- 0:00Hey, now. [air horn] [laughs] All right, Merritt. [upbeat music] [laughs] Was that part of it? I hope not.
- 0:10[laughs] [air horn] G-G-G DJ Dub Deezy. [laughs] Shit. Memories of Riverwest '24.
- 0:27[sighs] And, and the son's wedding. Yeah. Good God. Oh, boy. Oh, man. I know. You picked that... Ugh, that hasn't scarred over. That's still a scab, man. There's still puss under there.
- 0:40[laughs] Yeah, that was pretty wild. I might have to, uh, might have to tame that down a little bit. Or just not use it. Well- There's that [laughs]... it's live, man. It's, it is what it is. We're not...
- 0:49Do we edit this? No. Do you know why? 'Cause, no. We know how to, yeah, figure out. There's, it's just coding. Is it April? It's just coding. We can figure out to assign it to something else.
- 0:58I c- I could probably have, uh, Mr. GPT or somebody- Mm-hmm... take that out of there if it was really important, but- No. Yeah. But nah. But nah. Uh, did you notice his shirt?
- 1:09I, of course, as soon as you walked into- Yes, yes, yes... the bar next door. Got a little Biketoberfest- It's a Biketoberfest shirt. Did you win that? I did. Nice. With one of the little tickets that- I won nothing.
- 1:20Well- I also won nothing... but I didn't really check all the time. Yeah. And also- That was the other part... it was kinda like towards that last couple of stops.
- 1:26It was like, yeah, you know, there's a lot of stuff in there still. Understood. I did have to rummage quite deep to find a large, which is, it is- Push- pushing the sausage casings? [laughs] There were no extra larges.
- 1:38But it's a pretty cool shot. I like the s- Yeah... that's a large. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't seem to be pushing that too mu- Well, now you do. Well, yeah, if you- That's gross... you know, lean into the sausage casing.
- 1:48[laughs] Wow. I know, I double layered- I didn't know you were pregnant. I double layered myself- I can, I can inflate my stomach with air. Sure. Whatever. [laughs] Um, anyway.
- 1:59Well, that was, that was a good ride, the Biketoberfest. Hell yes. Yes. Mm-hmm. Sorry Billy got sick. Well, well, yeah. That stunk.
- 2:07Billy, I, I'm, I'm not gonna say it was Billy, 'cause I'm not sure if that's public knowledge, but it sucks that, you know, I, I feel like partially responsible 'cause I texted him on Monday saying, "Bad news.
- 2:16I gotta ride bikes with you on Saturday." Oh. And then lo and behold, he can't go. Yeah. And we're stuck with newborn. Yeah. Hi, Jake. Hi, Jake. You know what?
- 2:25He went to the, he went to the, uh, World Series game, one of them. Wow. Here, in town? Yeah, yeah. Um, James and his son Bryce, for less than it would cost to go here by a long ways- Yeah... flew to Tampa,
- 2:39got a ticket, got two nights at a hotel for like half the price it would've cost just to go to the game here. Yeah, but you're in fucking Florida, and what's the point? Well. Yeah.
- 2:47I, I, first of all, I don't like throwball anyway. Second of all, [laughs] fuck Florida. He, um- That's America's wang. Right?
- 2:54[laughs] Actually, James lived in the Tampa region for a f- while 'cause he was w- helping that dude with that hostel down there. Oh. Um, forget what the guy's name is or if the hostel's even still there, but, uh,
- 3:08former and/or current friend John Schlick and former partner made it to the, one of the games. All right. 'Cause he's local now down there.
- 3:16Well, it's- So he made it to the only game that was there since tonight's the second one. Oh, yeah. It must've been yesterday. It was yesterday. Wow. It was not yesterday. In real time. Three days ago. It was Monday.
- 3:24Yeah, three days ago in real... Or yesterday. Well, the Brewers could be the world champion World Series champions- By the time we... Yeah... if we manifest it. Woo. If you will it, man, there is no dream.
- 3:34[laughs] Walter Subject. I, you know- Fay Lebowski... I mean, I'm not, I'm not an, I'm not not a baseball fan, but I'm not a rabid fan all year long.
- 3:42Although, I did watch more Brewers this year or listened to more games this year than tr- than normal. Rabid fan, that's what, um, [clears throat] Von Munds referred to me as [laughs] like a couple, a couple months ago.
- 3:54A rabid fan? Yeah. And I had to like, I was like, "Dude." But that's something important. Dude, every... Well, yeah. But every time I message him I'm going, "Man, as soon as I hear rabid fan, I think of avid fan."
- 4:04Or no, avid. That was a... My bad, my bad. [laughs] You're an avid fan? Avid. A rabid fan? Not rabid. I'm a rabid- It sounded- I like rabid... it sounded s- quite the same. But I went back to Manhunter- I like it...
- 4:15the Michael Mann, uh, Hannibal Lecter, and part of it is avid fan. Excellent. Avid listener. Okay. I'm, I'm gonna take this moment to just address
- 4:27the fact that Jenny was upset that they're only getting the side of my face. So- Yeah... throughout the rest of this podcast, I'm gonna go- Hi, Jenny Hello... and then go back to this.
- 4:38[laughs] You'll see me doing that throughout the podcast, just, you know. And then she's gonna have to do a shot every time I do that- Oh... if she's watching me.
- 4:44Remember, remember last week when I said, um, y- you know, people can't see. I mean, they see the set that we have set up, but they can't see. I didn't take a video of it, but, so. The, the craziness beyond it.
- 4:56We'll just, um... I'm peeling. Well, it's just that once we get everything set up, you can see there's some auto poles back there to do some stuff with. There's Tony.
- 5:04There's the beautiful wall that, um, Dave Lunze's brother's wife [laughs] painted back there that's gonna be another set. Um,
- 5:15and so if we had the three-camera setup, y- you'd have a lot of background stuff right now, so we're, we're getting there. Yeah. To be fair- To be fair... I have not been putting a bunch of time into this right now.
- 5:28There's what all those people look like while- They're sports ball... while we're actually doing the show, so now, now you're almost behind the scenes. Um, the- But not the smells. [laughs] Well, yesterday...
- 5:41Y- so yesterday I might find out if I got a six-week gig in Vegas. Oh. Starting- Nice... starting in early December. So then this will just lay fallow for another three months. [laughs] It's like, I just- Caveat emptor.
- 5:57Well, I just keep, like, pushing stuff and s- it's still the eBay empire that's happening here, too. Mm-hmm. Although, that can now move into the other room on Acana. It's not 900 degrees in the shop area anymore.
- 6:10So maybe I'll get that done before I leave. Just in my- Still gorgeous ride's over... if my overdressed body is at the 500 degrees. All right. I'm dressed for it to be, like, 40-ish degrees- Right... and it's not. No.
- 6:20It's actually quite pleasant. Tomorrow's gonna be back up to almost 70. I, I'm wearing fleece-lined- Yeah [laughs]... knickers right now. As am I. I haven't even found my stuff yet. I think I have a box called head,
- 6:32feet, and body or something like that, that has all my winter stuff in it for riding. Not dismembered body parts.
- 6:39[laughs] Dismember, no, that's just- [laughs] Just- It's, like, vests and, and whatever, you know, wool, wool jerseys and whatnot. But,
- 6:46um, that, uh, just, uh, thinking about how little I've ridden this year, that, uh, Biketoberfest was, ended up being, like, 35 miles or something? Thir- Yeah Yeah. Our... Yes. It was like- Our, our ride. Yeah. Yes.
- 6:58It was, like, my second longest ride of the year. I feel kind of bad about that. [laughs] But- Yes, because we do a- Frequency is more important... a bike ride to get to the bike ride. Right.
- 7:06And then- Or half of the bike ride is to get to the bike ride, then we do the bike ride. And then you have to come home. And then there's the continuing of our initial bike ride to finish the bike ride.
- 7:13It's kinda like almost three bike rides, but- Yeah. Yeah... you know. One with a break to do a bike ride in the middle of it. Right. Exactly. Right. Yeah.
- 7:19Then you have a break at the end- I, I was, I rationalized that-... and then you go home... and I was at peace with it. Yeah.
- 7:23And, you know, I, I did a very, very good job of not drinking more than one beer at most stops. And- I did not. [laughs] Yeah, well, you left early-ish. I did-ish.
- 7:36I, I did tell Wendy I would be home at 3:00 AM knowing how these things kinda go. Yes. Yeah. I saw Wendy yesterday. Oh, yeah? In Grafton. Oh, at the Costco? And we were, we were at the Costcos. Costco. We love you.
- 7:47Costcos. Costco. So I... But here's the- We love you... but here's the cool thing. Welcome. I was 15 minutes early. We love you. Nice. Yeah, I think it was, like, a good hour early. Ish. Maybe.
- 7:55I said, uh, I said, "I told you when I got home." She, "But you were sleeping." So I said, "Okay. Well..." [laughs] Well, I was also sleeping.
- 8:03It, it did turn out, um, it, it was a better experience the next day than last year. Oh, oh, absolutely. The next day. I was not that bad. But yes, definitely, and I do feel, um... I mean, I miss Billy.
- 8:14Billy always has the best rides, but, you know, uh. Well, to be fair, there was a good... Well, I don't know if it was good. Zito didn't do the ride 'cause Billy wasn't there.
- 8:23That's, I, that was in my notes for the, for the show. I see that. We didn't have Zito. But yes, what perfect weather that was. And- Oh, yeah, yeah... and I just, I nailed what to r- wear for that ride. Mm-hmm.
- 8:35It wasn't, like, 70 degrees, it was, what? 45 or something. Mm-hmm. Yeah. No, it's very... And light wind, nothing too insane. Yeah. Yeah, I was, like, right in the sweet spot.
- 8:44I just had brought a couple extra light layers just in case, out of- Yep... 'cause I suck at this time of year. Yeah. Great company, and there were so many great people to see. Yeah, it was a- Oh, yeah...
- 8:55it was what, you think? Like, 60 people- That's a-... ish?... good number. Yeah.
- 8:59I noticed that, uh, the tweed ride, which happened earlier in the day, which I had in the back of my mind like, "Oh, that would be cool to do that, too," and then no. No, I've done that.
- 9:07I, I, I double dipped one year and it- Yeah... killed me the next day. Well, whomever did- [laughs]... did, did the reporting on the ride said there was a handsome group of 33 riders. Jaunty. Yes, handsome and jaunty.
- 9:20Yes, yes. Started at Hollander on Downer. Uh, they had a exclusive BOGO there. Huh. We should do that for the Steel is Real, get them to do buy one, get one. Come on. Come on.
- 9:31Um, they covered 12 and a half miles- We could warn 33 people... of beautiful Milwaukee scenery entering, end- ending back at Hollander for more beer, so. [smacks lips] I mean- Yeah, it's a fun ride.
- 9:39I've done it a few times. Mm-hmm. That would've been a 50-mile day. That would've been pretty fun. Yeah. But didn't happen. And hurting the next day. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
- 9:48Oh, by the way- It shows number three, three, three... this is Full, Full Spectrum Cycling 339 is the- 339... is the actual number... three times three equals nine. Is nine. There you go. That's, uh, that's JK there.
- 10:00Yes, it is. That's the side of Tony's face. Oh, that's the front of Tony's face. Hello. You got, uh, you got shadow. I gotta get some light under you to light your mug from below. Oh, I'd like to be lit from below.
- 10:10[laughs] I'm Sven. How's it going? You know, I just wanna throw in here real quick that on Thursday, previous Thursday, Daniel was six, and on Friday he was seven. Oh, yeah. Six, seven. Oh, dude. Oh.
- 10:28Still rolling that out. I'm gonna try to milk the hell out of that. [laughs] Uh, also this is Mike's Country Meats here, uh, jerky. If you hear some slopping and, and slurpy sounds- Yeah...
- 10:39it might be because- I finally got to Held's... this stuff, well, this is the teriyaki version. Mm-hmm. But this is full muscle jerky, it says so right here on the bag. Yeah. And it's really juicy.
- 10:51It is pretty darn good. So they sell that at Held's now, not Held's own version.
- 10:55Did not see any of Held's versions, but I do think that this tastes, I will dare say, exactly like the Held version, so maybe they were just re-bagging it. 'Cause they are a wholesaler. Yeah. Okay.
- 11:08You go to their website, you can buy a pound of this. [clears throat] Well, we could do that. 40 bucks. Sell it on rides. [laughs] Right? Or just have it on rides. Uh, yeah, so well, that is a good thing.
- 11:23Also, uh, because of the Brewers and their World Series ambitions- What?... I went out to, I went out to Waukesha for, uh, Tommy Held's band was playing out there. Speaking of Held's. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. Da-da-da.
- 11:38Yeah. ACME. Yeah, yeah. It's called the ACME Rock Band, apparently- Yes, it is... apparently the full name.
- 11:43So he, they played at 3:00 PM instead of the scheduled 7:00 PM because of the Brewers game, which was good, 'cause I met my buddy Steve out there that I haven't seen in a long time. And as I was leaving,
- 11:55pulling out of my parking spot in downtown Waukesha, right behind me goes Ronsta on his way to the bike, whatever the W- Waukesha bike ride thing they do. Oh, Bikesha? Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:05With the, with the costumes, and he had some big ears that were like- Who is it? Ron Stawicki Oh, okay. Ron Sta. Ron Sta. Yeah, the DFL got out there. I saw that.
- 12:16He's been pretty active on the old, uh, Justin Timberlake. I saw how Justin Timberlake [laughs] had a pretty drunk evening at one of the Brewers games too. Yeah. Uh-oh.
- 12:25Was he one of the guys standing on the seats looking through the windows trying to- Yeah, I don't know. They w- they were there, 'cause I saw him watching it on his iPad.
- 12:31Yeah, he was grilling right out- right outside there. [laughs] Yeah. Like right on the sidewalk, which was nice. Yeah. So. Uh, speaking of sidewalks, in order to get there from Dave's you kinda gotta go up a hill, right?
- 12:42[bell ringing] Ding-a-ding-a-ding-a. Oh, hey. Clever, clever you guy. Look at you. I better finish my beer from next door then. I'm thirsty so I'm... You figure out how that works without spilling all those on the floor.
- 12:54Again. [laughs] Again. So yes, in the, in the holiday spirit I couldn't find anything baseball- Throwball...
- 13:09related or adjacent apart from our last one, which was Barrelman, which still good. Well, this appears to be, at least by description, along the same veins as a, as an am- that's an amber ale.
- 13:22This is more of a lager I guess. Right. Right. Yeah, but- So we're coming up on the holiday-... with salt and lime added. It feels cold. Yeah. Um- For a five-hour, uh, quick
- 13:35blast and then the last freezer for a half-hour... thanks to the Angry Sicilian we have these fine IBEW Local 494 koozies. You know what I hate about goddamn- [laughs]... free nice koozies?
- 13:50Beers take forever to get into them? So- Yes. They get- Uh, I think it was during one of the World Series games or some...
- 13:56I don't remember what even happened, but for some reason he'd left his phone at one of the bars we were at. So I had to go- I can't take it... take it home to him.
- 14:05And y- y- you know, you've been in his barn before, haven't you? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, it is an old horse barn that's in the middle of m- the east side of Milwaukee.
- 14:15And you know, it's, it's, it's very, um- It's cool as hell. [laughs] Very urban. And it's cool. It's like from the 1890s or something. What's cool about hell? In the afterlife. Oh, that's a good song.
- 14:25Is that, uh, is that by Dia de los Muertos? Uh, allegedly it is kind of an abbreviated good beer. Yeah. Instead of cerveza it's just besa. Yeah. Buena besa just mean- Good beer... means goodness.
- 14:39Good beer It's actually pretty good. Yeah. It's way better than I was guessing. Well, no. And just so you know, it's vegan. It says it right there. Vegan. I like the- Like a Las Vegan? I like the artwork.
- 14:50These, these limes almost- Yeah... look like bicycle wheels on there. Yeah. But I figured as in the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, AKA my anniversary. Oh, yeah. That's right. What are we looking at now? Four years? Two.
- 15:07Same th- It doesn't seem like four years. [laughs] No. Um- No, no. It just, uh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, no. Yeah. No, yeah. Yeah. No, no. Yeah. Yeah. I, I, I again missed a free screening of
- 15:22Hell No, Yes What, or whatever the, whatever the TW Hanson movie is called. [laughs] Oh, right, right. It was a- I just realized he, TW Hanson's married to that, um- Meneé... is that Meneé? Yeah.
- 15:33The, the bartender from Jamo's? Just the singing bartender. Sometimes. I don't know. Sh- um- She was- Well, she was at Uptowner and she does- For a bit, yeah... I mean, but- When I was. [laughs] But yes.
- 15:42But she sings a lot. Okay. Singing all the time. No, 'cause I swear she was working at Jamo's for a while. Could, could be. I, I- And it threw me off. I go, I go there so rarely now.
- 15:51Yeah, 'cause she's from Hawaii or some shit? Mm. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe. If we're talking the same person, I think we're say- I mean, I don't know... I'll, I'll show you a picture later.
- 15:57Unless she has a damn doppelganger, which is not un- unheard of in this- In the Milwaukee bar scene... no, it's totally not. Ahem. But yeah, this actually works out nicely. Mm-hmm. Try it with a- It reminds me-...
- 16:09Cajun spicy stick... it reminds me of getting the Mex Fix over on the Brady Street. Does, it's, uh, what the, uh, the slight lime and the coconut?
- 16:17Well, it, you know, they give you the shot of tequila and then whatever Mexican beer is happening for that. Well, there's a hint of c- And they nor- and they normally give you-... there's a hint of lime in there...
- 16:27they give you the lime and- And a little nice taste of salt. Well- Excuse me... I'm getting all that from this thing. Well, there's that too. And then I put, then I, then I take that lime and I put it in my beer.
- 16:36And then so that kinda is doing it without the actual thing. So it's artificially doing it. [laughs] Yeah. Way to go, Stone. Oh, it's from Stone Brewing. Good job. And they, where the hell are they?
- 16:48It's, it's, uh, aren't they in- California. Encino I do believe. Ah. Well, darn good job 'cause this is available nationwide. Yeah. It's better than I thought it was- It's, it was-... it was gonna be...
- 17:00it's way better than I thought it was gonna be. And when I looked it up- And it's lightweight... then, then I, then I saw that it said salt and lime- 4.7...
- 17:04and I'm like, "Ooh, that might not land right [laughs] on some people's palates." No. It's not bad. I like it. It's also, yeah, it's a, it's a- Better than the cream ale I was getting before... it's a balmy 4.7. Mm-hmm.
- 17:15Mm-hmm. Have you guys- Yeah, there's nine more innings. [laughs] There's nine innings to deal with. Yeah. We still have, we still have some time before the, the last game of the World Series, you know? Yep, yep, yep.
- 17:25Uh, have you guys ever vibe coded anything yet? Mm-mm. [laughs] I, I don't know exactly what it is either. I get the idea of it. I've heard of the name. Sounds dirty.
- 17:34It's just using AI to code for you, which it's very good at, and there's a dude that made- Oh, so it's code... it's just a cool...
- 17:42I don't know if you guys checked the actual link out, this shifter.info bike-rideable-days thing. Yeah, I did. Yeah. You said, uh, what was your number? Like 360- Three or one day less than the full year, 364.
- 17:55Yeah, mine was like 360. It just takes into account w- what the temperatures are, what the rain's like. What you're willing to ride in. What you're willing to suffer through to ride your bike. Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:04I got 360 I believe was the number. As soon as I saw it I'm like, "Oh, I know what my number is." [laughs] Yeah. It's clever though. I think, um, you remember we had, uh, Joe-... uh, Joe Finney on the show. Mm-hmm.
- 18:17He did something similar for running The what to wear. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, but that he actually code- he didn't use any fancy AI stuff. That was, that was all Joe tapping away with his fingers and stuff.
- 18:29Now, I don't know if he'd do it the same way [laughs] or he just goes- Right, right. He might ask AI to- Yeah, why not? Yeah. Why not save some time, um, and let it do that for you?
- 18:38I wonder what they call AI in Portuguese. What is AI? [laughs] Well, AI is pain in Portuguese. Ai. Oh. It's pain. Oh. That's like ow? I'm on the 90% sure I'm going to Portugal over the holidays. Nice.
- 18:55These coming holidays? Yeah. Oh. Uh, my daughter's going there in, within a couple of weeks for, I believe, 10 days. That's- I think they're doing, I think they're doing Spain and Portugal...
- 19:06if you're buying, if you're spending the money to get the airfare, stay as long as you can. I don't think she- 'Cause it's gonna be the most expensive part... I don't think she can.
- 19:11She's got a break between shows, and it's like- I, yeah, I-... "Let's go." That's what I'm getting at, though. Yeah. Yeah. It was funny 'cause new boss had said like, "Well, it's not like you're gonna be, uh, in..."
- 19:20She said, somewhere, uh, you know, for three weeks or something like that, and I was like, "Ah, funny you mention that because it just came up in conversation, so I might be gone for two weeks in Portugal."
- 19:30[laughs] She's like, "Uh, but, uh, but, uh, uh..." I'm like, it didn't matter. Well, you've got, you've got some time. [laughs] You gotta, gotta burn that time or you- There, no problem burning it. It's just,
- 19:43oh, what will they do without me, kinda. Not really that that's it. It's just, it's a- But that's it. Yeah. It's, I don't give a... Again, I, I'm learning to let go a lot in, in my new position. Yeah.
- 19:56'Cause people want to do my job, so I let them. [laughs] Nice. I'm like, whatever. I don't have to justify my damn existence. Apparently, you do. No. So here, here's a little one of my tasks. Have at it. Go ahead.
- 20:11But don't- Sorry... but don't be, don't be calling me to the carpet 'cause I'm doing you a damn favor there. Yeah. Not gonna put you out by name. Right. Call you out.
- 20:19Here's, here's some, uh, February and March news just so you got it in the back of your mind. In case we [laughs] fall off. Frostbike is back, February 25th to 27th in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the old QBP mothership.
- 20:33Isn't that the same weekend as Frostbike? That is the same weekend as Frostbike. Wowee. Coincidentally enough. Jesus. [laughs] Uh- It finally works... it is- It's finally landed...
- 20:42it, it is, however, not the same weekend as the Fatbike Birkie- Mm... which is a couple weeks later on, on, on m- m- March 13th. And if you- Happy birthday...
- 20:51if you tap the registration keys before November 12th, you can get in there for 80 bucks. $80 to ride your bike in the snow. Mm-hmm. Just saying. Okay. [laughs] If you want to- Can't we just go to port and ride? Yeah.
- 21:07Yeah. I don't know. I haven't, I haven't paid to ride in the snow for a long time. But it's the, uh, camaraderie. Yeah. Silver Lake with he who should not be mentioned.
- 21:17I go, well, I go up to the Birkie, and I mill about and take photos and do a little riding on stuff that's not the actual Birkie race course. But,
- 21:26you know, it's more of a, what's more of a n- it's, it's a, it's a- Social... it's a get together. Yeah. Yeah, it's a social thing. Yeah. The old Sawmill Saloon up there and- Mm-hmm...
- 21:34hanging with Sealy Dave, who, by the way, just did a, I think four days something something on, in the Bayfield Peninsula, which is like a bike packing trip, but on fat bikes. Mm. 'Cause it's very sandy up there,
- 21:47and recommended that fat bikes would be the best way not to not enjoy part of the whole thing. Mm. Not to not, not. He did it with Andy the Bike Farmer- Mm...
- 21:58and another feller whom right now's name, guy, person that I cannot recall, but hopefully we'll have a little, uh, writeup on the old fatbike.com from those guys.
- 22:07What, uh, what kind of fat bike does Andy the Bike Farmer ride? He somehow acquired a Carver. Oh, wow. Okay. 'Cause he went out to Maine and rode with some people and somehow...
- 22:17And it was a fat bike trip, so he was like, "Oh, I'm not a fat bike poo-pooer anymore," 'cause he was kind of a poo-pooer of fat bikes, and said, "These are the greatest things in the world," and now he has a Carver, so.
- 22:29Hmm. Um, and they're, uh, you know, that's, that's still a good bike, and it's been updated. I kinda looked at the specs. I think they're sort of in the modern era with the UDH hanger and all that stuff, so. Right on.
- 22:39Right on. There is a video on the old, uh, f- YouTube that Andy did. I'm sure he explained what, about the bike and all that business, which I haven't watched yet. Uh, so that, so you got that to look forward to. Yeah.
- 22:54Uh, what's... Oh, here's something too. Uh, people have been doing a little, a little, uh, using of the Fat Bike Lab, the community we have. Yeah. I sent some stickers out.
- 23:05W- uh, I don't know how stickers take a month to get to Scotland or m- somewhere in the UK. Thanks, Obama. They did. [laughs] But I also- Wait. [laughs] That doesn't work anymore, does it? Yeah. [laughs] Mm.
- 23:16It's trying to. It, it still works. It's trying to.
- 23:19Um, uh, there's also a lady, I think she's in the Yoopers up there somewhere that just sent a couple pictures in of the fall foliage, and it's got one of nicefatbike.com stickers right there on the bike. Nice.
- 23:31So if you're not already in that fat bike community, there's a link in the show notes. You could check that out. And you should. Yeah. Why not? Why the heck not? Uh, remember that bikes on the bus thing we've been doing?
- 23:45Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I'm think, I, I'm thinking I'm just gonna start a whole nother show and- Bikes on the bus... make that a... Yeah, just, I mean, like, I don't know if I can make it happen for this show.
- 23:58I'll send a, I'll send a note out and see if we can, but there's a guy named Patrick Wolf coming to X-Ray Arcade on November 12th,
- 24:04who at least in the past has expressed how much he, he likes b- cycling and that he normally rides a bicycle, so he's on his own speed, you know? Mm-hmm. Yeah. And just- Legit. Legit...
- 24:16you know, he just contrasted the independence of cycling with the frustrations of planes, buses, and traffic jams.
- 24:22So I had no idea who he was- Partly because he did have some work in the early 2000s, then had some, you know, normal rock star problems, and then took 10 years off and just came back again. Fair enough.
- 24:34So, um, I, I- Yeah, I wasn't very familiar, no... I listened to some of the music while I was working, uh, on the computer today, and it's, it- it's good working music.
- 24:45It, it doesn't, like, r- take a lot of your attention to, [laughs] to have it in the background. Gotcha. Yeah. Um, he's basically a singer-songwriter type. Mm-hmm.
- 24:53But, uh, I'm gonna look into it and see if he's still rides today. I don't know. Well, we can... You know, in the worst case, I go down to the show and start pestering him, "Hey." Hey. Hey. Hey. You wanna ride a bike?
- 25:01Hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, what's up? You like bikes? So- [laughs] You like bikes? Hey, hey. I, I was at Nessun Dorma, a local- Nessun Dorma... a- Wow...
- 25:12fine River West establishment- I should run you down now [laughs]... with, uh, with Eric Ebart. Ah.
- 25:18And it was a Thursday night, and it was happy hour, and Molly joined us with Daniel, and we sat outside, and this group of young people came and tried to get a table, and there was a wait.
- 25:29And, um, they were suddenly outside taking pictures of themselves, and I said, "You don't strike me as being from around here." And they're like, "No, we just set up for our show, and we're getting something to eat." Oh.
- 25:42And I'm like, "So you're playing at Falcon Bowl then, I'm guessing." And they're like, "Yeah." Not liniments. And not liniments. Um, and Daniel, of course, jumps in. He's like, "Well, what's your band name?"
- 25:55And he's got Molly's phone in her hand, in his hand, sh- and, and this fine, nice person said, "We're Ian Sweet." And Daniel looks him up on the, on the phone, like, "You?"
- 26:09And it has a picture of them, and I, of course, had taken a couple. And I had no idea who they were. Yeah. Um, I went home, YouTubed them, listened to a couple of songs.
- 26:18I'm like, "This is way better than I thought it would be." [laughs] And then I looked at- High, high praise from Tony... and I went and looked at, uh, the, uh, Falcon page, and they were sold out. [laughs] Yeah.
- 26:31And I'm like, I'm like, "Okay, I get it." So we listened to them all the way on the way to the wedding in- Well, you can poach... Fox Valley. And they're- You can poach... they're good.
- 26:38They're a fun, young, mid, the- Gobernas, sit in the bar... Ian Sweet is the stage name for one lady and then the back of her band, and- Were they in the main-... they have five albums released already. Oh, okay.
- 26:47So they were in the main bowl part, not the nest part. Yeah, yeah, they were- Yeah... yeah. So, yeah, yeah, so you go to the bar. Yep. And then you can hear them. Nice, young people. Yeah.
- 26:55Um- And so it's like, "Oh, it's pretty darn cool." Wasai Poach. Come on, Wasai Poach. Salad Sponge. And Daniel met his first rock band. Nice. Do either, either of you guys have one of these Knight Rider lights?
- 27:04Not that particular one, but- I have a Knight Rider... I have a Knight Rider. This is a Knight Rider 500. Guess what? This is what's- No, actually I don't. I, I did. I don't anymore...
- 27:11remember when I was on the ride, and I said, "Oh, I brought a ch- light that wasn't charged"? Well, it, not only is it not charged, but it apparently doesn't- It won't... I, but I re- Oh, the button broke. No, it clicks.
- 27:22Okay. Um, but I remember these having some silly lock system where you hold the thing down for 10 seconds or something, and I, I don't know if I don't have it figured out or it, it simply stopped working.
- 27:36That's- Give me that... quite possible... watch this. Yeah, go. Oh, they are a pain in the... You're right. They do have that weird- [singing] The, oh, whoa, whoa. No. Um, so anyway, yeah, I was trying to s- figure out.
- 27:50I haven't looked it up on the old interwebs yet, but there was a deal so that if it's sitting on a shelf at a shop, people can't just turn it on and leave it on the entire time. Yeah. Anyhow, so- Skullduggery...
- 28:04we'll figure that out, I guess It's a goner. [laughs] Thank, thank you, Doctor. Now I have to try. Doctor? Doctor. Just doctor, doctor, doctor. Uh, what else? So I think that's almost about it.
- 28:14We updated the fatbike.com events page. There's some, uh, there's some events coming up for your fat bikes types. And, uh, I did put the link into the Or Not jacket this week, Tony, in case you want it.
- 28:25I did, yeah, I, and I did look at. It's very nice. Yeah. Well, we'll see once one shows up here, hopefully. Nice. Um, have you said hi to Jen lately? Jenny? J- J- J- Jenny. Say hi, Jenny. Hey, Jenny.
- 28:38[laughs] I got your number. Drink up. 867- 5309... 5309. They're putting in a sauna. Oh, are they? Nice. I have to- Taking-... I have to find that clip again of Rick Springfield.
- 28:54He did like a, a, like a- Was there a pro- He did like a su-... like a PSA or something? No, he did like a supercut of himself and Tommy Tutone. Hmm. Well, during a concert.
- 29:06I mean, 'cause I've seen him live, and it's just foolish weird to watch. [laughs] But so, but if, you know, making fun of himself on that one- Corey Feldman weird? Eh, closer, but more relaxed and groovy. Okay. Yeah.
- 29:21I mean, just like, what? You're just sitting out there with your own little drum machine and a- [beatboxing] Yeah. Nice. But he did a, like a mashup of Jessie's Girl and, uh, Jenny 867- Ah... 5309.
- 29:39So he was able to, like, dance the lyrics back and forth and forth and back. [clears throat] I gotta find that again, 'cause it was- Yeah... I was, I was damn- That sounds fun...
- 29:48I was actually impressed, and I was like, "Shit, I'm actually impressed by [laughs] Rick Springfield." [laughs] Good for you. And I, and I, now it's on wax. Now I've, I've admitted it for the ages. All right.
- 30:00Well, as much as I'd love to sit here and banter all evening long- Yes, Jenny These guys- We're gonna take a little bit of a-... are gonna win... a little, we're gonna cut this one a little short today.
- 30:09Well, it's not really short. It's kinda back to the traditional half hour today, but- Mm-hmm... uh, go Brewers. Hopefully we don't have to talk about them again for the rest of the 2026 season for sure. We won't.
- 30:21I mean, uh, not on here. [laughs] Well, yeah. I mean, it'll be over one way or the other before we do the next show. Exactly. Better not fuck up Halloween. Which will be- All right. Whoa...
- 30:30second, second Tuesday in November, and I believe that we have- The Poovie Racing feller coming on the show Unless I win tickets to Jack White And let, well, you can go and then we'll still have- I know...
- 30:42the guy from Poovie Racing. I get to go. Those are, they can't be doing, still doing, trying to do those. What? Giving tickets. Jack White. They've been passing other- That was... No.
- 30:51If, if you, if you donate, it's the membership drive. Oh, you have a chance? Um- You have a chance. That's why I threw $20, $19.89 in Bill's show yesterday. What's the $19.89 significance?
- 31:06Because he's playing, uh, Fool's Gold by Stone Roses, and that was, like, my first batch of, uh, CD purchases- Oh, right on... back then in- Well-... the 1990s. Is it at The Landmark again? It is. It is. Yeah.
- 31:19That's why I was like, I'm like, "Hey, if I can win the tickets that'll be d- damn great." Whatever. But I mean, I'm not, I'm not holding- I'm your best friend if you win the tickets. [laughs] Well, that just came up.
- 31:30No, that just came- Well, you definitely don't want Kim to go. That- No. I would not appreciate it. No. [laughs] I'm all right. I, I, no.
- 31:36I, I, because that just came up, like, last, like, past couple days was the two-ish year anniversary of him playing down at Cactus and Vanguard- Yeah. And Rave. No one can get tickets 'cause we're not cool enough. Yeah.
- 31:50So I went down to Cactus and just sit, like, stood outside and listened, and it was great. It, you know, I mean, kids were putting their ears against the wall thinking that it was better. With the glass, with the glass.
- 32:00You're like, "Ooh." They were one step away from that. I couldn't believe it. [laughs] I was just like, "Shit, dude." Just sit and enjoy it. You're killing me.
- 32:06Well, and that was the, you- And then, uh, this sort of Steve Ro- Roche of the, uh, Underwear- Underwear Ride... uh, works a lot. And he helped somebody who was having a either panic attack or dehydrated to get out of...
- 32:24I mean- 'Cause it was packed. Yeah. It's Cactus Club. Well, it always is. It's Cactus Club. Any, yeah, any show is gonna be packed in the first place, and you put Jack fucking White in there. [laughs] Yeah. Of course.
- 32:33I was, uh- And that door opened and all these kids are r- ready to slam in, and they're trying to bring this poor p- human out and just be like, "Dude, get your shit together." And he was brilliant. Wow.
- 32:42Steve was great with that kid. Steve's got, he's got a really great temperament, for lack of a better term. Yeah. And he was just like- It sounds doggy, but no. He's just like, "Oh."
- 32:50He's just like, he can calm any situation. Yeah. Yeah. Love the guy. I was terribly- Love the guy... terribly impressed by that. It's like he has the needle and the heroin, he just... But verbally, not, not- No.
- 33:00It's like the- [laughs]... Young Frankenstein. [sings] Wow. Yeah. There, we, we'll work with that one better. All right, then. On that note. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. Well, let's do this again. Steve, man. Yeah.
- 33:10You're like doing methadone, dude. [laughs] It's- We'll do that, we'll do this again in a couple of weeks. Uh- All right. See ya, Jen. Bye. Bye. [air horn blares] [upbeat music] [laughs] Shit.
- 33:24[upbeat music] Those are the ones.
- 33:42Not too hot. Um, but
