head, so bear with me, those TV and film fanatics who might call me out on this. 11:23 --> 11:29 But this stair scene, when Rocky went up the stairs, this was the first use of the Steadicam. 11:29 --> 11:30 Yes. 11:30 --> 11:30 Yeah. 11:31 --> 11:34 And so the Steadicam itself was invented for this movie. 11:35 --> 11:40 And it was, of course, it's been modified over the years, obviously, in 40 years. 11:40 --> 11:46 But the idea was, is when Rocky goes up those steps, you'll notice that the filming is very steady. 11:47 --> 11:53 The individual next to Stallone is walking up and or running up with Sylvester as he's going up and down the stairs. 11:53 --> 11:54 And there's no jostling. 11:54 --> 11:55 There's no bump at it. 11:55 --> 11:59 Because, you know, you try to film, put your hand, put your camera in your hand around up the stairs, it's going to move. 12:00 --> 12:04 They used that footage to sell the technology of the camera. 12:04 --> 12:05 That's right. 12:05 --> 12:13 Isn't that amazing, Ruben, that here's an individual who creates a script, sells the script, and inspires millions of people to better their lives. 12:14 --> 12:14 Yeah. 12:14 --> 12:15 Because of a movie. 12:16 --> 12:18 But at the same time, technology is sort of advanced by this movie. 12:18 --> 12:21 Now, it's not to say that a Steadicam would never have been invented. 12:21 --> 12:22 But this is where it got used. 12:22 --> 12:23 But this is where it got used for the first time. 12:24 --> 12:31 So it's just amazing to me the snowball effect that this movie has on generations of people and on the film industry itself. 12:31 --> 12:37 Now, the one thing I liked about the stairs scene at the very beginning of the film was the first attempt that he had at the stairs. 12:38 --> 12:39 He was in pain. 12:40 --> 12:41 He was really hurt. 12:41 --> 12:42 And he couldn't really do it very well. 12:43 --> 12:46 And anyone that's tried a workout for the first time has experienced that. 12:46 --> 12:49 The first attempt at anything, it sucks at first. 12:49 --> 12:54 But then you get so good at it that it's something that you end up almost craving. 12:54 --> 12:55 They call that the runner's high. 12:55 --> 12:56 I'm a runner myself. 12:56 --> 12:57 Yeah. 12:57 --> 12:58 And I know when I don't run, I feel guilt. 12:59 --> 13:01 Like, I could have run today. 13:01 --> 13:03 My body could have experienced a sweat. 13:03 --> 13:08 It could have experienced that feel-good feeling of sweating because you're working your body. 13:09 --> 13:09 Absolutely. 13:09 --> 13:14 But the first time I ran the distance I do run now, the first time I ran that distance, it killed me. 13:15 --> 13:15 And my time was terrible. 13:16 --> 13:20 But over the years, not only has it not killed me, my time gets better. 13:20 --> 13:20 What distance do you run? 13:21 --> 13:24 Well, due to time, conflict with the family. 13:24 --> 13:27 I don't mean conflict, but just because I have a busy life at home, I can't go running for four hours every day. 13:28 --> 13:30 So I just run about 40, 45 minutes, 40 minutes a day. 13:30 --> 13:37 But it's about six, almost seven kilometers, which is about four, four and a half miles a day when I do run. 13:37 --> 13:37 Good for you. 13:37 --> 13:39 It's just a good pace where I'm sweating. 13:39 --> 13:40 It feels good. 13:40 --> 13:42 It doesn't take a lot of time away from home. 13:42 --> 13:47 But you get that workout, you burn anywhere from 600 to 800 calories, depending on whatever the app decides for that day. 13:47 --> 13:49 But it's, yeah, it's a great little workout. 13:50 --> 13:54 Do you run with silence, podcast, or music? 13:54 --> 13:55 Great question. 13:55 --> 13:58 I know we talked earlier in the recording that didn't the artist that pumps you up the most through measuring people's heart rates and what they burn for calories during this individual's playing of music was Eminem. 14:17 --> 14:21 Eminem produces the hashtag a training montage, or the Going to Fly Now song. 15:22 --> 15:26 So music really does, obviously, pump you up. 15:26 --> 15:30 And Bill Conti's music for the movies and the training montages certainly do that. 15:31 --> 15:34 So the stairs, great scene, iconic throughout all the movies. 15:34 --> 15:38 While you just said that, I just hashtagged on Facebook, Going to Fly Now. 15:38 --> cut it out. 17:43 --> 17:47 Kind of a, it's funny how the life imitating art aren't imitating life. 17:47 --> 17:51 So here's Stallone who played Rocky, getting called out by, you know, a character. 17:51 --> 17:55 But the character in the movie isn't Rocky, but Stallone playing both characters. 17:55 --> 17:55 Like, is that funny? 17:56 --> 17:57 Like, Stallone's like, oh yeah, what am I doing? it himself in a movie. 18:08 --> 18:11 So we get to the meat factory and this is after Rocky's run. 18:11 --> 18:22 So we're, we're to understand that after every time Rocky runs at the end of his run, he goes to Pauly's meat factory and to get like a slab of meat or bacon or something to take home and cook for breakfast. 18:22 --> 18:27 So he goes in there and Pauly's there in one of his moods, of course, preparing the meat for Rocky. 18:27 --> 18:29 They're just doing some light chit chat. 18:29 --> 18:32 And Pauly says, how are things going with my sister? 18:32 --> 18:33 How, how are things going? 18:34 --> 18:35 And Rocky's kind of like, oh, things are great. 18:36 --> 18:36 She's got gaps. 18:37 --> 18:39 And then Pauly goes, gaps, what are gaps? 18:40 --> 18:41 Rocky does that classic line. 18:42 --> 18:55 That's a great Valentine's Day card. 18:55 --> 19:02 You can say that to your wife, you know, or your, or your boyfriend or husband that together you, you even each other out, you complete each other. 19:02 --> 19:12 That's a great way of saying, I've always loved that metaphor that they both have gaps that they fill and gaps, as you know, it was just something really well, actually. 22:24 --> 22:25 Things are going really well. 22:26 --> 22:27 And Paulie goes on the attack now. 22:28 --> 22:29 He says, I don't get it, he says. 22:29 --> 22:30 I don't get it. 22:30 --> 22:31 What do you see in my sister? 22:31 --> 22:35 I guess that's the point why I was bringing up the economic disadvantage and all that. 22:35 --> 22:38 Is the self-esteem has got to now, 24:14 --> 24:16 Paulie has kept pestering Rocky for the Gazze deal 24:16 --> 24:18 to work on the dogs collecting money. 24:19 --> 24:22 Rocky says, this is why I don't set you up with Gazze. 24:22 --> 24:24 It's because you got a big mouth, essentially. 24:25 --> 24:26 And you just did it with me. 24:26 --> 24:27 And this is somebody that you're close with. 24:28 --> 24:29 You know, what are you going to do with people 24:29 --> 24:30 that are going to maybe break your thumbs? 24:30 --> 24:31 Yeah. 24:31 --> 24:32 So I don't set you up with Gazze. 24:32 --> 24:33 Maybe one to protect you. 24:33 --> 24:34 And one, because you got a big mouth. 24:35 --> 24:36 You're going to get yourself and other people in trouble. 24:36 --> 24:39 And Paulie goes off the handle here. 24:39 --> 24:42 So Paulie then starts punching the meat first. 24:43 --> 24:44 He goes, I don't need Gazze. 24:44 --> 24:45 He hits the meat a couple times. 24:45 --> 24:46 I don't need you. 24:46 --> 24:48 I don't need this stinking place. 24:48 --> 24:50 And he also says, this place stinks. 24:51 --> 24:55 So Paulie, he's in the same line, unbeknownst to him, 24:55 --> 24:58 that Rocky had said like 24 hours ago about his apartment. 24:58 --> 25:00 So a lot of places stink, apparently, in Philadelphia. 25:01 --> 25:02 The apartment stinks. 25:02 --> 25:03 The meat factory stinks. 25:04 --> 25:05 So Paulie's hitting the thing, you know, 25:05 --> 25:07 hitting the side of the meat with the side of his fist, 25:07 --> 25:08 saying, it stinks in here. 25:09 --> 25:10 It stinks. 25:10 --> 25:12 Rocky, I love it, pushes Paulie back just gently. 25:12 --> 25:14 Just pushes him away from the meat. 25:15 --> 25:17 And Rocky now, in turn, starts punching the meat. 25:18 --> 25:21 Dook, dook, dook, dook, dook, dook, dook, dook. 25:21 --> 25:24 And as he's punching it, you hear a couple of the ribs cracking. 25:25 --> 25:26 The beef ribs cracking. 25:26 --> 25:29 And he's got the meat blood on his hands. 25:30 --> 25:30 And he's holding them. 25:31 --> 25:33 He gently grabs the meat back from Paulie. 25:34 --> 25:34 He says, hey, I'll see you tomorrow. 25:36 --> 25:36 That was it. 25:36 --> 25:37 No words were exchanged. 25:37 --> 25:38 Just punch the meat. 25:40 --> 25:43 That era, at least what I picture of that era, men. 25:44 --> 25:45 Yeah, men being men. 25:45 --> 25:48 Just like, I don't have the words, but I can punch this meat. 25:48 --> 25:52 And he just, yeah, so he took out his anger and aggression on an inanimate object, 25:52 --> 25:53 an already dead piece of
