- 0:38Speaker 2: All right. You know how the pop quiz works. The
- 0:40Speaker 2: first contestant guess is the number to the question. The
- 0:42Speaker 2: second says higher or lower. If we need a tight breaker,
- 0:44Speaker 2: we'll ask a toss up question. Either contestant can answer.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Donna in Saint Augustine, we start with you. Oh right, Yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 2: she was a little Angry in the nineties and it
- 0:53Speaker 2: sold her millions and millions of albums. Alanis Morrissett. It's
- 0:57Speaker 2: one of Megan's favorites.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I love her.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Alanis Morrisset. How old is she now, Donna? D? Is
- 1:06Speaker 2: she older or younger than sixty seven? Younger a little bit?
- 1:10Speaker 2: Fifty two fifty two? So D gets that point. Good job, D.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Welcome in the right direction, Nice shot. D. All right,
- 1:18Speaker 2: all right, D you get this question first? What percentage
- 1:21Speaker 2: of Americans have made a financial decision based on their horoscope?
- 1:28Speaker 2: D you? What number? What percentage of people have done that?
- 1:32Speaker 5: I'm going to say thirty eight percent?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Okay, Donna? Is that number higher or lower?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Higher?
- 1:40Speaker 2: No, the actual number is only nineteen percent. That low, Sorry, Meg, wow,
- 1:45Speaker 2: nineteen percent, Donna. Thank you for playing, but D's going
- 1:48Speaker 2: to be our winner today. Ay go all cylinders this morning,
- 1:53Speaker 2: Nice Shot with a pair of tickets to get down
- 1:55Speaker 2: to Universal Orlando. Awesome. Thank you guys so much. Grabbed
- 2:00Speaker 2: him more contestants tomorrow morning at a round seven ten
- 2:02Speaker 2: to play the pop Quiz for you with Country ninety
- 2:07Speaker 2: nine one wq I K it is the big show.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We go down to South Florida. Hear Facebook Marketplace. This
- 2:13Speaker 2: guy's on Facebook Marketplace and he's trying to sell some stuff.
- 2:16Speaker 2: You know, you never know, great deals on Facebook Marketplace
- 2:20Speaker 2: and all kinds of all kinds of things treasures, treasures
- 2:24Speaker 2: like moisture density gauge. What do you think that would
- 2:28Speaker 2: be for? Like something for a pool maybe or a yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 2: maybe your lawn. Okay, good idea. I'm afraid to find out.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Making sure the plumbing's not Lincoln, They're perfect. It's neither
- 2:40Speaker 2: none of the above. It's radioactive device that he stole
- 2:45Speaker 2: a radioactive device and put it on Facebook marketplace. Well,
- 2:49Speaker 2: investigators they're pretty quick to these things and they go, hey,
- 2:52Speaker 2: I don't think you should be selling that on Facebook marketplace.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So they found him. God him nailed him twenty thousand
- 2:59Speaker 2: dollars that moisture gate.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Wow.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, when they took him in Country ninety nine one
- 3:05Speaker 2: wq I K good morning. The big show getting bigger
- 3:08Speaker 2: here Chumley, John Megan and Froggy. Good to be with you.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It has gotten bigger.
- 3:13Speaker 4: It's like overnight we gave birth, got a whole new
- 3:16Speaker 4: crew here and it's nice to have Chumbley. If you
- 3:18Speaker 4: don't know Chumley's name, you probably know Chumley from down
- 3:21Speaker 4: the hall. He's worked here with us here at Iheartford.
- 3:23Speaker 4: How long have you been here in Jacksonville job.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I've been in Jacksonville since nineteen ninety eight. I'm a
- 3:28Speaker 3: North Florida native.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, so there are not many North Florida natives. But
- 3:32Speaker 4: we've got two, yep, right here on our show. So, Megan,
- 3:36Speaker 4: is ever anything we really need to know about Jacksonville.
- 3:39Speaker 4: We have two people that know everything there is now.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Which is just so cool because it's there's so much
- 3:44Speaker 5: to know about Jacksonville.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So I feel like we have two experts.
- 3:48Speaker 3: We're the bold News City of the South. Remember that, John,
- 3:51Speaker 3: What is that? That's our slogan there. The people don't
- 3:53Speaker 3: know it, slogan from back in the day. It was
- 3:56Speaker 3: when we were coming out of some dark times Jacksonville.
- 3:58Speaker 3: It wasn't always as beautiful as it is now, and
- 4:01Speaker 3: it came out of some corruption and all kinds of stuff.
- 4:03Speaker 3: And when they consolidated in nineteen sixty eight, they had
- 4:07Speaker 3: a whole new slogan, the bold New City of the South.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And then everybody went, yeah, maybe not, and then they
- 4:13Speaker 2: tried to change it to the City of Bridges. But
- 4:16Speaker 2: I think it's still the bold New City to the
- 4:18Speaker 2: South on the police seal there. Oh that's true. Yoh,
- 4:21Speaker 2: that's right, that's true. It is still on there. You
- 4:22Speaker 2: see it on the sheriff's cars. And then we went
- 4:24Speaker 2: to Florida's first coast, which was more of a tourism thing,
- 4:27Speaker 2: which is really cool because I mean, if you're not first,
- 4:29Speaker 2: your last, Plus we're adding Saint Augustine into our mix.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That's by doing that, we added Saint Augustine into our mix.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So that's cool.
- 4:36Speaker 4: I'm glad we're the first coast, not like the seventh coast.
- 4:40Speaker 4: What yeah, where are the others? But yeah, so we
- 4:42Speaker 4: are the first coast when it comes to h to Jacks.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Let's get into three things you need to know to
- 4:47Speaker 4: get you to your Jacksonville Tuesday.
- 4:49Speaker 2: What is going on? Man?
- 4:50Speaker 5: Well, yesterday there was an earthquake that came up from Cuba,
- 4:55Speaker 5: the Keys. They felt it here in Jacks. Some people
- 4:58Speaker 5: felt it. I think Chumbie didn't you say you know
- 5:00Speaker 5: someone who felt the shaky.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah, lady and Titus fill actually at work felt the
- 5:05Speaker 3: building shake, her desk move. They were feeling it in
- 5:08Speaker 3: Winter Park down there in Orlando as well. So yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 3: it was six point one on the Richter scale, which
- 5:15Speaker 3: is different than Florida. We have categories, you know for
- 5:18Speaker 3: hurricanes in terms of natural disasters. But yeah, six point
- 5:21Speaker 3: one apparently is a pretty big earthquake.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I'm glad we have Chumbley because you're now talking like
- 5:25Speaker 5: a scientist. We have John the weatherman, and you the scientists.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Putting the map in motion before we know it. And Frody.
- 5:32Speaker 2: You know somebody in Tampa they said, our iHeart people
- 5:34Speaker 2: in Tampa had some issues.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah, they're on the sixth floor in clear Water. They
- 5:38Speaker 4: had to evacuate the building this and the building was swing.
- 5:40Speaker 4: So NOWBM we're used to here in Florida.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Well, what we are used to is fast cars and
- 5:46Speaker 5: a lot of good country fun, which is right in
- 5:49Speaker 5: line with this new drag strip that's popped up in Callahan,
- 5:53Speaker 5: and it's next to a go kart track, So I'm
- 5:55Speaker 5: really excited about this. It's called hicken Power Drag Strip.
- 5:58Speaker 5: They're trying to open on the fourth of July, America's
- 6:01Speaker 5: two hundred and fiftieth birthday, and they were doing burnouts
- 6:04Speaker 5: this weekend, so it looks like they're right on track
- 6:07Speaker 5: to open.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I'm excited about that. We used to have a raceway
- 6:09Speaker 3: in Jacksonville. It's now the Airport Town Center. That's where
- 6:12Speaker 3: it used to. Yes, so we needed a drag strip,
- 6:15Speaker 3: So this is gonna be.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Nice, really cool.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Some lost treasure was found by students that are part
- 6:20Speaker 5: of the UNF archaeology team. They uncovered these ancient artifacts
- 6:24Speaker 5: and we haven't seen the pictures of them yet because
- 6:26Speaker 5: I'm sure they've got to do all their science stuff.
- 6:29Speaker 5: But it's really really cool over on the salt marsh
- 6:33Speaker 5: north of the Saint John's River.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Go U and F Hugh I K. This is the
- 6:37Speaker 2: NonStop Big Show Chumley, John Megan and Froggy and Chumley.
- 6:42Speaker 2: This is day one for Chumbley of the first of
- 6:44Speaker 2: the next ten thousand days. You know, my friends call
- 6:47Speaker 2: me chum.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Life is better with friends and just excited to meet everybody.
- 6:51Speaker 3: All the listeners make some new friends, and we'll have
- 6:53Speaker 3: that opportunity as we take the Big Show out to
- 6:56Speaker 3: Tide's Beach Bar and Grill, Hampton and Ocean Front this
- 6:59Speaker 3: coming Sunday. Get there at two pm. Another reggae on
- 7:02Speaker 3: the deck. But we have a national recording artist from
- 7:04Speaker 3: right here in Jacksonville, Matt Cooper's going to join us
- 7:07Speaker 3: and perform.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'm excited about him.
- 7:09Speaker 3: You know that guy can write songs, play guitar, play
- 7:13Speaker 3: drums and piano and saying do it.
- 7:15Speaker 2: All, Matt, not all at the same time. Now that
- 7:18Speaker 2: Country ninety nine one WQIK.
- 7:20Speaker 3: You know I'm new here, and we thought we'd start
- 7:23Speaker 3: a new segment today as well, with Froggy. Froggy this
- 7:27Speaker 3: is your feel good moment. We'll call it Froggy's feel.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Good it is. Everybody likes to feel good.
- 7:32Speaker 4: There's enough bad stories going around, so I thought we'd
- 7:34Speaker 4: just do something like a little feel good moment to
- 7:37Speaker 4: send you off and send you off on your day,
- 7:39Speaker 4: making you feel good. I like that, all right, So
- 7:42Speaker 4: today I want to say a story about a sixty
- 7:44Speaker 4: five year old veteran. His name's Tom and his best
- 7:46Speaker 4: friend was Jake. So Tom had been homeless for almost
- 7:48Speaker 4: two years. Think he's got so difficult that you had
- 7:51Speaker 4: to make the tough decision, the toughest decision of his life.
- 7:55Speaker 4: He tied Jake outside of Fort Worth, Texas fire station
- 7:57Speaker 4: with a note that said, I have.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Nothing but my baby.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Jake, if you have a soul and you really care
- 8:03Speaker 4: about helping babies, please help my baby. The firefighters did.
- 8:07Speaker 4: They adopted Jake as the station dog. But that's not
- 8:09Speaker 4: the end of the story. After hearing about Tom, local
- 8:12Speaker 4: outreach groups tracked him down, got a medical help, they
- 8:15Speaker 4: got nonprofit donated in RV. So we had a place
- 8:18Speaker 4: to live, and one heart breaking goodbye turned into a
- 8:21Speaker 4: community making sure both Tom and Jake had a second chance.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Tom didn't give up on Jake. He loved him enough.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Have either of y'all ever been to Vegas for our
- 8:31Speaker 2: iHeartRadio Music Festival? John in Vegas, not the festival, but
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'd like to go. I hear you. Thanks so much
- 8:36Speaker 2: for making us a part of your Tuesday the Big
- 8:38Speaker 2: Show got bigger with Chumley, John, Meghan and Froggy with
- 8:41Speaker 2: Country ninety nine one WQIK.
- 8:44Speaker 4: You know, so many times I realized that I came
- 8:46Speaker 4: along a little bit later than I should have in
- 8:49Speaker 4: this whole realm of things. So today Chumley was talking
- 8:51Speaker 4: about actually in Megan's Three Things, there's a new dragstrip coming,
- 8:55Speaker 4: and Trumley said, used to you could bring your own
- 8:58Speaker 4: car to a place in Jacksonville, like, just bring your
- 9:00Speaker 4: mom's buickless saber and you could race it.
- 9:04Speaker 2: You could have raced it against my mom's cutlass.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I saw somebody show up with a convertible Volkswagon Rabbit
- 9:09Speaker 3: and I don't know if they dropped a V eight
- 9:10Speaker 3: and that thing, but they were smoking everybody and nobody
- 9:13Speaker 3: can believe it.
- 9:13Speaker 2: It was awesome to watch Jack's Raceway. When did that
- 9:16Speaker 2: thing close with.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Back in the day, that's where the new Airport Town
- 9:20Speaker 3: Center is now there used to be the raceways.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah, see, I came along time.
- 9:25Speaker 2: It's a good thing.
- 9:26Speaker 4: My dad had a Mercury Cougar that had a four
- 9:28Speaker 4: Mustang GT.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Five to zero in it.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Oh buddy, and that thing would hault. You could lay
- 9:32Speaker 4: rubber down, you didn't even have to try. You could
- 9:34Speaker 4: peel out and that. It was incredible. I love the
- 9:36Speaker 4: taking that out there.
- 9:37Speaker 5: I would love to see something like that on a
- 9:39Speaker 5: quarter mile. I would love to it sounds like.
- 9:42Speaker 2: A dream come true.
- 9:42Speaker 3: My dad wouldn't trust me driving a car like that
- 9:44Speaker 3: when I was a kid, and rightly so.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, he gave me the rabbit too. Actually, I didn't
- 9:51Speaker 2: put anything in it. I had to push that thing
- 9:53Speaker 2: most of the time. I didn't take that out of
- 9:55Speaker 2: the Jack's Raceway either.
- 9:57Speaker 4: That's a cool story, though I didn't realize that we
- 9:59Speaker 4: used to have something like that, But it's so fun
- 10:00Speaker 4: and that just take your own car. There was a
- 10:03Speaker 4: speedway actually where I grew up in the Tampa area.
- 10:06Speaker 4: I think it was called Sunshine Speedway, and they would
- 10:09Speaker 4: have amateur night. You could bring your car and drive
- 10:11Speaker 4: it in circles around this thing, and the people would
- 10:14Speaker 4: come in there in there, like family cars, crash it.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And then they wouldn't have a car to go home. Then, yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 2: that's exactly what happened. Man, I'm not even a lie.
- 10:24Speaker 5: We used to do it illegally in the street, like
- 10:26Speaker 5: there was no strip or anything. We would just show
- 10:29Speaker 5: up all at one street every single week. And then
- 10:32Speaker 5: it was the same as what Froggy's saying, you had
- 10:34Speaker 5: to carpool on your way home.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That's crazy. Racetrack road is called racetrack road, I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: because that's what it used to be the drags. Absolutely,
- 10:42Speaker 2: it wasn't because there was a racetrack somewhere. It was
- 10:44Speaker 2: like that is a racetrack. Because the joke was, or
- 10:47Speaker 2: what we used to know as kids was like, it's
- 10:49Speaker 2: nobody's legislation, nobody's jurisdiction. It's between Clay County and I
- 10:53Speaker 2: mean a duvall in Saint John's County. So nobody can
- 10:57Speaker 2: pull you over. No cops can pull you over on
- 10:59Speaker 2: racetrack roads. Not true, not true, not true.
- 11:04Speaker 4: We always read the Book of Experience, you know, on
- 11:08Speaker 4: the side of lights, Megan's three things.
- 11:11Speaker 2: You need to know to get you to your jacks. Tuesday.
- 11:13Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 11:13Speaker 5: Something really cool is happening tonight. We'll be able to
- 11:16Speaker 5: see Venus and Jupiter both together in the sky.
- 11:20Speaker 2: And get this.
- 11:20Speaker 5: On Thursday, Mercury is going to join them making what's
- 11:24Speaker 5: called this is so cute a planet parade. So there
- 11:27Speaker 5: are different dark sky communities in Florida. The closest one
- 11:30Speaker 5: to us those actually in Georgia and Fargo. So if
- 11:33Speaker 5: you've got nothing to do, you got some vacation time,
- 11:36Speaker 5: maybe go check it out.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Just go get to a dark spot. If you can
- 11:38Speaker 2: find a dark spot, you see you can see that.
- 11:41Speaker 2: We went over to a pasture out there on the
- 11:45Speaker 2: West side and looked up when they had the last
- 11:47Speaker 2: planet parade, and it was really cool. That's wow.
- 11:50Speaker 5: If you felt some shaking yesterday, you're not going crazy.
- 11:52Speaker 2: You're not losing your mind.
- 11:53Speaker 5: There was an earthquake that happened in Cuba and we
- 11:56Speaker 5: felt it all the way up in Northeast Florida.
- 11:59Speaker 3: I never thought you could feel a hur earthquake in Florida.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That's shocking to me.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Apparently it was a six point one just just northeast
- 12:09Speaker 3: of Cuba, but they felt it all over Titusville, Central Florida,
- 12:13Speaker 3: Orlando Winter Park, and I guess some people felt it here.
- 12:16Speaker 5: At this point, I feel like you can expect anything
- 12:18Speaker 5: to happen in Florida.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:19Speaker 5: Let's talk a little bit more about the drag strip
- 12:21Speaker 5: we were talking about earlier when it opened. So it's
- 12:24Speaker 5: in Callahan, It's called Hickin Power Drag Strip, and it's
- 12:27Speaker 5: opening up the fourth of July. They've already been doing
- 12:29Speaker 5: burnouts in it, so it looks like they're right on
- 12:31Speaker 5: track to open.
- 12:32Speaker 2: That's gonna be fun. We needed a drag strip, well
- 12:34Speaker 2: you q I K. That's it for the first day
- 12:37Speaker 2: of The Bigger Show with Chumley, John, Meghan and Froggy.
- 12:40Speaker 2: But before we go, what did we learn this morning? Megan?
- 12:43Speaker 2: We learned all.
- 12:44Speaker 5: About our friend Chumley, how he's a native to here
- 12:46Speaker 5: in Northeast Florida.
- 12:48Speaker 2: We have a we both have dogs named Luna. All
- 12:50Speaker 2: about Chum and chum what rape minds think alike?
- 12:54Speaker 3: I learned from Megan's Three Things that and I missed
- 12:56Speaker 3: the Jacksonville Raceways ever since they built the airport Townsender.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But Hick and Pack the Big Show Extra sponsored by
- 13:04Speaker 1: Farah and Sarah, Here for you, Here for good,
