- 0:04Speaker 1: It is Miller time.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We're gonna do some light takes with KP talking about
- 0:08Speaker 2: the Blue Jays. Happy Opening Day to you, KP. It's
- 0:10Speaker 2: great to see you. And how fired up do you
- 0:12Speaker 2: think the Blue Jays fan base is for this coming season.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It's kind of the perfect storm. They didn't win, but
- 0:19Speaker 2: they came damn close. The team did not settle in
- 0:22Speaker 2: the offseason. They've locked in extensions for some of the
- 0:25Speaker 2: decision makers, and now they get to see it all
- 0:27Speaker 2: play out.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Well, first of all, what a perfect transition. You were
- 0:31Speaker 3: talking about average players. Here's one right here. Did all
- 0:34Speaker 3: the things off the field. You know, That's how I
- 0:36Speaker 3: made up the statistic called of war off the field war,
- 0:40Speaker 3: and mine was really high. You know, guys wanted to
- 0:43Speaker 3: drink at the bar. I was there. They want to
- 0:44Speaker 3: play golf. I was there, They want to fish. I
- 0:46Speaker 3: was there. But as far as the Blue Jays, I
- 0:49Speaker 3: think the fans got to be really exciting, excited for
- 0:52Speaker 3: opening Day. And I'm getting a chance to fly up
- 0:55Speaker 3: there tonight and be part of the opening Day for Sportsnet,
- 0:58Speaker 3: and I just want fans to remember that tomorrow's a celebration,
- 1:02Speaker 3: whether they win or lose. Tomorrow. I think they have
- 1:05Speaker 3: a lot to be proud of. They're gonna hang two
- 1:07Speaker 3: banners tomorrow. And yeah, I mean, they locked up their manager.
- 1:12Speaker 3: They locked up their their general manager for the next
- 1:15Speaker 3: five years, and the future has never been more bright
- 1:18Speaker 3: in Toronto. They got a superstar in Vladimir Guerrero Junior,
- 1:21Speaker 3: and they got a bunch of guys just scratching the
- 1:23Speaker 3: surface about to be found superstars.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Yeah, but shouldn't they panic? They're already behind the Yankees.
- 1:28Speaker 4: The Yankees already in first place, so shouldn't shouldn't they
- 1:31Speaker 4: be panicking?
- 1:32Speaker 3: KP one hundred percent. I think we should be scoreboard
- 1:36Speaker 3: watching right now. I think I honestly truly like joking aside,
- 1:40Speaker 3: I do believe, you know, on Bluebird yesterday we kind
- 1:43Speaker 3: of did kind of an al least kind of breakdown,
- 1:47Speaker 3: and I truly believe starting August first, scoreboard watching is
- 1:51Speaker 3: going to be happening because I think, you know, what
- 1:54Speaker 3: the Red Sox did this offseason, I think what the
- 1:56Speaker 3: Orioles did this offseason. I think the Yankees bringing back
- 1:59Speaker 3: some of their guys and ultimately getting Garrett coleback is
- 2:02Speaker 3: a game changer for them, And really, you can't never
- 2:05Speaker 3: count the Rays out. If it was any other team
- 2:08Speaker 3: and they didn't say rays across their chest, you maybe
- 2:10Speaker 3: count them out. But it's the Tampa Bay Rays. And
- 2:13Speaker 3: I truly think this division is going to be really exciting.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's gonna come down to the wire.
- 2:19Speaker 4: What do you have to say about the people who say,
- 2:21Speaker 4: wait a minute, Like two years ago, this Blue Jay
- 2:24Speaker 4: team was awful, So at this time last year we
- 2:27Speaker 4: were talking about the Jays is just kind of one
- 2:29Speaker 4: of the decent teams in the division. Maybe the Santander
- 2:33Speaker 4: signing is gonna be good. Clearly that wasn't a good
- 2:36Speaker 4: signing because he never ended up playing and other guys
- 2:39Speaker 4: stepped up. Is there a fear that George Springer has
- 2:42Speaker 4: a step back? Is there fear that Alejandro Kirk doesn't
- 2:45Speaker 4: have the same season or Vladdie doesn't have the same
- 2:48Speaker 4: season and they're just the middling three or four in
- 2:52Speaker 4: the American League East.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I think it's a realistic possibility. Absolutely. I mean, you
- 2:57Speaker 3: played for a long time, aj you played for a
- 2:59Speaker 3: long time, like baseball is the biggest mystery sport on
- 3:03Speaker 3: the face of the earth. Like I think in you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: like you know, an NFL quarterback is probably gonna be
- 3:07Speaker 3: pretty good, you know, Steph Curry's probably gonna make shots,
- 3:10Speaker 3: But hitting a baseball is so damn hard, like to
- 3:13Speaker 3: expect guys year in and year out to do the
- 3:15Speaker 3: same thing and to maybe take the next step and
- 3:18Speaker 3: then the next step, Like, yeah, it's definitely a realistic possibility.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You know, a year two years ago, this team wasn't
- 3:25Speaker 3: very good, and now we're talking about this team potentially
- 3:29Speaker 3: winning the AL East again and potentially winning the AL
- 3:32Speaker 3: and I think they're probably the most bet on team
- 3:35Speaker 3: to win the World Series right now too, So I
- 3:38Speaker 3: think there's a huge kind of gap for where this
- 3:40Speaker 3: team could be at. I think they could win a
- 3:42Speaker 3: World Series where I think they could finish third in
- 3:44Speaker 3: their division. I think that's also partly due to how
- 3:47Speaker 3: competitive the AL East is.
- 3:50Speaker 5: What do you make of the injuries?
- 3:51Speaker 6: Alrighty though you Savage down, Burrios down, sant Tender, we know,
- 3:57Speaker 6: down right, Jimi Garcia down. What do you make of
- 4:00Speaker 6: the injuries to start the year for the Blue Jays?
- 4:02Speaker 6: Do they have enough depth to cover all these all
- 4:04Speaker 6: these injuries of guys they're expecting to contribute a lot.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Well before all these injuries happened. We were sitting on
- 4:10Speaker 3: Bluebird Terry talking about who's gonna be their five starters?
- 4:13Speaker 3: Are they going to go with six starters. There was
- 4:15Speaker 3: also a time Max Schurz there wasn't in their rotation.
- 4:17Speaker 3: He was sitting at home as a free agent and
- 4:19Speaker 3: they went out signed him, and you're like, WHOA, Now
- 4:22Speaker 3: you have seven eight starters. You have all this depth.
- 4:25Speaker 3: But I think teams are gonna get tested with their
- 4:27Speaker 3: debt at some point throughout the season. It just happens
- 4:30Speaker 3: to be super early with the Blue Jays right now. Yes,
- 4:33Speaker 3: if someone wants to go down in that starting rotation,
- 4:36Speaker 3: I think their depth is going to be tested. And
- 4:38Speaker 3: I don't think there's a ton of depth kind of
- 4:40Speaker 3: after the five guys they have in the rotation right now,
- 4:44Speaker 3: at least proven depth. You know, going into spring training,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and once they signed Max Scherzer, you know Eric Glauer
- 4:51Speaker 3: was going to be their seventh starter. You know, now
- 4:54Speaker 3: he's pitching Game three of this series or the third
- 4:57Speaker 3: game of the season. So the depth is going to
- 5:01Speaker 3: be tested early, but all these teams are going to
- 5:03Speaker 3: go through it at some point or another. The blueges
- 5:05Speaker 3: happened to do it, you know, pretty early on in
- 5:07Speaker 3: the season, but getting give me Garcia is kind of
- 5:11Speaker 3: you know, it's going to be such a big deal
- 5:13Speaker 3: to them. I think he was the guy they probably
- 5:16Speaker 3: missed the most last year during their postseason stretch, because
- 5:19Speaker 3: when he's healthy and he's on, he's electric, and he's
- 5:23Speaker 3: the back of the bullpen guy that they really desperately need.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Injuries early in the year could be the first sign
- 5:29Speaker 4: of the most fearful thing people teams that go to
- 5:32Speaker 4: the playoffs fear World Series hangover. Do you see any
- 5:37Speaker 4: other thing that lingers like that besides pitching injuries and
- 5:42Speaker 4: the amount of innings that they threw because they pitched
- 5:44Speaker 4: an entire extra month.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I think if you guys listened to
- 5:50Speaker 3: John Snyder's initial meeting and he quoted George Springer, it's like,
- 5:53Speaker 3: this is the first time they've really had a bullseye
- 5:55Speaker 3: on their back. You know, they're they're being hunted. They're
- 5:58Speaker 3: not the hunter anymore. And as much as you want
- 6:01Speaker 3: to kind of go into spring training and pretend like, hey,
- 6:05Speaker 3: let's just do everything we did last year, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 3: we'll sneak up on teams and you know, it's about
- 6:10Speaker 3: us versus them. Everyone's going to give the Blue Jays
- 6:13Speaker 3: their best. You know, if teams have an option of
- 6:17Speaker 3: running out their closer back to back days, or they're
- 6:19Speaker 3: back into their bullpen back to back days, they're moving
- 6:21Speaker 3: guys up to face the Blue Jays to kind of
- 6:24Speaker 3: size themselves up. That's what they're going to face. That's
- 6:26Speaker 3: what the Dodgers have faced over the last couple of years.
- 6:28Speaker 3: That's what teams like the Yankees, you know, always have
- 6:31Speaker 3: to deal with. But I think there's also a reason,
- 6:33Speaker 3: you know, up until last year, there hasn't been back
- 6:35Speaker 3: to back World Series champions one. I think it's just
- 6:38Speaker 3: incredibly difficult to get to the World Series back to
- 6:41Speaker 3: back years, yet alone to make the playoffs multiple years
- 6:44Speaker 3: in a row. So the Blue Jays have a big
- 6:47Speaker 3: challenge in front of them, not just about being having
- 6:51Speaker 3: that bulls on their back, but it's just really difficult
- 6:53Speaker 3: to get back to the postseason year and year out.
- 6:56Speaker 3: So it's gonna be a big challenge for him.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Hey, with seakeek, we're looking ahead at games, So let's
- 7:02Speaker 2: look at the weekend.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Let's start with Friday.
- 7:05Speaker 2: What else do we have Cam Schlitzler is making his
- 7:08Speaker 2: season debut. We'll see if Luis Severino is the usual
- 7:12Speaker 2: dude on the road versus at home. Kevin Gossman pitching
- 7:15Speaker 2: in that game for Toronto. Chris Sale will pitch for Atlanta.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Sandy al Contra on the mound for the Marlins against
- 7:22Speaker 2: the Rockies. Atlanta, by the way, is playing the the
- 7:26Speaker 2: Royals on the weekend. Here that includes what's your game?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Do you know who's pitching?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Oh?
- 7:36Speaker 2: No, they've started to lay them out.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Are good?
- 7:44Speaker 4: The matchups are good because it's all the best starting
- 7:46Speaker 4: pitchers going against each other. But like the team matchups Pirates, Mets,
- 7:52Speaker 4: not a lot of fight in, you know, not like, oh,
- 7:54Speaker 4: you know, we're really banging heads here, Twins Orioles, White Sox, Brewers.
- 7:59Speaker 4: It just feels like I wanted to look down the
- 8:02Speaker 4: list and go, man, I'm seeing all these all these
- 8:06Speaker 4: number ones on the mound, and I'm like Red Sox, Reds,
- 8:10Speaker 4: like what Rangers, Phillies, they have a long history of
- 8:14Speaker 4: what opening days like. It just feels like a weird,
- 8:17Speaker 4: weird mishmash of teams.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I agree, some make sense, some don't.
- 8:22Speaker 2: By the way, AJ's game on Saturday is Waka against
- 8:24Speaker 2: Ronaldo Lopez.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it'd be good. Yeah, two good good names. Walka's
- 8:30Speaker 5: teammate Ronaldo. Yeah, Villa was.
- 8:33Speaker 1: He didn't really pitch last year.
- 8:34Speaker 5: No, but they said his Villa was down the spring.
- 8:36Speaker 5: So we'll see. We'll find out together. But I can't
- 8:39Speaker 5: wait to go to the Atlanta. It's gonna be fun.
- 8:41Speaker 6: See Vinnie, see Jack, see a bunch of the Royals,
- 8:45Speaker 6: and then see a bunch of braves, people that I
- 8:47Speaker 6: know from from a long time ago.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Code for you if you want to go to any
- 8:51Speaker 2: of those games that we're talking about. Territory one zero

- 9:13Speaker 2: so look for the best values. They help you out
- 9:15Speaker 2: with that. Hey, I want to get into a couple
- 9:18Speaker 2: of topics that you've hit recently on Bluebird Territory. Also,
- 9:21Speaker 2: I want to let our audience know that right now
- 9:24Speaker 2: while they're watching, if they can throw a subscribe on
- 9:26Speaker 2: the show, that'd be cool, since you guys are at
- 9:27Speaker 2: nine hundred and ninety one subscribers and the thousands of
- 9:31Speaker 2: cool number. So let's see if we can get there
- 9:33Speaker 2: in the next five minutes before this segment ens. Okay,
- 9:36Speaker 2: KP first one from the show. It seems like I
- 9:39Speaker 2: don't remember if it's you that I was listening to
- 9:41Speaker 2: or someone else on the show was pretty high on
- 9:43Speaker 2: the Orioles.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So who was that?
- 9:45Speaker 2: And if so, I feel like you have to play
- 9:47Speaker 2: the elimination game, Like, if you like the Orioles and
- 9:49Speaker 2: you think they're going to make the playoffs, you've got
- 9:51Speaker 2: to pick a team in that division that's not going
- 9:54Speaker 2: to make the playoffs. Forget the raise, but of those four,
- 9:57Speaker 2: who is not going to make the playoffs?
- 9:59Speaker 3: Don't put me on the spot like that. Come on,
- 10:01Speaker 3: But yeah, it was me who was high on the Ools.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I think the Oriols have a lot of the same
- 10:05Speaker 3: ingredients that the Blue Jays had last year. They're being
- 10:08Speaker 3: slept on a little bit. They have a lot of
- 10:10Speaker 3: young talent, they have actually superstar talent on there. And
- 10:13Speaker 3: if you look at their five guys in the rotation,
- 10:15Speaker 3: do they have a legitimate ace, but they got five
- 10:18Speaker 3: very accomplished major league pitchers. They got Ryan Helsley in
- 10:21Speaker 3: the back end of the bullpen. They got Cano in
- 10:23Speaker 3: the back end of the bullpen. At some point they're
- 10:25Speaker 3: gonna get Felix Batista back in the bullpen too. I
- 10:28Speaker 3: love the signing of Pete Alonso. I believe he's gonna
- 10:31Speaker 3: lead the American or I think he's gonna leave major
- 10:33Speaker 3: League Baseball on RBIs. I think about that lineup they
- 10:36Speaker 3: built kind of around him. I love the addition of
- 10:39Speaker 3: Taylor Ward. He's an RBI machine too. He hit you know,
- 10:43Speaker 3: thirty plus homers last year in Anaheim. I think his
- 10:46Speaker 3: game is going to be elevated, getting out at Anaheim,
- 10:50Speaker 3: getting into a winning environment, being around a lot of
- 10:53Speaker 3: other really good players. I think they just have all
- 10:55Speaker 3: the makings. And if I had to pick a team,
- 10:57Speaker 3: that oo, man, if I had to pick a team,
- 11:01Speaker 3: and it's hard because last night that offense was so
- 11:03Speaker 3: good for the Yankees, but it just felt like without
- 11:07Speaker 3: Garrett Cole and without Rendon to start the year, it
- 11:11Speaker 3: felt like maybe they could fall behind and it would
- 11:14Speaker 3: be a lot for them to catch up. But the
- 11:16Speaker 3: way the offense. Look last night, they can run pretty
- 11:19Speaker 3: much anyone out there on the mound, and they're gonna
- 11:21Speaker 3: be able to win some games. So I don't really
- 11:23Speaker 3: know which one of those four teams is the odd
- 11:25Speaker 3: man out. I love what the Red Sox did in
- 11:27Speaker 3: the offseason two. I think once again, they got Garrett
- 11:30Speaker 3: Crochet kind of leading that pitching staff, Sonny Gray, you know,
- 11:33Speaker 3: they got Bryan Bello BeO, you know, and I think
- 11:37Speaker 3: they got two other really legit starters in that rotation.
- 11:40Speaker 3: They got a Roaldess Chapman at the back end of
- 11:42Speaker 3: the bullpen. I love a lot of the young talent
- 11:44Speaker 3: they have out there. And I know Alex Regman's not
- 11:48Speaker 3: there anymore, but I think his imprint is in that
- 11:51Speaker 3: Boston Red Sox organization. I think what he was able
- 11:53Speaker 3: to do and be around those young guys for an
- 11:56Speaker 3: entire year, I don't think that.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Leaves a right one more from me on the show.
- 12:03Speaker 2: So can you tell AJ and Kratz about your Ross
- 12:07Speaker 2: Atkins take, since you said on the show, like, hey,
- 12:10Speaker 2: it wasn't your favorite guy and now you're respecting the
- 12:12Speaker 2: work that's being put together by him in the organization.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I love being I love being at Toronto
- 12:18Speaker 3: Blue Jay, and you know, I was drafted and brought
- 12:20Speaker 3: up by a different general manager. The team was having
- 12:23Speaker 3: a ton of success. You know, we didn't ultimately win
- 12:26Speaker 3: a World Series, but we won a division. We got
- 12:29Speaker 3: to the Alcs back to back years. A new president
- 12:32Speaker 3: of Baseball Operation comes in, brings his own general manager in.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You know, he starts, you know, year after year, they
- 12:39Speaker 3: start kind of taking my friends and my teammates that
- 12:42Speaker 3: were part of those two thousand and fifteen and sixteen teams,
- 12:47Speaker 3: you know, and not re signing them or trading them off.
- 12:50Speaker 3: You know, fast forward a couple of years in twenty
- 12:53Speaker 3: nineteen and I get traded off. And yeah, I wasn't
- 12:56Speaker 3: super happy with him. Wasn't super happy with getting traded.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I wasn't super were happy with, you know, him kind
- 13:03Speaker 3: of stripping down something that I thought was special. And
- 13:06Speaker 3: you know, I'm a man of my word, and I
- 13:09Speaker 3: think I was definitely wrong. He had a vision for
- 13:12Speaker 3: the team long term. He knew he had guys like
- 13:14Speaker 3: Laudie and Bo and Calvin Viigio and a bunch of
- 13:17Speaker 3: these young guys in the lower minor leagues and ultimately
- 13:21Speaker 3: he made the right choice because he got a team to,
- 13:24Speaker 3: you know, four outs away from winning a World Series
- 13:26Speaker 3: and we're sitting here talking about the Blue Jays as
- 13:29Speaker 3: potential the beast of the Al East once again. And yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 3: you know, I got to give him a lot of credit.
- 13:36Speaker 3: He had to make some tough decisions. They weren't very
- 13:38Speaker 3: popular decisions with the players, and definitely weren't popular decisions
- 13:43Speaker 3: amongst the fans across Canada, but he made the right decision.
- 13:48Speaker 4: I'd be in your boat because I'm kind of disappointed
- 13:50Speaker 4: the fact that my roommate only got two years and
- 13:53Speaker 4: he got five years. Do you feel like there's a
- 13:56Speaker 4: little bit of a disconnect or is that like, hey, Schneis,
- 13:59Speaker 4: I know you did a good job, but this is
- 14:01Speaker 4: my team and I'll get rid of you at any point.
- 14:04Speaker 4: When I see those numbers, that feels like that's what
- 14:06Speaker 4: it looks like.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I was a little bit surprised by the five
- 14:11Speaker 3: versus the two. But you know, maybe, you know, a
- 14:14Speaker 3: general manager could still kind of have the idea of, hey,
- 14:17Speaker 3: this is the team we built right now, but he
- 14:19Speaker 3: can still have kind of have this vision of five
- 14:21Speaker 3: years out in the future, you know, about guys that
- 14:24Speaker 3: are coming up through the organization where a guy in
- 14:28Speaker 3: you know, the managerial seat still kind of has to
- 14:30Speaker 3: be in a much like a player. What have you
- 14:33Speaker 3: done for me lately? Right now? You've got to prove
- 14:35Speaker 3: yourself again and again and again. And ultimately that's the
- 14:38Speaker 3: direction that they felt was best for the organization to
- 14:41Speaker 3: give him some job security, but at the same time,
- 14:44Speaker 3: not this long term extension where you know, things don't
- 14:48Speaker 3: work out, they're eating money and having to fire him.
- 14:51Speaker 3: I was a little bit confused by it. I thought
- 14:52Speaker 3: he had done enough over the last couple of years,
- 14:56Speaker 3: not only in the success that they had had, and
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's been three out of four years they've been to
- 15:00Speaker 3: the postseason. I felt like the relationships he's built with
- 15:04Speaker 3: the players, especially a guy like Laddie who signed up
- 15:07Speaker 3: for the next fourteen years. He thought maybe he would
- 15:10Speaker 3: get the same sort of duration that Ross Atkins get got.
- 15:13Speaker 3: But that's kind of the decision that Mark Schapiro and
- 15:17Speaker 3: the Rogers family decided to go with the two year
- 15:21Speaker 3: deal with for him.
- 15:23Speaker 4: We saw a lot of theatrics last night in the
- 15:26Speaker 4: opening night of Baseball. Whether people like it or not,
- 15:30Speaker 4: you've been in different opening days at different stadiums, whether
- 15:34Speaker 4: you were the home team or the away team.
- 15:36Speaker 5: How does the Blue Jays.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Opening day rank in all their festivities and ceremonies rank
- 15:42Speaker 4: compared to the other teams that you run.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Man, it's a great question. I would say it's up there.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I mean, obviously the roof being close helped, so it's
- 15:51Speaker 3: very loud. But I will tell you there has been
- 15:54Speaker 3: a giant difference from twenty nineteen when I was there
- 15:57Speaker 3: to now, just with this stadium renovations, with you know,
- 16:03Speaker 3: the people behind the scenes running all these sort of
- 16:06Speaker 3: events you know got to witness. Then getting back to
- 16:10Speaker 3: the postseason, and it was night and day difference in
- 16:12Speaker 3: terms of like introductions for the postseason scoreboard, entertainment, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 3: all that sort of stuff, you know the last year
- 16:21Speaker 3: versus you know when I was playing there in twenty sixteen.
- 16:24Speaker 3: So I'm really excited to get up there and see
- 16:27Speaker 3: what they have in store, you know, revealing two banners.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And I know it's not a World Series championship that
- 16:34Speaker 3: they're hoping for, but an AL Lease championship and an
- 16:36Speaker 3: American League championship are something that the fans are going
- 16:39Speaker 3: to celebrate. I expected to be super lively, rocking, and
- 16:43Speaker 3: I expect them to put on a great show because
- 16:45Speaker 3: that's what the Blue Jays do.
- 16:48Speaker 7: KP.
- 16:49Speaker 1: We're excited. We'll see out there.
- 16:50Speaker 2: We'll be looking for you, and thanks for joining us, dude,
- 16:53Speaker 2: Happy Opening Day.
- 16:53Speaker 3: We're happy Opening Day, guys are.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Like takes with KP. Miller Light a big sponsor of
- 17:00Speaker 2: Bluebird Territory. Why not go grab some Millard like today
- 17:04Speaker 2: because game time is Millard time, must be legal drinking age.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Celebrate responsibly, Ryan Davis straining us right now, Ryan, happy
- 17:16Speaker 2: Opening Day or evening to you as it'll be out
- 17:18Speaker 2: in Seattle at night, so.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Set the scene for us.
- 17:22Speaker 2: How pumped are Mariners fans for this season compared to
- 17:25Speaker 2: the last few seasons.
- 17:27Speaker 8: I've been covering this team since two thousand and six,
- 17:30Speaker 8: and I have never seen a city or a fan
- 17:33Speaker 8: base more excited about a season than this year. There's
- 17:36Speaker 8: more anticipation. There's more excitement for this season than any
- 17:39Speaker 8: season I've had covering the beat. And it's a long
- 17:42Speaker 8: time now. This is my twentieth Opening Day, which is
- 17:46Speaker 8: kind of terrifying.
- 17:48Speaker 5: By the way, I know you're in the press box
- 17:50Speaker 5: at least.
- 17:50Speaker 6: I think you're in the press box in Safeco whatever
- 17:53Speaker 6: it's called now, it'd always be Safeco to me. Did
- 17:56Speaker 6: you get some popcorn? That's all I want to know,
- 17:58Speaker 6: because the popcorn in there, for some reason, is just
- 18:00Speaker 6: better than any other press box I've been in.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I don't know why.
- 18:03Speaker 7: Now I got here a little early.
- 18:05Speaker 8: I haven't. I'm like the first person here. It wasn't
- 18:08Speaker 8: planned to be here this early, but you know, Seattle
- 18:10Speaker 8: traffic and everything else, so they haven't put the popcorn
- 18:13Speaker 8: out yet. But yeah, it's addictive, like if you could
- 18:16Speaker 8: have beer. That popcorn is like the greatest thing ever
- 18:18Speaker 8: because it's salty and buttery, but it's not too much
- 18:22Speaker 8: in one way or the other. It's really it's really awful.
- 18:24Speaker 8: I eat so much of it throughout the season.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Every time I go to Seattle. It's like, I gotta
- 18:28Speaker 6: get some of the popcorn. And I don't know why.
- 18:30Speaker 6: It just tastes different. Maybe it's different corn up there
- 18:33Speaker 6: in Seattle. I don't know, but it's really really And
- 18:36Speaker 6: by the way, you can have a beer. It's opening day.
- 18:38Speaker 6: You can do whatever you want, right, But that's a
- 18:40Speaker 6: whole different thing. I listen, I love the Mariners team
- 18:44Speaker 6: this year. I love what they did in the offseason.
- 18:46Speaker 6: I love their pitching. Obviously, I'm picking them to win
- 18:48Speaker 6: the American League for the first time, to actually get
- 18:50Speaker 6: to the World Series. You mentioned the fan base, but
- 18:52Speaker 6: does that put more pressure on Dan Wilson and these
- 18:55Speaker 6: players or are they just immune to it now because
- 18:57Speaker 6: of how last year went.
- 18:59Speaker 7: You know, I mean it could.
- 19:01Speaker 8: I think you'd rather be picked, rather be picked first
- 19:04Speaker 8: than last in a lot of situations, but it can
- 19:07Speaker 8: put more pressure on them. I do think that, Like
- 19:10Speaker 8: one of the things that Dan is very good at
- 19:12Speaker 8: is being steady to the moment and not overreacting to
- 19:15Speaker 8: a three game swinger here or there, or even five
- 19:18Speaker 8: games where they may be playing poor. He's so kind
- 19:21Speaker 8: of like flatlined with how he acts. But I think
- 19:24Speaker 8: that gives the players kind of a calm to them.
- 19:28Speaker 8: And also, this team is so process oriented, Like I
- 19:31Speaker 8: know every baseball player tries to say that, but guys
- 19:35Speaker 8: like cal Rally and Brendan Donnov and Josh Naylor, Julio,
- 19:39Speaker 8: they're just kind of they're they're just so in tune
- 19:42Speaker 8: with the process that, like every day is about preparation
- 19:45Speaker 8: for the game. Like that's their focus. The game is
- 19:48Speaker 8: kind of like the gravy after they put in all
- 19:49Speaker 8: this work to be ready for it. So I don't
- 19:52Speaker 8: think that the pressure should be that much. But then again,
- 19:55Speaker 8: like what if they start off five and eight or
- 19:58Speaker 8: five and ten, will it?
- 20:00Speaker 7: Will it mount? I don't think so. It's a pretty
- 20:02Speaker 7: mature team.
- 20:03Speaker 8: And also this team is a team that seems to
- 20:05Speaker 8: always kind of play itself into a little bit of
- 20:07Speaker 8: trouble and then you know, rally late and kind of,
- 20:10Speaker 8: you know, come on strong towards the end.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Hey, Ryan, were there any potential extensions that we were
- 20:16Speaker 2: expecting for the starting pitching? You know, this team is
- 20:20Speaker 2: in a great place. Like you mentioned, they've put a
- 20:22Speaker 2: little into it. They saw finally what it meant to
- 20:26Speaker 2: add a guy like Gino, and really Naylor was the
- 20:28Speaker 2: big one last year around the trade deadline.
- 20:31Speaker 1: They keep Naylor, they add more like Donovan.
- 20:33Speaker 2: We're talking about all of this, but then we look
- 20:35Speaker 2: at the future and say, okay, are these starting pitchers
- 20:39Speaker 2: going to be here for the next five years plus?
- 20:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I haven't heard.
- 20:44Speaker 8: I know Jerry Dipoto had talked about engaging some extension
- 20:48Speaker 8: talks with some of his pitchers.
- 20:50Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 20:50Speaker 8: You know, obviously the obvious one would be Logan Gilbert,
- 20:53Speaker 8: but I haven't heard anything along those lines. You know,
- 20:56Speaker 8: he's the closest to free agency, and maybe that's to
- 20:58Speaker 8: makes him the most difficult to sign to an extension
- 21:01Speaker 8: because he is that close. You know, maybe Brian Wu,
- 21:04Speaker 8: who's in his first year of our be eligibility, is
- 21:07Speaker 8: a guy that's easier to sign to an extension and
- 21:10Speaker 8: extend through those arbers, which can be important, But we
- 21:13Speaker 8: haven't heard anything like that. Then again, like we didn't
- 21:15Speaker 8: hear anything about cal Rawley's extension until right up to
- 21:18Speaker 8: the day it happened, and you know, I know the
- 21:21Speaker 8: Mariners have looked at it. The one thing is is like,
- 21:25Speaker 8: you know, if you're Logan Gilbert and you see what
- 21:26Speaker 8: Dylan s Scott and some of those guys, Yes, free
- 21:29Speaker 8: agent sounds pretty enticing, but I think, you know, maybe
- 21:33Speaker 8: it's somebody like Brian Wu or George Kirby, but I
- 21:36Speaker 8: do think that that's something they have to address. The
- 21:38Speaker 8: one thing is is like they do have two young
- 21:41Speaker 8: guys in their in their minor league system, Kate Anderson
- 21:44Speaker 8: and Ryan Sloan. That makes the idea of losing one
- 21:47Speaker 8: of those guys to free agency, or if you're forced
- 21:49Speaker 8: to trade them because they're going to go into a walk. Here,
- 21:52Speaker 8: having those guys in the minor leagues makes a little
- 21:54Speaker 8: bit more. It's easier to stomach maybe losing one of
- 21:58Speaker 8: those guys eventually down the road.
- 22:02Speaker 2: AJ baseball season is finally here, and there's nothing like
- 22:05Speaker 2: listening to the sweet sounds of the game while you're
- 22:07Speaker 2: at home, enjoying some home cooking, whipping up a beautiful

- 23:00Speaker 2: this good, nothing hits like home cooking Ran.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Have we put the Randy because he's a free agent
- 23:05Speaker 6: right at the end of the year, Randy Rose Arena.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Have we put this to bed yet? To Cal Rawley,
- 23:09Speaker 6: Randy and Rose Arena, has this been officially squashed? Because
- 23:12Speaker 6: I know I was tired of talking about it, but
- 23:14Speaker 6: you know, now there's another press conference about how.
- 23:16Speaker 5: We're good, Like, is it finally done yet? Because I'm
- 23:18Speaker 5: over it?
- 23:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I hope. So.
- 23:21Speaker 8: I'm certainly tired of writing about it. I feel like
- 23:24Speaker 8: we've spent more words and time talking about it than necessary.
- 23:29Speaker 8: I think, yeah, I think they're fine. I never thought
- 23:31Speaker 8: they weren't fine, honestly, but I think from a perception standpoint,
- 23:35Speaker 8: what fan bases are asking, but the fan base is
- 23:38Speaker 8: questioning all that stuff. Having Randy come out make that
- 23:40Speaker 8: second statement because the first one wasn't so great, I
- 23:43Speaker 8: think helps kind of squash it. You know, I'm sure
- 23:47Speaker 8: there's still part of Cal that didn't like hearing what
- 23:49Speaker 8: Randy said after that game, And you know, apology is
- 23:53Speaker 8: words only, so like I think, honestly, the big thing
- 23:57Speaker 8: is just let's just get to the regular season.
- 23:59Speaker 7: And play baseball.
- 24:00Speaker 8: And I think that all that that kind of stuff
- 24:02Speaker 8: goes away. Randy's got priorities. This is his free agent
- 24:05Speaker 8: walk here. You know, he's going to try and have
- 24:07Speaker 8: a big season. Cal's got, you know, coming off one
- 24:10Speaker 8: of the greatest seasons a catcher will ever have. How
- 24:13Speaker 8: does he respond to all of this? So I think
- 24:14Speaker 8: it's pretty minimal. And you know as Aja, you know
- 24:17Speaker 8: as well as I do that like once the season
- 24:19Speaker 8: starts and the grind begins, you don't have time for
- 24:21Speaker 8: the drama. You're so busy just trying to get ready
- 24:23Speaker 8: to play every single night that the little stuff doesn't
- 24:26Speaker 8: come up. Now, Like if you you know, things go south,
- 24:30Speaker 8: people start playing poorly, you know, somebody is being in pain,
- 24:32Speaker 8: maybe it comes up. But for the most part, these guys,
- 24:35Speaker 8: you know, the culture they have in the clubhouse, it's
- 24:37Speaker 8: more about preparation and doing those little things. They don't
- 24:39Speaker 8: have time to worry about the drama that maybe you know,
- 24:42Speaker 8: used to be so written about in like places like
- 24:45Speaker 8: Boston and New York.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and you don't have to be best friends with
- 24:48Speaker 1: everyone either.
- 24:50Speaker 8: Exactly due you're not even friends with aj are you?
- 24:53Speaker 1: No?
- 24:53Speaker 2: Only Uh well, let's see we we on Mondays Wednesdays
- 24:57Speaker 2: and no.
- 24:58Speaker 5: One is right and that's the point.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Oh no, come on, ag, I know you've got the
- 25:03Speaker 8: good chemistry with Adam and and Wayne.
- 25:05Speaker 7: On those guys.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Come on now Saturdays.
- 25:08Speaker 6: True, yeah, I've I actually have a lot of friends, right,
- 25:10Speaker 6: and I just don't like to talk about it.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Saturdays is when he's my best friend.
- 25:16Speaker 5: That's Goldie. I like Goldie.
- 25:20Speaker 8: Goldie's great. Had a bad haircut, He's he's he's hurting
- 25:23Speaker 8: a little bit. They might have to put it opening day.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Wait, hold up, Goldie's hair is off for Opening Day?
- 25:28Speaker 7: Yeah it was. It was looking a little rough. He
- 25:30Speaker 7: got mad when I called him, I go, are you
- 25:32Speaker 7: going with the hag seth look? And he really didn't
- 25:34Speaker 7: like that one bit.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Whoa wow, Wow, I didn't. I didn't realize Goldie could
- 25:39Speaker 5: have a bad hair day.
- 25:41Speaker 7: It happens, how about who.
- 25:45Speaker 6: I know we're a little off topic here, but we're
- 25:46Speaker 6: gonna get to the TV stof so this fits perfectly.
- 25:48Speaker 6: But who is Goldie Stack guy during the year, because
- 25:51Speaker 6: does he still have Gee?
- 25:52Speaker 5: Have you met Gee?
- 25:54Speaker 7: No?
- 25:54Speaker 8: I haven't met Gee. I've met Alex. Mayer does a
- 25:59Speaker 8: lot there pr guy. He's really good with the numbers
- 26:02Speaker 8: and helps out Goldie a lot with some of the
- 26:03Speaker 8: intricate stuff. Gary Hill's pretty good as well, so you
- 26:07Speaker 8: know he got a few. And Aaron's a nerd by heart,
- 26:09Speaker 8: so he's on his iPad looking that stuff up a lot.
- 26:12Speaker 8: But you know he doesn't bring in his fancy guy
- 26:15Speaker 8: for the day to day games.
- 26:16Speaker 7: It's only no.
- 26:17Speaker 6: He brings Alex in when we do Fox. He has
- 26:19Speaker 6: Alex two games for him where he had Gee one time.
- 26:21Speaker 5: I think it was.
- 26:22Speaker 6: Somewhere he flew Gey in and I had never seen Gee,
- 26:24Speaker 6: so I didn't know if he was Seattle.
- 26:26Speaker 8: Only Alex is a savant on Baseball Reference and fangrafts.
- 26:32Speaker 8: It's like I thought I was pretty good at looking
- 26:34Speaker 8: up stuff, but I just have him do it because
- 26:36Speaker 8: he's way faster and way better at finding the stuff
- 26:39Speaker 8: I need.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Hey, so AJ mentioned it. Let's transition.
- 26:45Speaker 2: You tweeted a few times over the last few days
- 26:47Speaker 2: about the TV situation. I know the Mariners fans were
- 26:50Speaker 2: involved in this too, So what happened because I'm only
- 26:54Speaker 2: getting my take from like a national perspective, and also
- 26:57Speaker 2: like things seemed very secretive, But did it seems like
- 27:00Speaker 2: some deals were done and they wanted to announce them
- 27:03Speaker 2: all together to fans on opening day on where they
- 27:06Speaker 2: can actually watch the games on television versus getting the
- 27:10Speaker 2: streaming app.
- 27:12Speaker 7: Yeah, it was.
- 27:14Speaker 8: It wasn't handled well MLB. I don't think HANDLE did
- 27:17Speaker 8: well the fourteen teams under their umbrella of Major League
- 27:22Speaker 8: Baseball channeling, the distribution and the production rights. You know,
- 27:25Speaker 8: they didn't announce the channel lineups till essentially the full
- 27:28Speaker 8: channel lineups till today, and even that was evolving because
- 27:31Speaker 8: I was trying to, like, look, my parents in Montana
- 27:34Speaker 8: are trying to figure out what channel the game is on,
- 27:37Speaker 8: and like they were going to scrap their entire cable
- 27:40Speaker 8: system just to go to streaming because they were worried
- 27:42Speaker 8: that they weren't going to be able to get the
- 27:44Speaker 8: games because they didn't know, you know, and like there's
- 27:47Speaker 8: a lot of people like that, and I just it.
- 27:49Speaker 7: Was frustrating for a lot of fans.
- 27:51Speaker 8: I was getting daily emails what channels are the games
- 27:54Speaker 8: going to be on. Some people paid the ninety nine
- 27:56Speaker 8: dollars for the streaming fee, thinking that was attached to
- 27:59Speaker 8: their cable, and the Mariners have been really cool about
- 28:02Speaker 8: saying they'll refund that money for people that were confused
- 28:04Speaker 8: by the situation.
- 28:06Speaker 7: But like, this.
- 28:06Speaker 8: Wasn't handled well, and like you're the Mariners, you want
- 28:09Speaker 8: to be able to announce it right away. You want
- 28:12Speaker 8: to say, hey, look it's gonna be on Knees Channel
- 28:14Speaker 8: this time. We're gonna do it here, and they couldn't
- 28:17Speaker 8: do it. And you know, I know there was some
- 28:18Speaker 8: frustration within the Mariners because they wanted to get it out.
- 28:21Speaker 8: They wanted the information out there, and they haven't done it,
- 28:24Speaker 8: you know, And I guess to me, it looks it
- 28:28Speaker 8: sure feels like MLB really wants everything to push to
- 28:30Speaker 8: the streaming angle. Hey, I'm a cord cutter. I love
- 28:33Speaker 8: the streaming package, like the idea that you can get
- 28:36Speaker 8: in game or like your in market game stream plus
- 28:39Speaker 8: the MLB app and MLBtv to watch all the games.
- 28:44Speaker 8: I'm in on that, Like I'll pay them money for that.
- 28:46Speaker 8: I'm perfectly willing to pay them money for that. But
- 28:49Speaker 8: at the same time, like there is a large segment
- 28:51Speaker 8: of the fan base that watches games on traditional cable
- 28:55Speaker 8: providers and waiting till the daybook, the day of opening
- 28:59Speaker 8: day to announce that I just think is doing a
- 29:02Speaker 8: disservice to people who are consuming your product.
- 29:05Speaker 7: It's bad business, you know. And I don't blame the Mariners.
- 29:08Speaker 7: This is MLB.
- 29:09Speaker 8: Mariners couldn't come out and say anything, you know, they
- 29:11Speaker 8: couldn't even really come out and say, hey, look, be patient,
- 29:14Speaker 8: we're working through this.
- 29:15Speaker 7: This is taking some time.
- 29:16Speaker 8: These deals don't happen overnight and may lead up to
- 29:18Speaker 8: opening day, but we will get you the games you
- 29:22Speaker 8: want on the providers you want. But it's just been
- 29:26Speaker 8: a super frustrating thing. And I'm still getting tweets from
- 29:29Speaker 8: fans because they're not finding what they want right now.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair, and it's a great point.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I think we reached a point where, you know, I
- 29:38Speaker 2: work in this and I'm pretty tech savvy, and I'm
- 29:42Speaker 2: starting to get a little confused about everything going on,
- 29:44Speaker 2: and that's when it starts to get pretty dicey, where
- 29:47Speaker 2: it's like somebody who's doing this every day. So taking
- 29:50Speaker 2: back to the history for a moment, here, Ryan. Of
- 29:52Speaker 2: course we go back to the number one word that's
- 29:55Speaker 2: used in the media space with MLB that's hopefully getting
- 29:58Speaker 2: solved over time, as blackouts. But I do feel like
- 30:01Speaker 2: at some point, you know, the way it was looked
- 30:04Speaker 2: at was almost like it's this biblical thing, like, of
- 30:08Speaker 2: course there are blackouts, Like, no, it is.
- 30:10Speaker 1: It is not like that, like it shouldn't be fixed.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It has not been fixed yet, right, So now we're
- 30:15Speaker 2: adding on the confusion here, and it is causing I
- 30:17Speaker 2: would agree with you, And that's why your tweets stood
- 30:20Speaker 2: out a lot of turmoil on social.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Media where it's not just vitriol.
- 30:24Speaker 2: It's even like the nice fans that don't usually send
- 30:27Speaker 2: out tweets and you'll look and it's like they've only
- 30:29Speaker 2: tweeted once, but they just created account just to try
- 30:31Speaker 2: and find something. So someone trying to is that are
- 30:35Speaker 2: trying to someone trying to infiltrate your space?
- 30:37Speaker 7: No?
- 30:38Speaker 8: No, they want to kind of clean up around me.
- 30:40Speaker 8: So but like it's just simple, where can I watch
- 30:44Speaker 8: the baseball game? It's simple as that, Where can I
- 30:47Speaker 8: watch the baseball game? And I think that's what fans
- 30:50Speaker 8: have run into. They don't want to search. They want
- 30:52Speaker 8: it to be easy. You know, there are a ton
- 30:54Speaker 8: of casual fans that aren't that don't want to cut
- 30:57Speaker 8: the cord. They just want to be able to flip
- 30:58Speaker 8: it to channel whatever it is and know that it's
- 31:01Speaker 8: going to be there ninety percent of the time. Sure,
- 31:03Speaker 8: Like you know, you know, it's still frustrating for fans
- 31:05Speaker 8: when Apple TV's doing games or Peacock or whatever and
- 31:08Speaker 8: they can't get that or they don't have it. But
- 31:10Speaker 8: you're investing money, You're asking people to subscribe or pay
- 31:13Speaker 8: a higher tier for their cable, and they're willing to
- 31:15Speaker 8: do that, but then you've got to make it easy
- 31:18Speaker 8: for them to have access to it. Make it clear.
- 31:21Speaker 8: Not everybody understands this, you know, And even like me,
- 31:24Speaker 8: I get frustrated by all of this at times, because
- 31:26Speaker 8: like you just want easy answers, and I feel like
- 31:29Speaker 8: fans were not getting the easy answers. Not the Mariner's fault.
- 31:32Speaker 8: MLB should have, you know, done something a little different,
- 31:34Speaker 8: but you know, cable and MLB kind of have them
- 31:37Speaker 8: kind of held captive in that way too. You want
- 31:39Speaker 8: to watch the games, you want to watch it on
- 31:40Speaker 8: your cable provider. Then you're going to have to wait
- 31:42Speaker 8: till opening day to find out for certain I mean
- 31:45Speaker 8: like with the Yankees, you know it's going to be
- 31:47Speaker 8: on Yes, with with the Dodgers, you know it's going
- 31:49Speaker 8: to be on spectrum. But with MLB, you know, doing
- 31:52Speaker 8: these negotiations with these companies and trying to get the
- 31:55Speaker 8: carriage fees and all that, it's a little bit different.
- 31:58Speaker 8: And I don't know that we'll ever see like it
- 32:01Speaker 8: on YouTube, TV or some of the more streaming platforms
- 32:03Speaker 8: because honestly, like, if you're MLB and people are hosting
- 32:07Speaker 8: on a streaming platform, why wouldn't you just get the
- 32:09Speaker 8: app and pay the streaming fees there instead.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Yeah, my last one on this to relate it to
- 32:15Speaker 2: the Mariners was that they dealt with this right of
- 32:18Speaker 2: two or three years ago where they were worried about
- 32:21Speaker 2: being put on a higher tier. Now they end up
- 32:23Speaker 2: out of that whole mix in there with MLB, And
- 32:25Speaker 2: I guess my point is a lot of times there
- 32:28Speaker 2: are like spending issues in all of baseball that are
- 32:31Speaker 2: blamed on the media and the TV side of things,
- 32:33Speaker 2: But I'm like, are we doing it right?
- 32:35Speaker 1: Because if you do it right, more fans will pay
- 32:37Speaker 1: and sign up.
- 32:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 8: I think sometimes we get so many people trying to
- 32:44Speaker 8: figure it out and so many different voices trying to
- 32:47Speaker 8: figure out what's best for the fan, when sometimes it's
- 32:50Speaker 8: again the simplest answers.
- 32:52Speaker 7: You know, what is it?
- 32:52Speaker 8: I always just joke that the team should have a
- 32:55Speaker 8: vice president of common sense, and like, what is the
- 32:58Speaker 8: common sense thing here? What is the simplest nature of
- 33:01Speaker 8: the situation you're dealing with? Because oftentimes that can be
- 33:04Speaker 8: the right answer. It's like the whole Randy.
- 33:07Speaker 7: And Cow thing.
- 33:07Speaker 8: The simplest thing in the world would have been for
- 33:09Speaker 8: Randy to just come out the next day and say, look, yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 8: I miss I was upset. You know, I took it
- 33:15Speaker 8: the wrong way. I shouldn't have said it. I apologize
- 33:17Speaker 8: to Cow. Then everybody moves on. But then it carried
- 33:19Speaker 8: on for like a week and a half when it
- 33:21Speaker 8: didn't need to. You know, that's it's just the simple
- 33:25Speaker 8: the simplest answer often is the best answer.
- 33:28Speaker 6: Totally, totally, totally agree on that, Yes, student, the right
- 33:35Speaker 6: is that blurry for you too, Ryan, because man I
- 33:36Speaker 6: look different.
- 33:37Speaker 7: Yeah, you're looking a little blurry, looking a little rough. Okay.
- 33:41Speaker 6: For the Mariners and you're talking about the TV and
- 33:44Speaker 6: all that the Yankees are on eleven different channels this year?
- 33:46Speaker 6: Can you name all eleven different channels? You said the
- 33:48Speaker 6: Yankees are always on? Yes, last night they weren't on. Yes,
- 33:51Speaker 6: They're on Netflix, They're gonna be on Fox, They're gonna
- 33:53Speaker 6: be on I'm sure they're gonna be on NBC, They're
- 33:56Speaker 6: gonna be on Peacock. I think it's eleven different channels
- 33:59Speaker 6: that the Yanks. Would you like the Marriers to be
- 34:01Speaker 6: on eleven different channels? Because I'll tell teams this all
- 34:04Speaker 6: the time. If you're bad, guess what, you're not on
- 34:07Speaker 6: any other channel. When you're good, you're on all the channels.
- 34:12Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's fine for me.
- 34:13Speaker 8: Like like I said, I have to spend a little
- 34:15Speaker 8: bit of time out of my day explaining my parents
- 34:17Speaker 8: where the games are going to be on at But no,
- 34:19Speaker 8: like you know, when you're successful, things like you know,
- 34:22Speaker 8: I don't love Sunday night baseball. I like having my
- 34:24Speaker 8: Sunday evenings to go out and have dinner or whatever.
- 34:26Speaker 8: But when you're good and a team is good, that's
- 34:29Speaker 8: what's going to happen. You're going to move to the forefront.
- 34:31Speaker 8: And Mariners have a ton of national games early on.
- 34:34Speaker 8: If they're continue to be successful, they're going to keep
- 34:37Speaker 8: doing that. I mean that two major stars in baseball.
- 34:39Speaker 8: They have the best catcher in the best center fielder
- 34:41Speaker 8: in baseball. It's going to be a huge deal whenever
- 34:44Speaker 8: they play in games against the Astros or you know,
- 34:47Speaker 8: when they play the Blue Jays. I'm guessing that some
- 34:49Speaker 8: of those games will get picked up nationally. The rematch
- 34:51Speaker 8: of the LCS. So yeah, it's it's it's really a
- 34:54Speaker 8: good time in Seattle. You have the Seahawks winning the
- 34:57Speaker 8: Super Bowl, you have the Mariners at their apex, sew
- 35:00Speaker 8: super Sonics are going to come back. I mean, it's
- 35:02Speaker 8: a pretty good time to be a Seattle sports.
- 35:03Speaker 7: Fan right now.
- 35:05Speaker 6: By the way, we didn't we didn't talked about Have
- 35:07Speaker 6: we talked about the Seahawks since we talked to you
- 35:09Speaker 6: last about, you know, them winning the Super Bowl.
- 35:11Speaker 5: I didn't think we've talked about have we?
- 35:13Speaker 1: No?
- 35:14Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 35:14Speaker 8: I know that, like we're written about a little bit,
- 35:17Speaker 8: just the Mariners guys going to the Super Bowl and
- 35:20Speaker 8: really feeding off of that in the NFC Title Game. Also,
- 35:23Speaker 8: Mike McDonald, former college baseball player, huge baseball nerd like
- 35:27Speaker 8: loves it. Like he went to a comedy show and
- 35:30Speaker 8: cal Rawley was there in Calci that he just would
- 35:32Speaker 8: not stop asking questions about baseball, about like scouting, how
- 35:37Speaker 8: they do their their pregame meetings, all this other stuff.
- 35:39Speaker 7: He was super, super nerdy about baseball.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Nice, we're gonna have to get him on.
- 35:45Speaker 5: Well, Ryan, I can get him on. I know, I
- 35:47Speaker 5: know the right people to call.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Let's get him on. If you know, if we want
- 35:50Speaker 1: guests that can talk ball.
- 35:51Speaker 5: But you don't want me to talk about anything but baseball. Yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 5: so we can't have the football coach.
- 35:56Speaker 7: He's a Georgia guys and AJ's from Georgia around there
- 35:59Speaker 7: or something like that.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I've heard he's great. So
- 36:02Speaker 6: the people I know say he's great. But by the way,
- 36:04Speaker 6: Goldsmith says, his hair looks amazing. He texted me back
- 36:07Speaker 6: and just wanted you to know, no matter what, he
- 36:08Speaker 6: looks elite. So if he says something to you today,
- 36:11Speaker 6: maybe it came from me.
- 36:12Speaker 7: Just say okay, works for me.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Ryan, Good stuff, man, Go do your thing and appreciate it.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Happy Opening Day, slash night to you out there.
- 36:20Speaker 1: In Seattle.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Now you guys have fun to him. Man could be
