Speaker 3: hate mail for me and not for Clay Travis.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Calling Cam Ward stupid is just simply foul and low.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Keep about mechanics and his actual performance and saying he's
- 44:05Speaker 1: a bad quarterback when he's played behind one of the
- 44:07Speaker 1: worst offensive lines his entire career. So Also something you
- 44:11Speaker 1: should factor in when you're talking about a young quarterback.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I DM'd you this because I wasn't going to call
- 44:16Speaker 1: you an asshole in an Instagram comment section.
- 44:19Speaker 2: But how about you show some class?
- 44:21Speaker 1: Chad, act like an adult and uplift a young player
- 44:26Speaker 1: instead of kicking him while he's down. And not everything
- 44:31Speaker 1: on that offensive line... is his fault. Not everything on
- 44:38Speaker 1: that offense is his fault. Honestly, he's the least of
- 44:41Speaker 1: their problems. So how about act your age and apologize?
- 44:46Speaker 1: You're effing pushing 50 for crying out loud.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Wow.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I take offense to the pushing 50 line because I'm
- 44:55Speaker 3: 44 years old.
- 44:56Speaker 1: This sounds like the local media in some cases. I know.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Let me address multiple points of his argument here. Beautiful job, Hutton.
- 45:04Speaker 3: I messed it up on the offense. As you read
- 45:07Speaker 3: the hate mail. We're getting back. It was hard to
- 45:09Speaker 3: read that, too, because he didn't have any punctuation. To
- 45:12Speaker 3: the person who has, take exception to this.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I'm stupid.
- 45:15Speaker 3: I'll go ahead and say it first. Well, I'll be
- 45:17Speaker 3: the first to say, I'm not pushing 50. I'm 44.
- 45:20Speaker 3: And judging by your lack of punctuation, you must have
- 45:23Speaker 3: grown up in an era where they didn't teach punctuation
- 45:25Speaker 3: in school, and they certainly didn't teach math either, because
- 45:28Speaker 3: 44 is closer to 40 than 50. Try me back
- 45:32Speaker 3: in three years, and if you want to say I'm
- 45:33Speaker 3: pushing 50 at 47, that's fine. I'm closer to 50
- 45:37Speaker 3: than 40 at that point. Right now, at least for
- 45:39Speaker 3: a few more months, I'm closer to 40 than 50.
- 45:43Speaker 3: And also, use punctuation, kids. If you're going to send
- 45:46Speaker 3: a message to someone, make it easy by using periods,
- 45:49Speaker 3: by using exclamation points, by using a question mark. Whatever
- 45:52Speaker 3: you want to do, use that at any point.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Can we break this down briefly? Can we break down
- 45:57Speaker 2: the message briefly?
- 45:58Speaker 4: Sure.
- 45:58Speaker 1: So I'm trying to figure out the age range of
- 46:02Speaker 1: this person. And I'm going to say they're closer to
- 46:04Speaker 1: our age probably than anything because... of the last three
- 46:08Speaker 1: words of this, for crying out loud, the crying out
- 46:11Speaker 1: loud part, he would use an F word right there
- 46:15Speaker 1: for F's sake because he used it earlier in the sentence, right?
- 46:21Speaker 1: I'll say this.
- 46:21Speaker 3: This person could be catfishing people, but according to their profile,
- 46:25Speaker 3: they're 18 years old.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that can't be true. 18 years old would use
- 46:31Speaker 1: some different words. Using your would be spelled U-R.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Right?
- 46:40Speaker 1: They wouldn't say Cam Ward. It would just be Cam.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Calling Cam stupid if he's 18. An 18-year-old would have
- 46:50Speaker 1: actually posted it in the reply section, the comment section,
- 46:52Speaker 1: not in your DMs.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I would also argue that.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm surprised that he was totally okay with sending
- 46:59Speaker 3: me a DM like that, but I'm not going to
- 47:01Speaker 3: put it in the comments because I don't want people
- 47:03Speaker 3: to see it.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I think an 18-year-old would go ahead and post that.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Yeah, my response was, well, I appreciate it because you
- 47:07Speaker 3: just provided us with a segment on the show by
- 47:09Speaker 3: sending this in message, so thank you so much.
- 47:12Speaker 1: So it's not intelligence that makes him overthrow Wandel Robinson
- 47:17Speaker 1: by a foot. You need Robinson to be 6'4 to
- 47:20Speaker 1: get a screen pass. The idea, though, that he... Backups
- 47:30Speaker 1: know how to do this. Rusty Smith knew how to
- 47:34Speaker 1: do this. You stand at a podium and you take fault.
- 47:37Speaker 1: And when things go well, you give praise to anyone
- 47:40Speaker 1: else on that roster. That's just part of it. You're
- 47:43Speaker 1: at the podium postgame, not at your locker. That's how
- 47:46Speaker 1: you win respect. It's also like there's different types of smart.
- 47:49Speaker 3: I made the dumb assumption, assuming that Most people would
- 47:54Speaker 3: understand where I'm coming from, what I'm saying.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm not saying he can't do long division.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I'm not saying he can't go read a great American
- 48:00Speaker 3: novel or do any of that. I'm saying, Hutton, you
- 48:04Speaker 3: appear to be really dumb when you answer a question about.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Your accuracy after you got your ass kicked.
- 48:10Speaker 3: In the first game of year two, not year one,
- 48:12Speaker 3: by saying receivers need to flatten your route.
- 48:14Speaker 1: You look like a moron.
- 48:16Speaker 3: And I'm not apologizing for anything I'm saying right now
- 48:18Speaker 3: to Cortland Finnegan or anybody else with the Titans. You
- 48:21Speaker 3: look like a moron when you wear a shirt saying
- 48:23Speaker 3: seed after you refuse to throw a single seed in
- 48:28Speaker 3: your debut game. and you're skipping rocks to a receiver
- 48:31Speaker 3: that's seven yards away from you on a screen pass.
- 48:34Speaker 3: You look dumb when you do those things. Am I
- 48:36Speaker 3: being clear enough on the different levels of stupidity I'm.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Talking about here?
- 48:41Speaker 3: I hope I'm communicating myself in a clear fashion to
- 48:44Speaker 3: anyone that's watching this to understand there's different levels of dumb.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I'm not saying that Cam Ward is incapable of doing
- 48:54Speaker 3: smart things. Or doing things intelligently. I'm saying I'm starting
- 48:58Speaker 3: to question if he's smart or not. When he does
- 49:01Speaker 3: things like wears a shirt that says seed on it
- 49:04Speaker 3: and then answers that question with that. I think you
- 49:06Speaker 3: look dumb when you respond to a simple question about
- 49:09Speaker 3: how would you evaluate your own preseason performance. That was
- 49:12Speaker 3: bad by then questioning the reporter who asked the question.
- 49:15Speaker 3: He's not earned that yet. He's not earned it.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Okay?
- 49:19Speaker 3: He's not owed anything. This has got to be an
- 49:22Speaker 3: organization that is starving. And instead, I feel like it's
- 49:25Speaker 3: an organization that's like, guys, it's week one. Come on,
- 49:28Speaker 3: we're all pros here. We know what it's like in
- 49:30Speaker 3: the NFL. It's week one.
- 49:33Speaker 1: They have gone from, if they're hungry, we're starving. That
- 49:36Speaker 1: was Seattle preseason week. And they've gone from that to,
- 49:40Speaker 1: it's week one, guys. That's the reaction. There was a
- 49:45Speaker 1: messaging change in Salah's postgame of the preseason, which I
- 49:49Speaker 1: brought up on the show. And everybody has echoed that
- 49:51Speaker 1: down now to where it's just week one. Week one's
- 49:54Speaker 1: a liar. Not with this team. Not with this team.
- 49:58Speaker 1: This team does this. And it's not the past regimes.
- 50:02Speaker 1: And I'm not even talking, it's not even Brian Callahan.
- 50:05Speaker 1: This is on the Titans. This is on the identity
- 50:08Speaker 1: or lack thereof. Cam Ward's got to earn the right
- 50:13Speaker 1: to be the leader of the team and speak. But
- 50:15Speaker 1: to do that, no different than the coach. Vrabel did
- 50:18Speaker 1: this all the time, and it's not always about Vrabel.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Rossini probably reported what I'm saying. She definitely had the scoop,
- 50:26Speaker 1: no doubt.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt. She said it two weeks earlier probably.
- 50:29Speaker 1: But Chad, Vrabel always said if they won the game,
- 50:33Speaker 1: he would always say, players did a great job executing
- 50:35Speaker 1: game plan today. It was all about the players. And
- 50:38Speaker 1: then if they lost, it was just, we've got to
- 50:40Speaker 1: coach them better. We have to be better coaches. We've
- 50:42Speaker 1: got to come up with a better plan. That's just
- 50:44Speaker 1: part of the job. Players want that. They don't want
- 50:48Speaker 1: the extra call-out, especially if you're banning media members over
- 50:54Speaker 1: such a soft question. And I'm not calling out Stillman
- 50:57Speaker 1: for the soft question. That's not a ban question. Please
- 51:01Speaker 1: assess your preseason. What?
- 51:03Speaker 2: That's insulting? It's so tough to answer. How do you
- 51:09Speaker 2: think it was?
- 51:09Speaker 1: And Stillman answered the question. I guess the media now just, oh,
- 51:14Speaker 1: we're all going to be banned? Well, speaking of Stillman,
- 51:17Speaker 1: by the way, I'm being serious.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Like, Kevin Dyson saying that in that quote that we showed,
- 51:22Speaker 3: probably someone calling him into an office or giving him
- 51:24Speaker 3: a call telling him to lighten up on what he's
- 51:26Speaker 3: reporting from the energy of the offensive line. Ramon Foster
- 51:31Speaker 3: I saw yesterday. Jared Stillman had the quote tweet of
- 51:33Speaker 3: what he said, I guess, on the morning show where
- 51:36Speaker 3: he called out, you know, the lack of adjustments from
- 51:40Speaker 3: Robert Sala and, like, what are we doing here? And
- 51:43Speaker 3: I'm thinking to myself, Hutton– someone is going to criticize
- 51:46Speaker 3: him within that organization or have a conversation with him
- 51:49Speaker 3: about spinning it a different way.
- 51:52Speaker 1: And here's what I want from the organization. Someone to
- 51:54Speaker 1: have the balls to say, you're right. You know what?
- 51:58Speaker 3: The criticism is warranted. We got to be better and
- 52:01Speaker 3: we're going to get better. And I'm not going to
- 52:03Speaker 3: sit here and complain about it. What they're saying isn't wrong.
- 52:06Speaker 3: We got to be a lot better with that. Instead,
- 52:08Speaker 3: you get a lot of people behind the scenes in
- 52:10Speaker 3: the shadows trying to end people's jobs.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Or cut out their credentials. Chad, I want to be
- 52:15Speaker 1: clear with this, too. I traveled with the team. I
- 52:17Speaker 1: was a part of Titans Radio for 16 seasons. I
- 52:20Speaker 1: was in the booth traveling road game. And then I
- 52:23Speaker 1: came and did Midday 180.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Not one time. Not one time.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Did they ever question anything I've said or set up
- 52:30Speaker 1: Paul or you or anything we did on the show?
- 52:33Speaker 2: Not one time.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Never.
- 52:35Speaker 1: And now it's gotten to this, where everyone's walking on eggshells,
- 52:39Speaker 1: afraid to disrespect. It's not disrespect. Cortland would know this.
- 52:47Speaker 1: If it's honest, if it's an honest evaluation, that's what
- 52:50Speaker 1: players want.
- 52:51Speaker 2: They want it to.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Be honest and fair. If it's a fair criticism, great.
- 52:55Speaker 1: But whenever things go well, be willing to say that
- 52:57Speaker 1: as well. Give the praise and be able to take
- 53:00Speaker 1: the criticism. This is from the top down. This is
- 53:06Speaker 1: where they are. And when you lose to the Jets,
- 53:08Speaker 1: you've got no other option but just to take it.
- 53:10Speaker 1: There's no other team beneath you to point to. Hey,
- 53:12Speaker 1: we're better than so-and-so. We're better than this.
- 53:14Speaker 2: We're better than that. There's no other team to point
- 53:16Speaker 2: to now. You are the bottom. That's it.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Well said, and I think a good distinction you made there, Hutton,
- 53:23Speaker 3: about our time working with the Titans, or your time
- 53:26Speaker 3: working with the Titans directly, but also me on the
- 53:28Speaker 3: same show with you. There were conversations at times about
- 53:32Speaker 3: something I was talking about or clarification on something behind
- 53:34Speaker 3: the scenes, but.
- 53:36Speaker 1: There were never threats. We got threatened by the Nashville Predators.
- 53:40Speaker 3: I never got threatened by the Tennessee Titans on anything
- 53:43Speaker 3: in my time there.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Vanderbilt and the Preds.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Got threatened by the Predators by taking something off a
- 53:50Speaker 3: different show that I was then threatened by my bosses
- 53:53Speaker 3: about after the fact because of that.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 2: I mean, just.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Everybody having to sing praise and then having to start
- 54:03Speaker 1: a show yesterday, not us, but just locally, but say,
- 54:07Speaker 1: for those of us that don't think we're going to
- 54:08Speaker 1: be critical, we're not going to say this was good.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Of course it wasn't. And it's this clarification stuff. Like,
- 54:15Speaker 2: everybody's got to be just.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Nothing has to be approved. The Titans aren't seeking... They're
- 54:22Speaker 1: not seeking approval. They're just trying to make you not
- 54:25Speaker 1: give your disdain for the team and the franchise. They
- 54:27Speaker 1: can't wait to tear that building down. Can you just
- 54:30Speaker 1: cancel the season? Get on to Week 18.
- 54:33Speaker 2: It's Hunter Withrow. We are presented by Sporting State.
