- 0:00Dave Hamilton: Business Brain, episode 795 for Casual Friday AI, October 9th,
- 0:06Dave Hamilton: Curious Events Day, 2026.
- 0:11Shannon Jean: I'm curious.
- 0:12Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I mean, is there a, you know, I feel like Curious Events Day was probably conceived before,
- 0:21Dave Hamilton: the ubiquity of the internet, because there are curious events that happen every day.
- 0:28Dave Hamilton: what the internet has done is it has allowed all of us to find out about every single one of them.
- 0:35Shannon Jean: Well have you seen this one
- 0:36Dave Hamilton: Yeah well that's what i mean like yeah it used to be and and this is true about
- 0:40Dave Hamilton: curious events it's true about bad news like you only knew about the things
- 0:44Dave Hamilton: that happened relatively close to you
- 0:48Dave Hamilton: yes and when i when a curious event happened you know on the other side of the
- 0:51Dave Hamilton: country or even halfway across the country or a terrible thing happened
- 0:55Dave Hamilton: halfway across the country you simply didn't know unless you knew someone in
- 1:00Dave Hamilton: that town that lived there but most of us didn't right.
- 1:03Shannon Jean: Probably probably uh better
- 1:05Dave Hamilton: For us i think it was way better for us yeah that you know the 24-hour news
- 1:09Dave Hamilton: cycle is certainly part of this but um,
- 1:13Dave Hamilton: yeah yeah anyway greetings folks welcome to business brain the show where we
- 1:17Dave Hamilton: take some ideas and we crunch them we dissect them we use them to tune our business
- 1:21Dave Hamilton: brains so that we can each level up our charmed lives,
- 1:25Dave Hamilton: our sponsors include 11labs.io slash business brain where uh we'll talk and
- 1:31Dave Hamilton: learn more about 11 agents that can help build customer experiences for you and your business,
- 1:36Dave Hamilton: and hymns.com slash business brain where you can go to get a personalized affordable
- 1:41Dave Hamilton: plan that gets you and we'll talk more about those in a little bit for now here
- 1:45Dave Hamilton: in durham new hampshire i'm dave hamilton.
- 1:48Shannon Jean: And I'm Shannon Jean. I'm here in Northern California, and I'm always excited
- 1:52Shannon Jean: to talk on Friday. I happy Friday.
- 1:55Dave Hamilton: Happy Friday. yeah, I, it's, yeah, go, go.
- 1:59Shannon Jean: I want to talk about Muse.
- 2:01Dave Hamilton: Oh, same.
- 2:02Shannon Jean: Great. M-U-S-E. Yes. Came out on the 29th. So we recorded early because we were
- 2:09Shannon Jean: both out of town last year. So we haven't really talked about it yet.
- 2:11Dave Hamilton: We were out of town last year, but also last week. Yeah.
- 2:14Shannon Jean: Last week, same thing. And, And yeah, it's pretty interesting.
- 2:19Shannon Jean: And I find that what's really interesting is I think just today,
- 2:24Shannon Jean: when we're recording this on October 6th, Intuit just allowed Muse to connect
- 2:30Shannon Jean: directly to QuickBooks, which I think will be amazing.
- 2:34Shannon Jean: So Muse is another AI agent, right?
- 2:39Shannon Jean: Like similar to Instinct, similar to GrokBot.
- 2:43Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I would call these agent first platforms, right?
- 2:49Dave Hamilton: Whereas like ChatGPT and Claude started as chatbots where you were basically,
- 2:57Dave Hamilton: and this is a, I'll say it, an enhanced search engine, right?
- 3:03Dave Hamilton: Where it was going and maybe getting information for you, but just processing,
- 3:08Dave Hamilton: a query in some way, shape, or form.
- 3:12Dave Hamilton: Whereas Muse, like Instinct and like you said, like GrokBot,
- 3:16Dave Hamilton: is intended to go and do things on your behalf, remind you of things.
- 3:23Dave Hamilton: I started using Muse basically right when it came out, and it was great for,
- 3:27Dave Hamilton: our trip last week. I used both Instinct and Muse.
- 3:31Dave Hamilton: one thing that I like,
- 3:33Dave Hamilton: much better about Muse is that it is far more open to interacting with other
- 3:42Dave Hamilton: platforms. I mean, the thing about QuickBooks- It does seem.
- 3:44Shannon Jean: To have less problems to interacting. With Instinct, you often hit that wall
- 3:49Shannon Jean: and it'll come back and be like, oh, it wouldn't let me do this.
- 3:53Dave Hamilton: Instinct wouldn't see my email, whereas because I use Fastmail,
- 3:57Dave Hamilton: I don't use Gmail as my primary.
- 3:59Shannon Jean: Yeah, Muse connected right to my Apple Mail. Yeah.
- 4:01Dave Hamilton: It was great. I told it. I'm like, I use FastMail. There's an MCP connector.
- 4:05Dave Hamilton: It's like, yeah, I got you. Just here, go log in and say it's okay. And I did.
- 4:10Dave Hamilton: And then it was like, all right, we're off to the races. And it could do all the things.
- 4:14Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I really like Muse. I mean, there was a little hesitation at first where
- 4:21Dave Hamilton: it was like, oh, man, I can't believe I'm about to let Meta log into my email.
- 4:25Shannon Jean: Well, this is a good question that Hunter just asked in the chat,
- 4:29Shannon Jean: right? Talk about Muse security if you're comfortable connecting it to email.
- 4:33Dave Hamilton: There you go. So it was as though you teed it up for me.
- 4:37Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 4:38Dave Hamilton: Go. No, my hesitation was short-lived because I thought, well,
- 4:46Dave Hamilton: I've already connected Claude to my email.
- 4:50Dave Hamilton: Same. I've already connected OpenClaw to my email.
- 4:54Dave Hamilton: i have tried to connect instinct to my email and i don't know anything i mean
- 5:00Dave Hamilton: i know a little bit about the the the guy and the team that started instinct
- 5:04Dave Hamilton: but i mean like they've got a lot of investors yeah they pulled in another,
- 5:09Dave Hamilton: huge round of investments right since we talked last and it was like wait why
- 5:13Dave Hamilton: am i hesitating i like meta already has all my information yes of all of these
- 5:19Dave Hamilton: companies they're the ones that are going to that have the least to gain so correct.
- 5:23Shannon Jean: I think that with all of these um
- 5:28Shannon Jean: agents. I believe that if you're, you cannot get the most out of them if you
- 5:36Shannon Jean: don't connect them to everything.
- 5:38Dave Hamilton: Oh, for sure.
- 5:39Shannon Jean: For sure. Right. So I'm comfortable, you know, they have, I asked,
- 5:43Shannon Jean: I asked instinct actually, if, if Muse was socked too, and they said no.
- 5:49Shannon Jean: But they have this no binding, no training, or they have a no training commitment,
- 5:55Shannon Jean: meaning that we're not going to train on your data. Okay, they have that.
- 5:59Shannon Jean: And so, you know, what Instinct said, right? Fine for individual use,
- 6:03Shannon Jean: not yet a compliance-grade business tool, but I use it, you know,
- 6:08Shannon Jean: I've been letting these things have access. All of them...
- 6:13Shannon Jean: Ask my permission before they do anything. Right. They will draft a message.
- 6:18Shannon Jean: Yes. Do different things. I don't, I'm not concerned that Muse is going to go
- 6:23Shannon Jean: crazy in my email. Right.
- 6:26Shannon Jean: I want it to flag things. And, you know, I had an issue in my community this
- 6:31Shannon Jean: morning, and I've got GrockBot as a user in the community.
- 6:36Dave Hamilton: Yep.
- 6:36Shannon Jean: That can flag me when certain things happen. So it alert me right away.
- 6:40Shannon Jean: And they're super powerful, man.
- 6:45Shannon Jean: This is the way it's going to be. Agents talking to agents.
- 6:50Shannon Jean: And one thing I found interesting, like in addition to Intuit and QuickBooks
- 6:55Shannon Jean: allowing Muse to come in is so did Shopify.
- 6:58Shannon Jean: And so if, like I posted last week, I said, hey, if your website doesn't let
- 7:05Shannon Jean: my agent in to get things done, I'm going to go somewhere else. Oh, for sure.
- 7:10Shannon Jean: I just don't have time. And I was surprised to see Amazon killed access to Muse
- 7:17Shannon Jean: on their platform because they don't want it up there shopping for you.
- 7:21Dave Hamilton: And I thought- What a bizarre thing.
- 7:23Shannon Jean: It's crazy, right?
- 7:24Dave Hamilton: Because- Did they have a reason?
- 7:26Shannon Jean: No, I just, I don't have a direct-
- 7:31Shannon Jean: You know, Amazon, it says here, Amazon is holding out. That's what it says.
- 7:35Shannon Jean: But I think it's a boon for Shopify sellers to be able to say,
- 7:41Shannon Jean: hey, turn your agents on.
- 7:42Shannon Jean: You can shop from your whatever and we'll, you know, I'm sure they're claiming
- 7:46Shannon Jean: it's some kind of security thing or they don't want. And I don't,
- 7:49Shannon Jean: it's only been a few weeks since Muse is out. So it's not like,
- 7:52Shannon Jean: I mean, you know, who knows?
- 7:53Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's weird. Amazon says their problem is that they never agreed to let Muse in.
- 8:01Dave Hamilton: and and it was like well but you agree to let me in if i if i hire a and i still
- 8:09Dave Hamilton: don't like the term virtual assistant if i if i because like muse is a virtual
- 8:13Dave Hamilton: assistant but if i hire a person,
- 8:17Dave Hamilton: a person as my assistant and they're real not virtual then amazon like presumably
- 8:24Dave Hamilton: if i give that person the ability to log in as me, Amazon's going to let them
- 8:28Dave Hamilton: order things on my behalf.
- 8:30Dave Hamilton: So why not? And I would have to take responsibility for what I have allowed that person to do.
- 8:38Dave Hamilton: So why wouldn't I then also be able to take responsibility for a virtual assistant?
- 8:44Shannon Jean: They should come up and say, hey, if you connect it, whatever it does, you're responsible.
- 8:49Dave Hamilton: Because that's the deal, folks.
- 8:51Shannon Jean: That's the deal.
- 8:52Dave Hamilton: Like with anything.
- 8:54Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 8:54Dave Hamilton: If OpenClaw sends an email on my behalf, or that hasn't happened because I haven't
- 9:01Dave Hamilton: let it, but if OpenClaw deletes 800 of my emails, which has happened,
- 9:06Dave Hamilton: that's also my fault. Yeah.
- 9:10Dave Hamilton: That's right. There was no point in that process when I freaked out about losing
- 9:14Dave Hamilton: 800 emails in my inbox that I was like, I need someone to blame.
- 9:18Dave Hamilton: I knew exactly which someone to blame. It was this someone, the guy who's talking right now.
- 9:23Shannon Jean: And we did an episode on harnesses a couple weeks ago. You know,
- 9:28Shannon Jean: this is Muse, it's a harness.
- 9:29Dave Hamilton: It's just another harness. Right.
- 9:32Shannon Jean: The more you connect them to things, the more powerful they are.
- 9:35Dave Hamilton: Generally speaking, true.
- 9:37Shannon Jean: Connect them to your Zoom because you have call transcripts.
- 9:41Shannon Jean: Yeah. Connect them to Notion because you're building out, you know,
- 9:46Shannon Jean: whatever else, whatever you're building in Notion.
- 9:47Shannon Jean: You connect them to Klaviyo or you can connect them to kit.com or I don't know
- 9:53Shannon Jean: about Beehive, but in one of them, if you use Slack, connecting to Slack is life-changing.
- 9:59Shannon Jean: Yes. Because I can't keep up with everything that's going on,
- 10:04Shannon Jean: but I can certainly have my agent in the morning when I fire up my computer.
- 10:09Shannon Jean: It's like, here's what's happening.
- 10:10Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 10:12Shannon Jean: Here's your dashboard and everything. So I'm comfortable. I'm here for it. And I'm excited to
- 10:18Dave Hamilton: Dig in and use it more. Of course. Let me put it this way.
- 10:22Dave Hamilton: I'm certainly going to make mistakes. In addition to that, my agents are also
- 10:26Dave Hamilton: going to make mistakes, and I have to pay for those mistakes whether I made
- 10:31Dave Hamilton: them or my agent made them on my behalf. It's just how it goes.
- 10:34Dave Hamilton: But what would I, in my opinion, would be a greater mistake is not using agents
- 10:40Dave Hamilton: for anything because all of my competitors are using them.
- 10:44Shannon Jean: Yes.
- 10:44Dave Hamilton: So there you go. Yep. That's it. I do have some concerns.
- 10:48Shannon Jean: Though. There's going to be a massive price. I do have some concerns.
- 10:49Shannon Jean: I want to hear about your concerns.
- 10:51Dave Hamilton: Yeah. I'm interested to see what you're saying. They probably aren't the concerns
- 10:54Dave Hamilton: that you're hearing everybody else rant about, but they might be. I don't know.
- 10:58Dave Hamilton: We'll talk about it in a few minutes.
- 11:01Dave Hamilton: What we're going to do in the interim few minutes, and we love that you let
- 11:05Dave Hamilton: us do this, is we are eager to tell you about our sponsors.
- 11:11Dave Hamilton: You know, just the other day, I had to call our hotel about our CES reservations
- 11:17Dave Hamilton: because I go for the other podcasts that I do.
- 11:19Dave Hamilton: Simple question, right? And it's needed to make sure two reservations were linked
- 11:22Dave Hamilton: together. But first, the phone tree, right?
- 11:25Dave Hamilton: Press one, press three, listen to all five options because they've changed. Hold.
- 11:30Dave Hamilton: And then a menu that doesn't have the thing I'm calling about.
- 11:33Dave Hamilton: Of course, by the time I finally got a human, I was already worn down.
- 11:37Dave Hamilton: And let's be clear, that human was great.
- 11:40Dave Hamilton: She fixed it in about 90 seconds, right? Which is the whole problem, right?
- 11:44Dave Hamilton: The system is broken for everyone in it. For us waiting, of course.
- 11:48Dave Hamilton: For the rep who's good at their job but stuck behind decades-old technology.
- 11:53Dave Hamilton: And for the business that genuinely wants customers to have a great experience
- 11:58Dave Hamilton: and keeps getting in its own way.
- 12:00Dave Hamilton: I still have whole music from 2014 permanently installed in my hippocampus here.
- 12:06Dave Hamilton: And that, my friends, is where our sponsor Eleven Agents comes in.
- 12:10Dave Hamilton: it's a platform for ai voice and chat agents that actually listen understand
- 12:16Dave Hamilton: and resolve issues they can look up your account they can process requests
- 12:20Dave Hamilton: and hand off to a person when a person is what's needed it's made by the folks
- 12:25Dave Hamilton: at 11 labs of course that's the company behind all the ai voices that sound
- 12:29Dave Hamilton: expressive and natural rather than robotic we've experimented with it here on the show before.
- 12:34Dave Hamilton: And works in over 70 languages. It's built for real scale.
- 12:38Dave Hamilton: More than 10 million conversations a week with SOC 2, HIPAA,
- 12:43Dave Hamilton: and PCI certifications.
- 12:45Dave Hamilton: If I had needed 11 agents by 11 labs, it's what I'd use. And that's the charmed life.
- 12:50Dave Hamilton: Getting a straight answer the first time.
- 12:53Dave Hamilton: If you run a business or handle customer operations across support,

- 13:20Dave Hamilton: 11 labs for sponsoring this episode.
- 13:23Dave Hamilton: And, you know, we founders have a dashboard for everything these days,
- 13:26Dave Hamilton: right? Revenue, churn, downloads, open rates, whatever it is in your business.
- 13:31Dave Hamilton: But if our bodies had dashboards, they might be like one red light and a sticky
- 13:35Dave Hamilton: note that says, ask again later.
- 13:37Dave Hamilton: There's probably a goal weight in your head, right? And getting there on your own is the hard part.
- 13:43Dave Hamilton: Weight Loss by HIMSS offers access to a range of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications,

- 13:57Dave Hamilton: and it also comes as a pen, so you've got options, right?
- 14:01Dave Hamilton: You start with an online consultation with a licensed provider who determines
- 14:05Dave Hamilton: if a prescription is appropriate.

- 14:53Dave Hamilton: for sponsoring this episode.
- 14:55Shannon Jean: Okay, man, what are you worried about?
- 14:56Dave Hamilton: Yeah. So what I'm worried about is, let's take our conversation that we had
- 15:03Dave Hamilton: at the beginning of this episode, for example, right?
- 15:06Dave Hamilton: You and I are all in on this AI thing, as all in as I know anyone to be personally.
- 15:16Dave Hamilton: I think there are people who are more all in than we are, but certainly.
- 15:19Shannon Jean: But I would say we're early adopters.
- 15:21Dave Hamilton: For sure. No question. Bleeding edge, right? We break things,
- 15:25Dave Hamilton: we pay the price, all that stuff, but we also reap the benefits.
- 15:30Dave Hamilton: AI has gotten to a point. It wasn't that long ago that I said,
- 15:35Dave Hamilton: you can't, I don't like using AI in scenarios where I don't have knowledge,
- 15:42Dave Hamilton: where I don't have domain authority, right?
- 15:44Dave Hamilton: Or domain expertise, authority is the wrong term, domain expertise, subject matter,
- 15:51Dave Hamilton: because i don't know if what the ai is telling me is correct or the right thing or not,
- 15:59Dave Hamilton: with the current models that are out here now though that is changing for me
- 16:05Dave Hamilton: i am comfortable because i've seen solutions implemented,
- 16:11Dave Hamilton: that i sort of directed the ai towards but it like it It was way out over my skis,
- 16:18Dave Hamilton: and yet, repeatedly,
- 16:21Dave Hamilton: I'm getting results.
- 16:23Dave Hamilton: And that's the part where it's like, okay—.
- 16:28Dave Hamilton: Where are we headed with this? Because there is less and less incentive to develop domain expertise.
- 16:41Dave Hamilton: There is less and less incentive to fact check the AI's work.
- 16:45Dave Hamilton: Like when it gets to a certain point, the only way I can fact check it is to ship it.
- 16:51Dave Hamilton: Like whatever it has created, ship it. And does it work?
- 16:54Dave Hamilton: Does the person to whom I delivered whatever this is, be it a website or a spreadsheet
- 17:01Dave Hamilton: or a contract or whatever, are they happy with it?
- 17:04Dave Hamilton: And I know when I'm asking that question, at least for some people,
- 17:09Dave Hamilton: I'm not just asking, are they happy with it? I'm asking, is their LLM happy
- 17:14Dave Hamilton: with it, right? Like, is their agent happy with it?
- 17:17Dave Hamilton: And at what point do we stop using our brains and what does that mean?
- 17:26Dave Hamilton: Like that's the concern that I have here is at some point, and it's not today,
- 17:33Dave Hamilton: like we're all still using our brains. We're all still architecting things.
- 17:37Dave Hamilton: But at what point does all of that just kind of become a rounding error?
- 17:43Dave Hamilton: And it's just the LLMs, our agents, working on our behalf with no help from
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: us, no guidance from us, no guidelines from us.
- 17:55Dave Hamilton: And I know there's people out there doing that right now and not having great
- 18:00Dave Hamilton: success, but that's going to get better.
- 18:04Shannon Jean: Yeah. And I think I've mentioned this quote before on here. I think Mark Cuban said it.
- 18:08Shannon Jean: You know, there are people using AI to become smarter and people using AI that
- 18:15Shannon Jean: because they're stupid.
- 18:16Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:18Shannon Jean: But it encapsulates what you're describing. It's there are people that are just
- 18:23Shannon Jean: I throw it in here and it gives me an answer.
- 18:26Shannon Jean: But I would argue that
- 18:30Shannon Jean: it's been this way forever, and there are people that would just Google it and
- 18:36Shannon Jean: grab the first answer, and that would be it.
- 18:38Dave Hamilton: Oh, there it is. There are people that will – I'm sorry? Mark,
- 18:42Dave Hamilton: I got it. Yeah, Mark Cuban.
- 18:44Shannon Jean: Yeah.
- 18:44Dave Hamilton: Yeah, he says there's two types of AI users. You're either using it to learn
- 18:48Dave Hamilton: everything or so you don't have to learn anything.
- 18:52Shannon Jean: Yes. Yes. It's the same type of people that would jump to Wikipedia and search
- 18:57Shannon Jean: and come up with something and say, oh, this is a fact, which is not,
- 19:00Shannon Jean: right? It's someone else writing what they think.
- 19:03Shannon Jean: Even Google, you're coming up.
- 19:07Shannon Jean: I always, I mean, like us, because we're, quote, bleeding edge or on the edge
- 19:12Shannon Jean: or early adopters. Sure.
- 19:14Shannon Jean: If I'm not sure, the first thing I do is run it through another,
- 19:19Shannon Jean: a different AI, which I have found can add nuance to how things are interpreted or how they're stated.
- 19:29Shannon Jean: But I don't know that I...
- 19:31Dave Hamilton: To be candid,
- 19:35Dave Hamilton: I think you're not relying on it the way I'm relying on it because I'm pushing.
- 19:40Dave Hamilton: Right. Like I'm not doing that anymore because there's no reason to do that anymore.
- 19:51Dave Hamilton: Things like Fable and Soul are creating.
- 19:55Shannon Jean: Doesn't it make it better that it's not hallucinating as much?
- 19:59Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 20:00Shannon Jean: That it's actually, I mean, we all have Gilman, we all have Gilman amnesia,
- 20:04Shannon Jean: right? Right. We, we look it up to see what it means.
- 20:08Shannon Jean: Uh, so if you don't, if you're out of your zone of expertise, you have no way.
- 20:15Shannon Jean: Uh, so, but I, I, I don't, I think that's empowering, dude.
- 20:18Dave Hamilton: I think that's no, I agree with you. I'm using it as I feel empowered by it.
- 20:25Shannon Jean: But yeah, I want to do more. I want to be on the rocket ship, man.
- 20:28Dave Hamilton: At the same, same. And I, and like, I'm going to be, none of this is stopping
- 20:33Dave Hamilton: me, but it does have me asking, what does this create for us?
- 20:38Dave Hamilton: And I, and, and I think one of the options is another Renaissance. Yeah.
- 20:46Shannon Jean: I believe.
- 20:47Dave Hamilton: Yes. I really, I think that's a likely outcome is that we just stop having to
- 20:55Dave Hamilton: work the way that we think about work right now, right?
- 20:59Dave Hamilton: It becomes more about, look, here's what the robots are great at doing.
- 21:04Shannon Jean: Yeah, the mundane stuff. Yes. The things like now, although…
- 21:10Shannon Jean: contrary to what everybody believes, right? Their demand for,
- 21:14Shannon Jean: let's call them software programmers or developers is the highest it's ever been.
- 21:18Shannon Jean: Yes. Even though these tools were supposed to just wipe them out, right?
- 21:24Shannon Jean: And so there's a lot of contradiction around that.
- 21:28Shannon Jean: But I too believe we are entering a renaissance of sorts, but people like us
- 21:37Shannon Jean: and people that are embracing it to become smarter,
- 21:41Shannon Jean: we are definitely going to have to take, I don't want to use the word take care
- 21:46Shannon Jean: of, we're going to have to take into account a large, could be a significant
- 21:53Shannon Jean: portion of the population that are not going to do that.
- 21:57Shannon Jean: And they're going to struggle during this transition.
- 22:00Shannon Jean: For sure. And we're going to have to come up with ways to help them.
- 22:04Shannon Jean: And I don't have the answer to that.
- 22:06Dave Hamilton: But.
- 22:07Shannon Jean: It does need
- 22:08Dave Hamilton: To be on our radar. It might be the best argument for that universal basic income or whatever.
- 22:14Shannon Jean: We already have it. We already have you.
- 22:16Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I know. But we might need more of it, Shannon, in order to get where we're going.
- 22:21Shannon Jean: He calls it universal high income.
- 22:26Shannon Jean: Everybody will have it because there will be so much productivity.
- 22:30Shannon Jean: I mean, they're building a plant
- 22:31Shannon Jean: an hour from me that's going to kick out 10,000 Optimus robots a week.
- 22:36Dave Hamilton: It's crazy. And we all want them.
- 22:38Shannon Jean: I want them. I can't wait to buy them. I want them in my house.
- 22:41Shannon Jean: I want them in my vacation rentals locked up so when they're done,
- 22:44Shannon Jean: I can go, oh, dude, okay, you know what? They're saying you can't fix the TV.
- 22:48Shannon Jean: Go walk over there and let me see through your eyes so we can figure it out
- 22:52Shannon Jean: together. That'll change my life. It'll change my life.
- 22:54Dave Hamilton: Oh, yeah. No, I think that's the thing is there are so many of us that are going
- 23:00Dave Hamilton: to use this tech to enhance and enhance and enhance not just our lives but the
- 23:06Dave Hamilton: lives of our customers and our employees and our team members and all that stuff,
- 23:10Dave Hamilton: But there will be, I am already, maybe this is the right way to explain my concern.
- 23:17Dave Hamilton: I am already finding myself using AI less to learn and more just to do things.
- 23:26Dave Hamilton: And I think that's probably the right, but that wasn't true six months ago.
- 23:31Dave Hamilton: Six months ago, it was teaching me.
- 23:34Shannon Jean: Yes. But even just the mundane stuff.
- 23:36Dave Hamilton: Now it's doing for me. Like, for example, when I was in New York earlier this
- 23:41Dave Hamilton: month or earlier in September and then and then Atlantic City, I had it.
- 23:46Dave Hamilton: It was just like, I don't have time. Go back to Wednesday's episode if you want to know why.
- 23:50Dave Hamilton: I don't have time to think about what we're going to do on this trip. So go.
- 23:54Dave Hamilton: And I told instinct this because it was before, you know, we were planning it
- 23:58Dave Hamilton: before Muse was available for me.
- 24:00Dave Hamilton: And and I said, just like, come up with some ideas. I need dinner reservations
- 24:04Dave Hamilton: where we're going to these concerts.
- 24:05Shannon Jean: You got to figure this out for me.
- 24:07Dave Hamilton: And halfway through it was like um it didn't tell me that my wife was doing
- 24:12Dave Hamilton: the same thing but it basically told me that it was like you know,
- 24:16Dave Hamilton: you're going away with lisa and if you were to link my instinct with her instinct
- 24:22Dave Hamilton: we could do all this together and i was like oh sure go ahead and then all of
- 24:26Dave Hamilton: a sudden it was like all right well lisa's already planned all this stuff it
- 24:29Dave Hamilton: was like okay you knew that.
- 24:30Shannon Jean: Like that's that's yes
- 24:32Dave Hamilton: Yes but like i didn't spend any time researching Atlantic City on my own.
- 24:39Dave Hamilton: I only know Atlantic City,
- 24:42Dave Hamilton: from what instinct told me to look at and the things.
- 24:47Shannon Jean: That i saw on the way that yeah it may have if you were to ask instinct or
- 24:53Shannon Jean: muse or whatever hey i'm going to atlantic city help me plan my trip so i see
- 24:57Shannon Jean: the best stuff that that's what i did in new orleans i had no idea yeah that
- 25:01Shannon Jean: this world war ii who would have thought that the national world war ii museum was in new orleans
- 25:05Shannon Jean: and i just said what do i need to see and it was like oh it's only two miles
- 25:09Shannon Jean: from the house you're staying in
- 25:11Shannon Jean: don't miss this and then while i'm on the plane united that had starlink i was
- 25:15Shannon Jean: chatting with muse and i said hey
- 25:18Shannon Jean: there's like 10 people coming to this
- 25:21Shannon Jean: i i'd love to have some food there when we got there it's a great no problem
- 25:24Shannon Jean: yeah and it made a whole list of stuff with he's like are they all guys yes
- 25:29Shannon Jean: but this is what you need yeah lots of meat and did it all this kind of thing
- 25:33Shannon Jean: and it it ordered it through via instacart and when i got to the place there
- 25:37Shannon Jean: was six bags of groceries. It's perfect. It was amazing.
- 25:40Dave Hamilton: No, that's the thing is I love it. It's that. I know. I love it too.
- 25:45Shannon Jean: I'll give that. It can have it. It can have it.
- 25:47Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 25:47Shannon Jean: I'm happy to give that up, dude, because I'm not good at that stuff.
- 25:52Dave Hamilton: I know, but like.
- 25:53Shannon Jean: This makes me a better, I gotta say, I'm going to say it. It makes me a better human.
- 26:00Shannon Jean: Because I'm not a planner like that.
- 26:01Dave Hamilton: Oh, no. I get that.
- 26:03Shannon Jean: I'm not going to know about the World War II Museum.
- 26:05Dave Hamilton: Yeah, I don't think you're hearing me, to be candid. Maybe not.
- 26:11Dave Hamilton: It's that I am learning less today than I was six months ago.
- 26:17Dave Hamilton: And I can draw a line to AI being the reason for that. That's interesting. That's the part.
- 26:25Dave Hamilton: Now, maybe I am learning more soft skills today than I was six months ago, right?
- 26:31Dave Hamilton: But in terms of knowledge, I am learning less today because I don't have to.
- 26:40Dave Hamilton: I can just trust you to do the thing.
- 26:41Shannon Jean: You should do a really good long-form post about this concept with examples
- 26:47Shannon Jean: and post an article on X and I'll boost it.
- 26:50Shannon Jean: And I really would like to hear more about this because I think,
- 26:55Shannon Jean: yeah, like one of the guys in the comments said, that's a long-term problem, right?
- 26:58Shannon Jean: So, yeah, I'm curious. But I also would say it's like when I was in high school,
- 27:05Shannon Jean: they said you can't use calculators in class.
- 27:09Dave Hamilton: I know. And I've used this example.
- 27:12Shannon Jean: How many phone numbers do you know now?
- 27:15Dave Hamilton: That's a great – no.
- 27:16Shannon Jean: Because my phone – no.
- 27:17Dave Hamilton: Our phones are great at memorizing things. I don't need to memorize this stuff. No, but it's concepts.
- 27:24Dave Hamilton: I am aware.
- 27:26Shannon Jean: I believe it's releasing us from the drudgery to allow us to live a more fulfilled life.
- 27:33Dave Hamilton: As long as that's what we're getting to now. Yeah, I agree.
- 27:37Shannon Jean: But your concern is really valid.
- 27:39Dave Hamilton: But it might be that what I wind up doing, especially when I combine the lessons
- 27:44Dave Hamilton: from Wednesday's episode with sort of the concerns of today, if you will,
- 27:47Dave Hamilton: is that, you know, a year from now or maybe two years from now,
- 27:51Dave Hamilton: I'm spending more time playing my drums and learning more and more about that.
- 27:57Dave Hamilton: And maybe that is my most valuable skill.
- 28:00Shannon Jean: Or more time with your kids.
- 28:02Dave Hamilton: I said that on the show, I think a year ago that, you know, my,
- 28:06Dave Hamilton: my ability to play the drums might become my most valuable skill.
- 28:11Dave Hamilton: I, yeah. And I'm okay with that. Like, sure. Yeah.
- 28:14Shannon Jean: It's, it's, I, I do believe that we are going to have to adapt.
- 28:19Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 28:20Shannon Jean: And if you're not a lifelong learner, like I think you are.
- 28:25Dave Hamilton: I totally am. That's the part that concerns me is it's like,
- 28:27Dave Hamilton: wait, like I need to change how it is that I approach the concept of learning. Yeah.
- 28:33Shannon Jean: I think you have to continue to read. I think you have to continue to digest.
- 28:38Shannon Jean: You have to build your own curriculum.
- 28:40Shannon Jean: And if you let AI or Google, you could, this argument we could have had 20 years
- 28:45Shannon Jean: ago when Google first came out, I think. It's only different.
- 28:50Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's not the same, dude.
- 28:52Shannon Jean: Yeah, I know. It's easier.
- 28:54Dave Hamilton: I get it. No, no, because Google just expanded access to information. Not Google.
- 29:02Shannon Jean: Isn't J.I.
- 29:02Dave Hamilton: Doing that? The internet. No. The internet expanded access to information.
- 29:07Shannon Jean: You're not learning from it when it builds that stuff for you?
- 29:10Dave Hamilton: That's exactly what I'm saying, is I no longer need to learn what it is doing or what it has done.
- 29:18Dave Hamilton: I just say, this is the result I want, and it gets it for me,
- 29:21Dave Hamilton: and I test it, and it works, and I don't have to know.
- 29:24Dave Hamilton: That is exactly it, yes.
- 29:26Shannon Jean: I would say you need to add a prompt as, I want you to...
- 29:30Shannon Jean: I need you to tell me to tell,
- 29:32Dave Hamilton: But I, I, that like, I want to do.
- 29:34Shannon Jean: It sounds like to me, you need it.
- 29:35Dave Hamilton: No, but that's, but that's what I'm saying. You want it.
- 29:39Dave Hamilton: I, I kind of, kind of, that's the, that's the danger is even me,
- 29:44Dave Hamilton: somebody who likes to learn new things every single day is I am just letting things happen now,
- 29:52Dave Hamilton: at a speed. That's amazing.
- 29:55Dave Hamilton: And I'm not stepping back and saying, I want to learn why.
- 29:59Dave Hamilton: And if I'm saying that, boy, I'll tell you what, I know that there are like
- 30:05Dave Hamilton: huge percentages of the population that have already been saying that. Yeah.
- 30:11Shannon Jean: But I think we're on the, I think we're, I have conversations with,
- 30:15Shannon Jean: you know, lots of normies.
- 30:17Shannon Jean: I call them civilians, wonderful people, but not business owners, not entrepreneurs.
- 30:22Shannon Jean: It's the adoption rate is so much lower. It'll take off now like crazy with
- 30:26Shannon Jean: Muse and these kind of wrappers that they're putting around it that makes it so approachable.
- 30:33Shannon Jean: But, yeah, it's a great conversation. We need to continue to have it.
- 30:37Dave Hamilton: Feedback at BusinessBrain.show, folks. I want to hear what you have to say about
- 30:40Dave Hamilton: this because I really think there's something here.
- 30:46Dave Hamilton: And I think it's important, although it may not matter if that – It's different.
- 30:53Shannon Jean: You're going to have the opportunity to learn much more stuff.
- 30:55Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 30:57Shannon Jean: So I think the big takeaway for me here is that Dave is concerned that he's learning less.
- 31:04Shannon Jean: And I value Dave's intellect and his...
- 31:10Shannon Jean: What's the word? Otherness. That Dave's not the normal guy, which is great.
- 31:14Dave Hamilton: I know I'm not the normal guy. Yeah, yeah, it's fine.
- 31:16Shannon Jean: Correct. So I really value you. You're way up here.
- 31:20Shannon Jean: So we need to be aware of it. So are we learning less with AI? That's the takeaway.
- 31:26Shannon Jean: And we're going to dig into the topic. You know, we're going to use AI to do it.
- 31:30Dave Hamilton: Yes, that's what I'm saying.
- 31:32Shannon Jean: Yes. But if you go to businessbrain.show slash blueprints, we'll continue the discussion.
- 31:37Dave Hamilton: Yeah. And the prompt I'm putting in there, the takeaway I'm putting in is,
- 31:41Dave Hamilton: are we learning less with AI or just learning differently?
- 31:45Dave Hamilton: And I think I would argue that it's differently, but it's not yet.
- 31:49Dave Hamilton: But I think it could be. For me, it is.
- 31:51Shannon Jean: I'm learning
- 31:54Shannon Jean: much differently now than I was. That's it. Yeah.
- 31:56Dave Hamilton: Yeah. So thanks for hanging out, folks. Like he said, businessbrain.show slash
- 32:01Dave Hamilton: blueprint is where or blueprints. It doesn't matter. They both get you there.
- 32:05Dave Hamilton: you can just go get that and uh it'll be there for free for you just for being
- 32:09Dave Hamilton: a listener and thank you for being a listener and uh we'll see you next week
- 32:13Dave Hamilton: keep living that job great weekend later.
