Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Homemark fan.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:18Speaker 1: On today's bonus episode, we are diving into our first
- 0:20Speaker 1: impressions of the March lineup from a Hallmark and I'm
- 0:26Speaker 1: a little afraid to hear what you have to.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Say to me.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I'm like, this looks like a stacked month. Two mysteries,
- 0:32Speaker 1: two romances, and a series premiere.
- 0:35Speaker 2: This to me looks just like a hot mess. Oh no,
- 0:38Speaker 2: it's like, well, people have been wanting mysteries four months
- 0:43Speaker 2: and months and months, and so let's do two back
- 0:46Speaker 2: to back, and then let's just throw whatever else we
- 0:49Speaker 2: got at it.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Well, it's funny that you say that, because, for reasons
- 0:53Speaker 1: that I never understand January's Winter escape that makes sense.
- 0:58Speaker 1: February was Lobruary. Now the middle of March starts Spring
- 1:04Speaker 1: into Love and that continues into April. But these two
- 1:06Speaker 1: mystery movies are not part of any of this. They're
- 1:09Speaker 1: just like standalone floaters. It's just a back to back
- 1:14Speaker 1: mystery weekend. So for the listeners, we will be talking
- 1:18Speaker 1: about only the movies and series premiering in March that
- 1:22Speaker 1: does not include the full Spring into Love lineup that
- 1:25Speaker 1: will be on Girls.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Go on homewark dot com if you.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Want to see what's coming in April, and we'll be
- 1:29Speaker 1: back next month with first oppressions on that.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just waiting for all the emails to be like,
- 1:34Speaker 2: what about the Tayler Hines movie.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yes, Stacey Farber and Tyler Hines, it's coming. It's coming
- 1:41Speaker 1: next month. That's right, next month.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Do you want to want me to kick off with
- 1:47Speaker 2: our first movie? Let's do it, Sugar and vice A.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Hannahs once A Mystery premiere Saturday, March seventh. Hannah finds
- 1:56Speaker 2: a body at the grand reopening of Lake etn In
- 2:01Speaker 2: when a storm traps everyone inside. Hannah must find the
- 2:04Speaker 2: culprit before the road clears and the killer escapes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Now I don't know if you know this term, but
- 2:10Speaker 1: this movie utilizes what's called a locked room mystery format,
- 2:16Speaker 1: which means like everyone's in the room and they're locked
- 2:17Speaker 1: in there, so you know the killer is amongst the
- 2:19Speaker 1: crowd somewhere.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Didn't they do that with like one of the curious
- 2:24Speaker 2: caterer foiled plants? Right? Yeah? Yeah, Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So that's what we're dealing with here. I think mystery
- 2:31Speaker 1: fans are a big fan of that format. You know me,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm kind of like a bumbling mystery fan, so it's
- 2:38Speaker 1: new to me.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But here we are. I feel like, Okay, Alison Sweeney,
- 2:43Speaker 2: Victor Webster, Barbara Nevin, maybe one of the sisters, and
- 2:46Speaker 2: maybe Norman, and then we're gonna have some random dude
- 2:49Speaker 2: or woman who's gonna be the culprit.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, yeah, of course, not gonna be Wowie Zowie.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We know that. Could that would be the plot twist
- 2:58Speaker 2: of the center. Could you imagine if like Wowie Zouie
- 3:01Speaker 2: Victor Webster was like a dexter, you know, just.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Like chas al Haha fooled you.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I mean I would find that to be compelling Hallmark Television.
- 3:13Speaker 1: He's like, just because I look good at this zoo
- 3:15Speaker 1: doesn't mean I'm a good guy.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I slay. Could you imagine, like I kind of love it,
- 3:22Speaker 2: let's go that way.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Can I tell you what is so exciting about this movie?
- 3:28Speaker 1: Tell me tell me the director is none other than
- 3:34Speaker 1: Peter Benson.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Peter Benson.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I almost lapped my hands. When I read that.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You are, I am appointing you the president of the
- 3:46Speaker 2: Peter Benson Fan Club. You love Peter Benson. What's not
- 3:50Speaker 2: to love? The man is a delight.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I am starting the hashtag right now, Peter Benson.
- 3:55Speaker 2: What are you doing here?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Consider it your official hashtag Peter Benson. I adore this man.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think I'm so excited for the new energy he's.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Going to bring.
- 4:03Speaker 1: This is his first participation in the Hannah Swinson directorial universe.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Wait, I wonder if he'll appear. I hope so. Didn't
- 4:13Speaker 2: he say he likes to show up like in the
- 4:14Speaker 2: movies he directs. Yes, yeah, that would be exciting. Okay,
- 4:17Speaker 2: go ahead, I do hope.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So the man has a bazillion acting credit, so I
- 4:21Speaker 1: hope he does put himself, and I hope he's not.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be funny if the director was the killer
- 4:25Speaker 2: if it was him.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Look, he does have a little bit of mystery directing experience.
- 4:34Speaker 1: He directed an installment of Aurorty Garden and Crossword Mysteries
- 4:37Speaker 1: in twenty and twenty twenty one. Of course, more recently,
- 4:41Speaker 1: The More the Merrier and Christmas Above the Clouds. I
- 4:45Speaker 1: think this is gonna be great. This movie was written
- 4:47Speaker 1: by Alison Speeney, so that was it was.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Oh, I think she did the last one too, didn't
- 4:53Speaker 2: she did interesting?
- 4:57Speaker 1: So I had to say I'm feeling real good about
- 4:59Speaker 1: this first installment.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Let me ask you a quick question. You know those
- 5:05Speaker 2: Mystery Island movies, and we've talked about like who's going there?
- 5:08Speaker 2: Like who's going to Mystery Island? When people getting who
- 5:11Speaker 2: would stay at the lake eating in? Who's going to
- 5:14Speaker 2: freaking lake eat in?
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah, their yell reviews are like one star. They're like,
- 5:19Speaker 1: people die here all the time.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I'd just be like, I'm just gonna drive
- 5:23Speaker 2: right through there. There's lock your doors, don't get off
- 5:26Speaker 2: the highway. Seriously, but they got good cookies.
- 5:32Speaker 1: The lure of the cookie jar is too strong.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I mean, is Victor Webster working overtime as the DA
- 5:39Speaker 2: in this town because he's pursuing all these killers.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I mean, it's like one or two murders every year,
- 5:47Speaker 1: really not much delve.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You know, in my local area a body was just
- 5:55Speaker 2: found and they know that. I mean, that feels very
- 6:00Speaker 2: He's scantalous. And of course you haven't heard any news
- 6:02Speaker 2: about it. Like, I don't. I don't know any.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Details, but well, you know, in my local area a
- 6:06Speaker 1: man held his family hostage with a machete and then
- 6:10Speaker 1: the FBI was called in due to possible nerve chemicals
- 6:14Speaker 1: emitting from a household.
- 6:17Speaker 2: So your city's been coming upon my TikTok eye a bit. Oh.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I thought it was one of the safe the cities
- 6:25Speaker 2: in America. What's happening?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Look, I had to call the non emergency police number
- 6:30Speaker 1: the other day and they showed up in ten minutes,
- 6:34Speaker 1: And I feel like that speaks to the fact that
- 6:36Speaker 1: there's really not all that much going on here.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I was joking with my dad.
- 6:39Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, you call in La be like they
- 6:41Speaker 1: have a gun, and they'd be like, are they shooting it?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, So anyway, could be worse, could be worse. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: mean it could be Lake Eden, So right, Okay.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Our next movie is Nellie Knows Mysteries All Manners of Murder.
- 6:57Speaker 2: On Saturday, March fourteenth, The beloved Nelly Knows Mystery series
- 7:03Speaker 2: continues with this elegant new entry. Nelly and Detective Michael
- 7:08Speaker 2: Hogan attend a lavish dinner party that turns into a
- 7:11Speaker 2: crime scene when a guest is murdered. Hello, is this
- 7:14Speaker 2: a closed room mystery? As well? Oh, with their signature,
- 7:19Speaker 2: chemistry and detective work, Nelly and Michael must navigate high
- 7:23Speaker 2: society suspects to solve the case. Pascal Hutton and Kevin
- 7:28Speaker 2: Smith a star.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Couple things when we have some continuity in this because
- 7:33Speaker 1: both our director and our writer return from the First
- 7:38Speaker 1: Nelly Knows Mystery. David Eistrasser directs. He directed the first
- 7:42Speaker 1: Nelly Nose Mysteries. He also directed The Wish Swap. Katherine
- 7:46Speaker 1: Wagner is the writer and her previous and only writing
- 7:48Speaker 1: credit is the First Nelly Knows Mystery of Fatal Engagement,
- 7:53Speaker 1: So we have some continuity. The First Nelly Knows Mystery
- 7:57Speaker 1: came out in twenty twenty four in the summer, and
- 8:01Speaker 1: I could not have told you one thing about that movie.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So I just remember it being quirky.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Well that's funny because I don't remember that at all.
- 8:09Speaker 1: But I went back and listened to a good portion
- 8:11Speaker 1: of our review, and quirky is we.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Both actually really liked it.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And according to our review, a lot of people didn't
- 8:17Speaker 1: like the quirkiness didn't land for them. I am going
- 8:22Speaker 1: to go back and rewatch the first one, because I
- 8:25Speaker 1: genuinely have no idea, no memory like Corky and Elly,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and I know I remembered from our.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Review that she kind of knows everybody in the town.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And the detective comes in and he's the newbie, and
- 8:37Speaker 1: so that's how she helps him navigate these mysteries.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Anyway, I wonder where it picks up. Are we two
- 8:43Speaker 2: years later, are we a month later? What's their relationship? Like?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Is he still the newbie in town? I'm curious. I
- 8:53Speaker 2: am not going to go back and watch it. I
- 8:56Speaker 2: do remember thinking, oh, this is quirky and cute. But
- 8:59Speaker 2: the problem is with mystery franchises, they can't be two
- 9:04Speaker 2: years apart from each other, Like you got to keep
- 9:07Speaker 2: it consistent for me to stay engaged.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Well, but then you have the leg eaton effect because
- 9:13Speaker 1: if they're too close, you're like, why are all these
- 9:15Speaker 1: people dying?
- 9:16Speaker 2: That is a fair point or murder? She wrote, and.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Everyone was like, is Angela Lansery? I don't know her
- 9:22Speaker 1: character's name. Is she actually a serial killer?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Right? I mean? The Victor Webster effect? Yeah, that's amazing.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I will say I actually got really excited to watch
- 9:34Speaker 1: this movie based on our review of the first one,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and so I think it could be a fun mystery installment.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Of course we will be reviewing it so find out
- 9:42Speaker 1: if that plays out like we think it might.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm here for the vibes between Pascal and
- 9:48Speaker 2: I mean obviously like their co stars on Wind Calls
- 9:50Speaker 2: the Heart, and like they've done a lot of work together,
- 9:53Speaker 2: So like that's gonna be easy chemistry to watch. I
- 9:56Speaker 2: just hope like it's entertaining.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and they need to take it beyond that initial chemistry, right,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Like the first movie lays the groundwork, but we need
- 10:05Speaker 1: them to deepen the characters, deep in the relationship, deep
- 10:07Speaker 1: in our understanding of what's going on here, exactly.
- 10:19Speaker 2: What's next? Saturday March twenty first two for t Tee.
- 10:26Speaker 2: T is a talented Chinese American pottery artist who pours
- 10:29Speaker 2: her heart into her ceramic creations. When Will arrives as
- 10:34Speaker 2: the new handyman at her local community center, the two
- 10:38Speaker 2: form an unexpected connection. As t explores her family's cultural
- 10:44Speaker 2: traditions through her art. She and Will must work together
- 10:47Speaker 2: to save the beloved community center from permanent closure. Stars
- 10:52Speaker 2: Janelle Parrish and Chris McNally.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Have you seen the movie poster for this movie?
- 10:59Speaker 2: I have not.
- 11:00Speaker 1: What are you looking at it on our website right now?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Right now?
- 11:05Speaker 1: It is so cute.
- 11:07Speaker 2: But here's our first digit.
- 11:09Speaker 1: See that before you even seen the movie.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Oh this is giving. I like these.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Vines, yes, but what's the digit?
- 11:19Speaker 2: See that right there? And then what?
- 11:21Speaker 1: You don't need to look that deep? I'm looking deeply
- 11:24Speaker 1: to me?
- 11:25Speaker 2: What is it?
- 11:25Speaker 1: This is our third movie this year with a pottery moment.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I like it me too. Is the third movie this
- 11:32Speaker 2: year with the Subway movie.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And there was another one my notes in because of
- 11:40Speaker 1: Cupid say, the second ghost scene reenactment.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They must do pottery. I thought you didn't watch that movie.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I did watch that movie. We just didn't review it. Okay,
- 11:50Speaker 2: I liked it, you didn't. That's the review. I don't remember.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I don't remember Pottery at all. But I was also
- 11:56Speaker 2: in like influenza, a fever cave. I just don't remember
- 12:01Speaker 2: any details about that week whatsoever. But this, this movie
- 12:04Speaker 2: poster is real cute.
- 12:05Speaker 1: The movie posters adorable. Here's what I'm excited about. I
- 12:08Speaker 1: love a cultural heritage storyline. I appreciate that. Again, I
- 12:14Speaker 1: do you think Janelle Parish carries the Asian American representation
- 12:18Speaker 1: for Hallmark on her back? So love her, would love
- 12:22Speaker 1: to see that diversified a little bit. Agree, I do
- 12:25Speaker 1: not need her to be the Asian American poster child
- 12:28Speaker 1: for Homemark. My first impression is I need a Janelle
- 12:32Speaker 1: Parish redemption arc because I hated her Christmas movie so
- 12:37Speaker 1: very much and I was not alone, and I think
- 12:41Speaker 1: she's freaking adorable. So Chris McNally, he's got short hair
- 12:46Speaker 1: in this picture, like I remember he was in that.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I think a Murder Murder one or tip line Murder. Yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 2: dial dial one for murder, and his hair was longer,
- 12:56Speaker 2: and I was just like, Wow, I've guys, I love
- 13:02Speaker 2: like good, dirty, grengy, long haired looking dude. But he's
- 13:06Speaker 2: back to short hair. I really enjoy him. I'm excited
- 13:09Speaker 2: to see this pairing. I hope it's good.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Let me tell you a little bit about the team
- 13:13Speaker 1: behind this movie. Because the writers Matt Johnson. His previous
- 13:18Speaker 1: work Hold Onto Your Hats, Kitten Ball, Cat Bull, Wheel
- 13:22Speaker 1: of Fortune, Jeopardy, among others, Nothing wait in the Hallmark
- 13:26Speaker 1: or Hallmark adjacent universe.
- 13:28Speaker 2: First of all, what is cat Bull and Kitten Bull.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I thought those were Hallmark movies like The Puppy Bull,
- 13:35Speaker 2: I assume. And then he writes content for Will of
- 13:38Speaker 2: Fortune and Jeopardy has in the past for a number
- 13:41Speaker 2: of episodes, yes, and.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Then a bunch of other things. This is very interesting
- 13:45Speaker 1: to me. There is a second writer, Justine Wenzel Chang.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She has two previous writing credits, one of which was
- 13:52Speaker 1: A Big Fat Family Christmas, a Hallmark movie from twenty
- 13:54Speaker 1: twenty two. The cast is Shannon Chan, Kent, Shannon Cook,
- 13:58Speaker 1: and Tia Carrera. She has written in this cultural representation
- 14:04Speaker 1: universe and the director of the film is not currently available.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Ooh so interesting. Yeah, so huh. I'm excited about this though.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I would say this is the thing I'm most excited
- 14:17Speaker 1: about for the month of March.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And this particular movie kicks off Springing to Love. That's right, Okay,
- 14:25Speaker 2: all right, Wait a minute. Is Hope Valley premiering on
- 14:29Speaker 2: the same day? Is this on Hallmark Plus Saturday date?
- 14:32Speaker 2: It is per.
- 14:34Speaker 1: We will talk about Hope Valley in a moment.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Next Saturday, March twenty eighth, a royal setting. I have
- 14:42Speaker 2: a lot of thoughts about it. I know Ruby is
- 14:45Speaker 2: a world renowned gemologist at the top of her field,
- 14:49Speaker 2: when Prince Luca hires her to restore the Kingdom's priceless
- 14:54Speaker 2: crown jewels and design his coronation crown. Ruby's modern, unconventional
- 14:59Speaker 2: approach challenges centuries of royal tradition. Her bold idea is
- 15:04Speaker 2: create tension with the queen while sparking an undeniable attraction
- 15:08Speaker 2: between Ruby and the Prince. Stars Jim Lily and Dan
- 15:12Speaker 2: Jeannotte Jen Lily returning to Hallmark. I have feelings about it. Yes,
- 15:19Speaker 2: they're kind of mixed. And here hear me out. Everybody
- 15:24Speaker 2: knows the lore. She went to great American family, right,
- 15:29Speaker 2: and now she's back, and that makes me question things
- 15:32Speaker 2: about like what Hallmark is doing. So there's that issue
- 15:36Speaker 2: for me. And then I I can't recall a gen
- 15:43Speaker 2: Lily movie that I've loved and I'm the Spirit of
- 15:47Speaker 2: Christmas that I y ish that was like one that
- 15:52Speaker 2: I liked, but not even technically a Hallmark movie if
- 15:55Speaker 2: I'm correct, you are correct. I encouraged the listeners like
- 15:59Speaker 2: if you were diehard gin Lily defender. I want to
- 16:02Speaker 2: hear from you truly. Please email me at Hello at
- 16:06Speaker 2: Girlsgonhollmark dot Com in the subject line, please put like
- 16:10Speaker 2: a four windy best gen Lily Hallmark movie. I'm dying
- 16:14Speaker 2: to know because like, she doesn't do it for me,
- 16:18Speaker 2: so I'm not. I just did. It's very loaded for me.
- 16:22Speaker 2: It's very loaded, and I hate a royal movie, so oh,
- 16:28Speaker 2: double whammy. I forgot about that kind of kind of.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I suspect that people are gonna come at you with love,
- 16:34Speaker 1: romance and chocolate the movie. She and Dan Janott start
- 16:37Speaker 1: in together because when this was announced, our dms were
- 16:41Speaker 1: full of they were so great together in I share
- 16:45Speaker 1: your apprehension. I always wonder what was someone's motivation in
- 16:50Speaker 1: leaving Hallmark for the other network? What's their motivation for
- 16:53Speaker 1: coming back? Where does the discrepancy lie? Like, is it
- 16:58Speaker 1: on the Hallmark side, is it on the actress side?
- 17:01Speaker 1: Where is their heart in terms of where they're landing
- 17:03Speaker 1: on certain issues? So I will be reserving judgment on
- 17:09Speaker 1: this movie until we see it.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Here's here's my fear. Yeah, this feels like it's going
- 17:14Speaker 2: to open the door and we are going to get
- 17:16Speaker 2: the return of you know who, and.
- 17:19Speaker 1: She'll never come back. She'll never come back. She has
- 17:21Speaker 1: said she'll never come back.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I refuse. I will not review any of her movies. Yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 2: I'm with you on that. I'm not going to do it,
- 17:28Speaker 2: but so yeah, let's let's just reserve judgment until we
- 17:34Speaker 2: see the movie.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, here's what we know about the movie. The writers
- 17:38Speaker 1: are Annesley Gordon and W. Stewart. Annsley is also a
- 17:42Speaker 1: working actress. This is her twenty third writing credit. She
- 17:45Speaker 1: has three projects currently in production, but she also wrote
- 17:48Speaker 1: Melt My Heart This Christmas. W Stewart also wrote I.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Liked Felt Christmas, So okay, all right, all right.
- 17:58Speaker 1: The other writer has fewer writing credits, but she did
- 18:01Speaker 1: write two of the Unwrapping Christmas.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Movies, which we did not watch.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I've seen them all, but we did not review them. Yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and I don't know for sure, but I suspect it
- 18:11Speaker 1: was an acquisition, and the Unwrapping Christmas movies definitely were.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So they both have written a lot of Hallmark adjacent movies.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Do we think this was an acquisition?
- 18:20Speaker 1: I genuinely do not know the answer to that, but
- 18:25Speaker 1: I do know that there's a huge fan base that
- 18:28Speaker 1: will ride hard for gen Lily and they're very happy
- 18:30Speaker 1: to have her back. So I'm interested to see the
- 18:34Speaker 1: feedback on this movie. I'm curious what we're gonna think
- 18:37Speaker 1: of it. We haven't hated every Royal movie that's ever
- 18:40Speaker 1: come out, and you, in fact, we've enjoyed a few
- 18:41Speaker 1: of them.
- 18:41Speaker 2: So true. Yeah, we'll see moving on. Yeah, we got
- 18:48Speaker 2: the Hallmark Plus exclusive premiere Hope Valley eighteen seventy four,
- 18:53Speaker 2: which drops on Saturday, March twenty first, the same day
- 18:58Speaker 2: as two fourteen. Do you think that drops like at
- 19:02Speaker 2: midnight in the morning? Great question. They're not doing like
- 19:06Speaker 2: a big like Primetime, are they? Who knows?
- 19:11Speaker 1: I mean, I can't imagine that they would do like
- 19:12Speaker 1: a primetime live release right because they don't want to
- 19:15Speaker 1: draw attention away from their channel, So it may come
- 19:18Speaker 1: out in the morning.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:19Speaker 1: But programming note future episodes come out on Thursdays starting
- 19:24Speaker 1: immediately following, so only the career drops on Saturday. I
- 19:30Speaker 1: don't know the thoughts behind that, unless they're hoping that
- 19:34Speaker 1: people who tune in for Hallmark the next day for
- 19:37Speaker 1: two for TC oh, hey Hope Valley's here, rather than
- 19:41Speaker 1: having to wait until Thursday.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Anyway. Yeah, yeah, Well, the eight episode series takes viewers
- 19:47Speaker 2: back to eighteen seventy four to explore the origins of
- 19:50Speaker 2: the frontier settlement that would eventually become the beloved Hope
- 19:53Speaker 2: Valley community fans have cherished for years. Sary's beth Andy
- 19:58Speaker 2: joy Lyn's Benjamin Ayers. There's some other people. I just
- 20:01Speaker 2: don't have that list in front of me.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I have a few of those names. First of all,
- 20:05Speaker 1: the creator and writer is Alfonso h. Moreno. He is
- 20:09Speaker 1: the creator of wehn Hope Calls. He's executive producer and
- 20:12Speaker 1: writer on When Calls the Heart. I think that's as
- 20:14Speaker 1: to be expected with a spinoff slash prequel, that we
- 20:18Speaker 1: get somebody who's already in the universe will know what
- 20:21Speaker 1: we're dealing with.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Like you said, you and I have talked a lot.
- 20:24Speaker 1: About this show being led by Benjamin Ayers and Bethan
- 20:27Speaker 1: Joi Lenz, which is the driving force for me wanting
- 20:30Speaker 1: to watch it, in addition to it just being a
- 20:33Speaker 1: new series from Hallmark, and I'm hoping that this will
- 20:37Speaker 1: maybe appease some of the people who want us to
- 20:39Speaker 1: watch When Calls the Heart and we just don't some
- 20:42Speaker 1: additional cast Lachlan Cornby from Providence Falls.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he's a hottie.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Indeed, Mila Morgan. She's a child actress. She was in
- 20:51Speaker 1: Christmas at the Catnip Cafe and also The Holiday Sitter.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We have the very big name of Jill Hennessy who
- 20:58Speaker 1: was in Crossing Jordan. She played Jordan and Crossing Jordan,
- 21:01Speaker 1: Lawn Order, Madame Secretary more recently City on a Hill,
- 21:05Speaker 1: among many many other credits. And there's an actress named
- 21:09Speaker 1: Roan Curtis.
- 21:09Speaker 2: She played, most.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Notably the character of young Kate in Fireflight Lane.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I'm curious.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I don't know what to think. This isn't typically the
- 21:21Speaker 1: kind of show not either of us would gravitate towards. Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: but we will be watching it, and yeah, I'm kind
- 21:28Speaker 1: to see how it goes.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I mean, I've told you and I think I've said
- 21:31Speaker 2: it here before too, like this is really going to
- 21:34Speaker 2: have to wow mem And growing up, I did love
- 21:38Speaker 2: Little House on a Prairie and I was just googled,
- 21:41Speaker 2: like when did Little House on a Prairie take place?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Which was eighteen sixty nine and eighteen seventy. So I'm like,
- 21:48Speaker 2: that's like an AI overview. I don't know if that's
- 21:51Speaker 2: actually accurate, but it looks like between the eighteen seventies
- 21:54Speaker 2: and eighteen eighty uh huh huh. You know, so we're
- 21:57Speaker 2: kind of in the same time frame. It's gonna hit
- 22:01Speaker 2: that like Little House Vibe that I liked as a child.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I don't know. I love Bethany Joyland's I love Ben Airs,
- 22:10Speaker 2: but I love Ben Airs when he's funny. And I
- 22:13Speaker 2: don't think the material here is gonna lead to comedy.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah it doesn't. That's not what you are guessing you're
- 22:20Speaker 1: gonna get. But I will say we watched that first
- 22:23Speaker 1: episode of One Calls the Heart and we're pleasantly surprised.
- 22:25Speaker 2: By how much we enjoyed it. Totally true.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Yeah, like Aaron Craikow really delivered in that first episode,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and we actually both really like Laura Laughlin in that
- 22:36Speaker 1: episode as well.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And so, like I said, I don't know what to think.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I am gonna try and go in it with as
- 22:43Speaker 1: blank as late as possible and just watch it for
- 22:45Speaker 1: what it is.
- 22:47Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. But I was watching I don't
- 22:49Speaker 2: know what I was watching the other night, but it
- 22:50Speaker 2: was a commercial for this came on and my daughter
- 22:52Speaker 2: was sitting with me, and I was like, I went
- 22:56Speaker 2: review that, and she goes, it doesn't look that bad,
- 22:59Speaker 2: and I was it's like for my gen Z teenager
- 23:03Speaker 2: to be like, it doesn't look that bad. I was
- 23:06Speaker 2: kind of surprised.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You know, maybe in the age of like Yellowstone and
- 23:10Speaker 1: nineteen twenty three or whatever, all those throwbacks are like
- 23:14Speaker 1: they've been primed to be into this kind of content.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. All right, Well, that's a wrap
- 23:21Speaker 2: on our first impressions.
